Gardens
Jardíns de Cap Roig is a serene botanical garden that encompasses a stone castle in a picturesque environment. Established in 1927 by Russian Colonel Nicolai Woevodsky and English aristocrat Dorothy Webster, the garden spans over 20 hectares and features more than 800 botanical species. It is renowned as one of the most remarkable gardens in the Mediterranean region.
One of the most beautiful Jardins (Gardens), with such a varied array of plant species from across the globe. We happened to come on a day that must have been quiet because the place was pretty much empty, bar maybe a couple of others who we saw maybe once or twice en route around the gardens. This meant it was incredibly peaceful - like we had the place to ourselves. We easily spent hours here, admiring the scenery, the beautiful views of the coastline and just taking our time meandering. - The gardens were clean and well cared for - Access was easy, and directions clear We would without doubt recommend this to anyone visiting the area to enjoy as a day out, we most definitely shall be returning when back. We also are aware that Cap Roig hosts concerts and events at its venue which is exceptionally intriguing, so perchance check out what’s on before booking your trip

Amazing experience...Superb place, absolutely wonderful views, it's like you're transported... the proximity to the ocean is absolutely divine... we felt extraordinary.. definitely we will come back.
Andreea M — Google review
Lovely gardens, beautiful views from every side and a lovely seating area under the trees for a nice break. Only downsides being chunks of it locked off, building work going on right in the centre and all drink places closed besides 2 vending machines. However the gardens themselves are stunning and well maintained.
Lee S — Google review
Great gardens overlooking the sea. Variety of Mediterranean plants. Palms, geraniums and cactus to name a few.
Annette R — Google review
So stunning. We visited in late October. (We took a taxi from Palamos and hiked the Camí de Ronda back. I highly recommend that.) There was still plenty of colour in the gardens but the weather was ever so pleasant, and there were fewer visitors than high season. We were impressed at how well maintained the entire gardens were.
L R — Google review
If you like plants and flowers and you want to enjoy a impressive view from the coast cliffs into turkies water with a lot of boats crossing - that's the place to go. Very clean and well maintained. Good infrastructure with clean toilets and a lot of separate benches to rest. A few paths are quite steep but doable and well developed. You can buy water and other drinks from a vending machine outside. There is nothing to buy in the park itself. If you like to take some impressive photos, here you go 😉👍.
Dittmar G — Google review
Views are amazing and you’ve 1000 different plants from all around the World! I feel like the entrance price is a bit high but the Jardin is beautiful

El Golfet

4.7
(1494)
El Golfet is a stunning protected cove in Calella de Palafrugell, featuring impressive rock formations and crystal-clear waters. This hidden gem remains relatively undiscovered, adding to its charm. While there are no facilities or services available, visitors can bask in the breathtaking natural beauty of the surroundings. Additionally, hikers can take a scenic coastal path along Cap Roig headland to reach this secluded and romantic bay.
Rented a car for a wedding and headed to Costa Brava the day after and came to this beach! A little crowded, but stunning clear water and good snorkeling.
Mahir K — Google review
We loved this beach. In late July it filled up by the afternoon on every day that we went, but we were still able to find spots easily (especially if you arrive before 10am). Great snorkeling and fun rock to jump off. We walked along the path from Calella de Palafrugell to get here. It took about 30 mins with minimal elevation change and was gorgeous!
Julie H — Google review
Beautiful cove located in Calella de Palafrugell, surrounded by high cliffs and crystal clear waters. Its easy access makes it a popular spot, so it can get crowded during peak season. However, it is definitely worth a visit because of its stunning scenery and relaxed atmosphere.
Roberto P — Google review
Very nice place, with the beach from the stones. If you want to catch the sun, better to go before 16
Daria M — Google review
Beautiful natural cove with high cliffs. Pebbles and good snorkelling. No facilities at all - bring all you need and enjoy nature.
Sarah B — Google review
No doubt, the most beautiful beach at Costa Brava.
Ines L — Google review
Nice beach with a bit of shade depending on the time of day. I would recommend water shoes, as the pebbles of the beach hurt some to walk on. The water is calm.
Paula R — Google review
The better I rate this place, the busier it will become 😂 For that reason I'll share some pictures taken in the weekend when the Spanish alalso enjoy their time off. There is no restaurant, just a lovely beach. Don't be afraid to lay down packed shoulder to shoulder with others, that's very Spanish. Enjoy!

Càmping La Siesta

4.3
(1012)
Campground
Nestled in the charming coastal town of Calella de Palafrugell on the stunning Costa Brava, Càmping La Siesta is a hidden gem for families seeking a peaceful getaway. Recently reopened and run by a warm and welcoming family, this campsite offers an intimate atmosphere that feels like home. During my visit in August 2024, I was delighted to find it pleasantly uncrowded, allowing for a truly relaxed experience away from the hustle and bustle of larger resorts.
Rating the "real" La Siesta Campsite here. After some time of closure it just restarted, run by the very friendly owner's family. When we visited earlier in August 2024, the campsite just opened and was having a few guests only - that gave it a really nice and familiar atmosphere. No other campsite on our Spain summer trip was this relaxed. Can only recommend, if you prefer a laid-back place rather than an amusement park.
Sebastian L — Google review
This camping is basically an abandoned camping that is being maintained by two or maybe three people. The bathrooms are barely ok and there is no swimming pool at all. Security is probably the worst I've ever seen (a bike lock around a gate with the easiest code you can imagine). They are somehow pretending that a tent parcel with a car is worth 51 euros on this camping, absolutely crazy price for what it is, maybe if they lower the price to 25 euros you can appreciate the "quiet" environment (close to a club that parties until 5am). All this said, it is a nice location in a nice town but the price is the second highest I paid in spain and the one that was slightly more expensive had infinitely better facilities. To put it short, a scam.
Lucian M — Google review
Perfect place, they started after a break, you can see facilities on their instagram. Lots of space, kind personel, 20 min by walk to a beach and lovely town. Big pitches with shadow, clean toilets. 41eur for a tent/caravan + car + 2 people without electricity. As they started it’s a lot of available pitches. Highly recommend, everything around is fully booked
Jakub M — Google review
Super friendly hosts. Great amenities with beautiful green shade around the whole park. Thank you!
Beatriz R — Google review
We are very happy to have found La Siesta campsite. We pitched our tent among the pine trees, so we had plenty of shade during the day and very atmospheric lighting at night, including the lighthouse which you can see in the distance. clean and Montse and the team are lovely, smiley and helpful. The village and the beaches are at walking distance so you won’t need a car for few days!
Carlos F — Google review
Great camping with ample space for tents. The hosts are very welcoming and friendly! Unfortunately we were there when there were very loud parties till deep in the night somewhere close, because of this we left one night earlier, but the hosts were very understanding and helpfull about it, they even let us stay during the day untill late so we could still enjoy the sea!
Marten F — Google review
Great place. Close to the city. Great great place. Very clean toilets and a peaceful environment Spend 3 nights at this camping and the people working there are amazing. Friendly , open , helpful. Loads of space and just a great camping if you want to explore costa Brava and experience true camping. Thanks again - Jonas - Maria s and Victor

Restaurant
Nestled within the stunning coastal town of Calella de Palafrugell, El Balcó de Calella offers a dining experience that is as delightful as its name suggests. Perched above the picturesque landscape, this restaurant boasts breathtaking views that have captivated many, including renowned local writers like Josep Pla. As part of the Hotel Sant Roc, it prides itself on serving exquisite dishes crafted from fresh ingredients sourced directly from nearby markets.
Such a great experience! My friend and I were celebrating her birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make everything special. The food was absolutely excellent and the wine paired perfectly with every dish. Not to mention the amazing view. Make a reservation, and enjoy!!!!

El Balcó de Calella is the elegant clifftop restaurant of the Sant Roc Hotel in Calella de Palafrugell. The hotel has been there for 70 years and just gets better with age. Our table overlooked the Mediterranean and was just picture perfect. We decided to enjoy a bottle of dry Cava as recommended by our waiter. It was crisp fresh and typically Spanish. My wife's starter was Ceviche of Scallop with picked vegetables. Wonderful combination and delicious. I decided to try the Carpaccio of Tuna with asparagus picked onion and pine nuts with a citrus and green herb dressing. Perfect balance of flavours. We both chose Turbot - one grilled with grilled vegetables and the other oven roasted with potatoes, tomatoes and garlic. The Lady Amarilla potatoes just absorb all the wonderful flavours. Both dishes were elevation, light and superb. We decided to plump for a dessert and delighted to have done so. My wife chose a creamy shoes cheese (similar to Greek yoghurt) with honey and pistachios while I went with a rich chocolate tart with marinated cherries, caramelised peaches, in green tea. Just a perfect end. We were blown away by the mask, the view and expert service.

Chez Tomas is a great restaurant with delicious food and drink. The owner was incredibly helpful, and we really enjoyed the starters. We would definitely go back! Additionally, they have live music which makes for a wonderful evening out.
Excellent experience at Chez Tomás—I ate here with 3 friends two nights in a row. The food is excellent w/ plentiful portions (great value for the cost), service was warm and attentive with great recommendations. We got many, many dishes across both nights. Highlights include: the green salad and especially the burrata salad, the small clams in herb sauce & the glass bread, the dorada & turbot, and a tarte tatin that rivals that of excellent bakers in France. Great wine as well. The calamares a la Andaluza were too tough and covered in too much of the house mayo (which was too rich paired with fried squid), but this was easy to overlook with so many other excellent dishes.
Christopher B — Google review
We came here looking for seafood. Considering it's a fishing village, our minds were set on eating some of those poor yet delicious marine animals. As a Mediterranean woman from a village close to the sea, my expectations were high—perhaps too high. The tallarines and musclos al vapor were alright, not the best I have ever had. Perhaps both were missing a bit of something—might have been salt. The calamares with curry were a good combination, though the curry sauce was a bit overpowering, yet tasty. The burrata salad was definitely my favourite dish: fresh and refreshing, perfect for a summer day. But the highest praise goes to the apple pie—homemade, sweet, and a delicious end to the meal.
Marlene G — Google review
Second time visit this year. Food and menu has been enhanced over the years and this year we found everything excellent - creative and varied menu seafood, meat and pasta offerings, perfectly cooked and excellent service. Don't pass it by!
John W — Google review
My review is based on comparing to the quality and taste of food of good restaurants in San Francisco, which are very high quality. A quite decent restaurant in the area. I got the burrata tomato salad and the sea bass. The burrata salad was lovely: very flavorful and a very nice combination of flavors. The only thing is that (1) it wasn't salty enough and (2) the burrata wasn't brought fully to room temperature before serving, so it was a little cold. The sea bass was quite good, nothing out of this world extraordinary, but fresh and good.
Irina I — Google review
Very calm and cozy place, ideal for a relaxed lunch or dinner next to the sea. The service was nice and fast, and the atmosphere is fantastic. The food is also pretty good, I’d say 4.5 over 5. The fideuà lacked a bit of taste, and the “xuixo a la brasa” was a bit dry but, overall, very satisfied. We will definitely return.
Xavi M — Google review
Excellent ! I booked for dinner after looking for recommendations and it more than lived up to the reviews. The staff were friendly and attentive. The fish was completely delicious and seasoned to perfection and complemented by a local wine! A wonderful experience and I would definitely repeat the next time we’re in Llafranc.
M M — Google review
One of the best restaurants in La Franc and Calella. After a 15 year absence we revisited Chez Tomas in July and August in 2025. In July we had tapas which is presented well and very tasty. August we went for the meat main dishes. I have the veal and it was truly fantastic. The portion sizes are generous, the atmosphere upbeat and really good service. One restaurant I will visit at least once everytime we are here.

Restaurant
El Didal is an excellent establishment with amiable individuals who offer helpful recommendations regarding the menu and wine selection. The sea bass dish comes highly recommended and should not be missed. Though initially intending to visit a tapas bar, all were fully occupied, prompting a visit to El Didal instead. This restaurant operates two shifts at 20hrs and 22hrs, making it an ideal destination for evening plans. Not only is the cuisine superb, but the service provided also exceeds expectations.
Best location in Calella. Great service by friendly staff. Very good food made with excellent ingredients. Comfortable chairs that add to the enjoyment and for those that want to pay a little extra unique fresh fish choices. Definitely come back.
Matthew W — Google review
The best thing you can say is that the location is beautiful. The food is awful and the staff are rude. Children are not appreciated either, and ours are very well behaved and thoughtful. There are better places nearby. Save yourself the experience.
Claire A — Google review
Only reason to deserve 2 stars is the location. It is definitely amazing just in front of the main shore of Calella de Palafrugell. The rest has quite room for improvement. We ordered the Lubina (fish) and the Steak. The Lubina was literally raw in the middle, despite the good taste of it since it was quite fresh it was not well cooked. I asked for the steak well done, and what I had was an almost raw fillet with 70% fat on it. The service was nothing special. The price was not too high it was market price, however even though the raw materials were good the presentation and execution were not at the level of the price or the Restaurant amazing setting.
Ezequiel A — Google review
Terrible food and dodgy service. The squid was just plain boring and the mussels were the worst I have had in Spain, suspected they were frozen! The Ibérico ham was not ibérico. The chips were oily and awful. One star for the wine, perelada collection which we chose and hadn’t been interfered by the restaurant. The bill came to €90 which was probably €80 too much…..! Never again…..
Paul ( — Google review
We tried to go here as all the restaurants were closing - even though the ratings were poor. I understand now why the ratings were poor, so well avoided. The guy at the restaurant just said they are fully booked at 3:30pm while half the tables were empty.
Abhinav A — Google review
This is my first 1-star rating for a restaurant I have ever done, but I honestly wished I had never entered this place: waiters are friendly but have not learned their job (e.g. serve meals together, wait to clean the table until everybody has finished, ask for feedback). But this might only cost one star in my review. The other stars are missing because the food was terrible: asparagus tasted like canned food, other sides like potatoes and vegetables were burnt, cold and tasteless. The best part on my plate was the fish, a sea bass, even though it had no spices with it at all. We shared our disappointment with the waiter, he took it professional but without a real reaction or apology. I had a slight feeling that he was frustrated himself.
Robin B — Google review
Great place. Friendly people. They advised well on the menu and wines. Sea bass is really worth a try! We actually wanted to go for one of the tapas bars, but they were all full. They have 2 shifts at 20hrs and 22hrs.
Pim P — Google review
My wife and I have been to this restaurant 10 times in last 4 years. Always great food and service (If a little expensive) went again last night, food similar to a POOR motorway takeaway at same price as previously. Wife had a starter of Spanish omelette no more than 3 eggs no other ingredients apart from a few chips pressed into it €11. Main course 70% fat and gristle chips two cold SLICES of courgette no sauce €19. Bill including 1 glass of white house wine and 1non alcoholic beer €74.50. Won't return. Only reason for 2 stars the restaurant 's location. 😡

Day 2

Center of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the center side of town. Start the day off with Platja de Llafranc, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Tragamar. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Platja de Llafranc, a beautiful beach situated amidst stunning natural surroundings, boasts a serene turquoise sea and has been recognized as an esteemed Blue Flag contender. Despite its relatively small size, the beach offers a range of amenities including sunbeds, water sports options, vigilant lifeguards, restrooms, showers and eateries.
Absolutely gorgeous beach! Small but very clean and nicely situated in a half circle bay with beautiful Caps on either side.

A delightful beach with really soft sand. My daughter loved it. Busy on a Saturday, but still easy to find a spot. We'll be back!
Tim C — Google review
Llafranc is like in a time warp I first visited in 1971 and it still has the same vibe. A classy little port with a cool and trendy feel ,a small harbour , calm swimming conditions. It's a steep climb up into the village but there's cafes along the beach. Clean and dog free in June but also surprisingly busy with a mixture of older tourists, wealthy working age and young families.
Karl P — Google review
Cosy little seaside resort. All restaurants seafood and fish biased. Nice ice cream parlours. Very limited parking in the area although easier and free in low season. Oddly there are more biker spaces than for cars. You can go diving or hire a boat from the prom but other than that not a great deal to get excited about.
SteveplusChris — Google review
Charming beach and community. It has coarse sand (not rock), which can still be rough of your feet. There are umbrellas and chairs to rent later in the morning. There is a promenade with little cafes, hotels, and shops. We swam and could see fish and even an octopus! There were multiple places to park.
Todd F — Google review
Exceptionally quaint and immaculately clean small tourist village on a small cove. Some local fishing still taking place. Situated on the costal walking trails so well worth stopping for coffee, lunch or evenings. Probably packed and best avoided in the summer high season unless you like lots of company and queues. In October it's was ideal.

Historical landmark
The Far de Sant Sebastià, also known as the Lighthouse of Palafrugell, is a picturesque landmark located in the town of Palafrugell on the Costa Brava in Catalonia. Built in 1863, this iconic lighthouse sits atop Punta del Castell, offering sweeping views of the Mediterranean Sea. Visitors can take scenic paths to reach the lighthouse and enjoy breathtaking ocean vistas.
This lighthouse offers a simple yet stunning view of the coastline and the sea, making it a great spot for a relaxing stroll. The area around it is perfect for a leisurely walk or a picnic, especially in the late afternoon when the sunset casts a lovely glow. It's interesting to learn about its history and the role it played in guiding ships along the coast. If you're visiting, don’t forget your camera, as the scenery can be quite picturesque. Just be prepared for some steps to get there, but the effort is worth it for the fresh air and scenic beauty.

Lighthouse itself is fine but the view of Llafranc is the best part! A great spot to catch the sunset and head into town for dinner.

Tragamar is a charming beachside restaurant located at the end of the beautiful Canadell beach. It offers a delightful dining experience with its airy room and outdoor terrace providing stunning views of the sea. The restaurant is known for serving delectable Catalan cuisine, particularly fresh seafood dishes and paellas that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. With its vintage decor featuring pictures of fishermen on the walls and wooden lamps, Tragamar exudes a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
What a gem! Delicious food, amazing service, great atmosphere. We visited twice on our trip, tried lots of the menu, all of the dishes tasted great. You could tell everything was fresh and they’d used quality ingredients. Lovely view of the ocean from the table. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent restaurant which is often penalized for its average service. The food is delicious, particularly their rice dishes! I’m from the area and can say hand on the heart that it’s among the best food around here. Make sure to book well in advance if you want a table! Big downside is the double-service setup that I find extremely inconvenient.

Nice restaurant, very happy with the food and drinks 🍹. I’ll try fresh fish 🐟 next time. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Thanks to chief. Please make your reservation before you go!

The sea view is stunning, but the experience was ruined by the grumpiest waiter I’ve ever encountered, and it didn’t seem like just a bad day. Besides that during my previous visit, I found a hair in my croissant. Beautiful location, but the service and hygiene need serious attention…

I have traveled the world and have never experienced such chancers. They charged us €185 for 1 fish. They told us they brought us the board and showed us the price. But we all thought it was per kilo. The most disappointing meal experience.

Mediterranean food with some modern takes on all sorts of dishes. Strong on fish and seafood, make sure you ask about the specials that may not be on the menu! I would specifically recommend you try as dessert “recuit de drap”, as it’s a local specialty that you won’t find in many places.

Location is just perfect by the sea and in the middle of a nice cami de Ronda - recommended a nice a walk after lunch to admire the beauty of this coast. Paella was really good and in general fish was super fresh. Service is just ok but it could be improved in terms of clients’ care.

Takeout Restaurant
Far Nomo is a remarkable culinary venture nestled within the iconic Sant Sebastian lighthouse, offering breathtaking views of the Mediterranean from its elevated perch in Llafranc. This unique restaurant combines the expertise of Grupo Nomo with Mas de Torrent to deliver an exquisite dining experience that highlights Japanese cuisine infused with high-quality Mediterranean ingredients. Guests can indulge in standout dishes like tender Gyu-fillet-niku steak and grilled Galician octopus, all while enjoying a chic yet relaxed atmosphere.
Set on top of a hill in a converted lighthouse. Been here a couple of times and would more than happy to come back. We go for the set menu which at Euro 50 is a bargain. Very relaxed, great service. One of our party recently discovers an allergy to prawns, they handled it brilliantly, offering alternates or extra portions if appropriate. Highly recommend.

Gorgeous outdoor setting and such a unique fun ordering concept. The food came out really quickly. The quality of the sushi is mid-range and some plates are better than others. A lot of the sushi rolls we ordered had too much sauce. However, it’s a relaxed environment and has a diverse menu that is a really good for families and picky eaters.

This Japanese spot offers a delightful culinary journey with its fresh take on traditional dishes. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it perfect for a casual night out or a special meal. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients, and each dish is beautifully presented. The variety on the menu ensures there's something for everyone, and the staff is helpful and friendly, always ready to recommend great combinations. The attention to detail in both food and service makes this place a standout choice for anyone craving authentic Japanese flavors.

What a fun and unique dining experience. They blend sushi with local flavors very well. The place used to be a lighthouse situated on a gorgeous cliff. You must sit at the terrace. Right across the restaurant is a gorgeous view point of Llafranc
Hamy N — Google review
My favourite spot in Llafranc, both Mar & Far are beautiful but Far is amazing with its incredible view. The tasting menu remains outstanding value for money and all food is delicious. My husband has a sensitivity to shellfish which he let them know and they went above and beyond to accommodate this. Loyalty programme also seems great, finally signed up for it on this trip.
Alice B — Google review
A beautiful and historic setting for a high-end sushi bistro. Lively, which means it can be loud when the tables fill. Maybe not the best place for a romantic dinner. The expansive menu needs to be studied before you sit down to avoid being blinded by choice. The special menu is appealing and great value BUT you may wind up buried in food. Ordering is by magnetic pegs on a numbered board. Excellent wine list that coordinated well with sushi. Very reasonably priced. Beer available. The food was extremely creative and artistically presented. It was considerably different than the sushi I enjoyed on a number of trips to Japan. I found some otherwise yummy sounding items flooded with sauce, the Ebi Chilli and the Maguro Tataki: just too much of a good thing. Favourites included the grilled Avocado Salad, the mini Maguro Taco and the salmon and scallop Hokkai Pepper Roll
Paul L — Google review
Far Nomo in Llafranc is, without exaggeration, one of the most incredible dining experiences I’ve ever had in my life. I went for the set menu, and every single dish was an explosion of creativity, balance, and flavor that left me speechless. From the very first bite, it was clear that this isn’t just food—it’s art. Each plate was beautifully presented, but more importantly, the flavors were perfectly tuned: fresh, bold, and deeply satisfying. The quality of the ingredients was outstanding, and the chefs clearly know how to take Japanese cuisine to a whole new level while respecting tradition. The set menu was a flawless journey, building in intensity and surprise with every course. One moment you’re savoring delicate textures, the next you’re hit with a wave of umami that makes you close your eyes just to focus on how good it tastes. It was adventurous without ever being pretentious, and generous without ever feeling rushed. The service was warm, attentive, and completely in sync with the flow of the meal. And let’s not forget the setting: overlooking the sea in Llafranc, with that laid-back Mediterranean charm, it’s hard to imagine a more perfect backdrop for such extraordinary food. Far Nomo isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience. If you love Japanese cuisine (or honestly, if you just love food), this place will blow you away. Easily one of the best meals I’ve ever had, and worth traveling to again and again.

Amazing location, amazing food, amazing service. It is a must if in the area. Pre booking is essential. Only negative is the desserts. Best avoided and fill up on the sushi. Best dish I had was no 28 "inoshishi no nikomi harumaki" (picture attached)

Restaurant Terrassa Terramar is a delightful culinary gem that offers an unforgettable dining experience right by the beach. Even on a rainy evening, guests have raved about the delicious offerings, including unique dishes like sea urchin and croquetas, complemented by exquisite olives and fuet. In 16 years of living in Europe—between Norway and Belgium—and a little over a year and a half in Spain, as well as having visited practically every country on the continent and others around the world, it was the first time I felt embarrassed in a restaurant. Not even in truly upscale restaurants had I ever received such treatment. After a long road trip along the Costa Brava, my husband and I stopped in Llafranc on the recommendation of a friend from Barcelona. Unfortunately, we chose this place to grab a bite. As soon as we arrived, the hostess asked if we had a reservation. I found it odd, as it was nearly three in the afternoon and there were plenty of empty tables outside, and only three occupied tables indoors while about 20 sat empty, literally attracting flies—yes, you had to share the space with flying creatures. The woman then spoke to a colleague, who barely responded, and she took her time deciding where to seat us. I didn’t care if it was a street-view table or in the back; I just wanted to eat and continue our journey. During the service, the same woman behaved far from kindly. We were near the entrance when a foreign family arrived—blonde, tall, the typical look common in the area, rich standard tourists. They were kindly welcomed and allowed to choose freely where to sit. That’s when I realized what had happened. We are Brazilian; we don’t look German, Dutch, Swiss, or Nordic, and we weren’t speaking in French or any language the staff might not understand. I even joked with my husband that it was his fault because he was wearing a shirt with a phrase in Portuguese that said, “100% Brazilian.” Curiously, the woman who gave us this “special treatment” had a Latin American appearance—I’d bet she was from Colombia or Chile. It’s worth mentioning that this isn’t a fancy restaurant, just a pretentious one. If you don’t look like a citizen of a wealthy country, this place isn’t for you. Despite the bitter taste of the service we received and having to fight off flies while eating, I was able to appreciate the food—it wasn’t bad.

Restaurant
Restaurant "Puerto Limón" is a hidden gem that truly shines, especially when you're in need of a delightful dining experience. After an unexpected turn at another venue, we were graciously directed here and found ourselves seated outside at one of the prime tables, which made our milestone anniversary unforgettable. The restaurant boasts stunning views right by the beach, creating a perfect backdrop for any occasion. The service was prompt and attentive, ensuring that our meals arrived quickly without compromising on quality.
So - after a mixup at La Blava, the very kind gentleman there (see my review for La Blava for this) - recommended to go here since they could be big enough to have space for us to “walk in” on a very busy evening At first, we were sat inside, but they did some magic (with much requesting from one of our group) - and sat us outside at one of the best tables possible And with that, my milestone anniversary was saved!! The food of course was divine!! We ordered croquettes, pulpo and artichokes - followed by the vegan and also seafood paellas All of which went down smooth But Fillipo, Anas and the guys at Puerto Limon were absolutely amazing. From accommodating us last minute outside, to attentive service, to giving us time to walk around for a couple of our party, and holding our wine until we were all seated - they were absolute rockstars And of course, wine options were great, and the desserts were practically inhaled, despite how full we were All in all - I cannot thank the guys at Puerto Limon enough for a truly magical and memorable evening in Calellas ❤️❤️❤️

Place with great view and even bigger potential. Nicely presented russian salad, vege paella looks great, but tasteless. Red or white wine, one beer, crew speaks English worse than tourists speak Spanish. Disappointment.

Restaurant with reasonable prices if you compare it with the others. The tapas and starters are very good but I do not recommend the paella or the fideuá. Little quantity of seafood. It is well located although sometimes there are people smoking on the terrace.

With a great location you would not expect the terrible service at this place. Very uninterested rude staff, to be found in a corner sitting on their phones instead of helping guests. Food wasn’t that bad though, had a tuna steak, but that could not make up for the bad, unwelcoming service.
Micha P — Google review
We liked everything we ordered: the fig salad, the main courses (corvina, tuna and bacallà amb semfaina), and the homemade cheese flan was delicious. The service was fast and friendly, and the view of the beach is unbeatable.

El Toc is a popular restaurant in Llafranc known for its diverse menu featuring meat, fish, and rice dishes. The outdoor seating area provides a perfect setting to enjoy the evening, with friendly and accommodating staff. The food is reasonably priced and offers generous portions, especially the authentic seafood dishes. Customers have praised the tasty and freshly cooked food along with the attentive service.
Very few restaurants are open at times during times that Catalonians don’t eat- which is fine, but places like this are appreciated for those of us traveling short periods in Spain and cannot (or don’t want to) adjust our eating schedules. The waiter who served me clearly knows how to serve and to a clientele that is international- exceptional service- best I’ve had in Spain ( mind you I’m not eating at Michelin restaurants but even so…). Food was good and the wine selection excellent as well!
Helen M — Google review
A smashing selection of food for lunch at a very reasonable price of 19.50€. Lovely goat's cheese salad, with strawberries, pine nuts apple, etc. Then sardines with potatoes and cabbage roll, and finally a massive strawberry and cream sweet course.

They weren’t able to accommodate us under the canopy but asked if we would be ok under the orange tree bang opposite and so fitted us in. Really helpful and polite staff that didn’t leave us out at all. Just tapas as we were saving ourselves for later along with some sangria. Food was tasty, seemed freshly cooked. Nothing to complain about at all really. But we feel as though we’ve had better tasting tapas elsewhere so hence the 4. It’s probably a 4.5 for us.

Platja Fonda is a picturesque and unspoiled cove with coarse-grained sand, surrounded by cliffs and accessed via stairs. It retains a natural and scenic charm due to its somewhat challenging access. While lacking in services, it is ideal for activities like snorkeling or simply relaxing on the sand and enjoying the clear waters. The beach offers a peaceful spot for swimming, although it may not be suitable for young children due to its steep seabed.
This place is heaven! Mesmerizing landscape and peaceful environment. You can also walk to Cala Aiugablava following the stairs. Definitely my favorite spot in Begur. Go early otherwise it’s difficult to find a parking lot.

Hidden Gem on the Costa Brava – Platja Fonda We visited Platja Fonda recently and absolutely loved it! It’s a peaceful, unspoiled beach with crystal-clear water and a very natural, untouched vibe. Unlike the more crowded touristy spots, this beach feels like a quiet retreat — perfect for relaxing or taking a refreshing swim. Be aware that there are quite a few steps to get down to the beach, but it’s well worth the effort. The coarse dark sand and rocky surroundings give it a special charm. Bring water, snacks, and anything else you need, as there are no shops or facilities nearby — which is part of what makes it so peaceful. Definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a calm, beautiful spot off the beaten path. We’ll be coming back for sure!

Probably my favorite beach in Costa Brava. Get there early if you plan on driving for a parking space. Clear and calm waters that are great for snorkeling and swimming. If you’re daring, there’s a wall you can jump into the water from. Make sure you pack out what you pack in.
Krystle S — Google review
Very chilled little beach. Some cool cliff diving - 3/4 m - at the north end
Alexander K — Google review
Amazing, secluded beach - great for kids and jumping rocks at either end. Sand is coarse so not the BEST for sandcastles… no big buildings overlooking… real feeling of isolation
Indrojit B — Google review
We went on a Monday evening at around 17h00 in the first week of October. The beach was okay, not really enjoyable as the beach is at the bottom of a hill and the sun doesnt reach the small beach area due to the massive rock structure surrounding the beach. Google maps parking lot guide is also far off, there is a nearby parking lot close to the beach which we missed on Google maps. Had to walk for 7min to get to the beach.
Enock H — Google review

Beach
Cala Marquesa Aigua Xelida is a stunning 82-foot-long beach nestled in a bay surrounded by rugged cliffs. Accessible by steps, this small but beautiful enclave is located in the municipality of Tamariu, Palafrugell. The path leading to the beach winds through pine forests and Cala Pedrosa, offering an unforgettable natural beauty. This cove is perfect for audiovisual productions or photo shoots due to its magical charm.
The sea color is beautiful, you are surrounded by trees and feel yourself as part of nature. The parking lot is small, come early to reserve the lot.

Very quiet (at least during the week days) and serene spot for swimming and chilling. Rocks and stones instead of sand so water shoes would be an advantage if you have them. No shops or places for food so come prepared.
Room M — Google review
If you are into rocky small beaches this one is for you! Pure Baix Emporda spirit, with its rosie rocks, the pine trees, the sharp cliffs and the amazing Costa Brava sun light. Access to some zones can be challenging and it's not recommended for people with reduced mobility.
Alex S — Google review
Update after second visit. While snorkeling or whatever within the low water area, were the vegetation is, everyone should try not to step on it as it is destroyed. Come, enjoy it and leave it intact. Beautiful coves, perfect for snorkelling (quite diverse, go to the left side as you face the sea). The beach is small, I would say it has a max 75 persons capacity. It is rocky, so swimming shoes are recommended for the general population. There is a small free parking before you reach the beach. There is a marked swimming lane to Tamariu 1,2km.

Amazing beach with no waves, tranparent water and very quiet. If you walk in the trail on the left you also see amazing views.

Outdoor Activities
Tamariu Beach is a charming seaside location on the Costa Brava, offering a perfect summertime getaway. The compact sandy beach is surrounded by pine-covered headlands and features a promenade lined with shops, restaurants, and cafes. The pristine waters, thick sands, and cute fishing boats create a top-notch Mediterranean setting that's one of the best beach options in Catalonia. With crystal clear waters and white sand, it's an excellent choice for a relaxing day by the sea.
After living here 2 years, I must say this is my favorite beach. It’s easy to get in & out of the water (water shoes are helpful at any beach). It’s wide enough for lots of people & there are numerous restaurants to eat at. My personal favorite is Es Dofí, they go out of their way to make sure everyone gets a sunny seat w/a view. But if you prefer inside seating they have that. And the menu comes in many languages. Friendly staff!

Awesome little town with a great beach. Sprawling main section sided by quiet little coves. Great short walks onto rocky outcrops. We spent many days here. Good for snorkelling and swimming. Cool in April but still warm enough for a swim.

Like a dream. My new favorite place to swim in the Mediterranean. One note, parking on the street that leads to the beach was fine - but witnessed someone go up into a parking lot (on the left facing away from the beach) and dragged the bottom of their car. So caution if not parking on the street level.
Courtney T — Google review
Fascinating scenery, but unfortunately extremely dirty and overcrowded even after 4pm. Broken bottles lie scattered on the cliffs where children are climbing, food leftovers everywhere, dirty diapers left behind, and plastic cups and bandages floating in the water. On top of that, the sea was full of jellyfish. It’s a real shame that such a beautiful place is so neglected, and that visitors don’t take responsibility for cleaning up or taking their garbage with them.

We really enjoyed it, the daily 3 course menu (€27 pp) is very good value, and includes wine (1/2 bottle each!) water, bread and coffee. For mains we had sea bass (with balsamic clams and grilled veg) and pork loin in creamy cheese sauce and rice - both delicious. Deserts a bit uninspired, otherwise great.

Delicious seafood and even better views across the cove. Situated nicely on the boardwalk, they specialize with fresh seafood with great service. The squid lacked a bit of flavor, but the texture was nice. Our other fish dishes were fantastic. There might not be a better place to look at the ocean, enjoy the breeze, and eat than here.

Since when has paella been dark brown? It was sludgy like risotto and salty as of soy sauce had been poured into it. Staff have zero customer service and repeatedly ignored us during our experience. Do not recommend at all. - Aug 2019 I made that review on trip advisor and the owner came back with an abusive comment denying everything saying the food is normal lmao ofc
Editor M — Google review
Worst experience ever. Waiter was disrespectful. You cannot ask any question to the waiter without him responding aggressively and looking at you as if you’re dumb. Never mind the quality of the food. This is not a friendly restaurant. This has been a common theme all across Spain.
Angel R — Google review
Unfortunately the service was rather arrogant and unfriendly, on top he got my order wrong, so that would only be one star for me for not making me feel welcome at all. To be fair the breakfast was alright and the view of course is amazing, so I give 3 stars.

Seafood restaurant
Restaurant Es Dofí is a popular spot among locals for its fresh fish and unpretentious atmosphere. Located in the small bay of Tamariu, this restaurant offers an authentic Mediterranean experience with its outdoor terrace overlooking the sparkling sea. The menu features a variety of seafood dishes, including fried somsos and grilled turbot, as well as other options like gazpacho and Galician-style octopus.
We walked-in at 12:30 because they don’t accept reservations. This is an authentic Catalan / Spanish mix restaurant. The owner (who is fluent in English, Spanish, and some French) and waiters are Catalan. All the dishes we tried were full of flavor and exquisite. My favorite one was the one with potatoes, spicy sausage and fried eggs. Magnificent views as well. Ask for the chef’s special because some dishes are not listed on the menu.
Brunch, V — Google review
We spent four days in Tamariu and ended up eating at Es Dofí on three of those days — and every single meal was absolutely delicious ! The service was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Every recommendation we received was spot-on. We worked our way through much of the menu and loved everything we tried. We had three different types of grilled fish, the bacalao with Roquefort sauce (which was absolutely delicious), clams in a white wine, garlic, and chili sauce, the grilled prawns, grilled calamari, fried calamari rings, the fried bacalao bites, and the meat croquettes — and every dish was excellent. Also, the Sangria with Cava is a must-try! If we ever come back to Tamariu, we will definitely return to Es Dofí without a doubt. Highly recommended!
Stella M — Google review
The location couldn't be better: with an awesome view to the Tamariu Beach. The food is tasty. The only thing I thought could be better was the size of the dishes. They are expensive and my expectation was that more food would have been served. Example: croquettes cost around 10 euros but we get them in a small amount and size with a bit of fries in the center. The pulpo a galega and calamari also (small amounts...). On the other hand, the paella for two was a very good and tasty option. And the amount on that serving was fair.

This food was absolutely amazing and perfect to end our day at the beach. I enjoyed a lovely aperol, and we were blown away by the jambon and melon and salmorejo. Everything was perfect and the owner was incredibly kind. 10/10 will be returning

Managed to get a table early evening. We all very much enjoyed our meals - the prawns in garlic were delicious and the meatballs. Stunning location and a good atmosphere 👌🏼

We have been eating here for 20 years and never were disappointed. The menu hasn’t changed in decades, the quality is fantastic, the service is done with familiarity and love for the food, customers and Spanish cuisine. Es Dofi is excellent! There are no reservations so take your time and have an aperitif at the beach while you wait, watching the waves roll in…

Nestled in the charming coastal town of Llafranc, Restaurant Cal Gitano de Llafranc offers a delightful culinary experience that perfectly marries traditional Catalan flavors with stunning views of the beach. Diners can indulge in a variety of dishes, from delectable starters like almejas and artichoke hearts to hearty mains such as paella and duck. The dessert trio is not to be missed!
Food was excellent and tasty. Texture was smooth and melted in mouth. Service was great, very nice and helpful, and food came fast. Sardines were amazing! Highly recommended!

Was skeptical at first due to the bad reviews but the food was great. Service was good but slow. We ordered the paella/arroz negro and a plate of grilled veggies and were satisfied with our choice!

We did not eat from the menu. Had beer, olives, and chips. All were very good. Location is great. Service staff had terrible attitudes towards us. Don’t work in customer service in a vacation/holiday location if you do not want to serve tourists.

Best bravas in Llafranc for me, loved this place. Yes the service was a bit slow but it was very busy and the staff were super friendly. One of the cheaper places we had tapas in Llafranc, recommended (for tapas!!)

We got the lunch menu with a great view. Portion was just perfect for lunch but the main dish was mediocre at best. They charged us extra for the bread basket which were offered to us initially without our permission. Service was quite alright for Spanish standards. We enjoyed our experience nevertheless.

Awful awful experience. Took ages for someone to take our order, then when food arrived it was really bad, paella was super wet and lobster was overcooked. They didn’t give us cutlery and took ages to bring when we asked. Avoid this place!

Perfect day for perfect meals. Starters of almegas and artichoke hearts was a good complement to mains of duck and paella, followed by a trio of wonderful desserts. Service was on point and very professional. And oddly notably mention to the interesting toilets, very cool!

Tucked away on a quiet street in Palafrugell, Pa i Raïm Restaurant is housed in a charming Art Nouveau building that was once the residence of Catalan writer Josep Pla. The restaurant's interior exudes elegance, featuring beautifully decorated dining rooms, a lovely winter garden, and a tree-shaded terrace. The seasonal menu showcases a delightful blend of traditional Emporda cuisine and contemporary flavors.
Utterly delicious. We had the sharing menu for €70 each and it was a delight, and very innovative, but a bit too much food for me. Next time I go I'll have the smaller option. The place is really pretty and the staff lovely.

We both got sick and had to leave during the main course of the Menu para compartir, nothing looked fresh, particularly the shrimp. I threw up in their toilets. Water is not brought in a closed bottle also. We left before the deserts because we could not handle it anymore. The waitress was nice and told the owner but she refused to do any gesture, arguing that were the only ones. Never ever again

La Platgeta is one of the busiest beaches in Calella de Palafrugell, along with Port Pelegri, Canadell, and Golfet beach. It's a cozy and warm place that's perfect for spending lazy days by the sea. The beaches are ideal for families with children and snorkeling enthusiasts due to their clean and crystal-clear waters. La Platgeta offers a relaxed atmosphere where visitors can enjoy long lunches after exploring the beautiful coastal walks in Catalunya.
Beautiful small village on the water. We didn't have as much time as we wanted to explore, but had a delicious lobster and mussel paella and a few glasses of wine before spending some time taking in the views.

This is one of the nicest Calas in Costa Brava. I would highly recommend making a trip here where you have access to the beach. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants directly on the beach front and also a public toilet when visiting the beach for many hours. The water is very rocky so I would recommend wearing shoes that you can use in the water.

You have been discovering Costa Brava and finally you reached the crown jewel of Baix Emporda, this one the old songs talk about. No place for disappointment, Calella is spectacular, cosy to the extreme, perfect mix of an ancient fishermen village and a mediterranean bay. The sand, the colors of the wooden boats lying on the beach, the timid scattered rocks, the smell of fideua. Costa Brava's best definition is Calella.

Small beach with coarse, pebble-like sand. Beautiful water and adjacent scenery. Get here early, like 9am to get a spot close to the water. It stays busy all day. Oh, if you’re American, be aware folks (of all ages) are frequently sunbathing topless. That being said, no age restriction as we saw families with little toddlers up through older folks. At night, past 10pm, it seems like a favorite spot for teens to hang out with friends.

The reviews don’t lie - a great dive base full of great people who love the craft. We took our PADI advanced open water course at Poseidon with Angels as our diving instructor. Communication went great, right from the start, equipment was in excellent condition (partially brand new/unworn) and Angels showed lots of patience with us and helped us improve a fair bit over the course of three very intense days. The final dive to the Boreas ship wreck was a great way to finish it off. All in all excellent service, great value for your money and both the team and the equipment were excellent. 5/5 - we will come again.

Always happy to go underwater and make bubbles, even better when the team is kind and flexible. I was booked for 2 boat dives and realized once there that beach dives were also available. I was able to switch up the second dive without any trouble. I also have to commend the team for the good ambiance on the boat. No rushing people in and out, just smiles and good times. Thanks guys, I'll be back soon!

It's a charming spot on the Catalan coast that attracts visitors who can't resist capturing its beauty on social media. This town is so beautiful and relaxing to visit. Beaches scattered all over to swim and relax in. Restaurants and shops everywhere to get a nice meal or buy some souvenirs/ clothes. You can easily spend days here walking around. I came on a Saturday afternoon and it was very full so best to come in the morning. So many things to do, have fun with and take pictures. A must-visit for us every time we come to Calella de Palafrugell. Great spot right on the beach (try booking their terrace). We usually book in advance as on the day can be tricky to get a seat outside. Food is outstanding every single time - we have been 10+ times already. We love their small fried fishes or a slightly large version of them. And we always rake seafood or mixed paella. Rice is exceptional, seafood is well cooked. Very comfortable with younger kids too 🙌

We had an amazing lunch here - a lot of restaurants in great positions have average food, not here. We had a delicious lunch and can’t wait to come back.

I’m not sure if this is just the style there, but it felt very rustic. We went for dinner and we had to walk on sand to get there, there is no pathway to get there so keep that in mind when choosing what shoes to wear. Our waitress was nice but everyone else there was quite un-attending. The food was mediocre, nothing special, but also very rustic presentation. One shocker was when we got the salmon bread and it was all disassembled and the salmon slices were incredibly thin. Quite disappointed.

La Blava is a charming seafood restaurant located in the coastal town of Calella de Palafrugell. Housed in a converted fisherman's house right on the beach, it offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with stunning views of the Mediterranean. The restaurant prides itself on presenting seafood with a Catalan accent, emphasizing quality ingredients cooked simply and creatively. Guests can enjoy a leisurely meal on the outdoor terrace overlooking the beach, savoring both the delicious food and breathtaking sunsets.
This is one of the nicest restaurants here. They have plenty of choice and a lot of seafood options. I would highly recommend coming here for dinner and)or lunch. But for those who do not like seafood it wouldn't be the best. The food is very high quality and the staff are very professional. It is located right on the beach front. I would highly recommend reserving in advance during peak season which can easily be done online.
BCL A — Google review
The location of the restaurant is truly amazing—it's just 2 meters from the beach and the sea. While strolling down the street and researching nearby dining options, we found this place, which seemed more focused on quality food than on catering solely to tourists. Fortunately, our expectations were met. When we arrived, the restaurant was fully booked, so I recommend making a reservation in advance. At first, the restaurant appears small, but it actually has a second floor that offers a spectacular view of the sea. The service was excellent and friendly. We started our meal with pan con tomate and some delicious patatas bravas, which came with a fantastic mayonnaise. For our main course, we ordered a standard paella. It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, but we had no complaints as everything else was great. The prices are still reasonable, and I highly recommend this restaurant.

Each of us spent €50 for our lunch which we think is a bit pricey however it’s so worth it. The food, service and view were amazing. We actually didn’t expect such a touristic place has such a good quality of food. Highly recommend

A gorgeously situated establishment. Great service, friendly, attentive, reasonable prices. Food is fresh, comes out relatively quickly. Lots of good options in this area, but you'd be hard pressed to find one much better. Try the octopus with pork belly, the shrimp salad, and the black rice. All were fantastic.
Jaded G — Google review
Amazing food!! It was hard to decide from all the rice options. In the end we went for the classic paella that they specialize in. Make sure to get a reservation if not it will be impossible to get in. The inside sitting is nice but to get to feel the local vibe, I suggest you sit outside and have a great view of the sea! + you can bring you friendly fur friends 🐕‍🦺 Dogs allowed in the terrace!

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. We made a reservation and were a little disappointed at first to find that only indoor tables were available. However, it turned out to be even better than sitting outside – our table was upstairs by the window with a stunning view of the sea. The food was absolutely delicious: authentic flavors with a modern touch, beautifully prepared and full of taste. Everything we tried was fantastic. Highly recommended! Would definitely come here again!

We’ve been coming to La Blava every year for a few years on our family holiday and absolutely love it. The setting is beautiful, right by the beach, and there’s a nice buzz to the atmosphere, especially upstairs where the kitchen is partially open so you can see the chefs cooking while you eat. The food is delicious and really well cooked - highlights were the braised octopus and crispy pork belly (never had such tender octopus!), prawn and mango salad, and the burger. The carrot cake for dessert was also delicious, but my one request would be a bit more variety to the dessert menu beyond cakes. That said, looking forward to next year already!

Can Palet, a vegan-friendly eatery located by the coast, manages to defy expectations by offering a delectable vegan paella. This seemingly impossible task is accomplished with commendable efficiency and an added touch of personalization - patrons are given the freedom to select their preferred ingredients. Can Palet's commitment to catering to all dietary preferences deserves applause. Surprisingly, despite its merits, the restaurant falls short in terms of its rating.
Great service, the waiter (I think Abde) was very kind. I’m still learning Spanish and he was very patient with me, explaining everything in Spanish with patience and offering a gifted dessert. A great place, Would highly recommend!

Here for tapas and drinks only but the aperol spritz (8.5€) was really tasty and large, for the area was a good value! We loved the eggplant chips, sweet honey and zested lime complemented well. Fried calamari was not too chewy or overdone. Beautiful seaside views from the patio. Bonus that it remained open when many other restaurants were shut for the afternoon siesta

We visited this restaurant for lunch as part of a tour group. Although we had to wait a long time for a table, we didn’t mind too much since the view of the beach from outside was beautiful. Once we were finally seated, we all placed our orders. Half of our group received their meals and we were told the rest would be out shortly. However, NINETY minutes after ordering—by which time half our group had already finished eating—we were informed that the restaurant had run out of lobster. Four of us had ordered that dish, but they said there was only enough left for one person. By then, we were starving. All we had managed to eat was a single appetizer we shared and a few bites from others in our group who felt bad for us. We told the staff to cancel the remaining orders because we couldn’t wait any longer and were frustrated that no one had informed us sooner, giving us a chance to order something else. It seems unreasonable that it took 90 minutes to find out they didn’t have enough of the dish we ordered. We asked to pay our bill, which was only for three sodas and one appetizer. The manager was extremely rude and didn’t even offer to comp our drinks, despite the poor experience. Because we had to catch our tour bus and most restaurants were closing between lunch and dinner, we ended up having to grab snacks from a grocery store. Overall, we were incredibly disappointed—not just by the delay, but by the lack of communication and poor treatment from the staff. We would absolutely not return.

As a vegan I was hoping to get some vegan paella somewhere by the coast, which seemed like an impossible misión, and I must say not only they did deliver it quickly but also they made sure to personalise it for us, we got to choose the ingredients we wanted for it! Good job Can Palet! Keep up the good work and thanks for offering options for all! 🤩

Came here via viator. We ordered lobster that was 28Euro and 2 person minimum reqt was there.. me and unknown person from same tour group combined and we were shocked that total was 56.. ( they had mall p/p next to 28). This looks like a scam to me and maybe my viator guide is colluding with them. The food was also below average and I needed tools to open the lobster.

Hovering between a 3 and a 4… food was pretty nice but each dish lacked a certain something, especially considering the price… burrata salad was crying out for a balsamic vinegar dressing, Tuna tataki needed some wasabi cream or avocado to balance the saltiness of the vegetables. Service was also very slow, but it was an unusually warm day in the off-season, so maybe understandable.

Restaurant
Sol i Mar Calella is a charming beachfront restaurant in Calella de Palafrugell, offering classic Catalan dishes such as seafood paella and a variety of fish and shellfish. The restaurant provides a lovely setting for an evening under the full moon, with amazing views, delicious food, and excellent service. It's known for its high-quality ingredients at reasonable prices and is popular for its tapas and paellas.
You come here to eat proper fish and seafood, and it won’t disappoint! They have consistently got the best quality fresh catch. It’s small but has a great view on the beach and sea. The service could be better, they know they serve amazing food and drop a bit the quality of client service. And I truly hate the 2-shift setup, it just makes everything rushed.

Exuberant experience with loads of different and good fish and seafood options, as well as traditional Spanish dishes. The restaurant also offers a great view of the ocean and the beach 🏖️.

We ate outside here for dinner recently, and everything was amazing! The staff was friendly and gave great recommendations on wine and food, and the service was perfect. We had grilled razor and baby clams to start, tomato bread, grilled sardines, and shared the turbot with fries. The seafood was fresh, simply but perfectly prepared, and delicious. All that plus the beautiful view just steps from the beach made it a truly memorable experience! Make reservations - you won’t regret it!

Do yourself a favour and book in advance. This is a small restaurant and gets booked up very quickly. There are 2 seatings. 7.30pm and 9.30pm. You will only be given your 2 hours no matter what time you arrive. We discovered this to our dismay as I booked on line and the online system gave us an option to book for 8pm, we didnt realise that this meant we had half hour less. We are returning customers but since last time we booked in the restaurant and we couldn't get a table until 9ish it didn't occur to us. So, when we sat at 8pm, the clock had started ticking at 7.30pm! All that said, we had an exceptional meal. We had a table inside. The restaurant is charming. Outside is lovely too, but a bit blustery since you're right on the seafront. We were 3 adults. To start we shared the fried calamari and the padron peppers. Absolutely mouthwatering. To follow I had the baked whole seabass, my friends had grilled sardines and Palamos prawns. All the food was exceptional. We also shared a bottle of wine. We managed to get this all finished in time! I will absolutely return and I will be sure to arrive at the start of the session!!!

Favorite restaurant in the region. Loved it so much that we came back twice in the week we were staying — 30 min drive each time. The food was delicious, seafood was so fresh, but most of all, the service and care and attention of the staff was superb. Photos are some of the dishes we had. Oysters were 🤤

Catholic church
Església de Sant Martí de Palafrugell is a 16th-century church located in a beautiful area with a mix of ancient and modern architecture. The church has an unfinished tower that adds to its curious charm. It is known for its historical significance and the nearby geological coastline. In 1966, during the Cold War era, the area experienced a near disaster when a B52 Bomber carrying nuclear arms flew over it.
Nice church with beautiful paintings and stained-glass windows. It was not overcrowded even on a Sunday. Definitely worth the visit !

"ST MARTIN'S CHURCH".. Decorative + Historically highly rated in an area of natural beauty, geological interesting coastline, with a mix of age old + modern architecture.. Seems this area is well known for a near disaster that ocurred during 1966, the Cold War Era.. A B52 US Bomber, flying on a cold war mission, carrying nuclear arms, over flew the scenic area.. The mission required two refuels in the air above Spain, one which was not completed as the B52 was closing on the air tanker faster than expected, with no 'break away' call from the air tanker, the refueling boom + probe broke off the left wing of the air tanker as it exploded after fuel ignited, with no survivors.. 'BREAK AWAY' is usually called from the 'boom refueling operative' in such circumstsnces.. The B52 Bomber was also damaged by the huge air impact explosion, though some crew members did survive, one being picked up in the sea forty five minutes after impact, by local fisherman.. Four nuclear bombs fell from the B52, three were found relatively quickly, contaminating the local area, with 'fall out clean ups' still taking place during 2008, paid for by the US government.. 6,000 barrels of contaminated topsoil was removed for transportation to the US, where it was buried.. One 'nuke' fell into the sea which was spotted by Fransisco, a local fisherman, later named 'bomb franky'.. A large fleet of military ships searched for the 'nuke', rated at being worth 1/2 % of the total audenance value of the 'nuke'... $20 million dollars of $2 billion dollars.. The missing 'nuke' was eventually found, this documented in the film "MEN OF HONOUR" (c), which also documents the struggles of an african american, who eventually became the 'first african american' member of an elite military force.. "ST MARTINS CHURCH"..

Theme Parks
Coqui Parc is a charming destination for families, especially those with young children aged 3 to 7. While some visitors have noted that the rides may be showing their age and could use some maintenance, the atmosphere remains lively and engaging. The park features attractions like gentle bumper boats, trampolines, and an impressive inflatable castle that kids adore. Many guests appreciate the friendly staff who create a welcoming environment despite potential concerns about pricing.
(Translated by Google) The place is quite good for children up to 6-7 years old, there are attractions for children from 3 to 5 years old such as crazy chairs, very slow bumper boats, trampolines and another large indoor inflatable; The strongest attraction is a fairly tall inflatable castle for 7-year-olds. The staff is normal, apart from the guy with the trampolines who was super friendly with the children. It works with tickets that are bought at a booth in the center, there are attractions with 1, 2 and 3 tickets (the minigolf), I don't give it 5 stars because the prices seem a little expensive for the level of the attractions and also they are not useful for another year, they expire at the end of the year. Honestly, shockingly expensive for what it is. One ticket costs 2.50€. Ten minutes on a bouncy castle cost two tickets. You do the math.

It is ok. I like the fact you have many games together. They finish very quick. A nice place to take the kids.
Natasha S — Google review
I have read previous reviews so I was aware and warned off the overpricing of rides and old equipment. We still decided to go by telling ourselves that we support a local business. The staff is very nice (despite their likely low salaries). The rides are indeed falling apart (some have broken pieces laying in the middle of the ride). So you get the extra thrill of not knowing if your kid is the unlucky next one when another piece breaks down. Also, they have too many bees which the staff is fiercely fighting with insecticides (unfortunately when my kid and husband passed so he got stung but they told him to be a big boy, which he did and survived). All of that said, if you are in town, take your kids. It’s funny. The place has character.
Alina B — Google review
(Translated by Google) We went here with two children (ages 3 and 6). The concept of free admission and paying per attraction is nice, but the tickets are incredibly expensive. One ticket is €3.50, which means you pay €7 (two tickets) for 15 minutes on one bouncy castle. If you want to ride each attraction once, it would cost you 21 tickets per child, or €48.50 (with the discount offered at the ticket office, which depends on how many tickets you buy at once). That's essentially the entrance fee to an amusement park, and you can't really compare the quality. There's also no free playground, which is a shame if you, as a parent, want a quiet drink or a bite to eat. The staff is friendly, especially the man at the trampolines, who is very enthusiastic. The food selection is limited but tasty. It's a shame that the pancakes are served on paper plates and with wooden cutlery. We had a nice evening but wouldn't return.

(Translated by Google) It looked fun, and the kids jumped on some inflatables, but the price is a bit steep. A 15-minute inflatable jump costs two tickets (€3.50 each). Almost every activity costs two tickets, making it a very expensive evening with more than one child. If you buy 10 tickets, it's €25, so it's cheaper per ticket. But I still think it's too much money for what you get.

Totally recommend! We tried the kayaks and a boat trip. It was amazing! Our guide, Marc, was great! Seems like he knows everything about the coast and the area. We recently organized a guided kayak tour for a group of approx 30 international guests to a wedding at the Costa Brava. Most of the participants were in their twenties and thirties, but the group also included some older semesters. It was a great experience that everyone enjoyed. The guides were competent and friendly and lead us quite far - to a beautiful, wild beach which we would have never reached on our own. I can very much recommend this activity.

We recently chartered a boat with Tourist Service Llafranc and had a lovely experience. We ended up renting a private boat for a 3 hour tour around Costa Brava. Our guide was super knowledgeable about the area itself and was able to show us so many different spots in a short period of time. Would highly recommend using them if you’re looking for a day trip boat tour.

She was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made sure we were comfortable. Her caring nature added a personal touch to the whole adventure, making it even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable kayak experience!

We had an incredible afternoon with a boat trip organised by Tourist Service for a family of five. Having been coming to Llafranc for 20 years this really gave us a different perspective. Our skipper Carlos was friendly, knowledgeable and really cared for the coastline and surrounding area. He brought us to places that we would never have found ourselves. The sea was choppy so having Carlos as skipper made sure we were all safe and sound. The highlight was swimming in Cala Marquesa and seeing Cova Di Gispert. I’d highly recommend. Thank you. Can wait to try to the south of Llafranc next time.

I've rented a kayak through this business two times now. They are extremely friendly, responsive, and easy to work with. Their location has a shower as well, for after your trip. During this second time, I wiped out (completely my fault). The waterproof bag they gave me kept my phone 100% dry, so all was well after the 10 minutes it took me to get up on rocks to call for help. Within minutes, some Zac Efron looking dude majestically arrived on a speedboat to my rescue. If I was a chick, this could have been the beginning of a romantic comedy, but I'm an overweight middle aged man, so it was just nice to be rescued. 5 Stars!! Highly Recommend!!!

My husband and I signed up to do a 2.5 hour guided kayak tour with the Tourist Service office in Llafranc. 50Euros pp included the guide, the open kayak, snorkeling gear and photos that they later emailed to us. We went with a guided tour because we wanted to see the highlights of this beautiful coast and were a little concerned about our safety on the water, not being familiar with the area. This trip delivered! Sergi was our guide and the group turned out to be just us and 3 Frenchmen. Sergi handled communicating in both languages without problem. We headed out a little after 10am - my husband and I in a tandem. We kayaked for probably an hour straight - along the coast and through a natural cave. We stopped in a small rocky cove where we snorkeled for a 1/2 hour - we could see interesting rocks and little fish beneath us. And then we started the return trip and “oh my!” The seas had picked up and we were paddling against the waves and experiencing 3 foot swells. My arms and shoulders were exhausted and strained from all the kayaking we had already done (I am fit but don’t have a ton of upper body strength) and we had a long way to go… That’s when Sergi asked if he could help, tied a tow line from his kayak to ours and it was a combined effort of all 3 of us that got us back home. I can only imagine how this trip could have gone terribly wrong if we didn’t do a guided trip…. Notes: make sure you are physically fit to kayak for 2+ hours in open water, ask for a dry bag to carry any essentials, bring your own water, wear sun protection. Put a strap on your sunglasses - the Frenchman tipped over his kayak when he encountered our first real swell and gone were his nice sunglasses…

They were so nice. We took a 4 hour tour with a boat captain and it was great. Spectacular scenery. 10/10!

Italian restaurant
Nestled in the charming coastal town of Llafranc, La Nova Pasta stands out as a delightful culinary gem amidst a sea of upscale dining options. While it may not boast Michelin-starred cuisine, the restaurant offers an impressive selection of pizzas and pastas that are both generous and flavorful, all at reasonable prices. Families will find this spot particularly appealing due to its welcoming atmosphere and friendly service.
Very delicious spaghetti, salat and desserts. Friendly and kind staff

Called in Thursday lunch. Not busy sat on veranda. Patatas bravas so-so (had way nicer a couple of doors down). Hamburger was huge with very, very salted chips. Smoked Salmon salad was tasty and well presented, just not much of it. The only downside to the service was they seemed quite rushed which isn’t in keeping with everywhere else we’ve been in this area, and there was plenty of space left. The waiter and waitresses were all nice and polite though. Wouldn’t go again as have had better food and atmosphere elsewhere in the village.

We popped in at lunch time and had a small pizza plus the best goats cheese salad I’ve ever eaten, it was wonderful. We went back this evening for pasta and were not disappointed. Staff are friendly and efficient.

Do not recommend unless you have no choice and you want a quick cheap feed. Ordered Neapolitana pizza. The olives were the cheap canned variety and the pizza base tasted like it was from Domino’s. Friendly fast service is the only good thing

⁉️This review has have been made by an Italian 🇮🇹. ⁉️ In general ⭐⭐⭐ I've eaten far more better pizzas but even worse. I think this is a good restaurant for tourists but if you're ITALIAN just go somewhere else ⁉️ Prices 💵 the pizzas have 2 different dimensions normal and baby, the second cost 2€ less than the first. Pizzas has a price range of 8-15€. Pizza 🍕 ⭐⭐ I've took the Bufala because other pizza were simply to much for me... In conclusion the pizza isn't at all what I was expecting. The Bufala seemed to be not the only cheese there because it had a very different flavor compared to what I'm used to. The dough was good enough but the border was to thin and so more like a cracker than a pizza. Local 🛋️ ⭐⭐⭐⭐ actually quite normal but the terrace is very beautiful, the problem is the wind if there's any. ⁉️After 8.30 they won't accept any reservation, so you'll have to stay in queue. ⁉️The terrace has a 10% maggioration. Staff 👥 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ quite professional and multilingual. Fast in taking orders.

I won't be going back here. Our reserved table was next to the ice cream counter, not respecting social distancing rules. When we moved to the next table along we were talked to rudely and told off like children by the host. Then, my order was forgotten, so I ended up starting my meal as my family were just finishing. The waiter did apologise to be fair, but still. When it came to pay, we saw that we had been overcharged. The waiter explained that there is a 10% surcharge on food eaten on the seafront. This was not explained to us when we booked an outside table. So I ended up overpaying for a pizza that arrived 20 minutes later than everyone else. Should have refused to pay for it in hindsight, but what can you do... anyway, I would recommend that you take your business elsewhere in Llafranc.

Our family went twice for dinner- tasty, generous, and diverse pizzas and pastas. Service was prompt and very friendly. The location is unbeatable. Highly recommended for families. (We found the negative reviews, potentially off-putting, to be unfounded)

Nestled in the charming heart of Palafrugell, DeTres is a hidden gem that seafood enthusiasts simply cannot overlook. With a rich history as an old prison dating back several centuries, the restaurant boasts an intriguing ambiance that perfectly complements its culinary offerings. The menu features standout dishes like the palamos grilled prawns, which are incredibly fresh and expertly seasoned to deliver a delightful taste experience.
We absolutely loved this place! The staff were really nice and made us feel at home. The food is tapas style, but the dishes are more than the typical tapas as we were pleasantly surprised by the shrimp fritters, grilled asparagus and amazing ribs! We definitely recommend this place for a great atmosphere and fresh local food!

Fantastic meal at this beautiful little restaurant in the heart of Palafrugell. Great ingredients treated with respect. The grilled mussels are smoky and fresh and cooked to perfection. The fideua is simply cooked and aromatic with fish stock -- nothing like the overly salty burnt versions they overcharge for at the beach. Our only complaint: a very lovely green salad was a bit overdressed. DeTres is a great value, too. And the service is very friendly. Highly recommended!

Awesome food, outstanding service, cozy and warm atmosphere. Highly recommended to everyone :)

Food was exquisite. We had fried anchovies, grilled fish and vegetables, and some other small tapas. Each plate was better than the last. The service very attentive and friendly. Just perfect after a beautiful beach day.

Amazing food. We had the Palamós shrimps and mussels. Try also the cheesecake, it‘s incredibly good 🤩
Greta C — Google review
What a surprise place. This was an old prison 300-400 years ago, maybe an even longer time ago. The ombience of the place was really cool. This is a family run place, mother, father, and son. The service was excellent, as well as all the food served, plus the local organic wine, red and white, from small local wineries. All I can say is, if you're in Palafrugell, you must not miss this restaurant.
Alan S — Google review
As a seafood lover, this is probably the best seafood meal I've had in my 30 years of travel. A must-have is the palamos grilled prawns. They are so fresh and tasty, seasoned and grilled to perfection. Coming a close second was the grilled squid. I also thoroughly enjoyed the fideua masterfully cooked in fish broth which offers a crunchy yet soft finish on your palate. Also recommended are the tuna tartare and steamed mussels. Service by the father and son team was excellent. Needless to say, the mom who is also the chef, is world-class!

The food was so delicious and authentic with so many varied options. Honestly each dish was 10/10! The service was exceptional too, everyone was kind, helpful and super friendly. Very good prices too and a beautiful ambience as we sat outside. Highly recommended.

Mercat de Palafrugell

Market
I have been frequenting the Mercat de Palafrugell since 1998 and I absolutely adore it. This market is unique in that it changes locations daily, moving around different towns in the area. There is an abundance of items to browse and purchase, although its quality has slightly declined due to the impact of Covid-19. Unfortunately, many stalls have suffered financial losses and had to close down as a result.
We had a great experience here. Really friendly vendors with fantastic produce. We took some black garlic cheese, and truffle infused cheese. Bellota sausage. Mortadella, and garlic sausage. In France it would have cost twice the price. We also enjoyed trying to speak Catalan, which the locals enjoyed and they helped us to learn more! 💕🙏
Andy T — Google review
Wonderful market with lots of delicious local products to discover (and taste 🙂)
Guillaume C — Google review
I've been visiting here since 1998 and love it. The market moves around the area to different towns each day. There is plenty to look at and buy. Since Covid it is not as good and I presume that many stalls were victim to losing so much money that they could not carry on. Having said that the fruit and vegetables are good quality and value. I recommend a visit on Sunday when there's more there.
Lynne A — Google review
Great place. Lots of options. Open nearly every day.

If you are in Costa Brava this maybe the best market around. The fish market is outstanding, fresh gambas from Palamos, and don’t miss the cheese store adjacent and the super fresh vegetable and olive stands. This market will change the way you shop for food.
Eduardo O — Google review
Very energic and authentic atmosphere. The persons are kind and friendly. Great choice of high quality food. Many types of fish are very special for the place. The fish is cleaned by the vendors that is extremely useful, when you are in a tourist trip.

Really enjoyable market to visit on a Sunday morning. Park in the field at the top, get churros from the van at the head of the market and stroll downhill for coffee on the square.

Vicus Restaurant is an elegant establishment in Pals, Catalonia, offering contemporary Catalan sharing plates. Founded by Elisabet Figuerola and Gerard Geli in 2011, the restaurant showcases a modern twist on traditional Catalan cuisine. Head chef Damia Rafecas creates artfully styled dishes like rack of lamb with vanilla and parmesan, and fillet of venison with pumpkin tatin.
Really good food from the Region with local corresponding wine. Good service. - we had a wonderful time. 👍
Gregor S — Google review
Vicus was an unforgettable experience. Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, impeccable service. We were treated with warmth and kindness, with all staff being incredibly nice, patient, and considerate. They served a dish of sautéed local wild mushrooms that blew my mind. The cannelloni with prawns was a fresh, tasteful dish with depth and vibrancy. Even the hot sandwich with jamon, cheese, and truffle, a dish I was surprised to see amongst the rest of the sophisticated menu, was a carefully considered take on street food that raised the ceiling on what I thought a panini could be. Finally, the black rice with squid was complex and full, exhibiting a mastery of extracting the flavor from the fish into the black rice which featured a more saucy texture than traditional paella. Even the bread was impeccable, like bread you would get at expensive Parisian restaurants, and the staff brought us an appetizing first dish with anchovy-stuffed olives that was mind-blowing. On top of all this, they were considerate of my partner’s nut allergy, giving us a full allergen menu ahead of time and making sure to cater to her needs. On top of all this, Vicus is in Pals, a sleepy farming town that felt like I was being transported back to medieval times. Choose Vicus, this place was absolutely stunning.
Owen Q — Google review
I had high expectations for this place. The ambiance was great, and the staff was professional. However, I was a bit disappointed by the tomato salad and aubergine dish. The paella, on the other hand, was good, and they have a great wine selection.
Pelinsu Y — Google review
This restaurant is a real jewel with an inventive menu, great service, a lovely atmosphere and most importantly of all great food. We have now been on 5 or 6 occasions and never been disappointed. The deserts are so good we now always take 3 to share between 2.
Chris M — Google review
We had such a wonderful dinner at Vicus! Beautiful understated decor in the front room with lovely classic accents (check out the gorgeous old bar). The service was nothing short of perfect. Relaxed, friendly, but also hugely helpful with my wife's allergy and a great wine recommendation. The food was superb throughout. Standout were the rice with pork ribs, the fresh tomato/melon salad and the smoky aubergine/eel dish, but everything was fresh and excellent. Couldn't have been happier, thank you!
Holger L — Google review
A delightful meal prepared with finesse. We ordered to share the aubergine with smoked eel, brioche with spicy tuna, razor clams with carrot puree, and black rice with squid. All dishes were excellent, flavours well balanced, with perhaps the razor clams dish needing a bit of zest/acidity. My favourite and recommendation would be the brioche with spicy tuna. Service was impeccable and I loved the olives stuffed with anchovies that started off the meal.
Adrian L — Google review
The food was amazing, and the service was great. I had an allergy and the restaurant was extremely nice - they provided a detailed allergen menu and they were very happy to adapt the dishes to meet my allergy requirements! I think they deserve one star Michelin to be honest!!!
Valentina G — Google review
I enjoyed a superb meal here as a solo diner. They prepared half portions of some of the smaller dishes so that I could try a variety of things. The highlights for me were the mackerel, black rice, and lemon custard dessert; but everything was good, and the service excellent. Try this restaurant.
