Durrës Amphitheatre is a 2nd-century CE Roman amphitheater built by Emperor Trajan, boasting a capacity of 20,000 seats. Located in the heart of Durres, Albania, this historical site offers visitors an authentic glimpse into the ancient past. While exploring the city, travelers can immerse themselves in local culture and reminisce with Albanians about their cherished memories.
Loved this archaeological site that feels very much still in discovery. It was 300 Lek well spent. Signs provide helpful information and background. Guides are available if you want. We enjoyed roaming around and exploring this amazing location that has so much yet to be discovered.
Julie S — Google review
The area is a mess that could easily be cleaned up. The place is beautiful, but it needs a thorough renovation. There are a couple of signs on site describing what you are looking at. The tour duration is about 20 - 30 minutes. In any case, it is a "must see" in Durres
Juraj J — Google review
Didn't go in as most of it can be seen from outside. Looked interesting though. Area is steep with narrow streets so best to walk and not drive. Entry to the site was 300 Lek so not expensive if you wanted to go in.
Stephen J — Google review
Very lovely place, we did not pay entry, nice to walk around. Some steps so be mindful of accessibility. They are still excavating some parts so will be even better in years to come. Not too busy
Isla B — Google review
The amphitheatre is close to the center and just a few minutes walk from the beach. It's a Roman amphiteatre and the largest amphiteatre in the Balkans having a capacity of around 20.000 people at it's peak time. The staff speaks English, payment can be done by cash or card. It's a nice little place to visit. Having some toilets would be really good. Around you will find on the main road shops and places to eat and drink.
Daniel A — Google review
Well preserved site and the biggest Roman Amphitheatre in Albania. The authorities are wanting to do more excavation to reveal more Roman structures but are currently hampered by the proximity of local houses around the site and haven't yet reached any agreement with home owners to buy them out. You get a good view of the Amphitheatre from the low fence surrounding the site, but it's still good to go into the site (300 lek) to see the tunnels under the seating area and get close up to the structures.
Miles M — Google review
We had a very good visit to the Durres Amphitheater. The historic site is as built in 200AD by the Roman Empire. It has stood the test of time like all Roman structures. The architecture, engineering and workmanship has endured for nearly 2000 years. It’s great to be able to stand and walk around a place that has been around for almost 2 centuries. It was a great experience.
David D — Google review
It's a very cool site. However, when I arrived it would have been nice if the attendant had pointed out the sign showing that they were closing in 25 minutes or said something about it or maybe done a sweep to make sure no one was inside before leaving. I came back up the steps at 14:12 to find the gate was locked, the ticket booth was closed up and I had to climb the fence to get out. Much to the amusement of a tour group who were unable to get in.

SEMA is a remarkable restaurant situated in the historic area of Durres, offering a breathtaking view of the central fountain from its second-floor position. The staff is known for their amiable and attentive service. Positioned in the main square, this eatery is praised for its delectable cuisine, with highlights such as grilled seafood and fish roll. Visitors highly recommend indulging in the irresistible Ferrero Roche dessert.
Very tasty food at this restaurant. I liked the design of the dishes. Service was great and the restaurant itself looks very good, very clean, nice tables. I stopped for a quick lunch, however I would be happy to return for a full dinner.

Food was amazing butt they didn’t have 2/2 things I wanted to eat haha. Ended up with the veil steak and it was very tasty. Thank you!

Nice restaurant in the heart Durres, good selection of dishes, most are fish dishes. We stopped for a quick light lunch. Staff were welcomeing and helpful. Food was fresh and tasty.
Julian C — Google review
A nice restaurant in the upper tier in terms of location and decor! Located by the town hall in the old part of Durres! the staff friendly and service minded! The food is quite ok, not a place to run your legs off for, but if you have the roads by, it won't be completely wrong in any case to get in here! Price-wise just above average, not expensive! Unfortunately, you can not sit and eat at the outdoor area at the entrance! Located on the second floor!
Rob — Google review
There are lot more better places then this one. This restaurant is very small, like 10-15 tables tops. When we came to the restaurant, there were like 6-7 tables occupied. We went here from our apartment like 3km, so you can imagine how thirsty we were. So we came here, got the waitress attention after 10 minutes, another 10 minutes until we order. We ordered two linguine with sea food, two ceasar salads, two Coca Cola zeros, glass of red wine and five big bottle of water. We were 4 girls, we wanted big bottle for each other and then I wanted one more for myself, because I was thirsty a lot and I drink like three litres a day normally. She came with ONE water and the other drinks like 15 minutes after ordering. We asked where are the other bottles, because we wanted one for each and she told us we could share one together. First of all it’s none of her god damn business if we want to share or not, we specifically told her five bottles and second of all she then brought us only three so in total we had four bottles even though we asked for five. Like I found that very rude! Mind you the restaurant was half empty and when we came the table behind us went home and she didn’t even clean it the whole time we were there. There were literally two plates to clean. Then the food came, it was okay, not the best sea food we had, but it did the job to fill us up. When we came to paying, we wanted to pay separate and she already printed out the receipt and she told us, that one needs to pay and then we can sort it out!!! Like are you serious? This waitress was the useless, rudest person I have ever encountered. I only give this restaurant one star for the food, which I kinda enjoyed. And about the hygiene of this wannabe fancy restaurant? You can see in the pictures a bug which was climbing the walls on the toilet and it wasn’t just this one bug. There were multiple.
Mišel K — Google review
Loved the presentation of every dish! A stunning restaurant inside out. The dishes could be improved though- the fish fillet was overdone, the dessert was quite monochrome- not much layers of taste / umami to the chocolate nor the ice-cream. Still a nice place to go to for a glass view of the exteriors.
Ruby — Google review
The best option whatsoever… the service is, undoubtedly one of the best in town, and I would say THE BEST, if I would have visited all the top restaurants in the area. Of all 5, this is one is the winner. Tasty food, good wine list and the waiter Emilian, is the star ⭐️. Thank you for the great dinner experience. The octopus (hot appetizer) was simply delicious, so were the fish rolls with shrimps and the veal steak. Strongly recommend!
Ray R — Google review
Great fresh fish with beautiful flavours. Had lunch , the atmosphere was a bit flat and was surprised they didn't serve wine by the glass. Overall cannot fault the food, the seabass was the best I've e er eaten.

The Venetian Tower of Durrës, also known as "Torra e Durresit," is a significant historical site that reflects the city's rich past and strategic importance. Built in the 15th century by the Venetians on the remains of a Byzantine tower, it stands as a testament to the city's fortified history. Perched atop a hill, Durres Castle offers panoramic views and provides insight into the city's medieval heritage.
I was surprised by this tower. Not very big, but quite beautiful. The surrounding modern pedestrian bridge, the night lighting and the open space make it look even more unique. A perfect and beer pleasant evening walk, with a scoop of gelato from the place next door.
Ognian V — Google review
Durrës Castle is the fortified old city of Durrës, Albania. It is enclosed by city walls built in the late 5th century, and repaired and reinforced in the Middle Ages and early modern periods. Had a nice walk around the tower. The gate is closed though it’s written that it’s open. The area is very cozy, surrounded by many shops, restaurants and cafes. Few steps will let you be near the beach of Durres.
Abu F — Google review
This tower is one of the most beautiful and iconic monuments in the city, an important historical symbol. It is part of the old 15th-century Venetian fortifications. I didn't go inside, but the round structure from the outside is very photogenic. From what I researched, there is a fee to enter.
Luana B — Google review
As a Senior Citizen you get a 50% discount (300 lek) which makes a visit inside good value. Two parts to this attraction, firstly the views from the top of the tower, not that high but still gives another perspective on the surrounding area. Secondly the round room inside with its domed ceiling provides the canvas for a projection of the historic life of the city. Additionally you can use the VR headsets which gives a 360 degree views of different aspects of the Roman city eg Gladiatorial combat.
Miles M — Google review
We went to early so we couldn't get in,as it had a certain entry time, then it was too late on the way back. Really beautiful view at night tho.
Dorcas F — Google review
Close to the beach, not much to see other than the historical respect from outside. Inside they do short video shows which could be worth a view if interested in history
Nabeel M — Google review
Probably the best spot in the city to admire the sjnset. You can't miss this piece pf the history as it's located on the promenade, so you will spot it easily while taking the walk.
Beca S — Google review
A 5 minute video show that consists of some good visuals and a little history, and a dangerously wornout staircase to a tiny open terrace with telescopes that do not work. Don't waste your time, or money.

It offers a sophisticated and elegant atmosphere with stunning views, making it an ideal choice for a romantic dining experience. The attentive and friendly service adds to the overall appeal of the restaurant. The menu features premium seafood dishes that are fresh and delicious, including options like beef mushroom pasta and grilled shrimp. Additionally, the restaurant boasts an excellent wine selection to complement the exquisite meals.
Really good meal, highly recommend. Prices were incredible. Service was incredible. Lovely decor. The toast was tasty with the cheese, we liked it a lot. Octopus, salad and fried fish were nice, as were the desserts. We never had chance to try more things from the menu, wish we had

The view of the boardwalk is superb! The atmosphere is inviting and... The food is delicious. If you're a tourist, note this is a fish-first restaurant that serves fish, with pasta, you won't find many of your "regular" pasta dishes here, but there are some. If you like seafood pasta, this is your spot! 🐟 🥧 The pasta is just the right level of al dente. The sauce was a great consistency and taste! The fish was super fresh. The servers were great. Everyone who came to our table knew at least some English and was very kind answering questions, explaining dishes we hadn't tried before. Two small concerns we had: Food came out at different times for different table members (starters / mains). We'd planned on sharing some dishes to try so this made it a bit awkward. Communicating allergies - they did great, no epi pen required, but it took some work to get there. But for an overall experience, we'd highly recommend it.
Sam D — Google review
Even though we arrived before the official opening time (which, by the way, is different on Google than in reality), we were warmly welcomed and seated at probably the best table in the place – with a beautiful view of the sea. We were immediately served water and a small appetizer, and within minutes came the fried seafood – possibly the best I’ve ever had in my life. Truly fantastic flavor, freshness, and preparation. The other two dishes – risotto and black tagliatelle – were also excellent, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. We’re sending 5 stars to the restaurant and thank the team for a truly pleasant experience. Amazing food, lovely setting, and kind staff – highly recommended!
Vojtěch B — Google review
An unforgettable dining experience at Pastarella! We had dinner here tonight and it was truly amazing. The food was top-notch—especially the grilled squid, which was fresh, tender, and flavorful. It was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented—easily one of the best seafood dishes I’ve ever had. A big thank you to our waiter, Clyde, who was incredibly kind, professional, and attentive. He took the time to explain the menu, make great recommendations, and make sure we had everything we needed with a smile. His service made the experience even better. I highly recommend this place if you’re in Durrës—come for the food, stay for the view, and leave impressed by the service. We’ll definitely be back!

absolutely amazing food! really good service and very fancy atmosphere, great wine list and would highly recommend to tourists visiting duress. sea bass ceviche had to be a standout for me!!

Great restaurant on 3rd floor with private elevator from the street. Delicious house red wine, pasta, salad, etc. The view is the best part - open breezy windows to look out at the promenade and sea - reserve for sunset to see pink clouds ☁️ and be sure to dress up a bit!

I went to Durres for day trip. Being an Adriatic sea city, I definitely must have seafood. This restaurant is named fish restaurant, so I supposed is professional. Indeed it's good quality fresh fish & well cooked. I had the recommended best & most expensive fish, wild Gilt head, Lek7500/kg. The restaurant is 5-star atmosphere, service is standard.

It's beautifully arranged and the entrance fee is only 300 Lek (around 3 euro), unfortunately at the time I have visited, the upper floors were closed for maintenance and new articles prepared for the next exposition.

Interesting, but... Only the first floor was open to public. 25 euro seemed a lot for a 20 minute visit. Very hot inside.
Alexander B — Google review
The museum is established in 1951 and it is the largest archaeological museum in Albania. It is not very big so there are plenty of artefacts (mostly pottery) outside of it. Most of the artefacts were found in the nearby ancient site of Dyrrhachium and includes an extensive collection from the Ancient Greek, Hellenistic and Roman periods. If you are in the city, visit this museum.
Daniel H — Google review
I wish there were more exhibits inside the museum, it is kind of small. Very interesting nonetheless - everything is carefully curated and displayed pleasantly.
Jonida K — Google review
Good museum. Quite cheap, so you must visit it. Performs good antique archaeological goods (pods, tools, jewelery), some of which are renovated, the other part is new. Unfortunately, second and third floor of this beautiful museum were closed and I am unable to tell you about them. The overall look of museum is good, it is worth to visit it.

With its inviting atmosphere and excellent service, it's an ideal spot for enjoying a satisfying dinner. Whether you're craving fresh seafood or flavorful sushi, this restaurant promises to deliver an unforgettable culinary journey.
My family was desperate to have Asian food and found this in Durres. Staff's were very welcoming and kind. The food was fresh and very yummy. The presentation of the food was top class. We were surprised by free welcome quick bites and the final desert fruit platter. Prices were nominal. It's definitely worth visiting this place in Durres. Highly recommended

As a sushi lover, I can totally approve that this is my favourite sushi restaurant. The best sushi that can be found in whole Albania. Never had any inconvenience in this place during all these years. S1 and S5 are must try!!! We had these take away and i took us less than 20 minutes to get them.

There’s just something extra special about eating sushi while enjoying the sounds of the sea. I’m very glad that the restaurant doesn’t play loud music so I can listen to the water. The staff are very professional and friendly, the sushi was tasty and the atmosphere was relaxing! 🍣

Nice restaurant where you can try some Asian dishes. I had salmon nigiri with tempura. Sushi could be a bit more tastier and a bit bigger but at the end you can't find in Durres a lot of these dishes. Tempura was nice and crispy. I would recommend everyone to come and to give it a try. And for the end some music would be nice just to have a feeling that you are in a restaurant

This is a gem of a restaurant in durres with an amazing view of the sea I went here with my friends for a birthday dinner and they surprised us with a plate of sweets on the house. Over all was a great experience and I would highly recommend.
Ardi P — Google review
My experience at this restaurant left me with mixed feelings. While the service was excellent and the atmosphere was enjoyable, the food fell short of expectations. The seafood salad was below average, with preserved seafood that was difficult to chew, paired with an overly acidic sauce. The tom yam soup contained only two shrimps. The seafood pizza was just about edible. Despite these disappointments, I appreciated the nice atmosphere and enjoyed sitting outside. Overall, I would rate the restaurant three stars primarily for the service and atmosphere, but it would have been two stars if not for those aspects.
Eka M — Google review
Ceasar salad and chicken wings were quite good. Would rate those two dishes 4 stars. Those were the only good things, because the sushi wasn't. Would rate the sushi 1 star, because it was eatable, but not tasty. The service was good and friendly, and we received our food fast. The view was also nice but be aware of a lot of beggars.

Disappointed and Frustrated This was our first time dining here, and unfortunately, it will also be our last. Despite arriving early and being amongst few tables seated, we were left waiting for over an hour—with a 2-month-old baby with us—while at least 5 other tables who arrived later were served before us. No explanation, no apology. When the food finally arrived, it was a huge letdown: bland, underwhelming, and absolutely not worth the high prices. We had heard good things, but our experience was far from it. Service was inattentive, and overall, the visit felt like a complete waste of time and money. I would not recommend this place, especially for families or anyone expecting decent service and food that matches the price tag.

In the heart of Durres, The Wall pub is a vibrant and well-decorated bar with a charming outdoor terrace. Situated near Bashkia, it stands close to the ancient city walls. The establishment offers an array of snacks, food, beers, spirits, and cocktails. Patrons praise the potent and flavorful cocktails mixed at the expansive bar. While some found the food to be a mix of great dishes and slightly dry meat, many appreciated the friendly service from English-speaking staff.
Nice chill pub in the centre of Durrës. Good drinks options. A dew different beers to choose from, draft and bottles!

The cocktails are very good here. Really strong and tasty, like they should be. They have a huge bar where they can mix almost anything you want. The food was kind of a mix, some of it was great, but some of meat was a little bit too dry for my taste. The service was good for the local standard, the waiter spoke English and was quick and friendly. I would very likely visit this place again for their cocktails and to try other dishes.

We were surprised to find this amazing place, after refusing to get into other bars that were charging $10 for the entrance and then $15 for a cocktail (Oborri Lounge & Traiano Lounge). At The Wall we had no entrance fee and drinks had the right price and great quality. Our server was amazing, even though his English was not good, we were able to communicate without any issues. The chicken wings were to die for and we only paid $3 for 12 wings. Thanks The Wall for keeping the traditions of great Albania and for not being greedy and abusive with the rates like the other bars in town. I will definitely advise everyone about this place and come back again

Restaurant
Rooftop XV is a delightful restaurant situated on the 11th floor, providing a breathtaking view of the Adriatic sea. The menu offers a variety of local dishes, including baked cheese with filo and honey, fresh pasta, and delectable desserts. The interior boasts modern decor and reasonable prices. Whether you choose to dine indoors or outdoors, you'll be treated to panoramic views of the city. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
A great spot we ran into in Durrës with a great view of the city. It was always very fresh, large Greek salads, and good dishes that they served. The reason I pulled down the service a bit is due to they sometimes where a bit slow to notice you but always worth the wait.

The place is absolutely stunning with amazing views. I loved the ambience. However, the service was not up to the standard and same goes for the food. The treatment we received when we initially arrived was actually quite disappointing. There were slight improvements with time (as we were visibly annoyed) but it was kind of too late.

Food was really awful. Grilled shrimps were very bad, super cold and they had no taste at all. Potatoes were cold and it felt like they were not fresh at all. Cocktails were very bad also. Service was awful, we felt unwanted and waiter didn’t care about us at all. When we told them that shrimps were very bad, the just said “oh okay”. They just need you to pay and leave. For the prices like that I was expecting a bit more. Sunset was nice. (photo of grilled shrimp meal that costs 1350!!!)

I contacted them through Instagram just to make sure I didn't need a reservation, they responded pretty quickly. I went there for the drinks and to watch the sunset, they have a great view of the city and the adriatic sea!!! I actually didn't realize until I was leaving that the deck goes all around so you could walk and see all points of the city. I ordered the spritz and it was good, I do prefer mine with a bit more of a fizz. Flavor wise it was pretty good. Cheers 🥂

Beautiful restaurant located on the 11th floor. You have the option to dine, have a drink or have a coffee inside or outside. There is a panoramic view of the city wherever you sit which makes the experience one to remember. The staff were very friendly and really helped us with menu choices as it was our first visit. I highly recommend the baked cheese with filo and honey it truly was delicious. We enjoyed the fresh pasta which was suggested by the staff followed by very tasty desserts. The restaurant itself has a stunning interior with modern and tasteful decor throughout. I would highly recommend it to anyone who finds themselves nearby.

Great views, above allure side overlooking the port. Staff professional, paused and helpful. Even though everyone says it is quite an experience option, I may say the price is average for the little option on this category place in town. Nice wine list and seafood is delicious

One of the best views in town. You can see much of the city from here. The place is great and everything is clean and neat. The facilities are spacious and plenty of room. THE SERVICE The waiter was very good and friendly.Very helpful as well, so that was great. What about food? We are not very satisfied with it,that is why 4 stars. The Salmon was liiitlebit overcooked and the youghurt sauce was over it,not on the side, which was wrong. The patatoes as a side were not very fresh that why we got another plate of just potatoes. The rice with seafruit was good and the goat cheese with pastry was excellent,it was their speciality. I recomend that speciality... The salad was fresh as well... So make sure you tell them how you want your food before it is ordered. As the saying goes "And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them"-some people in service industry haven't understood this yet but they are learning. In the end, they gave us a plate with fruit for free since we were not really satisfied with our order. Otherwise I recommend this place...

Restaurant
Mema House in Durres, Albania is a top dining destination offering an exceptional gastronomic experience. With a 5-star rating, this restaurant provides professional service and the finest Mediterranean cuisine flavors. The menu features a rich variety of traditional and international dishes made from high-quality ingredients. Whether for lunch or dinner, Mema House caters to group events and celebrations, with options for takeout and delivery.
I wanted to try something traditional for a change, and Mema House did not disappoint! I had the oven-baked lamb with potatoes, and the flavors were absolutely incredible. The spices used here — maybe coriander or cumin — are rich and aromatic, bringing a warmth and depth that we don’t always get back in the U.S. The slow oven roasting truly brings out the best in every ingredient. I also tried the seafood linguine, which was equally delicious. You can tell the seafood is incredibly fresh — straight from the sea, and cooked to perfection. The staff were kind and welcoming, and I was especially impressed to learn the chef is a woman — such a talented one at that! Mema House is a gem for anyone wanting to experience authentic Albanian cuisine in Durrës. I’ll definitely be back!

Warning - cash only after 11pm!! What a silly rule. Lucky I had some cash in my wallet. Menu was good and staff spoke English. Decor was nice and location is great. Salad was big size and boring. Lamb was a bit fatty and with bones, but tasty. Dessert looks like it was bought, not homemade, looks exactly like ones sold in a cafe nearby. Prices were acceptable. Stars would be higher if they took card payment. Also, I suggest you arrive early evening as I noticed that as you go past 10pm the staff eat meals themselves and they generally become less attentive - they are busy talking, eating and cleaning/ preparing for next day

We had a mostly great experience at Mema House. The food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. We started with the grilled prawns — they were a bit bland and unfortunately arrived slightly cold. However, the meat with potatoes was excellent, full of flavor and cooked perfectly. We also tried the cheese croquettes, which were a highlight — crispy and comforting. To finish, we ordered a chicken dish that was supposed to come with rice. Sadly, the rice had run out and it was served with potatoes instead, without any prior notice from the waiter. This left my wife quite upset, as she was specifically looking forward to the rice. Overall, we enjoyed the meal and would consider returning, but a bit more communication would have made the experience much better.

Close to the city center, we found this charming spot offering truly authentic Albanian flavors. Locals recommended it as one of the best places in Durrës to try traditional dishes – and I wasn’t disappointed. Everything we tasted was delicious, the atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming, and finally, a place where service worked smoothly and English was well understood. A genuinely good dining experience all around.

We had the most amazing traditional dinner at Mema! We ordered the shared mixed traditional platter and every single dish was perfect, rich, authentic, and full of flavour. As someone who is ethnically Albanian I can honestly say this is the best Albanian food I’ve ever had at a restaurant. We flew all the way from New Zealand and now Mema has become our new favourite spot in Albania. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a true taste of tradition!

They sell delicious national cuisine here, as well as excellent mussels and mixed fish. The waiters are very polite and talkative. I was here almost every day of my vacation. One of the best places in Durres, in my opinion.

The food is decent and reasonably priced. The experience is somewhat spoiled by the tricks that they play to force you to pay in cash ("machine is broken", etc). If you stand firm, the machine may miraculously start working again;))

It was an amazing experience coming to this restaurant with our family. We shared almost all vegetarian appetisers and they were all amazing. Don‘t let yourself shy away from how the restaurant might look from the outside. Inside it is very clean with a nice friendly atmosphere. We were absolutely blown away by the food and the prices were very reasonable as well. The waitress was very kind and helpful, she recommended local Albanian cuisine and made sure we didn’t miss out on anything yummy. And she spoke English. She was funny too and very nice to our child which made the whole experience even better. The best meal we had in Albania. Would be happy to come back - over all a 10/10 experience ☺️
