Tibetan Market

Market
When visiting Ooty, don't miss the Tibetan Market located near the Botanical Gardens. This market is renowned for its wide variety of woolen clothing items such as shawls, jackets, gloves, pullovers, and cardigans at reasonable prices. The vibrant stalls offer a glimpse into Tibetan culture and showcase handicraft items alongside the warm clothing options. Bargaining may not be common here due to already reasonable pricing.
The Tibetan Market in Ooty, located near the Government Botanical Garden is a vibrant and bustling marketplace primarily run by people of Tibetan origin. It's a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, offering a unique shopping experience with a wide array of products, especially: * Sweaters and Cardigans: In various designs, colors, and thicknesses to keep you warm. * Shawls and Mufflers: Offering both warmth and style, often with intricate patterns. * Gloves and Caps: Essential winter accessories. * Jackets and Hoodies: Providing extra protection against the cold. * Warm Pants: Comfortable and cozy for chilly weather. * Woolen items for children: Ensuring the little ones stay warm. Earlier, only cash was preferred but this time i observed literally everyone had the GooglePay option, which is much helpful than carrying cash. Credit cards don't work even if they have the machines. Shops in the Tibetan Market operate on a fixed price policy, with little or no room for bargaining. However, the prices are generally reasonable and often lower than in our cities for the design, varities and quality that you get. Visiting the Tibetan Market offers not just a shopping opportunity but also a chance to experience a bit of Tibetan culture and pick up warm clothing and unique souvenirs in Ooty.

Avoid one vendor she angry middle aged lady around the middle. I recommend two vendors, one is at the far left an old lady and other is a good looking young lady at the middle. I think they sell at reasonable price. Good quality jackets and sweater.

A good place for shopping, located near Ooty botanical gardens. You need to bargain and reduce the prices of items.
Deepu R — Google review
Tibetan market is a bustling place in the evening and is just outside the Botanical Garden. You can get a lot of things here from Bakery items to street food to toys and different kinds of items as Souvenirs. Visit in the evening times for a better experience.
Arup N — Google review
The market is a great spot for picking up winter clothing for all age groups. Prices are generally fixed, so don’t expect much room for bargaining. I’d recommend browsing through a few shops before making a purchase, while rates are mostly within the same range, it helps to compare styles and quality. Overall, it’s a convenient and reliable place to shop for winter wear.
SJ C — Google review
"We visited the Tibetan Market in Ooty, and it's a small but lovely spot to explore. Although it seemed like there was some construction work going on at the time, the market offers a variety of Tibetan handicrafts, souvenirs, and clothing, including warm sweaters. It's a great place for those who wish to purchase some unique Tibetan items or mementos. We didn't end up buying anything.
Linitta S — Google review
Mixed Experience I recently visited Tibetan Market and had a mixed experience. While the overall vibe of the market is great, I found some products, especially for girls, to be quite pricey. Food Options There are some roadside momos available, but I would strongly advise against eating them due to potential food safety concerns. However, the Maggi noodles are okay. Overall Impression Despite some drawbacks, the Tibetan Market has a unique and pleasant atmosphere. With some caution and selective shopping, it can be a great place to explore. Rating: 3/5 stars
Surbhi A — Google review
As I entered this Tibetan market, my eyes found a graceful woman, manning her tiny shop no:44 and I walked up to check her collections of sweaters Our conversations varied from commercial talk to sharing our life experiences and I ended up with a bundle of sweaters and the joy of finding a new sister in Mrs.Lama Some merchants go beyond just the business values

Wax World is a unique museum located just two kilometers from the main town of Ooty. Housed in a 130-year-old Colonial Mansion, it offers an entirely different ambiance for tourists to explore. The museum showcases handicrafts and products made by indigenous communities, including bee honey, bee wax, and hand-crafted artifacts. Additionally, visitors can find gourmet cheeses from Acres Wild Cheesemaking Farmstay in Coonoor.
Visited the Wax World. The statues feel as if they will just start talking. The place seems like it needs renovation as the interiors were in bad shape. Hoping people who visit donate as they are not supported by govt. Entry fees - 50/-
Raveena A — Google review
We had visited this small wax Museum located on the road to Tea Factory during our trip to Ooty 1st week of june in 2025. Entrance tickets are priced at ₹50 per person and for mobile photography priced at ₹10. The Museum is a small one showcasing wax idols of Mahatma Gandhi, Jesus Christ, Netaji Subhas Chandra, Sai Baba, Shivaji Maharaja and more. We did not visit the adjacent horror house.
ABHISHEK M — Google review
The museum houses life-size wax statues of famous personalities from history, culture, and politics, as well as some depictions of traditional Indian village life. The craftsmanship is decent, though not on the same level as international wax museums like Madame Tussauds. Still, it provides a good insight into art and creativity. The museum is compact, so you can explore it in about 30–45 minutes. It’s a nice stop for families and children, especially if you’re looking for something unique beyond nature spots. The entry fee is reasonable, and the location is easy to access from the main Ooty town. While it may not be a “must-visit,” it is worth checking out if you have extra time in your itinerary.
Sridhar S — Google review
It's a small wax museum run privately. Ticket price is on the higher side. Interested people can visit it.
Manab T — Google review
Ok ok…. Need major revamp. Rs50 per person charge is there.
Madhav K — Google review
its doubtfull that, are that statues really made of WAX ! Or making fool the tourists!! iam not sure those are made of WAX or not, because no choice to touch or observe them closely, I think it's just a looting the tourists
MR W — Google review
The tickets were reasonably priced at Rs 50, taking into account the significance of talent. However, the place is in need of better maintenance and improved lighting. On a positive note, they have an impressive display of wax statues portraying famous freedom fighters and renowned political leaders.
Narendran D — Google review
If you're short on time while exploring Ooty, you can skip the wax museum. It features roughly 20 to 25 statues, but unfortunately, many of them are not in good condition and lack proper maintenance. The experience doesn’t justify the ticket price, as there’s nothing particularly exciting or unique about it. Overall, it’s a very average attraction and not worth prioritizing during your visit.

Only thing is you should be able to converse in the local language - Tamil. They also have a sles counter... Selling a range of saplings... A definite must visit place... For a calm, serene time... With nature blooming....

I visited the Ooty Rose Garden with a lot of excitement because every time I’ve gone in the past, it was full of colourful roses and truly eye-relaxing views. But this time, I was honestly shocked. There were almost no roses at all, and the entire place looked empty and dull. It felt completely waste to visit. I even asked the workers there, and they said May is the peak season, so that’s why there were no blooms now. Maybe that is true, but still I didn’t expect the garden to look this plain. I went only because of the beautiful memories I had from previous visits, but this time it was very disappointing. I hope they maintain it better throughout the year or at least inform visitors about the off-season, because people travel a long way expecting to see roses.

North Indian restaurant
Ponmari Restaurant is a North Indian restaurant with an excellent location in Ooty. The food is very tasty, and the staff are sweet and polite. However, the housekeeping could do with more manpower to keep things clean.
I am very happy that I visited this Restaurant. Mr.Somasundar the Owner of this Property is a very good and down to earth person. The food is very good and well Ambient. I am one happiest customer. He also guided me on the Ooty Tour and and places to visit. The stay is fantastic. I would highly recommend this Restaurant who want very good food, ambience and warm welcome. The stay in the Hotel Sunset Valley is also very good and neatly managed with a very good service.

The restaurant may seem very much like a 5 star hotel but most of the food are not available. And at the same time to get your ordered food it takes more than 30 mins (as included in the picture majority are waiting for food even though they reached way early).they only serve limited amount of food and have high price on them too. The restaurant staff doesn't give the priority to the customer as expected. Overall wouldn't visit this restaurant if you are someone expecting to enjoy food and time with your family or friends.

Stayed at Ponmari Residency and found it to be decent for a short stay. The rooms were fairly clean and spacious, though the interiors felt a bit dated and could use some refurbishment. The staff were polite but service was sometimes slow, especially in the restaurant. The food at the in-house restaurant was okay—some dishes were good, while others were quite average in taste. Location-wise, the hotel is convenient and close to main attractions, which was a plus. Overall, it’s an acceptable option if you’re looking for a budget-friendly place, but don’t expect anything too fancy.

Worst then train’s Rs.50/- Biriyani. Charged 220. Don’t eat here. I will never have food in my rest of life or will not recommend to anyone.

"Ponmari Restaurant in Ooty was a letdown. The food was tasteless and overpriced, and the service was poor. Our server seemed overwhelmed, and it took ages to get our order. Disappointing experience overall. Unless they revamp their menu and service, I'd advise exploring other dining options in Ooty."

This review is about the staff's behavior, not the food. We had to make an emergency stop because my sister was very sick with diarrhea and urgently needed a restroom. We politely explained the medical situation, and a staff member allowed her to use the facilities. To our shock, after she came out, the staff's attitude completely changed. They rudely demanded we pay ₹100 just for using the washroom. We reminded them that in India, it is a social responsibility and considered a punishable offense to deny a woman access to a washroom in an emergency. They did not care about the situation, only about the money. To end the horrible confrontation, we paid the ₹100 and made sure to get a receipt. This restaurant showed a complete lack of basic human decency and respect for women.

This restaurant is really spacious and well maintained. It's looks really beautiful too. Tried their Mushroom roast ( dosa with masala mushroom filling) and was like ok ok.. The mushroom pieces were too small which I didn't personally like, should have been bigger. Their tea is also pretty decent with decent sides. So anywhere near Ooty town, you can definitely try this spot. They have Buffet break options tooo
SAURAV B — Google review
After seeing the Google reviews, we decided to visit this place. They serve both veg and non-veg food, and we tried the non-veg dishes in the lunch time, it was a disappointing/worst experience. Because of the crowd they converted a meeting hall into a dining area and quickly cleaned it before asking us to sit. The receptionist just sat quietly while people were waiting and searching for tables. The food seemed to be prepared in a hurry and was not properly cooked. The prices are like a star hotel, but the quality and quantity are not even close to roadside food. Better to avoid , waste of money and not hygiene food and the location. If you don't have a option to search location , then u try here.

Arab restaurant
Angaara Restaurant in Ooty offers a comfortable and elegant dining experience with scenic backgrounds, making it a favorite among travelers. The restaurant is known for its unbeatable hospitality and a wide variety of non-vegetarian tandoori and curry dishes to satisfy meat cravings. The decor is a unique blend of vintage and modern styles, with indoor and outdoor seating options available.
We ordered chicken hyderabad biriyani, plain rice, mutton rogan Josh, chicken angaara. Food was very tasty. Quality & quantity both were good. Ambience was good. Stuffs are very polite and cooperative.
Pallabi M — Google review
Angaara offers a good dining experience overall. The Butter Garlic Prawns were absolutely out of this world — a must-try! While the rest of the dishes were quite good, it was disappointing that none of the items from their Arabic menu were available during my visit. Still, a place worth visiting for tasty food and solid service.
Adhil R — Google review
The Ambience is nice but the food is below average. The expectations with the brand name for food is done not reached. Need improvement in the taste. We have ordered fried rice which tastes like normal white rice only.
Abeed S — Google review
Visited this place recently and had a mixed experience. We started off with a few appetizers - they were okay, nothing that really stood out. But the main course was a bit of a letdown, especially the Paneer Angara. It just didn’t hit the mark, the flavours felt off and it lacked that balance you’d expect from the dish. That said, not everything was a miss! The Lemon Coriander Soup was honestly the highlight of the meal. Super refreshing and packed with flavour definitely something I’d recommend trying if you visit. Overall, an average experience with a couple of bright spots.
Aryan — Google review
Visited Angaara Restaurant in Ooty and honestly, the overall experience was not satisfying. 🍲 Clear Soup – The soup was just average. Nothing special in flavour or presentation. 🍛 Chicken Biryani (₹400) – Completely not worth the price. Taste was below average, and the chicken pieces were very rubbery, making it unpleasant to eat. 🥗 Curd Salad for biriyani – Extremely sour, couldn't enjoy even a few bites. 🍗 Tandoori Chicken – Average taste. The mint chutney served as a dip was so sour that it was almost inedible. Chilly Chicken – This was the only dish that was actually good. Well-cooked and full of flavour. 🚨 Hygiene Issue – When the plates were first served, they had a strong unpleasant smell. Requested a new one – even the second plate had the same issue. After asking again, finally got a proper plate after 15–20 minutes. This was a major letdown and shows lack of basic hygiene. 🚗 Parking Problem – No on-site parking. You’ll have to walk 200 meters to reach the nearest paid parking (₹50/hour), which is highly inconvenient, especially in a tourist place like Ooty. ⭐ Final Verdict: 2/5
NithiN N — Google review
Everything about this place was just right. Good quality food, good portion size, and everything was delicious! We tried the chicken chettinad, chicken Angara, naan and ghee rice. Everything tasted very nice, we even had their brownies, which was also quite nice The service was good, didn't have to wait for too long. Slightly on the pricier side, but it's like a solid choice for a good meal, especially while you're travelling The ambience was quite nice too, and the place was kept neat and clean. We were overall very happy with everything!

Some waiter's action were not good and they also missed a item that I ordered. Rest the Food and ambience were awesome, also the manager himself visited every table for feedback.

We came all the way from Mysore to Ooty with a big group of 25 family members to celebrate our cousin’s anniversary — specifically to dine at this hotel, and it truly lived up to its legacy :) Manager Zuhaib Khan and his team made us feel completely at home and quickly arranged the entire top floor just for us. There were kids in the group who were a bit loud at times, but the staff stayed friendly and welcoming throughout. The ambiance was lovely, prices were reasonable, and the food was fantastic. Biryani was a crowd favourite, desserts were delightful, and the chefs were happy to tweak dishes to suit our taste. A truly memorable experience!

Kailash Parbat - Pure Vegetarian Restaurant is a popular dining spot in Ooty, offering a wide range of delectable vegetarian dishes. The restaurant boasts a refreshing and beautifully crafted interior, providing an excellent ambiance for diners. With a focus on hygiene and presentation, the restaurant serves delicious North Indian cuisine with attentive service. Additionally, Kailash Parbat provides ample parking space, making it convenient for visitors to dine at this bustling market location.
Kailash Parbat never disappoints. Good ambience and generous staff. Quick serving and good quality and tasty food. You don’t feel heavy after eating. If you are a pure vegetarian then this place is one of the best you can go to. Cost is slightly on the higher side but the quality here is worth it. Got a complementary dessert too !

I can say its best vegetarian restaurant in ooty as of now. Loved all the varieties we ordered and staff is prompt n helpful. Serving customers with a gentle smile on face. Loved the taste of food ( though we ordered chats n savouries both the time) but it was upto the mark. They were surprising guestures by giving complimentary food items. Their staff Mr. Abdur rehman ( if i remember correctly) was great at serving people. All other staff were equally great 👍. Kids loved it too.

Had a great vegetarian meal at Kailash Parbat, Ooty. The Palak Paneer was rich and flavorful with soft paneer and fresh spinach gravy. Loved the Butter Roti – soft and just the right amount of butter. The Veg Soup was light, warm, and comforting, especially in the Ooty weather. Clean place, quick service, and good vibes overall. Worth a visit for North Indian food lovers!

Food is tasty. This is perhaps one of the few authentic North Indian flavours in Ooty. Service was excellent and Mr. Anurag Singh ensured that we get food on time. While we were waiting for food, he engaged us by explaining the history of the restaurant. A very warm experience and I am sure I will come back multiple times.
Dileep M — Google review
Absolutely terrible experience with Kailash Parbhat, Ooty. I placed two separate orders, and both were disappointing in different ways — clearly showing this place has zero control over quality or hygiene. For the first order, I had ordered paranthas with dahi for my sick senior parents. What we received was frozen yogurt in both containers instead of fresh dahi. It was rock solid and completely inedible — not something you expect from a restaurant that’s supposed to care about its customers, especially when the meal was for unwell elders. Still, I decided to let it go and gave them another chance, assuming it might have been a one-time issue. But for the second order, things got even worse. This time, I found a long hair in the food (photo attached). That’s not just disappointing — it’s disgusting and absolutely unhygienic. How can a place serve food in such condition? It’s clear there’s no basic cleanliness or quality check happening in their kitchen. Finding a hair in food is bad enough, but it’s even more infuriating when you realize you trusted them again after a bad first experience. This is pure negligence and complete disregard for food safety. If I could give zero stars, I would. Kailash Parbhat Ooty needs a serious inspection by health authorities. I’ll never be ordering from here again and strongly urge others to stay far away from this restaurant if you care about hygiene, quality, or basic decency in food service.
Vivek J — Google review
Horrible food. No taste and no flavour profile whatsoever. No courtesy to fill up water glasses. Had to ask multiple times. We ordered papad which didnt arrive even after the main course. Confused staff thought its a fresh order, staff was clueless. Coming to the food, it was rly bad. I mean basic gravies arent even that difficult. We ordered jalfrezi veg which was so sweet it felt like a dessert. Thanfully they replaced it with veg kadai which had uncooked masala. The paneer butter masala was nothing like the name suggests. We ordered three gravies at exorbitant price, lets just say we ate till we felt tummy is sufficiently stuffed and left. Ended up going to another restaurant because of the bad experience here.

Tamilnadu Tourism Boat House in Ooty is a popular destination for tourists, offering activities such as paddleboating and rowing on a scenic lake. The area also features the Doddabetta Peak, Government Rose Garden, Nilgiri Mountain Railway Line, and other attractions. Built by John Sullivan, the boat house provides a serene environment surrounded by eucalyptus trees. Nearby, visitors can explore the Mini Garden with its amusement park and toy train for children.
Ooty Lake is a must-visit destination in Ooty! I had a wonderful experience enjoying the serene beauty of the lake and boating with friends and family. The place is well maintained – the surroundings are clean, and the facilities provided for visitors are excellent. I especially appreciated the standardised boating rates clearly displayed by the authorities. This transparency made the experience more comfortable, and there was no need to worry about hidden charges. The staff were courteous, and the overall management by Tamil Nadu Tourism was impressive. Highly recommend visiting Ooty Lake for a relaxing and memorable experience. Perfect for families and nature lovers!
Habeeb — Google review
Visited the Tamil Nadu Tourism Boat House during my trip to Ooty. The location is beautiful, right by the scenic Ooty Lake, and the surroundings are quite peaceful. The boating itself was enjoyable — we tried the pedal boat and had a relaxing 30-minute ride on the water. However, the lake water was quite dirty, with visible litter and a foul smell in some areas. It took away from the natural beauty and made the experience feel a bit disappointing. The boats themselves were functional, but some looked like they needed maintenance. The surroundings, including the waiting area and restrooms, weren’t very clean either. It’s a decent spot for a quick visit, especially if you're already at Ooty Lake, but the authorities really need to improve cleanliness and maintenance to make it more enjoyable for tourists. For now, it’s an okay experience — worth visiting if you’re in Ooty, but don’t set your expectations too high.

The Boat House in Ooty is one of the most popular tourist attractions and a must-visit for anyone exploring the hill station. The lake itself is scenic, surrounded by eucalyptus trees and lush greenery, making it a pleasant spot to relax. 🚤 Boating Experience: You can choose from pedal boats, row boats, and motor boats. The boating is enjoyable, especially in the mornings or evenings when the weather is cool. Safety measures like life jackets are provided, which is reassuring. Overall Experience: A good place to spend a couple of hours with family or friends, enjoying boating and the calm surroundings. It’s one of those “classic Ooty” spots that every visitor tries at least once.
Sridhar S — Google review
The Boat House at Ooty Lake offers a lively, festive experience and is a favorite among families and tourists. Boating options include pedal, row, and motorboats, with safety measures like jackets in place. The area is surrounded by lush trees, has a toy train, mini amusement park activities, and multiple food courts serving snacks like Aloo Paratha and Pav Bhaji. Photographers will enjoy the picturesque spots, though the water itself is not particularly clear. Weekends can be overly crowded, and staff behavior at the entrance or ticket counters sometimes disappoints visitors. It's recommended for families, groups, and anyone looking to relax amidst scenic views and vibrant local energy.

It's an amazing place to visit. The Ooty lake is one of the best lakes I have ever visited. The boating area is also quite large, and the nature is attractive. It was foggy on 11th Nov, 2025 the time we visited. Other activities are closed but the boating experience is worth it with the view.

Ooty lake is a significant tourist attraction in the Nilgiri Hills. Boating is the prime attraction here. Tourists can hire paddle boats, row boats and motor boats from the Boat house. There's an amusement park adjacent to the lake which includes a mini toy train ride around the Ooty lake. A song from the popular Bollywood movie Maine Pyar Kiya was famously shot here.
Manab T — Google review
Visited Ooty Boat House and had a great experience. The lake view is beautiful and boating options like pedal, row and motor boats are available. The place also has a small garden, children’s rides and food stalls. Gets crowded during peak time, but overall a must-visit attraction in Ooty.

Water & Amusement Parks
Thunder World, also known as Dinosaur Park, is a themed amusement park located in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. It features the popular Jurassic Jungle with lifelike models of dinosaurs and other attractions like the Haunted House and Vortex ride. The park uses multi-dimensional projection technology to create illusions that reconstruct the age of dinosaurs. With sections such as World of Spirits and Vortex, visitors can enjoy 3D paintings with scary effects.
First things first, this is a privately owned property so the cost will be high. But if you have kids between the ages 5-15, they will enjoy every bit of it. And since the price is high, the place is not crowded so you can enjoy without any inconvenience. We reached there at 10am and felt the whole property was ours :) as other people started to come after 11am. 3D art museum, wax museum, dinosaur park, haunted house, amazon jungle, dashing cars, kids rides etc are good. Snow world is also nice but the jackets and gloves provided are not of good quality. 5D show is just okay. Overall, visit this place if you have kids and are okay to shell out 650/- per head. Couples without kids, bachelors, senior citizens can skip this.
Srinivas C — Google review
Visited Thunder World with my kids and it was an alright experience. The best thing was Snow world, Dinosaur park & Third eye and rest all was OK. The worst among them are Vortex and infinity because they are nothing. Overall a good place for the kids to enjoy here. The ticket prices are ₹650 for Adults and ₹550 for kids.
Sanjeev T — Google review
Ticket price for this place is 650 per person which covers 11 activities including wax museum, snow world, 5D show and couple of horror related shows along with Crazy car. Wax museum was good. One can take lots of pics with wax celebrities. Snow world experience was below average, accessories (jacket, gloves, shoes) provided were not good. One can take decent pictures though for social media😅. 5-D show: It had to be the worst experience. Staff was least bothered to provide proper instructions. Safety belt should be worn tightly( keep in mind in case one plans to visit). After the show was over, whole body was paining. Crazy car: This is the experience which I enjoyed. One can expect to cover it in an hour or so.Overall for Rs 650, it was okay experience. Kids might enjoy it a great deal.

One of the worst place for family tourists. They don’t know how to behave with kids. Worst and rash behaviour by the staffs and owner. I don’t recommend this place to anyone especially family people. Because after you spend thousands of rupees you will be treated like beggars. And also all the available options are not worth the price. Mist of the machines and kids toys are not working. One lady behaved like goonda with the kids. When i try to ask about this with the manager he also behaved like a local goonda. We totally disappointed by their behaviour. Staffs should know how to treat tourists and their owners also should train them. But here they behaves like goondas. Worst worst worst

Ooty Lake is one of the most iconic attractions in the hill station of Ooty, and it offers a pleasant escape for anyone looking to unwind amid nature. Surrounded by eucalyptus trees and gentle hills, the lake has a charming calmness that makes it perfect for a leisurely afternoon. The highlight here is boating—whether you choose a pedal boat, rowboat, or motorboat, the experience is peaceful and scenic. The cool breeze, misty air, and reflections of the surrounding greenery make the ride especially enjoyable. The area around the lake also has small snack stalls, a children’s play area, and a few fun attractions, making it a good spot for families and couples alike. That said, the place can get crowded during peak tourist seasons, and some areas near the entrance feel a bit commercial. But once you’re actually on the water, the beauty of Ooty shines through. Overall, Ooty Lake is a relaxing and picturesque stop—ideal for anyone visiting the “Queen of the Hills” and wanting a quick dose of natural charm mixed with light recreation.

Ooty Lake is a captivating man-made expanse, established in 1824, lying gracefully amidst the Nilgiri hills. Its 65-acre spread is framed by lush Eucalyptus groves and offers a central, picturesque retreat from the town's hustle. It serves as the strategic heart of Ooty's tourist attractions. The primary draw is the Boathouse, managed by the TTDC, which offers a range of water sports. Visitors can choose between leisurely pedal boats for self-rowing, traditional row boats with a designated driver, or swift motorboat rides, depending on their group size and preference. Boating charges are tiered with a minimal entry fee (around ₹15 per person). For example, a popular 4 seaters pedal boat ride costs approximately ₹260 plus a refundable deposit for a 30 minutes duration, offering an affordable family activity. Safety is prioritized; life jackets are mandatory and provided for all riders, ensuring a secure experience on the water. It’s important to heed instructions and avoid standing up to maintain stability and fully enjoy the tranquil mountain breeze. Beyond the water, the area features a bustling small amusement park and various local stalls selling goods like eucalyptus oil and homemade chocolates. Despite the seasonal crowds, Ooty Lake remains a scenic, essential stop for visitors to the Queen of Hill Stations.

I went there without any expectations and was skeptic about the ticket price ₹100, but it came out to be worth it. There's a lot of spots inside which has its own unique vibe. It's a very nice place for families, for taking photos since there numerous places to take a picture. The place was clean and well maintained. I went on a weekday and it was not crowded. Some construction was still going on but the planning is truly good. The only problem we faced is that they only accept cash as payment for ticket, which is hard to arrange. I went there without any big expectations since it was my first visit, and honestly, when I saw the entry ticket price (₹100), I thought it might not be worth it. But the moment I entered, I was astonished! 😍 The garden is absolutely beautiful — well-maintained, peaceful, and full of colourful flowers, creative layouts, and lovely photo spots. The suspension bridge and wide views make it even more special. Totally worth the visit! 🌸 Just a small tip: wear comfortable shoes because there’s a lot of walking inside, and you won’t even realize how much time you spend exploring. Overall, a refreshing and delightful experience — definitely recommend visiting this place if you’re in Ooty! 💚 Go early in the day (right when it opens) to avoid crowds and get good light for photos. • Wear comfortable walking shoes because of slopes and possibly uneven pathways. • For families or older visitors: pick a route that avoids the steepest parts, rest on benches where available. • If you’re going during bloom-season (flower show etc) check the garden’s website or local news for any special events, extra crowds or advance bookings. The Karnataka Siri Horticulture Garden is worth a visit — especially if you enjoy nature, photography, or want a relaxing outing in Ooty. It may not offer extremely high thrills, but offers a quality, pleasant experience. Just go prepared for a bit of walking and set expectations accordingly.

Karnataka Garden in Ooty is a very lush and green place with a huge open space to explore. They even have mini cars/shuttle service for elderly people, which is very helpful. The garden is well-maintained and very clean. The big hanging bridge inside is a major attraction and very enjoyable to walk on. We loved the place and spent more than 3 hours there without getting bored. Overall, a beautiful and relaxing spot—highly recommended! 🌿😊

Karnataka Garden in Ooty is a green oasis with ample space to explore. The Electric shuttle service for elderly people is a thoughtful touch but charged Rs. 200 it's very high. The garden is impeccably maintained and spotless. Hanging bridge is a highlight, Flowers every where. The entry fee is Rs. 100 per head and it's too high.

This place offers a great scenic view. Just loved the place as it is. But they need to maintain the washroom it's too nasty, and unbreathable. They charge 100 rupees per person for the entry but if u need the electric vehicle they charge 200 per person extra and they give a small tour of the garden which is expensive but not worth 300 per person. The location is amazing and offers a joyful experience. Lot of plenty space.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Unforgettable Stay in the Heart of Ooty — Genuine Hospitality with a Stunning Lake View! Our stay at this hotel was absolutely amazing! The place is breathtakingly beautiful, offering a spectacular view of the main Ooty Lake — it truly feels like you’re on top of the sky. The comfort was excellent, and the entire property was hygienic, very clean, and perfectly systematic. Every small detail was so well taken care of, which really shows the hotel’s commitment to quality and guest satisfaction. The staff were extremely polite, helpful, and always smiling — their warmth added such a wonderful charm to the entire environment. Each one was well-groomed and professional, making the ambiance even more elegant and pleasant. The food was delicious, and the service was prompt and up to date. Overall, our stay felt like we were being lovingly pampered throughout. A special mention to the night manager, who always greeted my son with a bright smile and gifted him different magnets every evening — such a heartwarming gesture! My son was so attached that he was truly unhappy to leave. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for comfort, cleanliness, beauty, and genuine hospitality in the heart of Ooty.

I honestly didn’t expect the hotel to be this good it truly exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help with just one call. The manager deserves special appreciation for being so understanding, cooperative, and professional in every way.The owner is so humble too. The service quality is top-notch, and what you get for the price is absolutely unbeatable. It’s rare to find such a perfect combination of comfort, care, and value. Highly recommended — I would love to come back again!

Visited the restaurant attached to the hotel. Restaurant on the 4th floor offers both indoor and outdoor dining options which is a plus. Located centrally, directly opposite Ooty lake, makes this hotel/restaurant easy to access. The hotel is on par with premium one's, however, it has its downsides too. Food can take quite some time after ordering (in my case, it was probably 40-45 mins before we were served despite being simple veg and onion pakoda). We had ordered a cup of coffee, maggie and pakodas as there was nothing else available for snacks even though it was 6:30 pm and dinner menu would be open only after 7:30 pm. Though we were the only customers (hence, no crowd or rush)service time was long (it is expected if the dishes served requires such a wait time, but for frying onion pakodas, it was slightly disappointing). I'd not rate the snacks as best as roadside stalls offer better taste comparatively for 5-6 times lesser price. The two cons were the location which offered views of the lake and Ooty centre, plus the politeness of the staff. Apart from that, this restaurant is a skip.

😊😊😊The cleanest hotel I’ve seen; washroom was neat and very hygienic Each room gets a private Wi-Fi login (ID & password). Fine restaurant on the top floor – impressive taste in all items, including breakfast, you don't need to look around for the test for sure. If breakfast included different menu every day, all delicious…:)

Best hotel in ooty. Great hospitality. Value for money. Staff would always greet you with a smile. Breakfast was awesome. Wide spread buffet breakfast. Would recommend everyone to stay. Good lake view rooms. On the 4th floor they have an awesome common balcony for everyone where u can relax , chill & have great pictures

We stayed here for 3 nights in executive non-view rooms (basic). Room is small & basic. Even kettle is not there in room. Location is good. Walking distance from ooty lake. On request, they gave me extra bed for my 5 years old child without extra charge. They have good restaurant indoor as well as outdoor (for view). Breakfast has lots of options & was good. They have pure vegetarian restaurant which is heaven for pure veg people. However pricing is very very high. Example - 70-80rs. For chapati & add 18% GST on it makes it even more pricier. They must think about pricing appropriately. Also no pure veg restaurant is available in nearby atleast 1 km.

The restaurant boasts an extensive à la carte menu featuring everything from North Indian to South Indian and Chinese cuisine, ensuring there's something for every palate.
Good tasty food at Mahindra Derby green. Resort You can choose to have the buffet or go for ala carte Excellent service Fresh tasty food Great portions totally value for money

This place is situated in the midst of the city, and provides a good view of Ooty. This restaurant is a part of the cottage styled hotel, and has some good cuisines which taste good. Although, the prices of the items are on the higher side and the number of items available is limited. They serve both buffet (with less items available though) and Ala carte, and their staff are polite. The place is well maintained and has a good ambience. I had chicken biryani and paneer 65 here, both of which tasted good. The biryani was prepared well and had good number of chicken pieces, and so did the paneer 65. Overall, it was a good experience here with the only feedback I would provide is about the prices of their cuisines, however, one can have a good experience here, especially if they're staying in their hotels.
Sandeepon D — Google review
We had vegetarian buffet. Which was good! Ample variety ! They asked us if we need anything other than buffet items. And did provided our choice. Staff was super courteous and helpful. Location of Club Mahindra resort where this restaurant is awesome. Nice view of valley in misty clouds. A lot of salads and desserts. Bottle gaurd halwa was amazing. I tried Chilly Pumpkin for first time. Absolutely awesome! I wish you are lucky to get it when you visit them.

Club Mahindra - Derby green, We enjoyed our food, as we're localities we don't often visit here. But we got a chance for one afternoon and had panner tikka and veg manchow soup, both tasted good. The price is a little higher but it's okay for its standard. You can try their items if you'd love to give a treat to your taste buds.

Firstly, people should know that this restaurant is based inside Club Mahindra resort. It’s difficult to spot it using the Maps location without this detail. Also, the food here is amazing and priced reasonably. Tomato basil soup is a must try.

Food quality is acceptable if we compare it with other nearby restauranta. Staff and service are exceptional and they are great. Ambience including valley view point. Good place.

This is the in-house restaurant of Club mahindra derby greens ooty. While on workation here, we opted for 3 meal combo here and being vegetarians, this is one of the good decisions We took. The buffet has ample vegetarian options with usually 4 subzis or more and Daals. The most delightfully surprising part was the numerous and tasty eggless desserts and cakes (not sure if we were lucky to visit them during time of more vegetarian crowd). They were also very accommodating to our dietary constraints and made customizations to buffet items too when requested. FYI: Do ask for masala Ginger tea when around!

Cafe
Le Cafe in Ooty, Tamil Nadu is a family-friendly open-air cafe with a beautiful scenic view and an abundance of flowers. The staff is friendly and the service, although a bit slow, is warm and prompt. The ambiance is great for hanging out and chilling for long periods. While the food was delicious, including French fries, garlic bread, chicken rolls, pizza, and coffee, some suggest adding pleasant instrumental music instead of loud music.
Recommend - This delightful restaurant located in Nilgiri Mountains offer a great selection of fare. We went full vegetarian and were pleasantly surprised by modern takes on old dishes such as the falafel sliders (recommended). The outdoor seating inviting and let's you enjoy the cool mountain air. The vibe is a little funky with soft bluesy music playing.
Glenn G — Google review
We visited Le Cafe for lunch and tried the Pulled-Pork Sliders, Grilled Lamb Burger, and a Cafe Latte. The outdoor seating area is a nice touch, offering a pleasant ambiance. The Pulled-Pork Sliders (served as a set of three) had a unique tangy, sweet, and mildly spicy flavor. While the pork was well-cooked and flavorful on its own, the overall dish felt a bit disjointed. The Lamb Burger featured a juicy patty but could have used more seasoning. Both dishes were served with fries on the side, which were tasty. The Cafe Latte was well-prepared and enjoyable. Service was good and reasonably quick. However, while the quality of the food was decent, the portions were relatively small for the price point, which felt quite steep. There is a shared parking area available on the premises, which is convenient. Overall, a decent experience, though a bit overpriced for what’s offered.
Rutuja — Google review
This place has great ambience. The detailing on the food and taste are great too, but the menu is a little expensive. Parking space is available. There is a super mart called "Little Earth" close by where you can find the regular finds as other super marts, but this also includes some stationary and foods that 90s kids would relate to. There is also perfume stall outside the super mart where you can customize accordingly to your liking.
Rama K — Google review
Each time we come here, it gets worse. First the service quality was poor. Then the food quality deteriorated. Now they just serve inedible, burnt food. And when you point out that the food was burnt, the staff just stares at you, and then all the staff stares at you, as though taking issue with burnt food is a crime. The service quality here and at periodic table is just atrocious. Coffee was good though.
Govindan K — Google review
One of the finest Italian-style restaurants in Ooty. The food, ambience, and service were outstanding. A special mention to Riyashni, Piu, and Dhanam, who took excellent care of us throughout our visit.

This is a really good view spot in Ooty and a must visit, it is the tallest point in the Nilgiris. The experience was decent, first you are supposed to buy a ticket, but before you get in line for the ticket, you have to enter the market, which had clothes and souvenirs. There are may cameramen present there who will click and print photos on the spot. There is also a watchtower, which you can climb up to get a better view from the Peak. The road leading up to this peak is also scenic, with tall trees.

Tea Park, also known as Doddabetta Tea Park, is a picturesque attraction located near Doddabetta Peak in Ooty. This one-acre park offers stunning views of lush green tea plantations and well-maintained lawns for visitors to explore. Established around fifteen years ago, it provides an opportunity to learn about the journey of tea from the plantations to households while enjoying a cup of freshly brewed green tea.
What a beautiful park! Maintained so well. Clean and had pretty views of tea valleys. I wish i had known about this place earlier, could have skipped dottabetta peak and spent more time here. It was way toooo crowded there and we wasted time just to get a few pics on the peak. This park has great views and was so calm. It was not at all crowded even in peak season time. Kids had so much fun that we literally had to drag them back to leave.

Wax Museum & Chocolate Market

3.5
(2030)
Wax museum
Located in a 130-year-old ancient manor in Ooty, the Wax Museum is a must-visit tourist attraction. The museum features life-sized wax statues of prominent personalities such as Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, and A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, as well as replicas of traditional Indian villages and rural landscapes. Visitors can also explore other attractions in Ooty like Kotagiri trekking and a jeep safari at Nilgiri Reserve.
Nice place to visit with family and kids. The wax statues are old . Not really a youngster’s hangout spot, but great for a calm family outing
Mini M — Google review
I do not recommend this wax museum as it is very very small and will take not more than 5 mins to complete. Very few statues are there for that they charge ₹50 per person for entrance. Basically it is located in small market or complex where you can see multiple shops and people will insist you to go to the shops and purchase stuffs. Rather I would suggest to explore better wax museum to enjoy.
Ajit M — Google review
The Wax Museum was quite disappointing and honestly not worth the visit. The place is very small, with barely 15–20 wax statues, most of which don’t even look like they’re made of wax. Some of the figures were old and not well-maintained, making the entire experience underwhelming. The entry fee is ₹50 per person, and they even charge ₹10 extra if you want to take photos with your phone. Given how little there is to see, it didn’t feel worth the price. The museum is located in a small shopping complex, and the moment you step out, shopkeepers try to convince you to buy things, which makes it feel more like a tourist trap than an actual attraction. Unless you’re just curious and have time to kill, I wouldn’t recommend this place. There are much better places to visit in the area.
Rajat T — Google review
Tourist spot only for sale of chocolate, bakery items including ooty varkey, dress materials and other children items like toys etc. there is a saree shop which is cheating on the name of different varieties of sarees, the length of the saree is insufficient, only 5 metres ..which cannot be worn. They cheat by saying it is 6 meters etc. cost is also to be checked. Careful in this area
Ragu R — Google review
Don't waste your time here. Simply go to wax planet or other place. All wax statues are made by a private artist. Very limited number of wax statues. Entry ticket is 100. Chocolate factory is your run of the mill sugar stuff. Nothing special. You are better of going to Moddys Good parking space is available.
OG T — Google review
Housed in a 130-year-old colonial mansion, Wax World offers a nostalgic charm. Its collection primarily focuses on key figures from Indian history, including freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi and Bal Gangadhar Tilak, as well as revered personalities such as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and Mother Teresa. A unique feature of this museum is its depiction of rural Indian life through wax models, showcasing scenes of villagers engaged in traditional activities.

There is a 50 rupee entry fee and about 20 wax figurines. Not financially worthwhile. Not much to see. Though it's not a large museum, it does feature some excellent wax figures. The experience was passable. Not much to see. It's just a complete waste of time.

There is a great effort put in ,and the statues are all really nice. Just 50rs for the entry fee. The messages imparted are valuable ,and hence a nice suggestion to visit with kids while in Ooty. The view opposite is spectacular of the city cuddled within the mountains. The place is well maintained and has lavish parking, but it has a potential for a lot more development.

Government Museum

Museum
Nestled near the picturesque Ooty Botanical Gardens, the Government Museum is a delightful gem that invites visitors to explore the vibrant cultural and natural heritage of the Nilgiri region. Established in 1989, this charming museum serves as a window into local history, showcasing an impressive array of tribal artifacts, archaeological treasures, and exhibits dedicated to the area's unique flora and fauna.
Beautiful place to visit if you art enthusiast. Most important thing I like about the government museum is the building which is completely made of stone. Building architecture is excellent and one does not stop looking at it again and again. Construction of such type of building is impossible in modern world. The building was constructed in early part of 19th century possibly in 1823. The museum depicts tribal culture particularly those of the todas. Other artifacts depicting local culture and history are also kept in the museum. Must visit site.

Visited the Stone House Museum in Ooty and had a lovely time! It’s a compact but well-curated place showcasing tribal culture, colonial history, and Nilgiri wildlife. Highlights include Toda artifacts, old photographs, and preserved animal specimens—perfect for anyone curious about Ooty’s roots. The museum is kid-friendly, and there’s plenty to see for both adults and children. However, be aware there’s a staircase to the upper floor, so not fully accessible for elderly visitors or those with mobility challenges. There’s a small entry fee, and photography requires an extra ticket. Also, no restroom facilities inside, so please plan ahead. ✅ Cleanliness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ✅ Exhibit Quality: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ✅ Accessibility: ⭐️⭐️ ✅ Family-Friendliness: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ✅ Overall Experience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A charming, quick stop to get a glimpse into Ooty’s history and heritage!

Visited today good knowledge of history and u can see the physical preserved items which tribe used. Must visit once if you are in ooty. Ticket Price is 10rs

The museum had only a few exhibits, so there wasn’t much to see overall. It’s not something I would strongly recommend, but if you have some free time and happen to be nearby, you can consider visiting it once. It might be worth a quick stop, but don’t expect too much.

🪨 Stone House, Ooty – A Glimpse into Colonial History! 🏛️ Our visit to the Stone House Museum in Ooty was a truly enriching experience. As seen in the photo, the majestic stone architecture and vintage charm of this historical building immediately take you back in time. Built during the British colonial period, this is one of the oldest British bungalows in Ooty — a true heritage site. 🌲 Surroundings & Ambience Set amidst lush greenery and the cool, misty climate of Ooty, the museum’s atmosphere is peaceful and pleasant. The stone pathways, beautiful lawn, and old-world design all contribute to a nostalgic and serene feeling. 🖼️ What to Expect Inside Inside, you’ll find antique furniture, historical artifacts, and photographs that tell the story of Ooty’s colonial past and local culture. For those interested in history, architecture, or just looking to explore something unique, this place is a must-visit. 👨‍💼 Our Suggestion While the museum is well maintained, we believe that the staff could improve their interaction with visitors to make the experience even more informative and welcoming. 📸 Overall, Stone House is a perfect spot for families, history buffs, and photographers alike. We highly recommend including it in your Ooty itinerary!

Place of worship
Nestled in the picturesque hill station of Ooty, the Murugan Temple, Elk Hill is a serene and spiritual destination. The temple features a magnificent 40-foot golden statue of Lord Murugan, reminiscent of the one in Kuala Lumpur. Set amidst lush pine and eucalyptus forests, this tranquil spot offers visitors a peaceful retreat to seek blessings and capture stunning photographs.
A vibrant and scenic Murugan temple located atop a hill—truly a feast for the eyes and soul. The natural beauty and pleasant climate around the temple make every visit special. I’ve been coming here since 2016, and it never fails to uplift. However, at some points, the route to this temple can be a bit challenging, so plan accordingly. A must-visit for both spiritual seekers and nature lovers.

I feel before you go to any place. You have to take permission of the local God and then start the trip. Likewise, we started our Ooty trip by visiting this temple first. Very, very nice temple, calm environment. Nice view at the top. Not much of stairs to climb not that difficult

Definitely worth visiting at least once!

Visited the Murugan Temple in the morning and had a peaceful experience. The temple is clean, well-maintained, and offers a beautiful view of the city skyline from the hilltop. While there are quite a few steps to climb, the effort is worth it. It wasn’t too crowded, and the main sanctum opens at 11:30 AM, good to keep in mind when planning your visit. There’s no entry fee, which is appreciated. A serene and spiritually uplifting place.

🌄 A Hidden Gem in the Hills – A Divine Experience at Murugan Temple I had the blessed opportunity to visit this serene Murugan Temple, beautifully nestled amidst misty hills and lush greenery. The temple’s architecture is stunning – vibrantly painted structures and a strikingly majestic golden Murugan statue overlooking the valley make this a visually divine experience. 🛕 Highlights & Specialties: Scenic Hilltop Location: Set against the backdrop of mist-covered mountains, the cool breeze and peaceful atmosphere instantly bring a sense of calm and spirituality. Colorful Gopurams & Steps: The multi-tiered steps leading up to the temple, with intricately painted Mandapams and shrines, add a unique charm. Climbing them is both a physical and spiritual journey. Golden Murugan Idol: A towering golden statue of Lord Murugan stands as the highlight — symbolizing strength, protection, and devotion. Tranquil Ambience: Far from city noise, the temple premises are ideal for meditation, prayers, and peaceful reflection. This is not just a place of worship but also a spiritual viewpoint and cultural treasure. Whether you're a devotee of Lord Muruga or a traveler seeking peace in nature, this temple is a must-visit spot. 🙏 Highly recommended for spiritual seekers, trekkers, and anyone wanting to reconnect with nature and inner calm.

Guests have had very positive experiences, praising the generous and helpful staff. The hotel's location close to the city center makes it convenient for exploring the area. Visitors recommend dining at the hotel, noting that the food surpasses that of other fancy restaurants.
I’m visiting Preethi Classic Tower on an official trip. I’ve been staying here for more than a week, and it has been a wonderful experience. The staff is very professional and handles everything well. The room cleaning service and the way they approach guests are also good The morning buffet is good, but there is need for improvement — especially in terms of variety. Check-in and check-out processes were smooth, especially thanks to the receptionist Swathi and the other two gentlemen. Overall, it has been a very good experience.

Worst ever experience. In my lifetime experience I have never seen a hotel who don’t even clean the room toilets. Ensure that your rooms and toilets are really cleaned before you enter, otherwise you will be using some else’s poop. And get “Sorry” as your complimentary. And off course will get Super garbage view from room don’t miss it. I usually don’t post reviews but for others awareness I have to do this.

The receptionist, Swathi, greeted us warmly and offered a refreshing lemon tea. It was so good that we even asked for the same drink again while checking out—it was the perfect touch to start and end the stay. The hospitality, cleanliness, and overall atmosphere of the hotel were excellent. Everything felt well taken care of, and the staff ensured a smooth and pleasant experience. I really appreciated the warmth and professionalism shown throughout my visit. I would highly recommend Preethi Classic Tower to anyone looking for a comfortable and memorable stay. The atmosphere is enhanced by soothing music and exquisite cutlery that adds to the charm.
Came for the soup, stayed for the feast! Loved the foods so much last night, we marched right back for lunch today. The Mutton Sukka, Kongu Biryani, and Chicken Stew were all top-notch—flavor-packed and super satisfying. Staff (Karhikeyan, Vijay) were lovely, and the ambience made us want to linger. Definitely a place worth coming back to (again and again)!

Great ambiance and service. The food was good. I recommend the steak, which is very flavourful. The steak was well done (you'll probably have to request if you want it medium rare) The burger patty was delicious. The rest, however, was meh and came with delicious potato wedges. The grilled garlic and lemon fish were good, too. The sides could have been a little more. The fish and chips came with regular processed french fries, which was a little disappointing considering the price point. I would would have preferred some better "chips" Will definitely go once more to try the other dishes.

Some of their best-sellers include the spicy chicken, corn and cheese momos. Visitors can also enjoy combo meals featuring a variety of dishes such as chicken szechwan rice, chicken chilli garlic rice, egg noodles, and American choupsey at reasonable prices.

The cafe offered decent vibes, creating a pleasant ambiance to relax. However, the food fell short of expectations. We tried the wood-fired pizza and pasta, but the flavors didn’t stand out, leaving much room for improvement in taste and quality. On a positive note, the staff were extremely cordial and attentive, ensuring a comfortable dining experience. Their hospitality was a highlight of the visit. While the service was commendable, the food quality is a crucial factor that needs enhancement to match the overall atmosphere. It’s a place with potential, but for now, it delivers an average culinary experience. Overall, it’s a 3/5 Star experience — decent for a casual visit, but not something that would draw you back for the food alone.

I walked-in by seeing the interior and ambience of the cafe from outside. And of course the wood oven for pizza. The food was not so great but ambience and staff is very courteous. Served well, and had taken extra care as I was a tourist. The pizza chef is sweet , we had good conversation about local culture and people. One can visit the cafe to have nice pizza. It is at commercial road. Where I one can have good walk through market and pick some local stuff.

I was born and brought up in Ooty, and whenever I visit this place, the food always tastes amazing; the pizza and pasta are good. The vibe is calm and pleasant, and the restaurant has a nostalgic 90's feel. However, during my last visit, I noticed it still looks the same. I wish they would renovate it to a more modern style while keeping that '90s touch. Also, the washrooms were not clean; please make sure proper hygiene is maintained.

Very tasty food and also reasonably priced. Ambience could do a bit of improvement. Place looked dark and old. We had the yummiest napolitan spaghetti. The spicy supreme veg pizza was a overly spicy for kids. Desserts were really yummy. We had brownies with ice cream and nuts

Ok, this is a difficult one. The servers/staff there were super polite and helpful. However, the ambiance feels...old. Not vintage, not classy..but old. The restaurant did not feel welcoming despite the best efforts from the staff. The food as well was OK at best. I ordered Aglio Oglio Sphagetti and what I got was hakka noodles with red chillies and vegetables topped with cheese. It tasted fine, but it was NOT pasta. It was noodle dish with cheese on top. I do not wish to assume much since it was my one and only visit there, but there is definitely a disconnect between what the restaurant claims to be <-> aspires to be <-> what it really is. Could have been much better considering it is situated at such a prime spot in market.

Nestled between Ooty and Thalakunda, the Pine Forest in Ooty is a picturesque destination that offers breathtaking views of the Nilgiri hills. This popular tourist spot has been featured in numerous films and is a favorite among nature lovers. The orderly arrangement of tall pine trees creates a mesmerizing scenic canvas that attracts visitors of all ages. Walking through the forest trails provides a serene escape from city life, with the added charm of a beautiful lake within its vicinity.
The Pine Forest in Ooty is a truly beautiful and serene spot, perfect for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts. We visited in August 2025, when the weather was pleasantly cool and the forest was at its greenest. The tall, lush pines create a magical atmosphere, and the beautiful green lake in the middle of the forest, surrounded by rolling hills, is an absolute treat for the eyes. The reflections of the trees on the calm water add to the charm, making it a perfect place to relax and soak in nature’s beauty. The entry fee is ₹40 per adult, with a separate charge if you’re bringing a camera. The only drawback is that the area has limited space, so it can feel a bit crowded during peak hours. Still, it’s well worth a visit for its scenery and peaceful vibe.

The entry ticket was only Rs. 30, which is excellent value. The forest itself is incredibly scenic, with tall pine trees that are perfect for photos and videos. We also saw many monkeys on the trees and along the path, which was a nice surprise. A bit further in, we discovered a beautiful lake. The view of the lake with the pine trees surrounding it was simply breathtaking. It added a whole new level of beauty to the visit. If you like adventure, you can try the horse ride for Rs. 200. Just remember that the forest closes strictly at 5:30 PM, so plan your visit accordingly. Overall, our last stop at the Pine Forest and its lake was a perfect and memorable end to our trip. We highly recommend it for its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere.

Peaceful Walk Among Tall Pines – A Must-Visit in Ooty The Pine Forest in Ooty is one of the most peaceful and scenic places I visited during my trip. As soon as you enter, you’re surrounded by tall, straight pine trees stretching up toward the sky, with the cool mountain breeze gently passing through. The sunlight filtering through the trees creates a magical atmosphere, perfect for photography or just quiet relaxation. The forest floor is covered in soft pine needles, and the scent of wood and soil makes the place feel fresh and calming. It’s a great spot to take a slow walk, enjoy the natural beauty, or simply sit and enjoy the view. I went during the afternoon, and the light through the trees looked amazing — almost like a movie scene. It’s also a popular place for film shoots, and once you visit, you’ll understand why. The location is clean and well-maintained, though the slope can be a bit steep in some areas, so comfortable shoes are a good idea. Overall, the Pine Forest is a must-visit attraction in Ooty — peaceful, scenic, and full of natural charm that captures the essence of the Nilgiris.

I visited the Pine Forest in Ooty, and it was truly a beautiful experience. The forest is filled with tall, majestic pine trees that create a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere. The cool breeze, natural fragrance of the woods, and the scenic beauty make it a perfect spot to relax and connect with nature. Walking among the towering trees feels calming, and it’s a great spot for photography as well. The entry fee is reasonable, and the area is well-maintained. I would recommend visiting in the morning or evening to enjoy the pleasant weather and avoid crowds. Overall, it’s a must-visit place in Ooty for nature lovers, photography enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a peaceful escape.

There's something so incredibly peaceful about walking through a pine forest. The air always feels so fresh and carries that distinct, invigorating scent. I love the way the sunlight filters through the tall trees, creating dappled patterns on the forest floor. It's the perfect place to just clear your head and enjoy a bit of nature's quiet beauty. I could spend hours just wandering around and soaking it all in.

Shooting Spot | Pine Forest

4.4
(850)
Shooting Spot | Pine Forest is a must-visit destination in Ooty, offering a magical forest experience with towering pine trees and breathtaking views. The location is perfect for nature lovers, providing an opportunity to enjoy the scenery next to the river and experience slight drizzling at the top of the mountain. Visitors can also opt for horse rides around the lake. However, some challenges include slippery pathways due to rain and soil erosion, as well as a lack of proper maintenance.
Quite a magical forest experience with huge pine trees. We sat at the lake and the view is breathtaking. Horses are there if anyone wants to take horse rides around the lake. Lake could be cleaned and maintained. As a request to visitors - dont be illiterate and spoil the beauty.
Biswajit P — Google review
Shooting Spot is a good location for photoshoot, video shoot, film shoot. There is nothing much more to see here else only big ground. Beautiful shooting spot uphill and the road is way long goes towards forests. Big track, ample space for enjoyment and picnic. It's a good spot for family entertainment. Entry ticket is bit expensive though as there is nothing much to see in shooting spot. Pine Forest on the other hand deserves a lot of appreciation for its beautiful lake embedded with dense Pine trees. It's a magical beauty. Beware of the monkeys though on the way.
Sohail S — Google review
This place as suggested is really beautiful covered completely with beautiful pine forest. You will feel you are in a movie while going on this road surrounded by pine forest on either side. You have an entrance fee here to get down at this point and go near a lake beyond the pine forest. You can park your vehicle on the road, you don't find any place to eat or drink here. It's a god spot to take some photographs, but be careful when you are going down the pine forest since its a downhill and a bit slippery.
Pragna N — Google review
Shooting spot and pine forest location would be right choice for nature lovers. It will be a nice experience with slight drizzling at top of the mountain. Must to visit and worth to reach the top and enjoy the whole view
Sakthi N — Google review
A must visit place approximately 8 km from Ooty town. The place provides a true and mesmerizing beauty of the mother nature along with a cool weather. It is a steep valley with dense pine tree vegetation and the there is a lake at the lowest point which adds to the beauty of the place. You can see monkeys with their kids which will be an attraction for your little ones in the team. The place itself is having a romantic feel and the place is recommended for spending some time with your family and loved ones. Climbing the hill back is a slightly a tedious job. There is an entry fee of 20 Rs. per person. The place deserves a four star rating but the place is destroyed by the undisciplined littering of waste due to lack of supervision and hence one star less leaving a room for improvement. The place needs more attention and the beauty needs to be maintained well.
V. N — Google review
The pine tree is the tallest among all others. It's very amusing to take a look at the scenery next to the river. Cons: The pathway is very slippery due to rain and soil erosion. Climbing up again to the road is very challenging and my heartbeat is so fast. The fees are collected for the entry but there is no proper maintenance.
Lava K — Google review
I would not refer to go here again because it is a tourist place very crowded and little bit dirty as well. But if you walk to right side of the entrance then you can be at your own peace where people are doing fishing not much noisy. If you go during week days it would be amazing sunset point but during weekends it's so crowded. Though I love the feeling of jungle and water body that was amazing. One can do fishing here.
Krishna S — Google review
Nice place with bad smelling and badly maintained lake at the end. Forest looks beautiful and the way to and from is inclined so u should have energy to go till the end and come out :). Be careful while moving inside the forest since there no concrete way. It is slippery. There is a horse riding and camera person near lake at the end of the forest.

Chocolate Museum

Chocolate factory
If you're heading to Pykara, make sure to stop by the Chocolate Museum for a delightful experience. This museum offers an insight into the chocolate-making process from bean to bar. You can explore various types of chocolates made with real cacao butter and cane sugar. The museum also provides a pleasant ambiance and is conveniently located on the way from Ooty to Mysore Road.
Been to this place a week back… The entry fee is 50 rupees that time and it was totally a worthy experience…their experienced guides tell you about the history of Choclate that dated back to 16th century and at last the complementary Choclate fountain cake is very tasty
Jogi K — Google review
Very innovative way of presenting chocolate story.. good chocolates
Kumaram M — Google review
This place is definitely worth a visit at least once. The ambience is nice, the concept is appealing, and they put effort into presenting themselves as different from others in the market. One of the main points they highlight is that they use pure cocoa butter for their chocolates, whereas, according to them, many others rely on vegetable oil or palm oil. While that sounds impressive and could justify a higher price to some extent, in my personal experience I honestly did not notice any major difference in taste or quality compared to what I’ve had elsewhere. The chocolates were good, but not outstanding enough to make me feel the premium pricing was justified. The biggest drawback for me is the cost. The prices here are significantly higher than what you’d expect, even if the ingredients are a little better. At the end of the day, as a customer, value for money matters, and I left feeling that the products didn’t really match the price tag. Because of that, I cannot rate this place more than 4 stars. It’s not bad by any means—the visit was fine, and I can appreciate their efforts—but unless the pricing becomes more reasonable, I don’t see myself returning frequently.
Vignesh E — Google review
Located on Gudalur Road, just outside Ooty, this place offers a wide variety of items to choose from—definitely worth the money. They proudly display a Guinness World Record at the entrance, and the chocolate factory-like ambience inside the store creates a unique and memorable shopping experience.

Well curated small museum about the history of chocolate. Entry fees: 100 per person. 15-20 mins guided tour inside. They provide complimentary chocolate by dipping it in the chocolate fountain, it's very tasty. Chocolates, choclate jewellery, spices, etc. are also available for sale here. Chocolates are expensive but are rich in taste.

Nothing much to do here. They have a few exhibits that detail the process of making chocolates from Cocoa pods. The entry fee is ₹20 for adults. They provide one sample for each ticket purchased. The staff are nice and answer any questions you may have. They have a shop with a few varieties on sale but are priced quite high. There is parking available next to the Museum.

The Ooty Golf Course is a serene 21-hole golf course located on the rolling Wenlock Downs, around 7000ft above sea level. Managed by the Gymkhana Club in Ooty, it spans across 193.56 acres and offers picturesque views of Ooty from the highest point in the Nilgiri Hills. Surrounded by reserved forest area, this prominent golf destination provides a peaceful retreat for both members and tourists alike.

Stayed here with friends on my trip to Ooty. Rooms were quite spacious and well facilitated. But the property seemed old and could do with a little more maintenance. We weren't dressed appropriately to enter the club but otherwise it's a nice premises. A little pricey though.

Great Caddies. Amazing location. Tiring slopes. Feel sorry that we were the only golfers there. And yet, despite our offering to pay green fees for a friend who had driven us around, the management were adamant that non golfers couldn't walk around. So just played 9 holes and didn't return. Quite a neglected course.. but very picturesque. A colonial mindset perhaps. How do you encourage people to play golf if you shoo them away. We had a few references from friends... but yet paid the full visitors fees as the front desk said they'd have to hear from them directly.. (that's fair enough) but the attitude was not right in my opinion. I've chaired a club for over 6 years and have been on committees for 20 years, am a member in a IGF course...and have attended R&A conventions....with this attitude, golf in Ooty could die out.
Ram M — Google review
Nice golf playground. Only members are allowed inside but tourists can get a great view from outside.

The golf course is for the members of gymkhana. It is a 21 hole golf course and you can see many of the members on the turf enjoying the game of golf. Also it could be easily seen that the golf course is really well maintained and that they make sure that the turf is in the perfect playable condition at any moment of time. Also, being located around natural forests it gives a really picturesque view.

The Honeymoon Boat House is a serene and romantic destination located near the Ooty Boat House. It offers a quieter and more intimate atmosphere, making it perfect for couples seeking a peaceful boat ride experience. Visitors can choose from pedal boats, rowboats, and motorboats, but the highlight is the Kashmir-inspired Shikaras. This spot has gained popularity since its establishment in 2004 and is ideal for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable boat ride reminiscent of Kashmiri shikaras.
Must visit for a calm and relaxing experience in ooty. The ride was peaceful. The water is green in colour cause of stagnant water. Lots of boats like Speed boats, pedal boats, rowing boats are available. Camera and video camera usage is chargeable. Mobile camera usage is not charged. The entry to the place is restricted through tickets. The one I took was rowing boat which cost me 400rs. There is children play area. There are some shops where you can buy tea powder and chocolates.

✨ Review for Thread Garden, Ooty ✨ Thread Garden is one of the most unique attractions in Ooty, showcasing handwoven flowers and plants made entirely out of colorful threads. The craftsmanship is truly impressive – every petal, leaf, and stem is created with such patience and detail that they almost look real. The place gives you a glimpse of the incredible dedication of the artisans, as no machinery or needles are used – everything is handmade. It’s a short visit but worth seeing at least once for the uniqueness.

Thread garden, Ooty. Hats-off to all the people who have done this amazing and detailed art work. Most of the flowers here seem so realistic that your eyes won't be able to believe that it's all made of thread, collar stiffs and wires. That too, purely hand made.. Kudos to the workmanship👏 👏 They say, it's a 33 yrs old art work. It's the 12yrs of hard n fruitful work by 50 woman. Wherein they have used 6 crore meters of silk embroidery thread to create these plants. Lighting-wise, they could have made a little better arrangement, especially at the end. It seemed a little dark. Otherwise worth visiting this place. Art and nature lovers will definitely enjoy the visit..

Thalassery Restaurant is a great option for those seeking traditional fish recipes, especially the Avoli Fish dish. It's recommended for seafood lovers and stays open until 11 pm, making it a good choice for late-night dining when most other restaurants are closed. While some customers have experienced issues with their orders, the food is generally praised for its taste and reasonable prices. The restaurant offers a variety of Kerala special fish and non-vegetarian dishes, as well as tasty vegetarian options.
We had placed order through Zomato . It was our first time and food taste was good. Very nice and reasonable price . Unfortunately they did Not follow the instructions We have dry Gobi and paneer chilly gravy they got it reversed. No cutlery. But food taste is good so no problem.

Earl's Secret is a charming multi-cuisine venue located in Marlimund, Ooty. The restaurant offers a variety of dining experiences, from enjoying coffee at the stunning glass conservatory to savoring old-school filter coffee at Ooty Coffee House. The restaurant also features Nahar's Sidewalk Cafe for a quaint and old-world ambiance and Shinkows for delicious Chinese cuisine.
Visited for the second time, and it was just as memorable as the first! My wife and I absolutely love the place — the cozy, vintage ambience, the calm surroundings, and the warm service make it feel truly special. The food, though on the pricier side, is well worth it. Everything we ordered was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. The staff is attentive and courteous, which adds to the overall great experience. Highly recommend this place if you're in Ooty and looking for a peaceful dining spot with top-notch food and service.

Tucked away in the serene hills of Ooty, Earl's Secret feels like stepping into a different era. The restaurant itself is inside a colonial-style bungalow with wooden floors, vintage furniture, and a glass conservatory that offers a beautiful view of the surrounding greenery. Service was friendly but a bit slow, likely because the place was quite full and we need to wait for the table for 20 minutes. Food was delicious, All in all, Earl’s Secret is more than just a restaurant, It’s not cheap, but for the atmosphere and quality, it’s worth a try

Pros: 1. Mind blowing place, ambience, environment 2. Nice decoration and maintenance 3. Plenty of space to seat and enjoy the scenery 4. People are very nice mannered and good service 5. Too much photogenic 6. Foods are nice and served fresh Cons: 1. Quite bit costly but still believe it is justifiable due to its location and ambience. 2. Difficult for navigation and quite narrow lanes but liked a lot while going to the top. 3. At night it’s quite dark and low visibility outside so preferably to go before evening if you want to enjoy your food outside. But inside it’s quite warm and nice.

Nestled atop the hills of Ooty and surrounded by lush greenery, Earl’s Secret offers a truly serene dining experience. The beautiful gardens, ample parking space, and soft, soulful music create a mesmerizing atmosphere that perfectly complements the food. What we ordered: 1. Manchow Soup 2. Tangy Crispy Pepper Potato (Veg) 3. Punjabi Paneer Tawa Masala 4. Murgh Tikka Masala 5. Butter Naan, Rumali Roti & Stuffed Kulcha 6. Apple Pie with Ice Cream Ambience & Experience: The restaurant exudes old-world charm with elegant outdoor seating and scenic views of the valley. The ambience is peaceful and romantic, ideal for both family dinners and quiet getaways. Food Review: • 🥣 Manchow Soup: Perfectly spiced, hearty, and flavourful a great start to the meal. • 🥔 Tangy Crispy Pepper Potato: Crisp, tangy, and seasoned just right with a hint of sesame a true crowd-pleaser. • 🧀 Punjabi Paneer Tawa Masala: Rich, creamy, and full of flavor with soft paneer pieces that melted in the mouth. • 🍗 Murgh Tikka Masala: Succulent chicken cooked in a luscious, well-balanced gravy. Could have been better. • 🫓 Breads: The naans and kulchas were soft and fresh, pairing beautifully with the gravies. • 🍎 Apple Pie with Ice Cream: The perfect ending, warm, comforting, and absolutely delicious! Service & Value: Service was courteous, and well-coordinated. The staff didn’t justify the service tax. Prices are mismatch to the taste of the food by 20-30%. Overall: A delightful blend of Indian and fusion cuisine served in a picturesque hilltop setting. Earl’s Secret is truly one of Ooty’s hidden gems, perfect for anyone seeking good food, great ambience, and a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!

✨️ – Earl’s Secret, Ooty✨️✨️ I recently dined at Earl's Secret, and the experience was nothing short of delightful. On a cold day in Ooty, the warm and comforting dishes felt like a perfect fit and were incredibly soothing. I tried the Tandoori Murg, Hara Bhara Kebab, Chicken Dum Biryani, and Khichdi. Every dish was well-prepared, flavorful, and served hot, which made the meal even more enjoyable in the chilly weather. The tandoori murg was succulent and nicely marinated, the hara bhara kebab tasted fresh and full of earthy flavor, while the chicken dum biryani was nicely aromatic with tender pieces. Even the simple khichdi tasted comforting and fulfilling. The ambience added so much to the experience: cozy, charming, and carrying a beautiful vintage feel that makes you want to sit back and enjoy the moment. It's the kind of place that instantly relaxes you. Overall, Earl's Secret is a perfect destination in Ooty where warm and comforting meals meet an old-world atmosphere. A highly recommended place!

Ambience is nice, be warned this is an expensive restaurant, the most affordable dish starts from 350Rs IIRC, situated on a hill top the weather changes as quickly as the clouds keep moving, my kids loved the chocolate mousse so much that we carried back parcels of it.

South Indian restaurant
Amma's Kitchen is a popular restaurant located near the Rotary Club, making it a convenient meeting point for travelers. The establishment offers authentic South Indian cuisine and has attentive wait staff who cater to guests unfamiliar with the flavors of the region. Visitors can enjoy delicious dishes such as parathas, Gobi Manchurian, and vegetarian thalis at reasonable prices. The restaurant is known for its cleanliness and friendly service, with the manager personally ensuring customers' comfort.
Amma's Kitchen | Ooty | TamilNadu | TamilNaduFood Amma's Kitchen is very famous restaurant in ooty. I generally don't expect much from restaurant food while travelling in TamilNadu but this restaurant exceeded all my expectations. The food was very good, better than what I generally eat in other places in ooty. Egg Biryani and Veg Biryani is the best I've ever had And Chicken Biryani is better and lil but satisfied and Will definitely visit this place if eating in Ooty again. The service is slow though n takes time to prepare food. But it was worth the wait. Price : Veg Biryani - 180/- Egg Biryani - 180/- Chicken Biryani - 220/- Extra charge for Parcel Bags 750Ml - 8/- 500Ml - 5/- Carrying Cover - 13/-

Extremely disappointing service and food. The price charged is way too high and the quantity is so less that I wasn't even sufficient for 1 person. There should be an option to give negative rating, I would have given -5. Worst worst worst experience. When I tried to give feedback, they are so less bothered that they don't have a feedback register and said I can give it online, which is what I am doing here!!! Visit at your own risk and choice!

Wow, it's really the best south Indian food place i feel is present in ooty. You might not see the food color so alluring but trust me it tastes awesome. The filter coffee was also perfect. (Those who love bitter taste of coffee). The service was apt. Even though we could not speak Tamil the waiter managed to serve very well. Very pocket friendly and simple restaurant.

Amma’s Kitchen is definitely worth it! The place is in such high demand that when we went after 1:30 PM, meals were already over. So the next day we made sure to walk in early. They serve both North Indian and Kerala meals at a reasonable rate. The restaurant is neat and clean, the food is affordable, and both the quantity and quality are excellent 👌. A must-try if you’re in the area!

If you’re craving authentic South Indian flavors without breaking the bank, Amma’s Kitchen is the place to be. Tucked away in a cozy corner of the city, this humble eatery brings the heart of southern India to your plate with a welcoming atmosphere and a menu that feels like a home-cooked meal straight from a grandmother’s kitchen. Ambience: The restaurant has a simple, no-frills interior that exudes warmth and comfort. The wooden tables and bright lighting create a casual, relaxed vibe, perfect for a quick meal or a leisurely lunch. The staff is friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. Food: Amma’s Kitchen excels in delivering traditional South Indian dishes that burst with flavor, and the prices are incredibly reasonable. The dosas are a highlight—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and served with a variety of chutneys and sambar that perfectly complement the dish. The sambar has a rich, tangy taste, and the chutneys offer a nice balance of spice and sweetness. Their idlis are another standout: fluffy, fresh, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Whether paired with the traditional coconut chutney or the spiced tomato chutney, every bite is comforting and satisfying. If you’re looking for something more filling, the vadas are crunchy on the outside yet soft inside, making them a perfect snack or addition to any meal. Specialties: Amma’s Kitchen also serves excellent rice dishes like the lemon rice and coconut rice, both fragrant and well-seasoned. For those who enjoy a bit of heat, the spicy Kerala-style curry is a must-try, with tender pieces of chicken or vegetables simmered in a rich, flavorful gravy. Portion Size and Value: Portion sizes are generous, and you’ll likely find yourself leaving with a full stomach and a small bill. The affordability of the dishes, considering their quality, makes Amma’s Kitchen a standout choice for those on a budget but unwilling to compromise on taste. Overall: For anyone seeking an authentic and affordable South Indian dining experience, Amma’s Kitchen hits the mark. The comforting, flavorful food combined with friendly service and great value makes it a gem in the city. Whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor, it’s clear that this is a place where tradition and taste come together beautifully. Highly recommended for a no-fuss, satisfying meal!

Visited Amma’s kitchen for late lunch, the order of Chicken Biriyani and Jeera Rice was served in decent wait time, the food quality and taste is average. Needs improvement. They do not have any beverages , even not soft drinks. There is ample parking space opposite to the hotel.

The place is very clean with decent staffs. The food was good. The manager walks around enquiring the needs and comfort of the customers which is quite amazing.. Had a south Indian thali which was quite budget friendly and delicious too.. There is ample parking space opposite the hotel.. Highly recommended..
