Ventura in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Ventura, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Ventura offers a classic Southern California beach town feel, with wide sandy shores, a historic wooden pier, and consistent surf breaks that attract wave riders of all levels. Its walkable downtown features preserved early-20th-century architecture, local shops, breweries, and access to the ornate Mission San Buenaventura. From Ventura Harbor you can catch boat trips to Channel Islands National Park, known for sea caves, wildlife, and hiking. The city also serves as a relaxed base for exploring the Pacific Coast Highway and nearby coastal communities.
With favorites like Coastal Cone & Parlor, Pete's Breakfast House, and San Buenaventura State Beach, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews and Singing Sun Coffee so you can get the best taste of Ventura while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Shopping mall
Clothing store
Restaurant
Pacific View Mall is a local favorite in coastal Ventura, offering a variety of shops and dining options. It's conveniently located and provides a pleasant shopping experience. The mall also features a children's area, making it family-friendly. While some feel that the mall has declined over time, many still enjoy spending time there. Additionally, visitors can easily access another open-air mall just a few miles away at The Collection for more shopping and entertainment options.
Great place to walk around and shop. What a great mall. I'm thankful that it's still open.
Bill E — Google review
The mall is very nicely decorated and clean. Our first time visiting and the stores we went into were well stocked and great. Hopefully, like many other reviewers have said, mall management can find a way to revive tenancy. Nice area and nearby some other sites as well as the ocean with a few eateries there.
D P — Google review
Mall is just fine, not much going on here but i got lured in to get a massage. Buy some guys from Taiwan. They sold me a 30 minute massage for $30 about 20 minutes and he said I was done and then tried to keep a $10 tip for himself. And even the massage was mediocre, I translated to Chinese so it’s something he could understand and he still ignored the spots I asked him to target.
Nick H — Google review
It was great and going to the Panda Express there was great! The person making our plate was amazing! Nicest , most friendly Panda Express worker I've encountered!
Jas — Google review
It's sad to see this once thriving mall look run down and empty. There's still some decent stores open but it's nothing like it used to be.
Shawn F — Google review
Sadly this mall has really gone down hill over the years. Many of the good stores have closed. Lots of places are vacant. It’s kinda old and dingy all over. Food court is kinda decent. Feels like they don’t even turn AC on in here anymore. It pains me cause I love my city Ventura. But the pacific view mall isn’t a good representation of our city. If you got time and the transportation I really recommend driving over to Topanga and going to the Westfield mall is much better and it’s full of great stores and places to eat. I really hope our mall can turn things around coming out of the shutdown and just do better all around.
Anthony E — Google review
Great memories as a kid coming here, seems like less clothing stores are available lately and there are more gaming or things to do for little kids. Only see this place get crowded around Christmas lately. Seems like it never fully recovered after covid.
Ðänny — Google review
There's nothing like shopping in an indoor mall with various stores, food courts ☺️ etc it is way better than being a hermit and ordering on line, when you have independence too shop and visit what you want in a one stop shop thank you 🙏

Breakfast restaurant
Restaurant
Pete's Breakfast House is a charming diner-style restaurant in Ventura, offering American breakfast with a unique twist and quirky decor. The menu features freshly squeezed orange juice, locally sourced eggs, fruits, and veggies. Their homemade corned beef hash is a must-try. Managed by a friendly husband-and-wife team, the restaurant has been serving delicious breakfast since 1986 and is always bustling with energy.
Don’t let the amount of people waiting for tables deter you. Turnaround is quick and we were seated within 15 minutes from our 2 visits. Service is great and fast, and food also comes out super fast! This is one of those restaurants you just want to try everything on the menu. Everything we ordered is delicious and portion is plenty to indulge or share. I ordered the pancake roll the first visit because why not? Portion looks overwhelming but it’s manageable as the pancake is light and fluffy, and the granola is just incredibly delicious!! This looks like a favorite local joint and we will definitely visit again when we are in town again!
Bessie G — Google review
Great food, great service. The water with a lemon slice was a nice touch. Ask for Mitch he'll really take care of you. Didn't have the stomach for the pancake roll. Nice music. We'll have to come back. But, the bathroom floors need cleaning.

Highly recommend coming here! Local or just passing, by like we were. The food was great! Nothing left us unsatisfied. They even took the time to guide us through the menu and gave us info regarding menu options. A great restaurant all around! The customer service was exceptional—not only for my family, but for everyone dining there. You can really tell they care about every guest’s experience. The walls were entertaining as well 😆. Some good laughs happened, Pete’s Did not disappoint.
Beiriz L — Google review
When we lived in Ventura, we went to Pete's just about every weekend. And for good reason - Pete's is just about the perfect breakfast diner. The menu is large, from baked goods and pancakes to eggs and bacon, along with Mexican food, everything is homemade and delicious. The coffee is great too. The staff are all so friendly, the interior is cozy, it's just so happy at Pete's. It's awesome. Just be prepared to wait a little bit almost any time you go, because this is where locals eat. Because it's awesome. Pro tip: try the habanero salsa!
Michael G — Google review
This was interesting for us . This place had people waiting to get a seat and lots good reviews about the food The staff was very friendly and they are very dog friendly. Which was awesome. Our waitress was very nice. So it was weird when our food was so underwhelming. When I took a bite of my eggs it had egg shells in it. And zero seasoning. I didn't care for the style of breakfast sausage that they use. The French toast was just ok. My husband had the huevos rancheros. The eggs were good but the canned beans over the breakfast potatoes were not tasty at all. The breakfast potatoes would have been so much tastier without the beans. The little salsa it came with tasted like raw tomatoes. Lastly the coffee wasn't fresh. It didn't taste good.As we looked around it seemed as though maybe we had just ordered the wrong food. Maybe the other options are much better. For us it was just meh. We spent over $50 for 2 egg breakfast meals and coffee. All that being said, because everyone was so nice and it had a lovely atmosphere. I would try it again
Rachael W — Google review
My Spanish omelet was excellent. I added avocado and it was worth it. The service was friendly and my coffee never reached less than half a cup (and I drink a lot of coffee) 😆 This is a great stop if you're in the area.
Joshua M — Google review
Pete's is a gem. I highly recommend the Chile Verde Burrito, it was huge and delicious. The atmosphere was also delightful. Service was on point and everything one could ask for.
K M — Google review
Excellent service!! Kind, warm and friendly staff. Fresh ingredients. Fresh squeezed (on site) OJ and home made biscuits, to mention a couple highlights. I had the Fratada. It was delicious. We had our food quickly without error. Save Pete's in your favorites. Thank me later.

Nature & Parks
Marina Park is a 15-acre oceanfront park located in Ventura, California. It's a popular spot for both locals and tourists, offering various family-friendly amenities such as playgrounds, volleyball courts, picnic areas with tables and barbecue spots. The park features walking paths and a spacious grassy area perfect for beachfront picnics while enjoying views of the harbor.
Thumbs up all around from the toddlers to mom and dad. We stopped in on our way south to Disneyland to give the kids time to stretch their legs and burn some energy and couldn’t have been happier. This 10.5 beachfront park opened in 2015. Some of it’s offerings include: Nautical-Themed Playground: Features a large lighthouse with a red tunnel slide, a “spiderweb” rope climber, and play equipment suitable for toddlers and older children. The playground is adjacent to a sandy, wave-free bayfront beach ideal for kids. The Marina Park Community and Sailing Center provides sailing classes, kayak, and stand-up paddleboard rentals. Lighthouse Bayview Café is a restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner with harbor views, located under a fake lighthouse. Basketball courts, an outdoor fitness circuit, picnic tables, a large grassy lawn. 177 parking spaces at $2.10/hr. ParkMobile app friendly.

It's a whole vibe. I recommend yoga with friends. Also, the beach is great, the access to the harbor (and ocean) is also great, and the parking is fantastic. What a gem.
Josiah R — Google review
I love Marina Park, specifically on a hot day. Jumping into the water to cool off is wonderful. This park does have a lot of traction since its at the beach like most beaches in the summer. But with that said the city keeps it very clean. If been coming here for decades and I enjoy it every single time.
Rogelio J — Google review
Love this park. Plenty of grass to chill on with the kiddos, a nice park for the kids, a massive ship that has zip line and right on the beach. The waves can be a bit rough but still a nice spot.
Sandandsea18 — Google review
Marina Park is a beautiful and relaxing place to spend time with family and friends. The park is clean, well-maintained, and has plenty of open space to enjoy fresh air and nature. It’s right by the water, which makes the atmosphere peaceful and refreshing. The playground is perfect for children, with safe and fun equipment to keep them entertained. Restrooms are available and well-kept, which is very convenient for visitors. The park is also dog-friendly, so it’s a great place to bring pets for a walk or playtime.

Love that it's both a park and beach 🙏🏽 love to bbq here! Such a fun place to go 🥰😻
Jas — Google review
Quiet park on the beach. Picnic tables, grass, playground, watch sailboats, clean restrooms, dog friendly, very relaxing 😌 😎
Cathy H — Google review
A clean and fun park with many amenities. There is a decent sized free parking lot as well as some street parking. The large grass area is great for picnics and family gatherings, flying kites, or playing with friends. There is a large play pirate ship at the sand for the kiddos. We saw many people bring their dogs here. There are also dog bag stations throughout the park. A meandering sidewalk leads you to the beach, dunes, or out along the peninsula. There are areas for fishing harbor side and ocean side. There are also plenty of benches throughout the park and along the sidewalk path. Great for relaxing and watching the sunset. The city does a great job of keeping up the park.

Great adventure with island packers cruises! The cruise we did on a Sunday was a full day tour with great guides and lots of wildlife. Really enjoyed exploring the island and the boat ride to the island. Would recommend as a way to visit the Channel Islands national park! Wear a hat, bring sunscreen and bring water! You can buy some snacks and drinks on the boat

Our recent journey with Island Packers to Santa Cruz Island & Painted Cave was truly memorable. As a wildlife photography studio devoted to documenting California’s coast, we were impressed by the crew’s professionalism, depth of knowledge, and genuine respect for the environment. From the moment we arrived at the harbor, everything ran smoothly. Boarding was easy, the staff was welcoming, and shared fascinating insights about the islands and local wildlife throughout the day. Highlights included a breathtaking visit to Painted Cave, spotting hundreds of dolphins, and watching harbor seals bask on sunlit rocks. The views from the boat were stunning, and there was ample time to soak in the scenery both from the water and on the island itself. For anyone planning a Channel Islands trip, we recommend packing light, dressing in layers, and always keeping your camera close. We’ve included a selection of our favorite images from the journey. Thank you, Island Packers, for an unforgettable day on the water. We’re already looking forward to our next Channel Islands adventure with you. This trip was so good, we wrote a whole travel log about it on our website. ☺️

This was such a treat! The plan was to get a ferry boat ride to Santa Cruz, Island and hike for the day and take the ferry back to Ventura Harbor. We had some pretty hefty swells, but I sat at the back of the boat Which I highly recommend if you get seasick. I also recommend check the weather, the wind gust so that you can dress appropriately for the boat ride. The sea life was very active on our way out to the island of Santa Cruz. We saw lots of dolphins, but on our return ferry trip, we saw even more dolphins that came up to the boat and swam along side of the boat as well as seeing groups of sea lions, swimming in formation as well as humpback whales. I was so impressed with the boat, allowing us to slow down and watch the whales as they came closer to the boat and swam under the boat. It was such a great experience. I would highly recommend it. I also liked how they took very good precaution at all times and were very courteous to those who are feeling seasick, making sure that they were seated in a place that would help them. Also, on some of the bigger swells, the boat would slow down to help ease with the impact of the wave against the boat so I appreciated that very much as well. The crew was always very professional and helpful. The deck hands were very kind to answer any questions I had and they were very friendly. I will definitely be visiting the channel Islands through Island Packers, again! ❤️
Lettie A — Google review
The trip out to the island was wonderful. But we had to stop to pick up day trip visitors and there were far too many people on the boat during the trip back to shore. It was not really pleasant waiting for an hour to get that many people on board and then have my seat stolen by some random rude woman with an entitlement issue.
Caitlin — Google review
This ferry is part of the fun when visiting Channel Islands National Park. The captain will seek out wildlife and point it out to the passengers, and of course the ride itself is full of beautiful views over the ocean. They will also take all of your gear and even a kayak to the island for your trip. Just make sure to book tickets before the popular times sell out.
Christopher R — Google review
"Island Packers" provides various trips from Oxnard and Ventura to the Channel Islands National Park, which is situated in the Pacific Ocean between 12 and 70 miles off the California Coast. There are different options for visitors who want to explore the islands or simply take a boat ride around the islands. There is so much incredible wildlife to see in the ocean near the islands and on the islands as well. Whales (seasonal), dolphins, sea lions, various seabirds, and so much more. The reservations are available either online or over the phone. There is plentiful paid parking ($10.35 per day) by the headquarters of Island Packers in Ventura. One has to pay via an app with a credit or debit card. They have a gift shop and restrooms there. Their personnel is very friendly and professional.
Alexander V — Google review
Beautiful and smooth ride to Santa Cruz Island thanks to Island Packers crew. Their instructions were easy to follow and made the whole process simple. Plenty of drinks and snacks for purchase. Be ready to see some wildlife on the way!
Cat A — Google review
Good wildlife cruise. We saw dolphins and one whale. Staff were fabulous. The water was choppy so we got lots of water spray on the starboard side. I wish they had not closed the plastic windows to keep the water out as then the visibility was reduced to see nature. Next time we'll sit on the port side. The boat gallery has a huge selection of snack food and beverages they sell. Also next time we'll choose a "non-landing" boat trip as Anacapa Island has so many flies at the dock because of much cormorant bird poop. We were fighting the 100 flies that got on the boat and swatting (wish we had fly swatters) all the way back to Ventura. On the boat they need giant fans on they turn on while docking there, to keep the flies away. Or if the national park will allow, to power wash the poop from rocks as that's what's attracting and growing the flies. All in all it was a good trip but I'd do a non-landing sailing only. Island Packers has a good team of people, from the phone operators answering questions to the team on the boat taking us out. Our friends said the trip was more than they expected and were quite pleased.

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews is a popular chain known for its wide variety of gourmet burgers and American comfort food. It's a family-friendly spot with an extensive menu that caters to all tastes, including the highly recommended fish and chips. The restaurant also features a bar for those who enjoy drinks with their meal. Customers rave about the mouthwatering Whiskey River BBQ burger, which comes with bottomless steak fries.
Haven't been in a red robin in a long time. Boy, did we make a great choice. The food and service was great at this location.

Always outstanding service and quality food (great job cooks!) at this Red Robin. Server LIZZY, manager ERIC and server LILY are without question the best! The Gourmet Burger with fries and the milkshakes are not to be beat. We really enjoy the delicious food and kind, hardworking folks that work here. Don’t miss this spot for a great meal and great staff.

They have decent food, but MULTIPLE times over the last year they have messed up our order and forgotten something. We've either gone back for a correction, or if we're too far back home we just call it a loss. The last time, I paid extra for garlic broccoli and not only did I get plain broccoli instead (I have receipt proof), but it was such a pathetic amount for the cost. I wasn't compensated. They also try to sneak in a tip if you order online. Luckily I caught it during check out.
Rynn21 — Google review
Went here for my son's birthday. He was really excited because he loves the food and the fact that they give him a balloon.🎈😁 The host sat us very quickly but the servers were very overwhelmed with a big party. The party that kept sending their food back and asking for things I really felt sorry for the servers. So although it took a while for our food to come out and for us to get refills on our drinks and fries I don't want to rate them lower because it wasn't their fault. The manager eventually came around to check on everyone but I feel like she should have been a little more visible to help with that large party.
Ronae H — Google review
Food was good and came out quick. Service was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere could’ve been a little better. Came after church and there was a pretty open restaurant but they sat us all really close together. Would’ve been nice to have a little bit of space but I understood because of how many servers they had there. Will come again
Hunter H — Google review
Red Robin earns a solid 4 stars in my book — it’s a consistently fun, casual place to eat with good food, friendly service, and a family-friendly atmosphere that still works well for teens and adults who just want a laid-back meal. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with that classic diner-meets-modern-sports-bar vibe, with bright red booths, TVs playing sports or random trivia, and the smell of burgers in the air that kind of makes you hungrier than you thought you were. The menu is big, with lots of burger options, from classic to wild (pineapple and teriyaki, anyone?), and everything feels customizable — you can swap patties, remove toppings, or go with a lettuce wrap if you’re trying to be healthier, which I appreciate. The bottomless fries are a huge win — crispy, well-seasoned, and super addicting, and if you ask, they’ll bring you more without hesitation. Their milkshakes are thick and indulgent, and the freckled lemonade is still a fan favorite. It’s not exactly “gourmet” food, but it’s good quality for the price, and portions are generous. They also have options beyond burgers — like salads, chicken sandwiches, and even vegetarian and gluten-free dishes — so there’s usually something for everyone. Service tends to be friendly and pretty quick, though depending on how busy it is, you might have to wait a bit for refills or extra fries — nothing major, but it’s worth noting if you’re on a tight schedule. The restaurant is also family-oriented, so you’ll often hear kids laughing or the occasional birthday song from across the dining room, which is fun for some people and a bit much for others depending on the mood. Still, it doesn’t take away from the experience — it just adds to that casual, all-ages vibe they’re going for. Overall, Red Robin isn’t trying to be super fancy, and that’s exactly why it works — it’s comfortable, tasty, and dependable, especially when you’re craving a big burger and fries in a setting where you don’t have to dress up or feel rushed. A few minor things (like noise or wait times during rush hours) keep it from being five stars, but I’d still definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a chill, satisfying meal with friends or family.

Our waitress, Mia, was very efficient. The manager, Misha, was also present and checking in at customer’s tables-very kind. Food was good. We will definitely return.

Singing Sun Coffee is a charming café located at the base of a two-story apartment building, boasting a picturesque exterior with lush greenery and a retro ambiance. With its spacious interior and friendly staff, it's an ideal spot to relax with friends over hand-crafted beers or artisanal coffee.
Great chill place! Awesome coffee! We randomly hit this place on a road trip for a togo coffee , but we loved it so much, stayed around and enjoyed a few too many cups 😁 People are nice , place is clean , coffee if good, their pastries were also good! They also do sell beans too! Do expect a line probably on peak days but it moves rather fast! Cleanness: clean People: very nice Seating: a few outdoor some inside Noise: average noise! Parking: street, there is a lot in the back too Price: fair

Loved the vibe of this coffee shop. It has so much space and a total vintage diner vibe because of the stools and the counter. The employees were really friendly and welcoming. The pastry options were amazing, everything looked so good! I got their Olive Oil Muffin which was perfection. I ordered their Golden drink which was really delicious and a total work of art. They have a nice enclosed outdoor area, a refrigerator filled with yummy to-go snacks and lots of drinksis well as some gorgeous merchandise. I am for sure going to come back to try one of their vegan breakfast burritos.

A lovely little coffee shop serving up clean single origin and their own custom blends. One of the few doing pour overs. Gluten free options. Appreciated the to the gram precision, even with their espresso. The space is bright open airy. Lots of working space both indoors and out. Solid WiFi. Clean elegant design. Quiet enough to be able to focus yet alive enough to be part of a community. Vegan burrito and gluten free pastry choices. Happy staff.

This is a great little coffee shop in Ventura. I’ve been here a couple times but I would say my wife frequency hear more often. I went in yesterday for an afternoon coffee and the staff was super friendly. The coffee was great and we were able to sit outside and enjoy a beautiful Ventura day. This shop has so many different options for coffee that you can get and they are all good. They also have a rad little display of pastries that you can grab too.

Today, 6.12.2025 my husband and I were out for a walk and we forgot our reusable mugs and I was in a panic because I will not use plastic or take away cups, but Olivia showed me they had pottery mugs and glass! She made my hubby an awesome Masala Chai with oat milk and my a Cold Brew with oat milk. All so good. Great seating. Excellent service. Thanks SINGING SUN…as always.

Love this cafe. Healthy quick bites and the best brewed coffee !
Ana V — Google review
Today was one of the worst and last experiences I will have at this location. Although the cashier was kind today (which rarely happens to my sister and me), the coffee is always mediocre. Anytime I get a latte it’s like I paid 7 dollars for a glass of milk. I kept coming back hoping it would get better and it did not. The main reason I would come here was because it was a short walk but I now know that I should prioritize quality over convenience. It also feels as though I am not welcome when I walk through the door which is odd because this location is on the avenue which is a majority Latino population. When I see the employees interacting with customers who are not people of color it looks like that is who they’re most comfortable with. I would not recommend coming here for the coffee or the experience especially if you are not white.

French restaurant
Le Petit Cafe & Bakery is a charming spot in Ventura Harbor Village, offering a blend of French and California cuisine, along with an espresso bar and delectable baked goods. The cafe boasts a harborfront patio where guests can savor their meals while taking in picturesque views. With its French-inspired menu and full bar, this hidden gem provides a delightful dining experience coupled with the soothing ambiance of the ocean.
Upon walking in on a Thursday night for dinner. I was greeted immediately. Was given the perfect corner table. They served us water immediately. I noticed the place was extremely clean. Well taken care of. And had excellent decor for the theme. Very warm and quaint. Menus were brought to us right away. We opted for Two French onion soups. Croque monsieur w/ potatoes. And Seafood crepe French onion soups. Finally a French onion soup that tasted authentic. Rich broth with perfectly caramelized onions. Sealed with bread and perfectly melted Gruyère cheese. Croque monsieur. Nicely cut thick ham. Good light Béchamel sauce. Lots of melted cheese. Tastes absolutely fantastic. The potatoes it came with were heavy. I should have got a salad instead. But that doesn’t mean the potatoes weren’t good. They were excellent! Seafood crepe. Smothered in cheese, sauce and herbs. Seafood tastes fresh, crepe was made correctly. Seasoning was on point. Staff was extremely attentive and took care of us very well. So would I recommend this place? Most definitely. Glad I found it. It’s definitely a great change and option for something to eat that’s different around here. If you like crepes, traditional French onion soup and a good croissant? Check it out! Food: far above average. Decor: older but makes sense for the theme. Staff: professional and attentive. Cleanliness: very clean. Bathrooms: very clean. Atmosphere: relaxing, chill French music playing.

I had the misfortune of dining at La petit cafe and bakery today , and it was an utterly disappointing experience. I ordered crab cakes. The food was inedible, not fresh and I literally had to spit it out because of crab shells in the crab cake. The flavors were off, and the texture was unappetizing. To make matters worse, the service was subpar. When I politely informed the server about the issue, they seemed unconcerned and still presented me with a half bill of 28$ I was shocked and disappointed that they expected me to pay for a meal that was clearly not fit for consumption and I didn’t even eat. The lack of quality control and customer care is alarming. Unless they seriously revamp their kitchen and service standards, I would strongly advise against dining here. Rating: 1/5 stars

Best Eggs Benedict I’ve ever had and that’s saying something, they are only offered on the weekends. My fiancé loved his seafood crepe! So much flavor and the servings size is worth the value. The Napoleon dessert was also very delicious. 10/10 we will be coming back.

It was so delicious. I highly recommend it for all occasions, pastries, and coffee was delicious . You can definitely walk it off, walking at the pier or for preparing for a boating trip.

Great place to eat with genuine French cuisine! Service was good, the patio over looking the harbor was very nice. Reasonably priced for today’s standards, being the food is properly made by an actual French chef’. The Pastries are amazing also!

Zero stars except that the location is nice. It popped up when searching for options for breakfast and walking by it looked welcoming enough so decided to give it a try. The Hostess was polite and got us seated quickly. We received water and menus. That was the end of service. The young lady that was servicing the tables stopped at every table but ours. After about 20 minutes just observing we walked out because it was quite obvious she had no intention of waiting on our table. This was confirmed when the couple that arrived about 15 minutes after my party did, receive prompt attention from the young lady. Plus two other stops. We were directed to the owner whose also expressed a nonchalant attitude when he was notified as to the reason why we were leaving. One of the most blatant racist experiences ever in CA.

Had and an absolutely great breakfast with family here. We had a wonderful time sitting outside. They don't take reservations but Manny told me to come a bit early when I called a week ahead and he had everything ready. He was a stellar enthusiastic server that knows the menu and made it a great day. The food was yummy. Parking can be a pain on the weekend unless you get there early then we had no problem. Later joiners had to park on the street but sitting outside was wonderful. They have a full bar and the food was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their time so this was a hit. Manny made the day awesome. Looking forward to coming back soon. The baguettes and croissants are heavenly too.

Californian restaurant
Cafe Zack is a charming, family-owned restaurant located just a few minutes from Ventura's beach and downtown area. Housed in a cozy 1930s cottage, it offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with the courtyard being a particularly enjoyable spot. With over two decades of experience, this eatery is known for its innovative Californian cuisine and friendly service. Whether it's a romantic date or a family gathering, Cafe Zack can cater to various dining needs.
The food is amazing, the service was fantastic, the patio has heaters so it isn't too cold- all around this is somewhere I'll come back too. It's a little expensive but the food absolutely justifies the price tag, sooo good. They have good shirley temples and their maraschino cherries aren't your average, so good. The lobster with sweet corn was amazing.
R4CCA77ACK — Google review
Good food, helpful service and a casual atmosphere make Zack a winner. We enjoyed out varied dishes including the pork and pastas. Everything was good, if not outstanding. The service was professional and unstuffy. The restaurant basically has the feel of a converted house. It's cozy. We would return.
TJJ — Google review
Let's start with the obvious: you can drive right past this place and not even see it. It is a converted house with minimal signage, and I think that adds to the charm. Reservations highly recommended. Now to the good and bad ... it's worth the visit but it comes at price. I had their crab cake appetizer (superb) and wild boar shank (you'll have to wait 30 minutes for this to cook), a glass of wine and their flourless chocolate cake. It set me back over $100. I WOULD GO AGAIN. Every bite was top notch. I sat indoors, but there is a small nice patio in back. Next time I'm trying their duck.
Jack G — Google review
Café Zack was such a great experience! Matt, our waiter, was incredibly welcoming and polite. His kind and genuine demeanor instantly made us feel comfortable and right at home. The food? Absolutely delicious — totally worth every cent. And don’t even get me started on the desserts! My fiancé had Zack’s Pie and loved every bite. I went with the crème brûlée cheesecake, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it was the best cheesecake I’ve ever had in my entire life. The flavor was absolute perfection. I highly recommend this place — amazing food, outstanding service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!
MyLittle D — Google review
Had my birthday dinner there and was so glad I choose there. The atmosphere felt more private than most restaurants that pack you in. They have indoor outdoor spaces. We had crab cakes, delish and noticeably homemade. Then rack of lamb and lobster ravioli, yum! Flourless chocolate cake for dessert. Oh, excellent martini and perfect wine as well as cappuccino. The waiter and owner made us feel at home. We’ll definitely be back! ❤️
Regina D — Google review
Everytime I come down to Ventura me and my wife come here. I recommend the Zach's Pie and Creme Brulee cheesecake for dessert. Built in an old home from the thirties with a remodeled bar, different atmosphere from the main room to outdoor patio. Wonderful restaurant.

Cozy, quiet Cafe Zack is a great place for intimate lunches or dinners with a little bit of a European feel. The food was definitely above average, all meals served were visually and tastefully attractive. Wait staff and employees and accommodating and friendly. Good place to eat in Ventura.

Had a great time here! 🐶🏖️ We took our dogs and enjoyed the beach for a few hours. Met a lovely couple and their eight-year-old daughter – the kids had a blast playing together! Definitely planning on coming back soon! 🥰 #BeachDay #FamilyFun #DogFriendly #Vacation #Memories

This is a fantastic spot to relax with family or friends. We especially enjoyed Coastal Cone Ice Cream, with their unique Taiyaki fish-shaped waffle cones filled with ice cream—it was a highlight! Margarita Villa Mexican restaurant was decent, though not particularly memorable. There’s plenty of parking, and the beach is just a short walk away. Unfortunately, the boat rental was closed on Sunday, so we missed the chance to ride the swan boats, which would have been a great family activity.

I think we hit every shop in this place looking for trinkets to take home to my family I found a few and of course after finding the little things I was wanting the very last shop would have been the best to purchase at. Don't remember the name of the shop but they had some great deals. Bottom line the shops in the harbor that are left there or nice to shop through and the people were great.
Ed W — Google review
Always a pleasure to be here! Not so crowded, can always find a parking spot even on the weekend, love to walk around, have some seafood or ice cream, fun doing the boating, life is better with the cooler weather here.

We love to take the boats out. We usually pay to rent them for an hour or so. It's a fun activity. My kids love it!!

There is a lot to see just walking around. Little shops to go into. Food. Drink. You GOT to rent a paddle boat or kayak for at least an hour. Its safe and interesting and beautiful. I saw seals, fish, and birds close enough for a thrill but far enough to be safe. Some of the paddle boats are in the shape of big swans! There are also electric boats with sun shade that carry a small group.

Hit the new BOBQ by The SEA shop for some Thai Ice Tea -- met the owners, couple of very friendly, helpful guys. Shop is in the Soft Opening phase, but is already comfortable, clean and inviting. They have plenty of seating, inside and out on the patio. Their selection of card games gives it a homey feel. Their Thai Ice Tea was really good -- Daughter and I have been trying different Boba spots lately and we both agree: Boba by the Sea is the BEST we've had yet! Wish we lived closer?! If you're in the Ventura Harbor area and need some good Milk/Boba Tea made by a couple down to Eaetg guys that KNOW what they're doing? STOP IN AND GIVE EM A SHOT!

This is such a good ice cream/dessert place! I stop by every time I am in the Oxnard area. The Hawaiian remix is one of my favorite flavors. We always get the 805 milkshake cuz Oxnard strawberries are the best! The fish zookies they sell are also delicious. Make sure you eat them when they are hot though. Fun atmosphere and cute location. Love this place! (Although it’s expensive, it’s quite fun.)

It melted as it was handed to me, as soon as I got it in my hands I saw a spalt on their counter. By the time I go to the parking lot half of it had dripped all over the concrete. I'm not sure if this was due to the flavor I chose or perhaps a newbie employee that served it incorrectly. The atmosphere is great and they have an abundant menu but unfortunately I was given a faulty one

Very popular ice cream spot with a unique twist; a freshly made fish pastry filled.with Nutella and other yummy stuff for your liking can be added to your scoops.

A MUST TRY spot in Ventura! This place offers such a unique ice cream experience right by the water. The presentation alone is worth the trip. It is picture-perfect and totally Instagram worthy. We couldn’t get enough of the Nutella-stuffed Fishzookies, which are crispy on the outside, warm and gooey on the inside. Pair it with creamy ice cream and wow. If you're anywhere near Ventura, do yourself a favor and treat yourself. This place is a delight for the senses!

I was really torn between flavors, but ultimately settled on cookie dough ice cream (which I 100% recommend). They had many flavors to choose from, cone or cup options, and even a cute fish cone option that I'd likely go back for later to try out. The staff was really friendly and service was fast.

Each taiyaki cone is freshly made, crispy on the outside, and traditionally filled with sweet red bean paste or custard, adding an extra layer of flavor as you enjoy your treat. Very beautiful Park in a nice neighborhood, with restrooms, plenty of parking, and hardly any homeless people. The park appears to be dog friendly and there is a section just for dogs. Most of the people in the park are playing ball, enjoying family time, walking or jogging. There are lots of picnic tables and trash cans. There's a nice playground section by the tennis courts for the kids.

A great park to take your furry friends and enjoy some out door time. Separate area available at back of park for small dogs and large dogs without leashes. And a ton of walking area with leashes.

I love this park! It’s well maintained although the road in the park really should get repaved. If you drive further back there is a sink near picnic tables that has running water and there’s another faucet near tables past the playground. Not sure if the water is potable so I can’t recommend drinking it. There’s a dog park that has a fence around it and it looks like dogs enjoy it. I don’t talk to any of the dogs in person but they sure look happy. There’s courts (I’m assuming tennis) located to the left when you first drive in and they look well kept. The bathrooms are clean and always had toilet paper when I had to use them. The fields are really big and I’ve been here during little league and it gets packed! Not all the time but sometimes. Lots of shade to park under and great place to just chill.

Great park with plenty of open spaces. The park had several parties going on with plenty of space.🦋 Were all around the park as a bonus. Great place to walk play ball or bring your 🐕 dog to fenced in area for social time.
Lori S — Google review
Beautiful park BUT read to the bottom! The parking to get to the dog park may be too far to walk for some people. I have a small dog. There is only one bench and bring your own water. If new, you may not understand how to open the gates. WARNING: There is a woman on the back side with a van she lives in with a LOT of small dogs she puts outside in a pen. At least one dog can scale the fencing and will attack. She knows this but doesn't always pay much attention as her dog easily got over the fence and made it to my dog and attacked him. Animal control has been out there but do nothing.

Title: A Canine Haven in Nature's Embrace Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5 stars) Camino Real Park truly stands out as a gem for dog lovers and their furry companions. Nestled in the heart of nature's embrace, this park offers an exceptional experience that caters to both dogs and their humans. The highlight of Camino Real Park is undoubtedly its spacious and well-maintained dog park. The area provides ample room for our four-legged friends to roam, run, and play freely. What sets this park apart is the thoughtful inclusion of mature trees that generously provide shade, creating a comfortable environment for both pets and owners, even on hot summer days. As a dog owner, I appreciate the foresight of the park's planners in considering our pets' well-being. Picnic tables thoughtfully scattered throughout the dog park offer a perfect spot for human companions to relax while keeping an eye on their playful pups. It's an ideal setup for socializing with other dog owners and sharing joyful moments with fellow pet enthusiasts. One of the highlights that stood out to me during my visits was the presence of a doggy drinking fountain. This small yet significant feature emphasizes the park's commitment to ensuring the welfare of our beloved pets. Having a readily available water source for our furry friends is a testament to the park's dedication to creating a safe and welcoming space for all visitors. Beyond the park's amenities, the community of dog owners that frequent Camino Real Park is incredibly warm and friendly. Everyone seems genuinely invested in ensuring a positive experience for their dogs and other park-goers. It's heartwarming to witness how quickly friendships form between humans and their pets, fostering a strong sense of camaraderie among the visitors. Camino Real Park has undoubtedly become a go-to destination for me and my canine companion. The park's commitment to providing a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable environment for our furry friends is evident in every aspect. I wholeheartedly recommend this park to any dog owner seeking a serene place to bond with their pets, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the camaraderie of a wonderful community.

I really enjoyed my visit here. I ordered the house salad and the “flaming cheese” which was a very fun experience but you definitely need people to share with you. It’s literally a steak of cheese 🧀 The avocado on the salad was delicious and the chicken was moist and not dry which I loved. I’d be happy to visit again soon!

The food is simply delicious! It feels like my grandmother made it. The mushrooms were made with garlic, the lamb was well done. I can’t believe I didn’t know this place before. It was the best experience I’ve had with food in Ventura county. The service was great. I’ll definitely be back soon!!

Hello Everyone — I’m writing this review with an intention that it will help the wider community to get a sense of the restaurant in terms of location, food quality and services including staffs behavior plus location. If the wider community gets benefited out of it, I will be very happy. This is one of our fav place in Ventura Harbor Village and as always we visited for the brunch around July 2025. Overall our experience was Amazing — starting from start to finish. Food — we ordered Fish & Chips and Santorini Pasta, both were delicious 😋 Service — Excellent service and the server was so nice that it gave an overall homely vibes. At the end, they gave us a complimentary coffee ☕️ Atmosphere— Very nice. Location — It’s just in front of the harbor so you can get the beautiful view of the road and harbor both together…. Restroom — it’s one area which we always look for once travel. It’s very much clean and highly maintained and renovated.

Ambience is the selling point, service is very good. As for the food, well, my recommendation is to stick with Greek on the menu. The steak and seafood dishes were just not up to par. Too salty, over cooked, bland or dry, all over the place. Greek dishes and appetizers, on the other hand were spot on.

Service was exceptional as they accommodated food allergies and double checked with us about how they were managing the prep of food without cross contamination... Truly above and beyond what was expected and so appreciated. Food was absolutely delicious from the steak and shrimp to chicken and pasta... All 4 people in our party Loved their food. We will be back

My friend and I had lunch here today, and we left with full bellies and smiles. We loved that the restaurant was right on the marina and had a wonderful open and airy concept. The portion sizes of food were really good. My all time favorite dish was the flaming cheese with some pita bread. By the time we ate the bread, cheese, pita bread, and chicken soup we were too full to eat our main courses. There was plenty of parking, the servers were exceptional, and attentive. I love that the restaurant has outdoor heaters because it can get a little brisk by the marina. All in all it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend trying it out.

Great when you want to shuck your own oysters. You’re in for a fun time no doubt. Bring your own shuckers, buy one from the shop, or just ask to borrow one. Whatever which way, you’ll have some fun. Shuck shuck away. Their smaller ones are usually better, in a sweeter way. We love getting the Kumamoto variety mainly. Open air seating at the beach and you can have open containers. Good deal!

My family and I went to the Jolly Oyster on a Saturday at around 12 pm. Parking was free for 1 hour, and in order to not get charged a penalty you need to scan the qr code and pay online BEFORE your time runs out and leave the lot. Location: Super easy to find! It was very clear from the umbrellas and stands that we were in the correct place. There were convenient beach bathrooms right next to Jolly Oyster. You have to wait to be seated, but they are pretty attentive and quick to seat us. Staff: The staff was so incredibly nice! The person who sat us wiped our table down and attempted to get us more shade. He explained the dining situation very well. The staff member at the shuck shack was extremely nice! He helped educate me on the difference between the gold and premium uni. We think a nice touch from the staff was that if they recognized you they would say, "Welcome back!", which is something so small, yet so impactful. Food: We ordered a dozen mixed raw oysters (half kumamotos and half Laguna bay), habanero lime grilled oysters, and bay scallop ceviche. We also got some uni (gold) from the shuck shack. The raw oysters were extremely fresh and super delicious! The habanero lime grilled oysters had a good savory flavor. We LOVED the bay scallop ceviche, we got it twice! Super limey and the scallops were a perfect texture. The uni was super fresh and creamy, we even got the uni twice, too! Atmosphere: It was very laid back and everyone was pretty much to themselves at their own picnic tables. You can bring your own beverages and some people even brought some In N Out! Next time we will definitely bring more drinks and maybe some sandwiches now that we know! It's dog friendly as well! Overall, we will definitely be coming back to Jolly Oyster! Especially for the bay scallop ceviche and uni!! Definitely recommend stopping by if you're driving through Ventura!

Love stopping in here and getting a great creamy garlic chicken from time to time. Some of the best pizza and a great family ran business for many years. Need more places like these gems

Delicious pizza you can tell it’s fresh! It’s my first time here, but definitely not the last. The dining area inside is a whole vibe.

Toppers is the BEST! Their incredible salad bar is the star of the show—tons of delicious fresh toppings and amazing house-made dressing, and there’s always an employee dedicated to keeping the salad bar stocked and clean. And their pizza always hits just right!! Fresh-made, classic, and always tasty. And if you have room for dessert, their pizza cookies are SO GOOD. Toppers also has excellent patio seating (with heaters in the winter months) if you prefer to eat outside! Overall, Toppers excels at attention to detail and customer service, fresh ingredients, and classic, delicious flavors!!

Great salad bar quick service and generously made pizza. 🍕 It reminds me of the Pizza Hut atmosphere from the 90s with a modern look.

I rarely feel moved to leave a review these days. I want to leave one today! We had a delicious dinner delivered and everything about the experience was top notch! We ordered online, very fast and easy. 30 minutes later a very friendly, professional person delivered hot tasty food. Great customer service. The kind we all wish still existed. In an environment of uber this and dasher that, Toppers is tops in my opinion. For a stand out dinner in, you won’t be disappointed by Toppers.

Steak house
Seafood restaurant
Aloha Steakhouse is a popular waterfront restaurant known for its prime rib, seafood, and other steakhouse specialties in a laid-back setting. The restaurant offers stunning ocean views and overlooks the historic Ventura Pier. Guests can enjoy a delectable menu featuring juicy steaks, clam chowder, teriyaki chicken, and more. The cocktail offerings are equally impressive.
We went to Aloha Steakhouse in Ventura looking for a place to eat some fresh cooked fish. We were not disappointed by our dinner choice for date night. The interior design of the restaurant was well designed. They have seating indoor & outside seating, with a nice bar area to grab a drink, while you wait for a table. The service was very good and we were able to get a booth with a reservation. The staff was very friendly and our waiter was kind and attentive. We really enjoyed the salmon and halibut. My wife got the salmon with the house salad and it was very refreshing. I tried the halibut, which was the daily fish special. I got it prepared with the Parmesan crust. The fish was delicious and very satisfying. They also do parking validation. The next time we come try some of the steak options!

Me and my spouse came here to celebrate our anniversary for future reference it’s better to make a reservation cause this place gets packed even on a week day. The food here was really good we tried the artichoke dip with the jalapeño toast and was so good I really need to know how they make that toast also tried the teriyaki chicken which was also really good but extremely overpriced! paid $30 for a piece of chicken and a slice of grilled pineapple not mention that it only comes with one side for that price we should I least get two! Overall I did enjoy the service from our waitress.

We came to Aloha Steakhouse on a Sunday evening around 5 PM. Even though it was pretty busy, we were seated right away. Our waiter was kind, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. We had a booth which was perfect for our small kids. They even gave them crayons and coloring books to keep them entertained. The atmosphere was really nice and upscale but still family friendly which we really appreciated. We even had a view of the ocean from our booth and the noise level was just right, not too loud. The food was outstanding. We had the ribeye cooked rare and it was absolutely perfect. The steak came with steamed vegetables that were fresh and flavorful. Our kids had cheeseburgers and fries and we also tried the craft burger with fries. The fries were crispy and delicious across the board. Multiple staff members checked on us throughout the meal but it never felt overwhelming. Sometimes restaurants overdo it but this was just outstanding service from start to finish. Overall it was a great experience with amazing food, excellent service, and a comfortable environment for families. We will definitely be back.

We ordered a ribeye steak medium rare to share and it came out medium well and overly seasoned. I had a bowl of clam chowder which was pretty rich and decently flavored but not great. The wedge salad was decent. Mediocre french fries. Overall meh.. staff was nice.

Rib Eye Steaks 🥩, Wedge salads, chocolate souffle and banana's foster OH MY! Food was delicious, service was great and ambiance fun with an Ocean view. Watch people stroll along the boardwalk as you make up your own stories as they pass by while the server flambes your bananas foster table side. There is a kids menus, paid parking with 2 hr validation. A great place for a fun dinner with family or friends.

We stayed another day in Ventura. We decided to try out Aloha Steak in Ventura on a Wednesday evening, right by the beach near the pier, this place was lively! Even midweek, it was packed, but we got a table quickly and checked out their happy hour menu, which was seriously awesome. We got a bit carried away with the ordering—the clam chowder was a total standout, super creamy and bursting with flavor. The chicken satay was alright but a little dry. The fish and chips were solid, with flaky fish and perfectly crispy fries. And the shrimp cocktail? Those shrimps were huge and super fresh. Service was a bit slow, likely because of a big party in the restaurant keeping the staff busy. Still, the food quality was top-notch, and the ocean view from our table was fantastic—such a great Ventura beach vibe. Plus, free parking with validation was a nice perk. If you’re after a vibrant spot for a meal by the water, Aloha Steak’s a solid choice for a weeknight or any night!

Had the filet mignon with fry’s. Solid B+ for both. Wife had prime rib, C- baked potato C+. Windows looking out towards the pier definitely needed cleaning. Brian was very good server.

The food is delicious, the service is good the unfortunate thing here is they ran out of sour cream for my baked potato. But they have a lovely and delicious macadamia crusted halibut steak with peanut sauce and teriyaki drizzle. Yummy. My husband had a juicy ribeye steak. It's a little pricey but worth it. Beautiful ocean view.
