Mediterranean restaurant
Kapetanova Kuća, located near Hotel Ostrea, is a renowned restaurant owned by the Kralj family. Housed in the former residence of the captain responsible for Europe's longest defensive wall in Ston, this establishment has been recognized as one of Croatia's top 100 restaurants. The menu, crafted by culinary experts, features delectable dishes such as shrimps in potato jackets and cuttlefish brodetto with polenta.
A very nice and atmospheric restaurant near the bay. We were recommended this restaurant from our friends, and were not disappointed. The menu has a big variety of seafood, but we went there specifically for oysters. The price was good: 2,50€ per oyster. Also they had a very good selection of drinks to pair the oysters with: bubbles, rose, white (including wines from other European countries). Oysters are fresh and served on ice. The overall atmosphere is very relaxed and pleasing. Tables nicely set up. Per sitting you also get a couvert charge, but it includes a very nice appetizer so all is very fair and nice.

This was my second favorite restaurant in Croatia. We had the shrimp buzzara and black risotto. They were absolutely delicious. I loved our server, an older gentleman who was warm and hospitable. He strongly suggested the pasta dessert, but also gave us a thin slice of the fig orange cake which was my first choice. He was right, the pasta cake was delicious and better than the other one.
Michelle C — Google review
Excellent food, very good portions. Servers were very attentive and gave great recommendations. Fresh oysters were plump and sweet. Recommend the black risotto, grilled scampi, grilled fish fillet. Great local wine list. One of the best meals in Croatia!
Audrey L — Google review
Incredible meal started with the most delicious bread and fish pate. Our server was so welcoming and funny, we had a great time with him. The food was fresh, the views beautiful and the vibe chill. One of our top two meals in Croatia. We'll definitely return! Thank you for an amazing dining experience!

I travel a lot and I eat a lot. In the past let’s say 10 years I was on the quest searching the best seafood pasta and I think I tasted it in more than 100 restaurants across few continents. The other day I visited this place with family after I tried their food back in 2021 when we been there for the first time and were blown away. Food is still fantastic, but what stands out is “domaca tjestenina s kozicama”, we took black risotto, tuna, seafood spaghetti, but homemade pasta with gambori/domaca tjestenina s kozicama is one mindblowing dish. They have wines you can pair food with. I could eat only this dish every day. If you are nearby and fancy seafood, you should not miss this place. Staff is great, polite, accomodating and relaxed with smiley faces. Venue has a nice terace. I would come to Ston even only to have a lunch here. Guys keep it up! 🙌

Absolutely loved, and I mean LOVED their Prawn Soup. It was so good, I’ll be chasing that food high for the rest of my life. Creamy, sweet prawns in an excellent broth and dressed with a fruity olive oil. The oysters were amazing. Had the mixed shellfish (clams, mussels, etc) in an olive oil and garlic sauce (buzara na bijelo …I think it was called). Server spoke excellent English even though we had a Croatian in our party. He was warm and welcoming and didn’t mind my lame jokes (or at least he’s an excellent actor if he didn’t like the jokes.) Had a couple of different glasses of surprising wine. Croatia needs to start marketing the hell out of their wines. They are really good. We went in “shoulder-season” of the end of September so it wasn’t crowded, which was nice.

We travelled here on our way back to Dubrovnik with a substantial detour but we're on a quest to eat the best seafood in the country. Indeed the best seafood we had during our 8 day croatia visit and we have been all over. SUPER fresh, cooked to perfection. We had the prawn pasta, black risotto, fish carpacio platter etc. All paired with a main of grilled fish fillet. Absolute perfection. Not to forget to mention the oysters. These were amongst the best ive ever had and ive been north of 40 countries. Absolutely will come back next time around. Special thanks to Brane for the outstanding service and recommendation

Mali Ston

Mali Ston is a charming village located in Croatia, just a kilometer northeast of the larger village of Ston. It is connected to Ston by the historic Walls of Ston and can be easily reached from Dubrovnik via the D414 highway. The walls, built in the 14th and 15th centuries as an additional defense for the Republic of Ragusa, include three fortresses and several towers.

Seafood restaurant
Bota Šare Mali Ston restaurant & oyster bar is a renowned family-owned gastronomic establishment that has expanded to multiple locations in Croatia. The original restaurant, situated in an ancient medieval castle by the water in Mali Ston, offers a rich culinary experience rooted in the family's history of wine making and oyster farming.
Absolutely worth every cent you spend here. We came based off the reviews and they were accurate. We tried for the first time oysters and even though they had very distinctive and strange taste for first timers, they were hyper fresh and tasty. The tuna tartare is amazingggg - I could have eaten a ton from it. The service is fast, professional and helpful. Shout out to our waiter Denis who was smiling at all times, cracking jokes, but more importantly knowledgeable about the food and wine. We had a blast and I cannot wait to visit again.
Gabriela D — Google review
The food was awesome, we ordered some starters (we also got one extra), traditional oysters and mixed shellfish. Everything was flawless. The waiter was extra nice. The setting was both cosy and chic. Great experience!
Julija K — Google review
Bota Šare is beautifully located in a historic salt warehouse right by the water in Mali Ston. The atmosphere is rustic yet elegant, with views over the harbor that set the perfect tone for a memorable meal. The menu showcases authentic Dalmatian cuisine – from homemade bread and seafood risottos to freshly caught fish – but the true highlight is the world-famous Mali Ston oysters, served fresh and prepared in creative ways. What makes the experience stand out even more is the friendly, professional, and knowledgeable staff, who are often praised by name for their warm service. Prices are fair for the quality, and the restaurant consistently ranks among the top dining spots in the region. A must-visit if you want to experience the flavors of Dalmatia in a truly authentic setting.
Goran M — Google review
Definitely worths one hour bus ride from Dubrovnik to come here. The seafoods is the best in our trip. Fresh oyster is must-try in Ston which will not disappoint you. Mussels are fresh and large in portion. Black risotto is amazing with lots of seafood inside.
Suky C — Google review
This is a nice restaurant with a very good atmosphere and service. Unfortunately to me the food was their weakest link. They specialize in oysters and they were very good. However, we ordered the Dalmatian Muscles and they were bad. It appeared that they had been pre-steamed, then heated to serve. Half the muscles had shriveled up and were hard; inedible. Ordered an Amberjack steak (fish), and it was too dry. Perhaps our expectations were too high since we had heard about this restaurant for days. Overall it was fine.
Robert M — Google review
The high prices here were for the views and the fresh seafood. The tuna and oysters are as good as mentioned by the reviews here. The surly service and the soggy napkins took away from an otherwise lovely lunch break from the long drive from Split to Dubrovnik.
Colin C — Google review
Great place for having lunch. Oysters were extremly fresh. The nigiris not so much. The fish was delicious.
Jose F — Google review
The oysters were nice and fresh. But unfortunately we were disappointed by the tuna fillet. The seasoning was a lot and it was overcooked and hard to chew. The potato and spinach side lacked in flavor too. Service was friendly.

Ston City Walls

4.7
(54)
Heritage building
Ston City Walls, originally constructed between the 13th and 17th centuries, stand as a monumental sight near the historic Old Town. For a fee, visitors can access the entire wall area and embark on a one-way journey from the old town to Mali Ston. The walkway offers stunning views of the bay and salt meadows of Ston. While some find the steep stairs challenging, many appreciate this unique experience and recommend it for anyone visiting the area.
Really great views of the town and surrounding mountains. I recommend entering via the "left" entrance which is a bit out of the more popular area. That way, you can ascend via more of a ramp/incline rather than steps and cross to descend via steps. You can stay on the main wall or you can ascend further (via stairs) and curve around the mountain to see the 3rd entrance/exit and get some phenomenal views without a lot of people. It is a lot of work and the stairway at this point is narrow, but it's easy to let someone pass. There are also sections to rest. Then, at the top, it's relatively flat and you can take in the views and hopefully get a nice cool breeze as reward. Once you're done, you can walk down the steps and out the "middle"/most popular entrance.
Sheena — Google review
In the 14th century when the Pelješac Peninsula was part of the Dubrovnik Republic a seven-kilometer network of stone walls was built over a high hill to connect the salt pans at Ston to the port at Mali Ston, Croatia. Originally intended to defend the city's precious saltworks, the surviving 5.5 km of walls can be climbed by tourists for a fee.
David S — Google review
Fantastic place, brilliant views from the walls, amazing to think how old they are, what an incredible feat of engineering
Stephen P — Google review
Old Town of Ston, Croatia – A Hidden Gem with Epic Walls If you're exploring southern Croatia, do not skip Ston. This charming medieval town totally surprised me — in the best way possible. It's quiet, authentic, and has one of the most unique features I've seen in the region: massive stone walls stretching up the hill like something straight out of Game of Thrones. The moment you arrive, the vibe is different. It’s not packed with tourists like Dubrovnik, but it still carries that old-world magic. You walk through narrow streets lined with stone houses, small local shops, and friendly faces. It feels lived-in, not just staged for tourists. But the real star? The Walls of Ston. They’re over 5 kilometers long, snaking dramatically over the hillside, and are often called the "European Wall of China." Hiking them is a must — it’s a bit of a workout, especially on a hot day, but the views are more than worth it. You get sweeping panoramas of the town, the salt pans, and the green landscape all around. Bonus: there’s a calm, peaceful energy here. Sit at a café in the square, order a coffee or some fresh seafood, and just breathe. It’s Croatia without the chaos. Ston feels like a secret that somehow hasn’t been spoiled yet. A place where history, nature, and local life still blend together beautifully. Highly recommended if you want a real, grounded Croatian experience — with some epic walls on top.
Eusha E — Google review
Great pit stop between the oysters and the vineyards - a little bakery in the square sells massive cherry filled pastries for 1.5 Euros!!! 😎

We went for Ston to Mali Ston on the wall, there are a lot of stairs, but it was a good workout with nice views.

Stalwart stone wall popular for countryside views & access to a quaint town, castle & church.
Beautiful view above Ston Wall. There are 2 hikes to the wall: one is "shorter" and forms almost an arch on the mountain, while the other is much, much higher towards the top of the mountain. If you take the shorter hike, when facing the wall, take the entrance on the right hand side. There are a lot of steps but the rise is gradual. For those with mobility issues, I recommend exiting on the same side that you came up on. (The start of the entrance on the left side when facing the wall has much steeper stairs at the start of the hike).
Emmgee — Google review
Nice walk, although a bit challenging. It's one way, so you have to go all the way, and there are A LOT of steps. Don't go if you have a baby stroller or have mobility issues. They have a city parking lot, 1€ per hour. All in all, a sight to behold. Be sure to visit 👍
Tomislav K — Google review
Great historic site and long walk, luckily you have 2 options the short trail or the long one. No shade, in summer bring water with you and wear hat or cap. The view of the city of Ston is nice.
Rania S — Google review
Gorgeous views over Ston and the Mali Ston fortress. The Wall walk takes approximately 45 minutes one way and costs 10€ or 5€ for children and students. The combined ticket also includes entry to the Fortress in Ston. It may get very hot during the summer day as there's no shade on the way up, consider visiting the site in the evening.
Ivan C — Google review
This 'Great Wall of Europe' (5km) in Ston has a fascinating history dating back to 1330 - see Wikipedia page. It is a lovely old town with salt plains too...
R C — Google review
Wow, breathtaking views. The walk from Ston to Mali Ston on the walls takes about 45 minutes and it requires some effort, but you are awarded with incredible views. There's a sidewalk between Ston and Mali Ston if you need to come back without going on the walls again.
Razvan E — Google review
The Walls of Ston, often called the “European Great Wall of China,” are an impressive fortress system built to protect the town and its historic salt pans. Their length and defensive design resemble the Great Wall of China, offering both stunning views and a fascinating look into Croatia’s history.
Toni K — Google review
These ancient city walls offer a unique and rewarding hike. The climb is intense, with lots of stairs, but the panoramic views from the top make it worth every step. You’ll see the salt flats, surrounding hills, and the historic town of Ston from above.

Nestled just a stone's throw from the port in Mali Ston, Vila Koruna Restaurant offers a unique blend of culinary delights and rich local history. During our visit, we were warmly welcomed by owner Svetan Pejic, who shared fascinating insights about the nearby saltworks that have been hand-harvested since ancient times. The restaurant is not only known for its seafood but also boasts stunning views of the well-preserved medieval walls connecting Ston and Mali Ston.
This lovely place in Ston, right on the water, brings in fresh oysters, fish, and other seafood daily from the bay. The food was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the staff was friendly and very helpful. We shared a nice bottle of white wine and ended up sitting there admiring the atmosphere for three whole hours! It was simply amazing.

Fresh oysters are highly recommended. We tried the grilled fresh fish as well. It was very good. We met the owner and he explained the history of Ston and the salt produce.

Not really happy. The food was ok but not perfect. Had an oyster before dinner that was nice, but was charged 15 euro for a small 20cl bottle. Discovered it when we was home and should split the tab with our friends. One of us ordered a non alcohol beer and got a normal one, when they should change it i got it in my knees. Accidents can happen, but won't go back or recommend it to anyone.
Micke L — Google review
Great place to try sea food. Fresh oysters are much cheaper than in the bar right next to it. Excellent view, friendly staff.
Irina O — Google review
I came here for a black beer which was very good (bottle) and ended up seduced into having a dinner of Mussels cooked in garlic which could not be fresher n I have Bakus Ston to compare with. When I say seduced, I had the choice of 3 restaurants as I'm staying here n the other two were more expensive n more fine dining. It's restaurants or go hungry as Mali Ston pop 250 has nothing else. As a solo budget traveller, it was a simple decision. If food is ur priority, you won't be disappointed here. Good people, good food.
Ed L — Google review
Very tasty oysters, really good price. They offered to catch a fish ourselves which was a fun activity.

This place was absolutely amazing. Antonio and his son Marco run it and we couldn't believe how welcoming they were. Antonio was extremely funny and loved taking pics with us. A must do when traveling between Dubrovnik and Split. It's worth making the stop. Yes, the food was top notch.

Probably the best meal I've had in my life. Very homey vibes, the staff are great, welcoming, professional and share their good mood. The place is warm and cozy, with great views. There are fish tanks inside the dining area, so you can be sure the food is fresh. It is not only fresh, but also delicious! With every bite time stops and makes you enjoy the moment. I can't overstate how well the food was prepared. And they even gave us a gift upon departure:) I recommend this place with all my heart, it's the best❤️

Stagnum, located in Ston, Croatia, is a charming family-friendly restaurant offering a diverse menu featuring fish and seafood dishes like mussels and squid ink risotto, as well as pizza and steak options. Tucked away on a picturesque back street, the restaurant provides an enchanting dining experience with exceptional service. The secluded location adds to its captivating ambiance. Guests can enjoy their meals in the lovely outdoor garden while savoring juicy and flavorful mussels or indulging in delicious pizzas.
Don't be fooled by the fact that the restaurant is away from the main square and from where most of the tourists are sitting. The food here was delicious and the staff was very friendly. We had the fish platter for 2 (which could even be enough for 3) and loved every bite of. Would absolutely recommend.

Nice restaurant in Ston. Just had some pizza but they were tasty. I only wondered that they don’t serve olive oil for the pizza even if you ask but you can get tabasco. Nice place inside in the shadow. Friendly and attentive service.
Yo L — Google review
We chose Stagnum due to it's high rating and general praises read on the reviews. We were quite looking forward to this meal, though I must be honest and say it wasn't anywhere close to what we expected. Starting with the positives, the location is really nice with its own back garden, giving a really nice setting. We also have a nice waiter who, although forgetting our glass of wine, spoke excellent english and was extremely polite. Now, the negatives. We took a Beefsteak and Green Seafood Pasta. I asked for the beef to be cooked rare, Unfortunately it was just about blue (if not raw) as per photo. This was quite disappointing - understanding this is a fish restaurant, you'd still expect a chef to know how to cook a steak as per clients request. As regards to the Green Seafood Pasta, the pasta was well overcooked, the octopus was chewy (again, overcooked) and the mussels were not cleaned. Moreover, the sauce was full of broken shells. We're not the kind of people who stir an issue up in the middle of other guests dinners; but we do suggest making things clear with them when ordering your food as to ensure that food is cooked well, and to avoid our same disappointment.
Kris F — Google review
We came to this restaurant from Dubrovnik twice. Seafood was great, good portion and fresh. My wife had squid and she said that it was the best. The chocolate lava cake was exquisite! Totally worth the trip from Dubrovnik and the best food we had in Croatia.
Rahul B — Google review
Just had a fantastic meal. The ambience, the service and the food was fantastic. We both had beef steak cooked to perfection. The accompanying vegetables and home cooked chips were delicious. But the wine OMG. After we settled the bill we bought a litre of house red (from the family vinyard) to take home as it is absolutely beautiful 😍
Helen C — Google review
We’ve ordered their Chicken soup (that costed €5) expecting a good quality broth. We got an instant noodle soup that tasted terribly, had a small piece of chicken (its captured on the photo) and barely any noodles. We asked to speak to the manager and eventually had an argument about the disgusting, cheapest instant soup you can have. He just said “You shoul’ve asked if its homemade or instant. Every restaurant serves instant soup.” I personally have had many restaurant soups, but they were NEVER INSTANT. Then after 3 minutes of having an argument he left. We went to pay and his mother came out. She started talking ahout how she makes homemade oyster soup and homemade fish soup. And if we’re expecting her to kill chicken to make a homemade soup. Then she proceeded to make a movement signaling “slitting her throat open” when talking about killing the chicken. She said how dare we talk bad about their business. Then she turned around and walked away and then we paid. Even for the instant soup.

The pizza here is something special, because it doesn’t just fill my stomach, it fills my heart too. On top of that, both the seafood and the meat dishes are outstanding and fresh. The staff are truly the best: kind, attentive, and always smiling. This place is more than a restaurant for me, it’s somewhere I know I’ll keep coming back to for the rest of my life.

Konoba Bakus is a renowned seafood restaurant located in the charming town of Ston, Croatia. It is celebrated for its exquisite seafood specialties and some of the finest shellfish along the Adriatic coast. Diners can enjoy their meals at long tables in the alleyway outside under the shade of canopies while indulging in an extensive wine selection.
Nice resto in Ston, we came between our drive from Split to Dubrovnik. No prior bookings and though we would have love to sit outside (fully reserved and occupied), they did have a table for us indoors. Service was prompt, though all sections were very occupied. Started with fresh oysters - which were nice and fresh! If you come you HAVE TO try the seafood risotto, we've had one at most restaurants we ate at in Croatia and this was one of the best. The risotto was extremely well flavoured and full of seafood flavour. The serving was also very generous. The grilled squid was also great - did not like the boiled veggies which it came with which also made the entire plate very watery.

Delicious food and great value! We had the octopus salad, oysters ,seafood risotto, pasta and mussels– all fresh and full of flavor. A nice surprise was the complimentary fish paste with bread, which is not very common in Croatia while you waiting for your food! Friendly service, low prices, and high quality. Highly recommend – best to book a table in advance!

This was my absolute favorite restaurant from a two week trip through Croatia. It was off the beaten path, and although still touristy overcame the plague of burgers and pizzas that plague the menus of most of the restaurants the tourist have access to . Lots of local families were eating here which is a great sign, and there were lots of celebrations going on meaning that it was good enough quality for the locals to enjoy it for special occasions. The food was wholesome and good with fresh ingredients and I’m sure the entire menu is delicious - except perhaps the local desert “pasta cake” which the young waitress tactfully described as something that “somebody might enjoy”.

Recommended by our guide who now knows my preferences. After 8 days of meat and some fish, we decided to have mussels which this place is famous for. We also had black ink squid risotto which seems to be the most popular dish, oyster soup, grilled squid and prawns. Very friendly staff.

I went here with a group of 14, and our waitress seemed a little miffed and frazzled by such a large group. She ultimately did a good job, but didn’t look too happy when we arrived. The food was very good, though! I started off with fried oysters, and we had others in the group who ordered raw oysters. They were small, but delicious! My shrimp skewers with risotto was cooked perfectly. Overall, a wonderful meal!

Kaštio Fort, also known as Tvrdava Kastio, is a well-preserved fortress located on the edge of the old town. Visitors can explore its interior and enjoy spectacular views of the nearby salt pans and the wall of Ston opposite. The fort has been recently reopened and is still undergoing restoration, offering a glimpse into its original grandeur. The pristine rock work, especially on the exterior, adds to its charm.
Nice place to start your trip in Ston, I recommend to visit it and have a view on sea salt industry before you head to Small Ston trough city walls. Adult tickets with Dubrovnik pass For 8 euro, without for 10 €, you can use them both - for wall and castle
Wielkopolanin — Google review
Ston is a lovely place to visit to see the small town and the city wall . Car parking was 3 euro per hour , and not very busy
Christine S — Google review
Very well-intact, preserved structure with beautiful views of the town, bay, mountain and its protective walls. Walking those steep walls requires about ten minutes of effort to get to the top, but the trip is worthwhile. Bonus: that ticket includes access to the fort. Ensure you make the trip around to the other side of the mountain to experience a private oyster tasting picnic (oppositethe side of the bay from Mali Ston)!
Thomas S — Google review
Tickets for it are part of walls ticket. There is nothing inside the forth - just closed walls. But effort which Ston city puts into historical constructions should be appreciated. Comparing to my visit 8 years ago - now I see difference - they really put efforts to make people enjoy they visit.
Kamil N — Google review
Beautiful place found this place by chance by taking a wrong turn. We're planning on visiting Croatia again next year just to go back to see the Fort again
Patrick L — Google review
Great historic site to visit. For €10 you can visit both the castle and the wall.

We went to Ston today for the second time to see the museum, the town, and so on, and to have lunch. It would be a great stopover for many motorhome travelers on the way to the south, bringing revenue to the town. Unfortunately, once again we couldn’t find a parking spot. There are plenty of bus parking spaces, which are always about 80% empty, but not a single parking space for motorhomes. Parking on the bus spaces is forbidden for motorhomes unless you pay €10 per hour. The car parking spaces are either full or too tight for motorhomes. Maybe we’ll give it a third try, but most likely next time we’ll just drive past on the main road. It seems they don’t need the money from camper travelers here. Well, then we’ll just spend our money elsewhere – thanks to the municipality of Ston!

SOLANA STON Ltd. has been a site for salt harvesting since Roman times, with its salt pans operating in much the same way for over 700 years. Visitors can experience a journey back to the 14th century to witness how salt was extracted from the water and loaded onto small railroad carts, gaining insight into the purpose of the surrounding walls. The tour includes a video presentation before exploring the area.
Amazing place where we bought arguably the best salt in Europe, since it is harvested in the old way, with no added substances to it. We did not pay anything and watched a short video for free. The person is charge was super knowledgeable and friendly, he explained well the history and process.
Gabriela D — Google review
Truly amazing place. You can walk around and see a video to fully understand all aspects of what they do and have been doing there for centuries.
Paula R — Google review
The storekeeper was friendly and helpful. The museum was basically only a 10 minute video. The place is certainly good when a salt collection is in operation.
Jouko N — Google review
Very friendly and helpful manager at the front. I was passing through Ston and found this to be a really interesting diversion. They have a short 10-minute informational presentation, and apparently this was the first saltworks in Europe and one of the earliest in the world! Entry was 5 euro, I bought some small sacks of salt which were 5 euro each.
Wilson — Google review
Lovely visit. Very kind owner/manager. There is a video you can watch which I found very informative
Amanda T — Google review
Really interesting place that still processes seal salt in the original way. The person working was SO friendly, and helped us pick which version of salt to choose. He also showed us a video that explains more about the process. Great souvenirs as everyone can use great salt!

Nice little sightseeing, you can do for a day. S ticket for a wall is a little pricey, bu on the other hand, they invest in reconstruction.

Winery
Winery "Mili" Family Rozic is a charming family-owned winery located in the Peljesac peninsula. Visitors have described it as a hidden gem, with an intimate and personalized tasting experience. The owner warmly welcomes guests and shares insights into the wines and the region's history. Many have praised the quality of the wines, particularly highlighting their Plavac Mili 2016 and 2017 vintages as exceptional finds at great prices.
Wines are a bargen. I tasted maybe 20 or more wines so far on my trip to Pelješac and their Plavac Mili 2016, and 2017 are top wines! Easily could be 50€ but the price is 20€! For those of you who are winelovers I am WSET L2 and WSET L3 certified. 😉🍷😊

Fantastic wine at such a great price! It was an intimate experience with the owner unlike anything previously experienced in larger wine regions of Europe or the United States. He provided background on each wine as well as the history of the region that was much appreciated. Highly recommend to anyone looking to step away from the busy tourist cities and jump into a smaller local town.

Restaurant
Đardin Restaurant offers a pleasant dining experience with delicious food and friendly staff. The tuna steak is highly recommended, while the tuna salad may be hit or miss. The fried small fish and pizza are also noteworthy dishes. Additionally, the carbonara, Greek salad with amazing feta, and seafood options like mussels and shrimp soup are worth trying. The restaurant's local cuisine includes fresh seafood such as seashells and fish soup, along with Dardin risotto and Croatian wines.
We had a wonderful dinner at Dardin at Ston. Our waiter Mateo was a very polite and friendly young man and looked well after us and our children during dinner. Not all food choices were a winner to be honest. But you got to try things to find out what you like and what you don't. The fried small fish wasn't a hitter unfortunately. The set up in the restaurant is very good and we could sit at the table near TV so children could be entertained by their favourite YouTube shows.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Restaurant Dardin in Ston. The food was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared — you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Every dish we tried was delicious, and it’s clear the kitchen puts real care into everything they serve. What made our visit truly special, though, was the service. Our waiter, Matteo, was outstanding — exceptionally kind, friendly, and attentive from the moment we sat down. He made us feel genuinely welcome and went out of his way to ensure everything was perfect. It’s rare to come across such warm and professional service. If you’re visiting Ston and looking for a fantastic meal in a relaxed and charming setting, Dardin is a must. Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be back!

We had an absolutely fantastic meal at Dardin Restaurant. If you're looking for the freshest, most expertly prepared seafood in Ston, this is the place. The local oysters were unbelievable—truly the salty taste of the Adriatic Sea. For our main course, we had pasta seafood dishes and a caramel desert, and everything was perfectly cooked. The service was prompt and very friendly. The desert was on the house which really topped off the experience. A definite must-visit for anyone craving authentic, high-quality Dalmatian seafood! Highly recommended!

We order beaf steak and tuna fillet , seems that potatoes and salad not included to the main dish price . Tuna fillet steak was delicious
Evelina V — Google review
Delicious lunch stop with very reasonable prices! I had the cuttlefish black risotto — my first time trying cuttlefish and it was delicious, risotto was well done.
Ginette H — Google review
There's no question it's the best restaurant in Ston. The food was first class; beautifully presented and such good prices. Our Waiter Mateo, not only spoke excellent English, but holds an excellent knowledge of the seafood and local area. His attention to detail was matched by his excellent table service. We eat at a lot of restaurants, and as a former hospitality employee, I recognise an exceptional restaurant. Well done to Matteo and all the staff at Dardin, you made our lunch the best in Croatia. A tip, you must try the Male Ston Oysters: utterly delicious and cheaper at Dardin the other nearby restaurants. We are looking forward to a return visit.

We had a lovely meal at Dardin. The food was very good, we had grilled scampi, grilled shrimp, tuna steak and pizza. All very tasty! The desserts are also excellent, the cheesecake and xhoxolate cake in particular were fabulous. Special thankyou to the waiter Matteo who was very welcoming and helpful, he patiently answered A LOT of questions from us! He made it a very enjoyable meal for us.

Barba Ston is a lovely place located on the edge of town, offering a quiet and serene dining experience under overhanging trees. The terrace provides a great view and a perfect spot to enjoy fresh local seafood. The menu features an interesting variety of dishes, including the well-known octopus burger and a range of patty options such as prawns and tuna. The service is excellent with friendly and prompt waiters who are enthusiastic about the menu.
Wow want a find. A really cared for restaurant run with true care and attention to every detail. Excellent food too! We went twice in save visit. Once before the gruelling climb up the walls and once after our descent! Enjoy

Amaizing octopussy and shrimp burgers. Tuna steak burger was perfect. And they are served in buns made of flour and squid ink, with unique cutted potato fries, delicious. Please try, three way oyster plate and tempura prawns, also great 😋

Barba Ston in Ston was a great place to stop for lunch in Ston. The oyster platter was very fresh and flavorful, and both the squid burger and squid ink risotto were surprisingly great—really unique and delicious. We also tried some local wines, which paired well with the seafood. It’s definitely a bit overpriced for the area, but the service was friendly and the quality made it feel worth it. It’s a great place to sit back and enjoy the view. There is a large outdoor patio area and a small indoor sitting area. Accepts cards and cash

Wow is an understatement for how delicious and fresh Barba Ston is. The owner, Mijo, was very gracious and welcoming. A must while you’re in Ston.

We didn’t even make it past the door, so I can’t speak to the food. What I can comment on is the unacceptable treatment we received from the staff. Our adult children went in a few minutes ahead of us to check if a table was available for our party of nine. While waiting, one of my children needed to use the restroom. While my 20-year-old daughter was inside, a staff member tried to force the door open. He then physically removed my 13-year-old from the restaurant. When I arrived shortly after to explain our brief delay, the same staff member yelled at me, saying this was “not a place to use the toilet but to eat.” I clarified that we were there to dine, but he continued to be rude and made both children feel unsafe. This was a disturbing and unprofessional experience that left us feeling completely unwelcome. We left and chose another nearby restaurant instead (natura ston) and the contrast could not have been greater. The staff there were warm, respectful, and made our dining experience truly enjoyable.

Konoba Baća is a family-friendly restaurant with great service and delicious food. The mussels and oyster flower are highly recommended, while the French fries with truffle sauce and grana padano are a must-try. It's not a tourist trap and offers reasonably priced meals. The restaurant serves the freshest local oysters, fresh tuna fillet, slow-aged beef, as well as excellent meat and vegetarian options.
Great food and atmosphere. Had a delicious truffle burger and NA beer. You know it's good when the locals are eating there. The server was attentive and spoke English. The atmosphere watching the little square was wonderful. Ston is totally worth a short stop, and if you're hungry, I highly recommend Konoba Baća!

Excellent food and excellent service. We tried their burgers, oysters, fresh salad and dessert. Kids loved the food and so did we. Good sized portions. Nice historical location with views of the town and its fortifications. We plan to visit again during the week.

Friendly and professional service is a rare find these days but this place delivers. Food is what I would call reliable and deffinitely not a tourist trap. Proven recipes with local ingredients. I got a recommendation to try chevap :) and actual potatoes cut as pommes frites was a pleasant surprise. Meat was of high quality, but now I regret not having some seafood dish. At first opportunity, I will. (Octopus salad I tasted wasn't enough to create any opinion) Not to forget, home made bread (!) and reasonable prices in comparison. Looking forward to dine here again.

Seosko domaćinstvo Ficović in Ston is a remarkable seafood restaurant known for its unparalleled freshness and quality of seafood. What makes it unique is that they cultivate their own shells in their sea farm, ensuring top-notch taste and quality. The restaurant offers a breathtaking view, making it an ideal spot to enjoy a fantastic meal amidst beautiful surroundings. It's also family-friendly, with nearby beach activities for kids. Situated by the sea, the location provides a stunning view at sunset.
I had an unforgettable amazing experience at Ficovic restaurant in Hodilje this summer. The food was undeniably the best I’ve ever had from fresh fish cooked traditionally home style to the best oysters in the world prepared 3 different ways. The service was exceptional and friendly. The Ficovic family deserves all the success that they have worked for over generations of discipline and love. The atmosphere is stunning and one of a kind. It felt like home and that was the way we were treated while spending our evening at their establishment. My recommendation to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

Absolutely amazing food. Lovely setting. I ventured beyond the fish was greatly surprised; the steak is perfect! Very, very tasty and well served. The Ston cake is a must-try if you’re in the area (it’s sweet although it is made of pasta with nuts; very different than anything else but well worth trying). The experience would’ve been much better if the smokers were contained in a separate area.

Beach
Beach Prapratno, located near Ston in Croatia, is a hidden gem known for its crystal-clear waters and soft, clean sand. Visitors can enjoy swimming and relaxing by the sea at this beautiful sandy beach. While parking can be a bit challenging, nearby camping sites offer parking for a fee. The beach features shallow waters with stunning colors and amenities such as showers and toilets. A supermarket is conveniently located just a minute away on foot.
Great beach, crystal clear water! There is the regular sandy beech but also there are plenty for rocks you can sunbath on both sides of the water. Parking is €10 for the day. Showers don’t work.

Beautiful view to Mljet Island, amazing underwater world, nice sandy beach. Parking is 10 EUR per day, all recommendations for small household with local products.
Dragana D — Google review
Compared to almost all other rock beaches in the country, this sand beach is like a walking on a pillow. The view is amazing, the sea clear despite the sand, the beach area is a bit crowded but since it's high tourist season that is expected. An overall 8/10 experience
Ficus — Google review
When we arrived, we parked on the roadside, but a man from the parking area told us it’s not allowed, as others would start doing the same. Official parking is €10/day, a fair mid-range price. The beach itself is beautiful, with stunning views and clear water, but the sea was full of thousands of tiny flies, which really spoiled the swimming experience. It gets quite crowded, and unfortunately, not everyone is tidy, some people leave trash behind. Worth visiting for the scenery, but overall the experience was mixed.
Kajus — Google review
Pros: Sandy beach, clear water, close to the main road, but quiet from traffic, the view is great. Cons: Crowded, very few parking places, we barely found 1. The water is really cold beginning of September and after 5 the beach gets shaded since it's located between 2 hills.

READ BEFORE YOU GO Some locals are ilegally charging tourists for parking. DO NOT PAY. The parking lot is on a private property and owners do not charge for parking, only greedy locals. They do it without receipt. DO NOT PAY. THE BEACH IS AWESOME.

A spontaneous stop turned holiday highlight! On a whim, guided by really good Google Maps reviews, we decided to drop in on Winery Marlais. We threw caution to the wind and arrived with no reservation, a move that could have ended in tragedy (or at least, thirst). But fear not! The legendary owner, Ante, greeted us with open arms and masterfully squeezed us into an ongoing tour. We immediately felt like we'd won the lottery. We were treated to a fascinating journey through the winery's impressive history and got a peek behind the curtain at the magic of winemaking. But let's be honest, we were all eagerly awaiting the main event: the tasting. And what an event it was! It was easily one of the best tasting experiences I've ever had. I had the pleasure of sampling their signature red, Skrapa, across three vintages: 2016, 2015, and 2013. Each one was a showstopper, hands down some of the best red wine I've ever tasted. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, the next vintage would prove me wrong. It was a delicious rollercoaster of excellence. This visit was a true highlight of our vacation and an unforgettable experience for our whole group across three generations. A massive thank you to Ante and the entire team for their incredible hospitality – and a special shout-out to the wonderfully friendly chap from Brisbane whose name we unfortunately didn't catch. You guys are rockstars!

Like many of the reviews we showed up without knowing to make a reservation. The owners mother happened to be walking outside and pointed us in the right direction. The owner was finishing up a tour for another group and was incredibly gracious and welcoming despite our poor planning. He told us all about the family history, explained all of the Croatian wines (which were delicious), gave us olive oil and cheese to try with our tastings, and then walked us around the cellar. We bought a couple of things to bring home and he referred us to the one importer in the US who sells a small selection of his wines.

We stayed at this winery and apartment for almost a week with a group of 8, and it was an unforgettable experience! Ante, the owner, along with his family and all the staff, were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay, making us feel truly welcome. One of the highlights was the wine tour – we got to see the entire process of how their wine is made and hear the fascinating story behind the family and the winery. The wine tasting was also a fantastic experience, and we enjoyed every moment of it. Everything about our stay was very, very, very good, and we couldn’t be happier with our choice. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic and warm experience with amazing wine!

Their wines are highly regarded locally and have gained popularity in the American market. The winery offers tours where visitors can learn about their winemaking process and sample their impressive selection of wines, including organic options. In addition to wine, they also produce EU certified organic olive oil.
We had a wonderful tour and wine tasting here. The staff (especially Ivan who looked after us) were really friendly, explained the wines and olive oil really well and the cheeses were nice too. Definitely recommend!

Really good strong wines. Several options for tasting and the location and facilities are amazing. Really nice view to spend some time and do the wine tasting

Very cool winery and the tour is included with all tastings. The building was very cool, the staff were very knowledgeable, and wine was delicious!

My private guide took me here for a private wine tasting and I tried the premium tasting which consisted of 5 different wines in various grape varieties and vintages. I paid an additional €8 to add on one sweet wine of theirs as well. The olive oil tasting was included as well. The winenary building is modern, minimalist and air conditioned. The gentleman who did the tasting was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. I went at my own pace and still water & rice crackers provided during the tasting session. Merchandises can be purchased from this place at the end of the tasting and I took home a bottle of red and a small bottle of their olive oil.

Absolutely beautiful winery, much more modern than the others nearby but also, much more expensive. Still, we had an enjoyable experience on their peaceful patio and particularly enjoyed their rose.

Really lovely place and wonderful wine tasting experience. A brand new place done with good taste. This family owned place is worth visiting, big recommendation. And yes, wine is also excellent. We bought two bottles to take home.

Nestled on a cliff with breathtaking views of Prapratno Bay, Restoran BELLA VISTA is a delightful spot for those seeking a memorable dining experience. While the culinary offerings may not be extravagant, the stunning scenery makes it worth the visit. Guests can enjoy a simple yet satisfying menu featuring daily specials like fresh mussels and grilled calamari. The friendly service adds to the charm, making it an ideal place for lunch or dinner after exploring the area.
We went back twice. Granted, it was close to where we were staying, but the view and the friendly service almost make the food beside the point, not to say it wasn’t good. It’s a relatively simple menu with daily specials. We enjoyed the mussels and the grilled calamari.

The food here is OK and reasonably priced, overall nothing special, except for of course (what's in a name) the amazing view over the little bay down below (see pic). Don't come here expecting a brilliant culinary experience but come here to enjoy a nice lunch / dinner with an amazing view.

Gorgeous view, but slow service. Beware of the "Dalmatian ribs" on the English menu. It's a wrong translation, which they admitted after the fact. It was just a flat peace of meat.

The food at Bella Vista is great. Some of the best food I've had in Croatia yet. Definitely try the seafood platter! It's delicious.
