Tintern Abbey is a historic site in the Forest of Dean, featuring the Gothic West Front and ruins dating back to 1131. The area offers a rich cultural and historical experience with nearby attractions like All Saints Church, Symonds Yat, Goodrich Castle, Sudeley Castle, Westbury Court Garden, and Raglan Castle. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy activities such as mountain biking, horse riding, golfing, fishing, and more.
Always wanted to visit. Didn't disappoint. Magnificent medieval abbey. Part of it is currently covered in scaffolding for restoration, so some areas are cordoned off, which is a bit of a shame, but I was aware of this before going. The scaffolding itself is a feat of engineering. It is quite amazing how huge the windows are or were. Definitely still worth a visit. Nice pub near by. Costs 5 pound to park, but you get this back if you spend money in the Abbey gift shop or the pub.

This is my second time at the Tintern Abbey, the Abbey sits on the border between England and Wales but on the Welsh side. I loved it here both times, this time they also had a trail for children to follow and uncover facts. Highly recommend a visit to Tintern Abbey if you are nearby or even passing through to Wales. With rich history, and amazing views, don't miss out.
Hamid M — Google review
I’ve driven past Tintern Abbey countless times over the years, always admiring its setting but never quite stopping - maybe because from the outside, it just looked like a quiet ruin with not much going on inside. But I finally made the visit, and I’m so glad I did. The moment I stepped into the church nave, everything shifted. The soaring arches and the magnificent west front with its seven-light window are breathtaking. It’s hard to believe this place was stripped bare after the dissolution in 1536, left to decay for centuries before being rediscovered by artists and poets like Wordsworth and Turner in the 18th century. You can see why they were drawn to it - the ruins are hauntingly beautiful. For just £9, it’s a deeply worthwhile visit. The abbey’s location in the lush Wye Valley adds to the magic, and there’s a convenient pay-and-display car park plus a pub nearby if you want to make a day of it. If you’ve ever passed it thinking “just another ruin,” I’d say don’t wait as long as I did. It’s far more than that.

A beautiful place to visit with some very interesting history and some significant preservation challenges. It was a weekday afternoon with very few people around which made sitting, in what was the original church hall and the surrounding grounds, and incredibly peaceful experience. There was a lot of scaffolding up and areas cordened off as they fight to save the crumbling building but it is still well worth a visit. A local pub make parking and grabbing a drink afterwards easy
Ben W — Google review
Holidaying in area and was looking for a dog friendly place to visit and as EH members we found we could get into any CADW properties free. Tintern Abbey is a magnificent medieval Abbey. Some of it is covered in scaffolding for restoration, so some areas are cordoned off. It is quite amazing how big the place is or would have been and a feat of engineering. Definitely still worth a visit. Costs £5 to park, but you get this back if you spend money in the gift shop or the pub. Very friendly staff.

What a wonderful abbey. Well worth a visit and a nice short walk through the village and over the bridge. How on earth did they build such structures so long ago! Must be the power of religion 🤔🤔
Gareth L — Google review
Beautyful Abbey . Under construction. That limits the scenery a little. But still very much worth a visit. Entrance was a bit expencive.

Stunning ruin. Currently undergoing a lot of protective work so a chunk of it out if bounds, but still an enjoyable stroll round. Backdrop will be gorgeous in about 3 weeks! Beautiful area.

A beautiful cottage in the lovely Wye Valley. Well equipped and warm. Beautifully presented on arrival. Lovely walks from the door and Tintern Abbey just across the road to explore. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Very cosy and clean cottage. Instructions for everything are very clear. Five stars for the cottage. Tintern itself is very nice and great as a base for walkers. Scenery is terrific and local pubs excellent but coming from the North Midlands I found the prices a little high but the quality is good. Would I go again? Probably.

We have just returned after a fabulous weeks stay in Tintern Abbey Cottage with family and friends. What a beautiful cottage it is.......a real gem The property is surrounded by lovely countryside and set back from the village road. It has magnificent views of Abbey and in easy reach of many amenities. Inside doesn't disappoint either. It is very tastefully decorated, extremely comfortable and exceptionally well equipped . The beds are soooooo comfortable you really don't want to get up in the mornings. You really don't want for anything.........a true home from home. The property owners have thought of everything to make your holiday and enjoyable, relaxing and stress free. Should you have the need to contact them they are very helpful, friendly and obliging. We would highly recommend Tintern Abbey Cottage to anyone and we hope to return in the near future. We had a wonderful time........thank you

Cafe
The Filling Station Cafe is a charming spot located near the stunning ruins of Tintern Abbey and the River Wye. It's a family-run establishment known for its exceptional coffee, delectable homemade cakes, and tasty filled baguettes. The cafe is owned by Vin and Lou Kennedy, who take pride in their 5-star food hygiene rating. Whether you're a cyclist, walker, tourist, or local resident, you'll feel welcome at this centrally located cafe.
What an absolute joy the Filling Station is! Just lovely and scrummy and delicious. GF options were fabulous even at the end of the day on a Sunday, Coconut flapjack was gorgeous, Mocha was delicious including Belgian chocolate shavings and the carrot cake was divine!! Highly recommend and we will be back
Chris L — Google review
Popped in for a quick bite. Paninis or baguettes with a good selection of filling. A good choice of coffees and cakes too. They swapped the bacon out and put chutney with brie for us. Delicious. Americanos in black and white also delicious. Lovely staff. Very cosy with the woodburner inside. Plenty of seating outside to front and down round the back. Only downside no loo. However just a short walk to the one at the Abbey carpark.

A great café in the middle of town and a great option for lunch, tea, or coffee if you are in Tintern. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They are constantly busy but they have good and friendly service! I think what stood out to me was when I ordered coffee, the young lady asked me how strong I wanted it. Normally you pay extra for that but I guess it’s not unusual for them! She saw how pleasantly surprised I was when she asked me that. I went for the strongest of course! Great and friendly service, cheap but quality food.
Dean F — Google review
The best carrot cake I've ever had and a bostin mug of tea! This little place can get very busy on sunny days, and I can see why. Highly recommended!
Simon B — Google review
Coffee and people watching, what a great idea! Called in for a coffee after a long day at work. Great service and the latte was great! I did consider a snack, but I declined because I was still full from breakfast. Everything looked great, and next time I'm going to try a cake! Parking on a busy day can be difficult because of Tintern being an absolute honeypot. But the Filling Station is definitely somewhere to try if you are in the area. Sat outside

We stopped off for a coffee to warm up as a family and our Labrador. We found the coffee was great - lovely chocolate on the mocha! The fire to warm you up in such a cosy place was a nice touch. Highly recommend it has bike parking rack out the front so clearly popular with cyclists too.
Jack T — Google review
Just had the nicest cup of coffee in about 6 years from this place. I knew it would be good when I was asked how strong I wanted it, on a scale of 1-10… We also picked up some ice cream from The Hub, across the road, which is part of the same cafe. Flavours were lovely. Can’t recommend it more
Glynn W — Google review
Can't say enough positive things about the filling station cafe! Very high quality, service food and drink. Indoor and outdoor seating available and staff very knowledgeable of the area. Called in by bike for refreshments and was made immediately welcome. This is a very popular cycling stop.

Abbey Mill is a charming spot located near Tintern Abbey in Wales, offering a variety of delicious treats such as sausage rolls, meat pies, and sausages. The area surrounding the mill is known for its stunning views and attractions like the 17th-century inn, The Fountain Inn, which serves local fresh food and real ales. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a unique cafe experience with iconic red umbrellas and views of Tintern Abbey.
Treated our friends to Christmas Carvery Lunch at Abbey Mill yesterday! Genuinely warm welcome from the staff and restaurant looked really festive. Food was beautifully presented and brought piping hot to our table. We chose the beef, turkey and salmon with all the trimmings and friends couldn’t stop talking about how tender the meat was. Desserts arrived to hushed silence - sublime! Then teas, coffees and mince pies at our leisure. Atmosphere was very jolly and everyone really enjoyed themselves. A super lunch shared with friends, really good value plus plenty of free parking. ‘Wish it could be Christmas every day’… at Abbey Mill!

Had afternoon on Saturday was lovely and staff were brilliant and friendly and food was fresh and worth money. And lovely shops out side with kinds staff too. Deffo recommend both.

Superb afternoon tea. The food was home made and amazing. Highlights for me were the savoury pastry items, scotch egg, fluffy scones, Victoria sandwich cake and chocolate brownie. Thankfully, they gave us decent bags to take some home, as it was a very generous amount. Nicely served on china by polite and efficient staff. Only downside was that our table was right by the window with everyone queuing to be seated, inches away the other side of the glass. That's the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. I guess we were just unlucky to have that table, others would have been fine. Excellent value for money. Dog friendly.
Juliet W — Google review
Lovely place, beautiful setting. Food was very nice, but shame they only serve white bread, giving me a limited choice. However, the quiche was amazing and the salad too. Dog friendly, big bonus. Mill Wheel Teacake was nice, cinnamon butter a very nice touch! Bit of a challenge to order a beer. There were hardly any in the fridge, no menu and it was only by chance I saw the Morretti tap!

Stopped off on our way home from Monmouth. Spacious car park. A few little shops and a restaurant. We had a lovely ice cream and took a walk over the bridge to look at the amazing views.

My favorite place to visit, bonus on this visit as there was a ukulele band there, fantastic lunch from Cafe and bought some hand made soaps 5*

Very picturesque and well appointed. Some wonderful shops, bars, restaurants and seating. Lovely old Mill parts visible and working. Took a nice walk and did some shopping. Aside from 1 member of staff in a little shop near the tea room everyone was lovely and cheerful, offering great conversation and service. The spirit of the green man shop was like a chunk of Glastonbury magic and I purchased a few beautiful and well priced items there, the gent that runs it is very nice, friendly and helpful

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This little shop is such a special place — full of charm, creativity, and genuine heart. The team are always so kind, welcoming, and clearly passionate about supporting local makers and creating a lovely experience for everyone who walks through the door. It’s the kind of shop where you end up having the nicest chats, discovering something unique, and leaving with a smile (and probably a beautiful handmade treat or two!). It’s a true gem in the community and exactly the kind of place we need more of. Thoughtful, inspiring, and run by people who really care. 💛
Fern J — Google review
Such a fantastic shop, full of wonderful hand made items. Definitely puts you in touch with nature. One of the reasons we visited this area was to see Kathleen's shop as we already have a green man plaque and dragon. Came away with more items and had a long chat with Kathleen, who is so friendly.
Jeremy G — Google review
Just taken delivery of my items from Spirit of the Green Man, they are Christmas presents for friends. I have ordered several Green Men and wall plaques over the past few years and the quality and workmanship is always outstanding. Each sculpture feels unique and special. I think if we lived close by to the shop we would be there every week :) xx

Awful, rude and unhelpful man. Think he must have been having a very bad day, or he’s in the wrong job! We were really upset by his attitude so we left without buying all the gifts we planned to take back NZ.

Absolutely wonderful!! We spent a fortune...but worth every penny, for the unique, quality and meaningful items. If you are spiritually minded or not, no matter, the little shop is crammed full of a positive energy....food for the soul ❤️❤️

The bridge provides stunning views of the river and ruins, having recently undergone refurbishment. Visitors can enjoy walking across this quirky bridge to take in the beauty of the surrounding area while appreciating its lovely restoration work.
Beautiful and well constructed bridge with superb views up and down the river, and of Tintern Abbey. It’s a great spot to get a good photo no matter what time of day

Celtic Trails Walking Holidays

Tour operator
Travel agency
Celtic Trails Walking Holidays is a highly commendable tour operator that offers exceptional services. They demonstrate great understanding and flexibility during the pandemic, allowing travelers to postpone their trips without any issues. In May 2023, customers experience a seamlessly organized and breathtaking journey along Hadrian's Wall path in England. The accommodations provided are carefully chosen for utmost comfort, while the communication and walk pack received from Celtic Trails prove to be outstanding.
My husband and I recently completed walking the St. Cuthbert’s Way in Scotland. What an amazing way to spend a vacation and get to know a new area. The scenery in the Borders was stunning and it was so fun to talk to so many different people along the way. We would run into the locals along the way, or chat with our B&B hosts, taxi drivers and fellow sojourners from near and far. Celtic Trails organized our trip, and they took care of all the details! All the logistics required were organized and communicated to us. This was the first walking holiday that we have done and the team at Celtic Trails was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, even providing guidance for getting to and from the walk in the Borders. Their partners were so friendly, hospitable and helpful — from the B&B hosts to taxi drivers to the luggage transfer companies. I would highly recommend a walking holiday with Celtic Trails. They are a small family run business, with a high level of professional but personal service. You can trust them to take care of you!
Joy B — Google review
The staff at Celtic Trails are amazing. I just completed my first walking tour and my first trip to Scotland. Nathan and Christina were quick to reply to my emails and very kind. They treated me as an individual and listed to my questions. They helped me decide on a trail and time of year that was perfect for me. The luggage transfers went smoothly and the accommodations they booked for us were great. Some of the towns/villages we stayed in had limited choices but when talking to other walkers who used other companies, we had the better locations/rooms. I highly recommend using Celtic Trails and am sure I will be using them again in the future.

We just completed the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path walk and had a wonderful time. Celtic trails did a great job organising everything. They chose lovely accommodations, managed all of the luggage transfers excellently, and provided us with clear, relevant, and current information that made the journey easy and pleasant. We really appreciated that the proprietors of the inns and B&B‘s seemed to know Celtic Trails and consider them reputable and desirable clients. We felt that we got treated especially well because we were travelling with Celtic trails.

We just completed the Montenegro six day hike (May 20-27) and it was pure magic! Celtic Trails did a fantastic job coordinating everything; Montenegro was beautiful and the trip itself had so much variety, we were constantly in awe. We would recommend Celtic Trails to everyone; and will certainly use this fine company in the future! Thanks CT, for all your hard work to make this trip amazing! Mary, John, Evelyn and Stuart

We have used Celtic Trails twice now for Offas Dyke and have just completed the Cotswold way. Celtic Trails have been wonderful/professional both times. Its so good to be able too concentrate and enjoy the walks knowing that everything else is under control and sorted. Communication is first class, luggage transfer amazing and knowing you have them there if needed is very reassuring. We will always be using them for all our walking adventures. Thank you to all the office staff, luggage transfer drivers and all the B&B's who make us feel so welcome.

I did a six day Hadrian’s Wall walking tour in May, 2025 with Celtic Trails. There’s a lot that goes into a trip: booking accommodations, taxi transfers when needed, and luggage transfers each day. The walk pack was detailed and error free. Everything worked flawlessly and Lisa was very responsive to my questions. It was sort of a last minute trip and she somehow made it work. I’d happily book a trip with them again!
Michael K — Google review
The Celtic Trails team was a dream to work with on my recent hike on the Offa's Dyke Path! Great communication, timely responses, very helpful with an itinerary that needed tweaking; the accommodations were comfortable, and luggage and hiker transport went without a hitch. They arranged a once-in-a-lifetime trip for my companion and myself - although we had such a great experience, we are planning to go back for another once-in-a-lifetime trip! Highly recommend.

Guests can enjoy stylishly decorated rooms that provide direct access to a lovely garden—perfect for those traveling with pets.
Brilliant. There summed it up. We stayed here and learnt that during the last two years the place has been fully refurbished. The garden looks lovely, the bar is nice, serving some really nice local ale. While the restaurant, called the upper deck, was amazing. The food was lovely, as was the wine from the very extensive wine list. As for the room, we had a balcony room. The room has been finished to a very high standard and the bed was really comfortable. Also, breakfast was really good. As for the staff, they all seem to really care about the place and that you have a good stay. Great stay, great place and I can see this being a really good place for locals and visitors alike.

Popped in for an early evening bar meal on the off chance while passing The refurb to the building is first class. We both ordered their burger, which was one of the best burgers we've tasted in ages! Apparently the meat is from a farm in Herefordshire, which was so tasty, especially with the awesome relish. The staff and service were great too.

Great spot, comfy beds, tasty food, and super warm staff. They’ve thought of everything you could need. Definitely spend a night here! I have to give an extra special shout out to Kirsty the receptionist. Never in my life have I met someone so purely selfless, earnest, and caring. I genuinely think she made me a better person. She was so sweet and made sure we had a perfect time. Kirsty, if you’re reading this, I’m so sorry we didn’t get to say goodbye but we’ll definitely be back! Stefan & Dani

Stayed here for a couple of nights. A real treat. It's been really thoughtfully designed, bed big and comfy we had a balcony room which had chairs to sit and look over the gardens to the wooded hills beyond. Never been to a place before with such welcoming staff. Ate in the upper deck and it was a truly lovely meal. Highly recommended. It's also in a really beautiful location.

We’ve just returned from a 3 day break at the wonderful Royal George Hotel in Tintern. The place offers great accommodation in a beautiful setting with a variety of excellent food options. Having only re-opened 5 weeks prior, there were some understandable minor niggles, which related to the major refurbishment work, but which were swiftly addressed immediately & efficiently by the very responsive management & his staff who are clearly fully committed to making this a special place to visit. We had 2 evening meals in the “upper deck” where the food quality was a credit to the Chef and his team, the restaurant staff under Rob’s leadership were professional and, more importantly, extremely personable, to create a memorable dining experience, rounded off by the chef circulating for feedback and even parting with some of the secrets to his flavours! Breakfast is served in the bar area and mirrors the restaurant’s standards of food & service. Our only negative issue was the presence one morning of a visiting hotel-group associate at breakfast, working on her laptop and talking with her mobile speakerphone at volume, which the breakfast room had to endure for over twenty minutes. Otherwise, I can only commend and thank Joe Costa and his team for their efforts to make it such a pleasant stay.

Sunday lunch food as spot on and good portion sizes. Good selection of beers and ciders at ok prices. Can’t fault anything. I’d come again.

With its charming outdoor seating surrounded by vibrant plants and flowers, it’s the perfect place to unwind after exploring the abbey. The menu boasts an array of delicious options, including hearty fried breakfasts, tasty paninis, and comforting jacket potatoes.
First came here in about 2013/2014 and it was fantastic. The scones were the best I’ve ever had. Didn’t disappoint all these years later! Be sure to arrive earlier for clotted cream though! The butter was very good too though!

Had a coffee stop here after a walk around the nice village. Prices actually better than I thought given the location and constant stream of people in the village. Nice Latte, unfortunately no cream or marshmallows for the hot chocolate. Scone was ok but not much jam.

Surprisingly good espresso. Really tasty full breakfast, sausage patty is the highlight.

Nice cafe which is right next to tintern abbey and it's obviously a tourist trap. The breakfast was good but it's the smallest breakfast I've ever had.The plate it was served on was very small so looking at the photo it doesn't look to bad but the plate wasn't much bigger than a side plate and I've no idea how they can manage to cut the black pudding so thin,it really must have taken a lot of skill to slice it like that. There was a very small sausage patties aswell which did taste nice but at £10.00 it really was a rip off.i left feeling like I hadn't even eaten anything.Everything on the plate tasted excellent but at that price I think there really should have been 2 of everything except the beans as there was plenty of them.Theres no way I'd ever eat here again as like I said it's just a tourist trap ripping you off.nice staff and settling tho but I definitely wouldn't return here

We stopped off to wave our son past on a 1000km cycle race - the staff couldn't have been nicer, more welcoming or more helpful. We only had tea (it was a baking hot day) but that was really well made - a lovely cuppa. Tintern Abbey remains on our "to visit" list, and we know exactly where we'll be going back to for refreshments when we visit!

Dreadful. Avoid at all costs. Waited far to long for tea and cream scones. Overheard in the kitchen that they'd run out of jam, then the assistant said "well it doesn't say what jam" scones came with very rustic blackcurrant jam not what you'd expect for a cream tea. The scones left much to be desired. Waited longer, still no tea, so I asked where it was another ten minutes and 2 builders mugs of hot water with a tea bag in were plonked in front of us. By this time enough was enough and I asked for my money back. Rude and condescending woman reluctantly agreed while telling me I would've been asked if I wanted a cup or a mug. (I was not.) She stated the same again prompting me to say I wasn't lying. What a disappointing and awful experience which ruined am otherwise pleasant day out. Please don't waste your time and money in my experience it's just not worth it. Also we were told we couldn't order other food due to staff going home but the guy in front had been allowed to order, although in hindsight this was a blessing in disguise.

The Rose & Crown in Tintern is a charming riverside pub offering casual rooms with a furnished terrace that provides scenic views of the river. The pub serves home-cooked food, a selection of ales, and has a dedicated vegan menu. It's known for its friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. The beer garden by the river offers lovely views of the River Wye and surrounding countryside, making it an ideal spot to relax and enjoy drinks.
Really good, friendly country pub that serves beautiful food at good prices. It's not £17 a baguette, it's £17 for a 8 Oz steak with all the trimmings in a baguette. It's dog and walker friendly They serve a beautiful Sunday lunch. Serves as a nice hub to walk the Wye valley. Highly recommend.

The landlady was so lovely. The food was delicious and tons of it. It was my birthday and when dessert came out, there were candles on it. Such a lovely surprise. It’s situated on the river, a beautiful location. Would recommend it unreservedly. You won’t be disappointed.

The Old Station Tintern, once part of the Wye Valley Railway, has been transformed into a charming visitors center. It features old carriages to explore, a delightful tea room, and several marked trails suitable for various walking preferences. Situated alongside the picturesque River Wye, it offers a play park for children, a sculpture walk, and even houses a real train on its grounds. The area around the visitor center is flat and accessible with picnic benches available.
Stopped here on the way past and was pleasantly surprised. Great little cafe, zip line , small park & a converted train carriage that shows the history of the line. Easy access to a nice walk along the river bank. Parking was £2.20 for a few hours but everything else was free. If your in the area definitely worth stopping there.

This is a lovely spot for a relaxing break, especially if you're interested in a bit of history. The restored station buildings and signal box are well-maintained and charming. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the cafe - the bacon sandwiches are particularly noteworthy! They also have plenty of outdoor seating if you prefer a picnic lunch. For families, there's a great play area to keep the little ones entertained. We didn't have time to explore the miniature railway or riverside walk this visit, but they're definitely reasons to come back. We tried several times and every time has different experience.

A lovely little cafe and picnic area. The old station has been converted into a really nice railway cafe that also boasts a small information center housed by an old carriage, a large picnic area, covered outside seating and some really cool statues on its grounds. There is even a ride on miniature railway here to try. Really cool. It also sits right on the Wye Valley walk route.

Loved our stay at the Kingstone Brewery. The cabin was so lovely and cosy. Shame we didn't get to do the Brewery tour and tasting as they were closed on Thursday/ Friday. Pizza night is really good ( although if you are a mushroom hater like me , be aware that they are all over on the meat feast pizza ) Definitely recommend 👌

Absolutely beautiful loved every moment will definitely be back! Forgot our towels but helped by the lovely owners daughter Elsie, fantastic cabin and amazing hot tub. Didn't have any food here but I'm sure it would also be lovely.

Stayed at Pioneer converted horse box with hammock, veranda and hot tub. Beautiful weekend restful and healing. Craft ales made by on site eco brewery lovely. Gorgeous Monmouthshire. Would recommend 💚🖤
Zobo 7 — Google review
Recently stayed in the Golding's Cabin which was lovely in itself, but was marred by the run down nature of the site. There was a large pile of rubbish in bin liners and wood as if ready to bring right outside the cabin ruining the view, and some of the greenhouses need some TLC. The brewery shop was closed every time I tried to visit for a pint, with no indication on who to call on to open it up. In fact, we didn't see the owners at all until the final day: what really left a sour taste in my mouth was during our last morning at the cabin, a group of men came right up to our door and started setting up the new hot tub right next to us. Any sense of seclusion or privacy was immediately destroyed. In addition, the owners turned up and began emptying a car load of wood at our doorstep. Not only was it incredibly unprofessional but left us feeling rushed out of our last day of our holiday. I'm most disappointed in the service we received overall.

Stayed in the Brambling Cross Cabin, it was wonderfully secluded and had all that was needed for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The hot tub was incredible and very easy to use. When the night falls, you can see every star in the sky and hear all kinds of wildlife. Got shouted at by a squirrel and made friends with birds, a bat, some sheep, some cows, bunnies and many insects. Very lovely owners and the grounds and brewery outside of the cabin were stunningly picturesque and enjoyable. Will DEFINITELY be staying again 🥰

A wonderful brewery with a lovely welcoming main room. The ales are quite fine. Serving delicious pizzas and a good salad on weekends. Book in.

Great local brewery. Since the lockdown, they have stopped serving food. There is a shop to stock up on Kingstone beers and also some local ciders from local brewers. There is a glamping site and a taproom for events. The kitchen has recently been refitted, so hopefully they will serve a light lunch in the future. I had hoped for a plowman's lunch and a beer.

The Wye Valley Sculpture Garden is a serene and sustainable venue located in the village, featuring the unique sculptures of local artist Gemma. The garden also offers two treehouse accommodations, Lychen and Mistletoe, providing a secluded and luxurious stay. Visitors can expect friendly staff, beautiful gardens with diverse plants, and stunning views. The space provides a peaceful retreat with live music in the background for all to enjoy.
We went for the snowdrop peeping and weren't disappointed. Amazing collection, including some rare varieties and the sculptures were fantastic too. If you love snowdrops and/or sculpture, this is for you. The only thing I would suggest - and it is only suggestion, not a complaint - is maybe some zero alcohol mulled cider or wine for us drivers. The verboten version smelled delicious!
T H — Google review
Nice place for a visit, but it is set on the side of a slope, so was a bit too hilly for a party member who uses a walking stick. Some of the sculptures were fantastic. All were beautifully set in the gardens. The cafe was handy for a drink and a piece of cake for refreshment after our walk around the gardens. The carrot cake however, was very dry, without much of a citrus taste.
K.A. B — Google review
Lovely place. Homely tea, coffee and cakes shop. No dogs allowed 🤨 interesting sculptures and well organized program guide listing number, name, artist and price. Very pricey to buy but no pressure to do so. No discounted senior entry fee £8! Many of the paths were steep and poorly maintained so quite dangerous for mum with canes! A lot of weeds, some beautiful flowers. The place needs a full time gardening staff.
Scott N — Google review
Wonderful gardens and sculpture garden. They have over 100 different sculptures by various artists. I particularly loved the glass work sculptures. A very fair price for adult entry - £9. Have already recommended a visit to many friends. They have a small seating area where you can get a drink and fresh cake. Stunning place to visit, very peaceful and gorgeous views.
Charlotte S — Google review
What a fantastic place to visit! Visited here on a lazy summer afternoon and enjoyed every chilled out moment of it. The staff on entry were so friendly and helpful. The main gardens and sculptures are just beautiful. Whilst I enjoyed the sculptures immensely, the gardens were just so glorious and the plants so varied. The on-site gardeners obviously know what they're doing and seeing the plants on show at this time of year was very special. For those who need a break from being on their feet or want to drink in the atmosphere, there are benches dotted about all over the place. The day we went there was a man playing Spanish style guitar. It really helped with the overall vibe of the place. There was tea and homemade cake available along with plenty of seating to sit around and further enjoy the garden. Apparently the sculptures will change every so often so we'll be making another visit at a different time of the year. There was plenty of parking available. Highly recommended!

We stayed for 2 nights, it was a lovely stay and great location. The farmhouse has charm and feels welcoming and friendly. The room was snuggly and we had a wonderful view of the river. Marta had baked biscuits that were in our room and it was a nice touch to have a coffee machine. We tried Roger’s evening menu and the food was excellent. As the farmhouse only has a few rooms it was lovely at breakfast to chat with the other guests staying. It was a very hot few days during our visit and unfortunately I had a little too much sun, Marta kindly looked after me with the electrolytes to hand! Really recommend Parva Farmhouse as a place to stay.

No hesitation recommending this wonderful farmhouse to stay and eat. Marta is a wonderful host with great attention to detail. The rooms are well furnished and equipped. The food is exceptional with an interesting breakfast menu. Shakshuka and the full cooked offer were both top notch. Great location for exploring the Wye Valley and Tintern, with walks from the farmhouse. Handy stop on Offa's Dyke walk. Beware, the area can be quiet early in the week and Roger's fabulous evening meals are only Wed to Sat. Don't miss out!
