Flat Rock Wood Room is an eclectic smokehouse located in Flat Rock, North Carolina. It offers a casual setting and serves a variety of dishes including wood-fired pizzas, pit-cooked BBQ, panini, and burgers. The restaurant has garnered positive reviews for its diverse menu and relaxed atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy a continental breakfast at the nearby Mountain Inn & Suites Flat Rock before heading out to explore the area.
Yum! I'm in Flat Rock for the state beekeepers conference. We decided to give this place a try. Man what a good choice! I had the BBQ pizza and it was awesome. Melissa was our waitress and she was excellent and very patient. 😎 We will be back. And if you're in town you should stop in. You won't be sorry.

Food was just ok. I got the pulled pork platter with sweet potato fries and Mac and cheese. I also got a rib for an appetizer to give it a try. I think it was the winner of the whole meal. The meat was so tender it fell right off the bone and the flavor was perfectly smoky. I had it with the spicy bbq sauce. The pulled pork was ok. I might not have enjoyed it as much as I would have if I were hungrier. This place was right next to the hotel I stayed at (walking distance) so it was convenient for a quick meal. The staff was super friendly.

I am going to leave as honest review as I can, and it's based on personal experience and preferences. The Brisket plate came with a small to medium size serving of brisket slices neatly arranged with two small bowls containing my sides and cornbread (cake). The Brisket was very tender, not very moist but you had a choice of 4 sauces, I found the Bold Sauce to be my favorite with just a hint of heat on the backside. Sides: The potato salad was fantastic! Absolutely loved this non mustard mix (and I do love mustard too). Mac & cheese was a flavorless soup, elbow noodles in a cream type sauce that had no discernable flavor (salt & pepper to the rescue). Cornbread (cake) is an absolutely non southern style and sweet as yellow cake. Good but should be offered as dessert. Service was good, very nice waitress and good relaxing atmosphere. Would I go back? Absolutely, want to get more of that potato salad!

My wife and I ate here today while returning home from a trip to Asheville. It looked really crowded when we arrived about 2:00. I had a difficult time finding a place to park. I checked with the hostess and was surprised she could seat us right then. Our waitress took our order right away we were eating within 10 minutes of arrival. I ordered the pull pork sandwich with sweet potatoe fries. They were pretty good, although no where near the best I've ever eaten. My wife ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs with potatoe salad and corn. I tasted the ribs and agreed with her they were ok, but certainly not the best we've ever had. Maybe just a little over cooked. There was only 1 rest room and both male and females were lined up to get in. We both passed on that! Overall the food was ok, although a little over priced. The service was very good and the atmosphere was ok.

My boyfriend and I stopped here after doing some fall activities with our two fur babies. We called ahead and made sure they had dog friendly patio. They did. When we got there we noticed it was a little crowded (great sign right!!!) so we asked if we could sit at this little table away from everyone. We know not everyone is dog people and we didn’t wanna bother anyone. They were so accommodating and let us sit there away from everyone. The server was absolutely amazing! She was soooooo sweeet! (Will update when I find the receipt with her name) but the fooooood was soooooo good. I got the pulled chicken plate with fries and Mac and cheese! Let me start off and say this was the BEST Mac and cheese I have EVER HAD! They also give you a piece of cornbread and well and that corn bread was sooooooo good! The entire meal and experience was hands down the best. It was the first time we have been there but IT WILL NOT BE THE LAST!! We live 2 hours away but every time we come up that way to do mountain activities we WILL stop there! If you’re in the area you must stop here!!! 10/10 recommend! 💙

Young lady behind the bar is an asset to the business. Friendly and excellent company. My apologies, I kept calling her Deborah, but if the business would, please provide this review with her name. She deserves to be recognized. Again, excellent atmosphere, food and service.

The food is always great here. Some items are overpriced in my opinion (8.99 for a side salad). They have outdoor seating and dogs are welcome. Our favorites are the bbq, cornbread and pizzas (wood fired). Its a great stop for when you aren't sure what you are in the mood for because they have a little of everything. They have a nice variety of salads as well.

We recently stayed in Flat Rock, NC, for a family reunion. Several family members selected Flat Rock Wood Room for lunch between activities on a Thursday afternoon. We chose to eat on their porch. Our server was the same person that seated us when we arrived. She did an excellent job during our entire dining experience. She was quick and accurate in both taking and delivering our food selections. My daughter is a vegetarian, and she ordered the Veggie Panino (Fior di latte mozzarella, roasted onion, roasted green pepper, roasted egg plant, Roma tomato, and arugula) with a side of chips. My wife ordered the Fork and Knife Sandwich (Pulled smoked pork piled on house made cornbread and topped with shredded cheddar cheese and competition BBQ glaze) with a side of baked beans. I ordered the Brisket French Dip Sandwich (Horsey sauce and provolone cheese) with a side of Collard Greens. Many of us added barbecue sauces to our food from the many selections available on the table. Everyone in the group was happy with the flavors of choices we made. If our Saturday evening dinner was not also barbecue, we would have returned again on Saturday to have lunch at Flat Rock Wood Room.

Flat Rock Playhouse, located in the beautiful Western Carolina region, is the official State Theatre of North Carolina. It originated from a group of struggling actors known as Vagabond Players and has since grown into a prominent playhouse staging revivals, original productions, concerts, popular musicals, comedies, and dramas. The playhouse offers a nine-month season of plays and provides a stringent attendance policy to ensure the safety of its visitors.
Beautiful little theater in the middle of nowhere! The play was funny and the actors did a great job! Seating was comfortable. Staff were kind to the group I was traveling with! A very unique place! I hope to get to come back here again someday. Well worth traveling to this little theater in Flat Rock NC.

Our first visit to Flatrock playhouse. We are seniors & disabled. The traffic was very heavy so we ran late. We were greeted by an usher that barked 2 min. to curtain. The auditorium was black as the play began with a dark film. Rather than wait she walked us to our row, but we could not see the seats. Fortunately near the isle. Others entered late as well - but after there was lights to see. Honestly, the rude welcome eft me quite upset. The play is outstanding - actors & set. All that to say, we all have unavoidable delays. We live 2 hr away. Will the management please instruct ushers to be sensitive to special needs. Such a fine job by all others. We were never given a play bill. The woman seating us needs to avoid working with the public. ... shameful. We'd been told by friends to come - but I doubt we can recommend this theater. Sad.
Joleen C — Google review
In all my visits to the Flat Rock Playhouse, I never knew there was a garden. I had seen the flowers around the house before, but if you keep going, there is a large area to walk around to get away from it all. There are some sculptures among the plants and flowers. I liked the goats. Make sure to check it out before a show. I am more amazed each time I come how well thought out the Flat Rock Playhouse is to getting everyone situated with parking, to making sure everyone gets to the correct seat. There isn't much space for parking, so they pack the cars in tight. This is a problem if you need or want to leave early, as you are stuck. But they make do with the space they have. The quality of the shows is outstanding as they get fantastic actors and have great costumes, sets, and music. This year I saw the Michael Jackson show, Beautiful, and Murder on the Orient Express. I'd have season tickets if I lived closer. I am wondering what shows will be playing for the next season.

I recently took my daughter to see The Play That Goes Wrong at Flat Rock Playhouse, and we were absolutely blown away! It was her very first live theater experience, and I couldn’t have chosen a better venue to introduce her to the magic of the stage. As someone who’s seen many Broadway productions, I was genuinely impressed by the caliber of talent on display. The cast was hilarious, the comedic timing impeccable, and the energy in the room was contagious. The set design and production quality were professional, detailed and incredibly well-executed. The venue itself is cozy and charming, which makes the experience feel all the more intimate and special. There’s not a bad seat in the house, and you can tell the staff and performers truly care about delivering a memorable experience. Flat Rock Playhouse is a true gem in the North Carolina theater scene. We’ll absolutely be back for future shows. Highly recommend to both seasoned theatergoers and first-timers alike!

Wonderful production of The Orient Express! A little delightful humor added to the script that kept the audience engaged. The Playhouse was very nice, quaint. And the staff was excellent. The visit was a great experience. We'll definitely return.
Kathy L — Google review
We’ve been going to The Playhouse ever since we moved to Flat Rock (actually slightly before!). It’s been very, very good. The quality is amazing! The musicals are our favorite. We saw Gypsy, A Chorus Line, South Pacific, Mama Mia (both productions), Beautiful, and Jersey Boys! All were thoroughly great! We saw three plays: Dixie Swim Club, The Play that goes Wrong, and Clue. Dixie was super funny. The play that goes wrong was silly but fun. Clue was the only thing we saw that was not to our liking. The experience is really nice. They handle parking well and it’s only about a mile from our community so it’s convenient! The Playhouse is such a huge asset to our community!
Jay S — Google review
We saw Murder on the Orient Express. The show was amazing. The actors were fantastic. Everyone was SO friendly. The parking could have been a nightmare, but was organized surprisingly well. Why 3 stars? The setup of the theater is not good for shorter people. I couldn't see a thing without doing a constant strain and bobble head dance. Heads were blocking the stage as far as four rows in front of me. I'd either need to sit in the very front row, or the very back row with cushions so I didn't block someone behind me.

One of the best times we have had! Our whole family loved it! Great venue. Ushers are super nice. Have concessions was a great perk. Will definitely go back.

Historical place
The Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site is a preserved goat farm and farmhouse where the renowned poet lived until his passing. The site offers a glimpse into history with well-preserved artifacts and an uphill walk to the home and farm, providing a shady and enjoyable experience. Visitors can explore the upper level of the home, but it requires climbing stairs. The tour is described as delightful, offering warmth and positivity from personnel including shuttle bus drivers and tour guides.
While we didn't take a tour of the inside of the house, we did get to pet some baby goats, which our girls couldn't stop talking about. The babies were so cute, and I was impressed with the number of staff and volunteers on hand to take care of the place. Although they've had a fair amount of damage from Helene, this site is bouncing back. Check it out!
Jonah B — Google review
I stopped by the house on July 3rd as part of my quest to visit all 100 counties. I was not expecting it to be quite so busy so early! I arrived even before the visitor's center was open. I had researched before and knew there would be detours and limited sites at the actual house, but I wasn't expecting the hiker's lot to be full. That meant parking in the main lot which involves a steeper hike. The hike, however, was still moderate, even in warm weather and once you are up the hill there are several other trails, outbuildings, the house itself (gift shop and exterior), a junior ranger stop where a short film plays, and the goats of course. You can actually pet the goats but I recommend bringing your own biodegradable wipes and/or water for drinking and cleaning as those amenities are still limited. I did see the shuttles around, but I didn't try to use them. I enjoyed my visit but should have climbed with my hiking pack and water.

Call Sandburg is an important historical figure. The 4 huge volumes he wrote on President Lincoln alone qualify, add books of the common man's poetry. Then the goat barn, there are plenty, with new babies born each spring. Lovely trails of all abilities on 245 acres in the Blue Ridge mountain range. The home is a National Historic site and is a wonderful stop on your travels. Free tours of the house are on the top of the hour and probably last 20 minutes.
Dot M — Google review
I enjoy visiting the goats that were raised by Carl Sandburg's wife and daughter. You can hike the trails, pet the goats, and brush them, making it a great experience for both children and adults. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash, but they are not allowed in the barnyard with the goats. The only admission fee applies to the house, so be sure to check the times, days, and cost for the guided tour of the home.
Carol M — Google review
All the things you didn't know that you didn't know about Carl Sandberg. Our guide for the tour of the house, Diane, was so informative, and made the presentation fun and interesting. We learned so much and really enjoyed ourselves. Just a precaution: the park still has damage from Hurricane Helene, so you can't get through some parts of the trails. Don't let that stop you from going. The house and grounds are all ready for visitors.
Rosemary S — Google review
Was in the area and looking for something to do happened upon Carl sandburg's home figured I'd see what it was about you've got two options to get to the house either take the shuttle or walk we chose to walk and it was very pleasant the unfortunate thing is it's a little longer walk because the bridge is out but they have a detour walking route we got a tour of the house from a wonderful tour guide she was very informative and insightful definitely learned a lot of things about Carl Sandburg that we did not know about the house tour takes about 30 minutes afterwards you can go to the goat Barn area and pet some goats it was a wonderful day trip activity
Lewis K — Google review
Interesting place but the main walking trail to the house from the parking area has been washed out. Alternate trail is longer, uphill and rough. Save the walk and wait for a shuttle van.

Jackson Park, situated near the southeast city limits of Hendersonville, North Carolina, offers a wide range of facilities and activities suitable for all age groups. The park hosts various events throughout the year including the Cross Country Jamboree, Farm City Day, Movies in the Park, and an annual Easter Egg Hunt.
Last week 12/16/24 FYI disc golf is not open due to damages. I stopped to take a walk before it was dark. It’s been so hard here with all the hurricane devastation. Shown are some of the pics I have taken. Amazing tennis courts & even some with the back walls too! Beautiful biking or a nice long walk. They had to buy all new equipment because of Helene, which was not cheap and if you look at the pics you can see how much wear they have already on them. These machines range from 85k to 165k. I believe a homeless person was in the wooded area, however not sure if they were gonna come back. Been here a bunch of times. Greenway back and forth is about 6 miles.

Great local park for kids of all ages. Lots of climbing obstacles, slides and swings and the rubber padding has extra cushion! Only downfall was the traffic that speeds in the parking lot. Speed bumps would be a great addition.

I love it here... especially for the walking trails that are dog-friendly. It's a huge park, lots of shade... and great tennis courts, too!

My go-to Park for dog walking. I love this family-friendly Park that is large enough to usually find an out-of-the-way spot from others to spend outdoor time with my dog. I appreciate relaxing, looking at nature and also the flowers at the Cooperative Extension.

Our favorite for sliding and climbing. Well kept as far as cleanliness. Could use a few benches strategically placed so parents can have a better sight line to kiddos. Other than that.. Perfect

Bakery
McFarlan Bake Shop, established in 1930, is a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike. The historic bakery offers an array of freshly baked pastries, danishes, and doughnuts made from scratch. Its vintage decor and old-fashioned staff exude a charming history-meets-nostalgia vibe. Visitors rave about the amazing baked goods, including decorated cookies that have been a highlight for many since childhood.
If you love bakeries, this one should be at the top of your list! McFarlan had the BEST cinnamon rolls ever, and I've tried quite a few. The fact the shop is still open 94 years after its opening states everything you need to know. I'll pay a few pictures of their decorated cookies and cakes, along with my purchase. You can't go wrong with this place!

We have now gotten two custom cakes from this bakery for each of my daughter’s birthdays. One Frozen themed party and one outer space (“two the moon”) themed party. Both times they absolutely nailed the looks we were going for. We keep coming back because the cakes are also DELICIOUS. 10/10, no question we will be back for our next event!
Meghan S — Google review
I really liked the chocolate chewy cookie, but the rest was just okay. The price was ok on most items compared to other bakeries so that was good. A couple staff were friendly but the one taking my order seemed like she really didn't want to get my order. Overall it wasn't a bad experience but I won't make the long drive to go back.

We asked this bakery to make a gender reveal cake for us and they exceed our expectations! Not only was the cake beautiful and exactly what we asked for, but it was honestly one of the most delicious cakes I’ve eaten! They also worked with us on our tight deadline and got it to us within a week. We received so many compliments on the cake as well and many people asking where it was from. Would highly recommend McFarlan Bake Shop, thanks for helping make our gender reveal so special! 💗

It is rare to find a ‘real’ bakery these days. You know, the kind where their products are made from scratch and are so delicious. Well, this is one of those places. What a great surprise to discover this spot while visiting Hendersonville, NC. The cinnamon rolls are the best I’ve ever tasted. Their cookies are fresh, tasty, and addictive. Don’t miss this place when you visit the area.

Just amazing! We found McFarlan on a trip to the Asheville area and instantly knew we needed to have their donuts at our wedding. Some of the best apple fritters, cinnamon rolls, and traditional donuts we’ve ever had. The cake they made for our wedding was literally the best cake we’ve ever had! We were blown away. Their team was always friendly, professional, and so easy to work with. We will be back!

I have grown up on Mcfarlans and always loved them. You can’t go wrong with anything there! I wanted to comment on the decorators they have there now. I didn’t give them a lot of direction other than please include a “train,” but they created the sweetest cake for my son! It is SO cute and delicious! HenDough Chicken & Donuts is a cozy, casual spot that specializes in beloved comfort foods like fried chicken and donuts. The restaurant has become a local favorite and is highly recommended for visitors. Situated in a restored home, HenDough offers a tempting menu featuring an array of options such as egg in a basket, Nashville Hot Chicken Biscuit, cinnamon sugar twists, pimento cheese biscuit, donut breakfast sandwich, and donut bread pudding.
Excellent crispy breading on the chicken and the biscuit had a nice shell but soft inside. Only negative is that with the egg on the sandwich it's impossible to eat as a sandwich(obviously not a real complaint but don't plan to eat this one handed). Quality food at a reasonable price. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area

Wow — what an amazing breakfast! The apple butter chicken biscuit was INSANELY good — such a creative, cozy autumn twist on a classic breakfast favorite. The hashbrowns were perfectly crispy, the ranch was on point, and those Nashville hot chicken pickles? Absolute perfection. We couldn’t resist grabbing a dozen donuts to go — the apple one was especially delicious (though honestly, they’re all amazing!). A special shoutout to the guy at the register — friendly, funny, and full of that wicked sense of humor that instantly made us feel right at home. We’ll definitely be back — this spot is a total gem!

We stopped by for an early lunch. We had the Nashville Hot chicken biscuit sandwich (which was spicy) and the Apple Cheddar chicken biscuit sandwich). Along with a turtle cheesecake donut (very rich) and a blueberry lemon donut. Fast service, outdoor seating (so dog friendly) and reasonable prices. I try to support local businesses as often as possible on vacation

Oh my goodness I fell in love with this place instantly. Donuts are HEAVENLY, specialty lattes are FIRE (I got Caramel Apple Butter latte and wow), and the fried chicken is so flavorful. I wish I lived closer so I could come back regularly.

I got a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit and a Boston crème. The biscuit was soft with a garlic buttery taste, cooked to perfection! The donut was rather dense, however the crème in the middle was delicious, and very soft pillowy breading. I wanted more, but could only eat 1! Highly recommend!!
Brittany F — Google review
Absolutely phenomenal breakfast! We got the chicken biscuit and egg and cheese biscuit along with a chocolate frosted donut and a caramel espresso donut. This place makes me sad I don’t live here!

I very rarely leave reviews because I think a person's experience with a restaurant or business, ect. is subjective. What I may love, you may not so I just keep my opinions to myself. But HenDough....wow!! I LOVE this restaurant!! I got the Nashville Hot Chicken biscuit (with no pickles because I hate pickles 🤮) with a side of smoked gouda macaroni and cheese. It was unbelievable!! The chicken was perfect but that macaroni was out of this world!! I haven't stopped thinking about HenDough since that day. I wish there was one in Boiling Springs SC so I could eat there everyday! The owner was absolutely awesome and seemed like such a good guy. We did get some doughnuts too and they were phenomenal!! Its my new favorite restaurant ❤️

This place is amazing! You order at the counter and can take it to go or seat yourself. There's seating upstairs, too. They give you a buzzer to grab your food when it's ready. They have coffee and a coke fountain machine. The donuts are amazing and fresh. We took a few with us when we were done. The biscuits with sausage gravy was like mom makes! We also enjoyed a delicious chicken biscuit. Service was courteous and fast. Next time we’re here for vacation we will definitely coming back.

The Beatles theme is cute and unique. Our server was friendly and our good got there quickly. There were not many vegetarian or vegan options. You had to go up a set of stairs to get into the building, so it is not friendly for people with mobility issues. I personally would not return just due to lack of options for myself, but my friend enjoys it.

Rare hidden gem. A place full of Beatles memorabilia and good food too. We ate crab omelets with a potato casserole unlike any I've eaten before. Fresh from scratch biscuits and Chai tea. All was wonderful. Service was great. It was a fun place to dine.

Arrived on a Sunday around 10am. I ordered the waffle of the day (pecan) and my friend the biscuits and gravy. My waffle tasted like it was cooked a day ago and even had a refrigerated flavor. The pecans were just spread on top and weren't baked into it. The bacon was awesome though. They also had a sign up that they were closing at 1 (hours on door say 2) which I have seen other reviewers mention so it must happen fairly often. I'll try other places around HVille rather than return here next time I'm visiting.

This is the best place for breakfast and lunch. These folks really care about the quality of their food. Service is exceptional and the price is right. Geez I wish I could have posted a picture of my delicious Sunday brunch but I ate it all up. Super huge bonus......Perfect 5 star sweet tea! Great coffee too. Purposeful and strong.

Just left and we really enjoyed coming to Mean Mr. Mustard. I created my own omelette and it was delicious. Two drawbacks, hot Chai Tea wasn't hot (mildly warm) and the portion of a side of the cheesy potatoes was really tiny. Pros: cheesey potatoes, omelette, pancake, atmosphere Cons: portion sizes were a bit small on the add ons and tea was warm.
Jessie W — Google review
This burger cost me $9. I also ordered it medium, not extra well done. They also do not have French fries. The "loaded potato salad" was decent, as well as the blueberry pancakes. We had three burgers and two blueberry pancakes, and it came out to about $50. There was no Beatles music playing or anything, just a few pictures on the wall.

This is the coolest place!!! “Beatle” based with a fun atmosphere! The food has been awesome every visit!! Great coffee/expresso!! Cool owner that will occasionally surface from the kitchen and visit the tables!! Best breakfast/brunch food in town!! Omelets are off the chart!!

Hannah Flanagan's Pub & Eatery is a charming Irish-inspired establishment located in downtown Hendersonville. The pub offers a relaxed, old-world setting with an extensive and ever-changing beer list. Visitors can enjoy a variety of Irish-influenced pub grub, including creative sliders with unique flavor combinations and a one-of-a-kind take on the classic Shepherd's Pie in the form of an egg roll.
The atmosphere is great in here and great service. Got the shepherds pie and it is downright perfect. Prices are great, perfect lunch spot for an afternoon of apple picking

Last time I visited the pub was about 3 years ago. The food back then was amazing! So I came back hoping to have a similar experience. I didn’t. I got the fish and chips, same as before, but they were nothing special. Certainly nothing to be “famous” for. The cole slaw was decent, and the chips, the best part. The mashed potatoes had an enormous amount of garlic, way too much to be enjoyable. Good selection of beer. Service was friendly and attentive, and the food came out in a timely manner. Unfortunately, I’d probably seek out somewhere different to eat, the next time I’m in the area.

I really hate leaving less than 4 star reviews and had high hopes for this establishment. I love Irish Pubs & Restaurants, but a friend and I stopped in here during the weekend of the Apple Festival around 8:30pm to grab dinner and we stood at the hostess stand waiting (only ones in line) for about 8 minutes before anyone acknowledged us and sat us. It took just as long to get drink orders and another 10 minutes before drinks arrived. A simple water and bottled beer. We had picked out what to order ahead of time from their menu online since we had come from out of time and we were starving, but neither were made available during that time due to a very limited 1 page printed menu, in which the food took extremely long to come out and we ended up taking it to go. They were NOT slammed at this point in the night. The man who served us was not very friendly either. I understand working under high stress. Ive done it. Ive worked Irish Pub st patty day... I get it.

We stopped here after spending the day around town and it was worth the trip and the money. Portion sizes are appropriate for the prices and the quality of food is great. I got the lamb gyros( yes I know not Irish food in an Irish pub) and they were delicious. I do plan on coming back to try other dishes in the near future.

This was mine and my partners first visit. The staff was friendly and the food was very good, with very nice portions. I had the half portion of Cornbeef and Cabbage, but it felt like it was a full-size portion, and I couldn't get over it. We were very pleased.

I eat here once or twice a year. I always enjoy it. They have some great dishes on the menu. There's only been one visit where I wasn't happy with my food. Most of the time it's been excellent.

Ok seriously this place is 6 stars!!! The fried pickles were some of the best I have had. They it says spicy because apparently they normally include some jalapenos, but my wife and kids were afraid it would be too spicy. Our waitress had them do pickles only which was perfect for the family. The house made Ranch dressing was so good you could dip anything in it and make it better. But the pickles has a great batter, I was good either way. I wish I had gotten some of the Jalapenos too, I but they are amazing too. The Quality and Quantity at this place were both great. My wife and I split the Reuben and Irish Dip. Reuben was knock your socks off good. One of the best I have ever had. The Irish dip was also very good. I got the Crispy Onions as a side which were good plain and dipped in that amazing ranch. My wife got the O'Briens potatoes. Those were pretty amazing as well. Look at those chicken tenders. Huge, meaty, and cooked to perfection. My daughter got the burger also good. Seriously nothing we ate here was below excellent. I can't say enough about this place. Our Waitress was amazing!!! The food was amazing. I live in a different state, and we will probably make it back there some how just to get that Reuben and Fried Pickles again.

Middle Eastern restaurant
If you're on the hunt for a unique breakfast experience, don't miss out on Pita Express! This charming little eatery in Hendersonville offers an array of delightful morning options that are anything but ordinary. From their Greek bagel featuring grilled lamb and tzatziki to a flavorful Turkish omelet packed with seasoned chicken and grilled peppers, breakfast here is sure to awaken your taste buds.
Fabulous gyros good iced tea, nice Greek salad. The owner was very accommodating for the children. Simple low key, reasonably priced great food. Highly recommended if you want to stop for a bite to eat.
Robert H — Google review
Food was great! I can tell the salad was fresh and not over seasoned. The gyro had a good amount of lamb. Good portion of food for lunch! The lady at the front was kind, the place is small but it's clean and organized.
Nataly S — Google review
Authentic locally-owned Middle Eastern diner, entirely staffed by an older couple from the Levant. Unfortunately, that's the end of the good news. The food is just okay --- the Greek salad is built on a bed of cheap iceberg lettuce --- although the pita bread is top notch. The portions are modest and the meals overpriced, served on styrofoam plates with plastic utensils. They hand you a styrofoam to+go cup and you go fill your drink. At least it's consistent. You place your order at a makeshift little window that makes you feel like you're still in the middle of the pandemic, They do bring your food to the table. Everything else --- including bussing --- is strictly self-serve. You know, it wouldn't be so bad if the meals were, say, $6 to $12. But at $10 to $15 a plate, I just expect a better dining experience.

Full of character and charm, Pita Express won my heart the minute I walked in the door. It's a small restaurant with a fantastic vibe and absolutely delicious food. The falafel sandwich 🥙 was one of the best I've had. A generous serving with all the right ingredients. I ordered a side Greek salad which was equally as good and has just the right amount of dressing and goat cheese - yum 😋! And the owner who serves you with a big smile is also a belly dancer teacher! Trying to talk my wife into some lessons...trust me you would not want to see me belly dancing. The food I consume these reviews tends to land directly there, it would not be very pretty I have to say, this is the first restaurant I've been to that offers actual lessons. Been to a few Morocon restaurants that had belly dancers, but let's not digress. Pita Express, a great place for lunch, and they serve what looks like a fantastic breakfast. I saw a lamb omelette on the menu, so I will have to come back for a visit!

Gyro sandwich & a fountain drink was about $13. Not bad. Gyro was good, service was fairly quick. No complaints. Cash only though!! They have an ATM there if you need. I'll be back again to try more menu items.

Owners are very accommodating to dietary restrictions. Tonight we had vegan moussaka, filled with eggplant and cauliflower. The flavor was incredibly intense and the texture was super creamy. If you live in the area be sure to get on the email list so you always know what the Friday night special is and order early in the week.
Rhodeena G — Google review
A small slice of Mediterranean food heaven! From the outside it doesn't look like much but the service is warm and friendly and the food fresh, authentic and delicious. The Turkish coffee is the best I've ever had.
Billy P — Google review
I wish we could allot half stars. So I really enjoyed the food it was really good though a little light on meat. But the salad was fresh and a good size, the sauce was on POINT!! The downside is that you're going to wait. Even during the week you'll wait, so this isn't what I'd say is "fast food". It is also a kind of snooty area so the other clientele isn't friendly. Now the woman working the cashier was very VERY friendly. But no one else was. It's a rather cozy dining area too so you do sit a bit shoulder to shoulder making it a bit awkward if you have anyone with special needs. Dirty looks from other customers because you have a child who is developmentally delayed makes for a rather tense lunch. At least the woman at the cash registered was kind even if no one else was.

New American restaurant
Season's At Highland Lake is an on-site restaurant at the Highland Lake Inn that offers American fine dining with picturesque garden views. The restaurant, inspired by the four distinct seasons, showcases Executive Chef Nate Sargent's farm-to-table approach and commitment to sustainable practices. Many of the fresh, seasonal ingredients used in the dishes come from the inn's own organic garden.
We were in town to enjoy the season change and celebrate my husband’s birthday. While deciding where to have dinner we fell on Season’s at Highland Lake and have no regrets. Dinner was impeccable and memorable!! We are going to make Seasons a staple when visiting the area and consider staying on the property next visit.

Brunch with a View, But Light on Flavor We made the Sunday drive from Greenville with high hopes and brunch sized appetites, pulling into Seasons at Highland Lake about an hour or two before the buffet closed. The setting was serene, and it was odd that we were the only people there, but staff mentioned we’d just missed the rush and that this was their slow season. Atmosphere wise, it’s a winner. Nestled in a secluded hotel lodge like setting, it feels like part of a mountain retreat. A live guitarist played soft tunes and took requests, adding to the relaxed, upscale vibe. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to unplug and stay for the weekend. Unfortunately, the food didn’t match the mood, or the name. Everything looked beautifully presented and artfully arranged, but almost all of it fell flat in flavor. It’s like they used all the seasoning on naming the restaurant. There’s no shortage of options on the buffet, and you might find a few things you like, but don’t expect anything memorable. None of the dishes are worth mentioning though, please explore yourself. A lovely setting for a quiet morning, but not a destination brunch spot when it comes to the food. Let’s hope the next season brings a bit more spice. I hope to be back and give it another try.

Season’s at Highland Lake is an absolute delight! Our server was outstanding — attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. The food was fantastic, full of fresh flavors and perfectly prepared. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal. And the Sunday brunch all-you-can-eat? Simply incredible! If you leave here hungry, it’s entirely your fault — there’s something delicious for everyone. This place is a must-visit!

Crab cake, prime rib, and the trout were phenomenal. We had creme Brule for dessert, and it was delicious as well. Can't believe it has taken us this long to finally have dinner here. We will be back again soon!

On a recent visit to Hendersonville, we had dinner at Season’s at Highland Lake and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The food and service were top-notch. I ordered the halibut, which was cooked to perfection, and my two guests enjoyed the steak, both of which they said were amazing. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making for a fun and memorable night out. I’ll definitely return the next time I’m in the area and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious meal in Hendersonville.

This was our first visit to this restaurant. It is less than 5 minutes from the Flat Rock Playhouse making it a convenient location for dinner and a show afterwards. The atmosphere was quiet although they had a guitar player singing light jazzy, old standards, which we really enjoyed. Service was extremely attentive, and just the right pace. The food was excellent. My wife requires gluten free prep and they brought her a separate menu which was nicely varied. We shared an heirloom tomato and burrata caprese salad that they split onto separate plates. My wife had a seared salmon dish with risotto and I had a tomahawk pork chop with linguini. Both entrees were plated beautifully and were delicious.

This is an awesome restaurant! It is very charming but not stuffy or old fashioned. It's a great destination restaurant. They do except reservation which makes planning a night out on the weekend easier. The food is fresh and tasty with modern twists. The cook is phenomenal! Service is fast and friendly without being overbearing. They offer a nice selection of wines and a full bar. We had the trout and the steak. Both were excellent. We had creme brulee and a key lime tart for dessert - again both excellent. We will definitely be back to this wonderful restaurant.
