Shanklin Chine is a picturesque coastal ravine that has been a popular destination for over two centuries. This 400-meter-long gorge features lush vegetation, waterfalls, and pathways carved into the cliffs for stunning views. Visitors can explore the chine's natural and human history at the heritage center. Notable figures like Jane Austen and John Keats were said to be fans of this tree-lined gorge.
Beautiful little chine with amazing foliage, lovely cafe/restaurant and world class view.. multi-level attraction for the whole family. Resting area, toilets and food available all included in the price of the ticket (you do have to buy the food though,,😊). Highly recommend for a visit.

Lovely little experience. Great walk and lovely scenery. A bit pricey to get in but you can go in multiple times throughout a 7 day period so actually really worth it.
Marie B — Google review
Shanklin Chine is a really beautiful and peaceful place to explore – the gardens, waterfalls, and lighting in the evening make it feel magical. It’s a lovely walk and there’s a real sense of history too, with some interesting information boards along the way. Perfect for a gentle stroll and to take in some nature away from the busier parts of Shanklin. That being said, it did feel a little pricey for what it is – the walk doesn’t take very long unless you really take your time. Still, it’s worth visiting at least once, especially if you’ve not been before, as it’s such a unique and picturesque spot.
SPARKELS7797 — Google review
This was a much nicer way of getting back to the top of the high street! A fun walkway with quirky footpaths to follow and as I went during Halloween there were dinosaurs and skeletons all around. Apparently at night the street lights go on so it’ll be more spooky but fun. It can be difficult to climb certain bits, the steps at the very top are hard but good railings and a bench half way helped! Lovely waterfall at the top too. You can get a 7 day pass for returning during that time. Nice gift shop.

Excellent location & super value for money. Great gift shop with friendly & helpful staff. Nice coffee shop too. Beautiful waterfall & nature, a must visit with free parking available.

Great little gem, kids loved it. Dog friendly and was great that we can return unlimited times for upto 7 days on your original purchase ticket. We amended the Halloween event and loved it.

Enjoyed the experience and outdoor lighting ambience. Great place to spend in about 40 minutes for horror and vibrant walk at Shanklin Chine. They also offer tickets which is valid for 7 days and multiple returns.

Very beautiful Shine tucked along the sea. Beautiful vegetation. My son loved the dinosaur replicas along the path. The walk along the entire path of the Shine is very peaceful .

Zoo

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Amazon World Zoo is the largest exotic animal attraction on the Isle of Wight, featuring over 200 species including tropical birds, meerkats, penguins, flamingos, otters, and monkeys. Visitors can experience jungle rainforests with a variety of exotic birds, crocodiles, and penguins while learning about conservation efforts to protect their natural habitats.
Amazon World Zoo on the Isle of Wight is an absolute must! We had such a fantastic day filled with incredible animal encounters. My nephew was completely captivated by the capybaras, also asking loads of questions about new two red panda kits, can't wait to see them appearing sion. It was heartwarming to see the dedication of the staff, chatting and explaining all funny & discussing habits of some of the animals. The park is clearly a labor of love. The animal enclosures are immaculately maintained, and all the animals look so happy and well-cared for. It's a testament to the hard work of the staff and the owners, and it's wonderful to see how the park has evolved over the years, thanks in no small part to the support of the local community. The indoor soft play area was a massive bonus. It gave the kids a perfect spot to burn off some energy in a safe environment. We had such a lovely family day out and will 100% be returning. Thank you, Amazon World, for a truly memorable experience!
Jon # — Google review
Amazon World Zoo was a nice visit overall. There’s plenty of parking and the entry fee is really reasonable. The site itself is clean and well kept, and we enjoyed seeing a good variety of animals — the red pandas were definitely a highlight! There are cafes on site too, which is handy and we found the prices to be fair. That said, the zoo is quite small and you can see everything within about an hour - however we were two adults visiting without children. There was a soft play and outdoor area for kids, so could definitely spend longer if with little ones. Some of the handmade signs give it a bit of a rough-around-the-edges feel, and there aren’t many sheltered spots if the weather turns. Still, it makes for a pleasant little trip, especially if you’re in the area.
Danielle S — Google review
Surprisingly bigger than it seems from the outside. Off season, so café closed in the main area, but the Flamingo café open. Good range of food options hot or cold. Very good quality food and really reasonably priced. We have visited before, but not for a few years so it's improving all the time. Amazing staff, very helpful and informative. The lovely lady in the tropical house gave a talk about the, Sloths, Tamandua and Goeldi monkeys. It was really interesting even though it was interrupted by Icicle the blue macaw, he wanted all the attention! 2 good walks around and you should get to see the animal exhibits. Don't rush, they are animals and they do what they want, go back and and you'll get to see them. The indoor area is amazing, the animals in the twilight zone are so cute. Go through slowly and you will see them all. Worth visiting, great 3 - 4 hours and worth the cost.
Steve W — Google review
A relatively small but packed zoo. Well laid out with lots to see. Highlights for me was the night enclosures and the Amazon section. Unfortunately we missed out of the animal talks/feeding but would have been a lovely addition. Lots of areas are wheelchair friendly. A little confused over the Cafe next to the toilets that was shut during peak season. Not sure if it has been moved to soft play area that we didn't visit. Great family experience with free parking.
Russell C — Google review
Great place. Loads to see and do. A 7 day return pass, so visit again over 7 days. Reduced rates for Island residents with proof of address. Interactions with animals and talks. Soft play also included in the ticket price. Granddaughter loved it.
Wendylady C — Google review
First time seeing a racoon! Loved it. Kids loved it, wasn't very big but was really fun and animals all look happy. Loved the walk through area and nocturnal area. Definitely recommend going especially with a 7 day return on tickets
Kirsty A — Google review
Visited today and we were not disappointed. Enjoyed the talks from the keepers. Felt very privileged to get a glimpse of the Red panda cubs ❤️😍. Only disappointment was the cafe. We should have gone to the Fighting Cocks over the road.
Mark R — Google review
Plenty of animals in the zoo despite it's very small size. Made it round most of the enclosures in just over an hour. Plus hanging around while waiting for various talks, eg feeding the red pandas. On the whole a nice few hours out. There could be some improvements. Although most of the staff were welcoming, some were a bit cynical, especially at the monkey madness play area, entry was time restricted (despite 2 hours being more than enough, given nobody is going to spend £70 on a family ticket to spend 2 hours in soft play). Re entry requires staff buzzing the gate open to control visitors and obviously this stopped their other duties. Unless you read the small print on the admission, you're automatically charged £2 extra per ticket for a "voluntary donation". In a smaller font, are prices without this donation. You are only charged the cheaper price if you explicitly ask for no voluntary donation. At least that was the basis we cAme to understand given our tickets were sold at the higher rate. Overall it's a good day out but there isn't enough to do. Once you've been round in an hour, you find yourself trying to pass the time between hourly talks/feeding. Signage wasn't particularly clear, took quite a bit of looking before finally finding the flamingos hidden behind a door between an outdoor picnic area and the cafe. 3/5. Very nice animals. No reason to book in advance. The zoo was practically empty at 10am, with no queue. Customers picked up later into the morning. The monkey madness offers parties and there are multiple toilets on site. Food wasn't particularly quick out of the kitchen, wait was around 15-20 minutes for a cheeseburger and chips although she was working on other orders too.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Located in the charming village of Godshill, the Model Village Godshill is a popular attraction featuring immaculately kept miniature buildings and landscapes. Visitors can enjoy strolling through this meticulously crafted village, which exudes a sense of pride and joy. The site also offers an opportunity to watch handmade chocolates being made before indulging in some sweet treats at the chocolate shop. Additionally, visitors can explore independent shops such as Style Interiors and The Old Smithy for unique and reasonably priced gifts.
Godshill Model Village is such a charming little gem – honestly, it feels like stepping into a fairy utopia! ✨ The attention to detail is incredible, with every tiny building, garden, and figure so beautifully made and cared for. As you wander around, it’s impossible not to feel a sense of wonder spotting all the little hidden details. The gardens are stunning too, bursting with colour and so well maintained – they really add to the magical atmosphere. The staff are friendly and clearly take great pride in the village, which makes the whole experience even lovelier. It’s peaceful, quirky, and full of charm – perfect for kids, families, or just anyone who wants to escape into a miniature world for a while. A true hidden treasure on the Isle of Wight!

We were lucky & visited on a sunny day. The gardens are superb, the bonsai trees amazing; the churches have hymns playing, the bandstand music playing - railway has railway sounds. Wonderful afternoon out & beautifully tended gardens.

This model village has to be one of the sweetest places I've ever visited. It's family run for several generations and you can feel the love and companionship through the ages when you walk around the village, see the attention to detail and care taken, read the lovely guide and go into the craft gift shop. Great venue and an unusual activity. There's a little cafe too and a couple of photo spots.

Wasn’t too sure what to expect - and it turned out to be fantastic. There for over 90 mins and you can go round as often as you like. There is an easy to follow suggested route, or you can just wander. The models are really good and do match the original buildings Highly recommended

This was a great place to visit. It was actually bigger than thought and the woman at ticket sales was very helpful. No actual onsite parking but there is a free parking area before you get to the site. This gives chance to see other parts of village and places to rest and have a bite to eat or drink. Would recommend this as a must visit place.

Nice afternoon, I've been to model villages before including this one, gardens always well presented.. prices were a little high for the size I feel been to bigger ones and price was lower. But for a nice autumn 🍁 afternoon it filled a hole.

Had heard about this place. Well worth a visit for adults as much as children. Loved it, so delightful. The details into faces of miniatures were fascinating, and music playing from church and ballroom, to the miniature things in the shop windows....

The model village Godshill is an intriguing little gem, the model village is so beautifully made and maintained and the gardens are outstanding, all maintained to a very high standard. The staff were very friendly and welcomed our little fur baby. The gift shop has lovely trinkets to keep as memories of our morning here.

Nestled in the charming village of Godshill on the Isle of Wight, Thai Journey Restaurant is a newly opened gem that captures the vibrant spirit of authentic Thai cuisine. As you step inside, you're immediately enveloped by an inviting atmosphere that sets the stage for a culinary adventure through Thailand's rich flavors. The restaurant is conveniently located near a free parking area, making it accessible for visitors eager to indulge in its delightful offerings.
We just visited for my birthday. I am not exaggerating when I say the pork dumplings were the best thing I have ever tasted. We gave a large tip deserving of the amazing food and outstanding service. Huge compliments to the chef and the whole team. Undoubtedly the best food on the island.

Really delicious food, very reasonably priced with friendly & attentive service. I would highly recommend Thai Journey to IoW visitors & residents alike. One thing’s for certain - we’ll be going again!

Thai Journey Restaurant is next to the Model Village (separate glowing review) in the lovely traditional village of Godshill. There is a 24 hour free-to-park Isle of Wight Council car park a short walk away, but be aware that some small sections from the car park to the restaurant have no pedestrian pavement. However, it is a 20mph zone and drivers are considerate and aware, in our experience. Plus, there is space directly outside the restaurant to either park, or stop to unload, if required. Thai Journey Restaurant looks like a quaint cottage from the outside, but is magnificent inside, in a subtle yet opulent style. Dr Who fans: just think Tardis as the space immediately opens out as you enter through the front door! So, first impressions? Amazing welcome from staff, in a lovely straightforward style. Service at the table? Impeccable! At all times and at every stage. Food? OMG. Absolutely 💯 divine ✨️ 😍 💖 ❤️ 💕 🙌🏻 This is a true Thai 🇹🇭 treasure to behold! Wow 🤩 Prices? Excellent value 👏 Let's consider the quality of the food. Fresh ingredients, superbly curated, meals that leave you feeling nourished and energised, not bloated or too full. Service. Ambience. Atmosphere. Location. Amazing 👏 This unassuming but exceptional restaurant will continue to flourish ✨️ because it hits the golden spot for diners in every direction. Best Thai food we've ever had, and that's from the point of view from someone who's eaten in plenty of restaurants in Thailand 🇹🇭 We will return, there is absolutely no doubt about that! And, thank you to all the staff at Thai Journey Restaurant, including kitchen, chef, front-of-house, service staff et al. You do an amazing job 🙏

Great Atmosphere and Food Being a vegetarian it was not at all difficult to find good and alot of options. The food is superb, trust me on this I am literally giving this review sitting inside and having food 😇 Highly Recommend

Absolutely brilliant! All of the dishes we had were delicious. Authentic and fresh ingredients. Highly recommend the Papaya Salad. Our 9 year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed it too. We will definitely revisit in the future.

We arrived at opening time as a family of 4 on a bank holiday. They found us a table immediately and the rest of the restaurant filled up quickly! You can see why. Great food, really authentic Thai - with a fully separate vegan menu available which made ordering really easy. The full menu was impressive and we all enjoyed. Thank you Thai Journey! Lovely atmosphere, fast efficient service. If we visit the IoW again we will be back.
Hannah H — Google review
Possibly one of the best Thai restaurants if not best restaurant I have been to. The squid and pork dumplings were to die for so fresh and the batter was 10/10! Pad Thai was amazing and then had the banana to finish which once again SENSATIONAL! Highly highly recommend

We visited 3 times over a 2 week period - and each experience eating here was excellent. The freshness, taste and overall quality of the Thai food is superb. In particular, I love Massaman curry and Thai Journey's version was deeeelicious. In fact, on each occasion, everything we ordered was so good we ended up sharing between us. The service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is lovely. I've been lucky enough to visit Thailand a few times and eat at some wonderful Thai restaurants, and I can honestly say my experiences at Thai Journey were right up there with them; I highly recommend it.

Takeout Restaurant
The Fighting Cocks is a traditional pub located in Godshill, offering comfort food and a selection of real ales. The establishment features a classic atmosphere with bare beams and also boasts a spacious garden complete with a play area for kids. Despite its location between a garden center and car dealership, the pub remains popular among visitors. It has received recognition, placing third in the Best Pub category at the Red Funnel Isle of Wight Awards 2022.
We were recommended this place by a friend who comes from the island and said that this is where he goes when they go back to visit . We called for Sunday Dinner and as the pictures show, it was absolutely amazing! I had the veggie dinner. This came with three veg sausages. Tbh when I saw them I was a little disappointed as I am not a fan of that type of sausage. How wrong could I be though. They were so rich in cheese and onion and complemented the dinner so well. The others had the mega dinner each. This is a proper challenge to eat. It beat them both and the dogs combined! All the food is fresh and so yummy. A special shout out to the Yorkshire puddings and horseradish sauce. This is now our favourite Sunday dinner!!!

We were driving back to our hotel, and fancied a late lunch. We didn't know very much about the pub and were absolutely stunned at how good it was. It has a decent sized car park, all on the flat, making it suitable for those with mobility issues. A lot of people were outside on the many tables, enjoying the sunshine; but we had been outside all day and wanted a cooler position inside. The staff were very friendly and helpful; and I loved the call bells positioned on the tables, which really does seem to make it easier to serve customers. The menu is really good and there were numerous specials to select from. In the end, I chose the Ploughman's Lunch with the option to have ham, Stilton and Cheddar. The platter was seriously loaded up, with pickles, salad, fruit to add to the ham and cheese. Check the picture; it really was a substantial meal. From what I could see, other meals were easily as great a value. There was an impressive range of drinks, and I'm sure that everyone could find something to their liking. I have to say, it's a pity that the pub is not a bit closer to where I live; I would be going there on a very regular basis. If you are passing by there, please drop by; you will not regret it.

We stopped by for lunch after a long journey and were so glad we did. The food was delicious, the atmosphere cozy and welcoming, everything spotless, and the staff genuinely friendly. The menu offers a wide selection of both food and drinks. Portions are generous – even the smaller ones – so we couldn’t manage dessert this time. But we’ll definitely be coming back to try their incredible ice cream! Thank you so much for a truly lovely experience.

We booked a table for 6 for Sunday lunch easily on the website for when we came over to the IOW. We had great service from the front of house to waitress whom looked after us. We all had the Sunday lunch which was fantastic. A really great lunch. After lunch we sat in the beer garden to let the children run off all their energy on the bounce pillow and karts. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

No trip to the island, is complete with out stopping here at least once. Over the years we have been coming here, when the owner or other long term members of staff are working. They always come and say hello, ask us about our trip. Even the new faces to us are very polite. I don’t think service is slow here when they are super busy ether, the food is always piping hot, all are meals are served at the same time “handy if you wanna say grace, we just wanna tuck in personally” The food is always cooked how we like it, a great selection of options. The selection of beer is very good, my partner says the same for the cider. We’re not wine drinkers so can not honestly compliment them. It’s always clean and presentable, plenty of parking space. If you haven’t already visited the little gem of the island then what you waiting for. There big breakfast is always a favourite on the last day on the island. Will set you up a treat

A great cozy and spacious pub. Fantastic service, have a little buzzer on the table to call the server, order food, ask for the bill or cancel if mis-pressed. Staff very friendly and polite, fantastic food and big portions. Great value for money. Allowed us to do take away desserts and even asked if I wanted to have it stored in a way to heat myself at home and wrote guidance on the boxes. Fantastic experience all around, thank you

The Isle of Wight Steam Railway, located at Havenstreet, is a captivating destination that offers a journey through time with its well-preserved exhibits, steam-powered locomotives, and train stations. Visitors can immerse themselves in the rich history of railway transportation while enjoying rides on beautifully restored Victorian and Edwardian carriages. The site also features accessible facilities for wheelchair users and families with young children. Additionally, guests can explore the surrounding area, including the Woodland Walk and The Park.
Really enjoyed this, and train trips not required for an interesting visit. As an engineer I can't resist machinery so I was keep to visit the museum and see the old trains and the work going on. The museum & workshop only option is quite well priced and allowed us to see and do everything bar ride the train. Point to note; old railway carriages are open to sit in in the sheds, so you can still see what they're like inside. Anyway we went round the exhibits and learned a lot about the Island's fascinating railway history. We also got to see a steam train run up and down. Definitely interesting. Plenty of parking and food and loos available after entry.

This is undoubtedly one of the best heritage railway lines in the UK. Lovely location, great trains and facilities. Everything is clean and tidy and there's an interesting exhibition area which is great for both adults and children alike. This is a must do attraction on the Isle of Wight so go along for a great day out and enjoy yourselves 🚂🚂🚂

🚂 Isle of Wight Steam Railway – A Journey Through Time I had an amazing time at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. The train ride itself was a joy—rolling through beautiful countryside with stunning views that made every moment feel special. The vintage carriages and the sound of the steam engine added a nostalgic charm that’s hard to find elsewhere. The highlight for me was the Train Story museum. It was fascinating to walk through the exhibits and learn about the history of trains on the island. From old locomotives to interactive displays, it brought the past to life in such a vivid way. I left with a deeper appreciation for how rail travel shaped the world. Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or just looking for a unique day out, this place is a gem. A truly wonderful experience that blends scenic beauty with rich heritage.

Now this is a true treat, for the enthusiast or for just the casual daytripper wanting a fun day out, in friendly company and idyllic surrounds. Turn of the century rolling stock, some of the oldest you will find, transports you back to the halcyon days of steam travel on the island. There is a nice tea room at Haven Street, which is reasonably priced and offers tea, coffee, meals and alcoholic beverages too. A must visit if you're on the island. Easily reached by rail via the adjoining station at Smallbrook Junction.

Wonderful experience in steam railway. Can tavel between stations all day around. Main station Haven street station have plenty of free parking. Nice cafes, museum & gift shop. Train Story is a big exhibition of trians ,just few yards behind the station. Can spend few hours with friends & family. Had Halloween activities also when we visited in mid October. Family ticket is a bargain if travel with kids.

The weather today was frightful! It didn’t matter a bit at this amazing place. We were a three generation group and everyone enjoyed it. The staff were great, catering tasty and reasonable. It’s half term this week and the added magician and activities for the children were superb. And of course…. The trains ! Being able to get inside some of the carriages in the Train Story was great. Next time we visit we’ll go First Class. One end of the line to the other wasn’t enough. Thank you everyone.
Tricia K — Google review
It's excellent. The ride is in old carriages that have been beautifully restored, even "third class"!! The exhibition shows how the rail system on the island evolved and how the current steam railway society developed. And, of course, there is a cafe for tea etc, and also a restaurant for a hot lunch.

Lovely small railway, and nice rides through the countryside. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and it was great to learn about the history of the railway on the island. Havenstreet is where you'll find the museum, and work sheds, and there's a café/restaurant and bar.

From falconry and nature trails to a tractor train and woodland tree house, there's something for everyone.
Fabulous fun family day out We got there at opening time and didn't have to wait long to get in we headed straight down to the bottom of the park as we had heard it can get quite busy wait times for the popular attractions. We got on the toboggan straight away which brought back so many memories of when I was child going on this ride. We had less than 3 min wait for the other popular attractions which was amazing! The falconry display was simply amazing and the wife and husband who run it should be so proud of themselves! You can tell how passionate and hard working they are. Loved hearing all of their stories and the birds stories too. Was impressed with the amount of cafe stops and picnic seating areas there are dotted around the park. You will never have to go far to find a picnic bench to enjoy some snacks and drinks. The toilet facilities were clean and well kept and again you were never to far from one, which is great for little ones. Staff weee friendly and every question we asked was answered straight away with no hesitation! We literally spent the whole of the opening time at this park, where as other places we've been we've done everything after a couple of hours and left. Lovely day and loved my child experiencing a slice of what my childhood was like

We are so happy that the Robin Hill Adventure Park had reopened this year with what we understand are new attractions. Our family and friends had the most wonderful time there. The adults appreciated the cleanliness of the park, the beauty of the gardens and woodlands, and the kids (4-14) loved the glide ice ring, mini golf, playground, the tobogan run, bouncy nets, and the digger school, they did not want to leave. The Heron Smoke House restaurant was fantastic, everyone loved their choices. We did return on an additional day again to enjoy the park and discover more attractions. We plan to purchase the annual tickets next time!

Went as a group of 2 adults and 4 children — fantastic experience! Even though we couldn’t access everything due to the weather, there was still plenty to see and do. The kids loved the play areas and open spaces, and the atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing. The whole place felt well looked after. Definitely worth a return visit on a sunnier day to make the most of everything!

A wonderful day out for kids of all ages (we have four aged 2-11). We managed to get back for a cheap second day with their return offer and still had more things to do, so could have gone back for a 3rd if the weather was better! A beautiful and well looked after facility with an amazing tree-net adventure that kids love. We loved the toboggan, giant slides, boat rides, falconry show, parks, and diggers. We didn't even get to the grill which I would have loved! It's a great place to take the family and only the toboggan and food are extra cost, so once you are there you don't have to spend a lot.

Great day out for the family! There's so much for the kids to do that a day is easily needed. If you want to take your dog you can. It's a beautiful walk around the grounds even if you don't have kids. The staff are lovely and helpful.

My family and I loved Robin Hill! We came 3 times in a week as we felt so welcomed and loved how well it has been done up. My kids are neurodiverse and they came alive coming here. The new adrenaline Zone was their favourite and they were so well looked after by the team. I couldn't believe the confidence that built in them over their time on clip and climb! The falconry was wonderful and so enlightening too, it was lovely to see baby Ari! Great to see a company supporting locals too. With the new management everything has been cleaned and taken to that next standard, along side so many new things too!! We loved it!

We had a lovely day out at Robin Hill Country Park with the family. The setting is absolutely beautiful - spacious, green, and well-maintained, with plenty to see and do throughout the day. Highlights for us included the falcon show, ferret walking, trampolines, driving diggers, indoor ice skating, and several great playgrounds – our kids had a fantastic time! The Smoke House restaurant was also excellent, offering tasty food in a relaxed setting. The only downside was a disappointing moment regarding the toboggan ride. Our 8-year-old autistic son wasn’t allowed to ride with an adult because the rule stated he had to be 7 or under - a confusing and frustrating policy that meant he missed out on something he was really excited about. Unfortunately, this did affect the day for him quite a bit. That said, the park overall is well-priced, family-friendly, and full of memorable experiences. We’d still recommend it, especially if you’re looking for a fun day out in beautiful surroundings.

This place is magical. It will tick all the boxes for any age. There is enough to do for a whole day, and find you still missed things. The food at The Smoke House is hands down the greatest food I have ever eaten. The ribs were off the charts. The only thing we missed was ice skating, but this was due to the ago of our children. The gift shop has plenty of items of varying prices. Something for every budget, so no tantrums before leaving. I can not recommend this place enough, it really was magical, and very well run. All in all we will be returning. A lot.

The Isle of Wight Glass Museum provides a wonderful experience, with Joanne offering valuable assistance and knowledge. Rare wine glasses can be purchased, and visitors have the opportunity to meet the owner and his mother who passionately share insights about the place. The museum contains beautiful glass creations that go beyond mere glassware. Although it may be challenging to locate, it is worth visiting the Isle of Wight Studio Glass and heading upstairs to explore this one-man collection.
Had a brilliant time here. Looked after by Joanne who helped us with so much info. Purchased a couple of rare wine glasses from her. Also met the owner and his mum. Brilliant people who took time to tell us about the place. Please visit and go see Joanne and buy stuff. This is beautiful glass in fact it's much more than glass.

Not so easy to find. Go to the Isle of Wight Studio Glass and then go upstairs. It is 1 man's collection shared but is worth exploring. Some is not to my taste, but most of it was. All of its contents were beautifully made. Worth an hour or 2 especially on a rainy day.

Interesting demonstrations of glass ornament making. Fascinated the kids for a bit, not as big as it used to be at St Lawrence. An unusual place for a gift, if expensive.

The White Lion is a charming village pub that warmly welcomes hikers and their furry companions. The establishment offers an extensive menu, including delectable specials, a variety of ales on tap, and an array of tempting desserts. Visitors praise the tasteful decor and commend the friendly and accommodating staff. Guests particularly enjoy the 'curry night' with its generous servings of three different curries and rice for a set price.
My husband and I eat here every Sunday. The White Lion is the best of the best. We had Christmas and Boxing day in their excellent company. We felt we were a part of an extended family. Beautiful home cooked food. We cannot fault this family run business. They have had lower class clientele that were abusive. But rubbish always comes to the top of the pond. So ignore negative comments, if they want fast food then they can go elsewhere. This is quality food not junk food. FEB14 VALENTINES DAY 2025. WOW!!! Beautiful food and lovely touches with real red roses and heart shaped candles. I just have to show you my pudding. Lovely homemade meringue with that gorgeous chewy bit. Cream islands under all the meringues and huge strawberries. Three flavour meringues, plain, pistachio and raspberry. This was SOOOO good.

Although our experience did not start off well, we would definitely return again. Our reservation was for 11 people and a dog. We were promptly seated in the back room and were ready to order. After a long time, a lady came to inform us, that we can not sit there with our dog, that dogs are welcomed only in the front room. More waiting. After at least half hour, we were seated around several tables in the appropriate room, and being from the US, we waited for someone to take our drink order, by now the kids (5) were restless. No one came to explain the order and pay system, we finally saw a sign at the bar. More waiting followed, we had to choose food and pay for it at the bar as well. All this confusion made us regret coming here, however after having a drink and seeing the carvery and veg choices, we relaxed and were able to enjoy an absolutely delicious Sunday roast. Portions served were plentiful, the meat tender and juicy, the nut roast was liked by our vegetarians. We had also enjoyed the live entertainment, a lovely lady with a very beautiful voice and we stayed around for additional half hour listening to her. The pub is in a convenient location with plenty of parking, and a quaint old church nearby if you fancy a short postprandial walk.

Absolutely fantastic. First time visiting with family, welcoming atmosphere, very quiet for the time we were in. Food amazing.. we had the pie and because there wasn’t enough chips ready for the portion on the plate the chef sent out the pie so that it didn’t go cold and quickly followed by another serving of chips.

What a lovely family, island pub. Great atmosphere. Lovely friendly staff. Lovely food at a very reasonable price. Definitely will be coming back again. Julie, Ian and the team did a great job today hosting a free buffet for England v Spain Ladies football. Really nice traditional island pub run and managed the island way: making you feel really welcome and doing the best for you. Thank you very much and see you soon.
Paul T — Google review
While the food was acceptable, the overall dining experience was disappointing due to the behavior of other diners. Several guests were extremely loud, showed no table etiquette, and created an uncomfortable atmosphere. The locals on the island don’t like “holiday makers” yet it’s the source of income which keeps the island going. After visiting the island for 20 years I’ve never been in a restaurant where I felt so unwelcome. It was difficult to enjoy the meal in such an environment. Staff did not seem to intervene or manage the situation, which further impacted the experience. Staff then laughing with the diners after moving tables. Unfortunately, I would not return, as a restaurant should offer not only decent food but also a respectful and enjoyable setting.

Friendly staff and amazing food, can definitely tell it is home-cooked! The desserts especially wow-ed us as my wife, who normally never likes or orders a dessert, loved the pistachio meringue!

The White Lion is a very smartly decorated public house, the decor very tasteful. The staff were especially friendly and helpful. The food served was great, I visited on a "curry night" which I really enjoyed. You received a warm empty plate and you went to a table containing two massive tureens containing three different curries and boiled rice. You filled your plate and you can go back as many times as you like for £12.95. There was a normal menu available in case something different was required. The toilets were really clean and well maintained. All in all a really good experience.

Staff were the most rude ive ever expirienced, young girls aged around 16-18 swearing at you when you ask for them to heat up your food or complained Refused refund without even eating much of our food Physically forced out the pub Food was poured out of a bucket infront of you and was extremely dry flavourless cold just liquidy. This cost £20 per person

Food was lovely Service was quick The pub was quiet and lovely Couple of 🦚 wandering round outside, all very nice, it was a hot day and the only issue we had was there were flies buzzing round us all the time and it did feel like a fight for who would eat first lol 😂

The food was pretty abysmal unfortunately but it was worth a try. The staff tried to make up for it with positive service and banter but ultimately really not worth going to for food. The toilets are disgustingly bad and looks like the room hasn't been cleaned in a long while either. 4-5 flies constantly hovering around each table and constantly on the food also. Luckily there is better options nearby that are worth your time instead. Was rather looking forward to a nice family roast :( not worth the £80 for 4 people

Was invited for a look of the new menu and a look at the new sensory area.
