Menai Bridge in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Menai Bridge, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Menai Bridge is known for its iconic 19th-century suspension bridge by Thomas Telford, offering striking views over the Menai Strait and towards Snowdonia. The town makes a good base for exploring Anglesey, with easy access to coastal walks, beaches, and nearby heritage sites like Beaumaris Castle. Visitors can enjoy boat trips on the strait, spotting wildlife and learning about local maritime history. A small but lively center of cafes, pubs, and independent shops adds to its appeal as a relaxed short-break destination.
With favorites like Y Marram, Menai Suspension Bridge, and Zip World Penrhyn Quarry, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Scoops Artisan Ice Cream & Dutch Pancakes and Heritage Coffee Shop so you can get the best taste of Menai Bridge while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Caernarfon Castle, a World Heritage fortress located by the river, has a rich history dating back to the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. The castle was built by Hugh d'Avranches, Earl of Chester, and played a significant role in Welsh history. Today, visitors can explore the castle's museum which showcases the history of Wales' oldest infantry regiment spanning over 300 years.
Visited today with family and had a fantastic time! Having visited a number of castles over the years, I was really impressed with how well kept the entire castle was without losing it's history. It is an immense place to explore with loads of intact towers and ramparts to explore and get unbelievable views over the town. The entry fee is very reasonable and they offer a range of discounts including free carer tickets and blue light discount. Inside the ground is uneven which is to be expected but efforts have been made to create ramps where possible to make it slightly wheelchair accessible. Inside the grounds you will also find a cafe and toilets. I do want to make a special mention of the Changing Places disabled toilet. The fact that there is a place that you can take any disabled person and easily change them is amazing and deserves a special mention. The fact that you have a full size adult changing bed with hoist is a fantastic facility to have. The castle doesn't have dedicated parking however there is a pay and display car park right next to the castle so it might as well be considered dedicated parking.

For a short break between train journeys, we arrived on the Welsh Highland Railway and visited the castle. It was our first visit and we enjoyed our time walking around. Our grandson managed the narrow steps up and down the towers. We had about an hour and it was enough time to walk around most of the site. It was a five minute walk from the station. The towers have narrow steps which might prove a challenge and the ropes help. The views from the top of the castle were amazing, across the harbour and out to sea, and towards Snowdonia. A great place to bring children and the lift to view the castle is a bonus.
Anthony H — Google review
A wonderful experience and worth the money. Absolutely stunning castle with great areas with information. Museum was wonderful to walk around. Areas have been adapted for accessibility. Lots of narrow spiral staircases but lit well and all have ropes or supports.
Chelsea B — Google review
Loved it. Lots of history here. This castle is well preserved and authentic looking. This alone makes it 5 stars. Castle fans will have fun here. But! This means danger as well. The spiral staircase can be dangerous to say the least. Especially in the down pour that we were in. Many of the steps are only a couple inches wide, barely enough for a toe or heel. You're given a rope (soaking wet in our case) to hang into as you climb up or down. If you explore more, you'll find you can get to to the walls with regular stairs. And if you think even those are too difficult, there is an elevator. Ask the staff to direct you to it. The museum is interesting, but has very little to do with the castle itself, more about war in general. There are recorded voice guides you can listen to if you pay the £3 price for the device. I'm not sure why this has a cost when the same device at castell coch was free.
Trevor — Google review
Visited Caernarfon Castle using English Heritage membership and got half price tickets since we were still in our first year of membership. If your membership is renewed after the first year, you can visit this site for free, which is a good deal for regular travellers. The castle itself is very beautiful, with lots of climbing as there are several towers to explore. The stairs can be a bit much, but the amazing scenery from the top of the tower makes it totally worth the effort. Had a great time exploring the history and enjoying the fantastic views all around.
Vipin N — Google review
Spent 2hrs with a toddler and baby going up and down towers, running around the walls. Toddler had a fantastic time, with close supervision at all times (large drops off walls, very steep steps, etc). Baby needed to be in a carrier as pushchair is obviously not going up into the towers. There is a raised area (above the great hall) which has got lift access, which offers lovely views and gives you the same sort of experience as climbing the towers, so don't feel out of it you have limited mobility. Great baby change and disabled changing facilities - very clean.
Terry J — Google review
Fabulous place, wear good comfortable shoes there are lots of steps which are obviously, old, worn, wet, steep, narrow etc but worth the climb up the towers, museum in one part, lovely new sculptures dotted about the place. Little outdoor cafe area for drinks, sandwiches and cakes which is very reasonably priced, 2 coffees and 2 cakes for £10. We were there over 2 hours but could have spent more time, if you only want to go up a couple of towers do 2 at opposite ends to get different views and perspectives. Little shop sells lovely locally handmade items as well as usual Cadw/English Heritage pencils etc. Well worth a visit and Caernarfon town looking good too, especially the area within the castle walls. Car park is in the shadow of the castle, see pictures for price, public toilets in car park as well
Jane L — Google review
What an absolutely amazing castle. So much to see and do within the castle, from views to interactive experiences. Be prepared for a lot of steps, but well worth it. So many amazing views, from lots of different view points. Lovely cafe within the castle, great for refreshments, especially after all the steps. Very clean toilets in the castle too. The Royal Welsh Fusilier Regimental Museum is a must to visit while at the castle, all included in your castle admission fee. So much history about the Regiment, lovely to see and learn about it all. The castle even has modern features, like an access elevator at the Kings Gate. Could of easily spent a few days seeing everything the castle has to offer, but managed to get the majority in while there. The gift shop is a must in the Regimental Museum and the larger gift shop in the castle. Overall, fantastic value for money.

The Anglesey Arms is a lovely pub in Caernarfon. You honestly can’t beat the location—right next to the castle with stunning views over the water. It’s the perfect spot to relax after exploring the town. It is lively but welcoming, with a great mix of locals and visitors. The staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. Whether you're stopping by for a drink or staying for a meal, you’ll leave smiling. Highly recommend!

Food was amazing and the view breath taking. We wanted to visit the castle but stopped first at this lovely pub for food and we loved it. We will most definitely be back again. I totally recommend it.
Ana T — Google review
The food was excellent; fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from start to finish. The views were stunning, adding to the relaxed atmosphere. The beer was cold, crisp, and refreshing. Overall, a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this place for great food, service, and scenery.

Great location and views over to Angelsey. Had dinner here and it was tasty . Service was good and the young men doing the waiter service and bar were really polite and efficient. The only thing was the toilets were poor. They smelt bad and needed cleaning. On the wall was a vending machine selling dodgy, love aid tablets. This looked terrible. Added to the seedy toilet. This was the men's toilet. Get rid of it. Employ a good cleaner. Being dog friendly is a pub bonus.

Absolutely stunning location. Behind you is the castle, and in front of you are the Menai Straits, on a sunny day it is simply perfect. Highly recommended for the views alone! A lovely spot to rest the legs after a days walking and exploring. We were greeted by Candace, who helped us decide what to order and the service was fantastic throughout our time at the pub. Candace also recommended things to do in the local area which made our time at the pub even more pleasant. The food was lovely, the drinks were refreshing and the service was excellent. All the best!
Hayden W — Google review
Great views around the bay, staff were very nice. But our food was barely acceptable. I had sirloin steak which was really quite bad. Almost tasteless, dried out and over cooked. The chicken and mushroom pie was unfortunately no better. Lots of pastry and almost no chicken. I can't recommend for food.
Eire J — Google review
First visit for a few years because it became shabby, service got very slow, tables didn't get wiped very often and the wait for food was so long I could have swam to Anglesey and back. Called in a couple of days ago with a friend who was staying with me from London and thought I had walked into a different place. The new owner has made it cleaner and nicer, he is far more welcoming than the last time we went. I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat but we will go back now we know it has changed. Great views across the sea, great sunsets and plenty of seating outside too. Definitely worth a visit now
Dee E — Google review
Location of the pub is great and the staff were very friendly. We ate lunch here today and unfortunately it was not very pleasant. The steak I had was overcooked and chewy. The pies were dry. The meals arrived at differing times and it seemed two orders were forgotten. When the pie finally came it was stone cold in the middle. Just a really disappointing meal.

Nature & Parks
Anglesey Sea Zoo is a captivating aquarium that showcases the diverse marine life of North Wales. Visitors can witness live diving displays and explore a shark pool while learning about conservation efforts. The venue features an array of sea creatures, from lobsters and wrasse to brine shrimp and flatfish, all set within meticulously recreated environments like quaysides and shipwrecks. Daily feedings of conger eels or sharks add to the immersive experience.
This was a great day out. Fun for kids on site with the zoo and also mini golf. It was nice to sit and listen to the staff's knowledge of the area and the wildlife.. preservation is key to the work that they do here. All of the marine life were amazing to see, especially I must say the baby skates. Great for families and adults. Easy to get to Food and gift shop on site.

It's not a massive place but is nice for a visit. It has disabled parking, but these aren't laid out wider bays, just 4 ordinary bays allocated as blue badge only. There is a disabled toilet outside the building, but not practical for wheelchair access due to the metal lip at the entrance. Inside it was very worn with rust on the metal rails. The animal tanks have seen better days and there were some with animals inside with no natural habitat, but the layout was pleasant and informative. There is a cobbled path that takes you around the exhibits, and it is manageable for a wheelchair user. Whilst 'accessible' for the most part, this is not by precise design and there are some ramps/inclines that are steep, and loose gravel in the car park, which makes it more difficult for wheelchair users. Saying that, the majority of the exhibits were accessible and easy to view from a wheelchair. There is a specific concession for carers, with free access on production of proof of being a carer. We produced our National Trust Carer Card and this was accepted. The entrance fee isn't bad, and was overall an enjoyable hour. A nice cafe and gift shop.

Small local sea life places beat the big ones anyday, love the quirky exhibits. Really enjoyed the lobsters and octopus, the play area was for smaller kids really and there was a bit of a long wait for food but otherwise a nice little day and great views. Would recommend.
Tim C — Google review
Not a bad little sea life centre with good viewing areas. But it was slightly over charged for the size! Would say it would be better for a younger family as there is a play area and mine golf outside that my older children wasn't interested in.
Martyn B — Google review
I first visited this place 30+ years ago, & wasn't disappointed this time either. Lovely exhibits of local marine life, knowledgeable staff and very helpful and friendly. I must give special thanks to Megan who worked in the gift shop/cafe. She was so patient, helpful and knowledgeable about the gifts, with a lovely, bubbly personality to match.
Violet D — Google review
Lovely little place! Fantastic job at helping sea creatures! Lovely staff, sweet cafe. Great for a short visit
Julia S — Google review
We visited on a rainy day and left slightly disappointed. While the Menai views outside the zoo are stunning, the actual building feels quite dated and relatively small. There are some interesting creatures and informative displays, but the whole place would benefit from some investment and serious TLC. The cleanliness of the aquariums and the overall quality of the displays leave much to be desired, and everything feels rather outdated. I wouldn’t visit again.
Magda K — Google review
You can't book tickets on line, we came over on a light rain/shower/overcast day, my daughter love sea animals. We rite by the coast and on narrow roads so be careful when driving here. When I arrived it was busy but not heavy. However I do find disorganised car park attendants. When we parked in the overflow, we arrived at the reception there was a big queue. We wait around 20 mins to get to the till. As soon as I saw the inside I thought it was gonna be tight. There was a good selection of different sea animals but the problem I found was very overcrowded, people crawling over each other rather than staying in one place felt like we did a quick walk round cos it can be too much especially for sensory people. Once we finished, we ended up in a shop, overcrowding again but managed to get through again with 5 mins wait until the till. Then I decided to go to the cafe for a drink, the wrong idea again. Wait another 20 mins for services. I'm glad I didn't order hot food because I dared to see how long I would have to wait. The playground is more for underage 8, the golf wasn't open. Overall it is a shame as it has a good view for seeing sea life but felt a bit old, hazard and lack of service and long wait. To be fair it feels like I waited longer than exploring the sea life world.

Trwyn Penmon Point is situated on the eastern tip of Anglesey, offering breathtaking views of Snowdonia's mountains and the Irish Sea. The area is a haven for seabirds and migrating birds, making it a picturesque and tranquil peninsula where visitors can witness nature at its best.
Wild, windy and blustery. Great place to visit, the nearby Pilot House Cafe is very welcoming, serving some decent pizzas and snacky foods. Very friendly and pleasant staff. Car parking is free although you have to pay £3.50 to enter the road at the old chapel site.

Absolutely love this rocky little beach. There's a toll to access that is basically your parking. The beach is rocky, so best take flip flops to walk around in. When the tide is out there's loads of rock pools, and when it's in then you can swim as the water gets deep quite quickly. There's a lovely little cafe there too that dies great ice cream and has a nice little seating area. We went on bank holiday and it wasn't packed at all. Great views and super relaxed
Richard B — Google review
A beautiful spot, and the cafe is fantastic. Delicious food and drinks, and friendly staff. The only minor drawback is the toll, which is charged no matter how long you stay. And the next morning, around 10 a.m., the man who collected the toll when we drove in knocks on the motorhome and collects another £12.50 for the toll and parking. That's a bit cheeky, considering we haven't even driven on the road yet. That was a rather expensive experience.
Siouxsie S — Google review
Some lovely features here like the light house and the rocky shore line, you can fish here but there's alot of rocks to snag your line on(I did loads) nice little cafe with a good variety of ice cream and drinks. There's a lighthouse just off shore.and some interesting rock formations on the beach, also puffin Island is very close by
M S — Google review
Acts as a toll road so is £3.50 to use it per day, payable before you go onto the road. Plenty of spots to park your van or car overnight. No rubbish left which was great to see.
Gugul K — Google review
Great place to sit and let time pass by, a little toll to get up the road, a really nice little cafe to have something to eat & drink, many places to go for a walk as well.
Adam L — Google review
Due to access being down a private road you have to pay but £1 for my motorbike was great value (£3.50 for a car) but theres no parking fee once at the point. On a sunny warm day like today the views are fantastic. There is a cafe there also.
Jonathon P — Google review
We stay at the old life boat house here. It's beautiful and restful. Plenty of wildlife and seabirds. I've seen grey seals and dolphins here. There is a £3.50 charge to come on but it is worth it just for the cafe alone.

Scoops Artisan Ice Cream & Dutch Pancakes is a family run ice cream parlour in the heart of Caernarfon, serving up homemade ice cream and Dutch pancakes with all sorts of different toppings. The food is savoury, sweet and vegetarian, and was recommended to us when we were next in Caernarfon - we're so glad we went!
Craving for ice cream when passing by this beautiful street and couldn’t stop myself when found Scoops. Very nice place and amazing pancakes smell just pushing you to grab it but I already had my lunch so leave it for next time. Really enjoyed white chocolate special which was particularly good. Also dog friendly and plenty of seatings.

Excellent pancake shop with a brilliant range of options, lovely atmosphere (indoor and outdoor seating). Brilliant value, especially the kids menu which included a pancake, drink, and ice cream. Great gluten free options available.

When visiting Caernarfon, we stopped by and had an ice cream as they looked amazing. We are so glad we did. It was absolutely gorgeous. They have different/unique flavours comparing to other places, and they were really good. The prices are quite reasonable as well. We spot other places selling ice cream and none looked as good as this one. If you are in the area, you should try it
Rita J — Google review
Plenty of ice cream & smoothie options, very friendly staff who will let you try some of the unique flavours. Great selections of vegan friendly ones and also a doggy mint ice cream and treats on the side. Sadly no seating as it was a rainy day, so I can’t comment on the decor. I enjoyed the raspberry sorbet and the pineapple smoothie.

We visited the cafe 27th of August, myself, My husband and my son. When we arrived, the cafe was pretty busy. It was advised that we could reserve the next vacant table and come back in 10/15 minutes and that was exactly what we did. On arrival we were seated, ordered our drinks and were advised there would be a 30 minute wait if we ordered pancakes. I was happy to be advised of the waiting time and for us the wait was no problem. The pancakes were really good (savoury), worth the wait, my only disappointment was not having enough room left for a sweet pancake! The main reason for the review was to give credit to the lovely staff, they were brilliant, hard working, informative, helpful and really friendly, nothing was to much trouble. It makes all the difference to be made to feel welcome. It's small and popular cafe, so, where possible, a bit of flexibility doesn't go a miss. Thanks again xx
Sarah E — Google review
Food was outstanding. We loved it. Did feel it was quite expensive for 1 pancake. There did not seem to be enough staff to run the restaurant with the amount of customers there were. It looked like everyone was run off their feet and just to busy to focus on customer service. We had to wait 40+ minutes for a pancake each. It was like they were not equipped to deal with larger groups arriving.
Amy L — Google review
Stopped here for an ice-cream passing by and it was lovely! The girl who served us was so friendly and attentive, she checked the flavours I wanted for me to check they were gluten free before I ordered which I really appreciated! Brilliant ice-cream and lovely atmosphere, thank you!
Olivia L — Google review
Pancakes were very nice but quite pricey for what you get. Lots of flavours, sweet or savoury. Seating in front and garden room. In front lots of seagulls so beware. Lots of people sitting eating ice cream cones not eating or drinking otherwise. Looks like it closed at 4 and they were trying to clear up when still eating. Signs weren't clear that they were due to close.

The family were absolutely lovely- genuinely kind and welcoming. The coffee was beautiful, bursting with rich flavor, and paired perfectly with the locally baked cakes that were simply delicious! The experience went beyond the beverage, as we received directions to local landmarks near Newborough Beach, along with useful information on the tides. And as a bonus, we even got a free picture to remember our visit. Kind souls, great coffee, and exceptional service- definitely a must-visit spot!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Lovely speciality coffee, we came just before closing for coffee and cake. The Barra Brith was amazing! Moist and fresh and a cracking big slice too (complete with Welsh butter!) They sell their own coffee beans and we bought a bag too. The coffee tastes amazing! Oat milk is available too! Outdoor seating has a fantastic view. UPDATE - we’ve now had a chance to try the beans we bought when visiting. They’re AMAZING! Lovely smooth chocolatey flavour. I’ll be buying more of these beans, hopefully they sell 1kg bags (photo added of the coffe made at home).

A Heartwarming Experience What a Gem 💎 This cafe is more than just a place for great coffee—it's a heartwarming experience. The mother and son who run it are a fantastic team; you can feel the care and passion they put into everything they do. The son is always so polite and cheerful, and the mother has the kindest smile. The food and drinks are top-notch, but it's their genuine hospitality that keeps me coming back. Supporting this beautiful family business feels good. Do yourself a favor and stop in!

Went for brunch and WOW, best I've had in a LONG time. The coffee was amazing and the breakfasts were SO tasty. My usual brekky is an eggs Benedict if eating out and although I was tempted by a big breakfast I went with the pork belly Benedict and it was gorgeous!! Also happy I had some room because we had caramel cruffins and they were to die for. Highly recommend if you're round the Newborough forest area, or anywhere else in Anglesey actually! The service and atmosphere was just as impeccable as the food. A real gem of a place 💎

A truly great find. Fresh local produce from their farm, local seafood, oysters from an oyster farm nearby, really lovely service. You’ll pay a bit more for this meal but it’s worth it for the amazing flavours you won’t get anywhere else. I’d say one of the best meals I’ve had out in years.
Lydia — Google review
What a wonderful find. Lovely place, great helpful service and food was out of this world. Thoroughly recommend it...
Gill T — Google review
Surprise beer and almond croissant while walking the coastal path. Beautiful outdoor seating area, and just what you need after 20 odd miles.
Rob P — Google review
Had a superb brunch this morning. Such a relaxing atmosphere inside the place and the staff were very friendly and attentive throughout. The food - every single bite was packed full of flavour and was of excellent quality too. Thank you! We loved it all!
Tess S — Google review
This is one of the best full breakfasts I've had in ages. You could just tell that the produce used was of really high quality. Good coffee and juice, and my mate's rhubarb juice that he ordered was a taste sensation. Friendly staff, nice decor, and we were even admiring the knives and forks. Not the cheapest you'll find, but I'd say it's worth it. It's also nestled a short drive away from one of the most stunning beaches you'll likely see anywhere.

Off the beaten path
For day 2, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Zip World Penrhyn Quarry. Not quite as popular as Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 7 hours.

Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks
Zip World Penrhyn Quarry is an internationally renowned tourist attraction located in the UNESCO world-heritage areas of Snowdonia National Park. It offers adrenaline-pumping experiences such as a 500ft-high zip line for mile-long rides with panoramic views of a slate quarry and the local coastline. The park features activities for all ages, including treetop nets for young adventurers, extreme rides for older children and adults, and even an inland surf lagoon at Surf Snowdonia.
Amazing, fantastic wonderful just a few words I exclaimed while visiting this adrenalin ride facility. So much fun riding velocity Zip wire and the Gravity Go Karts. Highly recommend a visit if you have chance. The staff are so friendly and fun making the experience even better.
Drew S — Google review
Such an amazing experience. Did velocity and aero explorer. The staff was friendly and super helpful. There is an abundance of parking but there is no electric charging points for electric cars. The views are incredible. Loved it and will be back again
Brian H — Google review
Booked a last minute deal for Quarry Karts and Velocity. Quarry Karts were a blast, it's a massive hill so you really get a good long drive down. Velocity, well, it's terrifying but in a good way. To be honest I was just really impressed with the safety standards, everything is checked twice by different staff members. Gave me confidence to just enjoy the experience. And I didn't meet a single staff member who wasn't pleasant and helpful, and most were chatty and obviously invested in good customer service. In a world where customer service has died, all the major supermarkets could do with learning lessons from this organisation.
Andrew P — Google review
Riding the velocity is definitely a bucket list thing, absolutely terrifying but brilliant. Staff are mostly friendly & chatty, and all safety measures are checked twice by different staff members which is very reassuring. The whole place seems to run like a well oiled machine & all the instructions were clear & concise which also helped a lot. It's a must do!

We had a brilliant time at 2 of your sites today ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Quarry karting at Penrhyn quarry The 2 guys running it were excellent very informative and friendly...the drive up to the top was amazing what an experience. Fast downhill in the karts..tight bends a tunnel and sheep on the track 🐏🐑 3 of us had a go and totally loved it will definitely be back Next we did the fforest coaster at Betws-y-coed Again both staff running it were very friendly and informative 3 runs down each and half price because we had booked another activity....bonus 👍👍 See you all again soon
Chris F — Google review
Highly recommendable. Velocity 2 - Must have experience. It's not that scary when we're doing the zip line. The people were so friendly there, and they were highly focused on safety, explaining everything in detail. It's worth the money.
Jameskuttty S — Google review
Amazing experience from start to finish, everything was so well organised and timed that there was never a period of time where we were waiting for long. The staff are so fun and friendly and they make you feel safe which was key for me! I would a million percent go back to try out the other experiences, it was booked as a birthday gift and it did not disappoint at all! I would definitely recommend!
Zoe F — Google review
Location was beautiful. Everything was very well organised from the start. We did the Quarry Carts and Velocity Zipline. Getting booked in and getting our wristbands took a matter of seconds. We were expertly directed where to go and what to do at each stage of our activities and every member of staff we met without exception was engaging, warm, funny and genuinely seemed to enjoy being there. Safety equipment and clothing were checked, double checked and triple checked which made you feel very safe. We had the best day and would definitely, definitely go again.

Historical landmark
Menai Suspension Bridge, built by Thomas Telford in 1826, is a historic road crossing with a pedestrian walkway that offers stunning views of the Menai Strait. Before the construction of the Expressway, it was the only route to access Anglesey by road. The bridge's impressive architecture and its significance as the first major suspension bridge of its kind make it a must-see attraction.
Beautiful views. Make sure you walk over the pedestrian path to see up the Menai Straits towards Beaumaris and down towards Plas Newydd. Look out for Church Island and the Druid stones. You can spot Heron, Swans and Seals if you're lucky.

Went for a walk and saw this beautiful looking bridge with spectacular views especially on a day with good weather. Will definitely be coming back here when I visit North Wales again. If you’re passing by, highly recommend stopping by and appreciating the views.
Ahnaful A — Google review
A beautiful bridge connecting Anglesey with the Wales mainland. Lots of walks around it base alongside the Menai Straits on both sides. Treat yourself to a rib ride under it!
Lois C — Google review
The views from this bridge are gorgeous and it's a brilliant bridge all on its own. Pity about the roadworks (July 2025) as we queued for around 20 minutes. The walk across would be even better. Worth a detour if you are in the area.
Elaine W — Google review
My favourite bridge, built bt Thomas Telford. I love the bottle green colour of the sea here and the whirlpools when the tide is high and the sun is out. Looks such a dangerous place to have built such a structure, truly incredible.
Iroam A — Google review
A really great experience and impressive historical bridge.well worth a visit if you are travelling nearby. Do spend some time viewing it and a path leads to the bottom where you get some great views and get to appreciate the engineering of this bridge.

Lovely area to go walking along the Menai strait and under the bridge. Follow the coastal path to church island. Great view point between both bridges. Great selection of shops and places to eat close by.

Castle
Penrhyn Castle & Garden, located in the quaint village of Llandygai in North Wales, is a magnificent country house with a rich history. Originally built as a medieval fortified manor house in the 15th century, it underwent significant modernization and expansion over the years. The current structure, designed by Thomas Hopper in the 19th century, boasts opulent interiors adorned with an impressive collection of fine art.
Lovely castle set in beautiful scenery with a view over the sea and the mountains. Beautiful gardens to explore and relax in, with ample picnic table spaces. The castle is definitely worth a visit, with extensive period furniture on display and explanations about interesting details of life in the castle. The kids loved the little train museum in the cafe courtyard, and the chance to climb onto an actual steam train. Loved our visit, will definitely come again!
Daniel L — Google review
Incredible experience. Our 3, 5 and 7 year old kids loved it. Couldn't believe the size of the castle. The open areas inside the castle were fascinating to explore and beautifully decorated. The games on the gardens around the castle were a lovely bonus for the kids. Would heartily recommend for a family day out.

One of the best National Trust properties I’ve been to. The castle which was built in the early 1800’s is magnificently imposing and is match by the stunning interior. The cherry on the cake are the beautiful gardens. The staff and volunteers are also very knowledgeable and welcoming.
Mark S — Google review
So beautiful, an 18th-century castle. I have not had enough time to step inside. However, the outside look after a walk around convinces me to come back to this place during the season. Special thanks to the counter staff for letting me in during the last hour of opening hours.

Well worth a visit. As one of a few national trust properties that has owned up to connections with slavery,we were intrigued. Its good to see that small steps are being made to include the alternative history. More should be mentioned of this, as all history is important. The house and Gardens will not disappoint and the cafe serves lively food. Dog friendly outside and dog friendly cafes in and out
Sally P — Google review
THE most impressive National Trust property I can remember visiting. The money that must have been expended to create such an ornate building boggles the mind. Breathtaking to be able to walk around this amazing building.
Paul F — Google review
Loved the place! The castle is beautiful in and out and has a very interesting history. We took a tour and enjoyed it very much! Very informative and interesting with great fun facts that you won’t find on the boards. Really nice architecture too.

There are obviously many castles in Wales but this one is impressive on so many levels. The castle is stunning and the views are incredible. Inside there is so much to see and outside there are the walled gardens with ponds and lovely flowers. This place is run by the national trust and managed to get some free passes at the time which was handy. Another highly recommended place to visit when in North Wales.

Pub
Antelope Inn, located overlooking Menai Bridge, is a popular spot offering bargain-priced dinners with most main dishes priced around 8-9 pounds. They also have a two for 11 offer if you are dining with company. The staff is friendly and accommodating, even holding the kitchen open for late-minute bookings. The food is delicious, with steaks served on sizzling plates and cooked to perfection. The inn offers free parking for customers and caters to various needs including reservations for parties.
This pub beside the Menai bridge was quaint and easy to miss driving past, but it was well worth finding whilst trying to hide from the rain. The food was absolutely beautiful, the fish and chips was cooked to perfection and the sausage and mash had an incredible gravy that almost tasted like beef dripping sauce. The food cost only £13.50 for both plates and was worth spending more on than charged for. The staff were very friendly and helpful and showed us where dogs were allowed. We sat beside the fireplace and had many lovely interactions with other guest appreciating the dog. There is also an incredible view from the terrace of the Menai bridge. I have absolutely no complaints about this place and would absolutely return and recommend it to others.
Donny T — Google review
To start, we were told there would be a 45 min wait for food and we'd have to sit outside. Thankfully, it was a nice evening, so we sat at a table outdoors to wait for our food. I am assuming the 45 min wait was due to a lack of kitchen help because I had to ask twice for parts of both of our dishes once they arrived. There was no dressing on my salad, and there were no vegetables with the surf and turf, although both were clearly stated on the menu. The wait staff were quick to address the issue, but the steak was dry and overcooked and sauces for the steak and chips would cost £1.50 extra for each sauce! The salad, once I had dressing, was okay, but it was a lot of raw red onions with lettuce, tomato and cucumber. I'm glad I ordered a protein to go with it, otherwise, it would have been a boring salad. I cannot recommend Antelope Inn and wouldn't eat there again.

Well located, pet friendly pub with pleasant surroundings. Wonderful view of Menai Bridge from outdoor garden. Plenty of indoor & outdoor seating. Ample parking nearby but don't forget to validate your car registration on arrival, inside the pub. Staff very friendly & service was excellent. Large selection of food & drink. Thank you.

Had a lovely visit to the Antelope Inn in Bangor with my two kids and couldn’t fault a thing. Two of us went for the curry deal and the other had the chicken burger — all the food was tasty, good portions, and excellent value. Puddings were great too. What really made the visit stand out was the service. The staff were welcoming from the start, and a special mention has to go to Grace behind the bar, who was cheerful, friendly, and made us feel right at home. It’s always nice when staff genuinely enjoy what they do, and it really showed. Great food, great service, and a warm atmosphere — we’ll definitely be back!

Booking a table is not compulsory but advisory as the tables fill up rather quickly. The service was great with very friendly staff taking consideration towards any allergies or other needs. The food was very satisfying with crunchy skin on fries and a very well structured burger with lightly toasted buns. I also tried a small piece of my wife's gammon which was filled with taste and very succulent.

Not too busy for a Saturday afternoon. Went for food with my Dad. I had a steak, which I devoured and my Dad had gammon 👌 Excellent service all round. Good background tunes too
Kelly F — Google review
Reasonable prices. Nice staff. Small issue with order (blue cheese sauce missing) but the team sorted it without any hassle. Steak cooked to request and other than the fact that my dish felt a little light on the pulled pork my dish would have been the best. As it was, my daughter's burger looked the best dish But the wife's sticking chicken strips looked the best value

It is known for its high-quality service and emphasis on exceeding expectations. The cafe provides a variety of dishes, including moist falafel, making it a hidden gem in Anglesey, North Wales. With polite staff and good food, it's a great option for families visiting Bangor.
10/10 experience here, pink lemonade and dandelion and burdock drinks were brilliant. Great amount of vegetarian options, sesame loaded chips are gorgeous as well as the hummus and pita bread. Definitely will go back!

How wonderful was it to discover this place having been told by a lovely and funny local lady in the car park that there was nowhere worth visiting. (She had a white car with purple trims if you know her...tell her about this place please). We got chatting with the manager and loved the stories he told us about the owner and how he creates these wonderful dishes and the decor on the alleyway approaching the taproom and unisex toilets (very quirky). I delighted in a Bibimbap with chicken whilst hubby had a burger and some potatoes that were on the specials board. We both relished each dish with much delight. Not enthralled with Bangor itself but would certainly go back just to eat here again. Highly recommended.
Dawn R — Google review
A hidden little gem, took us a minute to find it tucked away on main high street. Very friendly staff, extremely welcoming. There is this Brazilian / Jamaican theme going on and food seems to be inspired with this in mind too. Any restaurant you go to where you can see them cooking your food from fresh only gives you confidence that you will get something worth the wait. Extremely tasty food! Full of flavour, really really very good.
C B — Google review
I’ve eaten and drank here a number of times over the past couple of years. Each time I’ve visited the staff have been excellent, the coffee is outstanding and the choice and quality of the food is exceptional. Much of the menu is made in house, even their breads, beans and ketchup ! There is consistent an excellent line of high quality beers on tap (you won’t find any carling or madri nonsense here!!) and a well stocked fridge with cans and bottles from many different breweries. Would highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area!

Fresh quality cooked food with lovely dressings and marinades to add a delicious taste. A quirky, relaxed dining experience. Staff very welcoming and hospitable. A great in centre of Bangor. Coffees are delicious as well as their hot chocolates for the kids! Well worth a visit. We took our children and dog as we were able to sit downstairs. Chicken pitta, Korean chicken burger and chicken flatbread were our choices and they were very good indeed! Thanks Blue Sky Cafe
