Makris Gialos Beach is a picturesque sandy stretch with calm aqua waters and stunning views. It's an ideal spot for families, offering comfy lounge chairs for rent. The name translates to 'long sandy beach,' perfectly capturing its serene atmosphere. Visitors can bask in the warm Mediterranean sun or find shade under umbrellas while enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
The water is crystal clear and perfect for swimming, and the sand is soft and clean. There are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, making it ideal for a peaceful day at the beach, yet still lively enough to enjoy a fun day in the sun.
Nevena M — Google review
Nice sandy beach, cristal clear water and sun-beds options - cafe area with paid sun-beds or public beach area where you can use your own umbrellas. This is one of the most crowded beach but you can always find a spot. Water sports are also possible option here.
Alex R — Google review
Hands down our favourite spot of the whole holiday — honestly one of the nicest beaches I’ve ever been to! The sand is soft and lovely (though fair warning, it does get scorching hot in peak sunshine!), and the water is absolutely crystal clear. I’m usually a bit hesitant about swimming in the sea, but I felt so confident here because the water was so clear and calm — you could see everything around you. It made for such a relaxing swim. The beach itself was clean, spacious, and never felt overcrowded. There were several shaded areas available too, which is great if you don’t have your own umbrella. One of the best parts is the convenience — there are three beachside bars/restaurants right there, plus a water sports provider if you’re feeling adventurous. The clear waters also made for perfect snorkelling — we saw loads of little fish without having to go far at all.
Olivia I — Google review
A small but nice beach with crystal clear waters and fine sand hidden in a bay with a beach bar with parking nearby. It is a well-sheltered beach where you can walk peacefully when strong winds blow on the island, it is only slightly affected by waves due to the bay and the huge rocks in the water on the side of the beach
Liviu H — Google review
Beautiful beach! Long stretch of sand, plenty of spaces to lie down in peace. Sand had good fine coarseness to it and was clean. Nice couple of restaurants for a bite/Cafe if you want to save money from the sunbeds.
Jimi D — Google review
Crystal clear water, shallow and ideal for families and young children, sandy beach. Sand can get very hot, so take flip flops/shoes. Plenty of car parking at the top and the steps down are not too steep, but can be a bit sandy/slippy. Loads of sun beds and parasols to choose from at ok prices and there is a large section where you can lay towels and take umbrellas. Several public toilets and a couple of beach bars which are great for snacks and drinks - prices are quite high though. Overall a great beach and facilities.
Ben — Google review
Clean beach with little to no wasps. There’s plenty of parking and it’s easy to walk around. The water is crystal clear and not crowded at all. The service at the beach bar is a bit lacking though the staff can sometimes come across as grumpy, and the prices for food and drinks are quite high. €20 for a chicken sandwich with fries and around €8 for a beer. Soft drinks were about €3.50. Renting the sunbeds is also rather expensive. In October we paid €30 for two beds and an umbrella. So if you come often, that can add up. There’s also a very cute orange cat wandering around. He likes to lie in the shade near you, but be careful, he tends to scratch if you try to pet him!
Ferdi — Google review
This is a truly superb beach. The water is crystal clear and it is isnt a huge walk from the main road. Plenty of car parking for scooters and cars. We were only staying about a 10 minute walk from the beach and it was perfect for anyone staying at san lorenzo village or within that area. We never bothered with getting any sun loungers. Plenty of room for you to bring your umbrellas to enjoy the day. Supermarkey sells them for €20 which is a short walk. Zorbas restaurant also do takeaways to bring down. Honestly a fantastic beach.

Beach
Platis Gialos Beach is a picturesque coastal spot located 3 km from Argostoli, adjacent to Makrys Gialos beach. The area is embraced by verdant hills and abundant vegetation. This beach boasts pristine white sand and crystal-clear waters, earning it the prestigious Blue Flag for cleanliness and excellent facilities. It's not overly crowded, making it perfect for snorkeling enthusiasts.
Very clean sandy beach, easy to access with parking available near the beach or can be accessed by foot. Deck chairs 15€ for two. The beach also has a kiosk for water snacks coffee etc.
Ania D — Google review
The most beautiful beach ⛱️ with outstanding views. Free parking, changing rooms and WCs. Sunbathing and swimming in the crystal clear sea made easy with plenty of space, small shop with a shaded area. Beautiful way to relax and very popular with locals who are so friendly. Sunbeds and umbrella 15 Euro and cash and card both taken.
W C — Google review
Excellent beach, great for spending time with the kids. The beach is sandy and the entrance is very gentle, the beach has all the necessary services and you don't have to pay for a beach umbrella or chairs if you bring your own or just want to lie in the sun. There is limited parking on site and another parking space across the road on a sandy lot. Highly recommended.
Ofir V — Google review
Expensive umbrella charge! Wanted 100 euros for a front row umbrella! 70 for further back. Seems like trying to gouge cruise ship visitors. Nice beach but slippery stairs down to beach and entry into the water rocky for first 5 meters. Very nice sand after that. Water sports a bit noisy as they go back and forth with inflatables.
Paul D — Google review
The water is calm and crystal clear but keep in mind that the sunbeds are in limited number so it is pretty difficult to find available ones if you don't get there early. The cost is 15 euros for 2 sunbeds
Alexandra P — Google review
Lovely beach right next to White rocks hotel. The sea is crystal clear to start and then a lovely tourqoise. Be careful entering sea as first metre is fine single that sucks you in, then few metres of smooth rock before hitting sand. Price for front row umbrella and two loungers was €20 (SEP 25).
James 4 — Google review
Very beautiful and clean beach! Lots of fish to look at and mostly sandy:) it has a shower, a cafe, changing rooms and a bathroom next to the parking. Also you can rent kounge chairs and umbrellas. Highly recommend.

A nice sandy beach in Lassi. Lots of changing rooms, rather clean toilets (on the parking lot but be warned: no toilet paper at all). Plenty of natural shade because of the rocks. Paid sunbeds - 15 Euro a pair. The water is amazing and a friend of mine saw a massive sea turtle! The only bad thing are the many cigarette buds in the sand, like hundreds.

Paliostafida Beach, situated in Argostoli on the picturesque island of Kefalonia in Greece, is a renowned spot for tourists seeking pristine sandy shores and clear azure waters. The beach offers various water sports activities and is perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Visitors can also explore the charming streets, historic landmarks, and vibrant nightlife of nearby Argostoli. The beach features a small bar with friendly staff offering tasty food and drinks at reasonable prices.
For me top 3 beach on the island. We were on the right beach and this is for me best beach for children. You can go more then 5 meters in water and the deth wold be like 40-50cm. Water very nice, sand too, it has showers and toilets next to restaurant. Biggest plus for me is the shade you get. If you go there around 9 you can choose any place of shade you think is the best. Beach is clean and great!
Yumirio S — Google review
Absolutely beautiful beach, with soft, clean, golden sand and the clearest of water. Tucked away as it looks as if they are building a seafront hotel. We were there from lunch time onwards and there was very little construction noise. The lapping of the waves in the shallow water, was the only thing we could hear from our sun loungers! Absolutely blissful. Two loungers and a grass umbrella for 20€. Great price for May. Big bonus is a snack bar serving drinks, alcohol and snacks. Extremely friendly and helpful service and I had the most delicious Greek salad baguette. A hidden gem of a beach and the best I've been to in a long time!
Caroline P — Google review
Very nice beach. Sandy but large pebbles going in to the sea so can be painful walking in to the water. There is a new construction on the south end of the beach which is a bit of an eyesore. Longers and parasols a little expensive in my opinion but you may be able to sneak onto the ones owned by the hotel and there are many of them. Sea is clean and good for snorkelling with a few rocky areas. There is a snack cafe and shower and toilet. Access is very easy with ramps and steps. A few cigarette ends and bits of rubbish on sand but not much. Plenty of space in August. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
Richard B — Google review
Nice beach. Sunbeds to rent which take up most of the nice sand to lie on. Good drinks stand, friendly workers. Not the most scenic walk there with all the construction.
Jimi D — Google review
There are some parking spaces behind the construction site. The first part of the beach is small and the waves reach all the sunbeds. There is a bigger beach, if you walk a little bit and jump some rocks. There is only sand and the water is very nice.
C G — Google review
Quiet little Sandy beach, perfect to get away from the crowds. A toilet, shower and changing room. And the best little bar serving the most amazing gyros. The owner of the bar totally looked after us, and even helped us book a taxi back to the ship. €20 for two beds and a parasol, get there early as they fill up. Wonderfully chilled tunes in the back ground. Yes there is a hotel being built directly behind, but it didn’t ruin our visit. Would go again totally. Thank you.
Lorraine B — Google review
Small beach with a small canteen and few sunbeds. They are building huge hotel units right above this small beautiful beach so honestly idk how it will look like in a few years! The water is clear, it has sand and it is shallow so perfect if you have young kids

Gradakia Beach is a favorite gem on the island of Kefalonia, located close to Lassi. It offers soft sand and crystal-clear waters, making it an absolute marvel for visitors. Accessible by car with free parking available, getting here is stress-free. The beach provides various sunbed setups at different prices and a rocky area perfect for snorkeling and observing marine life.
Nice sized beach with a bar and plenty of loungers. We brought our own umbrella and a throw and settled at the far end. The waters are beautiful. We also visited at sunset for a picnic and evening swim, they were playing some nice Balearic tunes, very relaxing
Mel B — Google review
Nice beach , we see more beautiful in the island. Pay attention set of sun beds are 12€
Elihay N — Google review
Gradakia Beach is a decent option in the Lassi area. It's a smaller beach with soft, gray sand and clear water. The beach is organized with sunbeds and a beach bar, which is convenient. The sunbeds and refreshments are priced fairly for the area. The beach offers a relaxed atmosphere, making it suitable for a quiet day. It's easy to get to by car, and there are views of the surrounding area. Overall, it's a fine place to spend some time if you're looking for a low-key beach experience.
Ioannis — Google review
It is nice, but very small...it is sandy beach and often, water isn't clear, it gets crowdy...across the beach, there is clear shallow lagoone where you can get trough the stones and enjoy the little caves, snorkeling without crowd
Aleksandra M — Google review
Such a lovely little beach. There is plenty of of parking nearby, the water is clear and shallow. Perfect for kids.
Diana C — Google review
Lovely small beach. Good for swimming and snorkelling (especially in the the next two bays with caves by Kamaroules taverna).
Will D — Google review
Rocks, cliffs, no beach, no sand. Not a beach. Down a steep hill to get to, then you realise there's no beach and have to walk back up. There is a road you can drive down there on. No toilet, no cafe, nothing good there. Unless you like to sit on rock. Not good if you're looking for a beach.

Scenic Walking Areas
De Bosset Bridge, also known as Drapano Bridge, is a remarkable stone bridge stretching 700 meters across the sea, connecting Argostoli with settlements on the north side of Koutavos Lagoon. Built in 1813 by Swiss engineer De Bosset, it offers stunning views of Argostoli and its marina. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls or cycling sessions along the causeway, even at night.
This is a must place to go if your visiting Argostoli. Go late afternoon / early evening and, if you're patient, you'll see turtles coming up for air. You can, if the mood takes you, walk to the other side of the harbour, but at least go to the obelisk for a great view of Argostoli. The harbour front can seem a little 'down at heel', but it's perfectly safe and busy. Go one or two streets inland and you'll come to pleasent and long shopping street - souvenir shops, cafes, restaurants, high end shops etc, etc.
Simon S — Google review
If you're in Argostoli, make time to walk this bridge. One of my favorite things I experienced while on Cephalonia. Tranquil walk and lovely view of the city from here.
Rachel R — Google review
A historic bridge, a scenic walkway and viewing site for turtles, though we just saw an egret catching the many fish
Penny B — Google review
A highlight in Argostoli is its longest stone bridge in the world over a sea (at almost 700m), a marvel of ever-changing colors. Built in the early 19th century, it withstood several earthquakes, in particular the tragic 1953 one which flattened the city. It zigzags across the shallow bay, giving strollers time to watch rich marine life all around. A delightful walk at all times of day and night.
Cécile E — Google review
Convenient bridge with clear shallow water on both sides. Also an historic monument, it connects Argostoli to the other side and it is about a 10 minute walk. If it's busy in the city you can park your car at the other side and walk to the city.
Diederik D — Google review
A visit to the De Bosset Bridge is an absolute must-do when you're in Argostoli. This historic stone bridge is not just a way to get from one side of the bay to the other; it's a beautiful, peaceful walk with stunning views. As you stroll across, you can see the clear turquoise waters, and it's a great spot to watch the local fishing boats and the occasional loggerhead turtle swimming below. The monument in the center adds a touch of historical grandeur, and the entire experience is incredibly serene, especially in the morning or late afternoon. It truly connects the main town of Argostoli with the surrounding landscape in a special way. This bridge is more than a landmark; it's an experience that captures the essence of Kefalonia's tranquil beauty. I can't recommend it enough—make sure you take the time to walk its length.
Ioannis — Google review
The most famous place in this city, which you should visit. And if you can handle it, cross it to the other side. You will get unique experience by crossing the sea by the bridge and also beautiful city views.
Ladislav L — Google review
A nice relaxing walk, we walked it in the hour before sunset and saw some turtles.

Phaedra Restaurant, established in 1997, is situated in the picturesque area of Lassi, Argostoli. This charming restaurant boasts a terrace that offers a delightful dining experience. Located near the popular beaches of Makrys and Platys Gialos, it attracts both tourists and locals alike. The menu features delectable dishes such as Dolmades, fresh grilled Sea Bass, rabbit kokinisto, and Blueberry cheesecake.
Simply the best restaurant we’ve been to in Kefalonia. The food is excellent—fresh and flavorful. The staff is professional, friendly, and provides top-notch service. Add to that homemade desserts and ice creams, and you’ve got a must-visit spot.

Spacious area. Great food and great service. Elaborate menu and for us all the dishes were tasty. Here I enjoyed the stuffed vine leaves the most out of all the restaurants. They offer some tasty local wines as well.

One of the best places in Kefalonia. The food was excellent. Their grilled veggies were really tasty and so soft. The service was excellent and the recommended dishes were a pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend the place. I went there with my boyfriend and we were so happy that we went for dinner also the day after.
Ariadni D — Google review
I can confidently say this is probably the best restaurant in Kefalonia. Everything we tried from the menu was absolutely delicious! Possibly the best garlic prawns I’ve ever had, and definitely the best baklava we tried on the island. The staff were very professional, polite and spoke excellent English, which made the experience even better. Honestly, the only downside was that we didn’t have enough days to come back and try more dishes from the menu. We’ll definitely be returning next time we’re in Kefalonia!

Phaedra is a lovely restaurant located in Lassi, Kefalonia, with a welcoming atmosphere and super friendly staff who make you feel at home from the start. The location is all outdoor, with plenty of seating and a cozy setup where you can even catch a beautiful sunset while dining. The food is truly delicious — fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The seabass is perfectly cooked and tender, while the prawns linguini is rich and full of taste — both highly recommended dishes. The fish is fresh and you can tell they really care about quality. Prices are in line with the area’s standards, and as a nice touch, they even offer you something at the end of your meal, which makes the experience even more pleasant. Overall, Phaedra is a great choice if you’re in Lassi and want to enjoy a relaxed dinner with good food, warm service, and a lovely sunset view.

We came here for the last 3 days and all I can say is that everything was perfect! The food, the service, the staff and the atmosphere! If we ever come back to Kefalonia, we will surely come back to this place!

Really good food, definitely a cut above the others on this strip. We had the saganaki cheese with tomato marmalade and kumquat confit, lovely. Then mains were the seafood souvlaki and the lamb shank in dark beer, olive oil and garlic sauce, both excellent. House rosë was quite drinkable too.

Zorbas, a restaurant in Kefalonia, offers a delightful dining experience. On the first night, patrons enjoyed a delectable dinner with options like juicy grilled chicken fillet accompanied by rice and succulent pork souvlaki served with French fries. The service was commendable as there was little to no wait time. A highlight of the meal was their secret dip, served alongside delicious bread. Although its ingredients remain unknown, it added an extra layer of flavor to the dishes.
We loved this restaurant we came back twice!! Both times the staff were super friendly and very welcoming! Service was quick and there is sometimes traditional Greek music which we missed! The food was delicious! The fried courgette and courgette balls were great! The chicken souvlaki was cooked perfectly and full of flavour! The ouzo meze was also great to have a variety of meats! We loved both meals here!

Rolled in having had a tough day crossing the beach. Had a really good seafood platter and two cold beers. The place was a little empty but it was early. The food was excellent. Tried the dessert menu which was processed desserts from an ice cream company. Would like to have seen baclava, orange pie etc as Kefalonia has some great desserts. The staff were friendly.

We came here for lunch and i would highly recommend this restaurant. The owner and staff are very welcoming and friendly. There is a nice authentic greek feel to the place. We had a mized vegetarian meze (menu 1) which had an excellent stuffed aubergine, courgette fritter, garlic pepper and delicious pepper. The children had a burger and souvlaki which were also very tasty. Prices are good and reasonable for the area. Unfortunately i didnt take pictures until the halfway through the food but trust me you hsve to come here for lunch or dinner!!

Very bad experience . When we walked by the restaurant, a man standing at the entrance tried to convince us to come in. I stopped to look at the menu and saw that the gyros was priced at €12.50. I asked how much a pita gyros to go (something you eat in your hand) would cost, and he told me €5. Then he added, “But if you sit inside, I’ll make it a full portion for €6 — I’ll let the waiters know.” He also emphasized that everything was homemade, mentioning he had his own garden with tomatoes, cucumbers, and other vegetables. That made it sound authentic and worth trying. We agreed to go in. But once the waiter came to take our order, he said it would be €6 per person for half a gyros on a plate. That was not what we had been told outside, and since we were hungry, we said we would rather just take two pita gyros to go instead. Right away, we noticed the restaurant was completely empty — not a single guest inside, just the owner’s children sitting around. That should have been a red flag. While we waited, the waiter came by twice trying to offer us drinks, despite us clearly saying we didn’t want any. It felt a bit pushy and made things uncomfortable. When the food was finally ready, it came packed in basic aluminum takeaway containers. We expected them to be sealed better, but we didn’t complain. We had the money in hand, and the same man who greeted us outside quickly grabbed the €10 from us, handed us the food, and sent us on our way. However, when we opened the containers later at the beach, we were shocked. It was clearly one gyros split in two — not two full portions. There was no salad included, even tzatziki, even though it had been promised, and they hadn’t given us any utensils either. We ended up sitting on the beach eating with our hands like stray dogs, which was honestly embarrassing. Overall, the experience felt misleading and unprofessional. The empty restaurant now makes perfect sense. We won’t be going back.

Happy hour between 6-9 and applies to most cocktails. Live greek music on Tuesday and Sundays - the bar/restaurant can get really busy so you may need to reserve a table in the restaurant on those days. Sky sports in the bar shows premier league matches. All dishes in the restaurant were cooked well with good flavours. Mixed grill for one or two is highly recommend - on the night we went they had a special to include a Greek salad & tzatziki with with mixed grill - no extra charge. Good for relaxing and late night drinks.

Fantastic fresh fish dishes kept this ol cowboy and Mrs Pardner happy. Cold Mythos beer and friendly staff. The decor was a fresh lime colour surrounded by bougainvillea. After a hard day crossing the sands of Lassi beach this was very much in order.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrilliant mixed grill for two with Greek Salad... extra onion for me... and chips... lovely sunset and great Jamaican cocktails... Poly Gamato!... Poly Gala... Efaristo Poly!

Cracking bar / restaurant. Happy hour cocktails only 4.5 euros each and pretty damn strong. We also ate here and the food was very good, especially the pizzas.

Good drinks. Service was ok. Didn't ask how the food was...it was horrible, tasteless and both greek specials. Never given a greek restaurant/bar a bad review until now. Music, TV sports coverage is great. Food terrible. Even the homeless cats didn't eat it. Such a shame.

Can't rate the food as we didn't eat here! Cocktails are 4 and a half euros from 6 pm until 9 pm! And they are well worth that! My half-brother lives in kefalonia and works there, he is on the food side of the business! Pop in and say hi!

Greek restaurant
Nestled along the picturesque coast of Argostolion, Ampelaki Greek Restaurant stands out as a delightful destination for those seeking authentic Greek flavors. This modern eatery offers a fresh take on traditional taverna dining, making it an ideal spot for couples and families alike. The menu features beloved classics such as Moussaka and seafood risotto, alongside vibrant salads like Greek salad and tzatziki.
Our first visit to Argostoli we trusted Google reviews to pick a restaurant and we weren't let down. Excellent establishment, courteous staff who offered to accommodate us inside while we wait for a table outside to become vacant. The food was delicious and very well prepared. Simple yet very well thought menu. Definitely check it out. The octopus kriteraki was great.

Fantastic restaurant. Excellent quality food with care in a great setting. The menu offers some great alternatives to the ’standard’ greek menu. The owners and staff are very welcoming and happy to assist however they can. Would return and recommend. Our third time at this restaurant! Everything excellent!

Ampelaki has set a high bar as our first dinner in Kefalonia. The moussaka is quite possibly one of the best I've ever had - creamy and rich. The grilled octopus with beans was also exquisite. The sauce on the rabbit was delicious, but the gameyness of it wasn't quite my taste. No matter, the dessert of patsavouropita was to die for and made up for it. Service was genuine, warm, and attentive.

Amazing shop! Recommended! The sea bream fillet was impeccable, the calamari perfectly fried, and the pastitsio divine! Cooked at the moment, individually in a clay pot. Be sure to get the crab meatballs and the cheese pie. All handmade and fresh. The staff was very kind, they responded whenever we needed them. All this in a nice environment by the sea and at absolutely reasonable prices. Well done!!! Keep going!

The food was good over all excepting the moussaka witch was rly bad(tasteless). That was disappointing. But the fresh fried calamari was insane. Probably the best calamari I ate in Greece in the last 5 years. French fries were good also. The service is nice, everything else is perfect. I guess the only issue was the moussaka.

The food was soooo delicious, one of the most things we liked in Kefalonia, there is a little bit noise and the service a little slow , some cats may bother you but it was fine , I would recommend it if you are in Argostoli

We had our first meal in Argostoli, Kefalonia at this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The pastitsio was one of the best I’ve ever ate. The balance with the béchamel sauce was spot on and not too rich at all. My dad enjoyed his meat dish while mum enjoyed the pastitsio as well. The complimentary dessert hit the spot. We will definitely be back!

The restaurant is in front of the sea sidearea in Argostoli. The food, the atmosphere, the service everything was great. They brought everything surprisingly quick and we ate rather fast but kept nibbling when the manager of the restaurant sent 4 different people in 15’ minutes to ask us if we were finished! We really felt like they were shoving us out of the restaurant! Ps. We did a reservation a day before and nobody informed us about a time slot so this behavior was somewhat rude to us…
