Nestled atop the picturesque Sabika hill, the Alhambra stands as a breathtaking testament to Granada's rich history and architectural splendor. This medieval complex, originally constructed in the 13th century by the Nasrid dynasty, showcases an exquisite blend of Islamic artistry and Christian influences following its conquest in 1492. Visitors are captivated by its intricately carved throne rooms, serene cloistered courtyards adorned with fountains, and stunning mosaic tilework that reflects Granada’s iconic style.
A beautiful experience. Like a step back in time. Fantastic gardens, and immaculately maintained parts of the castle are amongst the many things you can visit and experience. Highly recommended to tour it with an audio guide or,better, with a guide! Book well in advance and remember to bring your passports,as they are mandatory to get in and linked to the tickets! 🎟️

Beautiful visit! Take a fan, hat, sunscreen, and definitely water! Be patient and expect a lot of visitors. Best to go early in the morning (less people) and book when you know you're going to this area. We did a guided 3 hour tour. It's detailed information if interested in Alhambra. Otherwise, go on your own for a faster visit and more photo opportunities.
Sunna C — Google review
Check this review if you couldn’t reserve tickets early and still want to go! I was very lucky to get a last-minute ticket. The official website releases some tickets at midnight on the same day of your visit (I found this information on Reddit). I started refreshing the page from 00:00 and got a ticket at 00:27 for €22, including access to the Nasrid Palace. For the Nasrid Palace, you’re assigned a specific time slot. I got the 17:00 slot, which was the last one of the day—they start closing around 17:45. You can enter up to 15 minutes before your time slot. Before getting the official ticket, I was pretty frustrated and noticed that some private tour guides were charging up to €250 the day before, which was crazy! I even saw people at the main entrance trying to sell entry deals to visitors. Anyway, spending almost the whole day there for €22 was totally worth it. There are plenty of places to sit and rest, and drinking water is available. Unfortunately, there are no information signs inside the buildings or along the paths, and they don’t provide an audio guide, so I used GPT to learn about the parts I was curious about.
Chercy T — Google review
Must-see when in Granada. I planned my entire trip around when I could get tickets. Allow 3-4 hours. Recommend starting from the top and moving down to the bottom; be wary of Nasrid Palace entrance time. Can either bus or taxi or walk to the top. We needed our passports and tickets for entry. We spent a few hours in the afternoon and did not find it particularly crowded. Stunning place and you feel like you’re in another world. Buy advance tickets. Next time I would consider an evening tour as it looks like it would be really different.
Mercedes C — Google review
What can I say about the Alhambra? It’s a truly beautiful place, rich in tradition and history. The site wonderfully blends the Moorish spirit with the Christian heritage of Spain, creating a unique cultural harmony. The gardens are breathtaking, and the palaces showcase incredible symmetry and stunning arabesque designs. I fully recommend visiting—it’s an unforgettable experience.
Murillo P — Google review
Amazing bucket-list stuff here. Get an early entry ticket because it will get hot and people-y fast. Take a taxi up to the entrance for 6-10 Euro, then walk the exterior trail afterwards back down the hill to city center. Plan on 3-4 hours minimum to see it properly. Go the last week of September to minimize heat and maximize the beautiful gardens!
Pete S — Google review
Stunning from start to finish. Don't forget to bring the IDs of each visitor for whom you booked a ticket. The visit is divided in multiple parts: one side has the Generalife, a white palace surrounded by beautiful gardens. On the other side is the Alcazaba, the famous red walls towering over the city, and the Nazrid palace, absolutely sumptuous. The gardens on that side are also stunning. The alhambra museum is nice, but not a must. It can be skipped if you are short for time.
Jean G — Google review
Very nice monument, we visited it with a guide and the stories and information provided was very good. If you would just follow the path through the palaces you will be missing a lot of information. The guided tour costs more, but is more than worth it in my opinion. Due to taking the tour with guide we didn't have any queues. The palaces are the most beautifull, but the rest of the complex is also worth it. The generalife gardens are also very beautifull.

The Palace of Charles V is a Renaissance-style residence located within the Alhambra complex. Built between 1526 and 1637, it holds special significance for Charles V, serving as a tribute to his grandparents and symbolizing Catholic dominance in Granada. The grand circular courtyard with its highest colonnade completed in 1619 offers a striking view of the Andalucian sky. Today, the palace houses museums and stands as a reminder of historical power struggles in Spain.
Sensational Renaissance building housed in the Alhambra compound. The outer square is "contradicted" by its circular court with two rows of columns. Phenomenal how the sin casts her moving shadow into the court! The building erected under Charles V houses the Alhambra museum on the ground floor and the Fine Arts Museum of Granada on the upper level. Good experience!
Thomas I — Google review
An impressive Renaissance palace inside the Alhambra complex. The circular courtyard is stunning and unique in design. It houses two excellent museums and offers a peaceful break from the crowds. A must-see for art and architecture lovers visiting Granada!
Jukejmen U — Google review
The Palace of Charles V is a fascinating stop inside the Alhambra complex and such a unique contrast to the surrounding Nasrid architecture. As I walked through its massive stone walls, I was struck by its Renaissance design — so different from the intricate Moorish style nearby, yet equally impressive. The highlight for me was stepping into the circular courtyard at the center. It feels grand and almost theatrical, with perfect symmetry and columns that make for stunning photos. 📸 Standing there, you really sense the ambition and vision of the era when it was built. The palace also houses two museums, perfect for learning more about Granada’s rich history. It’s a peaceful place to wander and reflect before continuing to explore the rest of the Alhambra. A true architectural gem that adds another layer of depth to the experience! 🏛️✨

Restaurant
Restaurante Ruta del Azafrán in Granada offers a unique dining experience with its theme inspired by the spice route and the coexistence of Christian, Muslim, and Sephardic cultures. The restaurant combines Mediterranean flavors with creative touches, offering dishes like Arab chicken pie with carrot salad and sea-bass with courgette and coconut sauce. Nestled in the charming streets of Granada, this culinary gem promises a flavorful journey where traditional Spanish cuisine meets a quirky atmosphere.
This is a great restaurant - staffs were very friendly, foods were well prepared (the shrimp salad tasted so good; the chicken paella in Moorish style was fabulous! The young chicken was so tender yet full of flavors). It was nice and clean inside - and the cool AC really helped in this hot weather:) all the dishes were great (and reasonably priced).

⭐️ 4/5 The only reason this experience doesn’t earn a full five stars is the service—because when it comes to the food, this restaurant delivers excellence on every plate. We stopped in for a quick lunch and ordered modestly: the crispy pork and the seabass with meat sauce. Both dishes were superb. The ingredients were evidently of high quality, each element thoughtfully paired to create a balance of flavor and texture that spoke to the chef’s precision and palate. Even with a limited tasting, it was clear that this kitchen understands harmony and restraint. Unfortunately, the service fell short of the same standard. Despite the restaurant being relatively quiet—no more than four tables occupied—the staff took a surprisingly long time to take our order, forgot our wine entirely, and ultimately left us to walk up to the counter to settle the bill ourselves. It’s a shame, because the culinary experience deserves to be matched by seamless hospitality. Still, I would gladly return for the food alone—it’s that good. With more attentive service, this could easily be one of the city’s standout dining experiences.

The food was very good, the roast pork shoulder and pineapple dessert was impressive, rich and tasty. The only drawback was that the table was not very clean, but the food was satisfactory.

Stopped in for a late lunch after a day of strolling and enjoyed excellent food, great service and a lovely view looking up to Alhambra. Everything we ordered (salads, to steak to the savory pies) was excellent both in presentation and flavor. Worth visiting if strolling around the old city.

This place was amazing! From the views of the Alhambra and old city, to the fantastic food and kind and attentive waiters. I was so impressed by the waiters- watching them run back and forth to the kitchen across the street. They were there before I even had to ask for something. I had the croquettes con jamon and the lamb chops and both were FANTASTIC. Topped it off with some recommended wine and was the perfect way to start my stay in Grenada. Thank you!!

Nestled in the historic Albaicin neighborhood of Granada, El Trillo Restaurante offers a captivating dining experience. The restaurant is set in a renovated carmen, featuring fruit trees and tranquil water sounds, creating an oasis with stunning views of the majestic Alhambra. The culinary offerings at El Trillo are a feast for the senses, showcasing artfully presented Mediterranean dishes that celebrate the rich flavors of Spain.
The food was delicious. We took a red wine that was full of flavour. As the mains, we took the risotto with octopus and bolleto mushrooms, it was the best I have ever eaten, the grilled octopus, and the pork with pumpkin puree. I recommend these dishes. The service was friendly and nice. The atmosphere was peaceful, an oasis full of verdure with a fountain in the middle.

The restaurant is an absolute gem! The food is excellent, with beautifully crafted dishes full of flavor. Service is attentive and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. It’s quiet, cozy, and pleasantly not overcrowded. But the real highlight is the atmosphere: a charming courtyard that feels like a hidden escape, and the upper terrace with a stunning view that makes the whole dining experience unforgettable.

e stumbled upon this restaurant by chance whilst exploring the old town in Granada. We had lunch and were so impressed that we made a reservation for an evening meal a few days later on our last evening. Excellent menu with imaginative vegetarian options. Nice wine list, good service, and lovely location with a fabulous view of the Alhambra.

It was the most tender octopus I’ve ever eaten!!!!!! And the waiter (I should’ve asked his name) was so nice to us. We also had the black rice with squid (also super yummy) and the tomato salad (love tomato season). The palace view was superb as well 🥹 It was so chilled. Loved it and thanks 🙏 btw I visited here in August
Charlotte H — Google review
The food is good but average, the paella is really under cooked. The fish is average, not the best taste and freshness, but can be 4.4/5.0. No service for serving wine nor changing plates. Good view, and nice private atmosphere.
Kayla — Google review
We had such a great time in this peaceful courtyard, surrounded by beautiful plants and the relaxing sound of fountains—it was a treat for both the taste buds and the soul. The food was amazing! We had the wild boar and grilled octopus, and both were super tasty and well presented. You can really feel the love for cooking that Jesús Pernía got from his mom and grandma. The service was also excellent—friendly, warm, and attentive from start to finish. Coming back to try other dishes tonight. There are three different areas to enjoy your meal: the cozy indoor space, the lush garden courtyard, and the terraza with a beautiful view. If you’d like a table with a view of the terraza, we definitely recommend making a reservation in advance—it’s worth it! Thanks so much for the warm hospitality! Lots of love from Ukraine and Romania.

Tucked into the winding streets of the Albacin, far from the bustle of the city center, El Trillo was a lovely find for a calm dinner at sunset. We were seated on the terrace with a beautiful view of the Alhambra. The menu included innovative riffs on classic Andalusian dishes. The Iberian pig cheek was meltingly tender yet rich in taste and the Octopus and boletus risotto beautifully balanced the briny sweetness of the octopus with the earthy tones of the boletus (better known as porcini mushrooms in Italian and English) Service was unhurried but attentive creating a lovely setting for quiet conversation.. Their wine list was thoughtfully curated with a focus on smaller Spanish producers offered more than a few delightful choices. Plan to stay a while to sip a glass of wine, savor the flavors, and bask in the last golden rays of the day!

From El Trillo Restaurante, you get the prime view of Alhambra. Though a restaurant can't trive on views, we found the archetcture of the restaurant was very unique. Upon entering the restaurant, a scented Buddha stature greets you. You can have the garden seating or balcony seatings that can view Alhambra. We chose the latter with the following dishes: Arroz Pulpo, Arroz Negro, and Bacalao a La Plancha. The pan seared cod coupled with fried pumpkins and beans was tender and fresh. To add the flavor, three thinly sliced pork belly (fat) were placed on top of the cod. The octopus risotto and octopus in black rice were something worthy of trying. Personally I like the black rice octopus. The octopus risotto was too rich in butter and cream. The sangria was a little bit too dry and not fruity enough. One final tip is to spread some mosquitoes repellent before you go there. Because while you dine, the buggers will also have their meals.

Day 2

Northwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Mirador de San Nicolás, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Generalife. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Scenic spot

Mirador de San Nicolás is a bustling square situated on an elevated hilltop in Granada, offering stunning panoramic views of the Alhambra. It's renowned for its dramatic sunset vistas and is considered one of the best spots to admire the fortress from afar. The square is located in an old neighborhood and provides unobstructed views of the entire Alhambra, making it a must-visit location.
It’s a good location to view Alhambra, also very busy at evening, everyone has been told this is the best spot to view Alhambra when the lights are on. It becomes more popular because of the South Korean TV romance drama, you can see a lot of East Asian. It’s not a long walk uphill from the busy street, maybe 15 minutes if you are a walker, but it will be challenging if you walk during the day when it is hot. The view is worthy. And it’s free.

This is the spot!!! This is the best spot!!! if you're looking for a viewpoint of Alhambra, this is the one! I've been looking for this spot for a long time, I kept searching, kept mapping on the map to find the exact location and I finally found it. There are no parking space, there is restaurant outside, which they don't let you park there you can just park from down hill and take a walk to the view point.

It’s a small square over a beautiful view of the Alhambra and the mountains behind. There’s usually tourists and people busking. The atmosphere was family and friendly. Beautiful pictures. A few restaurants next door but very expensive. Only good for a drink and the view.

Wonderful view from St Nicolas to see Alhambra. Also Granada city view. It is spectacular. Perfect place to see the landscape and make memories. Take c31 bus from the plaza nazal. You can stake a walk as well which we did in the way back from there to centro but the road was a little slippery so be careful!

Gorgeous nighttime views. The food was delicious and had very generous portions (so much so we ended up ordering too much food). If you want a table at the edge of the balcony, I'd advise you to reserve one like we did. Staff were attentive but didn't rush us through ordering or the meal.

The palaces offer a captivating glimpse into the past with their unique inscriptions, vibrant painted decorations, and an array of beautiful antiques.
without question, the city’s crown jewel — a Moorish palace and fortress with grand archways, delicate mosaics, and views that make you stop mid-step. Give yourself at least 3–4 hours to explore it properly. Wear your comfiest shoes, because you’ll be doing plenty of walking, plus a few stair climbs that are totally worth it for the views. So so lovely. Visited on a lovely hot day. We bought tickets in advance. Make sure you get there for the time stated on your ticket. You may have to wait in a queue but if your not in the queue for your time you may not get in. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE YOUR PASSPORT! No entry without. Would highly recommend you pay for a guide to explain what your looking at. It's lovely, but will mean more with an explanation. It's amazing to see the restoration that has taken place on the site. There a board that shows you what it looked like in the 1920's. Not and expensive visit. A day well spent.

Very beautiful piece of architecture and definitely a must see stop in discovering Andalusia and its history. Worth every penny? Not actually. I wanted to buy a last minute ticket and it was impossible. Tickets were sold out two months in advance and I didn’t know that so didn’t bought them yet. There were some crazy expensive ticket from third hand sellers priced about 120€-180€ per person. DONT BUY THEM. We bought a same day ticket in September (high season) for normal price from official website. They add some tickets at midnight and in the night and sometimes in the morning (9:00) so just refresh the website in the night and don’t buy those overpriced tickets from getyourgide.

Beautiful! You can download the app and listen to it as you roam around. Highly suggest bringing headphones and using your the app over guides! *tour guides will try and confuse you into thinking you need to get a tour through them. Booking with them right when you get there is more money. Unless you really want a guide, it is not necessary. The app has audio that explains it all. For free! Also you get to go at your own pace this way rather than being rushed by a guide.

What a treat. I wasn't that interested, so I went to a company with a friend. We had a "sunset tour" and it was divine. With various pools of different temperatures, steam baths, and relaxing massages, it offers a rewarding experience.
Must visit whilst you are in Granada. We booked the spa and a massage and it was phenomenal. From the start we were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff. You were shown to a waiting area where you could have some tea and were given shoe covers and two towels. Then we were taken in to the changing area and a staff member shown us around. After getting changed you were shown around the different spa areas. From start to finish the experience was tranquil and luxurious. The spa was breathtaking with beautiful Moroccan architecture. The spa was clean and well kept. There was unlimited tea available. The massage was unbelievable. And afterwards, the spa experience didn’t end as the showers even felt like you were in your own spa. The changing areas were amazing. There was many items on offer to use at your pleasure such as body cream, face cream, sprays and deodorant etc. I will definitely be returning and recommending

First, we want to book straight to the website, but it doesn't work ( I don't know why) even though we try many times. Second, the staff are friendly and speak English well. I wish that when we come, they should sit down and tell us what to do or prepare before going inside. Because I thought I would get a massage first and then go for a hot bath or sauna later. So I come straight with my short without no one and wait until I see people wear swimming suit. So that's not good for people come the first time. The massage is okay, with 30 minutes you can't feel enough wow or relax for your body. You should choose the oil you want before they massage( that's in the tea area) I wish they should tell everyone to take a bath first and then massage in the end. Because if you massage and then you come to the bath with oil so that's not good too. From my perspective, they need to train all your staff about the system so it will not be uncomfortable for customers to use their services because the price is not cheap. Otherwise, that is the good place to relax, floating your soul in the hot bath. They have great decorations, 👍quiet, and the water drop make you connect with nature. They have towels, shower 🚿 area, dry hair area.

An absolute gem! The oldest arab baths in all of Spain, right in the hills under Alhambra. Its been 5 days since my visit and I still am full of amazing feeling in skin & hair & spirit. A MUST SEE TO BELIEVE!! Maria was so welcoming and wonderful and it is absolutely unforgettable and impactful! Such amazement for body & mind & soul!! Went with my mother & my daughter so three generations & we all enjoyed so much! The experience is unmatched for all senses, the look is beautiful, the smells are wonderful, the sounds were relaxing and soothing, skin and hair has never been softer!! I wish it was obligatory for everyone to visit as i am sure the world would become more peaceful! Literally one of the best experiences I’ve ever had!! Cant wait to go again & try the massages as well. Photos not allowed inside the baths themselves which i appreciate as there was complete peace and serenity, completely forgot concept of time & took “mental” photos,, its absolutely a must see to believe ❤️ Special thanks to wonderful Maria who welcomed us. Also highly recommend visiting their store afterwards as they got some amazing 100% natural products! Based on 7 emotions and something for everyone.

We went for the weekday 10 a.m. special for two and had a great experience. It was very relaxing — no talking allowed — and I loved the tea and the calming scents. It wasn’t overly crowded, just the right amount of people. The staff spoke both Spanish and English and gave clear instructions throughout. We were a bit worried about the time limit, but they rang a gentle bell at the end to let us know when our session was over. The only downside was the shampoo and conditioner in the shower area, which felt a bit watered down. The shower areas are also really dark so it was a bit hard to see what was shampoo / conditioner / shower gel.

Excellent experience Hammam. Well in there no time or chance to take fotos and please remember to bring your own swimsuit otherwise you can borrow one from the reception. So the massage lady was so nice and the massage was relaxing. Don’t miss it

Spectacular ambiance in a quiet, intimate space decorated with detailed carvings. However for the price paid ($270 USD for 45 minute midra service for myself and husband), I would’ve expected exceptional service. However, we felt rushed to soak in the crowded tubs. It was mostly couples, which was fine because we were a couple, but individuals might feel uncomfortable in displayed affection. The staff spoke basic English, and didn’t explain how much time we had to soak or how we would be called for our massage service, so we were left unknown. There were no clocks in the soaking rooms. Once we were called for service, we were rushed to take a quick shower while being watched by the staff. Finally, we were led to our masseuse. My masseuse barely applied pressure. I wished they asked pressure preferences before beginning the service. I held my tongue until near the end when I braved the courage to ask for more strength. The scrub felt like a gentle rub. The massage felt like applying lotion. There was no release of tension. The experience was memorable due to the novelty of Arabic bath houses, but not worth the price in my opinion.

I went with my 7-year old and we loved every minute here. I booked the 15-min scrub and 15-min massage thinking a shorter treatment would be best for a kid. I didn’t have to worry! The treatment rooms are in an area at the end with open doors to a hallway and families are given rooms opposite each other so you can see each other if you sit up. There are 4 baths and they are as incredible as in the photos. We left feeling so relaxed and rejuvenated. Fantastic experience.
Sofia W — Google review
Overall I thought it was a very good experience, the baths are very nice but it was quite crowded and although the price echoes exclusivity it is not really. I also think it would be better to have set time to allow children as they can disturb the experience. However, I very much enjoyed the Kesha and the massage 💆‍♂️ 😌

The Generalife, an ancient Muslim palace, is renowned for its exquisite ornamental gardens that feature serene pools, charming courtyards, and a riot of vibrant blooms. When visiting Granada, it's essential to dedicate at least three to four hours to explore this stunning complex. If time allows, you can easily spend an entire day marveling at the intricate Moorish architecture found throughout both the Alhambra and Generalife.
Beautiful gardens with stunning views and a lovely scent from the flowers. The gardens are well kept, safe to walk or stroll a pram, and there is one drinking fountain to top up your water bottle on a hot day. Some steps are very deep and hard to climb if you have difficulties, but there are plenty of seats to sit and enjoy if preferred.
Lisa B — Google review
The Generalife is a true oasis of peace and beauty within the Alhambra. 🌺✨ Walking through these historic gardens felt like stepping into a living painting — vibrant flowers, perfectly manicured hedges, and the gentle sound of fountains and flowing water all around. 💧 The views over Granada and the surrounding mountains are breathtaking, especially at sunset, when the whole landscape glows. 🌄 Each corner has its own charm, from the tranquil courtyards to the elegant archways framing perfect photo spots. 📸 It’s the ideal place to slow down, breathe, and soak up centuries of history and artistry, away from the busier parts of the Alhambra. A must-visit for anyone who loves gardens, architecture, and a touch of magic. 🌟

Such beautiful gardens, which are well looked after. Too many people walking through (which includes myself), but the spot was amazing 👏. Thank you for sharing this magical place with tourists.
Jason C — Google review
Beautiful place for a walk. The buldings, fountains and gardens are amazing! There were water points everywhere, so you can fill you bottle every 5 minutes. Good marking, so you see everything.
Alzbeta P — Google review
The Generalife ornamental gardens are truly impressive through their combination of simplicity and strategic placement. Located at the highest point of the Alhambra, they offer many scenic viewpoints over the city and the palace. The symmetrical design creates a calming atmosphere while also serving a practical purpose, providing ventilation and plenty of shaded areas. If you're visiting in the afternoon, I recommend starting with the gardens. You can walk through in about 45 minutes, but for a more relaxed visit with time for photos, plan for 1 to 1.5 hours.

Together with the Palacio de Nasaries, this is also a Must see in Alhambra. It is a garden that only female royal families lived, so very beautifully constructed with artistic gardening. You need to book tickets well in advance. We did 6 months ago. Otherwise cannot see. Takes at least 5-6 hours to see all 4 in Alhambra.
Kate K — Google review
We started our Alhambra visit with the Generalife Gardens. Originally built in the 13th century as the summer palace of the Nasrid sultans, these gardens are simply breathtaking. Surrounded by a variety of plants and trees, you can hear the gentle sound of running water and fountains everywhere. The reflections, the scent of flowers, and the cool breeze create an incredibly peaceful atmosphere. Walking through the paths, with birds singing and water flowing beside you, makes you feel as if time slows down. The small pools and channels beautifully reflect the Nasrid architects’ love and respect for water. A refreshing, tranquil, and truly unmissable place in Granada! 🌿💧🌸
Emil K — Google review
A beautiful garden, perfect for hot and sunny days. As the former summer garden in the Nesferid period, I truly appreciate the many pools and small waterways throughout the garden. It must have been a pleasant location to spend the hottest days of summer there.

Nestled behind a weathered wall in the charming Albaicin neighborhood, El Balcon de San Nicolas SL is a hidden gem that offers an unparalleled dining experience. Perched among the quaint rooftops, this café features plush white sofas on its open-air terrace, providing breathtaking views of the Darro Valley and the iconic Alhambra. The scenery is so captivating that it feels as if the majestic fortress was built solely for patrons of El Balcon.
You definitely come here for the views. Drinks and food are pricey, but makes sense considering the location. We just had some beers, tea, and coffee, and the staff were super friendly. I'd recommend skipping the rooftop and chill downstairs, it’s just as nice and a bit more low-key. Didn’t try the food (saw the prices and passed), but if you keep it simple with a drink or two, it's a great spot

Bar with nice view to Alhambra palace. Food was just okay. Pricey but worth at least one try to enjoy the gorgeous look.

Our favorite restaurant in our whole Spain trip. Wait staff was very kind and hospitable. We immediately got an amazing seat with a perfect view despite having no reservation. The food was delicious - large healthy portions. We have no complaints about this place - it was perfect and we’ll be back!

Staff were super friendly! View was amazing and drinks were very reasonably priced - recommend the sangria. The churros was superb and staff gave us free nibbles and even a pot of extra melted chocolate! Definitely come here to enjoy the amazing view and have some lovely drinks. I couldn’t recommend this cafe enough - the staff went above and beyond in serving us.

today 6 of us visited this restaurant to enjoy a sunset and a view of the Alhambra with a good steak, we ordered a steak that cost 38€ and we refused the pieces of overcooked meat that would have been hard and tough and it was a beef bone with which even a good Kangal would break his teeth because a piece of quality meat was nowhere to be found, avoid this restaurant, save your time and money
Hondo C — Google review
EU4.5 Tinto de Vernon (wine and soda). Worth every cent !! Better views without the crowds above on the Mirador. Relax in a chair and enjoy the sunset. The rest of the menu was pretty pricey so we sipped very slowly and left.

Great place to eat while watching sunset on the Alhambra. We split the cod/bacalao and it was superb.

The view is so magical & unlike the other comments who I’ve seen complaining abt the prices, I think it’s pretty reasonable. The food was tasty so it was worth it. The aubergine dish was recommended to us since it was a Granada specialty but it was the only one we didn’t like. Other than that the service was nice except for that one lady who I think was supposed to be the waiters’ manager. She was glaring all the time & would come around our table & make things awkward. I would say if it wasn’t for the sweet waiters. I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much. Props to them!!! Two Moroccan boys, I noticed that it wasn’t just with us but their communication skills with the other customers was great too. Would definitely recommend. Great experience

Carbon Black is a steakhouse in Granada, Spain with a Mediterranean, European and Spanish flavor. They use the best ingredients to create delicious dishes and their restaurant has a full bar for those who want to enjoy themselves some wine or cocktails. The restaurant is open Monday to Sunday from 13:00-18:00hrs.
Visited with my boyfriend on Sunday 15th February, simply amazing food but the service from the waiter turned a dinner into the full experience. He was so kind and attentive, he carefully explained the menu and suggested what we might enjoy based on our answers to his questions. The food he recommended was absolutely delicious we felt so taken care of and so enjoyed the whole experience- the grilled veg was incredibly fresh and complimented the meat well. Had a gorgeous wine pairing suggested by the waiter and finished with a delicious cheese cake. I would definitely come back. 10/10 and huge thanks to our waiter.

Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant as a group was disappointing. We had a large party and communicated this clearly when making the reservation, but it became apparent that the restaurant was not well-prepared to accommodate us. Communication was difficult—not only due to my limited Spanish, but mostly because of the attitude of the staff. The lady in charge of our table was quite rude. For example, when I asked for water for the entire table and mentioned that some guests might want wine, she immediately started removing the wine glasses in a dismissive way. We had a group menu, which is understandable given our size. The starter and dessert were actually very good. For the main course, we had four options. The steak was excellent, and the other meat dishes were also well-prepared. However, the service was disorganized. One dish was incorrectly entered by the staff, and one guest had to wait a very long time for their meal. When we asked about it, they said they would check—but the issue was never resolved properly. Our friend only received their food after most of us had already finished eating wich resorted in the side dishes that had to be shared where cold. Another guest received a completely different dish than they ordered, but we only realized this too late because of the language barrier. The biggest issue was with the fish dish. While we understand this is primarily a meat restaurant, the way the fish was served was unacceptable—it was not cleaned properly, with scales and even intestines still on the plate. When we brought this up to the waitress, she said she would inform her manager, but we never heard anything more about it. No apology, no compensation, and this happened to four guests who had ordered the same dish. The menu also included coffee, but at 10 PM we were told it was too late to get coffee—even though our reservation was only at 8 PM. One positive note: there was a waitress who spoke a little English and really made an effort, which we truly appreciated. Also, the unlimited drinks (wine, beer, soft drinks, water) were a good deal for the price. Overall, it’s a shame that the service fell so short, because the food—especially the meat—had a lot of potential.

We visited Negro Carbón Albayzín again after having an amazing experience back in January when the food was truly 5 stars. Unfortunately, this recent visit was disappointing-the food quality was not the same and felt like a downward experience. Sadly, we left unhappy and won't be coming back. The stakes were cold and had hard unbeatable fat. 🤨

Our waiter kicked things off with an engaging explanation of the various cuts and types of meat on offer, which added a personal touch to the meal. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and passionate, making the atmosphere welcoming. The star of the show was the Pajuna cow steak—juicy, perfectly cooked, and bursting with rich, authentic flavor. Every bite was a testament to the quality of the meat. The side dishes were also good. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving a top-notch steak experience with great service to match!

Beef stew croquetas + carbon roasted potato were amazing ✨ Beef cheek gyozas were bland (I don’t know why so many reviews recommend it) and the New York steak was just okay - lots of grisel and a little tough. Service was spotty. We were charged 6€ for two units of bread that we did not order (typical in Spain but perhaps decline in advance if you dont want to be charged). All in all, the meal was good not great - but considering this was the most expensive meal we’ve had in Spain, it certainly was not the most exceptional
Dani Y — Google review
My girlfriend and I visited here on a Sunday. We ordered the slow cooked pork cheek, pimientos de padron, sweet potato and grilled leek. All of these dished were warmed up in the microwave. We knew because you could see it in the open kitchen. And once served all dishes were lukewarm. We sent one back to reheat but that did not make it taste much better. We left disappointed and didn’t feel well the next morning. It’s a mystery how this place can have 4,5 stars. Do they have different chefs on different days? Or they know how to trick the rating system? Long story short. I would not recommend this place to anyone. And to the owners: please get rid of the microwave. Fresh ingredients are so good in your country…

Excellent service, excellent food and excellent location if you are staying in Albaycin. I have been on two occasions and both have been very pleasant. The waiters, very knowledgeable about their meats and wines, are always willing to recommend and explain in detail. Even the chef at some point offered us a small tasting as a gesture of gratitude. I will definitely return on my next trip to Granada.

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Albaicín, Estrellas de San Nicolás is a charming restaurant that boasts one of the most romantic terraces in the area. Overlooking Plaza San Nicolás, it offers breathtaking views of the iconic Alhambra and Sierra Nevada, especially enchanting at night from its intimate balcony with just a handful of tables. The venue itself has an inviting ambiance, blending modern decor with rustic wooden ceilings, creating a warm atmosphere for diners.
The restaurant is located in the Albaicín disrict, right next to the Mirador de San Nicolas - so you have a spectacular view of the Alhambra while you eat. The quality of the food is okay. However, it is quite expensive. You have to pay for the view, but hey, it‘s worth every cent! The service was friendly. All in all, we had a great evening in a picture-perfect city!
Chrisse 1 — Google review
There is no doubt the highlight of Estrellas de San Nicolas is the exceptional view of the Mirador from your table. We took the option of sitting right in the window for an unobstructed view while eating, but that privilege comes with an added 10% on your bill. Still, watching the setting sun turn the Alhambra brilliant gold while sipping local wines and consuming good food is an experience. And for us, even with two bottles of decent wine, the cost was very reasonable. The food itself was, as many reviews have stated, good rather than brilliant. We enjoyed it, but probably wouldn’t have come just for that. Service was, however, excellent, allowing us to eat at a slower pace and not feel rushed. A lot of tourists on our night - most speaking English - but the background noise was comfortable and allowed us to easily converse without feeling like everyone could hear us. Nice place, worth the visit.

The selling point of this place really is the beautiful view that it comes with. So we didn't expect much from the food, but everything was very visually appealing. They were delicious as well. I recommend the pulpo with rice (more like orzo), the croquettes, and the salmon. The others were just alright. Also I'd recommend getting something other than the torrijas for dessert. I guess it's fusion, but I just didn't enjoy it as much. Beautiful location! Good service, though it was a bit difficult getting their attention as we were upstairs. Orders also took a while, but that's fine. As long as you're not in a rush.
Maezel C — Google review
Incredible views, but we were the only people in the restaurant this evening which was a shame. We enjoyed the atmosphere from the music in the square. Sadly the food did not live up to the menu and we were both disappointed. The price was way too high for the mediocre flavour and quality of the food. That may be the case with all these restaurants Given the previous reviews it may have been an off night.
Anne B — Google review
of the best in Granada. Yes, prices are a bit high, but you're paying for the location and it's worth it. The food was excellent: the octopus rice was rich and flavorful, and the oxtail stew was perfectly done. Great spot for a special evening.
Nicolas L — Google review
It's a lovely day up in San Nicolas so we decided to have a beer. Nice and cold. The tapas was a version of fish and chips that my partner liked. He is from Estonia. I'm from England. I wasn't impressed. The chips were a cheap version and the fish were from a jar. Not a lot of effort. I just think that places to eat around historical landmarks should try to do better.
Smokin P — Google review
The view of the Alhambra is truly stunning, but sadly the rest of the experience was far below expectations. Service was painfully slow, and the food a real disappointment—poor quality at premium prices. The steak was bitter, burned, and barely edible. What bothered me most was the waiter’s indifference: my polite feedback was ignored without so much as an apology. A beautiful setting ruined by careless execution.
Yesemen S — Google review
Don’t waste your time here. Absolutely mediocre food priced as a high-end restaurant. We ordered a medium well tenderloin, got medium rare; ordered medium angus beef, got well done steak. Sizes of the portions are ridiculous, pretending to be a Michelin star restaurant The service was ok. Can’t complain or praise Cleanliness of the bathrooms 2/5. Countryside gas station level cleaning

Nestled in the hillside quarter of Sacromonte, Venta El Gallo is a charming and intimate venue that offers an all-inclusive experience of transportation, tapas, drinks, and live flamenco. This establishment occupies one of the distinctive blue-and-white cave buildings in the neighborhood and provides a picturesque setting with views of the valley and Alhambra from its roof terrace.
We attended a flamenco show package in Granada that included the flamenco show, dinner, and hotel pick-up and drop-off. The experience was well worth the price, as it combined excellent food, generous portions, and attentive service with a great view of the show. The venue, located inside a cave, created an intimate and unique atmosphere, enhancing the overall experience. The local dishes served during dinner were delicious, and the portions were satisfying. This experience is a wonderful way to enjoy both the culture and cuisine of Granada. Highly recommended for those looking for an authentic evening in Granada.

We had an amazing evening at this flamenco venue! The atmosphere was full of energy and passion, the dancers were breathtaking, and the musicians were absolutely spot on. Very passionate performance at Venta El Gallo. A drink was included and the show was worth seeing. I was thirsty at the end of the show and the lady from the front desk offered me a bittle of water. Thank you all flr this beautiful moment.

5* for the flamenco, just terrific - I only wish the show had been longer. Great guitar, soulful singing and energetic dancing - superb. And the girl (think she was the restaurant owner's daughter) - she was tremendous! Transport to and from our hotel was included in the EUR 62, so that was convenient. We took the dinner option and the food was a little disappointing. Lots of courses, but mediocre - 3.5*. Decent sangria welcome drink and house white wine. It was very loud in the beginning because an earlier show was still on when we arrived for dinner, cutting off all conversation - something for diners to be aware of.

We saw the 9pm show on a Thursday and it took our breath away! This was our first experience with Flamenco and because of this show, it certainly won’t be our last. The performance was one of the most emotionally powerful artistic experiences I have ever had.

Such passion in dance and song watched by many through the screen of their phones. Although in the beginning of the show the crowd was told that only photos were allowed, at least 15 people recorded the show making it distracting for others and an creating additional obstacles to see the artists. I would suggest the owners kindly remind the crowd to not record and just enjoy the show if they see this happening.

We love the fact we live 40 minutes from this place. Going there for. 2-3 day trip or just a single day of skiing is great. However, overall the place is too expensive for what you get. During high season only a small amount of lifts are open and there’s too little diversity for expert skiers. Lift ticket pricing is too high when you factor in parking and rental fees if you need it but service is good, staff is friendly and helpful. Dress warm! Even when the sun shines it’s typically windy at the top.
Morten K — Google review
Obviously a ski resort and not really anything to offer in the summer apart from the view 2000m up. And apparently expensive during the ski season . The mountain road takes a bit of nerve at points and best to concentrate on driving and not looking at the scenery

I live it, have been at least 25 times over 25 years. A gem in the south of Spain. A huge mountain with a prominence so dramatic that it brings the best (sunny) and worst (wind and fog) weather I’ve experienced during my professional skiing career. Friendly people, big (noisy!) parties and many people on weekends guarantee infinite fun. The online ticket purchasing process was possibly designed by George Orwell as inspiration for 1984

Sendero Nuevo Acceso A Los Cahorros Por cauce Rio Monachil is a popular hiking trail near Granada, offering stunning views of mountains and gorges. The circular walk is suitable for all ages and begins with an incline on a tarmac road before leading into nature, with flowing streams and picturesque bridges. Accessible by bus from central Granada, the trail offers various routes of different difficulty levels.
Amazing. Starting it clockwise it is quite boring going uphill in a large unpaved road surrounded by local houses and being hit by the Andalusia sun (yeah, during the winter). As soon as u starts going downhill, u see a beautiful canyon and the landscape changes. U may go a little bit of route, choosing narrow paths to shortcut the main trail for extra fun (I used AllTrails for this). And it gets better when u get by the river, some little surprises on every corner since the landscape keeps changing. And u may eat at El Puntarron at the end.
Alexandre L — Google review
Great hiking trail. Kids loved it. There is plenty of shade, at least in the part that follows the river. There was plenty of water even in July and lot of opportunities to cool yourself down.

This trail was a fantastic experience for our family! It offered a medium challenge—just enough to keep things fun and adventurous without being too difficult for the kids. We enjoyed stunning scenic views, peaceful streams, and a beautiful canyon that was definitely a highlight of the walk. There were plenty of spots to take breaks, have a snack, and soak in the surroundings. A truly enjoyable and memorable outing for families who enjoy a bit of adventure. Highly recommended!

I had a lot of fun on this trail, but like many others I’ll say that I was disappointed by the lack of signage. In many places, information was covered in graffiti or worn down with time. It would be really nice if there could be a clear path markers along the route, not just the signs with arrows, pointing this way on that. Given that the paths branch out at various points, it’s not always easy to tell which way the actual route goes. Other than that, I did enjoy the experience! Fortunately, the weather was great and I didn’t mind being sort of lost most of the time.

Lovely circular walk for anyone visiting nearby Granada or elsewhere. It’s a very causal hike & trail meaning it is suitable to all, from the old to the children. It begins as an incline on tarmac road then leads you in pure nature where there’s flowing streams of mountain water beneath you and towering trees above. Along the trail there’s small bridges across streams which are very picturesque. The summit at the top is incredible, the pictures and videos just do not do it justice. The route is well signposted. Going up it took us an hour at a very casual pace and the way down is half the distance completing the loop, again well signposted. We took a taxi from Granada as it was two of us and left around 9am, the ride was 15 minutes and cost around 20 euros each way. There are small cafes at the start where we had breakfast when we completed the walk.

Beautiful hike with amazing views! We took the bus from Granada to Monachil, then continued to this Maps pin, then started on the left of the roas through the River path. This goes on through the "cave" and it's relatively easy, but with some narrow areas. Maybe we took a different route somewhere because we missed the aquaduct and waterfall, but it was still amazing. When the path goes away from the river after the cave, you can start returning following the yellow circular route, on the dirt road on the hills. It is a reasonably steep ascent without shade, so make sure to have enough water and energy, but the views of the mountains and valley at the top make it totally worth it! Also saw some mountain goats on the way, and the quiet of the area is priceless. The whole trip took us about 4-5 hrs with some stops along the way, coming back to Monachil at 6-7pm.

A lovely trip. Suitable for families with children who know how to walk or in a baby carrier. A circular route of about 4 km. Some steep ascents and descents. Full of water, walking along the river. Full of places where you can jump for a cool dip. Stunning waterfall, suspension bridges and charming views. The village of Monachil is beautiful. recommended!
Smadar N — Google review
Lack of information to follow, the best clues are the worn paths and just follow your nose. The climbs a few meters up with very few level areas...get ready for a trek. Worth noting, once you cross the large span bridge that this area is popular with rock climbers and the path here is only 3 or 4 foot wide so if you wish to pass through you could be passing under them as they ascend , THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED & IS BAD PRACTICE.

The Museo Cuevas del Sacromonte, also known as Centro de Interpretación del Valle del Darro, is a unique cultural museum located in Granada, Spain. It offers a fascinating insight into the history and daily lives of the cave dwellers who lived in Sacromonte over a century ago. The museum features ten reconstructed caves that serve as typical homes and workshops, showcasing traditional crafts such as wickerwork, metalwork, weaving, and ceramics.
An amazing historical insight into the lives of the local civilization. Living in well designed caves with their ability to survive. Extremely worthwhile the visit. Be prepared to walk a good distance to find the sight which in itself is part of the adventure while soaking up the local environment.
Ivan L — Google review
This is a beautiful place, and it is worth the uphill walk for three reasons: 1. It is the best way to learn about the history of the Sacromonte and its caves. 2. The views going up are amazing. 3. You get to know more about gypsies and flamenco. I am giving 4 stars because it is not accessible for people who have trouble walking because the way is very steep, and it can be dangerous to share the road with cars, bikes, and scooters. Besides that, this place is amazing and we recommended. It gives you a break from churches and castles. The kids enjoyed it so much.
Javiera M — Google review
I really liked this museum that helps give a glance of how people lived in the cave houses. There are houses or rooms that served to keep some animals indoor and help heat the small house where a family lived. There are also other rooms for Flamenco dancing and entertainment, blacksmith, basket weaving, loom for cloth making among other functions. Gypsies "Gitanos" lived here. There has been a large Gypsy community that has lived in this area for centuries. There is a small bar where you can but refreshments, water and beer here. There are restrooms for men and women. If you get a chance it's worth going to see this. There are incredible views of the Alhambra from across the valley. It is only €5 per person to enter. The #34 Small red city bus vans will take you all the way up to base of the hill where you will then have to walk up a pathway to get to the museum. I really did enjoy it. The museum is open till 8pm. Not sure if the hours change during the year. There are nice little neighborhoods close by with restaurants etc. Really nice area with nice views.

Loved this place. Spent about 2 hours here. So much information about cave people and their history, all inside caves! Highly recommend. Also recommend walking there- it’s a lot and uphill but gorgeous views. And then you can take the c34 back to town.
Erin D — Google review
Great museum with 11 caves to visit and lots of very interesting information (to read or to listen to via audio guide) about the caves and their inhabitants, the history behind them, the ecology of the surroundings, caves in other parts of the world etc. Great views. Nice staff too. Very good price. A must-see!!

Very interesting museum! Highly recommended. Great view at the Alhambra. The only downside: 30 minutes before closing time, the bar was already closed 😢 Everything else was great 😁👍🏼
Kayser H — Google review
Well written signage in both Spanish and English throughout the museum, covering local history, ecology, geology, etc. Excellent views of the Alhambra. The walk from town is a great experience in itself. Fairly quiet too, which was a relief after visiting many busy tourist sites. Nice, clean bathroom.

We went here on the 24/7/2025 and spent many hours here. The staff were incredibly helpful. The exhibition itself was very good, with information in Spanish and English, and easy to follow. Really enjoyable insight into gypsy culture and cave life. Thank you!

Abadía del Sacromonte is a serene 17th-century abbey situated on Mount Valparaíso, offering underground chapels, guided tours, and breathtaking panoramic views. The abbey holds significance in Granada's festive calendar with events like the procession honoring the patron saint San Cecilio and the famous procession of the Christ of the Gypsies during Holy Week.
It's really unique and beautiful. A lot of area to explore, most interesting one is the cave inside the Abbey A free audio guide (via download to your phone) with the entrance ticket purchase. The car park area offers great view of Alhambra. It's recommended to reach with public bus c34. Please check the visiting hours from the official website before coming to the Abbey. As we all know, there's mid day break culture in Spain (siesta).

Great off the beaten track place to see, 7€ entrance and is very interesting while the staff are very helpful! The small town below is worth a visit too, call and see the flamenco show in the cave too if you are there later in the day!

A pleasant visit with a worthwhile audio tour on the free app. It is great that the Abby provides WiFi to download the app. An interesting museum, caves and artwork. I walked to the rear of the compound and saw the horrific damage to the new wing caused by a fire in 2000.

It's an interesting place, free wifi and app will allow you listen in your own language as you walk from room to room which are numbered. If you are tall mind your head in the caves.
Rory K — Google review
The Sacromonte Abbey was not easy for us to reach on foot. We took the C34 bus, which fortunately ran rather frequently. We arrived at 13:18, and a lady was already at the door preparing to close it for the 14:00-15:00 break. Luckily, she let us in before closing. Unfortunately, the couple behind us walked straight to the viewing point and missed the entrance. We were advised by the lady to start at Point #15 and visit the holy caves first, listening to the audio at home (???), as we wouldn't have enough time. We found the advice a bit odd and pondered how we could understand what we were seeing without the audio guide. The abbey was quite interesting and modestly constructed, which perhaps reflected the monks' lifestyle. The holy caves were pretty interesting and special. However, we did not feel that there was a lot to see for €6. The view of the Alhambra in the distance was nice, but it would have been nicer if it had been less sunny - an external factor. I would have given a 4-star rating if the service at the ticket desk was more professional.

A superb visit. I recommend it if you are in Gránada and are fond of religious art and baroque art. It is a steep walk up, but you can also easily access it by bus or by taxi.

If you’re already visiting the cave museum, I recommend stopping here as it’s close by. you get an audio guide for your phone and it tells you about it. It was mediocre until you got to the underground chapels jn caves which was really cool.

Beautiful gem of an attraction a 40 minute walk from downtown Grenada. Very quiet when we visited on a Wednesday morning in October, a welcome difference to the Alhambra crowd. The walk through Sacramonto is worth it as well.

El Huerto de Juan Ranas, La Terraza is a charming restaurant located in an old restored carmen with stunning views of the Alhambra. It offers a diverse menu featuring Andalusian and Arabic fusion dishes made with high-quality ingredients. The restaurant has both a rustic dining room and a spacious terrace where guests can savor Spanish classics like patatas bravas and rabo de toro while enjoying regional wines.
I was honestly a bit worried about coming here after reading some review, however I can honestly say that this restaurant is a MUST for one of your dinners in Granada. If possible, I recommend paying extra for the front row tables as the view is extraordinary. I would also recommend arriving around 30 mins before sunset so that you can appreciate both the sunset and the night view of the Alhambra. Our server, Gabi, was very friendly and attentive! I did not notice a long wait for food like the other reviews and it was a very full Friday night. The food was very tasty, would recommend the arroz negro paella!
Simon L — Google review
Again, I didn’t research any spots — I just followed our guide’s recommendation. Alas, it’s not a place I would have picked voluntarily. Anyway, at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, we showed up without a reservation and explained that we’d like to have a few drinks and something small to eat for about half an hour while enjoying the view of the Alhambra. By the way, we are well-dressed, well-behaved tourists who speak English fluently. We immediately asked for a table with the best view and were told those were reserved. We were offered a second-row table that wasn’t preset, but that’s not what we wanted, so we insisted on one of the “premier” tables. We were still refused—until we noticed that one of those tables wasn’t preset either, at which point we finally got it. We’re used to slower service than in the US, so we ordered drinks right away and got them quickly. The gazpacho was delicious, as was the tomato salad with tuna. We did expect a bit more in terms of local dishes, but at that moment the selection was different. As we were informed, the restaurant changes its menu quite often, so don’t expect to see the exact same dishes you find in Google reviews. The point of my review is this: I don’t understand why servers/managers give attitude to paying customers. Isn’t that their source of income? Especially when customers from the US tend to tip differently. Rude service will only drive away potential customers, even if the restaurant has the best view of the Alhambra.
Y R — Google review
This is THE best restaurant to watch the sunset over the Alhambra. We didn’t pay for the front row table but got an awesome view regardless. Service was great, drinks were good, we had the burrata (10/10), grilled vegetables (10/10 and seafood paella (7/10). Make sure to make a reservation!
Claire S — Google review
We booked our table in advance and even paid a bit more for a reservation with a view — and it was absolutely worth it! The service was incredible, and the food was delicious. I was a bit worried after reading some negative comments, but most of them were only about the prices. Yes, it’s a little expensive, but that’s expected for such a beautiful location and excellent service. Everything was totally worth it, and it’s also pet-friendly, which made it even better. We would definitely visit again!
Dominyka J — Google review
Absolutely terrible. I paid €100 for 2 glasses of normal white wine and 2 sub standard burgers. Service was below standard also. We had to call the waiter over to order our food. Burger came on greaseproof newspaper - I was back eating school dinners again. I guess this place caters for an American market and that’s about it. Even had to rip my own ketchup and mayo out of a packet. My wife and I had just done a four hour hike and we were absolutely starving. Usually when you are that hungry, anything tastes good, but this didn’t even taste that great. Can’t believe my wife and I dressed up for this. We should’ve kept our dusty hiking boots on.
HSM — Google review
Came here for the sunset view of Alhambra. Ordered gazpacho and squid and it was delightful. Also had sangria and another drink. Prices were on the high end but understandably so for the location and view.
Ryan M — Google review
We made a reservation in advance for the front-row seats at sunset which cost €15/pax. We originally intended to just go for drinks but ended up staying for dinner too… Pros - All the food ordered was delicious and good quality. We had the Iberian Ham, the fresh bread with olive oil and croquettes - The view is incredible and the atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner Cons - You will be constantly bothered by multiple wasps whilst trying to eat your dinner which is quite annoying - we asked the waiter for no nuts on the ham whilst ordering. When the ham arrived it had nuts on the plate so we explained we had a nut allergy so needed a new plate. The waiter just walked away with the ham and in plain sight used a spoon to take a nuts off before returning with the plate. So we had to then explain that due to cross contamination and a serious nut allergy we needed a new plate… so be aware if you have some allergies!! - the Aperol Spritz were a bit hit and miss, we had one perfect one and two not-so-perfect ones as too much aperol had been added

Carmen de los Mártires is a stunning 19th-century estate that invites visitors to explore its beautifully landscaped gardens, complete with enchanting statues and fountains. Spanning seven hectares on the picturesque Sabika hill, adjacent to the iconic Alhambra, this park features diverse areas such as a French Baroque garden centered around a grand pond with a Neptune statue, and the Palm Garden adorned with an impressive three-tiered fountain.
A beautiful park! Has lot to explore: fountains, landscaped gardens etc. It is located not too far from the Alhambra exit but surprisingly with very few visitors. A real hidden gem of Granada. The highlight is to see the peacocks spreading their feathers! You can sit in the bench and enjoy the panoramic view the Granada and Sierra Nevada mountains in quiet! A not to be missed place if you are visiting this city.
Claire A — Google review
A beautiful garden perfect for an evening stroll. Located close to the Alhambra entrance/exit, and had surprisingly few visitors even on a weekend evening. I suppose it is a lovely little hidden gem at least for tourists. The gardens are reasonably well maintained for a free tourist attraction. There are fountains, engraved plaques with Spanish poetry, a small building (part of a palace perhaps) to marvel at, as well as bathrooms and potable water near said building. Undoubtedly, one of the highlights were the peacocks strolling about. Not much signage in English, or at all, but there was some information displayed about the origins of this park (as a tribute to the Christian martyrs capture under Islamic rule and invasions).
Shivani P — Google review
A beautiful park with plenty of walking paths. It is also a great spot to catch the sunset! We also saw peacocks wandering around. It is free to enter.

What a magical and dreamy place – absolutely stunning! It felt like stepping into a fairytale. We were truly blown away!
Anita P — Google review
I first gave a one star review because yesterday when I showed up here at 6 pm, we were told that because of a private event the gardens were closed. There was no information whatsoever about any private functions available anywhere. This is particularly frustrating after you have made your way all the way to the top of the hill only to find out that you cannot visit the gardens. However this morning I tried again and it is really worth it. Especially when it’s quieter and there are a few people around the gardens are such a blissful place. Just wandering around and enjoying the views, admiring the fountains and reading the poetry is so rewarding. Plus, it’s free. So you’re most likely to have success going in the mornings or going during the week in the evenings.

Puerta de la Justicia is one of the four entrance gates to the Alhambra, featuring a large and imposing structure with a horseshoe arch. It provides access to the Palace of Carlos Quinto and offers visitors the opportunity to explore various areas within the complex, including the Nasrid Palaces. To avoid crowds, it's recommended to arrive early in the morning and make use of pre-booked tickets for a smoother entry experience.
It’s the free way to go inside of palace. For some place of course you need to pay but if you don’t want or if you can’t find a ticket this free option is gonna help you to discover tiny part of palace!

This is free but if you want to do any of the paid sites (palace, alazacbar, generallife) you need to book at least 2 MONTHS in advance. Our tour with viator was cancelled and we could only get walking for the free public areas. To be fair this was a good tour. Only 6000 tickets a day
Andy A — Google review
Passed this way going to the Alhambra. Its a good walk up the hill but once inside the Alhambra its fairly flat. We walked a lot that day. We found no issues with finding toilets as others have mentioned for the Alhambra. It is a must do if in Granada. My top tip would be the cafe terrace behind the hotel. We had a very nice lunch there and its a great view across to the Generalife. Not expensive either.
Julian B — Google review
Great architecture. It is the entrance for those with tickets taken online.
George L — Google review
The Puerta de la Justicia is an absolutely stunning way to begin your journey into the Alhambra. This massive gate feels like a grand welcome into another world. The stonework and detailed carvings are breathtaking, especially the iconic hand and key symbols, which add a touch of mystery and legend to the experience. As you walk up the path toward the gate, the atmosphere is magical — you can almost imagine what it must have been like centuries ago, with guards watching from above and nobles passing through. The gate itself is incredibly well-preserved, and its sheer size is awe-inspiring. Standing here, surrounded by history and beautiful views of Granada, set the perfect tone for exploring the wonders inside the Alhambra. A must-see landmark that deserves a few quiet moments of appreciation before continuing your visit. 🌟
G J — Google review
This is the gate to enter if you want to start at Nasrid Palaces and have timed tickets. Taxi or uber can drop you off right outside 5 minute walk to entrance.
Nikki J — Google review
The Alhambra was always on my bucket list and rightfully so. The beauty and detail of this place goes above and beyond your wildest imagination. Purchase tickets in advance and I would also recommend setting your entrance time for the earliest available. We were not there for the sunset, but have heard the fortress is breathtaking around those hours as well.

Nestled in the heart of Granada, the Fundación Rodríguez-Acosta is a captivating testament to the artistic vision of painter José María Rodríguez-Acosta. Constructed in 1914, this stunning mansion showcases an exquisite blend of ornate gardens and unique architectural features that reflect his aesthetic ideals. Unlike many private carmens in the Albayzin neighborhood, this enchanting site welcomes visitors through guided tours, allowing them to explore its dream-like beauty and intriguing medieval escape tunnels that form a labyrinthine experience.
We visited this place from the combined ticket with the Alhambra. We didn’t realize how special this place was. The house was built in unique style from the neighbors but reflects the combination of Greek and Roman styles. The area is serene and tranquil. The view on Granada city is panoramic. Olivia, our guide, is kind and very informative. She did not only provide the insights of the mansion but also about the city and places to visit. We were so lucky to have like a private tour, almost an hour in the estate by only our family. Really a good place to visit beside the Alhambra palace.

What a beautiful home and gardens of this Spanish artist. So much thought went into the design and planning of the spaces. Entry is 5€ for the guided tour. Olivia, our guide, provided so much information about the building, the artist, and his life. There are more areas available to see at certain times (underground spaces and the library). The gardens have many statues, some created for the home, others older. Very beautiful views out over the city. Because tours are guided, consider booking tickets to know your start time. We just happened to show up 5 minutes before the last tour of the day. April 7, 2025 C & J

We had a great time here, our tour guide Álvaro is very knowledgeable and happy to share his experience surrounding the Foundation itself, art history, architecture, philosophy and culture in Granada. He also speaks great English! This was a really nice complement to the visit to the Alhambra; seeing a different architectural style from another period in Granada is interesting, and having a small tour group (with a great guide) and experiencing the tranquil surroundings of the Foundation as Jose María intended is certainly different from the big crowds at the Alhambra. We were originally not sure about adding the Foundation to our itinerary but now it is one of the highlights of our visit in Granada. Thanks again Álvaro!

Travelled down from Valencia to checkout the sites of southern Spain. We heard about this when we got our Alhambra tickets… and thought why not?! What a pleasant little surprise to happen upon us. The gardens and villa were gorgeous… Álvaro and Cristina gave a wonderful tour and also took the time to recommend some restaurants and other sites to check out in the city. Unfortunately we toured during the week and the studio and library were closed. If you can visit on the weekend.

I have seen the gardens and some art on the inside. It’s a nice trip up the hill and some minutes of discovery. It’s a nice thing to do if you couldn’t make it to Alhambra due to unreasonable ticketing over there. But in my opinion it lacks color. The architecture is very curated and tells a story of what it wants you to see and what would be hidden. But where is the soul of the structure? It seemed so empty.

Tours are on the hour, €5 per person for an hour tour. Access is only allowed with a tour. A stunning mix of Christian, Arab and Roman architecture. Alvaro did a great job explaining the history and use of this 20th century building and terraces. !! Absolutely worth the time!!

My friend and I got the free tickets on fridays and were surprised that it even included a guided tour! Stunning views, architecture and gardens! Our guide Cristina was very informative and helpful, explaining everything and taking photos of us at the nicest spots! I loved the museum, I wish we could have spend a little bit more time there, great collection, even some paintings by Pacheco, Zurbarán and Sorolla! All in all an amazing experience :)

I cam across the doundation a bit randomly after visiting the garden of Carmen de los martires. It was an very good surprise, the house and the gardens are beautiful. If you areinterested in architecture I highly recommand visiting. The guides are super nice and will answer all your questions during the tour ! The 1h tour is for the gardens, you need to book a 2h tour in order to visit the whole building !

Andalusian restaurant
Spanish restaurant
Damasqueros is an award-winning restaurant in Granada, named after the Syrian craft of damascening. Chef Lola Marin's creative Andalusian cuisine is showcased through an eight-course tasting menu that reflects the contemporary innovation in Granada's gastronomy scene. The menu features dishes such as aubergine with sardine and miso, succulent lamb gizzards with bulgur wheat, and girolle mushrooms in garlicky maimones broth.
This has been one of the highlights of our trip to Spain! What a nice hidden gem on a cold, rainy day in Granada! Every plate was an incredible experience of flavours and pairings I would not have imagined go well together. The servings may look small, but you will leave VERY full! This also gave us the energy to climb up all the stairs on our way back to the Alhambra! It is about a 12 minute walk.

Excellent service, friendly staff with great knowledge of the dishes. The food was delicious and very creative. There was so much variety and it felt like it would keep coming! We were very satisfied.

This is a high end restaurant about 10 minutes walk from the town centre. The whole experience was great from beginning to end. Naturally the tasting menu gave ample opportunity for the kitchen to be creative with both ingredients and presentation; both were delivered to a high standard. A special point of note was that we required 2 substitutions because my wife has a mollusc allergy. This was handled without fuss and the replacements were wonderful. We were really pleased we went for the wine flight. The pairings were initially bemusing but challenged us to understand how the Spanish traditions of Sherry style winemaking is much more integrated with food rather than just aperitivi and digestivi. So we probably drank wines we would never have chosen and learned from the process. There were also two conventional wines, a white and a rosé, that were exceptional. The staff are attentive and very customer centred. When we asked to slow the pace of dishes arriving, the response was perfect. A fantastic restaurant.

What an amazing experience!! Cannot recommend highly enough. We had a 10 course (inc. 2 dessert) course tasting dinner with spectacular wines. Service was really great, food was outstanding.

Stunningly delicious multi course meal. Each course was beautifully presented and unique and described in detail by our knowledgeable and kind waiter. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys exquisitely executed food with top quality quality ingredients. Fantastic value for money.

Hidden on a sidestreet, this restaurant offers a fantastic set menu for a very reasonable price. Cream is the name of the game there. Beetroot cream in starters. Mushroom cream in mains. Pumpkin cream in the dessert. Also, a few surprises like salted tuna: I was expected either raw or seared, but not salted. We could visit just one restaurant in Granada. We chose this one. And we happy we did.

We had a lovely dinner at Damasqueros. The service was excellent even though we don't speak Spanish. The food was beautiful and very tasty. Our favourite was pork with violet potato. Wine pairing was very nice too.

Fantastic, imaginative mini degustation menu served as standard to all diners from one of Granada’s leading female chefs. You can swap out any dishes you don’t like so my wife swapped salmon for duck foie gras and both were great. As foodies we thought it was a very good meal and more than worth the money. About one third the price of an equivalent restaurant in London.

Restaurant
Maria de la O Restaurante is a top-floor dining spot located in the Memoria de Andalucia museum, offering unparalleled views and beautifully presented plates of New Basque Cuisine. Chef Chechu Gonzalez leads the kitchen, serving up modern twists on local Granada cuisine. The restaurant is known for its impeccable presentation and fantastic service. While some diners found the tasting menu to be a highlight, others felt that certain dishes didn't match the quality of the first courses.
This place is truly exceptional! If you want to have a unique and gourmet fine finding experience then this is it! We had the tasting menu and their foods are not like anything you can imagine! We also had wine and it was so good !! Their service is also amazing. I can’t believe this was only 75E per person! And we were there for almost 2.5 hours. Not sure how they make any profit. In the USA I would have had to pay $600 Plus at least per person for this kind of dining experience.

I am a Korean guest who dined at Maria de la O a few days ago, and I can confidently say that the meal was not only the best in Granada but one of the finest experiences I’ve had in all of Spain. The food was impeccable, the ambiance of the restaurant was beautiful, the wine pairings were well thought out, and above all, the staff were exceptionally professional, courteous, and truly passionate about what they do. I have visited several Michelin-starred restaurants in Barcelona, but none of them came close to the experience I had at Maria de la O. It was more than just a meal—it was a memorable and inspiring experience. I sincerely thank the wonderful team at Maria de la O for providing such excellence. If anyone is considering a reservation, I wholeheartedly recommend it. Even from faraway Korea, I will continue to support Maria de la O. Thank you.

The highlight of our culinary experience in Granada. We tried the tasting menu and the seafood courses and the duck were exceptional (the one lamb course was not quite to the same level). The wine paring was a revelation of local Andalusian wines and well paired with the food. We’d highly recommend.

We were tired of getting into “tourist traps” for dinner and wanted some place that serves the taste of local produce and cuisine. Yes, this was fine dining, but an amazing opportunity to taste the local food and wine. Before I go into the dishes- their tasting menu has a lot of dishes!! You’ll be full at the end of it. All dishes were great. Great service and highly recommend this place. Appetizers- all great options. Partridge fritter had an amazing texture on the outside. Amazed at the tomato juice one as it was so mild but yet powerful with the capers in it. Main courses- Beans with cod- hard to imagine Lima beans used in the soup. The cod soaks in the juice which is a great pairing. It had some kind of herb oil drops on it. Octopus- my only gripe was that the paprika in the soup wasn’t cooked which makes the soup extremely spicy. If the spice is tempered in oil before the broth is added, it should have a nice and toasted flavor. Duck breast with anchovy- Amazing! Green pepper sauce and snapper- the sauce blew my mind. I never thought of butter and padron peppers as such a killer combination. Fish was perfectly cooked with a crispy skin. Pickled corn soup- the soup itself was amazing and unique. Chef to think about whether some seasoning to avocado can improve the flavor. Desserts- 1- Croissant and loquat- perfect combo. 2- cherry and almonds- the textures were great. Nibbles- 1. Cherimoya - it’s a fruit with a very subtle flavor. I don’t think I got it at all. 2. Acid mandarin- again, I couldn’t taste the mandarin. 3. Mango chocolate- I would skip the milk chocolate inside and fill the cup with mango custard. 4. Beets and white chocolate- amazing!

I had a fantastic experience here. The service was impeccable and friendly. The concept of building a dish on the base of a sauce is interesting and was executed excellently. I would highly recommend eating here!

We had the tasting menu, and it was an experience I will never forget. His flavor profiles and creations were spot on. You do not want the evening to end. The service was professional, and she made the evening very enjoyable.

Fantastic food - Compliments to the chef and wonderful service. Leo was absolutely great and very attentive. Highly recommend the tasting menu. We were celebrating our anniversary and had a fabulous time. The only thing that took us by surprise was the that on the website and when booked we were told the menu was 59€ but then the bill arrived with 65€ instead. Not a problem or an issue at all, but I’m not a big fan of sudden surprises of this kind. We will definitely revisit to try the 9 course tasting menu.
