Buckingham in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Buckingham, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Buckingham is a small historic market town with Georgian architecture, narrow lanes and a traditional market that reflects its long-standing role as a local centre. The Old Gaol, now a museum, offers insight into the town’s past, while the nearby University of Buckingham brings a student atmosphere and riverside green spaces along the Great Ouse. Just outside the town, the National Trust–managed Stowe House and its famous landscaped gardens provide one of the area’s main heritage and landscape attractions.
With favorites like Meadow Walk Shopping Centre, North Marston Pottery, and National Trust - Stowe Gardens, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Smarts Take Away and Bee's Kitchen so you can get the best taste of Buckingham while you’re here. Garden
Stowe Gardens, part of the National Trust, offers visitors a chance to explore 250 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens featuring lakes, temples, and monuments. The estate is home to Stowe House, a 17th-century mansion with enchanting gardens and secret temples designed by Capability Brown. The property boasts woodlands, secret gardens, and water features for visitors to enjoy.
Stowe Gardens is one of the most breathtaking landscapes in England — a true masterpiece of 18th-century garden design. Managed by the National Trust, it offers an unforgettable day out, blending nature, art, and history in the most spectacular setting. The sheer scale of Stowe is incredible. Sweeping lawns, serene lakes, hidden valleys, and winding paths lead you to over 30 magnificent monuments and temples, each with its own story. Every turn feels like walking into a different painting. It’s easy to spend hours just wandering, soaking in the beauty and tranquillity. The gardens are immaculately maintained, and there’s a real sense of stepping back in time. Whether you’re a keen walker, a history enthusiast, or simply someone who loves peaceful, inspiring places, Stowe has something to offer. It’s especially magical in spring and autumn when the colours of the landscape are at their most vibrant. The visitor centre is excellent too, with a good café, a shop full of lovely gifts and plants, and very helpful staff. There’s plenty of parking, and the welcome walk from the centre to the gardens gives you a perfect build-up before you reach the main view. Stowe Gardens is not just a visit — it’s an experience, a place that leaves you feeling refreshed, inspired, and slightly awestruck by its beauty.

Once you're near, follow the signs for the national trust parking, as there are several entrances. Its £17 per adult, National Trust members are free. Parking is free. Toilets available. Cafe. Book store. Small shop. The grounds are massive, with many many walks to be had, and you can walk even further through fields. The walkways are wide, and well maintained. Good for buggies.. This is one of the biggest National Trust places Ive been to, and an excellent choice for walking.
R J — Google review
WOW. Amongst the amazing treasure the national trust recommends, this was top of the list! The gardens, the monuments and the actual house were just mesmerising. We loved our trip and the whole vibe was just so peaceful and scenic. We didn’t see inside the house as we have left that so we can come back and explore it! We didn’t explore the gardens and the views were just breathtaking. I highly recommend visiting! And can I just add the amount of amazing fruit trees littered around are beautiful. We did pick some fruit (no signs to say we couldn’t, sorry!) Amazing day out

Who can resist the magnificent Stowe! A little bit of a walk from the car park, or fir those less mobile, a ride in the buggy. Beautiful parkland and buildings. Eat in the cafe or bring a picnic.
Susan F — Google review
Beautiful landscape dotted with monuments, temples and statues. Be prepared for a lot of walking on rolling undulating paths and grassland. It’s 800 metres from the cafe/shop just to the parkland entrance. Good shoes are essential. Lots of photo worthy views round every corner. The cafe serves excellent coffee and has a good range of savoury and sweet treats. Also an excellent second hand bookshop.
G F — Google review
Vast grounds, lush green scenery, and lots to see. In one corner about a couple of miles there’s glorious and historic building of Stowe School that offers information and display about the 300 years old dynasty and how they lived lavishly. Entry to the Stowe School building is £9 pp and must be booked in advance as it’s not a National Trust building. There are various statues, temples and old buildings in the vast grounds that are worth visiting. Plenty of walk and plenty to explore.
Mas — Google review
Beautiful gardens and scenic vast gardens. The house is additional ticket over the national trust ticket you purchase. There are plenty of big walks to take and enjoy the lake that has a lot of algae and lotus.
Nagaraj T — Google review
A renowned example of an 18th-century English landscape garden, developed primarily by the Temple family from 1717 onwards. The gardens were significantly shaped by a series of designers, including Charles Bridgeman, William Kent, and "Capability" Brown, transforming formal gardens into a more naturalistic landscape. The gardens are known for their lakes, artificial islands, tree avenues, and carefully placed monuments, including the ha-ha, which is one of the earliest examples in England. The gardens also feature over 40 temples and monuments, each with its own unique story and design. Great place, definitely worth a visit if you're a National Trust member, there is a lot of walking.

Historical landmark
Stowe House is a stunning example of 18th-century architecture nestled within the picturesque landscape of Buckinghamshire. Designed by Capability Brown, this National Trust property boasts over 250 acres of beautifully manicured gardens, making it an ideal destination for leisurely strolls and exploration. The enchanting grounds, complete with lakes and breathtaking views, also serve as a remarkable venue for weddings and various events.
We enjoyed a great tour of the house, learning about its fascinating history. I would thoroughly recommend this tour, there is also an interactive exhibition available to walk through. All the volunteers were very welcoming and had a wealth of knowledge about the house.

★★★★★ A Timeless Escape into English Grandeur Visiting Stowe House and Gardens is like stepping into a living painting. From the moment you arrive, the sheer scale and beauty of the landscape take your breath away. The gardens are an absolute masterpiece of design, with winding paths that lead you through a series of stunning vistas, classical temples, and serene lakes. Each turn reveals a new surprise, and you can easily spend hours getting lost in the artistry of the landscape. The house itself is equally magnificent. The architecture is a marvel, and the interiors are a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the people who once called this place home. The knowledgeable and passionate volunteers truly bring the history to life with their stories and insights, making the experience both educational and deeply engaging. What truly makes Stowe special is the feeling of tranquility and peace that permeates the entire estate. It’s a place where you can disconnect from the modern world and simply appreciate the beauty of nature and human creativity. Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or simply looking for a beautiful place to stroll, Stowe House and Gardens is an unmissable destination. I can't wait to go back!
Jeff F — Google review
Stowe House boasts a rich history spanning over three centuries, evolving from a manor house into a grand estate renowned for its architecture and landscape design. Featuring in productions such as: The Crown, X-men First Class, Stardust, Indiana Jones and James Bond, Stowe has a number of blockbusters, dramas, and documentaries to its name. We really enjoyed it, being National Trust members we booked the tour for free the day before, you do NOT get to see the whole house as it is a working school, with offices, (don't let this put you off) you can book to see it on the school holidays if you wish, but visit their website before you go not to be disappointed. What you do see is amazing, and the guide was great 👍. If you plan on seeing the gardens, be prepared for a lot of walking, they are amazing as well and worth it though.
Pete H — Google review
Ok. I think it's quite nice, but let's get the bad stuff out the way first. The entrances, and other areas of the park/house are very badly signed...we found ourselves driving down to the entrance of the School, not the House. The car park we parked in does not have an obvious entry and the exit is one way, so we had to break the rules....😵 There's a small "museam" area which doesn't really have any info on what is on show, you just look at it and there's a very hidden bookshop that's easy to miss. Second bad thing, the Cafe and the Shop are extortionately priced, with 2 ice creams coming in at a whopping almost 6 pounds and they could have been better, however there is a wide range of confectionary, cakes and other food items on sale. The shop has some very interesting and coveted items, but a fridge magnet was roughly 3 pounds. However, there are various interesting landmarks and statues around the (incredibly long) walk (again, no info about them or anything) but are incredibly photogenic and most of my photos I've put here. There was a nice lady on the tickets desk who was very helpful explaining the map and sorting us out with our ticket. The actual Stowe House and Boarding School is situated around halfway round, and has cricket grounds, a marquee, and a cafe open to the public. There are some incredibly cute swans who have just had ducklings (20th May) I recommend this place, just get some good walking boots and a map!
Seth P — Google review
Amazing place. The house is fantastic and the paintings are just terrific.
Ramesh W — Google review
Find out about the fascinating history of the house that has become the school. Learn about the rise and fall of the families that owned it and the fire sales that lead to the house having none of the vast treasure of antiquities that it once had and the recent restoration project that has restored the fabric of a number of the rooms, including their magnificent ceilings.
Ian R — Google review
Very friendly, helpful staff, who couldn't do more to go out of their way for our visit (we had a wheelchair user). Beautiful rooms. Nice to see a working school around the historic rooms.
Sir C — Google review
I visited on a Monday as soon as they opened. It was fairly quiet. The gardens are run by National Trust but the house is run by a separate charity, the Stowe House Preservation Trust. So NT members do need to pay for house admission, but they get £2 off. So NT folk pay £7.50 instead of £9.50. Very welcoming and helpful staff on at reception. There are about eight rooms upstairs that are open for the public to access. Stowe House has pupils from the school boarding here, so those areas are not accessible. Downstairs there are the Welcome Centre, Discovery Centre, the Egyptian Hall and a comprehensive exhibition of maquettes by the sculptor David Wynne, which is well worth viewing. I saw his River God sculpture in Newcastle recently and there is indeed a maquette for this included in the exhibition. The rooms are awesome and the ceilings breathtaking. The Marble Saloon is just stunning. It was definitely worth visiting. Fascinating place.

Buckingham Old Gaol Museum offers a unique experience, allowing visitors to delve into the history of Buckingham and rural life while exploring an 18th-century prison. The museum is also home to the Buckinghamshire County Museum, where guests can immerse themselves in artwork, wildlife, and archaeology. Families with children will enjoy the Roald Dahl Children's Gallery within the museum. The medieval marvel of Buckingham Chantry Chapel, the oldest building in town, stands as a testament to time.
built in 1748, originally served as a prison and was funded by Richard Grenville Temple, Lord Viscount of Cobham. Its construction, with crenellations and arrow-slits, was intended to resemble a castle, reflecting Buckingham's ambition to regain its status as the county town and host the Summer Assizes. In the museum they have, The Buckingham half-angel coin which is a rare gold coin from the reign of Richard III, minted between 1483 and 1485. It's one of only seven known examples and is notable for being the only one on public display. The coin was discovered near Buckingham by a metal detectorist and is now housed at the Buckingham Old Gaol Museum. Only a small museum, but for £5 we thought it was great.
Pete H — Google review
The Old Gaol is located right in the middle of Buckingham. There is a nearby car park which is cheap to park in. I believe this is the only museum here in Buckingham. Stairs involved. No disabled access. The Old Gaol combines a museum about Buckingham. You can enter several of the gaol cells which now has exhibits. There is information about The Salvation Army and a room dedicated to Flora Thompson, both on the ground floor. Toilet facilities available in the basement. This is a small attraction and shouldn't take you more than 45 mins to look around. Also opposite the front reception is town information office.

Well worth a visit. Very informative staff, great information at hand and a easy visit. Loved this town and the Old Gaol.

I found this museum when reading an article about the half angel gold coin there. As a coin collector and lover of history I had to go and wasn't disappointed. Lots to see and very cheap in my opinion. The staff were all very nice. The kids enjoyed it. I'd go again
Scott R — Google review
Beautiful building with a lot of history, not the biggest of places but some great displays and lots of information boards. You get to see the layout of the gaol and cells. Lovely friendly staff, a little gift shop on site. Entry fee very reasonable £4 an adult. For parking I advise using the car park by Waitrose, it is pay and display. Prices are reasonable and the gaol is a 5 minute walk. Definitely worth a visit.
Maria C — Google review
In the centre of Buckingham. Nice museum built around the old Gaol with some exhibits inside the cells spanning many years from the Saxon & Roman era through to the 1900s. Very interesting. Tickets £4 per adult. Parking is at nearby Waitrose car park - just 95 pence for 3 hours. Recommended.

A fascinating compact building. Showing history through time from earliest settlements through to WWII & even tv & film connected to the area. A wealth of information. Set within the high street you are able to grab a drink & a bite to eat. Also a market held there too right along side the gaol.

Gilt Swan Buckingham is a charming antique shop where you can find unique and fascinating items. The owner, Russell, is known for his expertise and honest appraisals without any pressure to make a purchase. You can take your time to explore the shop and have a chat with Russell about any items you're interested in getting valued. It's a small yet captivating place that's worth visiting for anyone with an appreciation for antiques.
I went in to potentially sell a ring I had inherited and there was absolutely no pressure whatsoever to sell. The man (I don’t know his name sorry!) was really lovely and reassuring and gave me the option to change my mind (which I did actually end up doing). Would absolutely recommend, excellent customer service and a really nice guy.

Meadow Walk Shopping Centre in Buckingham is a charming hub for independent shops like Cavavin wine shop, Leeders hardware, Charles Clinkard shoe shop, and Meadow Row florist. The center also boasts a variety of restaurants and cafes. While it may not have an extensive range of shops, the presence of a spacious Waitrose adds to its appeal. Visitors can enjoy reasonably priced refreshments at one of the cafes within the center.
Nice selection of shops. Great charity shop, Willen Hospice. Lovely eateries. Meadow Row Tearoom offers good everyday food at a super price. Lovely staff.

Still thriving, some interesting shops, and one of two hardware shops in Buckingham (remember them from t'old days?) which both seem to be doing OK. Deduct a mark for the small river of raw sewage after heavy rain between the hair salon and the cafe. Landlords take note, needs fixing...

Visited this little shopping arcade on a sunny weekend and was pretty impressed. Lots of non-chain shops, cafes / eateries, which is always nice.. Next to a big supermarket and plenty of parking. Had a nice lunch and an ice cream, and lots of green areas around to walk it all off after. There are toilets and EV chargers too. Only 4 stars as there was a bit of rubbish about and wayward trollies.
Tom A — Google review
Nice centre, not many shops, but large Waitrose. Had a nice cup of coffee and piece of cake in a cafe I can't remember the name of, something Tea Rooms !!. Well priced.
Chris B — Google review
The car park charging will stop me coming here from now on. Short sighted by council's always wanting to screw the public and at the same time screwing the retailers. Very short sighted.

Small shopping centre. Waitrose super market, a charity shop with a good selection of DVDs. Picked up the full set of extended version of Lord of the Rings in preparation for the Amazon prequel. Tea and cakes at on of the cafes. Parking nearby. Should have made use of the BP chargers while I waited.

Nestled in the heart of Buckingham, the National Trust's Buckingham Chantry Chapel stands as a testament to the town's rich history. Dating back to the 12th century, this remarkable structure has undergone various transformations over time, originally serving as a hospital before becoming a chantry chapel in 1238. Following a devastating fire in 1725 that ravaged much of Buckingham, this historic gem remains one of the few surviving buildings from that era.
The oldest building in Buckingham but much altered over the years. Home to a 2nd hand bookshop as well as some of the nicest Nat. Trust volunteers that I've ever come across. Well worth saying hello to them and learning some of the history of this fascinating building. My photo doesn't do it justice and the inside is well worth a look.
Phil W — Google review
Really welcoming, friendly staff. Not much in the way of history (there wasn't a guidebook and not much to look around). Really nice tea and cake though 🎂☕. 2nd hand book shop nice, good choice of books 📖. There is parking🚘 by the local supermarket. If you are already in the area it's worth stopping by.
Pink U — Google review
Rather over-enthusiastic guide (I suspect he was bored) who greeted me when I came in and then talked at me - very knowledgably - for what felt like a very long time until I had to stop him by saying my brain was full. It was a shame as I'd really wanted to browse the bookshop but ended up wanting to get out of there. Building itself is interesting and learning history, albeit in a smaller dose, preferably, was also.
Frances G — Google review
The Buckingham Chantry Chapel, the oldest building in Buckingham, has a rich history as a hospital, chantry chapel, and school, before becoming the property of the National Trust. It was originally established in the late 12th century as part of St John's Hospital for the poor and infirm. Later, it was converted into a chantry chapel and then became the home of the Royal Latin School. The National Trust acquired the chapel in 1912 and now operates a second-hand bookshop, tea coffee and cake, not much to look at on the inside really, still a very interesting building. Yes the volunteers do seem to be a little overwhelming when you go in, I think they are just glad to see someone. Free entry to everyone, only open certain days and hours, so check.
Pete H — Google review
A haven of calm and excellent cuppas with books too. Delighted we discovered this idyllic place and with lovely staff , maybe volunteers? Free entry and this venture supports the National Trust
Becky K — Google review
Nice place to stop for a coffee and a piece of cake, peruse the many second hand books on sale. This is a 15th century chapel with Norman influence in the structure which was restored by Gilbert Russell in 1875 and is now owned by the National Trust.I believe it is the oldest building in Buckingham once having been a school, hospital and church. The staff are very friendly and will happily tell you about the history of the building. Parking is non-existent so you will have to find somewhere to park nearby and walk there.

First time using this chippy despite only living 20 mins away. But it will definitely be our chippy of choice! Lovely and clean. Friendly, happy staff. Great portion size and lovely food. What more could you want?!

This chippy is bossing it! I ordered a large cod, small chips and a curry sauce, came to £13.60, which is ok if you are used to London chippy prices. The small chips was a good portion and probably more like a medium and the curry sauce was served in a cardboard cup the size of what you would have a standard coffee in! The chaps in there were pleasant to chat to. Proud to be from the beautiful island of Madeira as the photo collage proves. I loved the cod, was a good standard and decent chips too. I only wish I took pics of the meal. Just a heads-up, cash only but there's an ATM at the Post Office nearby. I would definitely recommend!

I have lived in Buckingham for years how did I not know about this place!! After climbing the stairs in the post office I found this no frills decor cafe. I was greeted by welcoming staff. I love everything about this place. The best is their all day breakfast. It’s my usual. Love Debby’s mom who is very friendly and welcoming. Such a quiet place out of the hustle and bustle in town but right at the center of the town so it’s easy to get there. Don’t go there if you are in a hurry, cos good things don’t come quickly 😉 Also, forget everything else and just enjoy the time.

Fantastic breakfast. So much for the money & it’s cooked fresh. Don’t be put off by the slightly slow service. Anyone who’s eaten here will understand why & how it’s so worth the wait. Can’t rate it enough! Started eating before taking pic…. Oops!!

Tricky one to review this. Let's get the negative out of the way. Do not eat here if you are in any sort of a rush. 10mins before anyone came to the table, 20mins before we got a drink, an hour before we got food. The counter to this is the staff are really friendly, the value for money is crazy and you really do get lots of food! Could be brilliant but the wait was just too long.

This place is the best value for money for breakfast! The women running the place are fantastic, friendly and can’t do enough for you. This is hands down the best fry up I have ever eaten from a cafe before, home style mums breakfast, portions are huge and quality of food is top notch, you can always tell a good breakfast by the sausage and these sausages are delicious, Wish we lived near as we was only passing through but if you get the chance to go here you won’t be disappointed

BANGING!! Trust me, if you like a good fry up. Look no further. The hospitality is impeccable and the food even more so. Come hungry.

Sandwich shop
If you're on the hunt for a delightful dining experience, look no further than Subway! This casual counter-serve chain specializes in customizable sandwiches and salads, catering to health-conscious diners with a variety of fresh options. Recently, I had an unforgettable visit where Steafen crafted my sandwich with exceptional care and kindness—truly elevating the experience. The consistency of quality at Subway is remarkable; every visit promises delicious combinations that never disappoint.
I had the best subway experience I’ve ever had with Steafen last week. He was so polite and kind and he made the sandwich with so much care. Honestly it was the best! I don’t live particularly locally but will be back for sure :)

What a stressful experience just to order a roll! Two people before me were stressed with the owners/servers not understanding English. Having to repeat several times and then still getting it wrong. Ours was simple...chicken, cheese lettuce roll. I didm't want the other stuff. Repeated it to them twice because he repeated back to me incorrect. It was so bad in there I coupdn't face ordering the other rolls. I paid and left....got to car...no lettuce. 3 ingredients I asked for just 3. Will I go back ?? Hell no !

Website literally states 'With all the fresh veggies and sauces you like.' When it came to finish creating my sandwich I was told that I would be charged extra for sauce. Having never experienced this before over the past 20 years of being a Subway patron I raised my concerns that this was not normal. I was told by the member of staff that the store manager had instructed them to charge extra for sauces as the cost of ingredients had increased. I asked where this charge was shown to customers and I was told it was not on display anywhere but they add it through the till. Not prepared to pointlessly argue any further and not wishing to have my sandwich ruined, I accepted the surcharge under duress. I then continued to payment when I realised that total did not add up to what I was expecting. When I requested the breakdown I was told that their fountain machine was not working and they were charging me extra for a bottled drink which I did not want, request or was not even told about until I queried the total. I tried explaining that I did not want a bottled drink and especially at an additional cost and their machine being out of order was not my problem. I was told there was no other option but to pay if I wanted a drink. I am incredibly disappointed by the service I received today. The receipt shows I was charged for a 'sauce dip pot side' £0.40. I did not order or receive any such 'dip pot' of sauce. I was also charged extra for a fault of the stores not having a working drink fountain. I feel have been mischarged under direction of a store manager who is looking to take advantage of customers to boost their profits.
Kris K — Google review
Staff not particularly friendly or helpful. Too busy arguing with each other than helping customers. Staff didn’t change gloves between meat and vegan orders, and were dropping bits of meat into the salad containers.

I visited today with my little girl, we queued and were going to order, she was just looking at the crisps when a member of staff went off at me for not keeping my distance, although their was only one person in front of us, the store was otherwise empty and we had masks on.Instead of telling me politely he chose to give me attitude so I responded back even more harshly, which my family had to witness. Not what I wanted for on Easter Sunday but he left me with no choice.I did not expect this at all especially in Buckingham, I was only visiting for the day. If the manager of this store is reading this can you have words with your staff on how they talk to their customers.I will not be going back there ever again even if I'm on the brink of starvation, unless I get some form of apology.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful culinary experience, look no further than Carnitas! This charming eatery offers an array of mouthwatering dishes that are sure to impress. From their tender pork belly, which is hailed as one of the best around, to delicious burgers and tapas options, every bite is a celebration of flavor. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it perfect for special occasions or casual outings alike.
This was a new experience and a special treat! The staff are warm and friendly. The venue is cute and cozy. The food was fresh and delicious! If you are looking for a hearty breakfast then this is definitely a place I would recommend!

Wonderful restaurant, top quality food, quick service. I ate nachos, Jamaican lamb curry and churros for dessert, and all of them were fantastic. I travel a lot for work and this is quite possibly the best lunchtime meal I've had in all my travels. Would love to have stayed in Buckingham longer to sample more of the menu!

Carnitas has become our local go-to place this summer. Every single time, whether it was brunch or dinner, the food was fresh, very well seasoned and varied. Staff always friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

This is one of our usual places to go to when we feel special about something. This time we tried their burgers: chicken and pulled beef. The service is always great and same with the atmosphere. It’s wasn’t too busy when went around 7 pm on a Friday but could see it was getting busier as we were leaving. Wheelchair access is available. A must try!

Great restaurant! Excellent service, food is very tasty and enjoyable. Only criticism is portions are a little small but we did do Tapas Thursday, so that’s to be excepted. Would definitely come again.

Day 2

West side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with Buckingham Nurseries & Garden Centre, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Bourton Park. All together, your day would be filled with about 4 hours of non-stop fun.

Buckingham Nurseries & Garden Centre is a well-established family-run business with over 75 years of experience in selling plants. It is highly regarded by gardening experts and societies for its extensive array of native plants and gardening supplies. The center remains open throughout the year, offering a wide range of plants and a well-stocked shop. Customers appreciate the helpful staff who provide expert advice on plant care.
Outstanding mail order service and delivery. Sintija and the team are always helpful, responsive and amazing. I wouldn’t dream of sourcing plant material from anywhere else. Chris is a great source of advice also. I cannot recommend Buckingham Nurseries enough.

Purchased x55 Little Red Robin plants. x40 arrived with leaf spot disease. Planted all 55 to give them a chance, however, eventually the 40 plants with leaf spot disease died. Kept Buckingham nurseries fully informed of issue sending pictures. Followed all their instructions on feeding to encourage new growth to no avail. They said to let them know by end of July the total number of dead plants so as they could be replaced under their T&C’s. Did this they then refused to replace plants and said they had been under watered. Avoid this company.

Great garden centre with plenty of variety and keen prices. Excellent cafe. Friendly and swift service. Great valued King's Breakfast

Best garden centre I have visited so far ! Has everything you need or want, lovely friendly staff as well. For us it's very important that dogs are allowed inside garden centre and even in the restaurant. So today we had lovely lunch there and good walk through with our puppy. I bought some trees and plant pots for very good price today. If you are looking for a good day out that's the place to go!
Sharu S — Google review
A wonderful garden centre. From the outside it looks deceivingly small. All of the displays and stock (especially the plants) are very well presented. The plants were well looked after and there was plenty of choice. I would definitely visit again if I was in the area.
Sam I — Google review
Had a really bad experience with the mail order side, didn’t help and when chasing an order I was told they don’t have notes (again not the customers problem) and that they have cancelled the order without any confirmation. The lady was rude, unhelpful and the delivery prices they quoted don’t match any other nursery. So Terrible I would avoid.

Fantastic Garden Centre! I can thoroughly recommend a visit to Buckingham Garden Centre. A great selection of indoor and outdoor plants and shrubs. A great cafe serving a good selection of food. The staff are always super friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking and well located.

Well, we buy plants & hedging and use the gardening expertise on site, so I can't comment on cafe & mail order. For us it works well and, as we travel a distance, we always 'phone before with our planned purchases to get advice & availability.

Bourton Park offers attractive play spaces for both younger and older children, conveniently shaded by trees. The park features a river that runs through it, creating a pleasant ambiance. It is also dog-friendly and provides free parking facilities. While the absence of restroom facilities may be a drawback, there are likely options within walking distance in the nearby town. Although night-time visits have limited visibility, the park seems well-maintained with appealing children's play areas.
Wonderful place to walk at all times of year. Only issues are how busy it gets in the summer and how many cannabis smokers the area draws! Could almost give Amsterdam a run for its money!
Jayco — Google review
Lovely play areas, one for smaller and one for older kids. All under the trees so nice and shady. River runs through the park. Dog friendly. Free parking. We came from a distance to visit so it was only lacking a toilet, although it looked to be a short walk into town where we may have been able to find one.

Excellent park with lots of secluded areas. Lovely mix of wide open grassy spaces, wooded areas and even a large enclosed area for dogs to run. Decent number of bins, outdoor exercise facilities and a great play park for kids. Lovely wheelchair friendly paths and streams. Highly recommend. Limited parking, maintenance and lack of cafe prevent fifth star but there are loads of cafes within 5 minutes.

The Larder at Manor Farm is an exceptional spot for a family brunch. The food is remarkable, served in a delightful and well-ventilated barn equipped with entertaining toys for the children. Additionally, the establishment adheres to covid safety protocols. The cappuccinos are excellent, generously sized and piping hot. Indulging in delectable treats like rich chocolate brownies and sausage rolls is a must during the chilly winter months.
Tucked away down a bumpy lane is a true gem of an place. We availed ourselves to the wonderful breakfasts on offer at reasonable prices. Excellent and very friendly service awaits you. Not to be missed if you are in the area

Stumbled across this place whilst driving back to Bristol. Saw the sign and took a chance. What a great surprise. Beautiful place, good simple food, cooked well and with efficient and attentive staff. Lots of little bits of interest for kids and some cats to meet while you’re there around the gardens.
Claire J — Google review
Found this little gem quite by accident really. Today was cold and rainy, the welcome was all but! The cozy little cafe was snug and inviting. Filled up fairly quickly so an early arrival will guarantee you a table. There was an acceptable wait between ordering and the delivery of the drinks and the food. The Latte was piping hot (volcanic) and not as full bodied - imo tasted like low-fat milk and filter coffee (the only complaint). The food was outstanding!! The eggs are bright orange (farm fresh) the pork sausage is made in house as well as the bacon and both are DIVINE!! Minimal salt which makes them delicious! Upon request I was given a ramekin of grated cheese and farm made seedless blueberry jam - hands down THE best jam I have ever had. Appears to have been made with little sugar, giving a delightful savoury taste and not overly “jam sweet”. The staff are friendly, informative and the service amazing. A young lady served us today and if there is an employee of the month award, she deserves it! I never got your name (sadly) but job well done young miss. The Cheese Room is a delightful addition to the farm as is the Butchery. Both offering amazing local produce! Yes many will say it is expensive, BUT if we were to support more local producers the prices will drop. Besides they aren’t all that much more expensive than the local Grocer, and their quality FAR outranks those of the Supermarkets. I love it, and we will definitely become regulars! Thank you guys!

We visited this lovely cafe for the first time today. We had a fantastic welcome; great food and the ladies went above and beyond to help me surprise my husband for his birthday. We will definitely visit again.
Deborah G — Google review
Lovely in many ways, this is a real working farm cafe with a nice ambiance. Lot's for the children to look at and do, nice food and very pleasant staff. Parking is all on the roadside, but the road is a quiet cul de sac. My only problem is that it's single small mug's of tea or coffee, not a good sized pot. Very popular for take away. Closes at 14.00.
Colin S — Google review
This place is dangerous!!! A cafe with a basic menu of excellent quality food and friendly service. A cheese shop with a fantastic collection of well kept cheeses. And a butchers that sells locally produced meat and will take orders for the things supermarkets just don't sell. I'm going to have to ration my visits or I'll go broke 🤣🤣

Pub
Restaurant
Nestled in the picturesque Aylesbury Vale of Buckinghamshire, The Crown Pub and Restaurant stands as a charming centerpiece in the village of Granborough. This delightful country pub boasts a spacious beer garden and an impressive selection of beverages, making it an ideal spot for relaxation. Visitors rave about the mouthwatering curries that pack a flavorful punch, while Sunday roasts are particularly popular—served with generous portions and rich gravy that leave diners satisfied.
Love the place, vibe and energy. Food is made with love and served with a smile. Particularly love the Sunday Roast… and the thali’s… Pairing of food with beer and my favourite Gin Tonic. It’s money well spent. Keep up the good work guys ! All the best !
Vandana U — Google review
My friend and I recently came to this pub and we ordered a starter and a main. The starters were perfect and couldn’t fault them. We both ordered the ham, egg and chips for main. Almost 24 hours later we both still feel sick. We explained to the waiter who served us that our ham was slimy, fatty, green and appeared raw. We asked for a plate to disregard the ham so we could at least eat our small portion of egg and chips. We then went to pay and £6 was taken off our whole bill. We called the owner on our way home as we felt this didn’t sit right. Spending £11.95 each for a few chips and egg is unacceptable as well as leaving hungry and sick. She said we could go back for another £6 refund. Owning your own business and treating your customers like this is unacceptable. Especially the looks and atmosphere the owner and staff created for us when we came to have a nice meal. The quality of your food is your fault, not ours. I would advise never to go into this pub for food as they are clueless about food standards, chill chain, basic hygiene and customer service. We observed a raw piece of pork was sat in the kitchen for at least half an hour on a hot sunny day. If you want to play Russian roulette and waste £60 on something that will not get refunded when I wouldn’t even feed it to my dogs, here is the place to visit!
Natalie E — Google review

Mid week lunch. The food arrived quickly, portions were generous. The chicken and chorizo pie was large a little dry and whilst did contain chorizo did not have much flavour. Strangely served with a meat gravy. There were two cask ales available. Nothing bad about the experience, just unremarkable.9

This is first and foremost a country pub, which seems to have startled some reviewers 😆. And it is a lovely one. Huge beer garden and a solid selection of beers. The curries were a revelation - delicious and really quite hot! Was here visiting a friend, and will certainly be back. And 2023 update - discovered they have whole dining area! Sunday lunch very good, and lots of space afterwards to watch the football and drink pints. Lovely welcoming pub.

Large garden, with swings and see-saw. Friend staff and good food. Very quiet at lunchtime so atmosphere hard to judge.

Fabulous country pub serving excellent food we went for the Sunday roast and was not disappointed. There was plenty of of it and lashings of the scrumptious gravy and a pudding to top it off. Would highly recommend, but book a table to avoid disappointment as it was busy.
