Harbwr Abermaw Barmouth Harbour is a picturesque destination with a variety of dining options, including seafood, cafes, and ice cream parlors along the harbor. It's a popular spot for activities like crab fishing and paddle boarding when the tide is in. The area offers stunning views of Cader Idris and the Mawdach estuary, with the historic Barmouth bridge as a focal point. Visitors can explore the small marina and enjoy boat rides for two.
Lovely little working harbour area. Stunning surrounding views. Great for crabbing at high tide (there are loads of places to get equipment cheaply in Barmouth). The food and drink spots along the harbour front are all great and you can't really go wrong with whatever you choose. Definitely stop off at Knickerbockers for an ice cream.

One of my fave escapes, absolutely beautiful, surrounding area has pubs, eateries and a great friendly vibe

Beautiful place. Stunning beaches and dunes. Parking can be difficult to find if you don't arrive early. There is a train station though, if thats an option. Small funfair and amusements The shops are typically seaside and not very dog friendly. The mermaid fish shop is well worth a visit, but expect a queue.

Just love Barmouth it's a great seaside town with a lovely beach typical little fair for the little ones and plenty of little shops to visit

A pleasant little seaside town with plenty of coffee shops and cafes. The beach is very clean and good for families although it can get a bit windy. It has a good range of independent shops as well as a Coop supermarket.

Davy Jones Locker is a popular dog-friendly restaurant located right on the harbor, offering outdoor seating for guests with pets. Known for its generous portions and fresh seafood, it's a great spot to enjoy a meal after a beach walk. The quirky nautical-themed building provides great views of Cader Idris across the estuary. Visitors praise the friendly service and delicious menu, which includes scrumptious breakfasts, sandwiches, and traditional dinner dishes.
Fantastic views. Quirky cosy character is seated inside. V tasty food including gluten and dairy free options for friend. Friendly staff. What's not to love.

I came in here for breakfast as it looked a great cafe and it was, plenty of seating inside and out right next to the water which made the location absolutely fantastic.i ordered a breakfast and coffee which cost £14.95 which I thought was a bit expensive but it is in a tourist destination so I think you've got to expect that. The breakfast was good but again like a breakfast had yesterday the sausages were awful. Absolutely the cheapest rubbish sausages you could get and paying that price you'd expect the best quality ingredients. The rest of the breakfast was absolutely fine and I really enjoyed it.Just buy some decent sausages and it would have been great. The staff were fantastic and I couldn't rate them high enough.I'd definitely come back here as the cafe is excellent as is the location but I'll have lunch next time instead of breakfast
Ian B — Google review
Called in for breakfast and found it busy which you would expect in August. The wait to put my order in was longer than the wait for the food so it balanced out overall. I had the cooked breakfast and it was very well cooked but the sausages are not my thing as they tasted cheap and deep fried. Some people like them but I'd settle for a single quality sausage than two cheap ones. Other than that highly recommended.

Had a fantastic meal here with a beautiful view over the water. The breakfast was hearty, freshly cooked, and full of flavour. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere made it even better. Perfect spot to relax and enjoy good food by the sea.

Visited last Sunday, at 9 o'clock and it was already almost full. We always stop there for breakfast passing through Barmouth. A place we always enjoy and try to sit outside with fab views of the harbour. A lovely breakfast as always, definitely a great stop to make. Lovely atmosphere, friendly helpful staff. Excellent choice of food and drinks, nice to see more than 5 tea choices. Food excellent, presentation excellent, nothing too much trouble. Food arrived fairly quickly, despite it being a fairly busy time. There is a large selection of cakes in the fridge for sale. There are tables outside as well. There are no toilets, but there are some across the road. Great experience overall. Highly recommended

Pizza restaurant
Fast food restaurant
Isis Pizzeria is a charming and relaxed eatery that promises an array of delectable pizzas, catering to both meat lovers and vegetarians alike. Nestled by the harbor, it’s just a short walk from Wynnstay, making it an ideal spot for casual dining. The menu extends beyond pizza to include salads and various meal options available throughout breakfast, lunch, and dinner hours. For those who enjoy a drink with their meal, Isis Pizzeria is also licensed to serve wines and beers.
This is an amazing restaurant in an amazing location. Good menu of pizzas, burgers, paninis, baguettes, wraps, potatoes. We ate here twice while in the area because the food was so good (and service) I had pizza both visits (Chorizo & hot honey / Goats cheese) and the dough was really really good. Plenty of toppings and the tomato sauce was excellent. (I took away some of the pizza and reheated it in the microwave in our accommodation and it was nearly as good as it was in the restaurant - which is always a good sign of a quality pizza dough) My wife had the cod goujon ciabatta which was also very good. Perfectly breaded flaky cod and not greasy at all. The portion of dough balls were also lovely. Big and doughy with lots of lovely garlic butter to dip in. This might look like just another restaurant in a beach town but I highly recommend the food here, and we'll definitely be back next time we're in the area.
Sam S — Google review
Nice area and good location. We ordered the pizza and it was not good. It was under cooked and doughy. Couldn’t finish it and repeated on me all day
Rider88 — Google review
Lovely little pizza place. We were struggling to find somewhere to eat on bank holiday Friday. We asked if we could eat and they said an hour wait. We were hungry and this was more than acceptable. The food arrived after 35 minutes so that was a bonus. The staff were lovely and friendly and when the food arrived it was really nice. We had the meat feast and a pepperoni pizza with sides of tempura prawns chips and onion rings. The pizzas were amazing and the home made bases were delicious. The prawns were banging too! There were a variety of sauces you could have (brown sauce I assume for the breakfast menu). My only recommendation would be bbq as I like that with pizza crusts. Overall very happy with this eatery.
William F — Google review
We ordered 4 pizzas and they all arrived in varying degrees of under cooked to slightly too well done. It wasn't the end of the world but it was odd to not have the table checked after receiving mains. Staff didn't really have a presence other than taking the order at the till. This was in stark contrast to when we visited last year when we had a lovely chat with a lady who we presumed was the owner/manager.
Christine J — Google review
Had lunch with a large group with varying dietary needs and there was something tasty for us all. Nice and light & airy. Seating inside or outside opposite the beach so just beware of the seagulls as they've obviously heard how great the food is here too! The Pizzas are amazing as is the gluten free halloumi burger! Friendly service and for how busy it was the wait wasn't too long considering. We will be returning when next in the area!
J H — Google review
Visited on Saturday, 6th September 2025. Unfortunately, we picked this Pizzeria on the front, and as there was no room inside, we ate outside in the howling wind. A few items were not available from the menu, and what we did order was either burnt or undercooked.
Jeffrey S — Google review
Stopped off today while walking around Barmouth and im so glad we did, we sat straight away, ordered (too much for 2 people 😄) and we didn't have to wait very long at all, food was amazing and we definitely ordered too much but I would definitely be back
Nikki F — Google review
Called in here for a bit of lunch. Stood waiting to be served -for a while as the person using the till was either having issues or inexperienced, Pushed past and glared at by one particular member of the waiting on staff, moved aside to let her past on several occasions but her body language and lack of friendly smile towards customers spoilt the experience. Eventually made it to the counter and was served, but same issue again, struggling to find prices to charge customers and operate checkout, all whilst stood waiting and being made to feel I was in the wrong place and inconveniencing the staff. Eventually was served, completed sale, waited for drinks and food and left. Wouldn't rush back again, I'll go somewhere else that appreciates my business and money.

Ice cream shop
Knickerbockers Ice Cream Parlour is a hidden gem that has been serving delightful treats for over a century. Despite its small menu, it offers a mix of classic favorites and unique flavors like mango-passionfruit sorbet. Located in Barmouth, it's more than just an ice cream shop; it's an experience that adds sweetness to your coastal visit.
Well worth a visit when in Barmouth, along with the other independent shops. Over 15 flavours to choose from, including vegan options. When there is a queue be patient as its a tough decision. Might be worth the owners having a daily list outside to help with decision making. We had Rum & Raisin and cherry ripple, close decision between midnight mint! Both absolutely delicious. There is a variety of cones to choose from or tubs. A few tables outside or plenty of benches by the harbour to enjoy your ice cream and the lovely view of the Mawddach estuary.
Tequila * — Google review
Best ice cream in Barmouth! It’s a popular shop, if it’s a nice day expect to queue, worth the wait though! Massive choice of ice cream, and also a very good selection of sorbets. Good prices, nice clean interior if not a bit tacky and pink, but that doesn’t change the fact the ice cream is amazing! I make sure I get one every time I go to Barmouth!
C J — Google review
Good selection of ice creams, kept together away from the rest of the flavours. Gluten free cones available, asked for new scoop and gloves - no problem. They do state that due to the volume of gluten products available (cones, wafers) that they must say it ‘may contain’ but with 3 coeliacs having a cone and ice cream we had no issues.
Jonathan D — Google review
Been too knickerbockers for years, the ice cream tastes ok, but the prices are high. Too makes it worse on this visit I noticed the ice cream Tubs have now gone even smaller, £4 for a small scoop of ice cream is insane. You get more ice cream in a mini McFlurry for £1.69. I won’t be bothering going again, the prices and the amount you get for your money is shocking.
Jay J — Google review
Firstly - EXPENSIVE!!! £3 a scoop! The flavours sounded nice tasted bad. The lotus was terrible. The Dubai chocolate was mediocre at best. The apple pie was good. The snickers was ok. The queue took forever to go down. Just find another ice cream place. They also don’t serve knickerbockers
Sarah A — Google review
It may be a familiar sea-side tradition but Knickerbockers are making sure that ice-cream is beyond familiar with a large rand of flavours and quality cones plus toppings. Very nice indeed. This was a return visit after sampling 4 weeks before as well.

We’ve eaten here many times and are never disappointed. Today was a fairly impromptu Sunday lunch. The croquettes were delicious (I could have been happy just eating plate after plate of these!) and then we chose the duck with a honey, ginger and brandy sauce - the latter was so gorgeous my husband had an extra jug. We shared a chocolate dessert - sublime. All complemented by a Portuguese red. Thank you for a wonderful lunch on a grey Sunday.

soo lovely! we had the salmon and goats cheese starters, monkfish and cod loin for mains, and the ‘alaska’, affogato, and blackcurrant sorbet for desert. all were DELICIOUS but especially the ‘alaska’, it was unreal!!

Was lucky to stumble upon this restaurant while we were visiting Barmouth for the day. Not a big restaurant but the interior was elegantly decorated with bossa nova playing in the background. I had duck pate for starters and it was up to standard. My partner had poached egg, Stilton and mushrooms which was incredible! We also had rack of lamb which was very tender. Definitely worth visiting again!
Joli B — Google review
Perfectly formed local bistro with delicious food. The restaurant is tiny with only about 14 places per sitting and our waitress was attentive and warm. We had salmon and beef wellington's and they were absolutely delicious. One of the highlights of a week stay in the area and highly recommended.

I booked a table here for the Friday evening, it was so good I returned for dinner on the Saturday. Food is beautifully cooked. Presentation is fantastic too. An inventive and interesting menu. A tiny gem. You need to book to ensure you get a table. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the ingredients and the imagination of the chef. All the staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. Will definitely return.

Absolutely delightful dinner! All food was simple and prepared with such care, incredibly satisfying, including desserts (and good desserts are hard to come by!). The wine selection was also really good, not too pricey but perfect for the food and very enjoyable. Excellent atmosphere and service. Will be back if in town again!

Historical landmark
Nestled in the heart of Barmouth, Frenchmans Grave at Dinas Oleu, or "Fortress of Light," is a captivating destination steeped in history and natural beauty. This remarkable site was the first land gifted to the National Trust back in 1895 by Mrs. Fanny Talbot, a dedicated local philanthropist who envisioned preserving its wild charm for future generations.
The first donated site to the National Trust is open to enjoy, just the Frenchman's Grave is closed. Me and my 4 legged had a wonderful wall through the spot offered as 'sitting room for city dwellers to breathe'. The views are wonderful.

Scenic Railroads
Fairbourne Railway is a family-friendly steam train that offers scenic rides through a beautiful landscape. Take a memorable journey to the highest peak in Wales, Snowdon, which dominates the picturesque Snowdonia National Park. The attraction also features a charming cafe and a miniature model railway. Additionally, visitors can catch the train to Barmouth Ferry point and enjoy the experience of crossing over on a small boat. It's worth noting that there is an additional cost for this ferry ride.
Fantastic little railway. We was able to get some free on street parking. 2 adults and 2 children came to £32, but that was all day travel and you can come back as much as you want within the next year if you gift aid. Cafes and toilet at the station. Beautiful scenery.
Emily T — Google review
We visited during school half term. The train journey itself isn't really picturesque but it is a bit of a nice novelty for little ones. Carriages are quite small and not the most comfortable, but the trip isnt long so not really an issue. There was a little shop at the station and a cafe (not open when we visited on Sat) at the ferry stop. There are toilets at the ferry stop but these were locked on our outbound journey (open inbound). Walk down to the ferries could be tricky for some - you have to cross sandy dunes and then a rocky shoreline.
Barry ( — Google review
It was a great day out with the family, scenic drive to Barmouth. A gentle stroll along Barmouth Bridge to Fairbourne.Awesome views of Snowdonia and surroundings. En route a dash to the beach, watching the children play and listening to the waves rolling with the wind whistling. Next was a pit stop, grabbing some chippy and drinks. Then it was on the choo choo, to Barmouth Ferry for the final leg across the Estuary. Fantastic day adventure. We all enjoyed the relaxing day. Our travelling modes, car, rail and boat. My boy mentioned we're missing air, I replied next time lad, we'll do a helicopter....
Repsol P — Google review
A relatively short but fun and very panoramic mini steam rail trip for the family to then get the even smaller but equally fun ferry boat at the end of the line across to Barmouth. Good value for money for a family steam locomotive trip.
Nick H — Google review
A delightful ride on the miniature train which is about 20 minutes each way. All the people running it and working with the train & in the ticketing etc were really friendly & lovely. It was a lovely way to spend part of the afternoon. If we had planned it better time wise, we would have combined it with the water ferry to Barmouth. Will definitely do that next time.
Eileen P — Google review
Had a great day using the railway. We started in Barmouth town and used the nice clean free toilets next to the marina. Then paid £4 each (cash or card) to get the ferry across the water to Barmouth Ferry station (which only took a few minutes) The boat drops you off on the pebble beach and then it's a one minute walk to the station (which also had a nice toilet, hot drink vending machine and plenty of seating inside and outside) When the steam train arrived the staff were very friendly and helpful and answered all my questions happily. You can pay them to get a ticket with cash, or if paying by card we were told to buy the ticket at the other end of the line (Fairbourne station) The train ride to Fairbourne station took 30 mins and is very scenic. It's only 2 miles so you can walk on a lonely path next to the tracks, but the train experience is fun (and we were saving our legs for more walking) The train stops at Fairbourne for 30 mins which was enough time to get a really good coffee at 'The Deli' a minute walk from the station and use the free public toilet in town (opposite the deli) We also purchased our train ticket at the station shop which also has a massive model railway/museum as well as lots of information about the Fairbourne Railway. We got the train back up to Loop Holt station (make sure you tell the train staff if you want to get off at a station in the middle) From Loop Holt we crossed the road and did the mist amazing scenic walk across to Morfa Mawddach station (also has nice few toilets) where we crossed the tracks and turned left to continue the amazing scenery walk back to Barmouth across the train bridge (which has a walking path next to the tracks) We were very lucky with the weather and had the most amazing day of scenery with a relaxing train ride in-between great walking. Highly recommend doing this, and we will definitely be back in future to repeat the day! Note - To get to the boat from the marina you have to go down a few steep steps, and on the beach side you have to walk down a thin wooden plank to get off the boat (not an issue for us, but be aware if you have mobility issues or young children) Note - At Fairbourne station there's also a main line station across the road. We parked at Barmouth to start our day but good to know you can do everything using public transport too
Sam S — Google review
Totally worth it! The team had to put on an extra two carriages to fit everyone on due to a coach tour but didn’t affect the timings too much. Approx 20 mins ride each way with a short 5 second tunnel at the Fairbourne end. There is an option to get a ferry over to Barmouth and there is regular services back to Fairbourne and a couple of beaches at the Fairbourne station (with toilets & cafe).

This renowned establishment also extends a warm welcome to canine companions, allowing them to accompany their owners in the bar area.
The Last inn, I have eaten here now three times and each time had ribeye steak as never fails to disappoint and holds the title in my mind as the best steak I’ve had. A generous portion sizes with banging peppercorn sauce. We visited on a busy Saturday and managed to find a table which was lucky as is often fully booked. The owner Ted was very helpful explaining the menu, which was a huge interest to my girlfriend as loves fresh fish which they offer served which a variety of different sauces, she went with tomato and basil which was delightful. The menu is full of options for everyone, the portion sizes are good and drinks available at a reasonable price. They allow well behaved dogs which is a bonus. Next time we will be back but ensure we book in advance. Highly recommended!

Was highly recommend so called in treat ourselves. I settled for the sea bream with a side of king prawns which I found very disappointed by 5 prawns in a burnt garlic sauce just short of £7 a fillet of sea bream which came with a sauce with absolutely no flavour were had to ask bar person what it was . My husband had the burger with side of onion rings which look amazing but full of oil .Very disappointed

I've always had a special place in my heart for the last inn! They really know how to throw a great time with live bands and awesome disco nights, not to mention their fantastic food menu. I recently tried their new special, a surf & turf sharing platter, and I went for the ribeye from a local butcher. You can pick from a variety of chips or fries, and I opted for their truffle & parmesan fries, so delicious! The ribs were incredibly tender, and the meat just fell off the bone. Seriously, everything was cooked to perfection! It was such a delightful experience!

Steak and Guiness pie here is incredible, proper wedge, not one of those diddly little pot pies with just a lid. Would definitely recommend. Great service! Good gluten free options available for my partner too.

Stumbled into this cracking pub and, by some divine pub-god miracle, we landed the golden seat – a table for two right by the door. Prime spot for people-watching… or judging, depending on how many Guinnesses you’ve had. Speaking of which – the Guinness? Top draw. Creamy, cold, and smoother than a Barry White album. The missus went full Somerset and ordered a Cheddar Valley cider. One pint in, she was already talking like a Wurzel. We ordered grub – well, she did: a fish sandwich with Stilton, bacon, and chunky chips. Sounds like it shouldn’t work. Tasted like it was sent from heaven by a beer-bellied angel. Proper filling too – no messing about. Back on the train, I’m buzzing from the black stuff and chatting nonsense. Turn to see the missus? She’s sparked out. Cider had kicked in like a tranquiliser dart. 10/10 would do it all again.

Quite busy when we arrived but there was a table available. Bustling for a weekday afternoon - atmosphere was great. Food was fantastic and they accommodated changing a dish to vegetarian. They sell decent treats for dogs too.

I absolutely adore this establishment, as I have had the pleasure of staying here on multiple occasions. Whether I am traveling alone and seeking a sense of security or accompanied by my spouse, I always feel safe and well taken care of. The level of service provided is exceptional, with impeccably tidy and cozy rooms that ensure a comfortable stay. One individual in particular, Joe, deserves special recognition for consistently going above and beyond to guarantee an outstanding experience.
We are staying in the Barmouth area for two weeks and we have dined here three times. The menu is outstanding and the food is beyond delicious. I have rarely had better food anywhere than I have here. Fine dining at its best and not overly expensive either and the food is worth every penny. The staff are also very friendly and also knowledgeable about the menu. There is also an excellent wine menu. Also a welcoming bar and outside area if you just want to have a drink. I can't recommend highly enough!

Wow what a Sunday lunch! This meal was incredible across all courses. The staff were very warm and friendly. They went above and beyond for us yesterday. Savannah was exceptional and managed to fit us in following us booking the wrong day. Absolute star. Highly recommend this restaurant.

This place is amazing!! Me and my partner went there to celebrate my birthday and our engagement and we couldn’t have been more impressed!! We were warmly welcomed as we entered by both the manager and waitress, wished a happy birthday, congratulated on our engagement, told of anecdotes of one of their engagements and just thoroughly well looked after. The service was 10/10, no notes!! And the food, omg incredible is an understatement. I wouldn’t call myself a connoisseur of fine food but dear god I’m going to try to be now because everything was just incredible. Seasoned and cooked to perfection we couldn’t have enjoyed the whole experience any more! Well done team!!!

We had a great experience at The Fanny Talbot. From the moment we stepped through the door, every member of staff made us feel welcome. There’s a warmth and friendliness to the team that makes the whole visit memorable—but a special mention must go to Savannah, attentiveness, infectious smile elevated the entire evening. The food was exceptional. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, but it was the depth of flavour in the sauces that truly stood out—rich, balanced, and utterly delicious. It’s clear the kitchen team takes real pride in their craft. We left already thinking about our next visit. Thank you to everyone who made it such a special evening—we hope to return one day soon!

A great restaurant for true foodies. Beautifully presented food, with expertly combined flavours. Portion sizes were perfect to enjoy multiple dishes. We had a 3-course lunch and enjoyed every bit of it. Professional service. The drinks selection was excellent too.

This is an excellent restaurant. The food is beautifully prepared and there is a well chosen wine list. The service is crisp and welcoming, the atmosphere is warm and the prices are very reasonable, considering the quality. It’s a really lovely place to have a meal. Top marks.

Restaurant is intimately decorated with low lighting and a nice ambience. Had a nice little courtyard out front for pre/post meal drinks. Staff very attentive, able to recommend alcohol free drinks and adjust cooking of raw meat due to being pregnant. We had the 2 and 3 courses and it was beautiful. Perfect for a special occasion .

Gem of an establishment. We popped in for lunch. The food was amazing. Particular standouts were the lamb and pork belly with the side order of chips being some of the best ever. Dog friendly and extremely reasonable prices considering the hight standard of food and good portions. Highly recommended. I would definitely go again.

Restaurant
Foxglove is a cozy and dog-friendly restaurant in Barmouth that stands out for offering 100% organic vegan food. It's a unique dining option where you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast or lunch with your furry companion. The staff is known for being very friendly and welcoming to dogs, making it highly recommended by visitors. The restaurant offers a five-course set menu featuring organic and locally sourced products as well as foraged food.
On a holiday to Wales, I was looking for a vegan restaurant. I saw that the Foxglove was nearby and had incredible reviews, and I knew I had to visit. I am so glad the reviews were right, as I cannot explain how amazing my experience at the Foxglove was. This unassuming small and cozy restaurant is run by the lovely owners, Antonella and Luke. They forage and create an amazing 5-course tasting menu that changes weekly. Each course came out looking beautiful and so interesting and Antonella explained what each component was. I was fascinated and so impressed by the details. I have never had anything quite like it, and in an age of faux meat, the ingredients did all the talking. Luke, the chef, was so humble in his creations. He worked in a Michelin-starred restaurant, and this showed by the standard of food. It was a fine dining meal but with the ambiance of eating at your friend's house. As a vegan of 5 years, this was one of the best meals I have ever had. Everything, for me, was perfect, and I am very grateful to have found this restaurant. I am just so sad that I live five hours away, but I will definitely come back again. Thank you again Antonella and Luke, Michelle and Neil

What a vegan gem! Nestled in beautiful Barmouth. From start to finish Antonella was incredibly attentive and informative about the wonderful menu and foraged delights on offer. The food was amazing! Textures, flavours and seasonal produce all meticulously planned and considered. And to finish a wonderful after dinner conversation with Antonella, super chef, lovely next door neighbour and dog Axel. Overall an excellent evening. 🙂🙏

I don’t ever write reviews but this place is something very special! Antonella & Luke not only provide an exceptional, dog and child friendly dining experience! The food is divine! Being an avid new forager from the east of the country, I had never tried chanterelles or hedgehog mushrooms! Antonella made sure she save me both & sent me away with some to cook myself! I really wish I lived closer & won’t ever forget this exceptionally special meal! How this place doesn’t has a 6 month waiting list is beyond me! Thank you so much Antonella & Luke!

We travelled an hour and a half to eat here and it was completely worth it. Incredible vegan organic food, and so inventive. I've never eaten food quite like it. The atmosphere is wonderful too. We're already trying to work out when we can come back.
Jamie G — Google review
As a lifelong meat eater this was a very different dining out experience for me. One that I definitely do not regret trying. From the initial welcome the evening was excellent. Detailed explanation of every course including what has been foraged and from where. The atmosphere and food was excellent. Not only delicious (yes I am talking about vegan food) but beautifully presented. A pregnant lady on the table next to us had picked a book on vegan pregnancy off the shelf to look at & was told she could take it home. My partner commented how much she had enjoyed some of the items and was told how to source them rather than any attempt to sell them with a mark up. I will always be a meat eater & these guys are not ones to try and convert you. I am looking forward to visiting again. Thank you for a wonderful evening

We had an amazing meal at Foxglove recently. Just love this place. Staff are really friendly and dogs are made VERY welcome too. Highly recommended, well worth our 5 hour round trip and we'll definitely be back. The food is all vegan but the 2 tables closest to us, the people were non-vegan and loving the food. 5*
Jan F — Google review
Every single dish we polished off. The menu was incredible. We tried foods that had been foraged that we have never tried before. The owners are so friendly and I would recommend anyone to go there. We thought the prices were beyond reasonable for the 5 courses and the knowledge the owners had about their food. They were also so accomodating for our anxious rescue dog. An amazing experience 💚✨️
Tara — Google review
We came to Barmouth for a long weekend and was so delighted to have found Foxglove. We are not strict vegans but try and eat as clean and healthy as we can. After seeing the images online and seeing the only menu option was a £45 course taster. We had no hesitation to book. Everyone of the courses was delicious, each had a flavour and character of their own, not one of them disappointed. The staff were lovely and very accommodating, the Kombucha and Prosecco washed down each dish perfectly. I would love to give Foxglove 5 stars but sadly the housekeeping of the toilet let the whole experience down, if only they would put enough passion in to the cleanliness of the toilet as they do with their food I would even give 6 stars. Keep up the good work Floxglove but please spend a little money on your washroom, a good deep clean would go along way to give your clients a fantastic experience. Can’t wait to visit again when we’re back in Barmouth.

One of our favourite places to go after a day on the beach, we always look forward to coming here and have done so for a number of years now. Lovely pub just set back from Fairbourne beach with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, great food, great service and a really nice atmosphere. Good to drop in for a drink when you have been to the beach, just got off the steam train, or just fancy a drink or some food in a nice setting with a great view

Lovely bar/grill with a small arcade attached for kids. Staff were so friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Dog friendly. Didn’t have anything to eat but looked at the menu, was very reasonably priced with some delicious sounding specials.

What a great find! Several vegan options and we couldn't resist the vegan shepherd's pie on a wet, rainy day. It was great, just what we needed. Plenty of veggie and meat options too. Brilliant staff, very personable and clearly want you to have a good time. Car park opposite, reasonable charges. Would definitely visit again when next in the area. Can get busy, so may be a wait in peak times, but we got there half an hour before the dinner rush so timed it really well!

Headed to here after getting the train from barmouth to fairbourne. I had the braised beef from the specials, wife had katsu chicken and kids the usual chicken nuts. We were blown away at the quality of the food would certainly visit again.

What a great find! Just caught the ferry over from Barmouth to Fairbourn and stumbled across this place. They have an amazing choice for vegetarians. Wonderful selection of drinks in the pub and there's is an ice-cream parlour on the side, it's a 10 from me!
Leon B — Google review
The atmosphere was very quiet, and for the most part, the food was above average. However, my daughter's burger was heavily seasoned, resulting in a bad taste, and she only ended up eating the chips and salad wasting money. This was a negative point, especially since the burger was not described accurately on the menu. Additionally, I noticed that under 16s were serving and cleaning tables, which raised some concerns. Finally, the toilets been located next to the kitchen is also concerning and I believe the food and drink prices are too high.

Barmouth Beach, also known as Traeth Abermaw, is a popular destination in northern Wales. It offers a classic British seaside experience with its summer funfair, fish and chips, candy floss, and amusement arcades. The beach provides stunning views of the Mawddach estuary and the impressive Cadair Idris mountain. Situated in Snowdonia National Park, it's an ideal spot for relaxation after hiking.
Stunning Day Out at Barmouth Beach! We had an absolutely lovely time visiting Barmouth Beach! The views were truly stunning, with a wide expanse of sandy beach that's perfect for families. There’s plenty of space for kids to run around, play games, and build sandcastles ideal for a relaxing day by the sea. The beach itself is clean and well maintained, and it wasn’t overcrowded even during peak hours, which made our visit even more enjoyable. Parking was very convenient, with a large car park (Barmouth Main Car Park) located just next to the beach. Public toilets are also available nearby at Barmouth Public Convenience, which was a big plus, especially with kids. There are plenty of attractions close to the beach, including a children’s play area, small fairground rides, and various food stalls. It’s a great place to grab a bite or treat yourself to some classic seaside snacks. We also enjoyed a peaceful walk along the promenade, which offered lovely views of the Barmouth Bridge a beautiful spot for photos or just taking in the scenery. There are also some nice restaurants along the seafront if you fancy a sit down meal. Overall, it was a very positive experience, and we will definitely be coming back again!

Nice a peaceful beach .very quiet as compared to other beaches . This beach offers a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, making it a pleasant spot for families and anyone looking to unwind. There are a few simple games for children and even traditional donkey rides, adding a nostalgic charm to the experience. While the setting is enjoyable and has the potential to be a real gem, it’s let down by a lack of proper maintenance and care from the local council. Facilities may be a bit worn or under-serviced, no shower and changing facilities for visitors which is a shame which is a shame given the beach’s otherwise lovely character.

Very good place to spend the time. Really nice long, wide and mostly sandy beach with shallow, quite clean and warm water. Close to the town infrastructure like parking spaces, toilets, shops, restaurants and children's fun fair. I try to be there every year when the weather is perfect like yesterday heatwave. 1 star less for letting barbeques on the beach.

On a over cast rainy day we ventured out to Barmouth. Plenty of parking space opposite the beach £1.55 for 2 hours. Small market was in full flow and there are varied shops and cafes. Had a great walk around and a good look at the Barmouth Bridge although there was a lot of fog coming off the mountains. Would be great to visit here when the weather is sunny. Definitely Will return to Barmouth

We came for a holiday and stayed a few villages over. We came to the beach nearly everyday and our children loved it. The beach is so lovely a clean and the water is crystal clear. The children loved splashing around and playing. We enjoyed going in the arcades and looking around all the shops. It is a quaint little town that we would definitely visit again.

I stayed at The Royal with my wife and two girls for two nights. We had a fantastic time. The room was amazingly clean and the hospitality was fantastic. Really enjoyed my visit to The Roal. The staff were friendly and gave a warm welcome as soon as we walked in, which made all the difference. The pint of Thatchers Gold was spot on — ice cold and properly poured. It’s a relaxed, inviting place, and I’d 100% go back again for drinks or food. Great atmosphere and service — definitely worth a visit.

Well from the moment we checked in the staff were very friendly and professional. Room was very spacious and well equipped. Fridge and fan which we didn't expect and the tea tray didn't disappoint. We stayed for five nights and even though we were right above the front door noise was expected but not really an issue. You are pre-warned before booking: guests have their own entrance so don't have to go through bar if don't want to which was nice. You can choose your breakfast the night before from a tick list but don't have to: we found it very helpful. Going for breakfast in the morning was a look forward to moment because from the first morning to the last we were greeted with a smile and a laugh from the exceptional team of the chef and especially Brian(Daddy). Paul(Puppy). And banana. We had such a laugh and set us up for the day with a smile: Can't recommend this place to stay enough. We had a fantastic time there: will definitely be going again. Barmouth Ferry

Ferry service
Barmouth Ferry offers a charming boat ride between Barmouth Harbour and Harbour View Cafe across the Mawddach River. The ferries are timed to coordinate with a small gauge railway that takes passengers to Fairbourne, where shops, a pub, and a golf course await. However, it's important to note that the ferry can only carry 8 people at a time and may have long queues during peak times. Additionally, the return point from Barmouth changes at low tide.
This is not exactly a "ferry station ". It's actually just a spot on a beach where you buy a ticket to ride in an 8 person boat over to the town of Barmouth once you get off the miniature railway. The boat ride is only 10 mins and it's so cute. It can get crowded quick so be prepared. The boat captain was very nice and helped people get on/off safely. Highly recommend!
Deborah S — Google review
Nice trip across the estuary from Barmouth Pier to Fairbourn Ferry miniature railway station. On the Fairbourn side don't look for a jetty the boat stops wherever depending on the tide. Boats are small 8 seaters and are ok with dogs. A little pricey £4.00+ per adult one way. Take cash or card. A nice trip for something a little different.
Andrew L — Google review
A great way to cross to the other side without the long walk over the bridge. Cost is £3 per person. £1 per dog.
Ashley G — Google review
Just across the water from Barmouth but polar opposite. Where you have the hoards of people and the noise and razz matazz of Barmouth this is a lovely spot to pull up, chill out and soak up the views of the estuary. If your missing the noise and hustle and bustle of Barmouth it is only a short boat trip away. Parking is limited to best to get there early and park sensibly so everyone can get a chance To park. The local council could do with emptying the bins more often as they were over flowing today ( i suspect its the nice weather and camper vans turning up en masse ) its a lovely walk back to Fairborne or cycle ride. As usual enjoy the views, remember not everyone loves your noisy jet ski! And leave only footprints and dispose of your rubbish responsibly.

Nice little cafe for a snack & a cup of tea/coffee, toilets on site, take the steam train to the harbour ferry station then cross over to Barmouth by the small ferry £2.50. nice views of the estuary from the boat .
Hayley E — Google review
Not a lot of people can resist the chance of a boat ride and the boats that ply a trade between Barmouth Harbour and Harbour View Cafe on the other bank of the Mawddach River are a terrific way to make an adventure from a trip to the beach. The ferries are timed to connect with the small gauge railway that dutifully transports passengers to the stops along the way to the terminus at Fairbourne where a typical beachfront collection of shops, a pub, and a gold course are situated.
Steve G — Google review
Ferry from Barmouth to Barmouth Ferry Station is nice and useful when someone want to walk round or to go to Fairbourne steam train. Ferry cost £3 per person. Small boats is limited by weather, when is very windy and big waves, is no Ferry...boat can carry 8 persons...
Michal T — Google review
Nice little shuttle ferry across the estuary. Just be warned that if you take the Fairbourne train then you might be in quite a queue for the ferry as it only carries 8 people at a time. There were two ferries when we were waiting which took about an hour to get on a boat. £2.50 per person one way adult or child and I think dogs are £1. Note at low tide the return point from Barmouth changes from the steps near the public toilets to out on the peninsular.

Dolphin Fish Bar is a charming spot in Barmouth, offering a delightful selection of fresh tea, coffee, and homemade cakes. It's known for its lovely fish and chips that can be enjoyed on-site or taken out. While it may not be as famous as some other eateries in the area, it offers delicious food without the long queues. The large portions of fish and chips are particularly noteworthy, with perfectly cooked cod fillets and well-sized chips.
Finally a fish n chip shop that delivers the best quality of food and service at a great price. We tried the cod n chips and haddock n chips with curry sauce on the side. Fantastic flavor and cooked to perfection. The fish is so fresh and tasty, and the chips are cooked just right, welcoming staff with a very friendly service. Great value for money, will definitely make the Dolphin a must visit for great fish n chips.

On holiday with my sister and a friend, we liked the look of this cafe, so called in for our meal. My fish, chips, and pineapple fritter were absolutely amazing. Very very tasty 😋 and hot. The chips were crispy on the outside, delicious. The tea machine wasn't working so I was told we could go to the bakery next door to buy a cuppa and bring it back to have with my meal. Wow! Not only were our drinks nice and hot. They sold cakes. I was spoilt for choice and could have bought loads. But I only bought a Chelsea bun and a Vienese. Ver large cakes and worth every penny. Great value for money. I think 2 teas, 1 coffee, and the cakes cost about £12. My meal cost £9. Very reasonable. I definitely recommend The Mermaid - and the bakery of course.

The best of Wales. Always busy. We need to wait for at least 5 to 10 minutes. The time i were there was nearly 5 pm in the evening. I waited around 20 minutes . The best fish and ships in the whole UK . No parking. Only 17 people can eat in. The batter fried cod fis was so succulent inside and crispy outside, and the wedges they fry a massive amount of it not from the refrigerator just chop in the machine and into the pool of good quality oil we can see through the glasses itself.

We had two mini fish and chips @ £7 each for myself and partner .. kids had chicken nuggets and chips in smaller boxes. Total £24 The chips on the top appeared nice but mini fish really tiny wasn’t goi g to do a review but after you eat fee nice chips on top your left with hard crispy bits the left overs from the fryer .. it was in all 4 boxes so obviously a bulking trick they use… never again will we go there .. its a trick to get you im as you see people lining up to go in !!!!

1st time I had been however girlfriend knew about . Found a table but luck of the draw if you get one . We arrived at the right time as 10mins later the que was starring. Cooked fresh . Lovely piece of cod Plenty of chips all tasted amazing!! 10 out of 10 !!

Best fish and chips I have had in Wales. Spicy curry sauce amazing. Possibly best curry sauce in UK. Cod cooked perfectly. Chips perfectly cooked. Best spam fritter have ever tasted. Location great as a 2 minute walk to the beach. There was a queue before it opened. And a queue after we finished our meal at one of their tables. People for a reason. Not because the service is poor, the service was superb. There is a queue because of how good this place is. When in Barmouth or that part of Wales, the Mermaid is a must.

I tried a few things in the same order, sausage, chips, gravy all beautifully cooked and very tasty but I also got a fish and unfortunately every bite seemed to had bones which is a massive put off for me. I will definitely go again but I won't be able to order a fish again, very disappointing as what I did try of the fish was again very tasty and had a lovely batter.
Honest J — Google review
About an hour queue for this chippy, with people queuing down the street. Had a big group order which took less than 10 mins to make. The curry sauce was nice, but I think the portion of chips should be bigger compared to the price and how long people wait for it. I also had a halloumi fritter which was nice too, but a bit greasy underneath (which is to be expected). The two girls on the till (20/8/25 at 630pm) were sweet and helpful with our order even once we added one more portion of chips after the order had gone to the card reader.

Nestled in the charming town of Barmouth, Myrddins Brewery & Distillery Ltd is a delightful haven for beer lovers and their furry companions. This unique microbrewery offers an inviting taproom where dogs are welcome, allowing you to sip on a diverse selection of locally crafted beers and spirits while your pup relaxes by your side.
Brilliant 👍 fabulous real ales 🍺 Cider and gin and a terrific choice of drinks too take away. The pork pie platter is delicious 😋 👌.

Great bar. Excellent beer. A purple moose Porter and a Tiny Rebel stout.... So good I took 2 pints of the former away with me. Good prices too. And both Welsh 👍🏽 I was doing a bit of dog sitting, while my kids went round the shops...lovely sunny day, so I mostly sat outside. Recommended.

We have visited Myrddins Tap many times. There is always a warm welcome and everyone is friendly. There is a fantastic range of beers and cider both bottled and on draught. Food is limited to "Bar Snacks", but they are delicious and the choice really complements the drinks menu. There is also a wide range of Gins available, I have only tried a few but they are excellent. If whisky is your tipple, try the Myrddins 3-year old, it's really good. Overall an outstanding place to visit

Nestled in a quaint corner of town, Myrddins Brewery & Distillery offers a delightful escape for cider aficionados seeking quality brews in a charming setting. Boasting an impressive array of flavors, this establishment stands out with its extensive selection of tasty ciders that cater to diverse palates. The brewery's intimate ambiance, albeit rather small in size, exudes warmth and a sense of community, making it an inviting spot for both locals and visitors alike. Upon entering, the rustic decor and friendly atmosphere immediately set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable experience. One of the highlights of Myrddins is undoubtedly its diverse range of ciders, each crafted with evident care and expertise. From crisp and refreshing varieties to bold and complex flavors, there's something to please every discerning cider drinker. Whether you prefer classic apple blends or adventurous fruit-infused concoctions, Myrddins ensures a flavourful journey through their offerings. However, despite its many positives, one aspect that might detract from the overall experience is the allowance of dogs inside the premises. While some patrons appreciate the pet-friendly policy, others may find it a distraction, particularly in such close quarters. In conclusion, Myrddins Brewery & Distillery earns praise for its exceptional ciders and inviting ambiance, making it a noteworthy destination for anyone passionate about quality craft beverages. While the presence of dogs indoors might not suit everyone's preferences, it's a minor consideration compared to the overall positive impression this establishment leaves on its guests. Whether you're a cider enthusiast or simply looking to unwind with friends, Myrddins promises a memorable visit filled with flavour and charm.

Never once felt welcome here on a recent visit. Frequent visitors of Barmouth for several years & always wanted to try this establishment but never managed to in all my years visiting. We finally got to visit on our recent trip and were very excited to see what was on offer. For an establishment that sells craft & local brews I felt they’d attempt to try and sell it a little more than they did. Instead, I found there attitude unpleasant and didn’t really seem much in the way of making any conversation. I distinctively remember the lady on the bar take one look at us & tell her partner he could serve instead. She then proceeded to walk down the bar & converse with one of the locals instead. We had a drink and then left. If you’re local to the area you’re probably ok, as the reviews are all generally decent. The drinks were pleasant, the price was good but the overall vibe & was I felt unwelcome from the start means this gets a 1 from me.
Blake G — Google review
Delightful little micropub...staffed only by the owners. The food is basic but we'll priced and tasty, the ales were all in good condition, a great range of gins were also on offer...only minor criticism would be the temperature of the ale was just a touch too cold....but well worth a visit if in Barmouth.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Barmouth Bridge is a historic landmark that features a 900-yard wooden walkway and railway, offering stunning panoramas of beaches, hills, and the river estuary. Built in 1867 to carry the Aberystwyth and Welsh Coast Railway, it continues to serve local trains while providing pedestrians with the opportunity to cross for a nominal fee. The bridge offers superb views, especially at sunset, making it popular among photographers.
Well maintained bridge. There is a donation point at the Barmouth side in the form of a Toll Troll. Longer than we expected, but we were treated to a migration, possibly, of large jellyfish. Great views all round of both the bay and sea. Will definately visit again when back in Barmouth!
Gareth S — Google review
Lovely location, Barmouth was v.busy, so didn't stop in the town, but enjoyed the views from near the panoramic walk, and from the small harbour on the way out of town (the Dolgellau side) where there is a small parking area on the left. Will definitely return when the school holidays are over and take the walk across the bridge.
Rich C — Google review
Visited on Friday, 05th September 2025, once at Barmouth, I walked to and across the Barmouth Bridge from the town. I did the full walk over and then walked back. Surprised that motorcycles were allowed, and a little intimidating when they go by. I was blessed to have a scheduled train service go over the bridge when I was on it, and I recommend you try to coincide with such a service, or if you're really blessed, catch a rail tour. Lovely views all round.
Jeffrey S — Google review
I have been walking, cycling and riding over this amazing timber railway bridge for years. It has a combined walking & cycling path running parallel to the railway. The views of the Mawddach estuary are stunning whatever the weather, or the tide. It's great that Network Rail have just done a superb engineering job rehabilitating the bridge so that it will be good for years to come. I highly recommend walking over the bridge then up the hills behind Arthog and along the old road on the hillside before dropping down to the station at Llywingwril. Train back to Barmouth. Superb views over the Mawddach and Cardigan Bay
Richard N — Google review
An absolutely stunning bridge across the Afon Mawddach. The panoramic views are incredible and the rich history of the bridge creates a deeper appreciation as you cross. It’s a wonderful place to spot sea birds and if you’re lucky, you might even spot a train crossing on the joined viaduct. The trains slow down so even as the trains pass, it’s still peaceful. This bridge was an absolute delight to cross and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Barmouth/Abermaw. 5 stars!
Lauren B — Google review
Peaceful walk with stunning views worth a visit! Visited Barmouth Bridge recently and really enjoyed it. It’s a beautiful and peaceful place with great views perfect for a relaxing walk. You can park at Morfa Mawddach Station for free, but spaces are limited, so you might need to wait during busy times. There’s a toilet at the station, and a walking path from there takes you straight to the bridge. The walk takes about 20 to 30 minutes one way, so plan accordingly. Make sure to walk all the way to the Iron Bridge – the earlier part is wooden, but the iron section is especially scenic. If you check the train times, watching one cross the bridge is a nice bonus. A lovely place to visit for walkers, photographers, or anyone who enjoys peaceful views.
M K — Google review
Well this was an unexpected and amazing experience at a very quiet Barmouth. Just inside half term but not at all busy. We even only had a small queue for fish and chips. Parking was easy £7:70 for all day although the parking machine was fussy (seemed to like £1 coins but not £2 ones. Asked if prom parking was free and told by a local it was but the notice on the lamp post disagreed and stated to use the machine. The bridge is superb, both rail and foot.
Paul S — Google review
Gorgeous! Had a great walk over this and back again, did a bit of research on the train line app whilst sat on the bench at the other side and managed to time it walking back when a traine was coming over. It was fantastic!

Panorama Walk in Barmouth is a must-visit for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. This popular walking trail offers a variety of paths to explore the surrounding countryside, providing breathtaking views and fresh air. The area also boasts charming towns, historical monuments, and temples to discover. Loved since Victorian times, the walk leads to the former Panorama Gardens and rewards hikers with stunning vistas of Barmouth Bay, Barmouth Bridge, and Cadair Idris.
We parked roadside and followed an alternative trail to the main one, admittedly we did get a little lost and off course, however, once we reached the top - oh my goodness the views were to die for!! Definitely worth the detour and the struggle of up hill trekking.

Nice little walk, not to strenuous. Walk to the viewpoint in 15 minutes or less. At the vieuwpoint you have a beautiful view over Barmouth bay en on Barmouth bridge. Definitly worth to make this little stroll. There is a parking spot with ample space for parking. Parking is free.

Very beautiful in the area. Lots of places to explore the walk is quite small and suitable if looking for a big walk. The views are spectacular looking over the mountains and surrounded by the ocean. Definite must see .
Charlie G — Google review
Spectacular views from the summit. A relatively easy and short walk from the free car park.

Beautiful views. Some tricky steep steps but worth it
Steven A — Google review
Beware of Adders. Not seen often but are venomous. We walked here from the Last Inn up the '100 Steps'. Although we had a steep start, Once up these most of the other climbs are not as steep and are more prolonged which is easier for those not as fit. However it is a trodden and rocky path at points. But also has grassy parts. Beautiful views at the top and this was considering it was a bit cloudy.
Luke B — Google review
What a fantastic place to take in the breathtaking views of barmouth Harbour, fairbourne and the estuary. If you satnav this place, there is a small car park where you can start from. The terrain is typical forrest style, with a mixture of proper path ways and then just mud and stone. There are quite a few steps so this walk is not suitable for someone not so good on their feet and obviously no toilets so make sure you go before you get here! Take care as its very high up. It is also very lonely there so I wouldn't go alone! There is a bench half way up and a bench at the top...both really nice viewing points or somewhere to stop for a picnic. From the carpark it's around a 30minuet walk (with kids) to the top! Enjoy! Well worth a visit.

Penrhyn Amusements is a delightful spot for families looking to take a break from the beach while in Fairbourne. While it may not be worth a special trip if you're not already in the area, it's perfect for kids needing some fun. The arcade is well-maintained and offers great entertainment, especially on rainy days. Located conveniently on the pier, visitors can enjoy friendly service and even access baby changing facilities.
You can not beat an amusement arcade by the sea, it's part of the holiday. Great icecream and pop next door for great food and drink.

Small arcade and gift shop attached to a pub/grill. Great little place to keep the kids entertained whilst the grown ups have a drink.

Best arcades around. Great location, on the pier. They have a restaurant upstairs, which looked amazing but we didn't try out, but the staff were very friendly and let us use the baby changing facilities. They have a cash point, but it charges £1:25. And they also have an ice-cream shop too!

If your in fairbourne already it's ok for the kids to take a break from the beach etc but not worth travelling to if your not staying in fairbourne. Theres also a play park over the road for the children. It's only small and there's no toilet facilities no idea where the people have been that have written the reviews definitely not this place anyway.

Beaches
Fairbourne Beach is a picturesque stretch of coastline located in North Wales, situated on the southern side of the Mawddach Estuary. At high tide, the beach features sloping pebbled banks and grassy dunes, while at low tide, it reveals a stunning two-mile expanse of golden sand. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views from the beach and plan their activities around the tides for an optimal experience.
Gorgeous scenery surrounds this beach. There are stunning sunsets more often than not. The sand is proper lovely white sand, but the sea does come all the way up to the top so if you want soft sand wait until low tide to give it chance to dry out. The beach is NOT accessible for those who are unsteady on their legs or wheelchair bound, etc, as you have to clamber down the slope of stones to get to it. This is nowhere near as steep on the far left or far right of the beach. If you're driving here then drive down to the far right and you'll get the best views, sand and accessibility.
Rachel — Google review
Faiebourne Beach was absolutely beautiful—stretching out for miles with stunning views that seemed to go on forever. The open space made it feel peaceful and expansive. While some parts of the beach were sandy, a good portion was rocky, adding to its rugged charm. It’s a massive beach overall, perfect for a long walk, relaxing by the sea, or just taking in the scenery. A truly scenic spot that’s well worth the visit.
Taalhamimul J — Google review
Excellent beach at low tide only, high tide all pebbles. Access can only be gained from north end of beach. Beautiful spot near small village that has amusements, 1 pub, 1 hotel. Toilet facilities next to beach.
Martin E — Google review
Lovely beach, we parked to the left of the caravan site on some gravel, just after the going under the bridge. Beautiful with a mix of sand & pebbles depending on the tide. You do have to navigate some large rocks to get to it from the promenade on the side we were on - not sure if there's easier access nearer the centre of the beach. Dog friendly, lovely rock pools to explore, chilled.
Riva H — Google review
Lovely stretch of beach ⛱️ Grill opposite served fantastic food! Not much there, cute miniature train ride for kids to enjoy. We crossed the toll bridge £1.50 each way, it was an experience going over the little wooden bridge!
Rebecca E — Google review
I visited here for a week on holiday with family and it did not disappoint. Absolutely stunning beach. I would suggest looking at high and low tides to plan your days as when the tide is I'm it comes right up to the shingle edge so if you're looking for a day on the sand it would be good to plan ahead. On our first day we parked further along instead of parking in the main car park.. Big mistake for a few reasons - 1. We had to lift all of our things over the wall which as a family of 5 adults and 2 children and also 3 dogs included an awful lot of stuff including sun tents and wind breakers for the kids and pups and 3 paddle boards and 4 body boards 🙈 2. The toilets were miles away which with two year old girls who tend to announce last minute that they need a wee is hard work 🙈 3. When we got to the toilets, there was no toilet roll - but thankfully we were prepared as we had tissues for hay-fever 🤪 and no hand wash just some hand gel. For the remaining days we parked in the main park and paid the rather reasonable cost of the car park. This meant we had easy-ish access to the beach - we still had to navigate the shingle mountain and also we were close to the toilets and the incredible ice cream shop!!! I'd also recommend the fish and chip shop just up from the beach as it's delicious!!!
Sasha W — Google review
High wall and steep bank of large stones before you can get down to the beach. Plenty of parking, however and several places for refreshments. A lack of public toilets and overflowing bins can mar your experience.
Mac W — Google review
Great beach with mainly pebbles, and some sand. Quiet, serene place - a great spot to sit and have your lunch. Shops nearby stocking all your paddle boards/beach gear.

If you're on the lookout for a laid-back dining experience in Barmouth, The Barmouth Bar & Grill is definitely worth considering. This vibrant pub offers a relaxed atmosphere that embodies the charm of traditional British establishments. Their menu boasts an array of grilled meats, hearty burgers, and vegetarian delights, all crafted with high-quality ingredients and bold flavors.
Recently Found this little gem by accident, stayed here with my two boys after a busy day exploring North Wales. Greeted with extremely friendly staff. Shown to our penthouse suit which held stunning views. Ate dinner at the bar, food was incredible. Perfect location to explore the near-by beach. Very cosy room provided excellent sleep for us all to continue our adventures after a lovely breakfast. Highly recommend.

My sister and I loved our one night stay here. The room looked newly renovated and was immaculate, bed was very comfortable and we liked being able to make a hot drink after our day cycling. The spacious bathroom with large walk in shower was again spotless. The only slight note I would say is there is no heated towel rail so it did initially feel a little cool in the bathroom now that the nights are a bit cooler. I have to also mention the amazing staff, particularly Katie who went above and beyond from my first call to help with accommodating our needs. Everyone was friendly and helpful . We ate in the pub in the evening and we both enjoyed our meal and breakfast in the morning was delicious. Obviously the accommodation is located above the pub so there is some noise but we didn't find it excessive and it soon quietened down when the bar closed. We were located on the first floor and you do hear the other guests coming and going but again this wasnt a big issue. We would definitely stay here again if visiting Barmouth. Thanks to the whole team

Stopped here for dinner one night whilst staying in barmouth. The service was very quick and food was lovely. I had Persian spiced chicken kebab and fries, i was expecting a few little cubes of chicken but it was piled on. My partner said his gammon and chips was really good too

I haven't left any reviews for years but was so impressed by this place. It was clean witn plenty of seating and felt like such good value. The ribeye was a good size and amazing quality as was the fish and chips. We also got quite a few sides and they were all amazing quality. Really good value for what you get and in a great location too.

Nice enough pub with a decent pint of Staropramen and polite staff. Unfortunately, the food let it down. My burger was so processed it barely resembled meat inside, the taste was just about acceptable. My daughter’s lasagne was average at best, and my other daughter’s pizza didn’t go down well at all, only one slice was eaten, half of that by me trying it. Not for me, I’m afraid.

We had a delicious fish and chips. The fish was lovely, nice batter. The chips lovely and hot and crisp on the outside, fluffy in the inside. Home made tartar sauce was a pleasant surprise. And mushy peas to finish it off. I must also point out that the toilets were spotless (I always think about the kitchen when I see the toilets). No

We arrived without a booking, on bank Holiday Monday, and were found a table almost straight away. Really friendly service and the meals were fantastic! I visited with my partner this place two months ago and I just remembered to add this review becouse this place was so good that I can't just let it go! We have been welcomed without booking. Restaurant is dog friendly as you see on the pictures. I had extremely big and delicious flatbread and my partner burger what she said was also fresh and full of flavour. Fries was hot and crispy as should be, salad and vegetables tasted like someone just pick them up from the garden. 😋 When next time I will be visiting Barmouth this place will be on my list to make my belly happy! A lovely little cafe, clean and welcoming, staff are all lovely! Fancied a breakfast but didn't want a standard English breakfast, my partner did, we ended up with the best of both, the menu was just what I fancied, their own little twist on the usual and it was delicious. They serve the best coffee we have ever had, price is very fair also. A must try for any visitor to the area

A must stop place for anything coffee, brekkie, or brunch related. 1000% recommend, staff are amazing and food and coffee is great. Had the French toast and flat white, both were great, milk on the coffee perfectly textured (from a coffee snob)

The BEST place in town for breakfast. Highly recommend the veggie breakfast even if you aren’t veg because the sausage, the cheese, the avocado toast…absolute heaven. We have been here about a month now and it’s the only place I still crave. Their brownies practically melt in your mouth. Very friendly service, also great place to buy local honey! I’m from America and honestly I’d travel the ocean again just for the veg breakfast. Wow!

Fish and seafood restaurant
The Captain's Table in Barmouth is a popular family-run restaurant known for its warm hospitality, generous portions, and nautical-themed decor. It offers a wide variety of dishes including steaks, lamb shanks, venison, chicken, pork, seafood, and delectable desserts. The restaurant is praised for its friendly staff and is particularly recommended for Sunday lunch.
Brilliant restaurant dining in only however it's lovely and cosy got to menshion Debbie our waitress who was fantastic and dealt with our needs without any bother. Disabled access available parking over the road toilets 🚻 spotless I recommend the scallops keep up the good work 👏 🙌

Lovely restaurant in Barmouth. Greeted in person on arrival by Debbie and given choice of table. Very attentive service. Food prepared well and attractive.

Booked a table for a special birthday and we wasn't disappointed. A friendly welcome when we arrived and a relaxing atmosphere. My 7 month old grandson was with us and although he was well behaved we felt at ease throughout. We were particularly impressed with the Vegan menu that gave some good options. All Food was delicious and everyone left pleased.

Turned up yesterday for a table of 6 and hadn't booked, I think more by luck we were able to get a table. The restaurant was spotless, the staff were great and the food was amazing, infact the food was faultless. This is a little family run gem of a business which isn't normally open of a Sunday evening after 5pm but accommodated helping out the town for a busy bank holiday weekend! It's a shame more venues didn't do the same. We look forward to a return visit in the near future and also a visit to your Cafe directly opposite as l'm sure this is going to be the same quality! have seen comments regarding overpriced, This isn't true at all! It is very much priced average for the area but yet I believe for the quality and service, you are definitely getting your moneys worth here! see you soon Scott & Family

Friendly, welcoming and informal restaurant offering a range of dishes. Chose the special which was a whole seabream, delicious. The skin was crispy and salty and the flesh beautifully cooked. Came with a wide selection of vegetables. Would definitely return 😊

Absolutely amazing. The food was 10/10. We had a Sunday lunch beef with Yorkshire pudding it was beautiful. I had a desert of lemon drizzle cake and custard and hubby apple pie with cream and ice cream. Value for money and would definitely pop in again when we are in the area. Definitely recommended. Well done !!

The food wasn't great. My husband had the mussel and calamari penne and I had poached plaice with crab meat in a seafood sauce. The food we got was over cooked and it seems the mussels were a cheap frozen pack and the result was rubbery in texture. The cream sauce that it came with it was unseasoned and bland. The plaice was also over cooked and rubbery around the edges. The crab meat was unexpectedly missing and replaced with the same rubbery mussels and calamari that was on my husbands plate. Again, the creamy seafood sauce was unseasoned and bland. We ordered diet coke as our drinks these were poured from 500ml little bottles. We were waiting ages to get our bill and the older waitress walked past our table oblivious to us. The desserts were tiny and were all bought in frozen Costco specials. But the portions were half what the recommended ones were. This is a coastal town where seafood should be fresh, easy to find as this was a seafood restaurant it should have been beautiful and amazing to dine there, but it just wasn't nice.
