The Cathedral of Saint Patrick in Dublin is one of the most important religious landmarks in Ireland, and has been a part of the country's history for over 800 years. It is the largest cathedral in Ireland and is home to many beautiful stained glass windows, marble statues, and medieval tiles. The cathedral also plays an important role in literary pilgrimage, as Jonathan Swift once served as dean here.
Beautiful cathedral and park right outside. The stained glass throughout the building is breathtaking. I took one of the audio self guided tours, and that was a nice complement to the signage. I absolutely loved the interactive section - I’ve never seen anything like that in a cathedral, and that was incredible! We went up and bought tickets on the spot - no problem
Moira D — Google review
We purchased tickets in advance so there was no wait. It is such a beautiful cathedral. The architecture and history is amazing. There is a "quiet area" for reflection and prayer, however there lack of respect from other visitors for that area. There is a gift shop area, however most of the items there can be found in other shops around the city.
E G — Google review
We purchased out tickets online ahead of time for an easier entry, and we thoroughly enjoyed our tour here. Audio guides were included with our basic admission but we chose to walk around without it just admiring the architecture and stained glass windows. This is a very neat cathedral, one of the best I've visited on my Europe trips. WAYYYY better than Dublin Castle!!
Alex B — Google review
Really a great visit. We were unable to explore the green due to weather, but the amount of information and things to see inside the cathedral was just amazing. There was so much about the history to read, and the memorials across the walls was such an interesting sight. I personally loved all the stained class. HIGHLY recommend getting there right at opening. You'll be able to beat the tourist groups by just a slim margin, but it makes all the difference. After tours arrived, it was chaotic and crowded, and the tourists were fairly impolite. Get there early and you'll enjoy it way more!
Maddy H — Google review
Visited on self-guided tour on a Monday morning. It wasn't too crowded and we were able to visit each part of the cathedral with space and time to learn about its history and it's stunning architecture at our own pace. Price of admission was either 8 or 10 euros, a steal for the experience.
Tara H — Google review
Amazing cathedral ! The history of this place was amazing. I’m intrigued by the men who made their fortunes selling alcohol also poured their money into churches. It is a beautiful place and I know many have found the love of Christ here for 100’s of years.
Chris C — Google review
Worth a visit if you're interested in religion and history or even art. Beautiful building with great art work on the stained glass. Audio guide offered. Leaflet offered too and there are some guided tours depending on the time. Nice war memorials here too.

Lovely cathedral, there's a lovely park outside and a quaint coffee shop around the corner. There's an entry fee into the cathedral and it's beautiful inside. Good to visit on a lovely sunny afternoon.

Mountain peak
Barnaslingan, a 781-ft. peak, showcases forested inclines and an Ice Age glacial crevasse. It boasts well-defined hiking routes and stands as a cherished walking destination. The tranquil ambiance and abundant trails make it ideal for off-leash dog walks, yet caution is advised due to equestrian presence and deer droppings. Owners must possess firm control over their canines. Part of the Dublin Mountain Way, this intriguing trail entails mild rock climbing.
One of my favourite places to walk. So peaceful and so many trails. Always have my dog off the lead and its the perfect place to let dogs roam but beware of people on horses and also lots of deer dropping around although never seen deer but you really need to be confident in your control over your dog. Part of the Dublin Mountain Way and an interesting trail with a bit of climbing and stepping over rocks. Lovely view of the scalp on the scalp lookout trail.

The Scalp, Barnaslingan, a 12,000 year old Ige Age remnant. The melting, retreating glazier left a huge glazial lake on the north side of that 230 metre high hill. The Scalp, meaning chasm, was the weak spot. The glazial lake's floodwaters, over a 600 year period, tore that V shaped wedge out of that hill, they say. The glazier itself was about 8 times higher than the hill. Granite boulders pepper the sides of the V shaped wedge.

Historical landmark
Nestled in the heart of County Wicklow, Enniskerry Village Square is a delightful destination that beautifully blends history with modern charm. Just a short drive from Dublin and Bray, this quaint village offers an array of eateries and scenic walking trails for those eager to explore. The iconic Powerscourt Gardens serve as the centerpiece of attraction, while the nearby Powerscourt Waterfall beckons adventurous spirits about 8km away.
We were here for Christmas Fun Day. Very lovely place with small coffee shops, Art gallery, a Christmas market, and a magic atmosphere. I think it is a nice place to come over just to hike around and stop for food or drinks at any time of the year
Helen A — Google review
A lovely village to enjoy and explore, plenty of refreshments and places to enjoy while sitting outdoors, the school of art is beside the square and the road from Bray is full of beautiful stone buildings on the right as you come off the m11. A charming village and well worth a visit, cheers
Michael G — Google review
I'm sure this village is beautiful in its own right but Disney have raised the bar in quaintness. Over the top on everything thing as Disney does best. Have fun filming there and don't forget to come back and visit.
Marion R — Google review
We went for a visit to see the town when it was decorated for filming of Disney's Disenchanted, some of which you can see in the photos. It was very interesting to see the town being turned into the movie set. However, it was very disappointing to find out, once we've arrived, that no effort, whatsoever has been made to accommodate and allow people like us to see it. The main carpark was closed for visitors, residents only allowed, and there were no alternative arrangements for parking. We felt very unwelcome in the town.
Justina J — Google review
A very small village square, but charming nonetheless. Be sure to take photos by the bright, colorful shops and houses. Tip: While you're nearby, don't miss visiting Powerscourt Hotel and Waterfall.
Mohitt J — Google review
A lovely Victorian town currently (dis)enchanted, as Disney are shooting there. Always a lovely stroll and great for a break after a hike in the Wicklow mountains. Good value for money in the restaurants and cafes.
Stefan G — Google review
Very happening town. The square has all the amenities and food and drink joints. Due to The Disney Movie Shoot, it has been a vey popular place. The car park is quite big, it has a park and woods behind it. Great walks. The place is moderately crowded. There are pay public toilets on the junction. The houses are very pretty and nice cafes around. It's wonderful to take a stroll around.
Tanushree K — Google review
Fabulous town! We went & it's a pity they were taking all the movie set down while we were there, but still we got to see most of it. The 1 star loss, was due to the ornary man in the main for gift shop (I think it was called Edgards). He barked that I wasn't to come in with my son I his buggy. He wanted my to park it outside WITH my son it is. I refused& I parked him to the side of an aisle just so my son could look at everything, while my daughter had a chance to look properly. He was rude to every since child who walked through the door which was so stupid as his entire shop, catered to children!+!!

Pepperpot Tower is a must-see attraction within the estate, featuring a design inspired by Lady Wingfield's 7.5cm-tall pepper pot. Visitors can enjoy stunning views of the Japanese Gardens and the surrounding area from atop the tower. Additionally, the tower overlooks an animal cemetery where Wingfield pets and even a beloved milking cow have been laid to rest, each with surprisingly personal epitaphs.
Beautiful ancient architecture. Must see for thaose enjoying architecture and history.

Italian restaurant
Nestled in the picturesque town of Enniskerry, County Wicklow, Emilia's Restaurant is a delightful Italian eatery that promises an unforgettable dining experience. This charming spot, located just above the bustling street shops, exudes warmth and authenticity. With its inviting ambiance and exceptional culinary offerings, Emilia's has become a beloved destination for both locals and visitors alike. The menu features mouthwatering pasta dishes that often steal the spotlight from their equally delicious pizzas.
Great food in a cute town center! A bit hard to find but is on the second floor through the doorway pictured. Got a couple pasta dishes and the tiramisu and all was delicious. Very comfortable and cozy atmosphere. Definitely worth the walk from the Powerscourt hotel.
Linda S — Google review
The place is very cosi and really looks like Italy. The food is amazing and the Italian staff are very kind. I love eating here and during the summer we like to order a takeaway and to seat on the bench that is just outside of the restaurant. This time we ordered a pizza, a “calzone” and chips, finishing with our favourites dessert, “Pannacotta” and “Tiramisú”.
Thais H — Google review
It was a quick pick on a Sunday afternoon while on the drive from Wicklow Mountain. As we were passing Enniskerry Village and saw an Italian restaurant here on Google Maps that opens at 17h which was perfect in our case. Very pleasant restaurant with a lovely welcome and great service. Pasta options with noticeable fresh used vegetables and full of flavour. Nicely plated and just enough. Especially enjoyed well-paired red wine with Steak & Ragu (so good). Desert, Tiramisu, was such a refreshment at the end as it was NOT full of sugar so you can savour it in delight 😋.

Without a doubt the best ravioli I e had in my life! This sauce will haunt me for ever! Owned, run and operated by an Italian couple who know what they are doing and are so presale and fun! 5 stars is not enough!

My husband and I ate here several times during our honeymoon in Ireland. This was way back in January and we are still craving the food! The owner and his wife were incredible people to share a conversation with, and the food and atmosphere were unmatched. Can’t wait to return, with love, from Texas!
Ashley A — Google review
This was a cute seemingly authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of Enniskerry, Ireland. Although we were able to get a table I would recommend a reservation as this is not a very large place, or you could order to go. The pizza was delicious and the ambiance was lovely! It was located a floor above the street shops and the business sign over the entrance door was missing so it was a little hard to find the entrance but it was certainly worth it! Open until half nine on a Friday night :)
Dana U — Google review
We were worried as we could not find signs for the place but after stepping into the place you KNEW this was going to be a great eating experience. The ambiance is wonderful and the food...best on our 4.5 week trip!!! I had the scallopini (highly recommend), husband had pizza, daughter had mushroom ravioli (clearly freshly made and absolutely delicious), etc. We had desserts, drinks and our party of 6 loved it!!! HIGHLY recommend this place!!!!!

Kingfishers Kitchen is a charming establishment situated in a picturesque village in Wicklow. Despite arriving shortly before closing time, the two amiable ladies working there graciously served me. Nice spot for breakfast or lunch. We went there a few times during our stay in Enniskerry and enjoyed the food each time! From their cappuccinos and irish breakfasts to their soups and lunch items, everything is delightful. Apart from one of our visits where we were waiting for our food for 40+ min (hence removing a service star), the other two visits here were wonderful.

Historic Sites
Powerscourt House & Gardens is a grand 18th-century mansion surrounded by renowned landscaped grounds featuring themed gardens and a majestic waterfall. The estate village of Enniskerry, historically tied to the local landlords, the Viscounts Powerscourt, grew around this magnificent house. Over the years, it has been host to notable events such as King George IV's visit in 1821 and conferences on unfulfilled Bible prophecies in the 1830s.
Powerscourt is, without a doubt, home to the most beautiful gardens I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. From the moment you step out onto the terrace and see the sweeping view down to the lake with the Sugar Loaf mountain in the distance, you know you are somewhere truly special. The scale and design of the formal Italian Gardens are breathtaking, but the entire estate is a walker's paradise. We spent hours meandering along the pristine paths, discovering one stunning area after another. Every corner reveals a new, perfectly framed vista. The highlight for us was the Japanese Garden. It’s an incredibly serene and beautiful space, with its charming bridges, stone lanterns, and winding paths. It feels like stepping into another world, and we spent a long time just soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. The entire estate is immaculately maintained. After a long and enjoyable walk, it was lovely to browse the shops in the main house and relax with a coffee. It's an experience that feels luxurious from start to finish. If you are looking for a place to walk, relax, and be surrounded by incredible beauty.

This is definitely a place to visit if you are in Ireland. The garden in the back is very beautiful with a lot of very tall trees with a very large pond. The grass looks like artificial turf but it is very manicured and real. The property has a tower you can walk in which is about 4 stories tall. It has a Japanese garden that is very nice. Definitely a nice place to visit.
Kobe D — Google review
Our visit to Powerscourt House and Gardens, followed by the majestic Powerscourt Waterfall, was nothing short of magical. Accompanied by our French student, we stepped into a world where history, nature, and imagination blend seamlessly. From the moment we entered the estate, we were transported into a realm of elegance and grandeur. The sweeping views of the gardens, perfectly sculpted terraces, and the distant Sugarloaf Mountain created a picture straight from a painting. Walking through the Italian gardens, the Japanese garden, and among the statues and ancient trees, we found ourselves in quiet reflection, wondering how the inhabitants of this great house must have lived, surrounded daily by such splendour and tranquillity. Our student was captivated, not only by the beauty but by the stories hidden in every stone and fountain. Powerscourt does not just impress the eye, it stirs the imagination. It invites you to dream of a bygone era, where life moved with grace, art, and purpose. The journey continued to the waterfall, Ireland’s highest, where nature took centre stage in all her glory. The thunder of cascading water, the wild forest around us, and the fresh air filled with mist created a powerful contrast to the cultivated elegance of the gardens. Here, she felt the raw, untamed beauty of Ireland, majestic, timeless, and free. Powerscourt is more than a visit; it is an experience that lingers in the heart. A world of enchantment and wonder, where past and present meet, and where every visitor young or old, leaves dreaming a little more deeply.

What a wonderful place to visit! So beautiful, loved the gardens, especially the Japanese and Rose. It was a very refreshing walk. Would recommend to everyone. Also liked talking to the staff that I encountered, a lovely woman caretaker who talked to us about the gardens and the swan. There were also many cute ducks. Thanks to the staff for taking great care of the place!

The sun came out as we arrived and this is a.place where the weather makes a big difference. We went on the red route 1 hour walk around the gardens. It is very impressive. The House is give over to shops and the cafe in the most part, and the shops are aimed at international tourists. The cafe serves great food, or just a coffee and cake if that's your preference. A big car park, helpful for those of us touring with campervans. Free car parking and the fee for the gardens is very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Just an hour, or even an hour and fifteen minutes, from Dublin, this visit is a must-see. What a delight for the senses! Your eyes are amazed, your nostrils enchanted... What a profusion of delicate scents, what a bucolic stroll in the heart of sublime nature. Vibrant flowerbeds, majestic trees, carefully composed landscapes: everything invites contemplation. Upon arrival, don't forget to pick up the map at the entrance: it will guide you through the richness and diversity of these enchanting gardens. You will discover the Japanese Garden, the animal cemetery, the rhododendron path, the dolphin pond, the Italian garden, and even the Tower Valley. Our favorite? The Walled Garden – a festival of color and floral elegance, a true living work of art. Don't miss the sumptuous greenhouses, where a delicate scent of exquisite botanical compositions wafts. We strolled there for two hours, taking in the magic of the place.

A wonderful place to visit if you are in Ireland. A place of serenity and a great opportunity to reconnect with nature and all that it offers. Easy to get to, big parking and if you are into golf, you will be pleased with the course. There is a restaurant on site and lots of shops to explore. Prices are reasonable and garden tickets definitely worth it. Make sure you visit the gardens on a nice day and enjoy the sunshine in the nature. It's one of those places you keep coming back for more. Definitely recommending it to everyone.

Thank you Heather for your compassion and understanding yesterday. The painting is now taking pride of place at the top of my stairs. As I said to you, it speaks to me and you understood that. You are a truly lovely person ❤

The Cool Planet Experience is a unique and educational attraction that promotes eco-friendliness. It offers an engaging way for children, teenagers, and adults to learn about global warming and greenhouse gases while emphasizing the importance of saving the planet. The museum provides bands to track visitors' ecological footprints, encouraging them to improve their impact over time. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Absolutely brilliant experience, and such an eye opener, there should be more places like this, maybe even pop ups at children’s schools or community centers. Colin Miley was our guide through the experience, couldn’t recommend him enough, perfect for team building or corporate events
Christopher B — Google review
Several interactive rooms explaining the consequences of global warming. Very enjoyable kids. Premises and equipment are in very good condition.
Ignacio C — Google review
Have been here twice now with the kids such an unique and informative day out, really encourages you to be more ecofriendly, can use the bands when you come back to see how much your footprint has improved. Amazing for children to get an understanding about global warming & green house gasses teaches how we can help save our planet in a fun, engaging way while still getting the very serious reality across. Would highly recommend for kids, teenagers and adults alike. Super friendly knowledgeable staff.

Great experience! Very informative and fun for all the family. Makes you really want to make real changes to your lifestyle to help our planet. It should be mandatory for all schools throughout the country to visit Cool Planet. We loved it!!!
Siobhan K — Google review
It is very interesting with many facts that would shock you. It really has raised awareness in my family and the house. Very fun games and suitable for all ages (as long as they read) the staff are helpful and give a thorough tutorial on how to play the games.

It's beautiful place, gardens.

Very interesting centre. Make sure you include in your students tours. Check your carbon footprint while having fun. Try and commit yourself to help the planet. Thanks But what the use of a cool planet experience, when Dublin City Council and the Minister of Transport consider it too expensive to invest in electric buses when they buy new ones????

Avoca Powerscourt is a charming destination with a variety of experiences to offer. The Powerscourt Arms provides excellent service and plentiful, delicious food for events. The cafe offers first-class, tasty meals served by professional and friendly staff. Visitors can explore breathtaking gardens suitable for both kids and adults. While the shops and garden center are filled with beautiful items, they may be a bit pricey. The audio guide provides helpful information but may come off as pompous to some.
The gardens are breathtaking at any time of the year. Kids and adults can enjoy the experience. The cafe is full of delicious food and the shops and garden centre are loaded with beautiful things, but it is a bit pricey. The audio guide is helpful and informative but is also very pompous.

Gone to the dogs. Pre-COVID Avoca used to be a beautiful place to go to. It's gone down far down the hill on everything - food, once delicious quality is now tasteless, stale and overpriced. I've put up with it as a quick stop off, but today...the stuffy smell of old food, the flies in the restaurant, the awful new decor - dreary dark ceiling and lighting, and rotten little wicker chairs replaced the comfy ones. I've even had to bring back salad to their branch in Kilmacanogue as it was rancid, stored open air beside the butcher section. I don't know what they are doing, but a once treasured Irish gem is truly lost it's shine. Writing this sitting in my car with a takeaway tea that cost me €3.50 - the taste was so bad - didn't taste like tea, but metallic - a vending machine would do better - how do you store the boiling water and is that cleaned and with what? It's too awful. You're not Harrods, Avoca, the local petrol station does better, so price accordingly with the low quality you're doling out. #RipOffIreland

Very picturesque scenery. First coffee I'd to dump it was cold second coffee was the same. Two girls on but very slow to serve people. Toilets not stocked up with toilet paper or kept a check on. Should be more handrails for steps. Tables very dirty.
Siobhan K — Google review
Cafe good value disappointing shaving foam cream with the scone and jam, toilets functional but Boring a miss match with the restoration Statues of Greek gods like overseers frown if these are filmed

It was a sunny day, so we sat outside, with beautiful views. Very nice staff, great service, clean. We got cakes, which were fresh and tasty.
Jolita J — Google review
It was pleasant....there is a good choice of food on the menu. The beef and Guinness pie was ok, it's served in a pudding bowl so it looks a little like something you would serve to a child and I was offered a choice of salads with this as its included in the price, couldn't really deal with a stew in a bowl with salads, but to be fair they reduced the price which is a nice touch...Coeliac in the party so menu is hugely limited which was a pity....nice staff and nice room, views out to the garden's are stunning.

I thoroughly enjoyed this brilliant surprise which I had mistakenly thought only for children. The minature representations of 3 of Irelands finest houses ... Carton House, Castletown House and Lenster House are simply breathtaking. True craftsmen and artists workmanship is on display. I would so love to see a programme on Irish TV talking us through these 3 heritage houses. Its not just the hand carved facades but the level of detail on the miniature carved furniture, Waterford Crystal ... both tableware and chandeliers ... the minature perfect books ... the ceilings... the staircases... I could go on and on! But it really has to be seen to be believed More should be done to promote this amazing place which works so well at Powerscourt and only costs only €5 to visit with funds raised going to children's charities. A big thanks to the excellent guide who really helped my American friend and I get the most out of our visit last week. Thank you!

Oh this was a cute place. Young children will like it. Of course it is very small and you'd finish it in about 15-20 minutes since it is not interactive in any way.

Japanese Garden

Garden
The Japanese Garden at Powerscourt Gardens in Kildare is a serene oasis that seamlessly blends the lush beauty of Ireland with the tranquil aesthetics of Japan. The garden features symbolic landscaping that represents life's journey, complete with tranquil ponds and carefully curated elements. It offers more than just a botanical experience, providing visitors with a deep dive into philosophy, culture, and mindfulness. The Pepperpot Tower, modeled after Lady Wingfield's tiny pepper pot, adds a unique touch to the garden.
Beautiful garden and their also had canteen with good menu variant , nd souvenir store available with raw honey is authentic you can bought .
NeZz M — Google review
Beautiful but small, variety of plants and trees. Definitely not wheelchair accessible throughout as lots of steps. Can bring buggy through but be prepared to carry over 3-4 steps at a time, some at an incline and many downhill as the entire Japanese garden is downhill and a steep climb back. It’s a shame as some of it has lovely paved paths but to access the pretty scenery you have to go over bridges with steps at the start and end.
G — Google review
Another beautiful part of the Powerscourt Estate and with some very nice features. In full bloom it is a joy to behold and walking through it enjoying the sounds of water flowing makes for a relaxing day out, cheers

Kildare's Japanese Gardens are an oasis of tranquillity melding Ireland's verdant beauty with Japan's serene aesthetics. Symbolic landscaping represents life's journey, amidst tranquil ponds and artful elements. Significantly more than a botanical tour, it's a deep dive into philosophy, culture and mindfulness.

Whether you choose to dine indoors or enjoy your meal al fresco, Poppies Cafe promises an experience that feels both cozy and refreshing.
This is a must stop after a long ride over the wicklow mountains. I was impressed with the number of cyclists there. They even have extra racks for bikes. The food was really good too. I'm definitely going back.
Alejandro L — Google review
We ended up at Poppies after a good hike in the early hours on a sunny weekend. We just went for coffees which were pretty good. We opted for their regular milk Latte and Flat White which was good. They have a self service concept for drinks and saw serving being down for food orders. I found less vegetarian options on display and didn’t have anything to eat then. But overall a lovely place with good seating inside as well as outside the cafe. Very much accessible by public transport as well and is a must visit while in the area. Would love to go back again for the views and coffee.
Dev A — Google review
Lovely set up with plenty of al fresco seating on a closed section of the road, with a handful of smaller tables inside. The staff were friendly. It was busy on a Saturday mid-morning with lots of cyclists. The food options were great though a lot of it seems to be already cooked so the food ordered tends to be reheated. My quiche was decent, baked potato was nice though I could taste from the potato skin it was reheated. Carrot cake was delicious though.
John K — Google review
We arrived just before closing time and the staff were very accommodating with our late request for food and drink. We had excellent coffees, a chicken sandwich and a sausage roll which we had on the tables outside as it was really sunny. A perfect late afternoon snack!
Luz L — Google review
Nice place to stop by for breakfast or lunch. We had Fritata, Mac n cheese and chicken tikka wrap, all this topped with good salads on the side. The food was nice except the chicken tikka wrap being ok. The salads were top notch. The place was packed as it was a weekend.

We had a good time there ! We ordered a muffin that was delicious and enjoyed the table outside. I highly recommend :)

Light and full Irish breakfast at its best for us (See Image). The good stuff 😃
Yorck K — Google review
Great place for a bite after a hike ✨️ value for money with options like a soup and sandwich for €10. Had a delicious chicken and stuffing sandwich but the vegetable soup was a bit bland. Music is very chill and adds to the quaint atmosphere. Gets rather busy around lunchtime.
