Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Located on the hill of St. Matthew in Sassari, Castello dei Doria offers a rich historical experience and stunning panoramic views over the Gulf of Asinara towards Corsica and the town of Castelsardo. The castle features medieval weapons, an exhibition on weaving, and a museum with amazing sea views. Visitors can enjoy the quiet atmosphere and take in the scenery while exploring the castle. Additionally, there are small streets, bars, and a museum nearby for further exploration.
The castle, built in the 13th century by the noble Genoese Doria family as "Castel Genovese" and the views were just amazing, left us speachless. More than 100 m high overlooking the city, the castle was occupied by the military for centuries and until a few decades ago it still served as a barracks for the Carabinieri. There are a lot of food and drinks options while you are up there, so feel free to take your time!
Bogdan B — Google review
The castle looks good from the outside while inside only the panorama is beautiful. And there are no more attractions as for me. It is not worth the price.
Justyna R — Google review
Great views and rich history, just a bit touristy Castello dei Doria offers breathtaking views over Castelsardo and the sea—especially impressive on a clear day. The walk up through the old town is steep but beautiful. The castle itself is well preserved and has an interesting weaving museum inside. It can feel a bit touristy and crowded during peak times, but overall it’s a very worthwhile stop if you’re exploring the area.
Plamen R — Google review
Well worth the steep walk from the town park.it is possible to drive up to near tge castle or use the local shuttle bus. Well preserved and home of basket weaving .spectaclur views.
Joe C — Google review
Castello is marvolus sculpture on the top of small Castelsardo, which you can reach by the colurfull stairs. It has some great histiry to show, some art, the walls gives you samo shaddow and the view thru the golf, Stintino and Corsica are spectacular. And you get written Slovenian guide thru the castello..that is something😃
Petra B — Google review
Very beautiful and worth the visit,a lot of history inside.
Peter C — Google review
The Torre di Frigiano is beautifully lit at night, creating a magical and relaxing atmosphere. It would be great to extend the pedestrian walkway from Porto di Castelsardo to the Calisthenics park – it would make the evening stroll even more enjoyable
G S — Google review
Unless you're into basket weaving, I'd skip the museum, but views from the castle are spectacular.

MIM - Museo dell'Intreccio Mediterraneo is housed within the historic Castle of Doria, dating back to the 12th century. The museum's collection showcases a wide array of artifacts and crafts from Mediterranean regions, offering insights into traditional working techniques and practical applications. Visitors can explore two main sections focusing on the craftsmanship and utilization of these items.
A lovely place with great views. Nice castle but the museum collection is a bit non-interesting. But ok for this price good enough, also ti see the view from top.
Janez I — Google review
Audio guides were good but poorly directed for the layout of the museum (no signs) so was very confused as to which places were the museum or not.
Jessica F — Google review
Not worth your money, there's not much to see besides the view of the sea, but there are some other places with the same view

The small museum features handmade traps for marine animals, cooking utensils and everyday items. Everything is knitted from grass or reeds.

Spiaggia la Marina di Castelsardo

4.0
(309)
Spiaggia la Marina di Castelsardo is a charming beach nestled beneath rocky cliffs, offering a unique blend of fine sand and small flat stones. This picturesque spot is ideal for families, especially with young children, as the gentle waters are easy to navigate without many rocks underfoot. While it can get crowded due to its limited space, the calm conditions make it perfect for swimming and snorkeling adventures.
This is a fine city beach with rough sand, surrounded by rocks, so protected against waves. We were there with 2 small kids and they were happy there playing in the water. There is a small bar at the beach and closeby few restaurants, where You can have a good meal... Free shower for your lefs and 0,50€ for big shower...
Tomáš K — Google review
How one can describe this beach as comfortable does not open to me (see comment below). Waste everywhere .... How to bathe at the sewage of the sewer system is completely incomprehensible for me .. there are much nicer spots on that nice island.
Index A — Google review
Very small beach, nice panorama in the back, good for families with small children
Gianluca G — Google review
Unlike most beaches in the area this small one doesn't have a lot of rocks on the bottom of the sea which is great for getting in and out of the water without a hitch. However, the beach/water it's easily crowded because of its limited space. Furthermore, due to the pier-like structure on the side, there aren't any real waves. This leads to people's sunscreen not drifting away with the current, thus forming an oily layer on the surface lateron in the day (yuck)... Lucklily there's showers to wash yourself off if you happen to get some of it on you (at a fee of 50 cents) and also a place to get a drink or snack/ice cream. You can also rent a sun bed there, at 7 euros for a day (as of July 2018). All in all a very quaint and cosy little beach, considering the options in the close vicinity, but nothing to get excited about.
Sander B — Google review
Nice beach, small, no waves, popular. Many fish seen while snorleling. Many sea urchins further out and at the rocks on the side. Many kids and young adults. In the back of the beach there is a small beach bar/cafe with some food. Can als rent na umbrella and/or sunbeds from there.
Rafael K — Google review
Nice and quaint little beach! Perfect for children.

Had great time, black sand. Left side is calmer and right side is wilder. 🏄🏻‍♂️🌊 The shower is available what is great and you can have a snack in beach bar.

Cute beach with nice cafes and not too many tourists. We had a fun day despite the wind and high waves - on other days it’s perfectly calm!
Lisa A — Google review
For scuba diving and snorkeling its perfect. Swimming also great, clean water, some time its windy and it has little waves. For children its perfect as well its isnt deep at all.

Soft sand, pure water, interesting underwater life (highly recommended to take snorkelling mask with you). The only downside - enormous number of people during high season

Roccia dell'Elefante, also known as Elephant Rock, is a remarkable natural formation located along state road 134 in the Castelsardo area of Sardinia. This large rust-colored boulder, about four meters high, bears a striking resemblance to a seated elephant. Not only is it an intriguing sight to behold, but it also holds archaeological significance as it contains two ancient Fairy Houses used for burial rituals thousands of years ago.
From the right angle the rock really looks like an elephant, but if you check it around is losing its magic😂 Is an interesting rock. Honestly the view behind it was spectacular. All the green hills were wonderful. But I think that was because we visited in April - I guess the rest of the year its all yellow from the heat.
Andreea D — Google review
"A unique rock formation right by the road. We parked on the roadside and walked up to it easily in a short time. Very easy to access and a quick, interesting stop along the way."
Dalila C — Google review
So funny to see this rock shaped like an elephant, who knew there were elephants in Sardinia. There is some parking for about 10 cars by the side of the road. If you in the area its worth a look.
Richard A — Google review
Unique rock formation! A must if you are exploring the northern part of island. Parking on the side of the road.
Connection E — Google review
It's pretty cool for a short stop before Castalsardo. But be careful because sometimes it likes to dance around. 😉🐘
Kaloyan C — Google review
Worth seeing if you’re nearby, but not worth driving many kilometers just for this attraction. However, there are plenty of other sights in the area.
Przemysław G — Google review
It is unbelivable how the likeness is this rock to an elephant! There was quite some people, but we enjoyed it!

Very interesting rock formation! If you look closely in the inside you can spot two bull heads engraved in it. Definitely worth a stop

Ristorante Al Castello is a must-visit gem nestled in the charming town of Castelsardo. This delightful eatery showcases local cuisine with an elaborate twist, featuring fresh seafood and shellfish sourced daily. Diners can expect generous portions that are beautifully prepared, making every meal a memorable experience. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between chic and understated, complemented by a warm and welcoming staff who ensure attentive service throughout your visit.
Great place in front of the castle. Delicious tuna tartare, fish of the day and fregola!! Magnificent atmosphere for dinner. Owner/Manager is familiar with Poland and plan to visit us this year :).

The food and service were unbelievably great!! The owner came and spoke to us, told us a bit of history about the chef, and offered us a local spirit at the end to taste. Super delicious! Highly recommend

Best night of my life. Food excellent, company even better. Bring scopa cards, they love to play ❤️❤️
Janine S — Google review
A great restaurant at a perfect location. The food is high quality and extremely delicious, served by friendly staff. A fair price for the culinary experience. We had seared tuna with eggplant and traditional Sardinian ravioli and both were excellent. I highly recommend, if you are looking for a luxury, yet still affordable, restaurant.
Kate — Google review
This is the best meal I have ever had....ever. The manager was very friendly and welcoming. I asked if they had a vegan option, and there wasn't one on the menu but the chef very kindly made one for me. This was aubergine with black spaghetti (made with charcoal instead of squid ink), saffron puree and fresh truffle. It was fresh and full of flavour. The chef is incredible. He even came up to see me and checked it was all OK. The only down point for me is that I do not live locally so cannot come and try this amazing dish again. Thank you
Kaylee P — Google review
🚩Ridiculously high prices, tiny portions, slow service. From the beginning, the waiter didn’t give us a menu and told us that only a 3-course set menu was available—either fish or meat—for 60 euros per set. It sounded good, but turned out miserable: 1 oyster, 1 shrimp, a tiny slice of fish, a small serving of pasta, a quarter of a tuna steak, and a piece of eggplant—all for 60 euros! The first course—just some oysters, shrimp, and fish—took 40 minutes to arrive, even though it didn’t need cooking! We spent 1.5 hours for lunch, mostly waiting. When the bill came, we saw an extra 6 euros charge for a few slices of stale bread. The total bill came to 146 euros for 2 set meals (as shown in the photo), 2 glasses of cheap wine, 2 small beers, and the unwanted bread. To make things worse, the women’s bathroom door didn’t even close. Avoid this place.

Al Castello Restaurant in Castelsardo: Atmosphere and Ambiance: The restaurant is perched atop a hill, offering breathtaking views of the sea and the historic town of Castelsardo. The outdoor terrace is charming, especially during sunset. However, the interior decor could use some updating. Service: The service was friendly but lacked attentiveness. One waitor was lacking any talent. I have had to open the wine bottle for him. Another one, managed it with excellence. However we have appreciated the complimentary glass of spumante provided by the owner upon arrival. Food: Fresh Fish of the Day: We opted for the catch of the day, which was a beautifully grilled sea bass. The fish of around 700g was after being filleted a 200 to 250g piece. A bit too less for 2 persons. The fillet was flavorful and perfectly cooked. However, the pricing system based on weight (€10 per 100g) felt a bit steep for the final fillet end. Side Dishes: The accompanying roasted vegetables were hardly visible —and not tasty. Dessert: We skipped it this time. Spumante: The complimentary glass of spumante was a delightful touch. It had a pleasant effervescence and paired well with our appetizers. Improvements Needed: While the food quality was generally ok, the overall experience fell short due to the relation quality/price/service. There rare good and bad tables on the terrace. We have had a bad one, in the left corner giving me the view on a wall. Bad luck for me. Despite this, the professionalism of some service staff was lacking and could at least from service side enhance the dining experience at Al Castello. In summary, Al Castello may offer, depending on your table, a picturesque setting but improvements in service and food would elevate it to a recommendable dining spot. 🍽️🌅
Steve L — Google review
I recently dined at Al Castello and unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfying. The food was disappointing, with the duck being particularly awful—it completely ruined the meal. It was so bad that we had to leave and find another restaurant just to have a decent meal. To make matters worse, the prices were steep making the experience even more frustrating. The only redeeming factors were the good selection of wine and the friendly staff, but these were not enough to compensate for the poor quality of the food.

Italian restaurant
Ristorante Pizzeria Bar La Marina offers pizza that is equally excellent as what you can find throughout Italy. What sets this restaurant apart is its remarkable position. Reserve a table in the late afternoon or evening close to the windows and relish in the enchanting beauty of Sardinia's sunset.
My rigatoni di mare was good, the beer was good, but the panacotta was rubbish. I asked if it was home made, and the waitress told me so. I don't know if she misunderstood what I was asking, but it tasted quite bad, not creamy at all. It was served in a glass jar "yogurt style" with a chocolate topping that tasted artificial, like the panacotta. We don't feel there was value for money in that meal. It's our first day in Sardinia, let's see whats next.
Xavier G — Google review
We stopped by as we had to take shelter from the rain in our visit to Castelsardo. We only spent around 20min and we only ordered a bottled beer and an aperol. It cost €16, an absolute ripoff!! And the waiter did not even handed out a bill!! Please stay away from this place!
Santiago M — Google review
First of all it is important to say, that it is not a restaurant but trattoria, which in Italia means a bit lower level of gastronomia. That being said is basically what describes the place the best. It's not the best food you will taste, not the cheapest either, but the location is great, view amazing, service kind and the premises decorated in a traditional style.
Kamila Č — Google review
Very poor quality of food and service! Nothing was tasty, even bread or tomato & basil salad (please see photo), octopus or spaghetti di mare. Fish was acceptable. We very hungry and had to eat some of them. When we asked for changing the bread and tomatoes salad, they said we are complaining 🙂
Sibel C — Google review
Pizza as good as you can have almost everywhere in Italy. The most special thing with this restaurant is its location. Book a table in the afternoon/evening nearby the windows to enjoy the magic of the sunset in Sardinia.
Mario M — Google review
Went here for lunch. Pizza wasn't even in the menu(???). We got the lasagna bolognese and spagetti ala carbonara which was extremely salty otherwise quite tasteless, the rest was ok. They charge you for couvert (fee you must pay for the basket of bread and a few sauce packets they always bring you) it was 1 basket and the sauces, we paid 9€, which is crazy since in other places you get a whole pizza for that. We were disappointed.
Majdi — Google review
We wanted to give the restaurant a chance despite having 3 stars, but would not recommend it, reduced menu, frozen fries. the waiter greeted us with water and bread, not informing us that they were payable. included in the bill. ☹️

Ristorante Da Ugo is a hidden gem that boasts an impressive collection of photos featuring A-listers and celebrities who have dined there, though the restaurant's exterior may not catch your eye at first glance. Traditional, charming, delicious, fresh. I could go on. One of those places where you take what they recommend, a tradition I love. I was spoiled and the price was very reasonable. I took the seafood tasting platter (three different plates of cold and cold delicacies), followed by the seafood pasta. Home made linguini with clams, prawns and more. I had wine, water and coffee, so this was excellent value for money.

If i could put 0 star i would because they tried to scam us. I called for reservation and they said okay and when we arrived they said no place but the owner told the server that we could go in but we can only take the menu where the price is up to 70€ per person and cannot take any other dishes.

Ristorante Pizzeria Bar Ampurias is a Mediterranean restaurant with a good menu that includes fresh fish, pasta and pizza. The service was also good. I would recommend the place, and for the price this is an excellent restaurant.
We came as tourists and left as Sards. Not a tourist trap like other places in the area. A place where also the locals go to eat. We ate there almost every day. Great for Italian sea food lovers. Owner and staff were very nice.

I highly recommend the fisherman risotto incredible. The service was very good, although I had some issues in the end. There was 2 things that were charged extra which were fixed and the catch of the day fish was weighted at 800g it was not, it was at best 500-600g (they did not weight it in front of us).

Kind of scummy business tactics. It says 30 euros per meal and minimum two dishes. When asked, they say it is a big plate, but don't mention you need to pay double the price. Food and atmosphere was ok though.
Gergő S — Google review
I was there with my friend. And we ordered shrimps with Spaghetti and a Salad. He was very disappointed that we orderer a Salad (because of low money income). Prices wäre ok, but the salad was very unlovely and Untasty. Just all ingredients on a plate. And the Shrimps with Spaghetti was ok but also Nottingh special.
Mario A — Google review
For what we have ordered , it's just appalling, unfortunately. Grilled tuna steak was basically raw in the middle, smelled like feet, and super tasteless. Fried calamari was extra tough and gummy - everything needed salt. Fries - really bad. Definitely avoid these two options when choosing your meals.

It was an okay place. The food was mediocre at best. We had a simple pasta with clams and a gnocchetti sardi that was good but not great. We also had the mixed grill of fish which lacked any seasoning whatsoever. Not only but the calamari was insanely tough and the langostine tasted only of burnt.

Day 2

Center of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the center side of town. Start the day off with Cala Ostina, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Cattedrale di sant’Antonio Abate. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Cala Ostina is a charming and secluded beach located in Sardinia, just a short distance from Castelsardo. Tucked away in a tranquil U-shaped cove, this petite sandy beach boasts clear turquoise waters perfect for swimming. The surrounding area features rugged coastal formations that lend to its unique and private atmosphere, making it an ideal escape from the bustling crowds found at other beaches.
Rugged and secluded cove. From the beach you can’t see any buildings. Feels isolated and remote. A nice change from the busy white sand beaches that require bookings and payments and are so crowded you can barely find a place to sit. This beach might not be as beautiful to some, but the peaceful atmosphere is unbeatable if you want to escape the crowds. Lots of room even in August. Looks like a spot locals go to. Also the cove makes the water very calm, even with windy conditions. The first few metres of water were a bit murky at times, but clearer further from shore. Great spot for snorkelling with kids, lots of fish, starfish, sea urchins and even an octopus. Rocky though so proper water shoes would help. Limited parking but we went two days in a row and didn’t have any issues, and it’s free. A bit of a difficult walk down to the beach, especially under the hot sun with heavy bags and in sandals. But still doable.
BB — Google review
Be sure to visit this place. From both sides, if you climb the hill, you have a beautiful view of the historical part of the city of Castelsardo. There is no infrastructure and if the sea is not calm, the water will be muddy. You also need to walk about 10 minutes from the parking lot down, and on the way back you need to climb up small stones. Families with small children will find it difficult and inconvenient. Thanks to the views that open up from the hills on the coast of Castelsardo - I definitely recommend visiting

A very nice bay with a small, mostly rocky beach. There are great views for your photos. For entering the water I recommend using shoes because it is rocky and not very comfortable. You can rent an umbrella and sun-beds ( I don't know the price) but that's it. No other services like the toilet or restaurant are there. There is not much parking space along the entry road. You can go by car only where the asphalt road ends, then you go around 15-20 minutes on walk. Overall, it is a quiet and nice place perfect rather for photos than to enjoy the sea.

Cute little cove. Slightly pebbly but lovely crystal clear water. Calm sea and doesn’t get deep fast. Safe for kids and nice calm atmosphere, not busy and if you’re staying at the resort the beds are free!

Cala Ostina in Sardinia is a coastal gem that rewards those who seek an authentic and tranquil seaside escape. Nestled in nature's embrace, this secluded cove boasts breathtaking beauty that truly shines when experienced in the early morning hours. The calmness of dawn casts a magical aura over the turquoise waters and pristine sands, making it a serene oasis for those who arrive early. To truly savor the unspoiled charm of Cala Ostina, I highly recommend planning your visit during the weekdays rather than weekends. Weekday mornings offer a chance to bask in the peaceful ambiance and relish the untouched splendor without the bustling crowds that often gather on weekends. This strategic choice ensures an intimate and personal connection with the natural wonders of this idyllic spot. As the sun gently rises, casting its golden hues across the landscape, you'll find yourself captivated by the symphony of nature's sounds and the tranquility that envelops you. Whether you're strolling along the shoreline, taking a refreshing dip in the crystalline waters, or simply unwinding with the soothing sound of lapping waves, Cala Ostina offers a rejuvenating retreat that's best enjoyed during the serene moments of early mornings and weekdays.

Since Castelsardo doesn’t have many beaches, we were hoping this one would at least be clean. Unfortunately, even though the road leading there is poorly maintained, the beach itself is even worse — with pieces of glass scattered in the sand, making it dangerous for children to run around. The water is also not very clear or inviting. I wouldn’t recommend this beach.

It takes a bit of effort but it takes about forty minutes to do it, the images refer to this entire journey. The fortifications were built by the Genoese at the beginning of 1100 AD. and for this reason the original name of the town was Castel Genovese, after being conquered it became Castel Aragonese and in 1448 it assumed its current name.

(Translated by Google) At the time of my visit (mid-June 2023), the area was somewhat neglected, giving the idea of disorder and abandonment. I understand that it is challenging to manage the place, but a little more attention from the municipality wouldn't have gone amiss... instead, in addition to the badly trimmed grass, and the very battered wooden structures that represent historical pieces accompanying the bastion, we found little to be happy with. A beautiful spot from which to enjoy the sunset, but not much more, given that the same sunset can be admired further up inside the village which looks much better. It remains a good place to take a few steps away from the crowds of people (in fact it remains little frequented), thinking about what these views of the castle heard and saw in the past, when they were beaten by prominent, well-known and powerful figures in history of Sardinia..

The Cattedrale di Sant'Antonio Abate is a significant religious site in Castelsardo, blending Catalan Gothic and Renaissance classicism. It stands prominently in the historic center, offering panoramic views of the sea. The church's reconstruction from 1597 to the 18th century resulted in its current form, featuring a high bell tower. (Translated by Google) A visit to the cathedral is part of a visit to Castelsardo. Church life played such an important role that it is good to visit this place. What struck me most is the smallness of the cathedral. If you consider that there were many people in the fort and the surrounding area at the time, it seems too limited to give everyone a place. There are several churches in Castelsardo, so together it might just work out. There were also several masses. The church looks somewhat Romanesque but also Gothic, perhaps a hybrid between times. We only took a look inside, did not take a tour or look at the crypt. But worth it.

Il Cormorano had been the best restaurant I’ve been to in Sardinia. I arrived a bit earlier than their opening hours but was welcomed in by and was given some bread for the wait. Called in for lunch here after reading Google reviews. We were not disappointed. The service was excellent friendly but knowledgeable. We asked for a local white wine as we are from California and New Zealand and after describing our palet were shown an excellent choice. The dishes themselves were superb. We were lucky the lunch service was not busy so managed to chat to the staff. Adds so much to the whole experience when you do get that interaction. Would we go again absolutely. We enjoyed our entire meal experience. From the selection of oils and breads to the dessert. You will not be disappointed.

What an incredible experience. By far some of the best dishes we had on the island. The staff is so warm and friendly, and not at all up-tight or cold. We felt welcome from the first moment, to the last. The staff was able to answer all our questions. I wish I got our waiters name, but he knew exactly how to treat us as guests, and kept us laughing all evening. As for the food... Excellent. Every course was so refined and tasted so good. Fresh, local produce and ingredients, treated with care and there was clearly thought in every dish. The set menu for €65 was MORE than worth the price. We would have happily paid more. The tuna appetizer with poppy seeds is one of the best dishes I have eaten in a long time. So tasty, so fresh! I would highly recommend this place, wether it's for a full 5 course meal, or just a quick main course and dessert! Thank you for an unforgettable evening. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Il Piccolo Borgo – Big Flavors in a Little Village! This isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a portal straight into the heart of Sardinia – no passport required! 🇮🇹🍷 The food? Absolutely delicious! Real local flavors that taste like Sardinian grandmas (who I sadly don’t have) are cooking in the back. Every dish is a masterpiece – not the kind you stare at in a gallery, the kind you devour with joy! The vibe? Cozy, warm, and full of charm – like visiting your Italian auntie, but without having to bring flowers. You’ll feel right at home from the moment you walk in. And now, the legend himself: Chef Mariano – a true culinary artist with the soul of a comedian and the kindness of a best friend. Super friendly, lightning-fast service, and an energy that makes the whole place shine. The dishes came out so fast, I started wondering if they were reading my mind. Every bite? Perfect. I recommend this place to everyone – hungry tourists, picky foodies, and anyone who just wants to feel truly welcome. At Il Piccolo Borgo, you don’t just eat. You celebrate life. 💃🍝✨

Pizza restaurant
I recently had the opportunity to visit Ristorante Pizzeria Mistral, a restaurant known for its delicious pizza and breathtaking views. Upon arrival, I was fortunate enough to secure a table spontaneously. The service team proved to be friendly and welcoming, enhancing the overall dining experience. The location of the restaurant provided an incredible sunset view that left me in awe. As for the food, their pizza was nothing short of perfection – an absolute delight for my taste buds!
Restaurant is very nice. Price/ quality is perfect. Location is great. Good sunset. Pizza is perfect!!!

Don't make my mistake and eat at a restaurant because it has a beautiful view. Usually, the food is not good because people eat there for the view. The parking "lot" is very small, as it fits only 2 cars, and getting out of it is extremely dangerous because you have to back out onto oncoming traffic in a curve! So, I would find parking somewhere else. The food is poor quality. We ordered fried calamari and cotoletta di pollo with French fries. The calamari were rubbery and fried in old oil, as they had changed color in the oil. They fried zucchini in the same oil, because they were brown like the calamari and nasty tasting. The cotoletta was hard, overcooked. Service was not existent. The server brought the food and we only saw him when we were ready to pay. Here is my advice: take the pictures from the restaurant terrace and run away...

DONT PARK AT THE SUPERMARKET NEXTDOOR, THE GATE CLOSED AT 20:30/21:00 Food was good, not great. Service was very nice. The restaurant luckily called a guy with the key of the gate. Otherwise we needed te take a cap for a 1 hour drive. Don’t recommend this city, very boring.

We managed to get spontaneously a table in this restaurant. The service team was friendly. The location and the sunset-view was amazing. The pizza was perfect. I can highly recommend!

Although horse filet is a dish that is easily overdone, the 'fettina di cavallo' was spot on! Tender and not overly seasoned, just the way I prefer it. My companion had a delicious pizza capricciosa. Modern interior, served in English, and very affordable.

Seafood restaurant
L'incantu, an Italian restaurant, exceeded expectations in every aspect. From the parking and location to the initial interaction with the receptionist, the staff provided superb service. The food was exceptionally delicious, and the sommelier demonstrated expertise in wine selection. The entire team exhibited a rare combination of relaxation and dedication towards their work, resulting in a memorable experience for guests who appreciate fine cuisine, wines, and hospitality. The dishes were fantastic - genuine and served with attentive care.
Ristorante L’Incantu is a gem in Castelsardo. Located at Bajaloglia Resort, this restaurant celebrates authenticity and seasonal produce. We were guests of the resort and tried the restaurant on our last evening. Here’s what stood out during our visit in the Restaurant L'incantu : Sabrina : Exceptional Service by Sabrina! Sabrina, our server, provided impeccable service. Her warm demeanor and attention to detail made our dining experience truly memorable. Her skills to fillet the fish, serving in a friendly open minded way was great. Bravo 👏 Owners, you have a pearl in your service! Vincenzo: Vincenzo, the sommelier, impressed us with his extensive knowledge of wines. He recommended the perfect pairing for our seafood dishes, enhancing our meal. Delicious 5-Course Menu Pesce: The culinary journey began with a delightful amuse-bouche, followed by different primi before the secondo consisting of a perfectly grilled sea bass, with tender aromatic flesh. The finale—a delicate panna cheesecake with a hint of citrus and Mirto, of course —left us craving more. Breathtaking Views: The restaurant offers stunning views, especially if you request a table with a view. It’s a sensory experience that flows into the sublime. Dog Toffee : Our dog Toffee was welcomed in the restaurant and he spend a relaxing time under the table due to a ballet like service! Overall, Ristorante L’Incantu is a must-visit for food enthusiasts seeking an authentic taste of Sardinia. Highly recommended! 🌟🦐🍷 Wonderful, we will be back!

I stayed at the hotel and dined at their restaurant for 5 days, and it was a fantastic experience overall. One thing I really appreciated was the complimentary starters usually a soup or small appetiser which added a thoughtful touch to each meal. Since I don't eat seafood, I noticed the starters were seafood-based at first, but by day 3, they served me a meat-based appetizer instead. It really felt like the staff paid attention to my preferences, which I truly appreciated. The servers were absolutely exceptional some of the best service I’ve ever experienced. They spoke English very well, were attentive without being intrusive, and clearly knew what they were doing. The food itself was exquisite. You can really taste the originality and authenticity in every dish. And to top it all off, the view from the restaurant was breathtaking. Highly recommend both the hotel and the restaurant!

Everything was above any expectations, starting from the parking, the location, first contact with the receptionist, and the list of super service and nice people goes further to the end. The food is above amazing, the sommelier knows his job, the wines are great. What else can I say? Ah, maybe there is: I am passionate about food wines and hospitality and I rarely see a team in which all the employees are themselves, relaxed but dedicated to their work. Maybe that’s why everything tastes so good and your time there as a guest is memorable.

What a wonderful experience. The food, service, views and drinks were fabulous. Beautifully presented dishes which were exquisite. We can't praise enough, if you're in the area and want a special treat, go and eat at L'Incantu. Thanks to all the team.

Zero customer service. The worst service imaginable. Rude, bad language and ignorant attitude. Bad language towards customers, they forget tourists can speak Italian or Sardinian… just horrible that my wife cried afterwards, which was a first. This restaurant typifies the old Sardinian attitude that because you have a restaurant then the food comes first and the customer is just a number.

There is no legal access to this site. There is a fence along the length of the road that keeps people out. You can still get a nice view from the street. We walked up the hill on the other side of the street and got a little better view. Don't miss the elephant rock just a short drive away as well.
Brad H — Google review
Nuraghe Paddàggiu, located along the SP90 road near Castelsardo in Sardinia, Italy, is a remarkable archaeological site from the Nuragic civilization, which flourished from the Bronze Age through the Roman era. This structure is situated on a hill, providing a panoramic view of its surroundings, a strategic choice typical of Nuragic builders. Originally, it was a complex fortress featuring a main tower with a distinctive "tholos" or false dome roof, constructed by progressively narrowing rings of stones. This central tower, approximately 11 meters in base diameter and standing about 8.5 meters tall today, contained two levels linked by a winding internal staircase. Adjacent to the main tower were two lateral towers and a bastion, enclosed by a thick outer wall that also encompassed a small village made up of stone huts topped with thatched roofs. Today, only the main tower survives intact, along with a 27-meter stretch of the surrounding wall and the base of one hut, providing insight into the site's original layout. The entrance corridor of the tower is notable for its transverse stone slabs forming a roof and includes a niche with an internal staircase on its left side that ascends to the tower’s summit. Although the wooden balcony once crowning the tower no longer exists, the preservation of the tholos roof and some architectural details like the entrance corridor niche make it a genuine testament to Nuragic engineering and culture. Nuraghe Paddàggiu, meaning “haystack” in Sardinian, is closely linked to nearby prehistoric sites such as the Domus de Janas “dell’elefante,” illustrating the dense ancient heritage in this part of Sardinia. It stands less than a kilometer from this famous rock-cut tomb complex. While the site is most easily admired from the roadside given limited parking options, it remains a significant cultural landmark illustrating Sardinia’s prehistoric past. The discovery of numerous ceramic artifacts at Nuraghe Paddàggiu has been fundamental for establishing its age and understanding its function within the Nuragic civilization. This site offers a tangible connection to an ancient era when Sardinia was dotted with these monumental stone edifices, making it an essential destination for those interested in archaeology and the island’s deep historical roots. Though relatively modest in scale compared to some larger nuraghi, Nuraghe Paddàggiu stands out for its well-preserved central tower and the clarity with which it conveys the architectural sophistication of Sardinia’s Bronze Age inhabitants. Its scenic hilltop location further enhances the visitor experience, providing a glimpse into the strategic considerations of the Nuragic people and offering expansive views of the surrounding countryside.

(Translated by Google) While visiting the historic center of Castelsardo, we discovered this charming 14th-century church, which has two distinctive features: it has no façade and a side entrance. Built of limestone and trachyte, it served as a cathedral until the 16th century, before losing this title following the construction—and consecration—of the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate, located a little further down the valley, on the ridge leading to the sea. However, it became the seat of the Brotherhood of Santa Croce, guardians of the "Lunissanti." Composed of a single nave, the main altar in the apse houses an "Ecce Homo"—a sculpture of Christ—placed between two niches dedicated to other saints. There is also a statue of Saint Francis and the famous "Cristu Nieddu" (Black Christ) crucifix from the 14th century, made of juniper wood, blackened by time and carried in procession during natural disasters in Castelsardo.

This museum is very very cool. Obviously skip through all the bits on the weirdo bishop who lived there. Just get to the bits on witchcraft and the Spanish Inquisition. Truly terrifying. Seafood restaurant
La Schizzula di Satta Ignazio is a welcoming seafood restaurant in Castelsardo, known for its friendly service and delicious cuisine. The menu is straightforward and caters more towards tourists, offering a variety of delectable dishes. Customers can enjoy their meals either inside or outside, as the restaurant provides both options. There is a small €2.50 per person service charge applied to the bill.
In the crazy hot days last week we stopped here for dinner and cooled off a little in the narrow streets. Very pleasant and helpful waiter Nicoló. 5⭐️ for him. Take care boy and drive slowly 🛵🏍️We enjoy.👍

I should have known better to go to a place where they are asking you to sit down. I had the fried calamari. It was chewy, overcooked and gross. I couldn’t even eat much. I eventually had to even spit a piece out it was inedible. Go elsewhere. Update: what a nasty response! I would not support a business that responds like this. Other more friendly places to try in a sea of restaurants in Castelsardo.

We had a wonderful experience at this charming restaurant in the heart of Castelsardo. The setting is truly special, right on one of the picturesque alleys that makes the town so unique. The pasta was absolutely outstanding – full of flavor and perfectly cooked. Service was excellent as well: our waiter was attentive, friendly, and everything arrived very quickly. For dessert, we tried the tiramisu, and it was honestly the best I’ve ever had. Light, creamy, and perfectly balanced. Overall, an unforgettable dining experience that I highly recommend to anyone visiting Castelsardo!

Friendly service and good food. Sat outside and finished our meal and went inside for coffee because it started to rain. Not an overly complicated menu. More for tourists. There is a $2.50 euro service charge per person.

Food and wine was excellent, and we really liked the location and owners of this restaurant. Definitely our favorite restaurant in Castelsardo.
Lisa-mae V — Google review
Don’t use this place. The food was so so, waited over an hour for 2 plates of pasta, one which they got wrong. When questioning them they told us that they were very busy and we were lucky to get the food and were very angry towards us for questioning the lateness of the food. Which, as we’re vegetarian was basically pasta with tomatoes sauce. The sauce and the pasta wasn’t homemade.
Asif Q — Google review
The gnocchetti were good. But the tomatoes were tasteless and the industrial mozzarella was the worst and saddest thing I ever had in sardegna. However the personal was kind.

(Translated by Google) The restaurant has a very nice location on the street directly by the sea with a great view of the sea and the castle of Castelsardo. The staff is very nice. The fresh fish were brought to the table nicely decorated and you could choose which ones you wanted. There were cloth tablecloths and cloth napkins. The staff was dressed elegantly in black and white and was a bit posh. But we were still welcome in our beach/leisure clothing, which was very pleasant. Pleasant, subtle music was playing in the background. The menu had a good amount. The prices are mid-range, but absolutely OK for this good location. I had ordered my Diavolo pizza extra spicy, and was then brought delicious chili oil with which I could regulate the spiciness myself. Before that there was white and shepherd's bread. The bread bag was exchanged for a full one when it was almost empty. The pizza and fish were ready after half an hour and were very good. The fish was served very well and bone-free at a side table in front of us. €37 for 2 large drinks and 2 very good main meals, one of which was fresh fish, is a very good price-performance ratio for this exposed location.

Bed & breakfast
Restaurant
Bar Trattoria La Roccia dell'elefante is situated near the Elephant rock in Castelsardo. The double rooms with balconies are recently renovated and have a stylish ambiance, starting at 60 per night including breakfast. The staff is exceptional, and the decor is impressive. The breakfast offered is satisfying, though limited gluten-free options are available. Additionally, guests can enjoy a delightful cup of coffee every morning during their stay.
We had a lovely stay at this Place. We stayed there for 3 nights and enjoyed the fresh breakfast (unfortunately not a lot of gluten-free options) and a great cup of coffee every morning. The room was very clean and the people are friendly. There is not a lot to do in the street, but it is a short drive to Castelsardo. The room was a bit full with the crib but we made it work with 2 large suitcases. You will enjoy the large balcony!

Good quality of the food and service on the restaurant. However, the prices are for tourist, they charge us 10€ only for "coperto" being 2 adults an 2 smalls kids. They only give some bread for it. Very basic mix salad 13€ and small dish of pasta 15€.

Very decent place with a perfect service. Affordable prices both in the b&b and bar. For the quality of the service and the state of the room the price is very good. The only downside is the size of the room.

Once again Sardinia has done what Sardinia knows best if you are not a fish fan Find another island because i can guarantee that meat is not good to eat in Any restaurant not just this particular one, service was excellent the place is lovely yet my mix grill was terrible. P.S. everything is loaded with salt you can’t taste a single thing I have travelled a lot this island definitely loves to add salt to food if you don’t mind that than it’s perfect I personally wouldn’t advise anyone having a holiday in this place enjoy the videos on YouTube that will be the best experience you can have 🤪

Amazing place to spend the night, staff is very friendly and helpful, rooms are clean and location is good as well. Also the bar downstairs is a nice place to have a drink or eat something.

Little noisy if you have a room towards the street, air con centralised (not controllable). Staff friendly but a bit unorganised - nothing serious tho. Brekkie is ok. Stayed for two nights as it was a good hub for the region to explore

Sat in their lovely outdoor terrace (plagued by flies, but the alternative is sitting by the road). Food was variable. I had the seafood spaghetti, which was delicious. My friend wanted the fregola, but the waitress said it was for two people only, although this wasn’t marked on the menu and other dishes were. She took the grilled squid instead, which didn’t come with anything, so ordered fries on the side. The fries arrived (well after my pasta got to the table) and were already cooling and rubbery, and then she was told the squid would be a few more minutes. Not sure why kitchens in Sardinia seem to be like this, where people don’t end up eating together, and even don’t end up eating their own dishes of the same meal at the same time? Anyway, the squid was great, the fries were terrible. We risked dessert - admittedly Sardinia is not known for its desserts - and would not recommend. Would recommend as a restaurant, but just be careful what you choose. The fish on the next table looked pretty good too.
