Real Santuario de Nuestra Señora de las Nieves is a 17th-century sanctuary located just outside Santa Cruz. The relatively easy 2km hike to the sanctuary offers stunning views of the city and the sea. Inside, visitors can admire the fabulously ornate interior, including a wooden Mudejar-carved ceiling, numerous sculptures, and sparkling crystal chandeliers. The main attraction is the captivating 14th-century sculpture of the Virgin Mary surrounded by a glittering altar.
Impressive old church from where our lady of the snows is carried to Santa Cruz de La Palma in ceremony every 5 years. Accessible on number 33 bus route. Lovely shaded square with cafe/restaurant.

It's a nice intimate church

Nice little church in excellent condition, located at a pleasant spot, good bar/restaurant close by. Absolute stunning walk through barranco de la madera 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞

Impressive. Take some time to appreciate the interior. Don't miss the nice bar out on the plaza.

Listen. When you come to La Palma you have to visit, at the very least 5 places; The astrophysics center in Roque The Chipi Chipi restaurant The beaches Some hiking And then visit Las Nieves. Perfect place to find some peace and guidance.

Beautiful church over 500 years old. Gorgeous fresco painted above the alter. There is a statue of the Virgin Mary from the late 14th century inside the church.

Maroparque Isla de La Palma, also known as Fundación Maroparque, is a hillside zoo located just outside Santa Cruz de La Palma in Brena Alta. The park is home to a diverse range of exotic animals, including porcupines, monkeys, snakes, albino kangaroos, various bird species like parrots and peacocks, and even crocodiles.
Small, but a very different kind of animal park. All animals are rescued and the park itself is a non-profit organisation so you know that the ticket money goes to a good cause. What was surprising the most is how friendly the animals are, especially the birds. They fly close to you when you enter the walk-in cages. They expect food ofcourse, but that never happened in any other zoos i visited.
Paulius R — Google review
Fantastic place! It’s definitely worth visiting! Incredible and friendly animals! Very nice staff as well!
Zsuzsanna M — Google review
I loved my trip to Maroparque. I came with all the family and both the kids and us adults had the greatest time! The animals are very well cared for and we were even given the opportunity to feed them. The workers of the park are great. If you are in La Palma, I 100% recommend taking the time to visit Maroparque ❤️
Rita K — Google review
The parrots here made our day. Very thoughtful of this guys to take care of animals that are in the need. It take 1h30 min to see all the animals and spend some time with the birds. They do love to eat peanuts and seeds.
Sebulba — Google review
The place looks like it has known better days and that goes for the animals too. Some of them look stressed. I do like a good zoo that supports animals that are close to extinction and keep everything up to date. We had our doubts about this one.
Erik S — Google review
Great place to spend a few hours, as it's a relatively small zoo. Buy the feed for the animals, although pay attention to which animals have which food type.
Luke G — Google review
Unique and incredible experience! You get to feed the animals the different types of feed they like, and the variety is incredible. You’re even able to walk through the enclosures with them. Watch out though, the monkeys and parrots are very very friendly 😂😂🤩
Anastasia M — Google review
We found this small rescue „zoo“ very authentic. Box of snacks is 2€, buy more peanuts 🥜 boxes as they are the most favorite from all the birds, we didn’t know that and our one box was empty was too soon) also was a fun experience to „communicate“ with the birds, although a bit scary 😅

It features a 1,230-meter stretch of black sand and offers various amenities for visitors. These include a children's playground equipped for different age groups, designated areas for playing volleyball, and facilities such as changing rooms, showers, and accessibility options for people with reduced mobility. A lifeguard ensures year-round safety for swimmers.
I loved the area it was beautiful! The beach has public restrooms as well.

What a splendid beach. Love black sands. Lovely and scenic. Plenty of spots to lie down, not many sun loungers and umbrellas that I noticed, so if planning on lying around, I'd bring your own.

Beautiful black sand beach, very clean as well. when the sea is nice you can take a swim. also lifeguards are there during the day and there is a wooden walkway on the beach for more accessibility.

🏖️ Playa de Santa Cruz de La Palma is an artificial urban beach in the capital of La Palma, Canary Islands, renowned for its striking black volcanic sand and family friendly amenities. Here’s a detailed overview based on the search results: Stretches 1,200–1,230 meters along Avenida Marítima in Santa Cruz de La Palma, with a width of 50 meters. It was inaugurated in April 2017 , replacing the historic pebble beach Caleta del Varadero . Origin : Created to restore the city’s direct access to the Atlantic Ocean, lost since 1949 due to promenade construction. Sand & Water : Composed of fine dark volcanic sand with calm swimming conditions , protected from strong currents. Facilities : Showers, toilets, sunshade/lounger rentals, and cleaning services. Sports areas for beach volleyball, football, and water activities like windsurfing/kitesurfing. Children’s play area and easy access for families. Ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and strolls along the palm lined promenade with ocean views. Cultural Sites : Adjacent to landmarks like: Castillo de Santa Catalina (16th century fort). Colorful colonial houses with traditional wooden balconies ( Balcones de la Avenida Marítima ). Naval Museum (a replica of Columbus’s ship Santa María ). Festivals : Hosts events during Bajada de la Virgen de las Nieves (every 5 years) and Carnival. Getting There : Easily reachable on foot from the city center. Public buses connect to other areas like Los Llanos and the airport (7 km south). Parking : Available near the city center, with the beach a short walk away. Safety : Note potential strong currents despite generally calm waters. Best Time to Visit : Year-round mild climate; winter averages 20°C, summer peaks at 27°C. Food : Try Canarian specialties like papas arrugadas con mojo (wrinkled potatoes with sauce) or barraquito (coffee liqueur drink) at promenade cafés. Stay : Options range from seafront hotels (e.g., Hotel Holiday Time ) to boutique stays like Hotel San Telmo . 💎 In summary , Playa de Santa Cruz blends modern amenities with natural and cultural charm, making it a relaxed urban oasis perfect for families and culture enthusiasts.

Nice little black lava sand beach in the middle of town, close to cafes and restaurants. There is a shower and dressers and very few people (at least in January at 25 Celsius). Very convenient.
Peter A — Google review
Beautiful, clean beach. We were here in late December and the water felt ok to go for a swim! We even witnessed several others not only braving the dip, but staying in the water for 10+ minutes
Anastasia M — Google review
The beach has black fine sand and the waves are sometimes quite big, and just for info, I am not a fan for big strong waves.. Othen than that, perfect spot to relax and sunbathing.

Nice Fort on a hill. Awesome views of area. Bit tricky to get to by car, walking wise it's less time but you have a long upgrade to the top. Overall, worth it for the views.
David V — Google review
I would say it's a hidden gem of the city because you don't usually see it promoted as much as it should. It's always freshly painted in pure, nuclear white, making the light of the ocean reflect incredibly on the entire place. Definitely recommend for a quick hike and adventure.
Don B — Google review
Visited here last summer when on a cruise, this was on the second trip in La Palma. If you are able to walk the hill, it is extremely worth it and offers some amazing photo opportunities. About 30 or 45 minutes will be more than enough to spend here.
Henry B — Google review
Great views of the city and beautiful blue sea. Walls are very white so i guess its recently painted
Pedro W — Google review
Nice historical Fort on a hill. Awesome views of area. Bit tricky to get to by car, if going by car head to the very end of the beach and turn left just past the crossing lights. be careful as the turn as the turn is just after this. You enter a one way system and if you can’t park directly there just follow the road round and there is parking on the hill. To be fair you can walk to this by walking along the beach of the main high street you have a reasonable walk to the top. Overall, worth it for the views. Cheers

El Cafe de Don Manuel, run by the renowned barista Rayco Rodriguez, is a must-visit spot for coffee enthusiasts on the island of La Palma. Nestled in a charming courtyard just off Calle O'Daly, this cafe offers some of the finest brews in Spain. One of their specialties is the signature barraquito, a delightful concoction of coffee with milk, cinnamon, and citrus undertones. Despite limited seating, the experience is well worth any potential wait.
The friendly staff served us delicious croissant chicken salad sandwiches and strawberry Jell-O cheesecake

Friendly staff. Great coffee and great cake in an outstanding building. The list of coffee was small, but very nice. Slight hiccup that we ordered 2 cappuccinos and 1 cortado but got 1 cappuchino and 2 cortado. But we didn't mind that much. Building it is inside is absolutely stunning and the lotus biscoff cheesecake was some of the best I had. 👌
Jake — Google review
Does I’m telling you that place is really good if you are fun of good coffee and cheesecakes! What is the most important is that barista and the waiter work really fast! That makes the whole difference because they always have tables to seat even though that place is mostly busy. Good atmosphere super fresh roasted coffee and try the plain cheese cheesecake. It is just awesome and melting in your mouth.
Timothy — Google review
I could say it's the best coffee on the island. The place is very nice. Toast/sandwiches are amazing! As a point of improvement, they could include more vegetarian options
Jairolo L — Google review
Good coffee, cozy place and nice staff. Plenty of savory and sweet food choices. The only thing I miss are some vegan options 😉
Ines J — Google review
Can’t actually review the food since we didn’t order anything, but the coffee was excellent & the sandwiches & cakes looked amazing & homemade.
Sara S — Google review
One of the most interesting cafes in La Palma. They have speciality coffee and you have an option to choose coffee beans. The coffee was excellent and it was a pleasure to drink it in such a nice place. Their sandwiches are fresh and really tasty. I will definitely come back when I visit La Palma again.
Michael D — Google review
It's like a little Oasis. The food and coffee were great. My frappe and chocolate cake came to €7.60. I would have given five stars for service, but no one checked to fill up the soap dispenser in the toilet. You will need the key, which had a small bell attached to it.

Nestled in the heart of Santa Cruz de la Palma, Casa Tey is a hidden gem that might be tricky to find if you’re not in the know. This charming restaurant is housed within a beautifully preserved noble house dating back to 1718, offering an inviting atmosphere both inside and out. The interior boasts delightful decor that reflects its rich history, while the outdoor seating provides a lovely spot for enjoying meals al fresco.
Lovely bar, well decorated inside. The food and service was pretty good. Staff are funny friendly and polite. Speaks a few languages so was very impressed. Enjoyed a nice toasted sandwich and a nice coffee. Would definitely recommend

Really good tapas. We had the garlic mushrooms, garlic potatoes and chicken strips.
Allan P — Google review
Thrilled to have sampled this lovely place! With the really good excuse that we were looking for a place to have breakfast, we spotted that Casa Tey offered what looked like a very interesting selection and at low cost. When our choice of Yogurt with fruit, goat's cheese and tomato baguette, fruit juice and coffee were brought to us, we were amazed at the style and quality! In addition to this, it's a lovely old building built in 1718 and you can eat inside or out. I'm pretty sure that we'll be heading back there as soon as possible to try a lunch!!
Ann G — Google review
Had a wonderful start to the day with a simple but fresh breakfast. Really interesting restaurant built into the building. Great service as well!
Landon J — Google review
Good Canarian selection. Have returned for their cheap lunch bocadillos and other dishes. Recommend this place for a drink, especially in the evening. Inside mini-courtyard has great atmosphere, but the main outdoor seating is also nice
Tom D — Google review
Great food with amazing drinks. Really friendly environment with kind staff. You will love this place especially when you taste their food and see the prices. Reeeally cheap!!! Highly recommended.
Konstantinos S — Google review
Go inside to eat and drink, an unexpected early 18th century interior. Food is good. They serve locally brewed craft bottled beer. Friendly staff. The sliding door to the men's WC is very hard open.

Normal coffee, mediocre pastries and good atmosphere that makes you wonder how are they even open with better service, coffee and munchies. By the way, check your change, they like to self tip themselves.
