Lot off activities to enjoy, my son really enjoyed the climbing wall which I thought was very reasonably priced, will be returning and would recommend

This made a good treat towards a hard studying week for my son. Costs a lot relative to what I saw my son doing, but he enjoyed anyway.

An expensive but fun day out. 4d golf is good, but we found the 2nd course more enjoyable than the first. The Cell escape room was also great fun and recommend.

I did my workplace first aid course in the church here, the course was great, and it was a bonus there was plenty places to grab a bite to eat whilst I was there. It was a little hot in the building as it was a very warm week, so maybe a bit more air-conditioning wouldn't go amiss. Plenty parking and right off the motorway too 👍

Fun mini-golf course with cool T-Rex theme. But it is pretty expensive. Still, a good time overall!

Great place for adventure for the kids and adults from mini golf to wall climbing trampolines bowling gootopia to name but a few also great restaurants to eat highly recommended wish we had one near me

Visited on our way from Wakefield to York. Fantastic variety of restaurants and activities. We ate in Frankie and Benny's which was good. The centre is bright and clean and well set out. Although we did not use any of the activities we were told by a friend they are amazing. We were also told the cinema is currently closed so please check before going.

What a great place to spend the wet days of the school holidays with the kids! Getting them to run around the soft play to burn off that energy and then we went for a chilled game of dino crazy golf ⛳️ - soo much more to go and do! Will definitely be going back and trying all the other entertainment

Shout out to Mark for the excellent private skiing lesson he gave to our 9 year old We got a great deal for May half term. It was a half to a third of the price of Chill Factore so worth keeping an eye out for deals I was super impressed by how quickly he got to move onto trying out the big slope Mark gave lots of encouraging confidence and praise

Thanks to Aaron for a great first lesson today with our kids (4 and 7). The lads had a great time, and were very taken with Aaron, chatting about him all the way home. From the information at check in, to the equipment collection, everyone was friendly and helpful. Thanks again! ☺️

Amazing first time Skiing, Alex was a great teacher, you can tell he has many years experience coaching. All the gear is spot on, clean, and taken care of. I'd reccomend getting their 45 minutes early to get all your gear ready, once you have gotten ready you can just walk around the shops until your lesson starts.
Jack — Google review
We booked a group lesson specifically to regain our confidence and get essential pointers on correcting bad habits. We were fortunate to have two outstanding instructors, Mack and Pete. Mack excelled at building our self-assurance and providing practical tips, while Pete brought the necessary technical expertise. Both delivered their instruction professionally and in a friendly manner. The lesson was fantastic, and we will definitely be booking again for further development.

I can not praise the team enough, Sammy, Harley and Sam, were amazing with my autistic son. We buy him experiences, as a young man he gets depressed, bored, so to show him that autism & Epilepsy are not barriers to finding excitement, fun and happiness. He has things he cannot do, put a helmet on his bare head, so the team found a new helmet, we had purchased new thick socks, so he coped with the boots. He was advised by two sources to take thick ski jacket, but his thermostat does not work, after his first lesson he was over heating, I strongly recommend layers, all with long sleeves so the skin is covered and gloves a must. ( Trespass shop opposite, so in a break we purchased a thin fleece). My son had two lessons one for snowboarding, he found this easier than skiing as the legs do the same thing and the boots softer. Skiing he could get his left leg to work and go out, but his right leg did not want to do the mirror image at the same time!! Viewing from the cafe/childrens soft play area free to enter ( the latter above the nursery slope) We are going back to Castleford Snozone again and to spend a day in the 'Escape' arena, it is an amazing place. Note if going, avoid the A1 North (not sure about Southbound side) in 2025, as they are working on a bridge between the Pontefract and M62 on A1, and have been I am told for over a year!! queues horrendous. Head across country to Pontefract, google maps got us there on the alternative routes!!

What a wonderful experience! I attended a beginner's class, 8 people, full day. I can only describe the whole experience as fantastic. From the moment I walked in, I was directed to the changing area and lockers. After this, I collected my gear and awaited my Instructor, Mack. Mack was brilliant, had a knack for explaining things, and whilst I was the world's worst skier, I left was a huge desire to return for more lessons. The lessons themselves gradually up your skill levels from standing up, attaching skis, slowing down on a small slope, to turning and then onto the larger slope. Really, really enjoyed my day. Would highly recommend Snowzone and Mack -Furthermore, I'd recommend taking the day off after, as I'm that stiff today I can hardly stand up! Mack and Team, thanks for all your help!

Snozone is a great place to come and either practice your skiing/snowboarding or have lessons learn to ski or board. Its also a great way to cool off in the summer heat!

Came for a private 1 hour lesson with me and a +1 we were both at different levels still both very beginner level but Richard G really helped progress our skiing! Even though we were at different levels he still managed to help progress us both in areas we needed to improve in! 100% recommend doing a lesson with him he’s super nice and very easy to understand!! Thank you for a great session Richard G

Pontefract Racecourse is a delightful destination for flat racing enthusiasts, hosting 16 exciting meetings each year. Nestled on the outskirts of Pontefract, this racecourse stands out as the longest continuous flat racing circuit in Europe. It’s not just about the races; families can enjoy themed days and family Sundays that add an extra layer of fun to the experience.
Went here to celebrate 25 yrs since our first date and we were looked after by all the staff who couldn't have done any more for us if they tried. When we arrived there was a card and bottle of prosecco on our table from the staff which was a lovely gesture. Food was spot on on arrival you got tea and biscuits then a 3 course meal to have as and when you wanted it then afternoon tea was served. All other staff that took us and looked after us in the parade and winners enclosures were so friendly and made you feel special. If you want to have a great day at the races with wonderful staff I highly recommend Pontefract Racecourse.

First time at Pontefract racecourse today, I was in the grandstand & paddock area, which was good value for money. Really enjoyable day, helped by good weather and a few winners. It is very easy to find the course, park, and exit the car park. Will definitely be making another visit.

What a lovely racecourse! It was like stepping in to a little village with a vibrant and friendly atmosphere. Having never been to a racecourse before, I was impressed by the intimacy of the place where you could see the horses in the paddock both before and after the race. Staff were on hand to offer help and were genuinely pleased to see you. I can only highly recommend a visit and look forward to coming again very soon.

Really nice course. Really laid back atmosphere in the Premier Stand with good viewing. Drinks are a bit pricey but the staff were helpful and friendly. Overrun with Northerners but only to be expected I guess. Highly recommended

It was great out, but thought it would be more fancy. After it was a concert.

A quiet place (so long there are no races happening) to walk, either by yourself, with children, or with dogs, or to jog, around the racecourse, and close to the park. I love how you can easily park and get away from the busy town centre and the noisy jammed roads just in the nearby. Talking about jammed roads, if you get there by car the traffic may not be too good, especially in rush hour.

We had a great day at the races. It’s always well run with friendly staff who are really helpful. The facilities are always clean and tidy and the prices of food and drink are pretty reasonable compared to other venues of a similar nature. We will be back again and I’d recommend a day at pontefract races to anyone!

Came for a visit to the sunflower field and had a great time, lots of photo spots! Had lunch in the cafe, food was good although the app was a bit confusing as not everything on the menu was on the app so I had to go inside to order. Farm shop is brilliant and the gelato was absolutely amazing, I’d come back just for an ice cream!

We go every year to the pumpkin festival! It’s become a family tradition. They were smart to add a halal vendor finally! The business that does not adapt will not survive in the long run. So good on them for learning the demographic! The gelato from the farm shop was delicious! I have nothing bad to say, it’s always a great time!
Angie W — Google review
We had a very pleasant afternoon having lunch and browsing the farm shops! It’s very well organised and has plenty of parking. It’s dog friendly everywhere including the farm shop which was brilliant! There’s plenty of space for children to let off steam! They’ve currently have PYO sunflowers which you need to book tickets online. Lunch was great and you can order from a QR code at your table!

Not for us, today, I am afraid. Popped in on way south from Berwick-upon-Tweed to Solihull, but no light snack in the restaurant. Tried the coffee shop bit just cakes and ice-cream there. Staff proper friendly and we were allowed to buy some food from the farm shop and eat it with our coffees in the cafe.
John N — Google review
Overpriced rip off for the Pumpkin Festival so, be warned as you need a ton of cash. I dont believe that if you have to pay tickets into any event that you should then have to keep paying extortionate prices for the whole time you are there. Obviously I'm not saying everything should be free, but come on, stop taking the mick. On our day there were lots of things to do like archery, axe throwing, paintballing and lots of photo opportunities which is all very nice, but the rides and food were a rip off. You'll notice on the rides themselves that most prices aren't listed, that's so that they can change the prices at any given time. Food sellers were the same, all prices were written in chalk so that they can be rubbed out or changed deciding on however much of a rob they're on that day. Some prices obviously amended with fluorescent shapes to be changed also. I mean I'm not a grumpy old man and we did get something to eat, but I just think places like this should be regulated and fined if they charge over the odds. Burgers were lovely, but £7 for a plain burger with no chips that you are eating outside sat on a bench if you're lucky to find one. Not right. The same burgers in Leeds market are £3. Kids hotdogs for £5, shaking my head at that one too, especially when we can see the Aldi/Lidl jars of hotdogs being emptied out in front of us that cost just over £2 and a pack of buns that cost 99p for 6. The Indian food van looked and smelled great but £19 for an Indian platter that I would have to eat on a bench outdoors is just daft. Same with the Greek food van, over a tenner for each meal. Not surprising that some of the food stalls looked like they were struggling for business, the only winners were those that had chips on for £4.50 and even then a very small tray of chips. You're charging restaurant prices for outdoor grub and that's not on. You're charging well over people's budgets for rides and especially for the short times they are on them. One go on the Helter Skelter was £4, yes one go, one miserly little turn. Did you enjoy that kids yeah, now bugger off to the next ride that costs £5 or how about the Dodgems for £7 a car. Kids rides should be £1.50 max, £4-£7 limits a lot of families and disappoints a lot of kids. The gift shop was no better, £5.69 for a bag of giant marshmallows that are £3 in other places. A right rip off of a festival and I imagine all upcoming festivals will be the same, Christmas, don't even bother, can you imagine.
Damian G — Google review
Went for the Pumpkin Patch and had a really nice time - lots of variety of types and sizes and costs, lots of entertainment and shows and food stalls, it was mostly really good. However! The chefs in the cafe need to learn how to cook bacon. I ordered the burger, and the fat on the bacon was so rubbery I could patch up a tyre with it! Cooking bacon so the fat isn't rubbery isn't rocket science, though the chefs absolutely failed at it. Wasted 10 minutes removing the fat off the bacon (picture included).

omg what a place its a hidden gem. came here for the very 1st time and so glad we came. had a walk around the farm shop and samples of there home made produce that was on offer and ofcourse this made us buy the product as it tasted amazing would highly recommend. stumbled across a room called The Hayloft we had a cheeky peek in there and found an amazing set up of softplay being assembled i asked the lady who was setting it up and she told me it was for a private birthday party for a 1 yr old. Didnt relise that you can hire out the venue this is amazing weve now made enquiries for our own 2nd birthday party for our grandaughter at that venue if you need the softplay you need to follow them on instagram the_party_events_company for your bookings they are yorkshire based which is a bonus😁🐃🐴

Heavenly Desserts is an upscale dessert cafe that offers a variety of delectable treats such as creative waffles, chocolate fondue, and ice-cream sundaes. Located near Xscape Castleford, it provides a perfect stop for those seeking indulgent desserts after dining at nearby restaurants. The establishment prides itself on living up to its heavenly name by offering unique and delicious desserts. Customers have praised the clean environment and friendly service provided by the staff.
We came in quite late expecting not much to be available but had no issues ordering at all. Our waitress Shantelle was very friendly and attentive - thanks for being so patient with us as we figured out what we wanted! Drinks were served quickly and tasted great. Dessert came after (we got the tapas) and was just as lovely. You're spoiled for choice in this place, and the whole place smells of warm pastry (I assume from the croffles) which is just delightful! First time here but not the last - we'll be back to try the brunch for sure!

The waiter was very friendly and gave great recommendations. He estimated how long the food would take and checked that we were happy with our food. The food was great quality, beautifully presented and there was a large variety of options. It was a reasonable value for money and the atmosphere was very peaceful and pleasant.

The most delicious desserts at Heavenly Desserts at Castleford. Our server was Kadir and he was very attentive and informative, all the staff that we encountered today gave impeccable service. The smell of crepes and waffles hits you as soon as you walk in and the menu is extensive, it can be hard to choose. Great value for money too. We all enjoyed the desserts and we will definitely be returning.

-January 2025 visit: This branch of Heavenly Desserts is quite simply outstanding; the staff are all highly accomodating, their desserts are utterly delectable and the ambience is one that is thoroughly enticing. The greatest praise is reserved for the manager of this branch, for they go above and beyond in ensuring that every diner is served with respect, consideration and care. Kudos to you all on creating a wonderful establishment. I can state without equivocation that this is the jewel in the crown of the Heavenly Desserts organisation. I never consider going anywhere else when I need my sweet tooth satiating - and now that they do brunch too, my savoury tastebuds can rejoice too! Thank you to the staff for achieving such excellent standards of service. -July 2025 visit: I felt compelled to write this update, for I returned to this wonderful establishment. The memory of the aforementioned visit above dictated that I must satisfy my tastebuds with their confectionery goodness once again. I was greeted by the manager of the branch with the highest level of courtesy, respect and warmth. She took the time to personally seat me at the table. I have never met a manager so affable, accommodating and approachable in equal measure. It is no surprise to me that this branch of Heavenly Desserts delivers consistent excellence in their pursuit of dessert perfection, because the branch is a reflection of the manager’s classy character. I tried the delightfully named Monkey bread, milk cake and cappuccino. The Monkey bread was satisfyingly moreish; the juxtaposition of cinnamon, warm caramel and nuts alongside vanilla ice cream was utterly delightful. This was my first time trying milk cake, and I can safely state, it shall not be my last: each bite was delicate yet powerful. The cappuccino was crafted with high quality coffee beans. I devoured every item with the greatest of joy. I was overjoyed to have visited this branch again, and I want to give my utmost thanks to the staff and manager in particular, for their hard work and endeavour. May this branch continue to receive the accolades that it so thoroughly deserves!

We came to the castleford restaurant tonight 26/07/25 19:15 to be extremely disappointed with the service received. We ordered biscoff cookie dough which was over done more like w cookie. biscoff french toast which was cold and a share of strawberrys with white chocolate sauce. Milk shake and orange juice (both drinks where fine) The waiter who took our order was rude hardly acknowledged us. For the most part he was stood behind the counter playing his personal music on his phone. After taking our order he came over to say there was no white chocolate sauce so the strawberrys and the cookie dough would be without poor stock management. Other customers at the time also seemed disappointed with the service provided as i saw one couple getting extra spoons and forks from other tables after asking and waiting for then to be brought to them and clearly not receiving them. All in very poor and disappointing wish id gone to the more local one on my way home which has been great on every visit

August 2025 update One man band on a Wednesday night, waffle was unevenly cooked, one side was thicker than the other, the thinner side was hard... Not quite burnt but near there. I understand price increase due to the economy, but compared to previously, it doesn't seem to be as good value in terms of taste, as I would pay good money for the desserts here. Guy working on his own deserves credit, but as you was serving and making the food yourself the standard for the branding has dropped on this occasion. Based on today's food 3/5 . . . . . Just left here and had to write a review. Upon entering I was greeted by a young lad ( team leader Joseph?) And I knew I had gone * home* to heavenly dessert. This was my first time at this branch and the service is amazing, just how it is and how heavenly dessert are known for. Ordered a American waffle, two shakes and a crepe. My order was slightly wrong but they rectified it with no problem or any question asked Waitresses was great and friendly smile as well Food... Just as good , the pistachio shake is so yummy!!! Excellent service from the team thank you Castleford branch

The Kings Croft Hotel in South Yorkshire is a charming country hotel that offers private and comfortable accommodations. Situated in a serene and picturesque location, this hotel provides guests with the convenience of Wi-Fi access. It also boasts an on-site restaurant, bar, and event space for various occasions. With its beautiful surroundings and well-maintained quarters, the Kings Croft Hotel is an excellent choice for those seeking a peaceful retreat in the countryside.
I booked one of the 'bungalows' that sit away from the main hotel. It was spacious and comfortable, although I suspect the tiles floors would get very cold in winter. No aircon, but a fan was provided which did the job and had been turned on before I arrived. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was also spacious. The shower was hot and fairly powerful but the enclosure leaves room for water to escape into the wider bathroom area. Fast and efficient service at Reception. Plenty of parking space directly outside the bungalows and a nice little patio area outside with furniture. Room was well stocked with tea/coffee etc and this was topped up daily. Would definitely stay here again if I'm on the area for work.

Staff were fantastic especially concerning my allergies, l have never had such a good experience with that regard. Food was very tasty ! Our room was huge though the bathroom was odd - could just be us being old fashioned! All in all, very much enjoyed our stay!

I waited 2 days after one of my worst stays in a hotel to write my review after being told by front of house staff that they would look into why my booking went so horribly wrong and no one has contacted me since they got my money. So this shows me and also future stayers how much they actually respect the people who stay at their hotel. Everything was fine till I arrived and as I was walking in I noticed a wedding reception (may I add the hotel layout is not the best, as you walk in the main bar is in front of you meaning you have to navigate round people to get to the reception then do it again to get the the stairs. Can be awkward if you've got a few bags and it's busy with people drinking. Wouldn't say that's ideal if you're going with kids). When I checked in that's when I found out I was in the main hotel not ones away from it, but I didn't realise the rooms had no sound proofing done to them till I went to go to sleep about 10pm, music loud enough I couldn't sleep and then at midnight when that stopped the drunk people being vocal and banging in their rooms till around 1am. On to the room I booked executive the room was large but the bathroom was tiny just big enough for 1, the view of what looked like the back of the kitchen and trees was poor. Unfortunately can't rate the breakfast as I slept through it due to having next to no quality sleep. When I raised this with the front of house staff they said the booking person kieran has put something on my booking so they didn't move me and they would wait for this person to come in before dealing with it. I've waited 2 days and nothing. As long as they get your money they have no real care if you get a decent stay. I wouldn't recommend this place ever to anyone who values being shown respect on their stay.

We attended an 80th birthday party here and had a great evening. The 3 course meal was delicious and the service was great. There were free casino tables for entertainment which were great fun. I have to give a special mention to the young lady working on the black Jack table who was a great laugh and made the experience even more enjoyable. All staff encountered were very friendly and approachable. The rooms were nice and clean with a very comfortable bed and although our room had no windows it did have an electric skylight roof window which also had an electric complete blackout blind making the room pitch black. There was a very good buffet style breakfast included and this wonderful hotel is set on beautiful grounds with lots of outdoor seating and tables.

I cannot thank Kings Croft enough for hosting our wedding last weekend. From start to finish, I couldn’t fault them. All staff were attentive and friendly, and were quick to reply to my never ending questions! On the day, the staff couldn’t do enough for us. The food was the best wedding food we’ve ever had! Amazing!

The venue was great with some lovely views and plenty of seating outside for a drink in the sun. The room i stayed in was also clean and well maintained the only issue was it was hot at night with no air con although they did supply a fan in each room which helped. The food a pricing was very good as was the experience in general the only thing I can mention is if you wanted a drink from the bar you had to ask around the corner at the reception but this is very close to the bar and wasn't a major issue at all. If I was in this area again I would stay here again.

A very nice stay, price was excellent and the food was very good. A couple of things that let the hotel down was, even though the staff worked extremely hard they were obviously under staffed, the gardens and surrounding areas were of a very high standard manicured extremely well, the gardener can only be congratulated on the pride he takes in his job, he needs a rise in his pay!

Fast food restaurant
McDonald's, a renowned and enduring fast-food establishment celebrated for its delectable hamburgers and crispy fries, has garnered a reputation for its vast network of locations. While acknowledging that some customers express dissatisfaction with the chain, it is essential to approach this critique impartially. Upon early arrival, the process of cleaning had commenced - an aspect deserving commendation. The amiable cleaner executed their duties diligently; however, minor imperfections on the wiped tables were detected.
We decided to stop by whilst at the Sunflower fields, due to the long queues we decided it’s best to stop inside. The staff were fine, food arrived correctly and nothing to complaint about. The parking was crazy, I think they were asking customers to pull up but there weren’t enough parking spaces for customers to stop in and I could see the same car circling the McDonald’s 2 or 3 times. It was funny to watch but poor them.

Wouldn’t give this restaurant the time of day if my life depended on it. Ordered an hour and half ago, and it arrived 15 minutes ago. Triple cheeseburger, chicken sharebox, medium fries. All came cold, not even lukewarm. They left the cheeseburger standing for 50 whole minutes before it arrived. Typical McDonald’s fashion, dips and straws were not put in the order. As much as I’d like to blame Uber eats for this, their incompetence and the uselessness of this McDonald’s combined has ended in a disaster. Well done both parties involved… not.

Absolutely Rubbish Orders for deliveries are printed off the machine so they are become ready in the apps. But nobody make anything, they just stick this orders everywhere around and don't bother. When courier asked its been always ignored!!! Couriers represent customers but nobody cares. This place should be closed or proper management should be employed ... Do not be supprised if your order is cold or you don't get it...

Only had a drink and fries today. Went through the drive thru. The staff all really lovely and friendly. The fries today were the best I’ve had from Mac’s in a long time. Properly cooked and crispy. Just how they were years ago. Well done macs

Food was fine when we got it. Marked down because multiple customers (including us) were given the wrong orders. Was quickly rectified, but shouldn't have happened.

One of the worst McDonalds you can go to. Always beyond busy, meaning they don't have enough staff or the building is too small to serve their large customer base. you either wait for 20mins inside for your order or you're in a drive through queue that goes off site and end up blocking the nearby major roundabout. No wonder McD's is doing so poorly. It's neither fast food nor cheap these days.

There a lot of poor reviews I notice and I could be over critical but I'll try to be fair. I was there early and cleaning was starting to take place, and was needed, cleaner was lovely and polite but noticed tables were not 100% after a wipe down. Too many maccys lately are forgetting cleaning is different from wiping down. Muffin came slightly hard, which I quite liked actually, yet not how it's meant. Service staff was very good, and my order came with serviettes and sauce, which I believe is a basic requirement at maccys which some outlets too often forget. I would return.

Cold fries replace by more cold fries, chicken wrap was not good. Dunno how you can make a bad mcds meal but they managed today
