Hiking area
Sundial Bridge is a stunning architectural gem that gracefully spans the Sacramento River, designed by the renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. This pedestrian bridge not only serves as a vital link between Turtle Bay Exploration Park's museum and its beautiful Arboretum and Gardens but also acts as a gateway to Redding’s expansive Sacramento River National Recreation Trail.
This place was very cool! We've got to go back when we have more time. Parking is free, which is great and there is plenty of it. The park is huge... there are electric scooters and bikes you can rent to ride around. There were a lot of people just on leisurely evening strolls. My wife and I went by the lake and just sat for a few after taking our time across the bridge. It was an absolutely beautiful view on both sides. There were kayakers and tubers on the river. It was also doggy walking hour 🤭 Plenty of furry friends enjoying a stroll. Very peaceful place. There apparently is a restaurant on site as well but we went too late. 😣 next time !

Beautiful place to just sit and relax. The river flowing below has a wide bank and feels magical with the water stream resembling raindrops on the surface. It's pretty cool on a summer evening. Lots of people (not overcrowded) and friendly families around. The car park is extremely close, so it's not much of a hassle to walk it up.
Shripad K — Google review
Do visit this place if you visit Redding. The whole bridge is lit up at night making it a surreal experience. They also have bikes and scooters that you can rent. Bike rentals felt cheaper than the scooters. Many scenic trails besides the river. So take your time and have fun exploring the place. Sunday they had the farmers market setup.
Varun R — Google review
This cool, architectural wonder in Redding is at Turtle Bay Exploration Park is super cool. Use the QR code at the beginning for an audio guided tour with lots of cool information as you walk across. On the other side is an Arboretum and Botanical garden. The audio tour says that the bridge is lit up at night... how cool is that!
Diana S — Google review
The Sundial Bridge is a beautiful spot with a great view of the water. It’s a relaxing place to walk, and there’s plenty for kids to enjoy. The nearby museum and park make it even better, offering both fun and learning opportunities. A wonderful place for a family outing. After parking there is a nice river and picnic area as well but it’s not clean space while I visited, this area isn’t connected to the bridge so not to worry!

A must visit place in Redding CA. The city has done an amazing job if constructing a unique educational piece of marvel. Enjoy the gorgeous views of sunset over Sacramento river. The majestic size of sundial is a landmark if Redding.
Rajesh R — Google review
The Redding Sundial Bridge is a magnificent engineering masterpiece. It is the largest working sundial in the world that is most accurate during the solstices and its shadow accurately tracks time daily from approximately 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM. The Sundial Bridge was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. The walkway has stunning views of the Sacramento River with all its wildlife and spectacular scenic views of the mountains.
Simona V — Google review
Very beautiful bridge day and nite. The only down side was there isn't much other things to do around, which makes our driving distance of about 4 hours each way not really worth it. I'd say it's a great attraction if you live closer or if you are on the way to somewhere else on a road trip, or here for hiking or rafting. The hotel right next to it is not worth it's value. I would recommend to stay a little further and save some money. The only value of it was the walking distance to the bridge. (Star did not deduct for this cause the main review was for the attraction)

Turtle Bay Exploration Park is a sprawling 300-acre natural history haven that offers an enriching blend of experiences for nature lovers and culture enthusiasts alike. This park features a captivating museum showcasing both permanent and temporary exhibits that delve into the region's cultural, artistic, and scientific heritage. Visitors can explore interactive displays, admire local artworks, or even step inside a recreated Native American bark house. The park also boasts the stunning McConnell Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, where beautifully curated landscapes invite exploration.
This place is a lot of fun for all ages. They have art like beautiful trash sculptures and a Lego model of the Sundial Bridge. They have animals like fish, ducks, frogs and more. The staff were friendly. There was a lot of historical facts and cool relics

Great animal show! We loved the butterfly exhibit and the parrots! Perfect place to bring children, or like us a day time date. I recommend going early to beat the heat.

A Magical Night at Glowing Wild – Redding’s Radiant Hidden Gem If you’re looking for a night of wonder, beauty, and unforgettable memories in Redding, look no further than Glowing Wild. This lantern festival is unlike anything else in Northern California—an awe-inspiring blend of art, nature, and light that feels straight out of a fairytale. From the moment you step through the entrance, you're transported into a dreamlike world filled with giant illuminated sculptures. Towering tigers, graceful dolphins, luminous butterflies, and glowing floral arches line the walking paths, each more breathtaking than the last. The colors are vivid, the craftsmanship is exquisite, and the atmosphere is pure magic. What makes Glowing Wild truly special is how it transforms the familiar landscape of Turtle Bay and the McConnell Botanical Gardens into something otherworldly. The lanterns are perfectly placed to complement the natural surroundings, and as the sun sets, the entire area begins to glow with warmth and wonder. The iconic Sundial Bridge lit up in the background only adds to the surreal beauty.

We enjoyed our visit inside with several exhibits from fish to Legos to a steam punk special. Small but fresh and well curated. The outside was even more special with playgrounds, reptile house, and our favorite the buddies! 😍

What a fun family trip!! We are from southern Oregon and decided to check out Redding for the first time, with this being our first stop… and it did NOT disappoint!!! Everybody had an amazing time, my daughter is 12 and my son is 5 and both of them said that it was the best day. Beautiful well maintained landscaping and animal enclosures, extremely friendly staff. Tons of free giveaway stuff, perfect entertainment for the little ones! You can feed parrots - so fun! And during season you can go inside the butterfly house. It was extremely hot and humid when we went, it would have been nice if they had misters along the walkway/benches but other than that, such a fun memorable experience and we will definitely be back!!! Highly recommend
Kels — Google review
The park is 5 stars easy, very beautiful area, the museum I would give 3.5. It's interesting, not too big but I liked the birds and was there was a Steam Punk exhibit which was nice. The remaining areas were nice but somewhat limited. Some of the animals are in rather small enclosures. It's a bit expensive for a family visiting and maybe getting a souvenir or two. Older kids may get bored after an hour and for $22 each it would not be worth it. I recommend going to the park, hiking, enjoying the bridge, nature, and the many wild animals you can find in the park. I saw deer and a skunk among other things.
Remey R — Google review
This experience was amazing. There are so many things to do included in the admission fee. Our favorites were the dinosaur exhibit, butterfly house, and the bird house. Aside from the favorites everything else was great also. Something fun is that most of the exhibits have things for kids to touch. Hands on learning is when my daughter has the most fun so I appreciated this experience.
Carmen C — Google review
This place was amazing! Outdoor play areas and shows teaching kids about the wildlife in the park and within the area. The highlight for my kids were the butterfly conservatory and the parrot house - the kids got to look at both close up and really enjoyed identifying the different types. The train was also fun, and takes you over the Sundial bridge, which is beautiful! There's plenty of parking and the staff were really friendly and helpful. All in all, a good full day of fun with the kids :)

Nature & Parks
Caldwell Park is a spacious public green space located in Riverside, offering various amenities for visitors to enjoy. The park features picnic and BBQ areas, a gazebo, and a skate park, making it an ideal spot for families. Children can have fun at the play areas and splash pad during the summer months. Additionally, there are trails for leisurely walks or more challenging hikes, as well as a dog park and horse trails.
This is a great park with lots of different things to do. There is a large pool with 2 water slides, a skate park, river accessibility, nice trails, playground, fish viewing area along the river and many other fun options for pretty much anybody. I took some photos the other day of the river flooding much of the waters edge after all this rain. If you found this review useful please like my post. Thanks

Nice park. Well kept. Some druggies roaming. Busy often. Large space though. Playground, Water, & public bathrooms are all available as well.

A super awesome spot to hang out with your family. Has a really cool outdoor dirt bike track, playground and a pool. You can walk beside the river and has lots of beautiful trees and green grass. You should definitely check it out. I'm glad I did!
Nicole R — Google review
One of the only places in Redding that actually has shade, and abundant shade at that. Park is beautiful although not much to do or see unless your a kid which is pleasing to say they do have a skate park, and bike jumps, and swimming pool/slide, and a volleyball court as well. other then that, there's various seating and benches spread thru out the park and only dislike is that each bench or table is so far from the next. But at least there's shade.:) There's always a lot of activities going on there but if your not involved in the activities yourself, it's still nice to walk thru and sit in the park and watch the big flock of geese wander from visitor to visitor, or chase each other. Never a dull moment yet the place to rest and relax as well.
BossBabeGngstaMade — Google review
Caldwell Park used to be a gem, but it's really gone downhill. My husband and I recently visited, and it was a shadow of the beautiful place I remember. The lack of maintenance is immediately obvious—the landscaping is a mess, there are dried-up dirt piles where trees are missing, and even fallen trees that haven't been cleared away. What's more, the park no longer feels safe. We saw a lot of sketchy individuals and even someone who seemed to be living out of their camper with a generator running. We didn't feel comfortable leaving our car and didn't stay long. It's truly sad, as this was once the perfect spot for family outings; my daughter even had her first birthday here. To make matters worse, people on motorized rental scooters were riding at high speeds with no regard for anyone else. We even saw a teenager chasing the geese on one. It's a shame to see a place that once felt so peaceful and well-kept become so neglected and, frankly, unsafe. I wouldn't recommend it and certainly wouldn't bring my grandkids here.

Brewpub
Restaurant
Final Draft Brewing Company offers a dog-friendly patio where you can enjoy their delicious craft beers like the Attention Deficit imperial IPA and the Julie Brown American Brown. Their Baja Burger with chili peppers is highly recommended, accompanied by crispy beer-battered fries and homemade onion rings. The restaurant provides a wide variety of affordable options, including sandwiches, burgers, chicken dishes, salads, and pub food. It's also family-friendly with hot and fresh food served by friendly staff.
Brewery with good quality food menu is hard to come by. This is the place to come back again. Great selection of beers and ciders. Delicious food. I really like their dressings for the salad. The ranch and blue cheese just worked magic with the salad. Beer batter cod fish with potato totes was tasty. My friend had ahi tuna salad and he said it was good texture and taste. Friendly staff and food served in reasonably time.

We came here on a Sunday evening and it was pretty empty. The space is big so even when it is full, it will not feel cramped up. There is indoor and patio seating. We sat indoors. We ordered the Crazy Pills pilsner and the Red raspberry kombucha. We got an order of chicken wings with honey BBQ sauce to share. The pilsner was ok. The kombucha was excellent but from a can! If I can buy some of it online, I plan to. The wings were decent with lots of sauce and a well-cooked chicken. They had a baseball game on their monitors so we had fun grabbing drinks, eating and watching the game. Our server was friendly and prompt with suggestions. Good experience overall. They have a good list of beers and also some wines so there is a little something for everyone.

Highly Recommend and what a wonderful brewery!! Do not miss this stop when in Redding. Not only is this a large spacious venue with plenty of outside and inside seating plus seating at the bar but their beer and food menu is quite vast with lots of variety for veggie and non veggie fans. Very unique and great flavors. What Amazed me the most was the Wonderful staff and definitely will be back. They are on it, friendly, courteous and do their best to make you have a great experience. Thank you!! 🙏🏼

The showstopper was delicious. It was cooked properly at medium. The tots had an alioli sauce. The dirty fries was why it didn’t get a 5. The large chunks of brisket were hard to eat with the fries and the pieces were fatty. The tasters for stouts were perfect size to try a variety of flavors.
Leah C — Google review
A satisfying brewery & restaurant in Redding,CA downtown. Parking was easy on street outside. Brewery has a wide selection, especially of fruit-inspired beers & imperial IPAs. Fish tacos were great.
Nicole H — Google review
Entering this place I was immediately intrigued. I liked that open feeling and the atmosphere. Greeted with smiles right away, the servers were attentive and also gave us space to enjoy ourselves. My primary server, John had an amazing attitude. And the food....well chosing was hard so asked for advice. It was really good advice. The BBQ Brisket burger was the best I have ever had, and the appetizers were another struggle to chose, but the pretzel bites seemed safest (as a new food place). They were great, and the cheese sauce was over the top. All in all it was a great experience. I highly recommend.
Colin B — Google review
Food was Fantastic, had to pick up something in Redding and decided to eat here and now all I want to do is go back. The wings with the Peanut Butter Sauce was to die for, it sounds odd but it was DELICIOUS as a picky eater! Our server was very nice and we got great service even on a busy Labor Day, Place also has a good nice and open atmosphere showing off their giant kegs of beer buns the bar.

Restaurant
Fusion Lounge is a laid-back eatery and bar that offers a blend of American cuisine with an Asian influence. The menu features dishes like Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Fried Tempura with three sauces, and Ho-Fun noodles with steak. While some found the noodles a bit salty, others enjoyed the flavors. The bar serves standard drinks and has a casual atmosphere with TVs showing sports. Visitors praised the attentive service and recommended arriving early for happy hour specials.
I have no complaints, not one. This is definitely up and up. Like my wife said it's like Thai food. Went down to Mexico and came back fat and happy and pregnant. This food is delicious and is a must try. The service was amazing. The atmosphere was amazing. The food was godlike to be straight up. Honest I could not find no faults outside of the parking was a little bit difficult but well worth it.

I really like the style of this restaurant. The food is delicious😋. The waiter is very enthusiastic, cheerful and lively😍 and very beautiful. It is very comfortable whether you come here to eat or drink. I also found that the business hours on Fridays and Saturdays are until 12:00 in the evening. This is great. Next time I must bring my good friends to eat supper and drink together🥂

Clean, well maintained, with a pleasant modern atmosphere. The food was delicious with huge portions. The server was the exact level of attentive I like. She showed up only exactly when we needed her, and when we did picked up a conversation with her, she was a genuine and friendly person. Over all, this would be a new regular stop if i lived in the area, but the friend i was with definitely did say this is gonna be a regular for her and her partner. Next time i visit Redding, though, you bet your butt im coming back.
Ruby H — Google review
Food was really good, flavors were awesome. However our 2 dishes needed more "Fusion Sauce", especially since the sauce is amazing. Tacos with superb tri-tip, good flavors, but more sauce in the side. The Melvin was reportedly good, but the mixing of ingredients inside the burrito was lacking, and again, more sauce! Also had the Mac and Cheese Balls, which were good, but needed salt and the onion rings which also needed salt. The battery on the rings and the cook on the rings was perfect, if a little greasy. Waitress was kind, pleasant, and patient, but also a little inattentive. The atmosphere was a little on the loud side even without customers, and the furniture very broken down. But everything was clean.
Jake W — Google review
Great food and good location. Service could be better, giving them the benefit of doubt, we got in at 8 for dinner so assuming the servers were tired for the day ! They are open late in the evening for late dinners.
Kiran E — Google review
Service is slow. Waited 10 minutes for drinks to come, and 40 minutes for food to come. We had Prime Rib and Fusion Salad, the Prime Rib is marinated as this is a fusion restaurant; however, it was so salty like it was dipped into salt of soy sauce. The bacon on the salad was just as salty as well.
Robert Y — Google review
The utter dissapointment that overwhelmed me when i received my “meal” could kill a horse. Speaking of horses, this meal is something more akin to livestock feed. EIGHTEEN DOLLARS I paid for this bowl of grass. I was given 7 morsels of edible meat that I sparingly consumed, my great grandmother ate heartier meals during the great depression. Nowhere on the menu did it say salad yet I was handed a bushel of grass. No part of this meal was worth the almost $19 that I put up for it, the salad was just an arugala salad mix from the grocery store with nothing added to it besides a quarter of a diced shallot. The only time I will ever come back to this resturaunt will be to buy feed for my cows. The bowl was made of this flavorless oily particle board that I nearly died eating. Purchasing this meal put me in a financial downfall and perpetually ruined not only my night but my week. Do not come here if you want a decent meal for a decent price, the only thing they know how to fuse is dissapointment and “food”.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Market St. Pizza for the first time, and as someone who has been a pizza enthusiast for over 30 years, I found their pizza to be nearly flawless. My only regret is not discovering this place sooner. The staff was friendly, and the pizza arrived faster than anticipated, tasting absolutely delicious. I highly recommend trying this establishment, especially if you're looking for a new go-to spot since Upper Crust closed down.
Market Street Pizza and Deli is excellent in every way. The owner is incredibly kind and hardworking and the atmosphere feels like a true piece of classic Americana. Their all you can eat pizza and salad bar is honestly magical, fresh, delicious, and always satisfying. The prices are unbeatable for the quality you get both when dining in and when ordering delivery. The pizza is always top notch and the service is just as good. This place is a hidden gem. Do yourself a favor and try it today.

We drive 2 hours for the meatball sandwich; plus we get pizza. We always have leftovers. The owner met us rhe first time and he was great friendly guy. It's cool when we get a chance to go it other customers come in to order or pick up he usually talks to them by name. Great customer service. Their was a kids team in there and he was friendly to the parents and kids. Best Meatball Sandwich around !!!

Got a meatball sandwich and a calzone, both were very good. Meatball sandwich was made on garlic bread and super toasty after being put through a pizza oven. Calzone was packed with toppings and the dough was flavorful with a nice chew, exactly what I wanted after getting off work. I had a to go order, but the vibes and decor of the place was very cozy and I can see myself going back for a sit down meal when I have more time. The smell of fresh pizza greets you as soon as you open the door, truly wonderful.

Shout out to Market Street Pizza Thank you to Rick and his crew. Tonight my wife, my step-daughter Zoe and I went to eat at our favorite pizza joint looking forward to their allyoucaneat buffet that they have 7 days a week. The ONLY pizza place that has an all you can eat pizza and salad 7days a week from open to close. Rick is an awesome owner. He always treats us well when we come in late for dinner. Always look forward to going again. Pizza is awesome as well.

I guess he's the owner, idk, but the gentleman working there had exceptional customer service and right away made fresh pizzas according to our preferences! He was super kind, very helpful and made sure we had extra plates and utensils so we could feed our baby twins and 4 year old. Not only was his customer service exceptional, but his pizza is some of the best of the best in town!!! The crust beat most other pizza crust from other pizza places in town!!!

Pleasantly Surprised 😮 Double 👌 WOW. We were greeted by two smiling faces to show us to our table. Then the most amazing, friendly, knowledgeable waiter walked us through the incredible menus and ASSURED US that we would hands down be eating the most delicious food in Redding. He was right! We were given all the menus which included cocktails 🍸, beer, seasonal menus alongside the daily offering menu. There is no way anyone can come in, and not find a dish they love. From Duck, Steak, Seafood, Poultry right down to specialty soups and salads. My meal consisted of the chicken artichoke and Brie crostini as my appetizer along with a smoked apple butter old fashioned (Yummy) . It was Amazing. Then I had a beautiful salad which I might say they have multiple dressings which I appreciate. I had a lemon vinaigrette and poppy seed with blue cheese crumbles over my salad. I had ordered the pork chop which was served with caramelized onions and seared with apple butter on the top of the pork chop. Under was a plentiful potato cake and let me tell you.......... it was absolutely delicious melt in my mouth Sensational. The chef did an amazing job. We finished off our meal with a New York cheesecake made in house with a raspberry puree that was also made in house. Let me tell you "it was so delicious I'm still thinking about the meal today". Another thing I appreciated is the restaurant was well staffed. They were A WELL OILED MACHINE that worked perfectly in Sync. The owner was gracious, friendly and checking on his customers and showed deep appreciation for his staff. So important these days to work with an interested and present owner. I was close to the kitchen and "The Chef was precise and efficient with his time". He did not allow his creations to sit idle in waiting. I loved my experience and this restaurant FAR SURPASSED MY EXPECTATIONS. 😃 For the record, I do not know anyone from this establishment. I however am a hardworking individual who is tired of paying good money for mediocre food and I finally found a gem !

The food is fantastic, the price for the quality is there for sure. The drinks are just as good as the food. The steak was cooked perfectly, melted in the mouth. I also tried the oyster shooter appetizer, it could have used a smokey flavor mixed in besides the Sriracha in my opinion, but it wasn't bad. Great flavor options here and I will come back to try more in the future.

This is a great place for business lunches, special dinners & drinks with friends. The staff is amazing & if you want the best appetizer ever, just order the "Chicken Artichoke & Brie Crostinis". Amazing food, service & atmosphere. Love supporting this locally owned restaurant.

Went for Sunday Brunch. It was very good. Great company and food.
Joie T — Google review
For a to-go order on Easter Sunday afternoon, the service was a highlight – attentive, kind, and engaging without being overbearing. The ambiance of the restaurant suggested a pleasant fine-dining experience. We came in during a rush and had to wait roughly 35+ minutes but understandable as we imagine not to much stuff on hand for a family holiday at 4pm. Unfortunately, the entrees didn't live up to the same standard. The $57 beef short rib was a small portion, and the accompanying au jus was bitter, overly thick, and too salty. Also surprised there was a decision to not have mash potatoes for braised short ribs. The pork chops were adequately cooked and good sized chop with an apple sauce reduction, not too sure if anything was added to reduction as it just tasted like apple sauce. The French onion soup was average. In hindsight, and based on other reviews, it seems the steak dishes or burger are the recommended choices here. The drinks and happy hour menu looked interesting, and I'm inclined to give those a try in the future. Overall, though, our $130 meal was a disappointing experience. I would suggest giving them a chance but go with other food items.

Hands down the best spot in Redding. It's so hard to find good food in this area but this place was so amazing and the service was excellent. The onion soup, chilli con carne soup, shrimp tacos and the wagyu slides were so delicious. It was quality a must try and our new favorite spot.

Very good, flavorful pizza and cheese sticks. Will definitely order again before leaving

Check your pizza before they leave on deliveries or before you leave the store. I got my delivery and both pizza's are completely raw dough besides a small sliver of crust. Had to put them in my oven to cook them. If I wanted the hassle of take and bake pizza I would have ordered papa murphy's!

Day 2

North side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the north side side of town. Start the day off with Mt. Shasta Mall, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Bartels Giant Burger. All together, your day would be filled with about 6 hours of non-stop fun.

Mt. Shasta Mall

Shopping mall
Nestled in Redding, California, Mt. Shasta Mall is a charming shopping destination offering a variety of brand-name retailers and dining options. Boasting over 69 stores, this regional shopping center provides visitors with an array of choices for retail therapy and entertainment. With its scenic landscaping and vibrant amenities, the mall also features a family restroom and kids' play area, making it an ideal spot for families to enjoy a day out.
Very busy because it is Christmas time. It's a smaller but very nice mall. Lots of shops to get things at. Several nice food places that serve more snack type food than meals. The restrooms were clean and tidy. You can not get to the Home Goods store from the mall even though the store is attached to the mall. You have to enter the Home Good from the outside.
Jeremy — Google review
Great mall, ton of memories too! It's just the mall seems more empty even on the weekends, it's less well active and I feel very nostalgic for it. Weather the malls dieing or not it's great, well kept and clean!

Honestly, some places like Macy's can be super pricey. But I would say the quality is worth it. It's really fun to hang around cause they seem to have a bit of everything.. The staff is always super nice however obviously everyone can have their bad days. I really like that they have An arcade so kids can have fun too.

More lively than our local mall in Eureka. Sad to see that some smaller shops had closed since our last visit a few months ago. Clean shopping experience here. Very friendly people at bath & body works and the candle store. Always stop in See's candies as well!
Raven K — Google review
I enjoy going to the mall for Box Lunch and Auntie Anne's with my family, but thats pretty much it. Not many stores that are different from each other, only 2 places for food in there and you can't really get a meal there. You'd need to go to the restaurants surrounding the mall outside, which kind of sucks if its 100+ degrees outside

I don't know, I'm not a 14 year old girl so I only go there when I have to... I _have_ gotten drunk and the bar there and had a good time though. Well, by good time I mean pretending I'm terrible at pool then mopping the floor with anyone I played. It was so weird, I'm good at pool, but the more drunk I got that night, the better I played. I was there with this girl that was wayyy out of my league, but I screwed it up like I always did back then, and she left me a couple weeks after that... Anyways 10 outta 10 would recommend

It’s nice in all but it is really busy and you usually have to wait in long line but over all it’s acually amazing it has so many places to go and there’s a play ground for kids there’s food eneameint and during Christmas month there Santa clause and there nice bathrooms warm water and my favorite store there is famous foot where I think it’s good in my opion but 1 issues is everything is overly complicated and expensive so I would rate 5 stars when the fix these issues also I would like if they added a Starbucks area. Also it would be nice if the people n the small booths did not keep a going tying to sell there prouducts with you.
Gracelyn M — Google review
Don't even bother, there's nothing in here, this place was good when my older brother was growing up and when he worked here but now it just sucks. The food court is a mere shell of what it used to be, they used to have doughnuts, subway, pizza, (non Panda express Chinese, Japanese, and a panda express). Plus it needs more stores. The stores suck!

Thai restaurant
Champa Garden Restaurant is a hidden gem located in Redding, offering delicious and authentic Thai cuisine. Despite its unassuming exterior, the restaurant attracts a steady stream of customers every night. The menu features a variety of Southeast Asian dishes, including Thai favorites and Laotian specialties. Visitors rave about the perfectly balanced flavors of their Pad Thai and the rich and creamy texture of their curries. The service is quick and attentive, making for an enjoyable dining experience overall.
My new goal is to try everything because it is phenomenal and full of flavor. When they say spicy they mean it! Pictured is chicken pho, pair of quail (highly recommend these succulent little birds!), and Thai papaya salad.

So me and the kid wandered in here after Comicon and we have never eaten here before. This Tia place is awesome! The food was so delicious! Even my 16 year old said his soup was amazing. He never had a soup with bean noodles before and he loved it. He even asked if we could take one of them home to cook for us. Then there was the extreme friendliness of the entire staff that the 16 year old also noticed and commented on! Jack was very helpful, and our waitress Rose was also beyond kind and courteous. I was so impressed with the meal, I went to compliment the cook, and it turned out he was the owner! Well done Sai! I forgot what I had was called, but it had chicken, onions, mint, served with cucumbers and leaf lettuce. It was served in the old Korean style of bulgogi Rice I use to have when I was stationed at Kwang-Ju AB, Korea! Big was also helpful. This place operated like a well oiled machine, and the food came out very very quick. So I highly recommend this place! We will definitely be back, all the way from Red Bluff!

Excellent food and amazing staff!! The Nam Kaow, Basil fried rice with chicken and pad see you were fantastic. I love spicy, so will go to 4 out 5 for spice level but 3 was really really good. Will be back for sure

The people who work there are completely incompetent, and the food is terrible. I placed a phone order for a pineapple fried rice and was quoted 15 minutes. When I arrived, the guy couldn't locate my order and finally found it on the counter. I gave him my credit card and went to the restroom to wash my hands, and they left the food unsupervised, and someone else took the food. I spent another 15 minutes waiting for my order. When I finally got the food, it was very greasy, undercooked, and smelled like old rice. I couldn't even eat half of the food and ended up going somewhere else. I don't understand how they have such positive ratings.

This place is phenomenal! The pho is delicious and the staff is so friendly. I always get the beef pho and the staff even gave me extra broth for free one time. The broth is so rich and flavorful. Highly recommended.
Claire H — Google review
My only complaint has to do with the service. The food was tasty, and the hostess was super friendly, offering water while we waited for a table. However, her energy felt rushed. The whole atmosphere feels rushed. She offered us a menu while we were waiting and then asked if we wanted her to take our order before sitting down. That should have been a red flag that they would try to rush us out so they could turn the table. I probably would have been fine with all of that, but when the waiter brought our food, he flung it onto the table so fast it gave me whiplash. No interaction with us. My husband asked for another beer. We weren’t sure he even heard us, but a couple of minutes later he brought a beer, saying, “You asked for another beer, right?” I’m happy this place is popular and that they’re able to turn tables around so fast, but the place feels rushed and not the type of restaurant that makes you feel welcome to sit and enjoy your food. This place would be great if the waitstaff just took a couple of extra seconds to acknowledge their customers. There is room for improvement. To the male waiter — you do not need to power-walk around the restaurant flinging food onto the tables. It ruins the ambiance. Slow down a little; it would make for a much better experience for your customers.

Delightful Experience: I recently dined at Champa Garden Restaurant on a bustling Friday evening at 6 pm, and despite the rush, my experience was nothing short of delightful. My party and I ordered a variety of dishes including the avocado spring rolls, pad kea moa, pad thai, and chow mein with beef, and each dish exceeded our expectations. Despite being short-staffed, the wait was surprisingly short, which speaks volumes about the efficiency and dedication of the team. The staff members were incredibly accommodating, friendly, and attentive, ensuring that despite the busy atmosphere, we felt well taken care of throughout our meal. Their warmth and professionalism truly added to the overall dining experience. As for the food, each dish was prepared with care and attention to detail, resulting in flavors that were nothing short of exceptional. The avocado spring rolls were fresh and packed with flavor we ate most of them before taking the photo lol, while the pad kea moa, pad thai, and chow mein with beef were all cooked to perfection, showcasing a delicious blend of ingredients and spices.

Food and service were great! Went in during dinner rush, got seated within 25 mins! Our server was Dion, he was super sweet and we requested a booth and he instantly moved us! We got rustlers rib eye and the sheriffs. Both steaks came out so good!! Dion was SUPER good to us! We enjoyed it!

Went on a Thursday night for happy hour. Ordered a drink, tumbleweed onions, and 2 happy hour items. We got the drink and onions right away which started fine and they tasted good. But after 40+ min there was no progress on the food and we hadn't seen the waitress. Finally she brought out the next appetizer and I asked for the check to help speed up the process even though we still hadn't gotten the last item. The bill charged us full price for the happy hour item and once again she was nowhere to be found. After about 15 more min I finally went up to the bartender and he was able to fix the price and cancel the tacos in ordered since I was done waiting after an hour of them not showing up. The food we did get tasted pretty good but be warned about the tumble weed onions, the closer to the bottom of the pan we got the more oily they were. Probably wouldn't have been to biggest issue except that was basically all we ate since the food didn't come and it left us regretting even that food with how bad our stomachs were feeling that night. We were planning on ordering more drinks and dessert but obviously not.

Very large portions. This is my husband's favorite steakhouse and we visit anytime we come to town. They're loaded mashed potatoes are the best we have ever had. The staff is always exceptional and accommodating. We were traveling and they even moved a table around so that I could charge my mobility chair while we enjoyed our dinner. I feel like everyone here goes above and beyond for the guests and the food is delicious!

We had carry out. The steak burger and cheese burger were very good. I would give it 4.5 stars but our order took awhile and notifications were late. There were also out of BBQ sauce for the whiskey burger but they quickly called and let us substitute w/o cost and seemed to give us extra fries and broccoli. Some of the staff seemed confused at pick up but again, very good food, We didn’t eat there but looking at the dining room and bar it seemed rather dated but it is a good old school steakhouse. I liked all the historical pictures of the area also. I’d go back.

C.R. Gibbs American Grille is a relaxed restaurant and bar located in Redding, CA, attached to the Best Western hotel. The menu offers a variety of classic American dishes such as burgers, sandwiches, and salads. The restaurant features indoor and outdoor seating with an inviting atmosphere. While some patrons found the prices to be typical for this type of dining experience, others felt that certain items were on the pricier side.
We’re passing through town and our hotel was adjacent to the restaurant. I had the bbq pulled pork pizza and I really enjoyed it. The combination of the bbq sauce and the smoky pulled pork with the rest of the ingredients were spot on. Our dining experience was great, waitstaff were attentive and pleasant. Prices were a bit high for me but feel the food quality was worth it.
Mark M — Google review
C.R. Gibbs is a very clean and comfortable place with modern aesthetics. The food is pricier, but you should expect that with a more refined menu that uses whole food ingredients as well as the more upscale ambiance. We had the poke nachos and fried grean beans. The nachos were pretty good, but I think it needs a sweeter, sesame sauce to really compliment the fish and other ingredients better. I only say this because I've had the far superior poke nachos from The Yardhouse. These were still very good nachos. This is just my own personal opinion, ofcourse. The fried green beans come with a ginger jalapeno aioli and it did not disappoint. This aioli was very good with the poke nachos. The green beans were crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside, and paired wonderfully with creamy and flavorful the aioli. We were treated well and cared for by the staff as well as you would expect. Good, not great, not bad, just good. 😃 No complaints.

I went to C.R. Gibbs to celebrate my 30th birthday with a party of 10, and it was such a great experience! We only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated on a busy Friday night, and our server was quick to get waters for the table right away. The indoor atmosphere was perfect—warm but not too hot, with inviting lighting that made it feel like the kind of restaurant where you’d want to celebrate a milestone. Most of our group ordered the famous fish and chips, and they did not disappoint! The batter was perfectly crisp, the fish was light and flaky with delicious flavor, and the fries were cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the steak, and it cut like butter with amazing flavor. To top it off, the staff surprised me with ice cream and a candle to blow out while singing happy birthday, which made me feel so special. We were the last table to leave that night, but the team never rushed us—they were kind and gracious until the end. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Bartels USED TO BE the best burger place in town. I haven't been there in quite some time, so since I have someone from out of town, I decided to take them there. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! The burgers were tasteless. No salt, no pepper, no nothing to season. Not to mention that my visitor has dietary restrictions and his whole order was messed up. The gal wrote everything down correctly, but the cook didn't bother to read the ticket. Just a great, overall disappointment.

I am one of these guys with a really complicated order. Number 55 as a bowl, no cheese, double meat, double veg, add portobello mushrooms, add cold veg. Will took my order with no problems and personally put the whole thing together. When he brought the order to my table (unexpected) he made sure to ask me if everything looked okay. DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY, they screw up my order ALMOST every time when I order delivery but when I go in person I never have a problem. This is the fourth time my order had been wrong when ordered by delivery and it’s getting ridiculous. This last time I ordered a bacon ranch chicken cheese steak and I got a Philly cheese steak. The sandwich has two completely different meats and toppings, how are you getting that mixed up.

Don't let a long line scare you, these friendly folks are very efficient. There isn't much to recommend the "Atmosphere" of Jersey Mike's because the food is the focus and it's prepared & delivered by an eager, friendly mob of mostly youngsters. And the food is fantastic. I look for any excuse these days to be in that part of town at lunch or dinner time, and my wife appreciates not having to heat up the kitchen & house if I get a fresh sandwich home for dinner. Locally, the Redding store offers a military discount of 15% (!) as well as an unbeatable meal. As our local 'S**way' is closing stores it's great to have Jersey Mike's open in the retail heart of town.

Last night was the first time I've ever eaten here before. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch and it was disgusting! The texture of their chicken is sandpapery and weird. Alehouse Pub is a charming, vintage tavern that offers a diverse selection of distinctive artisanal brews on tap and in bottles. By chance, I stumbled upon this establishment on October 30th after partaking in the Nash Ranch Dreams of Darkness event, where I was wearing a costume. To my delight, the bar was bustling with patrons dressed for the occasion. Some individuals displayed friendliness, perhaps due to their jovial state or unfamiliarity with one another.
Excellent place for a true craft beer enthusiast. Balanced offerings from BA stouts to hard to find IPAs. The owner claims to offer over 700 different beers through out the year and I 100% believe him.

Surrounded by numerous hotels, that house mostly construction workers, freight movers, and road trip passerbys, this place exudes serious locals/working class only vibes. But with a craft beer twist. Better head to the liquor store if you want domestic. Unfortunately the execution is lazy and typical of a place that only cares to cater to their regulars who order the same things every visit. The place isn't big, and has their menu posted on a chalkboard in the center of the bar. It can barely be read due to poor lighting and the fact that someone thought it a good idea to use dark green chalk. 30+taps but don't expect them all to be available. Coupled with multiple taps dedicated to single breweries, don't expect as much variety as implied. The variety was objectively above average; 3 nitro, 2 sours, 2 ciders, a few IPA (no hazy), 3 Belgian strong but also decidedly skewed with 5 seltzers, 1 lager, and no red, brown, or pale ales. Most of the beers are from California breweries south of Redding. Ashame nothing was hyper local. Bottles were virtually non-existent. I'm sure the list will change somewhat in a few weeks to months, but don't expect anything else to. Bring your own food. Last call is at 1030pm. Be prepared to be outta there by 11 sharp.

Ordered two drinks, the total being less than $20. Left the bartender a cash tip. I checked my account a few days later, and saw that I was charged $20 even. Meaning, the bartender added a tip to the receipt without my consent. Called the owner, or, a gentleman I assume is the owner and heard nothing back. Very shady and unprofessional. Be warry of this establishment.

What a gem to come across in this town in the middle of nowhere! Lots of craft brews on both tap and bottle, friendly and efficient service, great music playing on the stereo, and small and intimate atmosphere. If one is into the craft beer scene this is definitely the place to go in Redding. Highly recommended. No kitchen here though.

Nice little place off the main road. Eclectic selection of brews. There is also other items for the non beer drinkers.

Dive bar with heavy metal music. Cute bartender and a good selection of beer on tap. If you are staying at the La Quinta Inn, it is conveniently located right across the street.

We ended up here by chance on October 30th after we did the Nash Ranch Dreams of Darkness, so were wer in costume. Glad to the bar was full of costumed revelers, as well! A few ppl were friendly, not sure if it was bc everyone was already well-toasted or bc we were unfamiliar, folks seemed to know each other. Pleasant enough, we stayed awhile before our hour drive back south to the hinterlands.

Love the beer selection. Even in summer they have something for everyone. Being able to order takeout from a restaurant and bring it in to enjoy with our beer was a major perk. Friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere. 👌 🍺

The last few times we've gone to this Subway, Param has been there to make our sandwiches. The veggies are always super fresh, she does an awesome job at making the sandwiches, and she's pretty funny too! Thanks for making our morning with these delicious sandwiches Param!
Stephanie M — Google review
Pam made my sandwich amazing! My sandwich was better than I expected from other subway experiences. The employees were really nice. I also really appreciate how late they are open compared to the other locations in Redding.
Justhelena — Google review
Seriously one of the all time best Subway experiences EVER! Param made our sandwiches top notch grade A - AWESOME. Just Walking in alone at this location was incredible as the smell of fresh veggies and fresh baked bread was in the air, fully satisfying the sensation of smell alone. The ingredients provided were among the freshest and cleanest looking of my experiences. Straight out of a movie within a grocery store. Param was very friendly and fun when making our sandwiches, and provided excellent customer service. 10/10 was super happy and satisfied. Can't wait for my next sandwich!

Subway has always been my favorite. My husband and I went to this Subway at Hilltop to grab dinner for tonight. The place was clean and organized inside, staff were accommodating, especially Singh who made sure that we were satisfied with our orders before we left.

I was served by Singh. He was super kind and accommodating of our requests. Very sharp and meticulous. The restaurant is hygienic and ingredients were fresh. I particularly liked the diligence and attention to details. This is what is called excellent customer service.

Fine dining restaurant
View 202 offers a modern dining experience with a stunning lounge-style patio that provides scenic views. Despite some challenges with the weather and staffing, the restaurant's service was quick and helpful. The food received positive feedback, particularly the blackened chicken and short rib meat gnocchi. The staff also accommodated dietary restrictions by offering gluten-free options. Guests appreciated the hospitable hosts, generous portions of delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, and great wine selection at this lovely venue for gatherings with friends or family.
It was my first visit to View 202 this afternoon. We walked in and were greeted by a friendly, bearded bartender and were quickly served at the bar. There were only a few people at the restaurant during our visit so we had the place to ourselves. We opted to take our drinks and sit outside on the patio. It was a relatively hot early August afternoon but the view was exceptional and the overhead misters were a nice addition. Our server was cool, prompt and courteous. The burger was as good of a burger that I've had in a long time. I will definitely be back! Thanks for the great experience View 202!

The Deck – Redding’s Premier Dining Experience Formerly known as View 202, and before that, Hatch Cover, The Deck has truly evolved into something special. For those of us who grew up loving this iconic Redding location, the transformation is both nostalgic and exciting. Now modern, sleek, and classy, The Deck delivers a refined dining experience with unmatched views of the Sacramento River, Mt. Shasta, and the surrounding beauty of Redding through its stunning floor-to-ceiling glass panels. They’ve added a gorgeous outdoor pizza oven and a cozy fire pit that creates a perfect atmosphere to relax and take it all in. On Thursdays, they welcome dogs on the deck — honestly, they should consider making every day dog-friendly because this place is made for good vibes and great company. The name The Deck is a brilliant marketing move — simple, memorable, and fitting. I flirted with the idea of calling it The View Deck for nostalgia’s sake, but no, The Deck is perfect. As for the team — Joe, the General Manager, brings leadership and heart to the operation. Julia, the Executive MasterChef, is clearly a master of her craft; the food reflects it. And my servers, Sophia & Sam, were excellent — professional, attentive, and absolutely lovely. All in all, The Deck is easily one of the best dining experiences in Redding. The only rival might be Riverview Country Club, but when it comes to ambiance, location, and energy — The Deck is in a league of its own.

Absolutely exceptional food!! From the calamari to the scallops and Halibut to the duck, everything was exquisite! Topped off with flour less chocolate cake.
Vinod P — Google review
Going in with very high expectations of this place I am disappointed to say those expectations were not met. We came in knowing that it was going to be a pricier experience, however we just felt overall, it didn’t feel like it was worth how much we paid. We had an amazing server, Peter, who honestly was our saving grace. He made the atmosphere great and was so sweet and helpful. As an appetizer we ordered the calamari, which was just kind of wet and didn’t make for a pleasant dining experience. We also got the bread and that was amazing. For entrees, we got the lamb shank that came with saffron risotto and the filet mignon. The filet was so good! However, we didn’t feel the portion sizes were big enough for the price. The lamb and risotto are the biggest reason why I’m writing this. I’ve had risotto before and the one at view202 was off, I don’t know what about it, but it was just not good. The broccoli was good though! Overall, we hope to come back and try other dishes. This was just a very disappointing first experience.

First time there and had high expectations and left extremely disappointed. Our group sat outside and allotted 2 hours for our experience and had to go ask for our order to be taken. And had to track our waitress down to pay our bill so we could leave and make our next engagement on time. We ordered the $33 charcuterie board and first of all, it’s not much, secondly some of the fruit was rotten and the cucumbers were also terrible quality and not fresh at all. They at least took it off the bill. We ran out of water and our waitress barely ever came over to check on us. She was kind at least but the service was not great. Maybe they were understaffed??? Our food took forever to come out and my salad was very boring and average and again had bad quality produce. Some of my lettuce was limp and soggy and the cucumbers again were not fresh. Nothing special at all.

We are from out of town, looked at a couple of nice places for my 21st birthday celebration, and chose view 202. Server was wonderful, he was great with recommendations and getting us our food + drinks. only issue we had was the steak in the picture. it was undercooked and it came out all cold. they were kind and understanding with refunding and offering a free dessert. Just was expecting a nicer meal with the price of the food.

We had a great dinner. The food was good but Peter made our experience a 10/10. We got a tequila flight and he helped us choose as we didn’t know which ones to get. The food was great & we had a yummy brownie dessert.
