Neringa in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Neringa, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Neringa stretches along Lithuania’s Curonian Spit, a narrow sand peninsula famed for its towering dunes, pine forests and long, sandy beaches on both the lagoon and Baltic Sea sides. The area is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site, with well-marked walking and cycling paths linking resort towns like Nida, Juodkrantė, Preila and Pervalka. Visitors come for peaceful nature, birdwatching and wide-open coastal scenery rather than big-city nightlife, plus cultural sights such as the Thomas Mann Museum and traditional fishermen’s cottages. Access is via a short ferry ride from Klaipėda, adding to its “edge-of-the-world” feel.
With favorites like Parnidis Educational Track, Juodasis kalnas, viesbutis, Lotas, and Pastogė, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like monai and Bliūdas so you can get the best taste of Neringa while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Located at the northernmost tip of the Curonian Spit in Klaipeda County, Lithuania, the Lithuanian Sea Museum offers a modest yet captivating maritime experience. Visitors can explore historical exhibits and aquariums showcasing a variety of marine life, including brightly-colored fish and intriguing crustaceans. The museum's dolphinarium presents entertaining shows featuring Black Sea bottlenose dolphins, Baltic seals, and Steller sea lions.
There's a lot of cool stuff to check out at this museum. The interactive exhibits are really fun, and they're great for kids and adults alike. Don't expect to see a ton of animals, though—it's not a zoo. But the aquariums are really nice, especially the tunnel with all the big sturgeons. You can start at the museum, then leave to see the dolphin show, and come back after. Just let them know at the gates and they'll give you a stamp on your hand.
Laimonas G — Google review
I have to admit, given the hype, I was somewhat disappointed by the sea life expositions. I am no expert, so my impression might be wrong, but the seals, penguins and pelicans outside did not seem like having a good time and the spaces they have seemed rather dull. :/ The interior of the main building is quite pretty, the coral, shells and crustaceans exposition is very cool but I expected more live fishes in the later part. Some of the fish expositions were static figurines, a big part of the aquaria was river life which is still cool and I don't mind but it is a sea museum after all, the grand finale was the tunnel which even for me as an adult that's never seen one before was just alright but quite short and only filled with sturgeons. However, I didn't use it but I appreciate the amount of interactive stuff for children, I would have a blast if I was twenty years younger. The exterior spaces of the former fortress are also interesting to walk around. :) On the other hand, I enjoyed the naval expositions very much. Those I think are more targeted towards adults and children might get a bit bored, even though there still are some interactive features. These naval expositions are full of interesting items and information and I can sincerely recommend that part. There's also a small exhibition about noise pollution in the sea and Lithuanian military sea divers. Overall, I am bit conflicted. I will probably not visit again unless I have children of a suitable age with me but I also don't necessarily want to discourage anyone. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Outside of the museum, there are also ships that are visitable for free, the biggest one houses a small exposition. Those I would recommend either way.

One word: Awesome! A must-visit while you're in Klaipėda. Take a short ferry ride from the Old Ferry Terminal to Smiltynė — the museum is just a 15-minute walk from there. The Marine Museum and Aquarium are both fantastic, and with separate tickets, you can also enjoy the impressive Dolphin Show. A great half-day trip that’s fun, educational, and memorable. Highly recommended!
Subhra K — Google review
Worth to visit. The dolphins and sea lion show was amazing. And I loved the message about sea pollution and how we can help to reduce it. Will definitely coming back! 💙💙
Tautvile P — Google review
Good museum, a fair bit of sea life, as well as ships and history exhibits.
Paulius S — Google review
Average, recommended for children. Wouldn't visit a second time.
Shoop D — Google review
The Lithuanian Sea Museum is absolutely amazing! The exhibits are beautifully presented, from marine life and aquariums to historical displays about ships and sea exploration. The dolphin and sea lion shows are a real highlight - fun, well-organized, and educational. The museum is clean, family-friendly, and easy to explore, with plenty of information in multiple languages. The location by the sea is stunning, and the ferry ride adds to the adventure. A must-visit for families, nature lovers, and anyone visiting Klaipeda!
Jana B — Google review
Interesting museum with lots of different sea stuff, mostly not alive or real but that's the point of a museum. There's also many real different fish in aquariums, very interesting! Penguins are the most cutest guys here, especially when you see them swimming underwater behind glass. We visited it on a sunny day, sky was beautifully blue and the atmosphere overall was super good!

Step into the whimsical wonderland of the Museum of Clocks in Klaipeda, where you'll be mesmerized by a variety of vintage timepieces and exhibits showcasing the history of watchmaking. Housed in a country villa dating back to 1820, this old-world museum offers a detailed look at the ingenuity behind timekeeping throughout the centuries.
If this kind of museum is interesting for you, it's definitely place to see. It was much more than just regular watches. This museum starts measuring the time from the time B C
Timo M — Google review
An exceptionally cozy place that we highly recommend visiting—both for guests of the city and for Klaipėda locals. The museum features many fascinating historical artifacts and cleverly arranged exhibitions, along with extremely helpful staff. We strongly recommend taking a guided tour—you’ll discover truly interesting facts about clocks and much more.

A very nice place to learn about the history of watches. There is no similar museum anywhere in Europe. I definitely recommend visiting.

The house has 9 rooms in total and different era/styles in different room telling you a story about evolution of measuring time. Can use tablet for prerecorded guiding. Great collection and friendly staff. It also houses some famous oil paintings from Ukraine for some time. Also dont miss cosy and wide backyard with some intresting stone work!

An amazing museum) What a wonderful trip to a world history of clocks! The museum features exhibits of clock and watches from the past to the present times. Here you can see the device with the help of which people around the world tried to measure the time. You start with the examples of clocks in the Ancient East tradition and head for the next exhibition where strange examples of clocks are shown. Some of these clock and watches look like a real masterpiece! The collection of clocks from European countries are really fantastic! Moreover, there are a nice space to spend time with your children in the inner courtyard. You should take a picture there. The best time for visiting the museum is May because of the magnificent views in the courtyard. Don't overlook this incredible museum!

Really enjoyed this museum. Great information, and had cards in english four items on display. We also had a little bonus as they had a separate room with some great paintings in it. Definitely would recommend checking it out.

Fantastic and unique museum that takes you through the history of clocks 🕰️ ⏰ Starting from ancient clocks that utilised the elements like solar (sun for sun dials), water, fire and sand. I was amazed to discover that Egyptians were the first to create the sun dial and water clocks. You’ll see mechanical clocks, stopwatches, table clocks, pocket watches and even beautifully decorated Baroque and Art Nouveau clocks. Highly recommend it to learn more about the history of clocks, it’s fascinating 👍🏽👍🏽 The staff are also very friendly and will always help u find the clocks in the tablet audio guide 👍🏽👍🏽

Really enjoyed this quirky, fabulous museum. Even the stained glass had references to time! Such a variety of clocks, from all over the world, telling the time in a myriad of ways. They are all well signed and displayed in such a beautiful building. Well worth a visit.

The Castle Museum in Klaipeda offers an immersive experience into the history of the city and its castle. It is located within two underground sections of the remaining structure, showcasing a variety of exhibits including medieval costumes, paintings, and photographs from different historical periods. Visitors can explore the development of Klaipeda through archaeological finds, documents, and ancient costumes on display. Additionally, art enthusiasts can also visit the Blacksmiths Museum and Clock Museum for insights into local craftsmanship.
So the museum is split into three distinct parts. The main building covers the time from the first settlement until the mid-18th century, if I remember correctly. The second part is from the mid-18th century until just about the beginning of WW2. The last part is from WW2 until its liberation. I can definitely recommend this museum, it has a lot of interactive media which will keep you entertained for hours. I also met the friendliest museum curator in the second exposition. Thank you so much for the awesome conversation.

There 3 different showings. The WW2 museum, a Davinci exhibition and the middle ages one. Each has it's own tickets. Kids or students get half price tickets which was nice. Not allot of artifacts, but a really good over view on the story of Klapedia. The big red castle was not open for viewings. Before going, look up the parking areas close to the castle.

Who are interested in history, will find plenty of stuff to browse through. Be aware that some spaces can have quite cold temperatures for the purpose of preserving the historic artifacts. Bring something warm to coat yourself in.

A museum is built on the remains of the Klepeida castle. There is a model of the old city. This is an archaeological museum, the research done is very thorol and professional. Presented on the subjects of history, daily life in ancient times, goods, spices, professions, details of clothing, law, church, wars and conquests. The exhibits and information are very clear and the way they are presented is fascinating. Most of the museum is translated into English. Some are shown inside a bunker and the atmosphere is special. The place is clean, service and pleasant staff. On The outside looks simple, the inside is fascinating, worth a visit, fair price. We spent two and a half hours with teenagers

Medieval Klaipėda was a small town. The ideas of the Reformation and the Renaissance gave a great impetus to the development of the city. The symbol of Renaissance Klaipėda is found in the castle from the 16th century. a gold ring with a jewel of a middle nobleman. The atmosphere of the townspeople's life and fashion are reflected in green glazed cobblestones, remains of shoes, household items, craftsman's work tools, coins, imported items. One of the most interesting exhibits is the 17th century. the layout of the second half of Klaipėda castle and city, created after analyzing archaeological, historical, cartographic, iconographic sources. The computer terminal installed in the castle museum allows visitors to independently obtain information on the history of Klaipėda.

If you are visiting Klaipeda this museum will give you a good understanding of the city's history, it's growth and importance through time. Audio guide is included and is very good. Watch the film projected onto the back wall of the second room first, then follow the audio trail. A good 3-4 hours could be spent here. Highly recommended. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Great experience.

Nature & Parks
Curonian Spit National Park is a stunning nature preserve in Lithuania, featuring forests and a long sandy seashore. The park boasts beautiful scenery including the rough Baltic Sea, lovely hills, evergreen forests, mysterious dunes, and breathtaking views. It's recommended to spend at least two hours exploring this grandeur and taking in the sights.
Absolutely gorgeous, most serene forest (natural reserve) we have been to😍🙏 There are a couple of small towns, a lot of affordable food options, a great asphalted road for cars and bikes through the whole strip. If you get a chance to visit, make sure to stay at least 3 days (longer the better), the nature here will entertain you.
Darja S — Google review
It has some nice spots, but going with a car is ridiculous. The ferry is 20€, and when you get to the split itself you’ll have to pay 50€ for the entrance. 50€ is too much for any national park, but that’s not even all. They’ll make you pay 5€ for trails. That’s right. You can’t see the Dead Dunes unless you pay extra. When i asked if 50€ wasn’t a lot of money already the lady said ”next year it may be 100€”. You’ll feel scammed at the end. So avoid the feeling and don’t go at all.
Jere L — Google review
Curonian Spit National Park encompasses the Lithuanian part of the Curonian Spit, along with the adjacent Baltic Sea and Curonian Lagoon. Established in 1991, the park covers an area of 264 km². Due to its landscape and shifting sand dunes, it has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Curonian Spit separates the Baltic Sea from the Curonian Lagoon. Neringa, Lithuania's most popular spa town, is located there. It is a small urban area, approximately 50 kilometers long, formed by the merger of four former fishing settlements: Juodkrante, Prevalka, Preili, and Nida. The entrance fee to the National Park is €50 per car. The round-trip ferry from Klaipėda to the Curonian Spit costs €23.
Janusz S — Google review
The place is gorgeous. We visited by car but if we had known beforehand that there’s 50 euro entrance free for cars in addition to ferry ticket, we would have planned differently. Also entering one of the main dunes is 5 euros. Kind of felt like a beautiful tourist trap. Next time I’d explore by bike maybe. Or maybe not. The bird colony hike made everything worth it. It felt like a scene from a Hitchcock movie. That was quite unusual.
Kristiana P — Google review
What a rip off. 1st you pay 23€ for ferry to island that is 3mins long, then upon arrivle you pay additional 50€ fee to enter with a car. If you wanna park somewhere around Nida that will cost you another 24€ for a day and any attraction to visit is additional fee of, for example 5€ per person fod Sand dunes. Deff nothing special about this park to cost that much. Go to any Croatian island for free and you will enjoy it much more then this. Joke

Nestled in the charming city of Klaipeda, Monai is a culinary gem that has been delighting diners since 1996. This polished restaurant offers an impressive selection of elevated dishes featuring premium meats, seafood, and poultry. Seasonal specialties add a delightful twist to the menu, making each visit unique. One standout item is their generously sized dumplings, which are served with savory accompaniments like bacon and pork rinds alongside a creamy sour milk sauce.
Everything was perfect! A truly great restaurant stands out not just for its food, but for the overall experience. Attentive service, consistency in quality and amazing atmosphere. Price meets expectations

The best restaurant in Klaipėda! I visited this place a few years ago and came back to see if it’s still as good—and it absolutely is! The food is made from seasonal ingredients, perfectly prepared, and full of flavor. Service was impeccable and warm, just like before. Highly recommended if you’re looking for quality dining in Klaipėda! 🌟

Gosh this was an absolute delight - if you are ever on Lithuanian seaside, restaurant Monai is a must-experience. From heavenly food to every detail giving aesthetic joys. And a stunning team that we instantly fell in love with ❤️ In old Lithuanian, “monai” means casting spells, magic tricks. And this absolutely felt like it. We were all in awe, the taste of everything was just beyond possible to describe, what an unforgettable time.
Kristina M — Google review
Visited in Sep 2025 Monai is undoubtedly one of the most popular restaurants in Klaipeda and also features in the Michelin Guide for the last two years. We had made a reservation and aid say reservations are recommended as this place is quite popular. The menu here is an a-la-carte menu but I think they can create a set menu for you if you ask them. We ordered one starter course (tuna tartare) and 3 mains (halibut fillet, octopus, beef fillet). The tuna tartare appetiser course was fantastic. Among the mains we ordered, the beef fillet was my favourite course. Also ordered a couple of desserts which were very nice too. For drinks, I just ordered a couple of drinks from their non-alcoholic menu. Service was very nice here and we were constantly attended to by the restaurant staff. Overall, I think a meal at Monai is a must do if you’re visiting Klaipeda.
Avijeet S — Google review
This restaurant visit started with promise but ended with a disappointment — mostly thanks to a waiter who seemed to think arrogance was part of the menu. The concept is actually fun: at the beginning, you choose how much “presence” you’d like from the staff, from low-key service to full-on storytelling about the food. We picked the short telling about the food option, imagining a charming little narrative with our meal. What we got instead was a card explaining what should have happened… but didn’t. When we asked the waiter to tell us about the dishes, he said (in flawless English) that he still needed time to “translate.” Translation: couldn’t be bothered. Knowing the menu is Hospitality — language skills clearly weren’t the problem, but attitude definitely was. The food? Decent. Not bad, but not nearly good enough to forgive the service. The cocktails, however, were genuinely good. P.S. The 10% tip we didn’t leave “Monai” found its way to the bartender at Faksas instead. She was everything the waiter wasn’t: professional, warm, and a pleasure to meet.
Jolanta K — Google review
Overrated and overpriced restaurant. It's not normal that tasting menu was not offered after 8pm, it was not mentionned when the réservation was made. Globally food is tasty and well cooked, some original Flavour. But price is too high, 34€ for an Octopus Dish. There is no amuse bouche between the Dishes (quite unusual for a Michelin recommanded restaurant). Again, why making a Dish with plenty of sauce and not offering any bread, the waitress doesn't even bring a spoon. Globally quite disappointed by the expérience, expected to spend more to taste but finally didn't even take the dessert.

Great restaurant with fabulous food. Where here for dinner, all the dishes were amazing. Starter - tuna tartar was very good, but main - beef, was fabulous, cooked exactly as I ordered. And the star of the evening pistachio desert...it was like cherry on the top of the evening. Great restaurant, amazing staff, calm and professional work of the kitchen (you can see how they prepare all dishes) definitely recommend. 👌🏼

The staff at Bliūdas were delightful. I opted for the vegan poke bowl, which was satisfactory but nothing extraordinary. The tofu lacked flavor and was both tasteless and deep-fried. It would be preferable to have an alternative option with falafel instead, along with the choice of a sauce on top to alleviate dryness (although I prefer this over excessive moisture). While I may consider trying it again, the price of 12 euros seems steep.
Just had the most delicious meal! 🥣 The bowl of fish and vegetables was perfectly balanced, fresh, and flavorful. The soup( Šaltibarsciai) simply fantastic—rich and heartwarming. If you’re a fan of wholesome, hearty food, this is a must-try!

They have one vegan dish which is very tasty and filling, perfect size for lunch, not too much and not too little. A bit pricey but considering the location that’s understandable. Overall very recommended since there are barely vegan options in Lithuania.

Meniu consists of sushi and poke bowls. The later is really original and interesting dish. Though the portion size is not very big and the bowl should be considered a snack rather than a full dish, it tasted really good and came at a rational price. The environment was cozy and staff was friendly. Really recommend to check this place out.

Restaurant
ALBA Bistro is not just an eatery situated in the center of Klaipeda's historical district. It represents a culinary movement that has transformed the Italian cuisine scene along Lithuania's coastal region, garnering highly positive evaluations from its patrons. This establishment offers more than just a meal; it presents an exceptional gastronomic encounter with excellent dishes and exceptional service.
Had a lovely experience in this restaurant. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and of a high quality. The portions were very generous and we couldn't finish 2 starters and 3 mains between the 3 of us as there was so much food. We went with veal for mains and calamari and bread platter for starters. The decor and atmosphere was very nice and relaxing. We don't have many places like this in Klaipėda, so I'm glad this is on offer now. Would gladly come back. Though I do think the prices are a bit high.

Without a doubt, the best quality food in Klaipėda. Everything is made with top ingredients and real care. The pizza was incredible — full of flavor with a perfect Neapolitan crust. Prices are a bit high but worth it. Definitely try the steak tartare, it might be the best steak tartare starter I’ve ever had.

I loved it! One of the best restaurant I’ve visited in Lithuania. The warmth of the staff really stood out their customer service is impeccable, and the food… just amazing, top quality. Day 2

Off the beaten path
For day 2, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Juodkrantė Colony of Grey Herons and Great Cormorants. Not quite as popular as Nida, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Theme park
Hill of Witches, located in Juodkrante, is a forested hill adorned with an array of intricately carved wooden sculptures depicting witches, devils, and characters from local folklore. Since 1979, Lithuanian artists have created this open-air sculpture gallery where visitors can interact with the artwork by sliding down a demon's tongue or sitting on a throne. The figures represent various characters from regional folklore and offer an opportunity for picturesque photo opportunities.
In this woodland park there are many artists' interpretations of characters found in local legend and folklore. This outdoor museum has been around for more than 40yr. and as a UNESCO World Heritage site is one of the most visited attractions in Lithuania.

Nice mile plus walk to see cool wood carvings made during the soviet era depicting witches and demons (and some dragons). It is apparently where the local wigans used party (for hundreds of years), i suspect with a few funny mushrooms.

Great little hike for everyone, not wheelchair accessible but not really strenuous. There are a few short uphill stretches, just have good shoes on. It’s in a forest so lots of shade. The art makes for great pictures. Don’t start at the bus stop; you should go through a few houses and souvenir shops before starting, and in the shops you can buy an explanatory book covering all the sculptures meanings. If you start the trail right at the bus stop, you are going backwards (not that that detracts from the experience!). Highly recommended! Free and open 24/7.

On the southern side of the small village of Juodkrantė lies the 42-metre-high Jonas Hill, better known as Witches' Hill (Lithuanian: Raganų kalnas). This hill is surrounded by legends, as it is said that not only people used to celebrate midsummer here, but also devils and witches used to party here. Inspired by such stories, in 1979, ranger Jonas Stanius organised a sculpture exhibition on the hill, which gave birth to Witches' Hill. Today, there are 80 sculptures (and the number is still growing) along the 1.2 km long walking trail. Along the wider, bright part of the trail, there are well-known Lithuanian fairy-tale figures, but where the trail becomes narrower and darker, witches and devils come out. A very pleasant and artistic walk!

A must visit while one the spitt, art and a nice stroll through the forest. You need an hour. Entrace is free and there is plenty of free parking nearby (across the street from the park, cca 100m)

Loved it! Totally serene forest with big beautiful trees, well groomed paths and wood carvings throughout the forest! It was an easy walk even for kids. I absolutely recommend visiting here specifically if you like the outdoors and unique art!!!
DeVo S — Google review
This short hike offers a pleasant mix of uphill and downhill trails, making it an enjoyable walk. One of the highlights is the thoughtful design by the park initiators, who have created numerous spots to sit and rest or pose for photos, including unique throne-like seats that add a whimsical touch to the visit. The carvings and sculptures scattered throughout the park are intriguing and add to the mystical atmosphere of the place. It's an excellent spot for a quick stop if you're traveling through the area, providing a lovely break from the usual tourist attractions. However, I would note that it might not be worth planning a trip solely for this attraction. Overall, it was a charming experience and well worth the visit if you find yourself nearby.

One of the most interesting places on the whole Curonian spit (apart from dunes). Unique birds that have killed a forest with their feces :)

First time in my life I have seen these birds. It was interesting to go to the seashore next to the nesting area - there are many birds as well and can be seen looking for food. Bit horror like view to see so many birds sitting on dead leafless trees.

A worth place to visit and see a disaster in nature, how cormorans destroy a beautiful forest. Please watch a movie "Acid forest" about this place. Nothing spectacular and impressive to see acid soil, disappearing old pines.

Parnidis educational track is the best programme for tourists who visit Nida or Curonian Spit for the first time) Are you ready to overcome obstacles? If your answer is yes, then go ahead. You need a few hours to explore this track. How many hours? It depends on a lead time, your route and the aim of the route, the weather, the way how you are dressed. It would be better to wear comfortable clothes and shoes. There are lots of footpaths and wooden ladders but you will go through the dunes, a great amount of sand. So it could be a little adventure and unforgettable experience. The scenery is absolutely marvelous! A rough sea, lovely hills, evergreen forest, fantastic dunes and breathtaking views! Must try Parnidis educational track)
Iryna P — Google review
The lady in the tourist office advised us to visit this site, and we were well-rewarded! Extremely interesting phenomenon of the moving sand dune, of such enormous size that the town of Nida had to be moved away to a new location, and the old one was covered. The abruptness of change of the vegetation, from the planted pine forests to stop the advance of the dune, to small shrubs to totally bare fine sand was very impressive. The climb up was a bit strenuous, but the boardwalk is well maintained. A unique experience, highly recommended.

The Thomas Mann Culture Centre, located in Neringa, Lithuania, is a captivating destination for literature enthusiasts and history aficionados. It is dedicated to the renowned German writer Thomas Mann, who resided in Neringa during his exile from Germany. The museum is housed in Mann's former summer residence and offers a unique portrayal of the Nobel Prize-winning author's life and work.
Very interesting small museum about the life of Thomas Mann. A must if you're visiting the Curonian Spit

Thomas Mann Culture Centre is a kind of visiting card of Nida) Located in a picturesque place this museum will pleasantly surprise you. There's no problem finding it when you're walking alongside Pamario gatve. The admirers of Thomas Mann's talent will enjoy Culture Centre so much. It is housed in one wooden two-storey building; small like all museums and sightseeing locations in Nida. On the other side, it doesn't seem provincial. Evaluate the unique concept of the museum - a combination of history, personal story and story of the Mann's family, modern design and the latest technology. There are nice exhibitions with animated elements and description in Lithuanian, English and German. Finally, you can go outside and enjoy the beautiful view of pine forest breathing a fresh sea air and smell of pine needles.

A wonderful surprise discovery. A beautiful natural setting for a very interesting cultural and historical story. Loved everything about it. How would I improve it? Encourage the lady at the reception to smile, be nicer and to proactively propose the audio guide which has a lot of informing in English, add the possibility to purchase actual books by Mann incl English. Otherwise- loved it. Plus coffee was delicious (Jura). A lot of connections to Switzerland too.

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Curonian Spit, a 98-km sandspit along the Baltic Sea, is a popular holiday destination known for its beaches and resort towns. The area offers scenic cycling routes through pine forests, medieval castles, and deserted beaches. Nida, famous for its amber jewelry and home to the iconic Parnidis dune, provides breathtaking views of the Neringa sands and the sea. This UNESCO World Heritage site is perfect for both relaxation and active leisure activities with pets.
Between Cranz (Russia) and Smiltynė (Lithuania) stretches over 98 km one of the most special nature reserves in Europe: the Curonian Spit. A spit is a long sand spit that (partially) blocks off a part of the sea, in this case the Curonian Lagoon is blocked off from the Baltic Sea. The Curonian Spit was formed in the 5th millennium BC, the narrow sand spit, the width varies from 380m to 3800 m, is mainly covered with pine trees. The area is a popular tourist destination, especially during the summer months, attractions include the artists' village of Nida, the Witches' Hill in Juodkrantė and the two dune areas. In order to protect nature, the Curonian Spit National Park was established in 1991. In 2000, the entire spit became a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and rightly so, because the Curonian Spit is definitely worth a trip!

Might be unique wonder of nature, but human touch (ferry service capacity from and to mainlaind) makes the experience of getting there uniquely painful and nightmarish. 5 hours(!!) waiting in car at the ferry terminal (back and forth) to have 2 hours in the Sea museum (as there was no time left for anything else). All thumbs down for (de)organized logistics here.
Gusts K — Google review
This is how I imagine heaven! Ideal place for a biking trip, as there are high-quality bike roads, plenty of cafes and restaurants, and many nice places to stop all along the peninsula. We took a ferry, then a trip by bus from Smiltyne to Nida, where we rented a bike and rode to Juodkrante (approx. 30 km). Visited Vecerkrugas dune, Preila, did some bird watching near Karvaiciai, then a short walk in Pervalka, a hike to Dead Dunes, spent some time at a beach near Juodkrante, and had a great dinner and a walk around Juodkrante, back to Smiltyne by bus, then ferry back to Klaipeda. Wonderful, relaxing experience!

This 40-foot sundial stands atop the Parnidis Dune, one of the scenic highlights of Curonian Spit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site shared by Lithuania and Russia. Built in 1995, the sundial was damaged by a hurricane a few years later and rebuilt in 2011. It accurately tells time by creating shadows on the steps, with notches for hours and half hours, as well as months, equinoxes, and solstices. March 20 marks the spring (or vernal) equinox in the Northern Hemisphere, meaning that for the next six months daylight hours will outlast nighttime darkness. When it's winter in the Northern Hemisphere, those of us above the equator are tilted away from the sun, giving us shorter days and longer nights. In summer, we're tilted toward the sun, but the equinox is right in between. It's the moment during Earth's annual revolution around the sun when its axis is neither tilting away nor tilting toward the sun, giving everyone on the planet an equal split of day and night. This phenomenon happens twice a year—in March and again in September. In the Southern Hemisphere, everything's flipped. There, it's the autumnal equinox today — and, yes, winter is coming.

46€ for the ferry 50€ entrance fee to the national park 5€/person for the dead dunes as the main attraction and only a tiny carpark Pretty bad roads All this makes the experience of this beautiful piece of earth pretty sour and not worth it

Was very disappointed, there where sign's all over the place saying keep off sand dunes before I got onto the beach then I walked onto the beach and there was no sand and only a puddle of water. I was ready to go the the beach and everything. I brought my beach chair and sunscreen and just wanted a nice peaceful day at the beach but there was no beach for me to be at.

Geologic Formations
The Dead Dunes, also known as the Nagliai nature reserve, are the tallest migrating dunes in Europe. These sandy hills, reaching heights of up to 60 meters, were formed by winds and sea currents. The dunes have a fascinating history of movement, with some traveling up to 15 meters per year between the 17th and 18th centuries. The area is now a protected nature reserve with delicate ecosystems.
Wow. I didn’t think I’d love this so much! There’s a small car park with coffee van on entry. Bonus! €5 entry and part way you’ll want to walk bare foot as it’s only dunes. Great views ans you can see how they hold back the sand.
Matthew D — Google review
The entry fee is 5 euros for adults (kids are free). The trail starts easy on a wooden path, but to reach the final view, you must walk a lot on sand up a dune. It's challenging hiking with small kids, but the views are amazing.
Aleksej K — Google review
The Dead Dunes is a must stop on your way to Nira. Landscape is truly unique and breathtaking. Absolute must see. One of the most beautiful beach landscapes I’ve seen - looks like a desert with very unique vegetation. The walk to the view on the bay side takes 15min but it’s well worth the time and effort. Very beautiful scenery and a good view at the end. There is small parking lot with a tiny kiosk with ice cream and coffee. There are temporary bathrooms. Tickets at entrance.
Andre A — Google review
Beautiful landscape, unfortunately just direct reachable by car. Or you go to the next city by bus and walk back to the dune for an hour and same on your tour back. Entrance is 5€ for adults and 2€ for children, students,... it's a bit much for just standing on a dune I think, but I guess it helps to reserve it.
Salome F — Google review
Amazing scenery, those dunes are the biggest I've seen in Baltics. There is a parking, also you need to pay 5 eur before entering the trail. It's open until 20.30, last entrance 19.30 in summer.
Viola B — Google review
Very interesting landscape and once you climb the path up the dunes you get to a point where you can see the sea behind and the lagoon in front. There is a boardwalk part of the way and most people walk barefoot once you get to the sand path. It is 5 euros or 2 for concessions but parking is free for 2 hours which is plenty of time to do the walk. There is a little coffee car on the car park and some portaloos if you are desperate. Lots of people were parked on the road as car park space is limited. It's a good way to spend a couple of hours but not wheelchair accessible after the boardwalk which takes you about half way.
ChrisG G — Google review
Nice but 5€ it’s overpriced. If you ask for such an amount, would be nice to offer some facilities like bigger parking, proper toilets in “entry area” and so on. The parking is small. The minibus was blocking the entrance to the parking. We had to park on the main road - Horrible

The Klaipeda State Music Theatre is conveniently located in the heart of Klaipeda, making it easily accessible from various points of interest. I was pleasantly surprised by Pamario takas, kavine, A. Zaksienes firma in Juodkrante. The food was excellent, particularly if you're into vegan options. The fish dishes were also delicious and had a local twist with pesto flavors. Despite the limited menu, the quality of the food was outstanding. I highly recommend this place if you're staying in Juodkrante. It's truly a hidden gem that exceeded my expectations.
Kajus the student waiter was just amazing, perfect English, menu knowledge and assistance was just outstanding! We have ate mussels which were fabulous and combination with wine was just a top! Definitely recommended place!

Unfortunately this used to be a lovely place in Juodkrantė! It has went down this time: the food came very long - mussels were cold, too little source with them, the salad with shrimps were not as good as used to be. Slow service, just one taking the order, and then asking to change tables, when we were eating already felt not so nice. Just coffee was good! It has children playground inside. Good with dogs. Hope will get better as used to be!

Great staff and nice outdoor area. The food is underwhelming, though. Tastes quite bland and is overpriced. Also, there is only one menu outside on the entrance, so pick your dish before getting seated, as there are no printed menus.

We stopped here after biking from Nida and before walking to the Hill of Witches - and we were immensely happy that we did! Our server was extremely kind and offered several suggestions when we were deciding between options. We started with a locally made pesto as an appetizer with some toasts, drinking some sea buckthorn tea. Our main course consisted of the eggplant stew and the lentil cakes - both extremely tasty. And don't miss Grandma's pickled vegetables (with a touch of honey) which were a great accompaniment to everything else we were having. A great meal for sure!

Suprised. Its great food, especially if you stay with vegan, which I’m not, yet could become one soon living here. The service and atmosphere at Juodasis kalnas, viesbutis, Lotas were pleasant. The tiramisu was exceptional, even for someone who doesn't typically enjoy desserts. The food was delicious with adequately sized portions suitable for a lunch on a warm summer day. While the restaurant is among the pricier options in the area, the quality of the dishes is commendable. Additionally, there was one gluten-free item on the menu.
Went to the restaurant. Food and prices were really good. Also dogs friendly place, gave water to the dog and since our dog is reactive a bit, staff was very considerate. As for food took desert and salad, portions were quite big and tasty.

Were there in the middle of october, dumplings which cost 14€ were good but the portion size and the price were far from matching, the 16,5€ burger which wasn’t very bad just with rock hard bacon and a side of really old fries which tasted and looked like questionable chips. One would think that a hotel perched on the Curonian Spit, blessed with natural beauty all around, might try—if only out of courtesy to its surroundings—to rise to the occasion. Alas, this establishment has chosen quite the opposite path. We stayed one night with friends, and it was one night too many. Our room was perched directly above the restaurant, which meant a soundtrack of clattering plates and muffled voices running late into the night and resuming at dawn. But noise, as it turned out, was the least of our worries. The true highlight of our stay was the staff, whose defining characteristic seemed to be a studied hostility. The receptionist—apparently also the proprietor—was a virtuoso of unpleasantness, shouting at us over a dog supplement fee. We had no objection to the principle of paying, but the fee itself varied mysteriously depending on whether one spoke English or Lithuanian, and, in a charmingly outdated twist, only cash was accepted. Credit cards, it seems, offend her sensibilities. The rooms themselves? Imagine the décor of a dreary roadside motel, subtract whatever comfort might remain, and you’ll have the general idea. The bedding was joyless, the atmosphere drab, the experience unwelcoming. The only thing luxurious here is the gall with which guests are treated. In short: if you wish to discover the one activity worth pursuing at this hotel, it is the simplest of all—keep walking.
Nicolas F — Google review
Rooms are good but restaurant service was disappointing. At first we've got a discount of 20 percent for the table, have ordered more food and drinks than we would have ordered without the discount and then the other morning staff asked us to give back the discount in cash. There was 12 of us, so the bill was quite big and the difference with and without the discount was quite big.
Ugnė L — Google review
The restaurant is expensive, I don't think most of their meals would be worth it. The šaltibarščiai and their signature potato pancakes were good and that's what I would reccomend to order here. Keep in mind the potato pancake portions are quite big, you get 3 pancakes, each about the size of your hand. You might also want to consider getting additional sour cream or other additions as the included amount of sour cream is not enough for all the pancakes personally.
Jonas S — Google review
Opinion about Restaurant (solely on the basis of prices and one dish): it is overpriced, potato pancakes are terrible (deep fried, extremely fat), "šaltibarščiai" 8€, "potato pancakes" 14€+ it indicates you have to take an obligatory side dish of 3-5€ to it (we did not take it, and they did not insist. We refused sour cream and requested just butter instead of it, so got it but were charged extra 1€. Funny).

The service and atmosphere were nice. Best tiramisu I have ever had and I’m not a desert person :) Food was tasty, portions not big, but well enough for a lunch on a hot summer day. Recently, I had the opportunity to visit a coffee shop called Pastogė. The food at this establishment is satisfying, particularly their chicken thighs which are delicious. The portions served here are quite generous. Additionally, the coffee shop offers a magnificent view that adds to the overall experience. The waiter named Karolina is not only knowledgeable but also provides excellent advice with a constant smile on her face. She truly brings positive emotions to the dining experience.
Few days ago I visited this place. The food is good especially chicken thights. Really big portions in here. The view is wonderful and the waiter Karolina is a good advicer and she is allways working with a smile. She bringed good emocions to me. I don't understand why this restaurant have only 3 stars and the half. But all in all I can say that I like this place. I will be back.

Went there for drinks during a sunny August afternoon. The hazelnut Latte was nice and refreshing, but the mango cocktail barely tasted like anything mango at all. The atmosphere is cozy and the prices are reasonable. 4/5 stars.

Reasonable price, good service, fine food and the best fish we ate in Nida - catfish. It was sooo tasty!

Beautiful setting close to the water. We were here during lunch hours on Monday and it wasn't busy, we got really good service. Food was pricey and just OK .. and the music was a lowlight.

Tapas bar
Restaurant
Invino is a must-visit gem in Nida, renowned for its stunning rooftop bar that offers breathtaking views. This vibrant spot boasts an impressive selection of wines from around the globe, alongside strong coffee, delightful cocktails, and traditional Lithuanian beer—making it an ideal destination for enjoying drinks with friends or family. The ambiance is inviting, especially on the spacious terrace accessible via a charming bridge where you can soak up the sun during the day or gaze at stars by night.
The wine, the food and the people. All together in one amazing place - magical. One waitress with blue eye and golden colour hairs was exceptional 🌹🏖🥘🍷

Great service! Great food. Nice and quiet place to have a dinner in Nida. Price for 6 tapas and 4-5 drinks was 75 EUR.

Not worth it, look elsewhere. Tried an assortment of different dishes. Food was barely ok, with one plate needing to be sent because of moldy bread in the dish. So clearly standards in the kitchen are not the highest. Service was friendly, but very clumsy and forgetful. We had to ask for our orders multiple times, some never arrived. Location is still lovely with beautiful views from the terrace. Bottom line: with steep menu prices, and all of the above, I’d look elsewhere.

Heard good things but couldn’t enter the establishment. On their website it was stated that they’re open but when we came around they were closed. Tried calling or getting more information somewhere but with no luck. I suppose they’re closed permanently but a little heads up would’ve been nice.

Nice view, if you ignore Soviet era building with crumbling walls. Good menu and quality of ingredients. Duck is the best dish. Prices definitely tourist level. Service is slooooooooooow. Takes forever to order and just as long to get your food. I should need 2 hours for tapas.

Came to this place because a friend recommended me. I asked the waiter what vegan gluten free choices they have. He just said “French fries”, then buckwheat porridge which originally comes with the meat and then said another porridge which contains barley and oats gluten grains. Anyways I picked French fries which tasted like any frozen potatoes deep fried in the oil. So sorry guys but if in 2019 you can’t make up any vegan gf options for the customers so I say no. And a drink menu is a must which this place doesn’t have. The view is cute but the view doesn’t feed me

Great ambiance. The terrace on the roof accessed though the bridge opens up vast space and lets you enjoy the morning sun or stars at night. Food is varried, exciting and delicious. Great choice of wine, refreshing gin and tonic, etc. Brings together a colorfull and friendly crowd. Highly recommended.
