Sant'Agata de' Goti in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Sant'Agata de' Goti, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Sant’Agata de’ Goti is a striking medieval town perched on a tufa cliff above two rivers, with stone houses and bell towers seemingly hanging over the valley below. Its compact historic center is filled with narrow lanes, Romanesque and Baroque churches, and remnants of ancient Samnite and Roman occupation. Visitors come for scenic views of the Taburno mountain range, traditional Campanian food and wine, and a quieter, small-town alternative to nearby Naples and Caserta.
With favorites like Ristorante L'Antro Di Alarico Di Raffaelina Iannotta, Church of San Francesco, and Saticula Playground, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Fiore 1985 and Ristorante L'Antro Di Alarico Di Raffaelina Iannotta so you can get the best taste of Sant'Agata de' Goti while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Castle
Nestled in the charming village of Sant'Agata de' Goti, the Castello Ducale stands as a testament to history, originally constructed by the Lombards and later enhanced by the Normans in the 1100s. This majestic fortress is adorned with captivating mythological frescoes that transport visitors back in time. Each June, the town comes alive during Corpus Domini with its stunning Infiorata festival, where vibrant flower petals are meticulously arranged into intricate street art.
Medieval, historic, charming little town. Great experience. We walked about, family and friends, We enjoyed it very much. Strongly recommend a tour

A village with landscapes and views to photograph... what is to underline is the welcome and the friendliness of the inhabitants 😊... I suggest you visit the Catalana window... have coffee at Mario Perna and taste an Annurca apple ice cream in the Norman bar. I still have so much to write but the only way to grasp it all is to GO (Original) È un Castello che ti riporta indietro e ti fa sognare😍😍 Ne è visitabile solo una parte in quanto è di proprietà privata... It is currently in private hands and is full of shops. He deserved much more. Only when I booked the visit online did they respond by email at 11:25 a.m. on the same day, informing them that they were on vacation on August 10th and would reopen the following day. Unfortunately, I found them to be less than trustworthy. Furthermore, some sites can only be visited through Mila (Church of San Menna). What I didn't appreciate was that the official website allowed me to book for today, when they were actually on vacation. The official website seems well-designed, but after today's experience, it seems unreliable. I'm so disappointed because we traveled especially with friends from out of town.

The visits are visitor-friendly, without rush and with the possibility of asking questions. The guide provides the most significant details of the history of this very ancient Diocese, which had very active bishops, some of whom were protagonists of the history of the Church, such as Saint Alphonsus Maria de Liguori. The quality/price ratio is to the visitor's advantage. I advise you to keep an eye on the planned cultural events. L'accompagnatrice fornisce i dettagli piú significativi della storia di questa Diocesi antichissima, che ha avuto vescovi molto attivi, alcuni dei quali protagonisti della Storia della Chiesa, come Sant'Alfonso Maria de Liguori. The restaurant Ristorante L'Antro Di Alarico Di Raffaelina Iannotta offers excellent cuisine and has a highly welcoming staff. It is highly recommended for its delicious food and the friendly demeanor of the employees. However, it's important to note that only cash payments are accepted, as credit or debit cards are not supported. The service provided at this establishment is exceptional, and the food served is of decent quality.
Great food and really friendly staff! Would definitely recommend this! Be aware to bring cash money. There is no credit or debit card payment possible.

Horrible. 3 years in Italy and worst restaurant yet. Tiny portions, 28 euro antipasti that fed 1 (not 4). No napkins provided, no wine glasses provided, asked 3 times for a menu....69 euro and left hungry.

Incredible service. Decent food. Couldn’t ask for more on a cold day during riposo.

Antica Osteria Zi' Pauluccio is an elegant restaurant with a traditional ambiance. The food is of exceptional quality, prepared simply yet skillfully. The attentive and thorough service adds to the overall dining experience. While the prices may not be cheap, it's worth it for the unique offerings. This restaurant has a cozy outdoor space and is highly regarded by many customers. It offers a fabulous menu with top-notch dishes like steak and pasta with truffle.
AMAZING restaurant in Sant’Agata! We had both lunch and dinner in this place and we truly loved it! The food is fabulous, every single dish we had! Also special thanks to Mirco, our waiter who was such a lovely and caring person! Last but not least, the restaurant itself, the ambience is very well done. Highly recommended restaurant! Ps. Do yourself a favour and order the “L’Elica Bicolore” pasta.

This is a rather elegant looking restaurant. I was expecting more of a traditional place. In the end, I ate well, all dishes were of good quality and simply prepared. The service was good, attentive and thorough. The prices aren't cheap, but where else can we find that? I give 4 stars to encourage improvement.

Delicious and for the specific region authentic food. I've enjoyed tuna tartar (excellent!), hubby has had lams chops (perfect as well), some tasty pasta for kids and delicious meat for youth. The venue is pleasant, the service great!

Dining at Antica Osteria Zi’ Pauluccio was one of the highlights of our time in Sant’Agata de’ Goti. The restaurant captures everything that makes Italian dining so special — warm hospitality, rustic charm, and food made with love and tradition. From start to finish, every dish was beautifully prepared, showcasing the rich flavors of the Campania region. The standout for us was the pane cotto — simple, hearty, and absolutely delicious. It was comfort food at its finest — perfectly seasoned, rich in flavor, and clearly made with fresh, local ingredients. You can taste the care and history in every bite. If you’re visiting Sant’Agata de’ Goti, don’t miss Antica Osteria Zi’ Pauluccio. It’s the kind of place that reminds you why Italian cuisine is so loved — honest, soulful food that leaves you smiling long after the meal is over.

Great place, high quality food (everything from appetizers to first and second dishes, even the pastry was amazing), in this place you'll find typical but creative dishes. And for a great value. Some veg option available. Strongly recommended!

We loved this restaurant! Best steak we had in Italy! Pasta with truffle was great too.

A very quaint place with good service. Unfortunately my meat was extremely undercooked for my liking. Hence the 4 stars.

After reading the reviews, I decided to visit Il Platano bar and was pleasantly surprised by its simplicity, warm welcome, efficient service, and high-quality offerings. We tried their ice creams, milkshakes, and coffees which I highly recommend. The overall ambiance was calm and unpretentious - a perfect reflection of an ideal workplace. Congratulations to Il Platano for creating such an exceptional experience!
Top top top.

(Translated by Google) Il Platano is the bar par excellence. The freshly roasted coffee is extraordinary, as are the staff, as are the owners. In addition to coffee there is the magic counter where in the morning you can find excellent desserts and from midday it is enriched with extraordinary rustic desserts. It's a pleasure to take a break for a coffee or an aperitif.
