Ski & Snowboard Areas
Serre Chevalier is a vast ski resort consisting of 13 villages and offering 115 slopes for winter sports enthusiasts. In addition to skiing, the area also provides summer activities such as mountain biking. The resort features a variety of slopes catering to different skill levels, from green for beginners to black for the more experienced. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking scenery and take part in off-piste skiing through forests and couloirs.
Great place to ski! Amazing views, different ski slopes. We had a good time here!

One of the most underrated ski resorts. It is vast and has everything, from easy routes, to off piste of all kinds: forests, coulours, easy hills just off the main tracks. Lots of ski touring in every valley. La grave just 30 min drive. Ice climbing also reachable by car

Wonderful ski resort with a lot to give... Hope to see you soon... A lot of great slopes, black slopes usually are not groomed and you should be cautious, Luc Alphand is well prepared black amazing slope, red are great, blue is for everyone and there is also green slopes / roads that literally goes thru a village... Amazing breathtaking scenery...
Edin M — Google review
It's a great ski area. Plenty of runs, across the full spectrum of difficulty and terrain, served by a good lift system. The people are friendly, the mountains are high and the food is good.
Simon H — Google review
Wonderful place to go for winter sports! If the weather is good then you can take the télésiège to the top of Serre Chevalier where you can get some amazing pictures. However if the weather is bad, there are many local activities to take part in. In terms of restaurants, there is a large selection of local restaurants from pizzarias to crêperies. At the bottom of the Villeneuve slope there is also an amazing Après-ski restaurant with kind staff members who tell funny jokes! 5 stars from me. Joyeux 80 ans !

One of the best ski resorts in the south Alps. About 250km of ski pist s. Always enough snow, usually nice weather. We will be back dor sure.
Borut R — Google review
Great skiing, relaxed vibe, chilled villages, even though it was hot and snow was melting the slope groomers had done an excellent job keeping runs in a good condition.

Mountain peak
La Cucumelle is a picturesque pyramid-shaped peak that offers breathtaking views and serves as a great ski spot. It is known for its wide slopes and incredible snow, making it a joy for skiing enthusiasts. In the summer, visitors can embark on an early morning ascent from La Salle-les-Alpes to catch the sunrise from the summit. The trail presents no significant difficulties, following the Torrents de Frejus and de la Balme.
Breathtaking view and great ski spot.

Great views from the summit and col; the ski infrastructure lower down is a bit ugly when walking through in summer.

The last part, in a lunar landscape, is quite steep, and the return would have been complicated for children, with or without a stick. Fortunately there is a path with a gentler slope which allows you to reach either the Grand Pré pass or the start of the ridge, close to the BBQ site. For the return, we passed through the Col du Grand Pré, with beautiful flowery meadows, and a descent through the forest to Monêtier. 500m of D+, 1250m of D-.

(Translated by Google) The mountain at the top is out of this world: a pyramid of gravel set in the greenery, I went up there by bike and the descent, although slightly dangerous if you fall, was fantastic! To get there, however, the route is not that great: I did the Enduro des Cretes from Casse di Boeuf. (Original) La montagna in cima è spaziale: una piramide di pietrisco incastonata nel verde, io ci sono salito in bici e la discesa anche se leggermente pericolosa se uno cade è stata fantastica! It was beyond my expectations! The staff was really nice and all the installations were very clean and well-done. On top of that, my room also had a nice view to the alps that I wasn't expecting. Awesome!

So happy with our stay. Service was excellent from everyone and we particularly enjoyed getting to know Axel and Tomas in the bar. Location right in the middle of town - everything is easily accessible and walking down to the slopes is easy enough (despite doing it in ski boots but that's just part of skiing). We had a balcony apartment for our family of four and it was enough space for us. Good amount of storage throughout and the kitchen/breakfast area was convenient. Really enjoyed it!
Michael B — Google review
Wonderful stay, although disappointing that the pool (which was a driving factor in my decision to book for our family with kids) was closed for some "issue" throughout our stay. Despite that one big disappointment, the property was a great choice. Apartment-style rooms were well designed, clean and everything looked new. Nice lounge/bar area as well. Besides the pool, there is a very large, warm jacuzzi which was enjoyable although could have been hotter. Breakfast was terrific for those who chose to partake. I also appreciated that the hotel owners were on site and friendly - it's nice to support family-owned businesses. Would recommend for others visiting Monetier-Les-Bains / Serre Chevalier.

My surprised husband surprised me with a massage at Alliey & Spa and they advised him to have a morning session because in the afternoon it will be noisy and crowded. But when I got there, the pool was closed and the hammam was not on because they only switch it on at 16:30. I was very upset because they never mentioned that the pool and hammam are closed in the morning!! They are dishonest and unfair. Also the massage was ridiculous, unfortunately not enjoyable because it was like patting an animal. Massaging my foot first and then touch my neck and head! I don’t know where she has done her training. The whole experience was so disappointing

Living in Monetier, I’m extremely disappointed by the spa. I booked for my wife and my friend for massage and spa. I was told come in the morning, the spa is less crowded …. No wonder, nothing works. Hamam and sauna are not heated up before 4.30pm. Pool is as cold as the Guisane. I have no idea about the hotel quality. But spa must absolutely be avoided. Such a shame . I love to give business to local owners who usually offer great value. But this one is an absolute NO GO.

What a lovely experience we had at this Alpine hotel in Monetier, one of the villages in Serre Chevalier. We loved our room which overlooked the pool and the magnificent mountains so much we didn't want to leave. We went on a couple of great hikes, ending the day in La Maison Alliey, the hotel's famed restaurant...delicious is all I can say!!!...and don't get me started on the wine...they have an amazing collection down in their own cellar. We look forward to coming back next year for the Tour de France weekend again!!...because watching it this year race past outside in the village, was the highlight of our year so far!! Thank you again Hotel Alliey!!

What a gorgeous hotel. The heated outdoor pool surrounded by the mountains is wow wow wow! My husband and I and our 2 kids just loved our stay here. It was a truly perfect holiday in the Alps. The hotel is right in the middle of the village of Monetier les Bains and there are lots of cute French shops to get your baguettes and croissants in the morning and supplies for picnics in the mountains. We went hiking lots and rafting too which was great! The hotel staff were really lovely and gave us lots of great info on adventures to go on and walking trails. Would deff recommend & we'll be back one day for sure! Thanks for the tips to go to natural thermal spas Les Grands Bains in the village, they were such a treat too! - all 5 star! Thanks for our great stay! :)

Fine dining restaurant
Nestled in a charming locale, 16âme offers an inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements its exquisite French cuisine. This delightful eatery stands out for its sophisticated yet approachable menu, steering clear of overly avant-garde elements like foams or unusual garnishes. Instead, diners can expect a harmonious blend of flavors and surprising dishes that showcase high-quality ingredients. The cheese plate is particularly noteworthy, and the extensive wine list enhances the dining experience beautifully.
I can not say I loved all the dishes, I would probably skip the Christmas spirit take on the fish , but poultry was outstanding ! Cozy small restaurant without fanfare but with natural charm and great service

Baffled by the high stars. Food is "fine" at best with nothing here worth diverting for or worth paying the price for. The fish main was quite a lowlight - essentially a soup that you had to try and eat with a fork. The desert of white chocolate destroyed by fennel and star anise was memorable for the wrong reasons. Overall there are far nicer (and cheaper) places to eat in Monetier and I would recommend you seek those out. I would not return. We had a lovely meal at La Table Du Cairn earlier in the week, which was exceptional in every way.

A great atmosphere. Superbe food. It's nice to see gastro french that do serious sophisticated food without "bombarding you" with weird foams, bizarre mushrooms and crisps made with wild flowers. Still, great flavors and much surprise. Excellent cheese plate. Thorough wine list. Important to note that we were with a small child and did not feel "awkward". On reviedra. Bravo

Day 2

Northeast side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Ecrins National Park, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Pic des Prés les Fonts. All together, your day would be filled with about 5 hours of non-stop fun.

Park
Ecrins National Park is a massive mountain range located between Briancon, Gap, and Grenoble. It covers over 17,000 hectares of glaciers and is home to the magnificent Barre des Ecrins, which stands at 4,102 meters. The park offers harsh yet grandiose mountainous landscapes dominated by La Barre and the imposing north face of the Meije. Visitors can explore the park on foot, by bike or motorbike.
If only I had in fact been able to visit the national park side of the Écrins. But the entire road up to the start of all the hiking routes is closed due to the destruction of La Berarde in a rock slide. I can only hope to go back one day. I'll add a picture of how very beautiful it was.

The difficult part is the climb to the first lake: lac de cerces. Then it becomes easier to the col de cerces. If the weather suddenly takes a turn for the worse: there is an easy short cut between the two lakes. It is not recommended to take the direct path from col de cerces to the other col. A rock avalanche has almost completely wiped out the path. Not for people with fear of heights: We have made a U-turn here... Moest het weer plots sterk omslaan: er is een makkelijke short cut tussen de twee meren. Het is wel af te raden om vanuit col de cerces het rechtstreekse pad te nemen naar de andere col. You've just climbed (cycled) Col du Galibier and started your descent down the Briancon side and drop into Lautaret Lodge for lunch. My riding buddy was famished and had the beef burger which he was well satisfied with. It came with chips, salad and a fried egg on top of the bun!! I settled for the vegetable soup with bread. Very enjoyable. . a tad spicy but a nice thickish consistency. . yummy - just what I needed after a solid climbing. Pleasant staff and good timely service. A good experience.

Yes, we stopped in for a quick break and refreshments. It is fine for the mountain top break. It was a grey wet day when we were there, but on sunny cycling or motorcycle day it will be manic... Large car park and cycle park. Nice to know it is there and serves a purpose.

Stayed there for one night. The views are amazing and the hotel is allright even though it is very run down and the restaurant, atleast the burger and red wine I had, was not enjoyable. The pool water was cold and the jacuzzi water was dirty. A lot to improve but the location makes up for it.

Terrible service on the afternoon of 24 June by a short server with long hair and earing. He was extremely rude and passive aggressive. He brought me a coffee on a dirty mug and when I asked for a clean cup, he started arguing with me, raising his voice. In the end he brought me a second coffee, but in the same dirty cup. Also, the good was really not good. I was sick all afternoon.

I stopped for a coffee and something to eat cycling down from Galibier. The service was fast, but the personal was rude. They are stuck in the mentality from a few decades ago. Avoid them. You are better with the small truck in front of them. Much nicer service. You can use the wooden tables in front of them. And you have coffee, sandwiches and juice.

We stayed for a week through the arrangement of an institution nearby. A group of four people. The restaurant is incredibly fast, food is good enough and the ladies attending are incredibly nice and helpful, nonetheless the guys attending are moody, erratic and not very nice. The place feels like it is stucked in the 50s and the room were we stayed was very stuffy and smelled (first floor). Bathroom was clean when we arrived but there was no cleaning of the room for all the time we were there. Undoubtedly the view is incredibly beautiful and the area is corgeous.

Nestled in the heart of the Serre Chevalier ski resort, Le Flocon Restaurant d'altitude boasts a stunning wooden design that perfectly complements its picturesque surroundings. While dining here can be on the pricier side, it's a small price to pay for such an incredible location. The restaurant tends to get quite busy during lunchtime, so arriving 15 to 30 minutes early is advisable to avoid long queues.
Amazing construction made of carved wood. Also an amazing location, with Serre Chevalier ski resort surrounding the resteraunt. Everything is expensive, but this is to be expected given it's location. If you visit, the resteraunt is very busy during lunchtimes, so you should visit about 15 to 30 minutes before lunchtime, when there is no queue.

We visited this place 4 times in a week, because they have live music every day and the vibe is so good. I give you 4 stars because the tartiflette was medium for me and I made a mistake that I ordered a cappuccino, which was not that I used to, but the espresso was okay😄 Peace

Don’t go here even if you have no other options! The food was worse than the food at my school. It was served cold and tasted… disgusting. The staff was very rude, didn’t bother trying to speak English and we told them clearly that we wanted a small beer, showed them which glass to pick, however they gave us a big (this happened both my father and my mother on two separate times. When we complained they basically told us that it was our own fault. Just look at my picture and tell me if it looks good. Also very pricy. I would rather starve than to go back.

Great for drinks om the terrace. Long waits for the restaurant (20 minutes just to get a menu after the lunch rush was already over for example) but the food itself is delicious and comes in large portions. We didn't try the self service.

Food was ok. Steak haché tasted fine but was served almost cold, I think because they cooked it before the chips were ready and it got cold while waiting. Delivery was particularly slow. By contrast the lasagna was a tad overdone, clearly having sat on the hotplate too long. Food was generally underwhelming for the price or, alternatively, rather overpriced given the quality. On the upside though, the lady serving was uncommonly smiley and friendly for France. So an extra star for that!

Horrible place. Rude staff, one woman in the staff kept sneezing into the food, it takes forever to get just a beer. Really expensive for medioker och bad food. Stay away.

I had the most awful experience I've ever had in a restaurant here. They have a daft system where you pay for your food and then wait at a little hatch for it to arrive (I poked my head in at one point and saw how they serve chips - a big bowl near the hatch and they grab a handful, no gloves, and put them on the plates, evening up as required). It was busy and chaotic. Our friends arrived before us and started their meals. Only two of our meals arrived. There was another lady waiting for some food that hadn't arrived, maybe she took our other two meals, don't know, total chaos. I told the server that we hadn't had all our food. After some back and forth, he relented and brought two more meals which he brought outside (I thought to make up for the delay). He then saw our friends' empty plates and accused us of taking 6 meals instead of 4, in front of the whole restaurant!! We complained to the management who did nothing but offer us some shots instead of an apology. Awful place.
