Lookouts
Colline du Château, also known as Castle Hill, is a historic hilltop park in Nice that offers breathtaking views of the city and the sea. The climb up the stone steps to this hill is short but rewarding, with turquoise coasts and apricot-colored roofs spreading out before you as you ascend. From the summit, you can enjoy grand vistas of the Old Port with its yachts and sails, as well as distant views of the snow-dusted peaks of the Alps.
We reached the top by cart. The road itself is beautiful, the nature and remains that we saw prepared us for the view and the pigeons, wonderful, white ones. The view of the place is fantastic, and a large part of the park is left for children and adults to enjoy freely. A great place to spend the day. The view of the waterfall, from above, leaves an unusual impression. It may take a bit of sanding, but the experience is unforgettable.
Ana F — Google review
Wonderful place and totally worth the climb! Tip: go in the morning, the sun hits the hill on the other side. You will get better views and will avoid the crowds. Also, if you go in summer, it's way cooler!
Christie B — Google review
Coming here in the rain turned out to be an excellent idea — there were almost no people around, and the views were still amazing. A bunch of viewpoints overlooking the city and the sea, walking trails, waterfalls, parks… it feels like someone was playing a video game and packed everything into one place. A beautiful experience.
Filip P — Google review
The Colline du Château is also known as Castle Hill. It has several ideal lookouts / viewpoints from where you can see the best views of Nice. At the top there is even a terrace with a couple of benches, occasionally with a musician - there was a drummer when we were there. In addition to many scenic walks and viewpoints, there is also a waterfall, archeological ruins, playgrounds for children, and a cafe. It’s hard to miss seeing the Colline du Château from the famous Promenade d’Anglais and whether ascending either by steps on one side or a ramp on the other, it’s worth the effort. Spend an hour or the day as there are plenty of public restrooms and a couple of snack kiosks. Highly recommend!
Nanita — Google review
Stunning views as everyone else said. There are shaded areas with some lovely views where you can relax and enjoy the moment with a gentle breeze. Small tip: bring a water bottle with you since there are a couple of green water taps around. Otherwise, water costs 3 euros from the food place nearby.
Ege D — Google review
Amazing view point for Nice and a good day out for sure! There is a lift you can take to the top of the hill which definitely improves the accessibility. It is decently busy (but what else would you expect). Upon my visit there was 2 people I encountered who seemed to be a little pushy to get people to take pictures with their Doves in exchange for money.
Grace — Google review
Quaint little walk up through the narrow corridors bustling with bars and coffee shops, opening up into a scenic and natural path up towards the best birds eye view of Nice, passing by a natural waterfall. A great and easy thing to accomplish while visiting Nice, and a great photo opp.

Beautiful waterfall and beautiful view from top! There is elevator, you can go up with stroller + there is kids playground! 🙌🏻

The Modern and Contemporary Art Museum (MAMAC) is housed in a modern tower-like building and features avant-garde art from American and French artists. Visitors can explore the works of influential avant-garde artists such as Yves Klein and Niki de Saint Phalle, as well as classic pop art and new realism pieces from prominent American and European artists. The museum regularly hosts contemporary art exhibitions, including on its rooftop terrace, which offers sweeping views of the city.
This is a fantastic museum with lots to see. My ticket gave me access to the exhibits and permanent collections. It was beautifully curated with detailed - but not overwhelming - descriptions of each section. I went to several museums in Nice and I would highly recommend this one. Plus, the views of the city (from windows inside the building and also the circular roof terrace) are magnificent.
Amy — Google review
Great place to see modern art from not only France but all around the globe from different historical periods and movements and by different artists. Wonderfully structured and organized exhibitions on 4 floors. You can easily spend at least 2 hours contemplating all the art there.
Boris S — Google review
This museum is excellent, offering a plethora of things to see. I was utterly stunned by the Niki de Saint Phalle collection. Additionally, there is a terrace with a wonderful view of Nice, making it a great place to spend time after the exhibition. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind
Sofia N — Google review
The permanent collection is interesting with amongst others the blue work from Nice born artist Yves Klein The temporary exhibition with African art did not impress me much. Too much copy-paste from "western" artist. The top level is open, and the sections connected with bridges so you can walk around have good views of the city below. There is even a small garden there.
Seimen B — Google review
Nice museum, a lot of space to walk around. Unfortunately there could be a bit more art especially more modern art. Yves Klein is nice to look at. For a few euros more you can buy a museum pass to see all the other in Nice as well. That’s good.
Andrew M — Google review
Weird and wonderful art here. Interesting enough to spend 1-2 hours. Modern and creative ways of portraying political messages. Well worth coming if you like art, otherwise perhaps not worth 10€ per adult. Several floors here, so you can always skip the less exciting ones. A great view of Nice from the top platform.
Toby R — Google review
The staff is nice, but the museum is dirty and dusty, and it seems grungy. The coolest part is the roof or you can walk up and down these bridges to go all around the building and give you fantastic views. The place has great potential but it’s very tired, dirty and dusty. The Gardens looks like they might be under construction and there might be a plan to fix them up. I hope that’s true because it’s a space with incredible potential but right now it’s just ratty.
Nettie A — Google review
I highly recommend this contemporary art museum. It has a wide variety of exhibits, and the quality is quite good. It features renowned contemporary artists as well. I also strongly recommend visiting their rooftop, where you can enjoy the beautiful views of Nice.

Basilique Notre-Dame de l’Assomption, also known as Notre Dame de Nice, is a grand neo-Gothic church with imposing twin towers and vibrant stained glass. Located at the end of Saint-Jean-Medecin, it resembles a white-washed version of the famous Notre Dame in Paris. Despite its striking similarity to the Parisian landmark, this basilica was actually modeled after a monastery in Angers, France.
I stopped by the Basilique Notre-Dame de l’Assomption while walking through Nice—beautiful spot. The peaceful atmosphere inside really stood out, a quiet break from the busy city. Worth a quick visit.
Kungfu-pigeon — Google review
I visited the Basilique Notre-Dame de Nice and was captivated by its neo-Gothic architecture. The twin towers and the large rose window depicting the Assumption of Mary are particularly striking. Inside, the serene atmosphere and beautiful stained glass windows provided a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. It’s a remarkable landmark that showcases the rich history and architectural beauty of Nice.
Can M — Google review
The light show at the Basilique Notre-Dame de l'Assomption was absolutely spectacular. The interior lighting was breathtaking and enhanced the spiritual atmosphere beautifully. The combination of music and visual effects highlighted the basilica’s undeniable beauty, making it a truly memorable experience. The only drawback is that the entire narrative is presented in French, so for non-French speakers, it’s more of a visual and musical treat rather than a fully immersive storytelling experience. Still, the artistry and ambiance make it well worth attending.
Pratik S — Google review
This is variously called the Nice Cathedral / Basilica / Notre-Dame of Nice amongst other by locals and tourists alike. It's a nice neo-Gothic styled church near to Gare Thiers. It was purposefully built by the French after they acquired Nice from the Kingdom of Sardinia.
Debajyoti A — Google review
The Basilique Notre-Dame de l'Assomption was absolutely spectacular. The interior lighting was stunning and really added to the spiritual atmosphere. However, we visited in June, and it was incredibly hot—around 100°F (38°C). There were about 150 people inside, and with no air conditioning, it felt like a sauna or even a barbecue. At one point, I genuinely thought someone might pass out from the heat. The beauty of the basilica is undeniable, but they really need to install some form of climate control. It’s hard to appreciate such a magnificent place when you're drenched in sweat.
Noe C — Google review
Beautiful and peaceful cathedral. Definitely recommend a visit to take in the history and beauty of this amazing place.
Brett L — Google review
Standing tall at the end of the street in the center of town is this impressive Basilica. Impressive high domed ceilings and a beautiful place to get lost in your thoughts and stop and reflect. I always at these beautiful churches and the money and time that goes into building and then maintain them. Another stunning European Basilica to cross off our bucket list. The stained glass windows are beautiful when the sun shines through.

Nice Cathedral, also known as Cathedrale Sainte Reparate, is a stunning Baroque cathedral located in the heart of Old Town. Built in the late 17th century on the foundations of a parish church, it features a graceful Baroque style that blends seamlessly with its surroundings. The cathedral houses paintings, three organs, and an altar containing the remains of St. Reparata.
Already beatifull on the outside, but the inside of the cathedral is absolutely magnificent. Really nice design with gold touches everywhere you look. Definetly worth giving a visit. Just infront is a small square where you can have a lunch with a magnificent view

Nestled in the city center, the Nice Cathedral is a breathtaking masterpiece of architecture. Its detailed design and calm atmosphere create a serene escape from the lively streets outside. The cathedral’s magnificent exterior and impressive interior are captivating, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in history and culture. The quiet ambiance adds to the sense of peace, allowing visitors to truly appreciate its beauty and significance. An unforgettable landmark that enriches the city’s charm – highly recommended for a visit.

Cathedral design in baroque architectural style. Relic of Sainte-Reparate housed within. The interior is also decorated in the baroque style. The dome vault is huge & so is the pipe organ of the Cathedral. My wife & I went for service there on Mother's Day. Mass Service was listed as 9am, 1030am, noon, The 1030am service started at 11am! Service was late, but the ceremony was beautiful.😇 Worth visiting, the organ music alone made the service outstanding!🙏

One of the first things to do after having icecreams at Fenocchio is to enter this Baroque cathedral in Place Rossetti. Established in 1699 and elevated to the status of Basilica in 1949, it houses the relics of St. Reparate, a woman martyred in Palestine, whose remains were brought to Nice in 1060. With 10 highly decorated chapels and an 11th one for baptism, this place of worship will easily take you 30-40 mins to admire if not more. Beware that churches here close at 6 PM, so try to enter atleast an hour earlier to beat the late afternoon crowds.

Very nice old cathedral, right in the centre of the old city area. A major attraction to visit in Nice. Can spend 20-25 mins here.

I found Cathédrale Sainte-Réparate while exploring Old Nice, and it truly stopped me in my tracks. The Baroque interior is stunning golden details, calm light, and a deep sense of peace. It’s not large, but it’s full of soul and history. I’m glad I stepped inside.

Hiked up from old town Nice. It was quite a hike, but we made it in about an hour or so. Hiked down the other side to Villfranche. Ended up taking the train back to Nice.
John C — Google review
A beautiful park with wonderful views of the surrounding area and plenty of picnic tables and benches to eat at. There are also little offshoot trails that loop around the park that are nice to walk down. The bus stops near the picnic tables but far away from the fort / castle near the top so be prepared to walk if you take transit.
Evan S — Google review
A good hike to go to the Fort, people also bike up the hill. There is a gorgeous view.
D C — Google review
Well worth the short climb up to this park. You will be rewarded with views of the old town of Nice as well as the beachfront. The new town and the mountains beyond are present in the background. Lots of places to relax on the grass and several benches. There are about a dozen viewpoints including the panaroma right at the top. Take food and water with you if you need them.
Ken C — Google review
Lovely park to visit for a picnic, a good walk (fairly hilly), or to visit the fort (only external viewing available). You can drive right up to the top with free parking, or get the bus from Nice . Great views from the top of both Nice and Villefranche. The walk back down into Nice is scenic and very steep. Just a word of warning. The walk through the trees that is mapped in one of my pictures is very rough, rocky, and requires good footwear.
Mike M — Google review
Exquisite views and history available to experience anytime on this hilltop park. Besure to walk the Stairs and ally ways through old town to get a true appreciation of this mountain side village. Spectacular sweeping views of the coast and mountains allow you to see from the Surf to the Snow. Walk the Stone path and find the bay, the cove, top of the hill with waterfall below... enjoy the history.
Jared U — Google review
Walking to and around the park did not feel too exciting. I was probably most intrigued to see the fort, and disappointed that all you could see was the outside of that. But the views to the surrounding areas, as you might expect for where a fort has been built, are amazing. But I don't think I'd bother walking there from the centre of Nice again just for the view. But perhaps to see inside the fort if there was a chance.

If you're looking for a delightful dining experience in Nice, Restaurant Le Rossetti is the perfect spot to unwind under the sun while soaking in views of the stunning Cathedrale. This charming eatery offers a taste of local specialties like socca, freshly baked in a wood-burning oven, and the savory Pissaladiere—a delicious caramelized onion tart. Guests rave about the generous portions and friendly service that make every meal memorable.
A really nice restaurant in the heart of Nice city center, well decorated and positioned. where you can enjoy the view of the Place Rossetti from the outside tables. Service and vegetarian choice. They also have the famous socca and a wonderful truffle pizza ( the best in town )

We had the Daube Gnocchi which we came here specifically for. It was delicious, beef was very tender and the gnocchi was cooked to perfection. Very friendly service. Plenty of atmosphere just of the busy square where it’s located. Very reasonably priced too compared to many of the other restaurants in the area.

We went for a late dinner and ordered the tuna nicoise and a pizza. The nicoise had no eggs and didn’t look like pictures here. The pizza was rubbish and looked like rolled with a rolling pin. The service was weird as it felt like the staff were standing around waiting for us to leave. Would not go again.

Chez Rene Socca is an old-school cafe located in Old Town that specializes in flat-breads made of chickpea flour, known as socca. The place is always bustling with locals and French speakers lining up to grab a plate of this local street food. Despite the chaos, the service is quick and the prices are affordable. You can enjoy your socca at sidewalk seats or take it for a late-night snack while strolling around the city.
Two of us had all these! And they are amazing! The socca, fish, chicken, they are all very tasty. They have a policy where you have to order a drink if you want to have a seat. We were standing eating and it was not bad at all. Strongly recommended.
Hooi ( — Google review
Decent place for affordable food. I liked the socca, but the pan bagnat was rather bland (it’s really big, however). The service was very friendly even when the place got super busy. Card payments are accepted for purchases of €10 or more. Must order drinks to dine in.
Eki R — Google review
Stopped by for drinks and had a great, relaxed time. The place wasn’t too busy, which made it easy to get served and enjoy the atmosphere. The drinks were affordable, and overall it’s a nice spot to unwind, especially if you’re looking for something low-key.
Ruben A — Google review
We went to this place to eat the most hyped French snack socca And we realised that’s similar like our own “Indian cheela” It was just made with chickpea flour, water and oil. No added salt or vegetables how we have in India. Overall a great place to visit and enjoy.
Ankur V — Google review
joined a long queue at saturday 1pm and had to wait over 30 minutes for food. slightly overhyped, food was very oily. we really liked the aubergine and the stuffed vegetables. the sardine was quite fishy, and socca tasted burnt.
Aly — Google review
Sadly, we didn’t have a good experience here. The food was nothing special and tasted overly oily, without much flavor. The service was awful—a man came around to take drink orders, but he only reached our table near the end of our meal. The atmosphere was also unpleasant, with pigeons flying overhead and landing on tables. We had much better experiences at other restaurants in Nice.
André J — Google review
Great place to try Socca when in Nice. You have to queue up at the counters to order. The queue goes round the corner past two counters. If you sit inside you have to order a drink (table service). A bit confusing for the first time visitor, but still worth a visit.
Ryan W — Google review
I have been going there since I was a little kid. It’ll never get boring and the waiting line will be longer each time! What started as a little hole in a wall takes now a full corner. Enjoy Socca in situ or take away, if you decide to eat it there please accompany it with a glass of local wine preferably rosé and don’t forget to add lots of pepper, and brag you ate Socca like a local! How to know it was good?? Cooked on the edges and olive oil moist in the center. Bon appétit!!

The kitchen, led by Thi-Hieu Nguyen, offers seasonal delights such as bibimbap, wontons, and focaccia during the day. Meanwhile, sommelier Renaud Chateaugiron curates a natural wine selection to complement the dishes.

One of the best restaurants in Nice. The menu is always super tasty and new dishes are introduced regularly. The owners are very sweet and service minded. It’s a great place for lunch and dinner and watching the city.
Fanny C — Google review
I feel like this place had great potential. The server was kind of rude and didn’t think I understood French when he talked about my lady and I to another table. Secondly, I live near a large Vietnamese community and have come to know the flavors well and the food that was put in front of me didn’t live up to what it ought to be. I’m a chef and would normally never dog another chef, especially a female one cause I love y’all but I think all of the dishes need major work. Especially that pulled pork sandwich.

Amazing experience from start to finish! The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the drinks were great. Also… the view is unmatched! Perfect spot for a golden hour/sunset dinner. I had an absolutely amazing experience here. I was traveling Solo in Nice and was looking for some fun experiences to make and treat myself. Even though I came without a reservation, the staff did their all to accommodate me. They then told me that a table might be free after circa 30min so they seated me in the drinks area. There I enjoyed a really nice Mocktail and the stunning view. When I got seated for dinner I ordered this amazing Cheeseburger and I don’t think you can perfect it more than it was. The chef knows what they’re doing! I stayed until the late evening but no one rushed me and I could enjoy my time as much as I wanted to. In general everyone was just so kind and I could tell they were making an effort so that each guest had a good time. I recommend this place to everyone looking for a great and fancy dinner experience with atmosphere.

One of the best food experiences in Nice! The food was absolutely amazing and the servers are really nice. The weather wasn’t the best when food was about to arrive so they moved us in where we still had an amazing view on the sea of Nice. I highly recommend this place for all olives and olive oil lovers.

Wonderful food in an exceptional setting. As the name indicates it’s a terrace but it sits on the rooftop of Le Méridien hotel. We came here for a lunch a dinner and also for drinks. Each time was great.
Refcon — Google review
The only thing good about it was the view. We ordered the sea bass and cod. It was very bland and portion sizes for the prices were awfully tiny. The server never came by to check on us after we ordered. Do not recommend for dinner unless you are only looking for a good view.
Sarah R — Google review
Terrible service. I made a reservation to get drinks for my friends birthday. As soon as we were seated I told our waiter we were just getting drinks, ordered our drinks and enjoyed the view, until our waiter came over and asked for our food order. I told him we were just enjoying drinks, ready to order a second round of very expensive drinks (they were good hence the 2 stars for food) and our waiter made a scene yelling to his manager that we weren’t ordering dinner. The manager came over and told us we had to leave and “sit in the corner”. He told us we couldn’t sit there because we weren’t ordering dinner, although I made a reservation and no where did it indicate I couldn’t make a reservation for drinks? It made such a scene everyone in the restaurant was looking. We moved over to the corner just to be ignored and I had to go to the front to ask to pay our bill, after being rudely and loudly kicked out of our table. This place is so overpriced, not at all worth it and the service was horrible!

For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Musée du Palais Lascaris. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is an elegant early 20th-century villa featuring nine distinct gardens that offer stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. Situated in Cap Ferrat, it holds significant historical and cultural landmarks such as the Chapel of Saint Hospice and Villa La Fiorentina.
Absolutely magical! It’s every bit as beautiful as on pictures or even better. Wonderful place for a little morning-afternoon stroll - breathtaking views, beautiful gardens, tons of history and culture all in one place. We also visited the restaurant they have their and the food was also lovely (though nothing spectacular taste-wise).

This was the highlight of our entire trip, take a short bus ride from Beaulieu Sur Mer, it's worth loading Lignes Dazur as this can be used on both bus and trams in the area. Entry is up hill so I recommend comfortable shoes and clothing as there is quite a lot of walking to appreciate the villa and garden in full. Entry fee is 13 Euros per adult which is very reasonable considering there is no time limit and you can stroll round and appreciate the beautiful interior and exterior. They offer a guide device in several different languages, they do require a identification for these to be provided but it is very informative and provides detailed guides throughout each area which is numbered to ensure you are able to take in the history. Upstairs there is a short film about Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild. The gardens are beautiful, each have different themes and a wide range of unique plants, flowers, statues and photo perfect views.

It's location for a luxury villa cannot be battered. You have stunning views of two bays from this elevated position a hundred or so feet above the sea. The villa is beautifully built and well maintained with interesting gardens which are beautiful with huge numbers of plants, water features and colourful flowers. Even though the villa was only built in 1912 it feels due to the workmanship, especially the masonry carvings that it was built a hundred or so years earlier. It's not a particularly large residence (unlike Waddesdon Manor in England). This I understand was their 'winter residence' which I could quite happily live in! The sun is out, not a cloud in the sky, no breeze. It is truly a magical place

Beautiful gardens with a stunning villa. Very tranquil settings for various style gardens offering plenty of shade. Inside the villa the rooms are carefully displayed with lovely paintings and antique furniture. A must to visit , highly recommended.

An absolutely stunning villa—perfectly designed, full of emotions and history. Every detail, from the elegant interiors to the breathtaking gardens, is flawless. A true gem of the Riviera and an unforgettable experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Stunning villa with views of the sea from all sides. Definitely worth a visit if staying in Nice. Not the easiest to get to but Uber is available if needed. An absolutely scenic drive to get there. The interior is okay but it's really about the views from the windows and the garden. Just unreal and lots of opportunities for great photos.

Absolutely stunning. Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild is one of the most beautiful and memorable places to visit on the French Riviera. If you’re anywhere near Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, make the time to go. The villa was built in the early 1900s by Baroness Béatrice de Rothschild. It’s filled with antiques, artwork, and rare porcelain, but the real highlight is outside. The gardens are on another level. There are nine of them, each with a different theme. The French garden has a beautiful fountains. The gardens are serene and beautifully designed. Every turn feels like a new discovery. What makes it even more special is the view. On one side, you see the Bay of Villefranche. On the other, the Bay of Beaulieu. You feel surrounded by water and sky, with the gardens stretching out in front of you. The villa itself is very well preserved. You get a strong sense of the baroness’s personality and taste. The audio guide is included with admission and adds just the right amount of detail without feeling too long. Plan to spend at least an hour and a half here. There’s also a café if you want to stop for a drink or a light bite. If you’re driving, try to arrive early since parking is limited. You can also get here easily by bus or taxi from nearby towns like Nice or Monaco. Whether you’re into history, architecture, gardens, or just beautiful places, this is worth every minute.

This beautiful belle epoch villa belonged to the Rothschild family. The villa is still originally furnished. The second highlight besides the villa are the gardens: nine separate gardens focus on roses, cacti, japanese plants, or succulents. There is a tearoom and a restaurant on site. Stunning views of the coast.

I was absolutely amazed by this villa — I didn’t even have enough time to take everything in. There’s so much to see, every detail catches your eye. Everything is done with such taste, and it’s a timeless design — you could easily live in these interiors even today. I truly enjoyed my visit.

Amazing experience! The visitor is submerged into a fantasy of living like a Greek god, but with contemporary to the 20th century comforts. Allover very fine and stylish neogreek interior is decorated with the real museum collection of antiques. The views from every window are very picturesque and poetic. Beautiful heritage of a famous archaeologist Theodore Reinach is now accessible for any curious and enthusiastic visitor.

Fort du Mont Alban, located in Nice, France, is a well-preserved 16th-century military stronghold that offers stunning panoramic views of the sea and surrounding peaks. Although its interior is not open to the public, the fort's impressive French military architecture and historical significance make it a worthwhile visit.
The fort is closed on Sunday, but you can walk around the grounds and see the blinking light and cell phone tower that stands over Nice. There are nice views.

Stunning views both east and west. I recorde recommend walking from the Nice Port up to the fort and then down to Villefranche-sur-Mer. From there you can take the train back to N.
Patrik W — Google review

Isidora A — Google review
Superb octogonal fortress built at the top of the Mont Boron's hill 220 meters above sea level. It offers a superb panoramic view of the surroundings : the harbor of Villefranche-sur-Mer and the Italian borders on one side, the Bay of Nice and the Estérel on the other. In the middle of the 16th century, Nice was one of the essential points of the Savoy States Defense system in the face of Turkish invaders, allied with the French since 1543. The Rade de Villefranche-sur-Mer, because of its depth and sheltered situation, is the main commercial port of the region until the opening of the Port of Nice in the 18th century. It was also the Savoy War Port for four centuries. In 1557, the Fort du Mont-Alban was built on the orders of Emmanuel Philibert, Duke of Savoie. This massive work is designed as a complement to the fortresses of Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer, and to control their connection: north of Mont Boron, the Fort du Mont-Alban flanks the Citadel Saint-Elme and the Dars of Villefranche-sur-Mer built at the same time, and protects the west of the city.

The Musée du Palais Lascaris is a 17th-century Baroque palace located in the old city of Nice. Once the marital home of Peter of Ventimiglia and Eudoxia Lascaris, daughter of Byzantine emperor Theodore II Laskaris, it now stands as a museum open to the public. The palace features lavishly decorated rooms with frescoed ceilings and antique 17th-century furnishings. It also houses an impressive collection of antique musical instruments.
This is a lovely 17th century aristocrat’s town house, with lots of the original features still in place. Not the original furniture and fittings (typical French curation!) but a large quantity of antiques, paintings, and a collection of ancient instruments dotted around. You cannot really get an idea of what it was like in earlier centuries, but it is fantastic to walk around for an hour or so, with beautiful objects to admire, fabulously décor to marvel at. One of the best value visits in Nice - The spacious rooms are arranged on three floors, without a lift (stairs only). I rank this as one of the best value paid attractions in Nice, at only a handful of euros. Sometimes there are special exhibitions, obviously rather variable. Today we saw a temporary exhibition curated by Nice’s modern art museum, and it was great (but sadly about to close, so there’s not much point reviewing it here). But I have posted a couple of photos of fun installations in the exhibition, by an artist called Laurence Aëgerter, to give you some notion.

If you're in the Old Nice area and you need a short break from markets and cafes/restaurants, this Musée du Palais Lascaris is an easy escape to the past. It's not big so you can finish going through it in under an hour and tickets were under 10 euros so very affordable. Dive into the history of the aristocratic place if Counts Lascaris-Vintimille and its architecture is influenced by 17th century Genoese baroque style. Lots of instruments on display, written works, furniture and tapestries, busts in the hallways.
ChinLin P — Google review
Musée du Palais Lascaris is located in Nice’s historic center. It houses one of the largest musical instrument collections including rare pieces. The Palais used to belong to an aristocratic family that had links to old orders. The museum tells the history of the family as well. There are a few flights of stairs to be mindful of. Also if you do not read French, be on the lookout for large laminated descriptions of the informational plaques on the wall that are translated to English. Very informative. There was even a modern exhibition on the ground flood near the entrance related to water and pollution. Highly recommend

I stumbled upon this place by chance and was lucky to find out it was free entry for European Heritage Day! Such a fascinating historical site — filled with musical instruments, weapons, and engaging history videos. There was also a modern art exhibition inside, inspired by the blue sea. Absolutely beautiful and worth a visit! 🌊✨

Lovely and delicate old house with beautiful interiors and lots of collections. It might not be as grand as some other manors or palaces in Europe but you for sure can get that the owner was very rich back in their age.

If your time in Niza is short, avoid this so called museum. The upkeep of the property is negligible, there are some interesting displays of historical string instruments and a small maritime room but I wouldn’t call the time spent here a learning experience.

Restaurant
FISH BAR in Nice, France, is a charming spot that offers a delightful tapas menu showcasing the freshest seafood. The small plates are creatively prepared and served at street-side tables, creating an inviting dining experience. With prices ranging from 3.50 to 9 euros per dish, guests can savor succulent shrimp and perfectly grilled octopus among other flavorful options. For those seeking a comprehensive tasting experience, there's also a tasting menu for two priced at 45 euros.
This was a gem. It was our last night in Nice and near where we were staying in the old town. The service was great and we sat outside on the quaint city street with a nice breeze. We had a few of the small dishes, coconut breaded shrimp, swordfish ravioli,, octopus with hummus, and linguine with clams. The dishes were interesting, each with a different twist, like the lime mayonnaise with the shrimp. The owner was friendly and personable and we enjoyed talking with him. Great place!

We had the 6-course tasting menu and every bite was delicious. The portions were just right, the flavors so fresh, and the whole vibe felt cozy and family-run. We also had the tiramisu for dessert and it was so light and fluffy. Definitely one of those local spots that makes you fall in love with French food again.

We stumbled upon this lovely little restaurant and ended up having one of the best meals of our trip. The setting is intimate and charming, with soft lights and the buzz of conversation from nearby tables creating the perfect evening vibe. The food? Absolutely fantastic. Fresh oysters, juicy prawns, tender grilled octopus—each dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. Even the bread was amazing—crusty, warm, and perfect for dipping into olive oil and seafood juices. Every bite felt thoughtful and crafted with care. The wine paired perfectly, crisp and cool, and served with attention to detail. Speaking of which, the service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and effortlessly kind. You can tell the staff really enjoy what they do and take pride in making people feel welcome. This place has that rare combination of great food, atmosphere, and genuine hospitality. It’s more than just a meal—it’s the kind of experience you remember. Highly recommended.

Stumbled upon this quaint little tapas restaurant tucked away in an alley. The seafood tapas were amazing - the juicy coconut elephant prawns were our favourite. Brasserie du Col in Nizza is an exceptionally fantastic restaurant that stands out among the others. Despite my limited French proficiency, the waiter kindly went through all the dishes, including daily specials. He was overall friendly and accommodating.
A charming local brasserie. Great for a morning coffee and croissant or omelette. Offers a lovely dinner menu. Was very busy and popular both times we went. A very authentic meal and vibe when compared to the more commercial touristy restaurants down in the town. Friendly service too.

Extraordinary good. We’ve visited quite a few restaurants in Nizza, but Brasserie du Col topped them all easily. We don’t speak much French but the waiter took time to explain all the dishes including the daily ones. He was all in all friendly and helpful. The food is stunning, from the starter: fried zucchini flowers and tatar with truffle, to our main course, risotto with scallop and truffle and grilled octopus, finished of with a great dessert. I will definitely come back! Thanks for that culinary experience

Very good food, very good service. Prices are astonishingly low for South of France (maybe because of a busy road next to restaurant). Portions are big. Indoor seating recommended if you want to have peace and no noise. The pizza was great but nothing special, hamburger was exquisite with baked cheese crispy, sauce tasty and meat fresh. The tentacles of octopus were stunning in tate and sauce was delicious. Top it off with tiramisu and coffee. Love these kind of places. Truly a hidden gem

Mayssa Beach is a rooftop restaurant located in Villefranche-sur-Mer, just 20 minutes outside central Nice. The restaurant offers creative Mediterranean dishes with a focus on seafood, served on a terrace overlooking the harbor and the crystal clear Mediterranean water. The menu features a variety of fresh options, including whole fish prepared at your table. The setting is beautiful, providing amazing views of the bay and boats below.
I made a reservation for this restaurant for the first wave of dining in the evening. The rooftop views and surroundings were perfect for the backdrop of the meal. I started with a starter, and for the main dish I had some pasta. The staff were super attentive, prompt, friendly and knew their menu well. The plating was really well done and the pre drinks and wine were spot on. Observing other tables they also gave similar service and great dishes. The little details of locals eating there, the manager coming out and checking, and the table settings made the dining experience a good one. I would highly not hesitate to book again as it was an impressive meal and place to dine. Thank you!

The location is beautiful with a great view of the harbor and a side profile of the picturesque front of the town itself. I wish the rest of the experience matched. The food was overcooked and under seasoned leaving a bland set of plates for both the lamb and the seafood linguine. Our server was barely around except for taking our order and then tried to automatically give himself 20% as a tip after I had to pour our bottle of wine and water myself the whole night. It's cute for drinks but I'd recommend doing lunch or dinner at one of the restaurants in front of the town right by the water, it's just too expensive for what you get.

The Marc Chagall National Museum is a tribute to the works of the Russian-born French artist, showcasing his paintings and other artistic creations. The museum's architecture by Andre Hermant complements Chagall's use of color and light, with large windows illuminating lithographs, sculptures, and paintings. Visitors can explore Chagall's biblical and spiritual inspirations through free audio guides in what is the largest public collection of his works worldwide.
This national museum houses a permanent exhibit of Chagall's paintings, stained glass, and mosaics. The paintings are from his biblical cycle. A documentary film illustrates the creation of the four seasons mosaic. The museum is located in a quiet park, including a cafe and restaurant.

Nice’s museum opened by and dedicated to Marc Chagall - primarily consisting of his ‘biblical’ works, and those related to religious themes and tropes. Interesting to see this line of his work compared to some of his other more famous pieces. Not overly big, but interesting for any art lovers.

The Marc Chagall National Museum is located in a primarily residential neighbor situated on the hills of Nice. This museum was inaugurated while Chagall was still alive and it houses several of his paintings as well as explores his famous mosaics. There are tours available on a first come first serve basis. Guillemette, our tour guide, was extremely informative sharing insights into Chagall’s history, his collaborators, and his inspirations. We learned about the process of making mosaics too from creative inception to the actual works. What’s more, there is an outdoor cafe that’s serves sweet and savory, hot and cold snacks and beverages that is also worth checking out. Keep in mind, you will be asked to remove your water bottles and any food that you bring with you so best to avoid bringing them. Recommend bringing very small bag if any at all. Spent a delightful couple of hours at the Marc Chagall museum enjoying his art and the natural surroundings. Highly recommend

Visiting the Chagall Museum in Nice was an absolute delight. Tucked away in a quiet corner of the city, it feels like stepping into a peaceful world filled with color, imagination, and poetry. The moment you walk in, you’re surrounded by Chagall’s luminous blues and dreamlike scenes that seem to glow from within. What I loved most was how personal and intimate the museum feels — it’s not overwhelming, and you can really take your time with each painting. The biblical message series is breathtaking, and the stained-glass windows add a special light that changes the whole atmosphere. The staff were welcoming, and the small garden outside is perfect for sitting for a few minutes to let everything sink in. It’s one of those places that leaves you both calm and inspired

The Marc Chagall National Museum in Nice, France together with the Matisse Museum were my unexpected finds in a vacation that was just free flowing and no detailed itinerary. At first, I was apprehensive as it was my first time to visit a museum on my own and in another country even. However, I did not regret my decision to forego seeing Cannes in favour of the great works of Chagall and Matisse all in one day! The 75 or so Euros cost of Uber (Holiday Inn Hotel - Matisse Museum - Holiday Inn - Chagall Museum - Hotel) plus tickets in both museums was definitely worth it! The Chagall Museum was inaugurated on July 7, 1973, and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023. It houses a large number of artworks donated by Chagall, his wife, and his heirs to the State of France, including the 17 Biblical paintings inspired by the books of Genesis, Exodus and Songs. The museum is located in the Cimiez district with address Av. Dr Ménard, 06000 Nice, France. It stands on a vast plot of land donated by the city of Nice. The entrance to the museum is 10 euros and is opened from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM it closes on Tuesdays. I bought my ticket in the museum without hassle and entered immediately. #MarcChagallMuseum #MarcChagall #FrenchRiviera #museum

I don’t consider myself as a very artistic person and usually not sure about how to interpret modern art. But in this gallery I did enjoy simply looking at Chagall’s masterpieces and felt a beautiful soul, an innocent mind, and curious attitude toward the world.
Yulan Z — Google review
Sadly it's in need of upkeep but the art is still spectacular. The fountain around the outside mural is empty. And the museum closes for lunch. And the red room is posed off. You can only view it from it's entrance.
Marc L — Google review
It’s a wonderful museum that incorporates mosaics, paintings, drawings, books and more. There’s also a lecture theatre where they show a film about his life. Excellent, really worth watching. Look out for the amusing ending! The museum itself is in a wonderful setting, and the café is excellent, servicing a variety of Provençal and Italian dishes. We’d recommend planning a lunch visit! You won’t be disappointed.

Villa Masséna Musée is a lavish museum housed in a stunning villa on the Promenade des Anglais. The museum is dedicated to the Massena family, whose history intertwines with that of Nice, Napoleon, and France. Visitors can explore art, furnishings, and personal belongings of the family as well as a captivating collection of artifacts from Nice's history spanning from the 1800s to WWII.
Beautifully presented museum on the history of Nice, the decorative arts, and plenty of Napoleon memorabilia! The beautiful building is right on the Promenade (and it has good toilets too).
Andrew P — Google review
Really interesting museum with lots of early historic art scenes as Nice grew from a fishing and olives town into the city it is today. Lots of interesting Napoleon items as well. Well worth a visit to this cool interior museum especially on hot summer days
David B — Google review
Villa Masséna in Nice is a must! This museum is surrounded by a well kept garden that also has benches. Built in 1898, the villa became a museum some twenty plus years later. Now it showcases it architectural beauty on the ground floor - stately rooms that are beautifully decorated - and then provides a history of Nice and the Côte d’Azur on the upper floor. There are two entrances - one near the Promenade d’Anglais and another on the back side of the property. There is free WiFi and an online tour you can follow. Wonderful all around, inside and out. Highly recommend!
Nanita — Google review
This is a beautiful museum. The ground floor has an alcove, a library, larger-than-life portraits of prominent people, and a hall that runs a looping slide presentation about Nice and this building. Walking up the wonderful staircase, you will find the face mask of Napoleon at one end and the bicorne hat at the other. Several exhibits of Garibaldi and the proclamation of Nice's independence are in the enormous hallway. The rooms have a sizeable collection of statues and posters of carnivals from the city's olden days. When I visited, there was an awareness exhibition about the oceans on the uppermost floor. Outside the building is a beautiful garden with benches to relax. Total time taken: 45 mins.
Debajyoti A — Google review
The gardens are free, you don't need to pay. There are benches, shades, and tropical flowering plants. The manorhouse is very well maintained and quite grand, with three floors of exhibits. It's not handicap accessible, stairs only. The content of the museum is of local interest only. The design of the house is perhaps more impressive than its exhibits, with various paintings of napoleon, queen victoria, and garibaldi. It covers customs of the city e.g. food, songs, and folksy stuff. 10 euros per person, or 15 euros for all museums of the city -- it's about fair. It took us about an hour, without reading the descriptions.
Philippe — Google review
Beautiful villa that was commissioned by Victor Masséna, Prince of Essling and Duke of Rivoli, and grandson of one of Napoleon's famous generals. It was built around 1900 in a Neoclassical style with Belle Époque influences. The ground floor is still witness of that time. The first and second floor are dedicated to the history of Nice and the region with sometimes interesting items.
Seimen B — Google review
After years of visiting museums, you eventually realize most of them are pretty much the same – nothing particularly special about them. This museum is exactly that: nothing special. If it’s raining outside and you just need a place to hide from the weather, stop by. There’s about 40 minutes of content, give or take. Just be careful with the security staff — if you slightly move a curtain to check if it’s still raining, they’ll warn you not to touch anything. Also, I get that everything is in French and I respect that, but come on — this is a tourist city, at least give us descriptions in English as well. So I had to improvise and make up my own explanations, which honestly made the whole thing more entertaining than the actual exhibition. On the bright side, they do have a beautiful garden with free entry — and honestly, it’s a million times better than the museum itself. Overall, I left disappointed.

The splendid Museum of the History of the City of Nice: the ground floor boasts exceptionally rich interior architecture. The lush park overlooking the sea is also worth a visit.

Prom. des Anglais is a 7-km-long beachfront promenade in Nice, France, lined with palm trees and featuring a bike path. It has been a popular spot since the 18th century when English aristocrats sought refuge from winter weather. The promenade extends from the airport to Nice's old town and is home to many hotels and cafes. Visitors can enjoy seaside walks, known locally as 'the Prom,' while taking in the sea air and lively atmosphere of Nice.
Very beautiful, scenic and lively avenue along the coast with passengers walking around in numbers even at midnight. And the avenue is exceptionally bright, of course.

There’s nothing like witnessing the sunrise during a morning run along the promenade. Ending the run by dipping my feet in the sea and listening to the waves and birds is a truly wonderful way to begin the day. It's a perfect moment of peace and connection with nature!

Great views of the bay and the city. The promenade is apparently over 7 kilometers long and offers lovely views of the water and the city. You can also get a great view of planes taking off to land and coming in at Nice airport! With so much seating available it is a fantastic spot to park up with some takeaway food and watch the world go by. It can be especially pretty at sunset. If you are visiting Nice you will probably walk along here a bunch of times
Connor G — Google review
Wide, wonderful, paved walking path between the town and the sea. Sit in one of the famous blue chairs to watch the waves and the beach scene. It's an enjoyable stroll at any time of day.
Ron S — Google review
Nice is a very beautiful city. I could not have enough of it. The clear blue water and the buildings are just breathe taking. Even from the airplane I could see the blue color of the sea. This city should be seen on feet, walking around is the best to see its beauty. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the long beach. It was difficult to walk with my feet in the water because it was a stone beach not sand one.
Ban A — Google review
The Promenade des Anglais in Nice is pure magic under the Mediterranean sun. A place where the scent of flowers mixes with the salty sea breeze, creating an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and alive. Elegant people stroll gracefully, while athletic runners and cyclists glide by their energy blending perfectly with the sparkling blue of the sea. 🎽🌊 Street musicians fill the air with joyful rhythms, and from the nearby terraces drifts the mouthwatering aroma of seafood and Mediterranean cuisine. You can almost taste the freshness of the sea in every note and every breath. 🎶🦞 It’s not just a promenade — it’s a living spectacle, a celebration of life, elegance, and sunshine. Every moment here feels like a postcard from paradise. ☀️💙

Located just a street away from the bustling waterfront of Villefranche, Les Garçons is a family-run French bistro offering traditional French cuisine at affordable prices. The restaurant prides itself on its daily changing menu featuring meat and seafood dishes made with locally sourced produce. With a cozy interior and the option to sit outside and people-watch, it offers a great atmosphere for visitors to enjoy their meals.
Outstanding service, food, and ambience. Restaurant had a Cute patio tucked between the beautiful small streets. So cute with the hand written menu. Got the truffle scallop risotto and 7 hour beef. Both were incredible. Highly recommend for dinner!

Incredible food, beautiful atmosphere and attentive service. We got the shrimp risotto and 7hr slow cooked beef chuck for mains and both were incredible. Pavlova for desert was also a 10/10. If looking for a nice dinner location, I would absolutely recommend.

The food is legitimately top notch, the service is amazing, and the vibes are great. Delicious menu (they can English menu online). Many places that offer English menu’s are tourist traps. This is not one. The service was friendly and excellent. The ambiance for diner was so perfect. Overall a great experience and a place I highly recommend. We got the octopus which was delicious. Even the free olives and bread we were given were delicious. The scallop risotto and duck breast was also great. Finished our meal with a chocolate lava cake. Overall great experience.

WOW. We found ourselves in Villefranche-sur-Mer, hungry, and based on reviews wound up at Les Garçons. Can legitimately say this wound up being one of our very favorite meals of the entire trip. The waitstaff was kind, patient, and attentive, the food was absolutely excellent --- best duck breast I've ever had, the scallops and risotto with truffles is out of this world. The lava cake (pictured here with a bite taken out of it) and the pavlova, both divine. The only thing I would suggest for an even better experience is to make a reservation, we wound up seated inside, still lovely, though the atmosphere on the patio was something to see.

Run don’t walk. This is the best restaurant the Rivera has to offer, anywhere. It is a hidden gem and the food is all we can talk about after going twice in three days. The octopus will blow your mind, the slow cooked beef is beyond insane but the stand outs are the fish in white butter sauce, and the pavlova. Leave room, you won’t regret it. I think we’ll be planning a trip back to SOF just to go back here.

I loved it !!!! The setting in the middle of villefranche s small streets the food and the service are all amazing. We had several dishes to share to be able to try as many as we can. All were amazing. I totally recommend it if you don’t mind not being by the water

Plage des Marinieres is a popular narrow beach in Villefranche-sur-Mer, offering calm and clear waters along with scenic views. It's the main sandy beach in the area and easily accessible by train, making it a favorite spot for tourists and locals alike. While the beach can get crowded, especially towards the western end, those seeking a more tranquil experience can head to the eastern side. The availability of parking nearby makes it convenient for visitors.
Came here in March. It was not busy as nit summer but good weather. Beach is sandy in most parts. Has toilets dotted across the beach. Clear blue waters. Beautiful
Joshua S — Google review
A beautiful sandy beach open for the public. The train station is immediately above the beach so there is a good and fast public transport to the location. There are also quite a few bars, restaurants and beach bars around, though there is not a market place in sight. We went there in the afternoon and the water was very dirty, maybe it was due to the sea currents, not sure.
Daniel — Google review
Quiet beach compared to the main sand strip in the area. Self cleaning toilet close by, two showers and huge parking area. Water was clean and calm, very relaxing with few people around.
Larissa V — Google review
Great beach with a mix of sand and pebbles, mostly public and refreshingly free from pushy sunbed vendors. It’s fairly small and can get crowded, but when we visited, there was plenty of space. The crystal-clear water is perfect for snorkeling - just watch out, as I did get nipped by a fish!
Robert B — Google review
Clear water, sandy beach. Some buffet around to take drinks and food. You can rent paddle to enjoy Villefranche. Perfect location in SoF
Berkay A — Google review
Heaven on earth! What i personally loved was that the beach is little small pepples and not sand, some may not like this but it was a life saver as we went for a walk around the town after having a beach day and we wernt covered in sand, the small pepples washed off so easily and they are not uncomfortable, we sunbathed and were swimming in the water every 15-20 minutes. The water is as clear as glass and so warm! Lots if little fish around it is perfect for snorkelling! Will definately visit again!

I wish I could give this place 100 stars. Food, staff, ambience - amazing. Tucked away off the stress with the cars creates a more peaceful and romantic atmosphere. The food is rustic French. Delicious and amazing for sharing. The staff was more than helpful and honest with their favorite picks. Something about that crazy salad was wickedly good, then the duck croquettes put me over the top. As a solo traveler I really appreciate the kindness this team showed me and will go down as one of my favorite meals in France to date. Merci!

We stumbled across this place for dinner in the small backstreets behind the main drag. It was perfect. Great wines, very affordable, and the tapas were massive and delicious. We had the duck croquettes; pulled pork; Bree cheese and roasted carrots - more than enough food for 2 people.

What a lovely evening. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating. The vibe was on point as well! My husband and i ordered 4 dishes and were surprised at how large the portions were. Highlights were the ceviche and the salad. So bright and wonderful! The pork was also delicious. The duck croquettes were nice, but we felt they weren’t needed. Would absolutely come back

La Pizza Cresci

Pizza restaurant
This pizza restaurant is located on the pedestrian street and has been serving up pizzas since 1956. It is always busy, no matter what day or time it is, due to the terrace full of people. However, for those who don't like the famous transalpine wood-fired pizza (they are few but they exist), La Pizza Cresci also offers a variety of pastas, meats and seafood dishes.
We had a simple dinner in Cresci one night and it was exactly what you would expect from a nice casual Italian dinner place. Super crowded, but we got seats almost immediately. Portions are pretty big though, so be prepared with a big appetite!

Just wow! Visiting at a later hour was so nice, the overall atmosphere was amazing with both kind staff and customers. Orange juice included and everything was served not only quickly but also with so much love from the amazing waiters! The pizza itself was good while fat and cheesy, but in my opinion included just too much onion. I would definitely recommend this place.
Alicja N — Google review
A busy little spot in the walking district, The friendly service, wood oven extremely fresh pizza, and fun atmosphere insure a great visit. We had the four cheese pizza and the margarita, my only suggestion is to be aware of the four cheese includes blue cheese, and is very very cheesy. The margarita is also a delicious alternative that is great to build with extra things. You can't go wrong if you are in the mood for thin and fresh pizza!

We’ve been to Pizza Cresci about 5 times, and usually everything was great. The Niçoise salad is one of my favorites, the pizza is really delicious, and they have a real oven which makes it special. Service was always good — until our last visit🤨 On August 21st, we were served by a waiter named Gianni, and it was a terrible experience. If you want to be treated with a bad attitude, spoken to in a rude and unfriendly tone, then ask for this waiter. Otherwise, the restaurant itself is worth visiting.

Made to order pizzas, the portions were MASSIVE! Myself & gf had pizza, salad & fries between us & still couldn’t finish, excellent wine, only issue is that it was very busy and the tables are very close to each other. Couldn’t have a private conversation. Food 10/10 but squashed in sat on top of each other. Very reasonably priced

Pizza but not only - you can also order french cuisine e.g onion soup, other. Very good house wine, I also liked pizza and dessert. Waiters are very fast and supportive.
Dariusz K — Google review
We had a wonderful outdoor dining experience. The pepperoni pizza here in France apparently puts the pepperoni underneath which makes it a lot less interesting to me since it ends up essentially being less cooked. So if you like pepperoni pizza then I would ask them to put on top. If you order a ham pizza apparently that does go on top. My wife had the gnocchi pasta dish which to me was pretty average tasting but a large portion. The pizza was overall pretty average. The win was the outdoor dining experience and the very helpful staff.
Brad T — Google review
Me and my friends come here any time we're back in Nice. It opens late and the pizza is always great. It is in a busy area so a good people watching spot and outside tables are popular. Great if you are looking for pizza and wine in particular. Note that anything you get is big, even if listed small (e.g. calamari and desert)!

Really amazing experience here, from service to food it was all excellent. For the price of €40 per deck chair, it seemed fair compared to others in the area. Adrian was our server on the beach and was incredibly helpful and professional. Get the lemon pasta and the octopus ! Will be returning

The beach club is in a beautiful location with stunning views – definitely a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery. However, the service left a lot to be desired. We waited around 30–40 minutes at the lunch table before anyone came to take our order, which was frustrating. That said, the food was really tasty and absolutely delicious, it definitely made up for the long wait. If the service improves, this place could be a true gem.

I have mixed feelings about this place. The food and drinks were enjoyable, and the atmosphere was pleasant. However, if you don’t have a reservation for a sunbed, don’t bother waiting—even if you see empty ones. Those spots stay unused all day, yet they won’t let you take them. It’s a nice spot for dining and drinks, but if you’re planning to enjoy the beach, make sure to book your sunbed in advance. All the staff were attentive and friendly—except for the lady at the entrance.

Our waiter made us feel so welcome and offered excellent recommendations. Prices are a bit high, but that’s to be expected when dining right on the beach. The food was very good, though not particularly memorable, except for the zucchini flower beignets which were absolutely amazing! We also tried the pizza sushi and beef carpaccio, both of which were enjoyable. Overall, a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a meal by the water

The staff are young and completely up themselves. The cost of a sun bed is 40€ per person per bed and the staff probably couldn’t afford it themselves and yet they treat some guests with disdain. I couldn’t care less as I am never going to see them again so my daughter and I enjoyed the sun beds, view & swim. Go and enjoy it. We took our own lunch and ate it outside the fence as it is ridiculously expensive (they hated us for that too). We did have a completely over priced cocktail as we wanted to treat ourselves.

I had one of the best days here! They have great service, the food tasted so good I had a hamburger with fries and some beer and they all tasted so good had some fresh lemon juice the waiters are kind and very sweet and really take care of you literally every 5 minutes they come ask if u need something! The lido is on the best part of the beach which has the clearest and the cleanest waters 4 stars cuz when you are by your own they won’t let you on the first range of the beds

Great atmosphere, delicious food and drinks! The service stood out as it was definitely better than most places in the area. The staff were friendly and attentive, regularly checking in and happy to help. The beach can get crowded, especially on weekends, but the beach club felt nicely separated from the chaos. It was surprisingly chill and relaxing. Would come back
MZD — Google review
Popped in with my husband to spend the day on the beach - we paid $40 each + $16 for towels, which was fair in comparison to other beach clubs in the area. Our gripe is with the low level of service received. We tried to order food at our bed and were told we had to go up to the restaurant.. while we sat at the restaurant we watched our server bringing food to other people on the beach. The server at the restaurant was extremely rude, slamming cups down on our table and forgetting parts of our order. We ordered $12 watermelon and when they forgot it, she asked “do you really want it?”. Insane. While this was happening we watched our server and two others serve an obviously wealthy white family like they were royalty. Even getting food before everyone else who ordered ahead of them. The beach is nice, but at the cost of being treated like dirt on their shoes it’s simply not worth it. Better off heading to Nice, as we received exemplary service the following day there (at Bocca Mar).

La Mère Germaine is a historic restaurant in Villefranche-sur-Mer, known for serving fresh seafood since 1938. The establishment has a rich history, attracting local and international clientele, including artists and film stars like Cocteau. With a terrace offering stunning views of the port, it's a popular spot for lunch or a romantic evening. The restaurant offers quality seafood dishes made from very fresh ingredients.
I would like to highly recommend this restaurant as one of the best dining options in the surroundings. They have a nice quayside area overlooking the yachts and the opposite shores of the bay. The staff do their very best here and care about their customers. We visited as a couple to have a birthday dinner and they went to town with preparation, recommendations, and birthday cake. The waiter suggested we should try the local vintage of rosé wine, which was provided to the visitors of 2025 Cannes Festival - it was refined and exquisite on the palate. The soup, catch of the day and desserts were amazing! This is definitely a must-visit and good value for money to have an unforgettable meal in town.

We stopped by this restaurant for lunch after spending time at the beach. We chose it based on positive reviews, and it did not disappoint. The staff were friendly, and the ability to dine while overlooking the sea was a significant advantage. Although seafood options were available, we opted for pasta for lunch. The vongole pasta had a delightful combination of noodles and sauce, though there was some noticeable grit from sand. The recommended shrimp curry featured a pleasant coconut aroma and a moderate spiciness, which paired excellently with the chutney. Thanks to the setting and the meal, we enjoyed a peaceful dining experience by the sea.

One word: outstanding. From the very beginning, everything was seamless — starting with the ease of the reservation system. The restaurant is located in a charming seaside town, and it beautifully embraces its historical roots. Being right by the water adds a magical touch, but the interior is just as captivating. The atmosphere inside is warm and full of character. The vintage photographs hanging on the walls are simply beautiful — and after reading about the restaurant’s history in the menu, seeing those photos brings the whole story to life. It’s like stepping into a living memory, where past and present come together in the most elegant way. The menu is thoughtful and well-curated, and you can tell great care goes into how each dish is prepared and cooked. The flavors were absolutely on point — every bite was memorable. The service was equally impressive: attentive, friendly, and professional from start to finish. I’ve been thinking hard, but I genuinely can’t find a single flaw. It was simply perfect in every way.

This is probably the “fanciest” restaurant in Villefranche and I was skeptical because we saved this for our last night in town and we’d been having fantastic dinners every night of week. Well, I was not disappointed. We were seated right on the water with a beautiful view, and we were immediately served an amuse-bouche of extremely high-quality hummus. Our server was very kind and pleasant, and walked us through the menu in great detail. For an appetizer we got a raw tuna in coconut milk and lime (don’t remember the name). This may sound weird, but we were STUNNED. This was a fantastic fusion of flavor that we could not stop ranting about. Would definitely recommend. For the main courses my wife got the Gambas sauvages (garlic and prawn risotto) which was similar to paella. This was fantastic and one of the best meals we got all week. I got the Bouillabaisse, which they are known for, and if you don’t know what it is then strap in and look it up. Was also amazing. It was a memorable experience and I truly enjoyed it. We then shared a grand marnier souffle, which admittedly, we both thought was a little overrated, though, that didn’t overshadow the amazing dinner we had. Overall a great experience and I would love to go again.
Matt N — Google review
Best restaurant in Villefranche sur Mer The lunch menus are reasonably priced for the quality of the dishes: 39 EUR and 63 EUR. It was again for us a memorable experience, sitting directly next to the sea in the port, facing a small fishing boat. A must-do if you are in Villefranche sur mer during lunchtime. I recommend the fish soup and the sea brean, as well as the homemade gnochis with beef ragout. The pavlova desert was divine.
Philippe B — Google review
One of the greatest restaurants on the Cote d'Azure to dine waterside watching the sunset while the boats gently move in this protected harbor. The waitstaff is attentive and professional with big personalities. The cuisine is excellent with lots of options including 3-course meal selections which we would highly recommend from the fish soup to meat/fish entree to the The grand array of dessert selections. Make reservations to sit directly on the waterfront.

Historic Walking Areas
Rue Obscure, also known as the Dark Street, is a fascinating historical site located in Villefranche Old Town. Dating back to 1260, this 130-meter-long passageway was initially part of the fortified wall and served as a protective route for soldiers. Over time, it became a storage space for wine and now offers visitors an intriguing walk beneath the village buildings and restaurants.
A charming and fascinating covered street, a shadowed dramatic passageway, short in length but still carrying long echoes of past lives. A place for living your own story.

Sure not much to see but a dark stone tunnel (with automatic lights, very nice job c/o town), but odd nonetheless. Worth a visit? Sure, it's at most 100m from everything else in old town. Combine with visit to old Eglise (very old). Why not?

It’s only 5 minutes away from the cruise port. You can walk around the area and have some gelato. The place itself was dark and not many people but I didn’t feel unsafe at all. It’s good to know that many movies were filmed here.

Art gallery

Nestled in the charming town of Villefranche-sur-Mer, ARTHOUSE11 stands out as a delightful art gallery that captures the essence of local creativity. This hidden gem is not just about admiring stunning artworks; it’s an experience enriched by engaging conversations and warm hospitality. Richard Lehman, the passionate curator behind ARTHOUSE11, has a knack for connecting visitors with both established international artists and emerging local talents.
Yes, this is a hidden gem art gallery. A wide range of art, from international masters through to local young talent, at different price points. The exhibitions and free booze attract global celebrities who pop up unannounced. That aside, it's much more than that. It acts as a hub for the local businesses of the old town. If you want to know anything, or find anyone in Villefranche, Richard will know. He's a local character who makes friends easily and, when not fighting off vile Instagram trolls who try to extort free stuff from him, he's helping other local businesses out carrying stock, helping arrange deliveries, just being useful! So yes, it's a hidden gem art gallery - but it's also the heart of the Old Town community. Drop in for a chat and, even if you aren't buying art, you'll get people genuinely trying to help you get the most out of your holiday.

Just knowing Richard made our stay in villefranche so much better. Highly recommend checking his store out.

This Art Gallery is a hidden treasure on a small street just one back from the seafront in Villefranche. Lots of unique contemporary artwork from different international and very talented local artists. The owners Rich and Jeanette are very welcoming; They are passionate and knowledgeable about their Art and are very happy to share stories of each Artist and indeed life in general and the 'best spots' to eat /drink in the local village. Rich and Jeanette especially like to support talented new Artists and give them a platform. This Gallery has a wonderful cool vibe and definitely worth a visit

My wife and I recently stopped by Arthouse11, and were thoroughly impressed! Upon entering the gallery, we sensed a warm and inviting energy. The pieces installed, while quirky and fun, were also thought provoking and meticulously curated. Rich, welcomed us and sparked with passion as he walked us through the stories behind each artist featured on the walls. The more you look, the more you will see! We cannot wait to return, and find what the future has in store for this wonderful gallery and its beautiful owners!

Chapelle Saint-Pierre "Cocteau" is a historical site in Villefranche-sur-Mer, built between 1554 and 1559 to defend the gulf. The exterior of the chapel blends seamlessly with the town's aesthetic, painted in warm tones and adorned with sea-themed decorations. However, its interior is where the true marvel lies.
Very special place, especially with kids, they loved it, very entertaining, although a bit pricy. Go there during the morning for quicker access.

Situated near the harbor, DRY Restaurant & Cocktail Bar offers a modern twist to traditional seafront bistros. This cozy beach bar provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a team that goes above and beyond to ensure an enjoyable experience. The menu features modern Mediterranean cuisine with gastronomic twists, including dishes like lobster spaghetti, octopus, gyoza, tuna tartare on sushi rice, tacos, and pulpo.
Stopped in on a Tuesday night for dinner for two. The restaurant has a cozy, inviting feel, with seating next to the water. The menu had several options that I wanted to try, we ended up ordering shrimp lollipops and the super bacon cheeseburger. The food came out relatively quickly after ordering. The lollipops were delicious, whatever breading they use is very good. The burger was also prepared quite nicely, the ingredients all tasted fresh and the burger held together the entire time instead of falling apart and getting messy. For dessert we really enjoyed the cookie, it came in a hot cast iron skillet with melting strawberry ice cream on top, delicious! Our server Daisy was really helpful to us and even gave some us cool local knowledge about the area. We were impressed with the service and food at the Dry Restaurant! Thanks for having us.

I was expecting typical beachside seafood and maybe a cocktail, but this restaurant was a whole culinary experience! The service was great and very friendly to English speakers. The location is beautiful and I was able to sit seaside with an amazing view. I ordered a cute, yummy cocktail. I got the Loup De Mer, which came with sea bass and this carrot purée. The presentation was beautiful! It had this yummy foam and sauce, as well as cute little spirals of carrot. After eating, I was excited to try one of the desserts at random. I picked the smoothie - it was so much more than a smoothie! It had chia seed in it, this blueberry caviar they made (it tastes like blueberry popping boba), and roasted coconut sprinkled on top. Altogether it was tart and sweet and I loved it. I was not expecting everything to be so fancy and delicious! I would definitely go there again and order the other dishes, drinks, and desserts. One tip is to ask for tap water- I didn’t and paid 8€ for bottled water.

Nils was the most amazing waiter. The food was fantastic. The Octopus was maybe the best I’ve ever had and I eat a lot of octopus! The atmosphere on the water is incredible. Their cocktails were sooooo good. This place is pricey but less than other places on the strip of water and worth it. So full!

Visited this place based on google reviews. We arrived 11:40 and wanted lunch. We took a spot next to the water where are lunch tables. Waitress (young blond girl) told us that we have to move to other table as lunch is only served starving 12 (at that time - 15 minutes later :))) I told her we will take a coffee before lunch, and if we can sit there in the meantime. We were told that we have to move, so we moved to the sofas, ordered coffee, snacks, and bottle od champagne. Later we asked for food (main dish) and were asked to move again to the hogh tables (by the water). It doesn’t make sense to me. Worked in industry before, so I wanted to mention for management to see this feedback. Enjoyed this place very much except this, and 100% recommend it to anyone (this is a positive review overall, just with a feedback I wanted to share).

Spent the day in Villefranche and was recommended this place from a shop owner in the old town. It did not disappoint, the waiters were very friendly and attentive to us, and had a kid friendly atmosphere. The burgers were superb and steak was mouth watering, we alap enjoyed happy hour and stayed for dinner due to the service. Would recommend visiting here, we also hear the rooftop bar is a lot of fun at night.

Amazing amazing experience. I shared the salmon and shrimp pasta as well as the octopus salad. Amazing. Could not recommend either enough. I love that the salad was meat heavy and the potatoes were just so complimentary. The octopus was grilled to perfection - the glaze was perfect. Salmon tasted so fresh! And the sauce was just done perfectly. Atmosphere was amazing, the views are perfect by the water and the choice of music they play is such a vibe! The bread was stale. And no butter was provided. Could improve on that.

Good location, tables next to the water very nice to sit at. Service was prompt, and correct. We ordered the calzone, pizza trestavere, gnocchi and chicken milanese. Had a brilliant lunch on a ridiculously hot day in August. Waiter was very friendly, accomodating (we moved from outside table to inside seating due to extreme heat). The waiter also afforded me the time to order my meal in broken French, commending my efforts. Hands down, this was the best pasta fruits de mer dish I’ve ever had! So fresh u could taste the sea and it came out quickly with a friendly smile. Great service, great views of the bay and nice atmosphere. Would definitely return and recommend.

Very rude waiter. I wanted to order lunch but the person I was with didn’t want lunch yet, just a beer. Apparently this was not allowed - both people had to eat - so we left. She also sent away a group of 4 because they wanted to bring two tables a bit closer together. There are many other lovely restaurants nearby with friendly staff happy to serve you.

Bad experience! Just rude, as we all didn’t want to eat. Challenged if we could sit near the water. Then challenged due to us all not eating. The waiter had to check if it’s ok if we all do not eat. Basics in life, having manners. I very occasionally leave a review but felt like this place needed a poor review. Travelling as a family and daily teach to have manners.

We ate here as a group. My friend was served RAW chicken in her salad which she pointed out to multiple servers. When it came to paying the bill, they tried to charge her for the RAW chicken on the basis she had eaten some of it and claimed that she enjoyed eating the RAW chicken. Many of the staff were extremely rude and verbally abused my friends. The way the owner shouted at my friend (a customer), I would not like to see how she speaks to staff. To top it off, a pigeon flew out of the kitchen.

I don’t often leave reviews but felt compelled to leave one today! Villa Franca is under new ownership and is an incredible new addition to the neighborhood, just two weeks old and already raising the standard. The food bursts with flavour, especially the bone marrow, which was so good we’re coming back for seconds before we leave. Every dish was delicious, made with fresh, local ingredients you can truly taste and appreciate—something that really sets this place apart. The wine list was excellent, and the owner was welcoming, knowledgeable, and attentive. Compliments to the chef for such thoughtful, flavour-packed cooking. Don’t leave without trying the chocolate mousse—absolutely fantastic.

The staff and owner were lovely and made our experience so amazing! The restaurant is in such a cute little spot. The food was amazing and the wine was delicious, I highly recommended dining here!!!

This was our best meal in France, without a doubt. The food was fresh and delicious (bone marrow, burrata with tomatoes and peaches, entrecôte, crispy chicken, straciatella, etc) and so much care was put into each dish. Our waiter and the owner, who we chatted with, were friendly and welcoming. It was wonderful to step away from the pizza and brasseries we have been going to and expand our kids’ palettes!

This has been our best meal in France so far. The food was outstanding .. the entrecôte and the crispy chicken were perfect as were the salads and devilled eggs! We sat outside and it was busy with people walking by, but this added to the experience. The service was amazing and the owner, Chris , was wonderful to us, as was the server. Chris even texted us later to suggest a restaurant for the next part of our travel, when we leave Villefranche! We will definitely be back if we return to Villefranche!

We had the Carpaccio de crevettes, poulet croustillant, and l’Anchoïade de Fred – all very tasty and nicely presented. The wine was excellent, and the service friendly and attentive. Relaxed atmosphere. Would be happy to come back.
