The Soo Locks is an impressive engineering marvel that allows ships of various sizes to traverse between Lake Superior and Lake Huron. Dating back to the mid-1800s, these gravity-fed locks lift and lower 1,000-foot freighters as well as smaller vessels over a 21-foot drop. Visitors can observe this slow-motion action from a covered observation platform and explore the area's maritime history at the Visitors Center.
Our first experience going through locks. The crew was so informative. I had no idea there were so many locks in the US even after seeing the Panama Canal earlier this year. This is smaller scale but equally vital to commerce and industry. Our Captain took us up the Canada side and back (down) on the US side. We'll visit again and do this tour again.
Fred P — Google review
This was a great experience. The park does not allow any weapons! Leave your pocket knives in the car. Public restroom. The locks are very interesting. My family and 2 other families traveling had a great time. The ice-cream right across the street is amazing and very affordable. Walking strawberries are great but expensive.
Jeremy T — Google review
This may be one of the coolest things Ice seen. Its just amazing watching the big ships move through the lock. There's a a nice viewing platform. A lovely park. And the visitor center is very interesting. Definitely want to come back, 2 hours just isn't enough to enjoy the area and I want to take the boat tour.
Cecily B — Google review
Fascinating experience. You float through a lock upstream, rising 22', tour the St Mary's River a bit, and then head back through a Canadian lock. No passport required. We rode on the Original Soo Locks Boat Tours. Well worth the price!
Scott H — Google review
The Soo Locks are a set of parallel locks, operated and maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and they enable ships to travel between Lake Superior and the lower Great Lakes. The locks are located on the St. Marys River between Lake Superior and Lake Huron, between the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan and the Canadian province of Ontario. They bypass the rapids of the river, where the water falls 21 ft (6.4 m). The locks pass an average of 10,000 ships per year. The Soo Locks has a nice visitor center, which provides historical information, as well as current workload and performance statistics. It's well worth spending 25 minutes visiting all the exhibits. A three-level observation deck allows visitors a close-up of the locks in operation.
Howard S — Google review
Was a amazing experience, we got there on a busy day and loved seeing so many ships come thru and 3 - 1000 footers in one day. Waiting to see when the 3rd lock gets done. Definitely will be going back once it's done.
Will M — Google review
Beautiful marvel of engineering. Great seeing the boats go through, up close, really makes you appreciate their size and cargo tonnage. Definitely worth a stop to check out!
Josh C — Google review
Definitely worth the trip. Watched three boats go through on a rainy afternoon. The viewing platform (under roof) is awesome and the historical visitor’s center has great info and visuals to view. Staff was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and engaging.

The Soo Locks Visitor Center is a must-visit destination for witnessing the impressive sight of massive freighter ships navigating through the locks. The center offers an observation deck with two levels, providing unobstructed views of the MacArthur Lock in operation. Inside, visitors can explore informative displays detailing the history and significance of this vital shipping canal. Additionally, there are platforms offering close-up views of ships passing through the locks.
What a great day! A beautiful park surrounding the Visitors’ Center. You can go in the observation deck, have a picnic and look at the models and watch a freighter go through the locks. There are public restrooms. Metered parking out front.
Rita L — Google review
I’m only giving it 4 stars because I couldn’t bring my dog to the viewing platform otherwise it’s a great experience, haven’t been here since I was 7-8 and my mom was still alive. Found a killer food truck, Motown Nate’s, only a few miles from the visitor center, the brisket tacos and brisket mac and cheese were amazing but look at those fries, huge hand cut fries, they were so good. I highly recommend Motown Nate’s in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan.
Chris L — Google review
Always a fun experience to watch a ship (Joseph L Block, in our case) pass through the locks. Better views the higher you go on the deck. Visitor's Center is always clean and fun to see the pictures and history of the area.
Steven L — Google review
Check out the displays inside then head observation decks. The announce ships arrivals or you can use an app. We saw the tourists boats and a 1000 footer go through the locks. Bring change for the parking meters.
Rebel C — Google review
Amazing place to visit! It’s mesmerizing to see how the locks work. The Visitor Center has schedule that you can check when ships will be coming through the lock, so you can coordinate your time to watch it. The whole process for a large ship is about 40 mins, and you can watch from the stand.
Norapat P — Google review
An engineering marvel that allows the huge ships to easily go from lakes Michigan and Huron to Lake Superior! We got to see a 1000 ft ore carrier going through the locks while we toured! The app “MarineTraffic -Ship tracking “ shows you where the ships are located nearby as well as there destinations!
Terry K — Google review
We looked in line for hours thinking it was open, and the website stated it was. The only thing open was the viewing center. The center itself was close for the season. A little disappointing but all in all still fun to see the locks. We didn't see any ships but still very interesting.

The Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours have been a beloved attraction for many years, offering a unique and entertaining experience. During the 90-minute tour, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the Soo Locks and the St. Marys River waterfront. It's recommended to bring a jacket for cooler temperatures and sunscreen for sun protection if sitting on the top deck during mid-summer tours.
The Famous Soo Locks Boat Tour is an unforgettable experience! Cruising through the locks and watching the water levels rise and fall up close is simply fascinating. The live commentary on board was informative and engaging — we learned so much about the history, engineering, and significance of the locks while enjoying the beautiful views along the way. The reception area is quite spacious, with a convenient ticket window and a fairly big gift shop where you can pick up some nice souvenirs. The boat was comfortable, the staff was friendly, and everything was smooth and well-organized. Perfect for families, history lovers, or anyone looking for a unique experience in Sault Ste. Marie. Highly recommended!

We really enjoyed our tour through the locks during Engineers Day. There is seating inside on the lower level or outside on the upper level. It was raining during most of our tour but we still enjoyed the trip. The tour lasted just over an hour and a half which sounds long but really isn't. There are bathrooms downstairs and a snack bar with drinks available. We went through the MacArthur Lock on the way upstream and came back through the Canadian Lock. The hosts are very knowledgeable and provided a lot of information during the tour. The only downside is that with the rain the seats get wet and the stairs can be slippery. That's no fault of the tour company though!
Mr. K — Google review
The locks tour was great. Very informative and interesting. You could walk around on the boat and look at the views all around. They had nice snacks and drinks available for purchase. Very relaxing and enjoyable.

We did the Haunted riverboat cruise for the second time and we loved it!! So full of history and information! This second time was a Halloween costume party, so it added some extra fun to the whole experience. My boyfriend has lived in the Soo for most of his life and even he learned things about the area he never knew - and the fact they were spooky things makes it even better.

We took the last tour of the day, th weather was a bit cool and overcast which for us just added to the feeling of the Great Lakes. The guide was friendly and very informative. The whole experience was wonderful, definitely was worth it!

The Museum Ship Valley Camp offers a unique experience to explore the life of a Great Lakes freighter in the early 20th century. The ship features over 100 exhibits, including an Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial with original lifeboats. Visitors can also explore crew quarters and view aquariums with large tanks. The preserved ship now serves as a museum and aquarium, offering an educational experience for all ages. With its rich history and extensive exhibits, the Valley Camp provides insight into maritime life on the Great Lakes.
The museum is packed with historical displays, and the ship itself is also very impressive and was a great opportunity to tour it. We were very limited on time, and wished we could have stayed longer. If you really want to see all there is to see on the ship, you probably need to plan to be there for around 3 hours. It looked like there was a guided tour option too as we saw a large group with a tour guide. We had a great time rushing around the ship trying to see as much of it as we could in the time we had!! I would go back another time.
Larissa G — Google review
cool experience, wish you could explore more of the ship. as someone with curiosity about so many things would love to see more of the engine room. also would be nice if there was guides to answer questions etc. all in all a cool experience though lot s of great artifacts, such as the edmund fitzgerald life boats.
Jacob M — Google review
What’s not to like about a museum in a ship. It’s loaded with displays, and historical artifacts, including life boats from the Edmond Fitzgerald. You can walk top side and see all the crew quarters and the helm. The Valley Camp’s length is 550 feet. Some freighters are 1000 ft today. Check out the very bottom to see the floor that warped from all the tons of cargo it carried. The museum has a lot of information about Great Lakes ships.
Rebel C — Google review
This was a fun visit for the whole family and it had ramps to most places for folks who can't do stairs. Loaded with history of shipping and the coast guard around the great lakes while at the same time touring an actual barge!
Sheila Y — Google review
I was in awe to be able to walk through an entire ship on all three levels. There is a large collection of maritime artifacts! My favorite was a lifeboat from the Edmund Fitzgerald. It gives you an eerie and somber feeling to not only touch the boat, but to see the metal of the lifeboat torn from the rough storm that claimed the ship and crew. The top deck is a bit scary if you are afraid of heights, but it is worth braving. The crew quarters are located up there and it was very interesting to see how and where a crewmen lives while aboard the ship.
Michelle A — Google review
We got the adventure pass which is the tour of the ship, the tower, and boat tour. Let me tell you. You need to carve out a day to do this. I am from port huron and we live in iron mountain area. We have never been to the Su so it was both our first time. Growing up on the lake you would see the Ore boats and wonder what it was like to be inside. This gave us the opportunity to see. It took about 2 hours to explore fully and the great thing is if you want to you could go as many times as you wanted that day as it is a day pass into the ship. Not only do you get to see artifacts, paintings, and the ship in person but you get to explore on your own terms and pace. Every room and space is utilized with exhibits and staff was friendly. Everyone was respectful in not touching anything. Some areas have leaks so puddles can be seen. They repaired the very top so it is slippery when walking on but it was worth it. To be that high up and to see the captains quarters. The entire experience was really cool. At times it was a little hard to breathe for me because I have asthma but let me tell you it was worth it. Wonderful experience.

Sault Ste. Marie Canal National Historic Site is a remarkable destination that showcases the ingenuity of 19th-century engineering. Established in 1895, this historic canal was once the world's longest lock and the first to utilize electricity, serving as a crucial passage for vessels navigating between Lake Superior and Lake Huron while avoiding the treacherous St. Marys Rapids. Visitors can explore its fascinating history through guided tours, stroll along scenic trails, or rent bikes to enjoy the picturesque surroundings.
Totally enjoyable afternoon- with such a beautiful park that brings so much history. There is a grassy area to relax and it offers picnic tables. We walked over the bridge and enjoyed the trails. Then went to the end of the road to see the emergency swing bridge. So glad we stopped in for a quick afternoon walk. Definitely planning more time next time.

We took the Famous boat tours boat 🚢 with the adventure pass. It was a beautiful day with friendly staff. Super informative. What a beautiful lady she is. You could tell she loves her job and she was funny. Nice fresh breath of air. They offered snacks and drinks. Got to learn about the locks, the soo, and the Canadian side of the locks. On our way back there was a boat bobbing in the water. They have a no one gets left behind code and without hesitation went to see if they were in need of help. Everything was okay but turns out the boat was not starting. They immediately dispatched help. Wonderful group of people ❤️

Visiting this historic canal was an unforgettable experience. The combination of natural beauty and rich history makes it a true Canadian treasure. Walking along the canal, you really get a sense of its importance in shaping the country’s past, while also enjoying stunning views and peaceful surroundings. The pathways are well maintained, perfect for walking or biking, and there are plenty of spots to stop, take in the scenery, and learn about its heritage. It’s both relaxing and educational—a must-visit for anyone who loves history, culture, and the outdoors.

The visitor center has plenty of interesting exhibits that explain the rich history of the canal, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. It’s a perfect spot to spend a relaxing afternoon — whether you’re interested in ships, history, or just looking for scenic views. A must-visit if you’re in the area!

I Love ❤️❤️❤️ going for walks, it's so Beautiful The Chickadees are very friendly and it's amazing to see my Daughters eyes when a bird lands in mommy and Daddies hand . Then there's a certain place we call chipmunk 🐿️🐿️ land There also very friendly and have a sense of awareness that they're safe. People that always always make sure they go and feed. I know. I believe there's a rule but it's helped. So many people get through a hard day at the end of the day. It's a great place just to go and have a great walk. If you are someone who likes fishing, there's some really good spots, I am hoping to find more pictures to post of the chickadees and Chipmunks eating or get out of hand. They're little feet touching. Your hand is very unique. 😍😍😍

Despite being a former shadow of itself, Cambrian Mall remains a decent destination due to its prime location. The mall's desolation, with numerous empty spaces outnumbering tenants, is more indicative of the current times rather than the mall's inherent faults. However, the remaining establishments are still great and the food court offers satisfactory options. Hopefully, this once magnificent place can regain its former glory as it boasts an attractive appearance and favorable positioning.
I bought the Birch sausage mix Birch water is a health benefit it is absolutely wonderful. The sausage was very tasty clean beautiful cut of meat they work at the meet they make a great sausage. The next time I'm going to make sure there's more room in my cooler so I can take more flavors back. Live meat sausages myself for 30 years. And they are very good quality sausage. If you're in the neighborhood you should try it you will not be sorry.

I used to love this mall growing up in the 90’s but recently it’s become a ghost town. The food area only has a coffee shop now. Nothing else. Canadian Tire and Shoppers Drugmart are the only things keeping this place from shutting down. Sadly the Sault is a dying town that doesn’t need two larger shopping centres anymore.
Joseph M — Google review
I’ll be honest—this mall is a shadow of what it used to be from what I've heard. It often feels abandoned, with more closed storefronts than open ones. The main reason it still sees any foot traffic is thanks to the nearby Canadian Tire, a few banks, Dollar Tree, and Shoppers Drug Mart. The atmosphere is eerily quiet. There is a singular coffee shop in the cafeteria and the public washrooms unfortunately tend to attract some troubling situations being near an exit—I once had to call an ambulance for someone in distress (drug use suspected). Do try to avoid them. That said, I truly believe this place has potential. As a younger person growing up in the Soo, it's clear the city needs more spaces and activities for the youth, rather than remaining so retirement-focused. This building could absolutely become a hub for younger generations if given the right attention and investment. I’d love to see more stores, attractions, and community events bring life back to this space. I wouldn’t say to avoid this mall—if anything, stop by to support the businesses that are still holding on. This mall holds a lot of history, for many who grew up here. It still carries some sentimental value from what I hear. It may just be a quick pit stop now, but it has the potential to become much more. If you're in the area just think about it:)
Kiiana C — Google review

Tim Hortons is a Canadian chain known for its premium-blend coffee, light fare, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches. Visitors have praised the engaging staff and the quality of their coffee and sandwiches. Many travelers have found Tim Hortons to be a reliable option across various states and provinces in Canada, providing convenience to both the traveling public and working individuals. Some specific locations are highlighted for consistently getting orders right and serving great-tasting coffee.
Went there before work for a coffee and farmers wrap, and when I opened it up, there was MELTED PLASTIC IN MY WRAP. That’s beyond disgusting and the guy you had working the drive thru window was unpleasant. Didn’t say a word to me and kept talking to his friend.

Closest Timmies to where I live and I'm often stopping in to pick up a coffee and snack before work, but almost every time after ordering my food they pull me up to the window only to tell me they actually don't have either the scrambled eggs prepared or they don't have the item I order available. After the 5th time of this happening I figured it deserved a review.

I hate leaving reviews, but this place is the worst in the evenings. This is not the first time I've gone there around 6pm (after dinner when you want dessert) and they're out of stuff. Today they were out of EVERY baked good. Watched the girl make my extra lrg dark roast out of three different pots and still wasn't enough to fill the cup. Steep tea was cold, asked for another and they didn't have anymore brewed. This being said, the morning staff, Monday to Friday are great!

This Tim's honestly sucks so much HOLY, First of all I have to come here every morning cause it's the closest to me before I go to work Second of all every time I come in at around 5:45am there's 4 people working at the drive thru and noone taking orders at the register when I walk in I have to wait at least 10 mins for someone to take my order Third of all there's always something missing at this tims whether I want food or merchandise they always say oh no we don't have that Fourth of all there's an issue with payment most of the time they either don't take card cause they're machine is down or it's cash only.... Fifth of all the foods always wrong.. I asked for a bagel toasted with butter guy didn't even toast it grabbed a bagel slapped butter on it and off I go they don't even cut it in half... What the hell is going on at this tims..
Andy P — Google review
I visited this location just 10 minutes ago, and they are currently out of steak and turkey sandwiches, which is quite disappointing. I guess there was one Indian girl who looked like their in charge from her behavior, she was so rude, not only with me but with other customers as well. I got to know from my colleague that she used to refuse to sell food to them many times. This is not the first time with me, that's why I decided to write a review.
EMILIE P — Google review
I added a few stars since they got the new renovation so theyve improved on that aspect, during the day the customer service is okayish, some ladies were friendly... But don't get me started on nights.. I usually pick up a coffee every shift before nights and the one girl working there is awful at everything she does, customer service, English, getting orders right, giving a refund, everything.. Ive called Tim Hortons and complained to day staff, they apologize but yet it keeps happening with the same girl. I talked to an employee who used to work at this location and she claims that the workers couldn't stand her. I'm absolutely baffled she still works there. Save your money and go next door to McDonald's for coffee or tea, better customer service and better quality. And they won't gatekeep the spoons. Sincerely, a Canadian who misses the old Tim Hortons.

We had a great meal at the Lockview. We weren’t given the option to sit upstairs, but if given the option, I would recommend it as it’s a bit more updated, nicer atmosphere and better view. Neither level have that great of a view of the ships / locks…. Views are fairly obstructed. But the food and service was good, and I would recommend it. Fresh fish caught locally.

10/10 for vegetarians, despite the extensive fish menu. I was hesitant but was pleasantly surprised. The baked potato: I was able to have it loaded with mushrooms! The rice was great, but soft. I don’t mind that. The “today’s vegetables” were terrific! Honestly so good. The service and staff and kind. Everyone’s meals on the menu were on point and on time. Would go again in a heartbeat

I was very excited about this place because I love seafood. The first time we went the wait was too long, about an hour, that we had to return next day. We waited for about 15 minutes to get seated. The food was bland. I got whitefish and my husband steak. The atmosphere wasn't anything special. Waiters were OK. I was expecting a little more. The location is perfect on the main street in town.

My girlfriend and I were starving when we got back from an afternoon in the Canadian Soo, and while looking up local eateries that were open on Labor Day, we came upon Lockview Restaurant. Once we saw they had pasties on their menu, we were sold! The pasties were delicious with gravy, and the onion rings were beyond amazing! The interior decor was wonderful with all the nautical themes, and the view of the ships passing through the locks was definitely the cherry on top! We'll definitely be back!

They did a great job. The view was fantastic, right next to the locks, you can’t beat the location. My salad, soup, and crab-stuffed shrimp were all really good. Melissa, our server, was friendly and did a fantastic job. For a small town, this place is a real gem.

Recently stopped here with my wife for dinner. We were on our 30th Anniversary road trip. The food & atmosphere were amazing!! Great service with an amazing view of the Soo Locks. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in town or traveling through. We will definitely be back. Thank you for an amazing experience!!

Really like this place. Fresh fish caught by locals, can't get better than that. Friendly and attentive wait staff. Atmosphere is nice especially sitting upstairs watching ships go thru the locks. Only negative is the table and chairs setup - my mother had the same set in 1960.

Off season so not crowded at all. Fish done 6 ways. An absolute must try is the whitefish chowder. Our server was delightful and efficient. The kitchen was fast as well.

Burger Don is a lively spot offering a variety of house and build-your-own burgers, Mexican dishes, hot dogs, and poutine along with craft beer. One of their standout items is the two-burger stack featuring sharp cheddar and maple-glazed bacon sandwiched between grilled honey-dripped doughnuts. Visitors praise the friendly staff, quick service, and exceptional food quality. The homemade patties are juicy while the buns add just the right amount of structure to the burgers.
Food presentation is great and so is the flavor! The staff are friendly and completes for an enjoyable dine out experience. I enjoyed the doughnut burger with a Cesar salad, a beer and deep fried ice cream for dessert!

We ate a late lunch at The Burger Don. We were immediately seated. They were short staffed, but Nathan still did a great job! Food was quick, hot, and delicious! We will be back for sure!

Great food! We found The Burger Don through a quick Google search after our Agawa Canyon Train Tour. It was a Saturday evening so they were quite busy but we were seated after a 20-30 minute wait. The food was definitely worth the wait! Our waiter was very kind and enthusiastic. The burgers were amazing but I really loved the onion rings! Our food came quite quickly upon ordering so that was great as well.

Best burger joint in town! It's the only stop my family and I make a point of hitting every time we pass through the Sault. Nice dine in area and they make practically everything in-house, and have unique takes on classic dishes. Well done and well run

I had to bring my husband to try their delicious burgers and sides. Honestly, this place has the best burger I've ever had. The service is always great too... Tori was our server today, and she was awesome!

Had a great Don burger! The last time I went, years ago, it was not the best food for anyone in our whole group but it was phenomenal yesterday!!! I can't seem to add another review from June 19 but we had Sam as our server and she was awesome. She made the best Caesar I've ever had!!! Another awesome lunch Dec 28!

Had to wait about 45 minutes since it was a Friday night. Order the hangover burger and beef tacos. The burger was one of the best I ever eaten. The fried egg went perfectly with the rest of the burger. The bun was also excellent. Upgraded to the onion rings but they were not piping hot. The beef in the tacos had a lot of flavor. Fries were excellent too.

Restaurant
The Boiler Room, a new addition to Sault Ste Marie's dining scene, offers delicious wood-fired pizzas made with care and cooked in a separate oven. Located in the historic St. Marys paper mill within the Machine Shop, this pub serves personal-sized pizzas that are both classic and contemporary. The menu also features vegetarian options for those looking for meat-free alternatives.
The food was so good. Had nachos and pizza 🍕 both came out of fire pizza oven. Amazing. Plus they had 4 projectors and a couple TVs. The staff were friendly and had us laughing. If I lived in the sault I would definitely go here often.
Jimmy M — Google review
Hadn’t been to the boiler room since it opened. We were craving pizza after a full day of golf so we figured why not try it out ? I will say I had some hesitations going into it. The sault is known for its Italian food & quality. This includes pizza. It’s hard to want to go to a non Italian joint for Italian food. This is a note of caution. the night we went they seemed to be short staffed with only one server and a pretty busy restaurant. It took a bit for us to be seated (no wait in front of us). The menu has some decent options but it’s not massive by any means. We started with the deep fried cheese curds. These were and still are the winner. Something about the breading seasoning and their marinara just took it home for us. Perfect crunch, perfect coating. Highly recommend. My partner got the calzone, I got a margarita pizza. My partner didn’t mind his meal but he didn’t LOVE it. The portion was massive (not a bad thing) but the amount of cheese inside was sickening. He needed to pull cheese out with the fork because it was hard to get through. It also seemed a lot larger than a twelve inch pizza made into a calzone. My pizza? It was decent. The flavours were consistent with margherita pizzas I’ve had in the past. What I didn’t like was how thin the crust was. I like a bit more meat on the bone, if you will. The burnt pieces and the wood fires was tasty though I will say. The environment. Is cool. Unique. In the old boiler room of the pulp mill (hence the name). It’s a pretty small place though so I can see it being busy and hectic. The server was super kind, despite not being able to be as present due to the workload. Honestly? Not the place for to-die-for pizza in the Sault. Not the worst, but this wouldn’t be where I see myself heading in the future for pizza.
Vikki P — Google review
We loved the pizza, nachos and especially the prime rib melt! We loved the iced tea as well! The wings was just ok but not to our liking. A bit tough (not juicy) and not too flavorful. Service was good! Place was nice and spacious
Belle O — Google review
It’s a great restaurant for large groups! I love that it’s in such a historic building and the overall atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming. I especially appreciated the waiter and it improve our dining experience! One thing that I would warn you is to go with an empty stomach because they don’t mess around with portions. The 18” pizzas really are 18” and we had trouble finishing one large (18”) and one regular (12”) between three adults. We also got the fried cheese curds with delicious marinara sauce but I don’t think it made too much of a difference. I’m not complaining but just setting expectations. It was overall a great experience and would come back again for other pizzas!
Scott L — Google review
Nice and clean. Wasn't busy when we arrived. Got to choose where we wanted to sit. Not a big restaurant so can't imagine going on a busy day. Only ordered the pizza and it was great. We only saw two pizza sizes. The small is the size of a plate. The large is 8 what we call in the US, New York size slices. More than plenty for two people maybe even 3.
Michael I — Google review
Good atmosphere, friendly people but the food didn't seem to be their strong suit. A prime rib sandwich that looked like M&M steak shavings, horribly dry, au jus that had less flavour than water and to top it off, it was quite a long wait - 2 hour lunch, can't go back there. The waitress was literally bringing stuff out, one dish at a time - 4 trips, just to bring my food because she didn't believe in platters (drink, meal, au jus dish and gravy bowl - she needed FOUR trips for that).
Mark O — Google review
If I could give a rating lower than one, I would. Server was polite but incompetent- only visited the table maybe 4 times from the start of our visit and wasn’t able to split appetizers on the bills. The food was disappointing and flavourless, how can you burn a pizza crust while not even melting the cheese, and was horrible quality for the price. The restaurant was less than half full when we got there, but it was so loud you couldn’t have a conversation with your own table. Kids running around and screaming while banging on the windows. Multiple huge televisions blaring. Staff dragging and rearranging tables and chairs. The best part of the visit was getting to leave.

My friend and I were in town for the weekend with a sports team and had heard great things about The Boiler Room. It was about a 45 min walk from where we were staying but it was beyond worth it. We were seated at the bar which was super neat getting to watch the pizzas being made right in front of us! Our server Sami was wonderful, she was super friendly and helped make our experience so amazing. We had pizzas which were phenomenal and had not only our server check in on us but also 2 of the chefs asked us how our meals were. Overall it was a 10/10 for us!

The Mill Steakhouse and Wine Bar is a trendy restaurant located in the Soo, housed in converted St. Marys Paper Mill buildings. The menu offers more than just steaks, with tantalizing options like Maple Fennel Lamb Sirloin and Almond Crusted Salmon. The portions are hearty, starting with a salad and cornbread before moving on to juicy prime rib or other delicious entrees.
Fantastic Valentines evening. We had reservations for 6 people, 4 checked out. They accommodated 2 of us. Ended up with a marvellous evening chatting with other couples. Best restaurant in the Soo

We had a wonderful experience at Mill Steakhouse. There are not many good options available in the area and we are so glad we stumbled upon this gem!! The portions are huge and the food just top notch. The steak was cooked to perfection and the pasta was delicious too. The service was excellent and we would surely go there again whenever in the area. It was my birthday and they made it very special.

Loved the fixtures, ambience, the bar and the overall setup. High end place for sure. You get what you pay for! The 16 oz steak dinner I had was a lot of food. But so very flavourful and I enjoyed every bit of it. LOVE LOVE LOVE

Our first time at The Mill Steakhouse and I must say that it was absolutely amazing! One of the best meals we have ever had at a restaurant. Our waitress Michelle was very personable and helpful. The food was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing! Photos do not do it justice - the portion sizes were incredible and definitely worth the experience. 100% recommend stopping in at The Mill Steakhouse! 🙌

Good wine, good soup (bit too salty) but the prime dish; the ribs and wings were dry and flavorless. Too bad because it tainted an otherwise fine experience. Upon coming home one of us became sick because of the food. Hopefully, a one time thing

Nice surroundings and friendly staff. I booked a reservation online which asked if we where celebrating anything. It was my husband's 70th birthday. Staff was aware of this and after dinner, as is normal, they asked if we wanted dessert. Both of us said no. The potions where quite large and we didn't even finish our dinner. We asked to take the leftovers home. When they brought to bag to put them in they gave it to my husband. They put a piece of their wonderful carrot cake in there for him to take home. Very nice gesture.

This fairly new restaurant to the Soo, captured the steep local history by converting a few of St. Mary’s Paper Mill buildings into a few trendy restaurants which are interconnected with each other. When coming here to dine, bring your appetite as the portions are hearty. The meals started with a salad and yummy corn bread. Each of the meals served were enjoyed by all. My prime rib was juicy and tasty - just like how my mom used to cook it! Then we finished our delicious meal with some dessert. Yes, we went home with some food. :) Service was very good!!

Additionally, the location offers access to the Station Mall with numerous stores and entertainment options.
We stayed here September 27th Very clean rooms and awesome customer service — the front desk staff were fantastic! Loved the hotel and definitely plan to stay again, next time for longer. It was just a short drive into the U.S., not far from the border. Interestingly, hotels on the Canadian side in the Soo were more expensive and didn’t have nearly as many amenities or updates. Great value and experience overall! 5+ stars (massive applause for the front desk staff, super lovely ladies and customer service- as well as the valet, we didn’t use them but I witnessed several times very friendly and helpful interactions) love love love!

Room was clean and jacuzzi was cool inside but the shower was hard to maneuver. Wish check out time is longer.the guy at the swimming pool last night for grab sample of water was nonchalant having an "i dont care" attitude when we said the pool was cold he just didnt even resolve the problem just said it was 85 fahrenheit when a lot people feel cold. And staff last week during anniversary grumpy lady way answered if we can have other flavor cake since we didnt like the other flavor.some staff at front desk are nice though.

I needed a place to stay in Sault Ste Marie for work based on recommendations from others. I am glad I did. I would enjoy returning and staying on vacation. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. The refrigerator was big and had a freezer shelf. I was able to set the temperature to 32 f. They have a pool that looks inviting good restraint on property. The staff is very nice. Sault Ste Marie and surrounding area has so much to offer.
Patsy F — Google review
Joke of a hotel. The rooms smelled like a skunk. The temperature jumped from boiling hot to freezing cold back to boiling hot all over the hotel. The hotel security is plain rude. The tv didn't work and the beds were so uncomfortable. If you plan on visiting the pool while here bring a personal ac unit, they have the heat so high its a lawsuit waiting to happen. There is 1 person working the front desk, they are barely there when you need help. The midnight check in crew was disgustingly nasty. There is no daily towel refresh or cleanup. Would give zero stars if possible.

I cannot comment on the hotel as I did not stay there. The concert venue however was gorgeous. A beautiful view of the lake behind whatever artist you are listening to. The grounds were very well manicured, no large holes to fall into or gravel to trip on. It was also very kid-friendly, they had event organizers come out and throw balls to the kids that they got to play with during the concert. You can bring folding chairs! And of course you can bring blankets to sit on. No umbrellas are allowed, I saw multiple umbrellas left at the entrance as i was leaving. The Porta-Johns were nice and clean and didn't smell awful which was very nice for an outdoor concert. We had a wonderful time and the staff was incredibly helpful!

Rooms are renovated but still not great. Dial soap for shampoo and conditioner?!?! Why put money and effort into new rooms. Restaurants were closed by 7 pm where are you supposed to have dinner all staff whether it was at players club on the casino floor or at the deli was rude or agreed that the place is going down hill and had nothing positive to say about the resort. We come here on bus trips and the last two times we stayed in brimley instead of here and now I see why. Even with renovations do not recommend based on staff and hours of operations unless you plan on being in bed by 6 pm. Also no one was seen besides people on our bus.

The rooms as of 9/8/25 were new and comfortable and modern. The building as a whole is umder construction, so portions do not look very nice, but I am sure will be very nice when construction is complete. Cons: They don't offer free breakfast. In fact, the only thing availablefor breakfast is a very small snack bar. The parking lot and driveways are horrible, with huge potholes.
Kenny H — Google review
The hotel room we stayed in was so old and dated. The light quit working in the bathroom a day after checking in. The amount of noise in the walls due to the water pipes was almost unbearable at night. The flooring was "spongy" not sure what the carpeting was covering up. They need to consider removing all of these old rooms or remodeling them after they other part of the hotel casino is finished being renovated. The casino and staff were great

Embark on an adventure with Soo Locks Boat Tours Original - DOCK # 1, located near the tent pavilion. Experience the impressive Great Lakes-St Lawrence Seaway system, connecting Lake Superior to the Atlantic Ocean. Witness a 21-foot drop between Lake Huron and Superior and see landmarks like Algoma Steel and the International Bridge during this two-hour tour. The narrated journey takes you through the locks, guided by retired freighter captains who ensure a safe and informative experience.
A Must-Do in Sault Ste. Marie! The Original Soo Locks Tour was an absolutely wonderful experience! The entire ride was so relaxing and peaceful the perfect way to enjoy the beauty and history of the area. The narration throughout the tour was incredibly informative and engaging, making the journey not only scenic but educational as well. We had the chance to go through the larger American locks on the way out and then returned through the smaller Canadian lock, which was such a unique and fascinating contrast. It really gave us a full appreciation for the engineering and importance of the Soo Locks system. Every staff member we encountered was warm, welcoming, and exceptionally friendly. You could tell they truly love what they do and want every guest to have a great time. At the end of the tour, we stopped by the charming little gift shop by the dock. such a cute spot to pick up a souvenir! Absolutely worth every penny. I would do it again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

We enjoyed this tour. It wasn't too long (2 hrs) and it was very informative and reasonably priced. Our vessel traveled upstream and rose 21' to the level of Lake Superior through the MacArthur lock, and then lowered 21' to the level of Lake Huron on the return trip. The tour is about the locks, the engineering and the vessels you see on the way. Very cool. The boat was in good shape and the crew were all courteous and informative. I recommend this tour if you have any maritime curiosity at all.

If I could give this boat tour more than 5-stars, I would. (Even my teenager had fun on this tour, and said it out loud!!) The crew were not only clearly familiar with the locks, steel plant, and history, but were quite funny as well. We didn’t get to ride WITH a freighter through the locks, but we got to be right next door to a 1000-footer. It was SO COOL to experience such an integral part of the Great Lakes industrial world, as we come from a state over with lots of our own maritime history. Thank you for making this such a memorable time for our family!!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. She was kind of leery about a boat tour but afterwards said she loved it. Friendly staff and crew. Narration was great and we learned a lot about this history of the locks and surrounding area/industry. Got to see taconite pellets being offloaded from a cargo ship on the Canadian side. The lock transitions were awesome. Highly recommended!

Exploring the Soo Locks was great! We had a sunny day and got to see a freighter go through the locks, along with going through it ourselves. It’s very interesting how this locks work, and that it’s all gravity fed, no pumps are used. Very knowledgeable tour guides too. So much information on how the locks came to be, and how much water is used to fill them! The visitor center has a lot of information about the locks, and the guides there have a lot of information. The viewing platform was a great place to watch the freighter come through. We took the Original Soo Locks Tour and it was great. I highly recommend doing this if you are visiting the area.

I thought this was going to be a boring tour but was really surprised how interesting it was. It was a learning experience packed with history and fun facts. Everyone on the boat tour was really friendly. The captain made sure that everyone who wanted a picture on the boat got one. They also have a snack bar onboard which was nice for a cup of coffee. Extremely interesting and fun.
Maria S — Google review
Although late in the season the tour was awesome. They did a get job with the history, city details and pointing out the history along the way for both the USA and Canada. Ticketing was available on-line for any day. Which could be a problem if you were on an agenda but if you have flexibility it was great. They offer a complete refund if you are not able to get on the boat when needed as well. They made the tour interesting and fun. Since, it was their last day of tours, they all dressed up for Halloween. I suggest dress for the weather on the water not land. Expect about 10 degrees cooler - layers are always good. Snacks and beverages available on the boat.

Antlers Restaurant is a legendary landmark located on the south end of the Soo Locks, offering a hunting lodge vibe and serving North Michigan fare for lunch and dinner. The rustic dining room is adorned with over 200 animal mounts, providing a unique atmosphere for diners to enjoy their meals. The menu features a variety of Northern cuisine including cheese curds, poutine fries, fresh-caught whitefish and walleye, as well as Big Foot Burgers.
Great place! Great food! Awesome atmosphere. The taxidermy here is incredible. It has something for everyone. The staff is awesome! Allison is a fantastic waitress. Thank you for the great time and the smiles. We loved it here. The whitetail is absolutely delicious. Thank you again!!

Very memorable restaurant! Highly recommended especially if you're into taxidermy! The restaurant has the most amazing decor that I've ever scene. There's an incredible amount to animals everywhere you look. You'll see some animals that you'll probably never see anywhere else! My waiter was very friendly and attentive. The food prices seemed fair and the selection was decent. Most importantly, the food was really tasty! Best onion rings that I've ever had!!

Poutine! Chicken Pot Pie Poutine! Oh goodness it was delicious. We had a delicious dinner. The white fish dinner was nice and crisp and the homemade fries - yum! The staff was beyond friendly- the cook came out to make sure our meal was up to par. It was late and almost time to close on a long holiday weekend. But they welcomed us and never made us feel rushed. The poutine was a huge serving! Definitely take home box 😂. If you haven’t tried poutine and are thinking about it… this is the place to go for it. This place is so much more than the atmosphere which is totally fun 🤩. Coming back for more. Family friendly, video games. Bar - full service, tv. Note- the entrance is in the BACK - plenty of parking.

I went because of the atmosphere and decor and because the onion rings looked good. The decor is fun and interesting to look at. There was a double headed calf, furry fish, polar bear and many more mounts. The onion rings are fresh made but they have such a heavy breading and they hold the grease from the fryer like a towel. The onions inside were wide cut but very thin. It was si.ilar to eating strips of paper. They look good but they are not. Go for a beer and the atmosphere. But I wouldn't expect too.much from the food if the rest of their menu is anything similar to the onion rings.
Thomas C — Google review
Not a terrible place to eat. The burger is what I would describe as a "hockey puck patty" it was about as thick as it was round. The walls and ceiling has hundreds of old taxidermy mounts of all different fish and animals.

We got the adventure pass which included the tower. My significant other is terrified of heights and im not the biggest fan of them either. Once inside the gentlemen at the desk was seriously the most chillest, calmest, nicest guy. He immediately put our mind at ease and went through the entire process with us. It's a straight shot up with no windows in the elevator. It took less than a min to reach the top. Once up there you can't see down you just see out. It was a very cool experience. If you are reading this we appreciate your assistance and guidance. You were one cool dude 😎

The pamphlet for this tourist attraction is misleading as includes images from multiple locations / attractions in the area, each with different opening/closing times and separate ticket fees. The pamphlet makes it appear that all the images are from the Tower location itself, when some are from the ship museum down the street (on the Deep Valley ship) and I believe other pictures are from a third location that we did not visit. For the most part, the tower is simply an observation tower. $8.50 per adult ticket was reasonable for what it is. There are two outdoor viewing platforms at the top (upper and lower) with an indoor viewing area in between, where you can watch ships passing through the locks. We enjoyed the views from the various viewing areas. There is a minimal amount of “museum” type displays in the building to see as well. The tickets will get you a small discount at the ship museum down the road, and possibly at other nearby attractions.

The Tower of History is an absolute must-visit in Sault Ste. Marie! The panoramic views from the top are breathtaking — you can see the St. Mary’s River, the Soo Locks, parts of downtown, and even Canada across the border. The elevator ride up is quick, and once at the top, you get a peaceful, open-air view that’s perfect for photos. The museum inside also gives a nice glimpse into the local history and culture. A great stop whether you’re exploring the area or just passing through — especially on a clear day when the views are unbeatable.

Such a cool place to visit. I enjoyed learning about the history of it. The stairs are not for the weak, once you start the only way is up or down, thankfully there's a elevator. The views from both viewing areas is AMAZING! A great way to get a good view of the city and the river.
Will M — Google review
When my girlfriend and I visited in late July, we were saddened to learn the elevator was under repair. We had a Soo Locks cruise to catch, and we didn't have time to climb 292 stairs up and down, but we were delighted to see that the elevator was up and running on our recent teip this past Labor Day weekend! The history was amazing, and the views were astounding! The gentleman at the admissions counter was friendly and humorous, and this made for a wonderful experience before we made our way back home!

Very interesting atea history and stories about the Catholic Church. INCREDIBLE views! Five adults costed $42.50 but it was worth it! Took wonderful pictures and were even able to see ships come in the river. Windy! Watch your hat!
Rene J — Google review
The Tower of History offer a 360° view of the town and is next to the locks so you can watch ships traverse it ye lake leading into the lock. There is a few to go up in the viewing area.

The Tower of History in Sault Ste. Marie offers stunning views from two observation platforms—if you can handle the 292-step climb (elevator was broken!). Inside: a short film about the town, fascinating birch peel artifacts, restrooms, and a guest book to sign. Admission is $8.

Zorba’s Greek American Restaurant is a charming, family-owned eatery located in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, where the warm and inviting diner-style atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for casual dining. This delightful restaurant specializes in an array of Greek-American dishes that cater to all tastes, from mouthwatering gyros and souvlaki to hearty pizzas and burgers.
Visiting the "SOO" in the U.P. in Michigan and decided the try Zorbas. Great decision on our part, stopped in for lunch before take ng a boat cruise. We started with the Greek fries, they were exceptional, my wife ordered a burger and really enjoyed it. I opted for the he lamb gyro, it was delicious, lots of shaved lamb, a nice tasiki and fresh lettuce , tomato and onion. Walked right in, no waiting. I highly recommend this Greek restaurant when visiting Saute Ste Marie!

We got a complimentary piece of carrot cake because the wait for the food was so long (which we didn’t mind at all) and it was the best carrot cake I’ve ever had. I got a Mediterranean chicken pita and we got a pizza, both were meh! Waitress was super nice though. Would come back for the cake alone if I’m ever in The Soo again.
Regan B — Google review
This is my new favorite restaurant. The food was amazing. The staff is so friendly and perfect timing every time we needed anything. What a great spot and perfect service. I've been looking for a gyro, this is the place. The tzatziki sauce was amazing. One of the best I've ever had. The wood fired pizza was packed with flavors. And our baklava cheesecake was to die for. I can't say enough about this place. I will be back to try other items.
Shaun R — Google review
We were really impressed with how good the food was here since we have had quite a lot of Mediterranean food in various restaurants and were worried about being let down. I loved the texture of my Mousaka and it tasted scrumptious too, I don’t think I’d had something like that before and I highly recommend it. Unrelated but they have the comfiest booth ever, the seat was perfect, cushion wasn’t too hard or too soft, just the right amount!
Yamin C — Google review
Amazingly fresh Greek food ,which was very flavorful. Although I don't usually eat meat I got the combo with chicken soulvaki, greek salad, tzazeki, small spinach and cheese pies. The only problem seems to be that they do run out of items. Other than that, highly recommended at a reasonable price: combo was$16.95 and they do have a vegetarian version
Cynthia A — Google review
The gyros were really good . Very large with enough meat in it to actually taste and then some. Very generous. Fries are excellent too. Now the waitress Jen K oh boy sorry but she was attentive and also made us laugh we sat outside no she didn't forget about either. The only downside is that the table rocked. Didn't bother me but my wife hates rocking tables lol. Great place will go again next time we get up there

Clyde's Drive-In, nestled near the Sugar Island ferry dock in Sault Ste. Marie, is a delightful gem that combines classic drive-in fare with stunning views of freighters passing by. This beloved spot boasts a menu filled with mouthwatering burgers and crispy onion rings that leave patrons raving about their meals. One enthusiastic visitor even rode 500 miles just to savor the flavors at Clyde's!
Super busy place for good reason, the shakes are amazing and I loved the chili. My favorites! Super friendly staff. Thank You!

Great burgers, I prefer over west pier. However the Saint Ignace location is much better. The malts are ok here, and onion rings a bit over cooked. But the star of the show Big C was amazing. A must stop when in town.
Lawrence L — Google review
Drive in restaurant with a dine-in. They come right up to you and you can order with them, very convenient. They also have outdoor seating for those who fancy it. For the menu you have your classics, cheeseburgers, baskets, sandwiches etc. The burgers were overcooked but better safe than sorry. Depending on the time it can take 30+ mins. The chili was good, you can see everything being made right near the window and they have one restroom in the back of the restaurant.

We're from NC and drove all the way up here to try this place out! Didn't disappoint!! So, darn good!! Such a cool experience and cool location to eat, and the food was great! Definitely need to come check this place out! Totally worth the drive!
Chris D — Google review
The eat in area is very cozy, service is great and food was delicious. Their food is simple, but it really is well done! Best mushroom and Swiss burger I've ever had. The fries are good as are the other sides like the fried mushrooms and onion rings. ***They actually accept credit cards here unlike the Clyde's in St Ignace which is a huge deal for me*** in the year of our Lord 2025, credit cards should be accepted at all locations! We came out for a three day trip and ate here twice because it was that good!
Meghan J — Google review
Best burger in the Soo. Worth the wait. Cheese curds were pretty darn good, onion rings were good as well. Don’t forget a chocolate shake. Wished I would have done the 1-2 lb burger instead of the 1/4. Watching freighters go by is cool.

We stopped at Clyde’s Drive-Thru and were so glad we did. This place is a gem! I had a small cherry shake, my wife went with the butterscotch, and we both enjoyed hamburgers with fries. Everything was delicious and hit the spot. The staff was fast, friendly, and paid great attention to detail—something that really stood out. We chose to eat outside, which made the experience even better. We must’ve shown up at just the right time because the crowd and atmosphere were perfect. If you’re looking for a good ole-fashioned burger and fries with a side of charm, this is the spot. Don’t miss it!

If you're on the lookout for a delightful dining experience, look no further than Cup of the Day. This charming coffee house and deli prides itself on serving food that is simple, fresh, wholesome, and visually appealing. Their menu boasts an array of vegetarian sandwiches, homemade soups, specialty options, and vibrant entree salads. A standout dish is their Michigan cherry salad—an enticing mix of greens topped with cashews, Traverse City cherries, feta cheese, and raspberry vinaigrette.
Good coffee and good food right in downtown Sault Ste Marie. When I'm in the mood for a panni pressed cornbeef sandwich Cup of the Day is my go to. Plus the coffee shop is just a half block from a cute pocket park where you can enjoy your food and watch the world go round.

As we were driving around looking for food, we spotted this adorable place! I had a great conversation with the owner, and talked about how they have stayed in business for so long, and how they are working hard to survive the pandemic. The food was exactly what I wanted! This was our first time here, and we felt like regulars! We took our food to go since we had our dogs with us. The bread was delicious, the sandwiches hit the spot perfectly! We didn't have any coffee, but I heard amazing things from others inside about how good it was! I was so glad we randomly decided to stop here for a bite!

Italian restaurant
Arturo Ristorante is a charming Italian dining spot located in downtown Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. The restaurant offers a cozy and relaxed atmosphere with a compact menu featuring chef's specials and a snug bar stocked with an array of wines. Owned by Chris and Tom Comegna, the restaurant has gained popularity for its authentic Italian cuisine, reflecting the owners' passion for food.
Absolutely delicious! Baja shrimp, gnocchi, ravioli, caprese, wine, cocktails… wow! We have a lot of friends in hockey who travel from Ottawa up to the sault and all they can talk about is the food in the Sault! Being from there, it makes me really proud when people come to my hometown and are absolutely blown away by our Italian restaurants. When I mention, my cousin got married at Arturo, of course it was “We love Arturo!!” My only complaint is we don’t have an Arturo in Ottawa! :)
Cris M — Google review
Our first time at Arturo's was a celebration for my mother's birthday. At our request, they were able to tuck us away in a semi-private space at the back of the restaurant. Our server was the co-owner Thomas. He was fun, very attentive and made a lot of time for us, without being intrusive. The food was excellent. They offered a steak and pasta special that I'm still thinking about. It was a Friday night and the place was buzzing with an active, but not too distracting atmosphere. Highly recommended. We will definitely go back.

After days of traveling from Vancouver Island, I was craving a truly satisfying meal — and Arturo Ristorante delivered beyond my expectations. I called ahead, a little worried that my road-weary, disheveled look might not fit the atmosphere, but the host immediately put me at ease, kindly telling me, “Don’t worry, there’s no dress code — just come in and enjoy yourself.” That set the tone perfectly. I took a seat at the bar, and enjoy myself I did. With eight stunning pasta options on the menu, I couldn’t choose just one. Luckily, my bartender Tom — as gracious and hospitable as he was gorgeous — suggested a split order and guided me toward his personal favorites. Best advice ever. The chefs are absolute wizards. The homemade pasta and sauces were so exquisite they nearly brought me to tears — truly one of the most memorable meals I’ve ever had. I ended with the tiramisu, a dessert that managed to be both rich and airy at the same time, the perfect finish. What a heavenly spot. If I could give more than five stars, I would. Thank you, for such a beautiful experience.

Started us out with bruschetta and olive tapenade which was good! We weren’t that hungry but wanted to come here. We shared the calamari and mussels in white wine both were good. We had an arugula salad which we had them switch from blue cheese to goat cheese (very accommodating). Salad was good but lacking something…they didn’t give us the pine nuts nor did they substitute or ask. Anyways, they did take some money off after I asked. Why did I have to ask??
Denise B — Google review
We, a group of 7 out-of-towners who had just rolled into town after an 8 hour drive happened to stumble upon this restaurant on Sept 15. We did not have a reservation, and Tom the owner, offered us bar seating. If we were ok with it. We were glad to take that offer, and were not disappointed. Tom looked after us from start to finish, and went out of his way to make us our personal cocktails based on our preferences! Even showed us the longest pepper mill he had :) Amazing food and most of all awesome service! Thank you for taking care of us Tom!

Stopped here during our drive from Calgary to Toronto. Best meal on the trip. We were greeted and seated right away. The service was excellent from start to finish. The meals, from starters to deserts were incredible. Not a single missed step. Some very creative dishes. Sault St. Marie is lucky to have a spot like this. If you're anywhere near this establishment, go pay a visit, you will not regret it! Thank you!

An unexpected elegant twist - absolutely do not judge a book by its cover! (Only reason I rated 4-stars for Atmosphere) A very unassuming and simple exterior in the downtown area. Small but very very good. Making reservations might be a good idea. I travel for business and stumbled across this spot - I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to experience this awesome Italian cuisine! Food all tasted great! Very nice atmosphere.
Duke D — Google review
The food is quite good but the service was absolutely abysmal. I didn’t catch the waitresses name but she was a slim brunette 20 something who has no business doing that job. She was utterly horrendous and is a liability to a place that is otherwise quite good (albeit overpriced for the quality). They had started her off as the bartender and then had her waiting tables. She does not belong in the service industry. Absolutely terrible.

Located in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada, Station Mall is the second largest shopping mall in Northern Ontario. Situated on the waterfront, it boasts over 120 stores including major retailers like Sears and Zellers, an arcade, a movie theater, a food court, and various restaurants. Visitors can also find practical amenities such as a post office and currency exchange. The mall offers a great atmosphere with a wide variety of stores for an enjoyable day of shopping.
Very nice and clean mall with a whole lot of stores to get great stuffs ranging from clothing to arts, to cosmetics, books and even jewelleries. There are also stores that sell phone accessories. I love the mall, it’s a great place to just window shop. There’s a cinema there as well as Sephora beauty store. Great place to visit or just to hang around and take a look at nice stuffs.

It's a memorable shadow of its former self. I used to go here as a child and it really was magical every visit. Even more if it was a holiday. Now it's....almost perpendicularly grey in presentation and atmosphere. What's there reminds you of what was, but that's it. It's good to see patrons gathering for their coffee and musings, we got a security complement protecting whatever remains, but as far as any prosperous or grand experience, that's been long lost. You can tell.
Seano T — Google review
Very lovely mall. All they need is more food options at the food court. ie A Greek food option or something like a Thai Express
David — Google review
When we enter the mall it felt a bit like an exploring abandoned places video till we moved past the beetle car location to the food court. There is a robust hub of action around the food court with the highlight definitely being the Bootlegger store. Also there is a large security presence on hand by the food court in case someone runs off with a big slice! Started as a 1 review ended up being a 3. If you need jeans head to the Bootlegger!
Paver K — Google review
The mall is very quiet. Many of the good stores are closed, leaving a mall full of cell phone stores and a dollar store with a security guard that follows you so close he might as well carry your bags. Maybe one day a few good stores will return to the mall and maybe some good food.
Taylor R — Google review
This mall is great I am only giving it three stars mainly because of showcase and how uncomfortable they made people feel. I was in showcase today and they had three security guards down at the end of the mall and it made the shopping experience very uncomfortable for a lot of customers I heard a lot of customers complaining that they were uncomfortable and they left right after they entered the store they went to the store and they would leave right away because they felt uncomfortable. The staff were extremely inconsiderate and did nothing about it they let their customers be uncomfortable and they allowed security guards to breed down their neck. What made it most uncomfortable for me is the fact that staff members were following the customers around like we were dogs and so with security guards. I don't know the lady's name but she definitely did not help. I immediately left right after entering the store because I felt very uncomfortable and I won't be going back for a while
Sara W — Google review
Don't let the outside fool you. Although it's not a very big mall compared to what I'm used to it was very nice and clean. Our only purpose for going was to order poutine at New York Fries. We did walk the entire mall and went outside to walk across the street to the riverwalk.

Sault Ste. Marie Boardwalk, also known as the Waterfront, runs along the St. Mary River near Station Mall. This picturesque walkway leads to various attractions and features like Beavertails for a Canadian treat and the Roberta Bondar Pavilion tent hosting summer events. Sault Ste Marie is a must-visit on a Northern Ontario road trip, offering attractions for kids, historical sites, shopping, and dining options.
Beautiful boardwalk trail by the Sault Ste Marie waterfront. Interesting statues and art installations with nice parks to stroll through, great place to walk the dog. Don't wear your good shoes, there are lots of geese on the trail, they had goslings with them and were very territorial.

Not from the area but met some lovely locals during our stroll. Appreciated the bikes having their separate space so not constantly looking over my shoulder. Lovely little gardens, nice views, some big chairs to relax on and dog friendly. Lots of geese so kept the dogs on alert. Easy to find parking.

Because I lived just down the road from the boardwalk it was almost a daily visit during the summer months. the smell of the fresh air flowing off over the water in between two countries, doesn't get much better than this. Even just the sight seeing, from the old ship's tied to the decks to the older buildings across the river, it is such a beautiful area and I miss being so near yet my homestead now is most uplifting and beautiful in one of the newest suburb additions here in Sault Ste Marie.

Nice boardwalk but a walk to nowhere. Unfortunately there is only the blank back side of a a dying mall and with giant parking lot facing the boardwalk. The city needs to redevelop the mall to pedestrian friendly shops and restaurants facing the waterfront, and this will become a lively and fun destination. Mall parking says that parking is for mall patrons only but ironically the lot was almost empty and there was little access to the mall from that side.

It’s a long day but worth it for the views. We went mid September and the trees were changing and the views were incredible. It might be a bit boring at other times of the year. There are lots of times all you see are rock walls or trees. But when you come upon the lakes and rivers the views are spectacular. Food on the train was good and not overly expensive but a bit high. Some people did bring their own food but we followed their rules and purchased lunch on the train. We had breakfast before we left. The hikes at the midway point are good and relatively easy. We didn’t do the 300 steps to the lookout, but another retired couple we met did and said it wasn’t that bad The commentary on the train ride up was good but lacking on the way back. We would probably do the ride again if we are ever back in the area.

Great day to relax and focus on slowing down and enjoying the scenery. Staff are very helpful and provide great information along the way. They were able to accommodate our accessibility needs with a lift and seating in Car 9 closest to the lift. We did a family trip with a group of 8. Seats were padded and comfortable. Snacks and drinks on board. Even with a late season ride and rainy stsrt to the day, the colours were beautiful. Note for preparation, especially if you are in a group to arrive early, seats are not assigned. Staff are very helpful to accommodate seating requests after boarding.

Must try for all nature lovers. Fall (mid Sep to mid Oct) is the season. The tickets go fast. Also, it's best to time it based on when fall isbat peak. It's a 9.5 to 10 hour investment. 4 hours to go. 1.5 hours at the park for the trails and lookout. And 4 hours back. It's best to reach 30 minutes before, by 7:30 am as the train boards and leaves at 8 am The view is stunning. Pro tip: Team up with your copassenger to switch between the right and left side of the view. When you reach the park, walk along the train tracks for the falls, rather than the trails, it's much easier that way. The lookout has 330 steps. Overall a MUST attend.

Highly recommend, very organized boarding train. Views from both sides of train great scenery. Fall colors were great!!! On one of the web sites it says no food or drinks allowed!!! Wrong. Bring a nice picnic lunch and something to drink. You will be on train for 8 hours. Once you get to the canyon there are pucnic ti eat at. No concessions.

Embark on the Agawa Canyon Tour Train and discover a transformative experience that harnesses the raw beauty of Northern Ontario, inspiring a sense of wonder in those who travel through Sault Ste. Marie's breathtaking landscapes. Be prepared for a scenic journey, with a round-trip duration of 8 hours, divided equally between traveling to Agawa Canyon and returning to the depot. We arrived at the depot by 7:30 am, ready to embark on our journey by 8 am. Despite the crowd, the staff facilitated a remarkably smooth boarding process. We made our way to the lookout, where we were treated to breathtaking vistas that left us in awe. Although the fall colors weren't as vibrant as anticipated, they still displayed a orange-yellow hue with hints of red, serving as a poignant reminder of nature's ability to surprise and inspire us. 🍁 After taking in the breathtaking views at the top, we made our way down with a sense of urgency, driven by the ticking clock. We seized the opportunity to stroll along the train tracks and paused briefly to capture some photos at the river bank. The train's loud whistles signaled our cue, and we had a thrilling 10 minutes to snap a few final shots with the train front. Although we didn't have time to explore the waterfall, we left feeling invigorated by the experience. The train's food and beverage options were reasonably priced. Although the seats had limited legroom, we were considerate of our fellow travelers, sitting across from us. For future trips, I'd consider upgrading to the Stone Gardner coach, which offers a unique experience with its expansive rear window, complimentary meals, and comfortable seating. It is well worth the premium price of $500. Here are my thoughts on the train experience, highlighting areas for growth and opportunities for enhancement. One potential improvement for this train tour is allocating more time to explore the park, as the current 1.5 hours can feel a bit rushed. With so many attractions to see – including the 300-step lookout, two waterfalls, trails, riverbank, it can be challenging to fit everything in. The upgrading the train's seating, could significantly enhance passenger comfort. The train ride features insightful commentary that enhances the experience, offering a deeper understanding of the area's history and ecology. The train thoughtfully slows down at popular spots, allowing passengers to capture memorable photos. The staff, both on the train and at the station, exemplify exceptional service, showcasing genuine warmth, helpful expertise, and unwavering professionalism. Every query receives prompt, clear, and empowering responses. Their diligence in maintaining immaculate washrooms is truly commendable. Without the distraction of Wi-Fi, passengers can fully engage with the breathtaking scenery, fostering a deeper connection with nature. A remarkable display of integrity was demonstrated when the staff made a concerted effort to reunite a lost pair of sunglasses with their rightful owner. The breathtaking double rainbow that appeared in the sky was the perfect finale to our trip, leaving us with an unforgettable sense of wonder.

Really enjoyed the fall colors and the train ride. Would highly recommend. Next time I would pay the extra money to upgrade our ride. The upgrade means food and drinks are included along with servers. That way to don’t need to try to walk through the train cars to try and get to the dining car for coffee etc. while the train is moving. If you order a meal two weeks before that is delivered to your seat.

Breathtaking views, uncomfortable long ride. Overall, I really enjoyed this trip. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking - without a doubt, it’s worth experiencing at least once. When I stepped off the train and looked around, I was amazed. Honestly, if I had only seen photos of the canyon, I would have thought they were photoshopped. Seeing it in person was unforgettable. But there are things that clearly need improvement. The seats in our coach were obviously taken from an old airplane and simply fixed into the train, with foldable trays like on planes. For a long journey - four hours each way (eight hours total on board) - the seats were uncomfortable, and they were placed too close together, leaving very little room for knees. And because we had already spent more than 10 hours on the road before boarding, sitting that long in those seats felt even tougher. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for older passengers as well. Another issue is the short time at the canyon. We only had about 1.5 hours there, which wasn’t enough to fully enjoy the place. The highlight is the waterfalls and the climb to the local lookout point - but with such limited time, you’re either rushing or missing out. Extending the stop would make the tour far more rewarding. One thing I really liked was the monitors in the coach showing a live feed from a camera mounted on the locomotive. It felt like standing right at the front of the train, like on the bow of a ship. The idea is fantastic, but the execution needs work: the video wasn’t smooth (more like a slow slideshow), and the screens were small. Larger, better-quality screens with smoother video would make this feature truly amazing. PS: I also want to mention the staff, both on the train and around it - zero complaints. They are super friendly, helpful, and professional. Whenever I had a question, I got clear answers right away, just a great team. And another positive detail: there is no cell service along the way, and the organizers did not provide Wi-Fi. That meant no clowns shouting on FaceTime or WhatsApp and waving phones around. Everyone simply enjoyed the trip and the views.

Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie, located at 30 Bay St., offers a variety of entertainment options for visitors. With 450 slot machines and 21 table games, guests can try their luck in a lively atmosphere. The casino is known for its friendly security and floor staff who are always ready to assist patrons. Additionally, the on-site restaurant provides delicious dining options, such as the exceptional Caesar salad and coconut shrimp.
**Shoutout to Wendy at Guest Services** Traveling with my wife, we decided to check out the casino. Being from out of town, it was so nice that Wendy at the front desk greeted us with a huge smile, and offered help, even some jokes and small talk. She was able to set us up with some membership(points) cards, and gave us all the info we'd need to enjoy our visit. Did some gaming - Plenty of machines to choose from. We grabbed a menu from the bar, as we had missed the restaurant timing. The food was soo good and very fairly priced. Service and Smiles in this Casino are bountiful! If we're ever passing through again, we'll be sure to stop in!

Enjoyed our visit. We actually stopped in as a last minute activity for Memorial Weekend and had fun. Easy access from the bridge. Free parking. Friendly staff. Bar and seating area with TVs. Beverages - fountain drinks as well as bar. Clean restrooms.

No jackpots spent $1109 highest payout was $135. Hardly any bonuses on all games, this casino is on its way out. You never hear excited cheers, laughter like other casinos, the atmosphere is boring. Nothing to bring you in. Across the boarder is better. Even with the exchange rate you still have a better chance of winning then at Gateway Casino. Stay away.

Interesting casino, believe it's main structure is a Coverall structure. It seems to work for them and maybe cost cutting measure. They have a good selection of slot machines and some table games, as such limited game selection but they have blackjack. Staff were friendly and the casino offers self serve pop and coffee. If going there I suggest bringing cash with you as ATM fees are pricey.

Me and my mom had dinner there the other night. It was so delicious. The steak was so nice and tender and the potatoes and gravey were good as well. I didnt care for the choice of vegetable, which was mixed. but everything was hot. The soup was awesome as well. It had lots of vegetables in it and very tasty. Th cherry pie wasn't that great and I love cherry pie usually. I have posted pics. Overall the meal was really good and a very reasonable price of 24.99 each I think.

Lychee Thai Restaurant is a relaxed BYOB spot that offers traditional Thai curries, noodle dishes, and stir-fries with delivery service. Owned by Tan and Carmine, who have a passion for sharing the flavors of Thailand in Northern Ontario. The restaurant has received positive feedback on its delicious dishes such as spicy eggplant, mango salad, pad Thai, chicken satay, and coconut sticky rice.
Good food! We loved the Chicken and Beef Satay, Mango Sticky Rice and the General Thai Chicken ⭐️ Service was excellent!p Place was clean and easy to find but it was a bit dark inside (not sure if it's the theme). Parking is at the back area of the restaurant.

I was so glad to see this place was still in business. I hadn’t been here for years so I got some take out. The staff are so friendly and kind. I ordered the veg spring rolls and ginger chicken with side of rice. One of the spring rolls was damaged and a real mess to eat. This is when I noticed the only veg in them was shredded lettuce. I was not impressed for $6. This would have had more value to me if there was julienned carrots and cucumber with the mint. The main dish made up for the dismal veg roll’s by being delicious and hearty. Generous portions of chicken, broccoli and veg cooked and crunchy and the flavour was great. The rice was cooked perfectly. The takeout forks sucked. I need to remember to carry my own cutlery on my travels. I will return.

I ordered the Curry Pad Thai and the Mango Mojito without the Rum. The food was great, the curry was a little dry otherwise tasty. Loved the Mojito as well. The ambience is warm and welcoming. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. The service was great and so was the person who took orders. Definitely recommend to visit.

We ordered takeout and the woman on the phone was very nice and efficient. Food was ready quickly and packaged great. They even had cardboard between each dish to keep the structure of the bags. Food was delicious! I ordered pad thai with tofu and veg. Tofu had a great texture to it. Chicken shanghai noodles also good. The chicken was cooked so juicy and tender! My husband got the sesame chicken and ginger chicken. Also tender and seasoned well. Will definitely return to turn more of their menu!

Great restaurant and friendly staff, my first choice for dinner with friends. Affordable and delicious, each dish is very tasty. BUT be sure to try The Smoked Shrimp Fried Rice and Pad See-ew, they are my favorites!!! General thai chicken is sweet and sour and the chicken is very crispy. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Nestled within the Delta Sault Ste. Marie Waterfront Hotel and Conference Centre, the View Restaurant and Bar is a culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With its stunning vistas of the St. Marys River, this sophisticated eatery specializes in farm-to-fork fare, showcasing an impressive array of fresh Atlantic seafood such as Digby Bay scallops, PEI mussels, and succulent lobster tail. The menu also features delightful options like North Pacific Halibut and creamy buffalo mozzarella.
Everything was fantastic and my waitress Helene was amazing and very personable. I worked in fine dining and managed nightclubs for 18 years, she’s a huge asset to View Restaurant. Props to the chef as well! I highly recommend trying this place out.

We decided after seeing the patio on the water that this would be our dinner stop the next time we were in the Soo. Fast forward to this evening. First: Typed sign on the pedestal that the kitchen is closing at 8:45 pm for maintenance, not 10 pm. We arrived at 7:30 pm. Second: Patio is closed. It's July in Northern Ontario. Why is the patio closed? No reason was given. Third: The dining room is closed. There was no reason given. Fourth: Bar seating only. Televisions are on with volume. The restaurant is inside the Delta hotel. We considered leaving. We ordered dinner. Service was mediocre. People began piling into the bar and quickly filled the few tables. A group of 8 were turned away. Then, a couple were seated in the dining room or on the patio. So, the two seating options were closed to the majority but not all. This did not leave a very warm and fuzzy feeling. The food was okay. But honestly, for the price, it is very light on portion size. We will not likely be back due to the lack of professionalism demonstrated by the hotel management for these odd decisions.

I recently dined at View in Sault Ste. Marie and had a wonderful experience overall. I ordered the Blackened Tuna with vegetables and fries, and the dish was absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The restaurant’s location right beside the lake made the dining experience even more enjoyable, and I was lucky to get a table with a beautiful lakeside view, which added a serene and relaxing atmosphere. The staff was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and genuinely interested in ensuring everything was going well during my meal. I also tried one of their cocktails; while it was well-presented, I found the excessive basil, sliced rather than lightly muddled, affected the flavor and made it less enjoyable. Overall, View offers outstanding food, excellent service, and a stunning location, making it a top choice for anyone visiting Sault Ste. Marie. I look forward to returning and trying more of their menu.

Just had our 25th wedding anniversary here last night. View is a great name for the restaurant, because the river view is beautiful, though I think my view of her was better. We had duck bombs, cedar planked salmon, traditional chicken piccata. For dessert it was Japanese style cheesecake (terrific lemon flavor throughout) and crème brûlée (perfect golden crust).

I had a great dinner with nice view and service. But food we had wasn’t the best I had. The escargot was average and had something that was sandy texture. The steak was medium but overcooked and a little salty.

We ordered a salad to share. They brought the salad and an extra plate and let us split it whatever way we wanted to. Dinner we had Salmon on a cedar plank. For dessert we shared a piece of chocolate cake that they make in house. The nice thing was they precut the cake and dressed up both plates nicely for us to eat. It was a good sized piece to eat for each person, portion wise

New York Steak was mouth watering, roasted lamb was so tender and the chicken was pretty good. Highly recommend one of the steak main dishes, Duck Main or Roast Lamb Main dish. We had chipotle mashed potatoes as a side starch and it was perfectly spiced and perfectly whipped. We had crab cakes as a starter. They were very tasty but did taste like they were frozen not fresh. The staff were super helpful and friendly and educated on there own menu. Atmosphere was quite nice and the View of the St Mary's River and Sault Locks is very pretty, especially at sunset.

Don’t get fooled that the restaurant is inside a hotel. It is a very good restaurant with a perfect setting on the water and an elegant yet simple decor. The servers and bartenders are friendly and attentive. The menu is a fine selection of items and they were all very good: well prepared and tasty. The NY strip with the addition of the steak medley was cooked to perfection, tasty and juicy. The cedar planked salmon had a nice walnut crust and came with pesto mashed potatoes, delicious. Note that the salmon has a little of a sweet flavor due to the honey butter. The Korean fire noodles were very different and tasty. We ordered it with the steak. Definitely a restaurant to recommend and come back!

Will NOT be returning. Long wait times for small servings of food (almost impossible to go with children who are hungry). No bread is served while waiting. Ordered the bree cheese/bread appetizer with our drinks as we were seated but the server forgot to put it into orders; didn't receive dish until 20 mins AFTER dinner was finished. I ordered the Cioppino (jumbo shrimp, *calamari, mussels, & fresh fish in a tomato and herb broth served with garlic bread) for $33 and it was entirely missing calamari in the dish. Our beverages were never offered refills despite fully drinking them within 10 minutes of receiving until after our bill was given (70+ mins into the expirence). The restaurant wasn't busy, and there were many empty tables, unsure why service was this way. Our server comped us for the Cioppino, was polite, and apologized for each of the mistakes that were made... Kids and I left the restaurant STILL feeling hungry. Not worth the bill AT ALL.

Antico Ristorante is a delightful venue for creating cherished memories with your loved ones. A culinary enthusiast in the family eagerly made reservations to introduce this establishment during their visit to the Soo. The staff provided exceptional and accommodating service. With a party of ten, everyone had an amazing time! The table was adorned with wine bottles, antipasto, and an array of delectable scallop dishes from both the regular menu and specials. The presentation and taste were truly impressive.
Every single bit of food that touched my mouth tonight was so heavenly that as soon as I got back to the hotel, I had to write a review. This quaint and unpretentious little restaurant was recommended to me by a friend. Boy, this restaurant blew me away. For starters, Chef Art has made me a believer of figs. I wasn’t a big fan of figs before. After I tasted the appetizer of figs, prosciutto, honey, and cheese…this is a must try. The combination of the sweet honey and figs and the saltiness of the prosciutto, just wow. It hit all the right notes. The main course did not disappoint either. We got both the specials for the evening. I had the beef tender loin and prawn surf and turf. We also tried the other special of salmon with cream sauce and spinach ravioli. I’m amazed by the level of attention and detail in each of the dishes. The steak was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. We capped the evening with the most delectable tiramisu. Sooo good. One of the best tiramisus I’ve tasted. If you are in the SSM area, this is one food destination you shouldn’t miss. I will be back soon for more. P.s. make sure to make a reservation as the place itself is small but very cozy.

Antico is a local favorite and has always been a go to for any friends and family visiting from out of town. The dishes all are refined and full of flavour. The appetizers stand out the most, the shrimp putanesca and the blackened scallops are truly delicious. The deserts never disappoint either, the tiramisu and my personal favorite the limoncello cake. This restaurant really feels like the chef has made it his own. You really get a personal experience here, as Chef Arturo takes time (when possible) to talk with guests and make sure they enjoy their meal.

It was a great dining experience: my friend and I sat for three hours and savored our way through the menu from appetizer to dessert. We had no issue finding parking as there are spaces on the property and street parking as well. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is amazing; not to mention the great service! The chef and owner even came out to greet us and I thought that was just wonderful! Many thanks to Lindsay (or Lindsey maybe) for her wonderful demeanor and hospitality. I had : cheeseballs ( in tomato and basil sauce I believe) followed by Veal Saltimbocca and sealed off with Tiramisu. My friend had: arincini followed by a Greek salad with Tiramisu for dessert. Neither of us drink alcohol so we opted for tea and iced tea. It was a great way to spend the evening, highly recommend! 15/10 :)

The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre is a captivating destination for aviation enthusiasts and families alike. This museum showcases an impressive array of historic bushplanes, water bombers, and commercial aircraft within its expansive hangar. Visitors can immerse themselves in the world of aviation by exploring the interiors of these fascinating planes or climbing to the top of a forest ranger tower to engage in playful firefighting scenarios. The centre also features three flight simulator theatres that promise an unforgettable experience for aspiring pilots.
We visited Canada for the first time yesterday and stopped at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. Very nice and informative museum. Alot of Canadian aviation history in one hanger. Many planes to look at from small float planes to larger fire bombing aircraft. Everyone was very friendly. The facility was nice and clean and as a bonus, it had an entomology lab inside that had an array of of insects from small to large, along with several small reptiles. The lady that showed us some of the critters(I'm sorry I forgot her name) was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. If you make it to Sault Ste Marie, Ontario Canada. I would highly recommend checking it out👍👍😊

Great collection of aircraft! I loved that you can actually board most of them and take a look inside. It makes for an immersive experience to be able to wander around the inside of the hull and take a stroll through history. I do recommend that the employees are coached a little better as there was 0 enthusiasm from the employees. We wandered into the insect exhibit and the young women inside wouldn't even make eye contact with us. I tried to smile at them but they looked away. A warmer reception from the employees would have made the experience truly memorable.

Came here to show my partner around the sault and its offerings. It wasn’t overly busy, it was us and a bunch of kids having a birthday party (with their parents socializing). It was nice to have the place (mostly) to ourselves but the kids were loud and running around mostly unsupervised (not the bush planes fault). There are some great interactive displays that you could scan with your phone and sift through hard board book like information. There’s quite a few planes to look at and even some that will let you get inside and take a closer look! We enjoyed the water bomber video experience personally. They have a little gift shop at the end with a few nicknacks. We also enjoyed the Entomica exhibit with the cool insects and bug displays, which can be found inside the museum. Overall a decent experience. I’d been once before. A cool place to check out if you’re into museums and haven’t ever been!

A lively museum. The insectarium is cool, and the museum itself is jam packed with aircraft you can touch. They’re all super clean and just beautiful to look at. Definitely recommended.
Daniel T — Google review
I attended a wedding here a couple of weeks ago, and the venue was amazing. 10/10 would recommend. The planes were so cool and I really enjoyed the insectarium. P.s: thank you to the childcare staff for watching over the kids so the parents could relax a bit. You guys were awesome.

We got the tour and it was excellent. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. There are also very interesting movies. And there are so many engines to look at!
K S — Google review
Museum itself is fine, plenty of information and such to be had next to all the exhibits. My one gripe is the political "elbows up" and "canada not for sale" merchandise available in the gift shop. A Museum is a place of learning, not a place of opinion politics. Do better. Whoever made this decision should be ashamed.

Farmers' market
Soo Market, situated near Downtown Plaza, is a newly opened local farmers market that showcases a wide array of locally grown produce, handmade items, and artisanal goods. Visitors can explore the market to find an assortment of local goodies while enjoying the clean and hygienic environment. The venue offers a great variety of vendors and provides local farmers with exposure for their produce.
Great variety of handcrafted soaps, jellies, fresh produce, honey, fish and more! Great little bug encounter which the young people were so happy and gracious to educate you on, as well as let you handle the critters. Everyone was pleasant and happy to see you there. Inside and enclosed so made for a very relaxing morning and browsing experience.

Such a beautiful summer market. Love the vibes and all the stalls! It’s a little cramped but great overall. I got these beautiful flowers!
Emily J — Google review
Came empty handed left full! Great market lots of cool and unique vendors. We ended up with hot sauce, pickles, gluten free baking and beef jerky. Had we know how robust the market was we would have allowed more time for a longer visit. Make sure you head out back when you are there. It’s an amazing space with great vendors as well!
Paver K — Google review
I'm from London,On and I couldn't believe how fresh the fruits and veggies are. A lot of great food vendors. A bit smaller than I thought but it was good.
Joy L — Google review
This is an awesome market area. There is a lot of variety, the vendors often change on different days offering even more variety. Prices are fair, food is good and they people are friendly! It's indoors which can give a nice break from the weather and offers a year round market.

This small market in Sault Ste Marie is great!! They had multiple booths with local fresh fair; fish from Lake Superior, veggies, baked goods, crafts, home made sauerkraut and more. They even have a bug zoo for the kids!
Michael K — Google review
I love it for local goods ranging from dog treats (homemade) and fresh veggies, spice, every thing nice :)
Madison — Google review
This farmer’s market is indoor and has a selection of knitted items, fresh fruit & veggies, prepared foods, fish, baked goods and artisan crafts. Sometimes there can be a line to get in, so you have to be patient. Most of the vendors were lovely but I’ve had 2 rude encounters. This market makes it easy to shop local and fresh - I would recommend stopping by.

The Roberta Bondar Park and Tent Pavilion is a popular spot in the city, located along the Waterfront Boardwalk by the St. Mary's River. It offers a scenic stretch for cyclists, walkers, and joggers to enjoy. The park hosts various events, concerts, and festivals with facilities like dressing rooms and a kitchen available for use. During summer, it becomes a venue for concerts featuring local orchestras and exciting events.
I always love coming here, it’s a great place to have different kinds of activities. It is surrounded by a beautiful view and great places to take memorable photos. I recommend visiting this place. You could just take a walk around to enjoy the superb views.

Cool little park we went on a Saturday and it was a ghost town. We only found like 4 shops open. I don't recommend touristing on the weekend to Canada.
Jeremy T — Google review
This is a public market/arena and there is plenty of parking. Excellent for watching the St.Mary River and the US border. There is restroom here which is very clean. We went on a Saturday and there were a few farmers selling their produce. Very nice quite place to walk around and enjoy the scenic views.

I love all the activities they have here. It is accessible as well, which is a nice bonus. They have two bathrooms, one at the front one at the back. They serve food when an event is going on. The clean-up is quick and efficient after an event. I love the stage and live music the most. It is a hub of activity and a staple in our community. It even had its own facebook page with upcoming events. It has screens they can pull down to keep the sun out, and it is accessed by many different openings. The parking can be a bit hectic as there is not much of it but the station mall is right next to it and you can park there and walk over. Overall a very fun palce to be.

The Roberta Bondar Park and Tent Pavilion in Sault Ste. Marie is a great waterfront gathering spot with a mix of open green space and event activity. It’s right by the St. Marys River, offering beautiful views and easy access to the boardwalk. The pavilion hosts concerts, markets, and festivals during the summer, giving it a fun community vibe. When there’s no event, it’s still a nice place for a walk or a quiet break near the water. Parking is nearby, and the area feels clean and well-kept.

this park is a lively waterfront spot that often hosts community events, concerts, and festivals in Sault Ste. Marie. When it’s quiet, it’s still a nice place for a walk or to sit by the river and watch boats pass through. There’s good parking nearby, clean public washrooms, and easy access to the Hub Trail. The pavilion area is spacious and well-kept, making it great for gatherings.

We didn't actually seek out this park but it was along the boardwalk in Sault Saint Marie, Ontario. The whole walk along the rivers/locks/lakes was very pleasant. We were in our 26' motor home and found plenty of easy parking on the back side of the mall, right next to the scenic boardwalk. After a long stroll, we drove across the international bridge into Michigan where we took a boat cruise through the SSM locks. Very interesting!

Oh Crêpe! is an outstanding spot for breakfast in the charming downtown area of Sault Ste. Maries. This delightful eatery offers a wide array of delectable crepes, perfect for a rainy day treat. The hot chocolate served here is simply divine. It's the ultimate destination to satisfy your cravings while exploring the local shops. The staff at Oh Crêpe! are always pleasant and hardworking, ensuring a fantastic experience every time you visit.
I eat here all the time! The food is fantastic, the atmosphere gives a cozy hipster vibe, and the drinks are amazing. You can watch them make everything you order, and you can customize the ingredients is basically everything. They even have gluten free and vegan options. I have started asking for wild combos and the staff is amazingly adaptable and even when I over order on the crèpe fillings (purposefully) they manage to still make it delicious and hold together. I’m not a big fan of coffee but the rest of their drinks are equally as good as I hear their coffee is. Lightning Lemonades (or Lightning Arnold Palmers) are the best way to get your energy for the day. Aside from the taste, the ever changing specials menu is awesome and makes for a different experience every time you go. If the Gyro is the special it’s mandatory to eat here several times a week, I don’t make the rules. Finally if you are sitting at the bench windows you can look out at the Soo Locks, watching the giant freighters come and go, a perfect view for locals and tourists alike.

This place was something we saw and had to visit! The outside is very cute and clean. The inside was clean and simple and loved the style! Service was very accommodating and friendly! The food….wow! Nutella and Strawberry, The Apple Turnover and The Northerner were on our plates and we were very impressed!

Incredible place. I only tried the coffee there, but my friends tried the crepes. Everyone loved what they got! Their summer specials are so unique. Interior is beautiful. Exterior is beautiful. The wait time wasn’t bad despite the rush. Great system with numbers they’d give you and call them out. Staff is attentive and sweet ☕️

We arrived just as they were opening and they were warm and welcoming. The crepes were delicious! We even got an extra one to go. The inside is so cute and everything was clean and well thought out. We sat at the counter and watched a ship go through the lock. Highly recommend!

This is a great little café. Such a cute idea. I was surprised at the variety of crepes offered. I had their Cali Club, it was very good. And I ordered their Holy Canoli to take with me. I ate it cold, not too sweet and enjoyable to have the little bits of crunch. I bet its even better fresh, straight from the giddle. A fun friendly place with good food.

Stopped here for lunch and coffee, and it did not disappoint! The espresso/latte was my favorite on our trip up north. Had The Vortex for lunch and it was delectable!! Loved the espresso so much had to buy a bag to take home. Great spot for lunch and coffee!

Tasty healthy food options. I got the Autumn harvest bowl and only had half of it because it was filling. I also had the white and gold latte which is white chocolate and Turmeric, it was delightfully different and not too sweet. 2 entrances, one handicap ♿️ accessible.

At first, we thought it was just an outfitters shop. We were actually looking for a meal and a beverage. We were Wowed the atmosphere and vibe. The food was excellent, and the beer selection was great. We went the next morning for breakfast and coffee, both of which awesome as well. We were just passing through so unlikely to visit again but it was such a cool place that we had to post a review. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a nice casual easy place that makes you feel comfortable and at home. They also run tours and seem to be well tied into the community.

Such an AMAZING coffee shop! The BEST barista was so accommodating and friendly. We had a huge order with nine specialty drinks and each one was perfect. The espresso was bold and clean. A definite must stop for anyone who is looking for good quality coffee and a chill atmosphere. Also, very good gluten free options for baked goods. The banana chocolate chip muffins were GF and so tasty! Thank you for a great breakfast!

The BEST!! It was such a pleasure to work with Ken, Jack, John and their staff. We kayaked the soo locks with them and had a group of five of us. They worked very well with us in coordinating and making sure everyone had a reservation. We had to scramble and change dates at the last minute due to weather and lost some people in our group due to scheduling. We made it work even though we were driving for 4 to 5 hours each way to kayak. They were so wonderful to work with. And they have wonderful drinks and a great outdoor and indoor atmosphere.
Amy G — Google review
I posted my first 5 star review here 6 years ago...I still stand by that. This place is not your typical anything. Which makes it perfect to me. They use the best coffee, roasted by Les Cheneau Coffee Roasters, which is "just" south of here on the south side of the UP. It is by far the best coffee I've ever had - every single blend, including their cold brew and their espresso. Beside that, the food is awesome! Hands down, always get one of the specials (if they aren't sold out yet!). I don't know who does the menu but they probably should get paid more. Simple, healthy, delicious, I would eat here for every meal if it were possible 😂. The staff is also great, friendly, and accommodating. The atmosphere is nice as well, you have to go here to really understand. They frequently change up how the furniture is arranged, which is fun. And unlike a lot of coffee or breakfast places, there is plenty of room.

Chummys Grill, a beloved establishment in the Batchewana Bay First Nations community, offers classic dishes for all meals of the day. This restaurant in Sault Ste Marie is open from Tuesday to Sunday, but it's their fish-fry nights on Thursdays and Fridays that attract the largest crowds. Renowned for generous portion sizes and welcoming service, Chummys Grill has gained recognition beyond its local following.
Service was excellent the waitress was very friendly, atmosphere was wonderful, carvings were amazing, food was absolutely delicious and arrived within 10-15 minutes of ordering the food. 10/10 would strongly recommend trying this place

Visited on a Thursday and lucked into Chummy’s famous fish fry. The pickerel was delicious: tender, lightly battered and served in massive portions. I took two of the four fillets home for later, but managed to finish the tasty thick-cut fries. The place was packed at around 6pm. It took a while to get seated but the vibe was warm and humming with conversation. Glad to see this Batchewana First Nation restaurant thriving. Best food I’ve had in Sault Ste. Marie so far.

Stopped in for breakfast during my Great Lakes swim tour on our way out of town and WOW. Maybe the best breakfast I ever had! Best home fries, amazing homemade toast, local maple syrup, great service, warm atmosphere, and very good prices. Will absolutely return when I come back to commune with the mermaids in Lake Superior <3 Really interesting and unique menu too. Regret not trying the "scone frybread".

Walking in, super cool vibe. Wood carvings all over and nice people. The place has suitable space for booths or tables, your choice. Food was solid , onion rings didn't disappoint. The small Caesar salad was enough for 2 people as an appetizer. The deep fried pickles " were good, they were deep fried pickles " -- the gf (( I don't like them, hard to swallow )). Had the pulled pork sandwich which held up, like a solid 7/10. Can't complain, I expected worse. And the FRIES are solid ✔️ To add, chief burger is crazy in size, the burger is enough for a Man (( add cheese, remove relish, add pickles )) Service was cool, didn't have to ask for more napkins or anything. Also didn't kick it us out after close.

We’re new to the city and decided to try Chummy’s after reading its glowing online reviews, and it did not disappoint! We’ve already been three times, and it’s quickly become our go-to spot for breakfast and brunch. The eggs benedict is outstanding. The hollandaise sauce is exactly how I like it, and I appreciate that they ask how soft you want your eggs cooked. I love a soft, oozy yolk that isn’t runny, and they nailed it every time. The home fries are also excellent, crispy on the outside, tender inside, and lightly seasoned. My husband has loved the omelettes and french toast. Service has always been friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere feels both cozy and welcoming. The restaurant is spotless and inviting, and with it being so close to home, I know we will be regulars here for a long time to come.

I have not been here for years, but today was phenomenal. The portions of food, the quality, and the fantastic hostess/server named Kaitlyn she was amazing. I will definitely return and highly recommend this establishment. I sure did miss it.

Unfortunately both service and quality of food has not been good this visit. Med heat chicken wings were very bland, no spice no taste, barely coated. Service was extremely lacking, 10 ppl in the restaurant, other waitress tending to her tables, 15 minutes after finishing our meal, found our waitress asleep at a staff booth.

Nestled in the heart of the community, Frank's Place is a charming family-run American diner that serves up a delightful array of comfort food. Known for its inviting atmosphere, this eatery offers a fantastic breakfast buffet featuring all your favorites like eggs, bacon, and hash browns. For lunch or dinner, you can indulge in homemade soups, hearty subs, and mouthwatering burgers. One standout dish is their traditional roast turkey served with all the trimmings—perfect for those cozy evenings.
I recently had breakfast at Frank's Place at 123 W Portage Ave, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. The restaurant sits downtown and is a very nice place to visit. I ordered a scrambled egg and sausages. The bread was a freshly made sourdough and it was delicious. The quantity was plenty and cooked very well. If you want a nice breakfast before you start your day, this is a place to go to. My server was very nice and pleasant.
Greg K — Google review
Walked in, waited for 5 minutes to even be addressed by staff, and then was treated like an inconvenience by the waitress, and was then charged 17.39$ for this. The listed menu price on their own website is 10.99. The waitress just hung up on my sister (who paid the bill) after refusing to give any information on management to contact further to be refunded what was overcharged. Be very careful and triple check your bill. I shouldn't have been charged for a five dollar tip on a takeout item, against my wishes, to be ignored and treated like trash. I have always loved Franks Diner. I don't know if the place has changed hands or what is different, but the service is awful and I'll not recommend, nor frequent, an establishment that operates in such a manner.
Galadrial N — Google review
We made a point to visit Frank's again while staying in the Soo on vacation. It was one of our favorite places to eat when in college and still is as good today! The kid's menu has a good selection and is a bit healthier than some of the other places around town. We had the chicken Caesar salad and the pasty and both were delicious and more than we could eat. Our service was a little bit slow but the restaurant was fully filled and had a separate private party also, so it is understandable.
Veronica C — Google review
Great “local” diner, breakfasts are good, my wife claims the coffee is BOSS! Make sure Tiffany is your waitress, she is tops and brings a family atmosphere to the diner!

Franks place has amazing delicious food, portions are large and filling. Waiter is great in fact came back for the second day we were in town for breakfast or brunch before leaving town. Numerous homemade breads for toast etc, cinnamon raisin and rye were delicious. An amazing looking peanut butter pie, but always too full to try. Another diner ate theirs first and the picture of sure joy and pleasure, makes me wish we had done that. Don’t miss this great place 6 stars. Matt our server was amazing both days.

Frank's Place was a great restaurant to grab breakfast during our stay in Sault St. Marie. Service was great and our food was very good. We ate there 2 days in a row and we had the same server, Matthew, he was great and attentive. He remembered us the day before and was super friendly. This restaurant reminded us of our mom and pop restaurant back home. Definitely recommend this place especially for breakfast!
Leah H — Google review
Terrible!! Breakfast was slow to come out of the kitchen considering the buffet available, which about 50% of the half full restaurant was taking part in. Food came out so greasy. Asked for hashbrowns dry and they were soaked with oil. Sausage patty looked like some artificial food item, slightly resembling spam in texture...gross! Ordering the cheapest food quality available doesn't always work in your favor. Bathroom smelled disgusting and there was a wet depend in the garbage. Light switch and door was dirty. Definitely won't be back.

Stayed across the street at hotel and staff recommended this place to eat. I had the turkey dinner and it was great. My husband's not a fan so he got ravioli and meatballs. Beautiful bar and gorgeous decor! We had a very sweet server who was more than happy to serve our party of seven. She brought out coloring pages for the kids and was quick to get orders and drinks. The nachos, salads, and salsa were all very flavorful and filling. Delicious! Portion sizes were sharable with leftovers to take home. The drink special of the day was a Long Island: super strong and delicious citrus flavor. Well worth the stop! We will definitely be back!

Had a great lunch at The Palace and really enjoyed all the efforts they put into their Halloween decor. Lunch was tasty and we really enjoyed ourselves. This might like a small detail but that bathrooms were immaculately clean too. I’ve been to a lot of other “fine dining” restaurants with disgusting washrooms. Overall, great job Palace. Thank you!

I think the overall ambience and history in this restaurant is absolutely amazing. Upon walking in, it makes you pay attention to the authenticity of the building, the beautiful and cherished woodworking. We enjoyed our food, our waiter-I think his name was Caleb-had a quick smile, was very knowledgeable about the menu, readily offered recommendations and was an all around great guy! I did think the menu could have had more offerings, but what they had on the menu available to order was done very well.

Food was very good. Only complaint was the wet burrito with shrimp only had 3 smaller. We told the waitress but she didn't seem to concerned and did not offer a solution. Queso was excellent. Twin fajitas were excellent.

Primary seasoning in my nachos came from the gas of the grill. Absolutely lifeless, flavorless non-authentic rendition of Mexican food. I love finding Good Mexican food, but it is rare and this food seems completely without effort or interest. The waiter was nice tho.

To start, the mild wings were fantastic! They were delicious, fresh, and a good size. However, the southern fried chicken did not live up to expectations. It looked nothing like the photo and was quite small for the price. Additionally, it was a bit dry. The menu lacked variety with limited options available. Despite this, their customer service was exceptional. The waitress was quick and friendly, providing an awesome experience overall.
Our waiter was very attentive and very friendly. There were multiple TV’s with sports on to watch. I had the southern chicken sandwich which was delicious but not quite filling. But I would definitely return, highly recommended.

I decided to visit Montana's to enjoy a dinner with a view of the shore. I had a brisket burger, and although it was delicious, it wasn't special. I also ordered an extra side of cornbread and it wasn't as good as they used to make them. The best part of the dinner was the view on the patio. The service wasn't great, I would've had a second drink but by the time my server came by I was done with the food and ready to leave. If you plan on going, spend your time on the patio otherwise I'd suggest going elsewhere

The pull apart bread appetizer was ok, not too much garlic flavor. The chicken wrap was good and the pulled pork sandwich with fries is very good. Good selection of draft beer.

Food was great I got the tacos on Tuesday so good and as a 9 year old I even asked for a 3rd and 4th totally recommend Ryan trahan

Our server was horrible, we couldn’t order or pay fast enough and as we were telling her what we wanted she kept looking over her shoulder as if she was wanting or looking for something more interesting happening. We had to ask for wet wipes after we ate. The food was good, service was horrible

The building is in disrepair. The entrance is so dark that you are not sure they are open. The washrooms are filthy and dirty, which makes you wonder how clean the kitchen is. The waitstaff is disorganized, so we had no one covering our table for a while. The food is mediocre at best. Avoid ordering their poutine, as the gravy is canned and tasteless. The food is not that good, and the buttermilk-battered chicken looks nothing like the picture in the menu, which shows it as lightly breaded. The only redeeming feature of this place is the patio that faces the river.

I recently visited Montana’s in Sault Ste. Marie, and unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I’ve had in Canada. After enjoying dinner, I presented my American Express credit card to pay, only to be told they don’t accept it. There was no sign or notice anywhere informing customers of this before ordering, which is unreasonable in today’s dining environment. To make matters worse, they had no alternative payment options on-site such as an ATM. The manager’s reaction was shockingly unprofessional. Instead of offering a reasonable solution, he told me to leave my phone as collateral and go back to my hotel to bring the money. This was said in front of other customers, leaving me embarrassed and upset. In the end, I had to call my wife in Toronto to e-transfer $34 to a waitress just to resolve the situation. The lack of courtesy and problem-solving from management was unacceptable. I have always believed that hospitality is about respect as much as it is about food. Sadly, Montana’s in Sault Ste. Marie failed on both counts. I will be taking my business to Kelsey’s, Jack Astor’s, or Chuck’s in the future, where not only is the menu more varied, but customers are treated with basic respect. Montana’s management should seriously consider training their staff on customer service and making payment policies clear before seating guests. Experiences like this are damaging to the brand’s reputation.

Upon arriving we weren't sure what to expect. Once we got in we were pleasantly surprised of how nice and clean the restaurant was. Good customer service. A lot on the menu. The brisket ends were delicious. Great place to start our first night in Sault Ste. Marie. I would definitely recommend this place.
