Nestled along the southern coast of Malta, the Blue Grotto is a stunning natural wonder that enchants all who visit. This captivating sea cave complex, accessible by boat, features an intricate network of six caves where sunlight dances on the water's surface, casting mesmerizing shades of blue onto the cavern walls. The best time to experience this spectacle is in the morning when the light creates a vivid reflection of marine life and sky hues.
Blue Grotto is one of the most beautiful spots in Malta. The water is an incredible turquoise, and the cliffs and arches look truly impressive. The best time to visit is in the morning before noon, when the sun lights up the caves and the colors of the water look absolutely stunning. Even if you don’t take the boat tour, the views from the lookout point are worth it. It’s a really special place that leaves a lasting impression.
Andrii A — Google review
It stinks that the weather "wind" kept the boat tours from happening to the grotto, but we found a fix. We took a taxi and we're at least able to get pictures from above. But these pictures don't do it justice. We also saw a tug boat pulling a fish farm of tuna around the area. Definitely would recommend seeing but hopefully by boat on your excursion.
Spencer A — Google review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mother Nature's Instagram filter came to life! 🌊 Right, prepare yourself for some serious jaw-dropping because the Blue Grotto doesn't mess about when it comes to delivering pure magic. That turquoise water? It's so impossibly blue you'll question if someone's secretly pumping food colouring into the sea caves. Spoiler alert: it's just physics being absolutely brilliant! ✨ The boat trip in is half the fun – you'll feel like you're entering Neptune's secret VIP lounge. Pro tip: bring a waterproof phone case because you'll want to capture this otherworldly glow, but honestly, no camera does justice to seeing it with your own eyes. The water is so crystal clear you can practically count the pebbles on the cave floor below. 📱💙 Sure, it gets busy (because obviously everyone wants a piece of this aquatic paradise), but even with other boats around, the sheer scale and beauty make you forget you're sharing the moment. The boat operators know their stuff – they'll get you the best angles and might even throw in some local legends about the caves. Worth every penny and every minute of travel time. This is the kind of place that makes you believe in magic again! 🚤
Tom D — Google review
Beautiful place to watch the sunset. Arrived too late for the boat tour but you can still come after hours to the viewing point. It’s open 24/7.
Esther W — Google review
Beautiful spot with really clear blue water. The boat ride is nice, but don’t expect too much—it’s small and busy. Still worth a visit if you’re in the area!
Florian S — Google review
Blue Grotto is amazing – if you are coming to Malta, this is a must-visit destination. I recommend taking the boat ride, which costs €10 per person. The best time to visit is between 9 AM and 1 PM because of the light reflection. Amazing :)
Haris H — Google review
The Blue Grotto is one of the most magical places I have ever seen. The water is so clear and shines with bright shades of blue, it feels like a dream. The boat ride takes you through stunning caves where the sunlight makes the sea glow in different colors. The views from the cliffs above are just as amazing – peaceful and full of beauty. A must-visit if you come to Malta!

Um El-Faroud Wreck

4.9
(187)
Um El-Faroud Wreck is a popular landmark in Qrendi, offering a rich diving experience for enthusiasts. The huge wreck provides an opportunity for exploration both inside and outside, with remarkable aquatic life to observe. Divers recommend bringing a torch to navigate the dark interior and caution against currents, especially when surfacing. With depths ranging from 17m to 32m, it's advisable to plan multiple dives to fully appreciate this impressive site.
An impressive wreck that will not leave you indifferent. Unfortunately, it is overcrowded with visitors, like all Maltese wrecks.
Matjaž B — Google review
Good dive spot but very dangerous on the way to the wreck because of tourists boats going to and fro the blue grotto. The boat drivers are situated at the back of all passengers hence they have limited view of the swimmers and divers and zero warning signs. A high chance of severe injury or death. Sewage is at times visible here, don't be surprised if you see floating poop.
Jord S — Google review
Very nice wreck. Big places to dive inside of. Bring a torch.
Tobias V — Google review

William A — Google review
This is a really amazing dive site. It is a huge wreck and you can really get lost swimming through all the rooms. Gutted I didn't have a camera on me, however this meant i could really appreciate the site in the moment. I forgot all the super important details like depth, cost etc. as I went a few years ago. It was totally worth it though
Mr W — Google review
This is such a great wreck, lots to sea on the outside as well as good penetration, superb aquatic life. The wreck is in 2 halves know with the stern being the best. This site is a great dive in the morning but can be difficult in the afternoon with varying currents at different depths..

Xutu Tower, a historic watchtower built by the Knights of St. John to protect the coastline, is a must-visit gem managed by Din L-Art Helwa. Open to the public on specific days and times, it offers a captivating glimpse into Malta's past. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk around the tower and take in beautiful views from the top, including sights of the Blue Grotto.
A short distance walk from Blue Grotto. Amazing, stunning view behind the Xutu Tower. I recommend to feel the place more special and historical, know the ancient history of the tower.
Fatima S — Google review
I have not decided which centuries-old Maltese observation tower I like best, but this is one of them. It’s in such a scenic location.
John Q — Google review
Visited on a Friday just as they were opening. There is no cost to enter although you can leave a donation. The tower guide was a font of knowledge about the towers history and also his young apprentice. You can go onto the roof and the views are amazing. Beware of the low ceiling heights as you access the upper stairs as very low. Worth a visit especially for the views.
Paul B — Google review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Where medieval knights meet million-pound sea views! 🏰 Xutu Tower is proof that our ancestors knew a thing or two about prime real estate location! This beautifully preserved watchtower doesn't just offer history lessons - it serves up some of the most spectacular coastal panoramas you'll find on the island. The views stretch endlessly across that gorgeous Mediterranean blue, making you wonder why anyone ever bothered building towers anywhere else. 🌊 The climb up is manageable (no need for a sherpa!), and once you're at the top, you'll understand why this spot was chosen centuries ago to keep watch for invaders. These days, the only thing you'll be watching for is the perfect photo opportunity! The stonework is impressive too - you can practically feel the craftsmanship that's kept this beauty standing through storms, sieges, and centuries of salty sea air. 📸 Pro tip: Visit during golden hour for absolutely dreamy lighting, but honestly, this place delivers stunning views any time of day. Bring a hat though - there's precious little shade up there, and that Mediterranean sun doesn't mess about! Perfect spot for a romantic moment or some serious contemplation about life's finer things. 🌅
Tom D — Google review
Cute little tower. Definitely stop by when you're in the area. It's free to enter, you can voluntarily give them a donation (even with a card). It has super narrow stairs to get up to the top. Fun!
Rado — Google review
A historical tower, one of many along the coast, affording good views with a minimum of effort. The last sets of stairs are the old originals so they are high and worn down but the handrail keeps it safe and easy. Enjoyed chatting with the lady at the entry, who was quite charming and informative. Entry is by donation. Worth a quick visit. Parking is free in the lot opposite, but the attendant there is cheerful and helpful, so give him a euro or two to help him out.
Phil M — Google review
Beautiful view and interesting history! The tower is free to visit (lives on donations), but have in mind that the tower is mostly open only from 10am to 12pm or whenever the volunteers working there are available.

Wied Babu, located in the middle of Triq Wied iz-Zurrieq, is a picturesque valley that offers a peaceful and relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The hike through this natural wonder takes about half an hour to complete and provides an opportunity to immerse oneself in the wild beauty of nature. The trail features diverse flora, rocky terrain, and culminates in a stunning sea pool at the bottom of the cliffs.
Weid Babu near Blue Grotto is a beautiful hidden gem! The 30-minute walk to this underground treasure is well worth it. The travel itself is an experience, with breathtaking scenery and a bit of a workout. When you arrive, you are treated with an unforgettable underground experience. The cave's natural beauty, mixed with the calm of its surrounds, makes it a must-see. It's an ideal location for anyone wishing to venture beyond the typical tourist attractions. Highly recommended for adventurers and environment enthusiasts!

🌄 “In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.” – John Muir ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An amazing trek that left us refreshed and in awe of nature’s beauty! The trail was moderately challenging, making it enjoyable without being overwhelming. The views were breathtaking – totally worth the climb. A few helpful tips: • Bring enough water to stay hydrated. • Wear full-length pants to avoid scratches from shrubs along the way. • Aim to start early in the morning – it’s peaceful and less crowded, which makes the experience even better. Highly recommended for anyone looking to connect with nature and enjoy a scenic escape!

I would say that it’s not for everyone, especially for people who never done such things before, comfortable shoes are a must! It’s definitely worth it, the final spot is stunning, on the way back is even easier. It took us 20 minutes to go and like 10 to return.
Teoslava Y — Google review
It’s a gorgeous place at the end of the hike The hike gets a bit tedious if you haven’t exercised in a while, make sure to cover your hands and legs, there are quite a few shrubs rubbing against your skin, take a bottle, there’s nothing there . Enjoy
Erica D — Google review
Dense trek with a rewarding beach at the end. The trek is around 15 mins down a dense vegetation path, need to be moderately fit to trek it. When to go: ideally morning before it gets busy. The actual beach has limited seating on the surround rocks so take a thick towel to sit in. What to take if you want to swim too: Definitely closed shoes: I did the trek and subsequent swim with my swimming shoes (the ones with a rubber sole). Very manageable with swimming shoes. - Thick towel for seating - Water (and ftira) - Goggles or snorkel to enjoy the surround rocks
Christian D — Google review
First mistake was to take recommendations from a TikTok which showed scenic spot where you can swim but beforehand advertised as you have to hike a bit… Anyways we weren’t really prepared for it as much as we could, but we managed it in shorts, tshirt and sneakers. First you have to find the ladder which we walked past first time but it’s on the map shown as stairs and is right beside the railing. Then we went right and started to climb but realized that we can’t go further turned around and low and behold there were stairs so we went that way, to get to the swimming spot it took us maybe 35 minutes. The path is narrow with bushes around, some have thorns but I was surprised I didn’t get cut by any, there are lots of rocks and sometimes it’s safer to use hands to climb too, also there were a lot of mosquitoes too. At the end there was the scenic spot which was nice but it was also polluted a lot with trash that I guess got dragged in by the water but the water was clear enough so I decided to swim a bit. On our way there we met few people going back and when we arrived we had the whole space to ourselves. I don’t recommend taking small children on this hike, we saw a family which turned around and it was clear they didn’t expect this hike.

Il-Maqluba is a fascinating geological formation in Qrendi, Malta, dating back to the 1340s. It is a closed depression formed by the dissolution of surface stones or the collapse of underlying caves. The area is now home to a diverse population of native tree communities, including the Bay Laurel and Sandarac Gum Tree. Despite limited access, visitors can enjoy the natural beauty and listen to various bird species in this tranquil setting.
Gorgeous scenic spot of great geological and cultural value!

Such an interesting place to visit. This Huge sink hole in Qrendi appeared around the 1340s. Now whilst you cant really go down too far, you actually respect that and enjoy viewing nature at its best. The variety of different birds you can hear is gorgeous, something that is very hard to find on our hunter infested Island. Go down l and just listen. :)

Historical landmark
Nestled on a clifftop in southern Malta, the Mnajdra Temple is a remarkable megalithic site that dates back over 5,000 years. First excavated in 1840, this ancient complex offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of our ancestors. Located near Hagar Qim and close to the village of Qrendi, Mnajdra showcases impressive architectural alignments that reflect the significance of celestial events to its builders.
Mnajdra is simply breathtaking. Hidden close to the sea, surrounded by the sound of the waves and the open sky, it feels like touching eternity itself. These ancient stones have stood here quietly for over 5,000 years, carrying mysteries that still speak to the heart today. The walk down to Mnajdra from Ħaġar Qim is beautiful and peaceful, and arriving at the temples feels almost like a pilgrimage. Everything is well preserved, the setting is magical, and the views of the Mediterranean Sea behind the temple are unforgettable. Mnajdra is not just a site to visit — it’s an experience to feel. A deep connection to the past, nature, and something greater than ourselves. Thank you, Malta, for guarding such sacred beauty!
Michael B — Google review
Also an amazing temple to be able to take a peak at early humanity. The information found and possibilities are awesome to contemplate. Was a bit of a walk down the ramp and there are hiking paths. We did not hike but stuck to the tour path.
Jared D — Google review
Wonderful visit. We had good luck visiting on a calm day, quite hot but with lots of breeze. Be weary of it's really hot, the walk between two temples is longer than it seems. Museum is quite great, informative, not too long, good audio guide and cool 4d movie. Lovely gift shop with beautiful and affordable gadgets. We've been there with our teenagers and they enjoyed as much as teenagers can enjoy those visits 😅
Agata S — Google review
Very cool spot! There was a museum and then maybe a 10 minute walk to Mnajdra. Everything was very well preserved and there was a lot more too see than I was expecting considering how old it is! We did not buy tickets in advance and had no problem getting them there

Very interesting and well maintained archaeological site, worth visiting if you want to feel and see how much effort people has invested in creating these places. Still stands 4000 years later.... Amazing
Minvydas M — Google review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Time travel without the DeLorean! 🏛️ Blimey, standing amongst these 5,500-year-old temples makes you feel like you've gate-crashed history's most exclusive party! Mnajdra doesn't just casually flex with being older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids - it absolutely shows off about it, and rightfully so. These megalithic masterpieces were already ancient when the Romans were still figuring out how to build proper roads! 🗿 The sheer scale and precision of these limestone giants is mind-boggling. How on earth did our ancestors move these massive stones with such mathematical accuracy? The temple alignments with solstices and equinoxes prove these weren't just random rock arrangements - this was serious astronomical engineering when most of Europe was still working out basic agriculture! 🌅 The setting is absolutely magical too, perched dramatically on Malta's rugged coastline with the Mediterranean stretching endlessly beyond. The information boards are brilliant for putting everything into perspective, and the protective shelters mean you can properly appreciate the intricate carvings and doorways without squinting through weathering damage. Pro tip: Visit early morning or late afternoon for the best lighting and fewer crowds. Wear comfortable shoes - the site involves quite a bit of walking on uneven ancient pathways! Utterly inspiring stuff that puts our daily problems into delightful perspective. 📱
Tom D — Google review
The Mnajdra Temples are an extraordinary archaeological site set on a beautiful coastal hillside overlooking the sea. Smaller but even more intricate than nearby Ħaġar Qim, the temples showcase impressive stonework and perfect alignment with the solstices — a true testament to ancient engineering. The peaceful surroundings and ocean views add a special atmosphere to the visit.
Jacques S — Google review
So vey cool! About 6,000 years old temples - the ticket actually grants entrance to 2 temple complexes and Mnajdra is the furthest downhill- requires a 1km walk on a paved path. I liked this one the most! There are 3 temples in this complex and you can enter and explore them. I liked the way they are all being preserved. Fantastic place to visit!

We had an absolutely amazing dinner experience! The view was simply breathtaking – it felt like the sea was right at your feet, especially with the stunning sunset in the background. Every moment felt special. From the starters to the main courses, each dish was incredibly delicious. The meats were cooked exactly the way we wanted – juicy, flavorful, and perfectly done. It was also my friend’s birthday, and we had ordered a dessert to celebrate. They decorated the plate beautifully with such attention to detail – it truly made the moment even more memorable. The service was outstanding – warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. You could feel that they truly value their guests. Honestly, everything was beyond expectations. I left with a big smile and unforgettable memories. Highly, highly recommended!

Went as a couple and had a great experience! 🫶 Absolutely loved the sea bream (which came with two cooking options), and the octopus was next-level delicious. Not the cheapest spot, but totally reasonable for the quality and portions 👌 Service was lovely, and the background tunes set just the right mood 🎶 And some FYI: The restaurant has three floors (with an elevator), and we sat at the top. We arrived around 6 pm and it was almost empty, though a bigger crowd rolled in later. Some tables were reserved, so we couldn’t sit right at the edge. Even without the full sunset view, the vibe was there 🌅

We had dinner on the rooftop and were greeted with warm, friendly smiles. The terrace offers a breathtaking view – perfect for a relaxing evening. Now, onto the food – and wow, what a treat! • Trio of Lamb (€27.90): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Simply outstanding! Every bite was full of flavor. The only small downside? The sausage could’ve been a bit bigger – but no complaints overall. • Fresh Oysters (€4.50 each): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely amazing – served on a bed of salt, super fresh and flavorful. A definite must-try. • Fritto Misto (€15.50): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A fried mix of calamari, shrimps, octopus, and skate wings – everything was delicious, but the calamari was on another level. Legendary! • Maltese Octopus in Garlic (€24.90): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 👌🏻 Cooked to perfection. Tender, garlicky, full of flavor. • Pan-Seared Calamari (€24.90): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 👌🏻 Also very good – well-cooked and nicely seasoned. To top it off, we shared two bottles of local white wine (sadly forgot the names!), but both were excellent – great quality for the price. Final thoughts: This place made our day even better. The food was amazing, the view was stunning, the staff were genuinely friendly, and even the restrooms were clean and well-kept. Highly recommended – can’t wait to come back! ✌️

Spot On. Went there on the recommendation of my Maltese friend and loved it. First time I've had the rabbit fried in Malta and will have it again. Full House inthe restaurant and the Team managed it quite well. Thank you again for a fantastic meal.

Qrendi Bocci Club is located in this quiet village off the “normal” eatery locations, which can be a positive thing. The team was very well organized and had a full house to handle on the Tuesday night when I was there. The Maltese platter was good but small in size and the fried rabbit was ok, but not memorable. We visited and we ticked the box. Next…..

Center of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the center side of town. Start the day off with Ħaġar Qim Archaeological Site, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Mitħna tax-Xarolla (Xarolla Windmill). All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Historical landmark
Hagar Qim Temple is a pre-historic hilltop temple complex dating back to 3200 BC, featuring ruined apses and a visitor center for exploration. It is one of the best-preserved and most evocative prehistoric sites in Malta, situated atop sea cliffs. The temples are protected by permanent tentlike canopies and there's an informative visitors center with hands-on exhibits and a children's room for interactive learning.
Visited today 27th June. €10 per person (adult) for entry. They only accept card payments, no cash. The museum is small but informative and both sites are amazing to see. The only shade is under the domes that protect both sides. There are a couple of sign posted walks in the surrounding area and you will need a sturdy pair of shoes for these. Highly recommend for a visit 👌.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Making Stonehenge look like yesterday's news since 3600 BC! 🗿 Prepare to have your mind thoroughly blown because Ħaġar Qim doesn't just do ancient - it does ANCIENT with a capital everything! These temples were already over 1,000 years old when the first stones were laid at Stonehenge. Let that sink in whilst you're standing amongst megalithic architecture that makes you question what exactly our ancestors were up to 5,500 years ago! 🤯 The sheer scale and precision of these limestone blocks is absolutely mind-boggling. No cranes, no modern tools, just pure human ingenuity and probably a lot of very strong backs. The intricate carvings and astronomical alignments suggest these weren't just your average Bronze Age builders - these folks were proper clever clogs! The visitor centre does a brilliant job explaining the mysteries without taking away the magic. 🔍 Pro tip: Visit during sunset for absolutely spectacular lighting that makes the honey-coloured limestone glow like something from a fantasy film. The clifftop location offers stunning sea views too, because apparently our ancestors had impeccable taste in both engineering AND real estate! Wear comfortable shoes - the site's larger than you'd expect. 🌅

We got here by bus and did not have to wait to enter. You can buy a number of combined tickets with other archeological sites around Malta. There is a shop with high prices (small water 2€) and souvenirs. The visit starts with an internal part where you can interact with the displays. Then you can visit the sites which are a bit far one from the other and walking on foot under the sun was not the best. Very beautiful and full of history, there is a guide you can get on your phone using a QR code.
F D — Google review
Arrived a few minutes after they opened so I was able to enjoy the peace before the busloads arrived. Spectacular Neolithic structures which beg the question: how on earth did they build that? The second site is a little ways away and the road is under construction so there is a scaffolded narrow downhill pathway out in the open sun. I definitely recommend taking the time to visit this site too as it is dramatically different and also very impressive. The free downloable audio tour was excellent and I recommend it for context. By the time I left a little after 10am, the lot was packed with buses and I suspect the awe and wonder I experienced in the silence would be lessened. Highly recommended none the less.
Phil M — Google review
Not a lot to see. The story of its history is more impressive then the site itself. Price to visit is also not really cheap but you can vist the mini museum and watch a 7 minutes movie in 3D
Iwan B — Google review
Well-presented UNESCO World Heritage/archeological site. Learn about Malta’s very early history. Take time to follow the free audio guide. Please bring your own headphones if possible. There is some walking involved if you see both sites.

This is a must if you have a passion for Archaeological sites. Bring some good foot wear and something to take photos with. I came with a tour guide so there was lots of great information. There is actually two sites both on the same site both are undercover so even if it rains (which it did)…it doesn’t matter.

An amazing experience to be able to visit something so old and take a peak into the history of humanity. The information provided in the museum and during the tour was great. I like how it speculated multiple possibilities for the questions we have. I felt like it make me involved with the site more.

Very interesting historical site, the visitor centre was informative as well. It was absolutely worth the visit. We even did a small hike in the area and the views are stunning. It’s a large open area so can be very hot during the summer months but we went around 5 (it is open until 7 PM) and the temperature was ideal then.

Stunning Temple Complex, very impressive structure. Thousands of years of history. Sadly the walk to Mnajdra Temple was too far and too steep ( coming back up) for someone with mobility issues. But the coastal view was stunning.
Mandy F — Google review
Nice visitor center and very well organized tour with self guided audio guides. Make sure to bring a cover to protect yourself from the sun as it can be VERY hot and there won’t be much shade in between the covered sites. The visitor center is very kids-friendly and features a self taking tour and a 3D movie relating the history of the site, which we really enjoyed.
Anne-Charlotte R — Google review
Nice museum. I was a little underwhelmed but the structure is interesting. I didn't mind paying because most of Malta is inexpensive but it only takes a few minutes to walk through the entire site.

The museum experience is OK, but it's the surrounding area that captivated us the most. It's one of the few serene spots of the island (maybe not so in high season, we were here in the beginning of February), the small heritage path is a must do after going through the ruins!

You are recommended to explore the museum before walking to the sites. Make sure you have proper footwear as the terrain can be difficult for people with limited mobility. The nearest restaurants are about a kilometer away. But don't let it stop you. It's worth checking out.

Constructed on a cliff in 1659, the restored Tal-Ħamrija Coastal Tower boasts breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean. Unlike its paid counterpart, there is a convenient path between the ancient ruins and parking that leads to this intriguing tower. While visitors cannot explore its interior, the exterior remains remarkably well-preserved. It is recommended to combine a visit to this former defensive structure with the nearby Hagar Kim and Mnajdra temples using a signposted footpath.
Great views, spectacular landscape, nice walk through the path from one temple to the other. You should definitely go for it if you have the opportunity. It takes around just 1h.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solid tower, absolutely mental views! 🗼 Tal-Ħamrija Tower is like that reliable mate who doesn't say much but absolutely delivers when it counts! The tower itself is built like a proper fortress - you can practically feel the centuries of Mediterranean storms it's weathered without budging an inch. The stonework is impressively solid, clearly built by people who understood that "good enough" wasn't good enough when facing the elements. 🏰 But honestly, the tower is just the appetiser - the main course is those absolutely jaw-dropping coastal views! The panorama stretches across pristine Mediterranean waters that look like someone's cranked the saturation up to eleven. The surrounding nature is spectacular too, with wild coastal vegetation and dramatic clifftop scenery that makes you want to cancel all your indoor plans forever. 🌊 The combination of rugged coastline, crystal-clear waters, and unspoiled landscape creates one of those "pinch yourself" moments. Perfect spot for contemplating life's bigger questions or just standing there grinning like an idiot at the sheer beauty of it all. Pro tip: Bring a camera with extra battery - you'll be snapping away non-stop! 📸

Scenic spot
Please exercise caution when following the directions to Għar Neffied. If Google directs you to a small gate connected to a minor road near a quarry, that is not the designated parking area. Instead, continue towards the town by the waterfront and take the trail from there. Għar Neffied offers breathtaking scenery for trekking enthusiasts, but it's important to wear long pants due to an abundance of prickly plants in the area.
Careful with the driving directions to here. If Google takes you to small chain gate just off the main road next to a quarry that is not the parking. Go down to the town near the water and take the trail.

The Congreve Memorial in Malta is a tribute to Sir Walter Congreve, who served as the Governor of Malta and was buried at sea between Malta and Filfla Island as per his request. The memorial offers stunning views of the Mediterranean, making it an ideal spot for photography and peaceful contemplation. (Translated by Google) My brief visit to the Congreve Memorial in Malta was an enchanting experience, especially given the opportunity to enjoy the stunning views of the Mediterranean. The memorial is located in an ideal spot to look out over the calm expanse of the sea, making it a perfect backdrop for taking photos. We came across the memorial on our way back from the temples in the Qrendi area. Although our stay was short, the beauty and tranquility of the place left a lasting impression. The memorial is strategically positioned, offering a unique perspective of the sea and the surrounding landscape. Unfortunately, we were unable to gain much insight into the specific history or significance of the Congreve Memorial during our visit. However, its location and serene atmosphere suggest that it is a site of historical and cultural significance to the region. Even without a deep understanding of its history, a visit to the memorial was worthwhile. The location is ideal for those seeking a moment of reflection or wishing to capture picturesque images of Malta’s natural environment. I highly recommend a stop at the Congreve Memorial for anyone visiting the area, whether for historical interest or simply to enjoy one of the many lovely views Malta has to offer. Restaurant
Aalto Restaurant & Bar is a relatively new establishment in Zurrieq, offering a diverse menu of local and Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant prides itself on creating unique and delicious flavors for each dish. Guests have praised the mussels with Maltese sausage as a tasty and distinctive starter, while the rib eye steak is highlighted for its perfect cooking and scrumptious glaze.
WOW! the food was delicious, I tried 7 dishes and they were all amazing! The service was perfect, they seated us last minute when they could have turned us away and the view of the sunset was incredible!! I would highly recommend to anyone. This has been my best dining experience in Malta. I’ll be back before they know it! Highly recommend the arancini starter, the lamb main and the incredible lemon meringue dessert (the best dessert I’ve ever had)
Nicole S — Google review
Had the pleasure to revisit this place, but this time it was not their best night. The menu was very creative, especially with regard to the opening dishes, their terrace has a great view of Filfla and the serving staff were on point most of the time. Untouched was a mix up on the main course which we asked to have served as a whole fish, but instead it came cleaned, which I don’t like because the fish tends to get cold by the time it’s served and it reduces the fun of doing it yourself at your pace with your dining companions. The manager was very gracious and apologetic and even offered dessert and coffees to make up.

We travel a lot and eat at many good places, but sometimes you find a spot that’s truly special and this is one of them. The food here isn’t just good it’s exceptional 🤤 Everything we tried was full of flavor and clearly made with care. One thing I really recommend for the starter is the plate for two, it’s delicious and everything on the plate was homemade. If you’re in Malta don’t miss it. This is one of those places you’ll be glad you found!!!

Overall, the experience at Jack's Eat House was enjoyable and pleasant. The employees were incredible, providing exceptional assistance and displaying friendliness. The bartender kindly explained the origins and preparation process of their traditional dessert. Additionally, they generously offered complimentary shots of their delightful traditional liquor. While the portions may have been slightly large, the food itself was delicious, leaving a desire to return for another visit. The cuisine received high praise with excellent flavors and a diverse menu selection.
Perfect place to eat. Nice and friendly staff, delicious meal and big portions. The place was full and busy, but we did not wait too much. Thanks!

NOT GOOD unfortunately I cannot speak highly of the food I consumed in this restaurant, but let's start from the beginning. Service: the staff is friendly and ready to listen, I was warmly welcomed and seated. I get the least delivered and served drinks in the meantime. Location: the restaurant presents very well, the internal structure is interesting on an architectural level, all in wood and well furnished (simple) but very tidy and clean. Food: the menu has a lot of choice, perhaps even too much, ranging from the local Maltese dish, to the Italian one, to pizza, to meat and fish main courses, to burgers, etc. Since it is my first day in Malta I decide to opt for a plate of spaghetti with seafood and some sparkling water. While waiting I was brought a typical welcome aperitif, bread with tomato, olives and onion. The plate of spaghetti arrives and I immediately notice that the pasta is dry (despite a hint of broth on the bottom of the plate) and totally odorless, strange for fresh fish. Unfortunately, when I tasted it, I realized that it lacked salt and oil, the fish wasn't very good and, alas, the swill I saw tasted like stock cubes and celery. I find myself forced to send the dish back and decide to get a beef burger: this is also a bad choice. The meat is tough and dry, not the classic hamburger seasoned with unidentified spices, but the chips were good. I will definitely not return to this restaurant because of the food served but I can understand that being the only one in the neighborhood it is always popular. Nothing negative to report about the staff and service.

Jack's is one of my favourite places to go eat out, the traditional selection creates a warm environment reminding me of home cooked Maltese meals. The portions are very good and so are the prices. The nice homely traditional decor makes the atmosphere very comfortable and enjoyable. The servers are always nice and very professional. I genuinely recommend that you make it a point to visit and eat here during your stay in Malta and enjoy the beautiful small village of Qrendi. 🧡

We came here to eat before our flight back. The server told us we wouldn't wait long, but in the end, we waited for over an hour. The food is good, but the service needs improvement. They are not well-organized; at the beginning, they were too attentive. We were asked by four different servers if everything was okay, and when we ordered additional drinks, we had to ask three different servers and remind them several times. In the end, we received the wrong order.

The food was fine. Nothing spectacular. I got to try the braised horse meat which was a nice experience and tasted good however we also had the calamari which were chewy and the bruschetta that would make Italians turn around.

Delicious traditional Maltese food, abundant portions, a good waiting time in between the starters and the main- not rushed at all. The food was excellent and so was the service- the young girl serving really knew what she was doing. Will definitely visit again :)

Overall it was a pleasant and nice experience. The staff were amazing and super helpful and friendly. The bartender was kind enough to explain the origin of their traditional desert and how it is made. After that we got some of their traditional liquor shots on the house and it was incredibly tasty. The portions are a bit big but that may be for me only, nonetheless the food was very delicious, would definitely go there again.

A HIDDEN GEM! Lately I heard great feedback about this place and coincidentally it happened that we organised a night out to this place between colleagues. It turned out to be much better then expected. From the outside the facade doesn't seem much and you would almost expect a bit of a tired place. However once you step into the restaurant, the first thing that hits you is the beautiful decor & lovely ambiance of this place. It is also not small at all, something which was also unexpected. The service was professional & friendly, whilst the food was delicious - well presented, tasty, and for the heavy eaters it is also abundant. Since we were a large group, we left it in the hands of the staff to select a few dishes for us as a starter, and we were so pleased that we opted to do the same for the rest of the meal. Several traditional Maltese dishes started arriving to the table (such as maltese platter, snail stew, Maltese bread with kunserva etc), along with a few modern twists including the fried Ġbejna which was to die for. Our mains included dishes such as fried rabbit, BBQ ribs, horse meat (which is one of the best I ever tasted). Accompanied by chips, roasted potatoes & vegetables. For dessert we had Imqaret (super delicious & with a good amount of filling), Maltese Ice cream, Ħelwa tat-Tork & Kannoli. Coffee & liqueur followed after. The meal included alcoholic beverages, water & soft drinks. All of this for about 48 euros per head - WELL DONE & KEEP IT UP!

Ta’ Qali National Park is more than just a park – it’s a vibrant, multi-use space that blends nature, culture, and community in one beautiful setting. Whether you’re visiting for a picnic, an art experience, or a music festival, you’ll find something for everyone. Right next to the park is the Crafts Village, where you can watch local artisans at work and buy handmade Maltese products like glassware, pottery, lace, and jewelry. It’s a unique cultural experience and a great place to find authentic souvenirs. 👍 Highly recommended for families, couples, pet owners, and travelers who want a taste of local culture in a green, relaxing environment.

Came here for a solo day out and it is beautiful! Although there’s not much to do around it so if you come bring a packed lunch and some entertainment. Someone recommended a stay of a couple of hours and I would say thats the max if you’re coming on your own, although if you’re coming with the family it would be a lovely chilled day out.

Incredibly well-groomed, large and beautiful park. We visited in the evening, everything was very clean and the area was beautiful. A large number of incredibly beautiful trees and flowers. The lighting and lighting in general were impressive. I advise you to visit. But the toilets are some kind of horror, they really spoil the impression, there are no locks, everything is very broken, dilapidated and dirty.

This well cared Park @ Ta Qali is an awesome place where one can Take relaxed or brisk walks among trees, shrubs, Herbs And flowers in early morning or evening. Superb Views of sunrise make your Walk a beautiful experience that you want to revisit.

When someone says national park, I would imagine something totally different, its a nice place, but its packed with people, especially children. As a visitor, I wouldnt recommend going there. If I were a local with children, it would be probably the best place.

✅ A beautiful and peaceful place, perfect for relaxing and walking. Ta’ Qali Park pleasantly surprised me with its size, well-maintained lawns, and abundance of greenery. It’s a great spot for families with children, picnics, jogging, or just sitting in the shade of the trees. There’s plenty of parking nearby, and the Malta National Stadium and Crafts Village are within walking distance, so you can easily make a day of it. I recommend visiting early in the morning or in the evening — it’s wonderfully calm. 🌳 Highly recommended for anyone looking to escape the city buzz while in Malta.

Fort St. Angelo is a restored medieval fort located on a peninsula, offering picturesque harbor views and historical displays. Originally constructed as a medieval castle, it was later strengthened by the Knights of Saint John in the 16th century to serve as their residence and headquarters during significant events in Malta's history. The fort played a crucial role in protecting the island and offers multimedia exhibitions that bring its exciting history alive.
Just amazing. Definitely worth every Euro to enter. The history of the fortress is very interesting and I really liked the films that briefly explain the whole history. I recommend not to miss them. However, the amazing views from the fortress are the highlight. You can see the harbours of the Tri-Cities and Valletta. I recommend setting aside at least an hour, more likely two, for the tour. It can be done quickly, but it would be a shame. It is excellent to go to the fortress before sunset. The view of the harbours is amazing! I recommend buying a combo ticket and then go to the harbor museum and the Inquisitor's Palace. These are great for +6 Euro.

Really enjoyed visiting Fort St Angelo in the 3 Cities area. Coming from Australia you just don’t see this sort of thing. It’s historical significance is amazing and Malta should be proud of what they have done at this site. If you take your time and watch the media displays you will learn so much. Great views of Valletta and surrounding 3 Cities. Always a display of super yachts parked out front adds to the atmosphere.
Stu B — Google review
My first fortress ever, and I’m really impressed. I especially enjoyed the residential part of the fort. It’s also a great spot to watch the cannon salutes in Valletta, and overall the fort offers stunning views of the sea and the city.

Fort St. Angelo is absolutely breathtaking and a must-see when visiting Birgu! The location itself is incredible, with panoramic views over the Grand Harbour and Valletta. The fort is steeped in history, from the time of the Knights of St. John to its role in World War II, and it’s very well presented with detailed exhibits and restored areas to explore. Walking through the bastions feels like stepping back in time, and the sense of scale is amazing. It’s peaceful, atmospheric, and a perfect place to take in Malta’s heritage. Highly recommended for both history lovers and anyone who enjoys stunning views.

Fort St. Angelo is one of many amazing buildings built by the Knights of the order of St. John. It is massive and it takes around 2 hours to roam and envelop all the wonderous nooks and crannies of this place. The views are amazing and take time to sit and watch the video productions especially the one in the middle room featuring the great siege of Malta.

Fort St. Angelo in Malta is an incredible historical site that offers a deep dive into the island’s rich past. The fort is beautifully preserved, with informative exhibits that bring centuries of history to life. The panoramic views of the Grand Harbour from the top are absolutely breathtaking. Overall, it’s a must-visit location with a powerful atmosphere and great historical significance.

Extremely interesting place to visit. Full of information via a variety of sources. Quiet at the time of our visit and we'll worth it. Easy to get to if you get a water taxi from Valetta harbour (same place as the Gozo High Speed Ferry). Gives amazing views of the harbour and surrounding areas.

Grotto Tavern is one of the top restaurants in Rabat, Malta. It has been recognized for its exceptional dining experience and is a must-visit for food enthusiasts. The restaurant offers a diverse menu with delicious dishes that cater to various tastes. With its charming ambiance and excellent service, Grotto Tavern provides an unforgettable culinary journey for visitors. Whether you're looking for a casual meal or a special dining experience, this restaurant promises to deliver an enjoyable time for all guests.
We had a wonderful dinner at Grotto Tavern. The highlights were the excellent service, the impressive setting in a natural cave, and the short walk after dinner through a 10-meter-long hand-carved tunnel, originally created during World War II as a bomb shelter. A big thank you to our amazing team: Michael, Greg, and Maxwell. Greg’s relaxed yet insightful way of explaining and presenting, combined with Michael’s excellent wine pairings, made for a truly memorable evening.

First time to a "fine" dining place and especially a Michelin restaurant. Food was tasty but nothing really over the top in my opinion. To place bread with butter as one course was pretty hillarious, never experienced that before. The staff was incredible and very supportive of my companion Rex who never been to a fine dining restaurant either. He enjoyed his visit.
Clabbe B — Google review
We had a wonderful dinner at the Grotto Tavern. Complements to the chef for creating a memorable five course meal. The restaurant is set in the cave which enhanced the experience. Michelin star awarded in 2024 is a guarantee that you will enjoy every bite.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Grotto Tavern experience. It had been recommended by a few different people and were so glad we went! The service, food and location are all excellent. Highly recommend. We went for the 7 course taster menu and tried a local red wine. Fantastic!

We had the grotto experience with the wine pairings and everything was perfect! We are foodies and love interesting combos but nothing too out there and this was the perfect mix! It is also five courses but nothing outrageous, and absolutely a perfect amount of food. The service is outstanding and the atmosphere is incredible, perfect for a special moment like an engagement, anniversary or just a splurge! I would 100% recommend and would absolutely go back!

Incredible food, impeccable service from Jessica and Michael, and a stunning atmosphere — Grotto Tavern delivered on every front. We celebrated my 50th birthday here and I couldn't have been happier. One of the best meals I've ever had out, made even better by how reasonable the prices were. A must-visit if you’re in Malta and want an experience that feels truly special.

My friend and I visited this restaurant in September when we were visiting Malta on our holiday. We had the best experience ever, eating food that I didn’t think was possible! Michael, Max and Masie, the three musketeers, were the sweetest people we have ever met in a restaurant. They were so polite and patient with us as we were tourists. They made the already delicious dinner even more special with their kind service. I really hope that the restaurant owner appreciates the effort they put into making others’ experience very special and authentic! If you’re planning to visit this restaurant, I can assure you that you will not regret it.
Kirn G — Google review
The food was absolutely outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of rich, balanced flavors. You can tell that the chefs take real pride in using fresh, local ingredients and adding a creative twist to traditional Mediterranean cuisine. The tasting menu, in particular, was a highlight — each course felt like a journey through Malta’s culinary heritage. The service was impeccable as well. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do, taking the time to explain each dish and recommend the perfect wine pairings.(I have to mansion our waiter Greg!) Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply looking to enjoy a memorable evening out, Grotto Tavern is a must-visit. It’s a perfect blend of fine dining, history, and Maltese charm — an experience that stays with you long after you leave.

The restaurant TownhouseNo3 is a modern take on Mediterranean and Maltese flavors, with dishes such as rabbit ravioli with a thyme jus, or gnocchi with grilled squid and chilli. The service is top-notch, and the chef patron comes to meet guests personally. Every item at the restaurant was well presented, and portions were more than ample.
I can confidently say this restaurant surpassed our experience in every way. The food here was absolutely delicious. Also the service, it was outstanding. The staff were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful meal. Here attention to detail and genuine warmth exceeded that of many high-end, highly ranked restaurants we’ve visited. I would recommend this restaurant in a heartbeat. If you're looking for quality, this is the place to go.

Amazing Dinner at Townhouse No. 3 We went out for a casual dinner and the restaurant we planned to visit was closed, so we ended up at Townhouse No. 3 next door and what a great surprise it turned out to be! Service was excellent – just one waitress looking after everyone, but she was friendly and professional. The food was amazing, we shared pasta with braised octopus and beef carpaccio with porcini mushrooms as a starter, then had the Chateaubriand for main, perfect size for two. Cooked perfectly, served with proper homemade fries, grilled veg and two complimentary sauces. Everything was spot on, definitely one of the best meals we’ve had in Malta. Highly recommended!

Mediterranean restaurant
Restaurant
Terrone, located in Birgu, Malta, offers a unique dining experience with a focus on seasonal, sustainable, and local ingredients. The menu is adjusted daily to ensure freshness and variety. Guests can enjoy the chic interior adorned with colorful tiles or dine outside with views of fishing boats. The restaurant offers dishes like tuna tartare, kingfish carpaccio, chargrilled octopus, and a six-course seafood degustation menu.
We had an amazing lunch here - the seafood dishes are to die for! The menu refreshes daily to incorporate the catch of the day and the service is exceptional. The views are nice too! Desserts were also outstanding.
Aliz P — Google review
We had a fantastic experience at Terrone and ate some highly memorable dishes that left me feeling content and inspired. We opted for the tasting menu aptly named ‘Mare’ which had some truly exceptional dishes. The stars of the show were the octopus and the risotto which really stood out and despite being incredibly full I still devoured my dessert as it was truly special. The trigger fish was very flavourful however it was slightly on the dryer side. When the fish was paired with the sauce it came with the dryness was a non issue for me as I am quite tolerable to salty food however my partner was struggling to eat it due to the sauce’s high salt content. The atmosphere was wonderful, the restaurant is beautifully secluded with a sea front view that opens into a magnificent harbour. The service unfortunately could have done with some improvements, at this price tag I typically would expect the servers to be replenishing our water and wine glasses but I did find myself delving into the ice bucket on all but one occasion to serve my partner and I extra wine. Additionally when consuming a tasting menu which is typically 6+ dishes, I appreciate the servers providing a description of each dish as it is being served however this had to be requested at each dish and it did seem at times like the servers didn’t know the menu nor what they were serving (to be fair I imagine this is challenging given the menu changes everyday). The server did spill oil across the table when clearing the plates and despite pointing it out didn’t come and clean it without us having to ask her to do so. We did also order some sides to be served with our main however it seemed these were forgotten about as they seemed rushed to prepare them after we had mentioned they appeared missing and only arrived half way through our mains. I would recommend people to go to Terrone despite the mixed service we received and would gladly return again when I am next in Malta. With some slight adjustments I believe Terrone could improve on its already great reputation given its Bib Gourmand.

Such a cool little hidden spot — totally worth checking out. The food was amazing! The octopus was out of this world, and the Castellucio lentils, samphire that came with the fresh local fish was a dream. Super friendly, first-class service. If you want to play it safe, make a reservation — this place gets busy for a reason.

My brother & I stayed in Birgu for 5 weeks. Wanted to try this place from day 1. We booked it for our last night. What a fabulous night to end this trip. Tucked away in a small inlet, its amazing little restaurant really makes you feel relaxed welcome and well looked after!
