Sam's Chowder House is a classic seafood restaurant that offers a modern twist on New England dining. It has gained popularity for its clam chowder, lobster rolls, and the picturesque patio overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The restaurant has won awards for its seafood and is known for serving fresh catches daily. With an extensive menu featuring traditional New England dishes with a gourmet touch, visitors can enjoy fresh poke and oysters at the raw bar or savor real-deal lobster rolls in the bright dining room.
A beautiful restaurant right on the water! We got the oysters rockerfeller & shared a naked crab sandwich. The lump crab dipped in butter atop the crunchy but soft thick garlic loaf was perfect! Both were very delicious & left you wanting a little more. So we finished with the key lime pie & omg was that to die for! There’s a path to the left of the patio that lets you down to a nice seating area & walkway closer to the water. Perfect for a little after meal stroll. Don’t skip out on this California gem!

We went on a Friday morning, 15min before they open there was already a long queue. We got seated very quickly after they opened. We ordered lobster rolls, grilled oysters, fried calamari and seafood pasta. The lobster roll was the best I’ve ever had, the meat was overflowing! Everything else was very decent too! The view from the restaurant was definitely a plus. Will 100% back again.

We sat outside and it was the perfect sunny day out with the amazing view of the bay. The service and staff were friendly and helpful. Food: The clam chowder is what they’re known for and my husband enjoyed the seasonal pumpkin bisque. The scallops were well cooked and the garnish underneath helps add a kick of flavor. The fried seafood combo was really good and even though the seafood was fried, the meat inside was still juicy. The only letdown of the meal was the lobster roll. At first glance we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of lobster meat, but the meat was chewy and dry. Also, the roll was dry and hard to chew through as well. It seemed like an off day, so it may be better for other people on another day.

Place has a great location and SOME menu highlights, but overall it’s due for an update. The decor feels outdated, and if you choose to sit outside, make sure it’s not windy - it can literally blow your appetite away. The ladies’ restroom line was endless, which definitely took away from the experience. Most of the menu leans on deep-fried items that come out oily, and the fish was soaked in grease. The fries was way overdried and felt like spice lid broke loose over it. On the positive side, the New England clam chowder stood out!, large portion easily feeds two and had solid, rich flavor. Beverage selection was decent with a fair range of draft beers. Overall, the place still has potential, but it’s calling for a refresh in both design and dish selection to match its view and reputation.

10.25.25 Super busy and full of customers, even at 4pm. Wait time was 20 min. Our meals of Cioppino, Swordfish & Dressed Lobster Roll were excellent. And not overly salty, you can add salt & pepper to adjust to your taste. New England Clam Chowder was good also. Everything was fresh and cooked just right. Bread, while fresh, was cold due to them not heating it prior to serving as they "don't have oven capacity to accomodate for bread" we were told very apologetically. Our server Jesus A., was great, he made us feel very welcome, our first time dining here. Thank you to him!

Always a great experience at Sam's Chowder House! Shared a few plates, the clam chowder was the right consistency, not too thick. Fish and chips with coleslaw were perfect with the, crab louie and bay shrimp salad both had generous portion of seafood. Octopus appetizer was delicious! Sorry for shadow on photos we were enjoying the outside.

We visited Sam’s Chowder House with a group of colleagues and had an absolutely great time. The atmosphere is lively and relaxed, with that perfect coastal vibe that makes the whole experience feel authentic and fun. The seafood boil was outstanding - fresh lobster, mussels, clams, sausage, corn, potatoes, and plenty of melted butter. Everything tasted wonderful, perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The portions were generous, and the presentation made it even more enjoyable to share as a group. We also really enjoyed the energy of the place. It’s the kind of restaurant where you can laugh, talk, and enjoy great food without feeling rushed. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. A fantastic spot for seafood lovers, team outings, or anyone wanting a memorable meal by the coast. Highly recommended - we’ll definitely be back.

Sam’s Chowder House lobster rolls was the best I have ever had. There was a lot of lobster and it was slightly seasoned. We ordered the Naked Lobster Roll which means it is a little warm. I have only had cold lobster rolls so I really enjoyed the warm lobster roll. The bread was SO GOOD. It looks like a pretzel roll but it is not. It was a buttery toasted soft bread. I enjoyed the bread just as much as the lobster. Their clam chowder was so-so😑. It tastes more like celery soup than clam chowder. There is inside and outside seating. We enjoyed the outside seating overlooking the harbor. We dined at night and the temperature was chilly but the heating lamps made the area nice and warm.

Pillar Point Harbor is a bustling refuge for commercial fishing, sport fishing, and leisure boating. The harbor offers a picturesque setting to witness stunning sunrises over the Pacific Ocean and provides opportunities for outdoor activities such as kayaking, fishing, and whale-watching tours. Visitors can also enjoy purchasing fresh seafood directly from the fishermen. Additionally, the area is popular for surfing at Surfers Beach and Mavericks Beach.
A small but bustling harbor with public walkways and benches with plenty of high end shops and restaurants nearby. I’m a sucker for wildlife so the abundance of pelicans, harbor seals and seal lions was a delight

At the pier, you can find a variety of fresh seafood. In the past, the prices were much cheaper compared to inland markets, but now they’re no longer affordable. Previously, you could negotiate prices, and each boat offered slightly different rates. Now, all the prices are the same and more expensive. As long as the crabs are alive, there’s not much difference in taste or quantity whether you buy them from the market or the boats. With such high prices, I don’t see a reason to come all the way here to buy them. Rock crabs are said to be affordable, but I wouldn’t recommend coming here for Dungeness crabs.

Nice facility. They were working on the ramp area but we're very accommodating. The fish cleaning station was fair and the restrooms were clean. Parking is a bit of a way from launch area but was very well maintained, secure and clean. No complaints and the fishing was excellent 🐟🎣🐟🎣

We bought several types of fresh seafood, including rockfish, as well as crab and uni from the fishing boats here. The prices are cheap, the products are fresh, and the vendors are very friendly. Shopping for seafood here has become a fun family activity.

The pier was named after the congressman who helped raise money for the harbor project. It is one of the most active commercial fisheries. Where customers are allowed to buy directly off the fishing boats. Arrive early, because many boats sell out by late morning. No fishing license is required to fish off the Johnson Pier. The designated area is at the rail nearest to the Harbor Patrol Office. This would be a great date spot. Spend the day fishing or crabbing, while enjoying the beautiful scenery. Don't forget snack food and drinks. IG: SACRAMENTOHONEY

Love this marina! You can stay as a transient vessel for a fair price. Lots of nice people live and work here. The harbor master Betty is very friendly and helpful and has gone out of her way to help us multiple times. The anchorage is beautiful and is protected by a sea wall, the price of anchoring is even better!

Great location next to the new Harbor Village RV. Many shops to choose from and excellent restaurants all around. Half Moon Bay Brewery has both great beer and food. Hop Dogma Brewery is here as well and has consistently has good beers on tap.

Seafood restaurant
Barbara's Fishtrap is a beloved cash-only fish shack in Princeton-by-the-Sea, offering traditional seafood favorites and stunning views of Half Moon Bay. Established in 1971, this family-owned restaurant provides a laid-back atmosphere with the option for beachfront takeout. The menu features award-winning clam chowder, seafood pastas, and daily catches, but their specialty lies in serving some of the best fish and chips in the area.
Such an adorable fish shack on the beach. Perfect location. Plenty of seating inside and out. They have patio seating up and down the street as well as a cozy inside seating space. I felt like the price was very affordable for how much you get. 5 decent sized pieces of fresh cod with some of the best steak fries I’ve ever had was only $21. It came out hot and fast. We just stood at a table bench near by and watched the waves and people drive by as we enjoyed our lunch. We also got a cup of clam chowder which was delicious. All in all a great stop in Half Moon Bay for some delicious traditional California Bay Area fare!

On a chilly Tuesday, I decided on a little trip over to half moon bay. After spending some time hiking and enjoying nature, we were hungry and chose Barbara’s Fishtrap. I had been scrolling through reviews and this seemed like a great place so I knew I had to try it out. All of the food was excellent, perhaps other than the oyster tempura sandwich. There were only 3 measly oysters which is terrible. However the large fish trap was fantastic. Everything on that plate was cooked well and tasted great. If I were to go back I definitely would skip the oyster sandwich because it does not feel worth the price at all for 3 fried oysters with relatively cheap items accompanying it. However, the saving grace of this meal was definitely the actual fish trap which is more of what they’re known for. In the future I would definitely just share the large fish trap among two people. Service was also nice but I could tell they were being rushed through everything.

We arrived within 10 min of the restaurant opening and took the last table. It's worth the wait if you have to. The staff is friendly and efficient. The clam chowder was very fresh and tasty. We tried most tempura items (fish, scallop, shrimp, zucchini, and more). Everything was flavorful but hands down the scallops were the best. I'd order a plateful with some cheese bread. The bread on my fried oyster sandwich was perfectly toasted. I added the coal slaw to give it freshness and crunch. The steak fries were hefty and filling. The zucchini was a perfect side. We walked away completely satisfied. The portions are shareable. We will be back for more.

The best items I tried here were the fried Ocean prawns tempura and the Key Lime Pie with the Kona Hawaiian beer. The key lime pie was yummy...not exactly the same as I had in Key West (because the type of lime used is different here). The fish and garlic butter prawns were ok. I loved the Ocean prawns and the Kona Big Wave beer was the smoothest lightest beer almost like a lager. Definitely goes super well with orange wedges squeezed in it!
Sagar — Google review
The restaurant closes to change frying oil between 3:00 to 3:45 but they start closing down earlier if needed. When we were there recently on a weekend, they stopped taking orders at the take out counter before 2:45 so just be aware and plan accordingly. It's an awesome fish shack. During peak lunch period, the wait time for a table in the restaurant can be an hr or more long. The line for the take out counter can also be long but it moves fairly quickly. There are several picnic style tables outside. Many people also take it to go on the beach. The fish and chips is what we get almost every time. The clam chowder is the best. They can broil the fish instead of frying it if you want. Just ask.

Parking is difficult. Long line to order. 25-30 minute wait to be seated. 10 minute wait for to go. Decent amount of seating for to go outside the restaurant. Fish and chips was very greasy, but tasty. Clam chowder- potato based, with good flavor and a decent amount of clans. Decent portion size. I wouldn't rush back- plenty of other restaurants to try nearby.
Jeff ( — Google review
Fresh seafood and amazing customer service. The scallops are incredible. As well as the Crab sandwich, Ceasar salad, clams, and tempura mushrooms. Their clam chowder is also a must. No cream added. They utilize the potato to get this incredible texture and thickness in the soup that's craveable. We live in SF but it's worth the 30 or ao minutes to get there. Dog friendly patio. Always a plus.
Korena C — Google review
I like Barbara’s Fish trap. The ceviche is the best. It had the right amount of onions and cilantro if you like onions and cilantro. It is served with a side of pita chips. The fish and chip were good as well. The fish tastes fresh. The atmosphere was unique. It is a spot on the side of the harbor. We enjoyed sitting at the picnic tables along the side of the restaurant. We will definitely return to try other dishes.

Half Moon Bay Brewing Company is a laid-back brewpub in California that offers delicious coastal pub fare and house beers. The brewery overlooks Pillar Point Harbor, providing a scenic backdrop for enjoying their continuously rotating selection of craft beers, including an IPA and fall harvest ale made with local pumpkins. Inside, you can savor Dungeness crab nachos and beer-battered fish & chips in cozy surroundings.
My coworkers and I came to this place after a hike and needed nourishment. The menu contained lots of options for everyone and the dishes looked delicious. We picked a few appetizers to share and all of them were tasty. If you enjoy pickles go for their fried pickles. It's nicely breaded and fried and it is just yummy! I went for the seared ahi tuna and it was tasty. A large portion of tuna that came with avocado, egg roll, and rice. If you're in the area you need to check this place out!

This is one of the few spots available in Half moon bay for decent drinks and food overlooking the ocean. Hence, went here. There was a wait time for about half hour on a Saturday afternoon. Mushroom soup was soup of the day. Truffle fries were good and mango cider was good too. Fish tacos were decent.
Apurva B — Google review
Now is the perfect time to visit, with pumpkins seasons and the weather being just right. There were a lot of people on the weekend, but the wait was only 10 minutes. Sitting at the outdoor tables, many people brought their dogs, and there were 11 ! I ordered claims chowder, prawn salad, fish taco, and fried calamari ( a little bit too dry ) Every dish was good. The service was very diligent and they refilled the drink all the time. Parking easy !

This place has absolutely DELICIOUS beer and super friendly service. Me and my husband love coming here when visiting Half Moon Bay. I wish that I could give them five stars. However, the last two times we have been there and I have gotten food poisoning. Yesterday after eating there I was the only one of our party of four that ordered fish and now I am having it come out of both ends. (Trying not to be graphic, but just being honest.) My husband who orders a burger every time we come has never gotten food poisoning. So, in summary, if visiting this place get ready for amazing beer and friendly service, but maybe stick with a burger and stay away from the fish.......

Pretty solid brewpub. I think the food is better than the beers. The quality and freshness of the seafood is there and I never had a bad dish. I think they make the best clam chowder in HMB. I get it every time I come here and I've tried all of the chowders in the area. The beers are decent at best, never had any standouts but all very drinkable. Service varies. Big restaurant with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It's a popular spot so you may have to wait during peak times. Parking is free and not too difficult in the large shared parking lot around the restaurant.

Mavericks Beach is a renowned spot for experienced big-wave surfers and hosts an exclusive competition. The beach is also dog-friendly and offers opportunities to explore underwater treasures during low tide. Families often visit on weekends with buckets to collect interesting finds, such as starfish and other wildlife. However, parking can be limited, and it's vital to park in legal spots to avoid fines.
This is such a fun, dog-friendly beach! When the tide is low, you can bring buckets and find cool things under water. You’ll probably have to do more research on what exactly people find, but there were dozens of families and people out on a Sunday afternoon with buckets full of things! Very cool! Also the starfish and other wildlife was so beautiful! Only con: very limited parking and be cognizant of parking in LEGAL spots. Cheers mate!!

This was my second visit and I was once again disappointed. The beach is dirty and there are hardly any waves. Nice walk to the beach, though.
Brigitte J — Google review
Very nice walk and tide pools. The dog police was not reinforced so the dogs were off leash. It had a bit of trash along the way to the tide pools.
Taynara M — Google review
Dog friendly beach with very interesting tide pool ecosystem to discover. On the weekend there are families with children playing with sand, people collecting clams. We used the chance of low tide and walked to the other side (Ross’ Cove). It was quite an exciting trip.
Chia-chen L — Google review
Beautiful beach to just sit and watch. Nice walk out to the base of the cliff. The sunken eye sore in the shallows that’s probably contaminating water and the trash we kept finding everywhere was a turn off. Pay lots of taxes for dirty state beaches.
Jon P — Google review
Beautiful beach, but watch out for broken mussel shells 🐚 and jelly fish 🐙 in the sand (both are EVERYWHERE). Practically NO ONE follows the leash law while walking the trail from Pillar Point, so anticipate lots of random dogs running up to you. 🐕🐾 Also, the parking lot to access the trail to the beach is nearly always packed full on the weekend when weather is nice. Road access beyond the entrance to the parking lot is restricted by the military base atop the hill, so if you get tired of waiting for a parking spot to open up, you'll have to make a U-turn on the road and find somewhere else to park. When we were waiting for a parking spot, a group of chatty dog-walkers were standing around gabbing with one another, blocking the entrance to the parking lot before finally pulling out, with seemingly no regard for the long line of cars waiting. 🙄😒 Other than that, the scenery is soothing. 🏖️🌅⛵ It's an enjoyable experience visiting a place with so much history. 🏄‍♀️🌊 You can hear the seals from Pillar Point Harbor barking as you walk along the trail. There are warnings posted about bacterial contamination of the stagnant water around Pillar Point (marsh) before you get out to the actual beach, so I'd be wary of playing in the water there. There are porta-potties at the entrance to the trail, but that's the only spot, so use the bathroom before you get out to the beach. Children and adults who enjoy collecting sea shells will be delighted to find mussel shells, colorful sea snail shells, sand dollars, and many others. 🦐🐚 We even found a tiny pearl! 📿 There is also a wealth of other flora and fauna to be explored in the tide pools, along the trail, and around the beach!
Heather B — Google review
Hands down one of the best places on the planet for big wave surfing...brought my family here to see this place for the awesomeness that it is and for myself to exercise some demons from my past. Have been scared to set foot on Mavericks for years as it almost killed me back in my early 20's. I remember the water being very cold and the water moving very fast. Seals and otters are everywhere along the water. Parking is scarce at best on a half decent day, so on a beautiful day be prepared to walk as there isn't any roadside parking due to the military base and the traffic in and out. The lot itself is very small and parking can get very tight. Half moon bay is a great place to walk around and just soak in the surroundings, mind you the crazy abundance of seaweed can get overwhelming for the nostrils. Cool ride pools make it extra enjoyable too. Beware of sneaker waves and keep your distance from the napping seals on the beach. Remember to thank Jeff Clark in your prayers for having the balls and the vision to even attempt riding Mavericks at all let alone all those years...alone. Hit up the surf shop and chill at the bar for some wobbly pops and chow. Ride on brothers and sisters and remember W.W.E.D. Peace.

Fantastic beach that has everything you could want. There is a section with seaweed, then a large section with nice sand and gentle waves thanks to the seawall. There is also boats and seals that are making their home on the dock. You will also find small tide pools where you can find sea creatures. There is a small parking area with Porta Potties, but if you can't find parking there is plenty of parking in the hippy town that is within half mile of the beech. Also, look out for the large waves on the other side of the seawall....it is Mavericks after all.

Nothing to see here move along.. The line was long and it was disappointing at the end. First of all they asked me if I wanted fries on the side with my meal but they didn't make it clear that it was an extra $4-7 charge and I felt misled. The price is really expensive for the quality you get but I also understand that they may charge these prices because of the location. I got the house salad and added chicken for more than half the cost of the salad. But the chicken was so dry it was like jerky. The Shrimp Bo Boy sandwich didn't have enough sauce and the shrimp was cold. The chowder bowl was $10 and it was the size of my palm. It was good though. I just hope they make it themselves and didn't heat it up from a can. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and maybe I was just unlucky. But it was bad enough to make me never come here again.

The seafood is good, we stood in line for about 45 minutes while locals skipped the line and ordered inside. The seafood is worth the price, but everything else is overpriced to prevent spouses and friends from just ordering a burger and backing up the kitchen. Just get some fish with a soda and maybe some sweet potato fries ($4) and you'll be a happy camper. Any questions about the food during ordering seemed to be met with agitation and frustration, but the service was happy and helpful. "Shuddup and order Seafood.". Also, the fish market in the back was nice and seemed like good food. My wife thought the Clam Chowder was very good as well...

Clam-chowder was spectacular! I know certain people can be picky about the texture of chowder, so just know this one is more on the thick side. I went for dinner on a Saturday night and they close at 8, but because it was a slower day they closed early. I would recommend calling ahead to make sure they are open. Many seafood choices!!! I had the seafood linguine, and I have to say it was not the best one I've had. There was no flavor, and mind you I've had actual frutti di mare in Italy. Even with all of the seafood options, there are enough options for a NON-seafood lover. I would definitely come back!

Customers rave about the flavorful burrito bowl, shrimp burrito, and Jalea Peruana. The food is reasonably priced with generous portions, making it a great option for both quick snacks and full meals.
Loved our Empanadas both beef and chicken and the $1.50 chips and salsa are a must get. The food truck parking lot atmosphere was less than ideal.

After a long hike, I was craving some delicious food and wanted to enjoy it leisurely in my car. I did a quick search and came across this food truck. The parking lot was open, so I decided to give it a try. The chicken tacos were so amazing that I didn't even bother trying anything else. I'll definitely be coming back for more! This food truck is a must-try with its wide variety of menu options. Go ahead and give it a shot.

I went today to enjoy a ceviche by the beach. I have been there last year and it was ok. But I don't know what happened to this place.. Ceviche was not good at all. I ordered limeño and mixto. Fish was with scales and hard membranes, corn and sweet potato was hard undercook. And worst of all it didn't have enough lime. I am peruvian and I feel bad thinking other people try this and think this is how peruvian Ceviche should taste. Chicha morada wasn't great either. We were lucky to find a gelato store near by to take that bad after taste

Family-owned Peruvian Restaurant. We tried the Saltado with Beef Tenderloin and the Beef Empanadas. The Beef Tenderloin is tender and delicious. The empanadas are flaky and filled with seasoned ground beef. Everything is fresh-tasting. My wife and I shared this meal and it was much more than two of us could eat.

Great Peruvian food outside of Peru! The fried pork , plantains and the ceviche are all good. It is also a plus when the price is reasonable compared to many other Peruvian spots in the Bay Area. Follow my friends recommendation, we get the food to go and ate them at the brewery next door where we got some drinks with the food.

If you are in the area, this is a great casual place to eat. The Peruvian food was outstanding and it was priced reasonably. The employees were very nice. It was a great experience overall.

My friend and I love Peruvian food, we’ve gone to El Cerrito, SF Mission, Pacifica and Half Moon Bay (Lamas). Lamas is located inside of the shopping center, absolutely delicious food! The food is flavorful and authentic we get the Lomo Saltado usually with chicken or beef, rice, fries and an addictive sauce. Perfection! We’ve tried a lot of different items on the menu and everything tastes great and has flavor! This place gets walked by often and people seem to go to the fancy Peruvian spot outside instead I forgot the name of the place but it has hostesses and white table cloths but if you want real flavor and feel like you spent your money well, feel full and satisfied after a meal-try Lamas. I’ve never left this place feeling regretful I leave feeling full, like I spent my money well and like I look forward to returning to try new items on their menu. Staff is very friendly, too!

This is the closest to Peruvian Food that I have found in the Bay Area. I have eaten in several restaurants, really expensive "gourmet" food but it does not come close the "criollo" taste that you can get from the Jalea Peruana or Ceviche Limeño. I've just eaten in the lunch truck outside and even though I was thrown off by the Peruvian / Mexican Cuisine Name, I will eat at this place even if it takes 1 hr driving. Love it! If you already tried plenty of restaurants around San Francisco, Oakland, just give it a try. It may become your favorite spot (plus you can go to the beach).

La Costanera is a stunning oceanfront restaurant offering Peruvian cuisine in an elegant setting with floor-to-ceiling windows that provide breathtaking views of the water. Located at Pillar Point Harbor, this upscale establishment boasts a spacious patio and a seafood-focused menu featuring delectable dishes such as Scallops Carlitos and Langostinos Crocantes.
Delish! From the first bite to the last the food was excellent! I had the special which was swordfish and it was perfect! The sauce on the beet salad really kicked it up a notch! BF has the croquettes and the paella and that was also really good! Service was great, very attentive! Will definitely come back!

Very beautiful decoration and location. With indoor, outdoor, bar seating area. Just sad they didn’t open the second floor for lunch. Everything we order was absolutely delicious and love the seafood fried rice very much. It’s slightly pricey but very great food

This was the absolute best Peruvian I've ever had. So flavorful, delicious and plated nicely. The service was great as was the atmosphere. Wish we lived closer. My main course was so good I ate it before I got a picture. My husband got the lamb and potato lasagna looking thing (very fancy description I know). The other pic is their tuna tartar or ceviche (😬 I forget which), but it was AMAZING!!

I really hate giving bad reviews. Pretty sure we had an unusual experience here. It wasn’t terribly busy, we had a reservation but the service was pretty bad. I get that it’s a hard job, so I feel bad for complaining but it took maybe 45 mins to get drinks and water? We sat there just kinda sitting and waiting. The food was ok. I expected more, the cebiche sampler platter was not impressive. The ahi definitely did not seem sushi grade, which is a made up label anyway. Everything just felt mid. Some needed more salt, spice, citrus. I was impressed with their tequila selection. But the food and service really let me down. The server we had was nice, she just didn’t pay much attention to us. I wouldn’t come back here. I’m sure others have had better experiences, and maybe there’s better food on the menu. But I wouldn’t return.
Sarah H — Google review
We sat at an outdoor table and waited for over 20 minutes without even a glass of water, and no waiter came to ask if we had ordered. I hope the waiters in this restaurant can be more attentive and pay more attention to the guests sitting outdoors. As for the food, drinks and snacks, they were all very good.

It’s been a very long time since I have felt compelled to write a restaurant review, particularly a favorable one. Everything about our experience, here was terrific. Most importantly the food was superb, But the service and the environment were equally wonderful. Can’t wait to come back despite the 1 Hour drive

Been meaning to try this location. First, the view is beautiful if it would have been a beautiful day. Nevertheless, the service and the food was awesome. We ordered to share: yuca chips and BBq ribs. Eh. Yuca chips was ok. Ribs was so good. We each othered: lomo saltado, adobo, seafood chaufa, and pescado Costanera. Yummy. For drinks: Pisco Sour. For dessert: Vanilla Panne Cotta and Suspiro a la limena. Let me tell you. Everything was yummy including their chips. I would definitely come back.

Such a lovely place with ocean view. The food was fantastic it was a little spicy and it was a very nice treat after along day at the cold ocean.although we had a little delay with our main course because the restaurant was fully packed but the staff was very caring and manager gave us a discount and complementary desert from the chef for the minor inconvenience.

Beach House Hotel is a charming, beachfront property that offers spacious suites with cozy amenities. The staff is highly praised for their exceptional service and willingness to accommodate guests' needs. Guests appreciate the comfortable rooms with beautiful ocean views and the inviting outdoor pool. The hotel's convenient amenities such as free breakfast, Wi-Fi, and parking add to the overall enjoyable experience.
Beautiful hotel right on the beach. Very clean and well maintained property. Front desk personnel were very helpful. Most of the rooms have balconies and ocean view. My room had living area with couch bed, fully stocked kitchenette with stove, microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker, fire place , sleeping area with king size bed , two TVs and a stereo. There was a makeup/ powder area, dual sinks, tub and shower and toilet. Loved the hot tub, pool and beach access. The continental breakfast was full of pastries no one wanted. I watched as people would walk in, look at the selection and walk out talking nothing more than a drink. I recommend getting rid of the pastries and adding cereal, bacon, eggs and waffles. The juice and coffee selection was excellent. Overall I enjoyed my stay and recommend it to everyone.

My husband and I stayed at the Beach House Hotel from 9/5-9/7. We were incredibly disappointed with the dredging that was going on just a short distance from our ocean view balcony room. This dredging began at 6:30am and ended at 7pm EVERYDAY. Yes, 6:30am Saturday and Sunday morning till 7pm. It was an unusually warm weekend, we were unable to enjoy a cool sea breeze, open the windows, sit on the balcony or even listen to music because the dredging was so loud. I am disappointed with this lack of ethics in not disclosing to a guest about the dredging going on directly in front of the ocean view rooms. For $700 a night there are several other choices around Half Moon Bay. I wouldn’t be so angry if the hotel at least disclosed what is going on to offer the guest a choice of getting a quieter room, so at least the guest could make an informed decision. We were celebrating a special occasion and were very much looking forward to a quiet, peaceful and relaxing weekend.
Edith B — Google review
The suite was lovely, but the dredging in the harbor kept us from opening the balcony screen door. You couldn't hear yourself! We wish someone had mentioned that loud dredging would be happening at the time; we could have switched rooms, etc. Also, appreciated the fans in the third-floor suites, yet without AC, it was toasty during a warm early October weekend. Please consider adding AC.

We loved our stay for at the Beach House Hotel for Half Moon Bay Pumpkin and Art Festival. We found this hotel via internet search when looking for a place to stay. Comfortable and beautiful rooms with great views of the Bay. Loved the view, and the included breakfast was delicious! Great local pastries and options compared to other continental breakfasts we've had at other locations. We will definitely stay again.

We stayed a full week. Everything was really "very good". The staff was friendly and helpful and accommodating. Our room was very warm upon arrival & we were immediately given a fan to circulate the air and cool the room. If we ever needed anything... it was taken care of! From checking in to checking out (which was the sad part). The hotel is clean & comfortable, and you can't beat the location! Half Moon Bay was delightful! I made a reservation for a Partial Ocean View Junior Suite and I was disappointed with the “view.” My view was more of the parking lot than the ocean. The description in the reservation was misleading. Room could’ve been cleaner but wasn't disgusting. Room could also use upgrading for the price I paid. Bed was comfortable. Staff was friendly and check in was easy. Didn’t pay for parking which was nice. A lot of restaurants near which is convenient. San Fran is close enough to drive to but far enough to avoid the busy crowds which was also super convenient. Overall, 3 out of 5.

Beautiful hotel and great location with proximity to walking, lovely views, beach, downtown HMB, etc. The main downside, unfortunately, was the very loud generator noise from the sand dredging in the harbor right outside the hotel. The noise was constant from my initial arrival (around 1pm) until 8pm that evening (Friday). It restarted at 6:30am the next morning! Great decor in the room and spacious. Loved the balcony. Breakfast was nice; would have liked more substantial items than mainly pastries/breads but they were very good! I will likely return but only if the generator noise is gone by then!

For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Venice Beach, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Jersey Joe's Coastside. All together, your day would be filled with about 18 hours of non-stop fun.

Dunes Beach is one of the four beaches that make up Half Moon Bay State Beach in California, USA. The beach offers various facilities such as picnic areas, a campground, and opportunities for fishing. Visitors can also enjoy splendid views and observe spring flowers in full bloom. Although the sand is warm, visitors should bring extra wind-resistant clothes as the water and wind are cold. The beach is less crowded than other beaches in the area and has restrooms available.
Venice beach is one of my favorite places. A lot to do, very hip. The art is incredible. A lot of great places to eat in town. The skatepark is great either to be a spectator or use. Very clean beaches. So many cool elements encapsulated into one great experience.

Beautiful because of the magnificent waves. I've never seen waves like this. They are high and far-reaching on the beach. I also saw a huge number of seagulls resting on the beach. They form their own territory just between two areas filled by human visitors.
Nan L — Google review
A very enjoyable entry point to the beach. Restrooms are generous in size and very clean. There are also sinks and lowered faucets for feet washing outside. The parking lot is rather small which makes this spot more intimate compared to the nearby beaches. There is an entry to the walking/biking pass from the parking lot. Picnic tables are also available on the cliffs above the beach with the views.

Windy ….. but nice and clean beach. Campgrounds are very close to the beach. May be camping would be my next option for the San Francisco Area Visit.

Bring a jacket before coming out. Also remember to pay for the parking, there’s always couple of rangers around. Not sure they are there to patrol the park or doing parking enforcement. We came on a Friday and once you go down to the beach it’s so beautiful and isn’t crowded at all. Only few people is down by the water. Wonderful!! Oh, the bathroom was bit dirty. They could use some normal maintenance. 🤗

Windy, foggy & cool when we went. Typical San Fransisco weather I didn’t care for. We skipped the park so no idea what that would have been like. There is a walking trail if you’re a hiker. Parked down the road to avoid any entrance fees. View to the left of the beach was cool. Horses traveling on the beach frequently, which is totally my vibe of interest.

A very beautiful beach with camping facility. Parking here is $10 and you can do overnight camping. You can take your RV here as they have campsite with hookup facility for $50 for overnight camping. Enough restrooms . It's very beautiful currently due to full spring bloom. So many picnic tables here with bbq facility. So basically you can have a wonderful time with family and friends be it for some hours or overnight plans. There are some nets also for people to play beach volleyball as you can make out from the pics .

Horseback riding service
Sea Horse Ranch offers guided horseback rides along the coastal trail and Poplar Beach, with options for 60, 90, and 120-minute excursions. The experience begins with a basic horse riding lesson before embarking on a leisurely ride. The horses are described as sweet and docile, providing a comfortable journey. Riders appreciate the friendly and helpful guides who ensure everyone's safety.
Horses were very well taken care of., also very gentle and easy going. Took our reservation same day, and was very accommodating. Our guide was very knowledgeable, kept an eye on us, while also educating us about the horses backgrounds, and what to do and what not to do. Took pictures for us with our phones and was just a very nice man. Will definitely return!!
Danielle W — Google review
1 star for the view, 1 star for the cute horses, 0 star for the service. The welcoming and onboarding was rude and confusing. The guide yelled at everyone for not controlling the horse they just met...(so ridiculous. And the guide was super unprofessional- he fell off the horse in front of all of us and apparently the horse was uncomfortable. Their policy forbids you to bring any phone/electronic devices for "safety issue", but apparently they just wanted to sell you pictures with $76 dollars, otherwise you'll have to go home with NO PICTURE AT ALL after spending $300 for 2. The route was decent and my horse Roha was calm and cute, but I won't be back again.

We had an amazing experience at Sea Horse Ranch! I had been looking for a place to ride while traveling out in California. They got us in within 2 hours notice and made the booking policy very clear over the phone. The riding demo was informative and quick and I could tell the horses were well trained. I rode Eldorado and my husband rode Roja. They were trained so well it made things easy. I appreciated the wranglers’ care when assigning horses. Other ranches have split up couples before but they kept me and my husband next to each other. It made for a wonderful ride. This was no cheesy tourist ranch. This was the real deal with a ranchero flair. I need to give a special shout out to wrangler Armando. What a kind, gentle man! He gave clear direction and tips when necessary and also positive feedback when we listened to his direction. He smiled the whole ride. We enjoyed chatting with him and admired his ability to engage despite English being his second language. He was a wizard on his horse and was able to take so many amazing photos of my husband and I while riding - I will cherish them forever! The ride itself was breathtaking. I’ve done beach rides before, sometimes they’re misleading. You will ride along the ocean here and it’s so fun. Also a good mix of riding through fields and a little woods too. Going into trots at random was so fun too. Armando had such a good energy that we felt we could do anything on horseback. Don’t let anyone on here complaining about the wranglers or their own stupid shoes (just wear boots like a real rider) or phones sway you. Come here, listen well, go with the flow, and you too will leave with core memories. Thank you Sea Horse Ranch!
Virginia R — Google review
I will NEVER go to Sea Horse Ranch or recommend them because of the treatment to their horses. I have photos and video of a black horse tied so tightly to the roof it couldn’t move! The horses head was 1’ from the roof to his head. His chin was tilted up! The poor horse was being punished bcuz they turn circles, so the caretaker tied theee knots to prevent him or her from turning! I saw this from the road! I pulled over and shouted for help. A man came and frantically undid the three knots, then he went to get the caretaker. He had been napping. He tried to tell me that it was the horse’s fault that the horse twisted the rope and there were no knots, but he lied. I have photos. I have proof on my phone. The other two horses there were standing in their own urine. They only had 3 feet of rope between them and a tree. The horses are tied up for 6 -8 hours a day. There was no water available for them, nor grass or hay. Horses should be able to roam and be in a pasture . I reported them to Animal Control, and waiting for a report of what they did. The first pic is most telling.

Our group had a very disappointing experience. Two friends were turned away because staff claimed their sneakers were “too large,” which made no sense. I called ahead and was told the latest check-in was 1:15 p.m., so I arrived at 1:14—only to find the office empty. When we tried to explain, the owner accused us of having a bad attitude and refused to listen. No refund has been given so far.
Alex Z — Google review
Trail riding at Sea Horse Ranch was such a fun experience. However, the photographer there seemed quite amateur. They didn’t really pay attention to angles or proportions. Trail rides rarely have any fast-running segments, but still, about a third of the photos were out of focus, and most of them had odd angles or proportions. They charge $75 for all the photos, yet they don’t care if random bystanders are standing nearby—they’ll take the shots anyway. It was pretty funny seeing strangers in the background of my photos. I recommend hire your own photographer instead if you wanna get better photos
S S — Google review
Most of the ride parallels the bike path but then goes through trees and through a river. The water was pretty high at the end of May, almost to my feet so shoes and pants were pretty wet but was still the highlight of the trip. The beach was pretty and getting up and down the bluffs to the sand was exciting. The best part was that because there were only 2 couples in our group the guides were able to hold our phones and take pictures of us the whole time. I was expecting to pay $40+ for the photos so this was a nice surprise. I wish there was an opportunity to stop on the beach and get off for a few minutes. Do not expect to go riding off into the sunset or go at your own pace, even if you’re an experienced rider. The ride is a slow walk, single file and the horses follow the leader exactly. All you need to do is sit. Also, it would’ve been nice to be introduced to the animals and gotten some time with the guides. Literally the only thing they said was how to get on the horse and hold the reins, don’t do anything else. Knowing the horses name or getting any other information about the area where we were riding would’ve been nice. If you go in knowing these things you won’t be disappointed. We did have a great time.

Restaurant
Dad's Luncheonette is a charming cafe located in a historic train caboose on Highway 1, offering a menu of classic Cal-American comfort food with organic touches. Run by Chef Scott Clark, formerly of Saison in San Francisco, this spot is known for its fantastic hamburger and mushroom sandwiches, as well as addictive homemade potato chips seasoned with nutritional yeast. The take-out only venue also offers a few outdoor tables for dining.
I do like this spot a lot. Hamburger sandwiches and mushroom sandwiches has the perfect seasoning. Not too greasy, not too plain. The taste reminds me of the taste of home. I also like the Mac and cheese a lot. Not too sticky and cheesy, so that you can enjoy it one spoon after another.

Nice place to get good food near beach areas! I had the hamburger and my partner had the mushroom hamburger and homemade potato chips with a root beer to drink. Delicious! This place is busy on the weekends. They pump out the food pretty fast for a caboose!

Everything about Dad’s was simply excellent. Great vibes, love a tight menu, and the best burger I’ve had in a long time. The salad was clearly super fresh and the dressing unexpected and delicious. The service was so warm and friendly too. Dad’s is such a gem, I can’t wait to return! 100% worth a stop up the coast.

4.3/5 for the hamburger sandwich. It was kinda pricey but taste wise it was really good. Definitely come here if you’re in the half moon bay area. The taste reminded me of beeps burger but a little but better and lighter. My photos dont do justice here lol

We really enjoyed our lunch at Dad’s Luncheonette! The food is “classic California” the vibe is surfer, and the seating situation is precarious at best lol. I came here with my wife about a year ago on a Saturday and it was mayhem ordering/getting a table. But today we came on a Friday at 1pm and it was glorious. Got the happy meal which I split with my wife, and was very glad we did so. I would not sleep on the mushroom sandwich, I feel it is not only delicious but unique, using a wood ear style mushroom. The bread was great, quite buttery. And the sides hit the spot as well. Most people might gravitate towards the Mac n cheese, which was very tasty, but honestly I felt the herb salad brought the right amount of freshness and zing the meal needed. Overall a great experience and would highly recommend to anyone in the area! The staff is extremely friendly as well

We stopped due to reading reviews of how awesome this place was. Wish the menu would have been larger as we had to settle on the burger(wife and I aren’t eating a mushroom sandwich). Homemade chips were good but nothing spectacular. Mac and cheese was unique and the crunchy rice added a great twist but the mac could definitely use more bold, flavorful cheese. Bees all outside in the waiting/ eating area so we decided to eat in the car.
Bulakay — Google review
This would be a 3.5/5 for my partner and I. We stopped here because the spot was unique (part of a train), but nothing special about the food (at least the item we got which was the hamburger sandwich). When we got there, the line was long and then we waited about 15-20 mins for the food. It was a very basic breakfast patty melt- it had a generic beef patty topped with a cheese, a piece of lettuce and pickled onions, and sandwiches by two pieces of toast. The sauce was light, almost non-existent. Portion is a normal sandwich- all for $17.00 which we thought was on the steeper side.

Jersey Joe's Coastside is a popular spot for classic sandwiches, including hoagies, burgers, and Philly cheesesteaks. With a cozy atmosphere, it is a go-to place for locals seeking an alternative to seafood or burgers. Their cheesesteaks are consistently delicious and their garlic fries are a tasty addition. It's the perfect place to refuel after a challenging hike in the hills.
The food here was awesome. Everything the family ordered was great. The positive Google Maps reviews led us to try it on our family vacation. The cheese steaks we delicious. Their fries are amazing! The perfect amount of crisp and the right amount of oil. Enjoyed the chili cheese fries, too. Def recommend and would love to go back. Also, glad we overlooked it looking empty. There were people on the other side of the restaurant.

This place was great!! Really good cheesesteak and burger and would come again for sure. The tater tots were very salty though, and the ranch was just a 5.5/10 on my standards. This seems like a perfect place to take your child after a sporting game, or to watch a sports game in half moon bay. The one thing I couldn’t handle was the paper napkins, they sucked and it made me angry. I used 7+, just to eat a cheesesteak. But again, I would come back! Great for when you’re in the mood for a lil burger or cheesesteak.

Incredible value for the money. I ordered the 6 inch tuna salad sandwich and a half order of their seasoned curly fries. The amount of food could have fed three! Food was very tasty and seasoned perfectly! Will visit again!

You order at the counter and seat yourself. The menu has a lot of options. I always like when there’s photos of the food to help me choose which is why I post reviews/photos especially for spots that have me checking online when their menus don’t have them. $20 for this sandwich seemed a little much but I didn’t realize how big it would be. It lasted me for 3 meals! Next time I’m in the area I will come back.

Good cheesesteaks. Yup, that's all I really have to say. We've been missing Jersey Joe's ever since the one close to us closed down, so this was pretty nostalgic. You definitely get what you pay for. One of my family members complained that their sandwich wasn't salty enough and had to add some salt, but mine tasted fine. Very filling lunch after a poor breakfast. Overall, 4/5.

Fun atmosphere. Good quality burgers. It says the hamburger is grass fed grain finished. The fries were 7 out of 10, the California burger I’d give an 8.2 out of 10. Overall a great burger. I would love to try the cheesesteaks another day. Would recommend you try it out.

Grabbed some fries and totes before we fought the traffic back to San Mateo on Saturday. Added cheese our curly fries and it was a whole 2 dollars extra LOL....I feel like they didn't have an option for that so they added like a small cheese fries to it...We also asked for ranch and it was forgotten. Besides that it was alright I guess Food: 5/10 Value: 5/10

Japanese restaurant
Shiki Japanese Cuisine is a contemporary restaurant located in a strip mall, offering a variety of sushi rolls and classic Japanese dishes. The restaurant is known for its signature rolls like the Shiki Roll and Dragon Roll. Customers have praised the enchanting decor and quick service, with dishes such as Teriyaki Chicken and Salmon receiving high praise for their perfect cooking and savory flavors.
I always come back here whenever I’m craving for Japanese food in HMB because I truly love their Honey Crunch Roll. I’m obsessed with it because the sauce is amazing, and every bite is filled. I’ve also tried their rice meals and noodles (not the biggest fan because I know they could do better) but the serving sizes are definitely worth every penny. Staff is very attentive too, even the chefs at the bar/sushi area. Among all these, their Miso soup is the underdog which they give when you order a rice meal. Would come back!

Fantastic time! Great service -- waitress was super friendly, took us less than 10 min to get our food, and the food itself tastes great. It's one of the pricier Japanese places on the coast, but definitely the best. We had the chicken Udon, the spider roll hand roll, and the steak skewers, and it came out to about $40.

Shiki is a friendly and comfortable Japanese restaurant. The lunch specials are great with lots of choices. The sashimi was excellent.

This was my first time here and I will be back! The Décor is Enchanting.... My Auntie ordered the Teriyaki Chicken and I had the Teriyaki Salmon both were cooked perfectly as was the Rice. The Teriyaki Sauce was Savory And mildly sweet..... Love It! Even the Soy Sauce was the best I've ever tasted!! And on top of all of that..... Our orders arrived Quickly. Priceless!!!

I wanted the lunch bento box special and despite the items being available, the restaurant would not accommodate my request for a vegetarian one. I even offered to pay more but was forced to order the items a la carte which meant large portions and I wasn’t able to finish. The food tasted good but the inflexibility left a not so good taste.

Hello At a local treat. So this place always has the good stuff. Got so busy eating and enjoying that I barely remembered to take a photo. As you can mostly see from this photo is that this stuff rocks... eat it before it’s gone!

Mexican restaurant
Taqueria Tres Amigos is a popular Mexican eatery in Half Moon Bay, known for its fresh ingredients and quick service. The menu offers customizable options like burritos, nachos, and tacos. Customers appreciate the all-you-can-eat chips and salsa bar, as well as the generous serving sizes at dinner. The restaurant has been a favorite for many years, with loyal patrons praising the authentic Mexican flavors and large portions at reasonable prices.
Tres Amigos Taqueria in Half Moon Bay is a true gem of the community, serving locals and visitors alike with incredible food and hospitality since 1985. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a charming and rustic atmosphere, highlighted by a vaulted ceiling with shiplap paneling and sturdy sawn lumber beams that give the space a warm, inviting vibe. The restaurant offers fast and efficient service, along with a fun and friendly ambiance. The staff are exceptionally professional, well-dressed, and attentive, even going the extra mile to clear plates off the table when you’re finished. Ordering is easy, and the food comes out quickly without compromising quality. The menu is loaded with delicious options, but the super beef burrito is a standout. Generously portioned, it’s a challenge even for those with a hearty appetite. The flan dessert, served in a convenient foldable box, is a delightful way to end the meal. For drinks, the rice water is refreshing and perfectly complements the flavorful food. The pico de gallo with the corn tortilla chips is another must-try—it’s fresh, zesty, and packed with flavor. Tres Amigos is conveniently located at a prominent corner with plenty of parking and outdoor seating options. However, the interior is so cool and comfortable, thanks to the vaulted ceiling and open doors, that dining inside is a pleasure. Whether you’re exploring the stunning views and beaches of Half Moon Bay or just passing through, this taqueria is a must-visit. The combination of excellent food, welcoming staff, and a charming atmosphere makes Tres Amigos a 5-star experience. Highly recommended!

This is one of the best taquerias in the Bay Area. Top quality ingredients with awesome flavors. I highly recommend this place. I drive from San Jose to Half moon Bay, just to have this food.

The meat was good but the tortilla was not, cheese was cold, chips arent great. But you can decide for yourself from the photo. It did the job though! $5 each with cheese so good price and great people and service.

If you are looking for a delicious Mexican restaurant in Half Moon Bay, look no further! The food is authentic and very tasty! We ordered chorizo, asada, and carnitas tacos, a flauta plate and a super burrito a la Diablo with buche. Each item was sooooo good! The tacos were absolutely loaded with meat and the meat tasted fresh like it was just cooked! The flautas were super crispy and the chicken inside was juicy, not dry. The lettuce was crisp and fresh as well. The beans and rice were also good! The highlight was the burrito a la diabla because the sauce was very tasty. Not too spicy and had a whole lot of flavor!! The buche was very good!! Loved the food! Further, there is a chips and salsa bar that is unlimited. The chips are not the best but they definitely are good to snack on with some pico and salsa! You order at the register and then go find a seat and a server walks around calling out the number until they find you and bring your food to you. They have high chairs.
Michael J — Google review
This was a little better than expected, but nothing to die for. Salsa was spicy, and the burrito was really good. Green sauce had good flavors too it.

Ordered a super pastor double meat. Received a tortilla full of rice. My daughter's taco had more meat then my 20$ burrito. I used to really love this place. Now I don't think I'll come back again.

Absolutely loved the food, so flavourful and we did not leave any crumbs!!! We got the fish tacos and marinated chicken. So fresh!
Jyoti M — Google review
Good mexican food- the flavors were all in there, the fresh ingredients shined. We enjoyed the choriz enchiladas, shrimp tacos, and the pork tacquitos. The service is friendly and quick. We stopped here based on reviews and cause we were looking for some good food. Glad, we made the stop!

Mexican restaurant
Fast food restaurant
Taqueria La Mordida is a Mexican restaurant that offers delectable and freshly prepared dishes. They have extended hours on weekends, closing at 11 PM. The staff, including the friendly cashier and smiling cooks, take pride in using quality ingredients to create their flavorful meals. The salsa bar provides warm chips, various salsa options, and vegetables for added enjoyment. Their fish taco and chicken taco plate are particularly enjoyable. This authentic Mexican eatery is popular among both locals and tourists alike.
Amazing spot for authentic Mexican food!! The lady who took our orders and brought our food was so nice, and gave great recommendations. I got the hair ache which was super tasty, and my buddies got the California burrito and al pastor tacos, and they both loved them! Portion sizes are very generous, which was nice because prices were a bit steep. Chips and salsa are free though! Just a heads up, the California burrito is MASSIVE! Comería aquí otra vez sin duda!

Delicious and fresh food. Opened til 11 PM on a weekend. The cashier was friendly and welcoming. The cooks smiled and made everything with quality and fresh ingredients, even before closing time. Salsa bar has warm chips, a few salsa options, and veggies. Loved the fish taco as well as the chicken taco plate. Frequented by both locals and tourists. Se habla Spanish and English.

$20 burrito and this is how much meat they put in it. This is the middle of the burrito. It’s 80% rice 15% beans 5% meat for $20…. Ya I’m never eating here again

Hole in the wall which pleasantly surprised us! They accommodated my request to turn a veggie burrito into a non-tortilla plate, and the husband was pleased with the generous amount of shrimp in his wet burrito. Photos captured halfway through devouring. 😅

Kinda pricey Mexican food but it's half moon bay. It's good food, no one speaks English and phone ordering is hell unless you speaks fluent Spanish. Would still eat here but be ready to order simple or start learning Spanish.

I had the regular Burrito with Pastor (pork) in this authentic Mexican restaurant. It was good! Done well, flavorful, almost didn't need any sauce. Big enough to split between 2 people. Price was OK at $12. This hit the spot after beach hopping in Half Moon Bay and is near the 92 junction so it was convenient before driving back home to the peninsula.

Restaurant
Navio, located at The Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay, offers an upscale dining experience with a romantic ambiance and stunning Pacific views. Chef de Cuisine Francisco Simon focuses on sustainable coastal cuisine, featuring innovative dishes that change with the seasons. Some popular dinner options include watercress risotto with Fort Bragg uni and yellowfin tuna tartare with Tsar Nicoulai caviar.
This is what the Ritz Carlton should be like. If you see my review of the sister restaurant in the hotel, the Conservatory, I am not afraid to mince words. However, this was an excellent experience. Blew the other restaurant in the hotel out of the water. Our waiter was excellent, attentive, very knowledgeable. The bartender was excellent, friendly and helped us to figure out great drinks. He even allowed us to sample a few Specials he made. Everyone at this restaurant clearly cared about what they were doing. It was expensive, but this was worth it. I would go back in a heartbeat. It would be a great place for a special occasion, such as an anniversary or your spouse’s birthday. Well Reem.
G R — Google review
Our overall dining experience at Navio was just okay. The decor is heavy and outdated even though it looks like they may have done some “refresh.” Their service could certainly use improvements. For the price tag of their Prix Fixe menu, you’d expect high-quality service. Instead we got servers who didn’t show any genuine hospitality towards us. Very disappointed that this is the level of service at a Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay restaurant.
Daisy S — Google review
This review is for weekend brunch for a party of 4 in May'25. I have been to Navio several times before and always remember the weekend brunch to be a buffet setting where you help yourself to unlimited savings.. but things have changed slightly now. It still is an AYCE but the food is served to you ala-carte style at your table. We enjoyed the following - Caviar sampler - Benedicts Traditional and Smoked Salmon - Bean Soup w/Bacon crumble - Cavatelli pasta - Wagyu beef slider - Lobster Roll - Beef Tenderloin - Lamb Chops Tea /Coffee / Fresh juices are included. The price per person is $199 plus taxes Valet parking (the only option) is $50 Overall, Navio is a place for special occasions..with the food , service and ambiance consistently maintaining it's standards over the years.
Abhishek R — Google review
Dinner at Navio was a true highlight of our stay at The Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay. The setting is unbeatable — right on the cliffs, with huge windows overlooking the Pacific. You can hear the waves and watch the sky change colors as you dine. It’s peaceful, elegant, and not over-the-top — just really beautiful and calming. We did the tasting menu and loved how seasonal and fresh everything was. The spot prawns were a standout, and the dry-aged ribeye was perfectly cooked with incredible flavor. You can tell the ingredients are top-quality, and the kitchen doesn’t try to do too much — just lets the food shine. Every course felt thoughtful, and the wine pairings really elevated the whole experience. The service was top-tier — professional, warm, and very attentive without being overbearing. They timed everything perfectly and were great at explaining the dishes without making it feel too formal. If you're looking for a fine dining experience that still feels grounded and true to the California coast, Navio is absolutely worth a visit. It’s the kind of place where you can really slow down and enjoy the moment.

Apparently it is not possible to write the second review of the same place. Oh well I am back at Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay and it really deserves another review. The hotel has improved tremendously since my last stay a couple of years ago. It is more awesome than ever

A Unique Superlative Experience - One of the best on the West Coast - combining Stunning Golden hue Sunsets overlooking the Pacific Ocean with Contemporary California Coastal Cuisine influenced by Global flavors in elegant luxurious surroundings anchored by Superb Service. We enjoyed our Anniversary in a Sublime Romantic Atmosphere. The Most Attentive Unhurried Timed to Perfection Service throughout our three hour dinner experience was flawless. The Innovative Haute Cuisine showcasing Molecular Gastronomy Techniques is Spectacular in Presentation and Taste. I simply was in delight over the Amuse Bouche Mussels and Chocolat Valrhona Raspberry Espuma while she loved the Spot Prawns Zucchini Fiori Reisling. Impressive Wine List and a Most Amazing Espresso. A Sophisticated Enhanced Sensory Experience. La Magnifique.

Came to Navio for the first time to celebrate my birthday and the staff made it an amazing experience. We got a private room (for just the 6 of us) without even asking. Victoria one of the hostesses even wrote me a Birthday card in my native language. Cruz our server was super friendly, attentive, and accommodating. I even received a birthday surprise and a birthday song from the staff. The food was excellent. It was all small portions but it was delicious and very filling. I can’t wait to come back again.
