Hatfield House, Park and Gardens is a grand Jacobean stately home located on the site of Elizabeth I's childhood home. The house was built in 1611 by Charles Cecil and is set within the picturesque 42-acre Great Park. It features stunning examples of Jacobean artisanship, including the famous Grand Staircase and Great Hall where members of the Royal Court were entertained.
One of the most beautiful houses we have ever visited. The trip here was made so much more special by Dermot. A huge thank you for making us feel so welcome Dermot. We felt like we got the VIP treatment, you are a wonderful asset to such a magnificent house, it was a pleasure to meet you. The staff make this place. They are incredibly kind and have a wealth of knowledge. It was not busy at all when we visited which added to the charm. It’s also impeccably kept. We did the wood walk after we visited the house which I would also recommend. I was so impressed I’ll be telling everyone to visit.

What a wonderful place this is your visit, especially if you're a history lover or architecture enthusiast! I absolutely adored the rambling Gardens with a choice of different length walks, the cafe was very relaxed with a range of food and drinks but the highlight for me was the incredible tour of the old Elizabethan building by very knowledgeable and friendly Dermot! What a pleasure it was to enjoy such an in depth and interesting talk by such an experienced gentleman. We would definitely visit again!!

Visited the gardens only. Some of the most beautifully curated public gardens in SE England. Very lucky to be able to visit the East Garden which is only open to the public on certain Wednesdays. Some nice woodland walks as well although I would have to say that these aren't fantastically signposted.

It was very lovely place to visit. Free parking and only short walk to the house and gardens. Very brilliant, smiley and pleasant people work there, it was not a problem for them to help us use the lift a few times,so thank you.! It makes the visit so much easier and nicer. It's not easy to get around everywhere if you have a buggy or especially the walker.. Very recommend this place to visit!

What a gorgeous hidden gem just north of London crammed full of history. Very knowledgeable and helpful guides in each room. Check out their website as they put on ‘festival’ type events. The grounds are well kept. Only downside for me was you have to pay extra to go into the palace (£8 I believe). The ‘marmite’ fountain at the back of the house is interesting. I loved it. I will definitely be back.

I don't even know where to start to describe this fantastic place! We spent about five hours there and loved every single minute of it. There is just so much to see! We first visited the Gardens, which are stunning. Then we spontaneously opted for a guided tour of the Old Palace, which absolutely blew us away. I must admit that when we had decided to visit Hatfield House, we weren't even aware of the Old Palace and its significant history, so it felt like an extra bonus. Our guide was not only very knowledgeable, but also extremely engaging - a pure joy to listen to and get lost in the stories from days gone by. And then the house itself, which is absolutely marvellous in every respect. The staff in each of the rooms were genuinely eager to tell their story and engage with the visitors, so we were able to have long chats, which we thoroughly enjoyed! A long walk to the Oak Tree and back completed our visit, which exceeded our expectations by far. It didn't go unnoticed that unlike most historic houses in Britain, the gift shop was mostly stocked with local produce, rather than the usual souvenirs. But although we couldn't find anything to buy, we didn't even mind that. I got the feeling that despite all its fascinating history and splendour, Hatfield House doesn't seem nearly as commercialised as many similar places (we were surprised about the small number of visitors in the middle of summer), and that would actually seem a good thing. As a result, our visit had a very intimate touch, and we felt individually valued, rather than being a part of big masses of tourists passing through. Our visit turned out to be the highlight of our 10-day holiday in the UK!

Huge gardens & park with multiple routes for avid walkers / dog walking & a fantastic set up for a lovely morning / family day out. Easy parking, we visited their shops and cafe in their entry area, headed to the loo, got ice cream and made our way around their grounds in a beautiful sunny day! Might feel expensive for a walk but a worthy day out for family / friends and a great adventure location with food, facilities, and beautiful nature! Head here for a great day out when the sun is up!

You can feel the history at Hatfield house. You have the spectacular house, built by Robert Cecil, along with the old palace, where Elizabeth 1st and Edward would have been bought up. You can almost imagine them playing in the wonderful West Gardens as you walk around. The staff are full of information and love to share their wealth of knowledge, just ask. After the house, we went for a walk through the woods, down to the picturesque river. My mother is in a wheelchair, but we had no problems getting around. Everywhere is accessible. Just be prepared for some inclines in the woodland walks.

Hatfield Park is a magical destination located in the picturesque Hertfordshire countryside, steeped in history and charm. This expansive 250-acre estate features beautifully manicured gardens and the historic Old Palace, where Queen Elizabeth spent her formative years. The park has gained fame as a filming location for Netflix's "One Day," showcasing its enchanting atmosphere for events like weddings. For those looking to explore further, Hatfield Park serves as an excellent starting point for outdoor adventures.
Great place for long walks and great for kids to run around. Access to the lovely gardens.

Beautiful park. Close to the train station. I usually visit the place because every year in May takes place: The Living Crafts fair. Nice for a picnic or just to spend a good time.

The shining star right now is the woodland walk, with a plethora of wild flowers, grasses, amazing shrubs, and beautiful trees. £14 I felt was a little steep, without concessions for older folk.
Chris G — Google review
Hatfield House, Hatfield Palace and Great Hall, the courtyards and many acres of parklands are steeped in history and still home to the noble family in whose ownership and occupation has remained for many centuries. The highlight of our visit was the guided tour by the marvelous, enthusiastic and totally charming host Dermot who has a veritable wealth of knowledge, anecdotes and historically obscure facts about Hatfield House and especially Hatfield Palace and Tudor history including insights into the life and times of King Henry VIII, his six wives and the time when the palace was the home of Princess and later Queen Elizabeth the first. The amazing historical artefacts that remain cared for as they have been by the family for centuries and the friendly and very informative room hosts that bring the interior halls, galleries anrooms of Hatfield house "to life" are such a joy and their enthusiasm is as infectious as the wonderful Dermot.

Went there for Battle Proms. Beautiful grounds. Event was extremely well organised.

A great park with really good walkways, unbelievable trees and nature, and interesting stories. Definitely worth the price. You could spend days here. I had to deduct one star due to the missing benches. There are a few benches around the entrance to the park, but if you go for a walk there is not a single bench around. Would have been really helpful for my 79 year old mother. I do believe there is enough space to place a few benches along the walkways.

Beautiful gardens on a beautiful day. All staff helpful and friendly, except for snack bar staff who pretty abrupt. However, the egg sandwich was delicious. Special mention of very informative and interesting 'buggy' driver.

Indian restaurant
Nestled in the charming old Hatfield, "Taste Of India" is a modern eatery that brings authentic regional Indian cuisine and East Bengal specialties to life. This hidden gem, conveniently located opposite the station, offers a delightful dining experience where every dish is crafted with care. While the food may take a little longer to arrive, it’s certainly worth the wait as each plate bursts with perfectly balanced flavors and spices that tantalize your taste buds without overwhelming them.
Me and my family have been having Indian from here for as long as I can remember. Mo and his team and fantastic, so welcoming, so polite and the food is unreal! Look no further for a lovely dinner! Takeaway or eat in the service is class! Will always come here, love it. Thanks a lot

Had lamb Rogan with plain rice. It was one of the best I've tasted for many years. Will visit again on my next visit to St Alban's.
Bernie H — Google review
Only table in the restaurant on a Saturday evening, so the atmosphere wasn’t there. No customers is most likely a reflection of the food. The chicken in the curries tasted like they’d used frozen cubes that they’d defrosted in a sauce - definitely not the standard I’ve had in other restaurants. The sauce tasted like a sharwoods jar from Tesco. Nan breads were hard and dry. On a more positive note, the Bombay aloo was nice. Shame, as I’ve head this place used to be nice a few years back! Couldn’t fault the women serving though, she was nice and attentive.
Louise P — Google review
Tasty but not outstanding food, attentive service. Just a shame it was a bit quiet for a Saturday night! It would have been nice to see a more varied menu (Babuls of Barnard Castle is excellent for inspiration)
Louise S — Google review
DO NOT BOOK this place. We booked a table for 7pm, arrived and was told to sit on sofa and we then were totally ignored for 15 minutes whilst they took orders on the phone and served the tables. The restaurant was not even half full. We eventually asked if our table is ready can we please be seated and order as we needed to leave at 8pm for the cinema (allowing an hour for a curry is usually more than enough!). We were told we would not get any food for another 45minutes because they had accepted a big walk in. He suggested we go somewhere else… it’s Saturday night, and he had already wasted 20minutes of our time. He offered no apology whatsoever. I never complain about restaurants (this is my first ever review!) but feel compelled to let people know. (To make matters worse I am 9months pregnant and this was our last dinner together before baby so it was particularly disappointing. We told him this, and still, no apology)

The restaurant is tucked away in old Hatfield making it an gem opposite the station. The food took abit longer than expected but was worth the wait due to it being cooked to perfection, the blends of spices we’re not too overpowering but had enough kick to enjoy the dishes. A personal favour is the naan, as it was so soft and fluffy. The decor and atmosphere were also pleasant, would recommend for groups and and small parties. Thanks again to the Mo, will be looking forward to seeing you again

Visited last night (Saturday) with son. Only people in restaurant . Food very mediocre , lamb was not tender and a bit tough, sauce was ok Bearing in mind we were the only patrons the chef did not make much effort. Have had good meals there previously
Malcolm S — Google review
Delivery on time but food bland. Chicken tasted as if dropped into the sauce rather than cooked in it. Not sure but chicken dish could have been a mix of Turkey and chicken as textures totally different. Sauce lacking flavour - it’s easy to make a tasty sauce at home so expect more from a restaurant. Vegetarian dish “tasteless”

Modern British restaurant
Bar
Auberge du Lac is a modern French fine dining restaurant located in an 18th-century former hunting lodge within the Brocket Hall estate in Hertfordshire. The restaurant offers an upmarket ambiance with beautiful views overlooking the ornamental lake.
The staff were all really well trained and professional in accommodating everyone and making people feel comfortable. I was so impressed by how kind and understanding they were! I could tell their manager really paid attention to training each staff. The food was lovely, some of the best salmon dish I've ever had. The ambience was perfect as well.
Rainstone P — Google review
A fine dining restaurant in a lovely old building with beautiful views overlooking a lake. Food quality and presentation is excellent; probably the best in the area. Service now is friendly but a lot more relaxed than it was many years ago. Despite the lovely views, the decor in the restaurant feels really outdated. And the choice of 80s pop background music is quite bizarre. The lounge area, however, is much more stylish and great for a pre-dinner drink. Drinks outside on a warm summer evening are also a pleasurable experience.
David S — Google review
AMAZING! The food was superb, the view from the restaurant is stunning and the price is very reasonable. It's perfect for a special occasion! We will definitely be back many times!

Excellent meal last night. Food was very very good. Staff were attentive and looked after my wife who had a dairy allergy very well. Really nice atmosphere in the restaurant with some music in the background which I enjoyed as I don’t particularly like restaurants where I feel I can hear other peoples conversations. Only small downside is they were low on beer which considering it was 7pm on Saturday was a little strange. Highly recommend and will be back.

I visited Auberge du Lac this afternoon for a friends birthday and it was perfect! The grounds are beautiful, the food is delicious with impeccable presentation, and the service was well beyond 5*. The whole afternoon felt like a holiday! Bilal is such a kind and amazing person and made our visit extra special. Thank you so much!

Really enjoyed our meal there, and had a little walk around the grounds afterwards. We couldn't find fault with any of the dishes, and the complimentary dishes were also very good. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, just a really pleasant experience altogether.

We had a truly unforgettable experience, from start to finish we were greeted and served by incredibly attentive and friendly staff. The food was first class quality and we loved the added touches/compliments. As a vegetarian I was really pleased with how much flavour each meal packed and the range of options. My non-vegetarian partner was blown away by the freshness of ingredients and flavour of his meal too. The location feels incredibly special and the views of the grounds are just so relaxing. We will definitely be back to share this wonderful experience with friends and family.

If you want to have your Bridgerton moment, this is the place to go. Located in the old hunting lodge in Lord Brockett estate, Auberge du Lac is perfect for a special meal. We had the tasting menu and the food was well executed, good portion size. The staff were attentive. Highly recommend and would go again to try a la carte menu as I saw someone with a souffle for dessert!

Willows Activity Farm, located in St Albans, offers a wide range of activities for families with young children. The farm features over 300 animals and more than 40 attractions, including adventure play areas, funfair rides, tractor rides, and indoor soft play. Visitors can enjoy daily shows and meet-and-greets with Peter Rabbit and Friends. Additionally, the farm has onsite cafes and restaurants offering a variety of dining options.
Fantastic Day out! There is so much to do and see! We loved the shows with the cow and the sheep. The sheep race was so entertaining! The mini golf was great fun! Welcoming staff and loads of toilets with disabled access! The children will love it. Lits of tables to eat your picnic. All the rides are free! I definitely recommend this venue for a great day out!
Assia K — Google review
We had such a lovely day at Willows Activity Farm. The kids absolutely loved it — from feeding the animals to bouncing on the giant pillows and running around the Peter Rabbit play areas. There’s just so much for them to do, both indoors and outdoors, that we ended up staying most of the day without even realizing how fast it went by. Everything felt clean, safe, and well-kept, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was fine (a bit pricey, as expected at these places), but it didn’t really matter because the kids were having the best time. It’s clear that the place was designed with families in mind — it’s easy to get around with a stroller, there are plenty of toilets and shaded spots, and you never feel rushed. Perfect for young kids who love to explore and play. We’ll definitely be coming back — it’s one of those rare spots where the whole family leaves happy and tired in the best way.

Absolutely amazing place to bring the kids. I think this is about our 7th year of coming here and each time gets better with something new being added. Loads of seating, loads of toilets, loads of lovely treats, loads of great activities for the kids and lovely clean animals. I’ll be sad when the kids don’t want to come anymore. Amazing value for money

We visited Willows Farm on a Sunday for the Pumpkin Festival, and it was a lovely family day out! The pumpkin patch was beautiful with lots of photo spots, and there was even a pumpkin carving area. Our daughter loved the pumpkin hunt around the farm and was thrilled with her little prize at the end. There’s so much for kids to do — bouncy castle, Peter Rabbit shows, tractor rides, feeding the animals, playgrounds, mini golf, and rides. You can easily spend the whole day there. The only downside for us was the food. We tried one of the food trucks near the pumpkin patch, but it was disappointing and overpriced. The buns were cold, and the burgers tasted like they’d been pre-cooked. We also skipped the hot chocolate after someone in front of us returned theirs. We then went to the indoor canteen, but it was very busy with long queues and packed seating, so we couldn’t get a meal there either. It was a cold day, so a nice warm lunch would’ve made the day even better. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and loved all the activities, but the food options really let it down. We’d happily come again for the fun, but next time we’ll definitely bring our own food!

UNWELCOMING PLACE IF THERE WAS 0 stars I would give. Discriminatary behaviour was demonstrated towards us by staff. Unwelcoming. No understanding towards children. My son who was over 90cm was denied access to areas that he was actually eligible for. Do not waste your money here. Also on weekdays majority areas are shut with one staff working and the shows do not run. I forgot to take photos on the day due to stress caused but attached photos of some closed attractions including “adventure playground” “carasouls” and “playground slides”

Grandparent’s paradise - a full day of entertainment for under 9’s. Great attraction good parking, well organised with really nice staff. If it’s dry there’s lots to do. Not so great in the wet. Indoor play area and soft play is a bit tired but the kids still love it. Toilets everywhere and good quality play equipment/bouncy castles. What’s not to like?
Clive G — Google review
We recently spent a memorable day at Willows Activity Farm, and it truly exceeded our expectations! Visiting with two other families with children around 3.5 years old, we all had a fantastic time exploring the farm, especially with the added Halloween decorations and pumpkin patches for the season. Lucky for us, we enjoyed a sunny day—quite a treat for October in England—which made the visit even more enjoyable. Willows Activity Farm is packed with a variety of activities that kept the kids entertained from start to finish. 1.Animal Feeding: The kids were delighted to feed and interact with the farm animals, including goats and sheep. Feed is available to purchase, adding a fun hands-on experience for little ones eager to get close to the animals. 2.Piglet Race: This was one of the biggest hits! The kids loved watching the adorable piglets race around a small track, and the cheering made it all the more exciting. 3.Cow Milking Show: The cow-milking demonstration offers a great mix of entertainment and education, allowing kids to see where milk comes from. The setup is both informative and engaging for young children, making it a lovely learning experience. 4.Tractor Ride: A classic part of any farm visit, the tractor ride was a major highlight for the kids. It took us on a scenic loop around the farm, with plenty of interesting sights along the way. 5. Pumpkin Patch: Since it was Halloween, the pumpkin patches were wonderfully set up, allowing kids to pick their own pumpkins and take photos in a festive setting. Each child got to take home a pumpkin, which was a wonderful bonus! 6.Playgrounds and Inflatable Zone: There are several play areas with age-appropriate equipment for children, including swings, slides, and climbing frames. The inflatable play zone, with its bouncy castles and structures, was a huge hit as well and kept the kids engaged for quite some time. 7.Indoor Play Barn: A well-equipped soft play area inside provides a safe space for kids to play indoors. This is especially handy in case of rainy weather, and it offers a nice change of pace from outdoor activities. The farm’s facilities are excellent, which made it a stress-free day for all of us: • Food and Refreshments: With a food truck, café, and coffee shop, there are plenty of options for snacks and meals. The food is reasonably priced and family-friendly, making it easy to grab a quick bite or a refreshing drink throughout the day. • Clean Toilets: We were particularly impressed with the cleanliness of the toilets. They’re well-placed around the farm, so you’re never too far from one, and each was well-stocked and maintained, which is a real plus when visiting with young children. Ticket prices typically range from £20–£25 per person, with discounts available for online bookings. Special events, like Halloween, may impact ticket prices slightly, so checking the website for updated details is a good idea. Though it might seem a bit pricey at first glance, we felt that the wide range of activities and overall experience provided excellent value for money. The day felt like it was packed with entertainment and well worth every penny. Final Thoughts Willows Activity Farm is an outstanding destination for families with young children. The staff is friendly and attentive, the facilities are clean and convenient, and the range of activities offers something for every family member. The Halloween decorations added an extra layer of magic, and we’re already looking forward to visiting again for another seasonal event. In summary, Willows Activity Farm offers a wholesome, fun-filled day out that combines the charm of farm life with plenty of adventure and entertainment. Whether you’re local or coming from farther away, it’s well worth a visit for a day that’s sure to leave everyone smiling. We left with happy kids, a bundle of pumpkins, and wonderful memories. Highly recommended for any family looking for a special day out

Nast Hyde Halt, a restored station along the Alban Way, is an enchanting sight in either direction. Its exquisite renovation surpasses its former glory, thanks to the remarkable efforts of Station Master Mike and his dedicated team of volunteers. The station boasts a plethora of attractions, including vintage posters, a book detailing its history, a captivating YouTube film about the ghost train, and a peaceful wind chime that adds to its allure.
If you do the Alban Way in either direction, this beautifully restored station is an absolute treat to see. I dare say that it’s probably prettier than it was when it was in use, but Station Master Mike and his team of volunteers have done an amazing job. From vintage posters, a book, a YouTube film about the ghost train and a very peaceful wind chime it makes the station a true destination. Look out for the ghost station warning signs coming from St Albans and the Station Masters house nearby. Absolutely worth it, definitely make sure you visit if you enjoy history, walks, railway memorabilia or ghosts.

Love this place. It's right at the start of the walking/cycling path called Alban Way (from the Hatfield side), which connects Hatfield and St Albans. Nast Hyde Halt is an old disused Railway line, with the stop called Nast Hyde Halt part of the old line connecting Hatfield and St Albans I believe, and it was a stop used to bring supplies to Great Nast Hyde House. Nast Hyde Halt has been lovingly restored over a period of a few years by a local Postman called Mike Izzard and several other volunteers. They have done an amazing job and it is well worth a visit, especially if you have young kids, my young daughter loves it. There is also a local playground right opposite with a play wooden train for kids to play on. The old platform has been well restored and even today is kept in a very good condition. There are old signs etc put up on the platform to give that nostalgic feel. Even along the Alban Way, several signs are placed with signs such as "Beware Of Ghost Trains" All in all Nast Hyde Halt is well worth a visit, especially if you are a local and want to see a bit of history and love trains too. Updated 14/6/22: Still lovely to visit this place. It was a glorious day today and we enjoyed a nice walk along Alban Way after briefly stopping at Nast Hyde Halt Station. Mike, the man who was responsible for the restoration work, was there cutting the grass and keeping the place tidy. We stopped on the way back from our walk for our daughter to play on the swings at Ellenbrook playground which is right next to it.

The Alban Way is a cycle path in Hertfordshire that has been constructed along the route of the former Hatfield to St Albans railway line. Along the route there are a few disused platforms in various states of disarray but then, in complete contrast, there is this Halt; lovingly restored by Mike Izzard. Clearly an enormous amount of time, effort and money has gone into bringing this Ghost Station back to life - well appreciated 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

University of Hertfordshire

University
The University of Hertfordshire is located in the Old Hatfield area, which is known for its historic buildings such as Hatfield House and St Etheldreda's Church. The university's Sports Village on the Havilland Campus offers a range of facilities including a gym, group exercise studios, swimming pool, and squash courts that are open to both students and the community.
Had an amazing time exploring the University of Hertfordshire campus! 🌳📸 From the modern facilities to the beautiful green spaces, every corner has something to offer. I loved walking around, imagining what it would be like to study here. It's such a vibrant place, filled with energy and opportunities.

A great place for learning, growth, and new experiences. The campus is well-organized, with good infrastructure and plenty of green spaces. Faculty members are knowledgeable and supportive, and the academic environment encourages both personal and professional development. It’s also a safe and vibrant space for students, with libraries, cafes, and study areas that make it ideal for solo or group learning. Overall, a solid choice for higher education.

"I recently graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with an MSc in Management, and my experience has been exceptional! The university provides a fantastic learning environment, supported by dedicated and knowledgeable staff. The Management program offered a well-rounded curriculum, blending academic theory with practical skills that are highly relevant in today’s business world. The faculty were always supportive and approachable, ensuring we had the resources to succeed. The diverse student body also added to a rich learning experience, allowing for great networking opportunities. Campus facilities were modern and well-maintained, and the university's location made it easy to explore nearby London. Overall, I highly recommend the University of Hertfordshire for anyone looking for a comprehensive, forward-thinking education."

The University of Hertfordshire offers a diverse academic environment with modern facilities and supportive staff. Its focus on employability ensures students gain practical skills for their careers. However, some may find the campus layout confusing. Overall, it provides a solid educational experience.

A great place for international students. The university is well structured with great resources and infrastructure. Faculty members are very supportive. They provide the opportunities to explore the ideas into implementation. personal and professional development. A best place for every student.
Kashmir H — Google review
My experience at the university has been largely positive in terms of teaching quality, campus life, and the general facilities available. Most lecturers are knowledgeable and engaging, and there is clear effort put into ensuring students have access to a wide range of academic support. The campus itself is modern and well designed, with a good mix of study spaces, libraries, and recreational areas that cater to different needs. Facilities like the gym, student union, and labs are well maintained and contribute positively to the overall student experience. HOWEVER! Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the university’s accommodation, which has been a consistent source of stress and frustration. Maintenance is severely lacking - I was left without hot water for nearly a month despite submitting multiple complaints, and the issue was only addressed after prolonged inaction. The accommodation team imposes extortionate charges for so-called 'damages' that are nothing more than normal wear and tear. It's not uncommon to be billed £70 or more for something as minor as a loose tile. Noise levels are constantly high, even during the early hours of the morning, and any complaints to security are routinely ignored. To make matters worse, the accommodation team is completely unwilling to allow students to dispute these charges, regardless of how unreasonable they are. Overall, the standard of living in university housing falls far below what should be acceptable.
Ems G — Google review
A great citadel of learning with quality academics activities. The beautiful sunshine on campus added to the positive atmosphere, making it a lovely day overall. I feel grateful for supportive educators and a welcoming university community.

Nestled within The Galleria Outlet Shopping, "Get Wild!" stands out as the ultimate indoor adventure playground in Hertfordshire. This jungle-themed haven is a magnet for families, having welcomed over 400,000 children who delight in its vibrant atmosphere. Designed for kids aged one to twelve, it features an exciting array of tunnels, ropes, and slides that promise endless fun under the watchful eyes of their guardians.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Get Wild Indoor Playground is an excellent place for children to enjoy, explore, and play in a safe environment. The play areas are very well-designed, clean, and full of exciting activities that keep kids engaged and happy for hours. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the facilities are well-maintained, which gives parents peace of mind. A special mention goes to the staff members, Angela and Nadia, who were incredibly kind, professional, and attentive throughout our visit. Their friendly approach and genuine care made the experience even more enjoyable for both the children and adults. A fantastic venue for families, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, safe, and well-managed indoor play centre.

This is the place to be with children, on a rainy Saturday. The place is suitable for children over the age of 5, there are places for parents to sit around. The ticket must be bought in advance, on the venue's website. You can enter only with the QR that you receive on your cell phone, after payment. The price is £5 per hour. worth every penny. The adults can in the meantime work on the computer, drink coffee from the cafe next to the playground.

Kids love it here. Plenty of seating for adults while kids run free. Reasonable prices and there is a lot to do. Slides, climbing. Separate little area for younger toddlers. Well maintained playarea. Booked a slot online. Very quick and easy process.

Warning - be very careful if booking Get Wild at Hatfield Galleria tickets through eventbrite, terms and conditions of sale state "Refund Policy: Refunds up to 1 day before event" however, despite cancelling 3 days in advance, it has been impossible to obtain a refund from Get Wild or Eventbrite. This happened in August and I've been chasing since then. All forms of communication have been ignored by Get Wild and with Eventbrite, I am going round in circles. Having checked online today (14th Oct), it seems they no longer use the Eventbrite platform for bookings. Looks like we won't be getting a refund, only £24 due back so not a lot but it's the principle of complying with the T&C's on our part but they fail to do so.

Visited on a Tuesday afternoon and it was empty had the whole place to ourselves which was nice. Two ladies sitting at the desk, chatting away to each-other and looked like they couldn’t be bothered to be there, went in and was a bit disappointed at the under 3’s playing area, there was not a lot to do at all, It’s definitely more suited to older kids I would say 5+. You can tell cleaning is awful as I found drink lids in the under 3s area which is so unsafe, got rid of it myself and checked around before putting my baby down. Other then that the place has plenty of seating area inside, is very spacious and cheaper then a lot of other soft play areas.

Nice soft play. Limited to 1h. £6 for a 6-year-old. There is no charge for parents. There is sitting available for parents but no food or drink sold in there but you can bring your own. You need to book in advance as tickets can't be bought there. It was very busy on a week day during the holidays and tickets sold out and we had to buy them for the following day. All the installation was in very good condition. Staff friendly. Toilets nearby.

Love this children's amusement center as it is easy for the kids to integrate and play with other kids while you can still keep an eye on them. I also love the Costa Hut that makes it easy to enjoy your favourite drink while the kids are busy playing. The staff is so enthusiastic and encouraging to the kids that help them to try all the activities. A bit expensive but also very convenient.
Astir A — Google review
My little daughter 4 years old had so much fun, the only think I would like to improve this places is to replace someone part of the slide for some windows then you can see where is your child and also the kids don’t feel scared to try it, we will be back 😃🙌 The parking in this centre is free the first 3 hours.

Wagamama Hatfield Galleria is a vibrant casual dining spot that brings the essence of Asian cuisine to life in a Japanese-inspired atmosphere. With its long communal benches, it fosters a sense of community while you enjoy an array of dishes. The menu has evolved to feature 50% plant-based options, ensuring there's something for everyone—from flavorful noodles to spicy rice bowls. A standout dish is the iconic katsu curry, beloved by many.
Me and my friends came for a celebration. Waiter I think cat was very accommodating and prepared our surprise wonderfully. Staff was very kind and attentive.sorted out any issues efficiently. Manager I think Joanna was very lovely , listened to us and extremely generous.everytime I come food and service is great, thank you !

You come for the food - which rarely disappoints. It’s fresh, the selection is good - and it tastes great. Have been to multiple Wagamama’s many times. I get the casual dining thing; and I’m fine with that. But I do feel that often staff can use this as a get-out for poor service. Often there’s this awkward wait on arrival before someone notices you. We were taken to our table and left with no menus. There seemed to be few staff around - and they were at the bar or by kitchen (it was not busy). We eventually got our menus; and then three staff came in quick succession before we’d had the chance to decide. Drinks took ages - they were sat on the bar ready. My wife actually got them herself. Food arrived, as it does (staggered and when ready - I’m totally happy with this). Food was good as always. I do like the ability to pay at your table with the QR code. This at least avoids the need to find staff and ask for the bill. The bill splitting options are also great for situations that require that. Come for the food, not the service or atmosphere.

I recently visited Galeria with Hadis, and we really enjoyed the food. Elie, the manager, was very nice and made sure everything was handled properly. My food arrived a little later than expected, but that’s completely understandable—mistakes happen, and we’re all human. Overall, it was a good experience, and I truly appreciate the service. Thank you!
Amir N — Google review
Really nice branch! Food tasted lovely and arrived in good time. The service overall was very good, however, if I was being picky the staff could have noticed a few things. For example we didn’t have chopsticks or cutlery at our table and the waitress began clearing plates away while I was still eating, which in my opinion is not great front of house etiquette. Nevertheless a great experience at this Hatfield branch and if I’m in the area again I’d consider dropping in for a bite.

We stopped of for a little lunch break while shopping. The restaurant and are table was clean, the young black lady was very friendly. The food was delicious and so fresh, the Cha Han Chicken amazing! Unfortunately, the duck gyoza tasted like the meat filling was cooked from frozen, which effected the frying of the pastry, making the outside wet in the middle and crispy at the ends.

It would be nice to have a bigger portions, lots of pak choi less spring onion and big piece of salmon. Today I was more disappointed. I found only one pice of Pak Choi in my noodles 🍜 Tharu was excellent. Serving with smile also she is very polite. ❤️ I told my concern to Tharu. She said that she will tell the chef 👨‍🍳 03.08.2025

Indian restaurant
Spice Field is a popular Indian restaurant known for its mouth-watering dishes and variety of options. Customers have praised the delicious curry, tandoori chicken, chicken biryani, peri peri wings, grilled fish, mutter paneer, and chilli chicken. The portions are generous and not too oily. The non-veg options are halal-certified. Many customers have had positive experiences with their orders being delivered hot and tasting great.
We ordered from Spice field through the JustEat app. Non-veg here is halaal. We ordered Tandoori Chicken & Chicken Biryani. They were delivered hot. All three items were tasty. I will order once again from here for sure. They have a variety of tandoori, Biryani, rice, bread, kebab dessert, and vegetarian dishes.

DON'T BOTHER GOING THERE. WASTE OF MONEY Went there thinking I'd get some Indian food but saw butter chicken on the menu and was like "oh I want that" so I ordered and paid £10 had to wait for like 10 mins, took it home and tried it, it was not butter chicken, honestly idek what it was, didn't taste or look like it. So I took it back and said it's not butter chicken so he opened it to check, and said he'll make it again and give. But when he made it again I said I want to try it first, and he was like "you don't trust me? I made it right" so I tired it anyways and it literally went from some random chicken curry to another random chicken curry (this tasted like spicy coconut curry with chicken pieces).

Unfortunately Spicefields restaurant did not deliver any food, and still made a charge to my account which I am now having to resolve with my bank. Here is the situation, in detail, as it unfolded: 1. On 26th April I made an order for food with the restaurant shortly after 5pm, and received a notification through the site that the order had been accepted and that I would receive updates. 2. Around an hour later I still had not received any updates and the food had not arrived so I phoned the restaurant. They asked my address and then confirmed that the food was on its way and would be with me shortly. 3. Another hour went by and nothing had materialised, so I phoned the restaurant again, only to find that the person I spoke to this time said that no such order had been placed and could not find any information about it even though I provided the order number and reference I had been sent via email, and explained that I had spoken to a previous person who had confirmed its delivery. I was now being told there was no evidence of any order. 4. Later at around 9.30pm I received an update via email saying that the order had been listed as 'not_possible' on the system. 5. Checking my account two days later I was astounded to see that a charge has now been made to my account. I now have the hassle of having to have the charges reversed via my bank due to being charged for a meal which never turned up, on top of being told conflicting information by the restaurant over the phone. This unfortunately summarises the extremely poor experience with trying to order food with this restaurant.

Pub
The Colney Fox is a charming country pub located on the outskirts of Kinsbourne Green, Harpenden. It boasts a cozy atmosphere with wooden beams, a curved bar, and comfortable banquettes. The pub also features a leafy beer garden and ample parking. The interior has contemporary touches while serving delicious pub classics. Dogs are welcome in the bar area and outside seating where the same menu is offered as in the restaurant.
A really nice and huge pub. This was our first time at this pub. We loved it. The food was very good, especially my rib eye steak because it was cooked to perfection. Our young waiter was the highlight, as he had the right amount of rapport combined with a want to provide a great service. And he did!

Very cosy pub to spend a Saturday/Sunday lunchtime hour. Had a lovely lunch time meal there which we enjoyed. The mains we had were absolutely delicious and clearly a winner. The fish and chips and the steak especially were really good! The kitchen though was let down by the starters…the three we tried were quite disappointing. Tiny portions, cheap fried food, and generally felt very sub par so I would encourage the establishment to look into their starters menu. Overall vibe and ambience of the place was alright. Very lukewarm, the tables are quite cramped, there was no music playing in the background so could get very loud when families with very excitable children were making a mess of the place.

I've called in before when staying in the area and on.that occasion I gave 1 star. Now, any person revisting a pub/restaurant would hope thay they have learnt from previous poor reviews. Clearly not. The chicken burger was dreadful. It's probably the poorest example I've ever had. The bun was dry, not even toasted. The amount of chilli jam was almost non-existent. The chicken burger was burnt and uneditable. The chips were lukewarm. I'll stop there as the service was no better. In the end, I had to ask for a refund as I've never had such poor quality of food. Images are to highlight how poor the quality was.

We took our family here recently at the weekend and had a really great lunch. The boys enjoyed their food from the kids menu. Our fish and chips was totally delicious (one of the best in a long time) and very generous size portions. But on top of this Georgina who was serving our food was an absolute gem. She couldn't have gone more out of her way to help us. She was friendly and assisted in any requests. She gave the boys colouring sheets and crayons. And helped to warm some baby food for my 7 month old. Good service and good food made for a fantastic lunch hence the good review. Thanks!

Outstanding evening, top notch service from the friendly welcome from James to the wonderful niaomi taking our order and serving our drinks. Sorry to the very bubbly young lady bringing our food out she was lovely sorry I didn’t catch her name. The drinks nice and crisp refreshing, the food was the highlight for me, I had the new salmon fillet it was outstanding fell apart full of flavour and looked so damn good on the plate! My wife had the katsu chicken curry which she also enjoyed very much also a very pretty dish the presentation was very high quality. Thank you to the full team at the colney fox for making this a great experience for us will definitely be back again

A nice pub in a lovely location, I have been here numerous times over the years. The food is decent, as expected for a pub. Quite expensive for what you get and the portion sizes are notably smaller. Service is good and the staff are very friendly but there seems to be too few staff. The food took a while to arrive even when the pub wasn’t very busy. A nice pub to visit with a decent garden, parking and lovely local walks.

Absolutely atrocious experience I'm afraid. The table we'd booked in advance was not available. Only place to wait with older and younger people was in front of a blaring tv showing football. Eventually we got seated 20 minutes late. The table we got was dark. Seriously hard to see anything. And dirty. There were brown food smears on the table. The windows were filthy. Eventually ordered and it took over an hour for our food to arrive. There was 15 mins between the first and last items arriving. So much of it was lukewarm at best. We ordered coffee and dessert [foolishly, but older and younger people are going to make rash decisions]. The coffees came promptly. The desserts 20 minutes later. So all the coffees were long finished. Food quality was below average even if it was not absurdly late. Full lunch experience was over 3 hours. Closer to 3 and a half. I have no confidence in this place to deliver acceptable food in a useful time frame.
Tom K — Google review
Went there with family for Fathers' Day lunch. Not impressed. Terrible service! Even after we were sitted, we had to get the attention of a staff before we could get our drinks order taken. The tables and chairs outside didn't look clean. Most had bird poo on the seat and backrest. We were not given napkins, and they kept supplying the cutlery late... after the starter and the main. Something we ordered was missing from our order and yet it was added to the bill. We ordered another pint of beer and soft drink that never came. Long waiting time between meals, and for our tables to be cleared. Not a great atmosphere. The food looked good, but nothing special. A little tasteless, to be honest. Will not be going back, and cannot recommend.

I went there and asked if I could use the toilet, which I went into after the bartender weirdly gestured me towards it. After about 5 minutes I hear knocking on the door of my cubicle telling me to get out and leave. As I went to the bar and asked what the issue was I was told to get out and never come back again. Beautiful and unique natural park. Soon to be enhanced with a 30 year quarry operation and landfill thanks to Hertfordshire's Tory Councilors. As always, they work tirelessly for the benefit of the local community. Brett Aggregates will do the digging and dumping.

Flat, grassy fields interspersed with a few trees and that's about all. Shame about the lack of signage (although there were a couple of maps... take a picture on your phone!).

The Old Palace at Hatfield House is a remarkable historical site steeped in Tudor heritage, where Queen Elizabeth I famously learned of her ascension to the throne. Visitors can embark on engaging tours led by passionate guides like Dermot and Georgina, who bring the rich history of this medieval gem to life. The palace is not only well-preserved but also family-friendly, making it an ideal destination for all ages.
The Old Palace tour at Hatfield was my absolute favorite. The tour guide Dermot was wonderful. Best tour ever. He loved his job and it’s obvious. Try and do the Old Palace Tour if possible! Thank you Dermot!

Had an incredible time doing the Old Palace Tour of Hatfield House. Our tour guide was Georgina and she was fantastic. We saw all the medieval history of the Tudor dynasty and where Queen Elisabeth I & Edward IV grew up. I recommend this tour for any history nerds like me. It's only £6 so you can't go wrong!

Very well maintained place full of history, heritage and beautiful paintings. Kids friendly place. Family friendly place too. Very clean and tidy. Washrooms are on the first floor which has to be reached by the wooden stairs upwards.

Hatfield Park Farm

Farm
Hatfield Park Farm is a charming 25-acre countryside farm located on the west side of Hatfield House. It offers a delightful day out for families, with reasonable entrance fees that include access to a variety of animals and a large play area. Visitors can enjoy a tractor ride around the park and explore the bloody hollow play area, which is perfect for kids to run off steam.
This was a great day out... Arrived early to make the most of it. Fees for park and play area were very reasonable. Nice selection of animals to see and lots of open space and children's play items in between to keep them entertained. Enjoyed the tractor ride around the park. But one of the children was sad the train was gone. Very well kept and maintained park. Staff were very happy and helpful. Will definitely be back.
Latoya Z — Google review
It's a nice, quiet, and spacious farm. There are a surprisingly good number of pigs for some reason. The toilets are portalets that don't have water so be wary. There's no cafe inside the farm, but there are picnic areas. A nice train, and a tractor ride. Overall, a good place to chill out with the kids.
Alan G — Google review
A nice farm. Lots of animals and tractor and train and playground. Fairly cheap too at £5 per person. But no where to eat. Nearest is Hatfield house a short walk away.
Yee C — Google review
Great place to bring the kids. Outdoors, with animals and lovely play area. No dogs permitted in the animal farm and play area, apart from guide dogs. Simple, but ample facilities.
Daniel D — Google review
Such great value compared to other park farms. It is smaller than most but this is great for the attention span of young children. The tractor ride is also included and the children love it. Bloody Hollow play area is best for 3 or 4 plus but is great. Take a picnic as the cafe is a long walk away with small children
Helen T — Google review
Lovely place to go with your family. Great range of animals all happy to see you. Entrance fee reasonable with a ride of the tractor and this also allows you on the huge play area. If you dont fancy the farm you can just pay a pound and go to the play area have a picnic and enjoy the view. Toilets yes there are there but it's a bit of a walk to the beautiful Stable Yard but a lovely walk it is..also there is a place to eat but that can be expensive so my top tip is bring a picnic and relax in the huge grounds of Hatfield House.
Isamog R — Google review
Great place for kids of many ages, accessible for pushchairs. Lovely tractor ride around the park included in ticket price. Entry to bloody hollow play area also included, once the kids have seen all the animals they'll spend hours running off steam in the play area. Usually a coffee cart and ice cream van for refreshments and benches are available in the play area for picnics.

Had a lovely visit this afternoon 08/09/2019. Loved the animals particularly fond of the very friendly goats!! Staff were very friendly and and showed great care for the animals. CJ birds of prey there too made it excellent value with Bloody Hollow included our daughter had the best day.

Sunday lunch was really good except the Yorkshire pudding….. it was hard and think was pre cooked, would have been better fresh.

Disappointed- extra slice of half stale bread for £3.50. Cold wedges for 350. Cleaning you’re already clean table while you sitting there. No one asks you how the food is and takes your plates before you have finished. This was much better before it became River cottage although I really admire what the River cottage brand is about, shame it doesn’t live up to this.

Used the cafe while visiting the Frost fair and i have to say it was terrible. The service for food and drinks was slow, I ordered a hot chocolate with extra luxury orange etc what we got resembled dish water and tasted like it too. Asked for 2 bacon rolls only to be told that they had run out - you had only been open 90mins so who's the idiot that didn't order enough. So 2 hot drinks and 1 bacon baton and I was charged over £11 what a rip off. We will not be back in a hurry.

ROAST DUCK INN is a popular spot known for its generous portion sizes and affordable prices, making it perfect for a quick and satisfying meal. I order the beef chow mein and instead got egg fried rice I’ve never had it before and I didn’t like it the dish was quite plain and also the wrong dish, and the dry barbecue rib is quite plain. Sad to say it was a waste of my money. As nice as it looks it was very plain.

I had ordered from here first time via ‘Just Eat’ and I wasn’t disappointed. Absolutely delicious hot food, early delivery by 25 minutes … on a Friday! Big plus for me was the choice of thick and thin noodles for the chow mien. Not many places does thick, my preferred noodles. Will defaintly order again from here and will be my main go to. Wish I could give more stars!

Absolutely brilliant the food is never burnt, the food tastes just right, the people are friendly and I have been there numerous times with other people. "The Great Northern" is a cozy pub located conveniently opposite Hatfield train station. It offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff. The pub has a nice outdoor seating area and a fireplace for the winter months. Visitors can enjoy pints of Guinness and beer while watching sports on TV. The food served is delicious, and the staff are attentive, making it an ideal spot to unwind after a long day or to meet up with friends.
Popped into The Great Northern for a drink last night. Myself, 3 children (18yrs, 9yrs and 9mths) my brother and our parents. We were greeted by a lovely lady (assuming the owner) who was very welcoming. It was clean, tidy and had a great atmosphere. Would definitely go back.

Extremely disappointing food. I ordered the jacket potato with coleslaw and side salad. The food took 30 minutes to come out and was some of the worst pub food I’ve had in a while. The coleslaw was nasty and the side salad looked super sad (see photo). Would not recommend for food. The cider was tasty, but that’s not their doing really.

Spent time at this pub last week after a funeral at the local cemetery. I can't praise the staff ( especially Lee) enough for their excellent service and they couldn't be more attentive. They provided a warm , welcoming atmosphere at a very emotional time with excellent food. It was busy fully packed, Price for drink was good, overall very good, thank you

We had a great night here, a friend had returned from Poland so we decided to meet here. Very convenient placement 2 minutes from Hatfield train station. Had a chat with the bar, both very nice people, polite and welcoming. I hadn't been there since my 20's and had been there for my 18th birthday. Sports are shown here with a decent amount of seating, not the biggest place but gives a more intimate feel. They do have seating behind and some out the front. Well worth a visit if you're in the area, or need a place to go out that you can all safely cross a road and be at the train station in no time. Toilets are upstairs, but a disabled one is available at the back opposite the bar.

Well a curious night as on arriving having booked a table for 2 way in advance, there was a lack of chairs 😳 The restaurant had overbooked as it was heaving. Finally received chair we did eat very well, the food was delicious 😋 Service ok as it was far too full and staffed were stressed. But very kind and thoughtful to ring and let us know my husbands spectacles behind 🤗

I love a good curry and believe me this place served us one of the best we have had in a long time and we go to all the best curry restaurant s in LEEDS and Bradford. Authentic taste cooked by Indians who know how it should taste, the service was great and the price with drinks for 3 of us was £50, a must if you're in the area. I visited this place again 8 months after my last visit and I was left wishing I didn't live 200 miles away, the staff were charming and helpful with choice and the food was delicious truly mouthwatering. I wasn't that hungry but it was impossible to leave any. 5 stars all day long.

Heartwood Forest, located near Sandridge, is a vast 347-hectare (858-acre) site and the largest continuous new native forest in the UK. The majority of the forest is newly planted, with sections of ancient woodland. It offers peaceful walks through oak, birch, and willow trees as well as wildflower meadows. The site features open grassland and woodland habitats, making it an ideal place to reconnect with nature.
Very pretty walk. Animals allowed. Well paved walkways, also some grass / muddy trails if bit more adventurous. Didn't see any bathrooms around the though. Big car park. Many different trails and routes with maps everywhere. Well worth it. Very close to the high Street aswell with 2 pubs and a cafe
Travis D — Google review
A young forest that only came into existence recently, Heartwood Forest shows all the promise of a place that's idyllic for a walk, exercise, picnic or a place to sand away a few hours with a good book or catch up with friends. There are objects dotted around the forest - some of which have had some real imagination put into them, with the arch being a personal favourite of mine. The Bluebells are the real draw here and to see them in full bloom is a real treat for the senses, though it helps to know exactly at what time of the year the flowers bloom. The benches scattered around the forest provide spectacular views of the green carpeted landscape which, on a blue tinted sunny day makes for a delightful view, wherever you choose to sit. It may be young compared to some of the ancient forests we have across the UK, but Heartwood Forest is a place everyone should come and visit for something a little more varied.

Brocket Hall is an 18th-century estate that offers chic dining, golf, and corporate function facilities. The property features two championship golf courses named after former Prime Ministers who resided at Brocket Hall. The estate also offers walking routes through the picturesque village of Ayot Green and the surrounding parkland. With its historic grandeur and traditional butler service, Brocket Hall is an exclusive venue perfect for history enthusiasts and those seeking a romantic backdrop for weddings.
Palmerston Golf Course @ Brockett Hall provided us with a well manicured and a picturesque setting. The undulating and changing landscape provided us lots of fun and excitement during our game which we chose to walk. Highly recommended. Great course and country estate location only half an hour’s drive from north London

This hotel was an awful experience, I had insects flying on me whilst I was in bed, no sleep, then I realised the insects were coming in from outside as the large sash window had been left open prior to my arrival and during my stay. I had not realised as they were covered by a voile and I arrived in the dark. This is not safe as it was a ground floor room easily accessible to anyone at street level. I informed reception at 7am and got an unsympathetic unhelpful response. I have contacted staff multiple times and been ignored completely. Avoid this hotel, it is filthy and dusty and there is no customer service process, they clearly do not value customers.

I had the pleasure of attending The Grass and Co English Legends Tour at Brocket Hall last weekend, and what an incredible experience it was! I was lucky enough to take part in the Pro-Am, which was an absolute highlight — playing alongside such a talented professional and enjoying the stunning Palmerston Course made it a truly memorable day. The hospitality throughout the event was first-class, with every detail taken care of, from the warm welcome to the excellent food and drink. The atmosphere across the whole tournament was fantastic, with friendly volunteers, great organisation, and a real buzz both on and off the course. Watching the legends of the game up close was inspiring, and the quality of golf on display was exceptional. A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this such a special event. I can’t wait to be back next year to enjoy it all over again!

J P — Google review
Disappointing Experience at Brockett Hall I was invited to play a round of golf at Brockett Hall, a venue I’d long been curious about given its rich and colourful history—particularly the tales of Charlie Brockett and his Ferraris ending up in the lake. With that backstory, and the allure of the Palmerston course, I arrived full of anticipation. Sadly, the experience was underwhelming from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, things started going downhill. Signage directed us to a drop-off area where I expected some kind of welcome or assistance. Instead, we were met by staff who appeared more interested in smoking than helping. When I asked where the clubhouse was or how to access our golf cart, the response was vague and unhelpful—“somewhere around the corner.” Not a great first impression. The clubhouse and pro shop were surprisingly small and lacked the service you’d expect from a venue of this supposed calibre. Staff seemed disinterested, and it felt like we were inconveniencing them just by turning up. On the course, the only bright spot was the starter—friendly, warm, and genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, the course itself didn’t live up to expectations. The Palmerston felt tired and poorly maintained. Paths were scruffy, the fairways lacked care, and the overall upkeep of the grounds was disappointing. For the price being charged, there are far better options locally—courses that are in better condition, offer a more enjoyable round, and provide far greater value. It’s a shame, because Brockett Hall clearly has the potential to be special. Right now, though, it’s falling far short. I can’t help but think Charlie Brockett would be dismayed at the current state of his former home.
Karl B — Google review
I exhibited at Brocket Hall’s Wedding Fair in March 2025 and booked again for November. Unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing. In March my table was placed in a low-footfall area and on the Sunday I was left exhibiting alone after another supplier was moved outside. Despite generating a few leads, none converted. For the November show, I paid promptly, but later had my booking cancelled by the events team without any clear contractual basis. This was particularly frustrating as I had already invested in leaflets, canvases and display materials. Communication throughout was poor, messages between staff were inconsistent, and on several occasions the main contact number routed through to the golf shop rather than the events team. Brocket Hall’s communication repeatedly emphasised that poor attendance at the March fair was due to suppliers not sharing the event enough on their social media channels, rather than addressing the wider issues of promotion and organisation. I feel the handling of this has not reflected the professionalism or reputation one would expect from a venue of Brocket Hall’s stature.

One of the most beautiful park's I have visited in the south east. There are lots of stuff to do in this park such as boat riding, climbing, as well as other activities. The park is very big and has wonderful scenery, especially when you're at the top near the woods. Ideal place for photography as you'll get 10/10 picture's. Beautiful place in general. Had lots of fun boat riding which is only £5 for half an hour. Great place to go with family and friends, especially on a sunny day where you can have picnics. In conclusion great park would deffo reccomend visiting.👌👌

For example, the public footpath under the bridge on Great North Road used to occasionally flood in the 80s and 90s, but now it is constantly flooded due to the build-up of stones and debris. There are no warnings for the public about the risk of Weil’s disease, especially with the number of rats running rampant in the area. In its heyday, the waterways were clear, and my relative reminisces about the reed beds that once existed and the fun they had near a now-buried footpath. There used to be a lovely bridge crossing the boating lake, but that has sadly disappeared. It's great to see that the private nature reserve beyond the viaduct has been opened up; I love the beautiful waterfall there. However, the paths we encountered were blocked by overgrown weeds and poorly maintained. Standing under the viaduct and listen out for the trains thunder overhead is great fun. My relative has fond memories of watching the Flying Scotsman whistle by. They hold many cherished childhood memories from the 1940s of these once-pristine and well-maintained lakes. Nb The turtles that reside at this lake are not native.

First time visiting today having lived in Hertfordshire for 30 years and rather disappointed to be honest. Firstly there are two car parks, North and South, but no signage saying what the benefit of parking in one or the other was. Secondly £6 for 3 hours parking is a rip off. You either want to encourage people to visit or you don't. The walk round the south lake was OK but nothing special. The cafe was distinctly average...coffee served in paper cups and lacklustre snacks on offer. Would I go again? No.

Nestled in the heart of Hatfield, the Hatfield Swim Centre is a fantastic destination for fitness enthusiasts and families alike. This unpretentious facility boasts multiple pools, including a 33-meter main pool complete with diving boards and a dedicated teaching area. Beyond swimming, visitors can enjoy a well-equipped gym offering various fitness classes to cater to all levels. The centre also features relaxing amenities like a steam room and sauna for those looking to unwind after an invigorating workout.
Unusual pool... but a very nice pool. Good size main pool.. with good depth. Perfect for training. And tumble turns. Wasn't overly busy when I went. But was lots of lessons on at that time.. the smaller pools join into main pool which means main pool is a slightly odd shape. A little distracting doing length with angles not nice and straight.. or as you are passing the diving pool to your side. Overall I liked the pool. And hopefully will get another chance to visit before my job moves me elsewhere.
Rob H — Google review
Been a member for many years, and unfortunately this Year I've downgraded this gym from 4 starts to 1 and will also be canceling my membership.. Every year the price goes up and things get worse.. Closing times are getting earlier.. Kids are always in the gym destroying the equipment and playing around the work out area with no supervision ... Spa showers are always breaking.. All the good staff have left or are leaving..and the current staff don't really seem to care / don't really like thier job. It's a shame, I'll be now moving to pure gym for less and be able to use it 24/7
Samer S — Google review
Nice and orderly pool but customer service sends you in circles for anything other than cancelling/signing up. They have no idea on details for membership plans e.g. link to Stanborough Park or what level swims lessons are beyond the title 'beginner/improver'. Back and forth between email/phone calls between various staff meant I lost a month in actually finding the membership most suitable. Unapologetic for incorrect advice which I have in writing.

It’s a community within a community. Communication with staff is easy friendly yet professional as well as personal. It’s great to see the staff having the right balance of hard work and being accessible to the public. Dan Leeds by example and is always working hard to provide good service and a good energy.

If you are looking at booking a birthday part here I would strongly advise against it. My daughter goes swimming regularly, she has lessons with school and I take her most Sundays. When I take her she normally swims 50m front crawl at the beginning before playing and practising her diving then 50m breast stroke at the end before leaving. We thought that even though the reviews here weren't good the idea of having a party here was great. There is a small test at the beginning but then they are free to use the inflatable obstacle course and diving boards after. So, even though my daughter can swim the lifeguard on duty decided to fail her. She swam the whole distance without touching the floor twice. My daughter was almost in tears, I didn't know what happened but the lifeguard said it was she changed her stroke halfway through. I challenged him and he said she could do the test again. I asked my daughter to just choose one stroke and stick to it. She started swimming, there were other children in the pool at this point but she swam round everyone without touching the floor. I thought nothing of it as she swam the whole distance. The lifeguard then said her strokes weren't strong enough. My daughter isn't the fastest of swimmers but she easily swam the test 3 times. I have emailed them for a response and apparently they are investigating but "Pool safety is our greatest priority, we do always offer a retest but it is down to the lifeguards/duty manager on shifts discretion whether a swimmer passes or fails." So a girl with armbands was allowed to pass this test and ended up on the diving boards (the mother had to scream out for her to get down) so not sure how that works with pool safety. My daughters birthday was ruined and they have not come back to me with any satisfactory explanation as to why she failed the test. So even if your child can swim they may just fail them for the sake of failing them, leaving them to watch their friends play.

Good swimming facilities, a main pool plus kids pool and splash area. There is also a dedicated diving pool that can be booked. Changing rooms were generally clean, much cleaner than other pools nearby. Quiet for a Sunday, although the "fun swim" consisted of about four large floats in the main pool. Still, we had a good time and will return.
Luke S — Google review
Worst swim center ever. Don't bother going here. They can't cater walk ins and you have limited swim times
VJ H — Google review
This is a really nice pool to swim in, was real sur how good it was. To start with there is anfree carpark. There is a large clean changing area with lots of showers and toilets. There's also a spin dryer for costumes which is so handy. The pool is large with plenty of lanes. Be aware it's a 33m pool not 25m.

Good halal kebab shop in Hatfield . Had a fantastic experience at Hatfield Kebab House! The food was fresh, delicious, and generously portioned. I ordered a chicken diner wrap, and the meat was cooked to perfection—juicy, flavorful, and well-seasoned. The salad was fresh, and the sauces complemented the meal perfectly. Kids enjoyed the burger and chicken nuggets and love the freshly made pizza. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making sure everything was to my liking. The service was quick despite the place being busy, and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained. Great value for money too! If you’re in Hatfield and craving a quality kebab, this is definitely the place to go. Highly recommended!

Really disappointed with my order and the service today on 06.06.25, placed an order requested only lettuce and onion with my order. Marked as paying cash, when order arrived, driver didn't have any change on him... order was £13.58, i had £20.58 so expected to get £10.... suggested that I give him the money and he would come back with the money... seriously?!!! Then when he came back 20mins later (with the same cold food) he hadnt brought £10 but loose change and then insisted i gave him my receipt back so i took a photo of it. when I opened my food, it had full salad!.. if I had allergies to tomatoes, that could have been a problem but when I phoned the shop they were trying to tell me it wasn't wrong then apologised calling me sir!? The last time I will order from there again!

Located in Ayot Green near Welwyn Garden City, The Waggoners is a charming 17th-century coaching inn that has been renovated into a rustic pub and a restaurant serving modern European bar food and inventive French cuisine. Run by experienced restaurateurs Aude and Laurent Brydniak, the establishment exudes a cozy atmosphere with its dark red walls and stylish decor.
Charming French Restaurant A wonderful local French restaurant in a peaceful setting next to the golf courses—perfect for a relaxing meal with family. The ambiance is serene, making it an ideal spot to enjoy quality French cuisine. I highly recommend the French Onion Soup and the fish—both were absolutely delicious! We popped to The Waggoners for a cheeky pint in the sunshine and were so delighted with how nice of an experience it was. The staff was welcoming, and we even got a tour of all the dinning rooms with tables of all sizes. We sat outside in the sunshine, had beautiful pints of Guinness and hot nuts. The menu seemed full of fabulous options, and we ordered the frog legs in butter and garlic. It was stunning. And it was fun. Loved my visit and will definitely come back.

Absolutely lovely pub/restaurant out in the country. Warm and very inviting, plenty of parking a nice garden out the back, but too cold to sit outside. The food was to die for. The Waggoners probably have more to offer than what we needed. Definitely will be going again. But next time, I will take Digswell Hill because Ayot St Peter road is a single track and not many places to pass. Highly recommend. Give them a go.

Ideal as a last stop for dog walkers & hikers. Their authentic french cuisine is beautifully presented & their Sunday roasts are to die for!! You need to book ahead especially at the weekend & on sunny days as a local favourite. Mid Priced & Well recommended!!

Pub
The Crooked Chimney, formerly known as Hornbeam Hall, is a charming traditional pub located in Welwyn Garden City. Housed in an 18th-century farmhouse, it features cozy log fires during the winter and a delightful summer beer garden. The pub offers a hearty menu of classic dishes made with seasonal ingredients and boasts a well-stocked bar. Visitors can enjoy the inviting garden area, which also welcomes four-legged friends.
I recently had the pleasure of hosting a Christmas wreath-making workshop at this wonderful pub, and I cannot speak highly enough of the experience. From start to finish, the staff went above and beyond to help make the event a success, especially Meghan and Louise. Their support in organizing everything was truly invaluable, and it made the entire process so much smoother and more enjoyable. The atmosphere was absolutely perfect. The roaring fire and festive Christmas music created the most magical, cosy setting! It was ideal for a creative and social gathering. The pub itself exudes charm, with its traditional English character and welcoming vibe. It was clear that this pub is more than just a place for a drink. It’s a hub for the community, where everyone feels welcome. I’m so grateful for their hospitality and hard work in helping bring this event to life. I’d highly recommend it to anyone, whether you’re looking for a cosy spot to relax or a venue for a special event, it’s truly a gem. Thank you The Crooked Chimney for everything!

I gave the Crooked Chimney a go this evening for a Sunday roast. We Was greeted at the bar by the gentleman and handed three adult menus when I had a 6 year old with me. When I asked “do you have a kids menu” the waiter stared at me with no reaction and just said I do , not I’ll grab you one, nothing. After I further asked for a child’s menu he brought one and we then ordered our food, all fine. Our food then came, 2 x Sunday trios and a kids meal. 1 of the trios came with no stuffing, and the veg was cold like it had been sat under a hot plate for a while. The beef was red and extremely chewy and the pork was just a block of fat. Also please note The “roast” potatoes are boiled potatoes, not roasted in the slightest. Both of us ended up leaving the meat on both of our plates. Then had to go up to the bar to pay our bill as no one bothered to come over to take our plates for over 20 minutes as it seemed there friends were stood at the bar talking and showing them pictures Overall, not a great experience. I understand we dined late in the evening on a Sunday but I believe the level of service and food standards should not change no matter the time of evening. Highly disappointed with our visit.

Had the 12£ for 3 small plates which is great value, spent the same amount on 2 pints which is pretty standard in today's economy. Cozy and rustic with friendly staff. Pretty up standard pub food. Building is over 200 years old and has some very nice interior characteristics. Very cosy and warm atmosphere. Service is extremely slow but atmosphere and food somewhat compensates for it. Highly recommend the king prawn cocktail and pan roasted lamb. Recommend to visit for a relaxing lunch or dinner and you are not in a hurry/or and extremely hungry or else you maybe waiting awhile.

Miserable staff, no manners. Owners need to have a chat with current boys behind the bar or think about getting new ones. Pizza was nice but salad served with it was awful! Staff didn’t offer any napkins or cutlery.

This has to be one if the worst dining experiences I have ever had. Chopped tomatoes on top of a prawn cocktail which had no sauce and limp romaine lettuce doesn't do this 70s classic any favours.Lemon wedges also must be in short supply. Then there's the fish and chips which can only described as poor at best. Saying our batter is a dark batter, has me laughing even as I write the review. The pub as a whole has a nice feel about it. On a winters day with a great fire and a beer, it gives off a Snug vibe. Come on guy's do better with the food !!

Tesco Extra is a fantastic superstore that offers an extensive range of products, making it a one-stop shopping destination. Located conveniently near the A1 motorway and surrounded by other shops like B&M, this spacious store features everything from groceries to clothing, ensuring you have plenty of options. The clean and tidy environment adds to the pleasant shopping experience. My husband bought this the other day and when he got home we noticed it was already expired for 2 days! I am very disappointed as I don’t leave near a Tesco and it makes it really difficult to go back!

Bit of a bizarre rant but I popped in to get tapenade. Couldn't find any so I asked a shop assistant. Unfortunately he'd never heard of tapenade so he went off to find another colleague. He was gone for a while and came back but apologised for the delay as he couldn't find anyone. He went looking again. After finding five members of staff, not one knew what tapenade was. Tesco does stock tapenade but the staff, who replenish the shelves don't know where to find it or what it even is. It was frustrating as it took a while going through each person and having to describe what this product was. Surely if it's on the shelves and your job is to replenish stock, you would at least know where to find it? Shame because the staff were polite and I can't fault that.

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to Tesco and especially to Chris, who delivered my order on Friday 23 May. He was friendly, punctual, and incredibly helpful – a real credit to your team. It's always a pleasure when someone goes the extra mile, and Chris did just that. His professionalism and cheerful attitude made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. In times when good service really stands out, it's worth recognising, and Chris certainly deserves the praise. Please pass on my thanks to him, he was a complete superstar!

Well it's tesco, you only get a deal if your on clubcard, but availability is normally good and shelfs are restocked over night. Only downside as all supermarkets now is they seem to prioritise home shopping over their customers who go there in person, always having to go around or ask the pickers to move as they are stressed over their pick rate they need to maintain. It does have a massive selection of food and a great selection of drinks. Clubcard to worth it as you get more of a rrp price compared to the extra that these places charge.
Jono L — Google review
Have been here a few times. Decided to cycle there today. Unfortunately the bike racks are small, too close together and an unfortunate triangle shape making it difficult to lock the bike securely and not be tangled up with another bike. Considering the size of the enormous car park this is the usual cyclists being treated as second class. Having secured my bike there was a queue to get in more than an hour after the store opened so went to Asda instead, home of the best bike racks in the area.

Off the beaten path
For day 5, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Mill Green Museum and Watermill. Not quite as popular as Hatfield House, Park and Gardens, but still highly rated among many travelers. The Mill Green Museum and Mill is a restored heritage site that features a water-powered flour mill, as well as galleries showcasing local history. The mill produces high-quality flour of various grades and types, which can be purchased along with souvenirs. Visitors can explore exhibits featuring Roman era artifacts and changing art exhibitions by local artists. Additionally, the gardens sometimes host temporary stalls. The museum offers tours of the mill and provides informative staff to guide visitors through their experience.
Very interesting visit. The miller was great he gave us a good talk on the history, answered all our questions demonstrated the workings of the mill and the water wheel. He gave us so much time and was such a friendly chap. There's a small art exhibition in one of the first rooms, live music outside. They are running murder mystery escape room adventures around the mill at the moment which looked like a lot of fun. We had a lovely cream tea in the he gardens. The scones are made with the flour from the mill. They are lovely. It's a great place for a few hours out. Car park, toilets and friendly staff.

Lovely place to come and visit. Interesting and historic Watermill and the homemade cream teas are just out of this world made from the mill's flour..high praise indeed from my mum living in devon most her life. The dog loved them too! Highly recommended.

What a lovely little Water Mill. The staff were lovely and the tour by the Miller was really interesting; it included harnessing the power of the river to drive the flour Mill Stones, receiving & processing of the grain into flour and packaging. I was surprised to hear how this Mill, and others like it, stepped up during the 2020 Covid outbreak to ensure flour was still available to the Bakeries. The Mill building itself shows evidence of changes through modifications made during its production years and before finally ceasing commercial operations. We also had a cream tea with their own made scones, hmmm lovely.
Paul C — Google review
There are plenty of restored mills around, but very few are still actively milling corn to produce flour you can then purchase. This place is a rare treasure. Excellent from every aspect, but the warmth and enthusiasm of their team was memorable. Plentiful free parking, clean loos, superbly restored and lovingly maintained ancient fully working technology is presented in context and clearly seen and presented. Initial warm greeting from reception lady, tour conducted by the miller, and charisma of the catering lady with her perfect cream teas made our long trip to visit fully worthwhile. If you think you might find this place interesting, be assured you will. Highly recommended! Our dog enjoyed visiting too. Tea and coffee cafetières are “bottomless”, and it’s also worth visiting just to enjoy their cafe.

We had an amazing time at the Mill Green Museum! We were greeted by Simon who talked to us about the gardens and the different plants growing there. The staff (Simon, Jim and Abbie) were all so friendly and knowledgeable. Jim the Miller was enthusiastic and gave a very informative tour and demonstration of the milling process and history of the mill. The gift shop sold their own flour which we are all looking forward to using and the cafe has a good selection of baked goods using their flour too! They answered all of our questions and curiosities and it was a very enjoyable day! Definitely recommend for any ages, be that University students like us, or families (the museum had a very interactive display showing how the mill works which was fun!). Such a beautiful location too on the River Lea! A little gem! :) - Psychology department at Uni of Herts

I purchased a gift card from Red for my parents as a birthday present. When they visited the restaurant tonight to redeem it, they were informed that only one voucher could be used per visit. So, instead of enjoying a family meal paid for by their family, they now have to make three separate trips to use their birthday gift card/vouchers. I wouldn’t recommend Red because of this. It's disappointing that Red sells gift cards without clearly communicating such restrictions on their usage

I half expected tomahawks and teepees but the restaurant turned out to be one serving Indian food and just happened to be called "red". The food was very tasty and well presented. Our starter was remarkably filling, so we weren't able to do the main courses the justice they definitely deserved. This has now gone to the top of my list of "Indian restaurants in this part of Hertfordshire". Hopefully, we will return.

Guy on the phone spoke nicely and clearly, the delivery driver was the same and walked up 3 floors to get it to the door. Food was really nice not too oily, I had a prawn madras was a little watery but the flavour was good and plenty of prawns. My lady had the Pasanda and she enjoyed it and was plenty of lamb in there. Overall... good service, quick delivery good food in would recommend.

Had a superb banquet night for their anniversary - delicious chutneys, mixed starter and mains, which even included the tandoori seabass, with sides too. We loved the mini cupcakes as a touch after the meal, and left so full for a bargain price. Service was fast despite a very busy evening, and we had a great time. Thanks!

Pub
The Red Lion is a modern pub located in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, offering a comfortable and family-friendly atmosphere. It provides a variety of comfort food options including vegetarian and gluten-free choices. The pub is popular for its local ales and typical pub grub. With its terrace, it's perfect for enjoying summer evenings or watching TV sports with free WiFi available. The interior is cozy with period decor and various seating options.
Haven’t been here for a few years though always liked it when I lived locally. Recently moved back to the area and been in twice so far. The pub is beautifully decorated, the staff are consistently great (always found this to be the case before) and the food is fabulous. The salads that have accompanied my mains each time have been delicious - lovely effort made.

Haven’t been here before and I was surprised how large the pub is. I ordered a burger and it was okay, a little better than Wetherspoons. The menu is similar to Wetherspoons also. It’s simple and easy.

Just enjoyed the best Hunters Chicken to date! Over the moon! Excellent food, friendly service and clean. Highly recommend, will return.

I was here last Sunday for the first time in quite a few years and first time ever having Sunday lunch at the Red Lion. The meal, a roast was great and a huge portion too! The place is now more a restaurant-pub. It looks quite nice inside and is quite spacious. I won't wait so long for my next visit.

Wow, what a great find! It will be a favourite from now on, especially as summer draws on and we can enjoy the garden. We had Sunday roast and can recommend the rotisserie chicken and the beef brisket options. Large portions, quick polite service, beautiful surroundings. What's not to like. Well done Red Lion team!!

This is a brilliant pub!!! Service is top notch and everyone is so friendly. The food? 10/10 especially the Sunday roast! Very reasonably priced and tasted amazing. Great portion sizes and you get the option to order a smaller or larger plate depending on how much you can eat! They also have 99ps with a flake!! Great seating availability & very clean. Dog friendly and parking! 100% recommend and definitely coming back

Food was okay but expensive and small portion sizes. Able to cater for large parties and were happy to replace the stake that had been charcoaled on the outside. Didn't try the beers but didn't seem like there was much on offer. Overall it suits its purpose but I wouldn't say the overall experience justifies the prices.

A very agreeable establishment. Great interior, tasty food, reasonable prices, pristine loos and excellent serving staff. Very cosy inside with period decor and a variety of seats to suit all postures. The menu isn't challenging but offers something for most tastes with options and additions at low prices. My steak was cooked perfectly as were my companions beetroot and chicken burgers. The wine list starts around £17 a bottle and all available by the small, medium or, in my case, large glass. Dessert menu proved to be more satisfying than on initial glance. Car park spacious. What's not to like?
