Specialty Museums
The Bastogne War Museum, located near the Mardasson Memorial in Belgium, is a modern military museum that offers an interactive and immersive experience focusing on World War II and the Battle of the Bulge. Rebuilt and reopened in 2014, it features digital exhibits, short films, and a reconstruction of the forest battlefield to provide visitors with a deeper understanding of the conflict.
We had not planned to go here and jeg went by accidentally and decided to check it out and was so surprised by it! Entry fee wasn’t that much and with the ticket comes free audio guides in many languages, including English! So many cool relics and well preserved stuff from the war! I’d definitely go again when in the area! Enjoyed every single moment at this amazing museum!

Spent a good 3 hours + here, so make sure you give yourself enough time. An immersive museum full of history, story telling and facts. Follow 4 characters as they take you through the years of WW2. Headsets available for an assortment of languages. Entrance ticket covers 3 sites and can be used over 7 days so no need to rush! Three ‘shows’ with 3D-glasses, special effects and wonderful animation really bring the whole period of WW1 and WW2 to reality. Sad tales are told so bring a hanky 🥹 The generation 45 production I found very interesting/emotional. Covers two soldiers journeys post war. I sadly lost my grandad in the conflict (buried in Belgium), so it really made me appreciate even more so what I lost from my life as his granddaughter 😢 Staff friendly, plenty of toilets available, cafe with hot/cold drinks and basic food has outdoor and indoor seating. Monument to the Americans quite powerful to see. We were unable to walk within it as it is currently being renovated. Parking flat and plentiful. Every vehicle costs £5 to park so a bit pricey for motorbikes, but it all goes to a good cause.
Andrea B — Google review
The museum was great as expected but what actually suprised me was the quality of food in the bistro. I expected it to be just a regular bistro not very good food and really expensive, the expensive part was true but I was really suprised that the food was actually good i reccomend almost everything on the menu exept for the sandwitches whitch are as expected bland but other than that its really tasty. If you are hungry after going through the museum dont waste your time trying to find a restaurant just eat there trust me you wont regret it.
Dag 5 — Google review
Great museum. Bring a sandwich and water because if you are interested in this topic, you will stay for over 3 hours. Excellent exhibition of vehicles, weapons and equipment, as well as other legacies. If you don't bring food, there are restaurants as well as a ww2 themed restaurant. The exhibition also includes films from the war period. A very comprehensive museum, it will not leave fans indifferent. It is not bad to buy tickets online, and there is also the possibility of buying tickets for 3 museums, which I recommend. Parking for a vehicle is 5 euros.
Radovan Z — Google review
Absolutely worth visiting. Wish we had had more time to be able to take in the whole museum. We had limited time as this was an impromptu stop. Make sure you have several hours to be able to spend here.
Verne D — Google review
A Thoughtful and Unfiltered Look at WWII History As an American visitor, I found the Bastogne War Museum refreshingly honest—no sugarcoating, no censorship. It presents the complexity of WWII with depth and integrity, offering exhibits in multiple languages, both written and audio. The ticket includes an audio headset that auto-plays as you move through the museum. The narration follows four fictional characters whose wartime perspectives add emotional context. While this concept is creative, I found the constant audio distracting when trying to read the exhibits. The only part of the audio tour I truly enjoyed was in the immersive theatre sections, where it complemented the visuals beautifully. The museum itself is well-curated, with rich timelines, authentic artifacts, and a clear historical arc. What stood out most to me was the focus on post-war Europe—something many museums overlook. The Generation 45 section was especially powerful, shedding light on the Cold War era and the human cost of division behind the Iron Curtain. Though the ticket price might seem steep, the experience is absolutely worth it. My only real critiques: the dim lighting made some exhibits hard to read, and the audio storytelling, while ambitious, didn’t always enhance the visit. Overall, a well-executed museum that respects the gravity of history while offering a compelling, multi-layered experience.
Vance S — Google review
Its good, some nice theatre settings. I was expecting more Bastogne/Foye specific, the details and notty gritty. It covers the whole war from 38-45 which is good if you don't know, then a secrion in the middle for the bulge.
Iain G — Google review
Pretty pricy for a family of four, especially since there is very little for kids to do. There is mostly a lot of tales and films, less historical things to actually see and experience. I would have suggested kids under 12 yrs could enter for free. The additional parking fee is just over the top.

Located in Bastogne, the Mardasson Memorial is a striking tribute to American soldiers who were injured or lost their lives during the Battle of the Bulge. Designed by architect Georges Dedoyard, this imposing structure takes the form of a 12-meter tall five-pointed American star with points extending 31 meters and a central atrium measuring 20 meters in diameter. The memorial offers fantastic panoramic views of the battle areas and features informative maps detailing the movements of German and Allied forces.
Didn't visit the museum just had a nice wander around the monument /crypt and took in the beautiful views over the belgian countryside. Impressive monument- just a shame you can't climb up the spiral staircase to the top anymore... Also had a coffee in the cafe adjoining the museum. Friendly service.
Ness R — Google review
A fitting tribute to all the American troops who gave their lives. The memorial is free entry but the museum that occupies the same site is 22€ per person that added to the 5€ parking charge it does start to become expensive. The memorial and grounds are well worth a visit if you want to pay your respects for free and the first 20 mins parking is free.
Deb L — Google review
Two years ago they were busy with the restoration, and now it's complete (although we couldn't discover where they restored it). Overall it is worth a visit when you are visiting the museum or if you are visiting Bastogne. It is a large monument to commemorate the Second World War.

Images from the Mardasson Memorial. Honoring the memory of American soldiers who were wounded or killed in the Battle of the Bulge. We should never forget. The museum was closed, but this monument brought tears to my sarcastic, cynical eyes. A great way to end our trip.

The Mardasson Memorial in Bastogne is striking, respectful, and deeply thought-provoking, honoring those who fought in the war. Visiting is definitely worthwhile, a powerful and moving experience. The upper deck wasnt open when we were there.

Its sadly closed for renovation but it has to be done so I dont see the reason for all of these 1 star reviews. But other than that its great its really majestic commemorating the sacrifices of thousands of soliders i would reccomend to visit
Dag 5 — Google review
Impressive monument, but at the time it is closed and cordoned off, the crypt is open thou, sign mentions renovation should have been completed last year and I see reviews here mentions it has been open since

The movies (3) was very good, but they tell the story in a too complicated way. Hard to follow as an adult and the children barely keep up, even though they know history and have seen some of the related films and series.

St. Peter Church (Eglise Saint-Pierre) is a historical gem located in the heart of town, with origins dating back to the 12th century. The church boasts a blend of architectural styles, featuring elements from Romanesque art and Gothic design. While its exterior may not immediately impress, the interior surprises visitors with a stunning Gothic network vault reminiscent of that found in the Saint-Jacques church in Liege.
I encourage the visit inside and seat a bit to enjoy the nice ceiling.

New American restaurant
I've been there only once, but I have a wonderful memory. The setting is nice, the cuisine is delicious, and the atmosphere is cozy. It's a pleasant place for a romantic evening. It's particularly recommended for meat enthusiasts. I especially recommend their specialty: pork knuckle with mustard sauce. It's a large portion of tender and tasty meat.
Such a great place to have lunch or dinner. They only accept cash though. We tried frogs for the first time and it was great. Then we had burgers which were HUGE. We couldn’t finish everything but it was very great quality. Service is amazing as well. Easy parking right in front of the restaurant . Great interior. Recommended.

Le Nut’s is a must-visit restaurant in the heart of Bastogne, known for its rich historical significance and strong ties to World War II. This popular eatery was a favorite hangout of Vince Speranza, a U.S. Army veteran of the 101st Airborne Division, who became famous for his wartime experience during the Battle of Bastogne. One of the highlights on the menu is the Vince Speranza Airborne Beef Stew, best enjoyed with an Airborne Blonde beer served in a signature helmet-shaped mug—an iconic souvenir available in local shops. The restaurant is not only known for its delicious food but also for its unique atmosphere, filled with military memorabilia and photographs of famous members of the Band of Brothers. Due to its popularity, Le Nut’s can get quite busy, but the friendly staff ensure a welcoming experience. Keep in mind that the restaurant only accepts cash, so be sure to come prepared. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply looking for a great meal with a fascinating backstory, Le Nut’s offers an unforgettable dining experience in Bastogne.

Do not come here if you are a tourist on a short time schedule! My friend and I sat for an hour and 15 minutes waiting for a salad and a burger. Some people on our tour were not served at all. After having told the staff we needed to leave due to our bus leaving soon, they rolled their eyes and said it was coming soon. This place needs an overhaul in management and a more competent kitchen staff. The food was of terribly low quality and extremely overpriced. Definitely a tourist trap. If you come here, only come here for a beer. The food and service are absolutely horrific. Also, this place is cash-only so we had to walk around town looking for an ATM which is extremely inconvenient considering this is a tourist town. The only thing Nuts about this place is the wait time!
Patrick C — Google review
Had a beer and my friend had a sandwich. It is a bit tourist trappy. The location was perfect as it was right in front of a car show that happened that weekend. Probably worth snapping a photo here or a quick drink or seat. But find somewhere else to go eat and spend more time if you want to try local culture. Also the name is a classic reference to the American general who refused to surrender. He just said, “Nuts” when asked to surrender by Germans during battle of bulge in Bastogne.

A great and funny place in Bastogne. I'm not often in the area, but I'll greatly make a detour. Good food. Also one of the rare places where you get good French fries. :-)
Antonie E — Google review
After that breakfast we vere full for all day 👏 Delicious soup of the day, tasty burger filled with sweet, baked onion served with really good french fries and good omlette (if the bacon would be more crispy, that would be perfect!). Also very nice service, speaking in English 😊 Thanks!
Spychi — Google review
Cute place. Food was good. Not great but good. However, price on the receipt did not match the in person menu or online menu. When my husband brought it up to the owner (as it was a big difference) he said they recently updated their prices but not the menu. If this is the case I'd suggest letting the customer know upon ordering as this is a cash only establishment and when you're pricing what you're ordering and then have to run to the atm because there is a 30€ difference its not ok.
Jaime K — Google review
A great place for meat lovers. I can especially recommend their speciality, pork knuckle with mustard sauce. A huge piece of tender and delicious meat. Also, the place has a great vibe with a lots of relics and pictures showcasing the old WW2 days during the Battle of Bulge. The service is also great, the prices are resonable, so there is nothing to complain about.

(Translated by Google) If you have time to waste and money to spare, this is the ideal place. Allow about fifteen minutes for someone to deign to take your order and bring you the 4 simple drinks. A waitress who doesn't understand the beer we're asking for even though it's the 4th one written on the menu: "I've never heard of that." Has she ever read the menu? And the latter is served to us, 6 months out of date... The waiter disdainfully retorts that we should have drunk it because it was still good. No excuses, everything is normal and I had to wait a while before being asked what I would like instead. And, by the way, it was knowingly served to other people afterwards. "There's no point in specifying that it's out of date." Finally, what can we say about the €9 appetizer board? 6 olives, 6 cheese cubes and 6 small slices of salami. We were waiting for the camera, it never arrived 🙂.

At O Nikos, you can enjoy a delectable selection of seafood dishes prepared in various styles, as well as delicious vegetarian options. The restaurant offers excellent service and the food is highly recommended. Their menu includes items such as panini, frutti di mare, pizza, giroscopi, and piatti vegetariani. They are known for serving the best pork gyros in Belgium and Greece. In addition to their gyros, they also offer a variety of other meats.
Great food and great atmosphere. We tried one of the sharing plates with a variety of meats and everything was very tasty.

(Translated by Google) Worthy of a recommendation, albeit with reservations. A special mention should be made of a special from the kitchen, which you can't expect in this price range. However, it's convenient. The menu offers an appealing selection. The food is very good quality, tasty, but not outstanding. The fries, however, were terrific. The service is friendly, but a bit overwhelmed – we had fries with three dishes, which only arrived after we asked for them and 10 minutes after we finished our meals. The play areas for children are very nice. The interior looked very nice, the exterior area was still a bit bare.

(Translated by Google) It’s a great restaurant, both in terms of what’s on your plate and in terms of the atmosphere and the service. The dishes are cooked with local products and the quantities are generous. Small downside: I took a suggested dish, pesto pasta with burrata and I found the price a little high even if it was good. As for the service, if I could give an extra star for the girl who took care of us, I would have done so. She took great care and when I asked for a cappuccino with milk foam for dessert, she told me at the time that unfortunately they don't know how to make it. No worries, I had some crème fraîche. But when it was time to serve it, she managed to serve me one with milk foam. It is becoming increasingly rare to find an establishment with such service. And finally, another detail that is very important: the children’s areas. The establishment has a terrace where a small playground is accessible. An interior space is also provided for the little scoundrels.

By visiting L'adresse, you can guarantee yourself a remarkable and unforgettable culinary experience. Immersed in a contemporary and inviting atmosphere, where every single detail has been carefully considered - from the beautiful tableware to the cozy settings -, you can escape from the worries of everyday life for one evening. This restaurant in Louvain-la-Neuve offers very enjoyable cuisine that is both seasonal and diverse. With their three menu options, guests are able to indulge in a variety of delicious dishes.
This may be the best place I’ve even eaten at. Great food and atmosphere. Although they serve cocktails and beer, I recommend getting the wine offered with each menu. Be aware that they don’t have menus in English. There are a selection of amazing vegetarian menus as well.

High-end restaurant, offering a selection of menus with various courses where all dishes surprise you in a unique way, from sweet salty mixes to japanese techniques, and detailed presentations. Great service, despite an austere interior design. Recommended for special occasions.

Day 2

West side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with Bastogne Barracks, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to General George S. Patton Memorial. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Military Museums
Bastogne Barracks is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts, particularly those fascinated by World War II and the pivotal Battle of the Bulge. This remarkable museum offers an immersive experience with guided tours and engaging exhibits that showcase the harrowing events of this significant conflict. Visitors can marvel at impressive displays of armored tanks, which serve as a testament to the military strategies employed during this tumultuous time.
Our experience at the Bastonge Barracks was incredible. The woman working the front desk (I am sad I didnt catch her name) was a tremendous help. She provided maps and all the information we needed to make it a great visit. (She also made some great restaurant recommendations andncalled to make sure one restaurant was still open late in the afternoon on New Years Eve - above and beyond!) We took the tour of the warehouses with the restored vehicles and weaponry of WWII, the museum, and the foxholes in the Ardennes Forest. Every detail was excellently portrayed and researched. I learned many things not previously known to me regarding this corner of the war. I was flooded with emense gratitude for brave men and women who took a stand and fought during WWII. Even today, Bastonge is a quiet, small town. I can only imagine what it looked like 81 yrs ago. The most moving thing for me to witness was the foxholes in the forest. They have been maintained throughout the years to be free of debris; however they looked so authentic for the cover they might have provided an American Soldier. It was a powerful, moving, and hallowed ground. To know men were fighting and dying in this forest, in weather much like we experienced (cold, with trees frosted by ice fog) brought me to tears. I am grateful such men lived.

Awesome, better than I thought it would be. Their variety of equipment was amazing. The main display hall was kinda dark. The military guide was very knowledgeable and friendly you could tell he really enjoyed his job

This is a fantastic WWII museum with various displays both inside and outside. It isn't very big overall, and you could easily see everything in an hour if you wanted to, but I took a little longer as I like to take my time and read about stuff. If you like WWII history and you're in or near Bastogne, be sure to check this place out, and if you like to take your time, give yourself a couple hours here!

Awesome display! If you want an extensive overview of military hardware, this is the place to be! The sliding doors of hal 1 open and you are greeted by the smell of engine oil and grease, AND a 152mm pointing right at you :) It's really worth every euro of the entrance fee, MUCH visit when in Belgium (or central Europe for that matter ;) )

Really nice exponation. ISU 152, IS 200, several Sherman incl different guns. Lots of howitzers and trucks. I was really satisfied with their collection. Worth a visit!

The best museum in Bastogne (must see), with a lot of armed vehicles and tanks in perfect condition. They've got vehicles from the Soviet Union, France, England, America and Germany.

Would have had a better score but the main hall was closed when we went. If you like military hardware, not just tanks, this is worth a visit. And there is an excellent Virtual Reality view of the inside of a Sherman Tank.

The Bastogne War Rooms offer a captivating historical experience, providing an exceptional educational journey that complements a visit to the Bastogne War Museum and Bois Jacques. Visitors can explore the headquarters where significant events of World War II took place, with interactive exhibits and film fragments bringing history to life. The museum's historic significance, particularly its connection to the Battle of the Bulge, makes it an essential part of a visit to the area.
Amazing to think this is where McCauliffe ran the Battle of the Bulge. Not a massive museum in itself but unmatchable in its historic significance, and part of the greater Bastogne War Museum, tickets can be bought collectively. We spent over 2 hours there.

Highly recommend! History took place here and the museum is one of it’s kind. It took us almost 2hrs with all the details and short films.

This was definitely worth a visit to Bastogne, to hear and see the story behind ‘Nuts!’ It was a creative display as you walked through the war room. Towards the end of the experience, you can leave a message on the living NUTS art display.
Rose T — Google review
The exhibition focuses clearly on a key event: the American rejection of surrender, through well staged back-screen projections in the basement that recreate the atmosphere and furnishings, of which nothing remains. The ground floor exhibition is sensibly limited to the related developments in the field, with clear interactive displays and a good selection of relevant original objects that are properly explained and set in context. A first class example of current thinking in the exhibition field, getting a lot from a little. Important: visit the main museum first to get the broader picture, then the war rooms, and lastly the virtual battlefield in the woods. Preferably on two days.
R T — Google review
The Bastogne War Rooms offer a fascinating glimpse into World War II history, with a particular focus on the Battle of the Bulge. I thoroughly enjoyed the museum, especially the engaging and informative videos that bring the historical events to life. The exhibits are well-curated, providing an immersive experience for history enthusiasts. However, while the War Rooms are impressive, I found the nearby Bastogne War Museum to be even more comprehensive and highly recommend it as well. If you're in the area, the Bastogne War Rooms are definitely worth a visit for a deeper understanding of this pivotal moment in history.
Leif L — Google review
To find the entrance is a bit tricky, since the place where one arrives, seems like an abannoded place. Once inside the route and display and what can be seen seems to very well give an impression of the stories most don't really know. Excellent display and story telling, a bit much of video... yet so little. The last room before exit will be very touching as it touche me to tears.

The War Museum in Bastogne is a great visit if you're interested in WWII, Battle of the Bulge. Its comprised of 3 separate venues in Bastogne. The War Museum, The War Room & Bois Jacques battlefeld. The original battle foxholes are still there. I highly recommend it!

It was interesting. We had a combined ticket so it was a no brainer. It is divided it two sections the main floor with al kind of stories and the basement with the actual war rooms with a interactive guide. It goes to the main floor again with additional rooms with information.

11th Armored M4 Sherman Tank

4.5
(522)
Historical landmark
Located in the center of Bastogne, there is a unique monument that cannot be ignored - the Sherman Tank. Affectionately called the 'Thunderbolt', this tank survived World War II despite being captured by the Germans during their attack on Renuamont. It stands as a powerful symbol of the sacrifices made during this significant era in history. The Sherman tank itself bears visible battle scars, serving as a vivid reminder of the devastating capabilities possessed by both sides involved in this war.
A very moving experience, especially with the damage to the side and rear..... Which shows the violence of the rounds....
Karl C — Google review
The Battle of the Bulge, fought between December 16, 1944, and January 25, 1945, was the largest and bloodiest battle fought by the U.S. Army during World War II. One of the many tanks involved in this conflict was a Sherman tank from the 11th Armored Division, which was disabled during the harsh winter of 1944 in the village of Renuamont, Belgium. The 11th Armored Division, also known as the “Thunderbolt Division,” was activated in 1942 and played a crucial role in the Ardennes Counteroffensive. The division was tasked with pushing back the German forces that had launched a surprise attack through the dense Ardennes Forest. The extreme weather conditions, including heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures, added to the challenges faced by Allied troops and their armored units. The disabled tank in Renuamont serves as a testament to the intense combat that took place during the battle. Many tanks were lost on both sides due to enemy fire, land mines, or mechanical failures exacerbated by the cold. Despite these hardships, the 11th Armored Division fought valiantly, helping to turn the tide of the battle in favor of the Allies, ultimately leading to the defeat of Nazi Germany in May 1945.

We visited the 11th Armored M4 Sherman Tank, which is a piece of history in the square for everyone to visit. The plaque reads: "In honor of the valiant men of the 10th U.S. Armored Division who gave their lives for freedom in the 1944-1945 Ardennes Campaign and in the Bastogne Area". The 1145 kilometre marker of Liberty Road is also present.

The General George S. Patton Memorial stands at the end of a large parking lot, honoring the legendary 4-star general who led the 3rd American Army from Normandy to Berlin during World War II. The memorial is well-maintained and pays tribute to General Patton's significant role in breaking the ring enclosing Bastogne and leading a counter-offensive that destroyed a portion of the German force.
Randomly located in the back corner of a parking lot but only a quick 5-minute walk from the Bastogne town square.

I thought this was tucked out of the way a little as it's in car park, and close to where motorhomes empty their waste water and fill up of fresh water. But the information board is full of info, and his craved head/face statute takes pride of place at the rear back corner.

Spooon is a remarkable dining establishment that offers an outstanding culinary experience. The restaurant takes pride in its authentic Belgian cuisine, which is exactly what customers desire in 2022. While the prices may be steep, they are justified by the high quality of the food and beverages served. Whether it's savory or sweet dishes, visitors can expect to be delighted with every bite.
Good vibes, friendly and welcoming staff, delicious cakes. Cozy and relaxing during a rainy Belgian summer.

I went with my husband, kids, and dad in the afternoon on a Saturday. It was fairly empty and our waitress was nice. However the main issue I had were the bathrooms. Neither the men's nor women's had any toilet paper in any of the stalls, nor any paper towels. I let a lady behind the counter know and her response was a bit rude, saying they already knew. I went back about 30 mins later to wash my hands and still it had not been restocked. That's completely unsanitary and a complete fail on their part. The fact that one of our orders was never put in was the nail in the coffin for this place and we will not be returning.
Megan K — Google review
We came here with a group of six. The staff were very friendly, the atmosphere was nice, and the drinks were good. Unfortunately, the food was overpriced for what you got. My Croque Monsieur was just two slices of bread with cheese and ham—not worth €9—and the other dishes at our table also felt too expensive for the portion and quality.

I stopped by a little café in Bastogne and loved it. The place felt cozy right away, but what really made it special was the service. One female server in particular stood out—so friendly, with excellent English that made chatting easy and fun. They even recommended what turned out to be the best waffle I’ve had in ages. Great coffee, great atmosphere, and truly lovely people. Really recommend.

Le comptoir du lion is a popular spot with mixed reviews. While some praise the delicious food and friendly service, others express frustration with slow service and high prices. Unbelievable...if ya eat the burger inside it´s 3,50 Euro more than takeaway. I got the baconburger for almost 10 Euro. The waitress forgot to put salad, tomatoe & Chorizo on it as was said in the menue. She had to ask her collegue if I was right, haha. And then the burger was the worst in my life. The french fries were soggy. Jesus...I thought belgian fries are the best in the world? No taste, way to expensive & bad service. Threw away half the food. My friend was disgusted as well. Bois Jacques Foxholes 101st Easy Company is a must-visit for anyone interested in military history, especially those stationed in Europe. The site, featured in the Band of Brothers series, offers a surreal experience as you walk among the well-preserved foxholes. Accessible by car and located near the Bastogne War Museum, it's an incredible part of history that's worth exploring. While the phone app providing guidance is available, some visitors found it challenging to use.
This is really moving to see. The 3D video app works great, just make sure you point at the target and stand in the correct area. The crosses were great to see. It felt like people really cared. Make sure you buy a ticket before you go. Once there make sure you use the ticket and push through quickly. If you don't it will lock you out.
Patricia P — Google review
Very well done with the follow along videos on the app. It was surreal to be in the exact spot American soldiers were during WWII. Very peaceful and reflective. I hope this history is preserved for a long time to come.
Lynn S — Google review
If you are a Band of Brothers fan, this is a must see! These foxholes are where Easy Company 101st Airborne were. You can download an app and see some recreational videos which bring the place to life. There is a break in the trees near the last video spot and you can see where the 101st advanced into the village after they advanced out of Bastogne and where Lt Spiers did his run through the German positions to ensure the attack didn’t falter.
Curtis C — Google review
It was all a little confusing at first. The fenced off augmented experience part requires a museum ticket and is easy to find and park (free). You can see foxholes for free but authenticity is dubious however the setting is awesome if you want to get a feel for the fighting that took place here with easy company and others.
Sven L — Google review
Please remember before you go there you need to go to the museum in town. Go through the museum and you get a free ticket to go in to the woods. We went straight to the woods and there was no way to get in
Joe F — Google review
You can read all about what Easy Company went through but seeing the actual area is surreal. To imagine this in freezing temperatures with hardly any cover when even in a fox hole.
Verne D — Google review
Remarkable to see the site of such bravery. Be aware you need tickets from the war museum to access the woods.
James W — Google review
I've wanted to see this location for years and it is a must stop in Bastogne. You do need to purchase entry tickets from the museum first to enter the preserved site. This particular location overlooks the town of Foy which, for those who have seen the series, will remember. Amazing to see history preserved like this.

Woods
Nestled just ten minutes from Bastogne, Bois Jacques is a poignant reminder of the fierce battles fought during the Battle of the Bulge. This serene forest, now a pine plantation, holds remnants of history with foxholes dug by the brave soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division over 75 years ago.
Bois Jacques is a powerful and quiet place to visit. Walking through the forest, you can see the remains of the foxholes from World War II. It’s very moving to think about the soldiers who fought here. The area is peaceful and full of history. A great spot for anyone interested in World War II or wanting to pay their respects. You need a ticket to get in and you can get an interactive AR app to learn more about events that happened here.
Katerina S — Google review
An amazing and touching immersion into the decisive days of the Ardennes battle and the liberation war. A genuine experience in the foxholes of the brave men who stood there, fought and gave their lives.
Fadi H — Google review
Very well kept, foxholes still in tact. Shame that you have to pay to enter, apparently it’s just a recent decision to include this site in the War Museum ticket package. I went on a sunny Sunday afternoon and it was not crowded at all. Maybe 3-4 other people there.
Reihana M — Google review
What a great experience. Downloading their app is totally worth it. It feels like you are in the battlefield with the american soldiers.

Part of WW2 history, also very picturesque, worth reading up on the history of the place in order to enhance your visit
AL N — Google review
I used to love visiting the Bois Jacques, to reflect. What a shame that it has become what it has. Today was my 4th time visiting Bastogne, and the Bois Jacques, my last visit dating back to 2022. I am disappointed. The Bois Jacques used to be one of those places that you needed to be particularly interested in a part of history to know of. It used to be open, no gate, no fences. One could visit it at any time of the day, or year. The fact that you now have to pay to access this wood is, for me, disgraceful. Not only does it now attract the wrong people -- those wishing to tick things off of their list of places visited -- but they are all on their phones. Watching a very underwhelming walkthrough of the area. I found both them, and the app, quite disrespectful towards the men that suffered and died there. Attempting to make this into one of those 'experiences' is not right.
Edward J — Google review
Interesting experience with augmented reality taking you to the very place where war was taking place - and showing you the "foxhole reality" in your crll phone. Part of the Bastogne War Museum ticket.
Joanna B — Google review
While the foxholes are very visible, this is a tourist attraction with little respect given to the men who gave their lives here. Anyone is free to walk into, around, through, etc the foxholes while posing for photos. Very distasteful on an area where countless men died. A few modifications would make this site worth the visit including defined paths, notes about the solemn nature of the site, and preservation of what’s still visible.

The 101st Easy Company-Battle of the Bulge Memorial, located in Bastogne, is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. The memorial pays tribute to the American soldiers who fought and died during the Battle of the Bulge. Adjacent to the city, visitors can explore the Mardasson Memorial and Bastogne War Museum for an immersive experience. Additionally, a visit to Jacques Wood provides insight into what it was like for soldiers during this historic battle.
Part of the Bastogne War Museum AR experience. Download the app and enter the woods to view how it was like for soldiers during the battle for Bastogne. We visited in cold December a few days before Christmas, which was also the season during the historic battle. It gave us a sense of what it must have been like for the soldiers. The sunset is incredibly beautiful here! The soldiers' memorial rests peacefully against the backdrop of the countryside. Wear boots, because there are some wet areas if it rained recently. The forest floor was covered in peat, which made it soft and mostly mud-free. Beware of branches that are tripping hazards and lots of low cobwebs. There is a warning sign about ticks, which might be a problem during warmer weather.

A beautiful monument to 101th Airborne Division 506th Battalion Easy Company and their sacrifice in the Battle of the Bulge.

The whole area will WOW you. I can’t imagine what our boys went through defending this area in the winter. Worth the trip and walk around. Holes are there but probably not the same ones but the area didn’t change.

Nestled in the charming region of Bastogne, Animalaine Asbl offers a delightful blend of education and interaction for visitors of all ages. This unique living museum focuses on wool production and textile crafts, providing an engaging experience where you can meet various fiber-producing animals like sheep, rabbits, and alpacas. The well-cared-for animals are not only beautiful but also allow guests to feed them, creating memorable moments for families.
A delightful place to visit, there is a museum in an old barn of farming life and how wool is made. Then you can go out and walk around the large pens, which contain a great variety of sheep, goats and llamas. The sheep are very attentive, especially if you buy a bag of feed from reception. A pleasant hour or so soon passes. There is a playground for little people to.
Liz W — Google review
We had a nice afternoon in Animalaine. First there is a museum of wool, then a nice walk during which you can feed the animals, and lastly a little coffee amd a playground. Our toddler had a blast.
Pawel S — Google review
All you wanted to know about wool. A mixture of museum and zoo, very educational. You can take a long walk amidst all different sheep outside. They have also a small bar.

Nice place for a visit, specially if you're with kids or if you are tired from city life and you want to be closer to nature. We saw sheep's, goats, rabbits, pigs, alpacas and liammas here. But please take into account that animals are sleeping at lunch time. There is a playground with a sand, slides and swings. Cafeteria serves local (Belgian) beer, pancakes, sandwiches and tasting plate with local sausages and cheese.

Located in the impressive Chasseurs Ardennais officers mess from 1936, the 101st Airborne Museum provides a comprehensive look at the Siege of Bastogne and the Battle of the Bulge. Housed across four floors, this museum features immersive exhibits with authentic artifacts such as weapons, uniforms, documents, and civilian objects from that era. A great piece of history in Bastogne. The exhibition is amazing; there are hundreds of objects from the era. Very well organized and displayed. And the bombing experience is really good!

This is a great museum. The exhibits were well displayed and the dioramas were excellent. Well worth the 14Euro entry fee. Free parking nearby. No need to visit the expensive tourist trap Bastogne War Museum, who even have the nerve to charge for parking.

If you are a fan of WWII, you must see attraction. If not, as well, you must see attraction. Located on 3 floors, there are so many things from WW2 and showing 101st Airborne story. Tank Turret (Monument to the US 10th Armored Division veterans)

4.4
(82)
Nestled in a grassy area adjacent to the Nurses Memorial, the Tank Turret stands as a poignant reminder of the fierce battles fought during World War II. This turret belonged to a tank from the 10th Armored Division's Combat Command B, which played a crucial role in defending Bastogne against German forces. It honors Colonel William L. Roberts and his brave combat teams who delayed enemy advances before joining forces with the 101st Airborne during this historic siege.

Sander B — Google review
Turret of an American tank which was hit by a least one shot. Most of the internals have been removed or destroyed in the impact or thereafter. Tank crews didn't last long in those days. Next to this was a memorial to 2 ladies - one nurse who was killed in Bastogne looking after US injured and the other also a nurse survived the same blast. Worth spending time reading about them.
Ed G — Google review
It is a great monument of the second world war, there is also a hole in the turret, you can enter inside to see a bit tho it is all rusty and it is hard to breathe but on the outside it looks like a real Sherman turret, tho if you want to see the whole tank, go to the barracks or the war museum

At Il Canto, a popular Italian restaurant, the lasagna is exceptionally large and delicious. The waitstaff is friendly, although there may be some delays due to shift changes. The prices are affordable for those on a budget, especially if you split the enormous lasagna. Additionally, both the food and service receive high praise. Even non-French speakers can feel comfortable here as the staff readily switches to English.
Atmosphere is nothing special. However, the food and service more than make up for that! Il Canto is far more than pizza. We enjoyed the cheese fondue. They also have a meat fondue.

most important: cash or creditcard only! what an experience, amazing service with a smile and some humor. creates an amazing vibe for the whole place. with on the house bruschetta when you go sit down and an on the house liquor for digestion when you're done eating. the quality of the food is really fine and worth the wait. it took a bit of time to get some dishes but like I said. worth the wait. happy I visited this restaurant. going home with a full belly and a smile. keep in mind that you only can pay with cash or creditcard, this isn't shown very well before you come in and you will see it on the menu.

DON’T TRUST THE HIGH RATING OF THIS RESTAURANT. Having been in many restaurants during my life, on several continents: Europe, Asia, North America, this is the FAR WORST customer experience. What was supposed to be a quite family lunch on a Sunday afternoon in the small touristic town of Bastogne, turned in to a disaster. A table for 4 was booked by phone, on arrival we were well welcomed but after that everything just went downhill on a professional level: 1. Owner said that he was told about a reservation for 3 and not 4, which was not true and didn’t change anything anyway. 2. The waitress that served us didn’t know the name of the dishes that were sold, just the numbers. She was not really welcoming and a bit clumsy. When asked if a starter dish can be transformed to a main, which is often possible in restaurants for an extra price, she got lost and said that there were not enough shrimps to do that. 3. We received our first dishes really quickly, which were 2 dishes to share for 4 people. This way of eating was not familiar to the employees, even though it is largely common in Asia. Therefore only 2 plates were given. 4. After our first dishes our long wait started, 1 HOUR for 4 main dishes, made out of simple ingredients such as rice, shrimps, chicken and noodles. After a SIMPLE AND FRIENDLY DEMAND of the owner/waiter, how much time is there left to wait? He completely lost it: -‘’ WHY, ARE YOU IN A HURRY? YOU CAME 45 MINUTES LATE AND EXPECT YOUR DISHES TO BE SERVED QUICKLY? THAI FOOD IS REALLY COMPLICATED TO MAKE AND TAKES A LOT OF TIME. IF YOU’RE NOT HAPPY GO FOR A SANDWICH IN A SNACK BAR. Never in my life have a seen this kind of unprofessional and inappropriate behaviour in a restaurant, especially from an owner. The owner justifying that it takes more time because we came, in reality 15 MINUTES LATER than foreseen, is not an excuse because the restaurant was not full, and when we arrived some other customers were already waiting for their dishes, meaning that if we would have arrived earlier they would have had more work. The owner calmed down later on, but no compensation or excuse was offered, as it would have been done in a professional and serious establishment. His insults concerning fast food and sandwich bars are unjustified, because you can also get quickly and well served in a gastronomic restaurant, this place being far from that.

great pizza, tasty 👍

The owner was very polite and eager to serve us the best way possible. He was really interested in knowing if we liked the pizza. He makes the pizzas on his own in wood oven! The ingredients were very good. There was also homemade hot sauce! Even though the place doesn't look very nice, you can definitely trust the quality of the pizzas and fast service! There is also takeaway service. The prices really affordable!
