There are some paths in the woods with shade to escape the heat. Views are splendid, although many waterfalls seemed to have gotten smaller or completely dried up when we got here in July. Probably the busiest trail in this area, with good reason!

If you are coming from Samoëns you can walk the forest trail to Gorges des Tines and continue all the way to Cascade du Rouget, I highly recommend it. Otherwise, the closest bus stop is in Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval, followed by a 30 minute walk to Salvagny, and another 30 minutes to the waterfall.

I liked it however the trail isn't well marked. Its a great place for rock climbing but if you're coming just to walk along the river I'd skip it. We were in a rainy day and walking in the muddy wood was great but hard for the kids.

The best view is from the bridge, dont expect to get any closer or see anything more by doing the walk. Literally the most unimpressive gorge I have ever seen... skip it and head for your next point of interest!!
