Rastenbachklamm is a natural monument in Caldaro/Kaltern, offering a picturesque hiking tour of about 2.5 hours through a stunning gorge with beautiful rock formations and an impressive main waterfall. The trail leads to a vista point overlooking Lake Kaltern, providing an opportunity for romantic photography with the Leuchtenburg Castle and majestic peaks in the background. Visitors can also explore a viewing platform above the gorge for breathtaking views.
This was only 10 minutes drive from our accommodation and it was something we thought we would try as the weather was bad. Getting there by car was very easy and the parking was ample as the car park was not full. It wasn’t only obvious about the directional route to take but upon arrival to the right of the car park we went downhill following the red white red markings. The route does require footwear that is able to cope with slippery rocks and mud. The route is a loop as long as you follow the markings. We really enjoyed the views on our walk around. When you get to the bottom, do make sure you follow the sign to the large waterfall which is 100 m off the route. After we saw the large waterfall we climbed up to the next platform, at that point it is confusing as the sign points backwards. Continue to go up and don’t take either route that goes down. See the photograph. On the way back, make sure you keep an eye out for the trees that have red white red on them as this will guide you back to the car park. At the top you will see an electricity pylon, keep that on your left and follow the path and that will take you in the correct direction.

Amazing place! We have done 4,6 km hike around. You feel like in the tropics, water everywhere! So it makes it cooler in hot summer day. Definitely go there is you are in the region!
Martynas J — Google review
It is a very beautiful place. Even that we are senior we walk the route and with stops on the way it was not hard. This is a public trail and can be done in circular way. You need to continue to the second panoramic porch to go back other way you will go down to the lake
Adi E — Google review
Nice for a short 4-5km hike. Feels like in tropical jungle. Very refreshing during hot days
Kristina Š — Google review
When you arrive at the top it is a very easy and stunning walk to a magnificent view point. At this point you can turn around or continue for a more hearty experience. Coming from the bottom will be a good exercise.
Chris — Google review
An impossible tour for average sportive people. We met very young children, lots of dogs, people underequipped with flip-flops and other crazy ones. The waterfalls are mostly artificial, the paths (especially after the last stairways going down) were partially not secured (we had to watch a person stumble) and very steep. This was just not worth it. Much too many people for the narrow stairways.
Alfred S — Google review
Wonderful hiking trail with many vistas, bridges over the stream and shade from the forest.
Oren C — Google review
Nice hiking tour of about 2,5hrs and 500 altimeters (starting from the Strada dello Vino) through a wonderful gorge. Beautiful rock formations, impressive main waterfall, many other beautiful spots. Great vista point looking out over Lake Kaltern at the top. Nice roundtrip to the gorge entrance if you turn right (north) when returning from the topside vista point and follow the hiking route 13 to the main entry point of the gorge. From there backtrack the initial route to either the parking lot or to the Strada dello Vino. Sturdy hiking boots as well as a light jacket (parts of the gorge are lying in the shade) recommended.

Elena Walch is a renowned winery located in the Alto Adige region, offering an impressive selection of wines. Visitors have praised the relaxed and knowledgeable staff who provide excellent recommendations. The stunning architecture of the winery and its beautiful surroundings make it a delightful place to visit. Guests can enjoy delicious wines at the bistro while taking in the gorgeous view of the Kastelantz vineyard. The friendly and kind owner adds a personal touch to the experience, making it memorable for visitors.
We were staying 1 minutes walk from this winery, and was very pleased we could walk. The staff member was very friendly and conversed with us in both Italian and English. They have a large range of wine of both classic and single vineyard bottles. We tried a number of different bottles and thought the rose was great as well as the very aromatic GEWÜRZTRAMINER (we bought a bottle) The staff member was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of context to the wine’s background as well as some local knowledge. Well worth a visit to taste this delicious wine.
James T — Google review
Absolutely fantastic “degustazione masterclass” with Nathalie at Elena Walch. Beautiful winery, super in sustainability, but most importantly excellent wines! The Ludwig Pinot Nero is an absolute gem but also the Pinot Bianco and we were surprised by the rose! And lunch in the bistro was really good. All staff super attentive. Must visit!

On a rainy day, we dropped by for a wine tasting. The tasting room is an intimate place with knowledgeable, engaged staff. A great flight of 5 wines with expert explication. If you want to have a tour in addition to a tasting, a reservation is needed.

Nice and tranquil place. Fancy "snack' dishes, well prepared. Good selection of Walch wines, all by the glass as well. Service slow but friendly.

Nice and tasty wines ! Very nice staff. We also met the owner. They are very kind and friendly. Unfortunately, we did not had much time to spend. But very nice winery and good experience!!

Very welcoming place. We tried some wines and got some good consultation. The place is made really nice. Recommend to check it out if you like wine.

We visited the Ostaria at Castel Ringberg. Beautiful setting among the vineyards overlooking Lake Caldaro. The tasting at the wine shop left much to be desired - the young man serving didn’t seem to be particularly engaged or enthusiastic, given how amazing the wines are was a shame. Still the wines are all quite unique and elegant and definitely worth exploring.

Luisa, the wine tour guide, was without question the most knowledgeable, engaging and full of personality hostess you would ever wish for! Loved every minute being with her.

Castle
Castelchiaro, also known as Leuchtenburg, offers an interesting hike to the ruins of an ancient castle. The ascent takes about 45 minutes and provides breathtaking views of the surrounding valley and Lago di Caldaro. While the walk is not too difficult, it's recommended to wear mountain boots for safety. Visitors should be prepared with anti-mosquito spray or long clothes due to swarms of mosquitoes in the area during certain times of the year.
Wonderful and quiet place. Great hike and views, especially in winter
David Z — Google review
Interesting ruins of and ancient castle. The path that gets you to the top of the hill it's not too difficult to climb but you definitely need mountain boots to do this safely. The walk takes about 30 minutes from the car park at the side of the road (It isn't really easy to spot it while driving).
Siu L — Google review
The parking is hard to find, but you can search for it as parcheggio castelchiaro, its literally in the curve. The path up to the ruin is quite steep, make sure you have hiking boots. If you are a rookie hiker, or if you are not the fittest you have ever been but still enjoy hiking (like my lovely mom☺️), then its about 50-60 minutes with stops to catch your breath. Otherwise you can make it in 30-40 minutes. Although its tiring, the view is absolutely worth it! The ruin itself is not much, but you can see far away in every direction.
Barnabás S — Google review
The walk and the view are great, but you NEED to bring anti mosquito spray or long clothes. Went up there on 1st of July 2023 and there were literally swarms of these beasts. But totally worth it if you are prepared.
Sebastian S — Google review
It was a nice experience, I'm a bit of a introvert and I'm not used to go outside my house, but overall it was a good experience. Note: take some mountain type boots else you'll probably broke your legs. Have a nice day!
JFab — Google review
Very nice and short hike takes about 45 min to get up, breathtaking view and you can enter the castle as well, would recommend going there!

We had a fantastic experience here with wine tasting. We were shown a ton of different wines and talked through them, helped to find our taste and got to know the server well as well. (Translated by Google) I went to the Kaltern Winery for a wine tasting on the afternoon of September 19, 2025. The wine tasting was informative and detailed. Afterward, I purchased approximately €460 of wine. Finally, I drank another glass of wine outside the wine shop. I was charged an additional €5 for this glass. I would have expected more generosity at this point. Since this wasn't the case, I'm left with a feeling of dissatisfaction.

Disappointed :((((( we were not allowed to ride bc we had our dog with us. She's knee high and they said only very small dogs are allowed, the other one's only with muzzles. Our dog behaves great, she's been with us everywhere, knows all kind of strange human vacation stuff..so I knew she would be ok. Besides, where shall I get a muzzle in that small village?? So, rules are rules - "No Mendelbahn for you !" (who knows, knows😉)

we wanted to take the mendelbahn in Kaltern. We were with 4 people and 2 middle sized dogs (englisch springer spaniel). On the info panel next to the ticket machine, there is a poster that informed us that dogs under 50cm high and 70cm long could go in the train for free. So we didn't pay a ticket for them. So when the driver arrived he wasn't very friendly and told us the dogs had to wear muzzles although they were already wearing them. Then he wouldn't take the dogs up without a ticket because he claimed they were bigger then 50cm high and 70cm long, when we asked him for a rule to measure them he said he didn't had one. Then we decided not to take the mendelbahn at all and he gave our money back. It's quite disappointing that the drivers aren't able to apply the rules that are given. A driver that talks to us unfriendly with his sunglases on, although there was no sun, isn't polite either. Please inform your staff about this.

The food is good, large portions and prices in line with similar places. Much better in summer than in winter and the minus star is only because in winter it wouldn't be bad to heat the place up a bit. Otherwise, the location is also very nice, right at the beginning of the cycle/pedestrian path of the former Bolzano-Caldaro railway. One looks out over Caldaro and the mountains, but firstly you have to avoid the view of the car park and the wheelie bins. The staff are wonderfully friendly and accommodating, whether you just stop for an espresso or something more substantial. What makes the difference if you have kids is the trampolines. Italian restaurant
Nestled in a picturesque location, Ristorante Pizzeria Altenburgerhof offers diners a delightful experience with stunning views right from the parking lot. This charming eatery features a menu filled with local culinary delights, including hearty portions of pizza and pasta. While vegetarian options may be limited, the accommodating staff is eager to customize dishes to suit your preferences, such as serving their flavorful vegetable soup without sausage or providing several vegetarian pizza choices.
Great view from the parking lot of the restaurant. Typical food options from the area. Even though there are not as many vegetarian options on the menu, the staff was happy to make adjustments to only serve the vegetable soup of the day without the sausage and there are also a few vegetarian pizza options. The proportions are quite big and the staff is also happy to split the pizza onto 2 plates so that two people can share. Great prices, great amount of delicious food, friendly staff. Can highly recommend this! The sunset also looks nice from the restaurant. Recommend reservation on busy days, we were lucky to get a table without reservation.

We cycled to this restaurant and they had two racks for locking your bike to. There were lots of options for places to sit, some near the car park for children as there was a play area, as well as some quieter seating for adults. The staff were very friendly, spoke Italian and the service was fast. The food was good, the local board was very tasty and there was a good range of meats. They had lots of local wines on offer, I had the house wine which was very cheap and pleasant to drink. Good value location for a meal and a good view.

I recently visited this restaurant with a group of colleagues, all doctors from diverse backgrounds. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the woman running the establishment treated us in an unkind, dismissive, and discriminatory manner, likely because we were not locals. There was no greeting or hospitality, which left a sour impression right from the start. We had chosen this place after a long hike, to grab a coffee expecting a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Instead, we were met with a filthy environment. The restaurant with smoke from the kitchen permeating the entire space, making it uncomfortable to stay. Dirty dishes were left lying around, and the overall hygiene was concerning. Based on what we saw, I wouldn’t be surprised if health inspectors (NAS) would uncover serious issues with the quality of the products they sell. I cannot recommend this place to anyone—it was an unpleasant experience in every way.

Day 2

Northeast side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Burgschenke Hocheppan, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Baron Di Pauli. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Lookouts
Burgschenke Hocheppan is a stunning castle located high above Val d'Adige, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Otztal Alps, the Dolomites, and Bolzano. The trail to reach the castle is challenging but rewarding, with a small restaurant serving delicious local food and drinks. It's advisable to visit on less crowded days for a more enjoyable experience. The castle terrace is adorned with flowers and provides a shady retreat after the uphill hike.
Awesome location on top of a mountain. Great view over the landscape of Bozen and Kaltern. After a footwalk of about an hour we were surprised of a restaurant and idyllic beergarden waiting for us. One of my favorite hikes in Meran Valley!

Beautiful Castle, well worth the climb to the top. They terras is nicely decorated with many flowers and has many tables in the shade where you can recover from the hike. The food and drinks were also very tasty.

What a cool place! We stopped here for lunch after a hike through the castles in the area. The prices were fair, the food was fresh and tasty. The location is lovely and the view is epic!

Great food, friendly service and they said that an english menu is coming in a week. We survived by pointing at photos of the food in their google reviews. 😂 cool atmosphere on a nice sunny day too.

Its a very nice castle, we had to park the car and take a shuttle to the castle because it was far for us to walk and uphill. The castle offers a tour in a very old chapel for half an hour (its one room with paintings all over the walls). There's also a restaurant with a very good food and service, of course the atmosphere was beautiful. There was also an option to rent a crossbow and to play kind a game around the castle hunt like animals

Penegal offers an incredibly beautiful view and a very friendly atmosphere in the restaurant, complete with a fireplace. The dinner is said to be excellent, making it a place that visitors regularly return to due to its great attraction. Whether visiting as a child or in more recent times, the panorama of Penegal continues to captivate tourists. It's considered a must-see for those on holiday in Kaltern and the surrounding area.
Trekking day from Passo Mendola to Penegal Mountain (CAI route 500). A very special walk, from a place (passo Mendola) that has seen better days, but keeps its flavor, to the peak of the Penegal, that has one of the most breathtaking views of Italy. When men and nature work together beauty happens.

Once we took the path we set off! The direction is well traced and in about an hour and a half you climb to the top. We took lots of photos both during and at the top as it is really beautiful. Once you reach the "summit" it is possible to eat and find refreshment... As per tradition, we have a packed lunch! Tip, behind the Panorama hotel you can access a really interesting panoramic point! (Original) 🥳🥳🥳 Bella escursione!

(Translated by Google) We combined our hike up Penegal with Monte Toval, which made the tour a great experience. The first climb from the hiking trail towards Monte Toval was, as described, initially really steep, but easily manageable with sturdy shoes and a little head for heights. The effort is worth it, because the path leads through breathtaking landscapes and offers fantastic views every now and then. With the combination of Penegal and Monte Toval you get the best of both worlds - a relaxed hike with beautiful views, followed by a slightly more challenging but doable descent that offers an added touch of adventure.

Our family from the San Francisco, CA area took a trip to the Caldaro Wine Region of Italy during a visit to my father's home village of Ruffre, Italy. We booked an evening wine tasting event at St. Quirinus Winery. The experience exceeded our expectations. We have traveled and tasted wine throughout the world and the intimate multigenerational family hospitality and beauty of the winery were among the top we have visited. We had the pleasure and joy of being in the company of 18 year old Nathalie who is studying agriculture to one day run her family owned winery. The village and winery owners speak very little English (German) and Nathalie was our personal English speaking guide. She is mature and professional beyond her years. She is so knowledgeable about the viticulture process and history of her family winery and very excited to share her passion and love of the industry. The wines and the charcuterie were fabulous. I highly recommend this winery and not only hope to visit the winery again, but also stay in their villas. Thank you Nathalie and her adorable twin sister and family. Our visit with you is one of our favorite Italian travel experiences. Ciao Bella!

Restaurant
Nestled in the picturesque Caldaro Sulla Strada Del Vino, PHILIAZ offers a delightful dining experience with stunning views of Lake Caldaro. Guests rave about the vibrant and beautifully crafted dishes that showcase an international flair, setting it apart from typical local cuisine. The friendly staff enhances the experience by recommending perfect wine pairings, like a refreshing French Rosé or a local Chardonnay. While some diners found certain menu items to be overpriced, others appreciated the value of well-prepared starters.
Everything was really good, great sushi. Recommend to take the burrito and the bao. The octopus was good but too tender. We had to wait more than 30min from the starters to the next dishes, but in general the service was good. I would love to taste more things maybe in the Guest chef showroom.

Well, the food was very well prepared. Some with good value for money such a the starter plate, others too pricey in my opinion. Although I loved the sign “Not you again” by the entrance, the atmosphere at the restaurant was my biggest problem.

Friendly staff, amazing and colourfully crafted dishes, excellent location with view over Lake of Caldaro. The friendly waiter suggested which wines to combine with our food order, we tried the french Rosé and a local Chardonnay, could never be disappointed by the choice! At the end of our dinner we were invited to a liquor with crushed ice, never tried before. Will return for an event in this location! High recommendations!
Stian T — Google review
The only thing nice is the location. Other than that it’s probably the worst place I’ve ever been at. Service personnel is rude AF. They had more than 4 free tables but wouldn’t let us sit down because they had to prep for the next day at like 9pm which is way before they even close. So we sat down at the bar. We tried to order and in a very angry way they told us we can only order in italian (all my friends were foreign). We sat for an hour in front of an empty glass and nobody bothered to ask if we want a second round. We left and never coming back again.

Wow! I love the menu! International, and seen in a new light. Very different from the usual local cusine. Beautiful presentation of the dishes. Lovely terrace, with a view looking down towards lake Caldaro. I absolutely love the interior decor! I've never seen such a gorgeous, modern decor in a restaurant here in south tirol. Beautiful! I'll definitely be back! And to try the cocktails!

Luggin Steffelehof is a charming restaurant located in a vaulted cellar, offering delicious food and fantastic wine. The hosts are known for their warm hospitality, and the owner, who is also a winemaker and fruit grower, takes pride in explaining the dishes and products to guests. Visitors appreciate the personal touch and attention to detail, making it a delightful dining experience.
A place definitely worth recommending. Five stars is not enough. Old, cozy interiors made of stone and old wood. Short menu with excellent local cuisine. Everything we tried was excellent. Local wine of perfect quality. First class service. And - at the end - schnapps. Highly recommend!

This place was recommended to us by a local. Great choice, it has a unique atmosphere, rustic and cute. The food was good, the wine also (as my hubby confirmed, I don't drink alcohol). However, - 2stars bc the waiter (or owner, I'm not sure) took reeeally long time in coming to each table. We waited very long for the food & wine.. The same situation at the other tables. But still, a cool place which should be visited, when in the area 😏

(Translated by Google) Beautiful hiking trail, always in the shade, perfect for the hot temperatures BUT! DANGER! MASSIVE MOSQUITO PLEASURE. We were really completely eaten up, so we couldn't enjoy the way up at all, unfortunately. So be sure to use mosquito spray in the summer and have something to walk with:) Otherwise really nice hike, well signposted and nice paths to walk. At the end at the Montiggler Lakes we were a bit disappointed, entry to the pool was 9.50 euros. It wasn't worth cooling off for us as we didn't want to stay long. Swimming for free is unfortunately difficult or almost impossible. The paths are well maintained, clean and well preserved. We completed the entire spring valley circuit in an hour's walk. By midday more and more people were out and about. What you should pay attention to is that there are many ticks lurking on the side of the path and that the footpath is not accessible with an e-bike. However, there is a cycle path from Lake Montiggler to Lake Kaltern. There is a lot to discover in the Spring Valley. Flowers, animals, plants. It's worth taking a good look and listening to nature or spending a moment on one of the rest benches. What was unpleasant was that we couldn't find a dog toilet; the community would urgently need to do this. Blumen, Tiere, Pflanzen. We would like to thank the Family Werner Morandell for the privilege to study, learn and enjoy their home and vineyards. Lieselehof Wine Museum is more of a living library of the history of grapes. Venturing into the South Tyrolean land is inspiring as it is awesome. To walk the lands of the Romans and to bear witness to the over 350 vines planted and thriving on this hillside nestled in the Dolomites is supernatural. Invited into this journey the descriptions, labeling and context of the grapes gives you a view into the past, present and future that is truly an exclusive experience. Guided by the curators of this pristine land are the family rooted in its history. The true expression of fine, clean wine expresses itself in the tastings arranged at the conclusion of the vineyard tour. We cannot recommend this tour and the opportunity to acquire these wines strongly enough. It is a wine that will bring you back time and again. Enjoy! Greg & Diane

I have become a regular visitor at the Lieselehof property since 2013. Discovered the property after great reviews on other sites. The owners are extremely friendly. They know a lot about wine and are very knowledgeable about tourism in Sud tirol. The wines that they make are incredible, fairly priced, and the owner has written a book on wine making. The rooms are very clean, comfortable, and very fairly priced. From the property, there are great views of the landscape, vineyard, and mountains. This is a great holiday destination in either summer or winter season. Easily accessible to hiking, swimming, skiing, and nearby cities like Bozen. Would highly recommend.

Located in Caldaro sulla Strada del Vino, Weingut Peter Sölva is a quality winery in Alto Adige. Visitors can enjoy an entertaining and professional tour of the winery, led by the owner Stephan Solva himself. The tour includes a detailed explanation of the challenges of wine growing in South Tyrol and a blind tasting of eight different wines. This is a great opportunity to learn about viticulture, ecology, and economy while enjoying top-quality wines in a friendly atmosphere.
We had such a great experience tasting wine here! Petra was incredibly knowledgeable about the wines and the history of the vineyard, which spans back to the 1700s. She was also so welcoming—her hospitality made our experience so much better. We tried a wide variety of delicious wines—local whites, reds, and a rose. We also got to sample the Brandy and Grappa. They have a handful of excellent local Italian products that you can buy. The olives and the Giuseppe Giusti balsamic vinegars are top notch. Highly recommend a visit if you are in South Tyrol.

(Translated by Google) The visit to Peter Sölva's winery was an extraordinary experience. The tour began among the rows of the vineyard, a place steeped in history, authenticity and a deep respect for nature. Subsequently, we moved to the cellar, where we explored the production techniques, with particular attention to the barrels and the processes that characterize the wines of this company. The highlight was the blind tasting of six wines, three white and three red. We immersed ourselves in a sensorial game, trying to recognize aromas, nuances and aftertastes. Peter's vast knowledge transformed this experience into something more than a simple tasting: it was a complete educational opportunity, capable of satisfying both those who appreciate good wine and those who are curious to discover the history and passion that lie behind every sip.

Nestled in the charming town of Kaltern, South Tyrol, Restaurant Pizzeria Rottenburgerkeller offers a delightful culinary experience that captures the essence of authentic Italian cuisine. Guests rave about the delicious food, particularly the pasta and lasagna, which are served in generous portions. The friendly staff may have some language barriers but are eager to assist with menu descriptions. Great food, wines (and good prices) and staff. Very fast, but not rushed. Super friendly waiters and just really good pasta and pizza. And of course an amazing view from the terrace.

Perfect pasta and perfect lasagna. Big portions too. Best we have had in italy! The atmosphere is very nice and easy parking. Beautiful view all around us.

The restaurant is open and Google says that it's open until midnight. It's 22:50h. When we enter in the restaurant the owner says "It's closed". We say that the opening hours is until midnight after Google maps but she says "sorry, isn't" and that's all. Why do you communicate to Google a fake opening hours? Why do you want your clients to go to your business just to say "please go out"? Just a bad customer policy...

Outside looks lovely but inside near the kitchen is not a nice place to be. Pizza good. My wife’s pasta came 30mins before my pizza. We ate separately which is not a great dinner experience unfortunately

Mixed feeling. Pros: nice place, nice garden, very good view terrace over apple trees and vineyards, very good food. Cons: waited a lot, we did not get meny with clear prices upfront and it was a little pricey. We arrived very late, but we were still welcome out of conventional hours. The garden is really well maintaned, with a very nice terrace, which makes it a small pretty place. The food was also quite good, with different options. Problem is they did not had a normal menu, but we were told the food by the waiter and for that we could not check prices upfront (nor get an idea of size of the disheses, especially for kids). In the end, nice day, nice food and experience, but the total was on the "hi-range" wrt the type of location. I was expecting some 10-15%. MAybe a transparent menu would have helped, but the experience was good. We waited a lot for the food, but it is cooked on the spot and we were in a late hours, so cannot say this is "a problem".

What should I start with ? The staff is amazing : kind and very efficient. They’re quick and always available but still have time for smiles and explanations about the local wine and the great food they serve (don’t leave without trying their desserts !) Also the atmosphere is astonishing ! We could not enjoy the view from the lake (night time) but it was still a very pleasing experience to have dinner next to the vineyard where the wine in our glass was from !

To top it off, mountain and lake view and top notch service. We'll be returning!

The Museo Provinciale del Vino in Caldaro is a remarkable museum that offers an immersive experience into the rich history of viticulture in South Tyrol. Visitors can explore a diverse collection of fascinating artifacts, machinery, and tools that were once used in winemaking. It provides a glimpse into the past practices of wine production, highlighting the incredible work carried out within these facilities. The cellar itself exudes beauty and charm, adding to the overall allure of the museum.

(Translated by Google) An interesting wine museum in the municipality of Caldaro, right on the Wine Road. The museum displays the history and traditions of wine production, using specific equipment, such as tools for pruning, harvesting, transporting, and grinding grapes, pressing pomace, and everything else needed for preservation. From a modern perspective, these tools are simply amusing and therefore fascinating to see. There are sections displaying wine containers from various historical periods, starting from Ancient Rome, when barrels didn't yet exist, but rather wineskins or jars. We find barrels with extremely high capacities, holding thousands of hectoliters, and a descriptive sign states that the largest barrel ever is on display in a cellar in Heidelberg, Germany. A trip down memory lane reveals that I saw this barrel way back in 1986 on my honeymoon. Very interesting; sometimes things just click. There are also other areas, such as one displaying the containers where wine or grappa was served to guests throughout the ages. There's also a section where they offer tastings of the prized local wine. It's actually quite good. Another interesting feature of the museum is a vineyard display with rows of vines growing various grape varieties: each row is labeled with the name of the grape and the wine it's made from. The garden is perched on a promontory and offers a spectacular view of the entire Adige Valley, at least the upper part, all the way to Bolzano. In conclusion, a visit to this museum, in my opinion, is not to be missed.

We will definitely be back and hope to encounter Monica and her contagious smile again while enjoying more of the amazing Kettmeir wines along with Monica's excellent food pairing choices!!

(Translated by Google) Perfect winery tour and tasting!! The girl explained everything to us perfectly, from the history of the past to the present day, so many unique details and historical moments. The winery is being expanded, they are being renovated, but this did not stop us from really taking a dive into history. What can I say about the tasting? Perfect! Everything explained perfectly, 4 excellent wines (including the classic method, a great treat) with a platter of cold cuts and cheeses. One of the best wineries in the area, I highly recommend it!!! A note of honor to the prepared, courteous and never intrusive staff. 10 and praise. Average prices. 10 e lode. Prezzi nella media.

Weingut Ritterhof offers a delightful dining experience with their superb selection of dishes. Customers can enjoy a mini tasting menu by ordering and sharing four appetizers, which are served in generous portions. The staff is accommodating and the views of Lago Caldaro/ Kalternsee add to the pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant also boasts an impressive wine list, featuring local options such as Gwurtzstraminer and the highly recommended GoldMuskateller sparkling wine from Ritterhof.
Had a super meal here - had a mini tasting menu by ordering 4 starters and splitting them. Staff were very accomodating with the request and portions were unbelievably generous. Had Tempura prawns with fennel and melon, gazpacho with burrata and basil sorbet, risotto with summer truffles and a steak tartare. Wines were equally good. Great value, great service and lovely views of Lago Caldaro/ Kalternsee

The GoldMuskateller is the best sparkling wine I've ever had. Had it in Florence, Italy at this small little restaurant and this wine from Ritterhof had me coming back with my roommate every single day! I WISH I COULD GET THIS IN THE UNITED STATES! It would sell incredibly well over here!

(Translated by Google) This is our first time vacationing in this region and we decided to visit based on the positive reviews – highly recommended! Incredibly great and warm-hearted service. Even though other shoppers kept coming into the store, the interruption wasn't significant for us. Our little wishes and preferences were addressed so expertly, peppered with little stories about cultivation, meaning, and the taste experience to expect... Three cases can now travel home with us, and when we open a bottle of wine every now and then, we'll remember more than just our wonderful vacation – thank you.

There's a short circular hiking trail around the biotope to the ruins and back again, which takes about 40 minutes. The view from the ruins into the Etsch Valley is magnificent. You get a very good overview of the landscape and the individual villages. (Original) Sehr gut vom Parkplatz Sportzone erreichbar.
