The Veteran Museum is a captivating neo-classical establishment that delves deep into Finland's military history, showcasing an impressive array of war memorabilia. The passionate owner often leads tours, sharing his extensive knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject matter.
Fascinating place which blends the owner's family history, with that of Finland and the Second World War. It also gives you an insight as to what an older traditional Finnish household was like. Well worth a visit.

(Translated by Google) A very interesting and original museum related to Finnish military history! This is not a traditional museum – here you can touch objects, explore, read and immerse yourself in history in a completely different way than in a regular museum. The tour is led by the owner of the museum himself, who is a truly enthusiastic and knowledgeable narrator. We inadvertently arrived at the museum door at closing time, but the owner still politely took us in and gave us a quality tour of the museum’s different rooms. We heard numerous fascinating stories in the museum, including about the war, Lottery, clothing and objects, and the conversation with the owner was so interesting that we didn’t want to leave. The ticket price is 10 euros (cash payment), and it is definitely worth every cent. One of the best museums I have visited in Finland – a warm recommendation for anyone interested in history!

We experienced two of their Summer Menus. The meat, and the fish one. Appetizers and starters, as well as the desserts were all right. The main dishes, however, were something you'd expect from a gas station diner, only on a fancier plate. The waiting staff were all extremely nice, happy, and delightful. Absolutely the best part of the experience. 3/5 stars, not particularly bad, but not really great either. Without the excellent staff, it would be 2/5.

The Imatra Border Museum is a captivating destination for anyone intrigued by military history or the cultural narratives of border regions. This charming museum offers an in-depth look at the evolution of the Border Guard, showcasing its journey from inception to modern times. Visitors can explore various rooms filled with fascinating artifacts, uniforms, and maps that tell compelling stories of the past. One unique highlight is the opportunity to hold a Suomi machine gun!
We had a really nice visit. The man who showed us around really tried to give us good information even though we don't speak Finnish. If you are interested in the topic you should definitely visit it. Entrance is free!
Marek V — Google review
(Translated by Google) A must-see for those interested in military history – and why not for those interested in history or the culture of border regions. The museum presents the history of the Border Guard in detail from its founding to the present day. The exhibition is divided into different rooms, and there is a wide selection of different objects, uniforms and maps on display – you can even hold a Suomi machine gun in your hands! The guide kindly met us at the gate and led us to the museum. He spoke expertly and vividly about both the exhibition and the stages of the Border Guard. The visit lasted (at least in my case) just over an hour, about half of which was a guided part and the other half a self-guided tour – I would have liked to have stayed longer. The car was conveniently left a stone's throw away in the parking lot next to the garrison gates. There is a toilet in the museum, but there is no café or other catering. You must register for the museum at least two days in advance. Museo esittelee tiiviisti Rajavartiolaitoksen historiaa eri aikakausina perustamisesta nykypäivään.

(Translated by Google) The museum is definitely a place worth visiting, especially for those interested in military history and why not for everyone else interested in the subject. The history of the Border Guard and the border guards until today is well presented in the exhibition. The best thing about the museum tour was the guide's professional knowledge and expertise. I would have stayed longer and would have liked to listen to more stories over the years. I recommend! Suosittelen!

Grilli Seventy Seven is a delightful spot for those craving delicious burgers and traditional Finnish fast food. I stayed here in a tent for two days in June 2023. Beautiful scenery, close to everything and almost no problems with noise. The big drawback is the facilities, way too few toilets and showers available. Get a couple more toilets/showers and this would be a five star place.

Restaurant Pistaasi offers a delightful dining experience characterized by its friendly and attentive staff, ensuring that guests feel welcomed and well taken care of. The menu features a variety of options, with the food quality reflecting the number of hotel guests. While there are limited choices for small children at breakfast and dinner, parents can find comfort in the availability of porridge each morning. The dessert selection is impressive, with some evenings showcasing particularly delectable treats.
Good buffet both breakfast and dinner. The ambience and view is really nice.

We went to the a la carte restaurant, which was way past the bar and buffet area, into a room the reminded me of a high school gym rooms rather than a restaurant. The service was polite and to the point all the way. Unfortunately that was the only positive thing about the visit. The place was obviously trying to be a finer than a basic hotel restaurant with plenty of pricey options. I had ham and melon starter, which had exactly 4 tiny pieces of dried ham and couple of slices of melon. We waited for the staters around 45 minutes and it was pretty underwhelming for the price point. I ordered a pizza, which also took its sweet time to arrive and it was soggy, with the meat on it tasting mostly of grease. Didn't bother with desserts and the only enjoyable part was chatting away the first 15 minutes with a glass of wine.
