Fregona in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Fregona, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Fregona is a small village in the foothills of the pre-Alps, known above all for the scenic Grotte del Caglieron, where walkways wind past waterfalls, rock formations and old quarry sites. It sits close to the extensive Cansiglio Forest, offering hiking, cycling and wildlife-watching in a quiet, natural setting. The surrounding hills form part of the Prosecco wine area, so you can combine outdoor excursions with visits to local wineries and traditional trattorias. Historic churches and rural hamlets add a low-key cultural dimension without large crowds.
With favorites like Antico Troi dei Cimbri, Agriturismo Le Crode, and Pizzoc, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Ristorante alle Grotte da Nereo and Agriturismo Le Crode so you can get the best taste of Fregona while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Caverns & Caves
Caves Caglieron is a stunning natural and artificial cave complex with picturesque waterfalls that can be admired from walking paths. The area is a beautiful nature reserve, offering visitors the chance to stroll amidst lush greenery and enjoy the soothing sound of flowing water. The caves are spread along the waterfalls, accessible via wooden bridges and walkways.
This place is amazing! So beautiful, it feels like a magic world in the rain forest. I visited on a Wednesday with my three children who are 6, 8, and 10. They loved it the scenery is absolutely stunning. There was no wait. It is definitely slick and the boardwalk through the park is mostly only fit for tennis shoes or something similar. We did the elevated portion of the trail and it was a lot less impressive than the lower portion. This also could have been because it was quite hot and I was struggling to understand the map. I highly recommend this excursion. Parking was easy, and there is a small café with drinks and snacks and a restroom.
Wendy W — Google review
Beautiful path, quite easy to do for people of all ages and fitness. The standard loop walk of about 1.5 miles takes you through the caves and canyon where you can see waterfalls. You're given a map at the ticket office but even without it the path is well signed and easy to follow. I recommend going early morning in summer as it can get hot hiking back up. Also the parking is a bit complicated to figure out, it would help if there were a sign post next to it with instructions instead of on-the-go reading from the meter screen which is difficult when is very sunny as the day we went. A standard loop walking slowly takes you about 1 hour so don't pay more than 1.5h parking unless you plan on having lunch at the restaurant inside the loop path or stop at the bar near the car park.
M J — Google review
Very cool place, challenging paths and great views. Lots of history and ecology along the way. Parking is 2€/hour and entry is 4€/person. DONT TAKE THE CASTLE DETOUR, long, difficult and underwhelming.
Colby R — Google review
It is an easy walking activity and very interesting cave. Not so big, so don’t plan hours. We could manage it in 1 hour. You can park next to the bridge in a Parking lot, 1 h = 2€. You need to buy the parking ticket directly from the automata. We arrived around 10 am, it was not busy.
Nikolett C — Google review
Beautiful, easy hike that’s great for young kids. There’s 2 restaurants near the trail and parking is easy to navigate. The trail is about 1.5 miles
Alyssa H — Google review
nice little 1km hike through the caves / along the creek. Walking slow and seeing everything you can finish in 20/30min. 4 euros a person and 2 euro per hour for parking is a little much but it’s a decent walk / attraction

Very beautiful views in cave, for me it's was amazing for only 4 euro have to visit it 😀
Natalija K — Google review
We had a fantastic experience here all thanks to Dino and the two wonderful girls. Not only is the attraction very stunning to look at and interesting to see( also a bargain 4 euros). We accidentally dropped our car key on the route and Dino and the girls couldn't have been more helpful, searching with us and hero Dino found them. Thank you so much guys for a fantastic experience!

(Translated by Google) . Purely aesthetic judgement: the square is very neglected, it leaves a sense of abandonment in your heart..... redevelopment work has obviously begun but not finished, at least that's what it seems or I hope.... too bad it's not a good business card in many respects !(review to be reconsidered over time) 17/06/2021 improved aesthetics of the square but taking away the practicality of maneuvers with vehicles passing through it. Overall, the appearance is more refined. The church always remains very beautiful. (Original) . From this mountain you can enjoy a truly extraordinary view, it is easily accessible by everyone, both on foot and by car and there is a large parking space on the top. I really recommend it to anyone, it makes your day, it was the icing on the cake of an already perfect weekend! The only warning is that at the top it may be windy and the temperature may be much lower than down the valley. The restaurant, though slightly off the beaten path, offers a unique dining experience with its delicious risotto and delectable desserts. It's advisable to make reservations in advance due to limited seating. Guests have praised the freshness and flavors of every dish, as well as the friendly service provided by the owner.
We had two beers and a portion of fries — super fresh, crispy, and just perfect. The beers were cold, the fries were hot, and everything tasted amazing. The service was great too — our waiter was really polite and friendly. Plus, the place was super clean and had a chill vibe.

So, this is one of the few places where I can order raw fish without worrying about my health. The place is a little out of the beaten track and don't be scared for the down hill you have to do to reach the restaurant. Antipasti are very good both cold (raw) or warm (cooked). Risotto is super! And the desserts are awesome! Please remember to book a table, there aren't many tables here.

It's very nice due to the fact that there is a fireplace inside and they also cook in it, but there isn't even the slightest truly extraordinary smell. In the photo I took the very good Pata Negra I recommend it to meat lovers, then it doesn't even cost that much for a lunch for 2 with first course, second course, water and coffee we spent around 40 euros (Original) Ottima osteria con cibo davvero squisito e personale molto molto gentile e disponibile.
