Saint Florent in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Saint Florent, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Saint-Florent is a picturesque harbor town on Corsica’s northern coast, set on a sheltered gulf backed by mountains. It’s a popular base for boat trips to the Agriates Desert and its renowned beaches, including Saleccia and Lotu with their clear water and white sand. The compact old town and citadel overlook the marina, where cafés and restaurants line the waterfront. Nearby, the Patrimonio wine region offers easy access to some of Corsica’s best-known vineyards and wine tastings.
With favorites like Saint-Florent, Lotu Beach, and Le Popeye, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Bar de l'Europe and L’Orizonte so you can get the best taste of Saint Florent while you’re here. Nature & Parks
Lotu Beach, also known as Loto or Lodu, is a serene and unspoiled beach located in a desert wilderness area. Accessible by boat or a coastal trek, it offers a remote vibe with verdant hills, white sand, clear sea, and the sound of cicadas. The wooden jetty and small lake add to its charm. Cabane du Lodu provides delicious grilled prawns and speculoos tiramisu along the coast path.
Took a speed boat from Saint Florent over to plage de Lotu. Go for earlier in the day as it becomes more populated as the day goes on. Also worth paying for the smaller speed boats as there are around 6 on the boat and you arrive giving plenty of time to find a spot to pitch your towels. Bring an umbrella and food and drink as nothing on the beach though a 10 minute walk along the coast gets you to a restaurant. The sand is beautiful soft white sand and the water like a swimming pool. Safe for smaller children. One thing to note is the cows / bulls on the beach. They appear quite placid and leave you alone mostly if you leave them alone, however they tend to decide where they sit and sit there regardless of whether you are also sat there. We twice had to move our beaches and belongings as they came and sat on them. It was no bother as we chose the beach to see the cows as well as the scenery but just be aware that they do roam and you can't argue with them. Very well worth a trip and enjoyable.
Paul W — Google review
One of the best beaches of the island, very clean water. Part of a national park so don't be surprised when you see cows lying in the sand. We took the boat from Saint-Florent to get here. The only negative is the private boats "parking" very close to the shore, i found that prettg dangerous
Costas P — Google review
Couldn't get the hype about this beach as it is very mediocre in terms of swimming and water quality. Not worth coming here only if that's your plan. Also be mindful about jellyfishes which seemed to be in numbers close to the beach. Bitten by one small one while warning others about their presence. Not a big issue but there are many other beaches that you can enjoy unlimited clear water.
Mustafa U — Google review
Very beautiful beach, only thing I would say is that it’s a lot more crowded than the photos say online. So just expect people there if you go in end of august other than that, very beautiful beach and the water is truly incredible!!!
LOUDHOUSE — Google review
One of the beaches in St Florant you need a boat or 4 wheel drive vehicle to reach. This is the most organized. With a line dividing boat from bathing people. Restaurant close by. Simple. Harbor for popeye co boats. Very nice beach. The sand is amazing. A bit bizzy during the season. Even on a Wednesday in September. No WC. Clean up yor trash please and take it home.
Jon B — Google review
One of the best beaches in Corsica. Water is very clean. You can reach there by boat from Saint-Florent. There are no shops, no facilities, only nature. Vey calm experience even with crowd in high season.
Kushant V — Google review
Nice beach but not worth to hike there or pay for a boat ride. There are other nice beaches that you access way easier
J S — Google review
The beach is amazing, too bad it is ruined by people who forget their trash and place their thing behind the fence put in place to protect the dunes... If it was supposed to be a "wild secluded beach", oh well IT ISN'T anymore, it's a lot more crowded than most beaches in Corsica actually Please be respectful of this wonderful place and be responsible and pick up your trash. Other than that, the beach is amazing with perfect turquoise water and fine sand.

Boat tour agency
Le Popeye is a popular boat service known for its efficient and friendly transportation to Lotu and Sacchia beaches. The staff is praised for their excellent service, fair prices, and availability of rental equipment like snorkeling masks and umbrellas. Customers appreciate the opportunity to see dolphins during the journey and commend the company's super-friendly service. The experience of traveling with Le Popeye is described as safe, enjoyable, and reasonably priced, making it a convenient choice for reaching the beautiful beaches of Lotu.
Took a boot to Plage de Lotu with our 18 months son. You cannot go to Saleccia with a small baby because only tiny taxi boats go there, but Plage de Lotu is equally gorgeous. Better to go early in the morning and come back for lunch - is not possible to eat on the beach due to very aggressive vesps. Plus it gets very windy around 11-12 pm. Water is amazing! Some cute wild cows pass by :) worth it the money! When is St Florent should definitely pass by :)
Gaia B — Google review
The kings of Lotu and Sacchia beaches. And they know it. Just as arrogant as you can be when you take the control over the natural money machine outside the coast. They do it well and the service is good. Safe trip out in the rib and the big blue home again from Lotu. E aware that you don’t loose your feet from the ground
Jon B — Google review
Excellent service, friendly staff. No overcharge for beer and ice cream. Available snorkeling masks, umbrellas for rent at fair prices. The pier at Lotu beach is simple and efficient.
Pier M — Google review
Disaster. Paid for the boat trip and off-road in advance and since they could no longer provide the off-road trip, we agreed to cancel and get our money back. They promised that the money would be returned within 1-2 weeks. It's been a month, there's no money and no one is responding to the email anymore.
Aleš G — Google review
Great experience! 👌❤️😍 If only the owners of big, luxury boats could leave their boat on the port and take Popeye taxi boat I think they'll have much more fun! 😉
Sarbu A — Google review
Can't say anything about tours, but zero complains about transfer to Lotu/Saleccia, highly recommend
Zimmi1337 — Google review
We used the taxi boat service to Saleccia. No problems outbound but our return boat never appeared. I managed to get through after a few telephone calls to find there had been a break down. When the next boat arrived this was full and other passengers were suggesting we disembark as we'd missed our time slot! No assistance from the driver.. no refund available at all. Beautiful beach, disappointing response to a problem
Marc R — Google review
We booked 3 adult tickets online. Depart was 15min late even though they ask people to show up “at least” 1h in advance on the website. We booked the return at 17h, 15-20min later no boat on sight. We called and they said “oh no one told you? There was no return at 17h today”. We waited for 50min for the boat to show up and took the last way back at 17h30. Don’t use this service if you expect it to be on time. The perks: ice cream and cold drinks available to purchase on the big boat back to St. Florent.

We were able to visit this old "Citadel" in the busy tourist beach town of Saint-Florent, Corsica, France, yesterday with our grandson. We were delighted to discover a free parking area near the ancient fortress and actually there happened to be another free parking area even closer to the castle above our spot. There are remnants of the ramparts which are easily accessible by foot. The views of the town of Saint-Florent are quite stunning from up here and make for some gorgeous photos. It was just a mere pittance one paid to enter the castle which was built in the 15th century or 1439. As luck would have it there was an interesting Corsican art exhibition on the top floor along with detailed descriptions of construction of this amazing fort. We highly recommend you make this one of your stops before or after you partake of the many water sports down below the "Citadelle." Thanks so much "Citadel" of Saint-Florent as you really impressed us Floridians from the U.S. of A.

Not that impressed with the whole area. Yeas, there are many tourists and quische bait shops. The citadelle is not renovated and the area has a deserted look.

The Sentier du littoral is a delightful coastal footpath that offers an easy hike through the Agriates desert. The trail showcases the beauty of the Mediterranean scrub and provides a pleasant one-hour walk along the coast, with opportunities for swimming at Fiume Santu. Starting from the customs officers' car park, hikers can embark on a 6 km, two-hour journey to Lotu soyaggia, with options to extend the hike to Saleccia or Ostriconi.

This trail is fantastic! From Saint Florent we went to Lotu beach, it's about 20km return. It's really worth it. Seascapes are marvelous, you can swim in very secluded tiny rocky beach along the way. There are not many people so you can swim in the nude most of the time, be respectful. There is only one section where you have to walk in the water for 10m. The max depth is about 1.2m, so put your swimsuit, put everything in your backpack and do the crossing, you won't regret it. There are a lot of seaweed at the bottom, just don't think about it. At the Lotu beach naturist are tolerated at the north, it's ideal to relax before going for the way back! 🏖️🩴☀️🏊‍♂️

(Translated by Google) The hike is super nice! I advise you to park at the end of Saint Florent beach at the free parking lot at La Roya beach. The start of the hike to Lotu Beach is rather flat, you walk on a small path along the sea. There are some magnificent coves for swimming. To access Lotu Beach, the end is a little more difficult with a small pass to climb, but the climb takes less than 30 minutes. If you are a good walker you can go to the lotu without worry, otherwise, the beaches and coves on the way are some more beautiful than the beach itself. A little more than 10km 175m height difference 2h40 to go there (without too many breaks) The return trip is possible but very sporty! There is no water on the way, no restaurant/grocery store etc.

(Translated by Google) Superb hike! Magnificent landscape! I advise you to bring water because there is none on the trail but when you arrive at the Lotu beach, you can quench your thirst and eat at "La Cabane" which is a great place and a great reward! If you are not motivated to return, a river shuttle (10€) will take you back to Saint Florent (then plan to park not far from the port) (Original) Superbe randonnée ! Paysage magnifique !

(Translated by Google) Beautiful route. I left from the port of San Fiorenzo and arrived at la plage du lotu and returned with a ferry (I hadn't booked before and I didn't have any problems even though I was with my dog). For about 3 hours you cross dozens of crazy coves! Bring water and food because you can't find anything until Plage du Lotu. Highly recommended (Original) Percorso bellissimo. (Translated by Google) It's more than just a path; it's a wild ribbon between sea and scrubland. A few words to capture it: A legendary coastal path, leading from Saint-Florent to Lotu Beach, then to Saleccia. Cliffs, secret coves, scents of immortelle and rockrose. Accessible on foot or by water taxi for the more adventurous. It's also the gateway to the Agriates Desert, a sandless desert, scorched by sun and silence. An ideal place to walk with the wind in your face and the horizon as your compass. This beach is a very low standard after visiting so many great ones in Corse! The water is shallow and super warm, at the shore level many seaweeds of brown colour but the worse is the micro and not so micro plastic everywhere on the shore and in the water! We tried to have a swim but honestly had to get out cause it was so polluted with plastic! Many families present when we visited with little children (I personally wouldn't risk my child to ingest plastic while playing in the water).

Beautiful and clean beach with warm, shallow water — perfect for families with young children. The calm conditions make it a very safe and pleasant place to swim and relax. Great spot for a laid-back beach day in the sun. Highly recommended! Towards the north (left side) of the beach, the water is especially shallow and warm — ideal for small children and also dog-friendly. The south-east (right side) of the beach is more suitable for swimming, with deeper water, but there’s a bit more seaweed and the water feels slightly colder. Something for everyone! ⛱️

(Translated by Google) Fire, view, and soul: an unforgettable Corsican feast There are restaurants that nourish, and others that leave a lasting impression. Here, it all starts with the view, a breathtaking panorama, worthy of a postcard. And when you add to that the warmth of the owners, you quickly understand that you've come not just to eat, but to share a moment. Their kindness is disarming. You can feel the passion, the real kind, the kind that shines through in every gesture, every plate. The meat? It's the art of fire in all its mastery. Wood-fired cooking commands respect: the flank steak arrives blue yet hot, smoked just the right amount, with that slight charcoal flavor that enhances the meat without overpowering it. Alongside, a chimichurri sauce full of character, and melting potatoes, almost like sweet potatoes without being so. Their deep, naturally sweet flavor makes them a signature dish. And then, the parmigiana… a marvel. Served piping hot, generously, with summer flavors that explode in your mouth: tomato, eggplant, melted cheese... a perfect harmony of sunshine and sweetness. The foie gras stands out elegantly: tender, balanced, without overdoing it. One word sums up this place: sincerity. If you love meat, fire, and real people, look no further. This is a must-try. I can only give it a 5, since I can't give it a 6.

The amiable staff and pleasant ambiance create a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. The wine selection is noteworthy and complements the delectable seafood options perfectly. Patrons can enjoy the mesmerizing view of the sea while relishing their meals.
Amazing place for lunch & dinner! Make sure to bring cash as it is cash only. Also be careful when you order the Languste; the price is per 100g and not per dish. We didn’t notice and had to pay 120€ for one plate… well… we still came back, smarter ;)

Located on a rock beyond the City of Saint-Florent and with great sea view this restaurant offers extraordinary good and fresh seafood and also meat. There are no vegetarian options, though. Dinner starts at seven, and service is very friendly. They speak English, and explain you the menu. I ordered tartare of a dorade and a fresh dorade. The tartare was fantastic, absolutely fresh and tasty. Also the dorade was extraordinary tasty. Prices are high, but they pay off the very good quality and also the portions are very reasonable. So all in all a place you have to be!!

We had a wonderful evening at Le Crique in La Florent. The location is absolutely stunning, right by the sea with a perfect view of the sunset – truly unforgettable. The service was extremely friendly and attentive, and the food was very good, definitely worth trying. It is a bit on the pricier side, but the atmosphere and experience make it worthwhile. The only downside is that they don’t accept card payments, only cash. In our case, the staff went out of their way to help us and we managed to pay via bank transfer, which we really appreciated. Overall, a lovely place for a special evening with excellent service and a breathtaking view.

Very nice! Friendly staff! Good wine. Very good sea food and excellent view of the sea ❤️ loved it ❤️ pay attention to the stairs when you leave the place at night, they don’t have lights over there 🙈 it’s an adventure

Despite having lots of free tables in the main deck a rude man told us that we could only sit on the outer area which was completely empty. Keep your nasty place.

Amazing location and view. The reason for the 2 star rating however is only accepting cash and being very far away from a cash machine. In this day and age, that seems insane.

Beautiful location makes up for high prices and poor service. We waited 1.5 hours for 2 main courses. Fish for one person was 42 Euro. Steak was basically raw when ordered medium. Overall price was just acceptable as they did not charge for the wine - not sure if this was a compensation for the waiting time or simply a mistake, I assume the latter. Go there for sunset!

French restaurant
Auberge du pêcheur is a French restaurant located in Saint-Florent, France. The owner, Damien Muller, specializes in fresh fish and uses the Ikejime method for fish preparation. The dishes offered at this upscale establishment include lobster, swordfish, and tuna, which can be enjoyed either raw as tartare or cooked as steak. The dining experience takes place in an elegant setting with options to dine indoors or on a charming patio surrounded by lush greenery.
We reserved a table here in advance having read a mention on the Michelin guide. As soon as we walked through the fish shop - owned and run by the father of the restaurant owner, a true passionate fisherman family - and enter the garden we felt a warm and familiar vibe yet elegant and charming. The owner is a master of hospitality: he welcomed us explaining the kitchen philosophy, their fishing technique which preserves the fish taste and texture and is respectful towards the animal (ikejime). Big sized fish such as tuna and swordfish are the heroes of the menu. We ordered the tataki and the sushi to start, then tuna steak (my personal highlight) and the fish soup. Everything was wonderful, taste, color, everything. Definitely our best dinner in Corsica.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner at Auberge du pecheur. The staff were excellent and the decor tasteful, modern, minimalist. Offering chopsticks to pair with the sashimi would have been a slight preference but overall, the food and wine pairings were delightful and we’d definitely go back next time we’re in beautiful, sunny Corsica.

We enjoyed our meal here, but felt that the main courses were a little too refined and masked the flavour of the fish. We not anti fusion cooking, but when you've got amazing fresh fish, we feel you should be able to taste that and not too many other flavours. That said the fish soup was incredible and the tuna and fois gras was different in a good way, which works well together. The service was excellent from start to finish and the wine options paired well.

A beautiful and modest restaurant from michelin guide, where you can have delicious sea food (in a silent backyard) away from the crowds in St Florent. Corsica is not short of great sea food but this restaurant was our favourite and we look forward to coming back. The chef is japanese and the fresh sea food is served in japanese style but also influenced by some mediterranean spirit. For the quality of the food / size of the dishes, the prices were reasonable: we had a shared appetizer, 2 fish main dishes, dessert, wine, coffee, if I remember right the invoice was somewhere in between 120-130 eur. The garden is beautiful and silent, tables are disinfected, white table clothes and flowers, the service very kind.

Good tuna restaurant in Saint-Florent! The restaurant serves great tuna (killed with Ikejime) and several other regional fishes. We tried the sashimi, the sushi and the tataki (the MUST). The service is great and the restaurant hidden behind the fish shop is really spectacular. You need to make a reservation otherwise you will not get a table. A bit expensive but totally worth it!
