Nature & Wildlife Areas
East Sooke Regional Park, located on southern Vancouver Island just west of Victoria, offers a network of 14 diverse trails that wind through forests and along the shoreline. The Coastal Trail is a highlight, providing stunning views and opportunities to spot Orcas and Indigenous petroglyphs at Alldridge Point. Hikers of all skill levels can enjoy the park's beauty, with options like the Anderson Cove trail leading to the Mt Maguire lookout.
A big park with plenty of nature for everyone to experience. This park offers unparalleled beauty of BC's pacific coast with a variety of different landscapes and fauna. There are several weeks' worth of hiking trails to enjoy here. The trails are clean and well marked, minimizing the risk of getting lost in the dense foliage.

The portion of the park here is very nice. The trail leads up to the ocean 🌊 and a very nice look out point. The trail is easy to walk and there is lots of parking. If you’re in the area stop and enjoy the views and great walk.
Kirk D — Google review
Amazing park with a wide variety of trails to take. I absolutely love trekking up and down the coastal areas of the park, but the forest trails are also really beautiful. The trails are usually not very crowded and there's lots of edible berries along the paths. Great summer and shoulder season spot.
Tyler B — Google review
This park has something to offer for everyone! We did a relatively easy 6 km hike along the shore and wow it did not disappoint. Not only did we see the petroglyphs but we were lucky enough to see a humpback whale breaching! Keep your eyes out for other sea life, we also came across a bunch of sea lions swimming close to shore. If hiking is not your thing there is a beautiful day use area not far from the parking lot to enjoy a picnic.
Kim S — Google review
Another great spot to show visitors to the Island ! The park features diverse landscapes, including rugged coastline, forests, and tranquil beaches. A highlight is the ancient petroglyphs, providing a fascinating glimpse into Indigenous history.
Hameet R — Google review
One of my favourite spots to come in the South Island! Such a large park, tons of different trails The beach is nice to enjoy The coastal trail has beautiful views of the Olympics the whole way, with lots of spots to stop and relax! Lots of wildlife to be spotted and enjoyed ! Lots of birds, seals, sea lions, and even the occasional whale ! Easy to spend the whole day here There are also picnic tables near Alyard farm parking

I can't say enough about East Sooke Regional Park. We ventured off on the Coast Trail and WOW...the views were amazing and trail was so much fun. Please note that this trail is definitely not for the first time hiker at times. Make sure to read the trail description so you know what you're getting yourself into and download the "All Trails" App so that you can track your progress so that you know where you are during your hike. Being that the Coast Trail is right along the ocean please make sure that you are prepared for all types of weather, wildlife and situations. You will want to bring a hiking pack with snacks and hydration, as well i would recommend carrying Bear Spray just in case and also bring a jacket, hat, change of socks and a small first-aid kit (with Afterbite, as we had a couple hornet stings along the way). I also brought my hiking poles along which helped tremendously as we were climbing up and down all the rocky trail areas. Our hike ended up being about 13-14km and 6.5hrs (granted we stopped a lot to explore and take pictures and also had a wonderful 40min lunch overlooking the ocean). I would actually plan to start earlier in the future and take our time to stop and enjoy the many gravel beach areas we came across along the way. If you're looking for a memorable day hike that will challenge you and provide you with a great experience...the East Sooke Regional Park COAST TRAIL is definitely the hike for you. Have fun and be safe everyone! ***The two things I would maybe recommend to the organization that manages or maintains the trails is adding distance markers to your trail signs as we found it difficult to know how far along we were until we came to a couple maps along the trail. Also maybe a sign that says "Parking Lot this way" at the end of the trail as we had someone meeting us to pick us up and got turned around when searching for the parking lot.
Johnathan C — Google review
Coastal Trail: Difficult hikes at times and really tests your endurance. The views are amazing! You feel like you're the only one in the world - in paradise - once you get past all the busy beach areas near parking lots. It took 7 hours (6 hours moving time) from Ayland Farm parking lot to Iron Mine parking lot. The journey was over mixed terrain, through mixed forest, beaches and coves, under warm sunny blues skies with a light ocean breeze. I recommend to take two cars so you can do the entire Coastal trail one way. The halfway point is the cabin (bring a sharpie to sign the wall). An unforgettable hike!!!

Nature & Parks
Matheson Lake Regional Park offers a 157-hectare open space that provides various activities such as swimming, fishing and hiking. The park features a serene lake with sandy beaches perfect for swimming and sunbathing during the warmer months. Visitors can explore the park's many trails, including the Galloping Goose trail, which offers stunning viewpoints overlooking the lake. The hike around the lake is also beautiful and relatively easy, making it an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts looking to unwind in a peaceful environment.
It’s a short hike through the woods; can get bit dense towards the middle of hike. Hike is ranged from easy to moderate with few steep points along the way. Do check out serene nature view and beaver Dams as you travel through. Recommended to do hike in group with bear spray within reach. Preferably do on weekends when more people can be expected to be on the trail. Dogs need to be on leash during the hike. Carry your water and energy snacks with you. Do read about the carnivore population of the area including bears and wolves before hiking in this area. A safe hiker is an alert hiker. Happy hiking everyone and stay safe.

It's like a mini version of Thetis Lake but without the noise from the highway. The hike around the lake is short, about 4 km, but with hilly terrain that will be challenging for some. Lovely little island in the middle to have a picnic on if you come with a canoe or paddle board.
David B — Google review
You can make it a shorter, or longer hike... Depending on your walking pace; the trail we aimed for was the 4km Matheson lake perimeter one, to do with my parents. Easily marked trails, little bit of extra incline for those that do not hike often. Otherwise, it's an easy hike; there's maps at some points of the trail where you have the option to go further if you wish. Highlights: Some shaded areas to avoid direct the heat from the sun Beautiful scenery, gentle up and down slope Most of the trail is by the water Decent amount of parking Paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing Consider: Just keeping dogs under control/leashed Washrooms available only near the lake Didn't see picnic tables; if there are, very limited Smaller beach access There were spots where you may be comfortable to unleash the dog; we just see how our dog is behaving this particular day (sometimes she's got an attitude and doesn't listen right away), mostly we kept her leashed, especially if we see other hikers or dogs that are in the area. Merely to ensure a good experience with everyone we come across. There were some fishing nearby (not sure if its allowed there, but it was neat to see), so also to consider keeping fido close so those who are fishing aren't bothered. I wrote down smaller beach access- but the trail is close enough that you can reach the water in some parts (but there are foliage obstacles). Good walk/hike- my dad doesn't hike often (once a month), so he struggled slightly. Our shorter hike turned into closer to two hours at a casual pace.

Great hiking spot! It's easy enough that my 3 year old can do the whole thing but hard enough that it's still a good workout for the adults! Our dog also has a great time, people are respectful and I like that it connects to the goose

Very cute lake, good for hiking, swimming and paddling! We went for a nice paddle recently and enjoyed the beauty of this lake! It’s even better from the water perspective.

Beautiful 90min hike around d the lake. Enough ups and downs to get a workout. Very well maintained trail. Large parking lot and access from galloping goose trail. Beach. No boat ramp.

Lovely peaceful and relatively easy walk/hike around a little gem of a lake. The lake has a small beach, for swimming and sunbathing, in the warmer months.

Seafood restaurant
West Coast Grill is a popular restaurant that offers a memorable dining experience. The attentive and friendly staff go above and beyond to make special occasions even more special, such as by adding sparklers to desserts and singing birthday songs. The restaurant's busy atmosphere makes reservations essential, but the delicious food, like the Moa bowl and bucket of shrimp, makes it worth the wait. Additionally, the outdoor seating provides a pleasant environment for enjoying meals on sunny days.
I had such a great experience at West Coast Grill! The cod I ordered was cooked to perfection — crispy on the outside, tender and flaky inside, with flavors that felt really fresh and light. It honestly reminded me of the kind of meal you want to savor slowly. The service was warm and welcoming, which made the evening feel even more enjoyable. And I have to mention the desserts — they were absolutely delicious! Sweet without being too heavy, the perfect way to finish the meal. It’s the kind of place where you feel comfortable, well taken care of. There's also a kids menu and good breakfast options!
Alena K — Google review
We had high hopes for this meal and boy was it a letdown. First, I took forever to get our food. We waited 45 minutes for our appetizer and then another 30 for our main course. It was just not as timely as we would have liked as we were trying to catch the sunset. For appetizers we order the west coast chowder and roasted root vegetables. The roasted root vegetables were delicious, but had gone cold and the chowders texture was very interesting. You could tell it was the bottom of the barrel. Out chowder didn’t come with prawns for some reason but they gave us some on the side to make up for it which was quite nice and those tasted good. As our main meals we got the blackened salmon and lamb shank. The whole plate with salmon had a weird unpleasant lemony taste to it. The potato salad was edible, arugula barely edible and the salmon completely inedible. It was quite disgusting, I could only manage a couple bites. And this is coming from someone that usually clears her plate. The lamb shank was good but carrots were giant and still pretty raw so impossible to cut without making a mess. The presentation and atmosphere was nice but the quality of food and the time it took to get everything is not worth the price and means I will never be returning and advising others to try someplace else.

West Coast Grill in Victoria offers a very elegant atmosphere, made even better by its beautiful ocean view. It’s a lovely spot for a special outing or to enjoy a stylish setting. The food and drinks are presented beautifully and have a showy, upscale look, with prices that match the presentation. However, the taste doesn’t quite live up to the visual appeal — everything looked better than it actually tasted. Still, it’s a pleasant place to enjoy the view and atmosphere.

Indulged at West Coast Grill a lot while spending the weekend in sooke for a wedding. Cannot say enough about the service. Karen who we have twice, Sasha on our last night. Everyone was amazing and attention to detail. The food was incredible, fresh and delicious.

My husband and I had a delicious supper here on the night we arrived. We both had the Fish N' Chips: Pacific Fried Fish, Clam Chowder, Citrus Slaw, Caper Remoulade. For dessert we shared the Homemade Cheesecake. It was very artistically presented and was very tasty. For breakfast the next morning, Hubby had the Classic breakfast and I had the Yogurt Parfait & Toast. Again, the dish was artistically presented. We enjoyed our meals and the attentive service from our waitresses.

Indulged in a delicious dinner at West Coast Grill while we were in SOOKE. It’s located in the beautiful Prestige Oveanfront Resort Sooke NOT in Victoria as some of the reviews say. Sooke is a lovely little town about 1 hour by car from Victoria. We requested a table on the patio which has a gorgeous view! One tip they have patio heaters but I realized they don’t appear to switch them on unless you ask them to - so do ask! They also get **incredibly busy** and host a lot of events and celebrations, so you must make a reservation especially for dinner. We ordered the Chowder, Seared Tuna Burger and Fish and Chips (which also came with a small cup of chowder). The ambiance is elegant, the food was divine and the service was great! My husband wanted me to mention that they also had beers from local breweries which he really appreciated. I could eat that Chowder everyday it had some bite and came with a decedent Duck Fat Biscuit. I’ve taken off one star because they lost our reservation, even though we called twice to double check it. The reservations were written on loose pieces of paper with no real system - definitely an area that could use improvement. Otherwise a great experience and we would go back again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful good and ambiance. Not full stars because they didn't serve alcohol to my adult(22) daughter despite showing them a photo ID. Traveling from AB, we never bring more than one🥲.

Route 14 Sooke is a lively spot with an upbeat bar area and upscale tavern fare. The establishment boasts a well-decorated interior and a roadside sundeck, providing a comfortable setting for patrons. The food is of excellent quality, with notable dishes such as the prime rib, salmon, Cobb salad, chicken Parmesan, and lamb confit receiving high praise. While the French fries may need some improvement, the overall dining experience is enjoyable.
I had an amazing dining experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, with fresh ingredients and rich flavors that truly stood out. The seafood pasta was perfectly cooked, with a flavorful sauce that complemented the fresh seafood beautifully. The mussels platter was another highlight—fresh, juicy, and full of flavor. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. If you visit sooke, this place is definitely a must-visit! I will absolutely be coming back for more.

We had the Fish & chips and Fresh catch and both were so good — fresh and very well-prepared! The fries were freshly cut and the polenta fries were surprisingly yummy. Service was lovely and we were absolutely thrilled to have been able to enjoy our dinner at the patio with our dog ❤️

This little gem has been in Sooke for years now, they’ve had hard times just like every other business, and they relentlessly keep coming out on top of the competition. Their consistency, the unique playlist of the owner, the most beautiful staff in town… I love this place!

Great place to eat. We had a lovely meal. My only feedback is the basic burger needs a little bit of flavour but everything was fresh and excellent.

Nicely done, a colourful pub restaurant experience in Sooke. A good selection of food items including a few vegan ones as well. We had a delicious beef dip with fries and a burger with a garden greens salad both portions were generous. Worth checking out if your travels take you near by.

Visted 2 nights in a row while visiting Sooke with friends. After full days exploring, we found Route 14 one of the few open late and close to our accommodations. A bit loud with sports on TV but the hostess found us a quieter spot. Very friendly wait staff. Lots of menu options. I had calamari one night, which was perfectly done. We all had the fish and chips special on our second visit. Hand cut fries. Fish wasn't greasy at all. Very reasonably priced. Food was hot and arrived quickly. Would definately visit again.

If you are in this area, this is a good choice for you. The food is good and affordable price. It's super busy but they offer good service. Many people are go for take out. Four of us order only 4 dishes, rice and 2 nanns. We bring the left over to our hotel are good for one more meal.

Service was so good!!! Super friendly waitress (she gave us a take out box without asking which was super nice) and food came quickly. It was tasty, and maybe after living in Vancouver we have a higher standard but to be honest the food was pretty good! We had chicken tikka and jalfrezi. Jalfrezi chicken was soooo soft and sauce was flavourful. Tikka was solid. Also, mango lassi enjoyers rejoice! The mango lassi was delicious. If I’m ever out in Sooke again will be sure to visit

🌴 Ambience: A simple, interior with large tables and booths, that are clean and spacious. 🍲 Food: Absolutely delicious. We had the palak kofta, karahi paneer and garlic naan and all were amazing. They were also very large servings, with enough for us to take home for 1-2 meals for two people. The food came quickly and was fresh and hot. 🫑 Vegetarian Value: Amazing value. Our dishes were $15 each and large, there's a large selection of vegetarian meals and they're made very well. 💸 Price: Very reasonable for the amount that comes with it! If you order like you normally do, expect leftovers.

Old school cozy Indian Restaurant located in Sooke. Food is good, I would specifically say that this place serves Indian Food which is adjusted to cater to the more bland taste, or should I say “Indian Food adjusted for White People”. This by all means is all good, since I have Canadian friends who can’t tolerate moderate desi spice levels. Chicken Biriyani, Butter Chicken and Naan Bread was alright, I would give all of the dishes 6.5/10 considering I am fond of authentic Indian delicacy. The staff, specially the young lady in the front was amazing and very hospitable, she made sure to follow up if we needed anything else and on the food, cheers to her for being a good host. I prefer having Indian Food the way they are meant to be, masala kicking and spicy. I can totally see many people loving the food here. If you want to have Indian food, but without the spice, this is the place. The one thing I absolutely loved about this place is the cozy setup and decor. This place has this old school Indian resto type of feel to it. Would be a bliss to visit during evening hours.

The staff were courteous, attentive, and made sure every detail was taken care of, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. The food and service were nice. The classic breakfast was a bit not to my taste but quite tasty. I was very disappointed with the level of cleanliness in the hall, the floor was greasy and dirty, the legs of the chairs were black and scratched, spoiling. the appetite and the atmosphere. Under some tables there were a lot of food remains, crumbs and even a puddle of water. It would be great to improve the level of cleaning and update the interior

The food is consistently amazing. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. The food truck is pure comfort and popping by feels like you’re visiting good friends. Japa-Mac is god tier. The Buddha bowl is delicious and so are the chicken katsu skewers and mango salad. Where Hide N Seek really shines is in their events! Chef moto is a culinary genius. His passion and skills are on full display during these events. We had them cater a lunch for our wedding and the quality and presentation were exceptional. Our family still brings up the food. We’ve been to several of the special events hosted at Mile Zero Brewing and I highly recommend them. Chef Moto’s creativity and attention to detail are most impressive.

His food is absolutely beautiful. The prices are fair. The food is first rate. Also; nip around the back of the food truck, there's a covered area to sit with picnic tables backing on the forest. It's quite nice.

We found the best eats in Sooke!! Honestly wasn’t expecting too much from our visit as we were just prepared for beautiful hikes, but we saw this place had 5 Stars so we stopped by on the way back and I’m so glad we did. We got two Wiggley Jiggley bowls and everything was SO GOOD. The braised pork belly was buttery smooth and had great flavour. Egg, the most perfectly done jammy egg I’ve ever seen. I didn’t even know eggs could be that texture. Not like your regular jammy egg which is still a bit liquid in the middle, but perfectly soft and creamy all the way through. Flavour, didn’t feel like it needed anything else. Was just nice as it was and easy to get a perfect bite every time. Sizeable portions— was satisfying after a few hours of hiking. I almost couldn’t finish my bowl which was nice because it meant I was full the whole day. Highly recommend this hidden gem! Note that you want the sea foam green truck with the pale pink door. They don’t really have a clear sign with their truck name. Just make sure you’re not going to the wrong food truck.

The definition of a hidden gem! One of the best meals I’ve had in the middle of ‘nowhere’. Don’t let the food truck fool you, the quality of the food is super high. Was prepared perfectly and soooo tasty. We ordered the pork belly and beef dishes along with the tofu ‘sandwich’ and the matcha tea affogato for dessert. One of my favourite food experiences.

Best food truck ever!!! Food is beautiful and incredibly delicious! I only wish I lived closer so I could go all the time. Chef Moto is amazing!! 🤩

Went here a couple of times. The staff was super friendly. The wiggly jiggly(pork) is probably the best thing they have on the menu. The moo moo(beef) was also really good. Tried the Yuza banana bread which wasn't too bad

Geologic Formations
Sooke Potholes Provincial Park, located on southern Vancouver Island near Victoria, is a picturesque destination known for its tranquil waterfalls and natural swimming pools. The unique rock formations were created millions of years ago during the last ice age. Visitors can enjoy a refreshing dip in the cool, clear freshwater pools and explore short scenic trails through dense forests. The park offers unspoiled beaches, hiking trails, and opportunities for picnicking.
Beautiful and easy to get to. Great trails, clear water and rock formations to make you say”Wow!!! Absolutely love it here, coming swimming in summer for sure

Nature at its finest. This was a brief stop but enjoyable. All parks should be five stars ⭐️. Trails, swimming in the river and other natural places are enjoyed by all that come here. My wife and I loved it here.

Beautiful and easy hike on March 31. From parking lot 3 it's an easy hike along the Riverside trail to see the rock formations and river. Plenty of parking, even around noon during a long weekend. Fairly easy hike but some spots do get really hot without the shade. Can be a bit trickier if you want to climb down the rocks to get down the the river for a swim.
Jackie Q — Google review
Family friendly, beautiful spot for a swim. You have to pay to park but it's only $2.25 for the day. Totally worth it. Don't park in parking areas you will be ticketed.
Bbryenton — Google review
This was really cool to see. Lots of natural pools that you can swim in. Multiple points of entry. 3 parking lots so ample parking. There is also a campground although we visited in mid September and it was already closed. There are some good trails to walk as well. I would recommend bringing something to swim in.
Marco M — Google review
Nice hiking trail. Beautiful potholes and also a waterfall that was a short quick hike. However on the way back you can take a loop or go back the same way you came in from the parking lot. The loop will take you to a huge pipe that you have to take which can get a bit scary if you're afraid of falling.
Louise ( — Google review
Great spot for walking and hiking. You have to walk from the parking lot to access all the trails. The Mary Vine Creek waterfall trail was fairly easy ending at a nice cascading waterfall.
AJ A — Google review
Great place to visit for a walk and clamber over the rocks to see the potholes. If you are brave enough you can even go for a refreshing swim. We parked in lot 3 and have a short walk up the path to the potholes.

History Museums
The Sooke Region Museum & Visitor Centre is a fascinating community museum that offers a glimpse into the area's pioneer days through dioramas and historical artifacts. The friendly staff provides insights on local attractions and seasonal highlights, while free resources are available to enhance visitors' knowledge. The museum also features outdoor exhibits and a mini art gallery curated by university students. Despite its small size, the well-maintained museum offers an enriching experience for those interested in the history of Sooke.
A fantastic little museum that beautifully showcases Sooke’s rich history! The exhibits are well-curated, featuring everything from Indigenous heritage to early settler life. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to share insights. A must-visit for anyone interested in local history. I am always enthralled in the thursday night markets that are held there during the warmer months.

we were driving along the road and accidentally stopped with the family. A very interesting place, old houses like in the heritage park. a lighthouse that you can go into and look at from the inside. There was a fair and it was very fun and lively. I recommend it as a place where you can stop for 30 minutes on the road, or as another point during the day, for travelers to unwind and look at the heritage park. Especially interesting for children

We visited the centre to get information on local beaches and attractions. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We received an incredible amount of information, including maps and brochures on the attractions we were interested in. The store and museum also offered a very pleasant walk around looking at wonderful gifts, souvenirs and local history. A beautiful stop on our trip.

This is a lovely little museum full of very interesting artifacts and dioramas for the history of Sooke. The staff were extremely nice to us, and helped us with suggestions for local things to do. During the summer they have a local market with live music every Thursday. I loved learning about the past of the area. There is also a lovely gift shop with reasonable prices. I highly recommend stopping in!

We ( senior adults) enjoyed walking around in this museum and seeing all the great displays, excellent and detailed dioramas and artifacts. We learned a lot about the history of Sooke and area. It is Free to tour, but we made a donation to help the museum pay for the upkeep of this great little museum. I also bought a pretty purse from the gift shop.

This little gem in Sooke is a must-see for locals and visitors alike. Check out the lighthouse and the amazing gift shop - a real treasure-trove for Indigenous art and jewelry. During the summer months, the Night Market offers local produce and crafts. Best of all, admission is by donation. Don't miss out!

Museum is excellent record of past times. The advice about a walk was confusing, we didn't have a car, which I did communicate. But it was much further than she said. We only got to the entrance to the park itself before it was time to walk back, 13kms in all. The river also had plenty of water in it for a dip, which we were told it didn't. Nice lady otherwise. The Galloping Goose trail was full of birdlife so we had a great walk. Highly recommend, but take a car!!

Really nice place to visit and staff are super friendly, you can use the picnic tables outside which is great if you're traveling and want to cook something on the road. Washrooms inside the building super clean. The bear is right outside the door. There's a beautiful wooden swing to sit on as well.

Good products! Great prices. But the woman with curly and glasses, is SOOOOO disgustingly rude. So was the little boy she was working with. We asked a simple question. Got ignored. Said "have a good day" and the old lady just gave me a dirty look. Never recommending this store to shop at.

Bad experience here today. Started as we inconvenience the staff trying to restock directly in front of the entrance. Their (2) behavior got worse. Had to leave quickly, sorry we bought a pop, wouldn't ever transfer money for their goods or services merchandise as they call it. Hope these ladies don't plan on working their long, attitudes like they showed us can crumble any buisness, boo Fields in Sooke

It's pretty pricey. There were some people looking at something and the sales associate flipped out at them started screaming at them stop playing with that it was $600 to buy that. She lost it on them. And I could hear her from across the store. I think you need to really consider training that employee or maybe a few employees in customer service... How to treat customers and leave your own issues at the door. It's a very small cramped space they do have some neat stuff however the prices are too much.

They have pretty much everything at this store and what they carry is really nice as well as reflective outerwear for the working man or woman and I should know because I just got women's NuWave long johns,a medium heavy jogging jacket and a really nice reflective work jacket from there for Christmas! I'm not cold now!. Oops, I just about forgot about my sheets, cotton and flannel! Their prices are really good too!

Visitors praise its excellent merchandise and diverse beer selection, along with ample indoor and outdoor seating for a pleasant experience. The staff are highly knowledgeable and provide exceptional customer service. Additionally, the on-site food truck offers a variety of delicious options to complement the beers.
Great place great beer selections. We ordered a glass of cider, flights and a glass of India pale ale. The bartender really knows his stuff. We don’t like it bitter and strong and he makes great recommendations for our flights. Love them all, especially Czech dark lager. Would recommend this place for people who are visiting Sooke!

We were able to do a backroom tour of the Sooke Brewing Company. An upscale establishment with a bit of character (see the saw blade) with a good production floor and a range of beers to sample. Friendly staff and I found the backroom tour (set up for our group via West Coast Brewery Tours) informative and well worth the trip out to Sooke. I liked the environment and the building, but to my tastes the beer was on the average side.

A lovely mid-afternoon stop for a couple beers. Great flavor on the Belgian Blond. Super enjoyable. Nice brewery atmosphere, friendly staff, and a great little patio. Super easy parking. We liked the beers so much we grabbed a handful of cans to-go too!

Went here a few months ago, and it was awesome! Great selection of beer, friendly, knowledgeable staff, and really friendly patrons gave it a nice "local pub" feel. Definitely coming back when we get a chance!

We had 2 flights and tasted most of what they were pouring today but none of it was memorable. Liked the building and Atmosphere, plus the food trucks were a bonus. We didn't have a server but the guy who poured our flights had zero personality and didn't want to be there, a complete turn off. Possibly a different day, different experience, but we left as soon as we were done and won't look back.

This is a pretty great place to have some beer and get some grub to eat. They have quiet a bit of seating, whether it's inside with everyone else, or out back where you can have a quieter experience. Staff are super friendly and from what I saw, sporting some great mustaches! Food truck in the back has a great variety of food to try. It's one guy in the truck so you have to give him proper time, but when he delivers, he delivers!

Great place for beer in Sooke. Ten different craft beer were available when we went. Of those we favoured the darkest one — the Czech. I wish they had food in-house but apparently food trucks are parked out-back to service the thirsty beer customers (we didn’t try but it looks good). I’d recommend going here if you’re in Sooke.

Sooke Mountain Provincial Park is a pristine, well-maintained natural oasis that offers a breathtaking outdoor experience. The facilities are impeccably kept, with spotless washrooms and clearly marked trails. It's disappointing that camping in the wilderness is no longer allowed due to the negative impact of irresponsible campers. However, the stunning forest and lakeside scenery at Shields make up for it.
Clean and brisk energy surrounds the park with hundreds of little clean trails which lead to numerous peaks throughout the park. Empress Mt. is a great hike over its many different paths and creeks. Good for practicing navigational skills. Hope to be back one day.

Sooke Mountain Provincial Park is a hidden gem for those seeking a more rugged and adventurous outdoor experience. The park operates year-round from dawn to dusk, giving you ample time to explore its wild beauty. When visiting, wear sturdy hiking boots and dress in layers. The terrain is uneven, and weather can change quickly in the higher elevations. Be sure to bring plenty of water and a trail map, as some routes can be challenging to navigate. Safety tips include checking for uneven ground and loose rocks and ensuring enough daylight to complete your hike. One of the best trails to try is the Sooke Mountain Trail, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area. You’ll likely encounter various wildlife, including black-tailed deer, squirrels, and many bird species like hawks and eagles. You might even spot a bear or cougar if you're lucky, so always stay aware of your surroundings.

I just had one of the best, and certainly the biggest calzones of my life. So impressed with their customer service! Last night I ordered pick up and upon arrival they mentioned the oven temperature was slightly off. They told me they would make me new pizzas in 15 min. I thought the pizza looked fine and was ok to not remake but they insisted if I take it that I would take a free dessert and 4 dips for free. The pizza was only slightly crunchy but still tasted great! This afternoon, they called to make sure it was ok… Compelling me to write this. We will be back! :)

Picked up the pizza on a Friday, and they were slammed. Workers were killing it behind the counter, all with smiles on their faces. Waited 50 mins but was totally worth it, pizza was AMAZING! With friendly staff and great coffee, it offers a lovely patio setting with blankets available. This authentic and local cafe promotes environmental concerns for the local forests and offers delicious seasonal treats like gingerbread with frosting.
The coffee is really good! I got an oat latte and my partner ordered a mocha with oat milk, he loves it and mind you he's really picky with his coffee but this place hits the spot! Highly recommended. I've attached their latest menu as of June 2023.

5 star service from Matt at the Roastoreum! I went in looking for an at-home solution to making my favourite café latte without needing to spend 1000$ on an espresso machine. Matt was able to walk me through many different options - but ultimately we landed on the Aeropress! He then proceeded to experiment on the spot with water to coffee ratios to ensure I could get that perfect “espresso” using the Tsunami blend. Just made my first at home latte and I’m in LOVE with the result! Thank you Matt - above and beyond customer service and coffee expertise.

If you’re reading this, you’re likely saddened to learn that The Stick has temporarily closed. 😢 Where else can we go to enjoy such amazing caffeinated beverages and scrumptious baking in the company of incredibly kind and entertaining staff and customers alike? Nothing else comes close to this community-minded institution in Sooke. If you’ve been there, you know what I’m talking about. So here’s the thing… There’s presently a Coop trying to put together finances to buy the Stick. If you adore this place as much as I do, you could be one of them. It's a go-to spot for many people due to its value for money and satisfying options for those with a sweet tooth. Customers appreciate the cleanliness of the stores compared to other fast-food establishments, as well as the friendly and helpful staff.

The service was very bad at this tim hortons I came to take coffee and something eatable. I ordered coffee and veggie celantro wrap, but the staff gave me chicken wrap. I never ate non-veg in my life, I’m regional person but due to the staff mistake, I had to eat non-veg. When I went to talk to staff them the manager talked very rudely and he said that what you want either refund or replacement? I highly recommend to others do not come.

It's always been on my bucket list to try a Tim Hortons, so I decided to try this store while vacationing in Sooke. I ordered a dozen donuts for my family, a breakfast sandwich, and a coffee. The lady at the counter was polite, and incredibly fast! I waited for maybe 3 minutes to have my entire order, which is crazy fast. The donuts got rave reviews from my family and the breakfast sandwich was really decent. I was a bit surprised that the coffee was weak, however. Maybe my palette is just ruined by the black tar that is American coffee, but it was just mostly cream in my opinion. I'm glad I gave it a try, it was an overall positive experience. Give the early morning cashier a raise, she is superhuman!

This location is always busy on the weekend/long weekend. As a Store Manager myself, I'd anticipate that and schedule more staff. With that being said, things were running slow do to large food orders, totally understandable but wait times were long. The lady with the red hair came out probably 10 minutes into my wait in the cafe and really stepped in and got things going, orders organized made sure people who were waiting the longest were prioritized and confirmed their orders. She also corrected food that was rung in incorrectly at cash. I have to say, she's amazing! Anyone would be lucky to have her on their team!

I’m so happy I downloaded the Too Good To Go app! I reserved a surprise bag from the Tim Hortons in Sooke (6660 Sooke Road) for just $5 and was absolutely thrilled with the box of baked goods I received. Truly, the staff were so kind and generous—it was such a great experience from start to finish. Thank you so much for being part of this wonderful initiative. Too Good To Go is such a smart way to fight food waste and support local spots at the same time. I’ll definitely be keeping this app in regular rotation! 🙌🍩💚

The washrooms were extremely unhygienic and poorly maintained. Both the men’s and women’s washroom were locked and when asked for the key, the employee stated that they had lost it. There was 6 people waiting in line for the accessible washroom. When we finally got to the front of the line, the floors were dirty and wet, with scattered toilet paper on the floor. There was no toilet paper and the dispenser was knocked onto the ground. We brought this to the employee’s attention and he showed no sense of urgency. We left without using the washroom as we were so disgusted by this. We will never be coming back to this Tim Horton’s.

Two reason why I won't go back to Tim Hortons: 1. $8.99 for a salad 2. Said salad was not even half full in what was already a very tiny bowl... put some ingredients in the bowl!! If I hadn't already paid I would never have accepted the salad and just gone somewhere else but I was in a hurry... and the chicken habenaro wrap was even tinier. C'mon Tim's... you used to be far better. I won't be returning.

Japanese restaurant
Teriyaki House is a pleasant place to make a brief stop before continuing on the journey. The establishment is neat and organized, offering plenty of natural light in the dining area. In colder seasons, a compact heater keeps the room cozy. Their tempura is exceptional, featuring a delicate coating that is fried at the ideal temperature to achieve an Asian-style crispy texture. Although there may not have been any surprises with their spring rolls, the seafood boxes do not disappoint in terms of protein content.
Nice little stop over before the road ahead. The place is clean and tidy, with ample sunlight to the dinning space. During cold times a small heater runs in that room. Their tempura is top notch, lightly coated and fried at right temperature for the Asian light crisp texture. Tho I don’t remember being surprised by the spring roll. Nevertheless, the protein in their seafood boxes didn’t disappoint. Both the salmon and the shrimp are tender. Lots of stir fried veggies with teriyaki sauce. The couple who runs the place is patient and wonderful.

Greeted by the sweetest couple you may ever meet, the Teriyaki house delivers some of the tastiest food I've experienced in Sooke, and at a reasonable price. The Korean BBQ chicken is to die for, 4 deep fried sweet and spicy thighs with beautifully cooked fries for $15. For $45 we got a chicken yakisoba bowl, 4 PC Korean BBQ chicken, and a 7 piece tempura, filled us to the brim for two people, served with a smile. You will NOT be disappointed.

We wanted a small bite from somewhere. This place is super small, but I did like the food options they had. We ordered the Korean Styled Fried Chicken Original. It was fresh, and friend so nicely where it was the perfect golden brown. It was still SO JUICY as well. For 16.99 as well, actually so worth it.

We have been driving past this place for years and finally dropped in. The owners were very accommodating and the food was excellent especially for such a small kitchen. They did have a tiny washroom and there is not much seating area but it is clean. I will definitely be back when out near Sooke.

Ordered a Teriyaki Chicken box; it is absolutely loaded! The teriyaki sauce is so authentic I thought I had been transported to Japan! 🗾 The tempura is perfect and the miso is on point and mild. Service is also authentic, Obasan, is busy don't waste his time please.

I came here with a group of 5. This restaurant is owned by a sweet Korean couple. Once we ordered in the front, we sat indoor and they said they would bring the food to us. The food came pretty quick and everyone enjoyed their meal. However, the wonton soup was small for the price. I am from NYC, so in Chinatown I could get more wontons plus noodles for the same price. Overall, we had a great experience. the restaurant is kept clean. There are both outdoor and indoor seating. Also there an ice cream shop next door so you can go there for dessert!

Pleasantly surprised. The portion was a bit smaller than expected, but it ended up being perfect for lunch and really the best fish and chips I've had in a while! Ordered cod and chips with a side of gravy. $18.88

French Beach Provincial Park is a beautiful campground located on Vancouver Island just minutes from Victoria. The park offers a boat launch, playground, and year-round camping for all ages. There are also trails and picnic areas available for visitors to enjoy.
Beautiful beach and a relatively easy 1 km hike each way from the parking lot. Unfortunately, recent windstorms have made the trail down an obstacle course. Hopefully that will be cleared up soon.
Owen T — Google review
A really beautiful park, has camping and a great day use area Only a 3-5 minute walk from the car park to the beach The beach is sandy which is nice since there aren’t too many Sandy beaches on the island At the south end of the beach there are some small tide pools The day use area has about 5 campfire rings, some picnic tables, a children’s playground, lots of grass, and a toilet
Jordan B — Google review
Gorgeous views, the only downside is that there’s no onsite office so for questions you just have to wait for someone to come around when they do their rounds! Besides that overall nice camp. No showers but nice scenery. All campsites had trees surrounding to provide bit of privacy. Water and pit-toilets.
Timara L — Google review
Booked this back in March (had to book 2 months in advance online) was SO WORTH IT. We lucked out in the weather, and the campsite was so clean and well kept. We were a 5 min walk from the ocean and they had a brand new children's playground. There is drinking water and pit toilets available on site. And you can have fires (there are picnic tables and fire pits in each campsite) There were two bears when we stayed. Although we did not see them, it's important your food stays in your vehicle. (They have steel containers If you come with no car) One thing to note is there is no service when you are at the campground. So keep that in mind prior to your visit. You can technically get roaming from the US but we opted not too. When you arrive you check the sign of the list of campsites to find yours, and a park ranger will meet you on their rounds for check in. I only had to show my ID for check-in. They also sell wood but it was cash only. I couldn't get over how green the trees were and how calming the ocean sounded. I HIGHLY recommend this campsite. We will definitely go next year.

A very scenic drive alongside the Coast, beautiful sights and stops all the way here. So many beautiful beaches and trails ❤️ So much to see and do. One trip at a Time 😀 I'll see it all 😊 sooner or later. Some sections of this highway is rough for a highway. This is another big beach with lots of parking.

Just a handful of people here during the Thanksgiving weekend. Very peaceful and we thoroughly enjoyed the drive here. Love day trips and joyrides to new places. Definitely coming back here again and I highly recommend this place for a beautiful view here and along the drive getting here. Not a cloud in the sky when we came and the sun was shining, reflecting off the water like a mirror. Saw a few crabs and fish while the kids tossed rocks at the surf, great place to unwind and relax, perhaps have a picnic 😀. Loads of places to chill and eat, at least 4 portable toilets that we saw, playground for the kids. The hill back up can seem unusually steep so keep an eye on the older folks please..
Booyaka ( — Google review
Very nice place for family play and unwinding. Be prepared for it to be windy since it's not in a cove. That said there's plenty of areas for reprieve from the wind. Recommend bringing everything you need before getting there. Bathrooms are clean with pit outhouses. Lots of picnic areas and a cool playground for the kids.
EJ R — Google review
It is a really beautiful area, the beach is stunning. There are many paths and trails to explore. We had a relaxing time there. Although there are no hookups, we got along just fine without them. I highly recommend this campground.

Sandcut Beach is a remote and stunning beach located along the southern coast of Vancouver Island. It is part of the Juan de Fuca Trail and features sandstone cliffs with beautiful waterfalls cascading onto the beach. While not ideal for sunbathing, it offers a picturesque setting for coastal hikes. The beach is known for its stunning views of the Olympic Peninsula and boasts a unique waterfall that flows directly onto the shore.
A nice and quiet beach filled with pebbles and not sand. Was it quiet because it was a saturday in April ? Not sure. 400 meters small but lovely hike to the beach from the parking lot with stairs. Not wheel chair accessible. And not to miss the cute little waterfalls. Maybe 300-400 meters walk to that waterfall from the point the trail reaches the beach.
Kathirazhagan A — Google review
Short trail to the beach. Beach is filled with pebbles and there is also waterfall at the left end corner of the beach. Very beautiful and peaceful place to spend the day.
Ron R — Google review
Super beautiful. A nice hike. There are stairs and lots of roots, useful to carry little ones in a carrier for the trek to and from.
Mimosa C — Google review
Such a nice beach to enjoy and go for a walk. It's about a 400m hike down, some steep stairs but not too bad.
De C — Google review
Park at the sandcut beach parking lot, not the hotel next to it. Be prepared to walk through forest with uneven footing as you will be walking on tree roots. As well as a mini stair master to get down and back up. Once you get to the beach, walk left till you see the waterfall and huge tree.
Lucas C — Google review
This is NOT the address of Sandcut beach. This is a private resort. Drive 2km west and look for the parking area on left by the road.
Bob S — Google review
What a hidden gem. The path is very short to the beach maybe 10 minutes. Then if you are faced the water turn left and walk down the beach and you will see the waterfalls. It was a lot of water when I was there so we could climb up and walk back into the woods. Very cute spot.
Kelly C — Google review
June24/2018. At the parking lot we met a very congenial gentleman with the park service taking counts of the number of people using the park. A very small parking lot here and could use more space. He went out of his way to help us get parked.Thank you again.Take care. The trail down to the beach is about 800 meters. The interesting part here is also the trail, very thick with foliage,as this is a rain forest. The trail itself is over roots and rock with stairs. If you come here without rain you have a lucky day for your hike. Once at the beach the high lite of Sandcut,is the falls, which is about 500 meters to the left.Low water you can climb up the ledge behind the falls and explore the creek bed.Have fun and play safe.

Beautiful to be warmly welcomed into Glenn’s’ studio to see her process on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Many beautiful creations to view and purchase.

The Marshall-Inman gallery is a cute little Shoppe just west of Sooke, close to the Tugwell Creek Honey Farm & Meadery. We stopped by to check the craftsmanship and also got a bonus view of some alpacas too! The owners there were very kind, and are the ones who made all of the woodworks, glass crafts, as well as the knitted accessories out of the fur from the alpacas seen earlier. From key chains, wooden toys, wall art and other items we enjoyed seeing what the gallery had to offer. It wasn't busy either, visiting on the weekend and parking was plenty. The entrance is a little tricky to spot, because there is a private property before the Shope that's an Airbnb. But a simple call, and the staff was quick to point us in the right direction. It's worth a stop if you're in the area, if you're interested in cute small crafts and want to support a local crafts shop!

Visiting from Saskatchewan and came upon this highly touted gallery. The owner Glenys was kind enough to open her studio up to us while she had just returned from vacation. We absolutely loved all the pottery and woodwork and managed to pick up some beautiful pieces. Also their pet Lammas on their farm were so darn cute, I didn’t want to leave! Highly recommend visiting this lovely spot just outside of Sooke.
Mary-Lou G — Google review
The gallery and small little house overlooking the ocean was amazing. Basil & Glenys are amazing to talk to and are so talented. There’s woodwork, pottery, and then you get to look at the llamas which is an added bonus. I would highly recommend stopping by even if it’s for five or 10 minutes to see their art and to have a great conversation.

Ella Beach is a serene and picturesque spot, perfect for a romantic stroll or peaceful meditation. While the beach may have more pebbles and rocks, it offers a calm and relaxing atmosphere with pleasant waves. The rocky terrain makes it unsuitable for strollers or wheelchairs, but it's an ideal place to take dogs for a run or swim. Visitors can enjoy stunning views across the Olympic Peninsula and capture breathtaking sunset moments.
The day was beautiful, a little overcast but the sun was shining through. It was quiet and relaxing. Would be a great place for a romantic walk or meditation. It will take a couple of minutes to get there but opens up to a nice southern vista. Highly recommend.

Rocky and windy beach. Great for a picnic or strolling along the waterfront. Limited parking and about 120 meters from parking area to beach. Clean and not very busy.

Very pretty beach stunning view but completely rock covered, not easily walkable for those with little legs or unsteady balance. It's not stroller friendly beyond the bath to the rocks, no sand here but it's absolutely a stunning view. Worth seeing

Calm and beautiful beach. Me and my friend were exploring the area, and we ended up taking a short break to Ella Beach. You have to park your car a 2 mins (walk) away from the beach. The waves were pleasant to watch, and overall, the place had a very calm vibe to it.

Sooke Harbour House Restaurant offers a clean and welcoming environment for a relaxing getaway. The beautiful rooms provide picturesque views of the harbor, along with amenities like jacuzzi tubs and strong wifi. Its proximity to East Sooke Park makes it an ideal base for hiking enthusiasts. Additionally, guests can enjoy freshly caught and expertly prepared seafood from the restaurant's fishing charters. The culinary team, led by Shawn M.
Visited for dinner and sat on the sky patio overlooking the entrance to the Sooke Harbour. One of the best views I have ever enjoyed on a beautiful night. Food and drinks were delicious and all the staff were very friendly. The whole place has been recently renovated and they have done a fantastic job. I don't think there is a bad view while sitting inside or out. After dinner went for a walk along Whiffin Spit Park which is just steps away. Watched the fisherman and the seals in the harbour. Highly recommend making the trip which isn't too far from Victoria. You won't be disappointed!

My Husband and I were married at the Original SHH (Under the Philip's ownership) 35 years ago. We have returned over the years, always beautiful experiences. We celebrated this year's Anniversary with Dinner. What a mistake! While the front end staff was friendly and attentive, there is obviously a very serious problem with the Kitchen. We waited too long for our appetizer, probably 45 minutes, but then our Entrees didn't arrive for at least another hour. Pretty plates BUT my husband's elk tartar was not fresh and was appetizer size at an entree price AND my gnocchi was cold and rubbery and inedible! We sent it back and the Manager offered me Steak Oscar which was at the table minutes later... So the Kitchen is capable of timely service! We were not the only ones complaining about the unreasonably long wait, at least wo other tables also waited over an hour. I wonder when the last time your Chef had to wait hours for his overpriced meal? The Sooke Harbour House obviously needs a new Chef, one who understands that his/her guests' time is precious. We will not come back!
Dawn C — Google review
I’ve been to the Sooke harbour house every few months since it re-opened and I am pleased to say that it has only gotten better since the new owners have taken over. It still has the creative west coast fusion menu but the execution and service has been greatly elevated. I have hope that this place makes its way back into the hearts of locals and visitors alike. Weston gave excellent service in the dining room, the kind you’d expect from fine dining prior to the pandemic! Highly recommend.

We had first stayed here in 2016, and returned in 2025--new management, total emodel, new chef, same outstanding quality. We got the epicurean package--two nights, two breakfasts, one five-course chef's menu dinner. The room was superb. It included a soaker tub plus the usual romenities (no microwave, though). They provide everything you might need--shaving kits, toothbrush and toothpaaste, makeup removers--all in the room, no need to ask at the front desk. The rooms all have a nice semi-private balcony overlooking the harbor, and I enjoyed sitting with my Nespresso-made coffee (firs t time I'd had Nespresso, so much better than Keurig). The food was superb. Breakfasts were wild mushroom benedicts the first day, in-house smoked salmon the second. Their mixologist delivers delightful craft cocktails, the first-course dinner was worthy of the best chefs, and I enjoyed a mid-afternoon snack of little wing Pacific oysters and a martini. Pricey, yes. But well worth it.

We loved our stay in Sooke Harbour House. The view was absolutely stunning and it looked like you were right on the ocean. The room was very modern and well laid out with every amenity possible and a view from every space including the shower! Every staff member that we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful. The view from the dining room and patio were unparalleled and the food was delicious and the staff were very accommodating in helping us to celebrate a birthday. The gardens are beautiful and there is a serene and private feeling to this property. Just steps from Whiffen Spit, which is a beautiful stretch of beach and walkway that juts out across the ocean. Highly recommend. Would definitely return.

Fist time dining at Sooke Harbour House and possibly the last. Took my mother there lunch on her 90th birthday. The place was empty. Not one car in the parking lot. We had a bad feeling. The place is beautifuly renovated. The service was good but the food was not. I expect better food for the price. Wanted a nice dessert but they had nothing to offer.

I don’t usually write reviews. But this evenings service and food was outstanding;, it couldn’t go without a review. Our server was Sam! She was charismatic, funny, attentive and so down to earth, loved her sense of humour :). Our appy of clams was the best we’ve had and the sable fish with fennel was amazing! The portions are a nice size. We did not have dessert, but will definitely go back an order one next time.

Nature & Parks
Ed Macgregor Park, situated in downtown Sooke, is a delightful and fully accessible oceanfront green space named after the town's first Mayor. The park features woodland walking trails, a 500-meter-long boardwalk leading to a public pier, and charming walled gardens. Visitors can enjoy stunning harbor views and observe wildlife such as otters and bald eagles. Although the park shows signs of aging, it remains an enjoyable destination with well-maintained pathways.
Great city park with a boardwalk trail down to the harbor with a very nice boardwalk pier. Harbor view was great and a clear view across the Juan de Fuca Strait to the Olympic Penninsula. Saw dozens of otters and a few bald eagles. Easy access from the main highway and mostly wheelchair accessible, there were a couple of steep declines. We thought we would just stop and spend a few minutes, and we ended up spending almost two hours. Well worth the stop.

Small park with a public bathroom and an amphitheatre. Unfortunately the bathroom was locked while I was there. There is also an interesting stone gate with a plaque explaining that it was once a part of an important hotel in Sooke. Interesting place.

Beautiful park and boardwalk. So many birds in the trees could be heard all around. Nice meandering wheelchair accessible path to the water. Nice stafe and amphitheater for live performances. Lots of beautiful trees as well.

Lovely walk down wooden staircase through a wooded area to the pier below, gorgeous views at the bottom, dog friendly, usually folks crabbing almost every visit. It's a favorite haunt on a Sunday afternoon (convenient parking just before the park entrance)

It’s a great place to take a walk through the woods and down to the piers. Wheelchair/power-chair accessible as well. Chill atmosphere, quiet, can people watch and take a breather near the fishermen… Very relaxing and beautiful to boot. It’s the quintessential Vancouver Island vibes here.

Quiet, well kept local park. It used to attract a transient crowd but I think this is now under control for the most part... Easy access with a parking lot located beside the entrance of the park on Sooke's West Coast Road(Highway 14)

I came here to visit as last stop with my family after leaving Sooke and heading back to Victoria, BC. It was pretty empty and quiet in the park. It is also very spacious with a good amount of seating. There is also a bathroom with art decorated on the outside. It seem like no much people come here often because there was an area by the stage that is suppose to be filled with water but it is empty. There is a zig zag trail in the back of the park and leads you to be surrounded by trees. When you reach the end of this trail you would be surrounded by water! There you can birdwatch for eagles and seagulls. The walk here was very relaxing and I love all the greenery. If you need a quiet walk in nature, this is the place to be! FYI, the parking is about a block ahead of the park. The parking lot was very empty when we arrived and the same when we left. So it will be easy coming by car.

It is the famousest site catching crabs in town centre. There is a long wooden plank road winding in the sea, except to see the scenery, constantly throwing down the crab clip, and then constantly retracting, to see if there is enough luck. Many funs and It's easy to kill an afternoon. The parking lot is not next to the park . Need to walk along the road for tens meters to get to the entrance of the park.

Perfect little cafe, garden, home, and gift shop with a spectacular view of the water. Right upstairs from the book store which is also A++. I got the bumblebee tea latte which is just delicious with honeybush as the main flavour. You can take your drink anywhere in the gift store and enjoy it along the treasures and with the view. We suggest they could add afternoon tea / high tea as a feature for Mother’s Day or something like that. Great job refurbishing this house and turning it into a local haven for small business.

We found this on Google maps, even though we have visited Sooke many times. It looked uninteresting from the street but first impressions were wrong. The interior of this former home is filled with interesting gift items and plants. The coffee (roasted by Creekside) was superior. Also the dark chocolate cake. The barista was BUSY as a group had arrived just ahead of us but she dealt with everyone pleasantly and efficiently. There is seating inside and out with blankets for the chill. We sat out to admire the nursery/garden setting. We hope that when we return the bookstore and nursery will be open.

A great cafe with amazing coffee and atmosphere. Just outside the back is a nice garden where you can buy flowers and other plants. There is a bookstore downstairs and small shop with ceramics and other cool stuff.
Keegan S — Google review
Lovely family owned shop. Really cute and affordable gifts. Nice house plants and outdoor garden plants. They offer almond and oat milk and make hot drinks! What more could you want? Edit: I wanted to add to my previous review because it doesn’t do justice. I come here often enough! The staff and owners are so kind and knowledgeable. It’s a desirable social outing as you can chat with them about flowers and gardening for quite some time and leave with more tips and tricks! I love the local bouquets and have bought a few so far this year. They have a hefty amount of vegan (and some gf) treats now! They also have a gorgeous patio sheltered from the sun and rain that overlooks the mountains. Cute + quaint latté date spot. I am loving the extension upstairs, very well done. Thanks for bringing such a wholesome experience to garden culture here in Sooke 🙏

A wonderful little bakery and cafe we happened upon while exploring the coast! The food and pastries were delicious, the patio was warm and lovely as were the ladies working there! Highly recommend this wonderful little place!

A wonderful little bakery to relax at with pastries and wonderful breakfasts. I quite enjoyed our little stop here . Will definitely try to go back here.

Super cute place. Delicious baked goods. Wonderful courtyard with fountain to sit and enjoy. The lovely staff was so kind and accommodating and made us feel so so so welcomed. Definitely stop in when you're in Sooke!!

Attaching a photo of our EMPTY plates, the food was that good. Travelling with a few ‘selective’ eaters and we didn’t leave a crumb behind. Turkey and Brie sandwich, eggs and toast and bacon, fresh bread, veggie chilli, hot chocolates and lattes and chais, fresh raspberry jam, all amazing. Food tasted very fresh and homemade in a wonderful way. Would 100% visit again. Garden patio is delightful, super friendly service, easy parking, very reasonable prices. Thank you!
Catharine S — Google review
This was a lucky find, the food was excellent, the baking is at the top of it game, the service was friendly and speedy, and the outside area in the right weather was stunning. We were disappointed that we had to leave early on our last day and missed one final chance to visit for a cinnamon schneke, or a lemon Copenhagen, and maybe pick up a few bakewell tarts for later. The cakes aside they do other freshly made sandwiches and a very good coffee. To be honest they were better than other competitors in the area.

Great pastries, sandwiches and coffee 😋 Super friendly staff members even to our dog 🐾 Plus their outdoor patio area is quite charming 🌸🌻 5/5 recommend, you won't be disappointed at this place ✨

When i called and asked if I could have sandwiches made to order i was told, yes. But apparently When I arrived made to order the way they make them with only 2 selections of bread choices. Sourdough or chibata bun. And the meat selection was limited. I guess I'm to use to actual deli's that give you a proper selection of breads, meat, cheeses, pickles etc. I think they need to teach there staff what sandwiches made to order means.

Everyone was beyond friendly! We were treated so well, enjoyed 3 wonderful & HEALTHY desserts, paired perfectly with a natural honey lavender latte. Big thanks to Wendy for her exemplary energy and the entire staff for their care & quality. Will definitely be back every time I cross Sooke.

Sooke Marine Boardwalk

4.8
(13)
Hiking area
The Marine Boardwalk at Ed McGregor Park offers a picturesque stroll through a coastal rainforest, leading to the impressive 300-meter pier at Sooke. Along the wooden boardwalk, visitors can observe locals fishing for crabs and catch glimpses of harbor seals while taking in breathtaking views of the Sooke Basin and Olympic Mountains. The trail is fairly level with no steps and gently slopes towards the pier, making it accessible for most visitors.
Beautiful and very accessible trail to the boardwalk on the waterfront. Loved that they added little posters with indigenous art with some info about habitants of the bay. Nice place to relax.

June 19,2024 18°C To access the Marine Boardwalk in Sooke, there are multiple entry points. You can check Google Maps for directions. We parked at the cul-de-sac after taking Horne Rd from Murray Road, as we didn't find parking along Sooke Rd (highway 14). Once parked, walk across the lawn at Murray Park to reach the boardwalk. It's an easy stroll. The boardwalk is a zig-zag path through lush vegetation. Kid-friendly Enjoy!
Tom B — Google review
The Marine Boardwalk begins behind Ed MacGregor Park. It is a fairly level trail with no steps and has a gradually desending slope to the peir. You can make a loop back to the parking lot, however the exit is quite steep. My suggestion is to turn around and go back the way you came in. Great spot to throw in a crab trap. Just remember to buy a permit and throw back females and small crabs. Nice and peaceful!
Lisa F — Google review
Beautiful views! Nice easy trail with a gentle slope down the hill, and you can put out crab traps too.

Wild Mountain is a family-owned farm-to-table restaurant that offers a casual and cozy dining experience with a variety of coastal-inspired dishes and drinks. The menu features locally sourced and seasonal produce, including vegan options like the delicious risotto. The restaurant prides itself on exceptional service, knowledgeable and friendly staff, outstanding views, and a charming interior. Guests can enjoy wood-fired pizza made with super fresh local ingredients while savoring the warm hospitality of the staff.
Fantastic place to eat with wonderful food! I love everything they stand for with local ingredients, high quality, and teamwork! Any tip you give is shared equally among all the staff and it encourages everyone to work together to create a wonderful experience. I will definitely be back there again! I loved the fact that it was a great place for a nice date night out, a regular dinner, or a fun pizza picnic with family.

We didn’t have a reservation so arrived at 5 for the best chance at getting a table - we had first dibs on the patio, which was perfect. We started out with the albacore tuna crudo, which was beautifully presented and a nice and fresh one bite snack. Next, we shared the small charcuterie board, which featured bresaola, capicola, smoked pork and apricot terrine, duck liver mousse with a plum mostarda, Salt Spring Island Romelia cheese, pickles and sourdough crostini. Everything complimented each other nicely. As entrees, we had the pappardelle (housemade duck confit, hakurei turnips and spinach, leeks, fennel, basil cream sauce) and the wild westcoast lingcod (wild spot prawn broth with Umi Nami Farm vegetables - hakurei turnips & tops, napa cabbage, komatsuna, kohlrabi and daikon, leek oil). We loved how all the ingredients were so fresh and locally grown or sourced. To finish it off, we had the pavlova. The meringue had the perfect marshmallowy texture and was so light and airy, while the lemon curd, berries and whipped cream made every bite heavenly! Service was amazing. Our server Taylor was great - very friendly and genuine. We’d definitely come back on our next trip to Sooke!

Farm to table restaurant that highlights unique ingredients with vegetables being standout. We most enjoyed the cowichan beef tartare, housemade wild nettle pappardelle, rye berry and oat risotto, the duck breast, and wood fired wild mushroom pizza. I think we were most disappointed by the wild mountain sourdough bread, as we found it to be a bit dry, tough and served cold as well. Overall, we really enjoyed how these ingredients were highlighted in creative ways and would recommend checking out this restaurant!

Gorgeous spot on the water with a wonderful selection. You can sit inside or on one of the pretty patios. I had the pepperoni pizza and affagato which was so delicious. Hubby had appetizers and cod. Can't wait to come back again on our next trip to the island.

An unpretentious place with a unique gourmet proposal that was excellent. The Risotto and the Rockfish were amazing and different from what we have tried elsewhere. It seems that their pizza must be pretty good as it brings them a younger crowd. Very good restaurant!

Nice spot to look at the water and enjoy some tasty morsels. We went for happy hour drinks and bites after some beach time. Portions were small but with fresh ingredients. Service was great!

Pizza restaurant
Italian restaurant
Pizzability is a cozy spot that serves up unique and delicious pizzas made with love. The Hawaiian pizza is flavorful with a nice crust, while the lasagna is described as meaty and full of flavor. The chicken fettuccine could use more sauce but the baked cheese was unnecessary. The pizzas are home-style, not too oily or thin, and come with fresh ingredients.
Photos speak for themselves, also the one slice I ate outta the pizza had no green peppers or tzatziki sauce, so it was kinda like I almost got three different types lol! Tasty none the less!! Also the rice was a bit crunchy as it was the bottoms, but the amount of chicken in the sauce made up for it. Such a yummy place and I love their unique pizzas made with love. 👍✨
C K — Google review
This was the worst fettuccine Alfredo and pizza I’ve ever had!! First of all the fettuccine Alfredo tasted like plain noodles with a melted lump of cheese on it, it had no creamy cheese sauce! The pizza was not all that warm, had too much tomato sauce on it and was gross lump of cheese on top! This was my second time ordering from here and the first time was decent but after this poor quality and the price I paid for it, I’ll be ordering elsewhere from now on!
Kalie N — Google review
I was blown away! The pizza was the best I’ve ever had—perfectly crispy crust. They also offered us a fantastic deal that’s hard to beat. On top of that, the customer service was exceptional. Friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere made the whole experience top-notch. Highly recommend! 10/10 from me
Arason A — Google review
I won't lie, the pizza was soild. Chewy dough, classic tasting sauce, average amount of toppings. The overall customer service experience was lacking, and even worse, their website menu says they are offering many dishes that they aren't. Update your website, so you can improve your customer expectations and service.
Kari H — Google review
Got pizza here for the first time and was not disappointed. Ordered for pick-up over the phone for a custom-build and was able to grab it in 15 minutes. Friendly customer service. The pizza tasted phenomenal, great crust and sauce. 10/10 would highly recommend ordering pizza from Pizzability when visiting Sooke!
Carlos E — Google review
Don't bother ordering from here. The pick up time is completely meaningless. 2 small pizzas were said to take 45 minutes, ended up taking more than 1.5 hours. The cheese pizza had no sauce and the dough was not cooked in the middle. Pizza was barely warm. Staff were disorganized and did not care about the extra wait.
Carly W — Google review
Pizzas are amazing. They keep them warm in delivery bags so when you pick them up they are still hot.
David S — Google review
What happened to this place. It used to have good pizza but now there's no flavor it's dry mealy and costs way too much. Plus strange service or lack of.
