The Ancient Theatre at the Asclepieion of Epidaurus, built in 340 BCE, is renowned for its exceptional acoustics. The site has a rich history dating back to the 2nd millennium BC, with the Sanctuary of Asclepius reaching its peak in the 4th century BC as a prominent healing center. Constructed from limestone, this well-preserved Classical Greek structure can seat up to 14,000 people and hosts performances during the annual Hellenic Festival.
The oldest, the most beautiful theatre in the world. Magical place. Acoustic is on max pro level. It's si good to be here. Beautiful nature is all around the theatre. Don't miss this place.
Aleksandra M — Google review
I had been here for a show at night, so wasn't sure what to expect in the daylight. But i was pleasantly surprised. The acoustics are amazing, your voice sounds amplified when you speak in the centre of the stage. It is almost unnerving. I would recommend a visit.
Anastasis K — Google review
Amazing condition with only basic restoration. To be able to climb tge steps & sit on the ancient seats is such a treasure. Would be fantastic to attend a show there. A small museum was also quite interesting. The walk through the remaining archaeological site was sadly cut short due to rainy weather.
Peter E — Google review
This is a place to visit indeed, a massive and well-restored ancient theatre overlooking the mountains. We have seen other theaters before, in Thermessos, Aspendos and Phaselis in Antalya, this one is far bigger though. The place has great acoustics and definitely worth a visit, there’s also a museum with findings and inscriptions from the past and a large archeological site.
Denis A — Google review
Incredible site to see! Highly recommend. If you sing, this is a chance to get heard by strangers for an impromptu performance with amazing acoustics and likely applause from visitors. We got lucky and got to hear a short casual performance.
Angie D — Google review
An absolutely incredible site and a must-see in Greece! The ancient theatre of Epidaurus is astonishingly well preserved and famous for its perfect acoustics — you can literally hear someone speaking or dropping a coin from the stage, even from the top rows. The setting among green hills adds to the magic of the place. The surrounding archaeological site and small museum are also worth a visit. It’s an easy and peaceful walk around. Truly one of the highlights of any trip to the Peloponnese!
Sothy U — Google review
It’s impressive to see the theatre, views from the top are wonderful. We did also catch a girl briefly singing & the acoustics are just amazing. The rest of it is just ruins! Very expensive at €20 each - it’s not worth that. No audio guide, not even a restaurant open! No discount for English seniors either, EU only! Another brexit bonus. It was dog friendly - though not allowed in the actual theatre.
Heather S — Google review
Just one of the most beautiful antique theatre in the world, actually maybe Number One. An incredible place, a perfect acoustic creation in the middle of a wild nature. A definitely don’t miss site of Greece !!

The Archaeological Site of the Sanctuary of Asclepius at Epidaurus was a revered healing center dedicated to the god of medicine, Asclepius. The site's well-preserved theater continues to host Classical Greek plays, offering visitors a glimpse into its ancient past. Today, it remains famous for its outdoor amphitheater and is a must-visit for history enthusiasts.
Very large archeological site to see in addition to the amphitheater. We were surprised by the sport stadium, since the games area was still very flat and did not have any ruins or detritus, and some of the spectator stands were still in position. Overall, very interesting.
John T — Google review
We didn’t originally plan to see this archaeological site, but it ended up being one of my favourites. While the theatre was jammed full of tour groups, the rest of the site was wide open and it felt like we had it mostly to ourselves. The informational panels really painted the pictures of the history of the site, and we were so glad we got to experience it. Spent about 1 hour wandering, not including the theatre.
Alyssa B — Google review
The most important holistic healing sanctuary of the Ancient Greek world. Pilgrims flocked from all over the shop to visit this sacred precinct and would have enjoyed a wide variety of treatments that included: sacred theatre for the purpose of katharsis (the purging of negative emotions), balancing of the humors, herbal medicines, surgery (with anesthesia), divine healing dreams, bathing in and drinking of sacred mountain spring water, intellectual stimulation in libraries, exercise, massage, adoration of the gods, diet regimens, one-on-one consultations with healer priests or a healer seer/dream interpreter (iatromantis), communion and ritual feasting with the gods, and a LOT more. They don’t make em like that no more (but they should!)
Sarah E — Google review
Nice place to visit with big Amphitheater, a Stadium, and old city ruins. Small museum with nice presentation.
Patrice F — Google review
Large site. We only had time to visit the stadium, but it was clean and laid out well.
Carl P — Google review
Absolutely stunning. And since I was in rather low season, there were not so many guests that allowed to see the place in all its glory.
Miłosz K — Google review
Amazing place! The theatre stands out, but there are other ancient ruins as well and beautiful nature all around. 12€ admission seems a bit too much given that they didn't really do anything apart from building the fence.
Dragutin C — Google review
Sitting in theater where Greeks have been sitting for 4000 years very cool! Much more to also see here.

The Temple of Asclepius at Epidaurus is a remarkable archaeological site that offers a glimpse into one of the most complete Greek sanctuaries from ancient times. The ruins include the foundations of a hospital where worshippers sought healing from the divine powers of Asclepius. Visitors can also explore the well-preserved theatre known for its exceptional acoustics and harmonious architecture. Although less imposing than other ancient sites, the sanctuary's foundations invite visitors to imagine its former grandeur.
4cent BC classical Greece site. Very large area and hugely touristic. Very famous. The theatre is especially good because of its size and because it is remarkably intact considering its age. I would consider going to lesser sites also though to get a feeling for the history. Epidavrous has become a bit too overrun. It’s hard to get a feeling for the place unless you see it off season.
Jeremy K — Google review
20 euros to see epidaurus was robbery. Small bare museum, terrible curatorship of the whole site with bare details just specifying archeological details with barely anything about the lives of the people that once inhabited it. The theatre is nice but having seen Taormina and syracuse in sicily I would say put those 20 euros towards a trip to sicily cuz this is not worth the money.
Melissa R — Google review
Visiting this site off season, helps you to enjoy the sanctuary of Asklepion and all its history….during crowded season, you are concentrated too much only on the theatre. Museum is a bit too small, but the site is well preserved and with good and clear explanations. A lot of parking
Manucsn — Google review

Edmark P — Google review
Great theatre but the remains are sparse, doing it part of a tour so couldn’t say about the price of the pass to get in. The drive getting there is nice.

Andre A — Google review
A healing center of the Ancient Greece. It is a very large and green area with a lovely museum that has remnants of glorious buildings, doctors tools and records of the greatful patients. The Stadium is of great interest. The theater is a gem, best preserved and with incredible acoustic.
Elizaveta R — Google review
The Asklepion is a Classical Greek sanctuary for those seeking healing. The site is in a beautiful area with trees and scenery that invokes a feeling if peace and perhaps healing. It is easy to envision travelers making their way here seeking cures, perhaps even miracles. The theater alone is with the visit for anyone looking for a good classical site photo op though.

Nestled in the heart of Argolis, Peloponnese, Grill Smyrlis is a hidden gem that I stumbled upon quite by chance during my Greek adventure. Although I initially aimed to savor traditional Greek cuisine and had already indulged in various dishes, the appetizers at this grill house were so enticing that they left a lasting impression.
Delicious food, cooked to perfection. The people were awesome. Best service we had in all of Greece. It seemed they were really happy to have us there.
Logan L — Google review
Simply the best grill house — not just in the region (Argolis, Peloponnese), but in all of Greece. A family business with a long tradition that has even traveled the world before returning home. The people are lovely and deeply passionate about their roots and cuisine. They use fresh, natural products from their own property. I’ve known them for quite a while and make a point of stopping by a few times each summer. I always enjoy the lamb chops/païdakia (my favorite), the olives, and other traditional dishes — not to mention their refreshing white wine, best enjoyed under the trees on the terrace. It’s truly the best place for grilled meat, and Jimmy is a fantastic chef, carrying on the legacy of his father, Christos, who passed away a few years ago. Give it a try — you’ll be back for more!
Liviu D — Google review
A fantastic grill spot. A bit out of the way but worth the visit. Very helpful and friendly staff. We ordered the tzatziki, Greek salad and mixed grill for 4. Would really recommend this so you can try a little bit of everything.

We found this place completely be accident. We didn’t have any BBQ because we were in Greece and wanted to experience Greek food. We had already eaten so; we only had the appetizers. There was extremely poor cell phone reception when we were there so, I was not sure if I could find it on my google maps when I got home. But I felt obligated to find it on my maps and give it a review because it was the best food, I had eaten the entire 2 ½ week vacation of exploring the mainland and 4 different islands. It was the best Cheese Pie I have ever eaten. Their Greek salad was wonderful, and my French wife loved the fried Zucchini. PS. I almost forgot about the homemade Garlic Bread - Delicious 🤗

The Stadium at the Asclepieion of Epidaurus is a must-visit archaeological site in Greece. It's highly recommended for travelers, offering a remarkable open theater with astounding acoustics that eliminate the need for microphones during performances. The well-preserved stadium allows visitors to sit and experience its impressive acoustic quality. Surrounded by other ancient structures, this site offers a walk through history and an opportunity to admire its gorgeous and well-maintained grounds.
Had the chance to listen to a few impromptu performances from visitors. The acoustics are simply amazing. Well preserved amphitheatre, with much more on the ground at the archeological site

Stunning ancient stadium or theatre, what ever you can say it. It is magnificent to see after all these centuries that it is still there.. standing.. how many million of people have passing by ... I am totally impressed.. don't forget to visit the museum too.. and the ancient site too. Try to go early in the morning ..

A beautiful Temple where people would go for healing. You would be given potions, or handle snakes, and then you would be put to sleep in a dream chamber. After you told your dream, a healer would help you interpret it, and make offerings or do rituals to help you heal. Historical, lovely site!
Yeshe M — Google review
Pretty interesting history. I don't think of a stadium as a health related place as this was back in the ancient times. Great acoustics!
Carl P — Google review
Just magic ! Be at a theatrical performance as ancient Greeks were doing 2500 years ago !
MD A — Google review
The Stadium at the Asclepieion of Epidaurus is a significant ancient Greek athletic facility that formed an integral part of the sanctuary dedicated to Asclepius, the god of medicine and healing. Built primarily in the 4th century BC, it hosted athletic competitions, known as "gymnikoi" (as competitors were nude), as well as contests in rhapsody, music, and drama, all part of the "Asklepieia" festival held every four years in honor of the god. The stadium was ingeniously constructed within a natural depression in the ground, with the slopes shaped to accommodate spectators. In its earliest form (5th century BC), spectators likely stood or sat on humble stepped constructions of fieldstones and clay. However, from the 4th century BC onwards, limestone seats began to be manufactured and installed for the spectators along the two long sides of the stadium. Restoration efforts have focused on shaping the track and restoring seats on the south side, with the vaulted passage restoration also in progress. While not as large as the famous Epidaurus Theatre, the stadium had a significant capacity, indicating the large number of people who gathered for the "Asklepieia" festival. Beyond athletic events, the games at Epidaurus were deeply intertwined with the healing practices of the sanctuary. The festival, including the athletic contests, was believed to contribute to the physical and spiritual well-being of the pilgrims seeking healing. In Roman times, starting from the 1st century AD, games in honor of Roman emperors, known as "Caesareia" and "Sebasteia" (Augustea), were also held here. The Stadium at Epidaurus stands as a testament to the comprehensive approach to well-being in ancient Greece, where physical exercise and public spectacle were considered integral to a healthy life, complementing the therapeutic practices of the Asclepieion.

Nestled about 15 km from Ancient Epidaurus, the Monastery Agnountos is a hidden gem that dates back to the early 11th century. This charming monastery, also known as Panagia Agnountos, showcases stunning Byzantine architecture and is renowned for its exquisite frescoes. Visitors are greeted by a serene atmosphere filled with vibrant flowers in the courtyard and friendly nuns who create a welcoming environment.
Beautiful place, the nuns take great care of it! The monastery is small, but charming. No official parking, but you can easily leave the car on a side of the road (wide stripe of side road in both directions). Inside, there is a rich garden, a dark, captivating chapel and a little souvenir shop. No card, cash only. The entry to the monastery is free of charge. It is nice to remember about accurate dressing. They offer, however, scarfs for those, who don't have anything to cover. Beautiful garden! Highly recommend.

The Theatre at the Ancient City of Epidaurus is a must-see attraction in Epidauro, Greece. The historical city walls, dating back to the 4th century BC, offer a captivating look into the ancient past with impressive construction and strategic placement for defense. The theater itself is an amazing sight with incredible acoustics that still mesmerize visitors today. It's conveniently located just a short drive from Athens, making it an ideal day trip destination.
This is closed but you can see almost everything from outside. It is very very close to the harbor through a walkway for bicycles and pedestrians only. There are two sites separated by an uphill dirt road. At the site next to the theater you can see clearly the roman walls on top of the ancient greek stone walls. The theater is a little marvel to see during the sunset. If you want to see more, go up the dirt road and turn right towards the church. After passing the church on top of the hill there is a less defined path which leads you to the ancient walls. Enjoy!

Amazing place. This is incredible, hard to believe that ancient Greeks built such a big theatre for probably 14000 people, with this view, acoustic, quality. They performed with no technology and thousands of people were arriving thousands of kilometres without cars, planes, only boats and carriages, to see the art of the theatre, not to watch killing people and animals. It was even more advanced culture than we think usually.

Outdoor Activities
Tolo Beach, nestled on the picturesque Argolis Peninsula in Greece, is a delightful destination for families and travelers alike. With its soft sandy shores and invitingly shallow, crystal-clear waters, it’s an ideal spot for children and swimmers of all ages to enjoy. The beach is well-equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, ensuring comfort while you soak up the sun or partake in various water activities like swimming, snorkeling, and watersports.
We were a little way out from the main beach, close to the car park, the Organised beach was ok €10 for 2 chairs and a parasol, which you can use all day. There is a menu of food bits, quite expensive but I guess that's how they make a bit of money. The water is Gorgeous, shallow for a long way out! Perfect for little ones! There are water sports and boat rides. They have showers and changing rooms. A lovely place for a relaxing time at the beach! I would have liked to stay longer and go into Tolo and explored the other side of the beach ( they have a massive water slide)

The beach was amazing. They had very comfortable loungers at affordable prices with nice cushions. They had a large variety of drinks and food, and it was very comfortable. When the sun hit us, they kindly put up an extra umbrella so that we could be in the shade. The water was amazing absolutely stunning and we super enjoyed our day. I can’t recommend it enough.

Nice beach in Napfliou, you rent the chairs for 15 euro a pair. Beer is 8 euro for 2 big ones. Water is warm but very salty.
Tarek C — Google review
I love Tolo beach outside of the season. Its nicer when its not over crowded. Its a sandy, shallow beach which is child friendly for that reason. There are many bars and taverns also a water park at the beach. Tolo beach used to be a blue flag beach, but it has lost its flag in summer of 2025 due to disorganization of the beachside and garbage. The water quality is still good.
Lady G — Google review
Love this area! Clean beach, many shops and restaurants. The growing city is making parking more difficult. Many nice hotels available.
Elizabeth B — Google review
Tolo, unfortunately, has been overexploited through the years. Don't let the seemingly picturesque photos fool you. The beach that used to be the main attraction is literally covered with seats and sunbeds from the local shops. If this was done tastefully, it would be fine. However, the prices are similar to those found in Greek islands and kitsch is the order of the day everywhere. Go to Nafplio instead instead of spending a day here

Nice beach with plenty of restaurants, cafes and all you need for a pleasant day on a beautiful beach.
Mathias K — Google review
A beautiful sandy beach with shallow water. There are outdoor showers, deckchairs, changing cabins, free parking, food, drinks, shallow water in the sea for non-swimmers and for children. There is not much space for sports on the beach, but it is worth visiting. Fun little beach.

Mouria is a stunning restaurant with a breathtaking view of the sea and mountains. The entrance, adorned with wine leaves, sets the stage for the beautiful surroundings. The outdoor seating area is nestled under ancient blackberry trees and a roof of wine plants, offering a cozy and serene atmosphere. Guests can enjoy generous portions of fresh and delicious food while taking in the idyllic scenery. The staff, led by Nikolas, provides professional and friendly service, along with great recommendations for wines.
Wonderful place. Beach front, great restaurant with view, breakfast is amazing, staff very nice and hospitality Family owned. It has a very good atmosphere. You feel right at home. The most gorgeous Magnolia tree, bathes the area in an antoxicating smell I would stay here for a month

Amazing venue!!! Highlight of our trip. I cannot recommend this place enough.. we drove for 45 minutes from Tolo to get to this paradise. The food is amazing, the beach is great, calm and peaceful. You can spend the day on the sunbeds and take a swim whenever you want. The staff is very kind and the prices are fair.

We didn’t even get the chance to eat. The place was extremely overcrowded, and although we were given a table after 10 minutes, it hadn’t been cleared from the previous guests. We waited another 20 minutes, but no one came to clean it or take our order, so we ended up leaving. Very disappointing experience — we hope they improve their service and organization.
Ioannis D — Google review
An idyllic setting – the perfect holiday destination. It offers the ideal combination of location, delicious food, comfortable accommodation and excellent service.
Joan G — Google review
Restaurant was very disappointing. Beautiful location, but staff was very abrupt and unfriendly, food options limited, not creative, very bland, and inelegantly served. Of serious concern was that there were large mice/rats eating the grapes on the trellis covering the dining area - and pooping on our table. Really gross and there are many potential hazards with that. Significant room for improvement all around and not a place we'd return to or recommend.
Paula W — Google review
I didn't stay at the hotel , I have only visited the restaurant which the vegeterian main dishes options are not always available . They offered me pasta with tomatoes sauce intead , the problem with that was that the sauce was precoocked with meat, so I couldn't eat it. If you have a vegetarian diet make sure before you'd be sitted that the dishes are available.

Great little restaurant on the beach, beautiful scenery especially in the evening, the food was very traditional Greek food, must try the Greek salad here, it’s amazing 🤩

Our first review dates from a couple of years back from the time we had our wedding there. Ever since we have revisited Mouria every single summer! The homely atmosphere in this splendid environment makes us feel at ease and helps us unwind from our daily routine. The people there are friendly, never pushy and always remember you. A little piece of paradise that is worth sharing but you want to keep a secret at the same time. We had to leave yesterday, but are sure to return again next year. Thanks for everything! :-) ———— We discovered Mouria about a year ago. An idyllic and peaceful hotel with amazing location, staff and food. A couple of days ago Mouria hosted our wedding. It was magical! We couldn’t have hoped for anything more. Atmosphere, service and food were amazing. We felt very at home and look forward to returning for visits on a regular basis when in need to recharge our batteries!

Restaurant
Argyropoulos Ant-Lazarou Chr-Co O.E is a delightful gem that stands out as one of the best traditional Greek restaurants. Recently, a group of 54 visitors enjoyed their experience here, with everyone raving about the quality and taste of the food—there wasn't a single complaint! The friendly staff, fluent in English, provided insights into various dinner options available. Diners can expect generous portions of homemade dishes at reasonable prices.
Probably I was lucky today, but meal was really tasty (darada + rise), and seems other people from my touristic group also were happy.
Volodymyr M — Google review
The food tasted good but the portions were small and it was overpriced. The Greek salad was good and tasty. The vegetarian dishes were really small portions but cost a lot (9€ for one). The beef with onions tasted really good but again, the price was really high as if it was in some luxury restaurant (12€). Overall I wouldn't recommend visiting this restaurant, the high prices are simply making it not worth it.
David B — Google review
Avoid. Very expensive, food is avarage at best, small dishes. Just to understand the price - small sparkelig water, 3 5 eur. Normal price is 1 eur in other restaurants! When we asked for a menu he didn't gave us as he said that not all the dishes available. Skip this place.
Leraz L — Google review
Local restaurant serving fresh, local food. Very good.
Keith K — Google review
Was overpriced relative to the quality of the offering. To be fair, we were there for lunch as part of a bus tour in the off season. There was nobody else there. So I suspect they were trying to be as efficient as possible, limiting the choices and having pre-prepared meals all ready for service. But still, it was 25% more expensive than any other comparable meal we had in Greece, so we felt a bit held hostage. And the food quality was OK at best. My risotto was way too oily and saucy. The spaghetti in carbonara sauce was very straightforward. And the chicken kabob took way too long to bring out (the rest of the table had finished their meals!) and was a rather ordinary dish that should have been 3 Euros less than what was charged.
Michael P — Google review
We where here with a group of 54 people and everyone was happy with the quality of the food. We did not have 1 complaint. The staff spoke English and you could go in the back where they explained the different dinner options.

We came by sailboat and had a nice dinner. It was well made if slightly on the bland side - we needed more salt but that could be due to us sweating a lot and needing extra sodium intake :) The two waiters were friendly. It was an overall normal and nice place we’d come again to eat. Nice view and clean.

Vivid little tavern right on the sea, visited by many locals. The food was fresh and tasty, and came quickly despite the place was full and other restaurants in the area closed earlier because of the heatwave. The staff was very efficient and despite the heat kept working and serving customers with a smile and an attentive eye… chilled atmosphere and value for money too!

This place must be the hidden gem in Tolo. Dont take my words. Visit their website and you ll see. The owners did an exceptional job by renovating the rooms and the taverna with Tulum vibes. The stuff are very friendly, positive, helpful and make the experience even better. The rooms have beach view and you literally walk downstairs and get into the water. Incredible. The prices are super fair and i would say a steal if you take into consideration the fact that you are on the water at all times. I have been all over the world but this tiny place really impressed me. Thank you for the hospitality, the kindness and the love and attention to detail. Thank you!!

The Kotsiomitis Natural History Museum is highly acclaimed, boasting an impressive collection of fossils, shells, minerals, and insects. Additionally, the museum offers a delightful souvenir shop where one can find handmade jewelry and authentic fossils from Epidavros. Very enjoyable museum! Chock full of incredible fossil, mineral, insect, and small mammal exhibitions, including many locally found ammonites, common to the region. I highly enjoyed visiting here and thought that their museum was wonderful. Small gift shop includes many handmade items by the proprietor, shop is cash only. Apparently small museum, but extremely rich inside - it has an impressive collection of very well preserved fossils and minerals from all over the world, as well as a lot of information about life evolution. You can buy nice pieces of jewelry (handmade by the lady at the reception) as well as thematic souvenirs. You'll find a lot to see, to learn, to enjoy!

One of the best museums i have visited. The collection of fossils, insects, crystals etc is amazing. If you are around Epidaurus definitely worth visiting!

Absolutely magnificent collection! If you have to choose between this and the ancient theatre in town, do this. The price of 2 eur is way too low for what you get. It should definitely be increased. If i could, i would have suggested to put the insects in some kind of epoxy to preserve them.

What a lovely place to eat our lunch! The lady was really nice, although she did not speak english. However with some word greeks and hand gestures she definitely understands it. Gorgeous secluded beach. Not sure why people are saying it’s dirty - it’s not a catered beach, so take your rubbish away and it will stay clean for everyone. Water was fresh and the beach is stony - bring shoes and you’ll enjoy it even more. Some sea urchins on the rocks round the side so just be careful.

Camping Nicolas 1

Campground
Camping Nicolas 1 is a great spot for camping, whether you prefer pitching a tent or parking your camper, caravan, or van. The campsite offers a nice area for a 2-3 night stay with beautiful sea views and the chance to see turtles. The facilities are conveniently located near a little shop and the parking spaces are suitable for small cars. However, larger vehicles may encounter some issues in certain areas.
One of the BEST camping spots in Greece (Peleponnese)! The place is quiet, it’s windy (what you will love, when you go camping in Greece) and the view 😍 I recommend!!!
Annemarie W — Google review
Very crowded during weekends in summer, very noisy especially for the tents cause there spot is next to a street. The water of the sea is often dirty, no sand just stones. Toilets are very old but clean. There is a small shop for the basic food and a very good taverna.
Julia S — Google review
One of the better camps I've stayed at – very peaceful and with plenty of natural shade. The lady who welcomed me and later saw me off was more than kind. The beach isn't amazing, but it's perfectly fine for a refreshing afternoon swim after visiting Epidaurus and Mycenae, which are nearby. I'll definitely be coming back 😁
Stevan Đ — Google review
A nice Camping zone for 2-3 nights. The sea is very nice. We have seen turtles directly in front. The little shop and the facility’s are very close by. The parking spaces are good for small cars. The bigger ones had their problems at the front area. The toilets are clean. I just give 4 stars because the stuff isn’t that friendly When we liked to check out around 11 am nobody was available at the reception and the cellphone number was also not available which was placed on the door. And with 28€ for a small 4.5 m van the most costly camping in Greece so far.
Mike S — Google review
This was one of the most beautiful camping I have ever been, worldwide. Tent spot was great, Staff super friendly!
Costanza P — Google review
Great location! The tents/campers area is in the shade, under trees (1st picture). The toilets and showers are clean. There is a small market at the reception, does not offer great variety, but you can find something to eat and drink. The camping also has a sunbathing area which is gorgeus (2nd picture)!!! The sunken city ruins and the small amphitheatre are in about 500m.
Raluca G — Google review
Very bad experience.Do not recommend. The sea is not clean at all. I stayed for one night and I had enough 😅. From a brief interaction I had with the owner, he was very rude and ironic. During the evening and night hours there were a lot of mice scurrying about in the tree branches. My advice is that if someone visits the place he/she should be very cautious.

Lots of trees, close to sea, small well equipped shop with ice(!), close to restaurants, washing machine (7 euros), fridge. Plenty of hot water for showers and lots of toilets (clean). We were 2 adults, 2 dogs, a vw campervan and a beetle. Will be back. Mini open theatre having works done. Hubbie swam out to see underwater city.

The sunken city of ancient Epidaurus is a captivating destination that offers a unique glimpse into Greece's rich history. Dating back to the 4th century BC, this submerged site features remnants of an ancient civilization just 1 to 2 meters beneath the water's surface, making it easily accessible for snorkelers and kayakers alike.
Impressive place, you can literally see and touch (not allowed though) 1800 years old walls. Watch out for the urchins there! Quite a unique experience.

if you do not come prepared to go snorkeling or to jump in a kayak then you can stay at a terrace to enjoy the sea and have some quiet time. there are some boards with some pictures and information but you cannot read anything as the glass is broken.

Nice place for a snorkel on this Roman villa. Follow the "this way to sunken city" to find the ruins. There were a lot of sea urchins about so best not to put your feet down.
Adam C — Google review
Taking a snorkel is a fantastic idea, you can swim out and see the ruins all for yourself!

(Translated by Google) Parking situation and access very tight. You should leave it for the locals and not drive in with your camper. The water was clear and calm. Bathing shoes necessary as there are a lot of sea urchins. The sunken city is not spectacular. But since there are also many species of fish to see, snorkeling is still worth it.
Yvonne R — Google review
From sideseeseeing point of view there is nothing special. Some rests of walls 1-2 meters deep. But there are lovely fishes and swimming or snorkeling there is pleasant. Consider it as a beach to visit if you are not far from it. I had a chance to see there 2 turtles.

Einfacher Zugang, nur 1 ... 2 m unter der Wasseroberfläche liegen die Ruinen. Tauchermaske reicht. Schuhe, Sandalen empfohlen. (Translated by Google) Easy access, the ruins are only 1 ... 2 m below the water surface. Diving mask is enough. Shoes, sandals recommended.

Nice ruins, great snorkeling. Huge number of sea urchins!! Water shoes are MANDATORY!!! The beach is nit "organized" so there are NO sunbeds or umbrelas. There is a kantina 50m away. Also parking places are limited
Ciprian P — Google review
Amazing to snorkel here and see the ruins by yourself. What was sad though is that everybody was standing on the ruins while in the water. Very disrespectful. Now I’m hoping that at some point there would be a sign put out telling people how to behave while snorkelling and swimming there. It needs some regulation to protect the sunken city and keep it for the next generations to come.

Such a beautiful location. Amazing views from patio. Suite was so nice we decided to stay another night. Excellent breakfast. Beautiful beaches nearby. Pool was a nice surprise and we enjoyed it after a day at the beach.

Place where I use to stop at least twice a year when in Greece. Nice view, , good food but….. they have not yet learned how to make and serve a spritz!!!!! No sparkling wine in… no chips/olives/roasted nuts to go with

Stork restaurant has a beautiful panoramic view which is their unique selling point. The food is great and presented nice but we didn't get our plates at the same time which is unfortunate. We would have liked a dessert and coffee but we couldn't get the waiters attention. Without the view and the kitchen it would get 3 out of 5... Stork, please pay attention to the hospitality.

We took 2 freddo espresso and 3 bottles of 0.5 L water. On the menu freddo was 4.20 euros. We were charged 19.30 Euros total and noticed it later because they didnt say the price when we pay. We paid by card. We also waited long time to order around 30 minutes without anyone acknowledging us. It’s sad that i was excited to visit this place again. I don’t think i will go anymore.
Burcu M — Google review
We felt ignored, as the staff prioritized serving others who arrived after us and only attended to us when we asked. We had two young children who were hungry, yet we waited a very long time for something as simple as an orange juice and a waffle. Overall, very poor service, leaving the impression that families are not welcome here.
Alice M — Google review
The view from here is beautiful. It would be the perfect spot for dinner or drinks if it weren't for the shocking service. The waiters are just young guys in trainers who aren't interested at all in working there. The guy behind the bar was very rude and impatient. Just a very unpleasant atmosphere here.

Εστιατόριο Το Καλογερικόν offers a delightful dining experience with delicious food sourced from the restaurant's own farm, providing authentic Greek flavors. The charming ambiance is complemented by the beautiful surroundings and decor, including captivating photographs by renowned photographer Yannis Alefantou. Guests can enjoy homemade dishes prepared with fresh ingredients, some of which are harvested from the restaurant's garden.
Very tasty and simple food, with good ingredients, the people respect the traditions and have a great taste in flavors, the place is beautiful with cats plants and stone architecture, also the waitresses are very polite with a smile on their faces. The restaurant could some more staff when it is overcrowded (probably in the kitchen)
GIANNIS K — Google review
First of all, the food was great. But there is more expected when eating out in a restaurant. A little attention maybe? If you don't mind the owner dressed like he just came of his land, smoking on a free table while checking his Instagram on a very high volume, you're OK here. But for me that was a little disturbing. Cats are running around and sitting at your table waiting for the owner to feed them your left over fish. Before you are even finished. It works for two minutes but then they return to your table. Meanwhile the dog is fed on the terrace also in between serving. Maybe wash your hands in between all these actions....? Not much interest in the guests, more in his phone. So if you can handle all this, the food was great so at least the lady in the kitchen knows how it works.
R. S — Google review
Family run place with home style cooking. Don’t expect fancy food but it is tasty if somewhat simple. Good place to enjoy Greek staples. We enjoyed the cats scattered around the restaurant. They provided us a cute show with our meal.

Beautiful traditional mansion turned into a restaurant. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed. The service friendly and quick. The food was amazing! We had amaranth greens, pork stew, fries, eggplant rolls and they were great; fresh, simple, high quality ingredients. Olives and olive oil were also part of the 'bread basket'. The oil and the bread were amazing! Prices really reasonable. Highly suggested place. p.s. a bunch of lovely cats and kittens play in the terrace

Homemade food with fresh ingredients partially from their garden, the lady who served us was really friendly. We went for 2 nights, their daily menu changed according to the ingredients they have that day. It makes sense to have food in the season.

Excellent tavern in ancient epidavros. They serve nice Greek food in a beautiful yard. Everything we tried was awesome. Was also nice to see that they only have beer from small Greek breweries and not the usual Heineken and amstel! It's worth a visit..
Geo P — Google review
Great place very graphical with maybe the best food in epidavros. Some people mention that the owner is a bit grumpy, but he actually seems like a good guy regardlessthe look. We need to understand that when these small restaurants are getting overcrowded because of the plays in epidavros theater, the employees and employers feel pressed and have to work long hours most of the time. It is impossible to find good employees for a day of two when the place is overcrowded due to the plays, so we also as customers need to show patience and understanding. The food is traditional with some modern touches and very tasteful ! We visited 2 times during our stay in epidavros !

Greek restaurant
Mike Restaurant in Greece is a top-notch dining establishment that offers an extensive menu at affordable prices. Notably, their fish dishes are exceptional, skillfully prepared without being overcooked unlike other eateries. The service provided by the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. In addition to great food and service, Mike Restaurant also boasts breathtaking views of the sea and a picturesque Orthodox Church. Their stuffed tomatoes and peppers are particularly delectable. For dessert, patrons are treated to delightful ice cream offerings.
We stopped here for lunch after visiting the ancient theatre in Epidaurus. They had obviously had a lunch rush but were happy to accommodate us. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful view. We ordered typical Greek fare, and it was very fresh and tasty. Lovely afternoon!

The table we were seated next to a dock had a refreshingly pleasant atmosphere in the shade of the sun. Prices here were great €58 for a hungry family of 3 (including drinks). Moving on, the tzatziki was extremely garlicky and slightly under seasoned in my opinion. The calamari was your average taverna calamari with a rich crispy batter. The Greek salad was carried by the fresh crumbly feta which highly outshone the rest of the dish. The grilled sardines were packed with smoky flavour, with a delicate and juicy texture. Lastly the octopus was quite simple and plain, but charred well to compensate. Overall this was a nice experience and it would be a decent place to stop for some sea food.👍

We had only dinner here. We went simple. greek salad, tzatziki, and seabass for 2 people (1 kg) and ouzo. The seabass has 3 side options. Fries, rice and veggies. We went for the veggies. Before ordering the fish, we went inside to choose our fish from the fridge. 1 kg 65 euros. The fish was cooked to perfection. A little olive oil and thats it. Both sides of agean sea the greeks and the turks are experts on grilling this size of fish. Tables are by the sea. Fast and friendly service. We paid 90 euros. After dinner a variety of sweets are served which were from house. We were ful full, just tasted the desserts. Milfoy/ Revani/ Kadayif.

A wonderful spot seemingly off the beaten path. We wandered over on our walk to the ancient theater. My husband and I enjoyed their Klimata salad, sea bream fish , & vegetables. Their giant fava beans were the best we had on several islands. Great house red wine. I’m pretty sure they were closing soon and we didn’t realize it, but they graciously welcomed us in and served us. We never felt rushed and they served us dessert, and a homemade after dinner drink that was very tasty. We were thrilled to stumble across their spot.

What an incredible gem!! I was staying in the area and found this place on Trip Advisor, just a 5 minute walk for an absolutely lovely dinner. Owned by family, the 2 brothers were so very attentive and the food was delicious!!! By their recommendation I had their “Pork in the oven” a marinated pork knuckle!!! Which I learned they make only 12 a day after they marinate it in their very special marinade. I was so fortunate to get the last one!! The meat literally just burst with flavors and melted in my mouth with EVERY bite. Their local Greek house wine was lovely!! They generously brought me a delectable dessert on the house that ended my dinner with a very special touch. The atmosphere was lovely!! A jovial group of couples from Poland were next to me and raved about their food. The atmosphere was authentically Greek with the special touch of Lola, the family son’s cat, who would welcome you but not beg at the table - very good manners for a Greek cat. I would definitely go back to this charming place again and highly recommend it!!

The Archaeological Museum of the Asclepieion of Epidaurus is a small museum located inside a splendid Venetian building. It showcases the social development of Argolis, from ancient hunter-gatherers to more recent times. The museum houses findings from the surrounding sites, including the spectacular ruins of an enormous theater that is still in use today. This marvel of ancient engineering can hold up to 14,000 people and is renowned for its almost perfect acoustics.
You will be amazed by this Museum! This site is full of ancient greek history and you will have the possibility to visit the stunning Epidaurus Theatre and the ancient stadium of Epidaurus. At the entrance there is a big parking area and some kiosks. So if you love ancient greek History you can’t miss it!

After seeing the theatre, walking around the surrounding areas and taking in the scenery. Then I think you should go to the museum in order to piece everything together. This museum has all the artifacts found in the surrounding areas. I had a tour guide with me so I was able to appreciate the artifacts, what they meant and the gods that the ancient Greeks worshipped in this area. Without this context I would have been lost. Also €20 euros is a really steep price for in essence a small room and an ancient theatre. It should be €5 in my humble opinion.

I felt a little bit of sorrow.. yes they have some ancient stuff.. but it is small.. not air-conditioning and need restoration.. you see the walls the painting goes out.. The museum is realy small and highly neglected. It's collection has been plundered from the national museum in Athens leaving mostly replicas behind. Its exhibition is very old fashioned and a bit confusing. The museum collection has some great building parts from the roofs of the ancient temples of the area that are really impressive. But although the museum has its problems the archaeological site is one of the top sites in Greece. The ancient theatre is huge and well preserved (athens theater festival is hosted every summer there). And the remains of the buildings and the temples are really interesting and nicely presented. The cult belonged to Apollo "Maleata", who had healing properties and was considered the father of Asclepius. This sanctuary, from the 6th BC. h. and then it formed a unity with the Asclepion that was developed at that time. The main monuments of the sanctuary of the classical period were the temple and the altar of the god, the mosque of the Muses, the temple of Asclepius and a closed gallery on a monumental rise, the large tank of the Roman period, the nymphaeum and a large residence of the priests . Tholos / Thymele at the Asclepieion of Epidaurus

4.5
(33)
Historical landmark
The Tholos, also known as Thymele, is a fascinating archaeological site located at the Asclepieion of Epidaurus. Recent excavations in 2020 revealed the existence of an earlier two-story building adjacent to the current Tholos structure, indicating that the worship of Asclepios dates back much further than previously believed. The round ground plan and remnants of 26 Doric and 14 Corinthian columns offer a glimpse into its sacred past.
Stonehenge you said? Check out The Tholos. Axial precession, heliocentricity, planetary movements and more! I suspect a corridor connection with the Avaton (they are at the same level)... So much to learn from this site...
Nick P — Google review
At that time, the Tholos, with its round ground plan, was used as a sacred building. Today only fragments remain. Attempts are currently being made to rebuild the 26 Doric and 14 Corinthian columns and to reconstruct the tholos.

(Translated by Google) The circular structure of the Tholos of Epidaurus was a perfect astronomical monument. The paradox is that it was located in the par excellence therapeutic center of the ancient Greek world. The Tholos of the Asclepius of Epidaurus or Thymeli according to the relevant building inscription, was built between the years 365 and 335 BC, as part of the great building program of the Sanctuary, immediately after the completion of the construction of the temple of Asclepius. Pausanias, a traveler of the 2nd century AD, states that the architect of the Tholos was Polycleitos from Argos. Next to the Tholos is the so-called Avato or Egoimiterio. It is believed that the sick entered the temple of the god, where priestesses chanted the paean and the patient mentally prepared himself to sleep and see the god in his dream and then be healed.

(Translated by Google) The Tholos, also known as Thymeli, is one of the most enigmatic and architecturally impressive buildings of the Asklepieion of Epidaurus. Although it has not been preserved in its entirety, the restored sections and the lithographic representation in the space give a clear picture of its original form: a circular temple with a particular geometry and careful design. What stands out is the coexistence of elaborate external columns with the mysterious underground corridor inside. The Tholos seems to have had a ceremonial or symbolic function, which enhances the charm and mysticism of the space.

The Ceramotechnica ΞΥΠΟΛΙΑΣ pottery store is highly impressive, providing a fair pricing for tourists. They offer a wide range of ancient Greek ceramic products and have knowledgeable staff who give presentations on the history of Greek pottery. Additionally, they conduct free draws for small prizes to group members. The shop also allows online orders through Etsy.com, but visiting their workshop in person is highly recommended as it offers a delightful experience.
What a lovely place! The shop offers a variety of ancient Greek ceramic products. The owners are really friendly and helpful. You can also place your orders at etsy.com but there is nothing better than an in-person visit of the workshop!!!!

Monastery
Monastery Talantio, also known as the Monastery of St. Dimitrius Myrrh or Abbey Avgou, is situated about 15 km after Ancient Epidaurus. It is located at the end of a dirt road approximately 10 km from the village Pelei. The monastery consists of two small united and abandoned temples, which are believed to date back to the 14th-15th century.
Very old and nice
N. N — Google review
At the eastern end of the village and just after the intersection of the road leading from Arachnaeo to Lygourgeio, is the first catholicon of the Old Monastery of Talantiou (14th century), the only one that has been preserved over the years. The church is built with simple stonework and is a cross-shaped structure with a square dome, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It is a pity to realize that the place is totally neglected and unprotected. The beautiful hagiographies ( holy paintings) are vandalized and the Church or the State are doing nothing tto preserve this significant monument.
Salvator K — Google review
(Translated by Google) The old Holy Monastery of Talantiu is a Byzantine jewel of Argolis. The main church dates back to the 14-15th century, while the chapel is a little later. At the end of the 18th century the hermitage was abandoned as the monks moved to a newer hermitage. Abandonment, of course, is something that still happens today. The unique Byzantine hagiographies that adorn the two churches are being lost day by day due to the complete abandonment of the Archaeological Service of the area. The tax office of Byzantine and post-Byzantine Antiquities of Argolis completely discredits the Byzantine antiquities of the region, and this can be seen from all the Byzantine - post-Byzantine temples of the wider Argolis which are under destruction. In this particular temple, there are multiple falls of wall paintings inside, while water enters through the uncovered window during rainy days. The entrance of the temple, which was apparently made under the auspices of the local village, is made of bricks (!!!) while layers of cement can be seen on the dome, apparently to preserve and fix the temple. The Archaeological Service, which was supposed to include the temple in a restoration program YESTERDAY, will certainly be moved when the temple collapses either internally or externally. Shame and shame, for the local Antiquities Tax Office. Fortunately, neighboring tax authorities, such as Gortynia, care for and restore Byzantine and post-Byzantine temples in their area. Old School House •chill n’grill• is a family-owned eatery that exudes passion and devotion. The delectable cuisine and inviting ambiance make it an ideal spot for post-theater conversations in Epidaurus. The service provided by the friendly staff is commendable, even during busy periods. Vassiliki, who treats guests like family, deserves special mention, as does Andreas for his impeccable service.
Stopped here for a delicious lunch after visiting Ancient theatre of Epidaurus. Greek salad was probably one of the best we’ve had in Greece during our week here. The tomato, olives and olive oil were super ripe fresh, and tzatziki probably also the best we’ve had here! Authentic Greek food, kebabs were hot and fresh, Nice atmosphere with outdoor seating and very friendly service. Reasonably priced and generous portion sizes, must stop if you’re in the area!

This place is a hidden gem and it's a place where you already know it's special because the locals eat there. I had the best Dakos salad and an amazing souvlaki. The ladies over there are so nice and friendly!

This place has a simple souvlaki and gyro menu however the staff are really friendly and helpful and the Greek salad is one of the best I've had in terms of freshness and quality ingredients. It was also very very recently priced If you're going to epidavros, This is much better than some of the other touristic restaurants you can end up at where you have 10 50 seat buses waiting for the client seat and move on. Here with the early small group which made it very intimate and the clients were very very happy with the meals

Great restaurant, multiple choice of meats and possibility to combine them! Great food and the athmosphere and staff are good as well. :)

The Old School House offers exceptional value and quality when it comes to traditional Greek food. The gyros and souvlaki are absolutely gorgeous—authentic, flavorful, and satisfying. That said, pescatarians might find the options limited, with only salad and cheese available, and unfortunately, there’s no fish on the menu. Also, no coffee is served, which is a bit of a letdown after a great meal. Still, it’s a definite yes from me for the taste and value alone
Mark B — Google review
We were so disappointed, we wait about 1 hour or hour and half for our food to come out! So you should KNOW that they will serve all the village people first! All the tables around us order a lot after that, and leave while we were still waiting. We were a party of 5 with 3 little kids. We politely complained and ask for our food and the answer was: we order difficult plates ( giro souvlaki, grill chicken breast ) 5 Star only for the location.

Egialos is a charming restaurant located near a camping ground, offering a diverse and delicious menu. The souvlaki plate comes complete with pork, fries, and tzatziki, while the octopus is particularly noteworthy. Although the pork can be on the fatty side, the overall dining experience is enjoyable. The friendly staff and picturesque views make it an ideal spot to relax and savor Greek cuisine.
Excellent restaurant right on the beach. The service was really fast and the dishes were really delicious. The price is a bit expensive. Restaurant guests have the option to sit on the beach chairs for free. The beach itself is great, quiet and clean.

So this restaurant has some pretty good food their 4.6 rate is a realistic rate. They have a nice menu with lots to choose from. When we were there we had the souvlaki plate and the octopus the octopus was very good but there is no side dish to accompany the dish. The souvlaki plate on the other hand is complete with pork fries and tzatziki. The pork was on the fatty side so you can to decide if you eat it or remove it from each piece. Al in all it was a good meal at a decent prices. Go have a try you should enjoy it as well.

excellent place and good food however my review is quite low due to the fact that we arrived slightly before the opening (9:20 am) asked the owner to open the umbrella in order to have shadow at the table we were about to sit for our 6months baby and he advised we should wait for the barista to arrive. On the opposite side the barista was very polite as always and apologized for any inconvenience.
