Nestled atop the picturesque Sabika hill, the Alhambra stands as a breathtaking testament to Granada's rich history and architectural splendor. This medieval complex, originally constructed in the 13th century by the Nasrid dynasty, showcases an exquisite blend of Islamic artistry and Christian influences following its conquest in 1492. Visitors are captivated by its intricately carved throne rooms, serene cloistered courtyards adorned with fountains, and stunning mosaic tilework that reflects Granada’s iconic style.
A beautiful experience. Like a step back in time. Fantastic gardens, and immaculately maintained parts of the castle are amongst the many things you can visit and experience. Highly recommended to tour it with an audio guide or,better, with a guide! Book well in advance and remember to bring your passports,as they are mandatory to get in and linked to the tickets! 🎟️

The Alhambra in Granada is absolutely breathtaking. Every corner of the palace and gardens shows incredible detail and craftsmanship, making you feel like you have stepped back in time. The combination of intricate architecture, beautiful courtyards, and lush gardens creates a magical atmosphere that is hard to forget. Walking through the halls and seeing the ornate designs on the walls and ceilings is mesmerizing, and every view of the city from the fortress is stunning. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, making the visit smooth and informative. It’s a place that captures both history and beauty perfectly. Five stars out of five – a must-visit for anyone traveling to Spain.

The Alhambra in Granada is an absolute must see!!!! It’s by far one of the most stunning and memorable places I’ve ever visited. I would highly recommend you spend the extra money and purchase a guided tour - that way, you can learn all the historical facts about the Alhambra. I only bought the admission tickets and regretted not getting the guided tour! The Nasrid Palaces are breathtaking, filled with intricate details, grand architecture, and so much history. The gardens and water fountains are so beautiful. I’ve never seen anything like it before! The Generalife Gardens are equally impressive, with perfectly manicured greenery, peaceful fountains and streams, and beautiful structures. This was my favorite part of the visit. Be prepared for lots of walking and stairs, as some areas may not be entirely accessible for those who have mobility difficulties. Plan to spend an entire morning or afternoon exploring, because there is so much to see - also lots of photo opportunities. The Alhambra truly lives up to the hype and is an unforgettable experience in Granada! Highly recommend the visit! Be sure to purchase tickets in advance so you don’t miss out on this amazing experience.

I was awed by the beauty as well as the history of Alhambra. In 711, the Moorish from north Africa conquered the sourthern Spain. Before the Christians recaptured the land, Granada was the center of culture and commerce. The Nasrid Dynasty built the Alhambra palace, which consists of the Generalife garden(my favorite) and Palacios Nazaries palace. Throughout the Alhambra, you will see Moorish's incredible architecture and design combined with intelligent irregation system that draws water from the revier down below to provide the water for Alhambra. It was refreshing and peacful to see water running throughout the garden, fountains, court yard, and ponds. And the views are also amazing. From the palace balcony, you can see the old town Albaicin nestle on the hillside and part of Granada city. The best time to visit Alhambra is late Spring, early Summer or late Fall. Reserve your tickets early or sign up with a tour guide will save a lot of hassles.

An absolutely breathtaking place — the Alhambra is a masterpiece of history, art, and architecture. Every corner is filled with incredible detail, from the intricate carvings and mosaics to the serene courtyards and gardens. The views of Granada and the Sierra Nevada mountains are stunning, especially at sunset. The visit is very well organized, and the audio guide helps bring the history to life. Truly one of the most beautiful and inspiring landmarks in Spain — an unforgettable experience and a must-see for anyone visiting Granada!

Unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Worth all the praise and more! The fortress gardens are a sight to behold. Book tickets in advance. They tend to get sold out pretty quickly and months in advance. Last minute tickets via third party sellers are easily 4x, 5x the price. So book in advance or you might miss out.

Absolutely stunning. Book your tickets in advance - it is so worth it and breathtaking when you go. Took us 4-5 hours from beginning to end and was one of the highlights of our trip! The intricacy and the details are just incredible. We didn't do a tour but maybe next time for all the history!!
Lucy C — Google review
Book way in advance my friends. Tix sell out super early and fast. Your ticketed time will be for the palace, which is about 5-10 min walk from the main entrance so get there early to walk through to the palace. Of course it’s incredible. She’s stunning. Amazing. The sacred geometry of it all is just too much for words to explain. Take it all in. Don’t rush it. Don’t skip the museum on your walk through either; it’s free entry and shows lots of excavation goodies, provides context and information. No need for a tour group for this one, unless you’re super into them. Feel free to roam and take it all in without the time constrictions. You can always eavesdrop on other groups along the way as well. Heaps of podcasts to listen to on your drive/ride into the area to get yourself up to speed. There are also tour guides at the front if you do require guidance last minute. Parking is easy for cars, van, campers etc. Fee is a flat rate per hour; I think we paid like 7€ for the few hours we were there. Lots of parks and chill areas to have your pre prepared Brekky, lunch or snacks, and there are multiple cafes, bars & restaurants close by if needed. Toilets are spread out among the complex, with some accessible by wheelchair. Contact the site for info about your specific needs. They’ve done a great job by making it as accessible as possible for an ancient site. There are some rooms with ramps and others without. The stairs are a killer in the heat. Bring water. Bring water, maybe suncream depending on the times, bring a snack, the Alcazabar has a few flights of steep stairs to get to the top but it’s so worth it at the top and the walk back down is so easy. Walk through the parks and gardens on the way back and relax with water, coffee or beer along the way. Truly one of the most incredible experiences of my life. So thankful to have been able to visit this place. Thank you.

The Palace of Charles V is a Renaissance-style residence located within the Alhambra complex. Built between 1526 and 1637, it holds special significance for Charles V, serving as a tribute to his grandparents and symbolizing Catholic dominance in Granada. The grand circular courtyard with its highest colonnade completed in 1619 offers a striking view of the Andalucian sky. Today, the palace houses museums and stands as a reminder of historical power struggles in Spain.
Sensational Renaissance building housed in the Alhambra compound. The outer square is "contradicted" by its circular court with two rows of columns. Phenomenal how the sin casts her moving shadow into the court! The building erected under Charles V houses the Alhambra museum on the ground floor and the Fine Arts Museum of Granada on the upper level. Good experience!

An impressive Renaissance palace inside the Alhambra complex. The circular courtyard is stunning and unique in design. It houses two excellent museums and offers a peaceful break from the crowds. A must-see for art and architecture lovers visiting Granada!
Jukejmen U — Google review
The Palace of Charles V is a fascinating stop inside the Alhambra complex and such a unique contrast to the surrounding Nasrid architecture. As I walked through its massive stone walls, I was struck by its Renaissance design — so different from the intricate Moorish style nearby, yet equally impressive. The highlight for me was stepping into the circular courtyard at the center. It feels grand and almost theatrical, with perfect symmetry and columns that make for stunning photos. 📸 Standing there, you really sense the ambition and vision of the era when it was built. The palace also houses two museums, perfect for learning more about Granada’s rich history. It’s a peaceful place to wander and reflect before continuing to explore the rest of the Alhambra. A true architectural gem that adds another layer of depth to the experience! 🏛️✨

Looks like an Arena, you can not visit this place alone it belongs to the Alhambra, book way in advange because they are often fully booked and you have to walk with a crowed. Go early in the morning or late in the afternoon
Gwendolina L — Google review
If you going to visit Alhambra, buy your ticket one month before you go. And dont visit here in summer season. We had to cancel our trip when we were walking inside cuz of the temperature.
Ridvan ( — Google review
Absolutely wonderful. I totally different architecture than others in Spain. The museums inside were great.!!
Ricardo A — Google review
Although enclosed within the heart of the Islamic Red City, the palace itself was never truly finished. Built to become a symbol of Christianity's triumph over the Muslims, it was never inhabited by Emperor Charles V, who embarked on an expedition, and his café remained unfinished for centuries (until the 20th century!) Its design is unique in that it is circular on the inside and square on the outside—a very distinctive form in European Renaissance architecture, combining the symbolism of celestial perfection (the circle) with that of space (the square), embodying Charles V's vision of a "ruler of the world."

Restaurant
Restaurante Ruta del Azafrán in Granada offers a unique dining experience with its theme inspired by the spice route and the coexistence of Christian, Muslim, and Sephardic cultures. The restaurant combines Mediterranean flavors with creative touches, offering dishes like Arab chicken pie with carrot salad and sea-bass with courgette and coconut sauce. Nestled in the charming streets of Granada, this culinary gem promises a flavorful journey where traditional Spanish cuisine meets a quirky atmosphere.
This is a great restaurant - staffs were very friendly, foods were well prepared (the shrimp salad tasted so good; the chicken paella in Moorish style was fabulous! The young chicken was so tender yet full of flavors). It was nice and clean inside - and the cool AC really helped in this hot weather:) all the dishes were great (and reasonably priced).

⭐️ 4/5 The only reason this experience doesn’t earn a full five stars is the service—because when it comes to the food, this restaurant delivers excellence on every plate. We stopped in for a quick lunch and ordered modestly: the crispy pork and the seabass with meat sauce. Both dishes were superb. The ingredients were evidently of high quality, each element thoughtfully paired to create a balance of flavor and texture that spoke to the chef’s precision and palate. Even with a limited tasting, it was clear that this kitchen understands harmony and restraint. Unfortunately, the service fell short of the same standard. Despite the restaurant being relatively quiet—no more than four tables occupied—the staff took a surprisingly long time to take our order, forgot our wine entirely, and ultimately left us to walk up to the counter to settle the bill ourselves. It’s a shame, because the culinary experience deserves to be matched by seamless hospitality. Still, I would gladly return for the food alone—it’s that good. With more attentive service, this could easily be one of the city’s standout dining experiences.

Fantastic experience. The Palo Cortado was perfect and the jamon was great. The croquetas were super crispy and full of flavor. At the end I asked for a digestif and they recommended Pacharan, which worked out really well.

The food was very good, the roast pork shoulder and pineapple dessert was impressive, rich and tasty. The only drawback was that the table was not very clean, but the food was satisfactory.

Stopped in for a late lunch after a day of strolling and enjoyed excellent food, great service and a lovely view looking up to Alhambra. Everything we ordered (salads, to steak to the savory pies) was excellent both in presentation and flavor. Worth visiting if strolling around the old city.

Nestled in the historic Albaicin neighborhood of Granada, El Trillo Restaurante offers a captivating dining experience. The restaurant is set in a renovated carmen, featuring fruit trees and tranquil water sounds, creating an oasis with stunning views of the majestic Alhambra. The culinary offerings at El Trillo are a feast for the senses, showcasing artfully presented Mediterranean dishes that celebrate the rich flavors of Spain.
The food was delicious. We took a red wine that was full of flavour. As the mains, we took the risotto with octopus and bolleto mushrooms, it was the best I have ever eaten, the grilled octopus, and the pork with pumpkin puree. I recommend these dishes. The service was friendly and nice. The atmosphere was peaceful, an oasis full of verdure with a fountain in the middle.

The restaurant is an absolute gem! The food is excellent, with beautifully crafted dishes full of flavor. Service is attentive and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. It’s quiet, cozy, and pleasantly not overcrowded. But the real highlight is the atmosphere: a charming courtyard that feels like a hidden escape, and the upper terrace with a stunning view that makes the whole dining experience unforgettable.

e stumbled upon this restaurant by chance whilst exploring the old town in Granada. We had lunch and were so impressed that we made a reservation for an evening meal a few days later on our last evening. Excellent menu with imaginative vegetarian options. Nice wine list, good service, and lovely location with a fabulous view of the Alhambra.

It was the most tender octopus I’ve ever eaten!!!!!! And the waiter (I should’ve asked his name) was so nice to us. We also had the black rice with squid (also super yummy) and the tomato salad (love tomato season). The palace view was superb as well 🥹 It was so chilled. Loved it and thanks 🙏 btw I visited here in August
Charlotte H — Google review
The food is good but average, the paella is really under cooked. The fish is average, not the best taste and freshness, but can be 4.4/5.0. No service for serving wine nor changing plates. Good view, and nice private atmosphere.
Kayla — Google review
Tucked into the winding streets of the Albacin, far from the bustle of the city center, El Trillo was a lovely find for a calm dinner at sunset. We were seated on the terrace with a beautiful view of the Alhambra. The menu included innovative riffs on classic Andalusian dishes. The Iberian pig cheek was meltingly tender yet rich in taste and the Octopus and boletus risotto beautifully balanced the briny sweetness of the octopus with the earthy tones of the boletus (better known as porcini mushrooms in Italian and English) Service was unhurried but attentive creating a lovely setting for quiet conversation.. Their wine list was thoughtfully curated with a focus on smaller Spanish producers offered more than a few delightful choices. Plan to stay a while to sip a glass of wine, savor the flavors, and bask in the last golden rays of the day!

From El Trillo Restaurante, you get the prime view of Alhambra. Though a restaurant can't trive on views, we found the archetcture of the restaurant was very unique. Upon entering the restaurant, a scented Buddha stature greets you. You can have the garden seating or balcony seatings that can view Alhambra. We chose the latter with the following dishes: Arroz Pulpo, Arroz Negro, and Bacalao a La Plancha. The pan seared cod coupled with fried pumpkins and beans was tender and fresh. To add the flavor, three thinly sliced pork belly (fat) were placed on top of the cod. The octopus risotto and octopus in black rice were something worthy of trying. Personally I like the black rice octopus. The octopus risotto was too rich in butter and cream. The sangria was a little bit too dry and not fruity enough. One final tip is to spread some mosquitoes repellent before you go there. Because while you dine, the buggers will also have their meals.

Lovely restaurant with outdoor romantic setting. Fountains and views or patio with garden. The daily specials are great. Nice wine choices. Not mind blowing but solid regional cooking. I actually did not like their bread but the olive oil was stellar. Caesar was tasty mustard ? non traditional dressing. I had blown out my knee that day so I did a few shots with wine so here ate the pics as details went south!
