Østerlars Church, located in Østerlars village on the island of Bornholm, Denmark, is a remarkable round church dating back to at least 1150. It is the largest of its kind on the island and was dedicated to St. Laurence. Originally built as a fortress with seven buttresses and upper-level shooting positions, it features a conical roof replacing the original flat top designed for battle purposes.
Really cool experience to see one of these round churches inside as well as outside. We entered the church and walked to the top. It’s very narrow and steep but still worth a visit if you walk carefully. It’s beautifully constructed. There is a shop nearby where you can enjoy a coffee or a light snack.
Kristina K — Google review
Probably a most seen place on Bornholm Island, very peaceful and rich in history. This is the most beautiful and well preserved round church which is still open for services. There is a small tower visitors can climb up to, that offers a nice view over the church garden.
Laura M — Google review
An amazing Bornholm round church. There is a small entrance fee, make sure you take a leaflet with more information on the church. There is a narrow staircase to the second floor and attic, which will only allow 1 person to go up or down. On the second floor there is some more information about the church, but unfortunately only in Danish. The attic gives you a view on how the roof is held together: amazing woodwork.
Vince L — Google review
30 DKK per person for adults is way too expensive for what you get. Granted, it is a nice church, but you basically only get to walk around in the tiny middle of the church. It would have been less onerous if they had opened up more of the church for visitors, but alas this is not the case.
Rasmus A — Google review
Beautiful round church, on of the 4 of Bornholm island. It's possible to go up to the first and second floors, and view the circular constructions built on top of each under, all covered by the wooden roof. The circular shape of the church is stunning, it's decorated in the center with frescoes from the 14th century. There are also 3 rune stones you can view.
Christine M — Google review
A magnificent Romanesque church from the 12th century, one of four such on the island. A perfectly preserved monument. An absolute "must see."
Krzysztof M — Google review
Very interesting architecture. Still an active chuech.

Miniature golf course
Theme park
BornPark Minigolf, located outside Gudhjem on Bornholm, offers a unique and exciting minigolf experience. The mini golf course is designed as a miniature version of the island, featuring its famous sights and natural attractions. Each hole represents a well-known place on Bornholm, such as Ekkodalen, Hammershus, Christianso, and Jons Kapel. The park is well-maintained with beautifully themed holes that provide a fun challenge for players.
Great fun in a beautiful environment. The 18 holes course is well designed and maintained. There were many people here but we did not have a problem to find a parking place. We did have a reservation and think it is a good idea to book in advance. Did not eat food here but was tempted as it looked very nice.

Step into the past at Bornholms Middelaldercenter, an authentic medieval environment featuring farm animals, farmhouses, a fortified manor, and a water mill. The center offers a fun and educational experience for the whole family, showcasing the tough life of both peasants and wealthy lords during the Medieval Ages. Visitors can explore the open-air museum on their own or join a guided tour while learning about this historical period through pocket guides provided by the museum.
This was amazing! To see the old houses and how they lived in the middel age was well made. The best part was the fortification where you can experine the great feast hall. They showed how they used old medival guns with black gunpowder and there is also the option to get some delicious sausages with bread over an open fire pit. This place is highly recommended for families with kids and for people with great interests in vikings and the middel age.
Christian P — Google review
What an amazing experience! We didn’t realize the entrance ticket is valid for a whole week — and it even includes different workshops you can join. Definitely a must-visit when you’re on Bornholm! 🏰
Lorand K — Google review
Definitely the best place to visit with kids! A lovingly curated medieval village with a whole lot of things to participate, such as archery or minting a real silver coin. The highlight is the firing of a real canon ;-)
Christian H — Google review
We did the guided tour at Hammerhus and the treasure hunt both in German. The guided tour was excellent, tailored by the guide to the mixed audience for adults and kids. Highly recommended. The treasure hunt was also great fun. It was incredibly well planned and we indeed visited alot of places we would not have seen otherwise. It is made in a way that it is fun for different age groups, so really a whole family adventure. The only negative I can say is that - even though we could combine it with many other activities over the week, it became a bit of stress to finish everything in time. So only recommend for active tourists. The center itself is located beautifully in nature and visiting indeed feels like time travel. The excellent and extremely friendly actors are definitely the highlight.

Fun place with Nice Nature surrounding the area. There are many activities for the kids. With ducks and sheep’s and sore fights. There are also tents selling items from the era. There is a beautiful lake and water path. Nice houses to see the old times how they lived. You have to buy tickets to get in.
Eman — Google review
The compound was fine, but lacking some medieval action. The food was a laugh and way overpriced and the marked was close to none existing. When we are out of corona-19, I am sure they will do way better entertainment/setup.

Seems like a nice museum but we only visited the store and restaurant. Food was OK but man, there were a lot of flies!
Peter C — Google review
We spent a whole day here. We really enjoyed the property; feeding the goats, pigs, horses, and cows was a lovely stroll. The farmhouse even offered delicious free tastings (jam, mustard, and bread and butter), and the rabbits were, of course, a hit with the kids. There was even a great hands-on activity and craft program for children—also free—and the garden is a great place to relax with a coffee, hot dog, or lentil dumpling. The shop offers great regional products for purchase. We would definitely come back!
Sille C — Google review
Amazing outdoor experience for the whole family! We didn't actually go inside the museum. We were too busy enjoying the animals across the street (I believe part of the museum). There were a few agricultural machines placed outside the museum. The animals we were attracted by were mostly goats and a few horses and some ducks. One needs to cross the street just opposite the museum. Those were all lovely and so pure enjoying life in their natural habitat. Free and memorable experience for big and small.

spent a lovely morning here with our toddler. the dahl made with local lentils is delicious. Staff accommodating and lovely. hit up the 10:30 feed of the goats, sheep, and horses. just enjoyed checking out the old machinery and the beautiful grounds. could have stayed longer but naptime cut our visit short.

Døndalen Vandfald

4.2
(718)
Scenic spot
Døndalen Vandfald, located on the scenic island of Bornholm, is Denmark's largest waterfall when there is water flowing. The waterfall can dry up during the summer if there has been a prolonged period without rain. Standing at around 20 meters high, it forms Denmark's tallest waterfall. Visitors can enjoy a lush green walk through the forest from the parking area to reach the waterfall.
Situated on the picturesque island of Bornholm, Døndalen offers more than just captivating waterfalls. This natural wonderland boasts a rich biodiversity, providing a habitat for diverse flora and fauna. Visitors can explore well-maintained hiking trails that lead to stunning viewpoints overlooking the surrounding landscape and forest. For those seeking a tranquil retreat, Døndalen is an ideal destination with its serene atmosphere and the soothing sound of cascading water. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast or someone in search of peaceful surroundings, Døndalen promises a memorable and fulfilling experience. Døndalen is particularly enchanting during the off-season when the waterfalls are often at their fullest. Enjoy a lovely walk through the forest, where you can admire special old trees imported from other parts of the world. Døndalen stands out as one of Denmark’s few ‘real’ waterfalls.
Martin T — Google review
This was beautiful! 😍 A frozen winter wonderland! There was a lot of water and the icicles were really cool. There were a few paths to take and there could have been a few more signs as it was harder to see amongst the snow. The toilets were also locked at this time of year which was disappointing for a full bladder! A beautiful area to explore!
Emily K — Google review
Lovely area full of nature, and absolutely full of wild garlic! The waterfall was calm during my visit, but it allowed us to get up close without it being crowded. We walked up from the parking and although the path was muddy, it was still walkable. This is an outdoor site, so accessibility depends on weather. That being said, it's important to note is that you have to duck under a fallen tree to get close to the fall, so take that into consideration if you have mobility issues.
Chantelle F — Google review
Being the biggest waterfall in Denmark doesn’t mean much on an international scale. But it is a very beautiful walk in the small gorge. If you average fit you should choose the path running close to and crossing the stream. If you are elderly you can choose the broad and easy route further from the stream. They both lead to the waterfall. In spring the water is more forceful. During summer the waterfall is less impressive. Nice way to spend an hour.
Peter G — Google review
Don't expect a waterfall like in Norway, but if you take the surroundings and the waterfall it's really nice and quite.
DA N — Google review
Nice Short hike through the woods. Paths are well maintained in a natural setting.
James L — Google review
The highlight of the visit to Døndalen. Its not the most impressive waterfall on the planet, but for Denmark it's really tall, and from the top you have a beautiful view of the forest. There's easy and free parking by the coastal road and it's well worth a stop to walk the path that can be done in about an hour.
Christian S — Google review
It’s a uphill walk to barely see the tiny water fall. If you don’t have any other activities try it out but I personally didn’t think it was worth going to because of the size of the water fall and the view point for it wasn’t clear. If you have seen water falls before you might have the same feeling as me. Unless there was another waterfall that I didn’t see. The picture is what we saw.

Nice staff and a cozy place to be. Pizza's took about 10 min from ordering to it being on the table. They were very nice and not greasy.
Hobo — Google review
Had to wait an hour for a pizza. Either they forgot it or they were baking it in the evening sun. Never nice to see two groups of people that came 10 minutes after you get their pizzas 10 minutes before you. The pizza itself was ok, nothing more. The pepperoni pizza is actually a salami pizza, so I also didn't get what I was expecting. Service was decent but a big draw back is the complete lack of communication and zero recognition or apology for the absurd wait. VeNOzia.

Guests rave about the delectable coffee and cakes that perfectly complement their meals. The friendly staff adds to the welcoming atmosphere, ensuring every visit feels special. While some diners have noted minor hiccups—like unexpected charges for tap water—the attentive service quickly resolves any concerns.
Excellent food, fresh buns and nicely pickled salads. Very delicious and fresh. I ordered a burger while my husband had a steak with eggs. The only thing a bit disappointing was they added 25 DKK for tap water which they removed when I expressed my shock! Not even iced water or filter water. Just regular tap water is never charged across Denmark. But thanks for removing it! We eat outside so much across Denmark but never have been asked money for tap water!

Island
Bornholm, a small Danish island located to the south of Sweden, offers a diverse range of attractions. Visitors can explore the ruins of a medieval castle and several museums. The island's landscape includes pristine white sand beaches, steep cliffs, and expansive rapeseed farms. Bornholm is particularly charming in April when nature awakens after winter, offering colorful Nordic sun rays and a connection between the sky and earth.
Oh my God, I so much enjoyed my stay on Bornholm Island! This place is truly a breathtaking destination for any traveler. Before my trip, I found an incredible travel guide on Amazon that covered everything I needed to know about this gem in Denmark. Riley Harper's guidebook was an absolute lifesaver, and I would recommend it to anyone planning a visit. Thanks to the detailed information, my experience on the island was unforgettable. In addition to majestic birds of prey, the zoo is home to various animals such as turtles, snakes, rabbits, goats, and even plate-sized spiders. The show is presented in both English and Danish and provides an up-close encounter with the animals.
What an amazing experience seeing these majestic birds. And you get the feeling that they are being very well cared for. If you have the budget to buy the event "gå tur med en rovfugl" I would very much recommend it getting to train 2 birds and hearing about them.

Lovely location with great enthusiastic team who like to present the different shows about birds, prehistoric issues and related animals. The complete package is made with love and together with sunshine it's informative entertainment ❣️

Really great show. The two falconers were amazing in their pleasant and witty show with the various birds. Despite the price of 165 dkk for adults and 95 dkk for kids it was well worth it.

Unique experience to have, a lot of different animals and shows. We were only one English speaking visitors and we got some short explanations as well. Birds and other animals are very well treated
Anna F — Google review
The Birds of Prey Show is very entertaining, despite the fact that I couldn’t understand 95% of what was said because I don’t know Danish! That’s both high praise, and a warning to non-Danish speakers. Only about 5% of the information spoken by the trainers is in English. One of the things that I enjoyed about the show was that almost every bird had been trained to do something that showcases their unique qualities, like a bird call, or landing on audience members’ heads, or swooping down and grasping prey, etc. This is good showmanship and makes the show memorable. A big downside is that the location is not easily accessible by bus, and on the day I checked, the bus was scheduled to arrive AFTER the show ended. Being a foreign visitor with no car, I had to rent a bicycle and pedal my way to the show Another downside is that the shows’ schedule is not available on their website. Luckily, I had planned to arrive on the early side so I didn’t miss it. But I did miss the Reptile Show, which was just before the Birds Show. Had I known about the Reptile Show, I would have tried to arrive even earlier.

5 Stars for the entertainment, the staff (Ida and Christian) was super good to tell about the birds in a way that make it inspiring to look at - Both the inside and outside show was amazing. I will recommend the show for anyone there visit Bornholm!

So stunning to see those majestic animals so close! The staff is super friendly and do their best to entertain visitors, teach them and take care of the animals. When weather is fine, the show is separated in two pieces: one in hall, one at the outside. Everyone was blown away!

Ekkodalen, also known as Echo Valley, is Bornholm's largest fissure valley, stretching 12 km through the Almindingen forest. The area offers hiking trails and stunning rock walls with echoing properties. Visitors can shout messages into the valley and hear them echoed back.
The echo is almost the least of the attraction. It's Bornholm's largest rift valley and has it all. A quiet beech forest on the low side, a meadow in the middle and wild old oaks on the cliff side. Walk the length of the valley for a very soothing experience filled with bird song.

The most delicious ice cream you will ever try. I tried the chocolate, vanilla and strawberry they were very very good. I think this ice cream is changing my mind from any other ice cream I have ever had. You can also buy tickets and go inside the farm where they have children activities and animal petting area.

Best place in the world 💜 With most delicious Ice creams too. I tried lots and lots of Ice creams everywhere in the world. And these one DEFINITELY one of the best ever ❤️ Cheese platter was also really good. But mostly I loved the vibe. Goats are so friendly when you approaches them calmly. I was hugging and petting them and they hugged me back. We also got super lucky to see 9 days old piglets. Cutest little babies 💖💖 Thank you for doing what you are doing 🙏🥰

Nice place and great opportunity for children to get used to various big and small animals. Products of goat milk tast great, especially the ice cream! Our son could participate in milking the goats. Unfortunately quite expensive, therefore 4 instead of 5 stars.

The restaurant has a very cosy and friendly atmosphere with a fantastic couple running the place. The food was very delicious made mostly from regional ingredients. We had the danish wood lunch, the daily fish dish, the fantastic omelette and a big salad. Don’t miss out on this great place when you visit Bornholm!
Jo F — Google review
Unfortunately didn’t meet my expectations which actually were lowered due to new ownership of the restaurant. 1. You had to order in the bar 2. You had to pay in advance 3. Two of the ingredients (one of them being the main ingredient; the fish) were degraded to cheaper versions, while the price remained the same All in all more like a café, but the food was good and so was the location!

I wish I could give - stars. We came at around 7.45 as this is not an unusual dinner time… and we were told by one guy that they were closing the kitchen, but we could order before they did. So we were about to sit down (with a child too), and then another quite rude guy comes up (in front of everyone) and tells us it’s closed and we aren’t allowed to eat…… at 7.45 pm. We walk out, and he literally in front of us turns the closed sign and switches the light off in the doorway, even when the restaurant was full inside.. Impolite, and didn’t really make us feel good at all…. This is not how you should run a restaurant!! I guess we should be eating at 5 pm in Bornholm.
Patricia K — Google review
We are Australian and visited this restaurant with Danish friends. It was the worst dining experience of our lives, avoid at all costs!!! The waiter/owner? Was abrupt and rude and the food awful. Our Danish friends on complaining about dried up meat had their plates snatched from them with a declaration ‘you can get something from the buffet instead’ This was declined as the buffet food looked awful. On suggesting to the waiter/owner this was not the way to treat guests he exploded telling us al to F... Off from his restaurant and that he didn’t want our money. Maybe he was having a bad day but no excuse. Eat here at your peril. John (Australia)

Didn't get a chance to eat there, though I wanted to. I was late for the bus at about 5 p.m - 2 hours to the next. So decided to go eat at rest. Gudhjem Bakke. The rest. was half empty, so sat down at a free table. Along came the waiter, telling me, that that table was reserved. I argued there wasn't a reserved-sign. He replied, that any table without a sign was reserved - in a tone as though I was supposed to know that. I asked where else I could sit. He answered in a very arrogant tone: "They are all reserved!" ....... I will definitely never bother that restaurant again - they seem to consider even potential costumers a nuisance.

Bornholms Kunstmuseum is a contemporary building that offers stunning views of the sea and fields, with Christianso Island visible in good weather. The museum exhibits works by renowned artists from the Bornholm School such as Olaf Rude, Oluf Host, and Edvard Weie who painted during the first half of the 20th century. Visitors can take a scenic walk past highland cows to reach the charming Helligdomsklipperne rock formations by the sea.
Very lovely museum with a very good structure and even accessible for wheel chairs. The exhibition was really nice and the area around is very beautiful (I went during summer). Scenic spot
Døndalen, situated on Bornholm, a Danish island, is a picturesque narrow valley renowned for its impressive waterfall, the largest in Denmark. The best time to visit is after heavy rainfall when the waterfall is at its most magnificent. Accessible via provincial roads, finding parking can be challenging. Sturdy walking shoes are recommended due to the area's stairs and bridges. The wild forest features towering old trees and an abundance of wild garlic.
Lovely nature walk with interesting trees and a waterfall. Takes only 10-15 minutes to reach the waterfall.

Great place to go for a short walk. It will take you about 30 minutes to get to the end of the trail where a small waterfall awaits you. You can walk close to the stream where it is less easy to hike or you can take the larger trail further up the hill.

A really wonderful piece of wild forest with tall old trees and a complete cover of wild garlic. The forest is left to grow wild and you can sense it. There are paths on both sides of the creek and plenty to see. There's easy and free parking by the coastal road, and along with the waterfall it's well worth a stop and the walk that can be done in about an hour.

Nature Park Bornholm, located west of Gudhjem, offers a thrilling experience for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy activities such as high rope climbing courses suitable for all ages, an 18-hole soccer golf course, and an 18-hole disc golf course set in a beautiful oak forest. Additionally, the park features a fun forest labyrinth and a section specifically designed for younger children. The staff is friendly and provides necessary instructions before embarking on the adventures.
Awesome climbing park in the middle of the forrest. The staff was nice and friendly and gave us all the instructions that we needed before venturing out on our own. It’s quite challenging but everyone enjoyed it and there is also a section for younger, less experienced kids that they can do. Bring your own sandwiches as the small kiosk only had a small selection of sandwiches and candy. I highly recommend this climbing park.

This course is a real challenge. The course design includes all types of throws and different lengths of lanes. The scenery is very impressive and some of the holes have elevation changes which makes the course really good. It is recommended to get the course map at the information desk so you can find all the tee pads. (Translated by Google) Fantastic climbing park. Fun and challenges are well distributed, so that as a family you can follow along from the ground for most of it. Incredibly skilled instructor, who gave good advice and dared to guide differently based on age and expected strength, without anyone being embarrassed or feeling singled out, that requires great empathy, thank you Silas. 100 teenagers also came on the day, and despite that we had a good day, even though it was impossible to reach all the courses within the 4 hours you pay for. If we were to advise the place, it would be to close it for small bookings when such a large event is booked in. However, we hope to be able to try the rest of the courses another time. (Original) Fantastisk klatrepark.

Brasserie
Café Klint is a popular spot with a great location and view, making it quite crowded. The food is generally good, but some drinks like the ice tea and homemade lemonade are diluted and not recommended. They offer options for vegetarians as well. Despite being in a touristy area, the prices are reasonable. Visitors enjoyed fresh and delicious fish dishes along with traditional local meals.
Delicious food, a good selection of drinks, a great view harbour view and on a clear day Christiansø on the horizon. A great place to wind down after a busy day.
Karen S — Google review
Number 3 & 9 on their menu are nice, but not wow. A bit overpriced and you have to order & pay upfront at the counter. Seating is available without reservations and they have outdoor tables that could allow for a meal in the sun in the early afternoon hours. Parking not available in the immediate vicinity.
Olivian O — Google review
Probably the most disappointing Caesar salad I've had. Very little chicken (3 slices) and no romaine lettuce, but instead a handful of spinach and arugula leaves. Dressing was basically just mayo and too much of it. Cheese was plenty but flavorless
Bo A — Google review
Too popular and crowded due to its great location and view. Food is good, but stay away from their ice tea and homemade lemonade which are diluted and generally bad tasting. Some options available for vegetarians.
Mark R — Google review
Basically the only cafe in Gudhjem open until 23 (how scandalous!). Limited choice of drinks, generous pours of cava, and good/reasonably priced food (the traditional Danish, the burgers looked lousy). The staff is made by local very young kids, who are often more interested in hanging out with their friends rather than paying attention to customers. One of said friends spent a whole evening loudly belching. Anywhere else the owner would have chucked him out and fired the bartender.
Alessandro H — Google review
We loved fish balls, veggie burger, beef burger, salmon salad. Lovely outdoor dining. View of harbor.

We enjoyed a late lunch last week. Great location and okay prices, considering its tourist area. The fish was very fresh and delicious. It was great to try some traditional meal from the area.

Nestled in the charming town of Gudhjem, Pandekagehuset is a delightful spot that specializes in pancakes, offering a unique twist on this beloved dish. With its cozy atmosphere and inviting decor, it’s the perfect place to unwind while savoring delicious sweet and savory options. The menu features an array of creative pancake fillings that cater to various tastes, making it a must-visit for food enthusiasts exploring Bornholm.
We enjoyed a delicious lunch at pandekagehuset. They serve a mix of savory dinner crepes, sweet dessert pancakes and full omelets. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a relaxed atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and you should expect a funny remark from the staff. We have visited the place many times and always enjoyed it. The place is small so expect it to be crowded.
Peter G — Google review
The pancakes themselves are nice and the various sweet and savoury options are plentiful. At the prices charges it would not harm using fillings where are home made - for example the apple compost tasted very much like the long life stuff from Supermarkets and the cream- like the sugary stuff from a spray can.
Mette S — Google review
Pancake with frozen tasteless vegetables and charge for that 155dkk should be a crime. You could add at least some pesto or fresh herbs.
Patryk R — Google review
Great little local place for pancakes. Owner is very friendly and fun. Make sure to stop by here for a snack or meal if you're in Gudhjem. Definitely worth it! We could bring our dog inside too, so that was great.
Nicolas S — Google review
The pancakes were great. They were more than happy to alter the original menu to your liking.
Hobo — Google review
Wasn't very happy with my experience. The veggie pancake I ordered had frozen veggies inside and the taste wasn't good. Moreover the food is quite expensive so you'd expect more. They only accept Danish cards or cash
Viivi V — Google review
Food was bad. Frozen veggies, hair in the food, eggshell in the omelette and half bad mushrooms. Way overpriced for what it is. Furthermore, discrimination against foreign people. Only accepting card payment by Danish card.
Leon — Google review
We’ve had two omelettes and coffees, the filling was made with frozen vegetables and canned asparagus. The side salat with dressing resembled the ones added to cheap kebabs. The coffee tasted terrible, almost like an instant one. Guess they should stick just to making sweet pancakes.

Banquet hall
Restaurant Rø offers an authentic time capsule experience in a banquet hall reminiscent of the 1970s. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, with a rustic touch that resembles homemade dishes prepared by one's grandmother. The service is excellent, provided by polite and attentive staff members. This establishment provides customers with a superb dining experience, combining delicious cuisine with friendly and efficient service, all within a charming ambiance that transports them back in time to the 1970s era.
Maybe I need to get out more, but this was the highlight of my trip to Bornholm 🇩🇰, it was like stepping back in time. Buffet style (all you can eat) tender roast pork loin and crackling with all the traditional trimmings (boiled potatoes, sweet potatoes, stewed red cabbage, red cabbage slaw, pickles, apples and bacon, cranberry’s, mustard and gravy) Was delicious 😋 Absolute cozy Sunday grandmas house vibes 👵🏼 Bit weird they charge for tap water…

(Translated by Google) I wanted to treat my partner for Father's Day and chose to go here for roast pork... We regretted it. Pork was inedible - greasy, and tough... And no doubt deep fried! We will not come here again, and will not recommend it to others. It's a shame, because it's otherwise a nice place, with lots of potential, for a little trip back in time.

A really good experience, as it was when we had roast pork last year. The place is only open two days a week and it seems to be really well attended. Unfortunately there is a for sale sign outside, so excited to see what happens.

(Translated by Google) The place is open two days a week and is very well visited. Sunday menu: Roast pork. We were a less nice company of 9 people. for birthday. The hostess had chosen roast pork made from the comb. There was good meat, home-made baked brown gravy, red cabbage and sour and jelly, but from a tin, browned and white potatoes. Lemon curd for dessert. Overall, OK average cook wife food. The sauce and meat were a little too salty, but on the other hand, the house red wine was an excellent thirst quencher. The place has recently been sold so let's see what the new ones can do. Poo poo 😃 *The picture is from before the place burned down and was a temperance hotel. Alt i alt, OK gennemsnitlig kogekone mad.

(Translated by Google) A lovely place without so much frills. One thing on the menu on Sundays: roast pork in long strips and more if you could eat it. Sweet service, who came several times and asked if we wanted more steak - look, it's really man food, it's nothing. However, one could suspect that the roast pork was smoked first, as it had a slightly smoky appearance, but when that is said, it tasted wonderful. My wife had lemon fromage and I had their homemade strawberry porridge with cream - yumfillibaba it was good. A good hearty meal for very reasonable money (Original) Et herligt sted uden så meget dikkedarer.

Day 4

Off the beaten path
For day 4, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Kobbeådalen. Not quite as popular as Bornholms Kunstmuseum, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Nature preserve
Kobbeådalen offers a picturesque hiking trail from Milstedt harbor, leading through diverse landscapes with footbridges and bridges along the coast to Kobbean parking lot. The route is marked by signposted Sti hiking trails and leads to a stunning waterfall. Good footwear is recommended for the varied terrain, which includes several beautifully embedded bridges. At the top, visitors can continue along a gravel path to the road or return via Kobbeå for about 3 km.
It's only about 5 km to the water fall and back, but it can seem quite a bit longer because the path is not that good towards the end (near the water fall). When I went there, there was literally no water in the water fall; if it's streaming at full force, I can imagine that a few places are even a bit dangerous to traverse. Something to keep in mind if bringing children or people with difficulty moving on the trip. The nature here is plenty spectacular in itself, with the surrounding steep rock walls and the vines that go up every tree like in a real jungle. Still would've preferred to see the water fall in all its glory, but at least I got to take a picture from inside the tunnel which it's supposed to come out of.

Hiking trail changes character completely midway through, from easy peasy to treacherous foot-sized rocks.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful raw nature, with a few aids, in the form of footbridges and bridges over the stream. At the end/top where the waterfall is, you can go to the right and out along the gravel path to the road and continue down to the beach again, to a parking space if you are in a car and don't want to walk the same way back along Kobbeå for about 3 km. Then the trip will be about 6-7 km. Really beautiful nature and completely quiet. Birds chirping and trickling water, the sunlight dancing in the leaves of the treetops. Don't need hiking boots but small shoes should be expected to either get a little wet or dirty with soil/mud depending on the season.

(87)
Røverborgen, a captivating destination just outside Gudhjem, is steeped in history and natural beauty. Established by the local tourist association in 1907, its name was crafted to evoke a sense of adventure and allure. The area has been thoughtfully developed with accessible bathing spots, well-marked trails through lush forests, and even a bridge spanning the dramatic Ravneskaret abyss leading directly to Røverborgen itself.
I parked my car on Løkkegade and walked towards Røverborgen. It was quite a walk uphill, but once you got off the road on the walking trail, there are some benches to stop and enjoy the view. Big rocks were nicely placed to make a long staircase, some steps were about 30cm high and there is only space for 1 person. At some turns you can let another person pass. Once on the castle just enjoy take a rest (you earned it) and enjoy the view and listen to the sea.

It's a kind of flea market, except the proceeds go to the local youth club, which provides children and young people with sporting activities and thus supports them very well. The conversation with the volunteer "salesperson" was very interesting and informative 👍 (Original) Achtung! Bakery
Svaneke Brød is a bakery located inside a flower shop, offering a variety of Danish pastries and bread. While some find the pastries to be on the thicker side, others appreciate the warm pastry filled with sea buckthorn. The bakery's sourdough has garnered praise and can also be found on the menu at restaurant Razapaz. Visitors have described it as a wonderful place with delicious sweet, fresh, and crispy bread.
Svaneke Brød & Svaneke Blomster is a delightful combination of bakery and flower shop that shouldn’t be missed. The bread and pastries are homemade, ecological, and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the sourdough bread, which was reasonably priced at just 34 DKK, and the hawthorn pastry. The pastry stood out for being perfectly balanced—not overly sweet—which I personally find refreshing, especially compared to many other Danish pastries. Right next to the bakery, you’ll find a beautifully curated flower shop filled with unique decorations and stunning floral arrangements. It’s not just a shop—it’s an experience. Whether you’re treating yourself or picking up a gift, this place offers something truly special. Highly recommend a visit!

Lovely bakery that also sells flowers and local delicacies. Sourdough bread rolls and pastry were super fresh and absolutely mouth-watering. 🤤 You can also watch the bakers at work while you enjoy your food with a good cup of coffee. We drove here several times during our stay in Gudhjem, so it goes without saying that we highly recommend this place!

When heaven on earth is baked in a cinnamonroll - this is the place! I‘m not a cake and bakery guy, but this is it. Try to get it fresh and warm from the oven.

I went to Svaneke Brød a few years ago. I think about the croissants every day, and have made it a goal to find ones as good as this place. My mission has failed and I fear I will never taste the perfection of croissants again this place managed to produce. When I say that I think about them all the time, I am not exaggerating. I just spent the last half an hour on Google Maps trying to locate this place just to write the review.
Briellen L — Google review
If I could I would give two different reviews. Their sourdough buns, breads and rye are fantastic - Full of flavour! But unfortunately their pastries are without layers and buttery taste. In my opinion they should focus on the yeast/sourdough stuff.
Cecilie H — Google review
This bakery is bread and pastries are pristine! The atmosphere is unique and it is located right next to sweet Svaneke port.

Arguably the best bakery on the island. You have to try the tebirkes.
Günther K — Google review
I was eager to try this bakery because of their good reviews but sadly they don't live up to the high ratings. Sure, the bread is better than the one you can get in the supermarkets but their sourdough buns are super compact, not light and airy. Their pastry, cinnamon bun was chewy and dry, "croissaint" has nothing to do with croissaint, and cardamom too much cardamom for my taste.

Bar
Provianten is a charming wine bar and shop located on the dock in Gudhjem, a picturesque town on Bornholm. This cozy spot specializes in natural wines from the south of France and offers a great selection for wine enthusiasts. In addition to its impressive wine collection, Provianten also serves delicious organic food with vegetarian and vegan options available. The atmosphere is welcoming, attracting both locals and tourists who appreciate the friendly staff and tavern-like ambiance.
Picture a quaint fisherman's cottage by a picturesque harbour, some rustic furniture, low ceilings and wooden beams adorned with wine bottle openers of all shapes and sizes and intimate candlelit tables and you have arrived at Provianten. There is no hand out menucard, all dishes are handwritten on a solitary chalkboard at the entrance to the salon. There are 5-6 Snacks (we chose to have these as starters and it was ample) three appetizers, three mains, one dessert and one cheese course The wines were on display in an alcove, there are two prices, one for takeaway and one for the pleasure of consumption at Provianten. We were 7 people in total and chose almost everything on the menu and it was all scrumptious. Rustic Pork rillette with pickles, blue cheese with raisins, potato cream with truffle sausage followed by a hearty Boeuf Bourguinon, braised Pork breast and Panfried Aubergine with capers and fennel. If ever i saw an artisan wine selection then this was it. After recommendation from the owner, we chose Cremant, in the form of Blanquette de Limoux Monsieur S, this proved to be an excellent accompanyment to our array of snacks. We stayed with white grapes for the mains and chose D’Anjou Bannesy dels Clot Escounils an “assemblage” of Grenache grapes from the Roussilon region of southern France-18 months in oak barrels, a wine perfect in body to compliment the braised pork and Bourguinon. It was a saturday evening and Provianten was full with around 30 guests of all generations. We thouroghly enjoyed our visit to this unique fishermans brasserie by the quay.

We’re vegans, so we were a little afraid not to find proper food in Bornholm. But there was a delicious vegan cauliflower soup on the menu and the chef ‘freestyled’ a little tapas plate for us with lots of flavorful small dishes. The place is also super cost and 100% organic. We will defiantly be back!

Best place in Gudhjem, and probably my favourite place on all of Bornholm. Great food. Organic and always with a vegetarian alternative to the dish of the day, which is normally some kind of stew. Always lovely. You can also get snacks, desserts and plenty of good organic wine. It's a small place with a mix of local guests and tourists. There's a great atmosphere and you can tell that people always come back!

We sat outside in a cozy small area under a cliff wall. The spot turned out to have the evening sun which was really nice during our dinner. We had a very bad experience last Sunday evening. We came there around 18:30 and ordered 3 pizzas, while we waited, we ordered 2 glass wine and rabarber drink, but after one and half an hours, no pizza coming, and they told us thet have forgot it if we want pizza, we had to order again. We complained to them, but they wouldn't do anything for us. We had to pay our drinks and went home without eating anything.

If you go to this restaurant between 16-17 you will risk not be served anything else than semi-manufactured, overpriced pizza. Keep in mind the restaurant doesn't have any ventilation, resulting in unbearable conditions to eat in on hot summer days. One star for a nice view, that's all.

Excactly what you think it is: A pond with waterlilys and frogs. Not that its surroundings are very busy, but it’s still a small oasis in its own right. An incredible place! Delicious food - if you’re starving or just peckish. Gorgeous wine and all at great prices. The hospitality was second to none - I completely forgot to mention that I don’t like rare meat and realized only when the food came out that the burger was slightly pink in the middle. Despite this being entirely my fault they cooked a whole new burger for me and they were simply lovely about it. An easy 5 stars.

Tasty food. Fresh ingridients. Great beers. Friendly service. Tables located in a nice garden. Just one caveat: 500DKK for 2 burgers and 2 drinks is a word. Overall my full recommendation!

Nestled in the charming town of Gudhjem, Stammershalle Badehotel offers a delightful escape with its simple yet comfortable rooms that boast stunning views. Guests can indulge in culinary delights at the polished on-site restaurant, which serves an array of dishes inspired by Nordic cuisine and beyond. For those looking to unwind, the hotel features a refreshing outdoor pool surrounded by picturesque scenery.
We stayed for the weekend and had booked the gourmet package with a 2 course meal on Friday and a 7 course meal on Saturday. This place is quite unique and the food is above and beyond. We also joined the wine tasting event on Saturday where we tasted 8 different wines from their cellar. We started with Champagne from 1999 and went through a good collection of old and rare wines. Their cellar is a good reason alone for a stay. On Saturday we rented bikes and explored the nearby places. This place is highly recommended and I would have given them 6 stars if possible.

I recently stayed at Stammershalle Badehotel on Bornholm and was impressed. The location is simply stunning, with beautiful views over the sea and a calm, relaxing atmosphere that makes it an ideal getaway. The restaurant is good, serving high-quality food in a charming setting. I only missed one thing—a proper espresso machine would make the experience even better! The hotel is also in the process of finishing a new spa and pool, which I think will really elevate the overall experience once complete. Even now, it’s a wonderful place to stay, and I can only imagine it will get better with these additions. Overall, Stammershalle is a lovely hotel in a truly beautiful location, and I look forward to returning.

Champagne brunch. What a wonderful selection of food. Fresh bread and great drinks. During he brunch the kitchen serves 3 meals. The whole brunch ends with pancakes. At that time I just had to taste a little, I was full of all he great food. Fresh fruit, salats, meat, cheese, jam youghurt. So many great food items to eat.

We stayed here a whole week and loved it! The location is gorgeous, the hotel is lovely, they have great food including an incredible breakfast, and the people here are wonderfully warm and friendly. We really hope to visit again someday.

An absolute gem of a hotel! Overflowing with charm and the personnel were exceptional. We stayed during the opening weekend, so there were a few kinks to iron out. But overall and unforgettable experience! Breakfast was incredible!

Warm, clean, beautiful seaside hotel with very kind staff and an excellent kitchen. Breakfast buffets were delicious as well. Their 7 course dinners are highly recommended. Perfect location, with the sea right across the way. The staff took great care to make our experience great.

A beautiful location and a gorgeous old (main) Bornholm building dating back more than a hundred years. Very kind staff, quaint interior in the main building, a bit of a Danish design of the new rooms (in new wing) with rooms that possess an amazing sea view. It felt like the place was in the middle of a major face lift and expansion of facilities, and a bit to go still. The restaurant is good with local beer available, and either a set daily menu or tasting menus (4 or 7 courses). We did the set menu (2-3 courses), and apart from long waiting times and a bit slow (but charming when it did appear) service it was good. The dessert was excellent. The wine list was a bit on the expensive side, and by the glass was limited to only a few options. The breakfast menu changed from day to day, which was a nice touch. The sauna is a bit of a downer, and difficult to get the lights on. Which is helped wonderfully by the charming staff that help. Also, charging available for e-vehicles, which seems quite normal for Bornholm.

We visited the restaurant and had a 7 course dinner to celebrate my partner’s birthday. Unfortunately we are very disappointed with our experience and cannot recommend the place. The food was great. It’s rich in flavors, well balanced and beautifully presented. On the other hand, the service was just so poor and unprofessional. Everything went okay till the 3rd dish, but the food stoped coming after that. Apparently there were some mix up in the system, and it took a full hour for us to get the 4th dish. We told them that we need to leave in one and half hour to take a bus back to our accommodation, but the service never really speeded up.. we were more stressed and worried about the food not showing up and couldn’t really enjoy the later half of the evening.. At the end, the time went up, and we had to leave before the last dessert was served. We were still charged the full course price, and they also mischarged wine twice - first charged for a full bottle although we ordered by glass, and then wrong, more expensive wine after pointing out the first mistake. Don’t know if we were just extremely unlucky.. but considering all PRs and recommendations in various channels, it was just not up to the advertised standard..
