The Santuario Della Madonna Del Boden is a unique religious site that is renowned for its healing water, similar to the waters of Lourdes. This small church has a detailed book documenting the properties of the underground water and visitors are even able to drink from the nearby fountain. The shrine is situated in a serene and enchanting location amidst the mountains, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and experiencing positive energy. It also attracts cyclists, both mountain bikers and regular riders alike.

(Translated by Google) The origin of the sanctuary, one of the most important places of Marian worship in the Ossola, is due to a miraculous event that occurred in 1528, when only a small chapel dedicated to the Madonna existed on the Boden (which means plateau in the Walser language). For this reason, in 1530 a small church measuring 14 by 8 meters was built, in which the miraculous image was placed. The building served pilgrims until the second half of the eighteenth century, when the original church proved to be incapable of containing their influx. It was therefore decided to build a real sanctuary: the works lasted from 1761 to 1771, and involved the construction of the choir, a sacristy and new side chapels. The current structure, with three naves, is instead the result of the expansion works carried out between 1825 and 1828. The final touches were given in the 1930s, with the lengthening of the building and its circular shape. The beautiful fresco pictorial decoration was created between 1953 and 1956 by the pointillist painter Ernesto Bergagna, of the Beato Angelico school in Milan.

(Translated by Google) The sanctuary is located shortly after the town of Ornavasso. Simple but the energy that exudes from every corner means that it is a destination for many faithful. Outside, right in front of the sanctuary, there is a beautiful fountain. Collect the water because it is a vibrational Marian water. You can then pour 9 drops for each liter so that the water is regenerated. Behind the altar, if you look on the ground, you will see different tiles, stand or sit on the ground and do meditation. If there is more of you in circulation, the energy will be higher. That is the point where 3 rivers intersect and immense energy is released from there.

The internal cave is spectacular with its striations and dimensions, lately the quarry cannot be visited because it was decided to make it a Christmas attraction, losing its natural beauty. The Catholic church Santuario della Madonna della Guardia serves as a storage place for life-size compositions for the nativity scene. Regrettably, it is consistently closed and unavailable for visitation. Its name is derived from the observation tower that stands a short distance away from the church.
(Translated by Google) The exterior of this church does not reveal at all what is inside: an exceptional baroque. The restorations are excellent, although they should be completed in different parts; however, the experience is precisely that of an art - the baroque one - that seeks to amaze. (Translated by Google) This sanctuary was also built around a primitive Marian chapel where - according to tradition - a mute shepherdess was miraculous several times by the Madonna. The project (by the Milanese Attilio Arrigoni) was decidedly ambitious and envisaged an imposing baroque construction based on an unusual octagonal plan and Greek cross. The works began in 1674 and were closed only in 1774 without the building being completely finished. In the 20th century, however, the sanctuary declined to the point of being abandoned and closed to worship. Only recently has it been the subject of major restorations which, however, have not guaranteed its regular opening. The most important work of art is, without a doubt, the altar made in the second half of the 1700s with black arabesque marble and in which a fresco of the Virgin and Child dominates as an ancona. According to some esotericists, the sanctuary is endowed with particular meanings and "energies".

(Translated by Google) We booked well in advance as we were visitors to "Santa's Grotto", there were 10 of us. As soon as we entered we were made to understand that we could only order pizzas because for anything else we had to wait a long time (there was nothing special). prepared or in any case the wait was long). We still waited more than half an hour for some pizzas to arrive earlier, others later, one cold.

(Translated by Google) The place is informal and easy-going, like the service. Even though they had booked, they hadn't prepared the table, which they set immediately anyway. Two of us ate the pasta first course, which was appreciated, while many of us opted for the pizza. The ingredients of the same seemed good, but it was lacking in thickness, so thin that it looked like a cracker or a biscuit. The price paid was average. I had trusted the previous reviews, which in this case, for me, are excessively high. Sufficient overall.

Nestled in the picturesque Ornavasso, within the Verbania province of Piedmont, Lago delle Rose Restaurant is a hidden gem that promises an enchanting dining experience. Surrounded by lush nature, this serene spot offers a tranquil atmosphere perfect for those seeking relaxation. The restaurant boasts stunning views directly overlooking the lake, allowing guests to enjoy their meals outdoors during the warm summer months.

This gem is easy to miss. Don't let the small sign and obscure gravel drive fool you. The setting is lovely with a view of the fishing pond and the mountains. The wine and food were simple and delicious. Very reasonably priced. The people were very warm and friendly. It was an unforgettable experience for our group of six. Thank you!

(Translated by Google) I have been to the Lago delle Rose Restaurant several times, it is an enchanting location located in Ornavasso, in the province of Verbania, Piedmont. Surrounded by nature, it offers a peaceful and quiet environment, ideal for those looking for a relaxing experience. Suggestive location: The restaurant overlooks Lago delle Rose directly, offering a panoramic view and the possibility of having lunch or dinner outdoors on the lake shore during the summer. It has a large internal room with about 160 seats and an additional 40 seats outside. Traditional Italian cuisine: The restaurant offers a cuisine that is inspired by local tradition, with particular attention to the quality of raw materials. It offers homemade first courses such as fresh pasta, ravioli and gnocchi, and second courses of high-quality meat, including ribs, Florentine steaks, tagliata and mixed grills prepared on a large outdoor grill, it also offers excellent fish-based dishes. Ideal for events and families: The location is suitable for groups, events, weddings and banquets. It has green spaces and a small lake where you can fish or simply relax. It is also an ideal place for families with children, thanks to the outdoor spaces and the proximity of a farm and a Celtic camp. Child seats are available. Services offered: The restaurant offers table service, a bar, buffet option and take-away service. It is accessible to people with disabilities and offers free internet connection. On this last visit we tasted a real specialty: La trota del Riscion, smoked by hand and served with fuscnète, breaded and fried in butter. An ancient dish recovered from the memory of the Walser civilization, followed by an excellent grilled trout accompanied by excellent baked potatoes. Following a bunet and a white truffle. I tasted the Primogenito wine from the Pilandro wine selection, the Lugana DOC wine is born with the first bottling of each vintage. It enjoys excellent linearity and a youth that is preserved throughout the year. Vineyard located at 60/80 m.a.s.l., South South-East exposure in clayey and clayey soil, in the southern area of Lake Garda, in Desenzano d/G. Mechanical harvest, delicate in full respect of the integrity of the grapes with rapid delivery to the cellar from mid to late September. Bottling in mid-January, with subsequent spring refinement in the bottle. Vinification soft pressing and respectful of the grapes in an inert atmosphere. Fermentation in steel at a controlled temperature of 18. The only small flaw was not brought the bucket with ice, or the glacette to keep the white wine at the right temperature, but fortunately the bottle was served at a perfect temperature. Excellent restaurant, prices appropriate to the quality of the products offered, friendly staff, always worth returning, thank you!

Day 2

Northeast side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Associazione Casa della Resistenza, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to La Torraccia Medioevale di Feriolo di Baveno. All together, your day would be filled with about 3 hours of non-stop fun.

The stunning structure, accompanied by the Memory Park, was constructed on the exact location where forty-two martyrs lost their lives in Fondotoce on 20th June 1944. Its purpose is to preserve the memory and uphold the principles of anti-fascism. Within its premises, there is a library, a documentation center, and a permanent exhibition that highlights the resistance efforts within the region and showcases the Republic of Ossola's history.

I went on April 25th, on the occasion of Liberation Day at 7 in the morning, since certain places, if visited with as few people as possible, can shine even more. Silence and tranquility help to remember why such a place exists, to remember the mistakes made, to remember the defeats and victories. I will certainly return in the future, perhaps next April 25th, because history must always be remembered. There are many memorials with plaques telling the story attached to them, sculptures and works of art. Unfortunately the structure itself which hosts exhibitions and events was closed as it followed an afternoon schedule that day. I will return to visit the internal part as well. In conclusion I think it is a beautiful place, with an important meaning and which should be visited by as many people as possible, especially in recent years, where anti-fascism is increasingly crushed and suppressed but never forgotten. Long live the resistance, always.

The La Torraccia Medioevale di Feriolo di Baveno castle is a secluded and peaceful destination, offering a serene atmosphere and a partial glimpse of the lake from higher grounds. (Translated by Google) Mentioned for the first time in 1214, the tower was probably built in the previous century by the Da Castello family or by the Milanese Church in order to control the transit routes below. The dominant position over the Fondotoce plain and the lake allowed the garrison to also be in visual contact with other positions such as Mergozzo, Montorfano, Suna and Isola Madre. Perhaps at a later time an enclosure was added which transformed it into a small castle for local defence. During the Great War the hill was then included in the "Cadorna Line" and armed with a cannon emplacement. The current state of the tower is precarious with the interior overgrown with vegetation. The barrel vault in the basement (perhaps a cistern) has partially collapsed. The roof and the two attics have long since disappeared. A situation of abandonment that does not deserve a place of ancient frequentation proven by various archaeological finds. The hill is easily reachable from Baveno (dirt road) and from Feriolo (path).

Ristorante Italia Isola dei Pescatori Stresa is a charming waterfront villa located on the picturesque Fishermen's Island in Lake Maggiore. The restaurant offers an excellent selection of fresh freshwater fish, caught by the owners themselves. Guests can enjoy their meals on a terrace with stunning views of the lake. The family-run establishment provides a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with attentive staff who speak English.
Amazing views as you sit right next to the water on this cute island. We didn’t have a booking and they were easily able to seat us inside. Most items are seafood based, we got the fish ravioli and the fish tagliatelle. Both was delicious, I loved the sauce with the ravioli. Definitely a great pit stop while exploring Isola Pescatori.

If you really want to enjoy the island (and not just be another hectic tourist), take some time in the early afternoon, look for a table on the terrace, and sit down for a proper meal. I recommend to start with the assorted marinated fish for starters, and then have the risotto. They know how to cook fish here! You can also have a glas of the white house wine with it, trust me, it goes well with it. The service is super friendly, once they realize that you actually want to taste their quality and experience in fish. I also saw some ice cream bowls for dessert being served. I did not have any, but they sure looked great. Prices are reasonable, considering the location.

Terrible experience Ristorante Italia Isola del Pescatore ! I'm usually happy to pay more for quality, but this was just ridiculous. The antipasti were criminally overpriced – we're talking about a few bites for an absurd amount of money. Then the main courses arrived, and they were a joke. Portions were incredibly small, barely enough to feed a child, let alone an adult who's paying premium prices. It felt like we were being scammed. Definitely not worth the money, and we left feeling hungry and ripped off. Save your cash and go somewhere else."

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ From the moment we walked in, the experience was exceptional. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles and made us feel truly welcome. Service was attentive without ever feeling rushed — every detail was noticed, from refilling water glasses promptly to checking in at just the right moments. The food was outstanding — each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor, clearly made from fresh, high-quality ingredients. You can tell there’s real care in the kitchen. Portions were generous, and the balance of taste, texture, and aroma was spot on. What made it even more special was the atmosphere — warm, inviting, and relaxed, yet with a touch of elegance that made the evening feel like a treat. It’s rare to find a place where both the food and service are this consistently excellent. Highly recommended — I’ll definitely be coming back!
