The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad is a historic railway that offers scenic journeys through the picturesque countryside of the Great Smoky Mountains. The vintage steam trains depart from a historic depot and take passengers on pleasure trips to explore parts of the region not easily accessible by car. The routes showcase historic landmarks, rivers, lakes, and stunning autumn foliage during the right season. Passengers can choose from various themed journeys, including family-friendly excursions and adult-only trips featuring wine, beer, and moonshine experiences.
I recently had the chance to ride the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, and it was an experience I will never forget. One of the highlights was the Moonshine Tasting experience, which included eight different moonshine samples paired with a BBQ lunch. I was not expecting much from the BBQ plate, but it completely surprised me. The meat was tender, the flavors were spot on, and all of the sides were just as delicious. Our guide made the ride even better by keeping everyone entertained with jokes, fun facts, and plenty of energy throughout the trip. The train offers both enclosed and open-air cars. If the weather is nice, I highly recommend the open-air option since there is no window glare in your photos and you get to enjoy the fresh mountain air. Between the stunning scenery, great food, fun atmosphere, and wonderful staff, the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad is absolutely worth the trip. I would love to do it again in a heartbeat.

Our family took the Nantahala Excursion Steam Engine on Oct 3rd and it was amazing. We definitely recommend the open air car if the weather is nice, like it was when we went. The views were great and the overall ride was a good length. The website said 4.5 hours total but we arrived back at the station 5 hours after we departed. It gives you time to take plenty of pictures and videos as well as time to just sit back, relax and enjoy the views. During the layover, we opted to grab lunch from the food car and eat at the picnic tables by the river instead of attempting to get food at one of the restaurants at the NOC. It looked busy and an hour isnt enough time to make the walk, get your food, eat and be back on-board in time. We really enjoyed the ride and highly recommend it.

This was a great experience! We were in town for our anniversary and this was a perfect 1/2 day trip. We left at 1030 and saw some beautiful scenery along the way. Some interesting facts were shared with us such as the train wreck scene from The Fugitive was filmed on this rail line and we got to see the wrecked train, which is still there, along the way. We arrived in Dillsboro and had about 1.5 hours for lunch and looking around the small town. The ride back was fun because we saw things from a different perspective. Well worth the time investment! Highly recommend this if you like trains and wonderful mountain scenery!

The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad scenic railroad located in Bryson City is a wonderful experience that should be recommended for anyone and everyone that appreciates the beauty of the Smoky Mountains and Western North Carolina. A great ride for families, couples, individuals, and even large groups, age does not matter. Regardless of the time of year, you will have an opportunity to enjoy endless scenic views. The typical route will last roughly a total of four hours, and can be most enjoyed on an open air car, especially if you are able to secure seats on the south side of the train. This affords the better vantage point. Depending on your class of seats, light refreshments and snacks are available and sufficient for a picnic afternoon, but don’t expect to be wowed by food. The town of Bryson City is also an attraction in and of itself, and the railroad company has installed several attractions and shops for visitors, including a historic train museum. We selected the Nantahala Gorge route which afforded beautiful views of the Nantahala River, along with a great number of tributaries, lakes, and mountains. The one very glaring and very negative part of the experience is parking. Parking is an absolute nightmare, especially on days with more full trains. Despite an enormous staff on site to direct guests, there is either not enough parking to accommodate all visitors, or they have not efficiently crafted a method for directing traffic. We arrived on site 40 minutes prior to our schedule train ride (2 P.M.) and did not depart our car in a parking spot until after 2 P.M., despite having traveled less than 500 feet. Thankfully the train was held, but the delay was also unexpected and unnecessary. That would be the only variable preventing us from a second visit. Also, in case of inclement weather, there is no covered seating adjacent to the train station to accommodate visitors waiting to board the train.

What a great time!! We decided to get tickets in an open air car so we can get better views and for the picture opportunities and it did not disappoint. The views are spectacular especially sitting on the station side of the train going to the NOC. The bridges and and the lake views almost are worth the ride alone. We will definitely be back for another ride.

We reserved the 9am ride and it was very cold. We brought blankets and hot coffee. Conductors were very informative. Scenery was absolutely breath taking. Extremely relaxing. 1 hour stop was along the tracks with not much to do with the time given. Lunch was rushed with a mediocre bbq sandwich which was overpriced at a food truck located along a park. We didn't purchase the bag lunches. Other than that, the trip was a great experience. We rode in the open air caboose which allowed for the best pictures.

Magical ride through the mountains! We took the Tuskegee Expedition on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, and it was an unforgettable experience — especially with the beautiful Christmas decorations! From the moment we arrived, everything felt festive and well-organized. The staff was cheerful, helpful, and really added to the holiday spirit. 🎅🏼🎁 The train itself was cozy and clean, with twinkling lights, garlands, and Christmas music playing softly in the background. The scenic ride through the Smokies was breathtaking — we even spotted some snow-dusted peaks! ❄️🚂 Snacks and drinks were a nice touch, and the narration about the area’s history made the trip even more enjoyable. It’s the perfect mix of holiday magic and mountain charm — great for couples, families, or anyone who loves a good Christmas experience. We’d absolutely do it again next year! 🌟❤️

We did the Sunday, 10-19-2026, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM Great Smoky Mountains Railroad Train Ride in an Open Car from Bryson City, NC. Train ride and Great Smoky Mountains were awesome and beautiful. The uncooked cheesy ham and potatoes were nasty. The uncooked biscuits were awful. The fruit cup they bought at the local grocery story is what you feed kids. Overall the food was absolutely horrible and an extreme disappointment. If we had a do over, we would NOT have bought tickets in a car that included their nasty “fancy” food but instead bought tickets in a car that did NOT include food but we would have brought our own food or bought the box lunch of sandwich and chips. Surely they could not screw that up. Plus if cold, most of those type of sandwiches are served cold. I thought the stop toward the end at their food truck was just for them to make money since most people threw away the nasty food and had to buy food at their food truck. The stop to me was very very bad PR - public relations and corporate greed. It really put a bad light on the overall experience. Overall the nasty food and their stop for more money in their pockets did not overshadow too much the awesome beautiful train ride and the Great Smoky Mountains. We would do again, but differently.

Great Smoky Mountains Railroad Depot

The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad Depot is the starting point for exciting train rides through the stunning landscapes of the region. While waiting for the train to arrive, visitors can soak in the anticipation and excitement of embarking on a memorable journey. The steam ride through the Gorge offers breathtaking views, although there might be slight delays due to boarding logistics. Onboard, passengers are treated to exceptional service by knowledgeable guides like Emily, who provide interesting insights about the surroundings and ensure a delightful experience.
Trip was Tuesday 7/1/25. Beautiful day! Good box lunches that we prepaid for. But also they have a snack bar on board and we got some ice cream! Aldo had canned beer. Craft selections. Some souvenirs. Recommend the open air car and left hand side of the train when leaving Bryson City. Great views. (The enclosed cars with more “comfy” seating seemed very stuffy when we passed through them to get to the snack car. ) Bathroom in our car was fine! Nice quick stop at the Nantahala Outdoor Center. Would like to go back there and spend more time.

Had a great time. Plan ahead, order tickets and parking pass. You can sit in comfort no matter the weather or weather permitting you can sit in an open car and see better and great for taking pictures and videos. My trip lasted from 10:30 to about 3:30. Also little shops to check out there. You can order food and there are refreshments on the train. Some beautiful scenery.

Really enjoyed spending the afternoon riding the rails. The scenery was beautiful. You are surrounded by the mountains and the Natahala River. The ride to Dillsboro takes about an hour and a half, then you get off and spend an hour and a half in Dillsboro. After that, it's back on the train to Bryson City. It is a four hour excursion. The ride was relaxing and fun. The staff were friendly and helpful. It's a great family activity. If you ride the train, you get free admission to the museum. Great Smoky Mountain Railway is a definite must visit attraction!

It was a fun experience. The train goes out and back on the same track and does not turn around. Make sure you are on the right side the view is better. There are different options for sitting review them some are confining. Open air can be breezy and sunny. You can bring your own snacks, order lunch. As mentioned review all options.

Wow! What a fun time we had visiting the railroad depot. We saw 1702 leave the station and were able to leapfrog ahead and catch her under steam down the line. So fun!! What a great day enjoying the wonders of steam.

Not sure where to start. We booked our trip well in advance and booked the Royal Palm car. How to get to the boarding area is poorly marked from the parking lot. Once we found the area, we were told to go to section 3 to board are train car. Nope was down all the way on the end. Then we did not get the car we booked on line the royal palm, we got a different car. We would of enjoyed the trip but couldn't. The lady across from us would not shut up the entire trip at no fault to the smokey mountain railway. On the way back, a car broke which they had to weld and were delayed. Attendants were very kind.

Reviews are hard. So, if you LOVE trains, and riding on a train, this is 5 stars for sure. If you’re a photographer/videographer, the travel only has only a few open gaps on the line to get a more expansive view. I tried to capture that in the GOPRO max 2 i stuck out the window. No kidding. Window? I love trains, the vibe, the experience, the history. SO YEP, open air car for me, 43 degrees when it left. Ancestors. I want to look out an always dirty train window? Ya, no. Experience an open air car was a first for me, and definitely not the last. Worth it? Was for me, loved it. the railroad staff was amazing, kind and happy. That impacts the experience. True. Me? LOVED IT, but you know, thats me. Val

The whole Depot area is very nice. The model train exhibit was excellent and I wished I could have spent more time exploring it but had other activities pre-scheduled. Souvenirs were good and reasonably priced. The only downside of the depot and surrounding area is the lack of toilet facilities. I'm getting older, when I gotta pee, I gotta pee soon. There was quite a line at the lone toilet facility I could find and it had some functional issues. Overall, a great experience and I hope to go back again.

Mountain Perks is a charming, family-owned coffee shop located in Bryson City, North Carolina. Situated across from the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad Depot, it's a convenient stop for a delicious breakfast or lunch before embarking on train excursions. The shop offers a cozy atmosphere with outdoor seating and serves an array of light eats such as quiche, wraps, salads, and homemade bagel sandwiches.
My friends and I keep stopping here for breakfast sandwiches and coffee when we visit Bryson City to paddle in the Summer. The food is too good to pass up. Good vibes and art inside and everyone's always very nice.

I stopped in for breakfast and coffee before catching my train at the depot across the street, and I am so glad I did. This coffee shop is warm and cozy, with quick service and a genuinely friendly staff. The drinks are fully customizable, but they also offer a menu with plenty of great options if you are not sure what to order. It is the perfect little spot for a quick stop, and the convenient location makes it even better. Overall, a charming coffee shop I would happily visit again.

We were visiting Bryson City on an anniversary trip. The owners and staff at this place go over and beyond to make you feel welcome and at home. They not only recommend very good food and drink options but helped us plan our day. They sat down and brought us maps and brochures of really cool places to visit around the area. I will always go back to visit them anytime I'm in Bryson City. Plan a stop here, you won't be disappointed!
Kristen V — Google review
they were nice-ish but don't come here hoping for an iced latte, because they use "cold brew concentrate" for them. a little confused as to why they're using cold brew for an iced latte when they're called an espresso bar, it was not tasty. we spent $42 on 5 basic drinks, and they add a 10% fee for to-go orders for "extra supplies and work" although all we needed was a drink tray. i wouldn't come here if you want good coffee.

Wow! Great place with a great location. Directly across from the train depot, Mountain Perks is a delightful place to grab a quick cup of coffee or sit down for lunch and people watch. We visited 3 times in our 5 day getaway if that tells you anything! The food and coffee were amazing but the best part was the people. The owners are very personable and have LOTS of great tips for the area. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about Mountain Perks!

Stopped for a quick snack and coffee before heading out of town and it hit the spot! The manager (I assume) warned us they were a bit short staffed and it might be a bit slower than their usual, but I really didn't even feel like it was that long of a wait for food or drinks. We had good coffee, a cinnamon roll (so flaky and yummy - could have been a tad warmer), and the sausage and pepper jack quiche - delish! The staff came by to check on us multiple times and everyone was friendly. It was clean and cute inside. We'd stop back by whenever we are in town again!

Went here yesterday for breakfast before our hike. The service was outstanding very friendly. We had the BLT and a few of the other bagels and the food was so good! So much food for such a great price. We also had a few of the coffee‘s and they tasted amazing. I would highly recommend stopping by and grabbing a bite and a coffee when you’re in town!

This is such a fun and eclectic coffee shop. We stopped by on our way out of Bryson City and enjoyed talking with the owner and the locals. The food was delicious and felt homemade, and the coffee really hit the spot. If you're looking for somewhere to just hang out for a bit with a nice drink, this place fits that vibe.

Pizza Takeout
Derailed of Bryson City (Anthonys) is a family-friendly restaurant that serves American and Italian comfort food. They have zucchini fries as an amazing dish to try, and the brisket sandwich was delicious. The service was quick and prompt, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. This restaurant is very cozy and clean, with signs letting customers know the expectations. It is a must-see in Bryson City!
Stopped for a quick lunch before the train ride. We ate light and decided on the Meatsy pizza. Awesome!! So, so good.
Jenn G — Google review
The atmosphere and service were pretty good and above average, nothing exceptional. The food was incredibly disappointing. The wings were soggy/not crispy (though the sauce was good). The pizza was advertised as having chicken/tomatoes on the one and the other was advertised as a Philly cheese steak pizza with steak, peppers, onions. Both pizzas were extremely greasy and completely lacking toppings. They were just more expensive cheese pizzas. Not worth it

This is our third visit to Anthony's and we've always been pleases. The food is good, the server was very good and attentive. The problem is a bogus surcharge for credit card when none was used. The young hostess shrugged her shoulders when asked about this. Receipt (pictured) indicates a discount applied for cash. When change was returned the CC fee was not refunded. In fact, even the change provided was not correct. Often when an invoice is a few pennies over a round dollar the establishment rounds back which is their choice. The returned small change was not provided as they rounded up charging me more, that was not MY choice. Typically, I'm a extremely generous tipper. Not today, this event leaves a sour taste following an otherwise good meal. Food here is recommended but watch the invoice!!! Sorry we won't be back.

We stopped in Bryson City for lunch and found Anthony’s. It was a beautiful fall day as we sat outside and enjoyed the atmosphere and train station. We had the calzone and a fried chicken sandwich. The calzone was fantastic with amazing dough. The fried chicken sandwich was less than average. The waiter was pleasantly helpful.

Service was good. The burger and fries were good. The spaghetti and meatballs was just ok. Cool spot to eat if you want to watch the train passing.

Food was a bit pricey, but all was great. I loved the decor inside and is close to the train tracks if you like watching trains.

We were in the mood for pizza so we tried Anthony's while in town. The cocktails were really good. The goat cheese appetizer was different and tasty. The pizza was good but could have been hotter. By the time we got to our second slice, it was cool. Still tasted good but no one likes cold pizza. I would try the place again. Service was attentive and friendly!

Anthony’s has been our go to stop for years when coming to the Polar Express with our children. Today made the last time I will be there!!! Our service was horrible, food was cold, and couldn’t even get a refill on drinks! First thing when we were sat at our table it took forever for our waitress to take our order. She kept bypassing us after bringing our drinks in a very fast walk not making eye contact. After our food arrived she disappeared. You could see her running everywhere but avoiding our table still. Food was very cold and we were missing items. I finally had to ask another waitress for our waitress that we were out of drinks. Finally ours shows up and when we complain about our food and drinks she rolls her eyes and storms off. Then brings back the wrong drinks. She never offered to compensate us for the food. After waiting forever on our tickets we continued to get horrible service and I asked for a manager. Come to find out she is the manager! Explaining the issues I had as well as my entire party of 9 she argued with me and continued to have an attitude! It went as far as having to get the waitress to the table to be on my side that I had asked for refills because she disappeared. The manager threw $15 at me to cover the service charge we had while saying “I only make $2 an hour, you go ahead and don’t tip me I don’t care.” Very unprofessional! Manager or not providing service we should have never been treated so poorly. I WILL NOT BE BACK!

Restaurant
High Test Deli, also known as the High Test Deli & Sweet Shop, is a popular daytime deli located in Bryson City, North Carolina. This brick-walled eatery has been serving a diverse selection of international sandwiches, along with soups, salads, and sweets for over a decade. Their signature Cuban sandwich is a best seller, but customers can customize every sandwich with numerous bread varieties, cheeses, and protein options.
Bryson City’s Hidden Sandwich Goldmine If you’re passing through Bryson City and craving something hearty, homemade, and flat-out delicious, make your way to High Test. This little gem is buzzing with energy—and for good reason. From the moment you walk in, the place feels alive. The line might be long, but it moves fast, and trust me, it’s worth the wait. The staff is quick, kind, and clearly care about the food they’re serving. Everything that came out of that kitchen looked like it was made with love—and tasted like it too. The sandwiches? Incredible. We tried a few, and every bite was a winner. The bread alone deserves its own shoutout. The marble rye was rich and flavorful, the kind of bread that makes you slow down and appreciate what you’re eating. And the berry wheat—now that was a pleasant surprise. Slightly sweet, a little nutty, and the perfect partner to the high-octane sandwich. The layers of flavor in that one were something else: bold, balanced, and satisfying. Even with the crowd, our food came out quickly and fresh. It’s clear these folks know what they’re doing—nothing felt rushed or slapped together. The vibe is relaxed but upbeat, like everyone’s in on a delicious secret. Bottom line: if you’re in Bryson City and want more than just your average deli lunch, High Test is the move. Whether you’re hiking, rafting, or just wandering through the mountains, stop in, grab a sandwich, and taste why this spot is a favorite with locals and visitors alike. It’s the kind of place that leaves you full, happy, and already planning your next trip back.

This small but mighty location is a special delight. Something for everyone, but only seating for a few, so be prepared to wait or get it to-go. They do close early- 3pm. Glad we got there just in time. The serving size is perfect. Absolutely loved the chili cheese fries. We added bacon. And the Reuben- yummy!!!! Will certainly come back to try their other items and desserts.

Diner
The Everett Street Diner in Bryson City offers a humble, country-style setting where you can enjoy American eats such as breakfast plates and sandwiches. The restaurant exudes homespun Appalachian charm with its decor featuring local artwork and photographs of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The staff is known for their welcoming Southern hospitality, creating a family-friendly atmosphere. Locals often recommend this spot for breakfast, praising the delicious food at reasonable prices.
Recently visited the Everett Street Diner during a weekend road trip through Western North Carolina. We were looking for brunch on a Labor Day Monday and managed to arrive toward the end of the breakfast service. This is a popular restaurant and there was a short wait but the staff were friendly and efficient and we were seated in the front dining area. The breakfast menu includes a variety of potions and portion sizes to fit one's appetite, and one can add to a plate with a selection of side items. We sampled the biscuit and gravy combo and the build-your-own omelet plates. Both were superb! Atmosphere was friendly, service was very attentive and accommodating. Looking forward to a future visit to sample some of the other menu items.

One of the best experiences I have had for local dining. It was super busy, we missed breakfast, due to the wait, and it did not matter. Lunch was awesome. The food tasted good, sweet tea was good, the staff friendly offering to display the kids artwork. I would highly recommend you stop in. The desserts looked amazing too.

We must have arrived at the perfect time! We were seated immediately, and helped quickly. The service at Everett Street Diner is amazing! Shortly after we were there, the line was forming out front! The menu is exactly what you would expect from a diner - we were not disappointed. I got the Diner's Famous Biscuits n' Gravy Combo. The bacon was crispy, just how I like it; the grits were nice and creamy; the biscuits and gravy were delicious. My only critique of the food is that it could use a little more seasoning. My wife got the French Toast Combo. The French toast was perfectly cooked. She also got the hot chocolate, which was perfect for a chilly day like today! If you're looking for diner food and atmosphere, you need to try Every Street Diner.

This place is 10/5 stars! From the older guy greeting and talking to everyone like we're all old friends, to the super friendly and attentive server, such kindness was unmatched even with how busy they were. The food was absolutely amazing. The best tasting food during our whole week long Bryson City trip. The sweet tea was perfect. I recommend the fajita omelet for breakfast. It was fantastic. Prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend this as a must stop for anyone visiting Bryson City.

You just know when a place does breakfast right — and this is one of them. From the minute you walk in, it’s clear this is more than a diner. The owner (Mike) personally greets guests, checks on tables, and works the room like it’s his second home. Watched him hang a little girl’s drawing on the wall, chat with a table of EMS workers, and genuinely care about the people there. That tells you everything. Food was excellent across the board — homemade, hot, and flavorful. Pancakes, biscuits and gravy, grits, eggs — all done right. Nothing over the top, just a rock-solid breakfast cooked by a team that clearly takes pride in it. If you’re anywhere near Bryson City, this is the breakfast stop. Strong local feel, great food, and the kind of place that leaves you in a better mood than when you walked in.

Arrived about 9 for breakfast and there was a line out the street. But wait was only about 15 min and week worth it. Very generous servings, cooked to perfection. Gracious, attentive staff. Fair prices. Interesting and attractive local-type decor.

Folks this place is genuine. I've eaten there twice during my travels to the Great Smokey Mountains and the food, service and interaction with the owner and employees has always been great. Both visits there I've taken my traveling friends with me and they've always raved about the food and service and friendliness of the staff. My first visit there was a bit on the chilly side and there was a good size line to get in and the owner rolled out a huge stand up propane heater for everyone to get warmed up. I'm from Kentucky so I know good southern food and they serve some of the best. If you ever get to Bryson City for some reason give this place a try. I'm sure you'll love it.

This place was disappointing. Our food took 45 mins to come out, despite just ordering two sandwiches and the place not being that crowded. Once it came out, my patty melt had the most pitiful burger patty that was overcooked and less than half of the size of the bread. When I mentioned it to the server, she said that is just how they come. I was very disappointed in our experience. Probably won’t be returning.

The Rice Wagon

(824)
Hawaiian restaurant
The Rice Wagon is a permanent food truck located behind the Mountain Layers Brewery in Bryson City. It offers Hawaiian BBQ and Asian Fusion cuisine, making it a unique addition to the area's dining scene. The food truck provides a small seating area, but customers can also take their meals to the open deck on the brewery's second floor for a better view. Every entree at The Rice Wagon comes with a serving of macaroni salad and white rice, adding to its appeal.
I was not expecting to find authentic Hawaiian flavors in the middle of the mountains, but The Rice Wagon absolutely exceeded my expectations. This permanent food truck, located right outside Mountain Layers Brewery, was busy for a reason. They serve up generous plates packed with flavor, from Loco Moco to Garlic Chicken, and everything I tried was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is fun, the food is fantastic, and the portions will definitely leave you satisfied. Whether you are looking for a great meal or just want to try something different, The Rice Wagon is a spot you do not want to miss.

I was wary about stopping at The Rice Wagon for a Sunday afternoon lunch because of reviews mentioning bad service, but we visited anyway after hiking the falls along Deep Creek. The guy taking our order was nice and answered hubby's question about most popular menu items. We got the garlic chicken, kalua pork and hurricane chicken. I subbed the macaroni salad for Asian slaw. The garlic chicken was very tasty and definitely garlicky. I didn't like that some of the chicken pieces were stringy. Hubby said the pork was moist and flavorful. We both agreed the hurricane chicken was by far the best, and wished we'd ordered some to go. The sides were good. We'd ordered our plates and headed to the upstairs bar in the brewery to grab a table and try some drinks, but there were tables open at the food truck. Hubby went back down to pick up our food when he buzzer went off.

The food was delicious! We came up from Walhalla, SC to ride the #GSMR and wanted something different for dinner before the long ride home. Love supporting FoodTrucks so we did a Google search and found “The Rice Wagon” My son had the KaluPork My wife got the Chicken Katsu I got the Yellowfin ahi tuna All of it was so tasty and we ate in the Mountain Layers Brewery great atmosphere upstairs. We will definitely be back to eat after our next trail ride 5⭐️for The Rice Wagon ❤️

My Husband and I ate here on our honeymoon to Bryson City! We got the combo plate and had the Garlic Chicken along with the Loco Moco! The combo came with both entrees, 2 scoops of rice and Macaroni Salad a ton of food for 2 people to share. The flavors of everything were phenomenal, and went so well together!! We will definitely be stopping in one more time before we go home! All in all we give them a 100/10!

This food truck is part of Mountain Layers brewery, so you can take your food inside to eat. They have a few outside tables if you don't want to go into the brewery. It was highly recommended by the staff at ML. We went for a late lunch and did not want a massive amount of food. Thank you for offering the mini plate which comes with your choice of protein, rice and Mac salad. Just enough food and we ordered 2 different things so we could try different items. We got the garlic chicken and chicken katsu, both were good. I liked the garlic chicken best. Great service, they give you a buzzer so you can go back to your friends and beer while waiting. My only thought is I'd rather not have 2 carbs for my sides, but the Mac salad was so good.

Absolutely incredible gem tucked in the mountains. My partner and I shared combo plates to try 4 different meats and every single dish was delicious. A must stop if you’re in the area.

Amazing flavor! I live in Alabama went to a long weekend vacation with my husband to the mountains, we casually found the place when looking for food. So glad we ended eating here! I ordered the chicken katsu & was delicious (reminds me to the one I had in Japan, very authentic flavor) I will go back next time we visit the area!

The food truck tasted like authentic Hawaiian food. We ordered the shoyu chicken, chicken kastu, hula burger but substituted the meat for tuna, and mac salad/rice. Wonderful choice for lunch!

Honey Bear's Cupcakery & More is a charming bakery in Bryson City, run by Kim and Jeff Johner who used to work in healthcare before opening the bakery in 2022. The place offers a delightful selection of cupcakes, donuts, and coffee. Customers rave about the red velvet coffee and describe the cupcakes as moist with generous and delicious icing. The owners are known for their exceptional customer service, even offering to make specific cupcakes if they're not available at the moment.
After a long day of outdoor fun and tubing we needed a pick me up for trip home and this place came highly recommended by a local. The brewed coffee was smooth and robust in flavor. Wide variety of sweets but we opted for half a dozen cupcakes, so many interesting fantastic flavors! The lemon was so smooth and tart with an additional zing of lemon curd inside the cupcake. The naner pudding was super tasty, my husband had a some chocolate and liked them very much. Cupcakes are visually appealing with a generous amount of smooth and creamy frosting and moist cake portion. Will stop here anytime we are in Bryson City. Grace , the young lady that served us was a delight.

Let's talk apple fritters. We were waiting a table at Everett diner next door. We went next door to honey bear got some coffee and apple fritters. The fritter was gigantic, can easily feed 3. It's nice that the glaze isn't overwhelming, it's just right. The breading itself is not too sweet, the apples were caramelized before it was fried. It was not slapped together like some I've had. It was purposefully made. It was not overly sweet, good chewy texture, with a hint of sweetness, it was heavenly. The coffee is excellent, it's nice that it's from a local roaster. The coffee is fresh, not some watered down swill. I will be back next time I'm in town

This is now one of my favorite businesses in town. Really fun atmosphere, always cool in the summer and toasty in the winter, the staff was so friendly to me and all my kids. I came here with my mom, with my sister, with some out-of-town friends, and with my whole family, and every experience was fun and comfortable with plenty of seating, even during peak tourism season. The menu is vast, with a little bit of something for everyone. My friends got coffee (one hot, one iced) and said it was excellent, my kids and I got ice cream (TRY THE PURPLE DAZE FLAVOR!!) which was also excellent, and I’ve had friends who have tried their baked goods and loved them as well. I also appreciate that they have clean bathrooms and free water! I only wish this place existed when I was growing up in Bryson City! <3

Nice little shop we found during the 4th of July festival. Staff is super friendly and the snack choices were top shelf. Would definitely recommend it to friends and family visiting the area.

My family and I are from Tampa, Florida. We have visited Bryson City for vacation twice in 2024 and now 2025. All 3 times we swing by Honey Bear’s Bakery for the Apple fritter!!! Unfortunately this might be the last time we go by there since we heard that the apple fritter might be going away🙁 hopefully that doesn’t change… Thanks, the Rivers Family

The packaging for the cupcakes is absolutely horrible. The cupcakes were good, accept for the fact that the cupcake holders were so shallow that all of the cupcakes fell all over the place in the box as we went up the windy roads and got totally ruined which was extremely upsetting especially because for six cupcake and two large teas I was paying over 40 bucks. Every single cupcake fell out of its holder despite the box staying in the same place in the car. Kind of ruined my day.
Lisa R — Google review
This place has great cupcakes and yummy coffee. I would definitely recommend going and trying the blueberry cupcake... So good. Very nice people that run this place and make all kinds of goodies fresh daily. Go in the morning for the best selection on cupcakes. We always get 6 and take them home. You won't be disappointed.

American restaurant
The Iron Skillet is an unassuming diner that serves up classic American comfort foods like country fried steak and peach cobbler. Despite being short-staffed, the friendly team provides top-notch service. The place tends to get busy, so patience is key. Visitors can expect delicious Southern cuisine such as the meat lovers omelette with home fries and toast, accompanied by perfectly brewed sweet tea.
I’d take a picture of the food but I ate it before I thought about taking the picture. The service was good. The food was good. The kitchen staff was ROCKING out to music back there and it was both entertaining and enjoyable. I like seeing employees having a good time. I had a good mushroom swiss burger and the fries were hot. We’d eat at this place off the main road again. Maybe breakfast.
G.W. B — Google review
Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow. The staff was flustered because they were under staffed. The food took very long we had to take it to go in order to make it in time to catch the train even though we gave ourselves a lot of time way over 90 minutes to eat and 30 minutes to get to the train station. The customer service itself was not bad. They are cash only and do not allow dogs inside. The food itself is country and okay. I personally dislike their food. I'm mainly from Texas due to the Air Force so maybe Texas country food is just way better than North Carolina country food.

Me and my family went here to eat this morning got there at 10:55am. They was out of breakfast... So we said okay and got lunch, but little did we know that we was going to have to wait 1 Hour to receive a burger. Also the prices are really high, $10.75 for a plain cheeseburger! The wait staff is rude, you have to sign in and wait outside the restaurant to be seated. Do not recommend
Sheena C — Google review
My wife and I have both worked in the restaurant industry before. We've both worked with large quantities of people and in understaffed situations. I understand that work days are stressful, long and hard. But that shouldn't be an excuse for rudeness to customers. A server that was serving another table was rude and dismissive to her customers and bad mouthing other businesses in the neighboring town. Our server was barely attentive. Again I understand being overworked and understaffed. But I also understand "service with a smile" and "don't let your mood reflect your work ethic". Other than the servers behavior, the food was okay. But it took an hour to get a burger and fries. They were out of breakfast. And it's 11.00$ for a burger and fries. So 2 rude servers, 1hour wait time and 50$ later the restaurant was under par.

Friendly service and tasty food. Cute decorations inside. One of the only places open for breakfast on Tuesday as well. Left satisfied.
Shana T — Google review
This is a nice place to stop in for some great food. Be aware that they are short staffed and lots of folks like this place. If you are impatient or rude perhaps you should look elsewhere. The staff is far too kind to deal with stuff like that. If you can wait then you will have some of the best tasting southern food you can find here at this gem of a diner. I had the meat lovers omelette with home fries and toast. Their sweet tea is on point. I cleaned my plate.
Russ R — Google review
Nice local place, ate breakfast on a Saturday and they had a buffet $10 and some change. Gravy, biscuits link and Pattie sausage, bacon, eggs and fried potatoes were the items offered. Would probably order off the menu the next time.

The restaurant has been satisfying customers for over 15 years with their hand-tossed pizzas loaded with fresh ingredients like whole-milk mozzarella cheese, savory meats, and fresh veggies. They also offer a selection of ice-cold craft beers from local breweries to complement the delicious pies.
Great food, the bacon cheese fries were delicious! Everyone was super friendly. You order at the counter when you walk in, then find a seat and get your drinks. Our food came out quickly; we went on a Thursday around 2 and it wasn’t very crowded.

It was our first time here and visiting Bryson City. I ordered the parmesan meatball sub and my wife got the mediterranean pizza. Food was good and service was decent. I’d plan to come back here with my kids and try another type of pizza.

Had a great experience at Nate and Nicks! My wife loved the gluten free gourmet pizza!! Burgers were great as well. My wife was also pleased with their wine selections. Will check out again when we go to Bryson City!

Absolutely garbage pizza. Never had a worse pizza in place that called themselves a restaurant. Greasy, nasty cheese that falls off the pizza if you try to pick a piece up. You have to walk back up to the front to order your food, then carry your paper plates and cups back to the table. Get your own drinks. They bring all your food out in to go containers. Save yourself time and money and go to Domino's before eating this trash food.

Excellent pizza! Never had a crust with a slight crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. Very fresh ingredients. The owner was super nice and helpful. Will definitely come back when we're visiting Bryson City again.

Amazing pizza and craft beers! We tried the spinach dip pizza, bbq chicken pizza and buffalo pimento pizza and they were all delicious! Wish we lived near Nate and Nick's, but it was definitely the perfect cap to our week vacation here in the mountains!

Enjoyed eating here after a hot and tiring day exploring the town after the train ride. Most of the other restaurants seemed to be closed midweek. We had pizza and a side salad. Both were delicious and we even had some leftover pizza to enjoy on our hike in Deep Creek trails the next day!

From the minute I walked in the door everyone was smiling and friendly. I immediately wished we had just come here instead of the brewery down the street. They had an amazing selection of craft beers and a dog friendly patio. We only ordered takeout, but we will definitely be back later this week with our fur babies. Our pizza’s were amazing!!!

Pasqualino's Italian Restaurant is a charming and stylish eatery located in a small mountain town. It offers traditional Italian cuisine, including flavorful pasta dishes, seafood, and delectable pizzas. The warm and inviting interior features an open kitchen, wood floors, and red tablecloths. With its full bar and authentic fare, this restaurant is a local favorite for those seeking an elegant yet casual dining experience.
Came in tonight. I live in Tennessee so I’m not a local. The worst part was fruit flies. ( by the door and window ) I explained this to the server and he moved my seat. No hesitation, no hastle. The food was almost perfect. My first steak was over cooked. Medium well.. the server was very nice and replaced my steak. The owner himself recooked my steak. He came up to me and placed his hand on my shoulder and asked how the new steak was. I can’t lie. The steak was incredible. I did throw some salt and pepper on it and it could’ve used garlic, thyme , rosemary. But as far as the quality, texture , and cook. The owner nailed it perfectly. Their pasta is incredible! The herbal olive oil they serve you with for your bread …. Again … incredible!!!! The head chef / owner …. The man has confidence for a reason… he can cook!!! He did not get angry when I sent the steak back. Nor did he get angry because a fruit fly got into my drink. He simply replaced it. He tried to make my ticket out so that I would not be charged for my drinks or my dessert. I pointed out that I wanted to pay for them. ( still did not pay for my dessert ) i ended up paying $110 for a $58 meal that was turned into a $78 meal because I didn’t want anything for free. The chef laughed when I told him how great the food was. He has confidence because he knew in his heart that he made it right. I promised him a 5 star review. Not because he asked. But because he deserved it. ( he did not ask !!!!!!!! ) please go here. The food is wonderful. The owner and the service is just as wonderful. I’m very pleased with my visit ! The bathroom was slightly dirty. And the fruit flies were a pest . Other than that….. juicy, high quality food. . I’m very impressed. It’s a beautiful place to visit in NC. I send prayers to this man for success. And I love his food very much. ! Also… the salad was very clean!!!!!! No dirt !!! No brown spots !!!! Extremely crisp! And fresh! I would give it a full blown 5 star rating if not for the fruit flies and the bathroom. Everything else is absolutely perfect and that’s just me being nit picky!

We had a delightful dining experience at Pasqualino Italian Restaurant in Bryson City. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly our exceptional waiter, who was not only incredibly engaging but also went above and beyond to make thoughtful recommendations. My wife has food allergies, and his attentiveness in suggesting safe and delicious options made all the difference—she was truly pleased with her choices, which made the evening all the more enjoyable. I opted for their daily special, a grilled chicken spinach salad, which was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The atmosphere was pleasant, though the restrooms could have used a bit more attention. Given the age of the building, I can understand the challenges in maintaining certain aspects, but overall, it did not detract from our experience. The service we received elevated the meal to something special. From start to finish, our waiter’s knowledge, energy, and hospitality set the tone for a memorable evening. Pasqualino is well worth a visit, especially if you're looking for great food and outstanding service!

Authentic tasting Italian here in Bryson City, NC. Large portions. Spaghetti was on point. Definitely some of the best authentic tasting Spaghetti I have had. Fettuccine great and rich tasting. Chicken Parm was crispy outside, but tender chicken. Great service & not too long of a wait time. Highly recommended this restaurant with your Bryson visits.

The Staff is very attentive to you. From the time I went in to the time we left they took very good care of us. They came by often enough but not to often. The food was terrific. they have a full bar and a good selection of wine and beer. They have a very good selection of food and everything was great. I had the Veal Marsala and my wife had the Manacotti. The Portion sizes were just right to fill you up. The Bread was fresh and the salad was excellent with plenty of dressing. The wait was around 20min and there was quite a few people waiting however, it moved quickly. They did not rush you when seated and gave you time to enjoy each part of the meal. If you are in Bryson City, NC I would highly recommend this place if you like Italian food.
Art T — Google review
We hit the place at the near end of a rush. Our witness was busy, but even after she checked 2 of her 5 tables out, we waited: Order beverage-15 minutes- no fresh tea, fly in beverage Bread: 10 more minutes Salad: 15 more minutes- soggy lettuce Meal: Alfredo sauce was terrible. Looked like flavored milk. My sons chicken aldredo with barely 4 Oz for $18.99 Was my second visit. Prob last

A surprisingly good find in the middle of the Western part of WNC. I had (local) Trout Almondine and my wife had grilled Salmon. Both were excellent. You know the kitchen really cares when the chef comes out to check on people and see patrons enjoy the fruits of their craft. We encountered a dirty glass when we first sat down but other than that the experience was great.
David H — Google review
This restaurant offers a very extensive and varied menu of Italian fare. It is also well known for its steaks. My husband ordered spaghetti with meatballs, which he enjoyed it very much. I ordered the Artichoke Pasta with Mushrooms & Tomatoes. The flavor was good, but the artichokes were very tough. The serving sizes were rather large. We had a pitcher of Sangria, which was good, but nothing to write home about. Breadsticks and oil/vinegar provided were very good. The restaurant is very well established and has a busy but comfortable vibe. Servers were over the top helpful and friendly.

Nestled in Bryson City, Mountain Layers Brewing Company is a community-oriented brewery offering a variety of locally-crafted beers. The brewhouse boasts an indoor bar and an outdoor deck for enjoying the downtown ambiance. With over a dozen beers on tap, including unique flavors like Cherry Chocolate Porter and Maize Into Eyes Mexican Lager, there's something to suit every palate. The brewery also features an impressive rooftop deck with stunning views of the Tuckasegee River and Mountains.
Great spot. Can't recommend highly enough. We ended up here after hiking at Deep Creek b/c we wanted to eat Rice Wagon for lunch. What a pleasant surprise to find this brewery next door. The beers were delicious, and there's a great upstairs and a nice little downstairs. The bartender downstairs was new, and a manager was training her. He couldn't have been nicer and more professional. Really impressive operation. She was great as well. I also really appreciated that they had plenty of shade on the outdoor deck. Attached pic is of the charity system they do. Awesome stuff.

Great brewery in downtown Bryson City. Amazing location with amazing service on both levels. The rooftop bar is a must visit and the service was impeccable. The beers were probably our favorite of the trip. And the peach wine slushy was top tier. 10/10 would recommend. Visit here next time you're in the area

The secret to this place is they have small downstairs bar that is full with locals. Do not be discouraged. Walk past that. They have a larger and way cool bar upstairs. They have a rooftop view of downtown. Emily and John are friendly bartenders. Their food truck, The Rice Wagon is a very high rated food truck. Due to stairs, this place is not dog friendly. They do flights. They also do 5oz pours.

Great brewery in downtown Bryson City. The beer selection offers a variety of great choices, perfect for any beer lover. There are multiple seating areas, so finding a comfortable spot to relax and enjoy your drink is never a problem. Just outside the brewery, there’s a food truck serving up some delicious options making it an ideal stop for both drinks and a bite to eat.

Everytime we visit Bryson City we love coming here. Great beer selection and quite tasty, all kinds of styles for all palates. They even have wine, prosecco, NA drinks. There is a permanent food truck on site called the Rice Wagon, we ate there and the food was yummy. This place has a small bar downstairs with about 10 seats, but go upstairs and there is more bar seating and a patio that overlooks the Main Street, so fun people watching. One sad thing, last time we where here we could view the river, now someone has developed the property next door and blocked the view. Maybe someone could do a cool mural that would hide the plywood and create a nice vibe. John and Emily were the best, loved chatting with them and they gave us great recommendations for things to do and places to go. Live music, check their schedule for events.

Tasted one of their beers at the NOC, Hazel Creek Blone and really enjoyed it. Stopped in as we were staying in Bryson City. Tried a wheat beer Smoke Over Lublin which had a nice smoky flavor that I enjoyed. Also had Elk Watch a dry stout that was very good as well. Loved sitting in the rooftop patio. Had great weather and enjoyed watching the folks walk up and down the Main Street. Right next to the Rice Wagon which smelled great so plenty of food options near the brewery.
Michael S — Google review
The lady behind the bar is awesome. The place doesn't serve food, so you can go to the back food truck and get food to bring in or eat out. As long as you stay in the gravel area, you may bring your beer out with you. Their hazy IPA is delicious. The food at the Hawaiian Rice Food Truck is amazing. I tried something that I didn't even understand all the ingredients, and I'm glad I did! It was a delicious breaded chicken over rice with a real nice sauce and a side of purple slaw. My husband and I enjoyed every bite and every sip!

★★★☆☆ – It’s Fine Tried the lager here—it’s… fine. Crisp and cold, which is nice on a hot day, but nothing that really stood out. Mild flavor, low bitterness, and a slightly watery finish. Not off-putting, just kind of forgettable. It does the job if you’re looking for something easy to drink, but don’t expect to be wowed. Good enough for one pint, probably wouldn’t go back just for this.

It's conveniently located near the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, which has been offering thrilling train rides between Dillsboro and Bryson City since 1988.
What a delightful surprise to enter this museum! They have two very large interactive displays that my family really enjoyed. To be honest, we spent the majority of our time checking out the displays and not really the walls of trains and other memorabilia. The first display that you see allows people to press buttons and control various scenes within the display. Our favorites were the tornado and football stadium! The second and largest display has an interactive scavenger hunt. It took us quite some time to find some of the hidden scenes—one being Big Foot! The gift shop has everything one could possibly need plus some, everything seemed to be very reasonably priced. The employee working was very kind and patient with my children making their souvenir decisions and even helped my son open his new pocket knife and showed him how the lock mechanism worked. If you are looking for an indoor activity or something to entertain your family—this is it! Admission was $9 per adult and $5 per child.

We did a last minute trip on saturday. We were able to get 2 last minute tickets 20 minutes before it left. We were on the Royal Palm car. Our guide was Jacob. He was amazing. He told us so many facts about the area, and pointed out all kinds of cool things. I highly recommend this trip. Jacob made sure we were taken care of on our beverages and was fun to talk to.

We came to this area to watch 1702 under steam and after chasing the train for an hour or so down the line, we came back to go through the museum. Wow!! The layouts are incredible! The biggest O Scale layout we’ve ever seen! The pre-war room with all the vintage trains is one area not to miss!

Great little stop if you’re passing through! The train museum has an awesome collection of model trains on display and many of them are actually for sale. It’s the perfect pit stop to stretch your legs, browse, and take in some railroad history. The staff are friendly and clearly passionate about trains, making it a fun and unexpected find on the road!

Fun museum with loads of model trains! Admission is free if you have a ticket for the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad tour. Very nice gift shop, super nice employees. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy trains.

Listen. This place had better PR. You would be so busy prices would not have to be that high. It's the Smokey Mountain railroad. Why not have a mixture of natives utilized in the Soviet Empire? Their experience and surroundings should draw people in. Listen money is green and all cultures love a great train excursion. Make it a better experience please for the greater future of Smokey Mountain Railroad. Seriously do better 😒

The scenery was wonderful. The car surroundings brought a nice bit of realism to what train travels would have been like. The girl that worked in our car was great. She did well with what she had to work with. The gift shop was nice and had a wonderful selection. Overall, worth the time and money.

La Dolce Vita Bakery is a popular spot in downtown Bryson City, known for its tempting house-roasted gourmet coffees from around the world and delicious coffee drinks. The bakery is a simple, spacious, and comfortable place buzzing with activity as tourists and regulars stop by for nitro cold brews, huge salads, homemade bagels, and sweet treats like cupcakes, muffins, and cookies.
This establishment is truly remarkable, aptly described as "the little bakery that could." Situated amidst the picturesque mountains of Bryson City, it offers an exceptional experience. The culinary offerings are outstanding, with flavors that evoke a sense of divine delight. My bagel, though visually unassuming, was delightful in taste and texture. I highly recommend that anyone visiting this area make a point to stop by. Additionally, the seating area at the front of the restaurant provides a stunning view of the charming town, enhancing the overall dining experience.

Everyone has an opinion on bagels depending where they’re from but we can all agree a good bagel sandwich always deserves respect and these bagel sandwiches deserve a full salute. We stayed in BC for 5 days and came here twice for the Spicy Southerner. Finally, a bagel sandwich packed with flavor and filling - homemade pimento cheese sauce, egg, bacon, and added toppings that make the flavor that much better with a bit of spice to round it off. And yes, the bagel was homemade, and delicious, and yes, we ate the spicy southerner 3 times but all the sandwiches on the menu look equally as unique and flavorful - we just found a favorite and stuck with it! Staff was super nice and helpful and food was prepared with care and quickly - excellent stop for breakfast/lunch.

A cozy cafe with healthy, hearty menu options and terrific coffee. The food is freshly prepared to order and nicely plated. Indoor seating is somewhat limited, especially at times before and after railroad tours. There is seating out front including places to attach your furry friend’s leash. The biscuits are fluffy and tender inside and flaky and crusty on the outside. The chocolate chip biscotti are delicious too. The grits are out of this world good and can be ordered as part of an entree or a side. If you’re looking for a breakfast that will keep you fueled and feeling full try the breakfast sweet potato hash (pictured).

Best Mocha Frappes around! Love that they are consistent and I always know the color (and taste) of my drink will be the same! 😉. The bacon, egg and cheese bagel is my favorite there.

We absolutely loved this place. We stopped in every morning while on our trip. The biscuits and gravy, bagel w/ cinnamon butter, & Black Beary latte were phenomenal. Definitely check it out if you are in the area. We were able to sit on the patio with our pup!

Very busy on a Saturday morning before the train departs so be ready to wait. Ordered the Nantahala on an everything bagel and a guava scone - both were very good. House made chai is actually spicy and tasty. The Hazel Creek Blackwater was delicious! Worth the wait. FYI there is an extra fee for take-out.

Came here 2 days in a row while we were in town and liked it a lot. Staff are nice, food was good (husband got the biscuits & gravy and I got the yogurt bowl and a cinnamon roll), and the cafe is small but cute. Highly recommend.

Wonderful everything, popular with locals and travelers. Fresh made. I loved the Raspberry Thumbprint, guava scone, biscotti it's exactly how it needs to be. The hummus was loaded with tomatoes, lettuce, nuts, olives, cucumbers. I chose it on a sun dried tomato bagel it set me for the day, and the quinoa salad was perfect after a long drive and hike. I made it Vegan without the Feta cheese. Folk here are friendly. Great music. High vibe place.

Nestled in the charming town of Bryson City, SNAK SHAK is a delightful gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience despite its cozy size. Formerly known as Lorettas Snak Shak, this family-owned eatery is conveniently located next to the nostalgic Soda Pops Ice Cream shop and offers a diverse menu featuring mouthwatering burgers, jumbo wings, and house-made sauces.
We ordered take out, but they offer nice booths if you chose to dine in. We ordered a cheese burger and a chicken salad sandwich. Both were very good.

Friendly staff. Excellent sweet tea. Had chicken fingers, double cheeseburger, club sandwich( could only eat the 1/2). Tater tots were nice and crispy. Everything is sooo good! Wish I had room to try a dessert.
Bridget L — Google review
Let me start by saying this place is a hidden gem in the middle of the strip, best tuna melt and taters tots we ever had, no joke, portions are huge, my wife, adult daughter and my self got full sharing two orders of these sandwiches, they are made with love, the bread was toasted to perfection to be crunchy enough, soft and easy to eat. Food was delicious, tots were perfect, and prices are very affordable, below average for this area. If I come back to Bryson City for sure will visit them again, they are so friendly and service is fast and enjoyable, make sure to sit on the table at the sidewalk, so you can enjoy a great meal by doing some people watching at the same time! Thank you guys for such an enjoyable culinary experience!.
CHAFIC G — Google review
This place was so surprisingly delicious. The best cooked tater tots I've ever had, crispy to perfection. The hamburger was so good and soft and even the vegetarian burger my daughter got was not dry, but very flavorful. All the major restaurants were crowded so we took a gamble on this little place and it paid off! We'll be back!
Britton G — Google review
I was, sadly, disappointed by this meal. Burger was dry and not flavorful at all, and the cheese wasn't even melted. Hard to mess up tater tots, so those were good, at least. The service was great. Limited seating inside, as it is a small spot. Definitely have so improvements to make on the food, in my opinion.

Stopped by Snak Shak for a quick lunch while in town and wasn't disappointed! Although the staff seemed a tad overwhelmed, they were genuinely sweet and made sure our order was spot on. To give them credit, they were grappling with some AC issues at the moment, but it didn't impact our experience in the least. The Club and BLT Sandwiches were scrumptious. I would wholeheartedly recommend Snak Shak for anyone seeking a delightful quick lunch.

Bryson City Outdoors is a versatile destination offering various outdoor activities and experiences. Visitors can rent kayaks or stand-up paddleboards for an adventurous day on the water, or opt for a leisurely hike through the scenic Great Smoky Mountain National Park. For those seeking a different kind of thrill, guided open-air Jeep tours are available to explore the area with local expertise.
The outdoor shop and taproom share the same building. The outdoor area is covered where delicious cold beverages can be enjoyed by everyone. Well behaved dogs are welcome as you enjoy conversation, Mountain Views and tasty craft beers. We grabbed lunchtime food from Jimmy Mac’s down the street and spent an hour talking to locals as well as the owner of BCO. A must stop if you’re in Bryson City or nearby Cherokee, NC. Easy parking and walkable downtown shops. Enjoy!

The variety of beers they offered was truly impressive, along with the icy drinks and food trucks. The beer was exceptional, thanks to the vast selection available. Don't miss out on trying the beer flight as well! It's truly a wonderful spot to hang out with friends and family. The outdoor seating is a real treat, perfect for enjoying sunny or rainy days. The shaded area offers a lovely view of downtown Bryson City, making it an ideal spot to relax and unwind.

★★★★★ Bryson City Outdoors – Great Beer, Great Atmosphere This place is a total vibe. Bryson City Outdoors has one of the best craft beer selections in the area—local favorites, regional gems, and always something new on tap. Whether you’re into IPAs, lagers, sours, or something seasonal, there’s a pour for every palate. The atmosphere is what really makes it stand out. Super chill, welcoming, and full of that mountain-town energy. The outdoor patio is perfect—plenty of space, great music, and usually a mix of locals and visitors just enjoying the day. It’s the kind of place where you want to stay for a second round. Or third. Great beer. Great atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back.

Ben has a great store here. We drove from Cary, N.C. before going home to Philo, IL. so we could purchase one of my favorite YouTube groups we watch all the time, Perkins Builder Brothers, Eric and Jamie have started an apparel line with T-shirts, hats, candles, cups, stickers and other merchandise. Although I didn't get my wish for one of the gang to walk in the store, we were able to tell Ben that my cousin use to live in Bryson City and was able to watch Eric and Jamie grow up when they were young, she said they use to run around crazy. She also lived in a house that Arlo use to live in. Ben, thank you again for chatting with us and for photo.

I very rarely handout five stars but this place was pretty cool. Located right next to the Cherokee visitor center which is very convenient as you can stop in both places at one time. I had met Jeremy the trail boss at fire Mountain mountain bike trails and he told me about this place. Said I could get food at the food truck and a nice cold beverage and a beer inside as well as bicycle gear and other outfitting accoutrements. This place is also dog friendly so bring your pup in with you. A nice patio out behind the shop that overlooks the River. So head out here with your beer and your Chow and enjoy the view. And if you got really hot for mountain biking there's a little trail that will take you right into the river we can cool off and invigorate yourself. Also right across the street is the veterans Park which was really cool. Some old artillery guns as well as a tank. So go visit Bryson City outdoors it is well worth it.

ABC Store is a popular liquor store in NC that offers a wide selection of spirits. Customers appreciate the friendly and knowledgeable staff who provide helpful recommendations. While the store doesn't carry beer, wine, or mixers, it boasts an impressive variety of spirits at competitive prices. Despite not having coolers for products or champagne available, visitors find unique bottles and enjoy the overall experience. Whether you're looking for whiskey or other adult beverages, this store is known for its great selection and friendly service.
This is a great liquor store- way better than what I expected from this small town. I found what I came for (cheap tequila) plus a few bottles of things I hadn’t seen before. They had just about a million little airplane bottle sizes that will be my stocking stuffers this year. The selection is outstanding & will definitely get the job done for your Smoky Mt. camping adventure.

Bistro
Nestled within the charming Everett Hotel in downtown Bryson City, The Bistro at the Everett Hotel offers a delightful culinary experience that celebrates seasonal American cuisine. With a philosophy centered around "Eat with Integrity, Live with Gratitude," this inviting tavern emphasizes responsible sourcing of ingredients, focusing on organic and local produce. The menu artfully combines fresh flavors with traditional Southern influences, resulting in an array of savory and sweet signature dishes that are beautifully presented to tantalize your taste buds.
This is our favorite restaurant and my husband and I have been coming since we started dating. We have driven 3 hours there and back from atlanta just for dinner and even had our post-engagement dinner there after he proposed in the national park! We’ve since gotten married and have a baby on the way and keep making our yearly trip to Everett! The longevity of the staff is a testament to how great this restaurant is! We see the same faces year after year and they have started to remember us too. We truly love it and my husband is obsessed with the meatloaf and the former-brownie ala mode. I am obsessed with the crab cake—when they have it, and the white chocolate bread pudding. It is quite literally my favorite dessert on this planet. We came tonight and were devastated to see that they changed the bread pudding recipe—the texture was completely different, larger, more dense and bread-y and less custardy and the signature crunch on top was gone 😭 I’m really sad. I really hope they will hear my feedback and go back to the original recipe. It was truly special and they didn’t need to change a thing. There was nothing like it!! This pregnant lady is very sad but I’ll be hopeful that next year when we make a our yearly trip, it will be back. Always 5 stars, no matter what. We do love it there! 💕

Wow! Wow! Wow! This was definitely the best meal we had in Bryson City. Our dining experience included meatloaf and trout. Though that sounds kind of bland, if you look at the photos, you’ll see why it was so impressive. The flavors were incredible. The trout was done to perfection and the open range meatloaf was exotic and delicious. The service was very professional and friendly.

We stayed at The Everett Hotel this past weekend and were impressed beyond our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and cared for. Our room was spotless, spacious, and the bed was incredibly comfortable, with thoughtful touches like robes and slippers waiting for us. Dinner was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was exactly what we were hoping for... relaxed, inviting, and full of character. (Highly recommend the Mjollee dates as an appetizer!) Beyond the beautiful space and excellent food, what truly stood out was the team. Every staff member we met was kind, attentive, and clearly proud of what they do. We’ll definitely be back and I would recommend this hotel.

One of the best meals my husband and I have ever had. He has the trout and I had the risotto with filet! First off- I have an allergy to dairy and gluten and they were able to accommodate AND make delicious food!!! They even had a dairy free and gluten free dessert! The service was outstanding and the vibe is very relaxed and casual. Beautiful historic building. This restaurant is a must when visiting the area!!!

Meatloaf was good but I would prefer the tomato based topping to be less since it masked the delicious mixtures of meat based ingredients which is the star of the dish. The flavor of the green beans on the side was excellent. The bread was delicious served with a garlic butter. Nice cocktails and good service. The atmosphere is wonderful and cozy. You must make a reservation several days in advance since they mostly cater to their hotel guests. This is undoubtedly the best upscale food in Bryson.

It was a wonderful anniversary dinner in a cozy little place that felt like a secret Club. We got the lobster bisque and it was some of the best we have ever had. The hotel's renowned restaurant, The Bistro at the Everett Hotel, is a popular choice among food enthusiasts for its award-winning cuisine and inviting ambiance. Guests can enjoy delectable dishes such as Open Range Meatloaf and Creole Shrimp & Grits in a relaxing atmosphere adorned with beautiful wooden decor.
Staying at the Everett Hotel was such a great experience. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner who is a very warm person and makes you feel like you are talking with a close friend. He showed us to our room and explained the features and amenities of the Everett. The rooms and the entire hotel are amazingly clean and maintained. I immediately noticed how clean and fresh the air was in all areas of the hotel. Using an air filtration system, outside air is brought in and processed resulting in no odors anywhere. Everyone we encountered was friendly and engaging. The rooftop terrace is a nice place to relax at the end of the day. Our dinner in the Bistro was delicious as were our complimentary breakfasts. My wife and I highly recommend the Belgian Waffle. The Everett is a special hotel owned by people who know to make guests feel welcomed. Our stay was an excellent experience.

Awesome place to stay in beautiful western NC. Our second stay. This time for our wedding night. Great people and service. Room was perfect. Breakfast in the bistro was excellent. To top it off I forgot a pair of dress shoes the morning we checked out. Owner called me that morning to tell me he was sending them by fedex to me. Can’t get much better.

My wife and I stayed one night at The Everett to celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary, and we couldn’t have asked for a more memorable experience. From start to finish, everything was absolutely amazing. The hotel itself is full of charm and character, beautifully repurposed from a 1908 bank building. Its location is ideal — right next to the river, with plenty of shops and the Great Smoky Mountain Railway just a short walk away. We especially loved the rooftop sitting area with a cozy firepit — a perfect spot to unwind and take in the view. Dinner at the hotel’s Bistro was a highlight. My wife had the trout with polenta cake, I had the beef stroganoff, and we shared the bread pudding for dessert — every bite was delicious. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, both in the restaurant and throughout the hotel. Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive. My wife is diabetic and was pleasantly surprised to find they offered sugar-free syrup — a thoughtful touch that many places overlook. This was more than just a stay — it was an experience we’ll treasure. We’re already talking about coming back. Highly recommended!

Outstanding historic boutique hotel in the heart of Bryson City. The proprietors have literally thought of everything that more than justifies the relatively steep rate: super comfortable beds and thoughtful in-room amenities; complimentary hot breakfast and 24/7 access to coffee, tea, and bottled water; fresh cookies and brownies daily; and a wonderful rooftop sitting area with firepit. The hotel's bistro offers tasty and reasonably-priced dinners. Daniel at the front desk provided superb service, and (caveat, no elevator) helped us with luggage for negotiating the long, steep stairs. A perfect getaway stay.

We came from Gatlinburg to ride the train and decided to stay for the night. I have to say this is one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in. The staff is amazing. The little touches they give to everything is just great. The rooms were beautiful and clean. The dinner and the breakfast were so very good. I could not give this enough stars. I would give it 1000 out of 10 if I could. If you ever get to stay and enjoy the old world charm of this hotel, and all the details… I can guarantee That you would enjoy it

Fast food restaurant
Fast-food chain, known for its roast beef, serving up hot & cold sandwiches, fries & shakes.
Exceptional service from the manager. The food was hot, delicious and exactly what we ordered. The restrooms were clean and the seating are as well. The drink area was clean and stocked. Great experience!
Jeani C — Google review
I understand there weren't many employees. I don't mind waiting. Though half my order was missing. One gentleman was very understanding and fixed it. Another gentleman threw some sauce my way and looked at me up and down to pick it up off the floor. That's fine! I understand they are frustrated. As soon as I get home I feel my bread is hard and cold. The cheese is not even melted and then I see green fuzzy spots. I'm done with Arby's that's just disgusting. I tried calling to warn them. The lines are busy. I just don't know what to think.

First time visiting this chain. Food was served quickly, it was not busy and food was ok. Would visit again but there are other places I would probably choose first

Let me start out saying, I don’t like to write negative reviews. This restaurant has been a disappointment time after time. I have gone back in the past thinking, maybe it was a fluke and it would be better the next time. We went there last night a little before 9pm and tried to place an order. We tried to order three different items and were told they were out of that. We settled on two Chicken Ranch Sandwiches and a drink. We brought it home, and to our dismay, our chicken sandwiches had chicken nuggets on them. It’s ridiculous! We won’t go back.

Man it's been months and months of crappy service, rude employees, and understaffing. No answer at the drive through, always understaffed, and even when they have a decent sized crew, the guys that work there are so rude for no reason. Pay your people better or something. Whoever runs this place does a terrible job.

So. I hadn’t been to an Arby’s in ten years. Today, I decided to try the one in Bryson City. Mistake. I waited about five minutes in the drive thru…and my food was ice cold. I ordered a beef and cheddar without ranch sauce and curly fries. The meat and bun were ice cold, there was a tiny glob of cheddar. The fries were cold and like they’d been sitting for hours. It was 11am. I won’t be visiting Arby’s again. It’s a shame, because their beef and cheddar used to be THE best. The lady working the drive thru was nice. She didn’t put any napkins in the bag (didn’t matter, I threw the food away anyway after three bites).
Cynthia A — Google review
Ordered a half pound beef and cheddar. When I got it, it has no cheese. The guy behind the counter was stuck on fries and couldn't remember large if you said that before answering what kind of fries you wanted. Got it to go and the guy said Well i need your name kinda pissy. When we got it, it wasn't bagged we said that's to go he sat a bag on the counter and walked off. We had to bag our own food.

Barbecue restaurant
Restaurant
Bar-B-Que Wagon in Bryson City is a down-home spot that serves classic American dishes and mouthwatering barbecue. The aroma of smoked-pit BBQ will captivate you as soon as you arrive. The menu features hickory smoked pulled pork, turkey, and chicken, along with delicious sides like mac n cheese, fried okra, and slaw. This rustic joint has a cozy country cabin ambiance with wooden decor throughout.
We are staying in the area riding motorcycles and stopped in today. We had a great experience. Food was great. Not one complaint! We had catfish dinner and country fried steak dinner. Don't pass this one up!

The food was average, but the prices were rather high. There are no prices on the internet or in the establishment that show prices for drinks. We got a basket and platter that was a total of $24.79, but we ordered two drinks and our total ticket was $37.90. There is no breakdown on receipt that shows what you are paying for each item. and they only accept cash. Ask prices before you order.

The food was excellent. I had the ribs, brisket, potato salad, coleslaw, Hush Puppies, fry bread and sweet tea. I got the meal to share with my dog because we're traveling in my van. My dog loves ribs and the meat on these ribs fell off bone with no effort. I didn't have to pull them apart it... was amazing ....but we both loved the brisket. We fought over the last piece. And my dog is the real food snob here he's really picky about his barbecue...I love the spices they use. .. I can't put my finger on it but it has a unique taste!!! Normally, I go for the mustard based sauce but I actually liked The Vinegar Sauce better,. I also normally like my potato salad with a little more mustard but their's had enough pickle in it to balance out that Bland mayo flavor, most potato salads have....iit was so good, it was comparable to my mother's and nobody can top her potato salad but out of everything the fry bread was my favorite and the only reason it didn't give it all stars is because it was pricey for the serving size.. I think we can blame that on the economy and not the actual restaurant but that's the only complaint I have... otherwise this is one of the best barbecue spots I have ever been to. I sat at the picnic bench in the parking lot and watched kayakers below, it was in the shade and surprisingly not a lot of bugs. I also want to mention that the service was impeccable and the food was ready really fast . I was very impressed and I definitely will be going back.

We ordered the Pork BBQ Sandwich topped with coleslaw and the 1/2 Chicken Plate with Baked Beans and French Fries. All of it was very good. They have indoor dining, but we chose to eat outside under one of the pavilions by the Tuckaseigee River. It was very nice out there. Oh, I almost forgot. They only accept cash, but there is an ATM machine in the ordering area.

Nice rustic BBQ restaurant. Friendly and helpful crew. Restaurant is clean and sanitized regularly by staff. The BBQ sandwiches are huge and delicious and the cole slaw is so very good. I had the combo and its really enough food for two people. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food is top notch. Bathroom was clean and well stocked. This restaurant is located next to the river and there is plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy your meal and take in the scenery. I left full and very satisfied.

You could not ask for any more better service and the quality and portions of the food was absolutely awesome. Some of the best onion rings I have ever had in my life these people know how to fix them without having them floating in grease we will definitely be going back if we're back in this area again. My husband had the barbecue plate and I had the chicken finger platter with coleslaw and also the strawberry shortcake oh my goodness

Pros and Cons. Pros: Good customer service, nice theme, great parking space,, wheelchair disabled accessible with ramp, Pavillion of the river view, parking for motorcycles on the side, and I like their honey BBQ sauce. Cons: Their BBQ is nasty. I tried their chopped. Their Chopped is the worst tasting my stomach and taste buds hated it. The chicken breast and brisket was disappointing as well. I have lived in Texas for over a decade, I ate Rudy's and other BBQ places there, so maybe my standards are higher since my BBQ experiences are at the caliber, so if you are from Texas or California (two places I'm from) I don't recommend this BBQ place. OVERALL OPINION: If you're from small towns with poor quality food, I guess you'll think it's one of the best tasting BBQ ever, which really surprises me that anyone could ever think that, but as we were leaving I heard someone say,"Boy this was the best tasting BBQ I've ever had." All while I wanted to spit it out, so to each their own. It had to be the worst tasting for me. I was taught to always finish my food, but I couldn't force myself to do it any longer and it had to go in the trash. My friend loved his brisket and he devoured it.
