The Hôtel départemental des expositions du Var (HDE Var) in Draguignan is a stunning new cultural venue. Its current exhibit on Ulysse is both impressive and highly enjoyable. The tickets for this exhibition are inexpensive, making it a great experience for all visitors. Adults only have to pay 5 units of currency, while young children can enter for free. To avoid waiting outside, it is advisable to book online and choose an early time slot.
Beautiful brand new cultural venue in Draguignan. Current exhibit about Ulysse is impressive and highly enjoyable.Tickets are cheap (also enjoyable!) 5€ for adults, free for young children. Book online and pick an early slot or you may have to queue outside for a while.

Very good exposition but the place would enjoy better doors – each time someone is entering the rooms you can hear a loud sound...

A Clean roon, great bed and a delicious breakfast helped to ease the long journey from the South of France. The only downside was the room smelled heavily of tobacco smoke.

(Translated by Google) I went to the HDV for the ghost exhibition, and I was delighted with my visit. The venue is pleasant, and the staff is friendly. The exhibition itself was very rich, with works and documents ranging from Antiquity to the present day. The top floor is dedicated to the representation of ghosts around the world. Alongside the "classical" works (paintings, drawings), original and modern presentations are offered, which makes for a dynamic visit. At children's height, questions aimed at young audiences are offered, which is very enjoyable for younger visitors. Note that upon my arrival, I was given the exhibition map, along with a bookmark and a postcard, which was very much appreciated.

(Translated by Google) A wonderful family outing in the cool of the day at the Hôtel Départemental des Expositions du Var to discover the "Ghosts" exhibition! A welcoming, clean, and well-maintained space (special mention for the spotless restrooms and the very practical water fountain), with a warm and friendly team at both reception and security. The exhibition itself is rich in both content and style: varied works, careful scenography, clear and fascinating explanations. You can sense genuine research and a desire to make art accessible to all. The activities offered around the exhibition (concerts, workshops, film screenings) are also a real plus. We especially loved the attention paid to children: audio guides and educational materials specially designed for them, at their level, clear and engaging. Finally, the prices are very affordable, with free admission for children and a real effort made for families. The staging is perfect, bravo for the choice of photos, books, masks, objects and documents. We are loyal visitors to the HDE, have seen all the exhibitions and have never been disappointed by the location and the welcome, as well as by the choice of themes, the work done in the various scenarios for presenting the various objects, and the guided tours by great guides. (Translated by Google) €50 per couple… for 6 rooms worthy of a children’s birthday party. We wanted to test the running man game, very big disappointment. We were sold a Fort Boyard type game, with tests, puzzles, adrenaline… We found ourselves in a cold, unfinished room (placo walls, open ceiling, no decor, no atmosphere). The 6 rooms? A kind of super simple giant Tetris. Hit light spots with a ball. Jump onto lights on the ground. A room with a computer and riddles without animation. Basketball hoops… nice 2 minutes. Another room with light buttons to touch. No immersion, no music, nothing fun or stimulating. In 30 minutes, we had seen everything. 50€ for that? It's absolutely not worth it. Suitable for children aged 8 (but not at such a price), not for adults. The only positive point: the man on site was very nice and took the time to explain everything to us. But that's not enough to justify such a price. We do not recommend.

(Translated by Google) Totally agree with Timéo's review! We played the "In the Jungle" scenario. The children (10 years old) and I, as an adult, were disappointed. The cleanliness is very unsatisfactory, both at the reception and in the playrooms. Dust a lot. The spaces are not maintained, nor are the decorations and equipment, almost illegible and indecipherable. No atmosphere, no soundtrack to add a little extra oomph (the lady couldn't put it on). Unfortunately, I don't recommend it.

The Artillery Museum is a free attraction that showcases a wide array of items from the 1st and 2nd World Wars. It's a must-visit for military enthusiasts, offering about 1.5 hours of exploration. Visitors can make donations at the entrance to support this fascinating and cost-free experience. The museum provides an in-depth look at the history of artillery, making it an educational and enjoyable visit for both adults and children.
Very interesting collection of artillery from the first days of projectiles up to the rockets that were designed to carry nuclear weapons . Also a great perspective on the gradual loss of territories by the big old European colonial powers ….

Is this place a restaurant after all? After 15 minutes waiting and not offered anything we just left. It wasn't that it was too busy, there were few guests and enough staff. Italian restaurant
La Petite Agerola is a charming Italian restaurant located in the heart of Draguignan's market square. With a small terrace offering 4-5 tables, it's advisable to make reservations in advance. The menu features delightful dishes such as the hearty and succulent fritto misto, best enjoyed with a bottle of white wine from the Naples region. Visitors praise the unbeatable value for money and commend the impeccable service provided by the friendly staff.
Good quality/price food. We had not booked a table but they found one in terrace. It was evening and we did not want to eat much, we shared one pizza and two desserts and the service was still good. It deserves the good reviews it gets. End of july in Draguignan, the atmosphere was festive, which only added up to the overall good experience.

The food? Pure bliss! Crazy flavors, delicious homemade sauces—in short, an explosion of pleasure 👌 And then the welcome and the service... just perfection 🔥! Smiles, good humor, we felt right at home (but better, because we didn't have to do the dishes 😄) The prices are really reasonable for such quality, honestly: a 6 out of 5 star restaurant, not to be missed under any circumstances 🇮🇹🍝❤️🍕 I'm in the West Indies and I can't wait to go back 🤤🤤🤤 (Original) Une tuerie monumentale🔥 On y est allés en famille, une quinzaine, avec jeunes et anciens et tout le monde s’est régalé du début à la fin 🥰🇮🇹 Les pizzas sont énormes, riches, savoureuses, avec cette pâte parfaite, fine et moelleuse à la fois.

The French restaurant La Louche de Louis XIV has a veranda with beautiful furniture and a fireplace. The food is delicious and generous, with liver being the main dish. The roast quails and foie gras are also delicious, while the steaks are of exceptional quality. It is a great place to eat, enjoyed by many people.

(Translated by Google) The welcome is friendly and warm, a superb veranda, a beautiful fireplace in a house which has a soul. We enjoy delicious and generous dishes, my weakness being the parsley veal liver. The roasted quails and foie gras will delight you, the entrecôtes are of exceptional quality, I haven't eaten meat this good for a long time.

(Translated by Google) To date we were a table of 9 people for a family birthday. Correct reception but it deteriorated throughout the service. Very narrow room, our chairs were placed against the wall and on the other side right in the service corridor but what was most annoying was the behavior of the boss who kept making comments to his two waiters who yet were very attentive towards us. From my point of view, if the boss would not be so present in the dining room with these numerous glasses of wine, the atmosphere would be completely different for this restaurant. Very good meal but nothing exceptional.

Northeast side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Dolmen pierre de la Fée, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Maison du Bourreau. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Dolmen pierre de la Fée is a fascinating historical site located in a convenient and easily accessible area. Visitors are pleasantly surprised by the impressive 25-ton slab, making it worth the visit despite its proximity to residential areas. The free parking nearby adds to the convenience of exploring this dolmen. Although not set in an ideal environment, the dolmen's sheer size and historical significance make it a must-see attraction for those passing through the area.
It's a pity there is not much around. Looks like an interesting spot but needs animation

Mind blowing to realise this date back to 2500 BC… it’s located virtually next door to a private home so you need to be discreet and thoughtful when observing this historical site.
Julie L — Google review
Brilliant little shop at the back of the cathedral selling local foie gras, duck and wine but they also have a terrace serving a variety of super, sensibly priced, salads based around their local products. Welcome and service excellent but you you may need to be patient to pay as customers all want to chat and buy in the shop! The only drawback?- you do need to book. We’ll be back when we visit Cahors again.

Pierre de la Fée

Bus stop
Just a short drive from the town lies the intriguing Pierre de la Fée, a dolmen that dates back approximately 5,000 years to the Copper Age. This ancient monument is crafted entirely from local calcareous stone and features an impressive broad slab roof supported by three sturdy rocks. What truly distinguishes Pierre de la Fée are its towering supporting walls, which rise over two meters high, setting it apart from other dolmens in the region.

Restaurant
Les Trois Garçons is a remarkable dining establishment that offers exceptional value for money. The service provided by the staff is flawless and incredibly friendly. The cuisine served at this restaurant is absolutely delectable! During my visit, I noticed some local firefighters enjoying their meals, which created a fantastic ambiance. It is an absolute must-visit if you are in the vicinity. The food is excellent, the staff is welcoming, and it offers great value for your money.
We visited this restaurant as we were passing on our route to airport from an eventful day at Verdon Au Gorge. We were greeted by a friendly server who showed us our table outside. We ordered escargot and the truffle mushroom pizza for starter. Both were delicious. For main we ordered the special lobster as recommended by the server and the duck. Again both meals were fantastic and well cooked. The duck had good flavour and was cooked to perfection. The lobster was fresh and the pasta that came with it was refreshing. For desserts we ordered the apple tart and crepe. Both were mediocre. All round the food was excellent and the service was as best you can get! Well done

One of the worst experiences I’ve had in a French restaurant. I’m half French and have been in and out of south France my whole life. First of all: the food is fine and the quality is very good. We had the filet and the duck (as menu). But… the service was a catastrophe. The server „Axel F.“ as per our bill was extremely rude and unprofessional. He messed up our main dish order and tried to frame us. Secondly they messed up our side dishes as well and at least the other waiter was nicely clarifying and apologizing. During the meal Axel F. made several sarcastic and provoking comments. After asking for confirmation that we won’t be charged on the wrong side dishes, he „whispered“ to his colleague: „these people are starting a war with us“, in French. Luckily another waiter brought the bill and was very polite in the end.

Wasn't sure about it when we walked in as the waitress was a bit rude when asked if we can sit in the boot next to each other, she said no because she needed the table ready for tomorrow, that was awkward!! But after all, you realise that she's nice and professional after that cold first interaction. The food was really good, my chicken was a bit dry but because it was the chicken breast, the sides were really tasty, carrots, parsnips and potatoes. My husband was happy with his cheese and ham, very good idea the brie with the truffle by the way. Big wine selection, specially the locals one. The chef came around to check if everything was OK with our food. We finished this lovely experience with a succulent dessert. The other waiter was just lovely. Overall, really good experience, certainly coming back when I next visit Draguignan, hopefully soon. Totally recommand

I had the entrecote. The quality of the meat and the cuisson were both great! I asked for rare and they delivered! Service is okay, not very personal since they are quite large and generally very busy, but professional throughout. We came in without reservation so we got placed inside, the decor is nice but i bet it's even nicer to sit outside and enjoy the vibrant city vibes, even though the restaurant seems to be located just (!) outside of the city 'core'. Would very much recommend this place to hungry travelers!

I’ve been in France for 2 months now. Myself and my French partner spend the winter in the Var each year. The is the worst restaurant I have encountered in many years. Some good dishes but some very poor ones also. When highlighting this to the staff they seemed unconcerned. After we paid and my mother ( a native of the area) was safely in our car we spoke to the owner who could not give a ;:/t about our experience or the quality of his offerings. Can’t see why they have 4.4 rating. €175 is chump change for a good meal, Draguignan deserves better than this. Give them a miss!
John C — Google review
We had a small lunch. The foie gras terrine and the truffel pizza were mediocre. Service was completely unprofessional, almost not existing. Pricey for the offer. The location outside was nice, but it was not enough to compensate for the rest.

Restaurant
Au Bureau Draguignan is most popular around noon on Saturdays, attracting a substantial number of visitors who typically spend 60 to 120 minutes at the establishment. Conversely, Mondays tend to be quieter. While the prices may be slightly high and the noise level somewhat elevated, the quality of food served is commendable. The poutine is particularly delicious, complemented by Leffe beer served in specialized glasses. The staff members are exceptional, readily accommodating patrons' requests for additional salad servings.
I often come here for dinner with my colleagues and feel the friendliness of all the staff with smiling, especially Mr. Nicos who is very attentive to customers and talks to them about everything very well.food and drinks are very good too excellent!!
