Nestled along the stunning coastline, Carrickfergus Castle stands as a formidable testament to over 800 years of history and military prowess. Originally constructed by Anglo-Norman knight John de Courcy, this impressive fortress has withstood sieges from Scots, Irish, English, and French forces alike. Its storied past includes significant events like the Battle of Carrickfergus in 1597 and Ireland's last witch trial in 1711.
Nice castle at a reasonable price. There is about an hour worth of sights to see here. There are scenes set up in various parts of the castle. Nice coffee trailer as well in the way out. Worth the stop for the views and stretch the legs. No booking needed ahead of time when we visited

Beautiful wee castle and walking trails with food vans, toilets, plenty of parking and plenty of history.
We were driving down the scenic coastal drive towards Giant Causeway and stopped here to look around and grab something to eat. It turned to be a nice place to spend 1.5 hrs despite not going into the castle which is ticketed at £6 approx.
Military medieval castle, which has been renovated slightly, to keep up its appearance. The thing I found very wonderful, is it actually had large figures of soldiers, monks, and even a lady posing in place to show, what things/ buildings were used as. I had not found this, at most of the castles, I found it refreshing. They were preparing for Halloween, so in some of my pictures there was a theme.
Had a great time exploring this castle. It wasn’t too crowded since my friend and I visited close to closing time. The entrance fee is around £6, but you can get a special rate if you’re a student.
Only £6 entry with a small population of tourists, allowing you to explore and learn in a quiet environment at your own pace. Very interesting history going back multiple ownerships and war eras. Lots of sensory rooms inside for those that need it, which I found very unusual and thoughtful. Most places I've been don't have those. Actively being restored so I'm sure it will get even better with time.
Definitely felt like I stepped back in time here! It was fun to explore and read about the history, I like how some parts were set up for you to see how it would’ve looked in the day. Spent 1hr and a half here, worth the wee trip from Belfast. You can even grab little medieval recipes from one of the rooms for free! students pay €4.50 (or something like that). Would recommend if you’re a medieval castle lover!
Wonderful place! So much history and so much of the original still here. Very reasonable entry fee to come and explore the castle and keep.
Went on a rainy day and we were able to stay relatively dry. Castle is staged, so it was fun. Nice learning center for the kids.

Had a fantastic time here today. Our little dog Harvey loved it all and was made very welcome, given a treat and dog bowl of water. My husband who is in a wheelchair also loved being out and we all loved our delicious meals. Very good food and excellent staff who made the visit for us. The staff couldn't do enough and as a family who can't get out too often like this we had a special time. Many thanks

We booked for Sunday dinner, staff were friendly helpful. Even when we ordered food, had to order smaller size of fish and chips they accommodated it. Food amazing, good value for money. Second time here. Car park facing ownies free after 6pm and all day sunday.
Love the atmosphere of Ownies and service was great, we hadn't booked and it was no issue at all. Staff incredibly friendly. The vegan burger is very mushy texture wise and I couldn't finish it unfortunately. The chips were delicious. Would still come back to try the vegan lasagna however.
A varied menu with reasonable prices. Food quality is excellent. Because of this, the restaurant part of this establishment gets filled pretty quickly at dinner time - better book your table before heading over to this pub. If you are willing to pass the time over a pint before your meal, there are plenty of seats at the bar area. The decor and the atmosphere are similar to the Belfast venues Ben Madigan's and the Benedicts sans the loud music in the latter.
We have been to ownies a few times.
Like how the vegetarian chips etc is cooked in separate fryers from the fish/ meat.
Food was tasty, although the burger bap was processed. Creme brulee was a bit of a mess. Was just like a massive bowl of custard, wasn't 'crispy' on top like it should be.
Dog friendly which is fab, although they aren't allowed upstairs only downstairs which is a shame as a different menu.
Would I go back? Yes off course!

Had lunch there today. My friend ordered a chicken burger - cut it in half and it was pink and raw in middle. We sent it back. They brought out another one and halfway through eating it discovered it was bloody. Told waitress who informed us that chef had checked temperature on it and it would be safe to eat. Needless to say my friend didn’t eat it as she’d lost her appetite. To add insult to injury they made us pay for the burger only knocking fifteen percent off bill. My friend couldn’t eat her burger!
Unless you want salmonella avoid avoid avoid!!
Only had food and drink. But looked like good Craic (fun) in the evening too. Food and drink were lovely. Staff were so nice. That N Ireland charm is strong here. I Would definitely go again.

It was my first time at Josh Macs, and the food was great. We had the Chicken Stack and the Old Mac sizzler. Good service was excellent, and the place had a nice atmosphere!

Relaxing time, as called in for a meal with my wife, we were seated, and offered the menu, and asked if we would like to order some beverages. Really courteous and polite.My wife ordered the mocka, or fake cocktail, myself a coke with blackcurrant, really refreshing. For the mains, a Caesar salad , and the chicken stack with BBQ sauce. Both delicious, and tender pieces of chicken. The salad had square potatoes and maple bacon included. Really filling and well satisfying.
As we visit a quite a few times, we are never disappointed.
The menu has a lot to offer, and worth a visit.
We really enjoyed the food we chose. Plenty of flavour and plenty of food. The lady who took our order was warm and friendly and attentive.
We'll be back.

Really pity about this place. Been a while back and food wasn't great, met friend here again and the food looked great, what a disappointment. The grease was just too much. Lovely chicken wrapped destroyed by deep fired battered chicken that the grease was still oozing from the batter and the garlic fries was just garlic butter put on top of what looked and tasted like 2nd time in the frier that there was little to no potato in the fries just pots of grease, couldn't eat them and left most of the wrap too. Coleslaw was good, service was excellent, food big let down.

The employees at the local Sainsbury's store are extremely accommodating and pleasant. I frequent this particular branch multiple times a week because I refuse to return to Tesco, primarily due to their staff. Laura and Lynn, in particular, stand out as they consistently display friendliness and helpfulness, even during power outages or when machines malfunction. They truly enhance the reputation of the store. The frontline staff undoubtedly have a significant impact on customer experience.
Loved this hotel room was clean and bed comfy. Evening food was delicious staff were very friendly. Excellent deco in the breakfast room.

Very positive experience. The shop was well stocked with shelves mainly full. It bucks the trend for Sainsbury stores which mainly seem to have half empty shelves.
Very good market, fully loaded for kitchen & home. And yes.. spirits are available here!
There is a large carpark with disabled and parent parking. The store is all on one level with wide aisles. Sadly the cafeteria is now closed. They have more self checkouts. Would be great if they sold more clothing, you can only buy socks and tights. Argos is on the same premise and they have a large selection of fresh foods and healthy drinks. They also sell alcohol. Close location to tourist attractions right on the harbour
Place needs updating, very old looking and staff can't be bothered to assist you.

The menu features popular items like the Beer-Battered Haddock & Chips, which is highly recommended by Head Chef Michael. While the food may not be Michelin-star quality, it certainly delivers on taste and generous portions.
I usually have regular Fish n chips on Fridays, I can confidently say this is the best Fish n Chips I've had by far.
The atmosphere, ambiance and music at just the right music to be enjoyable while having a conversation is a plus.
The staff here is welcoming and helpful.
The Value Meals are affordable for a weekday lunch.
I've enjoyed by experience here.

went for dinner and got the lasagne with chips and honestly it was disgusting, it looked like tomato soup with a lump of cheese in it. the food is very poor it did not look like lasagne at all, it was more like a cheap ready meal. The service from staff was not great when ordering food the staff member was very abrupt and rude. The toilets in the place have no doors/locks on them and the water is boiling which is definitely not suitable for children.
Good and well priced food with a good selection of drinks. Nice view over part of the harbour from the outside seating.
Very convenient if you're arround the area or staying at the premier inn next door.
A handy place to meet up for a bite to eat and a quick drink.
Menu selection was good with staff willing to work with us on small changes.

Table of 4 in for Sunday carvery at 2pm (carvery is serving until 6pm). By this stage they have ran out of all meat apart from gamon and most sides were cold or missing. Each pina colada we got had different measures and did not look the same, very little consistency. Man on the bar lost his till card every time we went up to order so each order took a while....
Kirsty and Sarah are amazing, always Making sure you have everything you need .
Most importantly for my family they show inclusion for our asd children and make sure their needs are met .Great place for families.

I absolutely love to come to Springsteens Diner, whenever my partner and I travel to Ireland. This has to be our favourite restaurant over here. However, for over 20 years they have been serving American based food and I cannot be disappointed.
Firstly, credit goes to the fabulous team that work here. You make everything easy and taste delicious. In addition, i love how everything about the lay out and how it feels home-like.
Secondly, the food was perfect! Most of the food items come with a side (read the menu to make sure). I got myself “the firebird burger” and the bacon mac and cheese. The burger was really good and was well constructed and the mac and cheese was creamy and such a delightful meal.
Finally, their current cocktail of the week a mango, peach and strawberry daiquiri was absolutely beautiful! Not just from presentation but with blasting taste too!
If I did live in Ireland, I would come here every day to eat. Thank you so much for the experience 💙

Honestly my favourite place to come for food. AMAZING service and food, and the always have the best music on. I’m surprised the line isn’t out the door! My personal favourite is the redneck🤭
My wife and I had lunch today . We were greeted politely and promptly by Dean, (waiter).
Although we had not made a booking, we were shown directly to our seats.
Our drinks orders were taken and we were given the (very extensive) menus.
Our drinks were served, and food orders taken.
The restaurant was reasonably busy, but the staff were coping extremely professionally.

The food was very well presented, hot and flavoursome.
The staff were attentive throughout our visit, (not overbearing), with exceptional manners.
A special mention for Dean, who was a true professional throughout.

What an absolute gem! I just happened to find this place on google maps while on holiday in the area and I’m very glad I did. We only stayed for 5 days but ate here 3 times. I didn’t even get a photo of the evening meal here as it was too good to wait around for. Breakfast is served until 3pm which is super handy if like me, you’re not a morning person. Portion sizes were brilliant, you would never be leaving still hungry. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming and the food was 10/10 too. Highly recommend this place but I just wish it was closer to home.
Service is 100%, couldn’t meet nicer people, friendly and not too smothering nor neglectful, food always comes as we ask for, this is based on 3 of us.
Every week, I visit this diner for breakfast with my mum, or partner and kids .The food is always lovely – fresh, tasty, and consistently high quality – but what really makes the experience so special is the incredible service.

Springsteens is one of my favourite places to eat. I have never had a bad meal there yet in all the years I have been going there. I used to work in the area and when I moved jobs I really missed eating there as often as I used to. Every time I am in Carrick I make a point of going for something to eat in Springstees.
The diner looks great inside, it has a retro American feel. The staff are also lovely and very friendly.
The food there is amazing! Again it has a US style feeling, they really do it well.
Springsteens really impressed me, it made a lasting impression.

Fantastic experience at Papa Browns in Carrick! The food was delicious and full of flavour, but the highlight was the service. Clair was incredibly helpful, friendly, and made sure everything was spot on. Can’t recommend this place enough – I’ll definitely be back!
Food was OK, nobody was 'wowed' and we wouldn't hurry back for a while, but we will return, we always do! Portions were too big, if that can be a complaint! Burgers were impossible to lift and eat. Mixed grill was poor - medium steak came well done and very tough and chewy, even though it was a thing slice, most of it was left, pork sausage was poor also. Deserts were good as was the service.
It was just amazing the staff where so nice and friendly they made you nearly feel at home the food was amazing we where staying across the road and i wish i knew about this place the night before
Took this place in in passing for the first time last week and really loved it.
The decor is fine, nothing special but it's a nice enough place to sit, the booths are nice and there is a decent amount of space and comfort.
The staff were mostly on the younger side and both helpful and friendly, so it is a pleasure to visit.
As for the food itself it was great and a real standout. I got the chicken burger and it was simply one of the best Ive had in a while.
Looking forward to calling back in here when next out that way!
I wanted to take the opportunity to thank the team at Pappa Brown's who hosted 1st Greenisland Cub Scouts as we celebrated the children's hard earned Chief Scout Silver Awards. Hadn't been here in years, yet decided to go for a meal, as heard it had changed.
My wife ordered the fish and chips, it came with garden peas, as she would have preferred mushy, myself ordered the ribs with chicken, which was served with a side of chips or french fries, it also had coleslaw and sauce, and corn on the cob.
The ribs were really fatty, and a bit chewy on some, even though there was not as many as I anticipated. The chicken was coated a light batter, not as tender as expected. Onion rings were ok, I know I'm sounding like a critic but you want to hear about the experience, but it was still enjoyable, if it makes sense, but not as what it was years ago.
The wife's fish, wasn't straight from the sea experience, as was probably from the fridge or freezer, but still she enjoyed it.
Not as good as it was, but hopefully it will be.

I've been meaning to try this Indian restaurant in the heart of Carrickfergus for a while now. A few people had recommended it so I was confident that it would be good and it was! All of our meals were really tasty and service was really fast. The view of the castle is quite special too! If you are in the Carrickfergus area definitely give it a go.
Great variety of food. Service lovely and staff polite and helpful. A bit expensive but worth it. We ordered variety of stuff and all was lovely.
Came here on a reccommendation and it did not disappoint! King prawn starter melted in your mouth with just the right amount of heat. Chicken tikka jalfrezi was hot and flavourful, chicken curry and byriani was soo good. The naan was the nicest ive ever tasted. Cant wait to come back

We popped in on a busy Saturday night to order a take away. We were warmly greeted by a lovely gentleman who was then very helpfull with a couple of order requests.
He said the meal would be ready to collect in 20 mins which it was and its was really really tasty.
I had onion bhaji and Paneer tikka massala and my wife had vegetable and paneer passanda.
Would 100% reccommend.😀
First visit here, for lunch - 14.95 3 course menu- very good food (especially the chilli nan I ordered!) Would recommend trying it out!

John was so amazing and took extra care of our guests and especially made sure all the kids were looked after. Which meant that we could totally relax and enjoy our day. John even went beyond with helping our daughter by cutting up her food once it was brought out to her and got her a drink and totally took care of her. Everything was set out perfectly. The food was abundant and absolutely delicious. The cocktails and drinks were amazing. At the end of the night the staff entertained the kids with their dance moves as we said our goodbyes to guests and gathered our things which was amazing and allowed us some time to make sure we had gathered everything. They had packed the rest of our things and set aside for us to collect the next day. Such a well run day and beautiful setting and views. Could not fault one single thing.

However, when the starter arrived we were given no cutlery, asked for extra butter as well. 5 mins later we had to go and get these ourselves.
Shortly after, the waiter came over to see if everything was ok. We hadn’t finished starters at this point. Less than a minute later he arrived back with our mains and was forced down in front of us. No time to finish starter nor allow it to settle before being made to eat our mains.
Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The waiter/ host was very funny and all waitresses very helpful. Food was excellent and wine delicious.

The restaurant was very busy. We had booked a table and were seated on arrival. We waited 30mins for our order to be taken. We noticed at other people who had arrived after us were being served there meal. We had to say to a waitress that we were waiting nearly 30mins for our meal. When she checked in the kitchen it was served immediately. My husband was suspicious that they were reheated and served as had been left sitting in the kitchen. The food was extremely hot.
Even with the issues we encountered the food was delicious and we will try it again.
We ordered takeaway tonight and everyone in the family really enjoyed what they got. Pizza was amazing. Lasagne and Chicken stack disappeared in no time. If anything the only problem was that we had too much to eat.
I had the breads to start - felt a bit stale as they were toasted and were hard to eat.
Main issue is that my wife wanted steak and I wanted pizza. Surprised you don’t have the option of both in the main menu upstairs.
Had to move downstairs as there were very limited veggie options to choose from.

Easy to make booking on the website for a time that suited me. Prompted that it is a 2 hour allocation in the pizzeria downstairs. Food was delicious & service was efficient & friendly.
Atmosphere was ruined for a while by the behaviour of 5-6 children running around in & out of the bathrooms screaming & their mothers/carers not controlling them. Thankfully they left about an hour later!

The Ulster Folk Museum, located just outside Belfast, offers a unique glimpse into Northern Ireland's past. Divided into two sections, the museum vividly brings the province's social history to life. The Folk Museum features a meticulously recreated early 20th-century town with costumed actors practicing traditional crafts. Visitors can explore various reconstructed buildings and witness regional skills such as lace making, wood turning, open-hearth cooking, and more.
Went for a day out from Warren Point. Amazing to see all the old buildings, many which had been transported from all over Ireland and rebuilt. Also saw several of the craftsmen and women carrying out traditional work. It demonstrated history much better than just reading in books. Even had a pint in the old pub on site. Well worth the visit and a great day out for all the family.

I first visited in 1971 as a child. Since then I’ve visited the museum over 20 times. I always see and learn something new. The staff and volunteers are welcoming and knowledgeable. We pick a nice day and walk the full park, thoroughly enjoying the peace and quiet especially in the rural sections. A special place.
Great day out. From the moment we arrived, the staff and volunteers were friendly, knowledgeable and clearly enjoying themselves as much as the rest of us. The doctor was a particular favourite. He brought the role of the local doctor to life. Just a shame we couldn't transport him to our local surgery. The sweet shop brought back many a memory. A very informative and instructive discussion on weaving and the important role of looms in the community. The local hostelry was worth a visit for the history of the building and a glass of the black stuff. Really interesting buildings, steeped in history. Gentle walks around the park to see the cottages and farm buildings. You could easily spend the entire day there. The gift shop had an array of gifts on offer, at prices to suit most pockets. We really enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend the park and visit again if we were in the area.
Lots to see with original and replica farm and town houses relating to life in Ulster throughout the years. Quite a lot of walking involved and occasional farm animals. Children and adults will enjoy seeing what life was like in the past. Occasional friendly farm animal too. Pigs were popular.
thank you to all the staff today. I really enjoyed my visit with my parents and sister. It felt so refreshing so unplug and step back in time. I’d like to especially thank the doctor who was fantastic. He stayed in character the entire time and made things feel so real. He is a real asset and made the visit completely. Please pass my thanks onto him, my entire family were really impressed. It would be great to see more like him in those traditional roles.
I love the shops and Dr.’s Martin Clinic ❤️ the experience is like time travel way back 100 yrs ago. Dr. Martin was so accomodating Doctor. He was so nice and entertaining. He really suit with his role talking and acting like a real Doctor way back 1900. When u get there better focus on the first village its far better than the following houses. I will return there and explore more the first village. Thankyou!!!
We spent a wonderful day at the museum and still felt that six hours weren’t enough to see everything. It truly feels like stepping back in time — the houses and interiors are beautifully crafted and full of intricate details. We spoke with around eight interpreters representing various historical professions, such as a doctor and a blacksmith, and each conversation was both fascinating and fun. The entry fee offers excellent value, and there’s even a discount if you arrive by public transport. An absolute must-see when in Belfast!

Gets busy on sunny days as you would expect. It is a wide open grassy space attached to a large children’s adventure playground. There is also a café called the Clocktower which is great for a breakfast , lunch ,tray bakes and coffees. It also sells ice cream, all at a reasonable price.

Incredible views from the Knockagh Monument over Carrickfergus, Belfast and the Estuary. The memorial is dedicated to the fallen from the County of Antrim who fell in the Great War and also in remembrance to those who died in WW2.

Spectacular scenery throughout the approach and at the monument. Its an historic memorial with bird eye view to Carrickfergus, Greenisland, Trooperslane & Jordanstown. Plan a visit on bright sunny day, but remember that its always so windy there, so come prepared. No food or cafe there, just a view point.

A very disappointing lunch. Chunky chips more like large mishappen wedges with skins on and not tasty at all. Goujons in heavy over salted batter with shredded lettuce as ‘the salad’. My friends quiche was dry. Lovely waiting staff. She said she would give our comments to chef. Paid £66 for mostly uneaten food. Not impressed at all. Apart from us three other people eating on a Friday lunchtime says it all.
I was visiting family in Northern Ireland from Australia and took them out for dinner to Dobbins Inn, as I had done on the two previous occasions I had visited from Australia. Once again, we were not disappointed as everyone enjoyed the food, drink and atmosphere. There were 17 of us, which was 3 more than booked for, but they still were able to cater for everyone, although it must have put the chef under a bit of pressure!! As in previous years Dobbins Inn is highly recommended and hopefully my family and I will be back there in a few years!!

We enjoyed a really nice lunch in Dobbin's, just in the bar area. We both chose off the specials menu, beef and bird, and steak and ribs. Both costing £15.95. This felt like good value to me. The ribs were tender and tasty, the bone simply falling out cleanly. The steak was delicious! Cooked perfectly! I'll definitely go back.
Had a very nice meal here. Nothing to complain about. Very pleasant, helpful staff and they were able to provide two gluten free meals without any problems. Good value for money too.

Had been busy all day so put an order in on just eat app . Food arrived cold and greasy ! Delivery guy kept saying he needed a delivery code that hadn’t arrived. Paid extra for gravy £2-99 that wasn’t in the bag and for two chicken wings £2-99 that had some strange coating on them. Whitehead Railway Museum is a captivating five-gallery museum located in an old Edwardian railway station. We went here today and we absolutely loved it. My two kids (12 & 10) were fascinated with the history behind the steam trains. We took our time around the museum and looked at all the objects on display.
The staff were very very helpful and welcoming. We had a coffee and milkshakes in the cafe, highly recommend.

We had a lovely visit tonthe Museum. The tour guide (Richard) was superb and incredibly knowledgeable.
The tour itself (80 mins approx) was a little too long for our 9 year-old.
The cafe is great and Keely behind the counter was so bubbly and chatty. She really made us feel welcome.
The food was very good and reasonably priced.
We thought our visit would be about an hour and a half, but all in all we spent almost 4 hours there!

Excellent guided tour by an enthusiastic volunteer. There's a lot more there than we thought. We spent 2 hours there and had very good soup for lunch.
Family day out, 4 generations of the family together. Nice little journey on the train, the volunteers are rightly proud to steam and share the experience.
Fantastic exhibit areas to explore and view engines and carriages at different stages of restoration. The history of rail travel across the region displayed well and very informative.
Finally, I give a massive shout out to the staff of the cafe on site. Serving some great value and wonderful food! DOG FRIENDLY our 4 legged friends were welcomed and made for a longer stay!

Absolutely Brilliant Museum. Highly recommend. Hidden Gem in Northern Ireland not promoted enough! The place was a lot bigger than I imagined. Staff so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
Wonderful place to visit. We took a guided tour and spent a happy 2 hours listening to John explain the complexities of driving a steam train, the design and function of the engines and their separate parts as well as the maintenance needed to keep the railways running. The museum is run by volunteers and they do a wonderful job. The exhibits are well laid out with plenty of boards explaining exactly what you're looking at so, even if there is no guide available, you can get some idea but a guide adds a whole other layer of enjoyment. Be sure to check when they're open so as not to be disappointed.

Quite an interesting wee place. You have the cottage that American President Andrew Jackson parents lived before emigrating and out back a small museum dedicated to the U.S Rangers.
The host/docent was incredibly knowledgeable about Andrew Jackson and his family history. We are from Tennessee, so we're really excited to learn about this connection and so many other historical US figures with toes to the Ulster Scots. A bonus find was the US Ranger Museum, which is in a smaller building out back. Totally worth the stop.

Greeted by Sean, the site's tour guide, we were emersed in a historical experience that I would have never thought to receive.
Sean have us a personal tour of the centre and brought us through its origins and the origins of the US Rangers.
Top class experience in such a tiny corner of Ireland.
We decided to take the train from Belfast to Carrickfergus and visited the castle.
If travelling to the centre, I would advise taking the train to Downshire.
Definitely worth a stop in to see George for a tour. There is some amazing information about the start of the Army Rangers and the President Andrew Jackson and his family and presidential history.
A worthwhile visit, plenty of subject information, all well laid out and a really helpful guide. There is also an American Rangers exhibition.

The pin for the entrance to this nice woodland is in totally the wrong place. Spending 20 minutes looking for the right entrance spoils the walk.
I have lived in Carrickfergus borough over 35 years and juat discovered this gem. Highly recommend well paved and clean forest walk.
Lovely walk however severely lacking in dog waste disposal bins only one at start of walk. Paths could do with clearing as very slippery in places. A few park benches would be nice.
Signs torn down and path pretty much turned back into muck but the woods are awesome. There's some nice wildlife style murals. As a forest walk I've always enjoyed it since I was a kid

Lovely, if steep in places, walk through woodland that was formerly the garden of the adjacent mansion house. Kissing gate at each end, so not wheelchair accessible.

Fantastic place for a visit whether you're young or old, everyone is so friendly and welcoming and there are lots of animals to visit, plus an onsite garden centre which is brilliantly priced, the cafe is also very nice with delicious fresh food and it's very reasonably priced. Great wee place to kill a couple of hours.
This is a must-do when you visit the area. Food was fab in the cafe, staff are wonderful. The Farm is full of surprises! Highly recommend a visit.

Complaint over the years for chucking my stuff passing through the scan, broke my favourite small keyring clubcard, no apology just an "oh", not a word from her even not telling the total of cost, I have to look at the till to see, when she gave me the change, I held out my hand, then she slam down the money on the packing area. Now I just used contact-less. Not once but many times with Similar situation. The woman called Lynne never change, still racism and with a lousy attitude. I used to go to other till but have to go to her cos there's no others that's why I don't go to Iceland much as I used to ☹️

It used to be OK but in the last couple of months it's got very poor, I stopped buying from them but tried ordering from the place again just to see if they'd improve, unfortunately not the food is slop, you're paying more now for less quality, I ended up throwing most of the chips in the bin and the burgers weren't finished by all three of us as they were quite bad. We get out of the friary regularly and it's always delicious! But tonight the chips were greasy and so disappointing to other times...the gluten free scampi was also disappointing...chewy prawns and so much batter. This is the first negative experience I've had. I will try them again as I said the food is normally 100% not sure why the chips were poor...hardly ate it. I hope it picks up again as we love here.
Their standards have dropped a lot recently, I Urge a health inspector to inspect this place urgently. As 3 times now I have found bugs in my food. Wouldn't order here again.

Yesterday, on Thursday 3rd September, I visited The Whistle Stop café in Whitehead after reading positive reviews and seeing appealing pictures on Instagram. During my trip from Derry to Belfast, I decided to make a detour and explore Carrickfergus & Whitehead. This delightful café boasts a modern design with charming decor and furnishings. I was impressed by their well-priced menu selection. Conveniently located opposite the Train Station tracks crossing, the café offers a pleasant atmosphere and courteous service.
Had a great meal here. Must have been a special, I don't see it on their menu - pulled pork burger. Stacked up high, very tasty, good side salad. I enjoyed sitting in the window in the sunshine. Great view of the 1877 / 1890s train station. Top marks for hygiene in their score-on-the-doors. Staff were great. Dog friendly, outside tables, art and ice cream on offer.

We had a lovely lunch in Faro (Whitehead ) today. We shared the goats cheese balls starter which was very tasty. We then had a 10" pizza each. Pizzas were very good as long as you like thin bases which I do. I got the ham and pineapple and my only criticism would be that I would have liked some more pineapple on it. Overall we really liked Faro and we will definitely recommend it and we will definitely be back!

Thought I would give the new menu a try and I'm afraid the service and food this time was just not up to scratch. I would just recommend if you are particularly busy that you don't accept orders online as I had to wait 2.5 hours for my order which was a bit disappointing as the food wasn't up to the usual standard. But I will probably try again sometime.
My friend and myself had a lovely experience here today. The food was excellent and the service was excellent. Just a pity you are closing down due to sell of property. I feel for you. Just hope you reopen in a new premises soon. Good luck x
We used to order a FARO Pizza regularly under the old management and it would never disappoint on both quality and service. However under the new management, we tried a delivery for the first time (usually collect) 2 pizzas, 2 sides ordered... what arrived was 2 sides, 1 pizza and an empty pizza box (seriously how do you send out an empty box!!!???). After recifying the issue (by driving to the premises to complain) I can say that the overall quality is just is not as good as it used to be. Will not be back.

I was well attended to from the first moment, the delicious flavor of the Italian food was a surprise, good price and after walking along the coast for a few hours it was one of the best experiences in Belfast... especially after my friend had his first allergic reaction... the restaurant staff was incredible... Fantastic compact 18 hole golf course greens were really well looked after as rest of the course was some quite challenging holes so very enjoyable.

So first time up at Carrickfergus golf club matchplay. Course is in smashing condition ahead of Captains day. Fairways immaculate nice cut in the semi rough greens super tricky lots of pace and really have to read the turn.
Gotta keep the driver between the trees off the Tee so if your spraying it keep it in the bag!
Great welcome up at the club house have to say also great to see the bar and restaurant busy on a Thursday night.
Will be back in the not too distant future.

Actually really good, nice amount of variety with water, elevation and trees, some tight t-shots that require thought, and greens were in excellent condition. Was £35 on GolfNow, which is good value these days compared to some.
Only small complaint is that there are some congested t-boxes which play across each other, some brief delays but such a minor gripe.
Overall would very much recommend.

Bring walking shoes as you'll not get parked anywhere near the ground
The home ground for Carrick Rangers football club. It is very much something from the 70s with the away supporters having to stand.. Food is usually available via mobile burger van and it is decent enough quality if a little bit expensive.
The pitch itself is probably the worst in the Irish league with a slope that is bordering on the embarrassing.
Parking is limited but if you can’t get parking in the car park then you can park on the main road which will also help on your escape.

Lovely quiet little park in Carrickfergus. It's just beside Marine Gardens and slightly away from the sea. Perfect place to get a bit of shade on a sunny day. There's a book recycling point, where you can pick up a free book or leave one for someone else.

nice park. With lanes nice to go out, baskets for dog poop are. but no ordinary garbage bins.
I've been to Carrickfergus quite a few times and never noticed this lovely quiet little park before. This was a nice sunny afternoon and it was peaceful and stunning just perfect

Lovely park with lots of space. Unfortunately it also comes with lots of dog dirt too. Sad that people still can't clean up after their dogs. It's a lovely and peaceful park otherwise, however I spent most of my visit trying to steer my little boy out of the way of dog mess. There's a lovely little bench raising mental health awareness and a little bird box library beside it. The pond is lovely too. Well worth a visit, but watch your feet!
Nice quiet park. Well kept open spaces popular with dog walkers or people wanting to sit in peace in the summer. Occasional children's events held by the council.

If you've rolled into town like me not knowing a thing about Carrickfergus, this museum is a good educator of the town's history.
The museum looks like it charges money, but it's free to go inside.
Lots of artefacts and displays showing you the history of the town.
It's part of a larger civic building with a coffee shop and an art gallery, so it's worth checking out.

Very good museum showing Carrick history over hundreds of years. Really well presented stories and many artefacts on display. Completely free to visit, and will take up to an hour to go round if you study every case.
Well organised place with a cosy sitting area for coffee. Museum is good to visit with children.
Nice spot for a meal. We had omelette and side salad with sweet potatoes fries. The latter were nice and crispy. Bright, welcoming, spacious. Afterwards, we popped into the aerial photography of Northern Ireland display; which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Quite well-stocked shop, fast and efficient service
I've been to alot of shops but poundland in carrickfergus is by far the worst. Where to start? The shelves are constantly having gaps. Nothing ever seems to be tidied. The shop is just a mix and match half the time. The vape oils are all over the show. The fridges are a mess even early in the morning. You never see any staff on the floor unless it's coming to closing time. Only good thing I've seen is the staff on tills

I find poundland in carrickfergus to be an excellent store. Its prices CANNOT be beaten. The staff are the friendliest people I know. The staff are always on hand to assist with any query or product I may be looking for and I always get a friendly chat. They REALLY do care about their customers. Brilliant shop and brilliant staff. Everytime im in the shop, thers never bags its always the £1 bags. And i mean everytime, yes you do get bargains but come on £1 for a bag, ur having a laugh. Wont be buying too much in it from now 0n
Brilliant, has everything you need. From battery's to toiletries and more stuff you won't get in even the big stores. I recommend this shop highly
Because this place is a litter bit out of the way, people think its not worth the while to walk a few extra steps.
But boy are they are missing out on a great shop, go on give it a try.

Tesco Extra in Carrick is highly recommended for its spacious layout and well-stocked shelves. Customers praise the large Jaffa oranges as the sweetest and juiciest they've had in a long time. It is accessible, clean, well-lit, and usually busy except during midweek shopping hours.
Great fry and toast and tea. Just over £8. You cannot beat the quality anywhere for this price.

The Store Layout is rubbish. I hate shopping in Tesco now. It just does not flow right. The freezers and chillers should be at the tills. The only way to logically shop is anticlockwise to end at freezer chillers. Add in the fact that Cards and Flowers / Gifts should all be together. Not opposite ends of the store. The old store layout was better as you actually went round more Aisles now there are dead zones where very few people venture making purchases and footfall from those aisles likely lower. A rejig defo needed because ease of shopping and flow trumps analytics. If you want to keep customers coming back you got keep them happy. This layout does not.
Did you pick the new aisle order out of a hat? There's absolutely no order to the store at the minute. The signs at the end of aisles don't help. Some aisles can only fit one trolley at a time. I advise people go to sainsburys instead.
Normally easy enough to find your desired item of purchase, and prices aren't too bad. Regularly stores items for that time of year for eg. School clothes, Halloween stuff, Christmas stuff, etc etc. Staff are friendly and can help direct you to anything you are looking for.
The store also includes a specsavers area, a small upstairs café, toilet facilities and a bakery area, and an area where you can print off photos. Overall I would give the shop a 4.6/5 rating.
The best tesco in Carrick. Lots of room walking round and very well stocked shelves. I can absolutely recommend the large Jaffa oranges. They firm but yet ripe and soft inside, the sweetest, juiciest oranges I've tasted in a long time in fact since I worked on a farm in Israel 20 years ago. The staff are exceptionally helpful especially Lisa in the fruit department.
Great staff. Great prices usually always busy unless you shop midweek. Great selection of household items and clothes and of course groceries. Staff are always very courteous and helpful.
They have installed £1 coin onto trolleys, yet they will not supply any plastic coin to use when at the store. Most people don’t carry cash these days! When asking about the plastic coin, I was told to buy some scratch cards and he will add a £1 cashback! Seriously. Carrickfergus get a grip of your store, worst Tesco I have ever been in.
VERY VERY bad customer service. We had bought a curtain and it was not the right size. I had the receipt also to return it. They insisted they cannot take it back for no obvious reason … You will lose your customers with such a BAD service. I will return it to another Tesco

I don't usually review but after what I received I feel I had to. £10.80 for this and my hand was bigger than it!
Last time I ordered from here I got a doner meat on chips and it was huge, almost enough for two people so we went for a chicken kebab on pitta and was bitterly disappointed! Don't see how you can charge over a tenner for this we got about 4 bites it was appalling for the price...
The Moghul is a favourite, absolutely fantastic food. My favourite is Dopiaza, Bhuna and Balti. I cannot fault the food quality! The food is amazing and the price is excellent (good portions).
Got a chicken pakora on chips tonight. The last time I was there it cost me ,£8.00 something tonight a month or two later I was charged £13.00 for the same meal. I asked the young lady behind the counter is this price correct and she looked at me and said chicken pakora on chips is £13.00. I can't believe this price increase and therefore will not be returning I'm afraid.
Ordered kebab. Arrived on time. But was disgusting. Totally tomato, sorry totally bad tomato based. I think someone tried to mix Greek and Turkish. Failed. All in the bin, made toast.
Order 2x chips gravy tub,curry tub and a mixed kebab waited over a hour for the food whats not a problem. The problem the food is ice cold the chips have zero heat and are soggy the tubs of gravy and curry are ice cold and all the the mean in the kebab was cold to the touch waste of £28
Absolutely rotten food. £26 quid for two kebabs supposed to be mixed shwarma, nothing shwarma about it apart from the tonnes of kebab meat stuck on it to disguise the lack of "steak and chicken". Said delivery was zero then the guy hit me with £2.70 for delivery at the door. Won't let me upload a photo on this review
Just had a chicken dopiaza delivered and it was delicious, great flavour just the right amount of spice. Best Indian food I've had since I moved here. Will be only ordering from the Moghul from now on. Looking forward to trying more of the menu.

To put in in one word: cute! This is by far the smallest Wetherspoon I have ever been to! Not like to big, crowded once you are used to! But: Service was perfect! Food was good! Right in the middle of town, less than 5 min walk from the castle. Inside and some outside seating!

On a welding job in carric we found a spoons as everyone knows the prices are cheap the food it's self is ok but it's not served hot but here it's was surprisingly good compared to most , see pics ,
Visited Sunday evening. Some items on the menu and some tap beers at the bar were not available. What was available, was prepared or poured correctly. Prices are still keen, albeit after the covid lockdowns the menu has become less interesting: some Asian additions and some European removals. The Gourmet Steak meal is greatly missed. Working hours are being quietly shortened: the food used to be available until 11 pm, now if you walk in after 9:30pm, you chance a partial or complete unavailability of menu choices.
Very good place to visit. Well situated on the Antrim coast road at Carrickfergus. Lovely views of the sea and castle from the upstairs room. Good selection of real ales and drinks with a very good food menu served by helpful and friendly staff. We enjoyed a really nice curry there last week. Nice surroundings with the castle and harbour to visit, coastal walks and some interesting shops. Would suit family groups. Strongly recommend.
Great spoons. Toilets on the ground floor!!!! Ulster fry nice, as a 🏴🇵🇱 visitor was welcomed by the staff. They even lent me a charger plug. Spot on
The staff at Witherspoons Carrickfergus are great, but unfortunately, the food has gone downhill fast, from being alright to quite bad. I used to look forward to going there for breakfast every day, especially since I suffer from critical heart failure and it's one of the few opportunities I have to get out of the house
