Castello di Brolio is a renowned 11th-century castle and wine estate located in the heart of Chianti. It is considered one of the oldest wineries in Italy, with a rich history dating back nearly a thousand years. The estate offers guided tours of its Renaissance gardens, small museum, and ancient castle, providing visitors with an in-depth exploration led by knowledgeable experts.
Amazing experience! A must do while you are in Tuscany. We were on the 2h30m 45€ tour (you can buy directly from the website) and it was totally worth it! At the end of the tour you get to taste 3 wines. Our guide, Vera, was great! You can find free parking right at the top near the castle entrance but the road is pretty narrow and bad. You can leave the car at the base, near the winery and climb on foot for 5-10 minutes.

We took the castle tour in the morning, which was full of fascinating historical insights. The visit was engaging and enjoyable. From one section of the walls, we could admire the best view we saw during our entire trip to Tuscany, perfect for taking photos and enjoying the stunning scenery. The tour continued with a visit to the winery, where we learned about the wine-making process. We were lucky to see the vineyards full of grapes, as it was harvest season (late September). We even watched the grapes being loaded onto tractors and taken to the winery. It was a truly beautiful and enriching experience, ending with a delicious wine tasting. Highly recommended!

Beautiful castle with a very interesting history. You can walk around the gardens and the walls. The balcony had the best views of Chianti area. You get a free wine with the ticket. The staff were nice and friendly.

WOW! We booked a private tour of the castle and it was spectacular! Our tour guide was so much fun. The wines were delicious and we ordered 6 to be shipped home. They arrived quickly and all intact. The provided lunch was also very delicious. We would highly recommend booking a private tour via their website. 100% worth it!

Best castle to visit in Tuscany. The view is so amazing and the history is great as well. We book the dinner tour and it was really worth it with the four wines tasting for dinner.
Vincent N — Google review
Loved it. We did the Wine Masterclass which was a brief tour of the outside of the castle, the gardens and ended with an incredible view, where the wine tasting took place. We ended up buying some bottles and had them shipped. Would absolutely recommend.

We were fortunate that our 20th wedding anniversary day happened to line up with a sunset tour of the castle...it was beautiful! We had a wine tasting before hand, something we'd never experienced, and it was better than expected. Matt was the wine connoisseur for the tasting, and he made it a relaxing and we learned a lot. After the sunset tour was an included dinner. We didn't really have expectations but if we had, they would have been blown. It was gourmet and delicious!
Christine T — Google review
What a great experience for the kids and grown ups. The kids got to go on the a scavenger hunt in the forest and learn about local trees and wildlife. Then we did the self guided tour and discovered a lovely wine tasting where the kids played with their prizes and the hostesses were exceedingly patient. Finally we went into town for the free tasting with our entry and the kids enjoyed a honey tasting as well. So lovely!

Badia a Coltibuono is an elegant lodging located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region, set within an 11th-century abbey. The property offers a range of activities including wine tastings, tours of the vineyards and monastery, as well as cooking classes. Surrounded by a silent landscape and two thousand acres of forest, guests can enjoy hikes, picnics, and guided tours.
We ate here a couple of times in the six days of our visit. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the impeccable staff especially Francesca who kept us amused on both visits. I don’t think I have ever had hugs on leaving a restaurant I have only been to twice. They were so incredibly friendly but still professional. The food was great and the wine (one of their own Chianti Classico Reserva 2019) was delicious and reasonable. They do a tasting menu but we decided to go with our instincts. It’s not cheap but I think reasonable for the quality; the service and the surroundings. Both times it was quite full which meant it had a lovely stand vibe to it. Well worth finding and you may want to book in advance. Thanks again

Sitting on top of a hill in Tuscany you will find Badia a Coltibuono and it truly is a gem. It’s a quiet and peaceful escape in monastery built in 1050 and turned into a winery and hotel! The buildings have so much history and the wine is delicious. The rooms are clean, large and well appointed. The best part about Badia a Coltibuono though is the staff. They go out of their way to make you feel at home and are so lovely. We took a 2 day cooking class and Linda was a fantastic teacher! Special thanks also to Giusy for making our stay so special. We can’t wait to bring family back!

We only came for a wine tour and tasting, but had a great experience and loved our guide, Agatha. She was very knowledgeable with the history of the old monastery turned winery and was a great guide for the different wines we tried.

Truly appreciate the beauty of this medieval abbey (built in 1051) that was turned into a great wine resort. The room is spacious, clean, breakfast in a garden, food are excellent with homemade bakeries.. e.g. pistaschio stuffed croissant, their own wines.. great haven for an escape with style. Staff are friendly too.

At the recommendation of the hotel I am staying at, I came to this resort to enjoy a nice lunch and do a wine tasting. When I attempted to enter, the woman attendant immediately told me that this was a "private" resort and I could not enter. I told her that I understood that they conduct wine tastings, to which she responded that they are only done by reservation. It was very clear that she wanted me to leave, and I did so. I was looking forward to my visit and went out of my way to come to this location. After the POOR greating that I was given I will surely not return. I will continue my scouting mission, to find exceptional wines in the region, elsewhere. There are many treasures to be found, but this is obviously not one of them. Even if the wines were exceptional, I would prefer to give my business to people who are a little less abrasive. I should mention that the location is very scenic. I'm sure with the right staff my experience would have been quite different and perhaps I might have looked to stay at this resort on a future trip.

This an exceptional place to stay at. La Badia is a sort of all friend we discovered more than 10 years ago. First we visited and some years later we stayed. We took the appartement Fattore for 7 nights and we felt like at home, really. The garden is gorgeous, there is a nice pool, a library... So much to enjoy. The staff is very professional. We highly recommend.

Amazing heritage site and the tour was very interesting. The lady on reception was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The tasting was underwhelming, the young woman hosting it was uninterested and cold. It made that part feel quite awkward. But certainly worth visiting to see the incredible Abbey.
Alistair — Google review
My wife and I visited this beautiful Abbey at the beginning of September. As our flight was delated, we arrived past 1130pm but the restaurant staff was so kind to leave a full dinner in our appartment. The granaio appartment was clean and well furnished, and the breakfast the day after our arrival very good. Friendly staff served us scambled eggs, prosciutto and cheese, excellent house made focaccia and pizza, a spinach and prosciutto puff pastry pie, fresh fruit and yogurt..and a milion other items. Coffee service at the same level of a bar..cappuccino, latte and all you can ask for, juices etc. My wife broke a tooth and the reception found for us a dentist the very day. Stunning to say, dentist performed a clean up and temporary repair for free!!!! We also joined the tour and tasting, which was hosted in a tasteful room. Concierge again helped us booking a wine tasting at Volpaia our last day. A part the restaurant needs to be mentioned. Riccardo Giorgi, manager at the restaurant, offered us the most friendly and professional service I have ever received in my entire career of hospitality and food and beverage manager. Service was attentive but not invasive, we asked for items off the luch menu such as a big juicy chianina steak, he made it happen. Wine tasting was offered by the house. I shall mention that we booked the granaio room not being aware than it can host up to 2 families. When we casually mentioned this to the receptionist, we were given 50% off. I have been manager in the industry for over 35 years and I have never received such professional and attentive service. Stop to visit the pretty shop at the beginning of the road that takes you to the abbey..you will find the same quality. We will be back

Had lunch with family. Enjoyed every moment spent in the restaurant. Excellent food and wine. Service was superb. Everyone went the extra mile to make sure we had a great time. Views are exceptional. Wine testing, service food and service all great. I will definitely be back.

It's a nice, quiet place. The terrace has an amazing view. We did some wine tasting and it was lovely.

The place is situated right at the end of the town. It’s definitely a very nice place to look at the grounds and enjoy the views around the house. They have a wine sensory experience where you taste a wine and try to understand the texture around it. We ate food at the restaurant. The pasta was delicious. The ice cream was not that great. In short definitely worth a visit for the wine sensory experience. The food is good - something you would expect in the region

Saved this as a "must come again", so you may go. This is the perfect blend of local produce, local passionate staff, beautiful wines, all in a mesmerising 17th century setting. Sitting in this little courtyard, with a ~400 year old well as the centrepiece, classical music playing in the background, it couldn't be more romantic. After choosing your dishes, if you're interested in choosing a special wine, the very friendly and helpful sommelier Giuseppe will be more than obliging - I tasted a Riservas and two Gran Seleziones that he recommended, the latter were so perfect I just had to buy a dozen to be shipped home to Australia (plus a take-away, plus a special bottle of Balsamico!). Or you can go for the Classicos at only €6/glass. My waiter was Andrea, a very friendly but professional local guy; he would come and talk about the food (e.g. how the pigs are bred and the quality of their fat), check in regularly but not too often - literally the perfect waiter. The food - classic local Italian dishes, made with fine local produce, prepared perfectly. Nothing pretentious, affordable, but I would be prepared (and have in many other places) to pay more. I'll definitely be back. Re my price guide - I would say I spent more than standard, only because I pigged out on 4 courses after a big bike ride (~€55), plus my wine choices were top shelf (€8-12/glass). The food prices are not cheap but they're certainly not expensive, and as noted there are good €6/glass wine options.

What a great experience in Casa Chianti Classico! Delicious traditional Tuscan cuisine accompanied by the Chianti Classico/Riserva/Grand Riserva winetasting. Tiramisu icecream was amazing! We were served by Giuseppe and Andrea that were both superb and very friendly. Absolute recommendation!

We stopped by here for a wine tasting and lunch on our way through Tuscany. The lunch was very nice and the place is beautiful - it has a great view of the surrounding vineyards. We don't speak Italian and they were able to do the tasting in English. I'd recommend you stop on your way though, they have a great range of wines and a lovely cellar.

La Loggia Del Chianti is a restaurant that offers game dishes, cured meats, and Tuscan wines. The chef, Simone Bianco, showcases his love for nature and quality through his modern and sustainable approach to gastronomy. Guests can enjoy their meals indoors by a fireplace or on a terrace with stunning mountain views. The restaurant's extensive wine cellar features local wines. While the portion sizes may not be large, the dishes are praised for their quality and originality at reasonable prices.
Our hotel turned us onto this restaurant off of the main stretch in Radda. We went in with low expectations and it was one of the best meals we have had in Italy! The small team makes the large space feel so intimate. The host/owner did not speak too much English yet we were able to converse enough for us to joke with. The waitress was beyond knowledgeable of every ingredient and process of each plate. And the head chef served some of our dishes and described everything in great detail - you could tell he was proud of his food as he should be! The food is all from the region, made in house, and a perfect blend of classic cuisine with the slightest creative flares. My fiance and I each got a pasta (Aglio e olio was unique!), then we shared the beef filet which was the best single bight I have eaten this year. Dessert was totally worth it. And the wines spoke for themselves. Very highly recommend this place. Super low key and especially going in with low expectations this restaurant was a gem!

We didn’t expect the fine dining touch to the food we received when we selected this spot on the map. The thought in curating the experience is evident from the moment you enter the board walk to the restaurant. This family run restaurant has been taken over by their son, Simone, the chef, who chose fresh ingredients from their garden to make our food and also explained where the various foods were brought from. The passion is palpable.

Outstanding food and a very friendly, welcoming team. The truffle egg starter was incredible and delicately presented. The Florentine steak was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. Very reasonably priced local wines on offer. Thanks to the team for a great lunch!

Delicious! Simone, the chef, cooked in a 2★ Michelin restaurant and decided to have his own place. Food was delicious, special and great value for the money. The service was wonderful, and you must try the mandarin liqueur that his father, who own the restaurant is making for years by a secret recipe. We'll be back!

Absolutely fabulous; food, service, ambience. The touch of Mr Michele is the icing on the cake. Quality and style, a great dining experience. Octopus starter is a dish that will stay with me for a long time. Grazie Sig.Michele per I liquori al cedro, mandarino e melograno!

We came here on a recommendation and had a beautiful lunch. The owner and Head Chef, Simone came out to see us several times including to show us the truffle haul from the morning! The view is lovely and the service is excellent. The flavours in the food area so good and with ingredients all sourced locally, these restaurants are our favourite to discover. 🌞

Had the best experience! I have a gluten allergy and had a great time. Gluten free bread offering, risotto, and dessert! Great family atmosphere with great service and new flavors! Definitely recommend.
Amanda W — Google review
Extraordinary food in a breathtaking setting, run by a friendly and passionate team. Parmesan spuma was remarkably delicate and packed with flavors. Probably one of the greatest antipasti I have ever had. I was blown away by how tender and flavorful the veal was, despite its simple and clean presentation. The deserts were almost too pretty to eat. The only call out would be that the tiramisu was very slightly on the dry side, a bit more coffee would have helped. But all in all, a spectacular meal that I will remember very fondly. This place is an absolute must-visit, when in Radda in Chianti

This restaurant serves delectable paninis, cakes, coffee, and the cheese cake in particular is delightful. The staff members are helpful and affable while maintaining reasonable prices.
We stumbled upon this fabulous place while staying in Radda in Chianti, and now that we are back home in the USA, we dream of it every single day. The owners and staff are so incredibly kind and welcoming, so as soon as you walk in, you are greeted like family. The first night we dined here, we couldn't believe our great luck. It was so delicious we returned early the next morning for coffee, a sandwich for my husband and a pastry for me. The same thing for the next morning. The appetizers of bruschetta alone could have been a meal, but I had the mushroom lasagna ... best ever; my husband had a chicken dish. The food was so mouth-watering that it pains me to write about it now that we are so far away. Our wine was so yummy that we bought some to have shipped to us. We are planning a return trip to Tuscany, JUST TO EAT HERE AGAIN! You will love it! Don't miss out on this wonderful place, with such wonderful people.

We visited Bar Dante quite a few times during our week long stay in Radda in Chianti. The owners work long hours and we have really enjoyed their service and visiting with them! The visionaries behind this unique blend of oenology and artistry are Lorenza Sebasti and winemaker Marco Pallanti.
We did a last minute visit to the wine shop without any reservations. The wine shop is built with modern architecture which is a contrast to the rest of the property Despite us reaching 45 minutes before its closing time , staff was enthusiastically sharing about the winery and its offerings . We were offered the opportunity to taste the top wines of the winery at no charge . There was a good selection of past vintages available at the same price as the new releases . Prices are not the best for recent releases but not unreasonable for the past vintages

One of our favourite wineries from our trip to Tuscany. Such fantastic views. They were not open for tours, but they still let us try a few wines; order a bottle and roam around the property with a glass of wine in hand. Loved the place. Must visit.
Suhail S — Google review
Out of the wine tasting tours we had, this was our least favorite. The tour of the vineyard itself lasted a little over an hour, and the tasting took place over the last 30 minutes. If you are into modern art/sculptures, you might enjoy the art pieces around the vineyard. However, it's not our cup of tea, and we stopped at least 5 different art pieces that included explanations of each one. It's a beautiful, large vineyard, but I felt it was half art gallery tour and half vineyard tour. The wines themselves were ok, coming from a sommelier and casual wine drinker. 1-2 wines felt like they could have been aged more for a better taste. Our guide, however, was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was the most expensive wine tour we did that day.

Very beautiful and modern winery with a gorgeous setting and fantastic wine. We stopped by with no reservations, and even though the winery only accommodate small groups, the staff were very kind and generous and provided us with tasting of multiple wines. We ended up buying a few bottles, which is testament for value of good service. Thank you for your hospitality.

This is such a lovely winery. The drive there is so picturesque and the winery and small village of Ama was so beautiful. The tour was so informative and gave such a wonderful look at the wine making process at Castello di Ama. It culminated with a wine tasting and we even got some shipped home! The winery also has a unique art collection throughout its spaces that features a variety of mediums that beautiful compliment that space.

My husband and I did the visit and tasting titled "The Impression of the Terroir" for 155 euros each. We absolutely loved the experience! Niccolo was an amazing host! He gave us a really informative tour of the vineyard, winery and the Castello di Ama village. He also gave us an excellent guided tasting experience of the Il Chiuso (pinot noir), Castello di Ama San Lorenzo (chianti classico gran selezione) and the L'Apparita (merlot). I loved the contrast between the modern wine tasting room (reminded me of luxury wine tasting in Napa Valley, CA) which had amazing views of the mountains and valleys and the medieval Castello di Ama village. We purchased two bottles of L'Apparita to take home with us in our checked bag (Niccolo provided two awesome wine bottle bubble wraps to keep them safe during travel). This wine was fantastic (our favorite wine from all our tastings in Tuscany) and I love how the name references how Siena appears along the horizon when you stand in the vineyard where these grapes come from.

In the heart of Radda in Chianti, Italy, lies Pizza Pie, a timeless family-run pizzeria that has retained its charm and flavors over the years. The menu remains unchanged, offering classic dishes like penne with tomato sauce and Tuscan liver with roasted bread. The new tuscanabianabella style brings a unique twist to their pizzas, featuring a shockingly delightful base and an array of toppings that will transport your taste buds.
Called into this place one lunchtime. Nice mix of locals and tourists. Staff were friendly, service good, food fantastic. We had the pizza for two - it was massive, toomuch for us but the people in the restaurant boxed the rest up to go. Prices reasonable and really good choice on the menu. Would definitely recommend 👌

Really good pizza, it's "different" but so tasty. If you are looking for a thick doughy crust, this is not the place. The crust is so thin and crispy that it really lets the ingredients shine. The pizzas are huge, they say for 2 people, they are not lying. Could probably serve 3-4 with some anipastis to start, or just have leftovers. Plus, they had beers from the local brewery if you need a change from all the Chianti.

Lo Sdrucciolo Bar Gelateria offers excellent coffee and ice cream with a delightful nutty flavor in their cappuccino. The coffee is of high quality, without any unpleasant bitterness. Their ice cream selection includes pistachio, lemon, and peach flavors, considered to be the best in Italy. The bar has a modern appearance and friendly staff create a relaxed atmosphere for customers to enjoy. Additionally, there are ample seating options both indoors and outdoors.
During a post dinner walk we passed this place and took notice of many people drinking and eating along the wall/sidewalk opposite the restaurant. Staff were welcoming upon entry. It was busy but they made sure we understood the ordering process. We grabbed a couple 6 euro aperol spritz and took them across the street to hang out. The staff were running snacks out to those sitting across the street. Highly recommend for a cocktail.

Cute little place to get some gelato from. Many different flavors, very good. Maybe not the best place to sit and have the gelato at, but definitely worth going to try gelato!

Located in the historic heart of Chianti Classico, specifically in Radda, Ristorante Enoteca di Colle Bereto has built a reputation for its exceptional wines and meticulous production process. For over three decades, the Pinzauti family has worked alongside agronomist Bernardo Bianchi to create a few select labels that have brought fame to this enchanting medieval village.
Absolutely lovely Tuscan cuisine! Highly recommend it. The Fresh truffle pasta is my favorite. Wines from the vineyards next door.

Such a lovely place with great service. We had two hungry kids and we were just turned away from another restaurant because it was too early (it was 12:30pm). Colle Bereto welcomed us with a smile, and even brought out colouring pencils for the children. Food and wine were delicious! You can’t go wrong

Lovely restaurant and the pasta was excellent. However, the steak was almost impossible to chew. It was cooked perfectly, but the quality of the meat seemed poor. Maybe we were just unlucky, but it was disappointing after such a great start with the pasta. We would still come back to give them another chance, as I don’t believe this is their usual standard.

A small cozy restaurant with awesome food. The steak with truffle cream was amazing, one of the best we ever had. Also the tagliatelle pasta with ragu was amazing and the tiramisu was good. Also had a caprese salad which was tasty. Overall, definitely will come back.

Visited for a late lunch, nice small Ristorante with friendly staff and an interesting menu with lots of home made dishes. The Ravioli was very good, as was the lasagne, reasonably priced too.

Omg Wow Literally the pest pasta i have ever eaten in my life 😍😍 They so friendly and cute the service is good The food feels like i’m in their house, everything feels and tastes handmade. Would absolutely recommend this to everyone 🥰

We were wanting to try out a place in town and found this as one of the available that was open for dinner. The place was quite empty and the place felt a little cold. We sat down for dinner and order a pasta and a lasagne for ourselves. We had a Chianti Classico wine from colle bereto . It was great wine. The pasta and lasagne was great. It was tasty and I don’t think it was warmed up in a microwave. However it was not out of the world. For the desert we got the vin santé, a sweet wine served with some almond cookies. We loved these dessert. In all the food is good and if you don’t get a chance to go the vineyard try some of their wines which is very good.

Brancaia Winery & Osteria offers a breathtakingly beautiful property with fabulous facilities. Visitors can enjoy relaxed and informative tours, well-put-together tastings, and exceptional food with friendly and attentive service. The osteria provides freshly made pasta and bread daily, original dishes beautifully presented, and an extensive seasonal menu. Guests can savor their wine while taking in the endless nature and vineyards.
We had a wonderful experience at Brancaia! The views and food were amazing and the wine tasting was affordable and impressive. We did nearly 10 wine tastings in Tuscany, and this was the only winery where we tried ten wines and liked every single one. We bought 8 bottles but had to pay to ship 12 as required by law. Our sommelier Massi offered to have someone meet us the next day to get 4 bottles we had already purchased to make our shipping cost worth it. He made arrangements and stayed in communication to ensure we could make this happen. They added our 4 other bottles and shipped all 12 to the US. The wine arrived home before we did! Couldn’t recommend this winery more!

A perfect dinner with excellent wine. What a great experience. Coming from South Africa, we are spoilt for choice with wine farms and this place really made an impact. The incredible food and delicious wine paired with a fantastic view was the cherry on top for our Tuscany visit.
Warren D — Google review
First impression was: very cosy and nice place! The tasting: To be honest, we found it very unkind. "Just finish quickly, we have more to do" (which may well be the case) was the feeling we got. We were just rushed off. On top of that, there were no new glasses or they weren't washed between the wines. You don't have to do that if the different wines don't have any major differences. … And there were actually only very few surprises (our opinion). The wines aren't bad, but you can taste the size of the company and that marketing has become more important than getting the real greatness out of the grapes. All in all … the taste is personal opinion but the presentation doesn‘t match to the marketing.

Excellent lunch option for food allergies. They have tons of gluten free options. I was able to have fried artichokes made with GF breadcrumbs, GF gnocchi in a dairy free sauce, and they even made a GF portion of their courtesy appetizer. All of it was delicious! We also did a wine tasting which was excellent.

A restaurant and winery with a breathtaking view giving you a feel of serenity being there. The combination of a fantastic winery and excellent osteria made it an exciting visit for us, a wine lover and food lover! The plates were created with care, and looked to beautiful to eat. All tasted delicious and served by a very friendly and attentive team of people. We will come back for sure!

If there’s one winery to visit while in Tuscany, I highly recommend this gem! What an incredibly beautiful place with fabulous staff and a restaurant where I had the best meal I had in all my three weeks in Italy. Stunning vistas, fantastic award-winning wine and fabulous food; Brancaia is more than worth the drive. A bonus: they speak great English!

Had lunch here just last weekend. It was by far, the best meal we had during our 14 day trip to Italy. We caught porcini mushrooms in season - chef was working them various ways. We had a zucchini flower, black truffle pasta that was off the hook. Wines are always great, but the food was a pleasant surprise. Staff was solid and friendly. Rainy day - great views and great experience.

My wife and I had a fabulous time at Casa Brancaia. The property and facilities are breathtakingly beautiful. We booked a tour and tasting with the lunch upgrade, and I’m very glad we did both. The tour was relaxed and informative. The tasting was well put together, and the wines were great. All of the food was exceptional, and the service was friendly and attentive. To top it off, we felt the lunch was actually quite good value as it comes with a bottle of wine either to enjoy there or take home. Bonus points for being able to book on the evening before through their online booking system! ps. The roads leading up to the winery are rough gravel, so be prepared to take a little more time than you expect to get there. With that said, any car can make it as our rental Mini Cabrio did just fine.

Antica Trattoria La Torre is a renowned family-owned trattoria located in the central piazza of Castellina in Chianti. The restaurant offers traditional Tuscan cuisine with a local twist and has been a popular dining spot for decades. Guests can enjoy attentive service and a pleasant ambiance, with the option to reserve a spot on the square terrace for an al fresco dining experience.
We had lunch outside with a beautiful view over the square. The staff is very friendly and kind and made our experience really pleasant. We enjoyed some appetizers followed by pasta and friend artichokes. Food was very tasty.

A typical Italian trattoria, nothing exceptional and nothing extremely bad. We ordered gnocchi as a starter and they were amazing! Our main dish was grilled chicken and unfortunately it was unacceptable. A very small piece, almost no flesh and almost dried in the grill. The coffee semifreddo is a nice and fresh desert, but again nothing to die for.

Excellent family owned trattoria with very nice ambience, attentive and polite service, offering traditional Tuscan food with a local twist. Reserve in advance to make sure you secure a spot on the square terrace, otherwise you might be seated inside (which was our case but we didn’t mind as the atmosphere inside was calmer. The staff made sure we had everything we needed. We felt like the restaurant toilets were overdue for a reconstruction.

5 stars I’ve been coming to Antica Trattoria La Torre since I was a child (almost half a century) – and it’s still magic. The food is unforgettable, honest, seasonal. The view over the piazza, timeless. But it’s the family who runs this great restaurant in its commanding and elegant building – generation after generation – that makes it truly special; what an intelligent, diligent, and talented family they are. A place that holds your heart as well as your appetite.

Tumulo di Montecalvario, also known as the Mound of Mount Calvary, is an important archaeological site in the Chianti region. Dating back to the 6th century B.C., it features four sepulchral chambers where Etruscan remains were discovered, including a chariot now exhibited in a local museum. Nearby, the Necropolis of Poggino contains five tombs from the same period.

(Translated by Google) A different place where you can breathe the ancient history of Tuscany. Just outside Castellina in Chianti you can easily reach the necropolis on foot which is located on this small peak called Montecalvo. The Etruscan tombs are positioned in the four cardinal points and are accessible, they can be visited without paying any ticket. They are well kept, but it's a shame that there is no lighting inside as they are completely dark. They are obviously empty since the archaeological finds discovered are preserved in the archaeological museum of Castellina. Tenuta CorteDomina is a charming boutique luxury hotel located in Radda in Chianti, Tuscany. Situated amidst a picturesque vineyard between Radda in Chianti and the hilltop village of Volpaia, this property offers air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms. Guests can enjoy the housekeeping service and take advantage of amenities such as free private parking and bike rentals to explore the surrounding area.
My boyfriend and I loved this place. Very romantic and relaxing. Upon arrival, we did the wine tasting which overlooked the gorgeous vineyard and the cheese board was amazing. The restaurant on property was romantic and one of the best meals we had on our trip, also overlooking the vineyard. Their breakfast is delicious as well. The rooms were immaculate, with a jacuzzi tub and so cozy. The entire stay/place felt like we were at a retreat. Take advantage of the activities offered at hotel (picnic in vineyard, go into town nearby, etc.). We wish we did! We will be back. Thank you to the beautiful family and staff for making our visit even better.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Not tourist friendly whatsoever, and I felt my privacy was disregarded as a staff member tried to walk in on me while I was using the restroom, and then spoke to me in a raised voice that felt unnecessarily harsh for using it (see below). From the moment we walked in, the service was unfriendly and reluctant. The staff said there’d be a wait, yet the entire restaurant was empty except for one other table. It made us feel unwelcome from the beginning. We asked for a table outdoors on the terrace, which was met with visible annoyance. Although we only wanted wine (the prices for food were extremely high), we were still charged a €15 cover fee — the explanation was “because the table had already been set with utensils.” Meanwhile, other guests seemed to be served more warmly, which made us feel even less welcome. As for the washroom, I asked another staff member twice for directions. They repeatedly told me to turn right but didn’t clarify further. I followed the directions and ended up using the wrong bathroom. While I was inside, they attempted to open the door — it was a single-stall washroom — and afterward confronted me, saying I shouldn’t have used it in a harsh tone. I apologized several times. Later, when I explained that the directions were unclear and there were no signs, they raised their voice, saying they were too busy with other guests (though there were only two tables total, each served by one staff member). When I tried to walk away, the staff member continued addressing me in a confrontational tone as they walked toward me. I would absolutely NOT recommend this place if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation. I left feeling uncomfortable, unwelcome, and overcharged, and unfortunately the experience cast a shadow on our trip to Siena. We will never return.

A little piece of Paradise. After a disappointing hotel experience in Florence, It was a pleasure to spend 3 incredible nights at Tenuta CorteDomina. The room with its Jacuzzi tub and luxury shower, along with the breathing vineyard views and delicious breakfasts and dinners, made our stay an amazing and unforgettable experience. We loved the vineyard tour and wine tasting. Hopefully we will get to return someday, but in the meantime I will recommend Tenuta CorteDomina to anyone planning a visit to Tuscany.

We absolutely loved our stay, and wished it never ended. The rooms are clean and comfy, very spacious with aircon, bath and an amazing view. The owners are lovely and they go above and beyond to accommodate any request. Breakfast is great, they have an on site restaurant and you can have the wine they produce and snacks with a view at any time (we miss that very much). When we left the owner even gifted us a bottle, which was excellent, like everything else. Grazie per una splendida vacanza, torneremo di certo! Radda is 5 mins away with the car and there are loads of activities and wineries nearby.

We ABSOLUTELY loved our time here. The property is stunning and no detail was missed to give this place character and charm. I highly recommend getting the executive double room. It is dreamy, spacious, with beautiful views. The employees are also extremely friendly and helpful and helped us plan mini trips during our stay. The owner even helped us with a flat tire. The food and wine were delicious. Highly recommend doing the tasting menu for dinner. We have stayed at beautiful places around the world and this place is definitely one of the best we’ve been to. Could not recommend it more.

Beautiful estate and wonderful service. Breakfast was excellent and wine tasting was amazing. You could request more options for breakfast if you didn't see it at the buffet. A lot of homemade foods. The room downstairs was a bit small and noisy because of proximity to front entrance. Next time we would choose a different room. The jacuzzi experience was a bit strange so I would recommend the owners enclose it like the sauna. We will be back one day. It was so charming and dreamy.
Maria T — Google review
We had the sweetest, most special stay here for our honeymoon. The owners are fantastic and take such pride in what they do. We did dinner on the property our first night which we highly recommend. Beautiful tasting menu with the wine pairing added. My husband is an eater and even he was full at the end! The next day we did a wine tasting with one of their sommeliers who was very knowledgeable and fun to talk to. They assisted in us shipping wine back home to the states and even offered to ship bottles if we found some from other wineries. Will most definitely be recommending to anyone and everyone all while hoping we can come back for a second visit. Amazing, amazing, amazing!!

Fattoria di Montemaggio is a must-visit winery in Italy, where the staff's passion for producing top-quality wine is evident. The guided tour by Francesco offers an inspiring and detailed insight into the wine-making process. The blind tasting adds a fun element to the experience. Additionally, the winery produces its own beauty products using ingredients from their garden.
Me and my girlfriend had a wonderful experience here. Francesco was incredibly knowledgeable and very passionate during the wine tour and tasting. If you wish to learn more about wine and its history in toscana, this is a must visit. Wonderful scenery at the wine yard and the drive to it.

Last week we stayed at "Casa Torre" in Fattoria Montemaggio for about a week and to be honest we could not enjoy it more. We are still excited and thrilled about our visit. Right in the heart of Tuscany at about 1h drive distance from Florece and Siena. Our private stone house with 3 twin bedrooms + 3 bathrooms en-suite, roomy livingroom and large fully-equipped kitchen was just stunning, taken care down to the smallest detail. Owners really have an exquisite taste to It. On top of that we felt awestruck by the incredible views from our house's tower overlooking a Tuscan idyllic scenary and an unforgettable sunset. Furthermore, the staff (special thnx to Francesco, Hasiba and Said) was heartfelt welcoming, helpful and discreet, available at all times. They even brought to our attention that we had a flat tire and they happily volunteered to assist and eventually did fix it all up in the blink of an eye, with a smile at no extra cost!. Just an example showing that you will find in Montemaggio the never seen before. 🥰 It is also noteworthy not to be missed their enjoyable guided visit to their facilities, vineyard, wine production process and exclusive winetasting including their varied wide range of top-quality wines, grappa and olive oíl!!! What more could you want!?.. 🤩

We showed up without a reservation the first day and they were able to squeeze us in on a tour the day after. They were very accommodating and flexible in fitting us in with our limited time in Chianti. This tour was the best tour we had hands down. Francesco is as an incredible tour guide. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the tour so enjoyable. We learned so much about wine and proper tasting techniques. The property was beautiful and the wines were some of the best. The tasting was fun & we loved the snacks provided. He did a great job of describing what flavors paired best with which wines. We feel like we now know how to go about properly tasting wines. We loved supporting a small local business, loved the story of the woman on the bottle (go women owned). Easy, affordable and enjoyable experience overall. Can’t recommend enough! Will go back eventually!

What a wonderful experience. I have been to many wineries I'm California and just two others in Italy, but this one is not to be missed. Francesco was our guide, and his enthusiasm to all things wine and the process of is inspiring. The price of the tasting was very ideal amd the quality of the wine matches the descriptions the guide gave. Looking forward to do the blind tasting. They even produce their own beauty products with their garden ingredients.

My family of 10 did a cooking class paired with wine tasting and it was such an intimate and personal experience! Our chef and sommelier were both personable and great at explaining the steps / pairings of wine and food. We made a 3 course meal and tried about 5-10 wines in the process. My only constructive criticism is we planned for a 3.5 hour experience but this easily could have taken 5 hours. We had to skip out on the tour of the property because we had made prior reservations for another winery and we’re upset to miss out on all this winery had to offer. Be sure to plan accordingly with time! Finally - this is a female owned and managed winery (look at the bottle it displays a woman!) and I loved that they made sharing this a priority.

Cantina Castelvecchi in Chianti is a charming historical palace that houses La Perla del Palazzo, a cozy restaurant and wine bar located in Radda. The interiors are adorned with Tuscan cotto and classic furnishings, while the spacious garden offers a tranquil setting. The menu features traditional Tuscan dishes with a creative twist. Visitors highly recommend the sensorial wine tasting experience led by knowledgeable guides who provide insights into the world of wines.
The views were stunning, the hospitality was warm and genuine, and the service exceeded all expectations. Every meal was a masterpiece—authentic Tuscan flavors paired beautifully with their exceptional wines. The Chianti Classico was unforgettable, rich and perfectly balanced. The staff made us feel like family, and the atmosphere was peaceful, rustic, and luxurious all at once. If you’re looking for an unforgettable stay filled with delicious food, world-class wine, and heartfelt service, this is it. A true gem in the heart of Tuscany. Highly recommend

Great winery experience, The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and the wines were delicious. The drive to get there is also stunning. The cellar is beautiful and so fun to wander around and wonder who has worked there over the very long time it has been operating as the oldest winery in the Chianti Classico region. The only reason I have given it a 4 and not a 5 is because it was the most expensive one we've done so it looses a star for cost of tasting (€25 pp)

We had the most amazing time at this winery, which also hosts weddings and private parties. The setting is breathtaking — an old, beautifully preserved castle with stunning views over all of Chianti. We enjoyed excellent wine in the most beautiful place in Tuscany, and the atmosphere was unforgettable. The person who welcomed us was incredibly warm and made us feel right at home. Truly the best experience — highly recommended!

I tried to take some photos with the gate and suddenly there was some aggressive man who did not allow any photo sessions. Then he followed us and made sure that we did not take any more photos. Although we were already outside the winery. Bad and strange experience. p.s. Their very top-secret gates are on the photo.

We did the sensory wine tasting with Giovanni and it was one of the best experiences I have had in wine country in Napa or Tuscany. He was knowledgeable, generous, engaging and the history of the winery is second to none over 1,000 years of wine making! The tasting event was so educational, and the quality of the wine was fantastico. I would encourage every to plan on making this a stop on your visit to the Radda area.

Definitely a place to come. Would recommend to email at a minimum beforehand as they can get busy and might have openings. Luckily they had some openings for tours when we arrived. We want to come back for the private tour or wine maker tour as get to do tasting in historical room (where old cellars are). Big shout out to Max, he has been there for over 8 years as of this review, was our tour guide and set up some of the vineyards in 2014. He definitely made it an unforgettable experience, you can tell his love and passion for what he does. Got a bottle of wine to take back and would recommend him or anyone there as all were nice and gave great customer service. Also, if have time, walk around property, castle and landscaping are very nice.

Really don't know how this could have gotten any better. We 100% lucked out and booked a day that ended up being a "rain delay" in the middle of their harvest. In spite of the crew being super busy, they honored our reservation. Francesco gave an amazing tour, taught our group a bunch of new things and did not rush us through at all. You can just feel the passion that he has for the business and the winery. This winery is lucky to have him on board. And all would be great in the world if it stopped there, but their wine is fantastic. The 2018 Riserva that we tasted (and that I am drinking as I type this review) is magical. If the Canadian government wasn't so bavkwards and protectionist, I would have shipped a couple of cases home. We will be back. You need to go.

Spent a great rainy afternoon recently at Cantina Castelvecci tasting wines with our host Paolo. Tasted through the entire line up including their aged grappa. Paolo was professional, knowledgeable and engaging (even met up with him in Radda at Chianti beer fighters for a couple of beers later). Personal favorite was the 2016 Solana which we enjoyed later on our adventures on the cruise back home. Highly recommend scheduling a tour and tasting with Paolo!

Enoteca e Wine Bar Casa Porciatti is a charming wine bar and inn located in a historic 14th-century building in Radda in Chianti. It offers a wide selection of Tuscan wines and delectable dishes such as taglieri, porchetta, and platters of home-cured meats and cheeses. The ambiance exudes the warmth of an Italian home kitchen, serving simple yet delicious home-style cooking.
A definite gem, tucked away under the beautiful streets of Radda, this Enoteca delivered. The setting and town are of course jaw dropping, and the cellar ambiance is great as you dine on simple yet amazing home-style cooking. You absolutely picture an Italian grandma cooking in the back, using her family’s recipes passed down for generations. Truly excellent food and of course a massive selection of local wines. The Vernaccia di San Gimignano was a very nice offering for a white. Every dish here was good or great. The salumi plate was all excellent, with a nice mix of very thinly sliced meats that melt on your tongue. The tripe was amazing (and I usually don’t like much and the pulled pork surprisingly good with its herbal notes. The ossobuca was tender and full of robust flavor. The beef cheeks were tender and delicious. The bread soup was thick, creamy and rich. The salad had some nice extra touches like the pickled vegetables. We actually skipped a pasta, needing a bit of break, but everything was most filling, and yet we cleaned all the plates. Final vote of approval is the kids ate it all like champs. Would definitely go back.

Superb hospitality by Riccardo, amazing selection in the enoteca with always great bottles in the Oenomatic (by the glass). Prices are mostly like Cellar ones, with some variations but definitely a win if you don't have time to visit estates by yourself in the Chianti Classico area. Will definitely go back whenever I can!

We had a lunch today, first of all staff is very gentil and professional, service was fast enough. I had pici (kind of thick home made spaghetti) with tartufo , my husband had ravioli with menta with some nice filling. You can tell all the products which they are using was high-end, vine was tasty. Definitely will visit again.

Came in close to their closing time and the team generously accommodated us with a wine tasting. They were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the wine they shared. Amazing experience. Thank you!

Great spot for a decadent lunch. The pastas are delicious but you will need a nap after. Incredible selection of wine and spirits to purchase as well.

Absolutely not to be missed restaurant in Radda in Chianti. They have an excellent wine selection with the three different levels of Chianti: Gran Seleccione (the best), Riserva and Chianti Classico. You can buy 6 and ship if for 75 euro; to ship 12 it would cost 120euro. Prices were very reasonable for the wines. Food is of high value as well and fresh.
Maria V — Google review
The place is amazing! They offer a wine tasting with a dedicated Menu for your taste! The dessert was really good.

We stopped here flr a bite to eat after touring many Chianti wineries. We saw some of the wine from wineries we stopped at. Thoughg that it was highly overpriced to buy a bottle. The picture is the purple rosé, and it was very delicious. The food was also good.

If you're looking for a delightful culinary experience, look no further than "Wine Bar La Sosta del Gallo Viandante da i' Babbo." This charming spot feels like stepping into a warm embrace, reminiscent of home-cooked meals that bring comfort without the cheek-pinching! The spaghetti with cheek is a standout dish, showcasing some of the best pasta you'll find in Italy. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it an ideal place to unwind after exploring the beautiful surroundings.
Absolutely wonderful place with amazing local food, wine and coffee. Dishes had abundant flavor, coffee was great and tiramisu is a must try! My husband and I felt very welcomed and right at home in this cozy atmosphere. Owner is very friendly and kind. It was a great first dinner for our honeymoon trip. If you’re ever in Castellina, you should definitely give this place a visit!

Great experience! It was like going to your mother’s house for a home cooked meal without getting your cheeks pinched! lol speaking of cheeks, I ordered the spaghetti with cheek and it was incredible! Some of the best pasta I’ve had since I’ve been in Italy and I’ve been here for 11 days from Sicily to Positano to Rome to here! I think customer service is a big part of experience and they did everything with a smile so I was very impressed. :) Amazing experience and I hope to come back soon.

Meeting Vicenzo was trully one of the best parts of our trip. We made a wine tasting with his great guidance, and had some much fun! Vicenzo brought us some delicious meats, cheeses and a home made bread soup to pair with the wines. The experience was perfect but his company was even better! Thank you so much :)

A truly authentic tuscan bar with traditional hospitality and excepcional food. Not located in the tourist centre of Castellina in Chianti and all the better for It. Highly recommended!

After a 9 miles walk from San Donato in Poggio la Sosta del Gallo was an oasis. The owner received us warmly and when finding out there was no taxi to ride back to San Donato, Vicenccio closed the bar and gave my wife and me ride to San Donato. We will always be grateful Vicenccio! Jose & Oliva

Nestled in the heart of Radda in Chianti, Italy, La Bottega di Giovannino offers a warm and cheerful welcome to guests. The family-run establishment provides unique and cozy apartments and guest rooms, each with private bathrooms and boasting splendid panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. This charming spot is an ideal place to stay before or after visiting Fattoria di Montemaggio.
My wife and I brought our 4 month old baby to Tuscany for 3 weeks, and we stayed just down the street in Radda. We visited Monica and David here for dinner 5 times during our stay because we loved it so much! The food is authentic and family run for multiple generations. They were extremely accommodating to us and our baby whenever we showed up. Make sure to make a reservation! We will have fond memories of our time at Bottega for years to come, could not recommend more highly!
Brian M — Google review
Giovannino was recommended by Hotel Villa Campomaggio so we went. David personally welcomes each customer and is totally hands on. All the food was good, but recommend the wild boar soup and the chianti pepper beef. Service was excellent as well. Reservations recommended because wild boar soup is not always available.

Had a lovely meal. Very helpful, friendly proprietors. Food was excellent, dessert to die for. In a beautiful little village, if ever passing again, we would definitely return

Our stay a few doors down from the restaurant was delightful, a sweet little room in the attic. We had two wonderful, memorable meals at the restaurant made with fresh local ingredients. Monica and David and the staff were warm and friendly and we loved the atmosphere, a lively mixture of family, locals and tourists like us. I would highly recommend the accommodation and this wonderful small restaurant. Probably the best meals we had during our two weeks in Italy!
Maureen M — Google review
The restaurant is run my brother and sister - David and Monica. The restaurant has only about 12 tables - so in high season a reservation is a must. The food is absolutely delicious and authentic, and the wine list is exceptional and reasonably priced. Do not go here to eat and rush off. Enjoy your dinner and the quaint street side seating. Get a bottle of Brunello and enjoy!
Tim S — Google review
Fabulous food and very friendly service from a brother and sister team. Prices are reasonable. We ate on the outdoor terrace on the traffic-restricted main street of Radda. The entire area is lovely with awesome views. Update: We were delighted to find this restaurant open on Dec 1 and we enjoyed a terrific meal including pasta, boar stew and baked vegetables. So glad we made it before they close for the season!

Amazing food and owners with beautiful souls! We enjoyed every each ingredient in our food. Everything was fresh and tasty. Thank you David for your warm service, will definitely love to come back here. We also bought the fig and mustard jam, you’ll love it!

What a lovely find this was. It is a true family restaurant with lovely food, nice wine and very friendly people. It is a little out the way but make the effort to find it out and you will not be disappointed. My favourite quote was the one posted above the bar “Life is too short to drink bad wine”.

Nestled in the heart of Chianti Classico, Ristorante La Bottega Di Volpaia is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. A recent visit with family revealed not only exceptional food but also outstanding service that made us feel right at home. Our group of ten was treated to delightful dishes like tagliatelle with truffles and tender beef paired with creamy puree, all while enjoying the warm hospitality from owner Carla and her mother, Gina.
My family and I visited La Bottega and had the most wonderful experience. We were a group of 10 and not only was the food amazing but the service was incredible. We ended up enjoying ourselves so much that we stayed up until they got ready to close for siesta/ dinner prep. The owner came over and chatted with us and let us know that although the kitchen would be closing, he would welcome us to stay until our wine tour we had scheduled for later that afternoon. One of the most memorable restaurants I've had the pleasure of visiting. Large parties should call ahead for reservations. Volpia was enchanting to say the least. If you're ever in Radda di Chianti it is a must visit!
Samantha M — Google review
DO NOT VISIT THIS RESTAURANT. They were very rude to us from the time we arrived and especially Carla, the owner, which is unacceptable. The food was really bad, the buratta salad was just a joke, and the main dishes tasteless. The truffle pasta was NOT good. This was not real Italian food. We know that it is NOT truffle season in August , but for some unknown reason Carla came to us saying that she picked truffle yesterday -we didn’t even asked- The village has really nice restaurants to visit , do not waste time and money to visit Ristorante La Bottega.
Evi T — Google review
This is a place I would return to every time I am in the area. The service was impeccable and the food delicious. I served tagliatelle with truffles and my husband beef with puree. The dessert was excellent, too. In the front of the restaurant is a garden with beautiful colored flowers, but we stayed inside because it was quite cold outside. The gentlemen who served us were very nice. I highly recommend this place.
Valentina P — Google review
18 years of excellence, I love to go here for lunch and dinner in the middle of Chianti Classico. The owner Carla Barucci is always present and very attentive. I love to eat truffle and all dishes over the years have been exceptionally and the quality is always the same. I can’t wait to return!
Eric V — Google review
This restaurant is a must visit; the flan is amazing as were the ravioli with ricotta and sage, tagliatelle with truffle and pesto spaghetti. You’ll be dining under fig trees, so be prepared for the occasional fruit to drop! Also, it is wise to make a reservation as it can get busy but we have certainly turned up without one and been accommodated. 5 Stars!
Brandie M — Google review
The best service and food we had in all of Italy. The warmth of the owner, Carla and momma Gina, is tasted in the food and they make you feel part of the family. We had the cheese plate, ravioli with pomodoro sauce, and Florentine steak with chocolate cake to end. Incredible! Came across it by luck. One of the luckiest days of our year. I wish I could give it more stars.
Dave S — Google review
So close yet so far away. If you're not local, don't go here on a busy night (Saturday). The setting is 5 star, the food was pretty good, some dishes were cold, the service was just odd; we waited 15 minutes after we finished eating before someone collected our plates, nobody asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. 30 minutes later we left and the lady at the register asked why no coffee and dessert, we told her because nobody asked and she said that's because it was busy. They seemed to cater to people they knew or thought would be the best customers. It was my wife's birthday and I literally didn't care what I paid for the meal but it was only €89; 2 years ago for her birthday I paid €1200 in a similar, yet much more refined place in Venice. Michelin star in previous years, not since 2018 as best as I could see.
Anthony K — Google review
Absolutely my last pick in Volpaia. Food is bland and overpriced. The service was awkward and confusing and the staff was chatting loudly outside by the eating guests. A lot had for sure changed since they got their Michelin recommendation.
