Interesting and extensive museum, gives great insight in the becoming of Karlskrona. The submarine is most impressive, although all the other exhibitions were also created with great care. One minor problem was that not all the signage was always available in English, or maybe only one sentence was while the Swedish text was very extensive. Google Translate solved this, but that could be improved for foreign visitors.
While not a huge museum, it has some great exhibits, not least a very large naval submarine you can go inside and walk about in. There is a theatre that shows a very well presented film on the timeline of the Swedish navy. All the exhibits are displayed well and have English explanations alongside those in Swedish. The information is not verbose, which is a mistake often made by museums I've been too. The museum has an excellent restaurant which rounds off a really enjoyable experience overall !
Most beautifull museum for marine, I've seen.
Being able to visit a real U-boot on the inside completly, just gives you much more feeling with the history and live in the marine.
Also the lunch buffet in the museum is good quality.
Very interesting exposition includes 2 submarines and 3 ships. Good for visiting with kids. Also discount is available for entance if less than 1 hour until closure left
A lovely couple of hours entertainment. Lots of bits that both kids and adults can enjoy like the nuclear submarine you can go on - do expect queues in busier periods. Really nicely weaved in overarching narratives with rich personal stories and events such as the Polish submariners who fled to Sweden in WW2 and Swedish conscripts experiences of the cold war.
For an Englishman a fascinating way to learn more about Sweden's evolution through regional power, to superpower, to the softpower and cultural force you see today.
Very interesting museum offering informal text in various languages. It is a very interactive museum aswell with educational games so you easier can learn about for example submarines and how they work. You can enter a submarine aswell and see how they lived in there and more.
There is also a buffet restaurant at the entrance if you want a quick bite before or after your visit.
I’ve been visiting the Blekinge region for years, and I must confess that this museum surprised me very positively with its accurate exhibitions and attention to detail. It transports you back in time and offers a magnified view beneath the surface of Karlskrona’s naval mastery.
The museum doesn’t earn a full five stars because the bistro offers only limited and rather bland plant-based options, while most Swedish classic meals served are centered around meat and fried fish. Moreover, I felt the museum’s exhibitions tended to present Sweden’s naval and military history in a way that passively promotes war. Despite being a civilian institution, the displays often focus on military achievements and hardware without encouraging deeper reflection on the consequences or ethical complexities of conflict. I would have appreciated a more critical perspective that invites visitors to consider the broader impacts of war, rather than treating it as an inevitable or unproblematic part of national history.

Bistro Skeppsgossen in Karlskrona offers a delightful opportunity to savor authentic Blekinge cuisine with its well-prepared traditional Swedish dishes. The buffet features a variety of options including kroppkakor, stekt sill, kottbullar, and raggmunk med flask. The charming outdoor seating allows guests to enjoy the view and sounds of the waves while indulging in the local delicacies.
Good local food (Blekinge style) all you can eat buffe with plenty of choices and delicious Swedish food.
Apart from the food they also serve locally toasted coffee and locally made ice-cream. The ice-cream is in my opinion the best in town.
There is not a lot to choose from but I'm unable to describe how good it is. I can gladly recommend hazelnut or pecan flavors.

A superb place. We were there on 18th Aug, the last day before they close before autumn. It was full of fun, full of music, full of dances, full of love. Also it was on a perfect location.
Crowdy, but there are tables upstairs that many might not notice. Food was fresh and tasty, salads were rather heavy and creamy.
Always worth to stop here and eat the lunchbuffe. Exellent and quality swedish food. Nice view over the habour.
All you can eat. Use stairs to go up. View even nicer. If weather allows you can sit outside too. Be aware of seagulls!!!!
If you want well cooked traditional Swedish food (sadly a bit difficult to find in this country), then come here.
Stekt strömming, kroppkakor (stekta och kokta; med skirat smör), köttbullar, rårörda lingon. For vegans there is not much protein aside from vegan "köttbullar". Be sure to get some pickled cucumber and red onion as well.
The weekend price for the lunch buffet is 159sek currently.
Excellent buffet with classics from sweden and blekinge:
Meatballs, lingonberries, kroppkakor, potatoes, and a sallad buffet too.
Reasonable price, especially for students, and you will not go hungry after a visit.

The spread is nice and priced reasonably..the meatballs were scrumptuous coupled with fresh salads and soup..the deep fries were not my personal favorite, but good local beer washes it all down well..the place sits just outside the naval museum tends to attract weekend crowds, so plan your travel accordingly or be ready to queue up..

Some nice cars, some motorcycle, but sadly it was pretty boring.

The car museum is linked with the porcelain museum was irrelevant for us. Unfortunately when we visited the car museum they didn’t have so many cars they do have a great bike - motorbike collection and a Beatles room. I’d recommend calling first to get info if they have the full car collection otherwise you will end up disappointed
Nice place for a nice price (50 sek). Lots of beautiful cars and a nice display of different vehicle toys. Great place to bring any Cars crazy kid to look at and getting a shot with the "real" Doc Hudson ☺️
Great place to visit and see some old, popular racing cars. Also, spending 80 sek will allow you to see the porcelain museum next to it.

Rosenbom is a significant figure in Karlskrona, standing in front of the church for over 200 years. This wooden carving of an old man holds a collection box for charitable donations to help the poor. Although his hat was damaged, visitors can still see the original inside the church. Rosenbom is not only a local idol but also plays a major part in newly graduates tradition.
I really loved the Rosenbom statue — it feels so warm and down-to-earth. It’s not flashy or over the top, just this simple wooden figure that kind of feels like it’s been there forever, quietly watching over the church. There’s something comforting about it, like it’s part of the town’s heart and stories.
I wasn’t expecting to feel connected to a statue, but Rosenbom somehow makes you think about kindness and history without being preachy. Definitely a cool little find if you’re wandering around Karlskrona and want something that feels genuine and a bit special.

This place is so famous, I was able to secure a sticker before getting back in the cruise ship. Having a guide retell the story was cool as well. Church services continue after all of these years.
Impressive place especially for people who knows fairytale about Nils and the Geese. Very recommended. Under the hat of Rosenbom there is a place to left some money/coins for charity
The story is about a man who begged for money to give to the less fortuned. You can put your coins in a slot if you raise his hat like in the videp.

I thought we were going to another restaurant but I was not disappointed. We walked into a cozy traditional Swedish ambiance atmosphere. We were greeted by the owner and presented to our table. After a bit of time looking at traditional Swedish art we were asked for our drink order and the menu. We had choices ranging from traditional food to a variety of fish, meat and pasta dishes. We started with an excellent pizza followed by a variety of dishes of excellent quality. We couldn't ask for better service the entire evening. Prices were extremely reasonable. Parking in the center of the city required payment except in the evening. Reservations are recommended. I will be back on my next visit.

Great atmosphere inside! Wonderful, attentive Staff, who are fluent in English. Even on a busy saturday evening, they found time to briefly converse and were quicker than lightning with my order. A must-visit for anyone!

Was really looking forward to coming here for a drink/ dinner and was met with quite rude staff at the bar when asked if we could bring our dog in, who is very small. They first gave an answer like “yes we allow dogs but only in that room” and then said the restaurant was “full” at 5:30pm which felt like lies.
Also just generally the vibe of the staff toward English speaking customers was rude! I’m sure they wouldn’t treat a Swede that way. Happy we took our business elsewhere in the end.
Avoid this place if you have a dog or want to speak English without having your eyes rolled at by the unfriendly staff.
In general it was nice, much potential, but they're not quite there.
There's some things that can be approved upon.
When we arrived, most tables were booked, but not until at least 45 min later, one table even 2h after our arrival, but we couldn't sit there. We were sat on a long thin high table instead where a plate barely fit instead of one of the empty tables.
I don't understand a flight of beer being so much more expensive per cl than a normal glass. when the point is to let the customer get a taste of your different beers after which they will be happy to order a full glass. The food is alright but trying too hard, the pizza had too much sauce on it and it was hard to scrape off without wasting food. It hid a lot of the otherwise nice pizza and it didn't sit quite right afterwards.
The beer was the best part of the evening, and I would gladly come back for a beer if and when I'm back in Karlskrona.
Great micro-brewery for authentic beer lovers. Service is great and speak English. At least 12 different beers for all tastes! The Berry Sour one is amazing.
Absolutely fantastic pizza, and unique small batch beers. Pizza base dough is light and fluffy, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. No soggy pizzas in sight! Very flavourful toppings. There's something for everyone! I'm drooling just thinking about it. Best pizza I've ever ate.

Here you can try multiple beers from the own brewery and the food is very special and good. The Pizza is not what you await, definitely no Italien Pizza but very delicious. We enjoyed our time here! The staff is friendly, the session is great, and the wheat beer was very unique. Food is a little too expensive to my taste, however I enjoyed everything very much.

Run don't walk to get some really good pizza and pasta!! We walked in around six thirty and the place was almost completely full. The atmosphere is great and the servers are wonderful. The pasta with scampi and the ravioli with burrata are 10/10. Pizza diavola could be a bit more spicy, but overall very good.
The dessert with merengue was good, but way to sweet. A smaller layer of merengue would take this dessert one trough the roof!

Very good food. I ordered the Pasta Scampi. It was very taste. However i did expect more shrimps in the pasta. When ordering a shrimp basen dish I do expect more than 4 shrimps in the entire dish.

North side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the north side side of town. Start the day off with Willys, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Barnens Gård AB Karlskrona. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

There’s a peaceful garden and some interesting sculptures, like Lilla Flora, tucked just outside. The buildings themselves are beautiful, especially with the historical vibe of the old stone walls.
It’s a relaxing spot to stroll through, and you still get a sense of the region’s history just from the surroundings. Would definitely come back another time to explore the inside!

Easy to get to and very interesting information about Karlskrona. Quiet, contemplative, nice garden. Free entrance. I recommend this if you want to know more about the world heritage Karlskrona.
Free visit : it contains a garden, a museum and an art gallery where they represent local artists.
It's pretty small museum, but with beautiful garden. A lot of information written in swedish only. Also there are a lot of things to do with kids, but even if you're traveling without kids this place worth spending half an hour to look around and see the garden

Hoglands Park is a very pleasant public garden I had the chance to work in during the two days of the Live Green Festival 2018. It is clean, beautiful and in the center of Karlskrona. I recommend this place.

Security is rigorous and biased. Twice a month, they groundlessly checked my purchases. And once they accused me of paying for cheaper donuts than the ones I took. When the matter was cleared, they kindly apologize me, but ... The rest of the staff outside security are very nice and helpful. I recommend the ICA or Lidl supermarket. I didn't have a "random search" there.
Grocery at convenient location and most groceries are available but not all compare to Willy's store at slottsbacken. Infant products go out of stock very fast.

Great one but keeps on asking for ID to buy alcohol. I know it’s the government rule but got rid of showing the id every time i visit.
Great shop for buying alcohol. They are very strict with the age limit of shoppers which is very nice.
The timings are a bit uncomfortable. They can improve it by extending for an hour or 2 and also open on sunday for at least 4-5 hours.

Really good place for the kids and family. Nice to pay one entrance fee that covers everything and not having to pay extra for rides.
Before swimming we had a look at the animals, played in the big playground full of interesting and clever designs. We even went on the trampolines and drove the really cool cars and trucks. This was the highlight for my 3 year old.
The weather was not really the kindest to us, but we still managed to get some swimming in the pool done. It would have been nice to have the water temperature written up somewhere to see - but im guessing that it wasnt much above 22 degrees c and that is really cold for a 3 year old!
I also noticed the absence of lifeguards. Well more than one - is that usual?
The pool area was however very clean and well maintained. Extra plus was being able to borrow a parasol to get some well needed shade!
We stayed for lunch, the kids and we liked the food which was reasonably priced and tasty. Nice concept idea with the make your own pizzas too! Home made mashed potato also went down very well with the kids.
A good place to spend the day with younger children. A water world also but didnt take pictures there. Animals; rabbits, goats, hens, pigs and horses
The kids really enjoyed it. There are animals to pet, pony ride, jumping castles, playground and water park. There is a restaurant or option for picnic. We enjoyed it!

Fun and rural for the young'uns! If you have a short kid, the extra cost to get access to the ponies and cars is probably not worth it.
It is very good place for family. Childres are happy. The fun day passes very quickly. We recommend this place :)

Nice central location. Great decor of the place. Pleasant staff and quick service. Good food also for kids. Free popcorn for the kids at the entrance. The aperol spritz was to watery, the GT was great.

Unfortunately it's not a good place for non Swedish tourists; the app only works with Swedish phone numbers. If it would work... We loaned a phone from the restaurant, a lot of errors on the app. After a while we got it to work. Drinks were ready in a heartbeat. The first round was ready in about 20 minutes. The dishes were very small and not worth the amount of money they want for it. It tasted good! Can't say anything bad about that.
The second round we ordered, we didn't get a push message on the app. So after 40 (!)minutes, just as I was about to ask the waitress why it took so long. She brought it to our table. A few minutes later 5 push messages were delivered.
The food was cold but I was so hungry so I ate it. When we asked for the bill and I told her it was cold she apologized but didn't came with a solution.
We won't go there again. Overpriced, app and/or its system didn't work with cold dishes as a result.
Friendly personeel, explained good in English, the girls could ask for more popcorn but... we ate dessert and left before it arrived.
Some popcorn on the floor, it was not busy but there was no time to broom... Hence the 4 stars, otherwise 5!
Great atmosphere inside and nice selection of drinks and food. Sometimes staff are a bit slow to clear the table and seem to ignore your napkin. Food is delicious and I recommend the non-alcoholic sweet cocktails.

Really nice decor. The food is tasty but the tapas are more American than Spanish. The price is very steep for such small portions. The order is made through an app and there isn't a way to make special requests or changes to the food.

We travel to Karlskrona every summer, this restaurant is a must every time. The staff is always equally friendly and entertaining. Pair that with some delicious food and nice open scenery towards the sea and you've got the perfect summer evening. Would warmly recomend.

I won't visit this restaurant again. Although the staff was very pleasant and always smile, the food (pizza) was terrible. Pizza dough was insipid, definitely not enough salt. Pizza sauce was made from tomato concentrate with very limited spices. Prices are ok, not too expensive, but it is not enough to go back to this restaurant.
Tried the Vegetarian Pizza. It was really soft and taste was pretty good. Requested for little spicy and there it was. Garlic sauce is also something you can try with the pizza.
Got a plastic piece in my food and not even ”we’re sorry” from the guy running the place, even though I told them discretely just to be nice. Do not eat in this sorry little pizzeria unlesss you want to get insulted/disrespected.

I'm not a huge fan of the fact that they fill your wineglass at the bar, not at the table. You don't have any control over what you are served. The chocolate fondant was served cold, so that is a significant minus.....
When asking for the bill I was just presented with the card machine and an amount, no bill.
Yes I know I could just have sent the cake back and asked for a proper bill, but that's all things I expect from the restaurant. The same goes for the wine, I could just have sent it back, but it wouldn't change much in the end.
I want to preface this by saying that the 3 stars do not signify that this is a bad restaurant, i thought the food was quite good. But the rest, mainly the atmosphere, was kind of lacking. I had the burger and it was pretty nice, it did certainly take a while to arrive despite the restaurant being rather empty. I wouldn't quite say it's a 3/5, more like a 3,5/5, but that isn't possible as a score, so a 3/5 it is.
"Parken mussles" were absolut tasteless, cooked water with a bit of oil, it seemed.
Service was very good, when we were asked for quality and didn't show a lot of praise the chef came to our table & offered an alternate dish. As we had not directly complaint we were very positivly suprised. The Tuna salat (free of charge) was excellent.
The athmosphere at the park is nice, a kids play ground right next to the restaurant.

Got turned down by a fancy restaurant and ended up here. Completely exceeded our expectations. Salmon pasta is tasty and not fishy. One downside is not having English menu so it's kind of hard to order.
Very rude personell and expensive for a low quality food ( hair on my food).
First, when they served the food, they just put the plate on the corner of table instead of putting in front of me!
Second , the food was not warm , very little portion with a red hair inside ! Also if you dare to take salad more than once from the salad corner, you will receive a grumpy face!
Third, I wanted to pay and there was two prices and I didn’t have my glasses on , so when I asked what is the others price for, the girl at cashier said it is for senior citizens. And the owner (woman) rudely got back to me ” are you a senior person?”
That was my last time I tried there and I do not recommend their food or service at all.
You can just choose other places by few steps around which offers you more quality in the meal and service!

The shrimp toast was good, the burger wasn't good. There was an extremely long waiting time for pretty much everything. If you want to go here, go earlier than you would've done before you read this review. The atmosphere was fine.
It is a very nice place with an elegant decoration and a great outer view but prices are a bit high. Ther dishes are tasty and it contains a variety of fish types. I like it and I highly recommend it.

En sommarkväll som visade sig från sin allra bästa sida. Vi valde bord på uteserveringen fin utsikt över hamnen och havet var spegelblankt. Men det som ändå stod ut var kvaliteten på maten. Vi är från västkusten som jag anser är meckat för mat från havet. Vi valde att äta hälleflundra och en stor ”fisklåda” med vitlöksbröd och västerbottenost paj. Helt magiskt gott. Personalen gjorde kvällen ännu bättre. Nästa gång jag är i Karlskrona så blir det en repris.
