The port serves as the heart of this picturesque village, steeped in maritime history since its first quay was constructed in 1762. I always love this place. Small city esp when you visit in September, the cozy wind completed the calmness

Magnificent place to Moore your boat . You can only go in and out at high tide . You have everything you need surrounding the port . There are magnificent places to eat and some wonderful shops . There is a place to service your boat or repair your boat . The tourist information center is right on the marina if you need anything.

Nestled in the charming town of Paimpol, Carrefour Paimpol is a delightful supermarket that promises an extensive selection of high-quality products. Located on Rue Raymond Pellier, this shopping haven not only caters to your grocery needs but also emphasizes sustainability with its Too Good To Go basket. This initiative allows customers to snag fresh fruits, vegetables, and delectable bakery items at discounted prices while helping reduce food waste.
I really like this supermarket, lits of choice, staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. Can buy food and drinks here, but also electrical goods, garden products, home and cookware, and still buy all your essentials. They have a lot of local products and the prices are competitive. Would highly recommend.
Jacqueline A — Google review
Great shopping center with a full choice of quality goods and groceries. The only criticism is as it such a large store, it could be better organized. There are several locations for several of the same type of items. Bio tomato sauce, for example can be found in several locations not at all close to one another.... But, with fantastic variety of choice and French quality, it's well worth the trouble of searching about.

Abbaye de Beauport is a well-preserved monastery and garden located in the northern part of Brittany. Dating back to the 13th century, this imposing Gothic site offers visitors a glimpse into its rich history and cultural significance. The abbey's stunning ruins and picturesque cloisters provide ample opportunities for exploration and photography. Throughout the year, various events are held at this cultural hub, making it an engaging destination for visitors of all ages.
Beautiful old abbaye with scenes straight out of a romantic era painting. The gardens and orchard is beautiful and makes for a wonderful visit.
Simon B — Google review
Excellent experience. Beautifully maintained and with clear, well composed explanations. The building is obviously a ruin but the work done to maintain it has been very sympathetically directed. Just the right degree of renovation, but with enough decay and collapse to maintain the romantic feel. We were so pleased to find such a site that we could visit without leaving our dogs in the car. They were welcomed throughout.
Simon R — Google review
A peaceful and picturesque stop. Even with a short visit, Abbaye de Beauport leaves an impression — the ruins are beautifully preserved, and the views of the sea and gardens through the old stone arches are stunning. There’s a calm atmosphere throughout, perfect for a quiet walk and some lovely photos. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Bernard T — Google review
The ruins of this ancient abbey are beautiful. In summer, we can see fruit trees and green areas with a background view of the see and islands.
Gerardo L — Google review
Lovely Abbey in the sun or rain . The lawn on the way in to the abbey in spring is a mass of wild flowers and is beautiful. The outside walks are free , but you get into the Abbey itself costs , 7€ for adults and 4€ for concessions.(2024) The ruins are architectural and very photogenic. Inside you learn of the history, with cards in different languages and an visual display showing the day of the monks who once lived there. Just outside is starting point for the Camino de Santiago. The walled garden has many fruit trees, apples and pears , bushes raspberries, red , black currants and gooseberries.. It also has various old roses , that are truly beautiful and possibly unique. There are normally exhibitions on , and when I visited , they had tapestries of satellite images taken around Brittany. These are truly amazing. There is a cafe too , if you need a break . The staff were very helpful and do speak English , if your French is not so good .

Historical landmark
Nestled in Ploubazlanec, just across the picturesque Baie de Paimpol, the Point de Vue Tour de Kerroc'h stands as a striking granite monument reminiscent of a lighthouse. Erected in 1873 on Krech Mahaf hill, this twelve-meter tall tower offers breathtaking panoramic views over Paimpol Bay and its surroundings. A short hike from a nearby parking area leads you to this scenic spot where you can enjoy the serene beauty of Brittany.
Lovely walk up there. Great place to watch boats in an out of Paimpol.
Nick H — Google review
The hiking trail from paimpol is well marked and relatively easy. Views are spectacular. I did not climb up the tower. It looked pretty claustrophobic, but views from the bottom were great. There is a route that continues on to a lovely village and the port at the point. About 7-8 miles round trip. Lovely hike and great views. Trails are yellow and also red and white blazes.
Amy K — Google review
Nice hike to get here, although the last bit is very steep. Nice views from the site. The tower itself isn't really anything to write home about.
Steve S — Google review
100m from the carpark (5 cars) with a good path, the tour is located with excellent views of Paimpol, the estuary and surrounding beaches. However many people visit Brittainy it still feels empty and this tour was a good example of this. The tower can be ascended using the spiral staircase to a lower platform. You are able to climb the upper portion as well but the top is gated. Still good fun. A secret of this area is a large picnic area that overlooks Paimpol harbour walls.

The Milmarin museum offers a splendid exhibition dedicated to Pierre Loti, providing an essential perspective and context. The museum itself is pleasant and spacious, complemented by a nearby expansive garden. Adjacent to the museum is the poignant wall of the missing in the cemetery, honoring sailors who vanished during fishing expeditions off Iceland. This memorial evokes deep emotions and serves as a reminder of their sacrifice.

(Translated by Google) Interesting exhibition on sea fishing and the merchant navy. It is fun with mini “workshops” and is well suited to children. The visit is on two floors (with elevator) and lasted 1 hour min because we did not watch all the videos, 1h30 to do everything seems reasonable. The texts are also in English. We were also well informed about other local activities. A good time (Original) Exposition intéressante sur la pêche en mer et la marine marchande. (Translated by Google) Two exhibitions were on offer when we visited this place: one dedicated to Pierre Loti and the other to the merchant navy. The 1st is very complete, the 2nd, despite an original scenography, left us a little unsatisfied: more superficial because it only skims over a few major themes (but perhaps it is aimed more at children...). The place is very pleasant and the site (against the cemetery) is really beautiful. It’s a nice outing idea on rainy days.

The Mur des disparus en mer, a historical landmark in Iceland, is a place that evokes awe and contemplation. Its significance lies in its commemoration of the numerous sailors who tragically lost their lives at sea. La Cabane sur les Quais is a charming restaurant located away from the touristy crowds, offering a laid-back atmosphere with a woodsy decor and a spacious terrace overlooking the port. The menu features delectable tapas, seafood, and steak, making it an ideal spot for casual gatherings with friends or family. While some minor service hiccups were noted by visitors, the overall dining experience was praised for its well-prepared dishes and attentive staff.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. One of the best meals I’ve had visiting Brittany! The vibe of the area was great, a market, a live band and a lot of visitors enjoying this great port town!

Very good steaks and excellent service
Andrew B — Google review
The ambiance was decent—not particularly impressive, but not bad either. However, considering the price, I expected a more refined overall experience. The food was underwhelming. For example, the tuna teriyaki was too salty for my taste, and the tuna itself was only half-cooked, which I didn’t find appealing—especially since it had gone cold by the time the rice was served. Waiting for the rice while the rest of the food sat on the table really affected the meal, as the dishes were clearly meant to be eaten together. Service was quite slow, despite the restaurant not being busy. There was a long gap between the entrée and the main dish, and the rice arrived much later than the cooked food. For someone who’s hungry, this kind of delay is frustrating. Overall, it wasn’t a satisfying experience, and I don’t see myself returning or recommending it.
Danica — Google review
Disastrous service, to many personal, not coordinated. First I was told I could sit where I want, I sat outside on the quay, but than I was told they didn't serve lunch outside. I changed table, only to see later that other people had there lunch where I was sitting before :-(All other tables had snacks ahead of menu me not. I had the formule du jour, tataki de boeuf which was good, but I had to ask for bread whereas all other tables had it without asking. I had to reclaim my beer when I got my first plate, which I hoped to drink as aperitif :-( . Than I had a filet de lieu which was minuscule, half the size of the one at the next table, the rice was supposed to be thaï, it was like glue, the vegetables were overcooked and reheated several times. I ordered a second beer which I had to reclaim twice and was served after I had finished :-( A pity that the google classification system insists on giving stars, no possibility to mark negsative impressions.
Schreiner M — Google review
All started well with fresh products, good food, nice spot and a friendly waiter. At that point we truly loved it. Then, they simply forgot about us. Had to ask for the main after a long wait, part of the fish was raw as they hurried to fix the delay but definitely very fresh (raw fish doesn't lie), one item didn't make it to the table but it did on the bill, it was promptly rectified. No meaningful apologies where given. What started as pleasant experience, ended up with stress. Really unnecessary and disappointing. Good potential but need to put their acts together.
Jean-Michel P — Google review
Great food well cooked and presented. Staff are quick in responding and caring during the dinner. Good choice of wines and superb dessert. It would deserve 5 stars unless the tables near the open kitchen suffer of the smell coming from it. If you book in advance (kindly advised to do so) all for tables far from the kitchen.
Franco P — Google review
Quaint little spot on the docks with a great atmosphere. The food and drinks were delicious! They had an amazing vegetarian dish of the day that was fresh and flavorful.
Brittany D — Google review
Decent place that's trying to do something a bit different and should be applauded for it. Nice little evening suntrap too on the West facing side of the harbour. Major let down though is the speed of service. No one minds waiting for a reasonable time but after waiting 15 minutes for our second round of drinks order to arrive and despite reminding the clearly overworked skeleton crew we just went somewhere else instead. Good concept and deserves to do well, needs to get the basics right. Edit: revisited about a year later and the game has been upped. Much better. Like they found their feet. As chilled and relaxed as before but the service now matches.

Creperie
French restaurant
Charlotte O Crêpes is a charming creperie run by Jean-Marie, Charlene, and David. Their goal is to maintain the excellence and continuity of the establishment. The bright and clean interior offers a cozy atmosphere for enjoying their specialty crepes such as andouillette or scallops. The desserts, like the vanilla and caramel boule crepe with homemade ice cream, are also highly recommended.
Amazing experience. Born in Brittany myself, I thought I knew what a good "galette" was, that was until we tasted Charlotte O Crepes' ones. Not only the presentation was great, the balance of flavours blew my mind. We didn't book a table but were welcomed anyway, the service was fast, lucky for us since we needed to catch a ferry to Brehat. I recommended the place to all my friends and family. If you happen to be in the area, do yourself a favour and stop by, definitely worth it.

Good and friendly service and nice food.
Benedikt J — Google review
There are about 1600 Creperies in Brittany so understandably each establishment has to add something different (although I maintain the traditional "galette saucisse" of my childhood can't be surpassed!) Charlotte O Crepes offers some rather decadent galettes. I have a natural leaning towards the "Ploubaz" with -you'll never guess- sausage, produced locally. Others seem just as appetising. Definitely worth a try.
Pierrick P — Google review
Decent service but very dry galettes and crepes. In the land of butter, it’s rather disappointing. I don’t recommend.

Day 2

Center of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the center side of town. Start the day off with Loguivy de la Mer, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Plage de Launay Réserve Paule Lapicque. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

La Vieille Tour in Paimpol is a historic site that greets visitors as they arrive in the town. It stands as the sole remnant of a 14th-century church, with its construction dating back to the 16th century and an added spire in the late 18th century. The tower is located in the main car park and offers a glimpse into the town's rich history. Visitors can also enjoy nearby dining options that offer professional service and refined cuisine at affordable prices.

(Translated by Google) There were three of us, arriving at 1:10 p.m. instead of the 1 p.m. time we had reserved. The friendly owner told us that we would only be able to choose from the menu and no longer from the menu. Either. The dishes were good, however I was a little disappointed by my duck breast, I had not specified the cooking (also a strange idea to ask for a duck breast in a fishing port). it was a little overcooked for my taste. I also felt like I was sitting in the way of the waiters and often felt compelled to move my chair closer to the table to give them passage. The decor was rural and pleasant. In short, the meal was warm, which perhaps justifies the rating of 4 out of five. The restaurant could be improved (the quality/price ratio is good) (Original) Nous étions trois, arrivés à 13h10 au lieu de treize heures que nous avions réservé.

Very disappointing. Is it these people are too spoiled with too many tourists or are they too limited to understand what "service" means? They don't serve what they announce outside, and it's your fault! Don't let your mood be ruined by entering this place, the lovely view on the harbour can best be enjoyed outside.

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Chapelle Saint-Michel. Not quite as popular as Abbaye de Beauport, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Chapelle Saint-Michel is a small, beautiful chapel located high on a hill on Ile de Brehat, an island off the coast of Brittany. The exterior and interior are described as austere, but the visit offers a rewarding experience with magnificent views of the surrounding rock formations. Although there are many steps to climb to reach the chapel, visitors find it worth the effort for its peaceful atmosphere and stunning vistas.
What a beautiful peaceful church, high up on the isle of Ile de Brehat. Great views and well worth the little trip up from the centre de ville. Particularly nice red roof tiles. Some of which were on the ground after the storm. Be there and enjoy 😉 ⛪️🗾🏝️

Église Notre-Dame de Bonne-Nouvelle

Church
Église Notre-Dame de Bonne-Nouvelle is the main church in town, replacing the old one near Vieille Tour. It was constructed between 1910 and 1914. The interior is quite pretty, but it's often closed, so getting inside can be hit or miss. Visitors to Paimpol are encouraged to experience the tranquility and silence here. This well-preserved sacred place withstood the revolution's iconoclasm and is highly recommended by many.

The Coupin store offers you loyalty cards but it will never give you loyalty discounts because the card is always lost!!! We therefore have to redo it every year so we always start from scratch. Crêperie Morel Ty Krampouz is a charming spot located in the heart of Paimpol, close to the marinas. The restaurant offers delicious savory crepes and a variety of cider options. Despite being busy, the service is friendly and efficient, catering to both locals and tourists. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate special requests, such as adjusting recipes for allergies. The portions are generous and the food is consistently tasty.

Pretty neat service. The staff was nice and efficient, and literally swarming the place to face the ever-growing demand of the many tourists around. The cook also accommodated with no second thought à slight adjustment to one of his galette recipes to meet an allergy issue. Only little downside was that you had to pay directly at the till, making it a little harder to properly thank your waiter, tip him or her if you feel like it (don't forget that service is included though) and potentially troublesome in case a large table wants to pay individual checks...

Pascal was fantastic, very flexible in arranging the group, made us discovered 15 wines from many regions, all at very reasonable price and, last but not least, offered us cheese as part of the testing. What an amazing time. Merci Pascal!

Restaurant
Nestled in a charming side street of Paimpol, Le Balthazar is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. This cozy restaurant, run by the talented duo Marie-Chantal and Henry, pays homage to seafood cuisine with dishes that highlight local wild fish. Each plate is crafted with care and showcases their respect for quality ingredients. Guests rave about the warm welcome and impeccable service, making every visit feel special.
A great experience for the senses. I really recommend the pork chop (400 g) with a glass of Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil. The whole family is there to provide you with professional service and delicious food. Highly recommended!

Family-type restaurant with a fairly cosy interior... the restaurant is small, but still cosy and smells of delicious food... the table was booked for two... previously warned about the delay of 5 minutes, yet the owner of the restaurant held our table, for which thanks a lot... the menu is not large, so you didn't have to choose for a long time... after a long waiting for wine and a glass of water, which I asked twice, finally starters and main dishes were ordered... I should note that the food is quite tasty, only one of the starters was salty too much for me, on my opinion, but perhaps these are just my impressions, although my boyfriend either did not really like it... before making an order, we wanted to try one dish served in a large portion, asked the lady if it was possible to reduce the number of pieces on the plate, to which we received the answer that in 42 years of work no one had ever returned the dish to the chef.... note that the menu indicates that some kind of changes in the menu are paid additionally, it's just for information... in my opinion, for that matter, I would like to pay for a reduced amount of the main course, just to try it, but this option was not offered... with wine we were served olives, by the way very tasty, but for some reason they were removed from the table without even asking if we had finished... after starters we were waiting an hour for the main course... bread served with starters was also taken away... took without asking if we were done... it's very strange... the main dish is decorated well, very tasty, while we were waiting you already want to quickly eat and leave... this restaurant tests you for patience... in my opinion, at least one person plus in service could improve the situation... fatigue and nervousness of the owner, serving people in the restaurant leaves unpleasent impressions... I'm on perpose do not indicate the names of the dishes, because each has its own taste, of all the ordered only one of the starters I've not liked... Honestly, I wanted to leave a good comment on the food, but still... I also want to note that the manner of providing answers of the restaurant owner to her customers here on the Internet, where everyone can see is unacceptable... I also want to note that even if it is realy delicious, no matter how beautiful and well served it was, service matters... I have great doubts that the chef sees and views the comments of his clients.... the owner makes a big mistake, hoping only for the luck of her husband-chef and his culinary skills... service is about nothing... the attitude to customers and the way the hostess takes criticism is just nightmare, it's hard to believe that this is possible... instead of listening to customers and improving their service, the owners chose the path of rudeness, rudeness and loss of any respect... with such success, the restaurant will not stand for another 42 years... Best regards your customers PS: Dear owners do not forget, please, your comments are read by your potential customers... rudeness and dishonesty only reduce the amount of taken money in your case

Brilliant little French bistro. Everything is cooked on the open fire in the restaurant. Menu is limited, but everything on it seems excellent. Mussels and jacket potato was a new one on me, but was fantastic. Maybe not the cheapest place, but the food is easily worth it.

The monument to Theodore Botrel, a Breton poet and composer, is a popular tourist attraction in Paimpol. Installed in 1915, it depicts the female figure from his famous ballad "The Girl from Pampol." Created by Pierre Lenoir, the monument commemorates Botrel's role as the official army bard during World War I. He was granted access to military depots, camps, and hospitals to recite patriotic poetry.

(Translated by Google) This may not be the best place to express a personal feeling, but I was totally moved by James MacKeown's painting. While passing through Paimpol, I visited the Arz Kobalt gallery by chance, during the summer. I have an artistic background but I have no technical or critical comments to make. I have lived in Brittany for 40 years, scenes of strikes, beaches, seasides, I have seen thousands. This time there was something that I had never seen before, as if this light from Brittany, so conducive to poetry, had been captured and rendered in the very material of the painting. I would just like to testify to the intense emotion and the numerous tears that came to me when faced with these paintings. There are encounters that cannot be explained. That's how it is.

(Translated by Google) Maybe a bad day, but holy crap this is the worst pizza I've ever had. In the restaurant it already smelled like cigarettes and the pizzas were cold, the onions were not cooked, the dough was not great and the quality of the products... Discount I suppose. I don't understand the positive reviews at this point. (Translated by Google) So.....it's true that it was the weekend of the old rigs' festivals but still! - The welcome was....reasonable. - The pizzas are..... homemade with fresh products, that's okay. - But then the attention to customers is zero! Barely finished our pizzas, we had to leave the table which was cleared (asked by the boss to the very nice and annoyed young waiter) even though my daughter had not finished 😳 As soon as I paid I had to push myself because according to the boss: I have another payment behind me. We had asked for a takeaway pizza at the start of the meal and we had to wait 15 minutes standing in the restaurant next to our already set table for it to be made without the boss having any problem. I was with my 75 year old mother. I would like to point out that there were always 5-6 tables free throughout our presence.

Attracted by the music, the pretty flowers on the tables and the colorful throws on the backs of the chairs, we sat on the shaded terrace. The service is fast, smiling, the cuisine is homemade with local products (the onions are even from the garden), the plates are appetizing, simple and original at the same time. The best hotel I think I’ve ever been to. The rooms had sea views, large comfy beds and nice chairs, a TV and WiFi. Some of the staff spoke good English as well which was nice to see. Staying for one night even though might have been short I felt that we got the full experience (except for sauna and hot tub) The breakfast was amazing and the 180 degrees views at breakfast is incredible! Would recommend coming here in off peak like we did as it’s quiet and cheaper. The nearby île de brèhat is also very quiet. Would recommend to anyone even if it’s for only one night. I loved your hotel!

The rooms are ok. The view is great. The rest is forgettable. There is no SPA (a tiny indoor pool with too much chlorine and an almost Sauna in an other part) The restaurant and bar is closed on Sundays… this is not 4 stars. The rooms are ok.

We had the room "New York", which is a two level family room. From both windows you have the perfect view on the sea and the island of Bréhat. We liked the room very much - super tidy and nothing you would miss. The service was exceptionally friendly and we really liked our stay. It is one of these smaller hotels, where you feel that they really care.
Alexander K — Google review
Not up to four star rating in some respects. A wonderful location for a hotel with spectacular views. Reception staff very helpful and cheerful, nothing too much trouble. Bedroom a good size and in good order, window facing the Island of Brehat. Unfortunately the hotel is let down by a distinct lack if maintenance to some of the outside areas of the building. The outside decking and furniture looks very tired and in need of refurbishment. The aluminium doors and windows that make up the restaurant are in a poor state of repair with most of the glazing units totally broken down and full of condensation. The restaurant itself is definitely not worth four stars having very limited menu choices. A drive to Paimpol is the only way to increase dining options! Some of the waiting staff could be more professional in their approach to customer service. A consistent dress code for the staff would create a better impression for guests. Overall a pleasant stay but not the four star experience that we were hoping for.
Tony G — Google review
I enjoyed the hotel but I thought the restaurant was completely awful. I would suggest to enjoy the hotel but pass on their restaurant downstairs. The service at the restaurants was extremely terrible and unprofessional. The servers acted extremely lazy and unpleasant in the restaurant. Please keep in mind we got to the restaurant early, so there was no excuse for them to provide that type of bad service. I was initially excited about eating at the restaurant because in the past we had a wonderful experience there. However the service this times was extremely terrible. So therefore I will never return there again. I also inquired about gluten-free bread but they claimed they never serve gluten-free bread at the restaurant and they acted like they were not interested in hearing about any of my allergies, which was completely different from my past experience at the restaurant. The service was extremely slow and rude. They did not provide any drinks to go with our dinner. They allowed us to start our meal with-out asking us if we would like any drinks to go with our meal. We had to flag them down for drinks with our meal. I had the impression they were intentionally providing bad service. They provided the wrong dessert and gave me ice cream completely melted, which was down right insulting. This was the first time in my life I did not leave a tip at a restaurant because the service was so crummy. It was sad that our experience at the restaurant was so awful because it over shadowed our positive experience of the hotel.

(Translated by Google) Overall, we had a wonderful evening in a beautifully decorated restaurant. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. They're not far from a Michelin star. The service was very friendly and attentive. However, there was only one waitress in the entire restaurant on our evening, so it felt a bit hectic. We had registered a gluten-free guest. Unfortunately, this was not taken into account in the dishes (zucchini on a tartlet, cookies in the dessert). Since it was "just" an intolerance and we didn't want to keep returning plates, we didn't raise it. Still a shame... Trotzdem schade…

(Translated by Google) A gourmet restaurant at gourmet prices without the typical items. Complicated dishes where the ingredients are drowned in curious mixtures. It lacks clarity and generosity in basics like the bread. A service of three tables of two, two hours, is a bit long. A visit from the chef could have been a plus.

(Translated by Google) Very nice discovery. We had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant a few days ago. Nothing is left to chance. Arrivals are staggered so that each group can be welcomed upon arrival. The tables are set elegantly. As for the dishes, each dish is carefully crafted around taste associations, texture, volumes and colors. A real pleasure (Original) Très belle découverte.

(Translated by Google) An exceptional restaurant, which undoubtedly deserves a star! We were a large table and were all seduced by the refined, elegant, and absolutely succulent gourmet cuisine. The service is as good as the dishes: the manager shows rare kindness and attention. Without us asking, she had the kindness to make me another dessert, as I don't enjoy alcohol. A memorable experience, which I highly recommend!

(Translated by Google) We went to the restaurant in the evening....The meal was wonderful....we will definitely come back....The only thing missing is the information. On the menu there was another fish than the one served and there was no information. Then there must have been clams among other things, but there were cockles. Damage.... You can read! The evening meal was excellent. We didn't complain about the other fish, we complained about the lack of information...but probably the waitress explained it in Breton???....in Spanish, English or maybe French, unfortunately there was no information....and we even know about clams, cockles, clams......but from your comment we seem to be stupid...
