A wonderful gem in this region! Despite arriving just 10 minutes before closing, the owner warmly welcomed us and even took the time to give us a tour. The wines are exceptional, and knowing that it’s a family-run operation adds a special touch to the experience. We were thrilled to purchase six bottles of outstanding wine for under 50 euros—truly an incredible value. Highly recommended!

Bodegas Remirez de Ganuza is definitely worth visiting! Winery is located only 30 minutes' drive from Logrono and is producing fully bodied red wines aged on French oak. Winery
Nestled in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, Bodegas J.F. Iradier opened its doors to wine tourism in 2024, marking a new chapter for this family deeply rooted in viticulture. With 22 hectares of their own vineyards, they embarked on a dream to bottle their wines under the Sayon label, reflecting generations of dedication and passion. Visitors can expect an intimate experience as the winery is run by family members who share captivating stories about their winemaking journey.
(Translated by Google) The visit to this family winery has been very pleasant. The couple, Teresa and Juan Francisco, have explained to us in a simple and very educational way the history of their winery, its family origins and its history up to the present day. They remain faithful to the tradition of making wine with the carbonic maceration method. However, they complement this with a modern and current facility with which, among others, they produce signature wine. Finally, the tasting was well accompanied by generous snacks in a very familiar atmosphere.

(Translated by Google) A family-run winery. Teresa welcomes us with warmth and experience, making us feel part of a centuries-old agricultural history that teaches us how to make good wine. From the corridors in the underground caves to the winemaking laboratory, you can sense this winery's determination to preserve the methods of its ancestors in a modern setting. The transition from old to new, in the same space, is an added bonus. Their three wines are worth trying; the tasting is generous and, for us, unforgettable. Don't miss this bodega! (Original) Cantina a conduzione familiare.

(Translated by Google) We took the guided tour of the winery and were fascinated. The experience begins in the old winery, where we were able to see how wine was made in the past and fully understand every part of the process. We found the open lake and dam area incredible, but the most impressive part was going down into the underground part: we were left speechless. It's amazing how wine was produced traditionally and how all the galleries are still preserved. Very interesting and explained in a friendly and charming way. Afterwards, we discovered the new part of the winery and had the opportunity to taste three of J.F. Irradier's wines… exquisite! 🍷 So much so, that we couldn't resist taking several bottles home. The tasting was accompanied by a delicious cheese and cured meats board that rounded out the experience. We also brought our dog, and the winery is pet-friendly, which we loved and added even more to the experience. 🐾 A winery tour is absolutely recommended: tradition, passion, and that family warmth that is always present. Thank you for making us feel at home and showing us your winery. 👉 Tip: It's best to book your tour directly through WhatsApp rather than through other platforms. Irradier… ¡exquisitos!

The winery tour provides insight into the wine-making process and includes tastings straight from the machines.
A wonderful tasting! Thank you for the guided tasting with appetizers! One note is that we visited two wineries. The tour and wines were of similar quality, but we found these wines priced quite a bit more - not expensive but not a tremendous value.

Incredible winery in the most beautiful location. We were staying close by in an air B&B and the host Axier booked this experience for us. Both the tour and wine tasting with tapas were amazing and informative. Ostatu was one of the highlights of our Rioja tour. Our guide was very friendly and interesting. We were lucky enough to be there on picking day to see truckloads of grapes coming into the winery for processing. We had a very interesting tour through the whole winery where wine is processed, stored and bottled. We were even given a sample of some of the wine being processed to taste right out of one of the machines. Such an experience. The wine tasting at the end was fantastic. All of the wines were fabulous and they made it very easy for us to purchase wine and ship it home too. They even offered us a plate of iberico ham to eat with our final glass. We could not recommend this wine, winery or tour highly enough!

Came in during opening hours. Only one person in the office and they acted like it was a bother to have us there. We left and went to another place

Took the time to reach out to the winery and request a tour. Highly suggest you take that route as well. Trying to piece together touring yourself, partnered by, for us, difference in cultural norms, takes work. The extra consideration you provide by proper planning, goes a long way I feel. Aside from all of that, our guide was very passionate about the work they do at Ostatu, as well as knowledgeable. It was warm and inviting. Provided an experience we were looking for that portrayed a small production, quality family vineyard. If you have to sacrifice due to time, agenda, etc. I do not suggest you leave this off the list. Cheers!

A Perfect Stay in Wine Country! We had an incredible stay at Palacio de Samaniego — everything from start to finish was top-tier. The rooms are spacious, beautifully designed, and exceptionally comfortable, blending charm with modern luxury. The service was outstanding, with special thanks to Max, who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable and seamless. Mornings began perfectly with their delicious breakfast, and the availability of free e-bikes was a huge bonus. It made exploring the nearby trails and stunning countryside so easy and enjoyable. The restaurant is superb and made for an excellent diner on our first night in town. The location is ideal for anyone looking to relax in the private outdoor pool or explore the region’s wine and natural beauty. We can’t wait to return!

Beautiful place, incredible attention to detail, great breakfast and service always with a smile. We enjoyed the experience. Just wish we slept better as the room was too hot even with the AC, and the sheets were too crispy (personal choice). Dinner was the most disappointing part after the incredible meals we had all over Basque Country. We enjoyed the stay, but…. I’m not sure how much control the hotel has over this, but children playing under a large Palestinian flag waving off a poll right next to the hotel wasn’t a nice welcome. For some it’s solidarity, for others, like pro peace Jews it can be a disturbing site. Wonder what will these children learn about us once they start asking questions.

Enjoyed a very comfortable stay at this wonderful hotel in the heart of La Rioja. First, the staff are professional in every way. Everyone from the front desk, to the dining room, to the support people does a proper job, always with a cheerful smile. The people here make you feel welcome in every way. The suite is modern with every convenience including excellent lighting, a cloud-like bed, and plenty of places to keep your things while visiting. Location is convenient to all of La Rioja. Parking is across the street. Breakfast made to order with all the favorites. I look forward to staying here again, hopefully for many days!

If I could give the rooms a higher rating I would! One of the best rooms I’ve ever stayed in. They are beautiful, clean, spacious and fantastically laid out. The food and wine offering was superb. Day 2

Center of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the center side of town. Start the day off with Bodegas Baigorri, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Bodegas Amaren. All together, your day would be filled with about 2 hours of non-stop fun.

Designed by architect Inaki Azpiazu, this glass-fronted building provides an unforgettable dining experience six floors underground, where diners can admire both the local landscape and sleeping barrels.
Awesome tour, food, and wines. Got the premium wines with tour/meal and 100% recommend. Great quality and experience. Beautiful location and really enjoyed it.

⸻ Expectations were high since my parents visited this place about 15 years ago. Apparently, everything has changed. This was anything but good. We started off in a sauna (the entrance), spending 30 minutes in front of a roll-up banner. The guide knew their stuff, but the heat and the noise from all the other groups in this commercial setting were unbearable. Our group had about 15 people, but others had up to 50. We had booked the premium package, which included a guided tour, wine tasting, and a six-course meal. After about 1 hour and 20 minutes, the tour was over. We were taken to a large, fully packed tiled dining hall with a terrible noise level and crowded with people. Wine was poured without any presentation. Then came the food… This is among the worst meals I’ve ever had. (Some parts were inedible.) Overcooked ravioli with a sweet sauce. Everything leaned towards being sweet—even the seafood salad, which I couldn’t finish. When the tuna arrived, my daughter started crying. It was unbalanced and overcooked. I took one bite and couldn’t eat more. Inedible. The dessert was cold milk with chopped pears poached in wine. I felt almost sick after the meal. This place has become impersonal, commercialized, and extremely overpriced. I cannot recommend it.

Beautiful view of the vineyards. I love the all glass building overlooking the valley. I didn’t do the tour but did some tasting at the bar. Reasonable price for the tasting bar. I tried a glass of Garnacha and bought home a bottle. Friendly staff!

We did the tour of the winery and the lunch tasting menu back in May and I’m still getting goosebumps just thinking about it — everything about this experience was perfect! Our tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable, the winery is absolutely stunning and the food was awesome! I was very impressed how fast they were able to accommodate us for he tour and highly appreciated everything hey did for us. The vineyard and architecture is nothing short of STUNNING! If your an art and wine lover this is a MUST visit for you! I recommend a food pairing as well to enjoy the wines even more! Incredible! 🙌🏼😍

Amazing. I did the visit of the Bodega (winery) plus the lunch tasting menu. The Bodega itself is worth the visit, completely built/hidden/integrated within a hill. The view of the valley and the vineyards is breathtaking (especially with the fall colours!!). The lunch menu, very good, plenty of dishes (even too much food!) coupled with different wines. A must do.

We chose this visit to see an ultra modern wine production. They assume the fact that they are modern and still manage to make very good wines. The architecture is spectacular. After our visit we enjoyed an gastronomical late lunch enjoyed the view.

Bodegas Amaren is a highly regarded winery in La Rioja, known for its expertly crafted wines that beautifully showcase the unique characteristics of the grapes and the region's terroir. The winery offers an exceptional wine tour experience, providing visitors with a wealth of information about their wines and culminating in a delightful tasting session featuring two exquisite vintages. The facility itself is impressive, boasting top-notch cleanliness and an attentive and friendly staff.
One of best wineries in Rioja. Unique history using old grapes and new technology. Informative tour with delicious snacks, our guide Yara was awesome! Ordered 6 bottles to New York, everything arrived on time and intact. Super tasty wine.

Bodegas Amaren offers a stunning setting and an unforgettable wine tasting experience. The wines were exceptional, each with unique character and depth. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and made the visit both informative and relaxed. A must for anyone visiting Rioja.

This was our absolute favorite winery of our visit to many and we had the best tour of this amazing family winery with Natalia! Every wine we tasted was delicious - traditional exceptional quality wines. We ended up buying a bit of wine here and we cannot wait to get it back in the US! Natalia was wonderful and we were able to see a full production in this beautiful winery, up-close and personal. We are already talking of a next visit and Amaren played a huge part in our love for this wine region of Spain.

Incredibly cool place, especially the research they are doing on climate change's effects on winemaking. Natalia gave us a great tour and the wine is fantastic.

The best wine tour in Rioja in my opinion. Great wine and informative tour finishing with a great tasting with two fine wines

We visited with Thabuca Wine Tours. Amaren has a very impressive facility. One surprise was the number of different vessels used to ferment and age the wines. We were also impressed that they were working to develop older and obscure grape varieties they have found on their plots. Amaren produces a wide range of wines. Each wine we tasted had a fine balance between tannins and fruit, and all are quite drinkable now. Amaren winery was a highlight of our tour.

Wow! The wine here is amazing! This winery seems creative yet traditional, making relevant wines using a balance of respect for tradition with current processes. A must visit if you're in Rioja.

My favorite winery in La Rioja. Each wine is carefully crafted and is an excellent representation of the varietal and the terroir.

Nestled within the unique glass-fronted Finca de los Arandinos, Restaurante Tierra y Vino is a culinary gem that celebrates the essence of local flavors. With breathtaking views of the vineyards at the base of the Moncalvillo Mountains, this restaurant offers an exquisite tasting menu featuring standout dishes like white asparagus with paprika emulsion and beef sirloin paired with truffled potato parmentier.
One of the best restaurants I’ve ever eat in, superb food, excellent service and great atmosphere. Highly recommend!

We came here on a Tuesday night based on Google maps recommendation. We were lucky to be the only patrons this night and got great service from the staff. Creative cuisine tasted great. Coupled with a wonderful bottle of red La Isla from nearby Vivanco winery in Briones. Most memorable dining experience.

Updating to 3 after speaking to my wife. She liked the bean dish, and thought 3 is more deserving. We are food enthusiasts from NYC. Not sure if this was an off night, poor new menu, or an emperor new clothes situation, but this was the worst meal we had after spending a week in Basque Country. We enjoyed the wine, service, and a few dishes but for the most part flavors just didn’t pop. Tomato dish was just strange. Cooked, flavorless tomatoes and the entire dish was just bland. Fish carpaccio looked pretty but again, almost no flavor. Same for the fish dishes like turbot, and monkfish. Just boring. The egg, mushrooms and truffle dish was good even tho needed some salt, but that you can find in many asadors. The meat dishes, beef cheeks and duck were the best of the bunch.

We had a wonderful time at this cozy and super elegant gem of a restaurant. The food and wine were delicious and interesting and the best part was the service. The host the sommelier Miren was a great help to choose our food and wine and she was chatting with everyone and making sure we were all enjoying our time. All in all a memorable dinner 💕

Incredible tasting menu. Incredible value. I’ve been to many Michelin starred restaurants and this one is better than most!!! Highly highly recommend. The service and food are borderline Perfect. Worth the drive from Bilbao (or wherever you’re coming from).

Hands down one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve had not only in Spain but all of Europe. I wouldn’t be surprised if they receive a Michelin star one day. Our family got the set menu which was reasonably priced for the value / experience / quality. The food was outstanding, creative, and thoughtful. You cannot get these dishes anywhere else because they are so unique and incredibly delicious! The duck ravioli, the rabbit, and the lamb were my favorite. Every. Single. Dish. Was exceptional. There is a huge attention to detail. The service was equally outstanding, with every member of the team being incredibly attentive. The sommelier gave us perfect wine and champagne recommendations for what we were looking for. The waiter was accommodating and checking in on us appropriately (not too much but not too little) and everything down to the bread and water was always filled. The restaurant itself is beautiful designed, creating an organic and stylish atmosphere perfect for the surrounding area. Absolutely nothing can be said for how wonderful of a meal, and experience, we had. Thank you to the whole team!

This restaurant has the makings of a Michelin-star restaurant, and in fact, even better than a lot of them! Eur78 for a sumptuous meal + Eur28 wine pairing. You can’t get any better than this around. Dishes may look tiny but they are substantial to the point I can’t even finish them. I will recommend this place to any foodie!
