Saas-Fee in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Saas-Fee, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Saas-Fee is a high-altitude, car-free village ringed by 4,000-meter peaks and glaciers, offering striking alpine scenery in every direction. It’s known for reliable snow and extensive ski slopes, plus year-round glacier skiing and well-marked hiking trails in summer. The village itself has traditional chalet architecture, a compact, walkable center, and mountain lifts that give easy access to panoramic viewpoints. Nearby attractions include the Mittelallalin revolving restaurant and ice pavilion, which showcase the surrounding peaks and glacier interior up close.
With favorites like Bergrestaurant Felskinn, Restaurant STEINBOCK Saas-Fee (ehem. Arvu Stuba), and Bergbahnen Hohsaas, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Drehrestaurant Allalin and 12-inch CofFee so you can get the best taste of Saas-Fee while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Nestled just off the piste from Spielboden to the village, Gletschergrotte is a charming little hut with a small terrace offering a cozy atmosphere. The menu features delectable burgers, delightful rostis, and an array of fondues. Known for its homemade cakes and desserts, this spot prides itself on quality. The "Grottli" kitchen prepares classic dishes like cheese on toast, various fondues, and the famous cholera cake.
We enjoyed a delicious lunch in this pretty chalet while skiing in Saas Fee. The soup was flavourful, the goat cheese salad very tasty and so was the cholera dish. The creme schnitte was fabulous! All of them were beautifully presented. Welcoming staff. Would definitely come back!

Sit on the terrace and enjoy the amazing view! It's a little hike to get there (either up from Saas Fee or down from Spielboden) but definitely worth it. Great place for lunch; the breakfast offering is a bit limited. Service is always friendly, prices are reasonable.
Gerd G — Google review
Delicious meal, starting with a salad and then pasta du jour (a very refined pesto). The waiters were very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. They even brought us some blankets because we were sitting on the terrace?

Great place for a lunch during a ski day. Staff is friendly and food (traditional swiss) is tasty. As it's quite small inside you should avoid to go there during rush hour (12-1). They dont take reservations.

Nestled in the stunning Swiss Alps, Saas-Fee is a sought-after destination for its breathtaking scenery and thrilling ski slopes. The Saas-Fee Ski School offers an unforgettable experience with top-notch attractions and activities, including the renowned Allalin Ice Pavilion. Visitors rave about their experiences with instructors like Lucas, who provided exceptional guidance and instilled complete trust during lessons.
Everyone at the Saas-Fee ski school is extremely nice and supportive. They really try their best to make sure everyone has a nice time. They were also very accommodating in refunding lessons that didn’t work out with our little one. We’re definitely returning to them next time.

Everything was great, my son had lessons with Christa she was wonderfull. Really organized. Kids were enjoying the whole week, and learn a lot of stuff. Thank you for everything. Regards from my son Milan. He says CHRISTA IS THE BEST!
Anja V — Google review
This ski school is really great. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed the instructors, who not only taught them skiing skills but also ensured they had a wonderful time. Definitely recommended for a positive learning experience.
Jenny X — Google review
I had the absolute pleasure of learning to ski with Juan, and I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. As a complete beginner, I was nervous, but from the very first lesson, he made me feel at ease. His ability to read us like an open book—knowing exactly when we were stressed, scared, or unsure—was incredible. Juan adapted his teaching style perfectly to our needs, offering the right balance of encouragement, patience, and technical guidance. He never rushed us but also knew when to push just enough to help us improve. His calm and reassuring presence made such a difference, and by the end of our lessons, I felt much more confident on the slopes than I ever expected and most of all, he helped me conquer my fear! If you’re a beginner (or even beyond) looking for an instructor who truly cares about your experience and progress, I can’t recommend Juan highly enough. Thank you for making our ski trip so memorable!
Oana M — Google review
Used several times of the years. A really nice school and the official Swiss one. Very friendly and helpful. Eunice taught our 8yr old son and was amazing. Had one instructor that wasn’t so great for a private adult lesson / seemed disinterested and didn’t learn anything. I just put that down to bad luck but there are also other good schools to try.

Saas fee ski school was absolutely incredible . From booking and answering our questions to the INCREDIBLE instructor Dario who helped make my daughter’s entire holiday. He clearly takes a lot of pride in his job and it shows. It was a true joy to watch our daughter not only learn to ski but to fall in love with it. We cannot wait to come back.
Pippa D — Google review
Had several private lessons with Aran who was great. Twice we had trainees join us which was great as it meant a little bit more supervision. Correspondence by email before we booked was great too.
Alistair H — Google review
On February 17th, my 5y old son started his 1 week of ski class in the Blue Star French Group. Very surprisingly, 2h later, Juan, a pister from the ski resort called us that they had found my son, lost by his teacher. The worst,’is that the teacher wasn’t aware he had lost my son from his class and that he was missing for already 2h. Sadly, no one from the Ski school called us to give us any explanation of this incident, nor said they were very sorry about it or informed us they were still investigating. I had to call the School Director, Gabriel, to hear from them… 4 days later, there’s no explanation for this very important issue and I’m not sure there will ever be. A school like this, when contracted, has the duty of care, and here they really messed up. I’m extremely concerned and disappointed, and want to inform others about this for their evaluation when thinking about bringing their kids to this school.

Really beautiful location that feels more authentically Swiss! We hiked the Jegihorn via ferrata and loved the scenery! The cable car staff are extremely kind and generous. It is clear they love the area! Definitely recommend all the recreation this amazing spot has to offer!
Avery S — Google review
The ride up from Kreuzboden Gondelstation (reached by Gondelbahn Saas-Grund - Kreuzboden in Saas-Grund Dorf) to Hohsaas is quite impressive, with the landscape morphing from lush green pastures into barren, lifeless ridges. Still, once you step outside the cable-car, the scene is breathtakingly beautiful, with snow covered walls on one side and rocky terrain on the other side. No need to take your water flask with you, as melted snow see to it that there is a constant flow of fresh, sweet and cool drinking water. For the more adventurous type, there are a variety of routes that will reveal even more picturesque panoramas. For these you will need to come prepared with climbing gear, warm clothing and hot water flask...
Menasche S — Google review
Wonderful staff operating the cable car is super helpful and super friendly. We rode the cable car to hike the Jegihorn via Ferrata and the staff was super kind and squeezed us into the cable car after our hike, right at closing time!

We had an amazing day with fresh snow on the Allalin mountain. There were virtually no tourists, only skiers and the atmosphere was really peaceful.

Great 👍 sight and seen. Breath taking view. 14 of 4000meter mountains are surrounding the SAAS Fee village. Be reminded that any gas and diesel vehicles are not allowed in the village and surrounding areas. For the children there are many activities, winter and summer (inform your self). For family's it could be quite expensive. Especially the fares for the 🚠 cable and Skilift are elevated... A little walk on and glacier could be a fun 😊. You are able to see the various ski Nations training on the all year Skipiste at the foot of the Allalin massive on the glacier. All in all a very enjoyable vacation destination but for a price ...

Drehrestaurant Allalin

Experience a delightful dinner at Restaurant Allalin, Switzerland's highest dining establishment and the world's loftiest rotating eatery. Perched at an astonishing altitude of 3,500 meters (11,482 feet), this remarkable restaurant offers breathtaking panoramas of the snowy surroundings as it gracefully revolves every hour. Though the cuisine may not be extraordinary or unparalleled in the Alps, its presentation is always enticing, complemented by a charming atmosphere.
Perched at an astonishing 3,500 meters above sea level, Drehrestaurant Allalin offers an unparalleled restaurant experience. As the world’s highest revolving restaurant, it provides a 360-degree panoramic view of the surrounding Alpine peaks, making every moment truly mesmerizing. We only came for coffee and croissants. But I mean look at the view! Just crayz

Truly enjoyable experience! So beautiful of course. As expensive as any other place around. I got the gnocchi with goulash. The gnocchi itself was not incredible - very dense and potato-y rather than light and fluffy. But the meat/ goulash was really good. I had some fries and they were okay. One friend liked the burger but the other didn’t. We also grand grandmas emergency box of course which I give a 10/10 for fun. Ours came with maybe 6-8 cubes of various pound cakes and some nice white and dark chocolate. Definitely would go back.
Meredith F — Google review
An unforgettable experience! Lunch at 3,500 m while the restaurant slowly revolves, offering breathtaking 360° views of the Alps, is simply magical. A must-visit in Saas-Fee!
IMLaw L — Google review
Amazing. I ordered the special burger. For the first time ever I have had a burger with a red bun and here it just tasted amazing. Cheese tomatoes salad and the beef patty made the burger excellent. On the side you get some fries as well which are also really good. As a drink I got the red rivella as usual when I am in Switzerland cause it is just the best. Service is nice and food came quickly. It was easy to order a dessert as the people came often to our table and asked for anything else. But the best part about this restaurant is of course the crazy view over the alps such as the restaurant turning fully in 1 hour around.
Weiserngel1 — Google review
Average food, poor service but wonderful views. We went several times throughout the week and it was very crowded (end of December) but we loved the views from the top of Saas-Fee. You get there by taking the alpine metro and several ppl go who aren’t skiing/snowboarding. Overall, recommended!
Paula — Google review
Great spot to chill even for just a coffee or a beer, the view is amazing and friendly staff. Highly recommended if your in saas fee!
Naftali B — Google review
We did not eat much food here, just appetizers, but it is one of the most memorable restaurants out there. The turntable moves slowly to the point where you may not even notice the rotation, but allows for a 360 view of the glacier and surrounding areas. It’s definitely worth the extra charge to make it up here! The soup and bread were delicious!

In addition to tasty waffles, they also sell vinyl albums from the 90s.

I had my morning coffee here—though it was a bit light for my taste, as I prefer a strong, dark roast, it was still excellent. Every corner of the café is beautifully designed and impressive. You can also browse and purchase LP albums, adding to the unique atmosphere. I didn’t get a chance to try the pastries, but they looked delicious. This will definitely be my go-to coffee spot in Saas-Fee from now on. ☕️

Swiss restaurant
Arvu-Stuba, a Swiss restaurant in Saas-Fee, offers a delightful ambiance and excellent customer service. It is advisable to book ahead due to limited availability caused by certain restaurants being closed on specific days in this small town. The restaurant's convenient location allows guests to enjoy a fondue meal after indulging in the Wellness 4000 spa experience at 8pm. Although not able to sample the dessert fondue due to fullness, it remains an enticing option for future visits.
Best In Saas-Fee There are a lot of places to eat in Saas-Fee, but if you’re only there for a week or weekend make sure you go to Arvu Stuba. We’ve been coming for a few years and always come back. Why? The food, the wine list and the service are all second to none. Let’s start with the food... the Chef is fantastic and is brave enough to move away from the stables of Rosti and Fondue (although their Prosecco and Truffle fondue is the best in town). Dishes such as the Lobster Bisque soup can seem out of place in most Swiss restaurants but here it works. Along with specials like Polenta and Porcini mushrooms everything is delightfully flavoured and absolutely beautifully presented. As for the wine, there are the usual local favourites of Johannesburg and Heida, but go for one of the Walliser special selections. The owner of the restaurants works with local vineyards and she selects some of the best vintages. Try Hommage for a wonderfully robust and rounded red wine. The service is also impeccable. The husband and wife team run a tight ship that’s friendly, professional and efficient. Whilst he might be in the kitchen most of the time he comes out to greet and thank guests whilst his wife makes sure everything runs perfectly. Nuno, who’s the quad lingual waiter greets everyone with warmth and humour and makes everyone feel at home. The final thing is the overall ambience and feel of the place. It looks quite traditional but the food or service are not old or stuffy. The small size of the place means it’s always booked up and has a buzzy atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit !
Adrian G — Google review
Arvu-Stuba offered a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for an early evening meal. The service was exceptional, with the staff attentive and friendly. The pumpkin soup was a standout, rich and flavorful. However, the pulled pork burger, while decent, fell short of expectations. The portion size was smaller than anticipated, and the bread lacked softness, the coleslaw too unbalanced on vinegar, however, the french fries were delicious, even though they came with a charge while I thought they were a side for my burger. My wife’s entrecote was unfortunately tough and chewy, a disappointing dish given its price point. The complimentary bread with herbs and spices was a thoughtful touch. While the restaurant's ambience and service were commendable, the quality of the main courses was inconsistent.

Probably the second-best fondue in Saas Fee after le Vieux Chalet. I particularly like the fondue aux herbes, but the mushroom fondue is also tasty. I'll be back, for sure, in search of that fifth star.

Lovely atmosphere and great service. Always wanted to try a fondue. Had to make reservations because it's a small town and some restaurants are closed certain days. 8pm was just right for us after hitting the spa at the Wellness 4000. Guests can indulge in pulled pork burgers, flavorful pasta dishes, and chicken wings marinated in a secret recipe, all served alongside crispy French fries. While prices may reflect the premium location typical of mountain resorts, visitors have praised the friendly multilingual staff and the quality of food.
Stopped here in early October after walking and feeding the marmots. They had a fall inspired menu with Herbstsalat, Ravioli with pumpkin filling and a pumpkin soup. Dessert was a plum strudel with cinnamon ice cream. We were lucky to get a seat outside in the sun and enjoyed our meal. Great service, can pay by card and even buy more marmot food in case you ran out already.

A nice spot on the slopes with a sun drenched terrace. Food is not spectacular but still a good lunch spot for skiers. Service is very much beyond par though as waiting times for the food could exceed one hour during peak times. Luckily there’s a good view whilst waiting!

Highly recommend the Italian focaccia sandwich. High quality food with an incredible view. The coolest part? You get to ride a cable car to your meal. Would recommend to take a ride up the tramway while you’re up there.

Really good food but disastrous service. Quite disappointing considering how great Hotel Capra is…
Cedric S — Google review
The service is friendly and it's nice to see them take care of the local marmotte population. The food however, if ridiculously expensive for the mediocre quality you get. Not to mention the very limited choice. Conclusion: good to have drinks and see some cute furry animals but if you're hungry, you better walk a bit further down.

Great food and great service. Recommend!

Good restaurant to have lunch while skiing. I ordered the lasagne which I actually normally do not do when in other restaurants. It was really good and the portion was perfect. As a Dessert I took the house cake which was the apricot cake and it was delicious. Price is also not that high as expected in Switzerland. Service is nice and atmosphere nice as not many people were there but still some.

Amazing view restaurant. Expansive? Yes, absolutely, but every Swiss restaurant is really expansive. We drink only a (very good) coffee. New cable car, very quickly. Beautifal view on Mischabel Mountains, Saas Fee and Fletschhorn, Lagginhorn and Weissmies.

Day 2

Off the beaten path
For day 2, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Adventure Park: Addicted 'Park Gaillands. Not quite as popular as Saas-Grund, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 9 hours.

Western City Martigny is a unique park where adults can enjoy drinks and delicious crepes without paying an entry fee. The welcoming atmosphere, with friendly staff and a hands-on approach to entertainment, sets it apart. Children have plenty of activities to choose from, including scooter rides, country dance shows, mini-golf, tree courses, and a beautiful artificial lake. The Western Chili crepe is highly recommended for its perfect blend of spicy flavors.
We had just the greatest day out so many things for the children to play on so many games or to play mini golf. It's got an awesome rustic charm which makes it even better somehow! The fact you can play everything without any extra charge is is a real treat. Honestly, one of my favourite days how we've had in Switzerland so far. Everyone working here was super friendly and welcomed us back in after taking a break in the middle of the day. We could even bring our dog on a lead! Possibly best enjoyed on a nice day but it still seems to be lots to do inside even on a bad weather day. We were 100% be back again another day.

Great park for children and their parents. Amazing western ambiance, lots of original old games

The old lady who works in the creperie is awfull, she told me 2 times she dont support my dog and made bad faces and noises all the time we rested there, after all they closed all the place with us inside and ask us for leave at the half coffe cause they close. Never again.

Jillian O — Google review
Absolutely fantastic place. We went here with our two young children (>6 yrs) and they loved it. SO DID I. There is a lot to tell you about so I'll break it down by heading. Getting There: This might sound simple but its 'odd'. To get to the park you have to cross a bridge from the road side stop called 'Relais Saint-Bernard'. When you get there, the parking is on the right-hand side, park as close to the Marché as possible, as the bridge to the Western City is behind the building. Parking is free but there is not a whole lot of parking spaces. We were here over the Easter weekend and there was no problem finding a place to park. Costs: Adult - 15 chf Child - 15 chf (from +3yrs) AVS-AI - 13 chf Group - 13 chf (from 10 or more persons) Seating and food: There is lots of seating inside and out. Beside almost every attraction is a place to rest. Ideal for those of us who prefer the watching rather than the, lassoing, horse shoe throwing or gold digging. I saw no objections to bringing picnics and in fact I did see a family happily tucking into theirs in the middle of the city. What Will You See: Loads and loads of things. Honestly, everywhere you look there is something else to do. Let’s get the 'mini-golf' out of the way first as it’s the only one which requires a 'deposit'. Its 2 chf for a golf ball and you get it back upon the return of the ball. Now put away your WALLET! Everything else I've seen is free. The main entrance area 'Saloon' has a few games, a prison, lots of seating and access to a fantastic play area and access to the main city. The play area is full of climbing and zip lines (where you sit on a saddle and slide from one tree to another - about 0.5m from the ground and about 3m long). Makes it ideal for younger children. This area is very child friendly. After entering the Saloon this area is past the prison on your left. In the Saloon, to the right of the entrance to the city you will find Cowboy hats and an array of light bibs depicting sheriffs, robbers and prisoners. The boy loved dressing up and I strongly suggest you do. It adds to the atmosphere when you are walking through the park seeing loads of cowboys everywhere. The main City: Lots of open space, plenty of shade and a ton of things to do for all ages of kids to do. Yes, I am a child and I did spend a lot of time on the lassoing and gold digging! The mini golf is to the left, the goats are in the middle, the climbing adventure park is in the middle and the gold mining, Western City Shootout is towards the end of the park. I'm adding photos to highlight some of the places I've mentioned. Approximate visiting time: 3-4 hours if you have brought food. If you haven't don't worry! You get a stamp at the entrance and you can always go back over the bridge to get something from the Marché, there is also a restaurant there. Finally: ADD this place to your 'must see list'!

Nestled at the foot of the majestic Dom, the highest mountain entirely within Switzerland, Saas-Fee/Saastal is a high-alpine paradise that offers an array of outdoor adventures year-round. In winter, skiers can enjoy a remarkable vertical drop exceeding one mile from the summit lifts to village slopes. The area features primarily intermediate pistes and boasts reliable snow conditions at altitudes between 2,500m and 3,500m.
Amazingly friendly and helpful. We rented a Raclette back pack and it was a great experience. Highly recommend!

We came to Saas Fee for the first time in 1960. We used to come here every winter to ski and have fun. Saas Fee will always have a special place in my heart. Lots of childhood memories and lots of good times. Now, many years later, we celebrated my Mom's 85th birthday here. So much fun :) and incredibly beautiful, also in the summer.

P R — Google review
Not many ski resorts get it “right” in their summer activities, but Saas-Fee in my view does. It offers more than just hiking for those that need a bit more variety, without ever turning into a mountain DisneyLand. To top it all off, the tourist card includes transportation by bus AND (most) lifts, which is clearly one of the biggest headaches in many other places. Thank you - we’ll be back for sure!

The Park-Hotel is situated in a quiet location near the cable car Fiesch Eggishorn and the train station, and offers wonderful views of the mountains. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The food is excellent, with both traditional Swiss dishes and international cuisine on offer.
I have been coming to Park Hotel for as long as I can remember. From when I was a little kid to now 28 years old. For more than 20 years, this has been our home away from home in Switzerland, and no matter where I go, it's always a place I love going back to. Some of my best memories were made here. Patrick and Jutta are amazing hosts that make everyone feel at home and are happy to help out with any questions you might have. The food is excellent, so I highly advise taking dinner in the hotel. Breakfast has everything you need to get you going for a day hiking in the amazing mountains surrounding the hotel. I highly recommend coming here to explore the Saas-valley and enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife!

Not a great experience. Location - far too far away from the ski lifts. Infrequent buses. Room - very very basic, no twin rooms, no tea / coffee making facilities; no toiletries (aside from soap). Food - dinner was good , but only provided for one night of our 4 night stay. Also charged us 6€ for tap water Facilities - boot room is accessed under the building meaning ski boots feel cold and damp each morning.

A beautiful and welcoming hotel, with spacious rooms and balconies offering a stunning view of the Allalin glaciers. The hotel location is magnificent: the town center is just steps away, and the bus terminal is also very close. It's truly central. The hotel is bright and sunny, thanks to its large front garden. The hotel staff is very friendly and welcoming: Patrick and his wife, Jutta, explained the local activities to do. Patrick picked us up and took us back to the parking lot with our bags. The entire staff, kind and professional, made our stay a wonderful experience. Perfectly clean. The generous breakfast buffet, with excellent products, including local ones, is delicious. The bread deserves a special mention: various types, freshly baked and delicious. Patrick is also the chef of the in-house restaurant and is truly skilled in the kitchen. Every evening there was a different menu and it was always excellent. Very good food. Highly recommended.

A really nice family-run hotel. We had a lovely welcome from Jutta and Patrick, and the staff team were excellent. Our room was comfy. Breakfast was always good, and the evening dinners were a real treat-lovely presentation and great flavours. Our only dilemma was choosing the wine!

It was my first time in Saas Fee, but definitely not the last one. I had an absolutely amazing hiking week there. The hotel’s location is brilliant, the room had everything I needed, and both breakfast and dinner were delicious. I also truly enjoyed the warm, family-like atmosphere of the hotel. Thank you for everything – I hope to return again in a few years. At least, that’s my plan for now! :)
Ilonda L — Google review
The rooms were cozy, not super big but big enough - even for us with our three huge dogs. The bathroom was nice and clean. Excellent water pressure too, something that other hotels fail to get right so often. The breakfast was very nice and had everything you would expect. The food in the evenings was always very tasty, I really loved it and requested an additional plate several times, awesome chef! Also: this might be the Belgian in me talking, but the beer was served perfectly! Nice pour with a big head and the yeast left in the bottle, served seperately for you to add later. Allround great experience.
Stijn B — Google review
We had a wonderful stay at the Park Hotel. We were offered an amazing half-board deal for 1 week. The adults in our group could stay in separate rooms at no additional cost, while the two young children stayed in a family room with their parents free of charge! Simply unbeatable. The room I was in on the top floor had an outstanding view of the village and ski slopes. The rooms were very clean. The continental buffet breakfast and the 4-course evening meals were excellent. The hotel is located in a central yet quiet spot, very close to the bus station. It isn't too far to walk to the Alpinexpress cable car. A depot is offered close to the Alpinexpress to leave your skis and boots each day. We really enjoyed staying in an uncomplicated, family-run, typical Swiss hotel. We would definitely return.
Michel — Google review
A beautiful hotel, run by very friendly people. The rooms are very up to date, great bathrooms with loads of hot water, much needed after long walks. Don't worry about the one choice menu....you won't be let down , the food every night was of the highest quality and the service second to none. Got a very strong feeling we will be back next year :-)

European restaurant
Hotel La Gorge & Restaurant Zer Schlucht is a laid-back accommodation with low-key rooms, some featuring kitchenettes, and a serene restaurant. The restaurant offers a great sun terrace and serves delicious Rosti. The hotel boasts nicely decorated rooms with attention to detail and stunning views of the gorge and surrounding mountains. However, there is no elevator in the hotel. Guests can enjoy a pleasant stay with friendly and helpful staff.
Our experience at "La Gorge" that was recently completely renovated was absolutely wonderful. The staff was super friendly, very helpful and always welcoming you with their biggest and earnest smile. The bedrooms are super cosy, very clean and calm. The morning breakfast was fantastic and served in the restaurant overlooking the gorge. We spent two days hiking in the region and we loved ending our day with a tasty drink at the bar. Given the hotel's location on the edge of the gorge, our icing on the cake was to peacefully fall asleep to the sound of the Vispa river flowing below... awaiting next morning's breakfast. We'll definitely visit that hotel again in the future.

At a similar price as other hotels in Saas-Fee like the Capra, this hotel felt a bit underwhelming. Room is nice, but the breakfast is very basic and the hotel doesn’t have too much to offer. Additionally, the service was average. The lady at the front desk refused to take us to the station with our heavy luggage, making up excuses like “I can’t drive”, but eventually took us when we showed our disappointment. She drove perfectly well…clearly just laziness and lack of high quality service
Victor — Google review
We visited the restaurant in the off season, which I highly recommend. Beautiful location over a small gorge/canyon. The service was excellent and very friendly. I would recommend reservations in advance in the main season. The food was very delicious and the price/quality ratio is really good.

Hello, we arrived at the train station and Mike came to get us for free. The breakfast was good and the room was clean and nice. The negative part was that after check-out the woman refused to give us a lift that is included in their service and was not as polite as Mike.
Maria B — Google review
Beware before booking! Price gauging at checkout. No offer to grab us from the bus station, room was nice but candidly a bit dirty in the suite in the tower with lots of bugs. (I get it, it’s over the water, but was still nasty). Hotel manager was upset about the price offering that was available to us online. Forced us to pay for breakfast that was supposed to have been included (you can see that outlined on their website as well) and also mentioned that we had messed up the age booking of occupants (we didn’t) and had to pay more than the booking fee when we showed up. Upon check out - not allowed to store our bags in the ski room cause they wouldn’t be around at 1pm on a Saturday. They did offer to allow us to store under the stairs and SaaS fee is generally a very safe place, but it’s more indication of laziness and lack of customer service. Prices are just below the 5 star prices and candidly better Airbnb or other hotel options in hindsight. Lots of great hotels in SaaS Fee, don’t get suckered into the allure of the castle. Really cool architecture and arguably cool location with the gorge, but the attitude, stress and price gauging was not worth it. In the end-we realized perhaps a part of is also us being native English speakers (UK/US bookings be aware)-definitely some favoritism towards local country languages speakers. I should have read the previous owners/management response to other lower stars review more closely before booking.
Zach D — Google review
The hotel is really astonishing and all the rooms were very nicely decorated. You can see that the owner has put attention on every detail. The view from our room (22) was incredible, overlooking the gorge and the mountains surrounding Saas-Fee. Wifi was working great in the hotel. The hotel has no lift so you've to use the stairs to get in the room. One thing that I've missed was during the breakfast: Warm dishes as bacon, sausages and omelette. There could also have been some fresh orange juice but it's not critical. Many thanks also to Mike for his warm welcome.

Been here before, however during Summer time and it's such a beautilf place to visit with stunning views of the mountains! Last week I visited on a sunny day and spent several hours sitting on the terrace deck (on the ground) enjoying the sun, views, skiers, snow & mountains and of course some drinks & fries 🍟🍺⛰️ It was LOVELY! :) Will return end of August ❤️

I only tried the salad buffet, but wow, what a surprise! I’ve been to many ski resorts, and I’ve never seen such a massive and diverse salad buffet (normally most stuff from salad buffets in mountain restaurants is canned food, like canned cabbage, beans etc.) but this one was different. There was an impressive selection of salads (and even sashimi fish), and so many other options to choose from. Honestly, it was probably the biggest salad buffet I’ve ever come across—and it was really good! I can’t comment on the other dishes since I didn’t try them, but I noticed a lot of comfort food options like fries with chicken nuggets or sausages. However, for a ski resort restaurant, the variety of salads they offer is fantastic. If you’re a fan of salads or looking for a fresh and healthier option, this place is definitely worth a stop. Highly recommend the salad buffet! 🥗 100 gramm costs 4.50 CHF, which is of course not cheap, but for the chicken niggets with fries you also pay 24.-

Most beautiful lunch spot in SaaS fee! Yes.... you need to walk or ski&walk a little bit to get there. But 30 min well spend!! The food is delicious (try the rosti fondue!!), views are stunning and the beer is cold! What more can I ask for?? Oh yeah! Peace and quite even on busy days on the slope.

Very nice SAC hut with a spectacular view, good amenities and welcoming hosts! Food was ok, but portions a bit small, and neither the tea nor the morning coffee were hot.

(+) Superb location (not far away from the lift, great start of several 4K tours), friendly stuff, cosy ambient (-) VERY bad food for the price! I would never expect this in Switzerland and I was just dissapointed. Shortly: good food is always an inherent part of a good skitour (and those tours are the hardest ones you can do in Europe). Feeling of heartburn after low-quality food is not really something you would like to have daily. OK, put there a higher pricetag, I really would like to pay it, but offer superb food (get inspiration from Austrian cottages where they serve local dishes with love) - good start would be wider selection for the breakfast.

All around great experience. I did the hike from Mattmark via Allaingletscher Glacier. Was incredible. I’m a pretty veteran hiker but going up was a toughie. My first hike in the Alps (hiked extensively throughout N American west coast) was just as breathtaking as I’d imagined. Think my highest elevation hike ever? I’m visiting Switzerland for a week from Canada. I know things are priced higher, and I’m trying not to be hung up on it.. that said - 10 CHF for a litre of water. Any need guys? We’re in the middle of the Alps... install a filtered tap that charges 3 CHF for two litres or something, reduce plastic wastage, more locally and awesome sourced water. I think two beers with similar volume was same price. I just felt price gouged and went and found a stream.

Always wonderful to come back here : Winter or Summer! For me it's the nearest place from where to best view the Fee Glacier. Additionally there's a very good restaurant/bar aswell (the furthest of the two)! Picts taken 18.04.23

Very nice easy hike even for those like us, overweight and untrained. We reached the small lake and enjoyed the peace and fresh air. I have seen an uncautious guy swim in the freezing water, please don't do that.

In winter, it's your average ski lift station probably. In the summer however, one of the most easily accessible places to observe a glacier up close.

Aqua Allalin in Saas-Fee is the ideal spot for relaxation after a day of outdoor activities. The spa offers a clean and modern wellness area with stunning mountain views, including hot saunas facing the magnificent mountains. Visitors can enjoy an indoor heated pool with slides and a jacuzzi, making it a great place for families. The facility also features a massage area for those seeking additional relaxation.
Only used the wellness area. Amazing in the winter in the mornings. Very low key. No textiles (read bathing suits) hot saunas facing the magnificent mountains. Relaxation corner after a cold shower also excellent. Photo shows the view you have but it’s not from the spa

Amazing place. Why 4? Because the jacuzzi wasn’t warm. Super modern, very big and mostly clean. The swimming pool is not very warm, but if you want to exercise yourself is amazing.

The pool is fantastic. The women in the reception desk are helpful. However, the man to take care of the locker room in swimming pool is so rude. He said it is time to close and kicked us out from changing room. We had to rush out. When I checked the time, it was still 2 minutes left . Can't believe that is an attitude from hospitality industry.

Saas-Grund - Hohsaas is a breathtaking destination nestled in the Swiss Alps, surrounded by 18 majestic peaks soaring above 13,000 feet, including the towering Dom. Visitors can embark on an exhilarating cable car ride to the Hohsaas viewpoint for stunning panoramas of the Mischabel chain and Monte Rosa massif. For those eager to explore further, a scenic circular trail begins at the cable station, offering captivating vistas and informative boards about the surrounding mountains.
Amazing place for skiing Good for beginners with 2 easy and fun slopes If more advanced there are long and wide red slopes but it takes a while to get back up (gondolas are slooooow). Saas Fee is better for advanced skiers/riders Also the view is beautiful, you can see Saas Fee on the opposite side of the valley Would go again! Except if bad snow, then not much to do there

Spent a big chunk of my summer exploring the trails all around Saas Grund on a mt bike. It was mind bending! The trails are legit, technical, old school mt biking. Once I got the lay of the land, I was able to put together large rides every day. Saas Grund is new to the mt biking game and you should definitely go before it gets crowded. There were days when I would be on the trails for 8 hours and see just one person. I found myself falling asleep at night dreaming about what the next day..nothing short of epic!!

This exceptional dining establishment boasts an extensive selection of dishes, surpassing expectations with its superb quality. The food surpassed anticipated standards and was highly recommendable; it truly left an indelible impression.
If you happen to be in the area, this is a must do. The service is super friendly. The food is great with an excellent selection and presentation. We shared the table with a couple from Lucerne … lovely people and lots of great info about the area and Switzerland in general. Images do not do the location justice. Our party ordered the beef goulash, the raclette and the salmon … the fries were also delicious! After lunch, the underground funicular, which is an interesting and exciting experience, brings you all the way to the top. It’s a long ski to the bottom, pretty steep and challenging, but well worth the effort. Don’t hesitate!

A truly unique place to eat! The menu is quite big for a restaurant so high up the mountains and the quality does not disappoint at all. The food was even better than what we expected, really good and without a doubt recommendable. We got blown away by how good it was! This review is for the restaurant. Our dinner was great! I chose the menu of the day, which included a salad as a starter and duck as the main course, while my partner had a soup and a cordon bleu. We shared everything, and I must say, all the dishes were excellent—except for the potatoes that accompanied the cordon bleu, which were not cooked properly. The service was great, and Theresa was really attentive and friendly. Additionally, we enjoyed a discount of 40% on the excellent Gamay we ordered.

Restaurant
Hotel-Restaurant Bergheimat is an exceptional establishment that excels in all aspects, including its atmosphere, warmth, efficiency, beverages, and particularly its exquisite cuisine. It offers a remarkable dining experience even for late arrivals after enduring traffic delays. This is uncommon in Switzerland where most kitchens close by 10 p.m. The hotel itself may not have a five-star rating but it is still highly commendable for being pleasant, welcoming and well-maintained.
Perfect place for families and kids. Nice dinner buffet, generous portions, helpful staff for a very fair price - especially for Swiss standards. We stayed here as a group, of 30 kids and parents.

Quite large rooms, right next to a bus stop, but it takes the personal ages to refill the breakfast bufet. I once had to eat a bun with butter, because there everything else ran out

NEVER EVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT BECAUSE IT’S THE BIGGEST SCAM I EVER EXPERIENCED! How can you serve a water in a plastic bottle (!!!) for 14 CHf, which is triple the price in Zurich and moreover - it was not the same bottle that was charged on the bill. When I asked to show me the drinks menu, they said they don’t have a water in menu. I informed the service and manager that I’m not going to pay more than 5 CHF for this, moreover - it’s illegal to charge for the positions you are not able to present the client in the menu. Reading the reviews of other customers I see I’m not the only one that was cheated. I told the manager we are going to report it to the police. It’s the biggest scam ever, and in Switzerland?! Unbelievable!

Reasonable hotel. Pleasant rooms, bad food, poor service, welness not existing The rooms are very good, given the price/quality-equation. The food less good. The breakfasts are the same, every morning, and doesnt give any proper fuel for your body; baseline has to be eggwhites. The dinners just are totally made out of packages, considering taste, and the portion sizes are to little. Servingstaff was a breath of fresh air though. Very friendly! The welness wasnt available due to 'electrical problems'. Hospitality and any form of communication was totally missing. The owners of the hotel must have inherited the property, cause they dont have the 'host-gene'. Overall, reasonable. I understand that you offer a low price, and that the quality of the stay will be like that, but you cant ignore basic hospitality. Proper food amounts for dinner & a smile when guests arrive are basically free. Furthermore: dont promise welness-service when you dont think its worth the amount the guests are paying. The location is good though! Straight access to the Saas Grund ski-area and the busstop to the alpin-lift in saas Fee is in front of the building.

Extraordinary in all areas. Ambience, friendliness, speed, drinks and especially the exquisite food a great experience. Had traffic jams that day and arrived after 10pm and was still able to choose from everything from the complete menu card. This is not normal in Switzerland. From 10 p.m. at the latest, all kitchens of hotels and restaurants are closed. I'm still amazed by this experience. Thanks and see you soon.
Roman F — Google review
This hotel is steeped in old fashioned hospitality standards. For modern westerners to much meat and to little veggies. Serving staff is excellent. Central communication should be better. A bit distant hotel owners that are not receptive for compliments or proper communication.

This place has the most incredible pizza dipping sauce! We ordered pumpkin soup to start out and it was very flavorful with the perfect amount of seasoning. They have a plethora of vegetarian options and can also do gluten free if asked. The stuffed tortellini with mushroom cream sauce was flavorful without being heavy. The Doc pizza, which had tomato, basil & mozzarella, had perfectly crispy edges and was served with a smokey chili sauce. Believe me when I say you'll want to put that sauce on everything. The meal with finished with a panna cotta surrounded by a moat of sauce made with berries, and an apricot sorbet bathed in an apricot schnapps. Enjoyed our meal so much that we came back the next day and ordered The Doc to go with a side salad.
