Castell de Guadalest is a charming destination with a lovely town at the bottom offering cafes, restaurants, and shops. The castle itself offers a worthwhile experience for a small fee, featuring a beautiful house and breathtaking views from the top. Visitors can also explore the quaint town with its museums and 18th-century Spanish home. The surrounding mountain and valley views are stunning, as is the turquoise reservoir below. Additionally, there are plenty of small restaurants and shops to enjoy in this picturesque village.
This place and the castle are very beautiful and the view is really nice! The entrance fee is 4 euro and the parking fee 2 euros! Nice place to visit, we can recommend.

Super views from the castle. A photogenic little place and was not too overcrowded in September. Plenty of small eateries to grab a drink and relax. A few small quirky museums to visit also for a couple of Euros.
Harry G — Google review
Very nice views. Visit of season recommended, we've been there in October and working day,and still a lot of people, but managable To the castle it's €4 / person, but worth it. It's possible to walk around without paying a fee. Snalll kids playground around

If you visit Spain, have a car, are close to Altea or Benidorn and you like to see beautiful nature and an old village, Guadalest is a must. It changes from the beautiful coastal villages, offers beautiful views, shops, cafes in a less crowded village. A great place to spend 2-3 hours. If you can, avoid the parking that brings you to the bottom of the hill. Arriving at 2:30 to 3pm offers nice sun exposition on the lake and more available parking at the level of the street.
Mario B — Google review
This is a lovely area in the Mountains above Benidorm, the Village of Guadalest is beautiful, the Castle/ Castell is high on the hill! It is 23 Euros entry per Adult and is 250 steps which takes about 25 minutes to get to the top! The View from the top looks down on the reservoir and of the surrounding mountains! There is parking in the village below but gets very busy, we visited in October 2025.
Stephen M — Google review
Truly a gem, love it !! Visit the castell museum since have all the veird "nobelmans/lanlords" pictures and equipments. Prepare yourself for a colder and windy weather (jacket). Get to the end of the town (50m ) and you can see "mirador" :) The "castell" is small 2-3hour more then enough. U.might heading to "Falls- Fontes" D'Algar
Zsolt B — Google review
worth to visit, for adults 4 euro and for kids 2 euro. It has a nice view on lake, as well as surroindings. You can climb to top of the castle, and available for sightseeing. In the castle, there old furnitures and you can feel the medieval age. Village itself good as well.

The Museu Microgegant is a captivating museum that showcases the transformation of small objects into larger ones. It is an incredible display of craftsmanship and ingenuity, with intricate details found in even the tiniest pieces of art. The museum offers an affordable entry fee, making it accessible to all visitors. The atmosphere within the museum is truly amazing, providing an unbelievable experience for those who visit.
as many people wrote in comments, the museum is indeed quite small, but we’ve never regretted coming here. i think the idea is very special, and each piece of art actually adds up to one bigger picture, so I really enjoyed discovering all the small details. the lady at the entrance was really welcoming, and she even gave us a small tour to explain the artist’s idea. there is another partner-museum a bit closer to the castle, so you can buy one ticket to visit both of them.

Nestled in the stunning mountainous region of Xorta, just a short drive from Benidorm, lies the charming village of Castell de Guadalest. This picturesque locale is surrounded by breathtaking vertical rock formations and lush terraces adorned with almond, orange, and olive groves. Among the many dining options available in this enchanting area, Xortá Restaurante stands out as a must-visit spot.
Lovely meal! We had different menu del día options and my lamb was particularly good. The restaurant is very attractive inside and the views are spectacular. Service was friendly and efficient.

We had a very good lunch here, this week 💕 We were 4 adults and 2 small children, and we felt really welcome. The waiters were so friendly and helpful. The restaurant is beautiful, and well equipped. Free parking in front of the restaurant. We chose typical food from the area, and it held top quality, all of it. The prices are reasonable. An extra bonus: The view from the restaurant is breathtaking! Thanks for a wonderful meal, we'll come back as soon as possible! 💕

Restaurant Xortá pleasantly surprised us from the very start. The food was truly delicious — you can tell that the dishes are made with care and high-quality ingredients. We especially enjoyed the beautiful location: if you reserve a table, you can take in the stunning views from the window. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, particularly when it came to accommodating children. I highly recommend this restaurant for family lunches or dinners, especially if you're looking to enjoy beautiful scenery and great food!

Unfortunately we can't give 7 stars, but what a nice and delicious restaurant! Honest food made with love (and for the mash potatoes a lot of garlic😋😋). Very friendly staff and nice location just outside Guadalest. And the view is stunning! Will definitely come back here!

Guadalest Reservoir is a stunning Spanish destination known for its emerald-green waters and picturesque surroundings. Visitors can enjoy various water sports, swimming, and breathtaking views. Accessible by car, the reservoir offers panoramic vistas from both the top of the village and ground level. However, it's advisable not to leave valuables in the car park due to security concerns. The area is ideal for a peaceful retreat, offering quiet spots to relax and unwind amidst beautiful landscapes.
Great place to visit, stunning views!

Parked at the dam for free. Managed to get a space but it can get busy. We walked to the Kayak place which took around an hour. Went for a swim - water shoes are recommended! Then continued the loop round back to the car which took around an hour 20 minutes. Quite hilly, some parts shaded, lovely views!

⭐ 5/5 Guadalest Reservoir is a stunning spot for a peaceful day out 💙. The turquoise water, mountain views, and surrounding nature make it perfect for relaxing and unwinding. Bring everything you need for a picnic—there are no shops or cafés nearby, so come prepared with food, drinks, and maybe a blanket or mat to sit on 🧺🌄. It’s quiet, clean, and a great place to enjoy nature, listen to birds, and take in the beauty of the area. Highly recommended for a calm escape!

I recently visited Venta Guadalest and enjoyed a wonderful dining experience. The restaurant offers delicious food sourced locally, set in a stunning environment, and served by highly knowledgeable staff. The menu is diverse, catering to various tastes with options including salads, meats, tapas, desserts, and an impressive selection of wines. Despite some comments about the prices being slightly high, I believe it is justified considering the quality of the fresh daily-cooked dishes.
Just finished a really excellent dinner here. Everything was perfect. Grilled veg, spaghetti with mushrooms and goats cheese followed by tuna and burger. Few copas de vino and cañas. Excellent. A real find.

What a fantastic restaurant 😍. We booked a table and are glad we did as it was full the whole evening. Service is great and the food was so tasty 😋, all local produce and the guys serving explained where it had come from and some of the tradition behind the food. Would highly recommend 👌.

The visit was planned due to reco from my Polish acquaintance and it was absolutely bull's-eye! I've touched tradition in stew soup, grilled squid, pasta, sirloin (I loved rare) were excellent prepared, it s worth to mention about grilled vegetables - easy but trully tasty! Finally many thanks for young lady, service very, very polite and helpful! See you next time! :)

We were dining in Venta as a group and pre-ordered in advance so our food was served quite quickly; the starter - goats cheese salad was delicious and the chocolate cake also scored high for me (indulgent but not overly sweet). The service - courteous and efficient. Please note that portions vary depending on the dish so better ask before ordering. Overall, nice experience.

Absolutely great. I had a nice place outside, service was great (English available), told me a little bit about the wine. Local dishes (rabbit on the picture), for me an absolute must. If you want to sit and enjoy the sun while having a drink and good food, this is your place. Even though I was done, nobody ordered me to leave. I felt appreciated as a customer. Very affordable as well. Menu via QR-code.

Bar Restaurante la Plaza is a charming restaurant located in the heart of Guadalest, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the embalse. The place has received attention for its inviting atmosphere and friendly service. Visitors have praised the homemade food, including tapas and grilled vegetables, all freshly prepared and served piping hot. The restaurant also offers a special wine called "Mo," known for its excellent pairing with meat dishes.
The restaurant directly got our attention, as it is in the heart of Guadalest and appears to be inviting. From the inner you have a priceless view on the mountainside of the province. Astonishing. We entered shortly before closing of the kitchen and were kindly welcomed. We immediately ordered food and vine. We chose a very special vine called the "Mo" which is very good fitting to meat dishes. Though dry you can even smell over the border of the glass the taste of dark berries and wooden maturing. Great red vine. As a starter we ordered albondigas with a herb called in English lovage. Very, very tasty, tender, meatballs melting in your mouth with a slight rest of fat and salt. For this five stars from my side. As the main dish we had pechuga de pollo con Moscatel, chicken breast with onions in a very, extremely tasty sauce of Moscatel, a sweet local vine, cooked down to its essence. It is so tasty, with the brilant meat and onions perfectly fitting to the vine offered. Great. Besides there are (it seems handmade) fries without salt. I guess missing salt could be intentionally, because the taste was so great. A little sweet, roasted soily potatoe. There is no need for salt - trust me. All the time we were asked for our well-being. The toilets are clean und the familiar atmosphere fits into a Spanish feeling of holiday. Prices are moderate and not too much. All in all I would give 5 stars, because I couldn't find a single negative aspect eating in this restaurant, though we were nearly too late for an order. Great!

Can’t speak to the food since we only stopped for a coffee, but the location is spot-on—a perfect place to sit back, relax, and take in the atmosphere after exploring Guadalest. Peaceful, scenic, and just what you need to digest both the views and the emotions of the visit.

Nestled in the picturesque valley of Guadalest, Restaurante Nou Salat is a culinary gem that offers an authentic taste of local cuisine. Just a short drive from Alicante, this charming eatery serves up homestyle dishes like aspencat—roasted vegetables—and pericana, which features dried peppers and salt cod. Guests can also savor local sausages and rice cooked over open flames, making for a truly rustic dining experience.
Very nice restaurant with magnificent views. Usually only open for lunch. Good homemade style food and has good wines (like the local Mendoza wines). Friendly staff who didn't mind guest comming until the last minute. Also seems like a favourite among the locals.

This is another hidden gem! The food is excellent, tasty, professionally prepared and presented. We tried the Burata salad which had a dressing that was a dream. The conejo was excellent as was the desert. Located just below the town of Guadalest the “Nou Salat” is located just below the road but still the outdoor dining was very enjoyable and with the bells ringing from the nearby chapel a paradise-like setting in the mountains overviewing the Mediterranean and the Costa Blanca.

What a pleasant surprise to find such an outstanding private collection hidden away at the very bottom of this mountainous valley. A relatively busy road on the way down considering the geography of the area and requires respect to others, on their to visit the famous town up the road. Nevertheless, a great road to ride or drive and not far from Benidorm. Filled with rare vintage classics from France, England, Germany, Italy and of course Spain, this museum is an affordable treat to visit. If you love your bikes, a well worth visit.

Museo Casa Orduña

Museum
The Museo Casa Orduña is a worthwhile attraction with an entrance fee that provides access to a fully furnished house, offering insight into the way people lived during its time. The presence of arrows throughout the museum aids in navigation. Additionally, visitors can explore the remnants of the castle, although there may not be much left to see. However, climbing the numerous steps rewards visitors with breathtaking views.
As far as I understand, visiting the museum is the only way to also get to the castle. Anyway, the museum is worth to visit too. A lot of information and very well preserved authentic rooms.
Eltonis M — Google review
Not particularly remarkable on its own, but as part of a visit to the Castell de Guadalest (it is the entry point, so you pay for it as a bundle), it’s a reasonable stop. It complements the overall experience and helps round out the visit—more of a pleasant extra than a main attraction, but still worth a look while you’re there.
Felipe B — Google review
This museum or Casa Orduna gives a great insight as to how this noble family lived for many generations here since 1644. Lots to see in all the different rooms. You have to go through this Museum to get up to the top of the castle to enjoy the panoramic views.
Richard A — Google review
We came to the Orduna Museum as a day trip on a cruise ship, the drive here from Alicante was great, going through the mountains, and the museum had many interesting artifacts from hundreds of years ago. We could wander around as we wished. Then we could go up to the ruins of the castle, with fantastic views!
Eileen W — Google review
4€ entrance fee and well worth it. The house is fully furnished, so gives you a good idea of how peopled lived in this house at the time. There are arrows to guide you around which is a great help. You also get access to the remains of the castle. Although there is not much left to see. However, the views you get from climbing the many steps are well worth the effort.

Castle
Castillo de San José, also known as the Castle of Guadalest, is a charming castle that can be accessed through Casa Orduna. For a small fee, visitors can explore both sites. The castle is perched atop dramatic rock formations, offering stunning views of the surroundings. Visitors are impressed by the beautiful vistas and the unique location of the house and castle.
The Castle's mountaintop location is distinguished by a solitary entrance tunnel, providing the only access to and from the city, with a cemetery situated prominently at the summit. Even though it was a cloudy day with a little bit of drizzle it was a very beautiful sight!

Nestled in the heart of Guadalest, Restaurante L' Hort is a beloved gem that offers diners an unforgettable experience with its stunning views and traditional cuisine. This charming eatery specializes in local dishes crafted with care, showcasing the rich flavors of the region. Guests rave about their delightful minxos as a starter and recommend trying the olleta de blat or meat dumplings for a true taste of tradition.
We have been here several times a few years ago so when family came to visit it was our first choice for a return visit! The food was very tasty and authentic. Our waiter Miguel was so professional and friendly 10/10 for him. Next time we go to Guadalest we would only eat here!

Al Ras @alrasguadalest is a hidden gem in Guadalest, Spain, offering possibly the best burgers you'll ever taste. The unpretentious presentation allows the flavors to shine, with juicy yet non-greasy meat and perfectly balanced ingredients on a bun that holds together. The Mexican burger brings delightful spiciness while the classic bacon burger features perfectly crispy bacon. This cozy cafe also serves fresh and delicious tapas, including homemade bravas and ham croquettes.
Randomly walked in for drinks while visiting Guadalest and immediately booked a table for lunch because everything people were eating looked absolutely delicious. Later the food totally exceeded our expectations - the burgers were some of the best we have had and the desserts were exquisitely tasty! We had the pistachio and lemon cakes and they were heavenly! The service was also fast and very friendly. We are definitely going back there!

We just wanted to have a quick snack and a drink. At first, we were told that we had one hour, and we agreed because that was more than enough for us. We sat down at the table, but shortly after a staff member came over and asked us to leave without any explanation. Absolutely terrible place — disgusting service. We would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

You might think you’re ordering a normal burger here but beware… these burgers are possibly the best you have ever eaten. Unpretentious presentation, the flavor does all the talking. The perfect balance of ingredients, the meat is juicy but not greasy, a perfect bun selection that doesn’t fall apart. The Mexican burger was delightfully spicy and classic bacon burger was fantastic(the bacon has that perfect crispity crunch). We chanced across this place luckily because it is truly world class. We were a group of six with a small dog and sat outside at El Riu restaurant. Unfortunately, the service was far from welcoming. Although there was enough space, the staff refused to rearrange the tables and chairs so we could sit together comfortably. The Museo de Saleros y Pimenteros is an enchanting and delightful destination to explore. The proprietor is equally charming, adding to the overall experience. It's a place that will undoubtedly bring a smile to your face as you wander through their meticulously organized collection. The assortment of salt and pepper shakers is beyond imagination, showcasing the immense creativity of those responsible for curating it. It's definitely a visit worth making, with its impressive display that surpasses reality itself.
A lovely little niche museum. It only cost €2 each to get in, we had it to ourselves and someone had clearly put a lot of love into the displays, they were really thoughtfully curated. Which is great because I imagine 20,000 shakers chaotically curated would be migraine-inducing. There's a nice little cafe attached as well.

Lovely, charming place to visit. The owner is also lovely. Take some time to see it, you will smile as you walk around a very well organised collection.

One of the best lunches I’ve had in Spain! The tapas and pistachio tiramisu were amazing. Unbelievable place in a beautiful village. The staff were super friendly ❤️

Lovely tasty food in an attractive environment. Beautifully presented tapas. My favourite was the scallops but my husband preferred the goat cheese salad with nuts and pomegranate seeds.

Amazing place. I always appreciate restaurants that do things a bit differently, play with food, and combine tastes. And that's exactly this case. If you want something known in a new coat, this is a place to go. I had ribs toast and a cheesecake. Both are delicious. Just beware that cheesecake is made of stronger cheese than you would expect. And staff are just lovely, very attending. Witnessed a meltdown from a kid by another table and saw the chef explaining that there is no problem preparing something kid friendly out of the menu. Great experience, definitely recommend 👌

The food quality and the presentation of it equals a Michelin restaurant. Soooo tasty and really delicious. Out of this world!!!!

What a wonderful restaurant. The staff were so kind & friendly, and also really passionate about the food which was lovely to see. The food was fantastic, with absolutely delicious flavour combinations. We were a group of 5 and shared multiple dishes, all of which were superb. Thank you for your warm welcome & your dedication to serving truly delicious food!

Surprising place, however hard to trully experience it. First impresion was rather discouraging as we were told 40+ min of wait time for the food to be prepared. Then we sat and nobody really approached us for 10min. Then we were asked what we want to drink but no menu was brougth. After more 10 min the driks were there at last with the menu. When we said that we'll be finishing as haven't so much time, the two appetizers were proposed. After more 10 min the dish was there and it was delicious. We were realy suprised with it. We're disappointed that we hadn't time to fully experience the place. We would recommend the owners to focus more on a customers as we were just sitting, starving and watching the staff preparing the tables for new customers that might come (however some plates were sitting there for 30min) while we could enjoy the drinks etc. We just felt forgotten. However we can recommend this place for the surprising taste.

Tapas bar
Cafe Bar Les Penyes is a delightful spot that perfectly balances great food and friendly service. Nestled conveniently close to the castle, it’s an ideal stop for travelers looking to refuel after exploring. Guests rave about the delicious tapas, particularly the cheese and ham croquettes, which are a must-try! The atmosphere is welcoming, with attentive staff who go out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant experience.
Cannot fault the helpfulness of the staff. Food was good but not great. Portion size very good. Great location and fair prices considering.

The food was really good. We had calamari as main dish and they were very tasty and served in a generous portion
Małgosia S — Google review
Food was good but the service was terrible, They gave 1 menu for 6’people and just one more when we requested for more (and they had a big pile of menus) Price is good! And was the only place open.
Rebecca B — Google review
This place was so nice that we went there before and after visiting the castle! Lovely service by the smiling waitress, the best cheese and ham croquettes, and very reasonable prices!
Purday S — Google review
Tasted very bad. The burgerpatty were the worst i ever had. And there were tendons in the patty. I clundt even eat it. I almost puked. Dont recommend it !!!!! Muy mal !!!!!!!!!!!
Raphael S — Google review
Do not recommend this place! Ordered a burger which was raw, after only a few bites I felt terrible. When I asked for a new burger they took my old one baked the meat and just reassembled it and gave it back. The service was not good, the person behind the bar was really unfriendly! Do not go here!
Elisa C — Google review
Only had Tapas but the food and service were great. Saw some food come out to other tables and it looked superb and they all seamed to be happy with it. Will be back for a meal soon.

Restaurante Mora, a beloved culinary gem in Guadalest, boasts a rich history dating back to the 1980s. This charming establishment stands out for its unique blend of traditional flavors and innovative techniques, creating dishes that are sure to delight your palate. While it offers some familiar tastes, it also surprises with modern twists like savory waffles. The inviting atmosphere is complemented by friendly service and an appealing interior design that makes dining here a pleasure.
Nothing to fault. Great decor, great service and most of all great food. More expensive than the other local options but the unique plates and quality are worth the small premium.

The atmosphere and service are great. I also think they have a good selection of wines. But the food wasn't so good. We ordered 2 starters and 2 mains and none of them were so good. Maybe if you order menu it would have been better. I would just expect a better quality from the prices they have.

Lovely restaurant. Nice decor and high quality food. Would definitely go back again!

We celebrated the evening before our wedding at Mora with all our guests. What a wonderful time! We enjoyed every moment: all the appetizers were absolutely delicious, as were the cava and the white, red, and rosé wines. The service was fantastic, and the atmosphere in this beautiful place was just as great. An absolute must for anyone visiting Guadalest who wants to enjoy pure and authentic cuisine.

We came in the afternoon with a tour group and was limited on time. They were very accommodating and it's the best meal we have had in Spain so far including in Barcelona and Alicante. Every dish was excellent. Dessert, cava and coffee also great. Highly recommend the tasting menu. Very reasonable prices too

Great place. Ate indoors, very agréable place and servers were helpful. I had rabbit on garlic and it tasted really good. Also had starters, filled mushrooms and gambas, and it was excellent

Nice service, burrata salad was fantastic, all the food was great. Food and wine very reasonably priced.

A real tourist trap, ordered muscles for 7 euros got 6 muscles and they tasted terrible. Meatballs and croquettes were also awful. Can not warn you enough to not come here

We decided to try El Mirador de Guadalest since it was conveniently located nearby. The unique interior design and the hospitable owners left a positive impression on us. We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious cuisine, and they even showed kindness towards our child. Furthermore, the restaurant offers stunning vistas of Guadalest.
If U want the best roast chicken in the area: this is the place! Great atmosphere & amazing views. The owners R fun & will take great care of U . They have a stunning vista!!!!

Exceptionally good food, both meat and fish dishes fresh and good portion sizes with an abundance of flavour. Great wine and good server. Not to sure why the reviews are so low this place is 10/10 and the view is priceless
Izzy R — Google review
SHOCKING! Do not stop here. Two staff working but couldn’t handle just a few tourists. After getting a drink, we decided to order food and what mistake that was. Basic tapas is all we ordered but after over an hours wait we could see our food hadn’t even started to be prepared. There were people waiting to be served at the bar but no staff so they left. This restaurant should not be trading. Totally clueless staff on how to run a restaurant
Mark N — Google review
The pork rib was sensational! Yes, what others have mentioned is true, they might not be the most attentive when it comes to services and this can lead to longer waiting times. However, they were always quick with the drinks. So sit back and enjoy your beer while looking at the beautiful scenery. Also the staff is simply amazing. They were so nice to our kids and even the language barrier didn‘t stop them. 5/5 Stars! Just expect some waiting times and admire the views. Also don‘t get the lasagna, that one wasn‘t good.

I don't know what ppl complain about... The service is very good, owners extremely friendly. We came with 4 kids so ordered varied food and everything was absolutely the best ever. Ribs, burgers, lasagne, bread, chips, potatoes, appetizers, dessert and the best sangria ever. All made fresh from scratch. Views beautiful, fantastic spot. Nice music... I definitely recommend it.
Maria P — Google review
Very good food, but had to wait for 25 mins to give the order. Beer took 10 minutes to deliver. Food was really nice. Nevertheless they apologized for the delay in service

Very nice place for dinning and just hanging out. The staf is very nice and warm here, doesn’t bother to talk to you. The atmosphere is amazing and reminds of how warm and cozy people are here. Very satisfied and gratefull. Not first time here and every time it feels amazing. Food is nice!
