Situated on the historic site of the 1944 D-Day landing, Utah Beach Landing Museum offers a modern and immersive experience with multimedia exhibits that vividly depict the events of World War II. The museum provides a chronological journey through different sections, starting with German defenses and Rommel's role in constructing the Atlantic Wall. From its curved windows, visitors can take in panoramic views of Utah Beach while exploring a diorama featuring a landing craft, trenches, and a field gun.
Very good museum describing Utah beach defensive preparation and local resistance and American landing. Also the challenge to create and original funding for the museum. Well worth a visit to understand this aspect of the war. Didn't find signposting to the general car park clear at all
Jan C — Google review
Great museum! The installations are interesting and varied, while the exhibit itself is done with respect without veering into the "pathetic" or overly heroic. It's well split into topics of the operations and the importance of Utah Beach specifically within Operation Overlord. Thanks again!
Alexis D — Google review
As interested as I am in WW11 and the Normandy landings, this was poor for me. The museum wouldn't be a patch on the Airborne Museum in Ste Mere Eglise. That said, it is definitely worth visiting and take in how these brave lads fought and died for what we all have today.
Pat S — Google review
Wish we had more time here, but we were with a tour group from Paris and had time constraints. It’s an awesome museum filled with so much history. Such a solemn place filled with so much sacrifice.
K H — Google review
It is a place where sadness and malinchony caused by the heaviness of history strugled me.. but is also a place where man wrote History sacrifying their lives. Be respectful is the minimum visitors can do. The museum itself is very well done, the hangar is the main attraction but also the other rooms are intriguing. This is a must see Museum as all the other museums in the area.

Great place to visit, very profound experience. The beauty and at the same time the historical magnitude creates a feeling difficult to articulate.
Jonas L — Google review
A great place to visit. Huge detail in exhibits to evole the DDay landings, the personnel involved and an explanation of the build up to the Landings and how each day unfolded. Very atmospheric - huge credit to all iAllies nvolved. The Allied forces were very brave supported by the French Resistance and Free French. Could easily spend several hours at the museum - stunning views over the beach. A great cafe/ bar worth visitinfg too.

Great Museum wit a lot of history and the B52 is for sure the main attraction 🤩. There is also a lot to see outside the Museum.

Iconic symbol of the US Navy, which represents "The men and women who have served, are serving and will serve in the United States Navy, from private to officers". Humbling. Thankful. Extremely grateful. Thought provoking and a place you must visit at least once.
Justinbartha 7 — Google review
Andrew Jackson Higgins played a pivotal role in World War II through his innovative design of the Higgins boat, a landing craft that proved essential to the success of the Allied forces on D-Day, June 6, 1944. These flat-bottomed boats, officially known as Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel (LCVP), were specifically designed to navigate shallow waters and quickly unload troops and equipment onto the beaches of Normandy. Without Higgins’ contribution, military leaders, including General Dwight D. Eisenhower, believed the Normandy invasion would have been far more difficult, if not impossible. A memorial dedicated to Higgins and his boats allows visitors to step inside a replica and experience what it was like for the soldiers who stormed the beaches. Located near the Utah Beach Landing Museum and the shores of Utah Beach, this tribute offers a tangible connection to history, helping visitors appreciate the bravery and sacrifice of the Allied forces. The exhibit provides a deeper understanding of the logistics and engineering behind one of the most critical moments of World War II. Standing inside a Higgins boat is a humbling experience, bringing to life the immense challenges faced by those who fought for freedom on that fateful day.
Braulio A — Google review
A beautiful and meaningful memorial at Utah Beach, dedicated to the iconic Higgins Boat – the landing craft that played a crucial role on D-Day in 1944. The monument honors not only the engineering but also the bravery of the soldiers who landed here during World War II. The site is simple yet powerful, featuring a life-sized replica of the boat. It stands as a symbol of sacrifice and courage during the invasion. The peaceful surroundings make it a perfect place for reflection and remembrance. Well worth a stop when visiting Utah Beach – a reminder of how a single piece of equipment helped change the course of history.
Edvin S — Google review
For anyone that follows the history of WWII, you know how truly important this boat and its development meant to the was effort. Eisenhower said it really was on of the most important tools in winning the war. There is a great story and exhibit about the development of the Higgns Boat at the U S WWII museum in New Orleans. Stephen Ambrose, the author and founder of the U S WWII museum intentionally located the museum in New Orleans as a tribute to the Higgins Boat. This is a very nice acknowledgement to Higgins and his contribution.
Brian G — Google review
Looks like the soldiers are coming out from the boat. I love everything about this. 🙃 There was almost no one here on the beach, which is sad

Fans of the Band of Brothers TV series should not miss the Major Richard Winters Memorial, located near Brécourt Manor in Normandy, France. This tribute honors the leadership and professionalism of Major Winters, who played a crucial role in the success of the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944. It was near this site that Winters led his men in a decisive assault on German artillery positions, a key action that contributed to securing Utah Beach. The memorial stands as a testament to his bravery and the legacy of the soldiers he commanded.

Nice recognition of the leadership, bravery and humbleness of this famed Easy Company leader. Take the normal road to get there, not the quite bad country road from / to the northwest, alternative route to Easy Company Memorial, unless you have a higher 4x4 car.

This memorial is in the middle of a crossroad, in a back road. Unless you have your gps set for it, you may not readily see it when visiting other memorial sites.

If you’re a Band of Brothers fan, visiting is a must — if only to pay respects to the greatest.
Thodoris Z — Google review
The memorial itself is simple but after watching Band of Brothers, Dick Winters became a hero of mine. While in the area reflecting on the sacrifices of so many, it's nice to stop and reflect on individual stories as well. Right down the street from Utah Beach, it's an easy quick stop.

Le Roosevelt is a charming restaurant located at Utah Beach, offering a convenient dining option for visitors exploring the area's historic sites. The establishment provides barrier-free facilities and accepts major credit cards. The decor is adorned with written tributes to veterans, creating a poignant atmosphere. Guests can enjoy a diverse menu featuring pizza, crepes, waffles, burgers, salads, and more. The restaurant also offers outdoor seating for warmer days.
This is a must visit place because of its history and fabulous interior. If you are a Band of Brothers fan, they had lots of photos with the actors visiting the restaurant. I love that WW2 veterans and/or their family can write on the tables/walls to honor their memories. The service was super quick, plenty of interior & exterior tables. The staff that helped us all spoke English and were very friendly. We both had the Jambon Grille ( a large piece of ham with norman gravy/sauce), fries, and salad. It was fine. The menu had a nice selection of food and drinks. The restaurant also had a nice gift shop.
Melissa S — Google review
Le Roosevelt is a unique restaurant, museum, and gift shop with deep historical significance. Located in Normandy, France, this building played a crucial role during World War II. Initially used as a telephone exchange by the Germans during their occupation, it later became the headquarters of the first U.S. Navy communications center after the Allied landings. Today, it stands as a tribute to the sacrifices and heroism of those who fought in the war. While the restaurant serves food, many visitors come simply to experience the history embedded within its walls. One of its most remarkable features is the collection of thousands of signatures left by veterans who have returned to this site. These autographs serve as a living testament to their experiences and sacrifices. Among them, visitors can also find signatures from actors of the acclaimed TV series Band of Brothers, further connecting the location to the legacy of World War II. In addition to its historical significance, Le Roosevelt offers a museum and gift shop where visitors can explore wartime memorabilia and take home meaningful souvenirs. Whether dining or just visiting, this site provides a profound and moving connection to history.

We visited Utah Beach at 0900 - still opening up - so we came back 30 mins later. In an American themed cafe - why play modern music, ruined the atmosphere. I don’t understand why there wasn’t breakfast on? Coffee and a croissant… not just a cake ‘thing’ in a wrapper… everyone was asking for breakfast… Slightly overpriced. It’s okay only, but could’ve been better,
Iain L — Google review
This a very cool little place right across the road from Utah Beach and the museum. It was captured on D-Day by the Americans and used as a communications bunker. The bunker has been preserved so one can see what it looked liked. The restaurant is full of memorabilia including actual newspapers that paper the interior walls as well as a Band of Brothers poster signed by some of the cast members. Ownership has changed since our last visit here, and it is better run now. The food was very good, but nothing fancy. I had a Croque Madame and my wife at the plat du jour of roast chicken and fries. The desert, an apple tart with ice cream, was worth the trip. Truly noteworthy.

I had an excellent American coffee for 5 Euro. Sure it was expensive, but it's the only option and a tourist center. The service as nice. The place is historic. Original radio equipment and has a bunker in the back that was used to be the center hub of communication an during the normandy invasion. Good gift shop too.
C B — Google review
What a place, brilliant as you can't imagine what went on here all those years ago. It just brings everything home to you. The museum is great, lot of objects to look at and a full size plane. This plane didn't actually see any combat and has been fully restored to its original condition. They did this by scouring the globe as they have built this plane back up using only original parts. I found out while I was admiring this plane that the black out white stripes on the fuselage was place there last minute on all combat planes to try and stop friendly fire, who would have believed that! The museum cost around 9 euros per adult and you can spend as much or as little time in there as you like. There are places to eat and have an ice cream, so if you are in France you must go here!

Domaine Utah Beach was amazing! We showed up without a reservation and received excellent service. A family room was all they had available and we took it. It was clean, comfortable and had everything we wanted. We got a reservation to their restaurant that night. Again, it was exceptional! We just left from this place and can’t rave about it enough! The check in was super easy, and well organized. The room we had was upstairs and the bottom level had a living room and kitchenette. Tastefully decorated and well furnished. The whole apartment was very clean, shower was amazing! The restaurant for breakfast and supper was over the top! The food was delicious, the serve was great, and the staff are delightful and pleasant. Very close to the areas we wanted to see, and stayed 3 nights. Family owned and operated with lots of love to the people they serve. Would recommend to everyone!!! I also made a friend, check my pictures.

The hotel's location is fantastic, with beautiful surroundings and clean, nice rooms that reflect a charming simplicity. However, the food options at the restaurant need improvement, as the quality did not meet expectations. A better dining experience would enhance an otherwise great stay.

A wonderful experience the staff was friendly and helpful, the din er incredible, our room was fantastic, I will come back to this hotel any time that I am in Normandy, I highly recommend this location
Tim P — Google review
I spent a couple of nights during the Easter weekend. I liked the large room but none of the electric plugs worked in the bathroom and the heating did not seem to work since I felt cold and so did my American friends who were staying in another room. For my room I paid 454 euros for the two nights with breakfast, and I feel it is a lot to pay when you are cold and cannot dry your hair in the bathroom. My biggest criticism though is about the cost of tap water at the restaurant. We were charged 1.50 euro per person. I am wondering whether it is legal to charge for tap water! Anyhow it is unheard of in France where bread and water always comes at no charge. My friends' kids only drank coke and one of my friends only drank wine, so they were charged for water they did not even consume. I said nothing because I did not want them to feel uneasy but I was shocked. However, the restaurant staff was very nice and I liked the pleasant atmosphere there. I just feel that the managerial staff takes advantage of their foreign guests.
