A fantastic place to go hiking and have contact with nature, it has incredible natural formations! It's also an amazing place to explore with your family.
Paola M — Google review
A hidden gem in the Swiss Alps, Gletschergarten Cavaglia offers a serene and breathtaking natural experience. Easily accessible via the Bernina Railway, it's a short walk from the train station, making it an ideal stop for nature lovers and hikers. The glacier-carved formations and impressive ‘Gletschertöpfe’ are the standout attractions, beautifully displayed for visitors to admire. The scenic valley, flowing stream, and well-indicated paths create a pleasant atmosphere, especially during the off-season, when crowds are minimal. While some guides and additional amenities may be available during peak season, this visit was quiet and self-guided. There is also an adjacent gorge worth exploring, if time allows. One minor consideration is for dog owners—some sections feature metal mesh stairs, which could be challenging for certain pets. Despite that, this spot is highly recommended for a peaceful outdoor experience with stunning geological features.
Patrick S — Google review
Not a place for winter. I read before going that it is still possible to visit the place during winter months on your own at your risk. However, in winter there’s nothing to do here. There’s no trail to hike. We saw only some stones. Do not come here in winter. Do not waste your time
Алена П — Google review
Beautiful geological features where you can see the strength of nature and especially of one glacier and its water. The massive rocks where transported by the ice and the 'marmitas' carved by the water....absolutely incredible. The view on the Poschiavo lake and valley is also magnificent.
JC G — Google review
A unique hiking trail running through an area filled with Marmittas, deep tubes carved into the rock by glacier melt ages ago. The view of the valley from several overlooks is also quite spectacular. An interesting, sometimes exciting, ride is needed to get here unless you take the train.
Jim P — Google review
Nice geological curiosity and outstanding point of view on the Valle Poschiavo in this well tended garden. The garden itself is not worth the trip to this remote location, but the Piz Palü offers many spectacular views. So, if you happen to go there, don't miss the garden.
Fabien A — Google review
An impressiv place where you see how the forces of the glacier worked on the mountains thousand of years ago. The entrance is free and close to the train stop Cavaglia. The wholes are well secured with fences so no issues for kids or other people falling into them;)
Roger S — Google review
Small but interesting. you can even climb down into one of the glacier mills. great viewpoint with telescope looking down into the Poschiavo valley. will expand in the future, I think. run by volunteers. has a small kiosk onsite.

Restaurant
Ristorante Motrice is a multifunctional establishment, serving as a restaurant, cafe, and bar. It's an ideal spot for meeting up with friends over coffee or wine while savoring various culinary delights meticulously prepared by the passionate cook Ornella. Over its century-long history, it has been a beloved haunt for many artists and notable figures. The restaurant is currently in its fourth generation of family ownership under the Isepponi family.
Lovely place. We had a vegetable soup and pizzocchieri here, both tasted amazing. Pizzocchieri portion is really big. A lot of vegetarian options. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Lovely restaurant close to the parking lot in Poschiavo. Loved the pasta and the salad! The view is also great if you choose outside seating.
Rashid F — Google review
I highly recommend this restaurant, they serve traditional "pearls" and regional dishes from Puschlav and Veltlin. Very nice service, I did not expect such great courtesy and flexibility from the restaurant manager - although the place was closed until the evening we were welcomed at 3 pm and served a wonderful dish "Manfriguli". Thank you very much

This restaurant really deserves 5 stars. Pleasant ambiance, sympathetic waitresses, service on time, good quality meal (try venison if it is the right season, or traditional local food), very affordable and low prices. Warmly recommanded.

Delicious dinner, special thanks to Jessica for making us feel extremely welcome. Tried the pasta and it did not disappoint, came out quick and was fresh and tasty. Would definitely recommend their Chianti, a great wine for a good price. The charm of Poschiavo is well captured by this quaint restaurant. Would definitely return when I am in Poschiavo next.

Lake
Lagh da Saoseo is a hidden gem in Switzerland, located in the Val da Camp and listed as a national cultural monument. It's a picturesque mountain lake that can be reached by taking a circular walk from Sfazu or by bus into the valley. The hike to the lake offers stunning views and is suitable for families with young children. The area around the lake features three beautiful lakes with clear water, offering a refreshing experience.
One of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the area. 1,5 hours approximately from Sfazù. Can be combined in very nice day trips

Very beautiful view. Hiking up there won't take long. I went there with my family and 7 year olds canhike up there aswell. The lakes are beautiful. And when you're already upthere you might take the long walk and walk all around the three lakes. With clear water. It'c kind of chilly up there so bring a jaket up there. I can only recommend the hike.

(Translated by Google) This is one of my favorite lakes! Beautiful in any season. There is car parking in Sfazù and it is paid. From there on foot following the road it takes approx. 1.30 to reach the lake...or there is a more naturalistic path but it takes 15/30 minutes more. During the summer there is a shuttle bus service that takes you to the Lungaqua refuge or to Camp. From the respective refuges there is a well-marked path to reach the lake in less than half an hour. From the car park you can also reach the refuges by bicycle without problems... In the two refuges when they are open there is the possibility of sleeping, eating and drinking something. A beautiful walk to admire the clear and crystalline waters of this lake! (Original) Questo è uno dei laghi che preferisco! Bello in qualunque stagione.

Bernina Pass is a stunning mountain pass in the Bernina Range that provides a route for both cars and trains between Switzerland and Italy. Travelers can experience breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers while passing through St. Moritz and Pontresina on the northern side, or enjoy the lush green landscapes of Valtellina on the southern side.
Here are some recommended trails around the Bernina Pass area offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, glaciers, and alpine lakes: 1. Bernina Pass to Alp Grüm - Starting Point: Bernina Pass (Ospizio Bernina) - Distance: 6 km one way - Duration: 2 to 2.5 hours - Difficulty: Moderate This trail takes you from the Bernina Pass down to Alp Grüm, offering magnificent views of the Palü Glacier and the surrounding peaks. Alp Grüm is known for its beautiful setting and the historic railway station. 2. Lago Bianco Loop - Starting Point: Ospizio Bernina - Distance: 5 km round trip - Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours - Difficulty: Easy This loop trail around Lago Bianco provides stunning views of the lake, glaciers, and mountains. It's a relatively easy hike suitable for families and casual hikers. 3. One of the most amazing experience I've had is the Bernina Express going to Ospizia Bernina. Everybody in the train is amazed how beautiful and majestically looking this place. Worth visiting. Fun fact: you can go skinny dipping in the water (during the summer obviously), near down the ospizia Bernina station. The water is cold so better bring something to dry you off later.

Magical place in winter and spring when the mountains are pristine and the lakes frozen. Just mind boggling beautiful!
Gil A — Google review
Holy wow this was beautiful. Took the pass to get down to Italy and it was amazing. Just take your time driving and be cautious as there is people biking on the road and watch out for those beautiful cows on the side of the road.
Linda B — Google review
Memorable journey from Tirano, IT to St. Moritz. While in Italy, ride offers mostly lush green landscape and passing through the residential building. Switzerland in wintertime is like a white blanket. Train passes through 100s of small and large bridges and tunnels, frozen lake and spectacular view of glacier. St. Moritz offers stunning view of frozen lake and 10a of very expensive brand shopping area. Over all I would repeat it in summer time to witness different beauty of Switzerland

A great ride by train or car. It's open the whole year but needs sometimes maintenance because of new snow. A great trip to get from the Engading to the Pushlav or vice versa. You can do some very scenic stops or even long hikes if you like. In the winter you get the chance to ski on Diavolezza and the other areas placed around the Bernina pass.

Diavolezza is a mountain peak that stands at nearly 10,000 feet high and offers cable car access as well as challenging ski trails. The cable car has its own station on the Bernina Line and transports passengers from 2093m to the summit. Visitors can enjoy hiking, with a glacier experience trail offering an up-close view of the glaciers.
Took the cable car, the scenery was breathtaking! It's summer, 16° yet still a little chilly as there's still some snow. It was a good experience.

Took the gondola up there, amazing view, well kept place even in off peak season Food also was delicious, although the hot chocolate was disappointingly a powder satchel
Mauricio M — Google review
Low effort high reward (and price)! The views at the top are spectacular and there are some nice short 2-3 mile) walks. They start on opposite sides of the cable car station and both go up. If you’re fit these are worth doing but boots should be worn. The trails are extremely rocky.

Diavolezza, Switzerland, just 20 km from St. Moritz, is a stunning alpine escape with breathtaking views of glaciers and snow-capped peaks. A paradise for skiers and hikers, it offers both thrilling adventures and serene mountain beauty. The cable car ride itself is worth the trip—like gliding straight into a postcard.
AJay S — Google review
I came to the peak in October. Many of the cable cars have stopped working in the last week of October. This cable car takes us up to the peak, where we can see beautiful peak barnina and can watch graciers below the terrace.

Above sea level, people come here to get different experience for ski. We took Bernina express scenic train and took cable car to top. Had Swiss lunch
Hazel — Google review
Good place to visit and go for hikes. The glacier experience trail for 2 hours is a good experience to walk near to see the glaciers upclose. Went during early June, shoulder season before the peak period. The weather is still cool enough and still ice around. If you stay there is more for hikers as there is nothing else to do. Short of booking a hot tub which is interesting to do.
Ju K — Google review
Dissaster place - a lot of random people who make a lot of noise and there is very rude service in restaurat - despite you order coffee/tea you are not able to eat even your own snack or sandwich - they count and want only people who came by cable car and order big meal with big tips. Better avoid this place!

We were at this restaurant a while ago, but the memory of that family lunch stayed. The food was absolutely delicious and refined — from the soup to the main course to the dessert, everything was perfectly done. They use ingredients from local producers and farmers, which you can really taste. We loved how the hosts described each dish at the table — it added a layer of storytelling that made the whole experience feel even more authentic, rich in flavours, and culture. There’s also a beautiful wine cellar.

From Australia- We drove from Bellagio to Poschiavo today to explore my family’s beautiful home town. We stopped in for lunch at Hostaria del Borgo. The food was incredible and so was the service. Our day got even better when our waitress and the Restaurant owner went out of their way to help us connect with our extended family that we have never met. The hotel manger organised for a relative to come and meet us at the Restaurant. We couldn’t have wished for a more amazing experience during our visit to Poschiavo while we explored our families heritage. A big thank-you to the staff for providing us with a day we will never forget. If you’re ever visiting Poschiavo make sure you visit Hostaria del Borgo!

Albergo Ristorante Grotto Miralago is a charming and exotic hotel located on the shores of Miralago lake. The low-key rooms and suites offer a relaxed atmosphere, while the country cottage-style house with an adjacent garden provides a cozy setting for dining with lovely lake views. The restaurant serves very good food prepared with subtlety, offering an extensive menu including local cuisine.
A lovely, picturesque place overlooking the marvellous lake. Even though the hotel is located virtually at the train station (hence easily accessible), it's a quiet place. The staff were super friendly, the breakfast varied enough. As for the room, it was supposed to be rustic and stylish - and indeed it was (including a tad creaky bed). One can only complain about the prices - but it's a common thing all over Switzerland...

Ristorante Pizzeria Albrici is a delightful gem nestled in the charming town of Poschiavo, perfect for travelers seeking authentic Italian cuisine. The talented pizzaiolo Tindaro Gaglio crafts mouthwatering pizzas in a traditional wood-burning oven, ensuring each pie is cooked to perfection. Among the standout offerings are the Pizza Prosciutto e Fungi and Pizza Diavola, both made with high-quality ingredients that elevate them to world-class status.
This restaurant was truly wonderful. I'm solo backpacking around northern Italy, and travelled on the Bernina train to St Moritz. Staying in Poschiavo for one night, en route to Lecco tomorrow. Being Sunday, most of the restaurants were closed. They were booked up, but after going away and later returning (to ask if I could possibly have a take way pizza!) they very kindly found me a table. I've eaten solo for many years (working overseas in 5* hotels). But with age, and having been unwell, I feel more anxious/ less confident now. But the waiters were all so kind. The food was AMAZING as well. The meat cooked beautifully, and the red wine perfectly smooth. I've taken this trip to make happy, peaceful memories. This beautiful restaurant, it's kindness, excellent food, and lovely atmosphere, created a perfect end to the day. A happy memory :) Thank you

Busy place on Sunday afternoon when barely anything is open in Poschiavo. We managed to get a table right away despite some rude tourists. The Golosa pizza was phenomenal! Nice crust and the toppings were the perfect combo. My parents got the bolognese with different pasta shapes, which was also really tasty. I had an orange soda while they got beers. A little slow to get the servers attention for the check.

Right in the city center square, the restaurant offers great food and great atmosphere. The staff is friendly and very fast. The water was a bit expensive for our taste (8CHF for 0.77 bottle) but all in all for the experience of dinning here it is worth it.

One of the best things to do, not just in Poschiavo, but also in the entire Poschiavino valley region. We did the 'Guided Tour' of the Hotel plus the Pizzocheri lunch for 25CHF each. The tour of the Hotel was done in English by a local staff member. She was clear, articulate, friendly, patient and also proud of the beautiful hotel and it's rich history. The Hotel's history is linked to many major events in the region's history. We were then offered delicious Pizzocheri and local red wine in the restaurant, which was the erstwhile entrance of the 350 year old building and about 175 year old restaurant. The restaurant is at the town's square- very close to Casa Console.

Great neapolitan pizza, exceptional place. Pizza Prosciutto e Fungi is delicious, high quality ingredients which make this one of the best in the world. Pizza Diavola have spicy salami, not just few slices. It is prepared like all pizzas should! Pizza bread is just the best! With great classic beer this was a wonderful dinner. What is more all of that cost as not that much 15 CHF for one pizza (for Swizz prices it's great deal!)
