Park
Nature & Parks
Sanders Park, situated in the heart of Bromsgrove, is a beloved urban sanctuary that appeals to both locals and tourists. The park boasts lush greenery, a serene lake, recreational facilities for sports enthusiasts, and play areas for children. It's an ideal destination for leisurely walks, family picnics, or friendly sports activities. Additionally, Sanders Park hosts various community events and seasonal concerts throughout the year.
Amidst the crisp whisper of autumn, Sanders Park emerges as a sanctuary draped in a mosaic of fiery hues—reds, oranges, and lingering greens. Each path winds through this serene tableau, lined with trees that, like seasoned painters, splash their colours boldly across the sky's vast canvas. The air is cool and fresh, tinged with the earthy scent of damp leaves that carpet the ground, offering a satisfying crunch underfoot. Each corner of the park is a quiet ode to tranquillity, from the gentle undulation of the grassy fields to the placid lake, reflecting the transient beauty of the season like a perfect, still mirror. Children's laughter rings out from the playground, a lively contrast to the subdued rustling of the foliage, creating a symphony of joyous noise that dances with the whispering breeze. Park benches, strategically placed, invite contemplative souls to sit and soak in the scenery, perhaps with a warm drink in hand, savouring the cool whisper of the wind. Sanders Park, in autumn, offers not just a walk but a vivid experience, wrapped in the embrace of nature’s gentle decay. It stands as a testament to the quiet glory of the season, a place where every visitor can pause, reflect, and be at peace amidst the grand, sweeping dance of autumn’s golden tapestry.

Sanders Park is a nice spot for a peaceful walk in the fresh air. The open space is perfect for a gentle stroll, with plenty of benches scattered around for relaxing and taking in the surroundings. The park is very clean and clearly well maintained by the staff, which makes the visit even more enjoyable. There’s a large playground that’s ideal for children, and a skate ramp area for those a bit more energetic, we saw a few people enjoying it while we were there. For tennis enthusiasts, there are tennis courts and other areas suited for team games and activities. There’s also an outdoor gym for those looking to get a workout in while enjoying the outdoors. The small on site café serves both hot and cold drinks, along with snacks like crisps, cakes, chips, and ice cream, perfect for a quick treat. Parking wasn’t an issue either, even on a busy Saturday with plenty of families around. There’s even a small lake which adds to the calm and charm of the park. All in all, a great place to unwind & enjoy nature.
Indi — Google review
Lovely place on a hot summers day a massive playground for the children parking free on site plus toilets free as well lots of acres to play in a pond as well no fishing brilliant and well looked after park 😀 dog friendly and dinosaur friendly 😀 lots of picnic benches as well
Matthew B — Google review
The park is a lovely place for a dog walk or a play on swings with kids. It does flood quite heavily in winter or heavy rains but there is a hard standing loop if you don't want to get muddy.
Sophie M — Google review
Really nice place for a gentle walk out in the open. Plenty of benches dotted around with a huge playground for children. For the more energetic, there is an area with skate ramps where we also saw some BMX bike users showing their skills. Well kept by the staff and very clean everywhere we went. There is a small cafe where you can purchase hot and cold drinks along with snacks such as cakes, crisps, ice cream and chips etc. There are tennis courts and other areas for the more sporty team players. Parking was not bad despite being a Sunday and loads of families out enjoying the park.
Barry H — Google review
Beautiful park with plenty to do all year round. I walk my dogs in this park daily and it never gets boring! There is a great playground for younger children, a skate park and basketball/ football court for older children, a cafe and a tennis court that you can hire! Plenty to do and a great, cheap day out!
Victoria L — Google review
There is something for everyone at this lovely park. Clean and well kept there is the delight of a brass band on a Sunday afternoon to an excellent arrangement of play equipment for under 12's. We found the perfect space for those wanting to hare around on their bikes and scooters if you're not quite brave enough for the purpose built ramps. When the kids are all played out, you can find a shady spot for a picnic topped off with an icecream from the café. Just be aware they prefer cash. The perfect place for a sunny afternoon.
Carrie P — Google review
Samples of parking, tennis courts that have to be paid for and booked online,2 basketball courts that are free, skateboard park, cafe that sells hot drinks, panninis, doggy ice cream etc.play park with swings etc, duck pond.ideal place to walk dogs, has lots of activities in the summer, carnivals, fetes.toilets also and blue badge spaces.

Pub
Bar
Nestled in the heart of Bromsgrove, Ye Olde Black Cross is a historic gem that dates back to 1640. Once a holding pen for condemned criminals, this charming pub now boasts an inviting atmosphere filled with community spirit and tales of ghostly encounters. Visitors rave about its delicious homemade roast dinners and lively entertainment options, including live music that sets the perfect backdrop for a night out.
We held our wedding reception at the black cross on 11th October. We were given the whole front bar. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were extremely accommodating and helped make our special day a perfect one!
Tim B — Google review
As a long time regular of this pub, I have seen many different flavours of landlords and staff over the years but it hasn't been anything like it has since Jay and Stace took over. The pub is spotless and they have turned the place around massively due to enforcing hard rules and etiquette that you would expect to see. If these roles aren't adhered to, it's made very clear that you aren't welcome. The pub is a great place to relax and the bad behavior seen in recent times has disappeared for the most part. This attitude has fed into their staff who work hard and go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Blayk and Savannah behind the bar are fantastic, half the time I don't even need to order as I'm that old and boring that they know what I'm having, the other half of the time drinks are there waiting for me and my fiancée as they noticed we were getting empty. Over all, it's in a really good place and I hope it lasts. We truly feel like we have our home.

Stopped by Ye Olde Black Cross in Bromsgrove and had a genuinely lovely experience. A big shout-out to Blayk, who was behind the bar—his enthusiasm, friendliness, and great energy really stood out. He made everyone feel welcome and engaged brilliantly with both myself and other customers. The pub itself has a warm and friendly atmosphere, decent food, and a fantastic historic touch—a glass-covered well dating back to 1640, which is a really cool feature you don’t see every day. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area—especially if Blayk’s working!

What a brilliant find! The perfect old country pub - but in the town. Great beer and good friendly welcome. Pool table in a separate area and easy wheelchair access through the sun trap beer garden and ramp access to a comfortable and welcoming lounge. My favourite part of the dog walk through Sanders Park and on to Ye Olde Black Cross for a lunchtime pint. Yes these lovely folk welcome well behaved dogs with well behaved people! UPDATE 😁😁new management. Determined to make a a mark. Great beer good prices and wonderful food in a great atmosphere.

Absolutely great food, Chef was very warm and welcoming, bright smiles all round. Bar staff kicked up a great conversation which brought smiles to my face. Jay and Stacey are a pleasure to be around and will 100% be coming again!

Just popped in for a pint with the pooch as we were passing by. The barman immediately offered dog treats upon entry, which were gratefully snapped up by the pooch. A short while later, a young man collecting menus from the tables, stopped what he was doing and bought the pooch a bowl of water and a couple more dog treats - such a really polite young man to speak to, too. I'd actually walked the entire High Street looking for somewhere to pop into for a beer with the pooch and this was the first place that looked inviting. Thanks for a lovely couple of pints, great staff, and for being so dog friendly.

I attended the open day at St John's Church in Bromsgrove Town center, a charming church adorned with beautiful stained glass windows. Despite the rain, my husband couldn't reach the top outside due to safety concerns. Inside, there were facilities offering teas, coffees, and homemade cakes. Children could participate in a treasure trail search while second-hand books were available for purchase.
Visited the open day at St John's in Bromsgrove Town centre. It is a lovely church with stained glass windows. My husband went up the tower but not allowed to the top outside part as it was raining , too slippery! Teas and coffees were available with home made cakes , a treasure trail search fir children to participate in and second hand books for sale. There were also some very interesting old record books from 1600's and 1700's to look up family names if you were from the area. The gentleman was very helpful. Also spoke to a lady promoting other literature from the area and she was also very friendly and helpful. Look forward to visiting again next year when it will hopefully be dry and we can enjoy the activity in the park.

This was a really beautiful building, the church looked lovely from the outside, but sadly it was closed so I could not go inside. The church and the grounds were all well maintained and cared for. There was a funny notice on there board, see picture. Parking opposite costing £1 an hour.

Lovely old church. My visit was to see the ensign of the ship my father had served on during WW2. As the plaque explains.

St John’s Church is a wonderful old building, but with a vibrant Christian witness in the town. The church often has open days and local historians on hand to answer questions. There is a fine organ, which no doubt has its own history, but it is used to good effect in regular Sunday worship
Keith T — Google review
Went for the open day, we were able to climb up the steps to the tower and ring the bells,I believe this is a once a year event, so very lucky. Church itself is very pretty, and some parts date back nearly 1000 years.

Anglican church in the most prominent site in Bromsgrove. Stained glass is amazing. Beautiful architecture. Services every Sunday at 10.45am and evensong too. Occasional music group and long-standing choir of all ages which sings anthems etc. Great organist.

Nestled in Bromsgrove, United Kingdom, Midland Waterlife Ltd has been a beloved destination for animal enthusiasts since its inception in 1966 by John Partridge. Originally named "Midland Bird and Animal Gardens," this charming zoo has evolved into a haven for those eager to learn about diverse species from around the globe. Beyond its captivating exhibits, Midland Waterlife boasts an impressive shop that is often hailed as the best in the area.
Outstanding shop, amazing customer service and a treasure trove of stock! Best in the area for stock/variety and knowledge. The staff are so nice and friendly and what they don’t know about aquatics isn’t worth knowing. Can’t recommend highly enough! The shop seems to go on forever despite not looking that big on the outside, they had everything and an awful lot more that I needed and even open 7 days a week! Wonderful, thanks Midkand Waterlife, I will be back lots more both online and in person.
Nellie E — Google review
What a fabulous find! Travelled from Worcester today (only 25mins) and very easy to park near and walk to. The shop was fantastic! So much stock (fish, plants, accessories, food etc) and really helpful staff who both took the time to advise and help me find everything I needed for my new aquarium. Would highly recommend this shop to anyone in the area or anyone from a distance, as its hard to find place like this with the knowledge and stock. I will be back to choose my Betta soon, once new tank is cycled. Thanks for your help.
Laura E — Google review
It was genuinely distressing to see fish kept in tiny, bare tanks — no space to swim, nothing to explore, just glass walls and endless stillness. Research shows that cramped environments raise cortisol levels (Groeneweg et al., 2011), leaving fish lethargic, anxious, and unable to express natural behaviours (Schroeder et al., 2016). It’s a form of silent suffering — like living your whole life in a cupboard. These are sentient creatures, not decorations (Sneddon, 2019). Larger, enriched tanks aren’t just kinder — they show respect for life, and more and more customers do notice. I really hope the store rethinks this. The fish deserve better. I’m not against the sale of fish — I actually came in hoping to buy some. But I was concerned by the conditions, and felt I couldn’t walk away without saying something. I know this might be hard to read, but it’s said with genuine respect. It’s not about blame — just the hope that, like many shops are starting to do, you might consider making small changes that could really improve life for the fish. I believe most people, including the owner, want to do the right thing when they’re given the chance.

1st time here for a birthday celebration. Service was superb, there was plenty of banter with the waiters, and they were all pleasant. The food was really tasty and piping hot. There are too many dishes to recommend, but I will be going back to try more. Do not give this place a miss.

Last week, I had the pleasure of celebrating a birthday at MELT, a vibrant eatery that has quickly become a favorite in Bromsgrove since its opening in 2021. This lively spot on High Street is known for its delicious pizzas and mouthwatering burgers, complemented by an impressive selection of beers. The atmosphere was warm and inviting as we arrived with friends, and the service was exceptional—shoutouts to Naomi and Fran for their attentive care!
Food was lovely. Good service and a nice atmosphere for a Saturday lunch time. Lasagna bites were 👌🏼😍

Came here for drinks and an early birthday celebration. Wonderful friendly staff who were an absolute pleasure. 2for1 cocktails were very tasty and the food was delicious. I had 2 items from the small plate menu those being the pork belly bites and the meatballs. Very tasty

We have been twice now and have had amazing meals. We have tried the majority of the menu between us and it is all amazing. Truly a great place to eat and great environment too. Cocktails are top quality and the peanut butter pie is to die for!!! Jake F has served us both times and has been great, always happy to recommend items on the menu too. Fast service. Great food and staff. What more could you ask for!

Been meaning to write a review of this place for a while. My wife and I have been many times since it opened and have brought friends and family along too. We have never been disappointed - it is one of the best and most reliable places to eat in Bromsgrove. The atmosphere is great, staff friendly and the quality and variety of food and drink on offer is excellent. It’s great value too and service is always fast. I hope it continues to do well, if it was somewhere in Birmingham or London it would be fully booked 7 days a week but I feel in Bromsgrove it is still a little unknown. If you’re thinking of giving it a try, go, you won’t be disappointed. And pass on recommendations to others too as Bromsgrove needs this and more similar places like it on its ailing high street.

Where to start this gem? From the website, the ordering process was super easy. But the kids loved the look of the food and wanted to go in, so we booked and headed over. Lots of parking near by. Walked into the restaurant and it was a very nice atmosphere. We were greeted quickly, lewis and Minnie went above and beyond throughout our entire visit. The kids were spoken to by each server, which they loved. The food was amazing. The OG Burger is mouth watering good! The pizza's are so moreish! We quickly ordered and the food arrived very quickly. It was cooked beautifully and full of flavour. The owner popped by and asked how we found the food, we told him it was amazing. The kids took interest in the oven, I explained how it worked. But Minnie and the owner got them involved in a pizza making session. It was do heart warming. The kids loved it. The business is run professionally and without any hiccups. The food tastes amazing. They've gained a customer for life now. If it isn't me, it definitely is my kids. Thank you so much to all of the team. What a wholesome and enjoyable experience.

Been a couple of times now and can’t fault Melt. The food is always good, service speedy and friendly (bonus - they always bring the kids stuff out first!) and the soundtrack is normally 00’s/10’s indie, which is fully my jam. Highly recommend!

Great food and staff. I had the large blue cheese chicken wings, which had about 9 pieces. It was actually a mix of thighs and wings but still good. Gunpowder fries are great. Chicken strips are good quality. DOG FRIENDLY! Don't sit by the door/front of restaurant, really cold due to aircon. Upper part of restaurant is much better

Step into a world where the charm of the 1920s meets modern sports enthusiasm at The Dry Spy, nestled in Knowle, Solihull. This unique bar aims to elevate your typical sports viewing experience by offering an elegant ambiance that appeals to those with refined tastes. While patrons rave about the delightful cocktails and delectable dishes like sea bass and beef pot pie, some have noted that the music selection can be a bit mismatched for certain occasions—think lively beats during a relaxed Sunday lunch!
Four of us have just had Sunday lunch. The food was outstanding and the portions were huge. The waitress's were very attentive. My brother received a birthday card signed by the staff containing a £10 gift voucher, off his next meal, plus a personalised birthday dessert. Our pet hates when dining out are: long delays between the main course's arrival and then the veg, then having to wait for sauces/condiment, by which time the food is cold. None of that at the Dry Spy, everything arrived together, plus, lashing's of tasty gravy. The desserts were just as outstanding. Will do definitely return again

My son and I popped into Dry Spy Bar in Bromsgrove and were seriously impressed! The staff are super friendly and make you feel welcome straight away. The food was spot on, even the “bar snacks” were generous portions, cooked perfectly, and great value for money. Honestly, you’d expect to pay more for this quality. The beer selection is brilliant, with the XPA being a real standout, crisp, full of flavour, and perfect with the food. Upstairs has a lovely open-air seating area with cover for when it rains, comfy sofas, and great table service, a brilliant space to relax. We lucked out visiting on a Wednesday when they do £1 wings, good size, great sauces, and definitely not the tiny “sparrow wings” you sometimes get. Such a good experience we went back the very next day! A real gem for chilled vibes, great food, and well-priced drinks.

Brunch is over priced for a tiny portion of food, I had steak and eggs had one tiny egg and asked for the steak rare it was well done tough as an old boot and like a child's portion, my daughter and fiancees food was awful aswell. Service was good until we wanted to leave no one came to collect our things or give us the bill so we had to go down to the bar and pay. The rooftop is nice but would definitely not recommend for brunch

I had a brilliant experience at Slug and Lettuce, thanks in no small part to our server, "The Wildmen." The service was absolutely top-notch from start to finish. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and just an all-around sound bloke. The food and drinks were great, but his fantastic attitude and great energy really made the evening. He's a true credit to the team, and I'd recommend him to anyone visiting. Cheers, mate!

I came here with 12 friends for bottomless brunch. We had great food and lots of drinks - the waitress (Evie) was super attentive, even coming out to the smoking area to check what our next drinks order was. Thanks so much as you made my friend’s birthday bottomless super special and lots of fun. Highly recommend!

It is an interesting and well cared for collection of buildings. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff and volunteers. Had a tasty lunch in the tea room, though, despite a busy weekend , it hadn't fully stocked up on everything. Great weather made it an enjoyable day. Would happily recommend it.

Always a pleasure to visit. Knowledgeable staff, lovely Artisan sausage rolls and good selection of drinks. Recommended. Lovely in autumn.

Hidden gem! So enjoyed our visit here. Many relocated building’s of great interest laid out in wonderful green space. Collection of telephone boxes including The Tardis!!! A windmill fully working and run by volunteers was a lovely experience. Newly refurbished showman’s wagon only opened a few days ago. The “Prefab” was so interesting and we enjoyed a chat with the couple in period attire inside. Well worth a visit - highly recommend. Disability access throughout - entering some of the buildings may be problematic depending upon disability. Disabled parking spaces available and disabled toilet. Cafe set in an old building provided much needed cake and coffee too!

Really interesting afternoon at Avoncroft seeing all the old buildings including a presentation from a lovely bloke who showed us how the windmill works. Lovely cafe with great sausage rolls and pasties. Plenty of picnic benches to sit outside to eat. It's all dog friendly too inc the cafe which is a big thumbs up from us.

Walked past the museum today with my 9 year old son, which we’ve done many times but today he asked to go in. We’ve never gone in before as it looks so small from the outside but it’s really not. So many interesting things to see. It was a really fun afternoon. The volunteers there were really lovely and so great with my son. He had a quiz sheet to find a selection of items which kept him entertained for a good hour. Definitely worth a visit!!

Nestled in a charming locale, The Priory Café is a delightful spot that promises an exceptional dining experience. Visitors rave about the warm hospitality of owner Martin and his team, who go above and beyond to ensure every meal is memorable. Whether you're grabbing a takeaway or enjoying a sit-down breakfast, the food consistently impresses with its quality and flavor. From hearty full English breakfasts to delicious bacon and brie baps, each dish is crafted with care.
Lovely little cafe with lots of menu choices. Food is lovely hot and cooked well. Too many tables as your sat really close to the next tables and have trouble getting in and out your seat.
Tracey K — Google review
The team at Priory cafe gave us excellent service when we stopped for a cycling break today. The food was great quality, hot, plentiful, tasty and good value for money. My "small" breakfast filled the plate, was served promptly and was one of the best I've had. The staff were very nice too.
Diana H — Google review
First visit for some considerable time and an excellent experience it was. Fantastic full English Breakfast and Bacon & Brie Bap at great prices. Lovely coffee and cheerful, pleasent service. Fully intend to return on a more regular basis.
Phil S — Google review
I have eaten here plenty of times in the past. However, it has steadily declined with the change in owners, and I will not be eating at this establishment anymore. The last 3 times I have been, my portion sizes have been halved, still charging the full amount (Curry & Chips). When I asked for a large portion, I was told that isn't available, and I'd have to buy double to get the same food I've had in the past. Following this, I tried burger and chips again, portion size was small, and the burger didn't have anything on it, no condiments, and was extremely dry. There has been an increase in flies and wasps taking home within the establishment, which is not only off putting to eat but incredibly annoying. I'm not sure if this is the African twist that is being pushed from the business, but it's a no from me. I'm done being left disappointed, frustrated, and hungry.

We were looking for a caterer to provide a buffet for our Dad's funeral wake as the venue were unable to provide on this occasion due to staff holidays. We called in to the Priory cafe to enquire if they catered for buffets and could deliver to our venue. Martin and Gail were great they explained what the options were and we decided to place the order. Well I have to say what a fantastic service they provided. The sandwich platters were incredible with a selection of I think at least six varieties all of them filled with generous quality fillings and the picnic platters were beautiful too. Everyone complimented on the buffet and I have no hesitation in recommending The Priory Cafe, they were amazing 🙏.

Food is great but tracking was incorrect said it had arrived when in reality it arrived 20 minutes later. We ended up ordering twice thinking it went missing. This would not have happened if they picked up the phone. We called several times when the order went missing and to cancel the second order. I don’t recommend using this restaurant or just eat.

Me and my partner always visit the mint lounge when we're in Bromsgrove. We usually visit in the week so it's not very busy, which is perfect for us as I know from previous experience it's hard to get a table on a weekend. The food is very nice. A relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff.

I wouldn’t routinely review takeaways on here however Mint Lounge deserve to be praised for their consistently tasty food, great portion sizes and incredibly quick delivery. Delivery was on time, the driver was polite. Food was hot. Ordered 3 meat dishes for me and my partner to try. 2stars due to there only being 4 small bits of meat in each pot n loads of sauce. Great local theatre. Good tiered seating and not too big so you don't feel "lost" in the audience. Great viewing of the stage. Needs more seating down stairs by the bar area though.

First time here and I really enjoyed it. It is a jewel of a place in terms of theatrical potential. Plenty of live entertainment, if a little too much in the way of 'tribute bands' on offer for me. Will keep my eyes open for their theatre offerings in the future. The stage and seating arrangements are good for a venue of this size.

Visited this lovely little theatre last week for the first time & really liked it - staff friendly, comfy seating, good acoustics. Plenty of parking right outside, there's a pub/restaurant right across the road if you fancy getting something beforehand, and an onsite bar in the lobby too. We saw Eagles tribute band TALON performing their acoustic show, which was as good as ever. Usually they play at the Core Theatre in Solihull but this venue is being used instead atm as that place has had some issues of late I believe. Hopefully I'll get to return here at some point as I really couldn't fault anything. Thanks so much 👍

Thanks for hosting a fantastic 90th birthday party. Took us ages to find the right venue for our grandad’s celebrations and so glad we settled on the golf club. We had a section of the restaurant cordoned off for 45 people and it was perfect. The room was warm and beautifully decorated, the food was fantastic. I normally avoid buffets like the plague but it was freshly prepared with hot and cold options. They even gave us boxes for people to take anyway the leftovers. What really set it apart, though, was the staff. Every single person we dealt with was friendly, welcoming and went above and beyond to make the party a success. Been here a few times, course is lovely, well kept as a whole. Unfortunately blonde woman behind the reception was very grumpy. Was another guy who was nice told us there were plenty of buggy’s available, he then left (4pm) and got replaced by the grumpy woman who was anything but welcoming and didn’t allow us to have a buggy. After this, we finished our golf at 8pm to find we had been locked in the car park. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was the blonde woman being too lazy to wait for people to leave! Gate states it shuts at 10pm. Luckily a grounds man was still there and was able to take us out the back route which was far too tight for a car (40 mins later).

The golf course is one of my favorites to play, always in great condition. The bar & restaurant service is excellent and welcomes non-golfers. I just can't believe how such a gem should be under a compulsory purchase order to provide housing, when it is such a great local amenity.
Ivan C — Google review
This is a very freindly club with excellenet facilities. I bought new clubs with help and guidance from Gary who was excellent. He let me take my time and I didn't feel pressurised to make a purchase. They have transformed my game. The clubs were delayed especially the putter but the shop lent me a similar putter until mine came in - great customer service. I can't recommend them enough.

Crackin course but you need a buggy 🥵 it's hard work walking up and down all them hills. Tee boxes and fairways were in superb condition and the greens are a credit to the grounds keepers. Nice to have ball washers and divot repair seeded soil and pouches on all the tee's. Keep it out of the trees and you'll have a great day.
Peter G — Google review
Great set up. Very strange seeing the clothing etiquette so relaxed but apart from that. Very enjoyable day.

Fantastic course, booked thought tee off times to save £10. Staff very friendly, course conditions very good considering the amount of rain we've had. Strongly recommended.

Rosedene is a charming destination with an informative and friendly tour guide. The talks about the Chartists were fascinating, providing new knowledge for visitors. The site has well-designed information boards and an excellent guidebook, showcasing the effort put into its restoration. It is advisable to check opening times before visiting, as they are limited. Additionally, the grounds offer a delightful space for children to play while there is also a convenient car park with pristine restroom facilities available.
What a lovely place. Super knowledgeable, friendly guide. Very interesting talk about the Chartists (didn't know anything about them before we went but do now). Lots of information boards and a super guidebook. A lot of work went into restoring this property. Check out times before you go as it's not open that frequently. Lovely grounds for children to have a quick romp. Super carpark with very clean toilets. Would recommend a visit.

Unique location Chartist cottage. Excellent guide, John showed us around, giving context of Chartist movement and particular history of the cottage and the people who lived there before it became a National Trust site.

A real treat to visit Rosedene today. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides led us through the lives of the family that lived there, through the house and into the garden Enchanting. Thank you.

Recently visited Rosdene cottage, although only a small property, it was a very interesting visit. Our National Trust hosts were great, well versed in the period history that lead to the establishment of "Chartist Cottages" and happy to answer all of our questions. I believe visit by appointment is necessary, please check as I didn't make the arrangements. Allow an hour for the visit.

Drove past Rosdene while delivering Pizza to nearby Dodford Residents - never been inside - must get round to a proper visit and learn more about how the Chartist founders of Great Dodford lived back in the mid 19th Century

If you're on the hunt for a delightful fish and chips experience, look no further than Ideal Fish & Chips. This charming independent eatery is known for its warm welcome and exceptional customer service, making every visit feel special. The fish is generously sized, encased in a perfectly crispy batter that complements the tender flakes of cod inside. Their chips are equally impressive—golden and cooked to perfection with generous portions that will leave you satisfied.
Terry and his team always welcome you with a a big smile the customer service is spot on a small independent that takes pride in their shop. The fish and chips are lovely. The fish is a great size with crispy batter and think flakes of perfectly cooked fish the chips are beautifully cooked and the portions sizes are huge. When visiting a must try is there Irish curry sauce, sweeter than the usual but gosh it’s good. If you’re looking for a chippy this is the place to go to!

I find ideal very hit and miss. Ie.the last time I visited it was okay but the time before the fish and chips wasn't very warm and the chips were just dried bits. They had just cooked fresh but I got the end off the previous cook. It's no good complaining as they don't take any notice. Waste of your breath.
Leslie F — Google review
I ‘m very happy with my meal from ideal’s. The service and quality are top tier. The cod was tasty and light. I like how the food is not dripping in grease. The portion sizes are generous. I will definitely be returning 👍🏽

Paid £6 for the smallest fish ive ever been served more batter than fish. Over priced and average food (this was about 6 weeks ago couldn’t leave a review at the time so came back now as I feel it’s needed) 👍

Very welcoming as you walk in & customer service is 10/10, always happy to help and the food never disappoints, best fish and chips in Bromsgrove! My Nan said ‘same time next week’ - happy customers :) thank you!

Food was fresh and tasted great, the portion sizes were brill for the money. Staff were very friendly and polite. Deffinately visit again
Jade C — Google review
Today I ordered 4 LARGE chips and 4 curry sauces to feed several of us for lunch. I asked if these were a large portion as looked rather small to me to be told that they were trying to cut back on waste.. well shouldn't that be upto me as a customer if I waste what I pay for? Any other chip shop I have been too would serve 2 of those trays as a large. Disappointed as this cost me £22 quid and there was barely enough to go round!

The restaurant offers aromatic dishes and warm hospitality, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Known for its hot curries like vindaloo, tandoori chicken, Bombay Aloo, and Dhansak, Chennai Lounge stands out for its exceptional food quality.
Our favourite Indian restaurant in the area. We started ordering when Covid started and now finally went to eat it! It did not disappoint. Very lovely restaurant and the food is amazing. We will definitely come back to eat in again and won't stop ordering in either :)

I have been eating here for years, although it is slightly out of the way it is definitely worth the extra time. I recently moved out of the area and after eating at half a dozen other restaurants I will drive 45 minutes to visit as the food is excellent and consistent.

We have just had our first takeaway from Chennai-lounge and was very pleasantly surprised. It was the nicest Induan meal we have had in a long time. Service fast, food piping hot and super tasty. This is definitely our new go to for Indian food.

Lovely little place with the loveliest members of staff. Quite small and cosy, some dishes are quite mild so order the spicier dishes if you prefer your food hot but honestly cannot fault it. Love it here.

This was a random punt, coming back from Shrewsbury, I decided to book the Chennai lounge just outside Bromsgrove on the strength of its reviews. We were not disappointed. A friendly welcome and a smart dining room helped me relax further. Food was cooked fresh, and was beautifully flavoured. The price was also very reasonable. All in all faultless.

Had our first takeaway in months last night and quite honestly it was fantastic. The chicken in all dishes was amazing, succulent and tasty. Plenty of it to finish off today. Four of us ate and we all really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend. Sorry we haven't been in for ages but we've been otherwise occupied. Adele

Pub
Nestled just beyond Aston Fields, past the Rugby Club, lies The Cross Inn pub in Finstall—a delightful destination worth a 15 to 20-minute stroll from Bromsgrove Train Station. This charming country pub boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere, complemented by an impressive selection of around ten real ales on tap. Guests rave about the generous cobs and hearty snacks like cheese and onion rolls or black pudding Scotch eggs that pair perfectly with their drinks.
Great beer selection along with 5 Ciders. Food is bar snacks and cobs Dog friendly

Didn't go inside but this place has an outside area so perfect for a quick drink whilst we were in the area and it was a warm evening. Definitely somewhere to return to.

Such a lovely Black Country Ales pub here in Finstall, only issue we had was that the person in charge of our books (Dad) forgot to bring them when doing this trip home from meeting family. Won't trust him again with the books.

A lovely friendly traditional pub. Great well kept ales and delicious snacks. Cheese and onion rolls, black pudding Scotch eggs go really well with your beer! Nice outside seating area. Great staff. ( a disabled loo would make it perfect) Loved it. Thank you for your hospitality😊
DE H — Google review
Very enthusiastic bar staff here. A nice beer garden and the usual historical story of the locality adorning the walls. I had a very good Salopian ale and a cheese cob. A good choice of complimentary chutneys and pickle's. Doing a very good job here
Paul B — Google review
Very nice country pub which has been refurbished and is now under new management. The new team are very friendly and welcoming. The landlord can’t do enough for his customers, everything you ask for is ‘No Problem’. Great customer service. There's a nice log fire and a great selection of real ales at reasonable prices. The only down side is they only serve cold food, but it’s a good selection that goes particularly well with the traditional ales that are on sale. They take party bookings and will put on a buffet to suit the number of guests. I went with my family on Sunday afternoon and everybody enjoyed themselves. The food, drinks, service and atmosphere was great.
