Plaza Mayor Ainsa is a captivating gem nestled atop a hill, offering visitors a glimpse into the medieval past of this charming town. As you wander through its cobbled streets, you'll discover an array of delightful restaurants and quaint gift shops tucked beneath archways. The plaza is surrounded by picturesque views of the old town and majestic mountains, making it an ideal spot for leisurely exploration.
Didn't do much research on Ainsa, thought we'd check out the Plaza. WOW , beautiful medieval old town high above modern Ainsa with stunning views , lovely gift shops, bars, a small craft market and restaurants. Bit of an uphill trek by foot, but noticed a carpark at the top so obviously driveable.
J M — Google review
This stop was part of our Spanish cooking and hiking holiday with Argon Active. The entire medieval town is interesting. The picture of the wall is to show the ancient river bed that the town is built on. It looks like you can pull out the rocks but you can't.
Julia P — Google review
Magical place, it's like going back in time.

Hidden above the modern town, the medieval heart sits on a hill and is a fantastic place to visit. There is a car park for those who don't have the stamina to walk. The main square has a few restaurants, cafes and tourist gift shops tucked away in the archways. Next to the square there is a small park and the remains of a fortress which offers great views over the old town and the mountains. You can easily spend a couple of hours here.
Tamzin V — Google review
Its a very nice town, with lovely streets. You can walk around and enjoy the view of this charming town. You have a few souvenir shops and a square with restaurants as well. I would also recommend going to the eco museum nearby about the bearded vultures nearby

Stunning place would have liked to spend more time here especially if we stayed in one of the nice looking hotel's.
Colin B — Google review
Quite nice plaza mayor. Requires a little walking, and not very wheelchair or highheels friendly due to the cobbles.. Has some interesting shops. The restaurants in the plaza are fairly well priced and have a half decent selection of food. The castle at the end is worth walking around for some photo opportunities.
Robert V — Google review
Beautiful old Town. The castle is nearby for a great photo from the top. The town isn't large so easy to see it all in a few hours. Great bars around and good food.

Ecomuseo de la Fauna, managed by the Fundación para la Conservación del Quebrantahuesos (FCQ), is home to 6 raptors and a special resident named Huesos, a 2-year-old bearded vulture. The museum offers informative displays in both English and Spanish, providing insights into the wildlife of the Pyrenees.
Excellent place to visit and the lady on reception was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The displays and video are really informative.
K B — Google review
Great! I recommend 100%. Great professionals and dedicated with passion for the species conservation. I recommend the visit to the vulture feeding point. Great biologists will give you a talk about how they live and how they work with the human community in the area for the conservation of these amazing birds
Eva M — Google review
The staff here were so lovely (visited 28th May) - thank you! The museum had most information shown in English and Spanish, and we really enjoyed our visit. Super informative, really well thought out displays and we learnt a lot - it was bigger than we expected and well worth the 5 euro entry charge. Would highly recommend to anyone walking in the area - this will teach you so much about the wildlife of the Pyrenees. Seeing the vultures they have was a highlight! I don't personally visit zoos because I'm not keen on animals that should be wild being in captivity, but these are here because of former injuries that mean they can't be released. There's also an EV charger in the carpark, FYI!
Emily M — Google review
Excellent little museum with three sections: live rescued birds of prey, a nature film shot the area and detrimental effects of climate change and mankind, and a 3-floor exhibit of fauna and flora at different levels of the Pyrenees (including sounds).
Janette S — Google review
A great way to know more about "quebrantahuesos" and the flora and fauna found in the area. The tickets are inexpensive (5€) and the visit takes around 45 minutes. Totally worth visiting (with or without) children.
Laia — Google review
A must visit if you have any interest in birds and wildlife. I bought an identification book on Spanish birds and a lammergeier t-shirt. We took the 4euro tour through the museum and saw the good work they do caring for injured wildlife. Really great service from the woman at the desk. Highly recommend
Simon ( — Google review
Really good museum, opportunity to learn about the rare bearded vulture and the environmental challenges they face, also to meet some real birds of prey. Very good displays and only 5 euros entry.

A must if you comp up to old Ainsa. Fascinating museum dedicated to nature and conservation. Ascend the stairs through the mountain habitats. Also house some injured raptors, including bearded vultures.

This agency's offerings include 4x4 tours and snowshoe expeditions, allowing tourists to experience the beauty of this region in various ways.
This viewpoint is the ideal starting point on your hike into the ordesa valley and worth every drop of sweat to reach it. Breathtaking views!!

Great 'real' 4x4 trip from Ainsa up into the mountains to the top of the Cinca valley, well above the tree line and tarmac. From the refuge at the highest point of the trip we were looking across at melting glacial snow feeding multiple large waterfalls that feed that river. Guide Lauda is a chatty humorous guide and she provided a very good insight into the geology and fauna found in the high Pyrenese. The Spanish side of Pyrenees is outstanding with lots of intertwined deep river valleys with deep gorges. This region is a real outdoor activities mega zone. Not many Brits seem to have discovered the area. Maybe because not much promotion is done in English?

Visitors can explore traditional houses, viewpoints, restaurants, and tourist shops offering local food and gifts. Regarded as one of Spain's most beautiful towns, Ainsa captivates with its rich history and allure. Very nice Medieval town with slate-roof stone houses, castle grounds, Romanesque church, town wall with various gate access...located on a hill at the confluence of two rivers. From the town you are able to walk on several footpaths across the countryside. It is quite touristic and has plenty of bars, restaurants and shops of all sorts, though keeping it warm and friendly, not too busy. Scenery is great with views of the nearby Pyrenees.

Real Monasterio de San Victorián, located on the slopes of La Pena Montanesa, is considered one of the oldest monasteries in Spain. Dating back to the 11th century, it holds a significant historical and cultural value. Visitors can easily access the monastery by car or take a scenic hike from nearby Fosado. The monastery offers guided tours and opens its doors for visits without requiring tickets.

(Translated by Google) Monument full of history located in a paradisiacal location, at mid-height on the slopes of the Peña Montañesa. Building unattractive due to time and history but which fortunately they have endeavored to restore a minimum of its former splendor. The access road is narrow and full of curves, but it is in very good condition and well signposted. The visit, as it is necessarily guided, is enjoyable and instructive. It is essential to check the schedules, which change according to the season, because otherwise you can end up with a good portion of wasted kilometers. The vicissitudes that the monastery has gone through over the centuries are surprising. Recommended for those of us who love mountains and art.

(Translated by Google) Its origins date back to the 5th century (note: 5 with a V), when the hermitage of San Martín de Asán was ruled by the holy Abbot Victorián, during the reign of the Visigoth Gesalaico (485-511). Antonio García Omedes writes on his website about Aragonese Romanesque: “San Victorián, at the head of the Sobrarbe, at the foot of the Sierra Ferrera, overlooking the region of L'Ainsa and the La Fueva valley, was to Sobrarbe what San Juan de la Peña was to Jacetania. With the Cluniac reform of Sancho Ramírez in 1071, it, like the Pinatense monastery, came under the direct protection of the Holy See. Its decline began in 1571, when its revenues were applied, by order of Pope Pius V, to the endowment of the new diocese of Barbastro. The confiscation of church property by Mendizabal in 1835 was its final blow.” After many years of being half-abandoned by public authorities, the Government of Aragon has been restoring it in several phases over recent years, and today the church and adjacent rooms, the crypt, and the cloister are open to visitors. There is even a schedule of guided tours and cultural activities in the summer. A visit is highly recommended, not only for the monastery itself, but also for its magnificent setting at the foot of the Sierra Ferrera. [Reissued July 6, 2025] It is a joy to see new areas restored and accessible, open to the public, with each visit. What a joy to enter the cloister and climb the tower.

You have to be able to steer and shift gears well to get there, because about a third of the twelve kilometer long, very winding mountain road is well equipped with potholes (other than potholes), which you really have to avoid if you don't want to have to call the Emergency Center. Visit Monasterio? Come on Sundays!! (Translated by Google) A magnificent monastery, mostly in ruins, although it's being restored little by little. Lost in the mountains, next to the mountain crag, it must have been important at one time. Now, to get there, you have to navigate narrow, winding paths. Be careful! Check visiting hours, as they are very limited. The surroundings are very isolated, and there aren't many restaurants in the nearby villages. The scenery is worth the visit. We wanted to have lunch on Sunday. The one and only waiter was super busy, so we waited 5 minutes to be seated (there were empty tables though), but as he did not talk to us, we sat down and took a menu from the desk. The waiter came after another 5 minutes, angry and shouting at us how dare did we sit down and took the menu. So we got up straight away. Rude and unprofessional service.
Attila P — Google review
Slow, unprofessional service, writing this review while waiting for the second course, already for 20 minutes. Rissotto made with the wrong rice type, served cold meat. We had to eat with our coats on coz the door was open and they told us if they turn the heating on the electricity shuts down. Menu price is 16€, I would not repeat, not really worth it.

The restaurant has received accolades from over 10 gastronomic guides and is known for its excellent food and service. Diners can enjoy outdoor seating under historic porches, providing a pleasant dining experience even in warm weather.
Nice restaurant in Ainsa town square. We had a fixed three course menu for a large group. Main course was lamb which was moist and well cooked. A very pleasant atmosphere, sitting outside under the arches. Good service. Would recommend.

Very good food. First we had ham ibetico of blackfooted pork. After. My daughter had froglegs, I had duck with raspberry sauce, my husband had a chuleton. For dessert I haft chocolate truffle and my daughter an ice-cream of turrón. All in all a very good experience. Food was very good. The place magnificent, especially when the night came.

Amazing food and service. Located under the porches built centuries ago, providing natural fresh temperatures even in the middle of a heatwave. I recommend it blindly to anyone in the area. And leave room for the desserts! (All of them home made, obviously).
Pau G — Google review
Although we had a nice evening, we feel scammed when walking away. Prices ex VAT on a menu are illegal. For the price you pay here for a main dish you would expect it to be an excellent dish. The meat we got tasted well, but besides the meat the plates were almost empty. For these prices, the food and service was so-so. Go to the neighbours at the other side of the square if you don’t want to get ripped off. Double the amount of food/drinks for half the price.
Martijn R — Google review
Food and presentation are just so-so, service is so-so and price is considered expensive compared to other restaurants in Ainsa. We ordered their specialty lamb chop and another meat stew dish. Both are very gamey for our liking. The only plus point is the ambience due to its location.
OhCarol — Google review
Worst soup. Do not get the Shepard's soup. It's disgusting. Overpriced. Do not recommend. edit : I seem to have angered the owner with my opinion of their horrible soup. I am sure that my small opinion will not damage their "gran prestigio". (I am taking a star because they brought my nationality into this, which has no relevance) The rest of my friends did not mind their food, so if you want to enjoy a tourist trap, with high prices, this is the place for you

The beef dishes were of good quality. But the poultry was dry and disappointing. The “local cheese selection” was four pieces of the same cheese and reflects a general lack of inspiration. At these prices it cannot be recommended.

Wow! This place is incredible. Having enjoyed numerous tapas in Spain, we were thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food served here. Each bite was even better than the last. I believe they must have a master-class chef working wonders in the kitchen. I'd give it a 6 out of 5 if I could.

We couldn’t fault this place. We stayed in Aínsa for three nights and ate here every night with a new dish every night . Too many meal standouts, from the tacos, to the asparagus, to the tapas assortment and to the chicken. High quality ingredients, filling and tasty. The Waitress was lovely and was impressive watching her attend to so many patrons each of our evenings. The White House wine was excellent and the bar had a wonderful, wholesome atmosphere each evening we were there.

Located right in the Plaza Mayor with a terrace overlooking the river valley, though the terrace is only open for dinner and not for drinks. The place runs like a well oiled machine, waiters taking over each other's tables. Friendly, competent, nothing fancy but honest good local food and good local wine. Would gladly visit again.

We decided to try another tapas restaurant and this one is close to where we stay and located in the center of the old city. It was busy hour so staff were in a bit of panic mode. Inside also does not look that clean. However! The food is just amazing. We were surprised by the quality of local lamb grill, and other tapas like cuttlefish and local sausages are all very delicious. Fried squid rings are average. And they have the best fries we have tried so far. (From Netherlands where fries are quite good) Recommend!

Great sitting at the rear of the restaurant under the trees looking out over the valley and to the mountains. Service was good and food was ok. Try it and make your own mind up

Good food, very nice setting. However, the older waiter (probably owner), was very rude. He only came to us at the end to bring us the check, not even looking at us in the eyes. He just handed us the bill, showed us the card reader, and said « pin » to indicate we had to fill in the card pin. After that was done, he just went away, not looking us in the eyes for 1 second, not saying a word. I know you are busy, but you are still serving customers, and saying « thank you, good bye » does not seem like that big of an ask.

We went twice to this place during our holiday in Ainsa, great tapas and raciones and when you reserve you sit nicely under the trees at the back of tge restaurant.

So good we went back the next day! Definitely caters to tourists, but the food is fantastic, and great for the price. Impressively trilingual staff (English/French/Spanish). We loved the lamb shank bao, the mini burgers, and the grilled graus sausage.

Day 2

Keep it simple
For day 2, these 6 places should be enough to fill your day with something exciting to do in Ainsa. Start the day with Pozas de San Martín and make your way through the city to get to Las Bellostas. This should take about 8 hours of your day.

Pozas de San Martín

4.1
(551)
Pozas de San Martín is a natural gem featuring swimming pools formed by a river, making it an ideal spot for a refreshing dip, especially in early summer when the water levels are higher. Accessible via a trail around boulders, this medium difficulty hike offers the flexibility to tailor the experience to your preference. The picturesque setting with rocky foundations and limestone cascade makes it perfect for a leisurely picnic.
Beautiful, secluded natural pools for swimming and jumping! We spent a nice afternoon here with our kids. It was peaceful and fun.
Laura D — Google review
It's a nice short and easy hike in a very peaceful place. The pools are connected by little waterslides made by nature. The narrow road to get here is covered by asphalt, so it's relatively easy to get here
Maria D — Google review
Fantastic pools after a nice walk. Continue to the next part of the trail to the waterfalls about an hour further along.
Richard — Google review
Short hike , 10 min. Beautiful view but was very dry, cannot go swimming. Saw a baby cow on our path.
Robert C — Google review
Beautiful place with a limestone cascade. The stream is very small in summer months but still enough for a quick bath at the beginning of July.
Karel P — Google review
It's quite a drive towards this dead-end road. The path is easily accessible (even doe small children). Must be a really nice place in summer, we visited in spring. There are 1,5 and 2.5 hour trials, but after 30 minutes you already see the 'pozas' (little lakes). It's nice and if you have time, you should visit it. It's not a must-see in my opinion.
Guy S — Google review
Really nice place to visit for a picnic and swim, but unfortunately i visited it in August and it was nearly dry. Otherwise i can imagine with flowing waters it would a fantastic place to spend an afternoon. The rocky foundation and natural pools are really nice. The GPS will lead you directly there. When you stop the care at the side of the road you will need to hike for about 15 minutes, which is a very comfortable hike. Visit early spring to enjoy the full effect of higher water levels.

Catholic church
The Church of Santa Maria is located in Ainsa, a charming village in the province of Huesca, Aragon. This picturesque destination is rich in history and culture and offers stunning natural beauty. The church houses a remarkable 13th-century wooden sculpture of the seated Virgin with child, adding to its historical significance.

You should leave early, especially in summer, as the temperature rises sharply at midday. The church is completely abandoned and ruined, although its interior is surprisingly in good condition. Nearby is the old village of Morcat, which is now abandoned. A lovely place to visit. Nestled to the west of Plaza Mayor, Castillo Fortaleza de Ainsa is a remarkable historical site that has been recognized as an Asset of Cultural Interest and a Historic-Artistic Monument. This impressive fortress, originally established in the 11th century, served as a strategic stronghold against Muslim territories and was built upon ancient Arab foundations. The oldest section of this castle is the Torre del Homenaje, which stands proudly within its fortified walls.

(Translated by Google) We were on our second day of our motorcycle trip, following the Trans-Pyrenees Route, and we stopped in this beautiful and spectacular medieval town of Aínsa, located in the Huesca Pyrenees, in the Sobrarbe region, south of the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park. It sits on a promontory above the confluence of the Cinca and Ara rivers and is made up primarily of two almost parallel streets, Calle Mayor and Calle Santa Cruz, which flow into the Plaza Mayor. Further west, the Castle appears, extending across a wide esplanade. This Castle-Fortress of Aínsa is located at the western end of the Plaza Mayor. Its oldest part is the Torre del Homenaje (Keep Tower), built on Moorish remains in the 11th century and surrounded by a walled enclosure where the town's inhabitants took refuge in case of danger. The original enclosure underwent various changes over the centuries, and the fortress's current appearance reflects the fortification policy of Philip II (17th century) and follows the same principles as the Citadel of Jaca. To build it, some 70 houses on the western edge of the town were demolished. Inside, the walls are reinforced by high arcades with semicircular arches, clearly Romanesque in style despite dating from the 17th century, whose function is to support the Paseo (or Coastal Path). The only gate leads to the Plaza Mayor, which until not many years ago was preceded by a moat, now filled in, and crossed by a drawbridge. A visit to this castle is highly recommended, as is the spectacular medieval town of Aínsa, which is also deservedly included on the List of the Most Beautiful Villages in Spain.

La Tarara de Guaso is a hidden gem that offers an unforgettable five-course vegetarian tasting experience, crafted with seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Your host, Maite, brings her passion for food to life as she guides you through each dish, sharing insights about the flavors and the region's culinary heritage. The absence of a fixed menu means every visit promises something unique based on what local farmers provide.
Random vegetarian restaurant in the mountains. So so so happy we found this place! What a hidden gem. The staff were delightful and welcoming to everyone. The food was delicious and clearly made with love. This place deserves your business!

A real gem! We found this place while looking to have lunch in the area and were immediately delighted by the kind owner who is passionate about the food and mission of her restaurant. Food is offered as a tasting menu using local and seasonal ingredients with the owner explaining each course in depth. Each course was made-then and so flavorful and delicious. In addition, the owner is a lovely host who adds a personal touch in her chats and has such an interesting background. Situated in a beautiful village with great views, it’s a meal you won’t regret! We will definitely return.

Just wow!! In sleepy, remote, picturesque Guaso you find one of the most vibrant, progressive, and quintessentially unique places out there with La Tarara! To call it a restaurant is to sell it short, it's a phenomenon! Amazingly crafted vegetarian and vegan food, that is sophisticated, delicious and unpretentious. Moreover, the staff are absolutely lovely - this is a thoroughgoing community and cultural project, hence everyone cares profoundly about what they are doing. The produce is 100%locally sourced, and the proprietors' philosophy is to work in step and sustainably with the seasonal agricultural bounty. Consequently, the offerings depend on the time of year, meaning you'll want to visit a few times! The restaurant is simultaneously a live music events venue and so it seamlessly mixes good food, good wine, great spirit, and wonderful music. The band's they have are absolutely brilliant. I witnessed an excellent Jazz evening, followed by a glowing Cumbia band the following day (yes! I had to go back!!) You less 'attend' La Tarara, than you do 'experience' it. It is Sui Generis. What they do here is very special, and they do it in one of the most beautiful settings you can imagine. It's a life affirming project - the whole thing is a labour of love, and a passionate expression of what I consider important: good food, good community, and putting people before 'brand'. It's absolutely refreshing to see and you'll absolutely love it! I did! TIPS: Always book ahead as La Tarara has a minimum waste philosophy - you'll be glad you did!!

A Hidden gem in the area. An experience on its own. The owner greet us with smile and warmth. She explained us about her projekt of sustainability with suppotting the local produce of the season. One after the other came the food and they were amazing. You can tell that this restaurant tried a ray of flavors and textures thoughtfully to please us. The Plating, the taste, the colours were also beautifully combined. The Photos does not do Justice to them. It is a definite recommendation. Would revisit on another season just to try the different produces.

What a pleasant surprise to find this gem during our stay in Boltaña. Hands down the best dinner during this trip to Spain and that’s despite not being a vegetarian. From the 5 course dinner only did not like one dish and not because it was bad, but one of the ingredients/spices was not to my taste. The chickpeas and salad taco were amazing though. The vegetarian sushi was a display of imagination and flavor. The dessert was a rich chocolate cake. Loved it and the owner was so passionate about everything. More of this type of restaurants please. Note, usually you need to reserve a table. We were just lucky that the owner could squeeze us in. Probably not a place for smaller kids, even though the owner tries to accommodate with veggie burgers or pasta pomodoro.

Do not go here for a la carte menu to choose from, meat or without reservation. Go here if you want amazing food with surprising tastes, they offer this very well! They do not throw away anything and therefore you need to reserve in advance, they prepare exactly what they need and have a fixed menu but can adjust to special needs. I am not a vegetarian, but have not missed the meat for a moment. When going with kids, they have special options which our kids loved but make sure to note if your kids would like a dessert as they do not initially consider. They fixed it if they can, but might be short.. we loved the atmosphere with good view, some people might found it simple or alternative

Casa Alfonso is a superbly located establishment in the charming old town. The restaurant offers excellent steaks and delicious 12 Lunas rose wine. While arriving at 8.30pm, customers were asked to order desserts alongside their main course due to the kitchen closing soon. However, it was amusing to witness the restaurant continue attracting customers and taking food orders well beyond an hour later. Nonetheless, Casa Alfonso boasts a delightful atmosphere and provides good service.

We went for dinner here, the food of the menu was really good. Personal very friendly although it started with slow service and they forgot a few times some extras we asked for. I guess it was a very busy evening, later we got better attention. It is one of the more expensive restaurants in Ainsa and not that much better then others, although it was good quality, but 31.50 for cheapest menu is not cheap for a little mountain village, not even in Madrid i pay this.

We took the €27 menu (3 courses plus a small 'amuse bouche') & couple of drinks and were not disappointed. Of course this is a beautiful setting and many of the eateries in Ainsa are 'expensive' by Spanish village standards but... wow... very much worth it in this case.

Price quality wasn‘t right at all. The food looked good, but it wasn‘t good at all. Chewy meat.. don‘t come here, a few years ago it was good, now it has become a tourist trap though.. We had the Steak Menu, 1kg meat on the Menu in the end it was a T-Bone steak, where the Bone occupied half of the weight. The self cooking was fun at first, altough the constant smoke forced us to move around a lot, which was quite annoying and laughable with time. Not a great experience… the beer was good at least.

Restaurante Asador Avenida is a popular local spot in Boltana where you can experience the authentic neighborhood atmosphere. The outdoor terrace is a hub for locals enjoying drinks and socializing. Despite its unassuming ambiance, the restaurant offers generous portions at reasonable prices and provides friendly service. Visitors praise the quality of dishes such as cordero, solomillo, burgers, and pizza. The restaurant's fantastic patio area, shaded by trees and umbrellas, adds to its charm.

Incredibly low-price ‘super-burgers’ 🍔 with good quality. Convenient opening hours, especially for tourists. Were lucky to find this open restaurant in the village on our way back from Ordesa valley

Advertised as a Pizzeria on the awning at the front of the restaurant. Disappointed to find out it wasn't and ended up having food we didn't really want - which was ok though.

Great local restaurant in Boltana. You can see folks from the neighborhood grabbing drinks and playing cards on the outdoor terrace and neighbors socializing. We visitwd twice and had the cordero, solomillo, burger, and pizza. The place is not fancy at all but the portion are solid for the price and the service was friendly and nice.

Day 3

Northeast side of town
For day 3, we recommend exploring the northeast side side of town. Start the day off with Iglesia de Santa María, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Aguas Blancas. All together, your day would be filled with about 6 hours of non-stop fun.

I highly suggest taking a leisurely walk in this area and savoring a beverage while admiring this location. It is a stunning place that exudes an ancient ambiance. The Iglesia de Santa María, a Catholic church, is worth exploring.
Visit the bell tower, it's the best part. Entry 2 for the church +2 for the tower.

I recommend this visit, but it is difficult to access for people with reduced mobility, which in the most acute cases can prevent a visit to this outreach center. We got information from a very nice lady in the office. She helped us by giving advise about what we would like and what was feasible with an 8 year old. She also helped us with information about the region and some nice tips for the best ice cream, good restaurants and beautiful views! We booked 2 trips: horseriding and canyoning. The man who guided us on our canyoning trip was also very nice and friendly. We did not only have had a nice trip but also got information about the surroundings, fauna an flora. Our host in Ainsa spoke English and in addition to wise recommendations for the best river activities for our family (age 50, 19, 14), also offered recommendations around the town and beyond. After arriving late (there are multiple companies in the area, we went to the wrong one!) Aguas Blancas was gracious and made us feel at home. We are inexperienced and yet kayaked through some exciting waters. Our guide Able (?) was warm, spoke decent English, and made us feel safe even as we kept screwing up! He checked in often and was positive and supportive throughout. Our only complaint is that he was gone by the time we changed from our gear...I owe him a beer!

(Translated by Google) Overall, it was fine. The downside is that the room, which was fine, had a portable air conditioner, and since the vent was in the window, it was blocked and couldn't be closed. This meant that in the morning, you had all the light in the world without curtains. It could also be a problem if the neighbor across the street saw you at some point when they passed by the window, which might not be something you'd want. It has a kitchen and a terrace with great views, where breakfast tasted even better. We ate at the restaurant, and the food was delicious. The problem was that I ordered a secret, and it was just a fatty steak, no meat, so they left it whole. When the guy asked if we didn't like it, we told him the problem, and he apologized and invited us to dessert, at least they had that kindness. Despite this problem, I would recommend eating there. Visited this restaurant, located in the charming villa of Aínsa in Huesca, just before they were awarded their first Michelin star. Very well deserved. What an amazing experience we had at Callizo! Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and partly speaks several languages, the setting and the view are amazing and their approach to enter in very small groups, makes it feel very personal. We loved the regional inspiration of the dishes and all the dishes were delicious and surprising, as were the wines, that were well presented. Having dinner at Callizo is an experience you won't forget! Go here, don't read too much ahead but let the staff surprise you and make sure you're in time, to enjoy the whole experience fullest. Phenomenal experience. Very different dining journey, (don't want to give too much away as it's a great surprise) All the waiting staff were superb especially the wine sommelier William who was fabulous; super knowledgeable, fun and engaging. An unforgettable evening! Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful experience at the restaurant and we highly recommend you to go. We chose the Piedra Menu and we were surprised for how many delicious plates we had the chance to try. Is is not just a dinner it is a unique experience as every plate says a story. The view from the restaurant it is breathtaking , unfortunately it got dark pretty quickly and we were not able to enjoy it for long. The only constructive feedback we have is that the bread was delicious but left a lot of crumbs which got more and more on the table and it was a little bit disturbing ( if the table could be cleaned during the different set up when necessary I think it will make a difference . Also it made me a bit sad as I mentioned when I made the booking that it was a special occasion and I wanted to surprise my wife , I also reminded to the manager in charge and unfortunately nothing happened … Overall I can only say that everything else was perfect and I think it is an experience to be lived .

Amazing experience at restaurante callizo! It was a full day experience: from the start at the bodega to the journey through Pyrenees on a plate the experience was more than your average high quality restaurant! Get to know Aragon’s culture, the chefs and be inspired by such an interesting combination of flavours! We had the piedra menu and the plates just didn’t stop coming! The staff timed everything perfectly and at the end we had the opportunity to enjoy the restaurants terrace, which for us was a lovely highlight! Highly recommend!

Tapas bar
Nestled in the charming heart of Ainsa, Bar Tapas L'alfil is a delightful culinary gem that perfectly captures the essence of this historic town. Just steps away from the main church, its picturesque location sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The menu boasts a variety of mouthwatering dishes, including traditional favorites like canelones with mushrooms and Cazoleta dAinsa—a hearty mix of longaniza, potatoes, mushrooms, and peppers.
We came here for the nice small alley to eat with romantic lightning. Thats also what we got. The service was quick and good. The food was amazing and tasted fresh! Definity a recommandation to eat👍

We had the Alfil salad and the rabo de toro. Both outstanding, especially the rabo.

I was craving some good tapas whilst in Ainsa. This place definitely satisfied my cravings. The stew wasn’t to my taste but I really enjoyed all the other dishes. The basque cheesecake was one of the best I have had.

One of my favorite restaurants of our entire road trip. Truly exceptional food. Every dish we got was a flavor bomb. We tried the albóndigas, gyoza and croquetas, and everything was absolutely delicious. Service was friendly and fast and the restaurant outside seating is gorgeous!

📍Location: this place is conveniently located next to the main church and right in the heart of the old town of Ainsa. It’s a beautiful place. 😋 Taste: we ordered a menu: 1 portion of canelones with mushrooms, 1 portion of the Cazoleta d’Ainsa - it is a very typical meal here (longaniza, potatoes, mushrooms, pepper), 1 cheesecake and 1 vermouth. Others ordered a salad 🥗, entrecôte, ice cream 🍦. Honestly, everything was very well done. And it was so tasty. 10/10 to their chef. 💸 Price: we paid €18 per menu. At the beginning we thought it was expensive but more places we checked more we realized that the price is really okay compared to others (at some places they asked up to €30 per menu. ✨ Service: the staff was extremely friendly. They brought food fast. The restaurant and its territory was clean and pretty. Overall, it’s a nice place to visit. We were very happy to be there ⚡️😊 HEY! Let us know what you think! For us, it was not worth the price. The tomato bread was tasty but the bread was limp, the croquettes lacked flavour. The calamari was good.

Room is very borring, no air-condition. Bathroomshower broken. Electric installations very old and we had to unpluck the television to be able to use the fan. (Very difficult to pluck in) Found black curly short hair in the bed when we entered (I'm blond) We asked for room with double bed plus an extra bed. We got a room with 2 beds each 120, so slept with my daughter and my husband got the otheron3 for himself, as we would not be able to sleep comfortably together. Madras quite good. Price too high for a room like this. Paid less in many other places for better room including breakfast (not included here) My daughter had a chocolate muffin (bake off) that was very dry, so probably from the day before. Had a croissant that was served on a plate with a dry dead fly 🪰, so asked to have another plate. They pretended to change the plate and just whiped the fly of, but half of it remained on the plate. We all finished our breakfast before the eggs and bacon my husband ordered arrived, although there's 6 people working and only was 3 tables including us and the others already had their food. We all had orange juice. The juice was good, but very small glasses.

La Tea offers a variety of dining options, including pizza at La Creperia and tapas with beer at the Sie7e bar. Visitors can enjoy set menus at local restaurants for around 15 euros, which often include a bottle of wine. Reviews mention the delicious ice cream desserts, excellent coffee, and superb pizzas without meat. Despite some negative feedback online, many visitors praise the friendly service and tasty food in this beautiful location.
Had chicken wings to start. Two different salads and desserts, coffee, beer and wine. Could not fault anything. Food very good, friendly staff.lovely location.

All staff very short tempered. They were quite busy but I don't believe this to be an excuse. First waiter was visibly asked that I asked for more milk with a coffee. Second waiter said something rude in Spanish when she realised that I didn't have a menu. When I paid I said gracias but the guy didn't respond.

Unfortunately it seems that La Tea has let things slip over the last year. I've been gets 20+ times, but live away from the area and just had my first visit this year. The salad was small and just not as tasty as it used to be. The pizza was underdone, had little topping and was dry. The 2 of us we were prevented from sitting at a table for 4 even though we were the only ones there. It's still a reasonable price for the food, but we won't be back.

Ok, firstly I fully accept responsibility for choosing to go to a pizza restaurant in Ainsa. What was I thinking? Anyway, stunning sunny afternoon location to watch the world go by. Beer was cold and happily received. Pizza was below average, but after 24 hours of airline food I was grateful for it. Oh, the free olives were good too.

Nowhere near as good as Broto or Biescas, both which I have been to several times, so I was looking forward to it, but ended up disappointed due to the terribly slow service. The staff didn't even smile, it seemed just too much bother for them to serve us. Next time we'll go to another restaurant instead.

Restaurante Casa Falceto is a medieval-style mountain restaurant with a capacity for 40 diners, highly recommended by the locals of Ainsa. Its exquisite cuisine and magnificent views from the sought-after terrace make it a popular spot, especially in summer. The location is described as superb, offering a comfortable ambiance in a large garden under beautiful trees and cooled down by the breeze. Visitors praise the incredible food and recommend trying some of their best wines.
Its a zero kilometer restaurant. Food was absolutely delicious and they have a good selection of wine. Only missing thing was a michelin star sign on the wall.

This is a TRUE gem. It's worth the drive (90 mins in our case). The location is SUPERB (after lunch, keep driving into the land finger until you reach the dam). The ambiance is comfortable, you will have a nice meal in a large garden under beautiful trees and cooled down by the breeze. The food was magnificent. It's truly incredible they reach this level of ingridients and execution so far away from the beaten path. Also make sure you try some of their best wines. I loved the one I had so much (Zinca bin de ric) I unsuccessfully tried to buy a couple of bottles to go. Thankfully, they guided me toward the wine store that supplies them. If you find yourself in Huesca city or in Aínsa, this is a must.

I was very lucky to celebrate my 40th here today. I didn't have much hope of finding anywhere this nice to eat off-season on a Thursday afternoon, especially with 2 dogs in tow, and I honestly couldn't have wished for a better experience. We speak French and English but no Spanish and the waiting staff, aside from being extremely attentive and welcoming, also kindly made an effort to speak to us in English which was much appreciated! The old mountain village location is perfect with stunning views over the water from the grassy terrace garden. The garden is well shaded with parasols and not too crowded and even has the odd feline visitor! The restaurant is good for a formal dinner and less formal drop-ins too. The quality of the food was absolutely superb, beautifully cooked and plated, generously portioned and exceptional value for money. Thank you to Casa Falceto for a very memorable birthday lunch and I would definately come again!
